Air Pollution Of The Airline Industry And Its Aircraft
Introduction When people think of noise control they normally think of sound being able to
controlled. However, that not the case in airline industry. What noise controlled does to the airline
industry is to seek a safe working environment that would not disturbed the environment and public
health. It started in 1972 when congress passes the Noise Control Act to reduce noise pollution being
produce by aircraft. Although there are other factors that is part of the noise pollution like automobile
and construction site, but for this essay it will focus on the air pollution of the airline industry and its
aircraft. With that being said, according to the Clean Air Act Title IV Noise Pollution provided by the

Compare And Contrast To A Locomotive In Winter
To begin with, To a Locomotive in Winter , written by Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson s I like to
see it lap the Miles are fairly different poems. In To a Locomotive in Winter , the author writes about a
locomotive and represents it in rather a positive way, using strong and vivid figurative language.
While reading the poem, it is apparent that, in general, the speaker while talking about a locomotive
implies American technological progress and, obviously, supports it. That is shown through the
establishment of a link between science and poetry. Even though I like to see it lap the Miles written
by Emily Dickinson is also about a locomotive and within the poem, poetry and science are
connected, still, the author s approach differs from Whitman s manner. Evidently, it is possible to
notice some negative implications. Specifically, the speaker may be afraid of the ongoing
technological progress in America and does not support its connotations. During the 1870s, America
underwent an impressive technological progress and in To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author compares it to a horse and other animals but does not directly name the train and by means
of figurative language and poetic devices creates a distinct image for the reader and enables to
experience the feelings of the narrator. Dickinson s manner slightly differ from the manner of
Whitman even though their themes are corresponding. In particular, while Whitman observes a train
with admiration and respect to its strength and force, it is possible to notice that Dickinson views a
locomotive as a ravenously hungry creature. The train perpetually consumes during the traveling.
Furthermore, it does not require human help to feed itself and that becomes obvious in the third line,
And stop to feed itself at tanks (Dickinson). Probably, Dickinson symbolically implies the
technological progress in America which have already begun gather

A Jingle Jazz Concert
A Jingle Jazz Christmas was one of the best Christmas concerts that I attended in years! The concert
was performed with great enthusiasm and with great excellence. While attending A Jingle Jazz
Christmas, I had the opportunity to watch several classmates and friends perform Christmas carols.
Before attending the concert, I was drained from studying and having an excessive amount of
homework to complete with only a little time to do so; however, I did not leave the Jingle Jazz

Crocodiles And Alligators Similarities
Crocodiles and Alligators are often confused with because of the physical similarities. When an
average person encounters a crocodile or alligator, it is most probable that they guess which animal it
is and get it wrong. However, the only thing in common is the body structure. Not all of the
similarities have to do with the similar physical shape of the crocodiles and alligator s. In fact, the
similarities go beyond. On the other hand, the differences deal with the most detailed dissimilarities
between the crocodiles and alligators body.
One of many similarities crocodiles and alligators have is that these animals are reptiles. Crocodiles
and alligators belong to the same subfamily so it is likely for them to have the same physical shape. ...

For example, there is a big difference when it comes to a crocodiles and alligators snout. Alligators
have a U shaped snout with a wider head and sharp teeth that hide when the mouth is closed. In
contrast to alligators, a crocodile have a V shaped snout with a thinner head and have a toothy grin
when the mouth is closed. Additionally the alligators upper jaw is more located more forwards than
the crocodiles, this also affects the how the teeth are structured. Although both of these animals teeth
are strong, the crocodiles have a more defined strength because it can destroy a turtles shell faster than
an alligator. Furthermore, crocodiles have lingual glands that make salt water tolerable. Another major
difference is the capacity of length between the two reptiles. Crocodiles tend to grow 5. 8 meters
compared to an 4.3 alligator. Moreover, female crocodiles lay their eggs in mud or sand whereas the
female alligators lay eggs on mounds near water. Another difference between alligators and crocodiles
are the amount of time it takes to take care of the newborns. Alligators usually stay a few months or 1
year until the babies are strong enough to fend for themselves unlike crocodiles that stay with the

People Thank Those In Uniform In The Great Gatsby
Some ask, Why do people thank those in uniform? or, Why do people in uniform hurt others when
they are there to help them? Honestly, there is not a real good answer for that. We thank those in
uniform because they put their life on the line each and everyday to keep others safe. As a member of
the fire department, I hear my share of trash talk against the volunteer fire dept. They put their life on
the line just as the regular career Firefighters, Police, EMS, and Military. In Of Plymouth Plantation,
Myles Standish led military to be overtly hostile and combative against natives, but they were with

Jack Kirby Research Paper
Let s make comic books great again! This statement does not necessarily insinuate that comic books
are not great but rather acknowledges its current depreciated state. Comic books came into prevalence
in the late 1930s, with Superman paving a way to an era of superheroes and comics, known as the
Golden Age of Comic Books. However, notable illustrators such as Jack Kirby, revitalized the comic
book phenomenon carrying it into the 1950s 1970s, by creating Fantastic 4 and other works of fiction.
In Comic Book Apocalypse: The Graphic World of Jack Kirby, individuals are exposed to the world of

