Empirical Literature Article Review of Leadership Ethics
The opportunity to evaluate original research serves as one of the many foundations to both scholarly
writing and research (Grand Canyon University, 2013). Therefore, to enhance this process I will
critique empirical research articles for the purpose of demonstrating the effectiveness in understanding
leadership ethics. So, using the literature presented within in the works of Predictors of Ethical Code
Use and Ethical Tolerance in the Public Sector by Neal Ashkanasy, Sarah Falkus, and Victor Callan
along with Advancing Ethics in Public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beeri, Dayan, Vigoda Gadot, and Werner s Approach
In lieu of the goal to test the relationships between ethics and performance within governments
locally, Beeri et al., (2013) used questionnaires to evaluate the long term effects of an ethics program
on employees perceptions, and the behavior in one council of an Israeli region. This as a result, stems
from awareness of ethical codes, and inclusion of employees in the ethical decision making process.
Groves and LaRocca s Approach
Groves and LaRocca (2011) utilized voluntary community based leadership programs that targeted
educational values on ethics. The leaders of these community based programs were emailed a link
with instructions for participation with an online questionnaire. The assumption here was that training
on both transformational and transactional leadership, in addition to ethical decision making and CSR
would now be implemented.
Results Analysis
All in all, the results displayed by the analysis of each study correspond to the overall effort of the
posed research. For example, supported results aligned with study hypotheses, but signified that
certain mechanisms underlie the criterion for each of the tested variables on different levels according
to Ashkanasy, Falkus, and Callan (2000). Whereas, Beeri et al., (2013)

The Trial Of The People V. O.j. Simpson
Often termed The Trial of the Century , the case of The People v. O.J. Simpson was one of the most
publicized in the world. Orenthal James Simpson was born in San Francisco on July 9, 1947. Whilst at
USC, he had started college football, which would lead him to have a famous career with the National
Football League, which he retired from in 1979. During this time, Mr. Simpson married his first wife,
Marguerite L. Whitley, and had three children. Afterwards, O.J. Simpson moved onto his acting and
sport casting career, during which he divorced his wife ( O.J. Simpson Biography 2016). Nicole

Near the victims themselves, there was a single intact leather glove as well as a black ski cap. After
more than an hour had passed since the police arrival at the scene, Detective Lang of the homicide
division arrived at 4:25 AM, to further investigate. Once there, the keys and pager of Ron Goldman
were found on the ground, as well as additional dog footprints (Trial of the Century). The bloody
footprints exiting the property were found to be a size 12, and are depicted in Figure 1. It is important
to note that there was a slight inconsistency of the footprints further away from the bodies, as if the
perpetrator looked back. Figure 1 The first thing Detective Lang had started to analyze was the blood
related evidence. By observing the heel to toe stride analysis of the bloody footprints, it was
determined that a person was indeed wearing those shoes, and the prints were not planted. As
aforementioned, the inconsistency of the footprints revealed that the murderer actually stopped in his
escape and looked back towards the bodies. A possible reason for this was that the murderer might
have been looking for something; such as the ski cap or glove he lost (Brown). It has been reported
that there were thick bushes and trees in the walkway near the bodies. This may have made the
criminal decide to not search for them, and

Similarities Between Splendor And Triumph
Many of us have heard of problems with Carnival Cruises in recent years. A major incident happened
in 2010 when an engine fire aboard Carnival Splendor caused the ship to be stranded 200 miles off the
coast of California. Since then, many Carnival cruises have faced similar issues. Carnival Triumph had
a fire on board in February of 2013. Then, in March of the same year, Carnival Legend had problems
with increasing their ship s speed. There are always risks when going on a cruise, but could Carnival
have avoided the problems that happened? There are many similarities between the Splendor and
Triumph incidents. Both ships had a fire on board that damaged important parts. The engineers on
Splendor were able to control the fire, but back up

Advantages And Differences Of Federalism In The Philippines
Changing the form of government to Federalism in the Philippines will positively impact Northern
Mindanao. But what exactly is Federalism? Federalism is another political system that is practiced by
other countries such as the United States. In federalism, authority is divided and not centered. In short,
federalism is division of authority and its subunits. These subunits are the different local government
in the country which will be called as states. Federalism is very different from the unitary system that
our country is currently implementing. One of the biggest differences of federalism and unitary system
is that in unitary system the same laws and policies are implemented in the whole country. Whereas in
federalism, local governments have all the authority to established and implement their own laws in
their independent states. However, international negotiations and relations, national security and other
international affairs are primarily decided by the central state. In short, even though local governments
has the full authority in their own independent state the central state will still hold the biggest power
among them which means the central state will have all the right to establish national laws which the
independent states need to follow and implement too other than the ... Show more content on

