Papal Infallibility Of The Catholic Church
The Catholic Church is One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. The church is Apostolic for a variety of
reasons. Without this mark of the Church, there would be no church officials responsible for
continuing the works of Jesus Christ and the twelve Apostles. Being Apostolic allows the church to
pass authority to its leaders, and teachings on from generation to generation. The Catholic Church is
Apostolic, and many of its attributes are related or reflect this mark of the Church. The word apostolic
means of or relating to the apostles, or in some cases of or relating to the pope, because he is the
successor of Saint Peter. The Church is apostolic because it was founded by the apostles who were
chosen by Christ and sent on a mission by Him. Another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Domestic church includes family, and local parish. Family is a community of love, hope, and
faith. The domestic church relates to the church being Apostolic because your parents, who are the
first source of religion, use the teachings of the Bishops to introduce you to a life of faith. Parents pass
down the knowledge that the bishops pass down, to their children in order to peak an interest in God
and Religion. It fits into the Parish and Particular church because a parish is a community and is
considered an extended family, to all people a part of it. The Apostolate is the call for all Catholics to
be Apostles. Through the Apostolate, we are called to be missionaries, evangelizing through our
actions of love rather than

Role Of Boxer In Animal Farm
The allegorical novella, titled Animal Farm, was written by George Orwell, and expresses the 18th
century Industrial Revolution. During this time, Russia was renamed the Soviet Union, and replaced
as a communist nation because of being overthrown by Russian civilians, who assassinated Czar
Nicholas the II. The novel uses animals to represent the population of people, with some animals even
becoming and acting as leaders during this economic development. At the Manor Farm, the animals
rebel and win against their indefatigable human owner, Mr. Jones; however, a cryptic pig named
Napoleon takes the leadership role. As the farm struggles to make a utopian society, Boxer, a horse, is
depicted as an animal who is a peasant, and represents the working class during the difficult time.
Boxer is displayed variously as a persevering, devoted, and influential animal, that would expose the
Manor Farm of many flaws if he were not present and working.
Boxer is revealed in the text to be persevering, and an animal who will give every ounce of energy,
when it seems as though he has everything against him. After his hoof had healed up, Boxer worked
harder than ever...sometimes the long hours of insufficient food were hard to bear but Boxer never
faltered (74). This exemplifies that, Boxer is persistent, to the point where he will even work while he
is still recovering from a brutal hoof injury. This also shows that, Boxer, although lacking valuable
nutrients, will work through the pain of

Sara Teasdale Essay
Sara Teasdale lived a lonely life filled with feelings of depression, regardless of her circumstance.
These feelings of loneliness and depression manifest themselves in her lyric poems through her use of
emotional diction and her employment of simple imagery. Sara Teasdale, born in 1884 in St. Louis,
Missouri, grew up to be an incredibly famous poet. Her father, John Warren Teasdale, provided a
middle class life for his family. Sara s mother, Mary Elizabeth Teasdale, focused on their family s
image. Sara lived a sheltered and spoiled life. As a child she learned in private schools and taught to
believe consider herself fragile and constantly ill. Her parents fulfilled her need for protection until
later in her life when she began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teasdale uses the image of water again. Illustrating her experiences of love throughout her life, she
says I have loved much and been loved deeply. A summary of the entire poem, this quote works to
show that she experienced much love throughout her life, however fleeting the love had been. This
poem reflects Sarah s mentality that love should be an experience. Jessie B. Rittenhouse wrote about
Teasdale s collection Love Songs, stating that Teasdale s work seemed effortless. Rittenhouse believed
Teasdale s lyrical style just flowed from her lips. Calling Teasdale s poems impulsive, Rittenhouse
believed these poems to be simply composed casual responses to the emotional trials in Teasdale s life
(Rittenhouse 425). Another critic, Louis Untermeyer, believed Teasdale s Flame and Shadow
Collection to be completely different from her old works. Untermeyer suggested Teasdale wrote this
collection to branch out. While the subject of her poems remained the same, Teasdale tried something
new in regards to style. Untermeyer criticised that Teasdale limited herself too much in her subject
matter, and could have benefited from making alterations there, as well as in her style.Untermeyer also
commented that Teasdale became more flexible with her new style, refusing to stick to regular patterns