For instance, the influence of comic books is seen widely across our culture with superheroes branded
and intertwined within our entertainment, clothing and politics. Culturally, comic books have created a
society in which individuals can escape their troubles and immerse themselves in the world of science
fiction and superheroes. These comic books and superheroes exemplify characteristics of bravery,
strength and honesty qualities that have a positive impact on our nation s youth. In correlation, comic
books have political consequences as this medium was often used as tools to instill patriotism and
propaganda. For example, in Jack Kirby s illustrations, the viewer often sees American soldiers
defeating and fighting Nazis or take Captain America for an example. Captain America epitomizes the
perception Americans have on our nation strong, unbeatable and lawful. In addition to infusing a sense
of patriotism, comics often depict political events or people. Additionally, these superheroes have had
a super impact on American Culture. Over the decades since their creation, billions of dollars have
been spent and gained through comic books, movies and television shows having several positive
economic effects. Lastly, comic books have created an art in which comics serve as a vehicle for a
narrative, grabbing the reader s attention with vivid illustrations and rich story plot. With comic books
embracing numerous implications on our society, people should care as this medium contains rich

Multicultural Education Issues

Multicultural Education Issues
Multicultural Education Issues The purpose of this study is to discuss teachers resistance to
multicultural education and how it affecting the minority students and ELL learners. These negative
attitudes that some teachers care can be considered a reason why there is such an increase of high
school dropouts. There are so many teachers who often have a fear of teaching or building positive
relationships with minority or under privilege students. In this American society we have witness
stereotypes being used to label students in the classroom by teachers who just have some underlying
issues that need to be addressed. Teachers resistance and negative attitude ... Show more content on

Teachers have to examine their prior experiences and confront fears that influenced their value system
( Vang, 2005). In the article, An Ecological Perspective on Preparing Teachers for Multicultural
Classrooms (Johnson, 2003), it is stated that discussions of multicultural education generally center on
the importance of broadening students understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures. The authors
here want to make sure that the teachers and trying to deal with the curriculum issues and that the
material being used is suitable for all students regardless of their background or age. The role of the
teacher is very critical to the students getting an understanding. Teachers really do not know how
influence they have in their students. Maybe if the teachers begin to start embracing all students; we
will see more effective teaching in the multicultural classroom. There is a lot of inequality amongst
students of lower socioeconomic class. There is a drop out crisis among youths at the bottom of the
socioeconomic scale, regardless of race. This is because some students are dropping out to help
support themselves and their families. Jay Greene of the Manhattan Institute and Christopher
Swanson, of the National Governors Association states, We know that about a third of our students are
not graduating from high school.... About three fourths of white students graduate from high

The author utilized setting expertly as he casually introduces the fact that the apartment is on the
eleventh floor of a New York apartment building during the first few paragraphs of the story. The
scene is further set when the contrast between the warmth in the apartment and the coldness of the
ledge is portrayed when his wife leaves for the movies. An additional contrast in setting is created as
he will be working, and later be stuck on the cold ledge, fighting for his life, while his wife is relaxing
in the comfort of the theatre. The author utilizes a narrator with an omniscient point of view. This
allows the reader to get an insight into the thoughts and feelings of Tom. The use of this type of
narrator also allows the author to control what and how much is revealed to the reader in building
suspense. The point of view used influences the effectiveness of suspense as the narrator reveals the
various thoughts and feelings of Tom at the correct point in the development of the story to keep the
reader absorbed by the developments. The narrator s perspective affects your understanding of the
story. The tone in this story is seemingly neutral and factual, but on closer assessment it becomes clear

way the narrator is telling the story results in a lot of suspense. Will Tom go out on the ledge? Will he

Keystone Pipeline Essay
There has been much controversy over whether or not to build the Keystone XL pipeline that would
connect Canadian Alberta oil fields to refineries in Texas. The proposed pipeline, which would be built
by TransCanada, would connect two existing pipes, consisting total of around 1,700 miles of pipeline.
The two sides of this argument can be roughly boiled down to two words: environment and economy.
In such turbulent times can Americans afford to pass up a so called shovel ready project that would
create jobs and cut dependence on foreign oil from unfriendly places, or, as some would claim, is the
risk of environmental mayhem too great? There is much dispute between both sides on the actual facts
of the project, and a surprising amount of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

useless. We should instead focus on the number that recurrences, the most which lies at around 20,000
jobs, but where did that number come from? TransCanada itself issued a statement that said it is
poised to put 13,000 Americans to work to construct the pipeline pipefitters, welders, mechanics,
electricians, heavy equipment operators, among other jobs in addition to 7,000 manufacturing jobs
that would be created across the U.S. TransCanada also cites another figure 118,000 spin off jobs that
Keystone XL would create through increased business in local restaurants, hotels and suppliers that
comes from a study commissioned by the corporation. The study even suggested that under normal oil
price assumptions, the number of permanent jobs would top 250,000. There should be an amount of

