Downtown Massillon
On October 14 I attended a New Wave concert in Downtown Massillon. This concert was actually
apart of a larger event called the Massillon Zombie Walk which is held once a year. Most everyone
dressed as a zombie. There was even a man who dressed as a Soviet spy zombie who made my night.
He walked down the sidewalk with an accordion, a hammer and sickle pin, and a giant fur hat. Other
zombies swarmed around him as I realized that I m pretty lucky to live in an area that treasures local
gatherings and celebrations.
The night began with a Thriller performance in front of the Massillon public library. About 20 or so
people performed the iconic dance as Michael Jackson s audio was played. The people who performed
managed to do a really good job recreating the dance moves we all know so well and they looked like
they had fun. The party moved down to the street beside the Massillon Museum where the stage was
waiting. After we arrived New Wave Nation ran onto the stage and performed Thriller again. Sadly the
lead singer of this band could not match MJ s awesome chops. It was cringe. All the high notes
sounded fuzzy and strained. The tempo seemed too slow. There was a tv screen behind them that
actually played the music video which managed to make their dancers incompetent. Weird sound
effects were added to the end of phrases and instruments were played along with the original audio.
I hoped with all my heart that they just hadn t warmed up, that it would get better but this was not

Microsoft Sql Database Management System
Introduction and Methodology
Microsoft SQL Database Administrator Database plays a major role in any organization. As a
Database administrator(DBA) he/she is responsible in developing, implementing and maintaining the
databases and DBA s are also responsible in updating, backup s and security of the databases. The first
Database Management System was developed in the late 1960 s by two firms based on their network
data model but in the early 1970 s a scientist of IBM introduced Relational database theory after six
years IBM completed prototype on RDBMS (relational database management system). Oracle created
the first versatile Relational Database Management Systems In 1983, which allowed organizations to
use their DBMS on different machines including mainframes, workstations, and Pc s. In 1993
Microsoft first created a database application called Access for Macintosh machines. Microsoft SQL
server is a RDBMS which is used to store and retrieve the data by other software applications. There
are 12 types of servers concentrated on various types of user s from single computer to large networks
(Microsoft SQL DBA). I have pursued my under graduation in Information Technology, during my
course work I was more interested in databases and I have developed special interest in making it as
my career. I have learned basics of all database concepts and I have attended extra tuitions and
seminars to get in depth knowledge about it. In the last semester of my master s program I

Abstract
This paper describes a deployed educational technology application: the CriterionSM Online Essay
Evaluation Service, a web based system that provides automated scoring and evaluation of student
essays. Criterion has two complementary applications: E rater®, an automated essay scoring system
and Critique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Work in automated essay scoring began in the early 1960 s and has been extremely productive (Page
1966; Burstein et al., 1998; Foltz, Kintsch, and Landauer 1998; Larkey 1998; Elliot 2003). Detailed
descriptions of these systems appear in Shermis and Burstein (2003). Pioneering work in automated
feedback was initiated in the 1980 s with the Writer s Workbench (MacDonald et al., 1982).
CriterionSM Online Essay Evaluation Service combines automated essay scoring and diagnostic
feedback. The feedback is specific to the student s essay and is based on the kinds of evaluations that
teachers typically provide when grading a student s writing. Criterion is intended to be an aid, not a
replacement, for classroom instruction. Its purpose is to ease the instructor s load, thereby enabling the
instructor to give students more practice writing essays.

Airport Security After September 11, 2001
September 11, 2001 is a date that will never be forgotten by Americans. On the morning of September
11, nineteen terrorists hijacked four airlines and killed 2996 people. Prior to this horrible day, security
was not a priority in airports. Terrorist have made transportation a main point of attack because it
plays such an important role in our economy. After the terrorist attacks, the airline industry made great
improvements. It is important for airline security to have tight regulations to ensure safety to all
passengers.
Before September 11, it was nearly impossible to detect the threats of the passengers. These threats
often include guns, knives, bombs and pathogens. There were few regulations to passenger
background checks. Each security check was done by private companies as opposed to the
Transportation Security Administration. Passengers were not patted down and did not remove their
shoes. Passengers were not required to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was obvious that a single passenger can be just as dangerous as a bomb. Therefore, airport security
made major changes to reinforce the safety of this nation. President Bush provided twenty billion
dollars to upgrade airline security. On November 19, 2001 Congress made the Aviation and
Transportation Security Act (ATSA). The ATSA made the Transportation Security Administration
(TSA). TSA was made in order to improve the security of airlines. The new improvements employed
almost 65,000 new employees and made airline security a top priority. Five million prohibited items
have been confiscated by the TSA. These items include 2.3 million knives and 49,331 box cutters,
which were the terrorists weapons of choice on September 11 (Taylor). Today, passengers need to be
searched, as well as their luggage. Passengers are limited to one carry on bag and are required to show
a government issued photo identification

Bad Relationships In Someone Like You
Causes of Bad Relationship
A bad relationship may develop without your notice. In the film Someone Like You , the most obvious
example is the relationship between Ray and Jane. The breakdown is not a sudden effect, but a gradual
development.
It all starts with the imbalance of giving. According to Cher Carter Scott, dangers arises when one
person gives too little in a relationship. In the movie, Jane invests everything, including her heart,
body (sex) and future life (cohabitation). However, Ray is the opposite. All he can give is the short
term excitement and passion. As Robert Solomon suggested, their desire mismatch leads to
coordination problem.
Their love at first sight relationship also lacks a strong foundation to overcome challenges. Applying
Robert Sternberg s triangular theory of love, Ray and Jane s form of love is Romantic Love (intimacy
+ passion). In their first meeting, they feel attracted to one another. Eventually intimacy grows and
they start dating. The process is filled with passion. However, Ray is not ready for commitment. He
never has a clear cut with Diane. Jane feels unsafe and uncertain as the triangular relationship
continues. The bond between Ray and Jane gets weaker day by day, such that any quarrels can break it
easily.
The key to further worsen the relationship is poor communication. Taking the case of cohabitation ...

Before Eddie and Jane turn into a couple, both of them are still suffering from their previous love
experience to a certain extent. Eddie acts as a playboy and sleeps around with girls for comfort. Jane
condemns all men and refuses to love again. On the surface, they seem okay. But in fact, their life is
not perfectly rebuilt yet. Scars remain and that hurts. A new partner acts as a support to heal the
wounds of one another. When both Eddie and Jane realize their feelings and get together, they can

Descriptive Essay On My Football Game
It s playable. It s just before the sand trap, I tell my opponent before walking up and switching places
with her. I tee up my ball and take a step back to look at my line. I position myself and the sound of
my club sweeping across the grass fills the air as I practice my swing. I wipe my sweaty palms on my
shorts to stop the club from slipping. Feeling confident I square myself up with the ball and ground
my feet into the short soft grass. I turn my shoulders, raise my club, and turn through my swing quick
as lightning, sending my drive straight down the fairway and right onto the green. Grinning I pick my
tee off from the ground and walk back to my clubs. I couldn t imagine a more perfect way to end my
round. I wait patiently as my opponent hits their ball right into the trees. You hit your ball out of
bounds so you re going to have to take a drop and a stroke penalty, I announced to my opponent as she
looked at me with a sense of cluelessness. After hitting another ball up the fairway I make my way to
my ball and line up my put. I m 10 feet out and I know that chance of making it is slim but if I make it
close enough I can easily putt for birdie. I keep my arms straight as I move my shoulder to my right
and then to my left gently but firmly, causing my ball to roll within a foot of the hole. Do you mind if I
finish? I question her. No it s fine I have to pick up anyway, she dejectedly told me as she hit eight
strokes to my two. Making sure I take a practice

