Mutual Relationships With Mutual Relationship
There is a lot of different opinions when it comes to having a mutual relationship
with a male and female without it being anything more. Many believe that this is not
right because they feel as though that no man and woman could possibly be friends
without any feelings involved in the relationship. This view is often associated with
the person who has a significant other that has a close friend that is of the opposite sex
. Others who have friends that are of the opposite sex feel as though nothing is
wrong with it because they are used to it. I feel as though this topic is rooted to the
fact that it is only for the people that are mature, it is important for people on both
sides to be mature and have clear intentions with both the friend... Show more content

However, people argue that a heterosexual male and female couldn t be friends
because it often ends with them starting a relationship even if they were friends with
the person while they had a significant other. I have also seen this happen where a
friend of mines was friends with a girl that had a boyfriend and he also had a
girlfriend but now they were so close that their friendship has turned into a
relationship. I feel as though if everyone knows the other persons intention it will be
less difficult, even though sometimes their intentions often change.
Communicating with a person of the opposite sex about how you feel emotionally
often helps because something you would not feel comfortable with just venting to
the same sex. Although men seem strong and nothing ever phases them it is
important to have a friend for emotional support. Often men go through things that
hit them emotionally and it is better to have a female to vent to rather than another
male. This is shown when someone loses a family or a tragic situation of that sort,
sure your buddies can give you a word of encouragement but to tell someone how
you feel deep down inside it is helpful to have a female to talk to. Often women are
more comfortable to talk to than a guy about something a male is going through on
an emotional level. Emotionally, females feel as though men create a safer
environment because often times it is hard for them to trust their
Summary Of The Windhover By Gerard Manley Hopkins
The Windhover Explication Gerard Manley Hopkins, The Windhover, has been
described as one of the most challenging poems to explicate, so with my limited
knowledge I will attempt to do this correctly and disagree with professors who
have studied this poem far longer than I have. The breaking of the word kingdom
between line 1 and 2 is meaningful. The falcon is described as both morning s
minion and king. If the break were after dom there would have been less exaltation
of the falcon, which Hopkins sets up by using the dynamic verb caught, which
implies spontaneity, joy, and delight, instead of a more mundane verb like view or
note. The division of the word kingdom also allows for two simultaneous
interpretations of the first two lines. The first interpretation being that the falcon
is the kingdom, and the other being that the falcon is the dauphin of the dom(e) of
daylight (Rudanko 176). For the sequence dapple dawn drawn sequence Rudanko
proposes 4 possible ways of interpretation based on previous literary analysis and
his own which are as follows: (1) The falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. (2)
The falcon is sketched against the dappled dawn. (3) The dappled falcon is
attracted by the dawn. (4) The dappled falcon is sketched in silhouette against the
dawn (Rudanko 176). However, immediately following this sequence the falcon is
described as riding therefore it is not plausible that 2 or 4 are accurate
interpretations of the sequence given that the dappling of the bird would be
imperceptible if he were to be silhouetted and that if the dawn is dappled there
would be enough light in the rest of the sky to illuminate the bird enough for it to
not just appear as a silhouette. The only question left to answer is then, is the sky
dappled or is the bird? When the poem is read aloud, as Hopkins intended with his
works, the most natural way of hearing it is that the dawn is dappled. Hopkins has
also described the sky as being dappled in other poems such as Pied Beauty, leading
to the conclusion that option 1 is the way in which the sequence should be read, that
the falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. There is much less ambiguity over the
line, Of the rolling level underneath him steady air,
The Dire Wolf
The Dire Wolf
The species that is known as the dire wolf is a large and powerful ancestor of
modern wolves and dogs which is now extinct. It has, however, left a rich legacy in
myths and legends across many northern countries where it once roamed as one of
the most feared predators of all time. This paper traces the way that the dire wolf
has been represented in myths and legends of the past, and also in the stories, films
and computer video games of the modern world. The exact species which gave rise
to all the legends is the Canis dirus and it lived in the Pleistocene Epoch (2.6 million
to 11.700 years ago) in both North and South America (Encyclopaedia Britannica,
2012, p. 1). It was considerably larger than the modern gray wolf, ... Show more

This game shows the dire wolf as both a fearful enemy and a loyal fighter in battle,
and this reflects an appreciation of its qualities to contribute towards good or evil
outcomes. In the music genre, the band Grateful Dead immortalized the dire wolf as
six hundred pounds of sin which was grinning outside the window at a hard
drinking, hard gambling man. The chorus of the song don t murder me implies that
the dire wolf has come to take the man s life. The dire wolf symbolizes all the wrong
that a person has done in the past, and the likelihood that cruel retribution will come
one day. These examples outlined above have shown that the dire wolf has
maintained its fascination for human beings long after its extinction. Its combination
of force, cruelty and cunning, along with enormous size, and tendency to roam in
packs serve as an example of power even in very harsh conditions. It has connotations
of majesty, and also cruelty, especially when dealing out justice and revenge. Even in
the twenty first century it has the power to cast fear into our modern imagination.

Examples Of Political Zionism
When it comes to Zionism, it is the belief that the Jews constitute a nation and that
they deserve the rights of other such groups, including the freedom to return to what
they consider their ancestral homeland, the land of Israel. When it comes to Political
Zionism, it is the belief that Jews should form and maintain a state for themselves.
Every Jew does not consider themselves a Zionist; some identify solely with the

other hand, not every Zionist is a Jew; some Christians believe that the restoration of