Fair Tax Reform
The push for a tax reform continues to be a popular topic. Many people see the current structure as
inequitable and complex. The new proposed tax structure that has been gaining attention is called the
Fair Tax Act. It would institute a national sales tax at a rate of 23% if it were enacted. The idea is to
make the tax structure more simplistic and spread out the tax burden. Another interesting proposed
change relates to tax brackets. These brackets would no longer be needed to decide rates on taxable
income. Investments will also be much different and potentially have a greater economic impact
because the tax on capital gains and property will no longer be in existence. These are just a few of the
changes that could occur with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People would be getting taxed on what they spend since it is a sales tax, similar to what is seen now. It
would be much higher, but people would also be receiving a much higher paycheck. This would help
to prevent double taxation that periodically occurs. Spending habits will become important to watch
and see if people will want to spend less to prevent paying taxes. However, less spending may have a
questionable impact on the economy and for businesses. This could also affect the amount of funding
government programs would receive in the new form of taxation proposed in the Fair Tax Act rather
than having federal taxes withheld, such as FICA taxes. Investments will also be treated differently.
The current tax structure has a tax on the gain of long term assets at a preferential rate. This reduces
the actual gain made on investments. However, the Fair Tax Act would no longer have a tax on capital
gains. There would be fewer restrictions and have the ability move them more freely. This would be a
much different structure than the current structure and provide more of an economic impact.
The Fair Tax Act would bring about many changes to the tax system. It would be a large change to the
tax process and provide different attributes for the economy. Some of these key changes would bring
about new behaviors and affect how society functions as a

Fiction, Between Inner Life and Collective Memory. A Methodological Reflection. François Xavier
Lavenne, Virginie Renard, François Tollet1 Introduction In the writing of their fictional works,
novelists often have to reflect on the functioning of memory, for memory lies at the heart both of inner
life and of human experience in general. It is indeed in the works of writers such as Marcel Proust or
Jorge Luis Borges that the best exemplifications of the subjective experience of memory are to be
found. However, from a strictly mnemonic point of view, literature provides more than a means of
reflecting on memory: it is also the site of the rebirth and construction of individual and collective
memories, which can then serve as a foundation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Memories were first attributed directly to a collective entity by Maurice Halbwachs in his epoch
making La Mémoire Collective (The Collective Memory).5 This sociologist claims that all memory
depends, on the one hand, of the group in which one lives and, on the other, to the status one holds in
that group. To remember, one therefore needs to situate oneself within a current of collective thought.6
As a result, Halbwachs concludes that there are no purely individual memories, i.e. memories that
would belong only to the individual, and of which the individual would be the unique source.7 We are
therefore not the authentic subjects of attribution of our memories. Several writers have attempted to
reconcile these conflicting on individual memory and collective memory. For example, Paul Ricoeur
argues that memory does belong to the realm of interiority, for we see ourselves as the true possessors
of our own memories.8 However, memory also involves the other and fully bears its mark.9 From its
declarative phase, memory enters the public sphere because a testimony is always presented to, and
received by, an other. Moreover, Ricoeur, following in the footsteps of Halbwach, asserts that peers
can assist an individual in the work of remembering.10 He therefore draws the conclusion that
memory processes involve both the individual and the group. Ricoeur thus differentiates among three
different poles of attribution of memory: there exists, between

property in question. Once more, by fencing in the property, and the fact that Danny knew what she

fifteen years of usage, there were no issues with Danny, and he never complained that her actions were
wrong. Only after fifteen years and a survey, did the ownership questions come up. Lastly, Lisa
believed that the property was hers and never asked or obtained permission before erecting the fence.
Since all the elements coexist, Lisa has a legal right to claim adverse possession to the property.
Furthermore, the state has a statutory period for adverse possession of ten years. What this means is
that Lisa must have occupied the property for the full statutory period, and this action must have
coexisted with the other elements of adverse possession before the statute of limitations runs out. It

Paracas Candelabra Research Paper
Around 200 BC, according to carbon dated pottery found on the Paracas Peninsula at Pisco Bay in
Peru, a mysterious image, called the Paracas Candelabra or Candelabra of the Andes, was made in the
sand surrounded by large stones. It is 600 feet tall, 2 feet deep and resembles the image of candelabra.
The symbol can be seen as far as 12 miles out to sea. There are many rumors as to what this symbol
represented whether it be religious, a sailing navigation tool, a huge seismograph or even that it could
be referencing a certain hallucinogenic plant. The first suggestion of what the Paracas Candelabra
could be was related to religious ideas. In South America, a god named Viracocha, who was the
creator god in Incan mythology and who was highly worshipped. The people who worshipped the god
believe the image to be that of the lightening rod or staff carried by Viracocha. The also believed that
Viracocha would help people during times of trouble and the people of Paracas created the image to
help him find his way to them. Another religious idea came about by the Conquistadors who believed
that the image was actually representing the Holy Trinity. They took this symbol to be a sign that they