Declaration Of Protest In The Name Of American Manhood...
During the time of the strike, more men were becoming unemployed and wages were steady dropping.
Samuel Gompers was a cigar maker at the time, then he became the president of the American
Federation of Labor, because of those reasons like those. In Samuel Gompers passage, A Declaration
of Protest in the Name of American Manhood (1925), he used the words American Manhood and what
he means by those words is simply the image that working men held and what defines those men in
America. In his writing he uses these words to express how important it was for a man in America
works and gets paid what he was owed for the work that he has done. To show how important this was
he wrote about the trouble that the men had to go through, such as living with those conditions,
protesting and becoming rebellious. In Samuel Gomper s writing, he was explaining how devastating
it was for men to be unemployed and not able to support their living, A feeling of desperation was
growing as week after week slipped by and still the unemployed had no dependable means of earning
a livelihood. Even though the men were already going through this, the decided to make things worse

Analysis Of Data Analysis
Our root node, which holds 100% of the sample, and average sleeping hour for mammals in the entire
sample is 10.4 hours. Then, our decision tree diverges to left (for condition being true, that is, is body
weight equal to or greater than 168?) One thing the data scientist should always to is to get an
assessment of how the chosen algorithm is performing, as far as accuracy is concerned. Different
packages and different methods often use different algorithms and it is important to understand how
source code makes the data behave so that we can better analyze, predict, model, and visualize our
data. It would be like knowing which port our ship has sailed to so we can expect to know when to

LAD is another statistical optimality criterion and the statistical optimization technique that relies on
it. Similar to other celebrity like optimization techniques, LAD aims to find a function which closely
approximate our data. Trimmed Mean: Involves the calculation of the mean after discarding given
parts of a probability distribution or sample at the high and low end, and typically discarding an equal
amount of both. This number of points to be discarded is usually given as a percentage of the total
number of points, but may also be given as a fixed number of points. Also known as Truncated Mean.
For classification trees, phi coefficient, Gini Index, or twoing are the most commonly used
approximation techniques. Phi Coefficient: Is a measure of association for two binary variables (n is
total number of observations). Gini Index: The Gini Index loss measures inequality or dispersion.
Another step data scientist should consider before finalizing his predictions on data, pruning the tree is
usually common approach, which I am going to cover in the next section 2.4 Tree Pruning Pruning is a
technique we use to reduce the size of decision trees by getting rid of sections of our tree that provide
little to no power for our classification. Pruning process helps us reduce the complexity of the
finalized classifier, hence providing a better and improved accuracy on our predictions. Since a

The Importance Of A Good Life
As a young adult, it is really difficult to define what a good life is. A Good life it s an expression that
is interpreted differently by every individual. However, my humanities class helped me clarify my
thoughts about how the term good life could be defined. A good life is living with ambition and
creating new experiences with the ones you love the most. For me, a good life not only consist of me
reaching my goals but it also lies on helping the people around me to reach their goals. Having the
right values and priorities complement a gratifying life. During this journey, I have learned that
analyzing several situations can lead to a great way of associating ideas and understanding certain
events that take place in my life. Medicine is a very rigorous field of study, therefore I must hold the
concept of a good life in order to achieve my goals and keep my priorities in the right order.
Humanities has been a great base for me to develop the right mindset to pursue my career. For
instance, the modules: The True Purpose of a Liberal Education, Morality and Ethics, Happiness,
Nature, and Life Affirmation, were the ones that made the most significant impact on my perspective
in life. In today s society, people are becoming accustomed to following the popular beliefs instead of
thinking in depth and forming their own opinions. In some cases, it is evident that some individuals
deviate away from the obvious which leads them to become unconsciously ignorant. In

Coconut Grove Fire
Cocoanut Grove
The Cocoanut Grove was a restaurant and supper club located in downtown Boston, Massachusetts.
The building was built in 1927 and was located near Park Square. The Grove, as it was called, had
been very popular during the late 1920 s, but had come across hard times during the 1930 s. In the
early years of World War II the restaurant became very popular again. In 1942, The Grove was the
popular place to be and where everyone liked to hang out. The building was a single story structure
with a basement below. A bar, called the Melody Lounge, occupied the basement as well as the
kitchen, freezers, and storage areas. Located on the first floor was a large dining room, a ballroom
with a bandstand, and several bar areas separate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Guests started heading for the only public exit from the Melody Lounge, which was a four foot wide
staircase that lead to the foyer on the first floor. Furnishings caught fire, and a wave of fire and toxic
gases spread across the room heading toward the stairway. Panic came over the crowd and attempts to
open the emergency door at the top of the stairs failed. The fire spread up the stairs and into the foyer
area, which contained the coat rooms, restrooms, and the main entrance. The panic continued as cries
of FIRE! FIRE! were shouted by patrons as the crowd raced toward the main entrance door. The first
few were able to exit through the revolving door, but as the mass of patrons slammed into the exit the
doors became jammed. People outside the building looked on as they watched their friends and
relatives get crushed by the crowd surging against the jammed door. The fire then spread to the dining
room where most of the guests where gathered together in anticipation of the start of the 10pm show.
It is estimated that more than 1000 people were inside the Grove at the time of the fire. Just as it
happened downstairs, panic overcame the crowd and guests tried to find the exits. Many of the exits
were locked shut or not easily noticeable. The blaze now had total control of the building and the
temperature inside was rising tremendously as were the levels of toxic gases. The streets in the area of
the Grove were small and

The Reverend Scoresby Identity
The Reverend claims the very best thing a man can have is to be born lucky. This is true based on his
interactions with Scoresby. Scoresby was a complete woodenhead, as the Reverend stated. However,
this woodenhead was so successful in the military despite the myriad amount of flaws he made. His
personality and knowledge were fraught with stupidity and ignorance but no one seemed to be aware
of this fact. They were all unconscious of Scoresby s fame in disguise. Throughout the story, Scoresby
s successes were just products of luck and this confirms why being born lucky is such a phenomenal
and miraculous thing to acquire. Although Scoresby did seem to be a genius during the
commencement of his popularity, the experiences the Reverend had soon exposed Scoresby s true
identity. During examinations, Scoresby was asked no questions beyond the narrow boundaries of his
knowledge. This indicates a hint towards luck since he received questions that he was already suitable
and confident with. In addition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sigh to buy an ensignship in Scoresby s regiment. Down went the colonel a while later. Inevitably,
Scoresby would be next in rank for this new position and it did become true. Luckily, after being
promoted, Scoresby s regiment went to the battlefield. During the battle, the regiment held a position
that was extremely vital. One solitary blunder would be destruction, according to the Reverend.
Ironically, at this crucial moment, Scoresby demanded a charge right through an open hill, where there
was no presence of another enemy. The Reverend confidentially affirmed that Scoresby s order would