Darwin s Influence On Sir Francis Galton
Sir Francis Galton was, by in large part, a product of his environment. Through his
family, Galton was well connected he came from a wealthy, upper class, lineage of
academics. Having inherited a large sum of money, Galton was able to explore a
variety of endeavours before making his mark on modern day psychology
(Goodwin, 2012, p.151). Galton excelled in the fields of geography, exploration,
meteorology, and science; it was not until Galton s half cousin Darwin wrote his
1859 book on evolution that inspired his interest in psychology (pp.151 152).
Darwin was, unequivocally, Galton s most notable relative and someone from
whom he drew large inspiration. Darwin became influenced by economist Thomas
Malthus who recognized, that life is a constant struggle for existence and only
those best suited for survival will do so (Goodwin, 2012, p. 135). Malthus
aforementioned belief was one that Darwin observed during his expedition on the
Beagle Darwin s ship. Darwin recognizes that the finches he had studied during his
voyage to the Galapagos islands varied from each other depending on island
location and available food sources; he also notes that these variations assist the
finches in survival (i.e. different beak shape to forage a specific food, stronger
beaks) (p. 136). The concept that grew from Darwin s initial findings was the concept
of natural selection. Natural selection is defined as the natural process in which those
that are better adapted to their environment
The Initiative Of The Pathways Programs Essay
Achieving goals on the roadway to twenty first century jobs is the initiative of the
Pathways Programs. These programs help high school students and adults achieve a
college bond high school diploma or equivalent, and technical skills that will build a
career and educational pathway. Community Colleges work toward partnerships with
K 12 schools, the private sector, government, higher educationand other entities as
one cohesive unit, preparing students for industry occupations and furthering
educational opportunities for students. (Campbell, 2012) These benefits go beyond
the individual affecting the colleges, communities and workforce needs of local
industries.
The changing tide in colleges from the traditional 18 24 year old students to the non
traditional student that attends school and works or re trains for career advancement
works well with Pathway Programs. All students should leave high school with a
college ready diploma even if they choose a technical or trade career, recognized as
one of the goals of the Common Core State Standards. (Campbell, 2012) Pell Grants
are available for adults entering the Career Pathways programs making college
success easier and the early numbers are showing an upward trend in retention to
graduation rates for adult learners in these programs. (Jobs for the Future, n.d.)
The integration of Common State Standards and Common Career Technical Core
readies students for the workforce and community technical colleges. (Pahlow
Rock Concept Album
Am pretty sure my admiration for progressive rock concept albums started back
when I started seriously getting into collecting record albums. As a kid in my
single digits, I had 45 s (singles) and whatever else one not quite a teenager yet
would have, including the first Partridge Family album (1970). To my credit, I was
never interested in what pop songs The Brady Bunch was putting out, but I ll
admit I did have a boyhood crush on Marcia (Maureen McCormick). Along came
my teen years. From hanging out with my friends, and sometimes their older
siblings, I became exposed to more of what they were playing on the FM radio
stations, then the AM ones. Rock n Roll was my thing. To this day, which it
primarily still is. My first real rock album;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My only regret is that at least on one track, that it don t rock out just a tad harder.
For I know Leon and company are more than capable. But it s cool. We do have lots
of rock moments mixed in with the more mellow stuff. Hard to complain. Besides
that, I can t say enough good words about the overall concept story approach. A
solid futuristic, apocalyptic tale that inspires intelligent thought. I strongly
recommend paying the extra money and getting the physical CD. It really
compliments what you ll hear, as far as packaging. The artwork / photography
stands out. Comes with a very well done booklet, that includes the story in written
form, plus comic book illustrations. I would love to see this done like an old school
vinyl album. I imagine it would even come with a poster, and a few stickers. I can t
say enough ... this is really, really well done! Okay to buy the download as well. It is
the music here that I find most important. The rest is icing on the
How Did The Renaissance Contribute To The Development
Of...
Medicine has become so advanced in the previous centuries that it is a wonder how
the medical discoveries of today have been fueled by those made during the
Renaissance. As the mindset of those living in Europe during that time changed
from religion to self discovery, medical research began to expand and grow to a
more scientific approach. Though several were unable to read, they became more
aware of themselves and humanity compared to their earlier religious views on life,
causing them to take a closer look at the human anatomy. During the English
Renaissance, physicians began to advance the scientific study of medicineleading to
the development of modern medical practices, and making a more profound impact
than previous eras.

The citizens of today are living well beyond their fifties, and some are even living
past their nineties. As more and more citizens began to discover different aspects of
life, their approach to medicine began to change as it neared the end of the Medieval
Era.
Though the Church still controlled most hospitals, physicians began to research and
experiment with human anatomy. Before, dissections would be made using animals
instead of humans. Soon their practices were dispelled by a physician, Andreas
Vesalius. Vesalius conducted his own anatomical dissections on human cadavers
and found that Galen s teaching [...] did not always apply to humans (Shane 26).
At the time, dissecting a human was against the word of God, to do so would be
unholy. The Church began to reconsider after Vesalius findings but they still did
not allow the dissection of God fearing bodies. Instead, they allowed for the use of
criminal bodies once they were executed, or even while they were still alive as a
source of torture ( History of Medicine 2011). Though some may see the practice as
inhumane, it opened up many windows for physicians, giving them a chance to go
against the Church but still being able to live with the word of God.
During the early modern period, hospitals in Europe s urban centers [...] came under
the control of nonreligious groups[...] At the same time, more positive ideas of
keeping a person s good health and being cured of sickness suggested that illness was
Alcohol Effect On Fetus Essay
The Effects Alcohol Can Do to your Fetus
Psychoactive drugs can not only act on the nervous system, but it can also change
your moods and modify perceptions (Santrock). Psychoactive drugs can range from
consuming caffeine products to taking methamphetamine; but alcohol can be
devastating on the mother s offspring. Alcohol can cause abnormalities, disabilities,
and deformities to the fetus when the mother consumes a heavy amount of alcohol.
Any form of alcohol can leave a bad affect on the fetus, but it will not get better
throughout the child s life. Before getting into detail, the first major factor apart of
this problem is FASD. The textbook definition of FASD is, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum
Disorder is a cluster of abnormalities and problems that appears in the offspring of
mothers who drink alcohol heavily during pregnancy (Santrock). This disorder
causes some abnormal facial and body characteristics such as: a smooth ridge

If the mother drinks a lot of alcohol during each time she is pregnant, at least one
child or none at all with had FASD (Santrock). When the mother drinks a heavy or
light amount of alcohol, it can cause many negative effects to the fetus such as
miscarriages and stillbirths. It can also range of lifelong physical, behavioral, and
intellectual disabilities ( Alcohol ). Studies show that drinking 1 or 2 servings of
alcohol a week will damage the fetus s development of the brain. Although, drinking
small servings a week will not cause FASD. According to the National Institutes of
Care and Health Excellence in Great Britain, they have concluded that, It is safe to
consume one to two drinks not more than twice a week during pregnancy . The U.S.
Surgeon General disagrees with that statement because they said, We recommend that
no alcohol be consumed during pregnancy
What Are The Early Natives Of North America
The early natives of North America can be divided between six different regions that
they lived in. The regions were easily designated by the different environmental
conditions and resources found in those areas. The regions were known as the
Eastern Woodlands, the Plains, the Southwest, the Northwest Coast, the Arctic and
the Sub Arctic. Each region provided a different set of challenges that help shape the
people that lived there (Harcourt, 2009). In order to survive prior to the arrival of the
European settlers the native people of North Americahad to adapt to their
environment and use what it could provide or they would parish. Each region
provided what the people needed in many different forms. If the people were able to

Women were very important in Iroquois society. Women selected the chiefs and
could become council members as well If the women did not like a decision that the
men made they could reverse that decision (Cipriano, 2003). The women also took
care of the farming and the men would go out to fish and hunt.
The Iroquois were able to get their food from and mixture of hunting, gathering and
growing their own food. Over half of their diet was made up of the animals and
fish they got hunting and fishing. So it was important for them to live near the
rivers and lakes and also have an understanding of the forest. Without those sources
of food they might not have survived. But they did grow food to eat and it
consisted of maize, beans and squash. They had established a pattern of using a
field until it was no longer fertile and would slash and burn the next field. They
would follow this pattern until the fields were so far away that they had to move
the village so it would be close to the fields again (Oswalt, 2005).
What the forest could provide led the Iroquois to invent Lacrosse and at times they
would play it all day. They used the natural resources around them, they used
hickory for their sticks and a made a ball from the hair and leather of a deer
(Cipriano, 2003).
The forest provided most of what the Iroquois needed to eat and also provided the
means for them to play. It also provided them
Criminal Trial Case Study
1. The trial from my perspective was that I was the only male jury member in the
trial and that was unique because the jury was full of girls with their opinions and
I had mine and I thought it was going to a biased trial but it turned out well as we
were working fine with each other and were not fighting based on opinions and that
influenced my view on the trial because it wasn t as biased as I thought. 2.I think the
consent law is not fair to both parties because if there are drugs and alcohol then it
impaired their judgement and the blame show be placed on the initiator and the
victim depending on the situation because both parties should be responsible for their
action but if there was anything done by the initiator than the blame goes
Run Carlos Run Documentary Analysis
This event consisted of a screening of Run Carlos Run, a documentary about a man s
journey and full run from Brooklyn, NY, to his hometown in Costa Mesa, CA. In
total, Carlos ran about 3,000 miles in this journey. The focus of this screening was to
exemplify the stories of Americans throughout Carlos run along with Carlos personal
narrative. The film focused on Carlos running from state to state along with filming
around thirty interviews. Each interview was completely different from one another.
They filmed individuals, families, townspeople, couples, other runners, and people of
all diversities along the journey. With each interview and city he ran through, Carlos
and his team learned about the way American s dealt with victories and struggles.
During the screening, there were two concepts that I saw recurring: national identity
and gender performativity. National identity stood out immediately. Carlos was born
in Mexico and traveled to the United Stateswith his parents at the age of four. To
this day, Carlos still lives here in the U.S. because he has a Visa. He is not a citizen
of the U.S. and therefore, does not have the same privileges as citizens. His national
identity is stripped not only through laws of the U.S. but also socially. As a Mexican