Film Analysis Of The Breakfast Club
Joohyun Cho Introduction to Psychology Film Analysis of The Breakfast Club Introduction The film
The Breakfast Club was directed and written by John Hughes and was released in the year 1985
(IMDB, 2016). The film s running time is 95 minutes and can be categorized under the genre of
comedy and drama. It follows five teenagers, who all vary in personality and stereotype, get stuck in
detention on a Saturday morning. They are all different types of people in nature but when stripped
down and seen through without a stereotypical lens, they all have something to share and have
something in common amongst themselves despite being so different from each other. In the movie,
they are stereotyped as, a basket case, a brain, an athlete, a princess, and a criminal (IMDB, 2016).
The setting takes place in a library and whilst they are in detention, they go through varying phases.
They start off with solitude, then proceed to share a few words, and later into the film they start to
disclose information about themselves that normally would be very difficult to disclose. While they
are in the library they start off as complete strangers and barely talk to each other. As the movie
progresses, they start doing a lot of things that a normal group of friends would do such as dancing,
playing music, sneaking out together, and even smoking a joint together. The main issue that the
movie raises is the idea that being subjected to peer pressure and malicious parenting

My Statement Of Purpose For Physics And Physics
In high school, intensely intrigued by the mechanisms and experiments in physics, I regularly took
part in the State Science Exhibitions demonstrating models from the solar oven to spring mass
systems. My passion for Physics and Mathematics spurred me to win awards at State Level
Competitions. It further led me to choose a major in Science during Secondary School and my
undergraduate major in Engineering Physics at the NIT Calicut. My duly qualified academic
performance enabled me to receive the Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste Students for the
full duration of the program (2010 14). The methodical approach I towards learning helped me to
graduate with a degree in first class.
At NITC, the curriculum grounded my knowledge in both theoretical and experimental aspects of
physics. Among the courses I credited, my penchant for Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics
stimulated me to conduct a literature survey on the Tripropellant Rocket Propulsion System. Attending
the Aerodynamics course aided me to gain a grasp of the fluid mechanics and honed my
computational skills in Matlab simulation. In my junior year, participation in a seminar on the topic

The Devildogs Quotes With Page Numbers
As I read through the beginning of the book, I was continuously vexed by how careless Julio and
Romiette behaved around gangs. By analyzing the pair s actions, we can infer that they don t see The
Devildogs as a serious threat. This excerpt is a magnificent example of that. This passage describes
how Julio and Romiette respond to a potentially dangerous situation with careless actions. The duo is
stared down by potentially dangerous gang members, and they reply by loudly dancing on the table.
Not only would common sense tell them this is not a good idea, but also the fact that Julio moved
away from Texas to escape gangs. You would think that these combined factors would encourage
Romiette and especially Julio to take gangs as a serious threat. ... Show more content on

The plot to High School Musical is that the male main character, Troy, meets the female main
character, Gabriella, at a New Years party. During the holiday break, Gabrielle moves to Troy s school
district, and they see each other in the hall when school starts again. Troy and Gabriella are thrilled,
but there s a catch. Troy is a jock, who plays baseball, and Gabriella is a brainiac, who s trying to start
fresh. Together they fall in love and find a mutual love of theater. Consequently, Sharpay and Ryan,
who are consistently given the lead roles, feel threatened. They try to break up Troy and Gabriella
while the brainiacs and the basketball team cooks up a plan to do the same. In the end, Troy and
Gabriella end up together, and everyone else is ok with it. Add some predictable plot twists, and a few
cheesy musical numbers and you have High School Musical! Highschool Musical sounds exceedingly
similar to Romiette and Julio. People are trying to break up the main couple, but they push through
and stay together anyway. There are multiple other stories with similar plot lines, such as Cinderella. I

Crafted Beer vs Mass Produced Beer
What s better, mass produced or crafted beer?
According to (http://www.brewersassociation.org/pages/business tools/craft brewing statistics/craft
brewer defined) a craft brewer is small, independent and traditional . They have to produce less than
six million barrels to be considered a craft brewery. Also from a financial point there is a difference to
a mass producing beer brewery, an alcoholic industry can only have a maximum of 25% of the
brewery. If they own more than this they are considered mass producing brewery because the
alcoholic industry is considered to own the craft brewery. Furthermore it has to have at least 50% of
its volume in either all malt beers or in beers which use adjuncts to enhance rather than lighten ...

