Attention Getter For Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Attention Getter for Essay" can be a challenging task, requiring
a delicate balance of creativity and precision. The difficulty lies in the necessity to captivate the
reader's interest right from the start. Crafting an effective attention-getter involves more than
just a catchy phrase or a shocking statistic; it requires a deep understanding of the audience and
the overall tone of the essay.
One must navigate through the myriad of attention-grabbing techniques, from anecdotes and
quotations to thought-provoking questions and bold statements. The challenge is to select an
approach that not only fits the essay's theme but also resonates with the intended readership.
Striking this balance can be a nuanced process, as an attention-getter that works well for one
audience may fall flat for another.
Additionally, the difficulty is compounded by the need to seamlessly transition from the
attention-getter to the thesis statement and the body of the essay. The flow must be natural,
ensuring that the reader remains engaged and intrigued throughout. Crafting this seamless
transition demands careful planning and a keen understanding of the essay's structure.
Moreover, the challenge extends to maintaining relevance and coherence in the content that
follows the attention-getter. A powerful introduction should set the stage for the entire essay,
and losing momentum after the initial hook can lead to a disconnect with the reader.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Attention Getter for Essay" is no small feat. It
requires a writer to navigate the complexities of engaging an audience, selecting the right
attention-grabbing technique, and seamlessly transitioning into the main body of the essay. It's a
delicate dance of creativity, precision, and understanding of the audience. For those seeking
assistance with such essays or other academic writing tasks, various resources are available,
including professional writing services like HelpWriting.net, where similar essays and much
more can be ordered to make the writing process more manageable.

Impact Of Technology On The Security System
T.J.X. was the leading fashionable brand name, off price product retailer in the
U.S. In 2013 the company s net sales reached $27 billion, increased by 6%
compared to the same period in 2012. In 2007, the company was revealed by the
investigating authorities that their database had been penetrated by hackers for 1.5
years, and been causing 94 million debit/credit card and customers personal
information stolen around the world of its 2,500 branch stores.
In 2005, the discussion of upgrading the wireless system to the standard WAP was
raised in the information department. However, they choose to focus more on
constraining the budget rather than to invest on wireless security system. According to
the corresponding email between the CIO and the employee, they were aware the
necessity of upgrading the system, but decided to overlook on the potential risk and
the contingency plan they relied on was hope, hoping that they will not get
compromised. And it was the same year when the first major intrusion into the
company s system had occurred at Marshalls. The criminal hacked into the network
and established connection with the main TJX server, then downloaded card
information with their program installed onto the server.
Since the hackers had access to the main database, they were able to modify and
delete log files and to move data to hide their movements. This could be one of the
reasons why it took the company almost two years to detect that there was some
suspicious software
Mindfulness Training
fixating feelings of loneliness or a low sense of purpose (Shonin et al., 2014a).
Mindfulness training is effective because it provides coping skills to reduce
impulses, emotions and stress associated with gambling urges (Reid, DiTirro Fong,
2014). Physiological. Over the decades, scientists have found that physiological
changes are evident in those who meditate over long periods of time. A study by
Lazar et al. (2005), showed that long time meditators have a thicker cortex than non
meditators. The area of the brainevaluated in this study was the right hemisphere,
which is the center of sensory, cognitive and emotional processing. Functional
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) processes were used to measure the cortex of the
brain. Researchers concluded that meditation slows age related declines in cortical
structure, and the respiratory rate and blood pressure levels were lower amongst long
time meditators (Lazar et al., 2005). Physiological studies have shown researchers
that mindfulness positively alters the structure of the brain (Lazar et al., 2005). There
are multiple benefits of practicing mindfulness techniques. Mindfulness affects areas
of the brain related to perception, body awareness, pain tolerance, emotional
regulation, and altruism, kindness to others, complex thinking and sense of self

Additionally, measures are evaluated on a participant s perception of mindfulness

inexpensive method of collecting
Summary Of The Macpherson Report
I this essay I will discuss what the Macpherson report is and how it came about.
Furthermore, I will state the number of recommendations that were put forward by
the Macpherson report and how well they were implemented. Lastly I will discuss the
number of changes that have taken place in the police service due to this report and
whether or not the metropolitan policehave tackled the culture of racismthat was
prevalent when the report came out.
After the death of Stephen Lawrence, an inquiry was held to investigate how the
metropolitan police handled the case. Sir William Macpherson released a report that
institutional racism affects the Metropolitan Police Service, and police services
elsewhere. He made 70 recommendations which he thought would help eliminate
institutional racism within the metropolitan police services. In a review of the
Macpherson report the Home office stated they applied 67 of the recommendations in
part or full.
There were significant recommendations when it came to police officers such as
revisiting first aid training given to officers and changes needed to be made when it
came to racial training awareness. Making sure that any proven racism leads to
disciplinary proceedings and should be punished by dismissal, However, the
metropolitan black association claims that the metropolitan police is still ... Show

When it comes to accountability, there is virtually none and police are rarely
prosecuted or dismissed for actions that a normal civilian would be prosecuted for. To
finalise, the root cause of the failures that happened in the Stephen Lawrence case has
not been dealt with by Scotland Yard because they have yet to really tackle racism in
their institution.
History Of Social Norms
Social norms have been shaping the way people interact throughout history. While
norms could be seen as something that confides behavior, it also maintains social
order allowing certain behaviors to be accepted or to be evaded. The way people
respond to a situation depends on the person s normative beliefs or what they believe
society should act.
A normative belief is a person or a group of people believe what behavior is
appropriate and inappropriate in a given social context. However, George C. Homans
stated: Norms are just shared beliefs; they are not the behavior itself, but what people
think behavior ought to be (Standford). A person may see one behavior completely
outlandish while the person acting out sees it as something normal.
Analysis Of Daan Roosegaarg From The Air
There are no passengers on spaceship earth. We are all crew Marshall McLuhan ( A
quote by Marshall McLuhan ). That quote, by Canadian philosopher Marshall
McLuhan, tells about how humans need to all work together in order to keep earth
habitable. Daan Roosegaarde used that quote in his TED talk about ways to clear
smog from the air by using giant vacuums. Additionally, Argentine artist, TomГ
Ўs
Saraceno described a way of both cleaning up and creating new ways of living
during his TED talk. He talked about building bubbles made of plastic, that have
been left in the ocean, in order for them to raise up into the air and have people to
live in them. Neither of these men described ways of stopping the abuse of the earth,
but instead lectured about ways to clean up the pollution. Since both of these men
are artists, they come up with creative ways to benefit the world. While Saraceno s
ideas are well meaning, Roosegaarde s design is just more reasonable. In order to
further understand the environmental problems facing this planet, it is important to
know just how bad the atmosphere is being polluted. The primary pollutant in the
atmosphere is carbon dioxide, and it is infecting the atmosphere at an outstanding rate.
This carbondioxide goes into the air, and creates what is known as fog. Every
second, 2.4 million pounds of carbon dioxide is being emitted ( Carbon dioxide
emissions rise to 2.4 million pounds per second ). This number is still on the rise,
with no real successful efforts to stop it yet. To enlarge the scale, each year the
carbon dioxide emissions rise to about one billion more tons than the previous year.
Because emissions of the key greenhouse gas have been rising steadily and most
carbon stays in the air for a century, it is not just unlikely but rather optimistic to
think that the world can limit future temperature increases to 2 degrees Celsius (3.6
degrees Fahrenheit) this shows that there is a way to stop it, if all countries just work
together to clean up our atmosphere (Peters). In the first TED talk by Daan
Roosegaarde entitled, A smog vacuumcleaner and other magical city designs , he
describes a way to clean up smog from the atmosphere (Roosegaarde). He created the