The repetition of Carlos running through the states and preparing his body for each
run is an example of doing gender in terms of a male. The way he acts and moves
throughout the film communicates that he is masculine. It makes sense why a man
would decide to take on this journey physically, but not so much for a woman
because of the social norms that are internalized within everyone. Carlos performs
his gender on a daily basis, an example of constructed gender identity. This may not
be noticed in the film to many, but through a critical gender lens, one can see that
this socially internalized gender role is being exercised in the
Implications Of Domestic Abuse On Women
Implications of Domestic Abuse on Women
In a broad sense, domestic abuse is a set of problems related to family violence.
Domestic violence is characterized by a pattern of violent or abusive behavior by
one person in a domestic context against another, such as in a marriage or
cohabitation (Paul, 2004). Domestic abuse can negatively affect anyone in any
culture, age, race, and gender. Intimate partner violence is a type of violence that falls
under domestic violence (Roberts, 2008). Other types of domestic violence include
but are not limited to parent abuse, child abuse, child sexual abuse, elder abuse, and
sibling violence.
Men battering women is among the most obscure yet prevalent crimes today (Paul,
2004). Solely being a woman poses one of the greatest risks for becoming a
domestic violence victim. Other factors such as age younger versus older women;
partnership status separated, divorced, or cohabiting partners; socioeconomic status
low versus high income; and education contribute to the risk one may experience
(Davies, 2008). Research has shown that women are more likely than men to be
abused by their intimate partners. Furthermore, studies show that each year, millions
of women are estimated to be physically abused. However, physical abuse is not the
only kind of violence victims experience (Paul, 2004). Oftentimes, abusers also use
sexual, emotional, and verbal abuse towards their victims. In addition, abusers gain
power and control by economically depriving
We By Yevgeny Zamyatin And The Island Of Dr. Moreau
Deep literature analysis provides insight in understanding all of the differences and
similarities between two cultures. Slavic and Western culture have been seen as
direct opposites throughout the 20th century due to the cold war. But how different
are these cultures exactly? The novel We by Yevgeny Zamyatin and The Island of Dr.
Moreau by H.G. Wells explores the philosophy behind human nature, ethics, and
society. These sci fi works have similar themes, but the differences in how they
approach them can be related to their specific culture. This is shown through the use
of comparing humans to animals and machines, the impact of control on the human
mind, the way surveillance affects society, different states of consciousness, religious
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The repetition of the none escape furthers this idea. Control is another mechanism
used to dominate the human s behavior. In the United State, the societal
governmental faction in We is said to control the two main qualities of humans which
are hunger and love. This statement is proven by The Tables and the designated
tickets to be able to have sex. Throughout We, D 503 becomes more individualistic
the less he allows complete control over his life. As the novel progresses, the journal
entries become smaller in length. As D 503 becomes more aware of his emotions, he
is not able to express his thoughts. This results in less writing and less mathematical
analogies that are prevalent throughout the novel. This shows that the less control that
is being placed in the government will result in the loss of human mechanization.
Control also plays a large role in The Island of Dr. Moreau. Dr. Moreau tries to
maintain the creatures human behaviors through the use of control. A similar pattern
is seen in The Island of Dr. Moreau because the more the humanoids rebel against Dr.
Moreau s command, the more they revert back to their animal instincts. The turning
point in the novel is when Prendrick plants the seeds of rebellion by having the
humanoids question Montgomery s authority and having an indifference to him.
Although there are many similarities between the two novels, they both view the

Basket making was normally done by the elders of the tribe. The elders would sit
around large fires weaving baskets and singing ancient songs or prayers. Phillip
Martin said, The baskets were made out of any materials found in the area. The
most common material used was tall grass (Martin 1). The baskets can be found in
various sizes and different configurations. While in the Hall of the Tribes we found
a basket that was taller than a fully grown man. The basket was made out of tall
grass and weighed well over one hundred pounds. In order to color a basket tall
grass would have to be cut and dried on drying racks. After the grass was dried
baskets would be decorated with dye. In order to dye a basket a particular color
different herbs, fruit berries, flowers, grasses of color, and certain species of trees
were selected to make the different dye colors. The materials used for dye were
then crushed or pulverized into powder and made into paste or liquid paint. After
the dye paint was made the tall grass was soaked in the desired color and again
placed on drying racks. Weavers then selected the desired color stained grass and
wove it into their baskets. After we departed the Hall of Tribes, we ventured out into
the surrounding snow covered grounds to see the ancient structures and ceremonial
dwellings that were also painted with the same colors and patterns as used on

Speech Pathologist Personal Statement
Most people typically have an event or experience in their life when they know
what they want to do as a career. For me, this event occurred when I was six years
old as I was enrolled in speech therapy. Over the next five years, I went to speech
therapy twice a week to alleviate an articulation error. I began to understand the
affect speech therapy had on my life as I entered middle school and high school.
While I was in speech, I was very reserved and lacked confidence; however, after
completing speech therapy, I suddenly had the confidence to be a part of
extracurricular activities, such as cheerleading and student council. My desire to
become a speech language pathologist was solidified when I was thirteen. At that
time, my grandfather... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This resulted from my acceptance into the Honors Transfer Fellows program as a

research on narrative performance in older adults with and without cognitive or
nervous system disorders. Specifically, I wanted to evaluate multiple aspects of
narrative quality, such as story length, cohesion, relevancy, dysfluencies, and lexical
diversity, when based off different stimuli and at different ages. Furthermore, I had
many additional opportunities through completing this project. I was selected to be
a URECA scholar and awarded a grant to complete my research. I was also accepted

Debra Actus Reus Of Murder
LL4002 Criminal Law,Feb.Start
Though there is no definite definition of Murder but according to Lord Justice Coke,
is the unlawful killing of a reasonable creature in rerum natura under the King s

The prosecution would be able to prove Debra committed the actus reus of murder by
causing grievous bodily harm. In this question, Debra inflicts unlawful harm by
slamming the frying pan on Viktor s head, which is the actus reus of murder.
Debra has factual and legal cause of Viktor s death. But for her actions, he would
not have died in (White [1910]2, KB 124). Her actions were operating and
substantial cause of his death (Smith [1959]2, QB 35). Debra is legally liable for the

