Internal Financial Accountability Paper
The practices of internal financial accountability that help prevent fraud or deficit spending includes,
one senior administrator knowing their spending limits. This is knowing their individual institution
budget.
Two, Management must plan expenditures, so they are able to bounce between programs that need
it.This is where senior management is flexible in their financing.
Three, senior administrators must ensure that there are internal controls that effectively prevent
fraudulent or deficit spending checkpoints should be set up to examine budgets. This help ensure staff

that sets aside a percentage of each discipline s budget for contingencies. This should be done at the
beginning of planning budget, so if the reserve has to be used later it is there.
Eight, Accountability in any financial process is important, but in the budgetary environments
mandatory. This is because someone has to account for how the money is being used.
Ninth, Compliance monitoring or financial auditing is critical to the integrity of agency budget
process. The parent organization has to have a specific financial system audit in place. Periodic review
should be put in place to prevent fraud.

accounts and some have even filed lawsuits over them.

In Praise of Margins Essay
In the essay In Praise of Margins Ian Fraizer upholds the importance of margins as a higher sort of
unpurpose (Fraizer 45) defined by his time in the woods (44). Fraizer and his friends spent most of
their time in their margins also known as stomping ice in the woods . Fraizer says that marginal place
and activities are the most important kind (46) because they are where you can try out odd ideas .
Margins could be visiting a park, a friend s house, a dance studio or even a football field, also doing
things such as swinging on a tire, reading, watching movies, dancing or playing a sport. He argues that
margins whether places or activities are valuable because they allow a person to be themselves, have
fun and use their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As they told themselves a frequent activity was exploring and the reader understand this was marginal
when he mentions they were all easily distracted from their exploration with the sight of the perfect
ice to stomp on. Fraizer explains these distractions to extend the understanding of margins and that
they don t require uninterrupted focus because a person doesn t have something to accomplish, a
marginal activity could result in another marginal activity that could have an outcome. I consider
watching movies a marginal activity for many, people go to the theater to simply relax and get their
mind off of other things. Movies let a person engulf themselves in the lives of others, fall in love all
over again with a romance, laugh away all problems with a comedy, or feel a rush of adrenaline with
an action movie. Films similar to these can create inspiration in people to find love, to become a
director, even to become a writer to create a script that will affect people as the film affected them.
Margins being without any purpose unintentionally result with a person having a purpose every
purpose filled activity we pursue in the woods began as just fooling around . Through observing his
kids actions when they encountered a ditch Fraizer remembers his personal experiences with margins.
To Fraizer and his friends the woods played an important role in their childhoods, it acted as a place
where they could let their imaginations run wild and pursue what their

The Diary Of Anne Frank s The Diary Of Anne Frank
Who is Anne Frank? Anne Frank was young German Jewish girl born in 1929, her family were set out
to hide during the Holocaust ( Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect, n.d.). They would hide and live
in several annex rooms for a span of three hard long years ( Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect,
n.d.). She has inspired many people from around the world for courageous and hopeful actions. Her

Relationship Between Belief And Knowledge
Firstly, The Shining provides a pessimistic outlook of the dichotomous relationship between belief and
knowledge in relation to deontology. As Malory Nye details, Robert Tonkinson observes a clear divide
between religiosity and belief. What an external observer may classify as a belief may be
commonsensical to a religious follower (Nye 2008, 122). As a result, religious belief can become an
explanation in itself (Nye 2008, 117). In The Shining, Jack and Wendy represent opposing points of
view on the issue. Furthermore, Wendy does not understand Jack s beliefs, but Jack considers them a
form of knowledge; Wendy s inability to agree with him causes significant conflict between the two.
Wendy merely sees Jack going mad because of what she thinks are his beliefs about the hotel. Wendy
even outright proclaims her confusion when Jack asks her why she wants to go back to her room in the
midst of a debate. However, to Jack, the occurrences in the hotel are facts. They predicate the actions
which drive Jack to the violence he commits throughout the film, and are thus a basis for his
deontology. Thus, the religious commonsensical knowledge Jack possesses works in tandem with his
deontological views to make him a violent threat to everyone that does not share his abilities. This
provides a clear display of the way The Shining negatively portrays the effect extreme religious values
and deontology have on a human s psychology.
Furthermore, Kubrick incorporates theories about

Summary Of Ayn Rand s Anthem
To rule, a ruler needs control. It is the cornerstone of any society with a leader. The society Ayn Rand
creates in Anthem is no exception. In Anthem, the rules in the society depicted by Rand exist for
control, and were initially created for equality but spiraled out of control into a world built on
collectivism and backward teachings. The society Prometheus, or Equality, envisions in the final
chapters of the novella would never have any of the rules in his past society, as he realizes through his
journey that they are evil and damaging. The Unmentionable Times turned into the society we see in
Anthem through giving up freedom for the sake of equality. A high school teacher mailed Rand her
students questions about the novella,

Digestion Lab
Digestion Lab Abstract The purpose of this lab was to understand how different solutions played a role
in the digestion protein. By looking at different variables, such as temperature, and pH we re capable
of understanding just how certain substances functioned and when they didn t. The data for all labs are
clear and concise and give a clear understanding of what solutions work best. All three labs were
placed in a warm water bath set at 37 C to stimulate the reaction as if it were taking place within the
human body. This gives us a more accurate reading on how they would react at that set temperature.
We concluded why certain tubes changed to the color they did and further explained it. This lab

Space s Perception Of Space
Of defining space, the largest question Kant had to wrestle with was whether space was a property of
objects or a condition set in mental faculty. In order to determine this, space needed to be established
as it stands as knowledge. Kant defines space as a priori intuition of transcendental ideality.
Kant demonstrates that our sense of space cannot come from experience. When one perceives an
object they relate the sensations that coordinate to that object a place. For example, one gets the
sensation of the color of an apple and coordinates that color to the apple and the space that the apple
occupies, in order for the apple to be red. The color red corresponds to the apple while the color of the
table it is resting on coordinates to the table, keeping to two distinct positions in space. In order for an
individual to relate an object as outside of them, they must assign them to a place. If this is the case,
then space is a necessary base to one s perception of an object. So one cannot gain the intuition of
space empirically as space is necessary to one s experience of the external world in order to have
sensibility, or the faculty to passively know objects through sensation. Space is a condition to the
perception of objects rather than a property of the objects themselves so there cannot be a perception
of the objects without space. It is impossible to have a representation of there being no space, though
one can very well think of space without objects to fill it. (B39

A Critical Review of The Ambiguities of Football, Politics, Culture, and Social Transformation in
Latin America by Tamir Bar On.
Introduction:
In Latin America, soccer is not a game; it is a way of life. It is mixed in with politics and nationalism.
It defines social classes. How politically influential is soccer in Latin America? It is used by various
Latin American socio economic elites in order to retard the acceleration of working class and popular
discontent (Bar On 1997:1.8). Is it then not intriguing that women play no part in the scheme of
things? I can immediately off the top of my head name at least 5 male professional soccer players...
and not a single female player.

Organisation Man Woman and Organisational Culture by G. Coates
Connection to research problem:
This article is connected to my sociological problem in that it shows that after an extensive research
conducted on 240 (male and female) employees with high management positions, more than half the
women surveyed declared that they would relocate for their career, thus proving women see work as a
central factor in their lives. Of the 240 employees surveyed, only 70 of them were women, again
demonstrating a lack of equality in the work force.

The author argues that soccer in Latin America tends to have a major influence on politics,
nationalism, and culture and those professionals in the soccer industry should be using that influence
to bring awareness to crucial social and political issues.
Research Method:

Measuring Urban Parks On Subjective Well Being Of Urban...
5.2. Estimation Results
We estimate five different specifications of the model presented in Section 3. Table 2 presents our
estimation results of the effect of urban parks on subjective well being of urban dwellers. In order to
check the model consistency, we only include our key variable (i.e., urban park) in the first model as
the simplest version, and then include income and socioeconomic variables in model 2 and model 3.
Because the average happiness level has changed over time, as shown in Figure 4 and 5, we include
time specific fixed effects in model 4. Finally in order to account for the unobserved characteristics at
the local level, we include region specific fixed effects variables in model 5. Adding more variables

Housing ownership is found to be positively associated with individual subjective well being, and
people who live in an apartment are likely to be much happier than those who live in other types of
housing. Females are found to be less happy than males. In terms of marital status, people who
married are much happier than those who have never been married. People whose education level are
higher than bachelor degree are much happier than less educated people. Finally, people who have a
job are much happier than those who do not work.
However, unlike previous studies, the effect of age is negative, indicating that happiness levels of
individual person lower as people getting old. This is an inconsistent result as compared to the
previous studies arguing that life satisfaction is U shaped in age. In many advanced countries in
Europe, individual happiness level is at the lowest between a person s mid 30s and early 50s because
younger individuals have higher expectations than older adults. And then the happiness level increases
as they age because the elderly learn to adapt to their abilities and thus become more realistic (Clark
and Oswald, 1994; Landeghem, 2012). But, in the city of Seoul, happiness level is negatively
associated with age. This is probably because of increasing concerns of physical health among older
adults (Easterlin, 2006). Although further investigation with consideration of the local contexts is