Brewery which is located in Boston. (http://www.cnbc.com/id/39233398/page/2) ,
(http://www.nomorefreebeer.com/index.php/the facts/anheuser beer list/)
There are two main aspects why people prefer crafted beer over mass produced beer, and quality is
one of those aspects. The main reason why they differ so much is that the purpose of the factories
producing the beer is different. For craft breweries it is important to have a really good in their beers
because their customers are willing to pay more for a higher quality. They use normally better and
more expensive ingredients and pay a lot of attention to the production process. The mass produced
beers are not even known for a good quality, sure there are some more expensive ones like Corona but
most of them are not. The reason why firms don t keep the quality high is that they want it to be cheap
and everyone should be able to purchase it because the main purpose of mass produced beer is to get
the consumer drunk. That s the actual part of enjoyment you get from drinking a beer.

Loss Oriented Stressors
Death has always been and will be a topic that just a few want to talk, but since time immemorial man
has worshiped their dead, and this is reflected in the various rituals and forms of burial. The anguish
of death has been considered the deepest anguish of man. Death is the inevitable companion of life, is
the final stage. It can occur at any age, suddenly or after a long illness. Despite knowing that someday
we will have to die the death of a loved one is a terrible fact, very difficult to accept, that affects
everyone around the deceased person. When the link with the deceased breaks, the suffering is so
great, that they put into question the fundamentals of being, of human existence and our deepest
beliefs, affecting significantly the basic family and social relationships.
The process model of coping with bereavement identified two types of stressors related to
bereavement: loss oriented stressors and restoration oriented stressors. Loss oriented stressors are
essentially those that relate directly to the death and the feelings associated with it. These types of
stressors include ruminating on the emotions associated with the deceased, concentrating on how life
had been prior to the loss, and focusing on the actual circumstances surrounding the death. Restoration
oriented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

support and comfort in this difficult time of the end of life. Numerous Researchers now for many

The Feminist Philosphoy and May Wollstonecraft
Fiercely independent and far from conventional Mary Wollstonecraft called for more equality between
the sexes; she ignited the flame that would turn into the feminist movement we know today.
Wollstonecraft was a key founder of feminist philosophy. A Vindication of the Rights of Woman
(1792) stated her view that women should have a wider access to education, not taught to depend on
their beauty. A committed women s liberationist cannot retire from the job, only die at it. (Dann, 1985)
Mary Wollstonecraft encompassed this perfectly.
I do not wish them [women] to have power over men; but over themselves (Wollstonecraft, 1995).

independent. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With education available to everyone in New Zealand it is hard to imagine a time where most women
were denied education beyond to know just enough arithmetic to do household accounts and just
enough geography to converse with her husband and friends (Gordon, 2005). When women were not
valued as equals Wollstonecraft believed that women should be educated and emancipated. Strengthen
the female mind by enlarging it, and there will be an end to blind obedience (Wollstonecraft, 1995).
While there are more opportunities for women in terms of education; they are underrepresented in
fields such as science and technology (Huhman, 2012), although this is slowly changing. In New
Zealand there have been two female heads of government (Jenny Shipley and Helen Clark) who are
evidence of how far the emancipation of women has progressed from the time period in which
Wollstonecraft was labelled a Hyena in petticoats by Horace Walpole. Taught from their infancy that
beauty is woman s sceptre, the mind shapes itself to the body, and roaming round its gilt cage, only

Analysis Of The Film Peppermint Candy
In Sopyonje, the narrative structure is linear, which the cause leads to the effect. Peppermint Candy
narrators the personal narrative of Youngho by a series of episodic event. The episodic events are a
chain of events that are linked through repetition of motifs, which is the scene of railway. The episodic

Literary Analysis To Kill A Mockingbird
Literary Analysis: To Kill a Mockingbird Throughout time authors have used symbolism to express a
greater meaning in simple words because it allows readers to connect the real world to what they are
reading in an abstract way, like philosophers using the dove to represent peace and fire to represent
ferocity; in To Kill A Mockingbird , Harper Lee uses symbolism to make a point about maturity in
particular when Miss Maudie gives Jem cake, when scout tries to learn innocence and when scout tries
to learn how to observe a situation from someone else s perspective.
Generally speaking, In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses symbolism when she has
Miss Maudie give cake to Dill, Jem and Scout. Scout remembers that Miss Maudie made the best
cakes, and in their childhood every time she made a big cake and three little ones (Lee 43). This line
shows that Miss Maudie would bake one big cake for herself and three little kids for the kids. Lee uses
symbolism during this scene to use the different sizes of cakes to represent age and maturity. Miss
Maudie gives the adults the big cake and the little kids the little cake because the adults are more
mature and would not eat the entire cake bet the kids not knowing proper eddicate would. Although
this scene seems unimportant it matters because it shows that the cakes represent maturity and right
now Jem is still seen as an immature little boy. Again, Harper Lee uses he makes Miss Maudie make
as symbolism of maturity at the end of the trial, Scout notices that There was a big cake and two little
ones on Miss Maudie s kitchen table, There should have been three little ones ... and we must have
shown it when she cut from the big cake and give the slice to Jem (Lee 215). This quote shows that
Miss Maudie is changing her ritual by giving Jema big piece of cake instead of a little cake. In other
words the symbol of the cake shows that Jem is growing up and becoming more mature, so Miss
Maudie give him a big slice of cake shows that Miss Maudie recognizes him as a young adult.
Although this scene may also seem insignificant; however, this scene is crucial to show the reader the
maturing of Jem because without him becoming mature, how are the readers

