This document evaluates the environmental impact of rigid (concrete) pavements versus flexible (asphalt) pavements by analyzing surface temperature variation. Temperature measurements were taken in different areas of Lima, Peru, including streets with different pavement types and gardens. Flexible pavements were found to reach temperatures up to 30°C, contributing to increased ambient temperatures averaging 17.6°C in the surrounding area. The study aims to demonstrate that rigid pavements generate less environmental impact than flexible pavements in terms of heat generation. Future studies could include additional variables like traffic, reflectance, and construction processes to provide a more complex analysis of sustainable pavement alternatives.

The appearance of premature cracks in freeway chase bodies is a worrying problem that requires in-depth analysis and remedial action. By identifying potential causes and proposing targeted recommendations, this study aims to help the responsible authorities make informed decisions to prevent such problems in the future and ensure the durability of road infrastructure. Premature cracking and rutting are common problems in pavements that can compromise their durability and safety. The use of specific additives in asphalt concrete can help prevent these deficiencies. The use of ZQ1 additive alone can lead to premature cracking in pavements, while PR FLEX 20 additive can increase the risk of rutting. However, a judicious combination of the two additives, with specific percentages of 2% for ZQ1 and 5% for PR FLEX 20, can prevent these shortcomings, improve pavement durability and optimize the mechanical properties of high-modulus asphalt concrete (BBME). In addition, this approach offers a promising solution for improving pavement durability and performance over time, opening the door to further studies to optimize the use of this additive combination in field applications.

Sustainability of the product is becoming a crucial factor for success in the market. Sustainability theory and methods are quite general. This research constitutes a serious attempt to assess the sustainability of plastic sheet piling, and calculate the product carbon footprint. In the case of plastic sheet piling no significant previous research has been done to address sustainability. The product lifecycle including stages such as raw material production, manufacturing, transportation, installation, and disposal/recycling, and its related supply chain have been analysed in detail to identify those factors that have impact on the product carbon footprint and the three main dimensions of sustainability: environmental, social and economic. The installation stage, which is not normally addressed in this kind of studies, has been assessed by the development of a case study.

The study investigates the potential of urban densification to mitigate heat island effects in Vienna, Austria through 3D modeling and microclimate simulations. Study on the Thermal Properties of Mortars with Partial Cement Replacement by...IRJET Journal

Civil engineering is rapidly evolving with the natural, political and environmental development. Due to
a shortage of natural resources, to sustainable development and environmental certificationsrequirements,
recycling of aggregates is increasingly valued.Research is done everywhere in the world (in 2016, more
than a hundred doctoral subjects were proposed in this sense) in order to normalize the use of recycled aggregates,
specify the domain and restrictionsof using concrete constructions design protocols based on recycled
aggregates.Since the 80s, researches are based on the type of the recycled (concrete aggregates,
remains aggregates , glass, rubbers…) and the percentage of it compared to natural aggregates to
study the influence on the basic characteristics of concrete..
The main characteristics studied are the porosity of the concrete, the tensile strength and the compressive
strength. In comparison with natural aggregates, concrete based on recycled aggregates has
lower resistance values of approximately 20% but has better thermal characteristics than about 5% .These
characteristics are basic for the dimensioning especially of the carrier elements so they are demanding
bettertechnical and experimental studies to determine the optimum proportion of recycled aggregates for use in
the preparation of concrete.
In Morocco, recycled aggregates, does not have any specific standards, and is used mainly in roads
and pavements construction. Even if it’s not normalized this use is not recent, in 1999 during the rehabilitation
of the expressway road from Casablanca which was severely damaged on both channels,
the authorities have opted for the reuse of aggregates instead of reloading the existing pavement with
a new one.
The chosen alternative combinesthe replacement of existing material by a bituminous mixture and a
cold instead reprocessing depending of differences of damage and requirement on the structural capacity for
slow and fast lanes.This paper, part of my doctoral research, discusses different aspects of the problem beginning
with a brief description of the advantages of recycling in all of the levels: social, economic… and a review
of the international and national standards in terms of construction and demolition waste generated, recycled
aggregates producedand their utilization in concrete. It also gives a benchmarking of the engineering properties
of recycled aggregates and concludes by proposing some market opportunities and development paths and potential
uses of recycled aggregates

This study investigates the partial replacement of fine aggregate with waste plastic in cement concrete. Various percentages (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) of fine aggregate were replaced with shredded plastic bottles to examine workability and mechanical properties. The workability of mixes increased with higher plastic content due to plastic's smooth texture. However, density and compressive strength decreased with increasing plastic replacement. While a 5% replacement produced properties close to reference concrete, strengths significantly reduced at higher plastic contents. The study concluded that waste plastic can successfully replace up to 5% of fine aggregate without detrimental long-term effects, providing a way to utilize plastic waste in construction applications.