Analysis Of Social Inequality In Battle Royal By Ralph...
Social inequality seems to be more common in places you will not expect. The story Battle Royal By
Ralph Ellison explains that a young boy grows up to learn the harsh reality of being an invisible man.
The author does this by putting the main character in the story, though situations that make him realize
that he is diminished from society. The meaning of the story is supported by the setting of where
different things take place throughout the story. Places such as the main ballroom played an important
role. The ring of where the battle royal took place between the classmates can also be looked at to see
how the narrator explains his point. Towards the end is when the main character presents his speech in
a harsh environment that forces him to push his boundaries. These three settings throughout the story
help the reader understand the meaning of the story that social inequality can make someone become
an invisible man. According to the story Battle Royal by Ralph Ellison, the settings differ between
different parts of the story. In the beginning when the passage states It was in the main ballroom of the
leading hotel... was told since I was to be there anyway, I might as well take part in the battle royal to
be fought by some of my schoolmates as part of the entertainment (Ellison 205). The main character
finds himself having no choice but to do what he was told without a say about whether he would want
to or not. This form of obedience of social class between the African American boy and white men
happens throughout the story. Ralph Elision continues to explain that the form of entertainment was to
watch the kids fight brutally in a bloodshed battle between African school boys. It all began when he
was invited into the hotel ballroom that he would begin being told what to do or what to say or act.
The way the room was set up, put a boxing ring in front of a row of chairs from all three sides.
Immediately after the main character arrives to the boxing ring is when he faces a new challenge that
he must overcome. This fight between classmates has him worried that he might not even get a chance
to give his speech. The author implies that the setting of the boxing ring can intimidate anybody if
there were

The Great Gatsby Illusion Vs Reality
The famous Parker Palmer once stated, I think the pursuit of happiness is the pursuit of reality because
illusion never leaves us ultimately happy. Writings by F. Scott Fitzgerald exemplify illusion versus
reality. Fitzgerald reveals the major differences between the two through his characters emotions and
actions.
Fitzgerald s emphasis on superficial versus real love between the characters prevails. For instance, all
of the characters present incredible facades of success, happiness, and love; however, none of them are
truly successful nor happy. Throughout the novel it becomes evident that the relationship between
Tom and Daisy Buchanan is superficial rather than real love. Raised in a wealthy home, Daisy is
comfortable with having ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fitzgerald portrays the illusions versus reality through the characters and objects within the novel. For
example, Tom portrays himself as an extremely wealthy, powerful man who has a perfect marriage.
However, in the novel, Tom retorts, I suppose the latest thing is to sit back and let Mr. Nobody from
Nowhere make love to your wife (Fitzgerald 137). Tom refers to the affair Daisy is having with
Gatsby which reveals the ill character of Tom who is a careless coward. In addition, Gatsby creates the
illusion that he had a well up bringing and the great stories of how he got his money. However, in
reality Gatsby is named James Gatz, a poor boy from the Midwest who changes his name to become a
different person and create an entirely new image of himself to be a man who wealthy and respected
enough to be with Daisy. Last, Fitzgerald creates the illusion that the eyes of Doctor T.J. Eckleburg
look out over the Valley of Ashes, resembling the eyes of God. In reality, the billboard is just an
abandoned sign from an optician who since moved his practice away. These illusions give the novel a
much deeper meaning and reveal each character s true

Interpreting The Song Halo
CHOICE
The hit song Halo was performed by Beyoncé Knowles. Ryan Tedder (lead vocalist of OneRepublic),
Evan Bogart and Beyoncé composed it. Halo will always be one of my favorite Beyoncé songs
because she sings it with such a powerful voice that fits with the song and the lyrics, also not to
mention the deep meaning behind the song. The great storyline and bold lyrics was a huge factor in
choosing to analyze this song. I like to listen to Beyoncé songs and some of my favorites are: 7/11, If I
were a Boy, Flawless, Love on Top and Lemonade. In my opinion, Beyoncé is and always will be a
music legend. MEANING
Halo is a song about a woman who had been hurt by a past relationship and built walls around herself
so she would never experience heartbreak again. ( Remember those walls I built? Well, baby they re
tumbling down ) But then she meets a guy who she calls her angel or saving grace and she falls in love
with him even though she promised herself she wouldn t. ( i swore I d never fall again. But this don t
even feel like falling. ) This guy makes her feel loved and she always prays that he ... Show more

The song starts off with a choir singing and violins playing softly. One of the key factors in the mood
of the song is the background music. Throughout the song the singers keep echoing halo with the
instruments also playing and Beyoncé always finds a way to match her voice to the rhythm and tone
of the music. This also creates a loud sound. I wouldn t consider Halo as a sad song, more so moderate
and full of compassion. The instruments used are: violin, cello, piano, keyboard and bass drums. The
instruments used give off a warm sentimental tender feeling when combined with Beyoncé s voice and
the background

Caicos Fishing Cycle
The Terrifying Canoe Ride in Turks and Caicos
Have you ever gotten stuck in the middle of ocean? Well, I have. It happened when I was only 10
years old, in the middle of the summer when I was on vacation in Turks and Caicos. While I was
there, I was so eager and excited to canoe. It was one of many things you can do that the hotel offered
and I kept bugging my mom and my siblings to do it. When they finally agreed to do it, I didn t know
how much trouble it would put me in the future and all my other siblings into too. I learned from this
event to always be sure on how to do something before you actually do it. Or just not to be a smarty
pants and think that I know how to do something perfectly when really, I could use a lot of help.

were a complete mess! While on the boat, my sister, brother, and I were in a quiet mood of panic.
When I got back on the shore, I saw my mom smiling and then laughing. At first, I was a little irritated
because she was laughing and her kids could have been killed! But then after my mom told me she
knew we would be safe because one of the workers was already coming to get us, but the other
snorkeling boat saw us first. This is my experience when I went canoeing and then got stuck in the
middle of the ocean. We then got picked up by a snorkeling boat and then safely got back to the shore
to realize my mom was laughing. Getting lost in the middle of the ocean is not fun, so remember,
make sure you know how to canoe before you go out in the ocean and do it! Even though this
experience doesn t impact me on a day to day basis, I can still remember as if it just happened

Slavery In New Jersey City Essay
No matter what difficulties lay ahead, there was only one goal, to be free. It was the road to freedom;
it was a challenge that needed to be completed. According to The Underground Railroad in Jersey City
written by Carmela Karnoutsos Jersey City was the last station on the Underground Railroad route
through New Jersey. Tens of thousands of fugitive slaves arrived here from several states, such as
Maryland, Virginia, and North and South Carolina. From these states, they traveled to the Delaware
River where they crossed over to New Jersey to continue on to Jersey City. The crossing of the slaves
was in the same area of Jersey City as the Dutch settlement of New Netherlands at Harsimus, where
slavery was introduced in the 1640s. The effects that Jersey City s underground railroad had on former

For Jersey City to undergo this event is majorly significant because it is such a small city with such
great history. Slaves/former slaves were traveling the Underground Railroad, the secretive path of safe
houses that led thousands of slaves to freedom in the North before the Emancipation Proclamation of
1863. The Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 implies that freeing the slaves in certain territories
were still against the Union. However, the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 did not free all slaves
due to the fact that the proclamation did not cover the states that were slave colonized states. New
Jersey alone had as many as four routes, with all of them coming into Jersey City. Those routes
extended from the Mason and Dixon Line and the Valley of the Ohio on the South, to the Canadian
border on the North. Jersey City played a crucial role in that era being that numerous individuals
passed through the city. As the last stop in New Jersey, even before criminal slaves reached New York;
approximately 60,000 escaped slaves traveled through Jersey

Dreams in Invisible Man Essay example
There are many types of dreams and many interpretations of those dreams. Dreams of power... of
glory... of the past and the present... but none are as vivid as those that are found in Ralph Ellison s
novel, Invisible Man.
The dreams start occurring in the very beginning of Invisible Man. In the infamous Reefer Dream , IM
talks about a dream he had after he used narcotics. In this bizarre dream, IM hears a speech on the
blackness of black , is assaulted by the son of a former slave, and is run over by a speeding machine.
All of this occurs while listening to What Did I Do To Be So Black and Blue? (pgs 9 12). This is one
of the most significant dreams in the book.
In another important dream, IM s deceased grandfather gives ... Show more content on

reaches the top. On top of the hill is a white house. Trueblood went in the house, and there is a room
that is totally white. Inside the room is a white girl who wants Trueblood to snuggle up with her. But
he just pushes her on to the bed and, the woman just seems to sink outta sight, that there bed was so
soft.... Then swoosh! All of a sudden, a flock of little white geese fly out of the bed(Ellison 55 58).
Soon after, Trueblood wakes up and is going to tell his wife about the dream, but when he wakes up,
he is on top of his daughter. This is important because this dream eventually gets IM kicked out of
college. The reason for IM s expulsion is because Norton had a heart attack due to the shock of
hearing this dream.
Dr. Bledsoe is a target of IM s rage. IM often dreams of publicly humiliating Bledsoe by forcing him
to eat chitterlings. The reason IM feels hatred towards Bledsoe is because IM feels Bledsoe is fully
responsible for IM moving to Harlem. He also feels like he has been stabbed in the back by Bledsoe,
because Bledsoe wrote letters of recommendation that were really letters of degradation. These are the
reasons that IM often dreams of revenge.
IM s grandfather is a constant figure in most of IM s dreams. In a dream after IM joins the
Brotherhood, his grandfather tells him that, You start up Saul, and end up Paul