Along with Steve Jobs, he founded Apple, a well known technology company. With its iconic bitten

wondered about Apple s history and how it influences today s society? Back in 1970s, computers were
very complex, had many chips, and hard to come by. This all changed in 1975, when Wozniak tested
the Apple I s prototype. This computer had less chips than other leading brands and was able to, for

Theodore Kaczynski Biography
When you think of the word terrorist, what comes to mind? For most, the first thought they have is
mass destruction, chaos, and numerous fatalities, all brought on by foreign members of an elite group
of people with twisted beliefs. Although, this may be the case in some scenarios, it is not what defines
a terrorist. The definition is broad in terms, covers a wide spectrum of violent acts, and no one gender,
race or ethnicity is singled out. On April 3, 1996 the nation s longest man hunt came to an end, when
Theodore Kaczynski, was finally caught for the many acts of domestic terrorism he perpetrated

In 1995, Kaczynski wrote letters to major media outlets explaining his goals, and demanding that his

Shortly thereafter, the FBI and the US department of Justice allowed the essay to be published in the

the end of his terror. Ted s brother, David, read the published manifesto, and compared it to an earlier

Motivation And Motivation For Academic Achievements
It is important for everyone especially students to do well in school because it reflects in the
foundation of their accomplishments in life. Students are affect their ability to move to the next level
when they fail to complete some requirements. It takes many factors to motivate individuals to
continue on striving for academic achievements. (Higgins, 2008) It is said that motivation gives big
contribution in one individual s success. Motivation is defined as the organized patterning of three
psychological functions that serves to direct, energize, and regulate goal oriented activity: personal
goals, emotional arousal processes, and personal agency beliefs. It is an interactive construct

In conformity with the social norms, people learn by imitating others. However, people don t learn
only the acceptable social behaviours, they may also learn beyond the norms behaviours. Knowledge
gained in this way will have the chance to be transferred to another situation. This may continue all
the time and everywhere. In the same vein, we can argue that students spend most of their time by
learning. This can happen in different situations. It can be seen in groups while with others.
(Woldetsadik Lumadi, 2014) In a school situation students continuously engage themselves in the
learning process. It can be observed when they do assignments, read books and do other related
academic activities. Obviously, this is a regular process exercised by most of the students in schools.
However, the habit of doing these things can t happen at a time. It needs careful observation and
systematic exercise. All these efforts lead students to make their own meaning/understanding of the
activities. Besides, it enables them to reach at a level of sharing their own experiences and to become
a continuous process.
In view of this, Battersby and Gordon (2006) have cited some of the specific situations that can
develop experience within the school context. They stated varied sources of experience. They believe
that the identification of best characteristics of both teachers and students, either in group or
individually, in the first place

Araby By James Joyce s Araby
James Joyce s Araby is a short story narrated by an adolescent boy who falls in love with a nameless
girl on North Richmond Street. Every day this boy watches her brown figure, which is always in [his]
eyes, and chases after it (27). According to the boy, lher image accompanie[s] [him] even in places the

Therefore, when he finally has a conversation with her, about a Dublin bazaar called Araby, it causes
him to become disoriented. The boy fails to concentrate at his Christian Brother School and at home,

Belief in a God Is Necessary for a Moral Society
Belief in a God is necessary for a moral society
Religion in the world has always been considered a rather important aspect of society. Although this is
true, there are still people that question the existence of God. A survey done among 1000 people
showed that 65 percent of Americans believe that religion is losing its influence on American life
(Sheler, 8). Even so, Belief in a God is necessary for a moral society because since the beginning of
history man has always made up some sort of role model to explain events and situations that seem
inexplicable, God gives people a sense of comfort and hope to know they aren t alone, and when a
society believes in a God, there is a religion behind it that gives ethics and values that they must ...