The Effects Of Social Cognitive Theory On The Behavior
Of...
Natural environments and outdoor settings are common places people go when
they want to relax or temporarily escape life s problems. Most often, when choosing
where to vacation, people commonly select a destination with picturesque sceneries
or serene landscapes. For this reason, natural outdoor settings seem like an ideal
place to incorporate recreational therapy activities for those with physical and
mental health issues. Recreational therapists should consider several aspects of their
patients lives when creating these outdoor therapy programs. This paper explores
the social cognitive theory and the behavioral, personal, and environmental
constructs that affect the behavior of veterans with PTSD and other psychological
health issues. There will be a brief discussion regarding the details of the study as
well as the author s findings. In particular, the role of the environment on one s
behavior will be examined. The social cognitive theory is a social psychologytheory
created by Albert Bandura that stems from the social learning theory. Social cognitive
theory suggests that there are multiple factors that shape and affect the behavior of an
individual. Personal, behavioral, and environmental factors can influence each other
and influence how an individual behaves. The hypothesis for this study was that
nature based leisure experiences would benefit military veterans by improving
psychological well being, social functioning, and life outlook. Various military
Gulliver s Search for an Identity Essay
Gulliver s Travels is a novel that touches on many subjects. One of the lesser points
discussed is how Gulliver seems to be searching for acceptance and for his identity
on his many journeys. Upon entering any of these strange foreign lands, Gulliver
makes it a point to learn the language. This is because knowing the language of a
foreign land is a crucial part to your acceptance in that country. Another thing that
Gulliver adapts in each of these foreign places is their manner of dress. Great pains
are taken in each country to dress Gulliver in the kingdoms latest fashions. While on
his journeys, Gulliver tried his part in many roles to find one that fit him and would
grant him acceptance with the peoples of each land. I will... Show more content on

Physical Description Of The Red Foxes

Introduction
This essay is going to involve with the following points (1) Origin and history of the
red foxes. The foxes belong to Canidae(YUAN,2017).They live around the world
except in Antarctica and Southeast Asia(YUAN,2017).The red fox is the most seen
of all fox species and they come from smaller sized ancestors from
Eurasia.(YUAN,2017). Red fox is found in a wide kind of habitats, including forests,

Red fox is found in a wide kind of habitats, including forests, hills, desert, and

consisted of patches of forests and other land use types. The red foxes adopt to
human environment, developing in areas with farms and woods, and populations
can be found in a lot of big cities, suburbs, and other urban(The Editors of

animal, it can hear low frequency sounds very clearly (YUAN,2017).So it can hear
small mammals digging underground and catch them(YUAN,2017). The diets of
red fox are complex, made up of mice, voles and rabbits. It also eats fruits, berries and

Halogenated Organic Compounds Used as Flame Retardants
Among all the different types of flame retardants, halogenated organic compounds are
most commonly used in flame retardant industry. These halogenated organic
compounds contain bromine or chlorine attached to their carbon atoms. Major uses of
theses flame retardants by volume in United States are():
пѓ Electronics
пѓ Building Insulation
пѓ Polyurethane Foam
пѓ Wires and Cables
Out of all the flame retardants, the brominated flame retardants are used extensively
used in the market because of their high performance efficiency and low cost(). There
are 75 different types of brominated flame retardants which are recognized
commercially. On the basis of highest production volume, the five major brominated
flame retardants with their properties are classified as:
A) Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBA) Chemical Structure:
It is mainly used as a reactive in products such as printed circuit boards, but could
be also found as an reactive in several polymers. It is highly lipophilic and therefore
has a low water solubility. Most of the Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBA) is excreted in
bile with little retained in tissues().
Health effects of Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBA):
пѓ The oral lethal dose LD50 is approximately 5g/kg in rats and therefore it has low
acute toxicity().
пѓ It inhibits the activation of T cells which directly affects immune system.
Therefore, it is considered as immunotoxic.
пѓ It is hepatotoxic as it destroys mitochondria by uncoupling oxidative
phosphorylation. Additionally,
Stormwater Contaminants
The road s surface will generate stormwater that will contain contaminants such as
hydrocarbons and heavy metals. The stormwater will be treated and directed into 6
wetlands, where the contaminants will be diluted and discharged directly into the
Marine environment. Although the contaminants will be diluted, the concentrations
of them in the receiving environments will gradually increase. There is likely to be
adverse effects on the affected environments due to the new source of contaminants.
The amount of contaminants has not been evaluated and the effects will be
determined by how effective the treatment of the stormwateris. The contaminants
could potentially result in the loss of some susceptible macroinvertebrates (Boffa
Miskell, 2014).
The Gold Rush Of California
Gold is a very precious metal that with in any community is pressed very highly.
To a surprise to several, after the United States won California from Mexico. A land
owner had found several pieces of gold along the river bed of the San Francisco.
Circumstances lead to this land owner not wanting to reveal this information to the
world. Nevertheless, the information was spread so began the Gold Rush in
California. This magnificent event gave light to great change but was it the right
move for progress and growth for the new founded country the United States.

However the turning point was the way the environment was being effected by the
means of destroying the land to get to the gold dug into the ground. Over all the
gold rush was looked at as a great passage in the right direction for developing a
modern world but it ended up leading us back, words, back into an era where
monarchy rules the world. The daily life of a miner was far from perfect. The way
the papers and other means of propaganda had portrayed getting rich quick, but it
was far from easy. All the equipment that was needed to start out as a miner was for
the most part outrageous. The earning wages from gold was sixteen dollars an
ounce pg.8. Even so, the work was backbreaking. There was swarms of minors
trying to get rich quick. To many miners that traveled to get a piece of the precious
metal they where resorted to taking land from previous land owner just to get
ahead in the Gold Rush. Not to mention that the living conditions where also
outrageous. The rentals of hotels and other business structures, whether of boards
or of canvas, reached even dizzier heights than did commodity prices pg.8. This
spaces where set prices at 3,000 dollars a month or 40,000 dollars for a year, there
was also other prices around the area of San Francisco. And in some cases miners
where resorted to living in a room filled to the brim with other miners. This lead to
very poor conditions for any one to live in. But nothing was better then being rich in

Benjamin Martin, A French And Indian War
Benjamin Martin is a French and Indian War veteran who now lives in his farm in
South Carolina in 1777 with his 7 children. He receives an invitation to attend a
Congress in Charleston where he refuses to cast a vote in favor of South Carolina
joining the war. The Congress however votes to join the war against the British and
his oldest son, Gabriel enlists in the Continental Army.
Two years into the war, the farm s fields become a battlefield and Benjamin decides
to treat the wounded, British and Continental Army soldiers, including his son
Gabriel. When Colonel Tavington and his troupes arrive, he captures Gabriel in
order to hang him for treason. His younger brother Thomas tries to intervene and is
killed by Colonel Tavington who then set the property on fire and leaves with
Gabriel. Benjamin devastated arms himself and his other two sons and successfully
ambush the British soldiers to free Gabriel. He then becomes a mythical figure named
the Ghost and the Continental Army put him in charge of a Militia.
While Benjamin and his militia are in charge of preventing the British to go further
North until the French troops arrive, his family are safe in Charleston with his late