Critical Criticism Of Hester Prynne
Hester Prynne. Not the Heroine.
In the critical essay On the Scarlet Letter , by D.H Lawrence, Lawrence analyzes the character Hester
Prynne from the novel The Scarlet Letter , and how her life is portrayed. According to Lawrence,
Hester is not worthy of the praise she is given by Nathaniel Hawthorne. D.H. Lawrence uses the
techniques of repetition, compact syntax and biblical allusions to effectively convey his negative
attitudes towards Hester Prynne. Lawrence uses the repetition of certain words to drill them into the
reader s mind. The continuous use of the phrase A. Adulteress! throughout the essay reinforces Hester
s sin, and reminds the reader that she is a sinner, rather than someone worthy of praise (Lawrence).
This repetition resembles the physical scarlet letter, in the sense that D.H. Lawrence is shaming Hester
over and over again, similar to how the Puritans shamed Hester throughout her life. Moreover, the
name of the object that was pinned to Hester s breast, The Scarlet Letter is also repeated throughout
Lawrence s essay (Lawrence). By using this phrase, Hester is reduced to her sin, stripping away all of
her good deeds, because the emphasis is placed on her sinful actions rather than her personal qualities
and life after the sin, which does not give the reader a chance to focus on any positive qualities Hester
possesses. In addition, the scarlet letter holds the negative connotations of sin, punishment and
adultery. By repeating Scarlet Letter , the reader s mind is filled with these negative connotations, thus
reiterating Lawrence s opinion that Hester is the source of evil and her actions should not have been
glorified. Lawrence s repetition of these phrases reinforces Hester s sin and shameful actions, which
effectively conveys his dismissive feelings towards Hester. The use of compact syntax highlights
Lawrence s disapproval of Hester Prynne by abruptly and continuously shooting her down. The
concise sentence Adulteress. Alpha. Abel, Adam. A. America shoots at Hester with negative words
(Lawrence). This rapid fire structure effectively degrades Hester as each word delivers an individual
blow to her character and degrades her, by restating her sin, the letter A which

Aluminum Foil Lab
The purpose of this experiment was to ascertain the total amount of atoms thick a single sheet of
aluminum foil contained, after a final determination of the thickness of the piece of foil itself,
calculated in centimeters with the development of a sufficient, reliable method and use of prior
knowledge. This experiment is conducted by first taking a square slip of aluminum foil at
approximately 7.62 centimeters on each side, with the specific length and height recorded to refrain
from inaccuracies. The scientist must then examine the mass of the aluminum foil using a scale, using
density as the given numerical value, 2.7 grams, as well its equation to calculate the volume of the
foil, determined by density equals mass divided by volume. The determined value can then be used to
obtain the thickness of the foil, executed through the formula, length times width times height, the
width being the measurement that is to be obtained. Certain about the thickness of the aluminum foil,

Race And Imperialism
With the rise of colonial expansion and imperialism, Europeans were inspired by their encounters with
both culturally and physically different people to categorize them; thus leading to the creation of race.
While the construction of race started off as harmless, it has been used to in the defense of cultural
erasure and the oppression of Non White racial groups. Today, the aftereffects of colonialism, slavery,
and imperialism are still felt with increasing racial tension, the perpetuation of racial stereotypes, and
the existence of Eurocentric beauty standards: a concept where people with commonly white features

standards are marginalized. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Synthesis And Secretion And Dendritic Spine Morphology
Calcium controls many neuronal functions, such as neurotransmitter synthesis and secretion and
dendritic spine morphology. The role of CaMKKβ is probably best characterised in the brain.
CaMKKβ and CaMKKα are both highly expressed in the brain (Anderson et al. 1996), and have been
shown to be important in the formation of memory and neuronal plasticity (Wayman et al. 2008). In
addition, studies show the CaMK cascade is essential for axon and dendrite elongation in cortical
neurons (Ageta Ishihara et al. 2009; Davare et al. 2009), as well as synaptogenesis in hippocampal
neurons (Saneyoshi et al. 2008). The CaMK cascade is known to regulate cAMP response element
binding protein (CREB) dependent transcriptional activity in vivo, which is important for
hippocampal long term memory formation (Lonze and Ginty. 2002). Global CaMKKβ / mice
generated by Peters et al were found to have male specific impaired spatial memory formation
secondary to reduced spatial training induced CREB activation, as well as impaired long term memory
for the social transmission of food preferences secondary to the lack of late long term potentiation at
the hippocampal area CA1 synapses (Peters et al. 2003; Mizuno et al. 2007). No difference was found
in other types of hippocampus dependent long term memory, including contextual fear memory and
passive avoidance, compared to wild type mice suggesting that the formation of these long term
memory types do not require the activation of CREB by CaMKKβ.

Examples Of Outsiders In Metamorphosis By Gregor Samsa
Have you ever walked into school or a job and felt like you were not like everyone else? Many people
struggle with the feeling of not fitting into a certain norm, which causes them to feel as though they
are an outsider. In the story Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka Gregor Samsa becomes an outsider when
he wakes up to discover he is a monstrous bug. Not only does his family misjudge him but they starve,
mistreat, and seclude him. Outsiders like Gregor Samsa have always been different and misjudged.
Gregor Samsa is a traveling salesmen working to repay the debt of his father. When he transforms into
a bug the family decides to seclude Gregor by locking him in his room He was already almost totally
turned around, when, always with this hissing in his ear... when he was finally successful in getting his
head in the front door opening, it became clear that his body was too wide to go through any further...
his single fixed thought was that Gregor must get into his room as quickly as possible. (Kafka 151)
His father did not attempt to understand how Gregor was feeling or how this could have happened, he
was quick to judge him and cut him off from society. This does not only occur in stories, seclusion
happens everyday in some people s lives. For example celebrity Ariel Winter was mistreated just as
Gregor was. As a child she was starved and secluded by her mother. This just shows how people
misjudge others for being different.
When Gregor first turned into a bug, his sister Grete, showed him kindness by bringing him some food
She brought him, to test his taste, an entire selection, all spread out on a newspaper. There were old
half rotten vegetables, bones from the evening meal, covered with white sauce which had almost
solidified, some raisins and almonds, cheese, which Gregor had declared inedible two days earlier, a
slice of dry bread, a slice of salted bread smeared with butter... and out of delicacy of feeling, since
she knew Gregor would not eat in front of her, she went away very quickly... Gregor could now make
himself as comfortable as possible. (Kafka 153) As the story progresses Grete becomes careless and
no longer is sympathetic toward Gregor. In fact she hardly even feds him anymore But even when the

Insomni A Common And Overlooked Sleep Problem
A common and overlooked sleep problem throughout college aged people is insomnia. While some
people don t even know they have it, it could be greatly affecting their outlook on life. Not getting the
correct amount of sleep each night can lead to some very extreme mental health problems. These
include: paranoia, hallucinations, schizophrenia, and night terrors. Could therapy help people who
suffer from these health problems caused by insomnia? Researchers who conducted this experiment in
the UK, Freeman at el, (2015) hypothesized insomnia is a contributory casual factor to psychotic like
experiences. With the help of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), the subjects will get better sleep,
therefore they will have less psychotic like experiences. The subjects for this experiment are a
randomized controlled group of 2,614 college students in the UK who tested positive for insomnia
(Freeman at el., p.1). The students will then be randomly split into two groups by the automated online
system (p.4). One group will be treated with CBT for insomnia and the other group will be receive
treatment as usual. Although it is explained that there are no exclusion criteria, all participants must be
at least 18 years of age and they must test positive for insomnia. However, the participants don t have
to test positive for psychotic like experiences, because they want to see how CBT works on the less
extreme cases of insomnia (Freeman at el., p.3). The participants are chosen by taking an

Noah Bambach s While We Re Young
The work of art that I chose is a still from director Noah Baumbach from the film While We re Young
starring actor Ben Stiller. My initial reaction to this was how much different this film looks from
modern day filmmaking. This film was only released not too long ago, in 2015, but it was shot on
35mm film. Most new release films are shot on a digital format. The main reason for this is because of
how expensive it is to shoot a movie on traditional film. To put this into perspective, a 1,000 roll of
film is approximately $860.00, and a 1,000 roll of film will only shoot 11 minutes. Another big
advantage to shooting on digital is, digital is better for color work, something that just can t appear on

It s easy to tell due to the background light that it is daytime, possibly the morning. It looks like there
is a combination of warm and cool colors. The natural light coming in from the windows of the
vehicle shown in the foreground gives the image a warm, brighter color. The colors in the background
are cooler and gives a lighter feel to the image. In terms of mass, this is a three dimensional image.
You can tell because of what is shown in the background, middle ground, and foreground. The
background of this image would be the cars passing behind the vehicle in the image, the middle
ground would be the people in the vehicle, and the foreground shows us the GoPro camera and the
dashboard. I believe this image would be considered to be closed form because it is self contained, as
in the main scene takes place in the car alone and does not take up the outside space. When it comes to
the element of space, although it appears as if the actions in this photo interacts with real space, what
is taking place inside of the car is real, but everything surrounding the car is an illusion. Movies
almost never actually film a real car on a real road, everything behind the car in the picture is an
illusion and is created using a green screen effect. The exact term for how this works is called a
chroma key, which simply replaces a certain color that is either blue or green and replaces it with an
image. So essentially the actors and the vehicle are standing still, surrounded by a huge green screen
which was replaced by a video clip to give the illusion of