The Relationship Between Cancer, Cancer And Cancer
Cancer, Cancer is one thing that happens to several people for smoking, tanning, or you can just get it
out of nowhere. It effects a lot of people s daily life while they continue their fight to try and win their
battle. You can be any color and still get cancer it happens to everyone because were all the same. Don

similar to the people who develop racist attitudes from living in a racist society. Some people tend to
be racists and not even see it they way other people do. Of course we have all seen different types of
racism from place to place or even on TV. Like when we explore our downtown area there are several

Troy Versus Homers Illiad
TROY VS HOMERS ILIAD
(A comparison between the two with a mix of movie reviewing) by Amber Shepherd
When comparing the movie Troy, directed by Wolfgang Petterson, and The Iliad, written by Greek
poet Homer we can clearly see that although Petterson has made an excellent film he has clearly left
out certain aspects of the Iliad which really define the story.
Both versions portray the Trojan War between Greece and Troy, Achilles killing Hector and King
Priam visiting Achilles to ask for the body of his son Hector back. However both versions do not
portray accurate versions of the fight between Menelaus and Paris, nor do they correctly explain why
Helen has come to reside in Troy nor does the movie portray the proper burial rights of the ... Show

Once they land on the shores of Troy, the immediately sack a nearby town which includes a temple of
Apollo and Achilles takes one of the Priestesses, Briseis, as his prize, unbeknown to him that she is the
cousin of Hector and Paris. Agamemnon begins to claim that Briseis was his spoil of war which
angers Achilles to the point in which he vows that one day Agamemnon will fall under his sword.
We then see a clip of Helen attempting to leave Troy as she believes if she returns to Menelaus it will
prevent more lives from being lost. Hector sees her and persuades her to stay, telling her she is a
princess of Troy now. The next day, Agamemnon as his army march to Troy and demand the return of
Helen or a war would break out. Hector offers up his brother Paris to fight Menelaus in order to decide
who would get to keep Helen. Just before Menelaus can deliver the death blow, Paris crawls to his
brother s feet and hides behind him in cowardice. Hector then delivers the death blow to Menelaus
which sparks of the beginning of the fighting. As the fighting progresses on the battle field we see
clips of Achilles and Briseis and we see that they have begun to fall in love. Achilles makes plans to
return home with Briseis and his beloved cousin Patroclus. As dawn approaches on the battle field we
see Achilles riding into battle which shocks everyone but raises their spirits,

What Is The Poem Poetry Of Metaphors
Poetry of Departures by Philip Larkin is a poem that bears uncanny semblance to life today especially
that of the current day youth. The poem, apart from being a good read, is a very apt description of how
young people tend to go about their lives these days mostly bored, slightly mechanical in outlook,
wanting to do more but failing to go noticed as more than a mere cog in the machine that s life.
The poem bases itself on the themes of escape, boredom, and restlessness and in doing so it quite aptly
portrays how dissatisfying out general attitude towards life is, and how it is quite obvious why we
seem to crave for more meaning in our daily routines.
The poem however does this in a clever way through the dialogue. The feeling ... Show more content

And this tendency towards escapism is exactly what this poem describes. The attitude that we can
have toward our duties or our work because we are doing it not out of love, but out of some weird
obligation we feel towards satisfying the expectations of our societies; the attitude where we just want
to throw up our hands at times and take a moment away from the hustle and bustle of our fast paces
lives and do something for ourselves in the selfish interest of happiness is something that the poem
very poignantly points out.
The sense of all pervasive boredom is also something that comes across to the reader very effectively.
The fact that today s youth all hate home (not because we actually hate it, but because we take the
comfort we get for granted) is something that cannot be ignored. And this is not just true for our
homes but for everything that has been made available to us. In being enabled with most things, we
often forget the true value of the objects that make up our known surroundings, and this unfortunately
is the bitter truth that the poem subtly comments