The Is A Christian Believer
Arianne is a Christian believer who is going through her rebellious teenage years. She
believes her parents do not understand her. One night, after having an intense
argument with her mother about an unwise decision she was about to make, Arianne
went to bed. While sleeping, she dreamed about her taking the wrong path, which at
the end led to her own death. Arianne woke up scared, agitated, and confused. She
wondered if her dreamhad a meaning. Was Godtrying to tell her something, or it was
just because she went to bed upset? In the past, there were natural dreams, which
occurred only because of physiological needs or emotional states, and there were God
influenced dreams, which involved getting a message directly from God through
dreams,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example he provided was when the dreamer experienced a traumatic event such
as a rape, an attack, or an escape it is probable that person will dream with something
that will picture the emotion felt in that moment. Overall, the main idea of
HartmannВґs theory states that dreams occur through a series of connections that are
contextualized by emotion, and thus the dream s imagery depends on what the
person s emotions were that day before going to sleep.
On the other hand, there is not an exact or one percent proved explanation in
scientific terms on why or how dreams occur; however, many erudite have
developed theories on why they might happen. Many of them include an area of
our brain that activates the dream imagery while sleeping. Allan Hobson, Harvard
Medical School professor, stated in his activation synthesis model that as soon as
the dreamer enters REM sleep, which is the state where dreams are said to occur
the most, a signal of electrochemical pulse changes is sent out from the brainstem
and activates the dreamer s visual perception. After this signal is sent out, the
forebrain responds by putting significant effort in creating a gibberish story in the
dreamer s mind. Next, the limbic system, which is located in the forebrain and is
the one in charge of a person s emotional life, gets highly activated as well. This is
probably why dreams are said to be guided by emotions just as Hartmann believed. In
addition to that, when the dreamer goes to bed,
Life Is Life For Granted
Life is not lost by dying; life is lost minute by minute, day by dragging day, in all
the thousand small uncaring ways, Stephen Vincent BenГ©t. I believe life is way
too short to take for granted. There are all sorts of people in this world who most
definitely take their lives for granted. I think that they should just focus on one day
at a time and not plan too far in the future because they do not know what is going to
happen in the next minute. The main individual who taught me not to take my life
for granted was my Aunt Rita, who passed away from small cell lung cancerwhen I
was ten. Although it might not always feel like it, life is ridiculously short, it
probably would not mean much, or be worth much if it lasted forever, because it s so
short, with the limited time that you have, I recommend creating something
worthwhile, and if you dare, something amazing. I believe that people are supposed
to love the life that God has given them because at any moment it can change
dramatically right before their eyes and be changed for the rest of their life. No
one knows the exact feeling of life being too short, but some people have an idea
of what it feels like. Some people find out what life being too short feels like and
they don t figure this out until they have experienced something that is as terrible
as this. My life just happened to change when I was about ten years old, my sister,
nana, and papaw, and I went on our first vacation to Canada. As we started our
journey and about 50 miles in, we got a life changing call from my mom. My aunt
did not have much longer to live, and they said she wanted my nana there. So we
rushed to the hospital where we went to her room. There she laid in a hospital bed,
she was happy that we made it, but she knew her time was coming. She called my
papaw over and told him go take those kids on their vacation, she did not want to
ruin our vacation. So after a long night of thinking my sister and my papaw and I
headed out, while my nana stayed with her sister. Later that night when we were
all snuggled in our beds, we got a heart wrenching call. My aunt had passed away,
but she said she wanted us to keep going for her, because she loved to travel. On the

Mass Incarceration Of Minorities Essay
Many believe that the mass incarceration of minorities in the 1960 s and 70 s was
due to the racist legislative measures that were put into place. It is also believed that
racism is the catalyst behind the lopsided number of minorities in prison compared to
whites. I disagree with these beliefs because statistics show that minority groups
commit the majority of crimes in the United States. Many people assume that racist
legislation put into place in the 1960 s and 70 s led to the mass incarceration of the
minority groups. Since these acts have been put into place, the United States has been
named the country with the highest incarceration rate in the world, by an astounding
amount. Former president Barack Obamastates, The United States is home to 5
percent of the world population, but 25 percent of the world s prisoners. Think about
that. Barack Obama is insisting that citizens of the United states need to... Show more

In the video, it was apparent that there is a very lopsided number of minorities
compared to whites in prison due to the provided fact that black men account for
40.2% of the prison population, while only contributing to 6.5% of the United
States population. This percent is only one minority groups out of many more that
are in prison still to this day. It was also provided in the video that one in every
three African Americans are sent to prison once in their lifetime. This gives a basis
of the argument that race could play a role in the deciding of sentences in court. As
mention in the video, there is proof from cases that an African American have been
shown to serve longer sentences than whites for the same crimes. In short, there is a
lopsided number that has the background and statistics to show that there is a
possibility that racism did play a role in the lopsided

Importance Of Education In Athol Fugard s Tsotsi
Education can make or break someone s path of life and families can be split apart
for several reasons, for example, prison, war, divorce, etc. Tsotsi takes place in
Sophiatown, South Africa during December of 1960. During this time, many
families were struggling to stay in contact and it was rare that people had a high
level of education. In the novel Tsotsi, by Athol Fugard, lack of familyand illiteracy
are problematic aspects to this culture. Without family, people can become lonely
and lose sense of hope since they are not recieving the affection they need from a
parent. Education is needed to further one s life and help others. Although families
lost members and education was not a standard, knowing who you are and making
connections with people made your life feel more complete. If children grow up
without role models, they will lose their sense of direction in life. Usually, the role
models are their parents, and if the parents are young, their still growing up
themselves, making it harder to be the role models the children need. When Fugard
introduces Miriam Ngidi, a young motherin Sophiatown, she is described as, She
was eighteen years old and carried a baby on her back (130). Right outside Tsotsi s
window is where mothers in town met near the queue to fill their paraffin tins. Later
on, Tsotsi would ask Miriam to feed his baby and she becomes the cause of him
taking on the role of a father figure. Miriam s youth exhibits the cultural tradition of

Cameras, The Right Angle, And Camera Cameras
Cameras are to photographers as paints and brushers are to painters. With the right
angle, lighting, and composition, a photographer can turn a simple scene into a
work of art. Cameras capture moments that would otherwise be lost, and allows
them to be saved and shared. They create photos which reveal how beautiful life is;
they tell a wordless story. Each photographer has their own favorites, own style, and
own experiences which call for certain types of cameras. The most popular cameras
are Point and Shoot, DSLR, and SLR. The Point and Shoot is the simplest of all the
cameras. You just point the camera, and shoot the photo. Most use focus free lenses
or autofocus for focusing, automatic systems for setting the exposure options, and
have flash units built in. They are popular with people who do not consider
themselves photographers and just need a camera to document special events or
other daily things they want to remember or deem as photo worthy. Point and
Shoot cameras have several physical pros. They are very compact, so they re very
easy to just slip into one s pocket and carry anywhere. They are light weight and
don t require any excess accessories such as bags or tripods to carry it around. They
all come with fixed lenses, so you don t have to worry about changing lenses. They
have a massive depth of field which means that typically can t separate foreground
from background, bringing everything in focus and making the entire scene look
sharp. And, they are the
The Importance Of Traditional Values And Mother-
Daughter...
Every culture is different and so are the traditional values and the people. Cultures
have evolved throughout the years due to moving countries or just from one place to
another. Mother and daughter relationships are very special. No mother wants bad
for their kids. There are different parenting methods for every mother. No mother
daughter relationship will be the same. Somewhere down the line, relationships are
taken for granted because of living together for a long time with other family
members until a mishap happens and give us a new way to look at relationships.
Two kinds and everyday use are perfect examples that supports this issue. Both the
stories are based on family values and the mother daughter relationship. Two kinds

Alright, so Goodreads is something that you might want to check out. You might be
wondering what kinds of marketing opportunities are available to use on GoodReads.
Let s go over the opportunities.
Giveaways: This is the most popular marketing option for authors on Goodreads.
Giveaways draw a lot of attention and visibility, especially if you have an active
reader base.
Blog: Goodreads provides another avenue to sync your blog free of charge to spread
your message even further. Authors (and readers) can publish their reviews to their
WordPress blog. This is an opportunity to cut down on creating content for your blog
while also showcasing your interest in the genre of your target audience.
Promote your events: This option is particularly valuable if you are an author with a
book launch, book tours, and other events and an active audience (meaning people
who would be willing to come to an event). You can share these author events, free

