Ecstasy In A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings
A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings illustrates how the angel utilizes patience to regain his
emotional and physical strength and escape from the abuse of the townspeople, demonstrated by
the regrowth of his feathers. After the angel had been sick and suffering for some time, he begins
to regrow some new feathers, but he must have known the reason for those changes, for he was
quite careful that no one should notice them, that no one should hear the sea chanteys that he
sometimes sang under the stars showing that the angel s progressive improvement in strength
connects to his improving morale. As the angel patiently waits for his feathers to grow back, he
begins to become stronger not only physically but also in spirit, with his singing of sea chanteys

Oscar Pistorius s Controversy
On September 11th, 2014 it was declared that Oscar Pistorius was not guilty of premeditated
murder. A few months later, however, Pistorius was found guilty of culpable homicide. Pistorius
was then sentenced to five years in prison for his crime. He was to serve his time in the Kgosi

Cuneiform Vs Hieroglyphics
Cuneiform and hieroglyphics were both writing systems that emerged at the dawn of humanity, but
their legacy and impact were vastly different. The two systems not only demonstrate the early
concept of writing but show contrasting elements of civilization in globalism vs nationalism,
internal vs external, connection vs isolation. The two systems certainly diverged from one another,
but to understand this, the origins of the two writingsystems must be examined. Around the dawn of
civilization, in the last half of the third millennium, abstract symbols (meaning letters, numbers, and
other things that represent abstract thought) started to form from proto writing that had been
present for millennia in the Nile valley before the first abstract... Show more content on

But it is undeniable that hieroglyphics had more influence on history than cuneiform did, in spite of
the fact that cuneiform was more advanced for its time. This is the first way that these systems
contrast; sophistication. Cuneiform was a more advanced system than hieroglyphics simply
because cuneiform was more abstract and it was far quicker to write Sumerian with it.
Hieroglyphics was, for much of its existence, a logographic system, making it in some ways closer
to drawing than to abstract writing such as cuneiform. However, in the Neolithic times,
sophistication had an inverse relationship with influence, that is to say, that less advanced writing
systems had more influence and clout with other cultures. This may have been because it is hard to
teach an illiterate culture who may adopt a writing system, a complex, writing scheme, or a system
that doesn t work in their language. Or, it may because the more advanced a writing system is, the
fewer people in your culture understand how to use it. This can be seen with cuneiform and
hieroglyphics in a very stark way. Not many cultures used cuneiform, and when they did it worked
poorly with the language it was being used in, while hieroglyphs informed many other writing
systems, such as Hebrew, Greek, and Phoenician; it cannot be understated the

Abstract
We will discuss in this paper the data warehousing and the online processing of data. We will
describe the best ways to manage the data and the difficulties that you could face. Also we will talk
about how can we solve or reduce these difficulties.
Database Management Systems (DBMS)
Database Management Systems (DBMS) maximize:

в—ЏData integrity
в—ЏData independence
Data Warehousing
Data warehousing is a powerful business intelligence tool for maximizing the organization s
investment in the information technology. It is can be describe as a collection of decision support
technologies, maid to allow executive, manager, and analyst, to make faster decisions.
IT managers need to learn and implement data warehousing because it is very powerful tool
provides storage, functionality and responsiveness to queries beyond the capabilities of today s
databases. It also improves the data access performance. Since it is very rare today to remove the
data because most users have only read access also rapid access to a larger volume of data which
could be inconvenient sometimes.
Software and systems support started to design systems to support decision makers as online
analytical processing (OLAP), decision support systems (DSS) and data mining.

Edmund of King Lear as Nietzsche s Free Spirit
In King Lear, Shakespeare creates a brilliant tragedy whose plot is driven primarily by its villains.
Of these, Edmund stands alone as a man who makes his fortune, surrounded by those who seize
fortune only when it is handed to them. Shakespeare s ability to create a vivid, living character in
the space of a few lines of speech triumphs in Edmund, who embodies a totally different moral
system than that of Shakespeare s era. Three centuries later, Friedrich Nietzsche s philosophy of the
Free Spirit would respect these values.
Like Edmund, Nietzsche s unorthodox views have been deemed villainous ever since the time they
were written. The Free Spirit is defined not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Edmund, these characteristics are obvious he questions the world created by men, but at the
same time reflects that he is bound to Nature. Nietzsche likewise saw the rigid values of
Christianity as false ones, clumsily laid over man s true, changing nature. The hierarchy of the
good, however, is not fixed and identical at all times. If someone prefers revenge to justice, he is
moral by the standard of an earlier culture, yet by the standard of the present culture he is immoral. 1
When my dimensions are as well compact,
My mind as generous, and my shape as true,
As honest madam s issue? Why brand they us
With base? with baseness? bastardy? base, base?
Who, in the lusty stealth of nature, take
More composition and fierce quality
Than doth, within a dull, stale, tired bed,
Go to the creating a whole tribe of fops,
Got tween asleep and wake? (I.2.7 15)
Edmund continues by expressing his outrage at the labeling of a man who is just as rightly made
up as another, but is forced into a second rate status by a society ruled by the dull and stale. Here
he also acknowledges his humanity, but distinguishes himself from others by a quality of fierceness.
Again, Nietzsche s ideas shine through. Edmund cannot conceive why his station must be defined
for him, when he is a fiercer human than others. Nietzsche s Will to Power follows this reasoning
closely. The

The Value Of Loyalty In The Odyssey By Homer
Loyalty is one of the important factors that influences people because loyalty provides stability
for any long lasting relationship. In The Odyssey, an epic poem by Homer, Penelope shows us the
value of loyalty because she is hopeful that her husband will come back, and she does not want to
marry anyone who is not him. Penelopeis a good example of loyalty in The Odysseybecause she
proves her loyalty several times. When Odysseusis gone suitors began to throw themselves at her,
and they would do anything to get to marry her. Since she was a queen, Penelope would have
been expected to marry after her spouce died but she stayed true to her husband, Odysseus, by
coming up with excuses not to marry the suitors until she knew for sure that he was dead. To
avoid choosing a suitor to marry she said that she would chose a husband as soon as she finished
weaving a shroud for her father in law, Laertes, even though he was not sick or ready to die yet.
Everyday she would show them the progress that she had made weaving the shroud, but every
night before she went to bed she would unweave all of her work and start over the next day so that
the shroud would never be finished.
Her very words,/ and despite our pride and passion we believed her./ So by day she d weave at her
great and growing web / by night, by the light of the torches set beside her,/ she would unravel all