Even president Clinton himself agrees that faith and religion are very important for the growth of a
moral society. He states I do not believe I could do my job as president, much less continue to grow as
a person, in the absence of my faith in God (Sheler, 5)
The opposing arguments towards the belief in God and it having anything to do with moral society
usually state that the religiousness of our country doesn t have much to do with the actual religion part
(Bender, Bruno, 27). The counter argument says that religion is being used more as sociability or a
way of belonging, rather than the actual believing in a God and wanting to spread his holy word.
Other facts they may use are that people are able to have a conscience and are able to make decisions
without having a holy book to tell them the difference between right and wrong. They usually express
the fact that all people have the ability to tell between right and wrong due to instincts.
The separation of church and state has been pushed upon people for a very long time. Today, it is very,
very unlikely to find a school where you can discuss religion. Although it seems that the majority
believes that both state and church should be separated, there are more people that feel religion should
be allowed in schools. If religion were allowed in schools, the children of America would have a better
understanding of religion and of God.

Gonadotropins Research Paper
Injectable Fertility drugs (gonadotropins)
What are gonadotropins?
Gonadotropins are injectable fertility medications, containing follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)
alone or combined with luteinizing hormone (LH). During a natural menstrual cycle, both FSH and
LH are produced by the pituitary gland in the brain to naturally stimulate the ovaries to produce a
single egg each month. When FSH (with or without LH) is given as an injection, it works directly on
the ovaries to make multiple follicles (cysts containing eggs).
Gonadotropins are used during fertility treatments such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro
fertilization (IVF). Injections of gonadotropins are started early in the menstrual cycle to cause
multiple eggs to grow to a mature size. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), another injectable
medication, is then used to trigger the release of the eggs when they are mature. Close monitoring of
patients with ultrasound who are using these medications is advised in order to minimize the side
effects and risks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When FSH is given in larger amounts than would occur in a natural menstrual cycle it results in more
than one egg being ripened and matured.
1. Sometimes if you are not ovulating, Gonadotrophins are given in the amount roughly equal to that
of a natural menstrual cycle and this is called ovulation induction.
2. Gonadotrophins are commonly used in IVF cycles. The intention here is to produce ideally 10 to 15
eggs with the aim of fertilizing them outside the body. The reason why so many eggs are necessary is
that the process of IVF is relatively inefficient and the more eggs that are available for fertilization, the
more likely pregnancy is to

Debunking Skin Dermatology
When it comes to skincare and problems related to the skin, dermatologists often cringe at the
misplaced ideas people have. Some skincare tips are actually so deadly that dermatologists and other
skin specialists have to go a long way to make their patients understand the truth behind the myth. So
let s try to understand the role of dermatologists in debunking skin ailment myths. Avoid smiling,
avoid wrinkles If there s any iota of truth in that statement then all one had to do was to lead stoic,
expressionless lives. One could even save thousands of dollars by rejecting expensive face creams and
serums, botox treatment and other anti aging therapies. But actually, there is flaw in the theory itself.
While on the one hand some propose that smiling will cause wrinkles, others opine that doing facial
exercises will help in reducing sagging and crow s feet. So while some oppose the movement of facial
muscles others promote it! Dermatologists as such play an important role here in explaining to their
patients that while extensive motion of the facial muscles do cause early wrinkles it s actually not a
healthy practice to stop smiling. Smiling and laugher is a form of healthy living and hence
recommended. Facial exercises, are actually simply for neck tautness and won t actually help in
reducing or eliminating wrinkles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This objections implies that a company may be cash poor with valuable assets, this ignores the fact
that a company can use temporary financing to fund current operations with future cash flows. 4.
Valuations may be flawed or imperfect. This is an understandable objection, because some assets are
more easily valued than others. That does not mean though that fair value method should not be used
when the alternative method is just as flawed.
When we look at a benefit of the fair value accounting method we see that a firm will behave
differently, and will take this method into consideration when they are purchasing this asset. The
decisions tend to be less risky if they know that they will have to devalue the asset in the future. Bad
decisions would be something that they would have to identify publicly with future marking to
market. Companies would no longer have a motivation to sell assets for the benefit of recognizing an
accounting gain. Historically a major financial event or crisis prompts reconsideration of accounting
rules governing reported asset valuations. The credit crisis in 2008 generated reconsideration. In the
1980 s the savings and loan crisis prompted accounting rules move away from historical cost

We Real Cool Poem Summary
Mortality is the state of being subject to death. For centuries, authors have been pondering the answer
to the question why does someone have to die and could they escape death. In Colette Inez s poem,
Back When All Was Continuous Chuckles , the speaker and Doris have a very humorous view on