Essay on Liberal Reforms of 1906-1914
Liberal Reforms of 1906 1914
From the turn of the 20th century, laissez faire (the policy of non intervention in
relation to social problems) became discredited. The same old problems of poverty
and ill health still remained.
The Liberal reforms of 1906 to 1914 are very important because they show a
marked change in government policy from a largely laissez faire approach to a more
collectivist approach. The government now accepted that it should have a much
larger role and responsibility in helping those sections of society who could not help
themselves.
In the latter part of the nineteenth century governments began to take tentative steps
towards the provision of basic welfare services, for ... Show more content on

This sum could be collected at the Post Office. A smaller amount was paid to slightly
higher earners. People who had an income greater than ВЈ31.50 per year received no
pension at all. Those who had habitually failed to work or who had been in prison
also received nothing.
The major criticism of this Act was that it did not go far enough. The money was not
enough to enable people to pay for the barest necessities and, although it helped, it
was not the answer to old age poverty. Also, many elderly people needed financial
help long before they reached 70 years of age. In fact most died before receiving a
pension.
Children s Charter
In 1906 the government allowed local authorities to provide free school meals for
poor children. In 1907 school medical inspections began, although it was not until
1912 that free medical treatment was available.
Social reformers blamed poverty for causing crime among the young people. There
was also the view that by sending young law breakers to adult prisons they would
simply learn how to be better criminals. As such, in 1908 juvenile courts and borstals
were set up.
These reforms, including forbidding the sale of cigarettes and alcohol to children
under 16 years of age, were given the name Children s Charter because it was
believed these measures would guarantee a better life for young people. However, the
Cyber- Terrorism and Information Warfare
The availability of cheap cyber weapons has made cyber terrorism a growing threat
to the stability of America s critical infrastructures and society in general. Needless to
say that cyber terrorism is a major issue for American policymakers and IT
professionals. The growing threat to commercial and government entities has
prompted organizations to develop effective strategies and methods to protect their
resources and assets from the threat of attackers. Such strategies and methods include
but are not limited to continual risk and vulnerability assessment, upgrade of
software and use of tools such as encryption, firewalls and intrusion detection
systems and the implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans
in the case of a cyber incident. The following paper will offer a few basic definitions
to illustrate the concept of cyber terrorism, discuss the physical and human aspects of
cyber terrorism, offer assessment of the most pressing threats and the most vulnerable
targets, recommend methods to combat national and international cyber terrorism.
Finally, several preventative actions will be recommended for implementation.
Finally, a basic checklist/template is also provided in order to better illustrate and
summarize recommendations and suggestions.
What is Cyber Terrorism and Information Warfare? In order to provide a better
conceptual understanding of the concept of cyber terrorism, consider the following

Nazi Party Propaganda Analysis
The main resource for recruitment into the American Nazi Party (ANP),
www.americannaziparty.com, is a space where systematics and ideals of the
American Nazi Party are gathered. The web page contains reasons to join, the Party
Platform, information on the founder, merchandise of their publications, and more.
However, much of this information is twisted. The common term for this type of
information is propaganda.A reader may expect any party or organization to use some
degree of propaganda to encourage its cause, but this site is especially polluted with
this indoctrination. Since this is the most accessible way to receive information about
the ANP, the image created through this website is very important to the potential
growth of the group.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But the Federation for American Immigration Reform reported in October of 2017
that only 12.5 million illegal immigrants are present in America today. Granted, there
is no exact science to calculating the illegal immigrant population, but no
government affiliated site has come up with numbers as high as 20 million
(Federation for American Immigration Reform). The ANP site claims that this
immigration increase will likely lead to low wages and cheap work for all people in
America, but no action is expected to be taken from the leaders of America s
capitalist government (American Nazi Party). But, the Pew Research Center recently
reported that the amount of illegal immigrants in the United States has steadily fallen
since 2009 (Passel). The Party states that citizenship laws also give legal immigrants
the right to bring all family, including extended members, into the States with them
easily, even without their own personal citizenship granted (American Nazi Party).
Despite the ability of immigrants to eventually bring family members to the States
with them, there is a process of petitioning and forms in order for these people to be
welcomed into the States legally. It is correct that they do not need to be documented
citizens, but the process required is aimed to eventually make these family members
legal (U.S. Department of Homeland Security). The