Gateways To Art Analysis
The figure 1.120 on page 123 of Gateways to Art depicts a 3 dimensional piece of art called
Monogram. Inside the work includes mixed media with taxidermy goat, rubber tire, and a tennis
ball. The work was done by Robert Rauschenberg from Sweden. There is strong emphasis on the
goat, making it the focal point of the mass. The installation of the tire is wrapped around the
goat s torso, while the goat is mounted onto the center of the wood frame. The size of the work
is monumental compared to other works of art. The subordination of the painted half of the
work prevents the viewer from looking at the plain pieces of wood. The span of the mount
stretches diagonally across the frame. The addition of red paint brings a sense of luminosity to
the work. There are illuminated letters printed of the wood pieces that draws attention to the left
half of the piece. The text says Rauschenberg created the work as a symbol of himself as a rebel
and outcast. The goat relates to a religious perspective as goats used to be offered as a sacrifice by
Christians to God. This work was so odd at the time because it was not a sculpture or painting,
making it unique in its own way. The figure 1.81... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

not require the same volume. The overall texture was different because of the material used.
Although both presented a clear focal point, the objects were different. The works were similar in
the fact that they were both narratives. They both revealed the character of the artist which could

Stephen King, Christine
Stephen King is perhaps the most widely known American writer of his generation, yet his
distinctions include publishing as two authors at once: Beginning in 1966, he wrote novels that
were published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. When twelve, he began submitting
stories for sale. At first ignored and then scorned by mainstream critics, by the late 1980 s his
novels were reviewed regularly in The New York Times Book Review, with increasing favor.
Beginning in 1987, most of his novels were main selections of the Book of the Month Club, which
in 1989 created the Stephen KingLibrary, committed to keeping King s novels in print in hardcover.
King published more than one hundred short stories (including the collections Night Shift,... Show

Christine is another fractured Cinderella story, Carrie for boys. Arnie Cunningham, a nearsighted,
acne scarred loser, falls in love with a car, a passionate (red and white)
Plymouth Fury, one of the long ones with the big fins, that he names Christine. An automotive
godmother, she brings Arnie, in fairy tale succession, freedom, success, power, and love: a home
away from overprotective parents, a cure for acne, hit andrun revenge on bullies, and a beautiful
girl, Leigh Cabot. Soon, however, the familiar triangle emerges, of boy, girl, and car, and
Christine is revealed as a femme fatale driven by the spirit of her former owner, a malcontent
named Roland LeBay. Christine is the medium for his death wish on the world, for his all
devouring, everlasting Fury. LeBay s aggression possesses Arnie, who reverts into an older,
tougher self, then into the mythic teenaged hood that King has called the prototype of 1950 s
werewolf films, and finally into some ancient carrion eater, or primal self. As automotive
monster, Christine comes from a variety of sources, including the folk tradition of the death car
and a venerable techno horror premise, as seen in King s Trucks and Maximum Overdrive. King s
main focus, however, is the mobile youth culture that has come down from the 1950 s by way of
advertising, popular songs, film, and national pastimes. Christine is the car as a projection of

The Woman In White Was Authored In 1859 By Wilkie Collins,
The Woman in White was authored in 1859 by Wilkie Collins, which is regarded as one of the
most sensational and finest mysterious novels. The book outlines the role of women in the
society. The female gender is perceived and portrayed as inferior to their male counterparts.
Women are expected to look after children and their husbands, as well as do housework. They are
not allowed to access higher education. Also, the middle class experience is more embraced than
the senior level, as the latter is characterized with riches, extravagance, and laziness, unlike the
former which is morally upright and rational. Through this paper, it will be not only pointing out

guard of either their uncles or their husbands. Looking after their husbands and children as well
as to do housework are woman primary responsibilities. The dress code of the feminine is
designed and mandated by the males, which has been tailored in a manner naturally capacitated to

Medical Progress Made By The End Of The Renaissance
What s the Renaissance? Well the Renaissance is a time of great intellectual, scientific and
cultural development, in our case we are looking at The Medical Renaissance which was from

technology and new discoveries and by the end of this piece of writing, I will have answered the
question What Medical Progress Had Been Made By The End Of The Renaissance?

And that s all I have to say about that because those words speak for them selves.
The Doctors and Healers that were around during that time were very well educated and trained

Physicians These were well trained doctors, they would study the works of Galen and Hippocrates

Horror Argument For Horror Movies
Horror Genre Argument
One in four college students in a recent study said they experience lingering effects of a frightful
movie or TV experience from childhood. (Bernie DeGroat) Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused
by the belief the someone or something is dangerous causing pain, or threats. It is not appropriate
for middle schoolers to read classic horror stories like The Tell Tale Heart , because they can cause
them anxiety and it can make them aggressive after watching scary movies.
Horror movies can cause middle schoolers anxiety because horror movies have different
components not appropriate for children. This fear and anxiety of horror movies can cause pain
or threats. This means that even after the movie is done, middle schoolers can feel anxious and
uneasy because they saw violence and other things in the movie that can happen in the real
world. In the text The Tell Tale Heart the narrator states I made up my mind to take the life of
the old man, thus riding myself of the eye forever . This means that the narrator has decided to
take the life of the old man because of his eye. Middle Schoolers might interpret this as okay to kill
a man because of his eye.
There are many different types of horror. These types of horror can cause aggression. Aggression is
hostile or violent behavior or attitudes toward another. This happens because of the violence they
experience in horror films. In the online text Scary movies can have lasting effects on children and
teens,