Social Media Makeup Essay
Social media and make up, does it blend? Nowadays, everything is heavily influenced by social media
and makeup is no exception. Everyday makeup brands come up with new ideas on how to persuade
the consumer to buy their products. Their new strategy is to collaborate with Youtubers with millions
of followers to create new products; this is the case for the new Morphe palette. Morphe, an indie
brand, released an eyeshadow palette in collaboration with Jaclyn Hill, a makeup artist with 4.5
million followers on Youtube. They created the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette , which sold
out almost immediately (Statz). This palette has impacted the makeup world and became a must have
for any makeup lover. With so many makeup brands ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, it also comes with different eyeshadow textures, such as shimmers and mattes, which make
the palette feel complete and perfect to create a variety of looks. Makeup lovers would be delighted
with this, since they are sometimes tired of buying the same boring and normal eyeshadows, just like a
makeup enthusiast said, I find that many of my palettes seem to be lacking these types of colors. I also
appreciate the act that she included a few pops of color. Instead of appearing RANDOM, they actually
compliment the more neutral shadows in this palette. You can tell she put a ton of thought into each
color that she included (Kate). Thanks to the variety of colors, users are able to be more versatile and
creative with the looks they create, making it a perfect choice for anyone that wants to have some fun.
Pretty eyeshadow colors are important, but pigmentation is also a big factor of the quality of an
eyeshadow. When costumers see a vibrant red color in a palette, they expect it to look the exact same
way in their eyelids, and not as a pale red. In the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette, the eyeshadows have
great pigmentation and the colors look just as in the palette. Besides, applying the eyeshadows to the
face once it s enough to get a great coverage, which is great because consumers would waste less
product. The combination of great pigmentation and great coverage is something that any makeup
lover would love to have.

The Flight of the Kitty Hawk
The Flight of the Kitty Hawk
HP did many things correctly when addressing the challenges for disruptive change. For instance, they
organized a smaller team of hungry individuals from marketing, manufacturing, and research and
development that moved the project away from the core group essentially acting as a small startup
business. The smaller group was motivated to establish itself and prove their product was worthy of
funding and upper management support. They also differentiated themselves by choosing team
members that were uninterested in maintaining status in the company mainstream way of thinking. HP

I would still want to get the product to market quickly while having the versatility to make changes on
the fly. To find new markets I would expose the product to consumers through experimental trials.
This would expose the product to potential clients and consumers and allow our development team to
get feedback on consumer needs and wants as well as help us define changes necessary to make the
product more appealing and usable. Instead of propelling the product forward based on profitability
goals and measures, the idea would be to let the new and emerging market help us define our product
while our product defines the new market. For example, when Seymour and White went to the
electronics trade show in Chicago in search of their market, both them and Nintendo stumbled upon
each other. Seymour and White were introduced to a market that they hadn t considered in gaming,
and at the same time, Nintendo was introduced to a want or need they had in game storage that they
had not yet considered.
Another example of a company that has been successful in creating disruptive technology is Apple. At
around the same time that Nintendo was creating its place in the market, Sony came around with a
series of portable music devices such as the Walkman and the portable CD player. Soon after, Apple
introduced the Ipod which is more compact than either of Sony s products. The Ipod also allowed for