  • 2. Mutual Relationships With Mutual Relationship There is a lot of different opinions when it comes to having a mutual relationship with a male and female without it being anything more. Many believe that this is not right because they feel as though that no man and woman could possibly be friends without any feelings involved in the relationship. This view is often associated with the person who has a significant other that has a close friend that is of the opposite sex . Others who have friends that are of the opposite sex feel as though nothing is wrong with it because they are used to it. I feel as though this topic is rooted to the fact that it is only for the people that are mature, it is important for people on both sides to be mature and have clear intentions with both the friend... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, people argue that a heterosexual male and female couldn t be friends because it often ends with them starting a relationship even if they were friends with the person while they had a significant other. I have also seen this happen where a friend of mines was friends with a girl that had a boyfriend and he also had a girlfriend but now they were so close that their friendship has turned into a relationship. I feel as though if everyone knows the other persons intention it will be less difficult, even though sometimes their intentions often change. Communicating with a person of the opposite sex about how you feel emotionally often helps because something you would not feel comfortable with just venting to the same sex. Although men seem strong and nothing ever phases them it is important to have a friend for emotional support. Often men go through things that hit them emotionally and it is better to have a female to vent to rather than another male. This is shown when someone loses a family or a tragic situation of that sort, sure your buddies can give you a word of encouragement but to tell someone how you feel deep down inside it is helpful to have a female to talk to. Often women are more comfortable to talk to than a guy about something a male is going through on an emotional level. Emotionally, females feel as though men create a safer environment because often times it is hard for them to trust their
  • 3. Summary Of The Windhover By Gerard Manley Hopkins The Windhover Explication Gerard Manley Hopkins, The Windhover, has been described as one of the most challenging poems to explicate, so with my limited knowledge I will attempt to do this correctly and disagree with professors who have studied this poem far longer than I have. The breaking of the word kingdom between line 1 and 2 is meaningful. The falcon is described as both morning s minion and king. If the break were after dom there would have been less exaltation of the falcon, which Hopkins sets up by using the dynamic verb caught, which implies spontaneity, joy, and delight, instead of a more mundane verb like view or note. The division of the word kingdom also allows for two simultaneous interpretations of the first two lines. The first interpretation being that the falcon is the kingdom, and the other being that the falcon is the dauphin of the dom(e) of daylight (Rudanko 176). For the sequence dapple dawn drawn sequence Rudanko proposes 4 possible ways of interpretation based on previous literary analysis and his own which are as follows: (1) The falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. (2) The falcon is sketched against the dappled dawn. (3) The dappled falcon is attracted by the dawn. (4) The dappled falcon is sketched in silhouette against the dawn (Rudanko 176). However, immediately following this sequence the falcon is described as riding therefore it is not plausible that 2 or 4 are accurate interpretations of the sequence given that the dappling of the bird would be imperceptible if he were to be silhouetted and that if the dawn is dappled there would be enough light in the rest of the sky to illuminate the bird enough for it to not just appear as a silhouette. The only question left to answer is then, is the sky dappled or is the bird? When the poem is read aloud, as Hopkins intended with his works, the most natural way of hearing it is that the dawn is dappled. Hopkins has also described the sky as being dappled in other poems such as Pied Beauty, leading to the conclusion that option 1 is the way in which the sequence should be read, that the falcon is attracted by the dappled dawn. There is much less ambiguity over the line, Of the rolling level underneath him steady air,
  • 4. The Dire Wolf The Dire Wolf The species that is known as the dire wolf is a large and powerful ancestor of modern wolves and dogs which is now extinct. It has, however, left a rich legacy in myths and legends across many northern countries where it once roamed as one of the most feared predators of all time. This paper traces the way that the dire wolf has been represented in myths and legends of the past, and also in the stories, films and computer video games of the modern world. The exact species which gave rise to all the legends is the Canis dirus and it lived in the Pleistocene Epoch (2.6 million to 11.700 years ago) in both North and South America (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2012, p. 1). It was considerably larger than the modern gray wolf, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This game shows the dire wolf as both a fearful enemy and a loyal fighter in battle, and this reflects an appreciation of its qualities to contribute towards good or evil outcomes. In the music genre, the band Grateful Dead immortalized the dire wolf as six hundred pounds of sin which was grinning outside the window at a hard drinking, hard gambling man. The chorus of the song don t murder me implies that the dire wolf has come to take the man s life. The dire wolf symbolizes all the wrong that a person has done in the past, and the likelihood that cruel retribution will come one day. These examples outlined above have shown that the dire wolf has maintained its fascination for human beings long after its extinction. Its combination of force, cruelty and cunning, along with enormous size, and tendency to roam in packs serve as an example of power even in very harsh conditions. It has connotations of majesty, and also cruelty, especially when dealing out justice and revenge. Even in the twenty first century it has the power to cast fear into our modern imagination. • 7. Darwin s Influence On Sir Francis Galton Sir Francis Galton was, by in large part, a product of his environment. Through his family, Galton was well connected he came from a wealthy, upper class, lineage of academics. Having inherited a large sum of money, Galton was able to explore a variety of endeavours before making his mark on modern day psychology (Goodwin, 2012, p.151). Galton excelled in the fields of geography, exploration, meteorology, and science; it was not until Galton s half cousin Darwin wrote his 1859 book on evolution that inspired his interest in psychology (pp.151 152). Darwin was, unequivocally, Galton s most notable relative and someone from whom he drew large inspiration. Darwin became influenced by economist Thomas Malthus who recognized, that life is a constant struggle for existence and only those best suited for survival will do so (Goodwin, 2012, p. 135). Malthus aforementioned belief was one that Darwin observed during his expedition on the Beagle Darwin s ship. Darwin recognizes that the finches he had studied during his voyage to the Galapagos islands varied from each other depending on island location and available food sources; he also notes that these variations assist the finches in survival (i.e. different beak shape to forage a specific food, stronger beaks) (p. 136). The concept that grew from Darwin s initial findings was the concept of natural selection. Natural selection is defined as the natural process in which those that are better adapted to their environment
  • 8. The Initiative Of The Pathways Programs Essay Achieving goals on the roadway to twenty first century jobs is the initiative of the Pathways Programs. These programs help high school students and adults achieve a college bond high school diploma or equivalent, and technical skills that will build a career and educational pathway. Community Colleges work toward partnerships with K 12 schools, the private sector, government, higher educationand other entities as one cohesive unit, preparing students for industry occupations and furthering educational opportunities for students. (Campbell, 2012) These benefits go beyond the individual affecting the colleges, communities and workforce needs of local industries. The changing tide in colleges from the traditional 18 24 year old students to the non traditional student that attends school and works or re trains for career advancement works well with Pathway Programs. All students should leave high school with a college ready diploma even if they choose a technical or trade career, recognized as one of the goals of the Common Core State Standards. (Campbell, 2012) Pell Grants are available for adults entering the Career Pathways programs making college success easier and the early numbers are showing an upward trend in retention to graduation rates for adult learners in these programs. (Jobs for the Future, n.d.) The integration of Common State Standards and Common Career Technical Core readies students for the workforce and community technical colleges. (Pahlow

Medicine has become so advanced in the previous centuries that it is a wonder how the medical discoveries of today have been fueled by those made during the Renaissance. As more and more citizens began to discover different aspects of life, their approach to medicine began to change as it neared the end of the Medieval Era. Though the Church still controlled most hospitals, physicians began to research and experiment with human anatomy. Before, dissections would be made using animals instead of humans. Soon their practices were dispelled by a physician, Andreas Vesalius. Vesalius conducted his own anatomical dissections on human cadavers and found that Galen s teaching [...] did not always apply to humans (Shane 26). At the time, dissecting a human was against the word of God, to do so would be unholy. The Church began to reconsider after Vesalius findings but they still did not allow the dissection of God fearing bodies. Instead, they allowed for the use of criminal bodies once they were executed, or even while they were still alive as a source of torture ( History of Medicine 2011). The film focused on Carlos running from state to state along with filming around thirty interviews. Each interview was completely different from one another. They filmed individuals, families, townspeople, couples, other runners, and people of all diversities along the journey. With each interview and city he ran through, Carlos and his team learned about the way American s dealt with victories and struggles. During the screening, there were two concepts that I saw recurring: national identity and gender performativity. National identity stood out immediately. Carlos was born in Mexico and traveled to the United Stateswith his parents at the age of four. To this day, Carlos still lives here in the U.S. because he has a Visa. • 15. Implications Of Domestic Abuse On Women Implications of Domestic Abuse on Women In a broad sense, domestic abuse is a set of problems related to family violence. Domestic violence is characterized by a pattern of violent or abusive behavior by one person in a domestic context against another, such as in a marriage or cohabitation (Paul, 2004). Domestic abuse can negatively affect anyone in any culture, age, race, and gender. Intimate partner violence is a type of violence that falls under domestic violence (Roberts, 2008). Other types of domestic violence include but are not limited to parent abuse, child abuse, child sexual abuse, elder abuse, and sibling violence. Men battering women is among the most obscure yet prevalent crimes today (Paul, 2004). Solely being a woman poses one of the greatest risks for becoming a domestic violence victim. Other factors such as age younger versus older women; partnership status separated, divorced, or cohabiting partners; socioeconomic status low versus high income; and education contribute to the risk one may experience (Davies, 2008). Research has shown that women are more likely than men to be abused by their intimate partners. Furthermore, studies show that each year, millions of women are estimated to be physically abused. However, physical abuse is not the only kind of violence victims experience (Paul, 2004). Oftentimes, abusers also use sexual, emotional, and verbal abuse towards their victims. In addition, abusers gain power and control by economically depriving

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The repetition of the none escape furthers this idea. Control is another mechanism used to dominate the human s behavior. In the United State, the societal governmental faction in We is said to control the two main qualities of humans which are hunger and love. This statement is proven by The Tables and the designated tickets to be able to have sex. Throughout We, D 503 becomes more individualistic the less he allows complete control over his life. As the novel progresses, the journal entries become smaller in length. As D 503 becomes more aware of his emotions, he is not able to express his thoughts. This results in less writing and less mathematical analogies that are prevalent throughout the novel. This shows that the less control that is being placed in the government will result in the loss of human mechanization. Control also plays a large role in The Island of Dr. Moreau. Dr. Moreau tries to maintain the creatures human behaviors through the use of control. A similar pattern is seen in The Island of Dr. Moreau because the more the humanoids rebel against Dr. Moreau s command, the more they revert back to their animal instincts. The turning point in the novel is when Prendrick plants the seeds of rebellion by having the humanoids question Montgomery s authority and having an indifference to him. Health effects of Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBA): пѓ The oral lethal dose LD50 is approximately 5g/kg in rats and therefore it has low acute toxicity(). пѓ It inhibits the activation of T cells which directly affects immune system. Therefore, it is considered as immunotoxic. пѓ It is hepatotoxic as it destroys mitochondria by uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation. Additionally,