The Causes Of Suicidal Ideation
Suicidal Ideation
Most suicidal people do not want death, they just want the pain to stop, so how can the pain they feel
be resolved? The point of my paper is to find out the reasons that people become suicidal and how to
prevent it from happening. People contemplate suicide till the end so by understanding the source of
their pain, it is possible to prevent the unfortunate outcome of suicide. Don t ignore even the smallest
of signs of suicide.
Suicidal ideation is the idea of ending one s life. Suicidal ideations may be the result of loss, anxiety
disorders, depression, substance abuse, and problems in other areas of a person s life that feel so
overwhelming suicide seems like the only way to cope [Pacific Grove Hospital]. People in painful
situations struggle to find solutions to end their suffering.
People who are suicidal can often be very manipulative with their emotions, hiding their darkest
thoughts and instead showing everyone happiness, so how do we really know if someone is showing
suicidal symptoms? Some symptoms include change in appetite, substance abuse, distance from once
loved things, self criticism, psychosis, paranoia, talking about death. Suicide ideations are often a
symptom of result of undiagnosed or untreated mental health disorders [Valley Behavioral]. Suicidal
people may be manipulative with their emotions, but they can t put on a happy face at every moment,
so watch them carefully and confront them when you see some of the symptoms or dual disorders.
The causes for suicide are not thought to be the result of a single factor, but rather the combined forces
of genetic, physical, and environmental risk factors. Individuals who have a family history of mental
illnesses do have a higher risk, however this is not always the case. The effects of genetics on suicide
are due to inheriting mental illness and by inheriting traits. Several mental illnesses have genetic
influences and increase the risk of suicide. These include depression, bipolar disease, schizophrenia,
and some types of anxiety [Dr. Pat, About Kids Health]. Genetics have a large influence on suicidal
thoughts and mental illnesses, although it s not something you can prevent, you can protect yourself
and others

My Great Sacrifice When My Husband was Deployed Essay
Until I felt the effects of sacrifice last year, I never knew what strength truly meant. At the time
strength did not seem possible during my husband s year long deployment. A favorite quote of mine
by an unknown author matched my situation. You never know how strong you are until being strong is
the only choice you have. During this year long sacrifice, I found strength not only in myself but also
from the love between me and my husband.
Deployment is a word that all military spouses and military families dread to hear. When my husband

devastated. Though we received terrible news, we also felt incredible joy that same week. I was

My heart ached like I was hit with a ton of bricks. The white busses were lined up and it was time to
say goodbye. I did not want to take the time we had left for granted. Our hug seemed like it lasted for
an eternity; each time we would let go we would grab each other once more for another strong
embrace. Wiping away my tears, my husband made a promise to me and our unborn son that he would
stay safe and would come home soon. He told me this was not a goodbye but only an I will see you
soon. His ever so caring smile calmed me and I was able to let him go.
On December 5th 2012 our son was born. We were so grateful for the time my husband was able to
come home for our son s birth. Not many other soldiers have that opportunity. We were able to spend
ten days as a family, but it just meant we had to say goodbye again. For some reason, our second
goodbye was not as difficult as our first. I knew I had to be strong for my husband and our son.
Every day we looked forward to my husband s homecoming. I kept a countdown on the white board
hanging on the fridge. It was another day down and another day being reunited again. As that written
number lessened, I became more anxious for his homecoming. Three hundred sixty five days later, my
husband arrived safely on US ground. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. I felt both nervous and
excited at the same time. My family was finally reunited. Our missing puzzle piece was finally home.

Beta Latamase Lab Report
A. General Information on Lactamase
1. What is the name of your enzyme? Are there any isozymes for your enzyme? If so, which one will

The enzyme that will be focused on is the Beta lactamase enzyme. There exist many isozymes
including Beta lactamase (Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Enteritidis str. 2010K 0284) and
Beta lactamase (Thermoanaerobacter sp). The enzyme that will be reported on is the type TEM 1 Beta

Describe an experiment (assay) that could be used to determine the kinetic parameters of your
enzyme.
To determine the kinetic parameters of Beta lactamase, one must be able to perform an experiment
that could be converted into a Michaelis Menten plot. This means that the assay must study the
relationship between the velocity of an enzyme catalyzed reaction is and the substrate concentration,
where velocity is dependent on the substrate concentration (15). The substrate that could be used is
penicillin G. There would be multiple repetitions of the same procedure. For each run of the assay, the
following procedure would be used:
I. Use 10 test tubes with the same amount of B lactamase in each.
II. It would be the amount of substrate (penicillin G) that would vary in increasing amounts in each
test tube. One test tube will have no substrate with each tube having more substrate than the other until
there is a lot of substrate.
III. Measure the initial velocity by determining the rate of product formation in moles per second in
each test tube. The initial velocity would be later converted to the amount of substrate molecules
converted to product under saturated conditions

Alternative Minimum Tax
The alternative minimum tax (AMT) is an income tax levied by the federal government on
corporations and individuals. Congress enacted the AMT as an alternate form of income taxation to
ensure that taxpayers with substantial economic income cannot use exclusions, deductions, and credits
to avoid a significant part of their tax liability. Because corporations are allowed to reduce their
income tax liability, (sometimes to zero) with exclusions, deductions and credits; IRC Section 55
requires many corporations to add back some of these deductions and credits and pay tax on the
recalculated amount.
Corporation must calculate tax under both systems the AMT rules and the regular income tax to

To qualify the corporation average gross receipts must be less than $7.5 million for the three year
period ending before the taxable year for which the corporation is determining qualification.
Corporations are exempt during their first year of existence, regardless of its gross receipts.
The tax base for the corporate AMT is the alternative minimum taxable income (AMTI), it is broader
than the regular corporate income tax base. The AMTI is computed by adding tax preference and
adjustment items to regular taxable income. The most common tax preference item is interest from
private activity bonds. This preference item always increases a corporation s AMTI. Private activity
bonds are basically allowed to be issued as municipal bonds because projects conducted by private
corporations can serve the public need or improve the economy of a state or local municipality. For
example projects funded with private activity bonds include airport, docks, parking garages and
manufacturing plants.
Excluding interest on private activity bonds from the computation of AMT can greatly benefit state
and local government by encouraging the construction of manufacturing facilities, rebuilding
transportation infrastructure, and the creation of many

For this reason, is important know that the mural was painted during the presidency of Miguel Aleman

Movie Theatre Shooting
The topic we will be discussing in our paper is the Aurora Colorado Movie theatre shooting. First we
will go over the events that happened in that movie theatre that day. Then we will discuss the security
personal that the movie theatre had before the incident occurred. In addition we will go fourth with
discussing how the police, hospital and other emergency personals responded to the tragic event. Did
movie theatres change their way of security since this event? Then we will compare this event to
homeland security and explain their connection. The Department of Homeland Security is constantly
learning new things and changing procedures and protocols as needed to create a safe and secure
nation. This event was important because the Department of Homeland Security took into
consideration maybe their needs to be more security in movie theatres. Before this event movie
theatres were one of the last places you think a tragic shooting incident would occur.
A few questions we wish to answer by the time we finish our research on this paper are the following:
Did this event have a big enough impact on our society to initiate the change of gun laws?
Have movie theatres since this event changed security protocols or enhanced security in general?
On July 20, 2012 in Aurora, Colorado, twelve innocent people were killed and about 70 others were
injured. This shooting happened at the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises at the Century 16

that it keeps lightening away and one boy falls for it while the one does not. As the story progresses
the theme Good versus Evil really becomes apparent to the reader. This is supported by the title, the
time, and the characters. The theme of this text is good versus evil. This novel has many different
components to support the theme. The title of the novel even supports this theme because it is
implying that something evil is coming and the good in the world is going to be attacked. As the story
develops the characters and the setting helps develop the theme. The Freaks and its carnival really

Cadmium Essay
Cadmium is present on earth crust as heavy metal and its exposure in environment is very big
challenge to environmentalist because cadmium is non degradable in nature. In environment cadmium
transfers from one trophic level to another and finally accumulated in human with toxic effects. There
is an emergent need to remove the cadmium from environment. Microbes are very helpful in this area
to remediate the cadmium from environment. Microorganisms used biotransformation and adsorption
mechanisms for regulation of translocation of heavy metals. In present time many research have been
done on the toxicity of cadmium in microorganisms. Microorganisms release many types of organic
and inorganic substances by which they can detoxify the cadmium. Such character of microorganisms
is regulated by genes organized at operons and heavy metal resistance genes mostly present on
plasmids. Out of several mechanisms active export is the main mechanisms in cadmium tolerant
bacteria. Several metal specific sensor strains have been formed and applied in many laboratories.
PGPR (plant growth promoting rhizobacteria) are particularly important for enhancing plant growth in

Health Benefits Of Medicaid Recipients
Thousands of Medicare recipients are admitted to the hospital on a daily basis. The majority of
admissions are not preventable, but research and studies have shown that patients discharged from
varying hospitals are more likely to be readmitted to a hospital (Jencks, et al., 2009; Epstein, A et al.,
2011). With increased quality of care, hospitals can prevent readmissions while decreasing Medicare
costs. For Medicare, readmissions are defined as an admission to an acute care hospital within 30 days
of discharge from an acute care hospital (Horwitz, L. et al, 2011). Factors affecting unplanned
readmissions vary greatly among providers and geographical region, and are opportunities increase
quality and coordination of care, thus improving health outcomes. In 2005, the Medicare Payment
Advisory Commission (MedPAC) conducted the Medicare Claim Finding analysis; MedPAC surveyed
hospital Medicaid claims to analyze their hospital readmission data. This research from MedPAC
showed that 75% of Medicare admissions were preventable and 17.6% of Medicare admissions
resulted with a readmission within 30 days (MedPAC, 2011). Furthermore, this large percentage of
preventable admissions were taking a toll on payers financially. The cost of these 75% preventable
readmissions amounted to fifteen billion dollars (MedPAC, 2011). This data raises concern regarding
the financial burden of unnecessary admissions as well as quality issues. Due to the high cost and

