I chose to do my open court observation on criminal cases. Criminal cases usually involve attorneys
that try to prove their argument to the judge. I felt as though this setting would be more interesting to
sit and observe versus a civil case where you have two people trying to settle a dispute. Its interesting
to see how actual attorneys and judges act in a courtroom instead of what is portrayed on TV. My local
courthouse which is in a police station holds preliminary hearings. A preliminary hearing is where the
judge decides if there is enough evidence that there was a crime committed and you committed a
crime. If the prosecutor fails to do this, then some or all the charges filed against you can be
dismissed. There was two different parts to this process that I saw during my observation. The first
one is when the defendant waives their hearing. Then the second being where the defendant decides to

Mass Media During the Last Century
Mass media has changed dramatically over the course of the last century. There have been three major
changes. Each of these changes has effected American culture. The changes have taken place because
of media convergence. These are the major changes.
The first significant development in mass media was the paper stage (Campbell, Martin, Fabos, 2016,
). During this phase, stories or messages were sent out written, or typed on paper. That was the way
that they reached the people. The second stage of mass media was the Electronic Era. During this era,
messages could meet their match in an instant. People did not have to wait for it to be delivered over
time. The third development of mass media is the digital era. The digital era includes images and
sounds converted into an electronic signal (Campbell, Martin, Fabos, 2016, ). Messages are being
delivered faster than ever before. These are the three significant developments in the last century.
These Eras all greatly affected American culture. During the paper Era, people lived on farms
(Campbell, Martin, Fabos, 2016, ). Once stories such as books, and newspapers were developed, they
could reach a lot of people. The written word did not change according to who told it. It made sure
that everybody got the same information. The electronic Era also had a significant influence on

Occupational stress in an increasing topic and focus where stress is concern in the workplace. More
and more people are becoming ill due to work and have to take a number of sick days to recupriate for
more work hours. What causes this is based on a number of factors which researchers are aiming at
looking into, hence the increase of interest in the field of occupational psychology. Occupational

Therefore, the more hours work equal to the more impact occupational stress would have on the
person. Take for example someone who work 40 hours a week, which is the typical timeframe. This
person is influence by work for almost 24% of their week. 24% is a lot of time, that is one quarter of a

I tried look straight to the sun just for a few seconds. The outcome turned out that I was color blind for

Gateways To Art Analysis
The figure 1.120 on page 123 of Gateways to Art depicts a 3 dimensional piece of art called
Monogram. Inside the work includes mixed media with taxidermy goat, rubber tire, and a tennis ball.
The work was done by Robert Rauschenberg from Sweden. There is strong emphasis on the goat,
making it the focal point of the mass. The installation of the tire is wrapped around the goat s torso,
while the goat is mounted onto the center of the wood frame. The size of the work is monumental
compared to other works of art. The subordination of the painted half of the work prevents the viewer
from looking at the plain pieces of wood. The span of the mount stretches diagonally across the frame.
The addition of red paint brings a sense of luminosity to the work. There are illuminated letters printed
of the wood pieces that draws attention to the left half of the piece. The text says Rauschenberg
created the work as a symbol of himself as a rebel and outcast. The goat relates to a religious

The most obvious being that they are two completely different types of work. The two dimensional
piece (Monogram) presents a feeling of admiration while the three dimensional piece (Twilight in the
Wilderness) presents a feeling of rebellion. Monogram required a lot of space because it has the bigger