Christ Crucifixion
The Dream of The Rood is considered one of the finest of religious poems written during the Anglo
Saxon period (Book). The poem begins with the narrator, whom the reader later discovers is the rood,
stating that he or she is going to talk about a dream. In said dream, the most beautiful tree is spotted
glistening with gold and gems; the tree then begins to bleed from the right side. The entirety of the
poem is describing, from the rood s point of view, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The poem has many
aspects of Anglo Saxon literature, and differs in several ways from the actual bible telling of the
crucifixion; in The Dream of The Rood, Jesus is depicted as more of an anglo saxon like warrior, the
cross endures more pain than Jesus himself, and
Before the belief of the afterlife in Heaven, derived heavily from Christianity, men believed that they
would be remembered for generations to come solely by the heroic and chivalrous acts they had done
in their lifetime. The typical Anglo Saxon hero was a warrior; he was strong, intelligent, courageous
and willing to fight to death for the love of their lords or kings (Kundu). The poet of The Dream of
The Rood , depicts Jesus as a warrior; he feels no pain or humiliation during the crucifixion, and the

he goes into nearly every fight stating that he is eager to plunge into battle. In The Dream of The
Rood, Christ is illustrated as having strength, vigor, and courage just like

The Rise of Silas Lapham by William Dean Howells Essay
The Rise of Silas Lapham by William Dean Howells
In the novel, The Rise of Silas Lapham, William Dean Howells makes a particular point about the
morals of an individual in the business world. His point is that an individual, such as Silas, must check
their morals at the door if they have any plans to make it in the business world. The novel has always
been popular, partly because it presents Lapham s financial and social failure as consciously and
deliberately chosen when he has to decide whether he shall cheat and stay on top in business or tell the
truth and fail irrecoverably (Gibson 283). The Rise of Silas Lapham is a novel that deals with the
potential moral corruption of a man by money. The outward signs of Silas Lapham s ... Show more

Obviously the pressures of big business would be much tougher to deal with in a big city, like Boston,
than in a small rural farm town, because the competition to be the best is much greater in the urban
areas. The time period in which the story is set, the late 1800 s, is also a crucial part of the puzzle. All
throughout the early 1800 s up until the present, big business has been on the rise. When large
companies started setting up in cities, people moved to where the jobs were, and soon small towns
became gigantic urban metropolises. The big business is what ultimately causes Silas moral rise and
financial fall, and that is a crucial part of the plot. If the story where set in a different time period it
would not have as big an impact. Also during the late 1800 s, social standing was very important. In
those days a person was measured by their social standing, so it meant everything. The reason this is
important is because, interwoven in the main plot is a secondary plot. This secondary plot has to do
with the love triangle between Penelope Lapham, Irene Lapham, and Tom Corey. Everyone seems to
think that Tom and Irene are in love with each other, while in actuality it is Tom and Penelope that are
in love. This secondary plot only adds to Silas and Mrs. Corey s inner struggles. If the story where not
set in this time period, the social impact on the plot would also not be as great. Another aspect of the
setting is the house that they currently

Olympic Housing Issues
Along with the money that must be spent on these new facilities, there must also be land for them to
reside on. Because new land cannot be created, scarcity again comes into effect. This is made apparent
through the real estate market. Often times, these Olympic construction projects take the space of what
would be housing developments or other building projects. This can cause rents to rise in the city and
its surrounding areas. These cities are also likely to experience the effects of crowding out (The
Economic Impact 19). Because there is an abundance of people flooding the area and limited space in
hotels for them to stay, hotel prices skyrocket. This causes many of the people who would normally
come visit the country without the games ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some cases, citizens of the host city are very opposed to certain aspects of facilities that are built to
house the Games. For example, in the Sydney Olympics, the citizens held a very hostile attitude
toward the construction of the Bondi Beach Volleyball Stadium. They argued that the development of
that facility would close off a popular surfing beach for six months causing them an inconvenience.
The people of Sydney also thought that putting an arena on this stretch of beach might cause
environmental problems (Cashman 6). The recent Rio Olympics especially stirred up some
controversy. The developers of these games built a golf course in a natural reserve, evicted hundreds
of families to make way for infrastructure, and even built their press center on a slave burial ground
(Coston). These actions are all violations of universal ethical and moral principles. As Catholics, we
know that it is our job to care for the environment. When the maker s of the Rio Games, Sydney
Game, and any other Games for that matter, build a facility that disrupts a natural reserve or natural
habitat of animals, it breaks that teaching. We also know that each and every person is made in God s
image and therefore deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. The people that were evicted from
their homes or dug up from their graves to allow development were not given that dignity that they
deserve. Along with development, the initial bidding process also brings up ethics issues. When a
country enters into the bidding process to try to obtain the rights for hosting the Games, local
communities often end up being motivated and run by private business interests. This leads to the
interests of the citizens of the city not being properly represented. It also leads to the city spending
billions of dollars just to have a chance to host the Games, which they may