Social Influences In Mean Girls, Directed By Cady Herron
The 2004 movie Mean Girls explores many concepts of social influences in your
typical high school setting. Cady Herron, the main character, was raised in African
bush country by her zoologist parents. Unaware to the social rules that teenage girls
face in todays society, her parents decided she needs to get socialised , and moved
her to a public high school. Being directly placed in the middle of the school clique
problem, by her new found friends; Damian and Janice, Cady Sets out to ruin
Regina Georges life, the leader of the Plastic clique, with help of her new friends.
The social influence concepts Conformity and Deindividuation Causes the girls to act
in way they would usually not, and will be explored more in my next two paragraphs.

This is because being part of the group reduces our sense of responsibility and
personal identity. In the scene where Regina George post the burn book for the
rest of the School girls to find, Deindividuation is taking place with all of the girls
present in this scene. The girls are acting like animals which they would usually
not do if they were on their own. This is because there has been a shift in attention,
and the girls are focusing on the actions of the group in the external environment.
Causing the girls to have fewer opportunities to focus on their internal thoughts,
and no time for reflection about their actions. Cady Herron compares the girls
behaviour, to something she would see back in the african jungle. The severity of
this scene is quite extreme and could of caused the girls to have serious physical
damages, and mental damages. To counteract this scene, The principle and teachers
could of brought the girls on a personal level, by addressing the girls personally,
which would of made the girls not feel part of the group, giving their personal
identity and sense of responsibility back. Or they could of removed the girls from the
group, separating them and giving them their identity and responsibility
Different Forms Of Identity Theft
Identity theft is when someone steals or takes your personal information using it
without your permission and can damage your finances, credit history and reputation.
The different forms of identity theft include social security identity theft, financial
identity theft, driver s license identity theft, criminal identity theft, medical identity
theft, insurance identity theft, synthetic identity theft, tax identity theft and child
identity theft. Social security identity theft is one of the most common because the
social security numberis one of the most valuable government based identity asset

Entanglement During Fishing
Humans could prevent marine mammals from entanglement. Things that could
prevent entanglement during fishing is be cautious of all your belongings your
fishing gears or any equipment like trash. To prevent gears from entangling animals
secure pots and gear, avoid any snagging, use escape cord on shellfish pots, dispose
of any fishinglines and lures. For any food products that were purchased on the
market to prevent animals from getting caught is to cut all loops of packing bands
and lines. Another great idea to help out is to volunteer community service to pick up

Differences Between American And French Chinatowns
Chinatowns are there in many countries in the whole world, with the inclusion of
United States, France, Australia, India, United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa,
among others. They are often marred with spectacular allusion to the stereotypic
Chinese cultures in most cases. Nevertheless, the scope of the display of these
definitive Chinese cultural elements in the Chinatowns varies a bit from one country
to the other. The essay considers this in comparing the situation between American
Chinatowns and the French Chinatowns, using a personal experience in a Chinese
restaurant in Cambridge, where I have been every Saturday, since February, with the
Massachusetts Go Association s members. It considers the following as points of
argument: dress codes in Chinese restaurants; overall conversations and interactions;
use of exotic languages; the precise restaurant service mannerisms and architectural
dimension. They inform the comparison with relative descriptions and reasons as
applicable.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, the practices are often the most definitive of cultural facets. It is in
consideration of the fact that embodiment of the practices at times tends to fluctuate
from different geographic locations. It is the same case for the Chinatowns that are
evidently spread in various parts of the globe. Thus, it is in light of the above that
this essay presents more of a comparative observation of the personal experiences
based on the American Chinatowns and the French Chinatowns. This phase of the
cultural comparative essay in light of the American Chinatown and the French
Chinatown is composed of a variety of factors. These factors adequately inform the
various perspectives that are ideal in regard to the relatable experiences associated
with comparing the two supposedly cultural
The Cherry Orchard By Anton Chekov
The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have. As demonstrated by
this quotation from Vince Lombardi, a reflection of our worth derives from the effort
we put forward. Stories of successful citizens rising from the unknown to fame, or
poverty to wealth shows the common man that if they desire a similar outcome, there
exists a possibility of attaining a higher social status. Occasionally, as depicted in the
play The Cherry Orchardby Anton Chekov, instances where honest means to attain
fortune occasionally arise. By utilizing dialogue and direction, action, and images, he
makes clear the dishonest motives of the character Lopakhin, especially within the
third act. In order to obtain a new status within society, Lopakhin creates chaos in
order to ensure his future differs from his past, while controlling the destiny of those
who indirectly oppressed him through the development of a motive and acting on his
personal desires with no regard for the people around him.Without an initial
conversation regarding development, there exists no possibility for change. David
Ball, the author of Backwards and Forwards: A Technical Manual for Reading Plays
mentions, Talking is drama s most common activity. (Ball 27) then proceeds to
question the statement to continue his point by asking, What is it about talking that
connects it to recognizable human behavior? resulting in his answer of A human
being talks in order to get what he or she wants. (27). Within a play,
The Great Wave Kanagawa Analysis
The Great Wave off Kanagawa was produced somewhere between 1830 and 1833,
by Japanese Katsushika Hokusai, a painter, and a woodblock artist printer. Since he
was a woodblock artist printer, there were between 5000 8000 original prints of this
picture, although there are only about a few hundred remaining to this day. In the
painting, you can see massive waves crashing into small ships. In the background,
you can see Mt. Fuji, although it looks like another wave, you can tell it s a
mountain because of it s the cone shape.
I think that Katsushika Hokusai made the end of the wave with many curly lines to
show how destructive the wave is and how big the wave actually is. Katsushika
used many long, curved lines to make the main body of the wave. This allows the
viewer to be able to understand that the wave is about to crash into the ships. He
also painted many other waves that weren t quite as big. The outline of these waves
is made up of slightly curved lines that turn in slightly jagged lines. This detail ...

