2. Pollution and Environment Essay
We Must Act Now to Solve the Problem of Overpopulation
In 1804 for the first time in the history of humanity more than one billion people
were living on Earth. Then in 1927, 123 years later, the Earth s population surpassed
two billion. Another billion was added by 1960, another in 1974, and another
bringing the total to over five billion in 1987. Estimates are that the Earth s population
will surpass six billion in 1999 and reach nine billion people in the year 2054 250
years after first reaching one billion.[1] Traditionally the historically slow increase in
population has been attributed to limits on agriculture. Modern analysis of population
growth, however, indicates that the primary restriction has been disease. The ... Show

She states that the continued use of chemicals will eventually lead to unexpected
results in nature and in mankind itself.[3] Some authors on the subject of
overpopulation have predicted eminent doom. William and Paul Paddock in the
1967 book Famine 1975! claimed that in 1975 the world would be amidst a famine
of huge proportions, and that there was nothing that could be done about it.[4] This
predicted famine never materialised. We must take these proposed dangers
seriously; however, man s ability to learn from past mistakes makes it possible for
him to develop new ways of life that are less damaging to the environment.
Colin Clark, an English economist, proposed in his 1958 article World Population
that advancements in commerce, politics, science, and the arts are the results of
increasing population. He states that in the past man has always found ways produce
more food and theorises that future advancements in the search for food will result in
the colonisation of space.[5] J.H. Fremlin in his article How Many People Can the
World Support? demonstrates the possibility that instead of conserving the earth and
expanding outward man will instead use technology to bring about the destruction of
the Earth s ecosystems. Fremlin outlines five steps in the increase of man s
population on Earth. He discusses the scientific advancements that must take place

One of the most fundamental questions in science currently is whether we are alone
in the universe. All the terrestrial planets, such as Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars,
show evidence of volcanic activities in their past.1,2 Mars is the only location where
budgetary and technological constraints permit access and is also considered as
having had the most likely planetfor sustaining life.1 5 The surface conditions of Mars
presently appear hostile to life,6 and thus we rely on evidence that the planet has
been more hospitable to life in the past.7 such as the recent discovery of liquid water
by NASA s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.8
The change to colder and drier conditions may have forced any ancient life to retreat
into the subsurface.9,10 Alternatively, while Mars experienced significant volcanic
activity, biological remnants may have been absorbed into ancient rocks, and some
organic molecules as an indicator of life on Mars may still remain. Thus, the organic
matter within the rock potentially contains information that can be used to determine
the past or extant presence of life. On this assumption, if we could show that the
production of new living organisms or organelles has occurred independently on ...

5. The Zookeeper s Wife By Diane Ackerman
Imagine, living in a peaceful environment surrounded by your loved ones, and
suddenly watching it crumble to pieces in front of you. As morbid as that sounds
Antonina and Jan Zabinski had to prevail through a constant state of peril, but they
did more than just survived. In the midst of World War II, as Germany was
invading Poland, the family managed to save about 300 lives by allowing shelter
and hiding places in their zoo while working with the Underground; a resistance
group dedicated to riding Warsaw of the German Nazis. The family overcomes
many hardships that I would love to inform you of because truly this book is like
no other I have read, and I say that with respect and awe. This novel contains
laughter, sacrifice, and bravery in all of its forms. Diane Ackerman, the author,
created a stunning masterpiece. She compiled The Zookeeper s Wife through
Antonina s personal records, interviews with Jan and their son Rys, as well as,
articles and evidence from many other civilians in Warsaw during World War II.
One of my favorite parts of this book is how Diane Ackerman introduces the people
and animals in their lives as well as the Zabinski family. Some of my favorite
animals from this book include a fat, meat eating rabbit named Wicek, and his best
companion Kuba the chick; both of which belonged to Rys. I also loved Balbina, a
cat who resident of the household, Mr. Fox, would swap her kittens with fox pups
and she would raise them as her own. Also the Zabinski s

Halloween Night vs. Prom Night Ghosts, princesses, superheroes, and so many other
strange characters are seen walking around during the night of October 31st, the night
known as Halloween. Halloween is the night most famously known for haunted
houses, candy, black cats, witches and ghosts. For one magical night a year, known
as prom, teenagers get to feel and dress like princes and princesses and to attend their
first formal event before becoming an adult. For that night, tiaras, limos, corsages,
tuxedos and evening gowns are all the rage. Both nights are important nights when
growing up, and even though they are so different, they actually have some things in
common. Halloween night and prom are nights that have a similar, yet... Show more

Halloween is the one night a year children or teenagers can dress up and act
differently. They wear costumes and get to be a different person or thing for the
night. Even though prom is not celebrated on the same date every year, it is still
one night of dressing up. Teenagers get to dress up formally and also act differently
for the night. The attire is usually formal unless the prom has a certain theme that
calls for them to dress up in costumes. The purpose of both nights is about dressing
up, but, the attire is different for both events. The second point of comparison is
that both are a night of social events. Depending on how each family celebrates
Halloween it can be a night for families to go out together and trick or treat together,
or the children can go out with a group of friends to go trick or treating. Many
costume parties are thrown to celebrate the night and there are many haunted houses
to go through with friends or family. Prom night is an important social dance event
where teenagers in high school get together with their friends before and after prom.
Both boys and girls might get together before prom to get ready together and then
take pictures with friends and family. Before attending the dance they go out to
dinner with their friends and take a limo to the prom venue. Many parties are held
after the prom to continue the night s celebrations.
7. Compare And Contrast The Aprenticeship Of Duddy
Kravitz
The relationship between a parent and their child is a very important relationship in
anyone s life. An example of children being affected by their relationships with their
parents is evident in the following pieces of work. Death of a Salesman and The
Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz both share similarities between the father and son
relationships shown within the novels. The two books both share the idea of having
false ideals within the relationship between a father and son, the father does not treat
women with any respect, therefore the son follows in his footsteps, and the
relationships simply lack a bond between father and son. Death of a Salesman by