The daily life of a miner was far from perfect. The way the papers and other means of propaganda had portrayed getting rich quick, but it was far from easy. All the equipment that was needed to start out as a miner was for the most part outrageous. The earning wages from gold was sixteen dollars an ounce pg.8. Even so, the work was backbreaking. One night, after having an intense argument with her mother about an unwise decision she was about to make, Arianne went to bed. While sleeping, she dreamed about her taking the wrong path, which at the end led to her own death. Arianne woke up scared, agitated, and confused. She wondered if her dreamhad a meaning. Was Godtrying to tell her something, or it was just because she went to bed upset? In the past, there were natural dreams, which occurred only because of physiological needs or emotional states, and there were God influenced dreams, which involved getting a message directly from God through dreams,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example he provided was when the dreamer experienced a traumatic event such as a rape, an attack, or an escape it is probable that person will dream with something that will picture the emotion felt in that moment. Overall, the main idea of HartmannВґs theory states that dreams occur through a series of connections that are contextualized by emotion, and thus the dream s imagery depends on what the person s emotions were that day before going to sleep. On the other hand, there is not an exact or one percent proved explanation in scientific terms on why or how dreams occur; however, many erudite have developed theories on why they might happen. Many of them include an area of our brain that activates the dream imagery while sleeping. Allan Hobson, Harvard Medical School professor, stated in his activation synthesis model that as soon as the dreamer enters REM sleep, which is the state where dreams are said to occur the most, a signal of electrochemical pulse changes is sent out from the brainstem and activates the dreamer s visual perception. After this signal is sent out, the forebrain responds by putting significant effort in creating a gibberish story in the dreamer s mind. Next, the limbic system, which is located in the forebrain and is the one in charge of a person s emotional life, gets highly activated as well. This is probably why dreams are said to be guided by emotions just as Hartmann believed. In addition to that, when the dreamer goes to bed,
  • 31. Life Is Life For Granted Life is not lost by dying; life is lost minute by minute, day by dragging day, in all the thousand small uncaring ways, Stephen Vincent BenГ©t. I believe life is way too short to take for granted. There are all sorts of people in this world who most definitely take their lives for granted. I think that they should just focus on one day at a time and not plan too far in the future because they do not know what is going to happen in the next minute. The main individual who taught me not to take my life for granted was my Aunt Rita, who passed away from small cell lung cancerwhen I was ten. Although it might not always feel like it, life is ridiculously short, it probably would not mean much, or be worth much if it lasted forever, because it s so short, with the limited time that you have, I recommend creating something worthwhile, and if you dare, something amazing. I believe that people are supposed to love the life that God has given them because at any moment it can change dramatically right before their eyes and be changed for the rest of their life. No one knows the exact feeling of life being too short, but some people have an idea of what it feels like. Some people find out what life being too short feels like and they don t figure this out until they have experienced something that is as terrible as this. My life just happened to change when I was about ten years old, my sister, nana, and papaw, and I went on our first vacation to Canada. As we started our journey and about 50 miles in, we got a life changing call from my mom. My aunt did not have much longer to live, and they said she wanted my nana there. So we rushed to the hospital where we went to her room. There she laid in a hospital bed, she was happy that we made it, but she knew her time was coming. She called my papaw over and told him go take those kids on their vacation, she did not want to ruin our vacation. So after a long night of thinking my sister and my papaw and I headed out, while my nana stayed with her sister. Later that night when we were all snuggled in our beds, we got a heart wrenching call. My aunt had passed away, but she said she wanted us to keep going for her, because she loved to travel. On the long car ride home,
  • 32. Mass Incarceration Of Minorities Essay Many believe that the mass incarceration of minorities in the 1960 s and 70 s was due to the racist legislative measures that were put into place. It is also believed that racism is the catalyst behind the lopsided number of minorities in prison compared to whites. I disagree with these beliefs because statistics show that minority groups commit the majority of crimes in the United States. Many people assume that racist legislation put into place in the 1960 s and 70 s led to the mass incarceration of the minority groups. Since these acts have been put into place, the United States has been named the country with the highest incarceration rate in the world, by an astounding amount. This percent is only one minority groups out of many more that are in prison still to this day. It was also provided in the video that one in every three African Americans are sent to prison once in their lifetime. This gives a basis of the argument that race could play a role in the deciding of sentences in court. As mention in the video, there is proof from cases that an African American have been shown to serve longer sentences than whites for the same crimes. Importance Of Education In Athol Fugard s Tsotsi Education can make or break someone s path of life and families can be split apart for several reasons, for example, prison, war, divorce, etc. Tsotsi takes place in Sophiatown, South Africa during December of 1960. During this time, many families were struggling to stay in contact and it was rare that people had a high level of education. In the novel Tsotsi, by Athol Fugard, lack of familyand illiteracy are problematic aspects to this culture. Without family, people can become lonely and lose sense of hope since they are not recieving the affection they need from a parent. Education is needed to further one s life and help others. Although families lost members and education was not a standard, knowing who you are and making connections with people made your life feel more complete. If children grow up without role models, they will lose their sense of direction in life. Usually, the role models are their parents, and if the parents are young, their still growing up themselves, making it harder to be the role models the children need. When Fugard introduces Miriam Ngidi, a young motherin Sophiatown, she is described as, She was eighteen years old and carried a baby on her back (130). Right outside Tsotsi s window is where mothers in town met near the queue to fill their paraffin tins. Later on, Tsotsi would ask Miriam to feed his baby and she becomes the cause of him taking on the role of a father figure. Miriam s youth exhibits the cultural tradition of starting

With the right angle, lighting, and composition, a photographer can turn a simple scene into a work of art. Cameras capture moments that would otherwise be lost, and allows them to be saved and shared. They create photos which reveal how beautiful life is; they tell a wordless story. Each photographer has their own favorites, own style, and own experiences which call for certain types of cameras. The most popular cameras are Point and Shoot, DSLR, and SLR. The Point and Shoot is the simplest of all the cameras. You just point the camera, and shoot the photo. Most use focus free lenses or autofocus for focusing, automatic systems for setting the exposure options, and have flash units built in. They are popular with people who do not consider themselves photographers and just need a camera to document special events or other daily things they want to remember or deem as photo worthy. Point and Shoot cameras have several physical pros. They are very compact, so they re very easy to just slip into one s pocket and carry anywhere. They are light weight and don t require any excess accessories such as bags or tripods to carry it around. They all come with fixed lenses, so you don t have to worry about changing lenses. They have a massive depth of field which means that typically can t separate foreground from background, bringing everything in focus and making the entire scene look sharp. And, they are the

The same old problems of poverty and ill health still remained. The Liberal reforms of 1906 to 1914 are very important because they show a marked change in government policy from a largely laissez faire approach to a more collectivist approach. Those who had habitually failed to work or who had been in prison also received nothing. The major criticism of this Act was that it did not go far enough. The money was not enough to enable people to pay for the barest necessities and, although it helped, it was not the answer to old age poverty. Also, many elderly people needed financial help long before they reached 70 years of age. In fact most died before receiving a pension. In 1907 school medical inspections began, although it was not until 1912 that free medical treatment was available. Social reformers blamed poverty for causing crime among the young people. There was also the view that by sending young law breakers to adult prisons they would simply learn how to be better criminals. As such, in 1908 juvenile courts and borstals were set up. These reforms, including forbidding the sale of cigarettes and alcohol to children under 16 years of age, were given the name Children s Charter because it was believed these measures would guarantee a better life for young people.