Rose for Emily, the early twentieth century American South was undergoing major changes. And for
some, the power of their negative interpretation of change prevailed against the reality of their own
truth. In this essay, Faulkner s utilization of literary elements will be broken down in hopes of the
reader reaching a better understanding of how the theme is represented in his narrative; that when
eluding the involuntary changes in life, can cause harmful and even fatal consequences. Emily
Grierson in her entirety represents the theme with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the narrative, the distinguished theme that eluding involuntary changes in life can cause
harmful and even fatal consequences is repeatedly expressed through previously mentioned character,
plot, and setting symbols. Such as, Emily being introduced at her funeral as a fallen monument due to
her timeless concrete foundation that never changes until her death. Next, Emily s lack of progression
within herself as well as her neglected physical appearance is expressed through the personification of
her stubborn, house decaying into an out of date eyesore. This all furthering to the Death of Miss
Emily s beloved Homer Barron. Poisoned, only to have his corpse trapped in a room set up in a way
that his bride can forever stay in that timeless moment; without worry of how to adapt to any of life s
involuntary changes that that she deeply resists. Faulkner gives the reader insight into the dangers of
such extreme resistance leaving by them wondering why Miss Emily went as far as killing Homer.
Was he trying to leave her like the majority of important men in her life have? Did she panic because
her one last shot at true love was slipping through the cracks? Was it even true love? Or was it her
resistance to change; was it that with the evolving world involuntarily subjecting her, she needed one

Anthropology and Gender Essay
Though women have played an integral part in the history of the discipline of anthropology, it was not
until the early 1970 s that the field of anthropology and gender, or feminist anthropology emerged.
Sex and gender roles have always been a vital part of any ethnographic study, but the contributors of
this theory began to address the androcentric nature of anthropology itself. The substantial gap in
information concerning the study of women was perceived as a male bias, a prejudice made more
apparent because what little women centered fieldwork was done received insufficient attention from
the academic community. While anthropology was considered one of the more egalitarian fields of
study, it was dominated by white, Western males who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of Slocum s contemporaries, Eleanor Leacock (1922 1987) chose to differently analyze gender
research, focusing on distinctions in power as it relates to society, the economy, and politics (2011:
397). She concentrated on North American natives and aboriginal Australians and their changing
gender roles as the result of Western influence. Another feminist trend gave emphasis to gender
identities, analyzing the ways in which race, class and gender converge. David Valentine, born in
1966, illustrates such an emphasis in his work which concerns the cross cultural variations on the
westernized concepts of gender identity and sexuality, by which we categorize sexual desire
(2011:398). As evidenced by the variety of emphases within the theory, feminist anthropologists were
fully committed to assessing all previously ignored facets of the subjugated female within numerous
cultures worldwide.
Several decades ago the idea of women as subordinate was considered to be a universality by the
aforementioned white, Western male anthropologists who lead the field. Despite an anthropologist s
endeavor to be unbiased, the fact is these traditional anthropologists came from a culture where many
aspects of human life were male dominant. Though many studied

The Constitution Of The American South After The Civil War
Amendments are put in place to make changes to the U.S. Constitution to adapt a regulation or expand
on the rights of individuals and groups of people. Two amendments that play a significant role in the
United States Constitution to this very day are the 13th and 14th amendments. These amendments are
known as the reconstruction amendments because the documents were important in implementing the
Reconstruction of the American South after the Civil War. Their advocates saw them as transforming
the United States from a country that was half slave and half free to one in which the constitution
guaranteed blessings of liberty which extended to the entire populace, including the former slaves and
their descendants. The Thirteenth Amendment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A clause is a sentence in any part of our constitution. Firstly, is the citizenship Clause which gives
individual born in the United States, but especially at that time, African Americans the right to
citizenship. Secondly, the due process clause which protects the 1st amendment rights of the people
and prevents those rights from being taken away by any government without due process. Due process
is a trial by jury for all people accused of wrongdoing. Lastly, equal protection clause is the part of the
fourteenth amendment which states that there may be no discrimination against people by the law. By
directly mentioning the role of the states, the 14th Amendment greatly expanded the protection of civil
rights to all Americans.
Another essential point, was President Abraham Lincoln s position on slavery, which is one of the
central issues in American history. Lincoln often expressed disapproval towards slavery. When the
American Civil War began in 1861, President Abraham Lincoln carefully outlined the conflict of the
abolition of slavery. On September 22, soon after the Union victory at the Battle of Antietam in
Maryland, Lincoln issued an introductory Emancipation Proclamation, declaring that as of January 1,
1863, all slaves shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free. While the Emancipation Proclamation
did not free a single slave it was an important turning point in the war, transforming the fight