Grand Theft Auto Debate
A. Can you imagine a situation where an entertainment industry designed or created a video game
where you were allowed to kill any police officers by set them on fire, massacre them using rifles and
chainsaws? Do you think that anyone wanted to buy that kind of games? The answer is yes and they
already did.
1. Did you know the worldwide sale of a violent game named Grand Theft Auto has sold nearly $2.3
billion? According to a CBS news article with a title Can a Video Game Relate to Murder , Grand
Theft Auto (GTA) is a video game where the players can live in a world administered by the laws of
depravity. If there re people you don t like? Kill them. If you see a car that you like, steal it (Leung).

So, for me, banning the sale of violent video games to minors is one of the best prevention methods to
put an end to this problem.
1. This legislation is to strengthen the present industry controlled rating system and to ban the sale or
rental any video games that are excessively violent that consist killing, hurting, dissecting or sexually
assaulting an image of a human being to those who were under 18 (Mears).
2. Retailers who violate this law will be fine and it also requires the game maker to put an 18 label on
greatly violent video games (Mears).
3. This legislation is really beneficial to our society as it can prevent youths in our community to get
engaged in any violent acts caused by video games influence. Restriction may not be a good solution
as there are some parents that do not care what their children do; they just allow their children to do
whatever they want. But, with government involvement, it was harder for the minors to get access to
the violent video games. Now, you all can see that banning of the sale of violent video games to
minors is the best way that we can do, as there are no other efficient ways to put an end to this
problem. What happen if we do not support this legislation?

Stereotype Of The Angry Black Woman
I am loud, irate, and unapproachable. If you disrespect me, I become uncontrollable, because my only
method of communication is through deleterious speech that only escalates the situation further. I am
the angry black woman. We see this horrific stereotype almost every day on television and very
seldom notice it, because we get lost in the entertainment of it. The Angry Black Woman stereotype is
harmful to black women, young and old, because it shows us in a negative light and can control how
other and how we see ourselves. When women get angry, it s often blamed dismissively on their
monthly menstrual cycle. But imagine just how infuriating it would be if all of your negative emotions
were blamed on your year round skin tone. The stereotype of the angry black woman is a prime
example of how these categorizations function as social control mechanisms. Media constantly use
this stereotype of the angry black woman as rude, stubborn, and most of all angry. Though we all
know that most movies are fictional, they are harmful because they can demonstrate different real life
personalities. The Angry Train scene in Why Did I Get Married, displays this stereotype. In this scene,
we see Angela, Marcus wife confront her husband about his baby mama looking at her crazy. The
passengers behind Angela and Marcus asks her to quiet down, and from there, we see the angry black
woman break out, hence the scene title, Angry Train . We also hear some racist remarks from the

The City Of Karratha Region Of North East Western Australia
The City of Karratha is in the Pilbara region of north east Western Australia. It was renamed from the
Shire of Roebourne to the City of Karratha on the 1st of July 2014. The surrounding region contains
the Burrup Peninsula an area filled with petroglyphs, engravings in the rock which have been around
for over 30,000 years. This is evidence of occupation of the Aboriginal people in this area and may
even show a sign of the world s first counting system.
The mining industry in the area has boomed, and the City of Karratha is now home to many people
working in the industry. The iron ore in the area is of particular interest.
The Burrup Peninsula is not particularly cared for. There are acts of vandalism by tourists and locals
alike who sign their names on prehistoric artworks unfortunately, this can damage the rock art and can
cover the artwork that proves human inhabitancy from over 30,000 years ago. Vandalism would be
bad enough for the rock art alone but the Western Australian government shows no signs of stopping
its approval of the many mining developments in the region. Unfortunately, this rock art cannot be
replaced or removed without serious damage the whole area is rich in resources, so the mining
developments could be moved, or at least new developments approved away from these sites.

him horrendous breath, only adding to the disgusting picture that Chaucer paints of the Summoner.