One of these details is the end of the waves. The ends of the waves are curled,
making it look as if the waves have fingers that are reaching out to the boats so they
can crush the boats. This gives the viewer a sense of calamity and catastrophe.
Katsushika purposely made the wave look massive compared to Mt. Fuji because
it gives the viewer a feeling that the wave is much larger than it actually is. In fact,
people estimate that the biggest wave in the painting is only 32 to 39 feet tall,
which is big, but with the perspective given, it looks as if the wave is really 300
feet tall. I think that Katsushika made the outline of the smaller waves look like a
mountain because he didn t want the main focus of the artwork to be about Mt. Fuji,
and instead, he wanted it to be about the huge waves and the part the
Analysis Of The Book Carrol
Carrol, is the casserole done yet? I m starving. I haven t eaten since 5:30. It s 5:45
now, said Carrol. She bent down and gave a small piece of chicken to their cat, Lucky.
Exactly, said Ben through his wrinkly cracked lips, I still haven t filled up my
second stomach yet, earning a grin from gray haired Carrol, across the kitchen,
leaning on the counter.
Carrol smiled and replied, We still have Alice to wait on. Oh, I m so excited. We
haven t seen her in so long.
She was interrupted by the loud chime of the doorbell. Ben leaned on his cane to
stand up, and slowly made his way to the windowless front door. Once he opened
the door, Carrol heard the small chatter of Ben and her daughter, Alice. As she took
the casserole out of the oven, she heard Ben invite her into the kitchen in his deep
gruff voice.
There stood rosy cheeked Alice, with her curly blonde hair and bundled in her gray
sweaters and trench coat. Behind her stood a small, thin boy with a sniffling, red
nose and wireframe glasses. He carried a small black duffel bag on his shoulder, and
wore a mud green coat.
Mom, it s so great to see you! exclaimed Alice.
Alice, you as well. Ah, who is this? Carrol said, looking back at the boy.
Oh, said Alice in her cheerful voice, This is Ethan.
He held out a gloved hand, and introduced himself, Pleasure to meet you, he said
through a congested, nasally voice. Carrol shook his hand as Ethan sniffed the
kitchen air. What is that I smell? he said.
John C Calhoun Political Analysis
John C. Calhoun was born in Abbeville, South Carolina on March 18, 1782. When
he was 17 he dropped out of high school and worked on the family farm to help his
parents. In 1804 he finished his studies and obtained a degree from Yale University.
After he got his degree, he started studying law at Tapping Reeve Law School and
was admitted into the South Carolinabar in1807, later abandoning his practice, when
he got married to his cousin, Floride Calhoun, to become a planter statesman. In
1808, Calhoun was elected to be South Carolina s state legislature, only staying in
this position for a year. In 1812, Calhoun introduced the declaration of war against
Britain. From 1817 to 1825, Calhoun served as the Secretary of War under President
James Monroe.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the election, with John Adams support, he ran unopposed as vice president
and was elected for another term in the following election, under President Andrew
Jackson. In 1828, the same year Calhoun was re elected, he founded the Nullifier
Party in response to the Tariff of Abominations passed by Congress in the same year.
The Nullifier Party was supportive of states having the ability to nullify rules those
states found to be unconstitutional. After Calhoun s resignation from Vice Presidency
he was immediately elected into the United States Senate from South Carolina,
where he served until 1843, and then he returned from 1845 1850. During his
second time in the Senate, Calhoun opposed the Mexican American War and
California s admission as a free state, knowing that if California became a free state
the scale of power would tip and the Union would eventually abolish slavery. For the
last years of his life he fought against northern abolitionists and died of cholera in

Comparing The Past In Demon King And The Lightning
Thief
The past always comes back and it may not be the way someone wanted. In the book
The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima, and The Lightning Thief by Rick
Riordan the theme is decisions made by one in the past can affect the one s future.
The theme is developed through the conflict that the characters undergo. Han in the
Demon king decided to join the Raggers in his pastand caused conflict throughout the
book. Percy withheld information and cause unfortunate events to occur causing
forces to go against him. One example, Is when Han goes to the south bridge, he gets
himself into a position where he is confronted by the southies. Shiv explained to Han
that his members are being slaughtered and assumes it was the Raggers. Shiv and the
southies start to beat Han and Han thought to himself about saying he wasn t with the

His Mom took him on a vacation, though he was then confronted by a Minotaur.
His mother acted as distraction as she told Percy to get to Camp Half Blood. In the
process, Percy s mother was killed and Percy was critically injured along with
Grover. When Percy woke up he and exclaimed My mother! She s gone... I should
have told her about the monster... it s all my fault she s... (132 Riordan). Percy
was very upset when his mother died. He had encountered a demon teacher before
and knew that he should have told his Mom about it. He knows that his mother
would have taken him to Camp Half Blood and the Minotaur would not of killed
her. Percy regrets ever withholding this secret from her and knew that she might be
alive today, but is now dead trying to save him from the beast. If Percy didn t hold
this information from his mother then his Mother would not have died and he and
Grover would not be injured. If he had made the right decision in the past then he
never would have had to deal with the conflict he

all of their customers. Of course, life insurance has always been their main focus.

In their first year, they only wrote Life and 56 accident policies. Now, of course,
that is not enough to make the company stay strong. Instead of giving up and going

New York, they looked for ways to better themselves and become number one. The
president for MetLife, Joseph F. Knapp set his eyes out to find the leading
insurance company and find out what the secret was. He found what he was looking
for in England where insurance policies for working men were proving to be very
successful, something America had not yet looked into. So MetLife made the
decision to bring over the British agents to train in American agencies and business
started to boom. They were signing up 700 new customers on the daily. MetLife was
defiantly becoming a household name. Agents were instructed to call homes and the
same time each week to talk with clients to create trust and
Why Private Troubles Become Public Issues
Sociological Imagination is the way we learn and expound on social problems in
order to decipher how and why private troubles become public issues. Private
issues are the problems faced at the individual, or micro, level, while public issues
are seen at a macro level, affecting institutions or society. With sociological
imagination, we can begin to understand how different social problems came about
from the individual level. A close friend of mine, I will call her Emily, loved
running track, singing, and spending time with her close friends. One night while
she was in the car with her boyfriend, another driver was speeding and hit her car
head on after the other driver lost control. She doesn t remember too much from
the night of the crash, but she remembers waking up almost a month later in an
intensive care unit with part of her head shaved, tubes all over her body, and only
one leg. She came to learn that she had gone through thirteen surgeries while she
was in a coma, two of them were brain surgeries, most were abdominal, and another
took her right leg just below the knee. Not only is she suffering major medical
problems, but now Emily also suffers mental problems such as depression and Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Emily is not running anymore, but often uses a
wheelchair to get around because her prosthetic is painful for her to wear. Emily has
trouble singing notes she could previously hit, and gave up on some of her choir
goals ever since the major car

The Struggles Faced in The Color Purple and The Joy Luck Club

the Bible has taught her to honor her mother, father, and husband; therefore, she feels
she cannot get angry with them. Celie reveals a breakthrough for she overcomes

The hacking of the adult website leaked personal information of high profiled

advances of technology leads to situations that people are unprepared for such as

Abstract
In recent years, policymakers and parents of missing, abducted and slain children
have demanded action against the growing problem of pedophiles in the United
States. This literature examines one of the most controversial child safety acts passed
in U.S. history. The paper will introduce to you how the child safety act started, the
most controversial part of the act, the constitutional challenges the act faces; and the
rationale behind the child safety act. This topic was of most ... Show more content on