There s no spite in it any more. I m just what I am, that s all. (Act 2) In The
Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, Max is a pimp and he focuses his attention
more on Lennie than Duddy. This is evident when Duddy went off to work in the
Laurentian Mountains and Max never took the time to reach out and write to him
whereas Max was able to write to Lennie every week, who was working as a camp
counsellor. The relationship between Duddy and his father is distant and his father
never tells Duddy that he is proud of him. This is small, but it removes any sort of
positive reinforcement for Duddy. Duddy would not feel accomplished whenever he
would do something great and just be constantly brought down because he feels like
he does not make his father proud. The father son relationships between Willy and
Biff, and Max and Duddy both have a lack of a bond between the individuals which
evidently affects the son in a negative
8. Comparison Of Savagery In Lord Of The Flies
Weakened by the day s toll, fair Simon walks towards the fire. He unknowingly
walks towards what will be his deathbed. He is beaten to shreds when the other
boys mistake him for the beast or do they? As his lifeless body floats out to sea, the
boys are in denial and disbelief. The tone and language used in both of these passages
found in chapter 9 of Lord of the flies creates a large contrast between Simon s
murder and his valediction. Because it is written with Golding s beliefs about
humanity, it is possible to differentiate between the light and the dark aspects of
these scenes. At the surface, Simon s death is a horrific murder of the dark sideand his
funeral a peaceful passing of the light side but as it is further understood and
analyzed, both of these scenes are a product of brutal humansavagery.
During passage one, Simon returns from the mountain and goes to Jack s tribe to
tell then there is no beast to be afraid of. Even in Simon s angelic efforts, the tone
and language suggest that this will not be a moment of pride. As the boys rip him
apart, Golding uses horrifying language such as Surged , unendurable , fiery , and
throb (pg. 168 169). These words provoke a negative connotation because they show
urgency, but also the brutality of the events taking place. Throughout the entire
scene, Golding makes references to animals. He uses words like blood , bit , and tore
(pg. 168 169) to tell the audience that not only are the boys savages, they are also

4% for every year of service (Teachers Service Commission, 2012 p 1 24). Duflo et

central role played by the Teachers Service Commission in teacher management and
trade union representation is highlighted to show how the wage system works

using a pay set salary system (Michael and Mathew, 2007).
Glazerman et al, (2011) argue that the single salary system was created to address

on qualification and experience as opposed to the measure of teacher effectiveness
and their students results. (Glazerman et al, 2011;

Abstract
This study identify current Toyota strategy problem. Toyota is a top leader in the
automotive industry and this paper focus on how they can develop and manage their
problem Later than, it will recommend some solution to them to protect the company
from competitors.
Toyota Case Analysis
Introduction
Toyota Motor Corporation is one of the leading automakers with a huge market in
the US. Toyota Company is located in Japan, and its headquarters in the U.S. are
based in Torrance, California. It has more than 300,000 employees in 50
manufacturing facilities in all around the world. Toyota s vehicles are sold in more
than 170 countries. It has three major brands; Toyota, Lexus, and Scion. In 2013,
Toyota s revenue was $214.6 billion globally (Ruiz, 2014).
Statement of problem
Today, Toyota like other automotive companies has problem in their products.
The main problem of Toyota is that Toyota cannot compete in the luxury level car
market, and so it can lose market share in this level. (Toyota annual report, 2014).
In Toyota s luxury line, Lexus, they are still losing market share to BMW in sedan
sales and in SUV sales because Toyota will quickly lose market share due to a failure
to meet customer requirements. If it doesn t find the solution for this problem, it will
not be able to compete with its other competitors.
Problem Description
Toyota Current Strategies. According to Toyota s 2014 annual report, Toyota uses

12. Genetically Modified Organisms ( Gmos )
Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) to Produce Pharmaceuticals pharming
How it Works
Genetically modified (GM) pharmaceuticals are produced through inserting genes of
a desired substance into an organism such as plants or animals, so they will express
this trait to mass produce that substance in secretions or through their body cells.
Many pharmers , people who make GM pharmaceuticals, use recombinant DNA
techniques to achieve this desired result of having an animal or plant mass produce
medicinal substances. Recombining DNA in creating pharmaceutical organisms
involves the crossing of the DNA of an organism with a gene that creates the desired
substance for a pharmaceutical.
In animals, pharmers will insert a gene that codes ... Show more content on

The desired gene is then inserted into a cut plasmid, a piece of DNA in bacteria cells
that is separated by a restriction enzyme and is able to put new genetic information
into an organism. The modified plasmid is introduced to a culture of bacteria such as
agrobacterium tumefaciens where the plasmid will enter into the bacteria. The
bacteria containing the particular gene is introduced to the plants where the they will
enter into the cells of the plants and integrate the gene into the genome of the plant.
The plant now contains the gene that produces a certain medicinal substance. When
the plant is mature enough, the pharmaceutical substances in the plant are extracted
and purified. Plants that are made for pharmaceuticals (PMPs) are different from
plants that are traditionally considered medicinal because PMPs have undergone
genetic engineering in order to produce a concentrated amount of the medicinal
substance.
Applications
GM pharmaceuticals are currently very experimental and do not have many
applications due to vague safety procedures and protocols for producing
pharmaceuticals from GM plants and animals. This led to very few governments
approving the use of GM plants and animals to create mass pharmaceuticals.
However if a GM drug were to be approved, it will be likely to be classified as
experimental or as a new drug submission where it can only be used in the laboratory
setting. However, there are some instances where GM pharmaceuticals have use.