The Adolescent Stage Essay
The adolescent stage is one in which the human being develops from being a child into an adult, or
from puberty to legal adulthood. The stage consists of the transition in both the physical and the
psychological contexts ( Adolescence | Psychology Today , 2016). The transaction of the adolescent is
the relationship between the environments and the person (Bosma Kunnen, 2001). This interaction
influences the adolescents development as they are in the stage of their lives whereby the trying to
attain autonomy of their lives from their parents/ caregivers (Bosma Kunnen, 2001). To achieve
development to emerge into adulthood there are many identity statuses one must go through in order
to achieve a sucessful development (Waterman, 1999). These identity statuses are influenced by the
psychosocial enviornment of the person and these are represented in identity processes (Bosma
Kunnen, 2001). Identity processes are immeadiate processing of data that affects the identity and
actually holds the identity at stake (Bosma Kunnen, 2001). However they are the building blocks to
developmental processes which is the identity growth and change over the human life span (Bosma

Examples Of Dichotomy In Beowulf
Beowulf: a Wonderful Example of Dichotomies in Literature
In the epic poem Beowulf, characters with vast differences and similarities appear and blend together
to foil each other to make for a very interesting read. Many examples of dichotomies exist in the
multitude of characters introduced throughout the poem. One of the most prevalent examples is
demonstrated by the relationship between Beowulf and Grendel. There are varying dichotomies that
continuously show up throughout the poem, and Beowulf and Grendel embody several themes that
overlap with one another. The most evident dichotomy is good versus evil, but other dichotomies
displayed align with the overarching theme of good versus evil, such as bravery versus cowardice, and
dark versus light. This essay focuses on bravery versus cowardice as a theme for the main characters
Beowulf and Grendel, but this dichotomy is also demonstrated by other characters such as Wiglaf and

1980) was assassinated because of his protests against the horrors the government did against the
people of El Salvador. I enjoyed this movie because of the deep themes and meanings that were
revealed throughout. There was no fluff in this movie, and it boldly showed graphic images and scenes
that portrayed the reality of the situation in El Salvador. Although there were times that some of the
subplots were confusing, the overall plot of the movie was straightforward and easy to understand.
The movie begins with a priest, Father Grande, encouraging the poor people to vote, but the voters are
shot at by guerilla soldiers and the soldiers force the people to walk through the danger. This active
work of the priest is observed by Romero who seems to disapprove of the Father Grande s disruption.
At the beginning of the movie, Romero is quiet, submissive, and does not like to disturb the waters of
thinly held peace. These traits earn him the spot of Archbishop of El Salvador because the church
leaders think he will remain uninvolved in political affairs.
Despite the leaders hopes, this changes when Father Grande is killed. Romero begins to fully realize
the horrors of the government, and he starts to take a stand for the people. He learns later that another
priest was captured by the government and tortured by the government. This indicates that the
government has little respect for the