1 THE BILDUNGSROMAN NOVEL
This German term began to be used in the second half of the 18th century by the critic and
philosopher Wilhelm Dilthey. He stressed five main points about the bildungsroman novels:
(1) the idea of Bildung, or formation, cultivation, education, shaping of a single main character,
normally of a young man; (2) individualism, especially the emphasis on the uniqueness of the
protagonist and the primacy of his private life and thoughts, although these are at the same time
representative of an age and culture; (3) the biographical element, usually supplied from the author
s own life in what Dilthey calls the conscious and artistic presentation of what is typically human
through the depiction of a particular individual life ; (4) the

stocks we deemed were good investments. We observed that this specific portfolio gave us more

Evaluation Of A New Hybrid Strategy
Abstract
Testing is an important process in software development and widely used by developers to reveal
bugs. Often, software failures can lead to disastrous consequences such as loss of data, fortune and
lives. Test engineers have generated a set of test cases to validate against the user requirements. The
highest number of reduction can save a cost of testing. When dealing with a large line of code
(LOCs) there still has redundancy happened. Our experiment studies about hybrid tReduct
GNA_SA and the existing strategies to counter test redundancy reduction issues. In our experiment,
we apply four (tReductLAHC, tReductSA, tReductGNA and tReduct GNA_SA) test suite reduction
strategies for six different situation. After that, we then measure the effectiveness of the diversified
solutions of four test suite reduction strategies. Our experiment shows that a new hybrid strategy
tReduct GNA_SA offers more effectiveness to reduce redundancy compared to existing work.

Paternal Rearing Styles
Furthermore, there are other ways besides a daughter s perception of her father that parenting
styles can affect the development of eating disorders in females (Jones, Leung, Harris, 2006). The
research of Jones, Leung, and Harris dove deeper into the different paternal rearing behaviors and
core beliefs and their influence in the development of disordered eatingbehaviors in females rather
than simply looking at perceptionalone, and they found some similar themes. Their research
discovered that core beliefs i.e. abandonment, vulnerability to harm, etc. mediated the relationship
between different paternal behaviors and the factors that can directly cause eating psychopathology.
Individuals with disordered eating tended to have more negative memories of paternal rearing and
higher levels of three core beliefs: abandonment, defectiveness/shame, and vulnerability to harm.
This research also found that the daughter perceiving their father as overprotective was predictive
of a drive for thinness. This data shows that paternal rearing behaviors are related to daughters
developing and maintaining eating disorders. Therefore, fathers are pertinent when considering
how body image issues/eating disorders may develop and be maintained. Both of these research

improve his life, but this is false. He was very violent and aggressive, but he wanted the best for
his city and empire.(Jeremiah 25.9) Nebuchadnezzar would also dream about godspeaking to him.
He dreamt an image of a sculpture of himself. He would have a head of gold representing the
strongest civilizations at the time which was arguably the one he and his father built. Next on the

Daniel then stepped up to make an attempt at the interpritation. He successfully interprited it
which then had Nebuchadnezzar promote him to a main advisor. (Daniel 2:47) Later,
Nebuchadnezzar created a gold statue of himself. People of the empire were ordered to bow
down to this statue when the music played. People who failed to complete this task were killed
by Nebuchadnezzar. The most known case of this was of Daniel s friends Shadrach, Meschach,
and Abednego. They were thrown into a boiling furnace when they decided against bowing
down. Surprisingly, these three men came back out alive. Nebuchadnezzar is quoted for saying
this quote in the bible, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent
his angel and delivered his servants, who trusted in him, and set aside the king s command, and
yielded up their bodies rather than serve and worship any god except their own God. Therefore I

Public Health Assumptions
The preconception and assumption that I have about people and the world strongly affects how I

people I interact with all have a substantial impact on my the view of public health and research.
Besides, my nationality, my age, gender, and sexual orientation all strongly affect the way I

reflections about my preconceptions and assumptions, I realize that the world is experienced
differently. Therefore, it is important that scholars in public health appreciate this reality and should
be able to relate with different epistemology in social research. Furthermore, I know that sometimes
the challenges to improving health care, for example, are not found in the statistical significance of
data. For instance, after the construction of a health centre within the community, government
evaluation revealed that delivery under a skilled health worker was still low in the community.
Under such situations, I can only improve outcome if my intention is to understand the meaning
that the community attaches to childbirth. On the other hand, a positivist approach could easily be

Through the process of the following organizational change, leadership is essential. With leadership,
comes communication, which in this case, is utilized to discuss potential problems and
recommendations. Leadership is first and foremost a communication process, or set of processes.
Every leadership behavior is enacted through communication (Witherspoon, 2004).
Communication is necessary for Garden State University because there are different campuses
and divisions. There is a main campus, as well as a northern campus 45 miles away and a
southern campus located 60 miles away from the main campus. This makes communication
difficult because it is not always possible for every faculty member to be in the same place. There
is also two major divisions within Garden State University, this includes the Office of the Senior
Vice President for academic Affairs and the Office of the Senior Vice President for Administration

What Is The Key Anatomical Features Of The Urinary System
It is the main excretory system
The Urinary System is the regulator of fluids, electrolytes and homeostatic balance within the body.
The key anatomical features of the urinary system are: two kidneys and two ureters, the urinary
bladder and the urethra.
The kidneys lay retroperitionally, one on each side of the dorsal body wall; each kidney extends
from the 12th thoracic vertebra, to the superior lumbar vertebra. The kidneys are protected by the
11th and 12th pair of ribs.
The two ureters are narrow tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
The bladder is a hollow muscular organ, triangular shaped and is the holding place for urine. It is
located in the lower abdomen in the pelvis while above and behind the pubic bone.