These are the words of Joseph Campbell and they have a significant meaning in
Percy Jackson the Lightning Thief. As in the story, Percy Jackson is willing to

14. Fanon Violence
On Violence
Fanon is most noted for claiming that At the individual level, violence is a cleansing
force. It rids the colonized of their inferiority complex, of their passive and
despairing attitude. It emboldens them and restores their self confidence (51). At first
glance this claim rings true to the interpretations of his work given by authors such as
Robert Fulford and Henry Louis Gates, Jr who resent Fanon s work, but there is more
to this claim. To further enumerate on the quote, violence is a cleansing force for
Fanon after having affirmed that decolonization is always a violent phenomenon.
He describes this decolonization as a movement of bringing about change which
can only be done by the colonized taking charge of their land. The settlers are never
willing to view the oppressed as subjects, meaning freedom has to be taken by force.

Since the colonial world is divided into two parts: Native and Colonizer s sector,
the colonizers are able to govern with brutal force in order to keep the natives in
their place of poverty and obedience. It is through the unbalanced relationship of the
two that Fanon sees it fit for the colonized to reciprocate the violence they have been
exposed to their whole colonial lives.
It is here that the distinction between colonial violence and the emancipatory
violence of the colonized is needed. Colonial violence to Fanon has 3 dimensions,
it is inaugural, empirical and absurd (Mbembe 12). This violence is inaugural in the
sense that it is used by the settlers to build the colonial state and maintain their
power in what Fanon called a politics of hate (89). The state is everything but civil
as it separates the settlers from the oppressed which leads into the second dimension
where the empirical aspects of this violence are

16. The Theory Of Social Contract
Contractualism, in general, is whether or not an action is deemed right or wrong can
be understood in terms of contracts, and is furthered with the theory of social
contract. Additionally, contractualism can be distinguished from Hobbesian
contractualism (also known as contractarianism) and Kantian contractualism,
whereby the former looks to contracts made by individuals of a society for the sake
of personal gain and benefit, while the latter sees to contracts made by individuals of
any given society that consider each other and themselves to be free and equal
members of State. The theory of the social contracthas existed for the longest time, it
speaks of an agreement (or agreements) made by the members of any society and
community to give up certain individual freedoms for the betterment of that society
itself, i.e state protection and security.
Firstly in history, power was to reside in the country s monarch, as it was divinely
ordained. Over time, however, there was a need for more justification for where
power over the state laid other than just simply being divinely granted or ordained .
Thus, during the SiГЁcle des LumiГЁres, England a country that has for the longest
time had a monarch in power (admittedly of which the very same monarch still exists
today) entered great political, administrative and constitutional change where England
was entering a transformation becoming a modern State. It was during the SiГЁcle

Introduction The term employee engagement was initially published in the article
psychological conditions of personal engagement and disengagement at work
(William. A. Kahn, 1990,).Employee engagement is an individual s own ability and
their desires to work hard with best performance for the organization. It is kind of
commitment between employees and organization and also a psychological
connection of employee towards the organization rather than physical. Generally,
there are three aspects of employees to consider their involvement such as Individuals
own perception ,feelings and their efforts to achieve organizational goals while
maintaining healthy relation with organization and customers.(cook,sarah,2008,pg3)
The success of organization depends upon the engagement of their employees and
their awareness regarding their duty, role and output of work that perceives the
organization ahead (Anitha J, 2014) Many researchers have defined employee
engagement in their own words but Shane and lattimore, 2013, pg138) believes that
it is a person s innate feelings, psychological thinking, intellectual abilities and their
motivational efforts to achieve the job oriented goals. Employee engagement is a
kind of specific environmental condition in which an individual feel totally indulge
in work and consider that work meaningful, manageable and be success full for
future. The motive of writing this essay is to identify and discuss the strategies to

18. Cost Leadership Strategy for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
1. Wal Mart Stores, Inc. and Wal Mart 2007 Cost Leadership Strategy Wal Mart
Stores, Inc. established a competitive advantage in providing consumer goods at
lower prices than competitors in the discount retailing industry. Wal Mart s
adoption of a cost leadership strategy attracted price sensitive customers to
purchase the lowest priced goods in the market. In order to buy in volume at
attractive prices, the company built their own warehouse to store an extensive
range of products upholding Wal Mart s sustainable competitive advantage. This
allowed the cost of goods sold amount to three quarters of discounting revenues,
reducing its cost of operations in exchange for larger market share and higher
profits (HBS, 3). The strategy attracted masses of consumers providing a no frill
service by achieving higher economies of scale at the same time maximizing sales
volume and inventory turnover, while minimizing expenses. Wal Mart gained a
sustainable competitive advantage in their ability to keep prices lower than
competitors because of their accumulated lower cost per unit fixed costs allowing
the store to benefit from the economies of scale. Risk of Consumer Buying Power
The risk with offering the lowest market prices is the uncertainty of price sensitive
customers in the market and their ignorance of cheapest prices due to Wal Mart s lack
of advertising efforts increasing switching costs to competitors. Another risk
19. What Is Queen Elizabeth s Style
Queen Elizabeth Style King Henry VIII was king of England from 1509 to 1547;
he had three children Elizabeth, Mary, and Edward. Elizabeth became Queen
Elizabeth I of England during the Renaissance period after her sister Mary died.
The Renaissance is often referred to as the Elizabethan Era because Queen
Elizabeth had an impact on politics, arts, and religion. She also changed many
aspects of fashion for men and women. The fashion world during the Renaissance
period was highly influenced by Queen Elizabeth s unique style. One part of
Elizabeth s style was her hair and makeup which were obtained by using odd
techniques. A series of dyes, paints, and plucking were used in the daily hair and