Arguments For And Against Code Switching
The ongoing debate for and against Code switching is demonstrated by reviewing the papers of
Vershawn Young and Rebecca Wheeler. Mr. Young voices his harsh disapproval of code switching in
his paper, Should Writers Use They Own English? (Young 111) . This is offset by Rebecca Wheeler s
gently persuasive technical paper explaining her implementation of Code switching which she titled,
Code Switch to Teach Standard English (Wheeler 108) . After re reading both papers several times,
trying to move past the emotion, and return to the point of having a US Standard English, I remain
with my personal definition of the purpose of US Standard English as a tool to communicate. Before
we delve any further, let me share my understanding of communications. In the communications
industry (think Telephone), there is a simple rule, in order for successful communication, the sender
speaks their thoughts, which the telephone converts into an electronic signal that travels across a
transmission medium, to the receiver s telephone where the signal is converted back into speech for
the receiver to hear. If this process fails at any point, then communications fails. Applying this to
written communications, if the sender writes in French and the receiver only speaks Japanese, then
communications fails because the receiver could not understand what was written. To overcome this a
translator of some form must be engaged to insure that the sender and receiver utilize the same

Radical Congressional Plan For Reconstruction Essay
Reconstruction in America was a time designated towards rebuilding the South both physically and
socially as well as integrating this revolutionized area back into the Union after the devastating Civil
War. Through the addition of Constitutional Amendments as well as bills such as the Civil Rights Act
of 1866, the Radical Congressional Plan was able to fuse another race, that of the southern blacks, into
a previously divided nation. Furthermore, the plan of the Radicals allowed Federal power to
encourage a drastic change both economically and socially in the Deep South, however, not without
some drawbacks as seen from the KKK and the repression of Thaddaeus Stevens impressive plan for
economic reforms. This desire to firmly transform the South into an accepting and stable territory is

For example, the passing of the Civil Rights Bill and later the Fourteenth Amendment secured both
citizenship and the basic rights (excluding suffrage) for the Freedmen and therefore tempering some of
the worst features of the horrible Black Codes. In addition to this, the passing of the Fourteenth
Amendment required that previous Confederate states ratify it in order to become part of the Union
again, further securing and protecting an endangered race. In continuation of the Radicals plan to
reinvigorate the South was the passing of the Fifteenth Amendment which not only guaranteed black
suffrage but also ensured that any states who were still dismal would not be capable of amending their
state constitutions to take away the ballot from blacks. Although this was rash in the eyes of the
entering states, this allowed for the equality of races and created greater political opportunities for
those of the black race to partake in government either as delegates or congressmen within their

Mountain Men In The 1800 s
Mountain Men came to exist throughout the 1800 s but were at their peak between 1830 to 1850
mainly because of the Fur Trade. There was never a large number of mountain man to exist. Who can
blame them? Living this sort of lifestyle was never easy; even for those who have acquired the
knowledge needed to survive. They faced many obstacles while traveling from place to places such as
extreme temperatures, starvation, and attacks from Indians and Grizzly bears. They played a large role
in the fur trade and had a very Becoming a mountain man means learning many certain skills.

Was The Egyptian Revolution Of 1919 A Justifiable Act Of...
What was the Egyptian Revolution of 1919 and why was it a justifiable act of civil disobedience? The
Egyptian rebellion was a very political and economic defiance of the law. It encouraged many
individuals, such as Mahatma Gandhi, to protest against what they believe is harmful and
unconstitutional to the country. The Egyptian Revolution of 1919 can be justified as an act of civil
disobedience because of Britain s protectorate and martial law for Egypt and Sudan, for causing false
belief that the protectorate would be changed after the war, and for seizing the country s infrastructure.
The rebellion against the Britain Empire began after the Caucasus Campaign of World War I and
Britain declared Egypt the burden of war; it was then that the ... Show more content on

Lord Alfred Milner of Britain was sent to Egypt in December of 1919, he later left March of 1920 and
advised that Britain abolish the protectorate and grant Egypt complete independence. He saw the
hostile stance of the Egyptian people as uncontrollable and believed Britain would not be able to
continue to pursue its interests, given such public opinion. When Britain decided to send the colonial
administrator, Egyptians responded to the Milner Mission to get rid of Lord Milner and to confound
the judicial system. Thousands of nationalists met at Alexandria s mosque Abu l Abbas al Mursi;
ministers, lawyers, counsels, and students proposed strategies against the British rule Egypt.
According to the report by Under Secretary of the Foreign Office Cecil Harmsworth to the House of
Commons, 800 natives were killed and 1,600 women wounded during the uprising. It states that
casualties for European and other civilians were 31 killed and 35 wounded, while 29 British soldiers
were killed and 114 wounded. So there were 209 European casualties to 2,400 Egyptian. The Under
Secretary of the Foreign Office provided a clear understanding of how many natives of Egypt died for
their independence; clearly there were very few British casualties which shows how much the
Egyptians were willing to give up, to have what they gravely

Suicide In Edwidge Danticat s A Wall Of Fire Rising
Hope is salvation. It is the thing we seek in times of distress and hardship. But more often than not we
put our hope of a better future to be passed down to our next generation. Krik? Krak! By Edwidge
Danticat, is a collection of stories, which try their best to explain the tough challenges Haitian people
experience in Haiti and even outside of it. Because of these challenges and hardships, Danticat
portrays the idea of when people go through suffering , the hope of a better fate lies in the future
generation.
In A Wall of Fire Rising Guy foreshadows his feeling of suicide and his hope for Little Guy to move
on with Lili. Before Guy commits suicide by jumping off the hot air balloon, he hints us his feeling of
escape from the hardships and suffering of poverty. But more importantly, he tells Lili his ... Show

hope of finding a better home, is embedded within his son. We learn in Between the Pool and
Gardenias that Lili commits suicide after her son departs to Miami, leaving her in Haiti. Interestingly
enough, both the stories are connected by this faintl detail of Lili and her son. But, this also relates to
Guy s hope for Little Guy, My godmother Lili, who killed herself in old age because her husband had

Benjamin Saloomon Short Story
The story of CPT Benjamin L Salomon is one filled with bravery, heroism, and selfless service. CPT
Salomon began his Army career as an infantry Private in 1940, shortly after the draft was enacted. He
served honorably until his death in Saipan, Marianas Islands on 7 July 1944. (Bowers)
CPT Benjamin Salomon s story of valor began in the fall of 1940. Congress had recently enacted the
National Selective Service Act, and then Dr. Benjamin Salomon was ordered to report and was
inducted into the Army as an infantry Private. During his time training with the infantry he showed
tremendous skill as a Soldier. Once he completed his training he was assigned to the 102nd Infantry
Division. He did very well while he was assigned to 102nd Infantry Division and was promoted to
SGT within a year. One of his Commanding Officers was said to have commented that he was the best
all around Soldier . (Bowers) Then in 1942 the Army realized that SGT Salomon had been a dentist
before he was drafted. He was notified that he would be sent to the Dental Corp and commissioned as
a 1LT. He requested to stay with the infantry division and was denied. In 1942 SGT Salomon was sent
to Hawaii, where he was commissioned as a 1LT. 1LT Salomon was working in the hospital in Hawaii

Importance Of Commercial Broadcasting
In this essay I will be discussing whether public servicing broadcasting (PSB) is still relevant in 2017?
I will be giving positives and negative views to come to a reasonable conclusion in which PSB is
relevant.
Public broadcasting is radio, television and other electronic media outlets, which are all trying to do
the same job, which is entertain the viewers in other words public service. In majority of the world
funding comes from the government through annual fees. Public broadcasting comes in two was
locally or nationally depending on the country and station you are tuned into. In a few countries of the
world public broadcasting is ran by a single organization but on the other hand there are many public
broadcasting in other countries which cater to lots of different audiences with having different
language shows. Commercial broadcasting Commercial broadcasting (private broadcasting) is the
broadcasting of television programs and radio programming by privately owned corporate media, as
opposed to state sponsorship. Commercial broadcasting now exists in most of the countries around the
world, the influence of this means the number of public broadcasting has declined substantially during
the latter part of the 20th century. This means public service broadcasting must do something
significantly if they are to survive in the television industry. All commercial broadcasters are funded
by TV adverts. Brands buy slots during commercial break looking for. Brands have to pay TV

19 Minutes, By Jodi Picoult
19 minutes is a book written by Jodi Picoult that describes a school shooting. This book was written in
a pretty unique way, because instead of having story told by sequential events from one perspective, it
is told from many perspectives, from different times, and in different orders. For example, one
moment you could be reading from the point of view of the shooter during the event, and the next you
re reading from the point of view of a student 6 months after. The author uses different points of view
and a non linear timeline to tell a unique story. Jodi Picoult uses different points in time for each
chapter, but it isn t a random order. Whenever there is a change in time, it is because it logically
follows what you just read. What ends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the book, you get to see through the eyes of the shooter, the judge, the judge s daughter, the
shooter s parents, the shooter s lawyer, and the main detective on the case. I might even be missing a
few, but these viewpoints were the most used. This ties in well with my previous point where I said
the author used different points in time. Not only do you get to see different views, but also you get to
see each viewpoint at many different times. One chapter you could be reading about what the judge
was doing before her daughter was born, and the next chapter you could be reading about what the
lawyer and his family is going through near the end of the case. There are a few characters and
moments that I think showcase how well these viewpoints were done in this book. One of them is the
different viewpoints during the shooting. While the first time the shooting is described we only see
from the detective, later on we get to witness it again from other s eyes. This line is from Patrick s
view, Turning a corner, Patrick slipped on blood and heard another gunshot, this one loud enough to
ring her ears. (Picoult, 22) and this line is from Josie s view, As the gun fires, it ripper two stripes of
her skin from the base of her thumb. Her hands jerked upwards. (Picoult, 440). These two lines are
talking about the same gun shot, but Patrick s line is from the beginning of the book, and Josie s line is
from the very end. Another part of the book that I think benefited well from different viewpoints is the
relationship between Josie and her mother, Alex. The two don t have a very deep relationship in the
beginning, which is shown by Josie many times, The last place Josie wanted to go was out to dinner
with her mother. (Picoult, 150). Josie usually tries to avoid her mother and thinks she doesn t
understand her. From Alex s view, she feels like she hasn t been a very good mother to Josie and often