Women Of An Amorous Woman
In his The Life of An Amorous Woman, Ihara Saikaku traces the demise of a woman whose thoughts
and actions were controlled by insatiable lust and sexual desire. She begins as a wife and then
progresses to a court lady in waiting, a concubine to a feudal lord, courtesan, priest s mistress, brothel
prostitute, and, finally a streetwalker. Though courtesans did not play a major role in ancient Japan, by
the seventeenth century, the courtesan class was sanctioned by the government to the extent that
official decrees created a separate district to enclose them and put up physical boundaries that
mirrored the division between them and traditional prostitutes. According to Chesemore in her essay,
Women of the Floating World, as in all areas of Japanese life, attention was paid to the distinctions in
the rank of the various inhabitants of this world, and clearly the courtesan reigned supreme
(Chesemore, 1990). Saikaku writes that, because of her beauty and talent, she had her choice of men,
and in the streets she walks with her head held high and does not step aside for anyone. Far from the
traditional Confucian gender roles, the amorous woman can afford to be haughty, as she was showered
with gifts and other luxuries. In Japanese society, at the time when these works were created, the
feminine sexuality of a wife and of a courtesan were seen as two dichotomous roles that could not
possibly be carried out by a single woman, at least in an ideal world. While it is true many

Re-Priming Shot-Shell Primers
This week s chapter six over Reloading the shot shells seem to me almost the same as reloading a
regular rifle cartridge. There just more steps in the process eight totaling. Starting with step one being
de priming and resizing. Which is almost the same in reloading brass. Re shaping the shell back to the
proper dimensions and ejecting the once fired primer out of the shell. Be aware you should never de
prime live primers from hulls! when de priming the process could cause live primers to detonate. Step
two re priming the shell. With modern shot shell primers have been standardized to the No. 209 size,
but, be aware, just because they re there the same size, it doesn t mean they re identical in other
capacities. Primers are built with various levels of energy, and each load calls for specific primers. If
the primer is not fully seated and sticks out you should attempt to re prime again. Do not keep moving
forward in the loading process with a primer that is not fully seated. This step might also be one
reason shotgun re loaders prefer to use progressive press other that the amount of shells that can be
reloaded. In a progressive if the primer protrudes it will almost likely catch as the turret attempts to
rotate and prevent the shell from accessing the next station. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With step four you start adding other steps that are not like reloading brass. Inserting a wad which
helps seals the gases to provide the pressure to push the charge out. Step five is dropping the shot
charge in the shell. It is important to keep an eye on the volume a projectile occupies inside the barrel
and not wholly fixate upon the projectile s weight. The principle behind stacking buckshot pellets is
that the greater the angle of surface contact between two pellets, the greater the tendency those pellets

Statement of Purpose: The purpose of this analysis is to determine if Reynolds Metals ( Reynolds )
should accept Nestlé s offer of $61 million for its holdings of Eskimo Pie. The crux of the issue is
whether or not the projected income from a proposed Initial Public Offering ( IPO ) by Wheat First
Securities ( Wheat First ) is reasonable and will actually result in proceeds between $61 and $68
million to Reynolds, the Reynolds family and the Reynolds foundation, as projected. To get at this
question, this paper will seek to value Eskimo Pie as a stand alone company, if the IPO option is
selected.
Discount Rate: The first task is to estimate the discount rate, or the rate that investors will require on
this type of investment. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As previously mentioned, net sales will be estimated beginning with the $61 million in net sales
projected for 1991, then relying on Goldman Sach s projected growth rate for 1992 and 1993, and
using a 5% growth rate from that point forward. Net income is estimated for 1992 and 1993 using
Goldman Sach s estimate of the margin.
Free cash flow is then estimated from the net income by subtracting capital expenditures, which are
estimated to be less than $1 million for 1992. Additionally, there are several additional expenses for
1991 that I believe are ignored by Goldman Sach s estimate. The first is the potential clean up costs
from the spill in the New Jersey plant, estimated at $300,000. However, weighing other possible
outcomes, I estimate the cost to be $374,000, occurring by the end of 1991.
Further, even in the pre Sarbanes Oxley era, the cost of an IPO, and the subsequent filing documents
required by the SEC, is significant. I estimate the cost of the IPO to be $1 million in 1992, and
$500,000 each year after for the filing requirements (or the cost of being public). These amounts are
subtracted from the free cash flows in the appropriate years.
Thus, I estimate the value of Eskimo Pie, as a stand alone company, to be $31,770,219. This is
significantly lower than the $61,412,000 or $68,044,000 that Wheat First predicts the IPO will
generate.