How White Tailed Deer Affect Native And Invasive Plant...
How White tailed Deer Effect Native and Invasive Plant Species Populations in the Eastern United
States.
Introduction
Whitetail deer have come to be known as a keystone species, species known for affecting other
organisms in an ecosystem. Deer are known as a keystone species in forest habitats such as in the
Eastern United States because they are capable of destroying potential forest habitat of other
organisms (McShea and Rappole, 1992). For example, deer have a negative impact on forest
ecosystems by trampling and over browsing over vegetation, without creating any habitat for other
native species. Throughout the eastern United States, the abundance of white tailed deer
(Odocoileus virginianus) has increased dramatically over the last century (Taggart and Long,
2015). Population increases could be due to increased habitat fragmentation from land
development, reduced predators and/or hunting pressure. Individual deer ranges varied during
seasonal times, deer movements are usually greatest during the peak breeding months from late
fall through winter (Williams et. al, 2012). Regardless of the cause, high deer densities can have
significant effects on plant communities such as plant decay and/or even death. Deer consume a
large amounts of plant biomass (leaves, buds, flowers and fruits) and directly reduce the growth,
reproduction, and survival of herbaceous and woody plant species (Shen et. al, 2016). The impacts
of white tailed deer on forests along the Eastern United

Identity In My Life
What is Identity? For most people, they would say that it is who you are. But, it means so much
more. Identity is the experiences that will influence your life. Your identity is who you are and
the decisions you make. Without identity, you wouldn t be who you are today. Your identity can
change in a matter of seconds, and there is no way to ensure one s outcome In my life, I have
had many events that make up my identity. One of the biggest events that have affected my life
is when I had my first seizure. I was around 5 years old. It was around 5 at night, and I was at my
babysitter s house. That night when we were eating dinner, I know that I didn t like the type of
pizza it was because it was supreme. Once I had finished my breadstick, I was going to grab
another one. In an instant, my babysitter, Laurie, had slapped my hand. I didn t cry, but it did
make me upset because she could have said no. After a couple of minutes, my vision got very
blurry, and the only thing I could hear is a ringing noise. My body went numb, and all of a
sudden everything went black. When I woke up I was on the floor with a throbbing headache.
My babysitter had already called my mom, and she was already on her way to the house. My
mom only worked a couple minutes away from her house so it didn t take very long for her to get
there. When she came inside the house, she looked scared. She kept asking me what happened, but
I had no idea. She then grabbed a majority of my stuff and took me to the

What Is The Destruction Of Mercury In Latin America
In a sample of 200 fish from the Madre de Dios River near mining operations, 56% of the fish
had mercury levels which exceeded the World Health Organization s acceptable guidelines by

This problem is not only endemic to Madre de Dios, but also in the majority of developing
countries in Latin America and Africa where multinational corporations have established gold
mining operations. Artisanal gold mines have released more than 30 tons of mercury and caused
the destruction of approximately 50,000 hectares of the Madre de Dios region (Dupraz Dobias,

Aboriginal people was new to me because I am from another nation where such kind of
individuals does not exist. I had not taken any subject in my country related to the issues that are
existing in another country such as in America, Canada etc. Canada is the first place where I knew
about aboriginal people. The following paragraphs will show about the situations faced by the
aboriginal people in the past and present day. I got the information about this from the class lecture
notes and from watching the videos related to the indigenous population. It is quite surprising that
the condition of aboriginals was really worst in Canada. The biggest problem is that the people are
suffering from the culture loss. The indigenous persons have to opt with the English language that
is mandatory for them to become a citizen of Canada and they do not get attached to their mother
tongue. A huge change to occur in their life, as they cannot perform their original lifestyle in a new
country. The culture loss was also seen among the students that were sent to the Residential Schools
because they were taken away from the parents and taught another language due to which they lost
their traditional language to communicate with their parents. But afterwards, the government regret

Matta Ballesteros Propaganda
Matta Ballesteros essentially served as a middleman between Mexico s Guadalajara cartel and
the Colombian cartels. He had been arrested as early as 1970 in the U.S. with 26 kilos of
cocaine, but escaped prison within a year. He also had many connections with the Honduran
military and helped finance a different unofficial cocaine coup. That one took place in Honduras
in 1978 and the CIA supported the military coup because the Honduran dictator, General Paz
Garcia, was a military ally. Clearly the U.S. government prioritized national security goals over
drug trafficking. Even the timing of Matta Ballesteros s capture was suspect. Ioan Grillo, author of

The Importance Of Guerrilla Warfare In The Revolutionary War
Guerrilla Warfare led to the Success of the Revolutionary war
A sneaky, stealthy war tactic called Guerilla Warfare won the American Revolutionary War for the
Patriots. Guerrilla warfare is a tactic that was practiced a lot in the revolutionary war and was
without a doubt one of the few reasons the Patriots defeated the British. Guerrilla warfare helped
the colonists win the Revolutionary war. This tactic was used successfully used in the Battle of
Trenton, the Battle of Lexington and Concord, and was widely practiced by Francis Marion in the
south.
Guerrilla warfare is a tactic that does not involve head on head warfare. It is a tactic where the side
using it will hide within their surroundings. For example, the Patriots in the Revolutionary War
used all of their surroundings to their advantage like trees, rocks, houses, and walls.
Guerrilla warfare was a big part in winning many battles in the Revolutionary war. One of biggest
wins using this tactic was the Battle of Trenton. The Battle of Trenton was fought December 26,
1776 in Trenton, New Jersey. General George Washingtondecided to take the Hessians by surprise.
The Hessians were approximately 30,000 German soldiers that Great Britain hired to help them
win the war and about 1,400 were in Trenton. General George Washington took his soldiers and
crossed the Delaware river at the stroke of midnight. They were going to attack the Hessians while
they were all sleeping. Most people think that the

Essay on Machiavelli and the Roman Empire
Machiavelli argued, as Hegel would later, that one must look to history and the accounts of
previous nations events in order to quot;sense...that flavor that they have in themselves quot; in
common with those from the past (Discourses 6). This seems to follow the adage that those who
do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, yet for Machiavelli he seems more concerned
with actually emulating history in order to repeat success than looking out for particular things to
avoid. For this reason, he pulls examples from an eclectic range of histories in order to demonstrate
how his principles in both The Princeand the Discourses on Livy, when followed, will lead to a
successful state. In particular, he refers to the Roman Republic... Show more content on