Men and women began caring more about their wardrobe for public appearances and
in their home life. Ladies of status would use Elizabeth s gowns as an example for
their own. Many nobles throughout Europe chose to use Queen Elizabeth I of England
as their fashion inspiration. They began using more details like embroidery and
jewels. Even the new and growing middle class could afford detailing, expensive
gowns, and beauty treatments (Daily 186). Pale, translucent skin and red hair were
in. The Women wanted Elizabeth s red hair so badly that they would try dying
their hair with harsh chemicals, and if that caused all their hair to fall out, they
would just wear red wigs. Once Queen Elizabeth s teeth began to rot and blacken,
women went as far as darkening their own teeth to follow the mighty trend setter.
The wigs eventually became more popular than dying their own hair. She not only
influenced the women s fashion of the renaissance, but also the men s fashion. Just
like the women wished for a perfect clinched waist line the men also wore corsets
to gain that perfect figure. For men the perfect figure was a V shaped torso
keeping the pot belly in the center of the V like a pea in a pod (Elizabeth 3 of 8).
The men even began to add detailing to their garments like; expensive fabrics,
embroidery, ruffles, jewels, and even ruff collars sometimes reaching a length of a
foot all the way around (De Secondat 99). During Elizabeth s rule a new class
began to rise and grow, called the middle class. Sumptuary laws were made even
stricter to make sure everyone would not forget their place in the class system. This
separated each class by what they were allowed to wear and what they were not.
Queen Elizabeth wanted to make known that the middle class was still lower than her

One Beat at a Time
When we think of cardio vascular diseases, we usually always associate them with
the loss of a family member or friend. Almost everyone knows of someone who is
affected by these tragic diseases. Since the ancient times, there have been clues
left showing possible cardio vascular diseases within the Egyptian families. The
earliest proof of a cardio vascular disease is of a 3,500 year old Egyptian mummy
with a serious case of arthrosclerosis, which was identified via modern CT scan.
During the next few centuries little is known about cardio vascular diseases and the
death rate subsequently is low, until the turn of the Industrial age. Since this period of
time cardio vascular diseases have hit hard at the heart leading ... Show more content

Premature atrial contractions are early additional beats that start in the atria and are
usually innocuous and usually don t require medical attention. Premature ventricular
contractions are one of the most prevailing arrhythmia where the heart will skip a
beat due to stress, caffeine overindulgence, or excessive exercise. Some people who
have frequent contractions should seek medical attention, but if it is irregular it is
usually harmless. Atrial fibrillation is quite frequent which causes the atria to
contract out of rhythm. Atrial flutter is a more organized version of atrial fibrillation
where it s caused by one or many rapid circuits in the atria. Paroxysmal
supraventricular tachycardia originates above the ventricle and is known as a rapid
heart rate. Accessory pathway tachycardias are a form of rapid heart rate that is due
to extra passageway between the ventricles and atria. AV nodal reentrant tachycardia
is another form of rapid heart rate that is caused through more than one passageway.
These can both be treated with special therapy or medication. Ventricular tachycardia
is a hasty heartbeat that begins in the ventricle section of the heart. This hasty beat
prevents the heart from attaining the right amount of blood to fill up, thus causing the
body to receive much less blood than usual. Ventricular fibrillations are inconsistent
impulses from the ventricles

Geoffrey Chaucer is a risen star during the Hundred Years War. Chaucer was a
talented writer, who translated The Romance of the Rose and wrote The House of
Fame, The Legend of Good Women, and The Parliament of Fowls...etc. Pardoner
is a character from Chaucer s masterpiece The Canterbury Tales. Pardoner is not
only one of the major role in the Prologue, but also the character Chaucer dislikes
the most. Chaucer described Pardoner had hair as yellow as wax, ...... Thinly they
fell, like rat tails, one by one (L694 L697 The Canterbury Tales). As the reader
keeps going down the line, Pardoner s personality shows vividly that he is a
untrustworthy, selfish man. In the Prologue, Pardoner is riding in the back and

23. Essay The Metaphysical One in Platonic and Augustinian...
The legacy of Plato left its distinctive brand of influence on St. Augustine s beliefs
and writings, of this there is no doubt. In Confessions, Augustine himself professed
that it was the Platonic books that enabled him to attach himself to his God. However,
it is evident that Augustine re augmented much of the Platonic thoughts and,
combining them with the early Christian doctrines, configured the hybridinto what
became the foundation of Catholicism. The differences as well as similarities that
exist between the two thought systems can be dissected from two points: the nature
of the metaphysical supreme One and its relationships with the Many.
At the heart of Platonism is the concept of eidos, or Forms: the theory of an absolute
and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept is akin to the Hindu doctrine of Atman, the Cosmic Soul that is the
ultimate Being; while Platonic material world is similar to the Hindu idea of Maya
the World of Illusions that is made by the materialization of the Invisible. The
Platonic God remains formless, nameless, and utterly unfathomable. It can be seen
as a unified collection of isolated eidos, much like how thousands of different colors
are in the end dissolved into an eternal shade of gray. Or it can also be understood as
the Form of Being. In a sense, this God is a mathematical concept: Infinity.
Centuries later, Augustine incorporated Plato s half hidden pantheism into the
foundation of the monotheistic Catholic Church. Though both metaphysical entities
are the cause of physical existence, the Platonic One is passive while the Christian
God of Augustine can be defined through his action of Creating. He is similar to the
other entity in that He is immaterial, eternal, immutable, and unchangeable. He is the
Word and the Will. However, whereas Plato s Universal Principle is a one
dimensional perfect Reality, Augustine s God is the spiritual substance the formless
Matter which is both everywhere and nowhere at once. The Creation is unified and
contained, across all past, present, and future, in one single Creator. To God, there is