Democracy Is Better Than A Democracy
Being part of a democracy means that the majority will prevail over the minority with no written
constitution or rules to keep the minority from being over powered. Where as a republic has a written
constitution for rules that are used to keep the majority from overpowering the minority. Just defining
these two words one can say being apart of a republic seems more fair than a democracy, since there
are rules that everyone must follow to keep everything fair and just. In this day in age it just seems
that the rules are pushed aside and either party that is in charge can just do as they please. If our way
of life were actually followed by the constitution I am all for being a republic. But we all know that it
isn t something that is followed all the time no matter what. So let s find out which one is better than
the two a democracy or a republic. So we know from above that a democracy is run by the majority,
that means if the majority likes it then it will be followed by all. If the majority does not agree with it
then it will be taken away just as easily as it was given. In a democracy all people are allowed to take
a vote on laws that will govern them. It is like asking your family if they want fish or chicken for
dinner and of course the majority vote wins and that is what everyone will eat for dinner. Anyone that
is a minority does not have the power to practice their religion of choice, dress, way of living or many
other things that make a person who they are if the

Face Uniform Gyrus Face Recognition Study
A group of scientists at the Stanford University School of Medicine in the United States discovered
that the region of the brain responsible for face recognition grows in children and adults. The
discovery surprised scientists because it was widely believed that brain development didn t involve
tissue growth in adulthood, but rather neuroplasticity. Until now, it was thought that brain
development occurred exclusively through a process called synaptic pruning a mechanism of
destruction of the synapses (connections between the neurons) that are rarely used, opening the way
for the development of stronger and more effective synapses.
A growing fusiform gyrus
This is the first time that research has found evidence that tissue in this region of the brain, called
fusiform gyrus, increases in size from childhood to adulthood. Previous research suggested that most
changes in brain tissue occurred during childhood (0 2 years) and involved either synaptic pruning or
tissue shrinkage. To make the discovery, which will force science to rethink the anatomical
development of the brain over the years, researchers recruited 22 children (aged 5 12) and 25 adults.
They were subjected to visual recognition tests of faces and places and functional magnetic resonance
and quantitative magnetic resonance imaging tests.

No Match For The Power Of Lobbying
Seattleites would soon find that public opinion was no match for the power of lobbying: So, an unholy
alliance downtown business groups, large companies like Boeing (whose interest in Seattle
transportation begins and ends with getting commuters through it quickly), the antediluvian WSDOT,
craven Seattle City Council members, craven state legislators like Ed Murray (who sponsored the
tunnel bill and is now mayor), and head cheerleader Gregoire bullied the tunnel back onto the agenda,
and Seattle voters, sick to f ing death of arguing about it, finally voted in 2011 to allow it to go

imminently, its replacement was finally approved; the Viaduct, however, was still standing.
The construction of the tunnel started with both banging and whimpering. At the christening ceremony
of Bertha, the name of the machine designed to bore through the Seattle underground, WSDOT
communications head KaDeena Yerkan pleasantly told reporters We know exactly the path of Bertha
and what she ll encounter along the way, (Esser 1). At that time in July of 2013, the tunnel project was
expected to be completed within fourteen months. Immediately after Bertha began chugging its way
through the Seattle dirt, it ran into twin issues. First, a mechanical issue, namely a clog in the
conveyor screw; that was quickly fixed. However, a struggle for jobs between the longshoremen
unions and the building trade unions led to the longshoremen picketing the tunnel project and halting
work until late September. Washington Governor Jay Inslee, by this point the third governor since the
2001 earthquake that cracked the Viaduct, remarked, I have been increasingly frustrated by this
situation, and I know that Washingtonians feel this same frustration to the nth degree, he said Tuesday.

Screwtape Writes To Wormword Summary
Chapter I 7/1/15 Screwtape writes to Wormword and the first thing that stood out to me was the chain
of reasoning. I had to go back and read this sentence plenty of times to begin to understand what he
meant. We as Christians today deal with this reasoning as something that we have done wrong. The
more we think we do wrong, the chain of effects and consequences get bigger. I believe this statement
is a preface to the question Why do bad things happen to good people? For example if a person stole a
candy bar from a gas station, they might think they got away with it, and no one caught them. If
Karma truly existed, something might get stolen from that person. That person would get mad, and a

According to Screwtape that question has been answered by the High Command. He says that for the
moment their policy is to conceal themselves from their patients. Screwtape introduces a dilemma.
When humans disbelieve in our existence we lose all the pleasing results of direct terrorism and we
make no magicians. On the other hand, when they believe in us, we cannot make them materialists
and sceptics. Obliviously this situation has become a big problem for demons like Screwtape. In a
human doesn t believe that a demon is causing them pain and suffering, then the demon doesn t take
as much pleasure for doing something. If I do something good I know that I would like to be rewarded
or acknowledged for something even if that is not having the Servants heart that God wants us to have.
On the flipside if a person knew there was a demon doing all of these terrible and unthinkable things
to them, they would know that all bad things would come from demons. It is like a surprise birthday
party. If you know that your good group of friends is throwing you a surprise party, you won t enjoy it
as much if you had no idea about it. What I want to know is why Wormword would want to reveal
himself to his patient? I really cant figure out any positives about it besides, the person knowing who