Starting out as a principality, one prince after the other begins to quot;surpass the others in
sumptuousness and lasciviousness, quot; prompting the people to overthrow him to rid themselves
of his tyranny. An aristocracy, which Machiavelli means as a rule of the Good, then takes control,
but shortly thereafter they too succumb to the temptation of exploiting their power. Again, the
masses must usurp the rule of the few and, still remembering what events had transpired in the
past, they keep the power for themselves and establish a popular state. In spite of their good
intentions, the people soon find they can t keep a firm control on the populace ( quot;a thousand
injuries were done every day quot;) so they regress to a principality. Such a sequence of events
would likely go on ad infinitum if the transitions didn t weaken the state to such a degree that its
lasting one complete turn of the cycle is less likely than becoming quot;subject to a neighboring
state that is ordered better than it quot; (Discourse 11 13). The history of France during the
eighteenth and nineteenth centuries is exemplary of how a state, fortunate to not have been
overtaken, will cycle through different types of rule due to the eventual erosion

Columbus Before The Council Of Samaca Analysis
The artwork my group of three chose to describe for this assignment is called Columbus Before the
Council of Salamaca. William H. Powell painted it in 1847. The professor said to identify three
stylistic characteristics, however I am going to identify four of my favorite stylistic characteristics.
Theatricality, immediacy, human drama, and descriptive realism of particulars are the four stylistic
characteristics from different stylistic periods I am going to pinpoint and describe in the painting.
Theatricality is the use of light and shadowy dark to create a spotlight effect, also known as
tenebrism. The artist painted tiny segments of windows behind the figures to allow the bright

Caravaggio painted it in the year ca. 1597 1601 and it can be found on page 539 of the texbook.
The artworks named the Calling of Mathew and Columbus Before the Council of Salamaca are
both similar in many ways. They both have the four stylistic characteristics of human drama,
immediacy, theatricality, and discriptive realism of particulars. In Columbus Before the Council
of Salamaca Powell used the same technique as Caravaggio to create windoms that allow the
afternoon sunlight to reflect on the figures at a particular angle. Powell made his windoms
visible to the viewer, however Caravaggio did not; he just gave the viewer a sense of having one.
They both used light and shadowy dark to create a spot light effect on their figures, the term
known as theatricality. Both of these paintings display a great deal of human drama, the first
painting show Columbus infront the concil men trying to convince them of his finding, while the
second is a babically scene of Jesus Calling Mathew, who was then Levi the tax collector. Those
surrounding Jesus were surprise that he wanted a man that must of them thought was the biggest
sinner of all to follow him and so were those listening to Mr. Columbus. The immediacy play a
great role in both of the paintings, in Calling of Saint Matthew, Jesus raise his left hand to point at

Analysis Of The Bicycle Thieves
Two scenes from the Bicycle Thieves that although they have nothing to do with the plot they
are essential for the film are: the scene where many bicycles and parts of them are being sold in
a piazza, this is an important scene because it adds to the film a feeling of optimism that ends up
turning into hopelessness. The other scene is the one where the thief has an epileptic fit adding to
the film a feeling of despair. These two scenes also contributes to the overall meaning of the plot
by showing us that the harder you try to accomplish what you want in life the more obstacles you
will have and the more hopelessness you will fell.
The first scene where bicycles are being sold at the piazza is very important. Ricci is hopeful at
first, and so are the watchers, that he will be able to find his bike at that place and all his
problems will be solved. He looks everywhere for it, at first it seems like his bike might be there
because there is an overwhelmingly amount of bicycles and pieces of them and the people around
him helping him are very optimistic, but as he keeps looking and looking things start getting more
complicated because every bike, tire, bell, and frame he sees could belong to his bike giving him
hope that he has found it but the moment he realizes is not his, the hopes he had to find it sinks
deeper. We can observe this when he s looking at the bikes lined up in minute 34:08, when he s
looking around an expression of anxiety and disappointment forms in his face

Charles Manson is an example of a leader who used his power for pure evil. Charles Manson was
never actually found guilty of the murders committed in 1969. He was found guilty of first degree
murder of directing the murders. He was originally sentenced to death but in 1972 the California
Supreme Court invalidated all outstanding death sentences to life in prison.
To this day, Charles Mansonstill has a loyal cult like following. His leadership style was to prey on
those who struggled in life, those who did not have a solid life and were looking for direction.
Once he was able to reach them he would use coercion, fear and an array of drugs to keep them

There was a core group within the Manson Family. It was composed of two young men, Charles
Tex Watson, Bobby Beausoleil, and four young impressionable women. It would be this group
that Manson was able to brainwash to commit murders. They believed he was Jesus and that they

These different shifts depict the number of customer service employees and the time frames they are
scheduled. The home improvement retail industry has two types of customers; the professional
/contractor and the do it yourself individual. These customers differentiating shopping trends and
support needs are taken into consideration when scheduling employees for the floor. In evaluating
the proposed schedule, business trend, customer demographic and operating shifts were taken into
consideration when allocating customer service employees during operating hours.
Schedule Shifts
The majority of professional/contractor customers shop during early hours of the morning which is
known as the opening shift (7am 10am). Professional/contract customers are experienced and have
knowledge of the merchandise that they need and where it s located in the store given their visit
frequency. Given these facets, the number of customer service employees on the floor is much
higher than is needed. The proposed employee numbers are higher than needed and I recommend
the AMC advance planners schedule estimates for the times between 7am and 11am be used. Using
AMC advance planners estimated schedule provides lower staffing costs and gives you the ability
to utilize the employees at a different time during store

When it comes to the topic of education, most of us will readily agree that as students, we need
to be dedicated learners. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of how
we should be educated. Some are convinced that we need to stick with what is currently in place.
From this perspective, it is completely unnecessary to do something different if the method being
used works. However, others maintain that we need to change. According to this view, people
need to move away from what we are comfortable and familiar with in order to be better students.
In sum, then, the issue is whether we should keep how our education works the same or not. My
own view is that we need to change the system of education. Though I concede that sometimes it
makes sense to keep what is not broken, I still maintain that for a better learning experience, we
must change. Although some argue that what is already in place is enough for our education, I
claim that stepping outside of our comfort zone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freire describes that The banking concept of education, which serves the interests of oppression, is
also necrophilic. Based on a mechanistic, static, naturalistic, spatialized view of consciousness, it
transforms students into receiving objects. It attempts to control thinking and action, leads women
and men to adjust to the world, and inhibits their creative power (261). According to Freire, the
banking concept causes oppression. Under it, students are nothing more than objects that receive
knowledge. Therefore, it is necrophilic, treating the students as if they were dead and could not
think. I think that the banking concept of education restricts students and what they are capable of.
Rather than actively involving the students, the students are fed information from the teachers. The
goal of education is for the students to actually learn, and the only way that can be accomplished is