Colette Inez uses diction to aid in developing the tone to cause a surprising emotion from the reader.
The author uses words that are carefree and almost playful, such as silly , freaky and har har to

depressing and somber mood that catches the readers off guard. This showcases that the realization
that everyone is subject to death is unexpected and unpredictable. However, Gwendolyn Brooks uses
diction to add a sense of identity by using the word we instead of I, he, or she. This particular example
of diction creates a group of individuals that are defined by their rebellious action and are at odds with
society. The group identity delays or cripples the awareness of mortality and increases the strength of
the belief in immortality. The authors utilization of diction is not the only major contrast there is in

Descriptive Essay On Canada Day
I think they call it Canada Day. A holiday in the middle of summer not unlike Independence Day in
the United States. On this occasion, I happened to be visiting friends in Tete Juene Cache, British
Columbia, several hundred miles into the interior. Tete Jeune was the French word for Yellow Head .
The name, like the town itself, was a vivid reminder of the not so long ago gold rush days. Fewer than
a thousand residents hid in the forests and canyons of this small settlement that clung to the western
edge of the Canadian Rockies. My friends Chuck Gail had settled here just the year before, buying an
old homestead that included one hundred and sixty acres of fields and woodlands at the foot of Mica
Mountain. Now from the mountain, flowed a creed of the same name, the actual disposition of, was
sometimes that of a well healed river in spring, often a mere trickle in summer. On this hot Sunday in
July however, new friends and families were arriving at Chuck Gail s every moment. A holiday picnic
had been planned in front of the farmhouse. Tables had been set up; barbecue pits ignited, croquet
mallets waited. Howard the Monk arrived early, bringing with him a pot of still warm baked beans.
Howard the Monk, was a man whose true vocation was still under a fair amount of speculation.
Rumors had him placed in the States during the Vietnam conflict. He wore a long traditional brown
robe with a thick braided rope tied at his waist. He had a great image in the wintertime. As I

Argumentative Essay On Co-Rumination
Co rumination is a moderately new development, alluding to widely examining and returning to
issues, guessing about issues, and concentrating on negative emotions with associates. Despite the fact
that it is like self exposure in that it includes uncovering and examining an issue, it is more centered
on the issues themselves and in this manner can be maladaptive. While self exposure is seen as a
positive angle found in close kinships, a few sorts of self revelation can likewise be maladaptive. Co
rumination is a sort of conduct that is emphatically associated with both rumination and self exposure
and has been connected to a background marked by uneasiness in light of the fact that co ruminating
may compound stresses over whether issues will be determined, about negative results of issues, and
depressive findings because of the steady negative spotlight on upsetting themes, rather than critical
thinking. In any case, co rumination is likewise firmly connected with superb kinships and closeness.

Bird Imagery in Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
The works of twentieth century Irish writer James Joyce resound vividly with a unique humanity and
genius. His novel, A Portrait of the
Artist as a Young Man, published in 1916, is a convincing journey through the inner mind and spirit of
Stephen Dedalus. Portrayed with incredible fluency and realism, imagery guides the reader through
the swift current of growth tangible in the juvenile hero. Above all heavy imagery in the novel is the
recurring bird motif. Joyce uses birds to ultimately relate Stephen to the Daedelus myth of the
hawklike man; however, these images also exemplify Stephen s daily experiences, and longing for

Joyce s bird imagery bears in this scene a restraint of Stephen s uniqueness by threatening his self

As Stephen mentally develops in the progression of the novel, he begins his search for the freedom
and power of his soul, as the great artificer whose name he bore would have done. Stephen is now at

Feminism Is A Conflict Theory
In this essay it will assess to what extent feminism has added to our understanding of society.
Firstly, Feminism is a conflict theory that believes that all religions are instruments set up by men to
oppress women with the set of beliefs and practices. There are many different branches of feminism;
the ones being evaluated are called Liberal, Radical and Marxist feminists. Feminists believe that
society is malestream and not mainstream as people believe. The first main flaw in feminist theory is
the fact that feminists only examine society from the viewpoint of women, they do this because they
believe they are in fact helping fight against the oppression of women but the problem is that they do
not examine the views of many male counterparts and therefore cannot help us completely understand
our society. The main differentiation between the different feminist theories is the way that the
oppression against women is caused. Firstly, Liberal feminist are focused on human and civil rights
and freedom of individuals, to summarise, they believe that all humans should have equal rights
within their society. They believe that society changing itself to help women does not happen. Liberal
feminists believe the status of women changing can become a reality if laws that are oppressing for
women change because it would create more opportunities for women to prove that they are equal to
men. Oakley explains a difference between sex and gender. Oakley believes sex differences are set