Gotterdammerug In Blindness
In Blindness, Saramago presents a society in which most of the people go blind, seeing only milky
whiteness, and lose all societal order. Saramago accomplishes to bring to light what a modern
Gotterdammerug, or twilight of gods, would entail in this thought experiment. Throughout the novel,
the plague of blindness demonstrates the gradual loss of humanity. Plus, the physical blindness is not
the only blindness explored in this reflection on human nature and the implications of pseudo
apocalyptic situations. The modern day gods are the institutions of government, and the disappearance
of government in Blindness is the modern Gotterdammerug, which forces humanity to face its natural
state by forming new morals or devolve into animals. Gotterdammerug ... Show more content on

In Blindness, this uncertainty in one s fate comes from the absence of control due to the government s
disappearance. The government began to disappear when it started a quarantine in which soldiers had
orders to shoot (Saramago 63). A government is there to help and protect, but the government, as
represented through soldiers at the quarantine, is ready to kill its people. The government begins to
lose its claim to legitimacy as it fails to uphold its own purpose The doctor observes that their
situation is all against the rules of humanity (Saramago 63). However, acting on such orders would be
a different matter, demonstrating that there is no more true government but a tyranny. The tyranny
initially comes about when the car thief came up against the metal plate at the bottom of the main gate
when trying to get help for his leg and the guard on duty heard faint noises... [and] release[d] a blast of
gunfire at close range in fear when he saw the car thief (Saramago 75). The car thief s death at the
hands of this guard demonstrates how the government now views its people;

Universal Medical Codes
In the health care system, there are a lot of codes that help diagnose, treat, and discharge patients daily.
Codes help nurses
especially make reports faster along with making them easier to read for individuals within the HIS
department. For a universal set of
codes to be nationally accepted in crucial when dealing with different hospitals. Let s say you are an
individual that was out of town, got
injured and then wanted your care while you were out of town to be documented through medical
records. Medical records at the town
you were in uses a list of codes that are not accepted by the CPT manual. So now, when your records
get taken to the hospital nearest
your home, they do not understand what was specifically done because they are not sure what the
codes the hospital out of town used
means. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why is a universal code manual supposed to be used around the world? Simple, so your care is
properly documented and can be billed to you in the correct manner. Also, another use for medical
codes is to protect yourself from false
documentation. If your documentation is correctly coded according to the CPT manual and everything
else follow correctly, you would be
covered if your documents got tested by someone higher than you or another hospital perhaps. Good
documentation provides a safety
net because it shows exactly what patient care you actually provided. If there is any scrutiny, you are
more protected. (Key Issues
Shaping Clinical Terminology and Classification).
In Radiology, there is not too many codes used within the department. However, when a doctor orders
an exam, often times they
will be abbreviated for the scheduler to schedule the exam. For instance, when we take a wrist x ray,
there are 3 different views that

Essay On Intestinal First Pass Metabolism
6. Conclusions:
Drug absorption and metabolism are very complicated processes that involve many physiological and
physicochemical factors. Adequate information about the processes determining the oral F of a drug is
essential for a successful drug development process. In the recent years, our knowledge about the
expression of drug metabolizing enzymes in the intestinal wall has expanded. In addition, the
availability of in vitro and in vivo data has clearly demonstrated the significant contribution of
intestinal metabolism in mediating the extent of first pass elimination and DDIs. PBPK models
provide an effective and reliable tool to evaluate the role of intestinal first pass metabolism in the
prediction of potential DDIs. The use and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, although in vivo studies of human intestinal drug metabolism could provide very
informative data, these studies are very difficult to conduct due to several technical and ethical
challenges. Thus, the availability of a reliable tool that can scale data from the in vitro setting to in
vivo in humans by integrating IVIV extrapolation (IVIVE) to the appropriate human in vivo system
using algorithms and physiologically relevant scaling factors might help overcome this drawback.
PBPK modeling offers the solution to bridge the gap between in vitro and in vivo systems. PBPK
modeling takes into consideration the interaction of drug related factors with physiological factors,
which enables the prediction of plasma and tissue concentration versus time profiles and explains
several mechanisms (such as first pass metabolism) in an in vivo system. The main advantages of
PBPK models over other models are: (1) they account for substrate concentrations at the enzyme site,
Michaelis Menten constants, and potential saturation of metabolism and (2) they accommodate any
potential regional differences in intestinal availability because of the heterogeneous expression of drug
metabolizing enzymes along the small intestine. Therefore, PBPK modeling has become a cornerstone
tool in the pharmaceutical industry because it has the ability to translate all relevant generated data
during