Essay Jack the Ripper
AP English IV
Book Report
Jack the Ripper
Jack the Ripper was a notorious serial killer, whom some believe never even existed at all.
From August to November 1888, Jack the Ripper terrorized the East End of London by being
responsible for the death and mutilation of at least seven female prostitutes. The destitute East End
is also known as the White Chapel district of London, England. A few of the prostitutes were
targeted as they were leaving brothels in and around the White Chapel district. Jack the Ripper
seemed to be targeting drunken women who had no sense of time or what they were doing (Jack
the Ripper).
Jack the Ripper is just a name given to an unidentified late 19th century murderer. No one actually
knows who this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rest of the responsibility lies with the Ripper. He may have been a sexual serial killer of a type
all too common in the 1990 s, but he was also bent on terrifying a city and making the whole
world take notice of him by leaving his horribly mutilated victims in plain sight. Lastly, the Ripper
was never caught and it is the mysteries surrounding this killer that both add to the romance of the
story and creating an intellectual puzzle that people still want to solve ( Ebsco host).
It is unclear just how many women the Ripper killed. It is generally accepted that he killed five,
though some have written that he murdered only four while others say seven or more. The public,
press, and even many junior police officers believed that the Ripper was responsible for nine
slayings. The five that are generally accepted are:
1. Mary Ann (Polly) Nichols murdered Friday, August 31 1888.
2. Annie Chapman, murdered Saturday , September 8, 1888.
3. Elizabeth Stride, murdered Sunday, September 30, 1888.
4. Catharine Eddowes, also murdered that same date.
5. Mary Jane (Marie Jeanette) Kelly, murdered Friday, November 9, 1888. Besides these five there
are good reasons to believe that the first victim was really Martha Tabram who was murdered
Tuesday, august 7, 1888, and there are important considerations for questioning whether Stride was
a Ripper victim. As to the actual number of women that the Ripper killed, there is no simple

Reflection Of A Speech At The Middles Of Speech
When I was waiting to perform at my first speech competition I realized that I couldn t breath. It
was as if all the air in the room had been sucked out. I felt like I had entered an empty, soundless
vacuum, almost as if I had been sucked into space. I half expected myself to become weightless
and float around the room, but this didn t happen. Instead of this, I stood frozen in the middle of
a classroom in front of a dozen other people. I was the center of attention, and I hated every
second of it. I was debating whether or not I should just turn around and sprint out the door, but
before I could make a decision the lady in the front desk smiled at me and said something along
the lines of ready whenever you are . The moment she said this two things crossed my mind: the
first one being I m fucked, and the second being how did I end up here? Unfortunately I didn t have
time to answer that question because at that moment I had to do the hardest thingin front of my life:
performing and speaking in front of others.
When I entered that classroom I knew that I was going to end up having a nervous breakdown in
the middle of my performance, but I didn t expect the tears. I reached a point in my speech where I
just suddenly stopped talking. I couldn t take the panic and fear anymore, so tears started to fall.
This moment felt like it lasted a lifetime, and all I wanted to do was run out that door, but I knew
that I had to get it together. I somehow pulled myself together, choked

Christina Arguilera Beautiful and Beyonce Pretty Hurts have some similarities and differences
between them. The two songs were both created to boost confidence and communicate to insecure
people. Some similarities between the two is the intended audience, the mood, and the subject. The
intended audience for the two is insecure people. The mood for the two is powerful because they
made me feel beautiful. The subject for the two is you are beautiful no matter what. The differences
between the two is the speaker, the tone, the purpose, and the theme. The speakers are Christina

Housing Market Drives out of Economic Recession
When researching past economic recoveries, the housing market is the one to drive the economy
out of recession. That being said, this economic recession hasn t had much of an impact until
recently. America s housing boom had a tremendous influence on the economy for its low prices
and flow of new home construction.
The new construction market in the mid 2000 s was flourishing. People saw building a home as
an opportunity for a solid investment because prices and rates were so low that certain homes
could depreciate extremely slowly. However, there would be a negative effect from all this low
cost new construction and few were aware of just how devastating it would be to the new
construction market.
In 2005, the market was flooded with a vast array of homes that were all selling at a low price,
and this allowed people to buy and sell homes with minimal effort. Banks were being reckless with
their lending, not giving enough attention to who they were giving mortgages to, as virtually
anybody with a decent credit score could go to a bank and get a mortgage, sometimes without even
going to see if the land and ability for development was there. This created a housing bubble in
2006, and would inevitably come back to hurt a wide range of industries, but few were as damaged
as the new construction industry.
Once things started to get bad, they got really bad for a lot of families who were given mortgages,
who were not properly qualified. There was a major spike in defaults, with

Negative Influence Of Huck Finn
Mark Twain s Huck Finn
Huck Finn story can be a debatable when it comes to history, and what the story is about. Some
argue that Mark Twain s abuse of using the N word triggers racism especially that this book was
written when slavery became illegal. As one student said, It is estimated that the word nigger is used
392 times which reinforces a negative stereotype of African Americans represented by the use of
this derogatory word (Jackson). Some can still argue that this book can be a bad influence to the
youth as they might be using the N word as a racist rant. For some, it is very disturbing, upsetting,
and bringing back the past.
According to Booth, The way Mark Twain portrays Jim is so offensive to me that I get angry in ...