Kindness By Naomi Shihab Nye Analysis
Kindness is an easy thing to understand, a person is nice to someone instead of
being mean, but to truly know what kindness is a person has to suffer tremendous
pain. In Naomi Shihab Nye s poem Kindness, she explains that a person has to be
brought to to their lowest point and build themselves back up, before the know
what kindness really is. They have to witness all the ugly parts of life, see all the
bad in the world before they truly appreciate kindness. That person need to figure
out who they really are before they know what kindness is. Losing things, whether it
be a person s favorite pair of old blues jeans that fit just right and they wore
everywhere, the familypet that they grew up running in the yard with, or losing
someone they lovedearly that they spent hours talking to everyday, is an awful
thing to go through. In Nye s poem she writes, Before you know what kindness
really is/ you must lose things,/ feel the future dissolve in a moment/ like salt in a
weakened broth (Lines 1 4). Loss is depressing and gut wrenching, the person feels
lost, they feel numb, and they feel everything at once. It is such an overwhelming
time, and the person feels as if they will never... Show more content on

Nye wrote in her poem, You must see how this could be you,/ how he too was
someone/ who journeyed through the night with plans/ and the simple breath that
kept him alive (17 20). A person must empathize with someone who is at their worst
before they know kindness. They need to put themself into that person s shoes and
imagine what they are going through at that moment and time. Once someone
understands what the other person is going through they can easily express kindness
to them because they know the pain they must be feeling and showing kindness to
people who are hurting is the ultimate way to knowing
The Political Economy Of Communication
The political economy of communication is using political economy approach to
analyse the media and communication. Therefore, before discuss the political
economy of communication we need to figure out what is political economy and
what is communication. The definition of political economy is not simple. This
essay uses the definitions given by Vincent Mosco and explores its origin in Greek
and inspiration from the Classical Political Economy. Apart from the Classical
Political Economy, this essay also describes other forms of this approach, such as
Critical Political Economy and Neoclassical Political Economy. Latter the
characteristics of political economy study are also discussed based on Vincent
Mosco s work in the 1990s.
The part of communication starts by defining the concept of communication in a
political economic way. To understand deeply the political economy of
communication, it is necessary compare it with culture studies, so this part also
explains the similarities and differences between this two studies.
Finally the public television is used as an example to describe the peculiarities of the
media and the political economy of the media.
What is political economy?
At the beginning, the political economy has is origin in Greek. The word economics
is composed of oikos and noms which mean house and law (Mosco, 2009).
Therefore, economics is the management of the household (Mosco, 2009). Political
has its origin of polos which means city state

Through their time and service in the field the average pay, from 2016, is about

aspects of the FBI job, however; some of my favorites are that the agency creates
the opportunity to give resources to their employees by giving resources to give
health, happiness and satisfaction in their daily life. And depending on your cases
it would be possible to experience new places and travel, which is a great perk
when most of your time is spent at work. For me, however; the best aspect of this
job would be the opportunity to assist other peoples lives and create a safer
environment. Yet with positives always come negatives. Although you are
expected to be completely prepared to put you life on the line it is a highly
negative facet of the job. It could also be very stressful to endure the loss of a case
or the fact of not being able to solve it whatsoever. And as someone who suffers from
PTSD, I think the worst part of this job would be experiencing all of the traumatic

Dollar Bill History
We have made great strides over these past four years. We have finally broken the
chokehold of the federal government power is flowing to the people, returning to
liberty s natural state. We have one final bond to break before the transfer it

removed a one hundred dollar bill. He held the bill out for all to see. This note is
legal tender for all debts, public and private. Edward turned the bill over. In God
we trust... now, isn t that ironic? Edward placed the bill over on the table, and
slapped his hand on top of it. This is the final link in the chain. Now, let s have a

Abortion Should NOT Be Legal In The United States
Because this is a first essay, it seems only appropriate that I introduce to you about
what you should expect from now in the future.
I am a teenager, of average weight, 5 9 tall, and wear glasses. I have dark brown to
black hair, dark brown eyes, wear size 10.5 in shoes, and wear a size small to medium
depending on the brand of the shirt.
Objects that I am incredibly fond of are sweets, such as chocolate and caramel,
strawberry and chocolate milk, ice cream of any flavor, and cookies with milk. I am
also fond of colorful sunsets and sunrises, spending time with friends, the feeling of
clothes freshly out of the dryer, and the smooth top of a brand new jar of peanut
butter.
I personally believe that same sex marriage should be legal while abortion should not
be legal to certain extents. I oppose raising taxes but agree with giving citizenships to
certain immigrants. For example, ones who don t cause any crime and entrepreneurs
who promote our economy. I disagree with provisions such as ones that force citizens

punishment for criminals. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Police officers shouldn t be treating people of color inferiorly. They are just like
every other person on this earth and should not be treated as if they automatically
were criminals. On the other hand, people shouldn t be harming and killing cops
for the actions of a few flawed cops. Most police officers are there to help and
protect the community and everyone inside of it. They do not want to cause any
harm and only want to help. However, the thing that irritates me the most is how
people judge one another just by their appearance. Take homeless people for
instance. Have you seen the videos of how people would just walk straight past a
homeless person in serious need yet they give money to girls holding up signs for
makeup? That alone just infuriates

A2. Scholarly Leadership Theory Servant leadership has been around for thousands
of years. Though more notably within religious context, the subject of servant
leadership and the traits associated with success have blossomed greatly since the
1970 s when Robert Greenleaf published his insights on the subject. Greenleaf
expresses how servant leaders exist in many areas, including business. Servant
leadership, unlike transactional, is focused on serving the individual needs of
others before the needs of the organization. The theory is that organizations will
function at higher levels when the personal needs of others are being met.
Greenleaf also suggests, The servant leader is a servant first (Greenleaf, 1977/2002,
The Servant as Leader section, Who Is the Servant Leader? para. 1). Evaluating my
own management abilities and research in leadership, I have taken great interest in
the servant leadership theory. A few of my greatest leadership strengths and
weaknesses are related to my strong desire to see the growth and success of others.