Tomato ( Solanum Lycopersicum )
[1] Background According to Kimura and Sinha (2008), tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is one of the
most important vegetable plants around the world, as it s produced in disparate areas like south
western America and Africa. It is also considered the second most abundant horticultural product after
the potato. Perveen et al. (2015), stated that, currently, there are thirteen recognized wild tomato
species which allows a great diversity in the phenotypes. The tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is an
important source for disparate essential compounds such as folic acid, carotenoids, and potassium.
Due to its widely use; not only as a food but also as a perfect material which can be used in research to
treat serious and devastating diseases as certain types of cancers (melanoma skin cancer and breast
cancer), cardiovascular diseases and photo aging (Liu et el., 2012). The use of it in such important
researches returns to its anti oxidant activity which arises from the carotenoids pigments it contains
like alpha carotene, beta carotene, and lycopene (Dorais et el., 2008). Tomato contains a lot of
compounds which have a high benefits for health, and also for its wonderful flavor which is used in
our daily food as a flavor during cooking. The question here is what is the compound which plays an

Before attending the concert, I was drained from studying and having an excessive amount of homework to complete with only a little time to do so; however, I did not leave the Jingle Jazz Christmas feeling the same. The proposed pipeline, which would be built by TransCanada, would connect two existing pipes, consisting total of around 1,700 miles of pipeline. The two sides of this argument can be roughly boiled down to two words: environment and economy. François Xavier Lavenne, Virginie Renard, François Tollet1 Introduction In the writing of their fictional works, novelists often have to reflect on the functioning of memory, for memory lies at the heart both of inner life and of human experience in general. It is indeed in the works of writers such as Marcel Proust or Jorge Luis Borges that the best exemplifications of the subjective experience of memory are to be found. However, from a strictly mnemonic point of view, literature provides more than a means of reflecting on memory: it is also the site of the rebirth and construction of individual and collective memories, which can then serve as a foundation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Memories were first attributed directly to a collective entity by Maurice Halbwachs in his epoch making La Mémoire Collective (The Collective Memory).5 This sociologist claims that all memory depends, on the one hand, of the group in which one lives and, on the other, to the status one holds in that group. To remember, one therefore needs to situate oneself within a current of collective thought.6 As a result, Halbwachs concludes that there are no purely individual memories, i.e. memories that would belong only to the individual, and of which the individual would be the unique source.7 We are therefore not the authentic subjects of attribution of our memories. Several writers have attempted to reconcile these conflicting on individual memory and collective memory. For example, Paul Ricoeur argues that memory does belong to the realm of interiority, for we see ourselves as the true possessors of our own memories.8 However, memory also involves the other and fully bears its mark.9 From its declarative phase, memory enters the public sphere because a testimony is always presented to, and received by, an other. Moreover, Ricoeur, following in the footsteps of Halbwach, asserts that peers can assist an individual in the work of remembering.10 He therefore draws the conclusion that memory processes involve both the individual and the group. Ricoeur thus differentiates among three different poles of attribution of memory: there exists, between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though courtesans did not play a major role in ancient Japan, by the seventeenth century, the courtesan class was sanctioned by the government to the extent that official decrees created a separate district to enclose them and put up physical boundaries that mirrored the division between them and traditional prostitutes. The crux of the issue is whether or not the projected income from a proposed Initial Public Offering ( IPO ) by Wheat First Securities ( Wheat First ) is reasonable and will actually result in proceeds between $61 and $68 million to Reynolds, the Reynolds family and the Reynolds foundation, as projected. To get at this question, this paper will seek to value Eskimo Pie as a stand alone company, if the IPO option is selected. Discount Rate: The first task is to estimate the discount rate, or the rate that investors will require on this type of investment. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As previously mentioned, net sales will be estimated beginning with the $61 million in net sales projected for 1991, then relying on Goldman Sach s projected growth rate for 1992 and 1993, and using a 5% growth rate from that point forward. Net income is estimated for 1992 and 1993 using Goldman Sach s estimate of the margin. Free cash flow is then estimated from the net income by subtracting capital expenditures, which are estimated to be less than $1 million for 1992. Additionally, there are several additional expenses for 1991 that I believe are ignored by Goldman Sach s estimate. The first is the potential clean up costs from the spill in the New Jersey plant, estimated at $300,000. However, weighing other possible outcomes, I estimate the cost to be $374,000, occurring by the end of 1991. Further, even in the pre Sarbanes Oxley era, the cost of an IPO, and the subsequent filing documents required by the SEC, is significant. I estimate the cost of the IPO to be $1 million in 1992, and $500,000 each year after for the filing requirements (or the cost of being public). These amounts are subtracted from the free cash flows in the appropriate years. Thus, I estimate the value of Eskimo Pie, as a stand alone company, to be $31,770,219. This is significantly lower than the $61,412,000 or $68,044,000 that Wheat First predicts the IPO will generate. Further Analysis: This of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Democracy Is Better Than A Democracy Being part of a