During the early 1800s to the late 1900s, environmental protection and sustainable economic
development was the primary concern of most American citizen. Their concern over national
environmental and economic policy and its implementation gives birth to the progressive movement
after the American Civil War. The movement gained political roots in national and local politics and
strongly advocated for environmental and economic reform. Progressive movement activism increased

Bsw Culture
At Baylor Scott White Health (BSWH) at All Saints, we celebrated diversity week in June of this year.
The Café featured a meal from a different culture each day. Then, in the main atrium, a culture map
was hung with push pins available to mark the country of a person s heritage. Later, an employee
could choose to complete a puzzle related to diversity in health care. The completed puzzle could be
turned in to Human Resources (HR), and the employee would be entered in a drawing for a prize.
Another activity for the employees was Bingo. The card had quotes and trivia about diversity and
were handed to employees to complete. Once the card was finished, the card was turned into HR. At
that time, the employee was entered a drawing. Briefly, these activities demonstrate how BSWH at All
Saints is actively educating the staff and others in the different cultures surrounding our hospital. In
essence, the exercises focus on the positive aspects of the different cultural groups. This was a fun and
enjoyment way of learning about the cultural and traditions of different groups of people. The atrium

The Time is Night by Liudmila Petrushevskaya Essay
The Time is Night is a short novel by Liudmila Petrushevskaya. It is one of the few stories that I enjoy
reading over and over again. The reason is that each time I re read it, I perceive it in a slightly
different way. The complicity of characters and the style of the novel is what I would like to
emphasize most about the novel, as well as the fact that The Time is Night represents an outstanding
social awareness of the author.
As an introduction, Liudmila Petrushevskaya writes that what readers are about to see is a diary that
was sent to her by the daughter of the author of the diary after her mother s death. The notes that make
up the diary are those of a woman, a poet, describing her living during the late 1980 s, her children

because no one ever wished to listen to her or was able to understand her. This person was very lonely,
though in her diary she mentioned very many people. Most of them were as miserable as she was.
They did not play any role in her life, they just defined the atmosphere around her. It was the
atmosphere of the last years of the Soviet Union. Everybody s lives were gray and stagnant. Anna was
a smart woman, she needed to express herself which was totally impossible. All she had to do was
trying to make ends meet. This routine certainly made her personality duller. She realized that and the
only thing that made her move forward was her sense of humor that never let her down.
All the people she met on her way came and went leaving Anna alone with her beloved Baby and
sorrows. Baby was too small to understand her, he was childishly selfish and cruel but he was the only
person who still needed her. There was no one she loved more than him, she lived for him. She wanted
to share her thoughts with him and the only way for her was to write it, quot;My little sun! I have

The Great War Of 1914
You are listening to WBML 95.5 FM live broadcasting on your radio dial. I am Alice Jordan reporting
your evening news on the Great War of 1914. Woodrow Wilson was the 28th President of the United
States during World War one. The outbreak of the Great War of 1914, also known as World War I,
started with the assassination of Austria Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was shot to death by Gavrilo
Princip (Columbia Southern University, (CSU), n.d.). The Prime Minister of Great Britain during the
Great War was David George Lloyd (CSU, n.d.). World War1 was the very first modern and trench
war, as well as, the last war governed by European traditional Monarchies (CSU, n.d.). Also, World
War I created political dislodgments socially and economically that assisted in reshaping the
Americans life, even after Armistice Day (Faragher, Buhle, Czitrom, Armitage, 2009). The global
effect of World War I involving the U.S. in regards to other countries in the world remained profound
(Faragher, B, C, A, 2009). However, during the Great War on the home front, mixed reviews surfaced
concerning the war. Several groups feared for their love ones that were miles and miles away fighting

Persuasive Speech About Courage In Life
You finally get home from a long day at school. You through your backpack down carelessly and plop
yourself down in a chair ready to relax. Then, you realize that you can t rest and you have to finish the
history essay, the math worksheet, the spanish project, and the science notes. In high school, were so
busy with homework, projects, essays, and clubs that it s so hard to have fun and focus on our own
passions and what you like. In order to preserve, protect, and grow one s passion, an individual must
stay strong during times of hardship and doubt, focus on their own priorities, and to not get peer
pressured into doing something that isn t their passion.
One way to preserve, protect, and grow one s passion is to stay strong during times of hardship and
doubt. For example, Wes s hand is on my back now too. He says, You need to be strong for Erin. Be a
man. Okay? I nod because I m supposed to, but I feel like I m going to throw up again (Quick 174).
Even though Finley says that he wants to throw up inside, he knows that he has to stay strong for Erin.
One of his passions was Erin and being with her because she s one of the only things that Finley likes
in this town and she helps him get through his days and even his life. If he breaks down in front of her,
then what type of strength will she have after that? Another way we need to stay strong and keep our
passions is because of the direction our school programs have been taking. For example, Our

One of the first famous Hip Hop Deejays was Dj Kool Herc. He was an 18 year old Jamaican
immigrant who introduced huge sound systems of Jamaica to many parties in the city of New York.
He used two turn tables to blend percussion based beats with older songs and popular dance songs to
create a continuous flow of music. Along with Kool Herc other Deejays such as Grand Wizard
Theodore, Afrika Bambaataa, and Grandmaster Flash. These Deejays were also known for being the
first to isolate the break beat (the part of the song where there is just drums keeping the beat) to open
up the dance floor freestyle dancing. This later gained its title Break Dancing. Often time s contests

Pozdnyshev s Self-Knowledge And The Limitations Of Narrative
Pozdnyshev wife s life altered after bearing children beginning to develop independent hobbies, such
as playing the piano, which sparks Pozdnyshev s jealousy. Before taking up her hobbies, she brings a
notion to her husband that in the world, the only thing worthy of attention [is] love (Tolstoy 42). She
feels that she lacks love in her marriage, which results her to devote herself passionately to the piano,
which had formerly stood forgotten in the corner (Tolstoy 42) to make up for lost love. Afterwards,
their arguments became more intense, and Pozdnyshev becomes polluted by jealousy (Tolstoy 42)
once his wife s attention is no longer on him, knowing that he is losing control of the mastery of the
gaze. According to Jeanette Bicknell, the author of the scholarly article Self Knowledge and the
Limitations of Narrative, she views Pozdnyshev s ignorance of his own emotional states and unhappy
marriage could stem from a lack of self knowledge (Bicknell 409). He expresses his fear of losing the
mastery of the gaze through anger, stemming not from unhealthy attitudes toward sexuality, but from
his frustration at his inability to control his own desire, and at his inability of controlling his wife s
body (Bicknell 409). By getting angry with her for taking up hobbies, he doesn t see her as a human
being, but an object that always needs to be managed by him through the mastery of the gaze. Without
being able to control her, he loses grasp of the gaze, which results in