  • 3. In Praise of Margins Essay In the essay In Praise of Margins Ian Fraizer upholds the importance of margins as a higher sort of unpurpose (Fraizer 45) defined by his time in the woods (44). Fraizer and his friends spent most of their time in their margins also known as stomping ice in the woods . Fraizer says that marginal place and activities are the most important kind (46) because they are where you can try out odd ideas . Margins could be visiting a park, a friend s house, a dance studio or even a football field, also doing things such as swinging on a tire, reading, watching movies, dancing or playing a sport. He argues that margins whether places or activities are valuable because they allow a person to be themselves, have fun and use their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As they told themselves a frequent activity was exploring and the reader understand this was marginal when he mentions they were all easily distracted from their exploration with the sight of the perfect ice to stomp on. Fraizer explains these distractions to extend the understanding of margins and that they don t require uninterrupted focus because a person doesn t have something to accomplish, a marginal activity could result in another marginal activity that could have an outcome. I consider watching movies a marginal activity for many, people go to the theater to simply relax and get their mind off of other things. Movies let a person engulf themselves in the lives of others, fall in love all over again with a romance, laugh away all problems with a comedy, or feel a rush of adrenaline with an action movie. Films similar to these can create inspiration in people to find love, to become a director, even to become a writer to create a script that will affect people as the film affected them. Margins being without any purpose unintentionally result with a person having a purpose every purpose filled activity we pursue in the woods began as just fooling around . Through observing his kids actions when they encountered a ditch Fraizer remembers his personal experiences with margins. To Fraizer and his friends the woods played an important role in their childhoods, it acted as a place where they could let their imaginations run wild and pursue what their ... • 5. Relationship Between Belief And Knowledge Firstly, The Shining provides a pessimistic outlook of the dichotomous relationship between belief and knowledge in relation to deontology. As Malory Nye details, Robert Tonkinson observes a clear divide between religiosity and belief. What an external observer may classify as a belief may be commonsensical to a religious follower (Nye 2008, 122). As a result, religious belief can become an explanation in itself (Nye 2008, 117). In The Shining, Jack and Wendy represent opposing points of view on the issue. Furthermore, Wendy does not understand Jack s beliefs, but Jack considers them a form of knowledge; Wendy s inability to agree with him causes significant conflict between the two. Wendy merely sees Jack going mad because of what she thinks are his beliefs about the hotel. Wendy even outright proclaims her confusion when Jack asks her why she wants to go back to her room in the midst of a debate. However, to Jack, the occurrences in the hotel are facts. They predicate the actions which drive Jack to the violence he commits throughout the film, and are thus a basis for his deontology. Thus, the religious commonsensical knowledge Jack possesses works in tandem with his deontological views to make him a violent threat to everyone that does not share his abilities. This provides a clear display of the way The Shining negatively portrays the effect extreme religious values and deontology have on a human s psychology. Furthermore, Kubrick incorporates theories about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Anthem, the rules in the society depicted by Rand exist for control, and were initially created for equality but spiraled out of control into a world built on collectivism and backward teachings. The society Prometheus, or Equality, envisions in the final chapters of the novella would never have any of the rules in his past society, as he realizes through his journey that they are evil and damaging. All three labs were placed in a warm water bath set at 37 C to stimulate the reaction as if it were taking place within the human body. • 8. Space s Perception Of Space Of defining space, the largest question Kant had to wrestle with was whether space was a property of objects or a condition set in mental faculty. In order to determine this, space needed to be established as it stands as knowledge. Kant defines space as a priori intuition of transcendental ideality. Kant demonstrates that our sense of space cannot come from experience. When one perceives an object they relate the sensations that coordinate to that object a place. For example, one gets the sensation of the color of an apple and coordinates that color to the apple and the space that the apple occupies, in order for the apple to be red. The color red corresponds to the apple while the color of the table it is resting on coordinates to the table, keeping to two distinct positions in space. In order for an individual to relate an object as outside of them, they must assign them to a place. If this is the case, then space is a necessary base to one s perception of an object. So one cannot gain the intuition of space empirically as space is necessary to one s experience of the external world in order to have sensibility, or the faculty to passively know objects through sensation. Space is a condition to the perception of objects rather than a property of the objects themselves so there cannot be a perception of the objects without space. It is impossible to have a representation of there being no space, though one can very well think of space without objects to fill it. (B39 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. A Critical Review of “the Ambiguities of Football,... A Critical Review of The Ambiguities of Football, Politics, Culture, and Social Transformation in Latin America by Tamir Bar On. Introduction: In Latin America, soccer is not a game; it is a way of life. It is mixed in with politics and nationalism. It defines social classes. How politically influential is soccer in Latin America? It is used by various Latin American socio economic elites in order to retard the acceleration of working class and popular discontent (Bar On 1997:1.8). Is it then not intriguing that women play no part in the scheme of things? I can immediately off the top of my head name at least 5 male professional soccer players... and not a single female player. Of the 240 employees surveyed, only 70 of them were women, again demonstrating a lack of equality in the work force. Reference: Coates, G. Table 2 presents our estimation results of the effect of urban parks on subjective well being of urban dwellers. In order to check the model consistency, we only include our key variable (i.e., urban park) in the first model as the simplest version, and then include income and socioeconomic variables in model 2 and model 3. Because the average happiness level has changed over time, as shown in Figure 4 and 5, we include time specific fixed effects in model 4. Finally in order to account for the unobserved characteristics at the local level, we include region specific fixed effects variables in model 5. Adding more variables improves the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Housing ownership is found to be positively associated with individual subjective well being, and people who live in an apartment are likely to be much happier than those who live in other types of housing. Females are found to be less happy than males. In terms of marital status, people who married are much happier than those who have never been married. People whose education level are higher than bachelor degree are much happier than less educated people. Finally, people who have a job are much happier than those who do not work. However, unlike previous studies, the effect of age is negative, indicating that happiness levels of individual person lower as people getting old. This is an inconsistent result as compared to the previous studies arguing that life satisfaction is U shaped in age. In many advanced countries in Europe, individual happiness level is at the lowest between a person s mid 30s and early 50s because younger individuals have higher expectations than older adults. And then the happiness level increases as they age because the elderly learn to adapt to their abilities and thus become more realistic (Clark and Oswald, 1994; Landeghem, 2012). But, in the city of Seoul, happiness level is negatively associated with age. This is probably because of increasing concerns of physical health among older adults (Easterlin, 2006). • 12. Analysis Of Social Inequality In Battle Royal By Ralph... Social inequality seems to be more common in places you will not expect. The story Battle Royal By Ralph Ellison explains that a young boy grows up to learn the harsh reality of being an invisible man. The author does this by putting the main character in the story, though situations that make him realize that he is diminished from society. The meaning of the story is supported by the setting of where different things take place throughout the story. Places such as the main ballroom played an important role. The ring of where the battle royal took place between the classmates can also be looked at to see how the narrator explains his point. Towards the end is when the main character presents his speech in a harsh environment that forces him to push his boundaries. These three settings throughout the story help the reader understand the meaning of the story that social inequality can make someone become an invisible man. According to the story Battle Royal by Ralph Ellison, the settings differ between different parts of the story. In the beginning when the passage states It was in the main ballroom of the leading hotel... was told since I was to be there anyway, I might as well take part in the battle royal to be fought by some of my schoolmates as part of the entertainment (Ellison 205). The main character finds himself having no choice but to do what he was told without a say about whether he would want to or not. This form of obedience of social class between the African American boy and white men happens throughout the story. Ralph Elision continues to explain that the form of entertainment was to watch the kids fight brutally in a bloodshed battle between African school boys. It all began when he was invited into the hotel ballroom that he would begin being told what to do or what to say or act. The way the room was set up, put a boxing ring in front of a row of chairs from all three sides. Immediately after the main character arrives to the boxing ring is when he faces a new challenge that he must overcome. This fight between classmates has him worried that he might not even get a chance to give his speech. The author implies that the setting of the boxing ring can intimidate anybody if there were ... • 14. The Great Gatsby Illusion Vs Reality The famous Parker Palmer once stated, I think the pursuit of happiness is the pursuit of reality because illusion never leaves us ultimately happy. Writings by F. Scott Fitzgerald exemplify illusion versus reality. Fitzgerald reveals the major differences between the two through his characters emotions and actions. Fitzgerald s emphasis on superficial versus real love between the characters prevails. For instance, all of the characters present incredible facades of success, happiness, and love; however, none of them are truly successful nor happy. Throughout the novel it becomes evident that the relationship between Tom and Daisy Buchanan is superficial rather than real love. Raised in a wealthy home, Daisy is comfortable with having ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fitzgerald portrays the illusions versus reality through the characters and objects within the novel. For example, Tom portrays himself as an extremely wealthy, powerful man who has a perfect marriage. However, in the novel, Tom retorts, I suppose the latest thing is to sit back and let Mr. Nobody from Nowhere make love to your wife (Fitzgerald 137). Tom refers to the affair Daisy is having with Gatsby which reveals the ill character of Tom who is a careless coward. In addition, Gatsby creates the illusion that he had a well up bringing and the great stories of how he got his money. However, in reality Gatsby is named James Gatz, a poor boy from the Midwest who changes his name to become a different person and create an entirely new image of himself to be a man who wealthy and respected enough to be with Daisy. Last, Fitzgerald creates the illusion that the eyes of Doctor T.J. Eckleburg look out over the Valley of Ashes, resembling the eyes of God. In reality, the billboard is just an abandoned sign from an optician who since moved his practice away. These illusions give the novel a much deeper meaning and reveal each character s true ... • 17. Interpreting The Song Halo CHOICE The hit song Halo was performed by Beyoncé Knowles. Ryan Tedder (lead vocalist of OneRepublic), Evan Bogart and Beyoncé composed it. Halo will always be one of my favorite Beyoncé songs because she sings it with such a powerful voice that fits with the song and the lyrics, also not to mention the deep meaning behind the song. The great storyline and bold lyrics was a huge factor in choosing to analyze this song. I like to listen to Beyoncé songs and some of my favorites are: 7/11, If I were a Boy, Flawless, Love on Top and Lemonade. In my opinion, Beyoncé is and always will be a music legend. MEANING Halo is a song about a woman who had been hurt by a past relationship and built walls around herself so she would never experience heartbreak again. ( Remember those walls I built? Well, baby they re tumbling down ) But then she meets a guy who she calls her angel or saving grace and she falls in love with him even though she promised herself she wouldn t. Throughout the song the singers keep echoing halo with the instruments also playing and Beyoncé always finds a way to match her voice to the rhythm and tone of the music. This also creates a loud sound. I wouldn t consider Halo as a sad song, more so moderate and full of compassion. The instruments used are: violin, cello, piano, keyboard and bass drums. It happened when I was only 10 years old, in the middle of the summer when I was on vacation in Turks and Caicos. While I was there, I was so eager and excited to canoe. It was one of many things you can do that the hotel offered and I kept bugging my mom and my siblings to do it. When they finally agreed to do it, I didn t know how much trouble it would put me in the future and all my other siblings into too. According to The Underground Railroad in Jersey City written by Carmela Karnoutsos Jersey City was the last station on the Underground Railroad route through New Jersey. Tens of thousands of fugitive slaves arrived here from several states, such as Maryland, Virginia, and North and South Carolina. From these states, they traveled to the Delaware River where they crossed over to New Jersey to continue on to Jersey City. But he just pushes her on to the bed and, the woman just seems to sink outta sight, that there bed was so soft.... Then swoosh! All of a sudden, a flock of little white geese fly out of the bed(Ellison 55 58). Soon after, Trueblood wakes up and is going to tell his wife about the dream, but when he wakes up, he is on top of his daughter. This is important because this dream eventually gets IM kicked out of college. The reason for IM s expulsion is because Norton