democracy means that the majority will prevail over the minority with no written constitution or rules to keep the minority from being over powered. Where as a republic has a written constitution for rules that are used to keep the majority from overpowering the minority. Just defining these two words one can say being apart of a republic seems more fair than a democracy, since there are rules that everyone must follow to keep everything fair and just. In this day in age it just seems that the rules are pushed aside and either party that is in charge can just do as they please. If our way of life were actually followed by the constitution I am all for being a republic. But we all know that it isn t something that is followed all the time no matter what. So let s find out which one is better than the two a democracy or a republic. So we know from above that a democracy is run by the majority, that means if the majority likes it then it will be followed by all. If the majority does not agree with it then it will be taken away just as easily as it was given. In a democracy all people are allowed to take a vote on laws that will govern them. It is like asking your family if they want fish or chicken for dinner and of course the majority vote wins and that is what everyone will eat for dinner. Anyone that is a minority does not have the power to practice their religion of choice, dress, way of living or many other things that make a person who they are if the ... Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IEP) Students with intellectual disabilities present a distinctive educational challenge and need assistance achieving their academic needs (Luckasson Schalock, 2013). To support students to meet their academic needs, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires each student with an intellectual disability to have an individualized education program (Gartin Murdick, 2005). During this development, the individualized education program (IEP) team must consider assistive technology (AT) during the drafting of each student s IEP. • 29. Face Uniform Gyrus Face Recognition Study A group of scientists at the Stanford University School of Medicine in the United States discovered that the region of the brain responsible for face recognition grows in children and adults. The discovery surprised scientists because it was widely believed that brain development didn t involve tissue growth in adulthood, but rather neuroplasticity. Until now, it was thought that brain development occurred exclusively through a process called synaptic pruning a mechanism of destruction of the synapses (connections between the neurons) that are rarely used, opening the way for the development of stronger and more effective synapses. A growing fusiform gyrus This is the first time that research has found evidence that tissue in this region of the brain, called fusiform gyrus, increases in size from childhood to adulthood. Previous research suggested that most changes in brain tissue occurred during childhood (0 2 years) and involved either synaptic pruning or tissue shrinkage. To make the discovery, which will force science to rethink the anatomical development of the brain over the years, researchers recruited 22 children (aged 5 12) and 25 adults. They were subjected to visual recognition tests of faces and places and functional magnetic resonance and quantitative magnetic resonance imaging tests. Functional magnetic resonance imaging was used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the observations suggest that cortical tissue proliferation is taking placing. By deciding who gets to talk, what shapes the debate, who writes, and what is important enough to report, media shape our understanding of who we are and what we can be. No Match For The Power Of Lobbying Seattleites would soon find that public opinion was no match for the power of lobbying: So, an unholy alliance downtown business groups, large companies like Boeing (whose interest in Seattle transportation begins and ends with getting commuters through it quickly), the antediluvian WSDOT, craven Seattle City Council members, craven state legislators like Ed Murray (who sponsored the tunnel bill and is now mayor), and head cheerleader Gregoire bullied the tunnel back onto the agenda, and Seattle voters, sick to f ing death of arguing about it, finally voted in 2011 to allow it to go forward (Roberts 1). At the christening ceremony of Bertha, the name of the machine designed to bore through the Seattle underground, WSDOT communications head KaDeena Yerkan pleasantly told reporters We know exactly the path of Bertha and what she ll encounter along the way, (Esser 1). At that time in July of 2013, the tunnel project was expected to be completed within fourteen months. Immediately after Bertha began chugging its way through the Seattle dirt, it ran into twin issues. First, a mechanical issue, namely a clog in the conveyor screw; that was quickly fixed. However, a struggle for jobs between the longshoremen unions and the building trade unions led to the longshoremen picketing the tunnel project and halting work until late September. I had to go back and read this sentence plenty of times to begin to understand what he meant. We as Christians today deal with this reasoning as something that we have done wrong. The more we think we do wrong, the chain of effects and consequences get bigger. I believe this statement is a preface to the question Why do bad things happen to good people? For example if a person stole a candy bar from a gas station, they might think they got away with it, and no one caught them. If Karma truly existed, something might get stolen from that person. That person would get mad, and a chain of reasoning would begin. Later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Screwtape that question has been answered by the High Command. When humans disbelieve in our existence we lose all the pleasing results of direct terrorism and we make no magicians. On the other hand, when they believe in us, we cannot make them materialists and sceptics. Obliviously this situation has become a big problem for demons like Screwtape. In a human doesn t believe that a demon is causing them pain and suffering, then the demon doesn t take as much pleasure for doing something. If I do something good I know that I would like to be rewarded or acknowledged for something even if that is not having the Servants heart that God wants us to have.