Australia s Asylum-Seeker Policy Analysis
What is the true cost of Australia s asylum seeker policies?
Australia s policies in regard to asylum seekers and refugee processing, are viewed as very
controversial, and often inhumane by the international community (Lock, Quenault Tomlinson 2002,
p.37). To discuss this policy, I will apply an external analysis. In order to decide whether this policy is
seen as good or bad, through a social, economic and human rights perspective.
The policy originated in 1992 where asylum seekers who arrive by boat to Australia, are permitted to
mandatory detention (Manne 2016). This policy expanded in 2001 to the Pacific Solution , where
those deemed unlawful citizens are to be kept in offshore mandatory detention in countries such as
Papua New Guinea, Manus Island and Nauru. However, the costs of this would be covered by the
Australian government (Henderson 2014, p.1163 1165). Because of this, numbers of asylum seekers
accepted into Australia significantly decreased (Lohana, Khaskhely, Khan, Razzaq 2016, p.175). Post
9 11 this idea was well supported as the perception arose that asylum seekers are queue jumpers , and
others even associating them as terrorists (Lock, Quenault Tomlinson 2002, p.39). People also
believed that boat arrivals were unworthy of resettlement, and would freeload off Australia welfare
and resources (Lohana, Khaskhely, Khan, Razzaq 2016 p.177).

The Importance Of Sea Temperature Anomalies
The oceans play an important role in the climate system owing to the interannual and longer timescale
variability in sea surface temperature (SST). Hasselmann (1976) proposed that this climate variability
could be represented by a stochastic first order auto regressive process
(AR1 process) and should be considered as the null hypothesis for extra tropical sea surface
temperature anomalies (SSTA). According to this concept, SSTAs quickly responds to the atmospheric
heat fluxes at short time period and the heat capacity of the ocean integrates the
SSTA variability on a longer time period. Frankignoul and Hasselmann (1977) have further suggested
that the atmospheric forcing for SST anomalies follows a spectrum of white noise with constant ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus the broad structure of the SSTA spectrum is determined by the depth of the ocean ML and
atmospheric process.
Attempts to include additional processes, such as Ekman transport, entrainment of sub mixed layer
thermal anomalies (Dommenget and Latif 2002; Deser et al. 2003; Lee et al. 2008), state dependent
noise (Sura et al. 2005) and the re emergence associated with seasonal change in MLD (Schneider and
Cornuelle 2005) has shown to increase the SSTA variance at annual and longer timescales. However,
studies have demonstrated that the SST variability at some part of the oceans cannot be represented by
a simple AR1 process (Hall and Manabe
1997; Dommenget and Latif 2002, 2008). The inconsistency arises from the exchange of heat energy
in the mixed layer and sub mixed layer in the ocean.
The strong seasonal cycle of the MLD can strengthen the persistence of SSTA from one winter to the
following. The timescale in which the subsurface temperature anomalies entrain to the surface (nearly
1 year) is expected to influence the spectral variance of SSTA. Möller et al. (2008) have shown a peak
in the annual time period in the power spectrum of midlatitude
SSTA that is associated with the re emergence. Figure 5.3 illustrates the power spectrum of
SSTA and 90% significance level (shaded), presented in different ways (taken from Moller et al.
(2008)). Figure 5.3a express the spectral variance density, while figure 5.3b

The Effects Of Maternal Behavior On Mother Rats Essay
Two scholarly articles compared the different effects maternal behavior can have on mother rats later
on in their lifetime. A maternal behavior can be defined as an act of love and caring toward one s
young (2012). Memory, and the rats ability to learn a response were tested through two different
experiments. Learning was tested by a classical conditioning approach. Classical condition was first
discovered by Ivan Pavlov. The overall concept of classical conditioning is when a response is elicited
by a stimulus (Huitt Hummel, 1997). On the other hand, both articles studied rats with varying degrees
of maternal experience. Comparatively, rats estrogen cycles were tested in both articles. Overall, there
are five stages: proestrus, estrus, metestrus, diestrus, and anestrus. In rats, each cycle lasts about four
to five days in length. Unlike humans, rats reach puberty at only six to eight weeks old (Hill, 2016).
Twain articles were compared through a comparative analysis.
In the article Once a Mother Always a Mother: Maternal Experience Protects Females from the
Negative Effects of Stress on Learning, the researchers tested whether maternal rat behavior has a
lasting effect on learning due to stress with virgin and parous rats. The parous had already given birth
to at least one litter of pups. Throughout the experiment, the parous rats were not taking care of their
young or lactating. For this experiment, the independent variable was stress and maternal experience.

Compare And Contrast Hrothgar And Beowulf
The epic poem Beowulf translated by Seamus Heaney, presents two heroic kings that have very clear
differences on how they overcome challenges but they still keep their people in safe keepings.
Hrothgar and Beowulf are admired by their people because they both show strong characteristics of
what an Anglo Saxon king should do or be.
The king of Danes, Hrothgar, was first introduced as an accomplished and wise king. He comes to be
well known as a young king when he protected Beowulf s now departed father, Ecgtheow. Hrothgar
wergild peace with Ecgtheow s enemies so that the bloody feud would end. With Hrothgar doing this
generous deed to help Ecgtheow and his kingdom out Beowulf devotes his assistance in the beginning
of the poem. One thing that makes Hrothgar a good king is that he always seems to stay true to his
word, as is told at the beginning, the king kept well his pledge and promise to deal out gifts, rings at
the banquet (53 55). It was clear that Hrothgar was an exceptional military leader with his bravery and
strength but he is aged now and cannot fight the same as he used to. The Danes are then faced with an
evil and wicked monster, Grendel, who terrorizes his realm. Beowulf asks Hrothgar if he could fight
this battle for him to pay back his family debt and Hrothgar agreed. Hrothgar makes a promise to
reward Beowulf if he succeeds in killing the monster Grendel. He says, For his gallant courage I ll

Citizen Kane Cinematography Analysis
The film Citizen Kane uses stylistic cinematography techniques that help stress both material presence
and textual representation. One of the main techniques used throughout the film is deep focus which
usually makes everything that s in the frame of the shot relevant. This deep focus contributes toward
the viewing of the film as presence and also representation. For example, one could think of the broad
and self conscious use of deep focus...as an attempt to present images that are purely and fully
presence, presenting themselves to the view in their fullness without any added meaning or
interpretation. (commentary) or the deep focus can be looked at as an interpretative point of view.

Charles Kane but never picking up a genuine comprehension of the main chararcter, yet rather a
variety of viewpoints. These techniques stress textual representation in the film. The mother and Mr.

Thinking about suffering is pretty frightening, now the minimum event that occurs to someone people
call it suffering, but have you thought of how this was even worse in the past with racism, economic
problems, and human experimental discoveries? In The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca
Skloot a lot of central ideas are being formed, and one of them is suffering. Suffering is illustrated in
Henrietta, Deborah, and Day. First of all, this central idea is formed in Henrietta being used for
experiments and with her illness. In page forty two Skloot states, Henrietta knew nothing about her

Speech On Molecular Gastronomy
I What is molecular gastronomy?
A Definition
Ice sphere cocktails, grenadine sirop caviar and disappearing transparent raviolis are all examples of
Molecular gastronomy. This discipline is a mixture of physics and chemistry and is used to transform
the taste and the texture of food. We commonly use the term Molecular Gastronomy in order to
describe a new style of cuisine. Chefs now use tools from the science laboratory, and unusual
ingredients from the food industry to expend their culinary possibilities. Officially, it is the scientific
discipline that explains the chemical and physical transformations and mechanisms that occur while
cooking. It also studies the social, artistic and technical side of gastronomy.