How Did Roman Culture Influence Greek Culture
1. During the Agricultural Revolution, humans began settling down in communities and farming. The
more the residents depended on farming, the more the population increased. This made it harder to
revert to the hunter gatherer lifestyle. Human waste also easily contaminated water in settlements. 2.
Settlements had storehouses to keep valuable items and food surplus. Inside storehouses, surpluses
were offered to the gods at the beginning of the harvest season. Food surplus birthed accounting,
writing, and the bureaucracy, for scribes recorded all contributions to the storehouses. 3. Farming was
adopted partly to preserve the beer supply. Beer also helped to make up for the diminishing food
supply. It was safer to drink than the water that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arab scholars developed instruments that would later be used for European exploration, such as the
astrolabe, nautical maps, and the magnetic compass. 2. Sugar was introduced by the Arabs to Madeira,
the Azores, and the Canaries, which turned out to be great places for cultivating sugar. Slavery
developed because slaves were required to work on sugar plantations in these areas. Sugar later
became important for creating rum during this period. Rum was used to buy slaves. Slaves produced
sugar, which was them made into rum, which bought more slaves, and so on. 3. Admiral Edward
Vernon added sugar and lime juice to rum in order to make it more palatable. This cocktail became
known as grog. Sailors often died from scurvy during this period, and the lime juice in grog reduced
the cases of scurvy among sailors drastically. Therefore, British sailors were healthier. French sailors
drank wine, which reduced their immunity to scurvy, when the British navy was becoming more
resistance to scurvy. So, the Royal Navy s performance improved, helping them to defeat the French

Courage in Pat Barker s Regeneration Essay
Courage in Pat Barker s Regeneration
During the Vietnam War, many Americans decided to choose conscientious objector status and serve
the war effort in non combative ways; others moved to Canada, leaving their families, their
communities, and their nation because of strong political convictions. While some said these people
were cowards and a disgrace to their families and their nation, others argued that those had just as
much courage as the men on the front lines. Although moving to Canada was far less difficult than
being sent to Vietnam, these Draft Dodgers proved they had courage to stand up for what they
believed in. On pages eight and twenty two of Pat Barker s Regeneration, two very highly esteemed
awards are introduced, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
37,081 MC awards were given during World War I, and though it was an unusually large number of
awards, it did not decrease the valor in receiving one (Duffy).
The Victoria Cross (VC) Award is the highest medal that can be awarded to British and
Commonwealth soldiers. It was first instituted by the Royal Warrant in 1856, but was also used during
the Crimean War, starting in 1854. The metal that this award is made out of typically comes from the
guns captured from the enemies. In the Crimean War, metal from the Russian guns was used, and in
World War I, metal from the Chinese guns was used. The metal for these medals has further
significance, then, because it is not simply a metal fabricated from everyday materials, but is made
with the valor and honor of the conquered enemies weapons. Throughout the years, the VC medal has
continued to be one that is bestowed upon brave officers, and is today currently presented by the
Monarch. This highly prestigious award can only be given to a person whose actions are in the
presence of the enemy (Chapman), thus reserving it for the elite few who perform incredibly heroic
acts during the war. Due to the tremendous amount of danger involved in one of these acts, the
chances of surviving a VC act is one in ten (Chapman).
The first mention of the MC award, referred to on page eight of Barker s novel, is briefly stated as Dr.

Informative Essay On Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras, first introduced to New Orleans in the early 1730s, is now one of the most celebrated
holidays by many natives in Louisiana. Several events are planned for the celebration, beginning in
late October or November, which leads into the Mardi Gras season. Mardi Gras involves a series of
events and products like Mardi Gras Balls, delicious cakes that are famously known as King Cakes,
and parades every day beginning in January and ending on the day that is designated Mardi Gras Day,
also known as Fat Tuesday. Fat Tuesday is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, the Catholic holiday
that marks the beginning of Lent. During the parades, the people riding on the floats throw beads,
candy, and stuffed animals, sometimes even other things, to those who have come from all around the
world to witness a true New Orleans Mardi Gras. Some companies will even shut down their
businesses to celebrate this holiday, even though it is not a national holiday. By ... Show more content

When we see these three colors together, we know we are in great spirits because the color purple
symbolizes justice; green symbolizes faith; and yellow symbolizes power. According to Mardi Gras
New Orleans, the colors of Mardi Gras can be traced to the first Rex parade in 1872 (Mardi Gras New
Orleans 1) and are used on the infamous King Cake. The colors were chosen to resemble a jeweled
crown that honored the Wise Men and a plastic baby is placed inside of the cake to embody the day
Jesus showed himself to the three wisemen. Those who get the plastic baby inside of their slice of
King Cake are deemed as the King for the day and have to bring a new cake to the next celebration.