The earth pulsated with every beat, every moment the lines dashed up and down on
the screen; a life hanging in the balance of that steady sound. With every stroke
piercing the silence of the white halls, echoing the ethereal rhythm of the living and
taunting the abyss with the presence of life. The beating of a heart.
He laid glued to the cobbled pavement as the droning traffic buzzed and staggered
in front of him. Unblinking, unmoving, his gaze transfixed to the brick shaped
crevices on the ground. He was walled in an orb of fear, a cascading mass of
turmoil etched in the furrowed creases of his brow and forehead. His hands reached
out to the cool of his stethoscope. Grasping it firmly in hands, he veiled it away, into
his crimson coat.
The city screamed with life, but the emptiness he felt still drummed through the
tight walls of his head. The swamping rush of emotion crept under his face;
contorting it in an all consuming wrath. His nostrils flaring, his eyes flashing and
closing into slits, his mouth quivering, slurring inaudible words that came spewing
into space like a volcano emancipating the pent up emotions into the void. The pain
was unbearable. He couldn t stop it. He didn t know how. Grief and regret trailed
down his face in two orderly lines, leaking away the dignity that resided in his veins.
Soaking the earth with humanity s grief for the dead.

25. Genesis 24
A protagonist is the character that drives the action of the plot. In Genesis 24, the
main character who drives the plot of the story is Abraham s servant, who has
been given the job to find a suitable wife for Isaac. The entire story of Genesis 24 is
revolved around the job of the servant and him being divinely introduced to
Rebekah, the wife Abraham said to find. Abraham provides specific instructions for
his servant in his task to find Isaac a wife; therefore, the action of the story moves
from Abraham, which most of this part of Genesis is about, to Abraham s servant.
The servant finding Rebekah is a fulfillment of Gods promise to Abraham of many
descendants given a couple chapters before in Genesis. Additionally, the previous

If Rebekah were the main character of the story, the story would have told of her
actions before the servant notices her. The writer of the story made sure to frame
Rebekah as a secondary character because she is only found because of the
directions given to the servant. As mentioned before, Rebekah responded to the
servant s request just as he was told the proper wife would. In addition, Rebekah is
part of the house of [the servant s] master s kin (Genesis 24:27). The servant is the
one who asked that Rebekah come right away even though her family objected the
notion, which was part of the servant s initial directions (Genesis 24:56). Rebekah
is the embodiment of the woman Abraham described to the servant. Being the
embodiment means being the outcome of the story, not the protagonist. Also,
even when Rebekah has been chosen by the servant, the wedding of Rebekah and
Isaac does not take up a large part of the chapter. Genesis 24:67 proclaims that Then
Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah s tent... and she became his wife . This act
of marriage seems to be an afterthought because the servant followed the directions
of Abraham, so Isaac knew she was divinely meant to be his wife. The largest part
of the chapter was still the servant trying to find the wife for Isaac. If Rebekah were
the protagonist, a stronger emphasis would have been placed on this act of marriage
between Rebekah and

The newly created firm will have a market share of 27.14% after summing the
market of share of 14.5. % for Tigo and 12.6% for Airtel respectively. The combine
market shares (27.1%) of the two firms is lesser than that of MTN with market share
of 48.5% .Using the market shares reveals that MTN will still have more dominance
in the market than the newly created firm from the merger. This provides proof of the
fact that the newly created firm would not have much control over the market in
using predatory pricing to drive competitors and potential competitors out of the
market. The merger should be approve as competition in market will be maintained
after the merger.

The concern of the regulator will be to determine if the merger could raise or reduce
the welfare of consumers. That is if the reduction in cost measured by the lower
average cost would be sufficiently large relative to the rise in price, then the merger
would improve welfare of consumers as cost saved will be greater than
deadweight loss. But if the rise in price after the merger is sufficiently large
relative to the reduction in average cost then the merger lowers welfare
(deadweight loss). The antitrust authorities can determine if the merger would
enhance welfare or not depending on how reacts to the merger. The goal of
competitors is to determine whether the merged firm will provide quality or worse
services compared to the combined premerger services provided by the firms
engage in the merger. If the quality of services provided by the merged firms falls
then competitors will be better off, since demand for their service is likely to
increase. The increase in demand for the services of competitors induces them to
provide more to the market, but on the net the total quality of service provided in the
industry would falls creating higher prices, in that case the merger will not be
challenge by the competitors. The higher price resulting from the merger reduces
welfare as consumer surplus falls. On the other hand if the new firm provides better
quality services