Constantine also saw this as a sign from God. Constantine continually said that his success was from
his conversion to Christianity and the support of God. His devotion to Christianity was closely
associated with this rise to power.
What did he do for the Christian Religion?:
Constantine was credited for converting the Roman Empire to Christianity. Along with the Eastern
Roman Emperor Gaius Valerius Licinianus Licinius Augustus (better known as Licinius I) signed the
Edict of Milan, which ensured religious tolerance for Christians. The signing of the Edict of Milan
gave freedom of worship to all, and brought an end to the Age of Martyrs and ended the persecution of
Christianity. Constantine helped convene and took part in the first meetings of Christian Churches,
known as the Council of Nicea. The council of Nicea established equality of the Father and Son. He
initiated the evolution of the empire into a Christian state. He provided the impulse for a distinctively
Christian culture and prepared the way for the growing of Byzantine and Western medieval culture.
After his victory the battle of Tiber River s Mulvian Bridge, Constantine was considered the dominant
figure in the empire. In this position Constantine ordered Maximinus II Dais to cease his subjugation
of the Christians.
Sometimes it was debated whether he was the first Christian emperor at all. The religion he did have

Leader Member Exchange Theory, also called LMX or Vertical Dyad Linkage Theory, describes how

Compare And Contrast In Another Country And Ambush

are similar. To get a clear aspect of what both texts look at, Hemingway writes about a short story that
is based on the impacts of World War I on soldiers. The short story mainly focuses on how these
particular soldiers experienced the traumatic event of having to participate in the war which was both
psychologically and physically harmful to them. In Ambush O Brien narrates from a first person

regret and also to contemplate on what would have happened if things were to happen differently. The
two stories were both similar in their story line which was about war. However, the main themes in
both stories differ. While one explores World War 1 and the effects it had on the soldiers who played a

Mog went to check up on his father s well being, however, he was informed by that his father had just
passed. Mog could only think of how disrespectfully he treated his father. He knew he had to think of
a way to make it up to his dad. After hours of thinking, while he found at his new house with one of
the other tribe members, he came up with the solution. He would play lacrosse, just as his dad wanted
him to do.
The next day, he sent a letter to lacrosse travel team, Team 92 Lacrosse, that he would like to be part
of their team. He soon received a letter saying that tryouts were in 7 weeks. Mog knew he needed to

was his dream for Mog to make the team, so that became his mission. Day after day, Mog practiced

Abstract
Three new hydrazone ligands, H2L1, H2L2 and H4L3, were prepared by condensation of 4,6 bis(1
hydrazonoethyl)benzene 1,3 diol with furan 2 carboxaldehyde, thiophene 2 carboxaldehyde and 1H
pyrrole 2 carboxaldehyde, respectively. The ligands reacted with copper(II), nickel(II), cobalt(II),
zinc(II), cadmium(II) and dioxouranium(VI) ions, to yield binuclear complexes formulated as
[(L)M2(OAc)2(H2O)n(EtOH)m]xH2OyEtOH where L = L1 or L2; M = Cu, Ni, Co, Zn or Cd; n = nil,
1 or 4; m, x and y = nil or 1, [(H2L2)Cd2(OAc)4(H2O)2]EtOH, [(L)(UO2)2(OAc)2(H2O)2Y2]nH2O
where L = L1 or L2; Y = nil or H2O; n = 2.5 or 7, [(L3)M2(H2O)6]nH2O where M = Cu or Zn; n = 1
or 6, [(L3)(UO2)2(H2O)4]2.5H2O and dimeric complexes; [(L1)2Ni2]3H2O and [(H2L3)2M2]nH2O
where M = Ni or Co; n = 1.5 or 3. The ligands and their metal complexes were characterized by
elemental analyses, IR, 1H and 13C NMR, electronic, ESR and mass spectra, conductivity, magnetic
susceptibility measurements and powder XRD as well as thermal analyses. The coordinating sites are
phenolic oxygens, azomethine nitrogens and the hetero O/N/S atoms. Octahedral, tetrahedral and

Similarities And Differences In Dogsong
Dogsong by Gary Paulsen is a very enjoyable book. This book follows a 14 year old eskimo boy name
Russel Susskit. He lives with his dad in a village in the winter. During the summer they live in fish
camps together. Russels mother had abandoned him and his father years ago. Russel has a lot of
questions about life that he hasn t had answered yet. Every day is about the same for the village and
Russel, he wakes up to his dad coughing and the smell of diesel fuel. One day when Russel tells his
dad his opinion about snowmobiles his dad sends him to talk to a village elder named, Oogruk.
Oogruk is a wise, blind, man in the village and he knows the old ways of the eskimo people and how it

I would like to have some of his qualities, but I don t, yet. Oogruk is an old, blind, wise man. These
are just a couple of differences between us. I m not old, yet, i m not blind, and i m not wise, yet. These
are all things that Oogruk has but not me. Some other differences are that he is an eskimo, he lives in
government owned houses in a village, and he is a shaman. Some similarities are that we both think
that the old eskimo ways are good, and we both like to see beautiful things. I think that the older
eskimo ways were good, because it seem more interactive, and it seemed like it brought people closer
together. Before Russel goes on his journey Oogruk asks him to bring him out to the frozen ocean and
that is something I would want to see in

The Philosophy Of Social Science
Hollis expresses his intention to explore the philosophy of social science of which he categorises into
four modes. He attempted to seek for the acceptable compromises between all and each mode to
define a better way of understanding the social world. Hollis clearly states that the key task of this
book is to reflect on the underlying philosophy of social science through the critical examination of
the theory and methodology in each approach. Some of the key questions are; whether the study of
social science can use the same method as in natural science, does structure determine an action or
does action determines structure in the process of social changes, and is there such a thing as the
universal strategy to help social scientists in understanding the way of the world. The main theme
focuses on Explanation and Understanding with the minor theme of Holism and Individualism. The
book initially gives the impression that each social study approach has its strength and weakness that
the combination of approaches would be beneficial and worth pursuing.
Hollis starts off with the introduction of Structure and Action. The comparative framework is set out
by the two social scientists who employ two different principles; Karl Marx and John Stuart Mills.
Determinism is then introduced to further illuminate the difference between these two theories. Hollis
also provides readers with the fundamental feature of Explanation and Understanding. The
comparison represented through the