Radiation Is Natural Part Of The Earth
Radiation is natural part of the Earth. Radiation exists all around us, in the air, the
soil, and rock. Humans have lived, and thrived in a radioactive environment since
the beginning of time. Radon is one form of radiation, it s odorless, tasteless,
invisible, and it s in the air we breathe. Cosmic radiation is in space as heavily
charged particles and gamma rays. Terrestrial radiation is emitted naturally in the
form of heat from the Earth. Then we have manmade radiation. In 1895 Roentgen
discovered radiation in his laboratory, the medical benefits of this invisible source of
energy were experimented with in every direction from beauty, to health for many
years, and continues to this day. Radiation is a part of our environment both naturally
and unnaturally (Sources of Radiation Exposure. (2013, June 12). Retrieved from
http://epa.gov/radiation/sources/index.html). Just as the Earth has supplied us with
natural radiation, it has supplied us with ways in which to protect us through
nutrition. In the same way we can protect ourselves from natural radiation, we can
protect ourselves from unnatural radiation. Minerals, spices, herbs, seaweed, and
plants bind the radiation particles in our bodies and are removed naturally. Our
bodies are incredible healing machines, given the correct nutrition and avoiding foods
that impair the immune system, we are designed to heal and thrive in a world filled
with toxins and even radiation. Natural sources of radiation are everywhere.
The Relations Between China And China
In the 1990s during Bill Clintons presidency there was heavy tension between the
state of China and their disputed territory of Taiwan (Russell 1). The dispute came
about because China felt the island should be a part of China and not separate.
However, Taiwan was looking for independence (Russell 4). It an attempt to get
people on the side of Taiwanese independence their president, Lee Teng hui fought to
get a visa and eventually came to the United Statesfor a gathering at Cornell
University, where he attended college. This visit led to resentment from China
(Russell 1). The United States got involved in the China Taiwan issue by using their
military to provide stability in the region between China and Taiwan (Russell 8).
The United States during this time period had strong ties with both Taiwan and
mainland China, this was mainly because of the economic ties. Taiwan and China are
both two prominent trading partners of America (Russell 4). We import heavily from
both of these places, and Taiwan imports many American goods as well (Russell 4).
Therefore, it was in our best interest, economically, to keep peaceful relations with
both China and Taiwan.
Decisions made by the United States during this time had serious influences in this
region. The United States had a definite interest in maintaining stability in the region
and not aligning themselves with one side over the other. To try and sustain a balance
the United States intervened with the use of their military
Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Vs Beowulf

As a kid we are all fantasized by the heros of stories, we gawk over the secret crime
fighters that rescue damsels in distress and fight evil and win with a single punch.
In these stories we watch as they accomplish superhuman feats, but then at the end
of the day they take off their super suit or disguise that masks who they are and
how they feel about the other evils they face in day to day life. Just like these
superheros we all have things we must accomplish in every aspect of our lives and
there is no way to avoid those things no matter who you are. We can see this is true

The Beatles Influence On Music Essay
During the course, I was able to learn the various artists and their works that slowly
evolved into something extremely influential through different eras. Some artists
made songs that were personal and others made music based on making an impact
on the population. One song in particular that is personally the strongest lyrically
for influential action is The Beatles Revolution released in 1968. Considering how
huge they were during their time, the outcome of the people hearing that particular
song was at large and was at huge importance to the fans and unfortunate stance the
country was going through. This song was released on the Apple label and was
one of the bigger hits off the album. The Beatles influence on music was so huge
that even history books included their arrival to America and considered it as
turning point in the history of Rock. This song has a cold war focus although it
does get to mentions Vietnam. The Cold war had been going on during this era and
was the reason for the creation of the song. Anti war songs were a great statement to
make especially for a group with a magnitude as big as theirs. The... Show more

Moving back almost thirty years we get to view one of the first influences made to
create a change that was desperately needed during this time frame. In 1939, racism
and segregation was at an unfathomable high and the trauma caused by the actions of
the whites to the blacks was shocking. Lynching is documented in the history books
and is considered as one of the most inhumane acts ever done by an individual or
group of individuals.
Billie Holiday released a song titled Strange Fruit which was extremely controversial.
I m sure Billie Holiday knew the controversy the song would bring and the large
amount of individuals that would hate it. Surprisingly, the outcome was in her favor
and more people liked the song than hated
How A Regulator Observe Data Integrity Of
Pharmaceutical...
How a regulator observe Data Integrity in Pharmaceutical Industry Regulatory
authorities across the Globe have imparted a lot of learning to the organizations. The
Objective of regulatory investigators is to provide assurance of acceptable product
quality, purity, safety, identity and effectiveness for intended application by,
assessing cGMP ensuring data accuracy and reliability of results. Regulators have
always corrected organizations through standardized security control to adhere cGMP
requirements and regulations. Regulatory authorities expect the use of compliant
instruments/equipment, with security functions for traceability and accountability of
operations. Finally, regulators have helped in Strengthening quality standards,
Generating high level of assurance/trust in the products as well as the organization.
How regulators visualize Data Integrity? Have a look at the following points. If it s
not written down, It never Happened In God we trust, all others bring data Quality
means: Doing right When no one is Looking (Henry Ford) Integrity is telling myself
the truth, Honesty is Telling the truth to other People (Spencer Johnso) Let us review
some fundamentals about Data Integrity. What is data integrity ? Data integrity refers
to the completeness, consistency, and accuracy of data. Complete, consistent, and
accurate data should be Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneously recorded, Original
or a true copy, and Accurate (ALCOA). This refers to maintaining
Good Communication Is Effective Communication
Good communication is effective communication; it provides direction, a clear goal,
and encourages the flow of ideas. Successful communication is achieved through a
variety of methods, but most importantly, it begins with a foundation of security and
trust within the team. Successful Communication
Over the past few weeks my group has been using our group discussion board as our
primary method of communication. Since beginning our power point project we
have been posting updates, questions and simple check ins to see how each member
of the group is coming along with their portion of the PowerPoint assignment. Our
key to success has been because of our communication; this is especially important
because we are a virtual group. We touch base with each other regularly for multiple
reasons, the first being the need to establish a relationship.
In contrast to teams who meet face to face on a regular basis, we cannot pick up on
non verbal clues that are expressed through body language, nor are we able to
establish an emotional connection with one another; with that being said, we must
maintain regular contact in order to build a rapport. Secondly, regular communication
allowed us to report progress and drawbacks that may hinder our success. Moreover,
scheduling regular periods of communication enforced accountability by instituting
periodic milestones of progress.
In previous experiences I have had working in collaborative groups, in regard to the
importance of communication,
Political Power In John Locke And The State Of Power
However, once they ve reached this age of reason, they are still supposed to honor
their parents, but are no longer obligated to obey this paternal power or their rules.
Political power, according to Locke, is essentially the right to make laws for
protection and the regulation of property. However, according to Locke, these laws
that are made are only laws if the people believe they are and accept them as good
for the community. He claims that no political society can survive without laws in
place to protect private property, that is, life, liberty and his estate. The differences
in power between Hobbes and Locke are important because the political power that
Locke discusses, the power that ensures one s life, liberty and pursuit of happiness
is non existent in Hobbes s state of nature. Another key difference that Locke
believes is evident in his version of the state of nature is the use of laws. Locke
believes that laws are not created when a sovereign or governing force is put into
place. He believes laws were always there, but in the state of nature, it is the
citizens that are the enforcers. For example, if one breaks the Law of Nature,
everyone has the power to punish the offender, as long as it is impartial. There is a
bit of a problem with impartiality in this aspect. Individuals could enforce these types
of laws, but more often than not, they would not be impartial. Therefore, a
government might be more effective in the enforcing category, except for an absolute
The 5th Amendment And The Fifth Amendment
A man in court randomly yells out the phrase I plead the fifth, and now he doesn t
have to talk anymore! When the man said I plead the fifth he refers back to the
fifth amendment. The fifth amendment says this, No person shall be held to
answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or
indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or
in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any
person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb;
nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be
deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private
property be taken for public use, without just compensation. Well first of all who
introduce the famous 5th amendment. Well according to the Kids Laws they said
that, The Fifth Amendment was introduced into the Constitution by James Madison.
(kids.laws.com). So really James Madison was the one who introduced the whole
concept of having that as the 5th amendment and well the White House does describe
him as ... a small, wizened man, appeared old and worn (whitehouse.gov) he was
indeed a very smart man. Well now over the course of the amendments time there has
been some controversy about the amendment, according to Constitution Daily, they
made a whole story having to do with asking the question, Do government employees

Division or Analysis: Memento
The film Memento, directed by Christopher Nolan, is an American neo noir,
mystery psychological thriller film that was released in cinemas in the year 2000.
The movie was inspired and based off one of Nolan s younger brother s short story;
Memento Mori. Despite not widely known, the movie is critically acclaimed for
what it was able to accomplish. The movie did not do well in theaters nor were its
box office statistics notable, however the movie is well received by critics and
cinema centric websites. Memento is astounding and astounding film because of its
innovative use of narration and creative mystery that requires multiple viewings. ...