29. Parviz Amin Quotes
Imagine that one day you had to leave behind everything you ve ever know. You
had to leave your family and your country because it was slowly falling apart and
you had no idea if you would ever get to see it again. How would you react? In the
novel Septembers of Shiraz this is exactly the situation Parviz Amin is dealing with.
His homeland, the country of Iranhas been overtaken by a group called the
Revolutionary guards. This group hates anyone and everyone who supported or
was related to the Shah which was the previous ruler of the country. It just so
happens Parviz s father meets that description and eventually is arrested by the same
group for being suspected of being a zionist spy. Parviz has to deal with all of this all
the way on the opposite side of the globe in New York Cityalong with his own issues
of just starting out his college life. His negative attitude about this whole situation
definitely isn t helping either. Parviz s pessimistic attitude and lack of beliefs
causes a strongly negative affect on his situation and his daily life. Parviz Amin is
a young adult starting college in New York City which is almost on the opposite
side of the world from his homeland of Iran. He is alone and staying with a strict
Jewish family called the Mendelsons who are very kind and understanding towards
him yet this doesn t stop their difference in viewpoints from interfering with their
relationship. It is shown clearly in the novel that Parviz isn t very interested in
religion which ends up preventing him from really interacting with The
mendelson s in the way they would like to. This is shown here when they ask
Parviz to join them in celebrating a Jewish holiday, He tells himself that no matter
how lonely he gets, he will not go so far as to persecute himself by sitting at their
table, celebrating a day that to him is no different than any other day (Sofer, 42).
Parviz shows many signs of loneliness throughout the book just like in this part but
the fact he doesn t realize is that he is the cause of all his loneliness. If he had
overlooked the fact it wasn t his religion and bonded with the family anyway he
would not be lonely. Not only does he almost force himself to be lonely he also feels
that his

The Pot Noodle was created because there was a niche in the market for a cheap

products in the market was the fact that it already came in a pot which you could

bringing out new flavours to keep their current customers happy and entice new
customers. Goods and services are produced by using productive resources which
are called factors of production. These are grouped into 4 categories which are
Land, Labor, Capital, Entrepreneurship. Land is another word for natural resources,
it includes land and other things such as water and air etc. This would include the
land that is used to grow the produce needed to make the noodles. Labor is the time
and effort that people put in to creating a product. It includes mental and physical
effort and the quality depends on knowledge and skill that people have from
training. In terms of labor in the Pot Noodle it would be people such as factory
workers, or produce harvesters. Capital are the tools and machines that businesses
use to produce their good. This would be any type of machinery or tools used in
harvesting or making the product. Entrepreneurship is the idea behind organising
land, labor and capital. Entrepreneurs come up with new ideas and make business
decisions. These would include people who come up with the new flavours and how
they market their product. I
31. Societal Standards Of Female Beauty
Media is something every female and male look to for guidance when it comes to
fashion, beauty, and information. Magazines and advertisements are used to help
women better themselves by giving information and products to make them look and
feel better (Serdar 1). Without magazines and advertisements there wouldn t be an
exact focus on beauty standards.. People would have the freedom to choose what
they like and what they consider beautiful instead of following the crowd.
Sociocultural standards of femalebeauty are in every aspect of popular media. Mass
medias use of unrealistic models sends the message that in order for a womanto be
beautiful, she must be unhealthy. Women are negatively affected by the constant
exposure to unrealistic media ideas of beauty (Serdar 1). Because women of the
American culture constantly compare themselves to models and actors, they push
themselves to diet and exercise in an unhealthy manner to achieve a goal that is
both bad for them physically and mentally. The ideal of beauty is a form of self
oppression. Women see themselves in pieces (Sontag 1). Because females are so self
observant of themselves they tend to put more attention on things that don t actually
need attention. Therefore, they feel as if their not as beautiful as a person they see
on television. Very small percent of women in western countries meet the criteria the
media uses to define beauty. So many women repeatedly exposed the media images
that send a message that
32. Positive And Negative Effects Of Being A Twin
The Effects of Being An Identical Twin
When people see a pair of twins they are many questions that they ask at first, and
they start to check how good the similarities are between each other. Twins are
always thought of something special and magical, now don t get me wrong it is
special because of the bond and relationship that they create between each other. Even
though just like any other thing it has its pros and cons.
The effects of being a twin is determined by more than a few factors, individuality,
physically, comparison, competition, Physiological and emotional. From the moment
twins are born, they are inseparable. They live together, have the same gender and
even look the same, however the effects of being identical twin has a long run effect
on their future of social relationships, allowing them to have a hard time finding
themselves as individuals. One of the effects twins must deal with as their growing up
is individualism, just because their twins and were born on the same day and share
same physical, and similarities. People tend to forget that their two different people
and they both often get treated as one person. They both are two different human
beings with separate goals, mindsets and different personality. The effect that causes
the same treatment to both can have a negatively impact on them by having an
impact in their self image and the ability to develop a strong self identity. One thing
that is important is that most of the twins have a strong

The European Central Bank (ECB) is the central bank for Europe s single currency,
the euro. The ECB s main objective is to maintain the euro s purchasing power, and
therefore price stability, in the euro area, which comprises of the nineteen European
Union countries that have introduced the euro currency since 1999 (ECB, 2015d).
The ECB and the national central banks of the Member States, whose currency is the
euro, together constitute the Eurosystem; the monetary authority of the euro area. In
order to maintain price stability, the Eurosystem undertakes the necessary economic
and monetary analyses and adopts and implements appropriate policies in order to
respond to monetary and financial developments (ECB, 2015e). This essay will
analyse the possible impacts of quantitative easing (QE), recently introduced by the
European Central Bank. Firstly, I will look at the European Central Bank s use of
interest rates in controlling the growth of the economy. Secondly, I will look at the
meaning and purpose of QE, and finally, I will analyse the impact of the programme
of QE recently launched by the European Central Bank.
The primary objective of the European Central Bank s monetary policy is to maintain

Humankind has come a long way since the beginning of time and the beginning
started in Africa. Anthropologists guess that we, Homo sapiens, come from other
animals such as chimpanzees since they are our neighboring relative. Many other
species arose in Africa as well and we all shared one thing and that was the ability
to walk up on two legs. As time went on, our brains grew larger and we started
migrating to other places such as Eurasia and started using tools. Ultimately, all of
the species died out and we were the only ones left because of all the struggles we
went through and the way we established settled societies. Where do we come from