had a heart attack due to the shock of hearing this dream. Dr. Bledsoe is a target of IM s rage. IM often dreams of publicly humiliating Bledsoe by forcing him to eat chitterlings. The reason IM feels hatred towards Bledsoe is because IM feels Bledsoe is fully responsible for IM moving to Harlem. He also feels like he has been stabbed in the back by Bledsoe, because Bledsoe wrote letters of recommendation that were really letters of degradation. • 22. Critical Criticism Of Hester Prynne Hester Prynne. Not the Heroine. In the critical essay On the Scarlet Letter , by D.H Lawrence, Lawrence analyzes the character Hester Prynne from the novel The Scarlet Letter , and how her life is portrayed. According to Lawrence, Hester is not worthy of the praise she is given by Nathaniel Hawthorne. D.H. Lawrence uses the techniques of repetition, compact syntax and biblical allusions to effectively convey his negative attitudes towards Hester Prynne. Lawrence uses the repetition of certain words to drill them into the reader s mind. The continuous use of the phrase A. Adulteress! throughout the essay reinforces Hester s sin, and reminds the reader that she is a sinner, rather than someone worthy of praise (Lawrence). This repetition resembles the physical scarlet letter, in the sense that D.H. Lawrence is shaming Hester over and over again, similar to how the Puritans shamed Hester throughout her life. Moreover, the name of the object that was pinned to Hester s breast, The Scarlet Letter is also repeated throughout Lawrence s essay (Lawrence). By using this phrase, Hester is reduced to her sin, stripping away all of her good deeds, because the emphasis is placed on her sinful actions rather than her personal qualities and life after the sin, which does not give the reader a chance to focus on any positive qualities Hester possesses. In addition, the scarlet letter holds the negative connotations of sin, punishment and adultery. By repeating Scarlet Letter , the reader s mind is filled with these negative connotations, thus reiterating Lawrence s opinion that Hester is the source of evil and her actions should not have been glorified. Lawrence s repetition of these phrases reinforces Hester s sin and shameful actions, which effectively conveys his dismissive feelings towards Hester. The use of compact syntax highlights Lawrence s disapproval of Hester Prynne by abruptly and continuously shooting her down. The concise sentence Adulteress. Alpha. Abel, Adam. A. America shoots at Hester with negative words (Lawrence). This rapid fire structure effectively degrades Hester as each word delivers an individual blow to her character and degrades her, by restating her sin, the letter A which ... The scientist must then examine the mass of the aluminum foil using a scale, using density as the given numerical value, 2.7 grams, as well its equation to calculate the volume of the foil, determined by density equals mass divided by volume. • 25. Synthesis And Secretion And Dendritic Spine Morphology Calcium controls many neuronal functions, such as neurotransmitter synthesis and secretion and dendritic spine morphology. The role of CaMKKβ is probably best characterised in the brain. CaMKKβ and CaMKKα are both highly expressed in the brain (Anderson et al. 1996), and have been shown to be important in the formation of memory and neuronal plasticity (Wayman et al. 2008). In addition, studies show the CaMK cascade is essential for axon and dendrite elongation in cortical neurons (Ageta Ishihara et al. 2009; Davare et al. 2009), as well as synaptogenesis in hippocampal neurons (Saneyoshi et al. 2008). The CaMK cascade is known to regulate cAMP response element binding protein (CREB) dependent transcriptional activity in vivo, which is important for hippocampal long term memory formation (Lonze and Ginty. 2002). Global CaMKKβ / mice generated by Peters et al were found to have male specific impaired spatial memory formation secondary to reduced spatial training induced CREB activation, as well as impaired long term memory for the social transmission of food preferences secondary to the lack of late long term potentiation at the hippocampal area CA1 synapses (Peters et al. 2003; Mizuno et al. 2007). No difference was found in other types of hippocampus dependent long term memory, including contextual fear memory and passive avoidance, compared to wild type mice suggesting that the formation of these long term memory types do not require the activation of CREB by CaMKKβ. ... Many people struggle with the feeling of not fitting into a certain norm, which causes them to feel as though they are an outsider. In the story Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka Gregor Samsa becomes an outsider when he wakes up to discover he is a monstrous bug. Not only does his family misjudge him but they starve, mistreat, and seclude him. Outsiders like Gregor Samsa have always been different and misjudged. Gregor Samsa is a traveling salesmen working to repay the debt of his father. When he transforms into a bug the family decides to seclude Gregor by locking him in his room He was already almost totally turned around, when, always with this hissing in his ear... when he was finally successful in getting his head in the front door opening, it became clear that his body was too wide to go through any further... his single fixed thought was that Gregor must get into his room as quickly as possible. (Kafka 151) His father did not attempt to understand how Gregor was feeling or how this could have happened, he was quick to judge him and cut him off from society. This does not only occur in stories, seclusion happens everyday in some people s lives. For example celebrity Ariel Winter was mistreated just as Gregor was. As a child she was starved and secluded by her mother. This just shows how people misjudge others for being different. When Gregor first turned into a bug, his sister Grete, showed him kindness by bringing him some food She brought him, to test his taste, an entire selection, all spread out on a newspaper. There were old half rotten vegetables, bones from the evening meal, covered with white sauce which had almost solidified, some raisins and almonds, cheese, which Gregor had declared inedible two days earlier, a slice of dry bread, a slice of salted bread smeared with butter... and out of delicacy of feeling, since she knew Gregor would not eat in front of her, she went away very quickly... While some people don t even know they have it, it could be greatly affecting their outlook on life. Not getting the correct amount of sleep each night can lead to some very extreme mental health problems. These include: paranoia, hallucinations, schizophrenia, and night terrors. Could therapy help people who suffer from these health problems caused by insomnia? Researchers who conducted this experiment in the UK, Freeman at el, (2015) hypothesized insomnia is a contributory casual factor to psychotic like experiences. With the help of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), the subjects will get better sleep, therefore they will have less psychotic like experiences. The subjects for this experiment are a randomized controlled group of 2,614 college students in the UK who tested positive for insomnia (Freeman at el., p.1). The students will then be randomly split into two groups by the automated online system (p.4). One group will be treated with CBT for insomnia and the other group will be receive treatment as usual. Although it is explained that there are no exclusion criteria, all participants must be at least 18 years of age and they must test positive for insomnia. The background of this image would be the cars passing behind the vehicle in the image, the middle ground would be the people in the vehicle, and the foreground shows us the GoPro camera and the dashboard. The point of my paper is to find out the reasons that people become suicidal and how to prevent it from happening. People contemplate suicide till the end so by understanding the source of their pain, it is possible to prevent the unfortunate outcome of suicide. Don t ignore even the smallest of signs of suicide. Suicidal ideation is the idea of ending one s life. Suicidal ideations may be the result of loss, anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse, and problems in other areas of a person s life that feel so overwhelming suicide seems like the only way to cope [Pacific Grove Hospital]. People in painful situations struggle to find solutions to end their suffering. People who are suicidal can often be very manipulative with their emotions, hiding their darkest thoughts and instead showing everyone happiness, so how do we really know if someone is showing suicidal symptoms? Some symptoms include change in appetite, substance abuse, distance from once loved things, self criticism, psychosis, paranoia, talking about death. Suicide ideations are often a symptom of result of undiagnosed or untreated mental health disorders [Valley Behavioral]. Suicidal people may be manipulative with their emotions, but they can t put on a happy face at every moment, so watch them carefully and confront them when you see some of the symptoms or dual disorders. The causes for suicide are not thought to be the result of a single factor, but rather the combined forces of genetic, physical, and environmental risk factors. Individuals who have a family history of mental illnesses do have a higher risk, however this is not always the case. The effects of genetics on suicide are due to inheriting mental illness and by inheriting traits. Several mental illnesses have genetic influences and increase the risk of suicide. These include depression, bipolar disease, schizophrenia, and some types of anxiety [Dr. Pat, About Kids Health]. • 33. Beta Latamase Lab Report A. General Information on Lactamase 1. What is the name of your enzyme? Are there any isozymes for your enzyme? If so, which one will you be using? The enzyme that will be focused on is the Beta lactamase enzyme. There exist many isozymes including Beta lactamase (Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Enteritidis str. 2010K 0284) and Beta lactamase (Thermoanaerobacter sp). The enzyme that will be reported on is the type TEM 1 Beta lactamase (1). The TEM 1 type of Beta lactamase is the most common lactamase enzyme found in E. coli. The substrate that could be used is penicillin G. There would be multiple repetitions of the same procedure. For each run of the assay, the following procedure would be used: I. Use 10 test tubes with the same amount of B lactamase in each. II. It would be the amount of substrate (penicillin G) that would vary in increasing amounts in each test tube. One test tube will have no substrate with each tube having more substrate than the other until there is a lot of substrate. III. Congress enacted the AMT as an alternate form of income taxation to ensure that taxpayers with substantial economic income cannot use exclusions, deductions, and credits to avoid a significant part of their tax liability. Because corporations are allowed to reduce their income tax liability, (sometimes to zero) with exclusions, deductions and credits; IRC Section 55 requires many corporations to add back some of these deductions and credits and pay tax on the recalculated amount. The AMTI is computed by adding tax preference and adjustment items to regular taxable income. The most common tax preference item is interest from private activity bonds. This preference item always increases a corporation s AMTI. Private activity bonds are basically allowed to be issued as municipal bonds because projects conducted by private corporations can serve the public need or improve the economy of a state or local municipality. In a little town called Green Town, Illinois two boys get approached by a man holding a stick and the boys get persuaded about this stick. The man tells them that it keeps lightening away and one boy falls for it while the one does not. As the story progresses the theme Good versus Evil really becomes apparent to the reader. This is supported by the title, the time, and the characters. The theme of this text is good versus evil. This novel has many different components to support the theme. The title of the novel even supports this theme because it is implying that something evil is coming and the good in the world is going to be attacked. The majority of admissions are not preventable, but research and studies have shown that patients discharged from varying hospitals are more likely to be readmitted to a hospital (Jencks, et al., 2009; Epstein, A et al., 2011). With increased quality of care, hospitals can prevent readmissions while decreasing Medicare costs. For Medicare, readmissions are defined as an admission to an acute care hospital within 30 days of discharge from an acute care hospital (Horwitz, L. et al, 2011). Factors affecting unplanned readmissions vary greatly among providers and geographical region, and are opportunities increase quality and coordination of care, thus improving health outcomes. If this process fails at any point, then communications fails. Applying this to written communications, if the sender writes in French and the receiver only speaks Japanese, then communications fails because the receiver could not understand what was written. For example, one moment you could be reading from the point of view of the shooter during the event, and the next you re reading from the point of view of a student 6 months after. Not only do you get to see different views, but also you get to see each viewpoint at many different times. One chapter you could be reading about what the judge was doing before her daughter was born, and the next chapter you could be reading about what the lawyer and his family is going through near the end of the case. There are a few characters and moments that I think showcase how well these viewpoints were done in this book. One of them is the different viewpoints during the shooting. While the first time the shooting is described we only see from the detective, later on we get to witness it again from other s eyes. Another part of the book that I think benefited well from different viewpoints is the relationship between Josie and her mother, Alex. The two don t have a very deep relationship in the beginning, which is shown by Josie many times, The last place Josie wanted to go was out to dinner with her mother. (Picoult, 150). Adequate information about the processes determining the oral F of a drug is essential for a successful drug development process. In addition, the availability of in vitro and in vivo data has clearly demonstrated the significant contribution of intestinal metabolism in mediating the extent of first pass elimination and DDIs. Thus, the availability of a reliable tool that can scale data from the in vitro setting to in vivo in humans by integrating IVIV extrapolation (IVIVE) to the appropriate human in vivo system using algorithms and physiologically relevant scaling factors might help overcome this drawback. PBPK modeling offers the solution to bridge the gap between in vitro and in vivo systems. PBPK modeling takes into consideration the interaction of drug related factors with physiological factors, which enables the prediction of plasma and tissue concentration versus time profiles and explains several mechanisms (such as first pass metabolism) in an in vivo system. The main advantages of PBPK models over other models are: (1) they account for substrate concentrations at the enzyme site, Michaelis Menten constants, and potential saturation of metabolism and (2) they accommodate any potential regional differences in intestinal availability because of the heterogeneous expression of drug metabolizing enzymes along the small intestine.