The film has one overall branching storyline but is told through two different time
lines. The film begins at the end of the story and is told backwards, colored, in
fifteen minute intervals. Each scene going backwards is told in these specific
intervals to juxtapose Leonard s condition, where the overall storyline is confusing
and doesn t make a lot of sense, similar to how Leonard feels constantly. And his
general length of memory is also about fifteen minute parallel to the lengths of
scenes in the movie. While most of the plot is told backwards and new information
is revealed in these intervals, the story s reverse order sequence is broken off and
alternated by no color, black and white scenes. These scenes are shown interchanged
with the main backwards plot and alternate every scene. The colorless parts are
depicted in standard chronological order to give the story better overall rhythm. As
the main story is nonlinear, the plot starts to become more and more difficult to
understand, so the director uses related black and white scenes that connect with the
colored story line. This structure is used to keep the flow consistent. In written
material sentences are usually structured so that old previously established
information is shown at the beginning of the sentence and new, untold information is
organized toward the end. Without these black and white interludes, the story would
be constantly
Auditing Self Regulation and Government Regulation
Over the years the accounting profession has been subject to various forms of
oversight with varying degrees of success. Nevertheless, it used to be self regulating.
But a series of financial scandals involving once prominent companies such as Enron,
WorldCom and Parmalat lead the authorities to consider whether the accounting
profession s self regulatory oversight system was appropriate to meet the necessary
objectives. These corporate failures had shown that the self regulatory system did not
produce credible results and had the potential to undermine investor confidence in the
integrity of the securities markets (The Treasury, 2006). As a consequence a number
of countries have reviewed their arrangements for independent oversight of... Show

The only caveat is that this regulation needs to be efficient and effective. Whatever
regulatory framework is used, be it administered by the profession or government, it
must give the regulator appropriate incentives to act in the public interest. Regulators
must have a clear, overarching purpose and the ability to resist any moves towards
regulation that are self interested or motivated by special interest groups. Serving the
public interest means having regulations that achieve their aim of being effective and
efficient without imposing unnecessary costs. The benefits of the regulation that is,
its effectiveness in protecting the public interest must exceed its costs. The
International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) has undertaken
work in this area and has developed a series of principles for regulators. These
principles hold that: The responsibilities of the regulator should be clear and
objectively stated; The regulator should be operationally independent and
accountable in the exercise of its functions and powers; The regulator should have
adequate powers, proper resources and the capacity to perform its functions and
exercise its powers; The regulator should adopt clear and consistent regulatory
processes; and The staff of the regulator should observe the highest professional
standards, including appropriate
Psychotherapy For Dissociative Identity Disorder
Dissociative Identity Disorder, commonly known as Multiple Personality Disorder,
is characterized by an involuntary escape from reality characterized by a
disconnection between thoughts, identity, consciousness, and memory
(Dissociative). An example of mild everyday dissociation is when you are given a
list to accomplish throughout the day, but forget some along the way. The
dissociation experienced in MPD is more involved in the long term memory.
Symptoms are the reaction of enduring a traumatic event, commonly expressed in
abuse and military combat. DID has a vast variety of symptoms including mood
swings, dissociative amnesia, distress, and sleep loss. Dissociative amnesia is also
tied to what most patients refer to as blackouts . Even... Show more content on

Attention Getter For Essay.pdf

  • 1. Attention Getter For Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "Attention Getter for Essay" can be a challenging task, requiring a delicate balance of creativity and precision. The difficulty lies in the necessity to captivate the reader's interest right from the start. Crafting an effective attention-getter involves more than just a catchy phrase or a shocking statistic; it requires a deep understanding of the audience and the overall tone of the essay. One must navigate through the myriad of attention-grabbing techniques, from anecdotes and quotations to thought-provoking questions and bold statements. The challenge is to select an approach that not only fits the essay's theme but also resonates with the intended readership. Striking this balance can be a nuanced process, as an attention-getter that works well for one audience may fall flat for another. Additionally, the difficulty is compounded by the need to seamlessly transition from the attention-getter to the thesis statement and the body of the essay. The flow must be natural, ensuring that the reader remains engaged and intrigued throughout. Crafting this seamless transition demands careful planning and a keen understanding of the essay's structure. Moreover, the challenge extends to maintaining relevance and coherence in the content that follows the attention-getter. A powerful introduction should set the stage for the entire essay, and losing momentum after the initial hook can lead to a disconnect with the reader. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Attention Getter for Essay" is no small feat. Impact Of Technology On The Security System T.J.X. was the leading fashionable brand name, off price product retailer in the U.S. In 2013 the company s net sales reached $27 billion, increased by 6% compared to the same period in 2012. In 2007, the company was revealed by the investigating authorities that their database had been penetrated by hackers for 1.5 years, and been causing 94 million debit/credit card and customers personal information stolen around the world of its 2,500 branch stores. In 2005, the discussion of upgrading the wireless system to the standard WAP was raised in the information department. However, they choose to focus more on constraining the budget rather than to invest on wireless security system. According to the corresponding email between the CIO and the employee, they were aware the necessity of upgrading the system, but decided to overlook on the potential risk and the contingency plan they relied on was hope, hoping that they will not get compromised. And it was the same year when the first major intrusion into the company s system had occurred at Marshalls. The criminal hacked into the network and established connection with the main TJX server, then downloaded card information with their program installed onto the server. Since the hackers had access to the main database, they were able to modify and delete log files and to move data to hide their movements. This could be one of the reasons why it took the company almost two years to detect that there was some suspicious software