There are many types of people who would fall under this category, but there has
been one that have been studied for a very long time and that is the Neanderthals.
There were these very tall people who had very strong thick bones and a very large
brain and lived in Eurasia. Neanderthals would often follow where animals were
migrating to since that was their main food source. They probably had very strong
thick bones so they could chew up an animal since that was mainly what they did
eat. They would sleep in caves and made fires to cook animals in. Many people
have this inception that Neanderthals were stupid, but in theory are actually very
intelligent. No one knows what happened to these people, they just disappeared.
The farming and herding communities planted seeds and domesticated animals.
This was called the agriculture era and it was not always easy. It depended on the
climate, soils and what kind of animals there were to be domesticated. This human
society planted grains such as corn and rice where they would eat from. Since this
society had a large amount of plants that they could feed from members barley

38. SPA Essay
Ajax can be used to develop SPA, but it has some issues with it: 1.Complexity:
Execution in any SPA requires DOM structure to be modified again and again
asynchronously in an HTML view. Controller is responsible for performing such
asynchronous operations and as the application grows large, controller itself
becomes complex. The complexity is also increased as developers tries to add more
features to existing application. So, for any changes in the view would also require
changes in controller as well which increases complexity. 2.Debugging: Any DOM
manipulations in the controller are also dependent on events in any HTML view.
There is tight coupling between view and controller which can makes it hard to test
and debug any application.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can also capture parameters passed in URI to be assigned to controller in use.
The controller can thus read the information from URI and make routing decisions
accordingly. 4.Directives Directives have the ability to add new functionalities to
the existing DOM. AngularJS has many built in directives such as ngApp,
ngController, ngBind etc. These directives have their own functionalities in the
AngularJS application. Developers can also create their own directives to add
new reusable components. Benefits of SPA: 1.Better User Experience: As Single
Page Applications (SPA) has single page only and part of the web page is refreshed
dynamically with minimum response time, SPA offers better user experience to
users. Unlike In traditional applications whole web page is reloaded completely
which is sometimes unnecessary and may even not feasible on slow network
connections. 2.Compatibility: SPA can be easily deployed on other platforms such as
mobile, Tablet or Desktop. Developer can reuse the same piece of code for web
version and mobile application also. 3.Easy deployment and version control:
Deployment in production server is very easy in case of SPA as there are separate
client and server logic. One can easily deploy at client part as only 3 files are
typically needed: a single page(.html), a CSS bundle, and a JavaScript bundle.
Rollback to previous version is also very easy in case of