The researchers used plastic waste to partially replace cement in making paver blocks. They tested different mixtures of plastic waste, quarry dust, and sea sand. The optimal mixture was found to be a 1:1.5:1 ratio of plastic waste to quarry dust to sea sand. Tests on the resulting paver blocks showed an average compressive strength of 1.012 N/mm2 and a water absorption of less than 3%. This study examines the effect of response reduction factors (R factors) on reinforced concrete (RC) framed structures through nonlinear dynamic analysis. Three RC frame models with varying heights (4, 8, and 12 stories) were analyzed in ETABS software under different R factors ranging from 1 to 5. The results showed that displacement increased as the R factor decreased, indicating less linear behavior for lower R factors. Drift also decreased proportionally with increasing R factors from 1 to 5. Shear forces in the frames decreased with higher R factors. In general, R factors of 3 to 5 produced more satisfactory performance with less displacement and drift. Civil engineering is rapidly evolving with the natural, political and environmental development. Due to
a shortage of natural resources, to sustainable development and environmental certificationsrequirements,
recycling of aggregates is increasingly valued.Research is done everywhere in the world (in 2016, more
than a hundred doctoral subjects were proposed in this sense) in order to normalize the use of recycled aggregates,
specify the domain and restrictionsof using concrete constructions design protocols based on recycled
aggregates.Since the 80s, researches are based on the type of the recycled (concrete aggregates,
remains aggregates , glass, rubbers…) and the percentage of it compared to natural aggregates to
study the influence on the basic characteristics of concrete..
The main characteristics studied are the porosity of the concrete, the tensile strength and the compressive
strength. In comparison with natural aggregates, concrete based on recycled aggregates has
lower resistance values of approximately 20% but has better thermal characteristics than about 5% .These
characteristics are basic for the dimensioning especially of the carrier elements so they are demanding
bettertechnical and experimental studies to determine the optimum proportion of recycled aggregates for use in
the preparation of concrete.
In Morocco, recycled aggregates, does not have any specific standards, and is used mainly in roads
and pavements construction. Even if it’s not normalized this use is not recent, in 1999 during the rehabilitation
of the expressway road from Casablanca which was severely damaged on both channels,
the authorities have opted for the reuse of aggregates instead of reloading the existing pavement with
a new one.
The chosen alternative combinesthe replacement of existing material by a bituminous mixture and a
cold instead reprocessing depending of differences of damage and requirement on the structural capacity for
slow and fast lanes.This paper, part of my doctoral research, discusses different aspects of the problem beginning

of the international and national standards in terms of construction and demolition waste generated, recycled

This study investigates the partial replacement of fine aggregate with waste plastic in cement concrete. Various percentages (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) of fine aggregate were replaced with shredded plastic bottles to examine workability and mechanical properties. The workability of mixes increased with higher plastic content due to plastic's smooth texture. However, density and compressive strength decreased with increasing plastic replacement. While a 5% replacement produced properties close to reference concrete, strengths significantly reduced at higher plastic contents. The study concluded that waste plastic can successfully replace up to 5% of fine aggregate without detrimental long-term effects, providing a way to utilize plastic waste in construction applications.

Three RC frame models with varying heights (4, 8, and 12 stories) were analyzed in ETABS software under different R factors ranging from 1 to 5. The results showed that displacement increased as the R factor decreased, indicating less linear behavior for lower R factors. DEEP LEARNING FOR SMART GRID INTRUSION DETECTION: A HYBRID CNN-LSTM-BASED MODELijaia
As digital technology becomes more deeply embedded in power systems, protecting the communication
networks of Smart Grids (SG) has emerged as a critical concern. Distributed Network Protocol 3 (DNP3)
represents a multi-tiered application layer protocol extensively utilized in Supervisory Control and Data
Acquisition (SCADA)-based smart grids to facilitate real-time data gathering and control functionalities.
Robust Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are necessary for early threat detection and mitigation because
of the interconnection of these networks, which makes them vulnerable to a variety of cyberattacks. To
solve this issue, this paper develops a hybrid Deep Learning (DL) model specifically designed for intrusion
detection in smart grids. The proposed approach is a combination of the Convolutional Neural Network
(CNN) and the Long-Short-Term Memory algorithms (LSTM). We employed a recent intrusion detection
dataset (DNP3), which focuses on unauthorized commands and Denial of Service (DoS) cyberattacks, to
train and test our model. The results of our experiments show that our CNN-LSTM method is much better
at finding smart grid intrusions than other deep learning algorithms used for classification. In addition,
our proposed approach improves accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score, achieving a high detection
accuracy rate of 99.50%.

signal or if a car rolls over. Then with the help of GSM module and GPS module, the location
will be sent to the emergency contact. Then after conforming the location necessary action will
be taken. If the person meets with a small accident or if there is no serious threat to anyone’s
life, then the alert message can be terminated by the driver by a switch provided in order to
avoid wasting the valuable time of the medical rescue team.