Essay on Trojan Sofa
The Trojan Sofa
Bernard MacLaverty brings us The Trojan Sofa , a short story that incorporates a corrosive
relationship between a boy and his father, Niall and Da. The title itself suggests that deceit and
deception is a feature of the story, as it turns out, this is two fold. MacLaverty has innovatively chosen
to use the first person narrative mode to enable the reader to become much more familiar with Niall
and warm to him as a character. With Niall being the narrator, he speaks sincerely of Da but the reader
is forced to read between the lines to ascertain just how sincere Da is towards Niall.
We are introduced to Da s deceitful ways from the outset, tricking customers in a chit chat style way to
get clued in on how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Da would ve asked about dogs and alarms so in Niall s eyes, Da is looking out for him and making
sure he is safe. He doesn t see the bigger picture; he doesn t think Da would put him in danger. As Da
tell Niall about how the authorities like to keep us in the dark , the irony of this is not lost on the
reader, for Niall himself is in the dark twofold; he has been duped into spending a whole night in total
darkness in a sofa with the intention of burglarising the major s house for the patriotic reasons Da has
convinced him of but more upsettingly, we can see that Niall is being used as a pawn by Da to further
his criminal shenanigans, without Niall, Da could not pull off his devious schemes.
We are further convinced that Niall is being deceived by Da when it turns out that the British army
major is in fact an architect. Niall sees the framed diploma, but has been brainwashed so much that he
doesn t consider that the architecture diploma signifies that the major may not be a major at all.
Whether Da loves Niall or not is never in question, but Da is risking his long term bond with him, as
Niall becomes savvy to the real nature of the business he is involved in it could go one of two ways;
Da had better hope he has groomed Niall well enough to take the same outlook as himself. Although it
is never mentioned, the theme of deceit and betrayal between the two characters run through this

Child Neglect 1
Running Head: CHILD NEGLECT
Child Neglect

Child Neglect 2
Abstract
Study results found evidence that the apparent negative effects of maltreatment on children s tendency
to engage in crime were real. Being maltreated was found to almost double the probability of engaging
in many types of crime and the effects were worst for children. Sexual abuse appeared to have the
largest effects on crime. This paper focuses on the effect of child maltreatment and neglect. The study
examined the effects of different types of abuse and the effect of child neglect.
For many decades, the act of child abuse has been a major problem in or society. ... Show more

Children who have been neglected are prone to internalizing problems such as low self esteem,
depression, social withdrawal, apathy, and helplessness. They are often delayed in their cognitive and
language development and have poor communication skills. They have difficulty with interpersonal
relationships. In the longer term neglected children lack the ability to participate fully in society as
adults.
An estimated half of the maltreatment fatalities are attributable to childhood neglect. Childhood
maltreatment accidents are most often the result of a single life threatening incident. This makes their
prediction, and therefore prevention, extremely difficult.
During the course of this literature search it became apparent that child abuse and neglect have
become fused into a single entity, as if describing one phenomenon. In fact most research focuses on
abuse. As a result it has become commonplace in child protection research to refer to the neglect of
neglect . A search of Psyc INFO published in the five years to December 2004 revealed 3888 entries
for child abuse but only 57 that concentrated specifically on neglect.
If neglect were defined in terms of harm to the child, there is no longer the need for the subjective
interpretation of parental intention (Connell Carrick, 2003). However, the same behavior and the same
harm done to children may be judged differently depending on how the intentions of the parents are
perceived.
Some parents are unable

Compare And Contrast The Most Dangerous Game And Hunters...
In both Richard Connell s The Most Dangerous Game and Tobias Wolff s Hunters in the Snow, seen
are divergent interpretations of similar setting descriptions, protagonists, and conflicts. The short story
The Most Dangerous Game follows a seemingly emotionless war veteran familiar with hunting named
Rainsford who is being chased on an isolated island by a murderer named Zaroff. Conversely in
Hunters in the Snow, the story opens with a large man by the name of Tub almost getting run over
while standing in the freezing weather; the story continues with Tub being harassed by his fellow
hunters. One of the first details mentioned within the main plot of each of these short stories is their
settings. In The Most Dangerous Game, the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader is to assume that Rainsford has killed Zaroff and won the game by the final sentence: He
had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided (p. 79). The allusion to death as seen in Hunters in
the Snow is within the last three sentences: I m going to the hospital, Kenny said. But he was wrong.
They had taken a different turn a long way back (p. 92). Each of these stories also end happily for the
protagonists. Tub is enjoying time with Frank, who is now no longer making fun of him, and
Rainsford is contempt in Zaroff s bed, his trophy for winning the game. The reason behind the
divergent interpretations of both The Most Dangerous Game and Hunters in the Snow are each of the
authors points of view. The reader can assume Richard Connell is more keen of a happy ending for the
protagonist. Contrarily, the reader can assume Tobias Wolff is a more twisted writer and does not mind
leaving the story unhappily open ended. Each of these short stories motivate the reader to sympathize
with the protagonist, but in two completely different ways. The stories are somewhat similar in their
structure; each ending with only an assumption by the reader of how the tale