Mindfulness training is effective because it provides coping skills to reduce impulses, emotions and stress associated with gambling urges (Reid, DiTirro Fong, 2014). Physiological. Over the decades, scientists have found that physiological changes are evident in those who meditate over long periods of time. A study by Lazar et al. (2005), showed that long time meditators have a thicker cortex than non meditators. The area of the brainevaluated in this study was the right hemisphere, which is the center of sensory, cognitive and emotional processing. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) processes were used to measure the cortex of the brain. Researchers concluded that meditation slows age related declines in cortical structure, and the respiratory rate and blood pressure levels were lower amongst long time meditators (Lazar et al., 2005). Physiological studies have shown researchers that mindfulness positively alters the structure of the brain (Lazar et al., 2005). There are multiple benefits of practicing mindfulness techniques. Furthermore, I will state the number of recommendations that were put forward by the Macpherson report and how well they were implemented. Lastly I will discuss the number of changes that have taken place in the police service due to this report and whether or not the metropolitan policehave tackled the culture of racismthat was prevalent when the report came out. After the death of Stephen Lawrence, an inquiry was held to investigate how the metropolitan police handled the case. Sir William Macpherson released a report that institutional racism affects the Metropolitan Police Service, and police services elsewhere. He made 70 recommendations which he thought would help eliminate institutional racism within the metropolitan police services. In a review of the Macpherson report the Home office stated they applied 67 of the recommendations in part or full. There were significant recommendations when it came to police officers such as revisiting first aid training given to officers and changes needed to be made when it came to racial training awareness. • 5. History Of Social Norms Social norms have been shaping the way people interact throughout history. While norms could be seen as something that confides behavior, it also maintains social order allowing certain behaviors to be accepted or to be evaded. The way people respond to a situation depends on the person s normative beliefs or what they believe society should act. A normative belief is a person or a group of people believe what behavior is appropriate and inappropriate in a given social context. However, George C. Homans stated: Norms are just shared beliefs; they are not the behavior itself, but what people think behavior ought to be (Standford). A person may see one behavior completely outlandish while the person acting out sees it as something normal.

That quote, by Canadian philosopher Marshall McLuhan, tells about how humans need to all work together in order to keep earth habitable. Daan Roosegaarde used that quote in his TED talk about ways to clear smog from the air by using giant vacuums. Additionally, Argentine artist, TomГ Ўs Saraceno described a way of both cleaning up and creating new ways of living during his TED talk. He talked about building bubbles made of plastic, that have been left in the ocean, in order for them to raise up into the air and have people to live in them. Neither of these men described ways of stopping the abuse of the earth, but instead lectured about ways to clean up the pollution. Since both of these men are artists, they come up with creative ways to benefit the world. While Saraceno s ideas are well meaning, Roosegaarde s design is just more reasonable. In order to further understand the environmental problems facing this planet, it is important to know just how bad the atmosphere is being polluted. The primary pollutant in the atmosphere is carbon dioxide, and it is infecting the atmosphere at an outstanding rate. This carbondioxide goes into the air, and creates what is known as fog. Every second, 2.4 million pounds of carbon dioxide is being emitted ( Carbon dioxide emissions rise to 2.4 million pounds per second ). This number is still on the rise, with no real successful efforts to stop it yet. To enlarge the scale, each year the carbon dioxide emissions rise to about one billion more tons than the previous year. Because emissions of the key greenhouse gas have been rising steadily and most carbon stays in the air for a century, it is not just unlikely but rather optimistic to think that the world can limit future temperature increases to 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) this shows that there is a way to stop it, if all countries just work together to clean up our atmosphere (Peters). In the first TED talk by Daan Roosegaarde entitled, A smog vacuumcleaner and other magical city designs , he describes a way to clean up smog from the atmosphere (Roosegaarde). He created the world s

In the scene where Regina George post the burn book for the rest of the School girls to find, Deindividuation is taking place with all of the girls present in this scene. The girls are acting like animals which they would usually not do if they were on their own. This is because there has been a shift in attention, and the girls are focusing on the actions of the group in the external environment. Causing the girls to have fewer opportunities to focus on their internal thoughts, and no time for reflection about their actions. Cady Herron compares the girls behaviour, to something she would see back in the african jungle. The severity of this scene is quite extreme and could of caused the girls to have serious physical damages, and mental damages. To counteract this scene, The principle and teachers could of brought the girls on a personal level, by addressing the girls personally, which would of made the girls not feel part of the group, giving their personal identity and sense of responsibility back. Or they could of removed the girls from the group, separating them and giving them their identity and responsibility

Differences Between American And French Chinatowns Chinatowns are there in many countries in the whole world, with the inclusion of United States, France, Australia, India, United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, among others. They are often marred with spectacular allusion to the stereotypic Chinese cultures in most cases. Nevertheless, the scope of the display of these definitive Chinese cultural elements in the Chinatowns varies a bit from one country to the other. The essay considers this in comparing the situation between American Chinatowns and the French Chinatowns, using a personal experience in a Chinese restaurant in Cambridge, where I have been every Saturday, since February, with the Massachusetts Go Association s members. It considers the following as points of argument: dress codes in Chinese restaurants; overall conversations and interactions; use of exotic languages; the precise restaurant service mannerisms and architectural dimension. This phase of the cultural comparative essay in light of the American Chinatown and the French Chinatown is composed of a variety of factors. These factors adequately inform the various perspectives that are ideal in regard to the relatable experiences associated with comparing the two supposedly cultural
  • 14. The Cherry Orchard By Anton Chekov The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have. As demonstrated by this quotation from Vince Lombardi, a reflection of our worth derives from the effort we put forward. Stories of successful citizens rising from the unknown to fame, or poverty to wealth shows the common man that if they desire a similar outcome, there exists a possibility of attaining a higher social status. Occasionally, as depicted in the play The Cherry Orchardby Anton Chekov, instances where honest means to attain fortune occasionally arise. By utilizing dialogue and direction, action, and images, he makes clear the dishonest motives of the character Lopakhin, especially within the third act. In order to obtain a new status within society, Lopakhin creates chaos in order to ensure his future differs from his past, while controlling the destiny of those who indirectly oppressed him through the development of a motive and acting on his personal desires with no regard for the people around him.Without an initial conversation regarding development, there exists no possibility for change. David Ball, the author of Backwards and Forwards: A Technical Manual for Reading Plays mentions, Talking is drama s most common activity. • 15. The Great Wave Kanagawa Analysis The Great Wave off Kanagawa was produced somewhere between 1830 and 1833, by Japanese Katsushika Hokusai, a painter, and a woodblock artist printer. Since he was a woodblock artist printer, there were between 5000 8000 original prints of this picture, although there are only about a few hundred remaining to this day. In the painting, you can see massive waves crashing into small ships. In the background, you can see Mt. Fuji, although it looks like another wave, you can tell it s a mountain because of it s the cone shape. I think that Katsushika Hokusai made the end of the wave with many curly lines to show how destructive the wave is and how big the wave actually is. Katsushika used many long, curved lines to make the main body of the wave. This allows the viewer to be able to understand that the wave is about to crash into the ships. He also painted many other waves that weren t quite as big. The outline of these waves is made up of slightly curved lines that turn in slightly jagged lines. This detail ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of these details is the end of the waves. The ends of the waves are curled, making it look as if the waves have fingers that are reaching out to the boats so they can crush the boats. This gives the viewer a sense of calamity and catastrophe. Katsushika purposely made the wave look massive compared to Mt. Fuji because it gives the viewer a feeling that the wave is much larger than it actually is. In fact, people estimate that the biggest wave in the painting is only 32 to 39 feet tall, which is big, but with the perspective given, it looks as if the wave is really 300 feet tall. I think that Katsushika made the outline of the smaller waves look like a mountain because he didn t want the main focus of the artwork to be about Mt. Fuji, and instead, he wanted it to be about the huge waves and the part the