Many times that Huck could ve told the authorities about Jim, but he didn t. On the other hand,
Jim could ve done the same thing to Huck. Both men, did what they think was right. Jim
protected Huck from seeing his dead father. He didn t let Huck see his father s dead body
because he didn t want Huck to get hurt. For example, when Huck wanted to talk about the dead
man and wanted to know how he was killed, but Jim didn t want him to know all that. It would
fetch bad luck; and besides, he said, he might come and ha nt us; he said a man that warn t buried
was more likely to go a ha nting around than one that was planted and comfortable (Twain 137).
When Huck disguised himself a girl, he found out how much people really wanted to capture Jim.
Instead of telling these people Jim s locations, Huck did the right thing by letting Jim know that
they need to leave the place and move. Git up and hump yourself, Jim! There ain t a minute to lose.
They re after us! (Twain 143).
The two men live a dangerous life that any moment, they could be captured, especially Jim. One of
the many times that Huck could have told on Jim, was when some men approached him looking for
five black men run off that night. Instead of letting the men know that he have one black man with

The Raton-Clayton Volcano
The Raton Clayton Volcanic Field and Capulin Volcano
The Raton Clayton volcanic field is about 20 000 km2 in size, and has been active periodically for
the past 9 million years. The area is filled with peaks, cones, and lava capped mesas. The mesas
developed as lava flowed into valleys and depressions, cooled off and formed a resistant top layer
over sedimentary rocks. As the surrounding rock eroded, the lava protected the underlying
stratigraphy from erosion. This caused todays topography, where that which was once the lowest
point, is now the highest. There is some disagreement over why the volcanic field is here, one
possible cause is that it is near the end of the Jemez Lineament, which has numerous volcanic
centers along its reach, possibly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

which formed a cinder cone around its vent, northeast of the main cone. This is the third youngest
eruption the the Raton Clayton volcanic field, erupting around 36,000 4,000 years ago.
Currently, the field is not active, but it is unknown if that is only temporary. If the Capulin volcano

Alice Munro Character Analysis
Expectations placed on us Good or Bad? Our identity makes us who we are. How do we find it,
and, can others affect what we believe?
The thing that most people desire is their own identity. How we act, what we believe in, what we
are. But, some people change that and put expectations on it. These are all parts of who we are,
maybe you laugh like your mother or talk like your father. People affect who we are and set
expectations for us. In this story, author Alice Munro, through her character, shows how others
place expectations on her as a girl and how they affect her individual identity.
One major thing that affects our personal identity is the people around us, and the people that have
the most effect on us is our family. The main character s mother and grandmother pushes her to
act like a girl Her mother pushes the ideals of girls upon her. She was plotting now to get me to
stay in the house more, although she knew I hated it (because she knew I hated it) and keep me
from working for my father. Her mother wants her to stay in the house to do work. At this point
the main character doesn t really realize that perhaps her mother is lonely and isn t just pushing
her to act like a girl . And then I can use her more in the house, I heard my mother say. Her
grandmother is another influence in her life that she doesn t welcome. Like many Grandmothers
she wants her to act like a lady. Girls don t slam doors like that. Girls keep their knees together