Therefore, to enhance this process I will critique empirical research articles for the purpose of demonstrating the effectiveness in understanding leadership ethics. This as a result, stems from awareness of ethical codes, and inclusion of employees in the ethical decision making process. Groves and LaRocca s Approach Groves and LaRocca (2011) utilized voluntary community based leadership programs that targeted educational values on ethics. The leaders of these community based programs were emailed a link with instructions for participation with an online questionnaire. After more than an hour had passed since the police arrival at the scene, Detective Lang of the homicide division arrived at 4:25 AM, to further investigate. Once there, the keys and pager of Ron Goldman were found on the ground, as well as additional dog footprints (Trial of the Century). The bloody footprints exiting the property were found to be a size 12, and are depicted in Figure 1. It is important to note that there was a slight inconsistency of the footprints further away from the bodies, as if the perpetrator looked back. Figure 1 The first thing Detective Lang had started to analyze was the blood related evidence. By observing the heel to toe stride analysis of the bloody footprints, it was determined that a person was indeed wearing those shoes, and the prints were not planted. As aforementioned, the inconsistency of the footprints revealed that the murderer actually stopped in his escape and looked back towards the bodies. A possible reason for this was that the murderer might have been looking for something; such as the ski cap or glove he lost (Brown). It has been reported that there were thick bushes and trees in the walkway near the bodies. This may have made the criminal decide to not search for them, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Literary Analysis To Kill A Mockingbird Literary Analysis: To Kill a Mockingbird Throughout time authors have used symbolism to express a greater meaning in simple words because it allows readers to connect the real world to what they are reading in an abstract way, like philosophers using the dove to represent peace and fire to represent ferocity; in To Kill A Mockingbird , Harper Lee uses symbolism to make a point about maturity in particular when Miss Maudie gives Jem cake, when scout tries to learn innocence and when scout tries to learn how to observe a situation from someone else s perspective. Generally speaking, In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses symbolism when she has Miss Maudie give cake to Dill, Jem and Scout. Scout remembers that Miss Maudie made the best cakes, and in their childhood every time she made a big cake and three little ones (Lee 43). This line shows that Miss Maudie would bake one big cake for herself and three little kids for the kids. Lee uses symbolism during this scene to use the different sizes of cakes to represent age and maturity. Miss Maudie gives the adults the big cake and the little kids the little cake because the adults are more mature and would not eat the entire cake bet the kids not knowing proper eddicate would. Although this scene seems unimportant it matters because it shows that the cakes represent maturity and right now Jem is still seen as an immature little boy. Again, Harper Lee uses he makes Miss Maudie make as symbolism of maturity at the end of the trial, Scout notices that There was a big cake and two little ones on Miss Maudie s kitchen table, There should have been three little ones ... and we must have shown it when she cut from the big cake and give the slice to Jem (Lee 215). This quote shows that Miss Maudie is changing her ritual by giving Jema big piece of cake instead of a little cake. In other words the symbol of the cake shows that Jem is growing up and becoming more mature, so Miss Maudie give him a big slice of cake shows that Miss Maudie recognizes him as a young adult. • 27. Gonadotropins Research Paper Injectable Fertility drugs (gonadotropins) What are gonadotropins? Gonadotropins are injectable fertility medications, containing follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) alone or combined with luteinizing hormone (LH). During a natural menstrual cycle, both FSH and LH are produced by the pituitary gland in the brain to naturally stimulate the ovaries to produce a single egg each month. When FSH (with or without LH) is given as an injection, it works directly on the ovaries to make multiple follicles (cysts containing eggs). Gonadotropins are used during fertility treatments such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF). Injections of gonadotropins are started early in the menstrual cycle to cause multiple eggs to grow to a mature size. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), another injectable medication, is then used to trigger the release of the eggs when they are mature. Close monitoring of patients with ultrasound who are using these medications is advised in order to minimize the side effects and risks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
