they occur. By reading this guide to literature, one may gain a deeper understanding
of the work itself and of the author s intent in writing it. However, Foster s methods
can also be applied to films. A film that contains many of the various themes, models,

There are many interesting topics in Criminal Justice that can be discussed and are
relatable to my experience at the Lorain/Medina Community Based Correctional
Facility, but I thought that perhaps one of the most interesting ones to look at is
recidivism in the correctional system. It is also a commonality in other aspects of the

motivated lead. The opening transition word could throw a reader in the opposite
direction Rankin would have hoped for. The beginning paragraphs poor lead could
cause one to become lost before the revelation of thesis which makes a poor asset to
novice readers.
With the opening word Although (Rankin, p. 234) would make sense if a complete
thought was presented prior. It leaves one to ask, what this complete though could be.
With this lingering thought of what was the original, paves the way for a very
complex sentence, which is still a continuation of the leading thought. Now for
someone venturing into the literary scene, to read a sentence of this magnitude,
could become hesitant to continue. Although, the composition of the first sentence

The poem of my chosen is: Hope is the thing with feathers by Emily Dickinson.
Birds are sometimes considered as symbols of spirituality and viewed as free and
self sustaining. In this poem, Dickinson describes a bird as a symbol of hope, that
inspirational power ever present in the soul, which prevails even when we are facing
the worst situations in life and have used all our resources and lost all our strength.
The storm imagery and the metaphor are the elements that bring out the theme of the
poem.
The first element that brings out the theme of this poem is the metaphor. Emily
Dickinson uses quotation marks for the word hope to mention its atypical use. In
Stanza 1: She introduces the metaphor in lines 1 2 then extends it throughout the

solutions and implications to reduce misconception and poor performance from older

revealed that older workers were as capable in performing as effectively as younger

Day s roles is to define the author s moral values as it relates to his feud with his

Prometheusand Pandora present in the two poems. In Works and Days, Hesiod
attempts to expose Perses s mistakes through the interaction of Prometheus and his

The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers
a block of material, such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the
inked surface in the form of a design. Once that is done, they lay paper over the
block with pressure so that the ink is shared generously all over the paper. When
the paper is removed, the design will have been transferred and they will have the
finished artwork. Using a block of wood is known as Woodcut Relief Printmaking, or
Woodcuts . There are also Wood Engravings, where a stronger type of wood is used
so an artist can engrave an image into the surface rather than cut it out. In my
opinion, the second step of the process could be left to remain as the art itself. In
the video showing the process as Lyell Castonguay created his piece, Hydra , I
thought the design in the ink coated wood looked more bold and real than the
actually piece. But this may only be for the reason that the finished product lacked
color in comparison. Of course, Lyell isn t the only artist who uses this printmaking
