Probably because I grew up in the church and lived in the church for the first 18
years of my life, though I witnessed so many people involved in the church
ministries, I did not realize what they did were part of the church ministry. I got
used to see people (young and old) who came to the church every Saturday
morning before 7 a.m. to clean the floor and wipe the pews. I knew that every
fourth Sunday morning, my mom would get up at 4:30 a.m. to prepare the wine
and unleavened bread for the Holy Communion. When our church was under
construction, in order to save money (actually because we did not money), all the
people in the church ran to the church whenever they were available to break down
the bricks and put them away carefully in order to reuse them. People who were in
their 70s, 80s to those who were in the elementary school all came to the church to
clean the construction waste. Though many of the church members were back to
the heaven, I still remember most of the people s faces and all the things we did
together even after 20 years. No one publicized what s/he did or reminded each
other that we were serving the church. We did all these as what we did for our own
family because the church was part of our lives. Therefore, when I think about