difficulty swallowing, chest pain that radiates to the back, heartburn, sour taste in
mouth, hoarseness or sore throat, sensation of a lump in your throat, or a dry
cough. (Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research, 2014, para. 1).
GERD can be worse or aggravated by meals and by lying down. (Tindall et al., 2014,
p. 181). For acute cases... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
H2 receptors can help decrease the production of acid for up to 12 hours and can
provide a longer time of relief, although they don t work as quickly as antacids do.
(Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research, 2014, para. 2). Proton
pump inhibitors both block the production of acid as well as help heal the
esophagus. Prevacid 24 hr, Prilosec, and Zegrid are over the counter proton pump
inhibitors. Long term use of prescription dose of proton pump inhibitors can lead
to vitamin B12 deficiency and increased risk for bone fracture. (Mayo Foundation
for Medical Education and Research, 2014, para. 2). If symptoms have not
improved in 2 3 weeks while on medication or these medications are needed for 2 3
weeks, consult your doctor for further treatment. Sometimes GERD medications are
combined to increase effectiveness. For this particular patient I would start out with
lifestyle modifications which include: sleeping with extra pillows to elevate HOB;
avoid lying down, strenuous exercise, or bending down 3hrs after eating; maintain
an appropriate body weight; avoid spicy, acidic, or fatty foods; avoid chocolate,
peppermint, and citrus fruits and juices; Limit coffee, tea, and alcohol intake; avoid
overeating; avoid eating within 3hrs of going to bed; stop smoking . (Tindall et al.,
2014, p. 182). Then use the step up approach, starting with over the counter options
first as listed above. Do not use antacids
41. Swamp Thing Is A Horror
Just a few thoughts regarding the passing of filmmaker Wes Craven, who passed
away on Sunday.
I can never claim to me a horror genre aficionado, but as a fan of cinema, it would
be remiss of me to not recognize Craven s contribution an often dismissed genre.
While for many, horror may not qualify as high cinematic art, it should be
recognized that at its best, it s able to frighten audiences and leave a lasting
impression. And that he did in creating one of the most terrifying screen characters
Freddy Krueger a figure that is literally the stuff of (my) nightmares.
Here are a couple of additional titles that I quite enjoyed:
Swamp Thing (1982): Not technically a horror film, more sci fi; still, it provided its
own form of late night entertainment.
42. 1)Name The Ways That The U.S. Judiciary Is Restricted In
1)Name the ways that the U.S. judiciary is restricted in deciding cases. How do these
restrictions affect the legal environment?
The judiciary system is defined by Article III in the Constitution and Section 2
describes the powers and limitations that court system has. The purpose of the
judiciary is to handle interpretations of the laws created by the constitution and any
disputes that arises between parties, cases may be brought to the court, the court
cannot create cases. There are 3 levels in the court system, which is true for the
state judiciary as well as the Federal level. The two lower levels attempt resolve
issues while lessoning the burden on the supreme courts. The lowest level of court is
the district court aka trial courts, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once a judge has been appointed, their only source of input when making
decisions is the laws that were created. They are not supposed to be influenced by
outside forces, such as, media or politicians. Because of this there is a natural
buffer from decisions being my by majority rule and instead left up to the
individual judge. Since this is a check on a balance of power I see no issue with this
method, if there is an issue that rises they judge can be removed. So, this non
majority based system of power is a good compliment to the other two forms of
(mostly) majority institutions, the Congress and the Executive banches.
3)The way the U.S. Supreme Court uses judicial review varies between judicial
restraint and judicial activism. Discuss what both of these approaches seek to
achieve in deciding legal issues.
The approach of judicial restraint seeks to only act when there is a clear violation
of connotational law. The idea is that the way the constitution was written represents
a clearly defined law and that unless there is a compelling and glaring violation
based on fact not emotion or political view, that the law need not be reinterpreted .
When judicial activism is used the emotions and political views of the justices may
have influence over their decision making and rulings. The idea is that constitutional
law must be reviewed and reevaluated because each case is different and the law
being challenged must be
43. Mother To Son Tone
In the poem Mother to Son by renowned poet Langston Hughes, a beautiful
message of perseverance is delivered from a parent to a child. Life is not always
easy but through its journey does one really begin to learn who they really are.
This well written poem develops a picture for the reader as it walks you through
the eyes of a mother to her son. The mother does not come from much and has
experienced quite a bit of pain throughout her path. Far from being discouraged for
what life has laid out for her she remains optimistic as she provides words of
wisdom to her child. A message of strength through life s challenges one may face at
times is what makes you stronger rather than weak. A Mother s Pain? The underlying
tone of the
44. Sixteen Candles And The Breakfast Club Analysis
In Sixteen Candles and The breakfast club we see so much in common as well as
differences present. These 2 John Hughes movies were a big hit in the Directors
career, as well as Pretty in Pink but we are not discussing that movie. In these
movies we see a lot of themes crossed over that are explored in many different ways.
One of the main characters for both these movies was Molly Ringwald; we really
showed and expressed these ideals of her characters perfectly. There were many
themes that we can compare and contrast these movies. The 4 main themes that I
believe really made impacts on these shows are: rich vs. poor, popular or unpopular,
changing to fit the norm , and Common similarities between social classes. Hughes is
an amazing director that really captures these moments in each theme; he captures
them and presents them at the most unexpected times in the movies that fit perfectly.
In both Sixteen Candles and The breakfast club we are able to see how different
scenarios how the rich vs. poor is important in these movies, social class play and
important roles in each of these movies. In Sixteen Candles we see how everyone
hangs out with people who fit in these ideals. Jake and Caroline are seen as the rich
characters considering how they act when they are at the part. It seems like they
have no care in the world for any of the destruction taking place at all. Jake s house is
trashed and he don t really care. Then we see when Jake lets geek borrow his car
looking at Jake
45. The Devil And Tom Walker Greed
In the short story The Devil and Tom Walker by Washington Irving, various themes
are demonstrated the issue in even our society. One theme is greed, it is
demonstrated throughout the story, it begins where we are seeing how Tom lives
at the start of the story. Tom and his wife being so so greedy they even stole from
each other. It continues throughout the end when Tom has all these things but
doesn t even care of them to be able to save all his money. We can also see this is
true with other people, for example when the devil describes Peabody showing he
is greedy and that, that is going to kill him. Another theme we see is hypocrisy, we
see this throughout the story ass well. We begin wHere the devil is describing how
Peabody criticizes his neighbors yet does nothing about how he is. We also see
where Tom is going to church and helping all these people, giving advice, yet when
it comes down to it he is not doing anything about it and is actually stealing from
everyone. We even see this when they tell him he has been robbing people and he
says The Devil take me, if i have made a farthing , than when the devil does show up
we see he was being a hypocrite.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see this for example on how he brought back money to the town and helped
create businesses yet he ended up destroying these businesses by robbing the
people. We also see how Tom notices his mistakes and starts going to church and
carrying a pocket bible, etc. to protect himself. We see this when the devil comes at
the end for Tom, Tom is looking for his pocket bible that he forgot. This shows how
he, knows it was wrong, and how he went corrupted his
46. Case Study Of Union Carbide
Union carbide is the one that came up with the design for the Bhopal plant this plant
design was based on the design of West Virginia plant (the main plant in the USA it
also belonged to Union carbide).the major difference being that the Bhopal plant was
to store large amounts of methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas (very volatile) which is very
poisonous, the report ,submitted to the union carbide by a team of American experts
,points out major safety concerns at the Bhopal plant ,including deficiencies in
instrumentation , safety valves, lax maintance procedure, and high turnover of
operating and maintance stuff .both the union carbide and the Indian government did
not want to take responsibility for what had happened this resulted in less powerful
people being blamed (this people being engineers and managers).engineers working
at that plant failed to uphold the engineering ethics policy, thus eight employs
including the CEO of union carbide were charged with death by negligence , but
only the eight top officials of the Indian plant were convicted for this disaster, only
one top official was not charged (a chemical engineer by the surname of Bidwai ).

Not only what union carbide did was inhuman but they did not want to composite
the Indian people, the lawsuit was going to be expensive if held in the USA and
they stood to lose $ 5 billion but as the case being moved to India the company
cooked up a plan and executed it. By the end of 1985 union carbide had equity of $
700 million from $ 5 billion this was so that they could plea bankrupt and they
ended up paying $ 470 million to the Indian people while the shareholders of union
carbide had nothing much to lose and the assets of union carbide India Ltd were
taken by the Indian government