  • 4. Cuneiform Vs Hieroglyphics Cuneiform and hieroglyphics were both writing systems that emerged at the dawn of humanity, but their legacy and impact were vastly different. The two systems not only demonstrate the early concept of writing but show contrasting elements of civilization in globalism vs nationalism, internal vs external, connection vs isolation. The two systems certainly diverged from one another, but to understand this, the origins of the two writingsystems must be examined. Around the dawn of civilization, in the last half of the third millennium, abstract symbols (meaning letters, numbers, and other things that represent abstract thought) started to form from proto writing that had been present for millennia in the Nile valley before the first abstract... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But it is undeniable that hieroglyphics had more influence on history than cuneiform did, in spite of the fact that cuneiform was more advanced for its time. This is the first way that these systems contrast; sophistication. Cuneiform was a more advanced system than hieroglyphics simply because cuneiform was more abstract and it was far quicker to write Sumerian with it. Hieroglyphics was, for much of its existence, a logographic system, making it in some ways closer to drawing than to abstract writing such as cuneiform. However, in the Neolithic times, sophistication had an inverse relationship with influence, that is to say, that less advanced writing systems had more influence and clout with other cultures. This may have been because it is hard to teach an illiterate culture who may adopt a writing system, a complex, writing scheme, or a system that doesn t work in their language. Or, it may because the more advanced a writing system is, the fewer people in your culture understand how to use it. This can be seen with cuneiform and hieroglyphics in a very stark way. Not many cultures used cuneiform, and when they did it worked poorly with the language it was being used in, while hieroglyphs informed many other writing systems, such as Hebrew, Greek, and Phoenician; it cannot be understated the ... Edmund of King Lear as Nietzsche s Free Spirit In King Lear, Shakespeare creates a brilliant tragedy whose plot is driven primarily by its villains. Of these, Edmund stands alone as a man who makes his fortune, surrounded by those who seize fortune only when it is handed to them. Shakespeare s ability to create a vivid, living character in the space of a few lines of speech triumphs in Edmund, who embodies a totally different moral system than that of Shakespeare s era. Three centuries later, Friedrich Nietzsche s philosophy of the Free Spirit would respect these values. Like Edmund, Nietzsche s unorthodox views have been deemed villainous ever since the time they were written. The Free Spirit is defined not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Edmund, these characteristics are obvious he questions the world created by men, but at the same time reflects that he is bound to Nature. Nietzsche likewise saw the rigid values of Christianity as false ones, clumsily laid over man s true, changing nature. The hierarchy of the good, however, is not fixed and identical at all times. If someone prefers revenge to justice, he is moral by the standard of an earlier culture, yet by the standard of the present culture he is immoral. 1 When my dimensions are as well compact, My mind as generous, and my shape as true, As honest madam s issue? Here he also acknowledges his humanity, but distinguishes himself from others by a quality of fierceness. Again, Nietzsche s ideas shine through. In The Odyssey, an epic poem by Homer, Penelope shows us the value of loyalty because she is hopeful that her husband will come back, and she does not want to marry anyone who is not him. Penelopeis a good example of loyalty in The Odysseybecause she proves her loyalty several times. When Odysseusis gone suitors began to throw themselves at her, and they would do anything to get to marry her. Since she was a queen, Penelope would have been expected to marry after her spouce died but she stayed true to her husband, Odysseus, by coming up with excuses not to marry the suitors until she knew for sure that he was dead. Inside the work includes mixed media with taxidermy goat, rubber tire, and a tennis ball. The work was done by Robert Rauschenberg from Sweden. There is strong emphasis on the goat, making it the focal point of the mass. The installation of the tire is wrapped around the goat s torso, while the goat is mounted onto the center of the wood frame. The size of the work is monumental compared to other works of art. The subordination of the painted half of the work prevents the viewer from looking at the plain pieces of wood. The span of the mount stretches diagonally across the frame. The addition of red paint brings a sense of luminosity to the work. There are illuminated letters printed of the wood pieces that draws attention to the left half of the piece. The text says Rauschenberg created the work as a symbol of himself as a rebel and outcast. The goat relates to a religious perspective as goats used to be offered as a sacrifice by Christians to God. (Bernie DeGroat) Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief the someone or something is dangerous causing pain, or threats. It is not appropriate for middle schoolers to read classic horror stories like The Tell Tale Heart , because they can cause them anxiety and it can make them aggressive after watching scary movies. Horror movies can cause middle schoolers anxiety because horror movies have different components not appropriate for children. This fear and anxiety of horror movies can cause pain or threats. This means that even after the movie is done, middle schoolers can feel anxious and uneasy because they saw violence and other things in the movie that can happen in the real world. In the text The Tell Tale Heart the narrator states I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, thus riding myself of the eye forever . Introduction Whitetail deer have come to be known as a keystone species, species known for affecting other organisms in an ecosystem. Deer are known as a keystone species in forest habitats such as in the Eastern United States because they are capable of destroying potential forest habitat of other organisms (McShea and Rappole, 1992). For example, deer have a negative impact on forest ecosystems by trampling and over browsing over vegetation, without creating any habitat for other native species. Throughout the eastern United States, the abundance of white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) has increased dramatically over the last century (Taggart and Long, 2015). Population increases could be due to increased habitat fragmentation from land development, reduced predators and/or hunting pressure. Individual deer ranges varied during seasonal times, deer movements are usually greatest during the peak breeding months from late fall through winter (Williams et. al, 2012). Regardless of the cause, high deer densities can have significant effects on plant communities such as plant decay and/or even death. Deer consume a large amounts of plant biomass (leaves, buds, flowers and fruits) and directly reduce the growth, reproduction, and survival of herbaceous and woody plant species (Shen et. al, 2016). The impacts of white tailed deer on forests along the Eastern United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Your identity is who you are and the decisions you make. Without identity, you wouldn t be who you are today. Your identity can change in a matter of seconds, and there is no way to ensure one s outcome In my life, I have had many events that make up my identity. One of the biggest events that have affected my life is when I had my first seizure. I was around 5 years old. It was around 5 at night, and I was at my babysitter s house. That night when we were eating dinner, I know that I didn t like the type of pizza it was because it was supreme. Once I had finished my breadstick, I was going to grab another one. In an instant, my babysitter, Laurie, had slapped my hand. I didn t cry, but it did make me upset because she could have said no. After a couple of minutes, my vision got very blurry, and the only thing I could hear is a ringing noise. My body went numb, and all of a sudden everything went black. When I woke up I was on the floor with a throbbing headache. My babysitter had already called my mom, and she was already on her way to the house. My mom only worked a couple minutes away from her house so it didn t take very long for her to get there. When she came inside the house, she looked scared. She kept asking me what happened, but I had no idea. She then grabbed a majority of my stuff and took me to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The following paragraphs will show about the situations faced by the aboriginal people in the past and present day. I got the information about this from the class lecture notes and from watching the videos related to the indigenous population. It is quite surprising that the condition of aboriginals was really worst in Canada. The biggest problem is that the people are suffering from the culture loss. The indigenous persons have to opt with the English language that is mandatory for them to become a citizen of Canada and they do not get attached to their mother tongue. A huge change to occur in their life, as they cannot perform their original lifestyle in a new country. The culture loss was also seen among the students that were sent to the Residential Schools because they were taken away from the parents and taught another language due to which they lost their traditional language to communicate with their parents. This seems to follow the adage that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, yet for Machiavelli he seems more concerned with actually emulating history in order to repeat success than looking out for particular things to avoid. For this reason, he pulls examples from an eclectic range of histories in order to demonstrate how his principles in both The Princeand the Discourses on Livy, when followed, will lead to a successful state. Analysis Of The Bicycle Thieves Two scenes from the Bicycle Thieves that although they have nothing to do with the plot they are essential for the film are: the scene where many bicycles and parts of them are being sold in a piazza, this is an important scene because it adds to the film a feeling of optimism that ends up turning into hopelessness. The other scene is the one where the thief has an epileptic fit adding to the film a feeling of despair. These two scenes also contributes to the overall meaning of the plot by showing us that the harder you try to accomplish what you want in life the more obstacles you will have and the more hopelessness you will fell. • 40. Essay On The Banking Concept Of Education When it comes to the topic of education, most of us will readily agree that as students, we need to be dedicated learners. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of how we should be educated. Some are convinced that we need to stick with what is currently in place. From this perspective, it is completely unnecessary to do something different if the method being used works. However, others maintain that we need to change. According to this view, people need to move away from what we are comfortable and familiar with in order to be better students. In sum, then, the issue is whether we should keep how our education works the same or not. My own view is that we need to change the system of education. Though I concede that sometimes it makes sense to keep what is not broken, I still maintain that for a better learning experience, we must change. That being said, this economic recession hasn t had much of an impact until recently. America s housing boom had a tremendous influence on the economy for its low prices and flow of new home construction. The new construction market in the mid 2000 s was flourishing. People saw building a home as an opportunity for a solid investment because prices and rates were so low that certain homes could depreciate extremely slowly. However, there would be a negative effect from all this low cost new construction and few were aware of just how devastating it would be to the new construction market. In 2005, the market was flooded with a vast array of homes that were all selling at a low price, and this allowed people to buy and sell homes with minimal effort. Banks were being reckless with their lending, not giving enough attention to who they were giving mortgages to, as virtually anybody with a decent credit score could go to a bank and get a mortgage, sometimes without even going to see if the land and ability for development was there. This created a housing bubble in 2006, and would inevitably come back to hurt a wide range of industries, but few were as damaged as the new construction industry.