The Most Valuable Mechanisms Designed During The Late 1800...
Abstract
The Kinetoscope was one most valuable mechanisms designed in the late 1800 s. This remarkable
invention opened doors for the way that visuals and sound are produced in movies and television
today. However, it is unclear who actually gets credit for the Invention. This paper will enlighten you
on the accomplishments of many great inventors. You will be educated on how this device came
about. It will also unravel the mystery behind who should actually get credit for the Kinetoscope.
Introduction A common luxury in America today is television and movies, but have you ever
wondered how visual entertainment on screen began? Since the late 1800 s the way we view things in
cinema has changed profoundly. Living in the 21st Century, in which is the digital revolution, we no
longer have to leave our homes to see a movie or event. How did it all start? Who came up with the
idea? Who built the first camera? How did it have an impact on cinema today? Credit must be given to
an early motion picture device called the Kinetoscope, which set the standard for all cinematic
projections that we have today.
The Idea that Impacted Cinema
Thomas Edison, one of the greatest inventors known to man, came up with an idea to make an
instrument which does for the eye what the Phonograph has done for the ear. The Phonograph records
and reproduces things in motion and that is what Edison wanted for the Kinetoscope. In October 1888
Edison started organizing this invention. He

Implementing A Job Rotation Program Within An Organization...
Zachary Golden
Final Paper Outline
Abstract The focus of this study is the benefits gained by implementing a job rotation program within
an organization and the advantages gained by the employees and employer. There are four key areas
that can be affect by job rotation:orienting new employees, training employees, enhancing career
development and preventing job boredom. In this study, I propose that incorporating a well planned
job rotation schedule not only improves the productivity of an organization, but also increases the
overall job satisfaction of employees.
Organizational Description Job rotation is an approach to employee development, where a person is
developed through a scheduled rotation through tasks in order give the widest exposure to the entire
operation. It is also practiced, so that qualified employees are provided more insight into a company s
processes, and to reduce employee burnout and increase job satisfaction through varying work to
provide new challenges. At the most senior levels, job rotation or management rotation, is closely
linked with developing specific people to step into an existing job. In this situation the goal is to
provide learning experiences and position prospective managers in area that allow them assume a
higher level position in the future. While this practice is important to the growth of management in a
business, this study will focus primarily on the rotation of junior management and workers. Job
rotation involves the

The Innocence Of Simple Observation
In particular, Krishnamurti emphasizes that In all spiritual matters, there must be and should be no
authority whatsoever because you cannot be free, to investigate, to find out for yourself what
meditation means if you are under the influence of an authority (What is Meditation (Truth and
Actuality) 1968). By the word investigate, he means observation. It is only in the process of
observation that we can learn the reality of what is. In the innocence of simple observation there can
be no judgement or holding to anything that is seen. In pure observation which Krishnamurti also
terms as choiceless awareness (Beyond Myth and Tradition Series 1997) he suggests that when we
have brought the past into the now and the end of that past is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The double slit experiment demonstrates that the observation of a system will alter the final product to
be particles or waves if no observation takes place a wave pattern is revealed; if observation takes
place these same objects exhibit the behavior of point particles. When fully matured observation of the
movement of life increases our level of awareness and perception which allows for the natural
transcending of the senses and the intellectual mind to bring us to the direct experience of the Self
which is always in the transcendent. In the transcendent we realize that the observer has become the
observed, the two are united in One, the Self. According to Krishnamurti, to transcend is by choiceless
awareness (Beyond Myth and Tradition Series 1997) which allows the mind to be free of all its total
content so that we empty the known and from that emptiness...is something most holy, which is the
whole movement of meditation, then life then has a totally different meaning (What is Meditation
(Truth and Actuality) 1968). What Krishnamurti appears to be suggesting is that to live in a permanent
state of transcendence there is no need to study books on self improvement or to self program one s
self or be confined within the practice of regular meditation for the transcendent power of innocent
observation is enough to unite us with the Self. Observation, according to Krishnamurti

Cancellation of the Constellation Program Will Benefit the...
NASA has been in the business of sending men and materials into space for more than fifty years.
With the introduction of the space shuttle in 1980, however, it has essentially become a transport and
shipping company rather than an organization responsible for developing modern technologies to take
Americans to Mars and beyond. The space shuttle was a tremendous technological achievement that
enabled NASA to send millions of tons of cargo and equipment into low Earth obit, but its successor,
the Constellation Program, which relies on rockets and crew capsules much like NASA s early space
programs, represents a step backward in space exploration vehicle design ( Propulsion Systems ,
2003). At this critical time in the American space ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NASA would no longer function as a delivery company. It would resume its original vision to explore
the Universe and search for new life, and to inspire the next generation of explorers ( NASA Mission ,
2009).
NASA could be relieved of the routine task of sending astronauts and cargo into space by encouraging
private companies to develop the next generation of traditional rockets. Companies, such as Boeing,
would be able to do the job more efficiently and at a much lower cost than NASA could (Johnsson,
2010). NASA would be able to commission private companies to build rockets that would suit a
particular need much like the various branches of the military do for their own vehicles.
Once routine, commercial space flights become commonplace, NASA would be free to develop the
next generation of space exploration vehicles, which would most likely be based on plasma propulsion
technology ( Propulsion Systems , 2003). All of NASA s manpower and funding could be directed
towards researching and perfecting these new systems which would allow man to travel to distant
worlds at speeds much greater than is possible today.
Although some may be troubled by the idea of NASA eliminating its current manned space program,
the benefits are likely to become more apparent in time. By focusing on the future of space travel,
NASA will be able to develop programs