As she took the casserole out of the oven, she heard Ben invite her into the kitchen in his deep gruff voice. There stood rosy cheeked Alice, with her curly blonde hair and bundled in her gray sweaters and trench coat. Behind her stood a small, thin boy with a sniffling, red nose and wireframe glasses. He carried a small black duffel bag on his shoulder, and wore a mud green coat. Mom, it s so great to see you! exclaimed Alice. Alice, you as well. Ah, who is this? Carrol said, looking back at the boy. Oh, said Alice in her cheerful voice, This is Ethan. He held out a gloved hand, and introduced himself, Pleasure to meet you, he said through a congested, nasally voice. Carrol shook his hand as Ethan sniffed the kitchen air. What is that I smell? he said.

  • 25. Kindness By Naomi Shihab Nye Analysis Kindness is an easy thing to understand, a person is nice to someone instead of being mean, but to truly know what kindness is a person has to suffer tremendous pain. In Naomi Shihab Nye s poem Kindness, she explains that a person has to be brought to to their lowest point and build themselves back up, before the know what kindness really is. They have to witness all the ugly parts of life, see all the bad in the world before they truly appreciate kindness. That person need to figure out who they really are before they know what kindness is. Losing things, whether it be a person s favorite pair of old blues jeans that fit just right and they wore everywhere, the familypet that they grew up running in the yard with, or losing someone they lovedearly that they spent hours talking to everyday, is an awful thing to go through. In Nye s poem she writes, Before you know what kindness really is/ you must lose things,/ feel the future dissolve in a moment/ like salt in a weakened broth (Lines 1 4). Loss is depressing and gut wrenching, the person feels lost, they feel numb, and they feel everything at once. It is such an overwhelming time, and the person feels as if they will never... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nye wrote in her poem, You must see how this could be you,/ how he too was someone/ who journeyed through the night with plans/ and the simple breath that kept him alive (17 20). A person must empathize with someone who is at their worst before they know kindness. They need to put themself into that person s shoes and imagine what they are going through at that moment and time. Once someone understands what the other person is going through they can easily express kindness to them because they know the pain they must be feeling and showing kindness to people who are hurting is the ultimate way to knowing

Therefore, before discuss the political economy of communication we need to figure out what is political economy and what is communication. The definition of political economy is not simple. This essay uses the definitions given by Vincent Mosco and explores its origin in Greek and inspiration from the Classical Political Economy. Apart from the Classical Political Economy, this essay also describes other forms of this approach, such as Critical Political Economy and Neoclassical Political Economy. In my second term, I intend to eliminate the Federal Reserve, and return America to the gold standard. We are going to link the dollar to a specific weight of gold. Greenleaf expresses how servant leaders exist in many areas, including business. Servant leadership, unlike transactional, is focused on serving the individual needs of others before the needs of the organization. The theory is that organizations will function at higher levels when the personal needs of others are being met. Greenleaf also suggests, The servant leader is a servant first (Greenleaf, 1977/2002, The Servant as Leader section, Who Is the Servant Leader? para. 1). In the same way we can protect ourselves from natural radiation, we can protect ourselves from unnatural radiation. Minerals, spices, herbs, seaweed, and plants bind the radiation particles in our bodies and are removed naturally. Our bodies are incredible healing machines, given the correct nutrition and avoiding foods that impair the immune system, we are designed to heal and thrive in a world filled with toxins and even radiation. Political Power In John Locke And The State Of Power However, once they ve reached this age of reason, they are still supposed to honor their parents, but are no longer obligated to obey this paternal power or their rules. Political power, according to Locke, is essentially the right to make laws for protection and the regulation of property. However, according to Locke, these laws that are made are only laws if the people believe they are and accept them as good for the community. He claims that no political society can survive without laws in place to protect private property, that is, life, liberty and his estate. The differences in power between Hobbes and Locke are important because the political power that Locke discusses, the power that ensures one s life, liberty and pursuit of happiness is non existent in Hobbes s state of nature. Another key difference that Locke believes is evident in his version of the state of nature is the use of laws. Locke believes that laws are not created when a sovereign or governing force is put into place. He believes laws were always there, but in the state of nature, it is the citizens that are the enforcers. For example, if one breaks the Law of Nature, everyone has the power to punish the offender, as long as it is impartial. There is a bit of a problem with impartiality in this aspect. Individuals could enforce these types of laws, but more often than not, they would not be impartial. Therefore, a government might be more effective in the enforcing category, except for an absolute

Memento is astounding and astounding film because of its innovative use of narration and creative mystery that requires multiple viewings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film has one overall branching storyline but is told through two different time lines. The film begins at the end of the story and is told backwards, colored, in fifteen minute intervals. Each scene going backwards is told in these specific intervals to juxtapose Leonard s condition, where the overall storyline is confusing and doesn t make a lot of sense, similar to how Leonard feels constantly. And his general length of memory is also about fifteen minute parallel to the lengths of scenes in the movie. While most of the plot is told backwards and new information is revealed in these intervals, the story s reverse order sequence is broken off and alternated by no color, black and white scenes. These scenes are shown interchanged with the main backwards plot and alternate every scene. The colorless parts are depicted in standard chronological order to give the story better overall rhythm. As the main story is nonlinear, the plot starts to become more and more difficult to understand, so the director uses related black and white scenes that connect with the colored story line. This structure is used to keep the flow consistent. In written material sentences are usually structured so that old previously established information is shown at the beginning of the sentence and new, untold information is organized toward the end. Without these black and white interludes, the story would be constantly

Nevertheless, it used to be self regulating. But a series of financial scandals involving once prominent companies such as Enron, WorldCom and Parmalat lead the authorities to consider whether the accounting profession s self regulatory oversight system was appropriate to meet the necessary objectives. These corporate failures had shown that the self regulatory system did not produce credible results and had the potential to undermine investor confidence in the integrity of the securities markets (The Treasury, 2006). Whatever regulatory framework is used, be it administered by the profession or government, it must give the regulator appropriate incentives to act in the public interest. Regulators must have a clear, overarching purpose and the ability to resist any moves towards regulation that are self interested or motivated by special interest groups. Serving the public interest means having regulations that achieve their aim of being effective and efficient without imposing unnecessary costs. The benefits of the regulation that is, its effectiveness in protecting the public interest must exceed its costs. The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) has undertaken work in this area and has developed a series of principles for regulators. These principles hold that: The responsibilities of the regulator should be clear and objectively stated; The regulator should be operationally independent and accountable in the exercise of its functions and powers; The regulator should have adequate powers, proper resources and the capacity to perform its functions and exercise its powers; The regulator should adopt clear and consistent regulatory processes; and The staff of the regulator should observe the highest professional standards, including appropriate