  • 2. Downtown Massillon On October 14 I attended a New Wave concert in Downtown Massillon. This concert was actually apart of a larger event called the Massillon Zombie Walk which is held once a year. Most everyone dressed as a zombie. There was even a man who dressed as a Soviet spy zombie who made my night. He walked down the sidewalk with an accordion, a hammer and sickle pin, and a giant fur hat. Other zombies swarmed around him as I realized that I m pretty lucky to live in an area that treasures local gatherings and celebrations. The night began with a Thriller performance in front of the Massillon public library. About 20 or so people performed the iconic dance as Michael Jackson s audio was played. The people who performed managed to do a really good job recreating the dance moves we all know so well and they looked like they had fun. The party moved down to the street beside the Massillon Museum where the stage was waiting. After we arrived New Wave Nation ran onto the stage and performed Thriller again. Sadly the lead singer of this band could not match MJ s awesome chops. It was cringe. All the high notes sounded fuzzy and strained. The tempo seemed too slow. There was a tv screen behind them that actually played the music video which managed to make their dancers incompetent. Weird sound effects were added to the end of phrases and instruments were played along with the original audio. As a Database administrator(DBA) he/she is responsible in developing, implementing and maintaining the databases and DBA s are also responsible in updating, backup s and security of the databases. The first Database Management System was developed in the late 1960 s by two firms based on their network data model but in the early 1970 s a scientist of IBM introduced Relational database theory after six years IBM completed prototype on RDBMS (relational database management system). Oracle created the first versatile Relational Database Management Systems In 1983, which allowed organizations to use their DBMS on different machines including mainframes, workstations, and Pc s. In 1993 Microsoft first created a database application called Access for Macintosh machines. Microsoft SQL server is a RDBMS which is used to store and retrieve the data by other software applications. There are 12 types of servers concentrated on various types of user s from single computer to large networks (Microsoft SQL DBA). On the morning of September 11, nineteen terrorists hijacked four airlines and killed 2996 people. Prior to this horrible day, security was not a priority in airports. Terrorist have made transportation a main point of attack because it plays such an important role in our economy. After the terrorist attacks, the airline industry made great improvements. It is important for airline security to have tight regulations to ensure safety to all passengers. Before September 11, it was nearly impossible to detect the threats of the passengers. These threats often include guns, knives, bombs and pathogens. There were few regulations to passenger background checks. • 6. Bad Relationships In Someone Like You Causes of Bad Relationship A bad relationship may develop without your notice. In the film Someone Like You , the most obvious example is the relationship between Ray and Jane. The breakdown is not a sudden effect, but a gradual development. It all starts with the imbalance of giving. According to Cher Carter Scott, dangers arises when one person gives too little in a relationship. In the movie, Jane invests everything, including her heart, body (sex) and future life (cohabitation). However, Ray is the opposite. All he can give is the short term excitement and passion. As Robert Solomon suggested, their desire mismatch leads to coordination problem. Their love at first sight relationship also lacks a strong foundation to overcome challenges. Applying Robert Sternberg s triangular theory of love, Ray and Jane s form of love is Romantic Love (intimacy + passion). In their first meeting, they feel attracted to one another. Eventually intimacy grows and they start dating. The process is filled with passion. However, Ray is not ready for commitment. He never has a clear cut with Diane. Jane feels unsafe and uncertain as the triangular relationship continues. The bond between Ray and Jane gets weaker day by day, such that any quarrels can break it easily. The key to further worsen the relationship is poor communication. Taking the case of cohabitation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I tee up my ball and take a step back to look at my line. I position myself and the sound of my club sweeping across the grass fills the air as I practice my swing. I wipe my sweaty palms on my shorts to stop the club from slipping. Feeling confident I square myself up with the ball and ground my feet into the short soft grass. I turn my shoulders, raise my club, and turn through my swing quick as lightning, sending my drive straight down the fairway and right onto the green. Grinning I pick my tee off from the ground and walk back to my clubs. I couldn t imagine a more perfect way to end my round. I wait patiently as my opponent hits their ball right into the trees. You hit your ball out of bounds so you re going to have to take a drop and a stroke penalty, I announced to my opponent as she looked at me with a sense of cluelessness. After hitting another ball up the fairway I make my way to my ball and line up my put. I m 10 feet out and I know that chance of making it is slim but if I make it close enough I can easily putt for birdie. I keep my arms straight as I move my shoulder to my right and then to my left gently but firmly, causing my ball to roll within a foot of the hole. Do you mind if I finish? I question her. In Samuel Gompers passage, A Declaration of Protest in the Name of American Manhood (1925), he used the words American Manhood and what he means by those words is simply the image that working men held and what defines those men in America. In his writing he uses these words to express how important it was for a man in America works and gets paid what he was owed for the work that he has done. • 23. Australia s Asylum-Seeker Policy Analysis What is the true cost of Australia s asylum seeker policies? Australia s policies in regard to asylum seekers and refugee processing, are viewed as very controversial, and often inhumane by the international community (Lock, Quenault Tomlinson 2002, p.37). To discuss this policy, I will apply an external analysis. In order to decide whether this policy is seen as good or bad, through a social, economic and human rights perspective. The policy originated in 1992 where asylum seekers who arrive by boat to Australia, are permitted to mandatory detention (Manne 2016). This policy expanded in 2001 to the Pacific Solution , where those deemed unlawful citizens are to be kept in offshore mandatory detention in countries such as Papua New Guinea, Manus Island and Nauru. However, the costs of this would be covered by the Australian government (Henderson 2014, p.1163 1165). Because of this, numbers of asylum seekers accepted into Australia significantly decreased (Lohana, Khaskhely, Khan, Razzaq 2016, p.175). Post 9 11 this idea was well supported as the perception arose that asylum seekers are queue jumpers , and others even associating them as terrorists (Lock, Quenault Tomlinson 2002, p.39). According to this concept, SSTAs quickly responds to the atmospheric heat fluxes at short time period and the heat capacity of the ocean integrates the SSTA variability on a longer time period. However, studies have demonstrated that the SST variability at some part of the oceans cannot be represented by a simple AR1 process (Hall and Manabe 1997; Dommenget and Latif 2002, 2008). The inconsistency arises from the exchange of heat energy in the mixed layer and sub mixed layer in the ocean. The strong seasonal cycle of the MLD can strengthen the persistence of SSTA from one winter to the following. The timescale in which the subsurface temperature anomalies entrain to the surface (nearly 1 year) is expected to influence the spectral variance of SSTA. Möller et al. (2008) have shown a peak in the annual time period in the power spectrum of midlatitude SSTA that is associated with the re emergence. Figure 5.3 illustrates the power spectrum of SSTA and 90% significance level (shaded), presented in different ways (taken from Moller et al. (2008)). • 25. The Effects Of Maternal Behavior On Mother Rats Essay Two scholarly articles compared the different effects maternal behavior can have on mother rats later on in their lifetime. A maternal behavior can be defined as an act of love and caring toward one s young (2012). Memory, and the rats ability to learn a response were tested through two different experiments. Learning was tested by a classical conditioning approach. Classical condition was first discovered by Ivan Pavlov. The overall concept of classical conditioning is when a response is elicited by a stimulus (Huitt Hummel, 1997). On the other hand, both articles studied rats with varying degrees of maternal experience. Comparatively, rats estrogen cycles were tested in both articles. Overall, there are five stages: proestrus, estrus, metestrus, diestrus, and anestrus. In rats, each cycle lasts about four to five days in length. Unlike humans, rats reach puberty at only six to eight weeks old (Hill, 2016). Twain articles were compared through a comparative analysis. In the article Once a Mother Always a Mother: Maternal Experience Protects Females from the Negative Effects of Stress on Learning, the researchers tested whether maternal rat behavior has a lasting effect on learning due to stress with virgin and parous rats. The parous had already given birth to at least one litter of pups. Throughout the experiment, the parous rats were not taking care of their young or lactating. For this experiment, the independent variable was stress and maternal experience. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast Hrothgar And Beowulf The epic poem Beowulf translated by Seamus Heaney, presents two heroic kings that have very clear differences on how they overcome challenges but they still keep their people in safe keepings. Hrothgar and Beowulf are admired by their people because they both show strong characteristics of what an Anglo Saxon king should do or be. The king of Danes, Hrothgar, was first introduced as an accomplished and wise king. He comes to be well known as a young king when he protected Beowulf s now departed father, Ecgtheow. Hrothgar wergild peace with Ecgtheow s enemies so that the bloody feud would end. With Hrothgar doing this generous deed to help Ecgtheow and his kingdom out Beowulf devotes his assistance in the beginning of the poem. One thing that makes Hrothgar a good king is that he always seems to stay true to his word, as is told at the beginning, the king kept well his pledge and promise to deal out gifts, rings at the banquet (53 55). It was clear that Hrothgar was an exceptional military leader with his bravery and strength but he is aged now and cannot fight the same as he used to. The Danes are then faced with an evil and wicked monster, Grendel, who terrorizes his realm. Beowulf asks Hrothgar if he could fight this battle for him to pay back his family debt and Hrothgar agreed. Hrothgar makes a promise to reward Beowulf if he succeeds in killing the monster Grendel. • 27. Citizen Kane Cinematography Analysis The film Citizen Kane uses stylistic cinematography techniques that help stress both material presence and textual representation. One of the main techniques used throughout the film is deep focus which usually makes everything that s in the frame of the shot relevant. This deep focus contributes toward the viewing of the film as presence and also representation. For example, one could think of the broad and self conscious use of deep focus...as an attempt to present images that are purely and fully presence, presenting themselves to the view in their fullness without any added meaning or interpretation. Amidst the shot is Kane, who is out of sight but still visible in the background through the window, and on the left hand side is the father, who is standing, trying to declare his power but is unsuccessful at each endeavor. The situating of the characters is intentional, Charles is in the center in light of the fact that he s the focal point of the dialog. The cinematography in this film seems to be taking a look through a window into the life of Charles Kane but never picking up a genuine comprehension of the main chararcter, yet rather a variety of viewpoints. In The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot a lot of central ideas are being formed, and one of them is suffering. Suffering is illustrated in Henrietta, Deborah, and Day. First of all, this central idea is formed in Henrietta being used for experiments and with her illness. In page forty two Skloot states, Henrietta knew nothing about her cells growing in laboratory. He attempted to seek for the acceptable compromises between all and each mode to define a better way of understanding the social world. Hollis clearly states that the key task of this book is to reflect on the underlying philosophy of social science through the critical examination of the theory and methodology in each approach. Some of the key questions are; whether the study of social science can use the same method as in natural science, does structure determine an action or does action determines structure in the process of social changes, and is there such a thing as the universal strategy to help social scientists in understanding the way of the world. The main theme focuses on Explanation and Understanding with the minor theme of Holism and Individualism. The book initially gives the impression that each social study approach has its strength and weakness that the combination of approaches would be beneficial and worth pursuing. Hollis starts off with the introduction of Structure and Action. The comparative framework is set out by the two social scientists who employ two different principles; Karl Marx and John Stuart Mills. This remarkable invention opened doors for the way that visuals and sound are produced in movies and television today. However, it is unclear who actually gets credit for the Invention. This paper will enlighten you on the accomplishments of many great inventors. You will be educated on how this device came about. It will also unravel the mystery behind who should actually get credit for the Kinetoscope. Introduction A common luxury in America today is television and movies, but have you ever wondered how visual entertainment on screen began? Since the late 1800 s the way we view things in cinema has changed profoundly. Living in the 21st Century, in which is the digital revolution, we no longer have to leave our homes to see a movie or event. How did it all start? Who came up with the idea? Who built the first camera? How did it have an impact on cinema today? Credit must be given to an early motion picture device called the Kinetoscope, which set the standard for all cinematic projections that we have today. The Idea that Impacted Cinema Thomas Edison, one of the greatest inventors known to man, came up with an idea to make an instrument which does for the eye what the Phonograph has done for the ear. Zachary Golden Final Paper Outline Abstract The focus of this study is the benefits gained by implementing a job rotation program within an organization and the advantages gained by the employees and employer. There are four key areas that can be affect by job rotation:orienting new employees, training employees, enhancing career development and preventing job boredom. In this study, I propose that incorporating a well planned job rotation schedule not only improves the productivity of an organization, but also increases the overall job satisfaction of employees. Organizational Description Job rotation is an approach to employee development, where a person is developed through a scheduled rotation through tasks in order give the widest exposure to the entire operation. It is also practiced, so that qualified employees are provided more insight into a company s processes, and to reduce employee burnout and increase job satisfaction through varying work to provide new challenges. At the most senior levels, job rotation or management rotation, is closely linked with developing specific people to step into an existing job. In this situation the goal is to provide learning experiences and position prospective managers in area that allow them assume a higher level position in the future. While this practice is important to the growth of management in a business, this study will focus primarily on the rotation of junior management and workers. Job rotation involves the ... • 47. The Innocence Of Simple Observation In particular, Krishnamurti emphasizes that In all spiritual matters, there must be and should be no authority whatsoever because you cannot be free, to investigate, to find out for yourself what meditation means if you are under the influence of an authority (What is Meditation (Truth and Actuality) 1968). By the word investigate, he means observation. It is only in the process of observation that we can learn the reality of what is. In the innocence of simple observation there can be no judgement or holding to anything that is seen. In pure observation which Krishnamurti also terms as choiceless awareness (Beyond Myth and Tradition Series 1997) he suggests that when we have brought the past into the now and the end of that past is ... The double slit experiment demonstrates that the observation of a system will alter the final product to be particles or waves if no observation takes place a wave pattern is revealed; if observation takes place these same objects exhibit the behavior of point particles. When fully matured observation of the movement of life increases our level of awareness and perception which allows for the natural transcending of the senses and the intellectual mind to bring us to the direct experience of the Self which is always in the transcendent. In the transcendent we realize that the observer has become the observed, the two are united in One, the Self. According to Krishnamurti, to transcend is by choiceless awareness (Beyond Myth and Tradition Series 1997) which allows the mind to be free of all its total content so that we empty the known and from that emptiness...is something most holy, which is the whole movement of meditation, then life then has a totally different meaning (What is Meditation (Truth and Actuality) 1968). What Krishnamurti appears to be suggesting is that to live in a permanent state of transcendence there is no need to study books on self improvement or to self program one s self or be confined within the practice of regular meditation for the transcendent power of innocent observation is enough to unite us with the Self. Observation, according to Krishnamurti ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Cancellation of the Constellation Program Will Benefit the... NASA has been in the business of sending men and materials into space for more than fifty years. With the introduction of the space shuttle in 1980, however, it has essentially become a transport and shipping company rather than an organization responsible for developing modern technologies to take Americans to Mars and beyond. The space shuttle was a tremendous technological achievement that enabled NASA to send millions of tons of cargo and equipment into low Earth obit, but its successor, the Constellation Program, which relies on rockets and crew capsules much like NASA s early space programs, represents a step backward in space exploration vehicle design ( Propulsion Systems , 2003). At this critical time in the American space ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... NASA would no longer function as a delivery company. It would resume its original vision to explore the Universe and search for new life, and to inspire the next generation of explorers ( NASA Mission , 2009). NASA could be relieved of the routine task of sending astronauts and cargo into space by encouraging private companies to develop the next generation of traditional rockets. Companies, such as Boeing, would be able to do the job more efficiently and at a much lower cost than NASA could (Johnsson, 2010). NASA would be able to commission private companies to build rockets that would suit a particular need much like the various branches of the military do for their own vehicles. Once routine, commercial space flights become commonplace, NASA would be free to develop the next generation of space exploration vehicles, which would most likely be based on plasma propulsion technology ( Propulsion Systems , 2003). All of NASA s manpower and funding could be directed towards researching and perfecting these new systems which would allow man to travel to distant worlds at speeds much greater than is possible today. Although some may be troubled by the idea of NASA eliminating its current manned space program, the benefits are likely to become more apparent in time. By focusing on the future of space travel, NASA will be able to develop programs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