Parthenon
.Introduction
There are 3 (three) architectural orders in a classical building of the ancient Greece, they are Doric,
Ionic and Corinthian. As suggested by Dietsch and Stern (2002) that Doric is a common style in 7th
century B.C; Ionic style is first developed in the Ionian islands around the 6th century B.C or 100 year
after Doric style; and then, Corinthian style was originally from the city of Corinth around 5th century
B.C., not so popular like Doric.
The Parthenon is a Doric order style of the Temple that built by the Athenian Empire in 447 BC. In
terms of political and military viewpoints, the Parthenon is a symbol of Athenian imperial power. As
said by Martin (1999) that the Parthenon served as a champion of military power, indicated ... Show

as the Roman Church, while the Parthenon function is as a museum now days. Moreover, there is
another similarity between the Pantheon and the Parthenon that both Pantheon and Parthenon have 8
pillars in front of the entrance. These pillars to support a pediment; a triangular element in upper part
of front any classical style buildings. The different between Pantheon and Parthenon are following:
1.The Pantheon was designed to be placed to commemorate every god and goddesses (all the Roman
gods and goddesses), whereas the Parthenon was a temple for the patron of goddess, Athena.
2. In respect to structures, the Parthenon is a rectangular form; Columns are smaller; and columns in
Doric order of classical style. Quite a contrast that the Pantheon is built in a spherical structure, look
like circular from above building; columns are much larger, even to any other buildings ever built in
the Greek; and columns are in the Corinthian order of classical style.
3.In term of order of classical style that Doric is not only the oldest, but also very simple form. While

Cost Effectiveness Analysis
Cost effectiveness analysis (CEA) is the most used technique for evaluating health interventions. In
this type of analysis, the basic question is asked, How much health benefit do we get for our money?
The purpose of the CEA is to help decision makers allocate health care resources efficiently. In a
CEA, the analyst expresses health benefits in unit of health outcome (e.g., life saved) and the costs in
dollars. They calculate a cost effectiveness ratio: the ratio of dollars expended to health outcome
obtained. The analyst compares one intervention with another, so they calculate cost effectiveness as
the difference in cost between two interventions, divided by the difference in health benefit obtained.
For example, in a study that assessed the cost effectiveness of testing cholesterol levels in children,
compared with not testing, the cost effectiveness ratio would be: (Costs with testing Costs without ...

Abraham Moslow Essay
Abraham Moslow
The theorist I chose was Maslow, he was born in 1908 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the first of
seven children born to his parents, Jewish immigrants from Russia. His parents, hoping for the best for
their children in the New World, pushed him hard for academic success. He became the psychologist
who many people consider the founder of a movement called humanistic psychology. The movement
developed as a revolt against behaviorism and psychoanalysis, the two most popular psychological
views of the mid 1900 s. Humanistic psychologists believe individuals are controlled by their own
values and choices and not by the environment, as behaviorists think, or by unconscious drives, as
psychoanalyst believe. Maslow stressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In our day to day life we exhibit these needs in our desires to marry, have a family be a part of a
community, a member of church, brother part of a fraternity, a part of a gang or a bowling club. It is
also a part of what we look for in a career. The esteem needs. Next we begin to look for a little self
esteem. Maslow noted two versions of esteem needs, a lower one and a higher one. The lower one is
the need for the respect of others, the need for status, fame, glory, recognition, attention, reputation,
appreciation, dignity, even dominance. The higher form involves the need for self respect, including
such feelings as confidence, competence, achievement, mastery, independence, and freedom. This is
the higher
form because, unlike the respect of others, once we have self respect, it is a much harder to lose. The
negative version of these needs is low self esteem and weakness complexes. Maslow felt that Adler
was onto something when he stated that these were at the roots of many, even of our psychological
difficulties. In modern countries, many of us have what we need in regard to our physiological and
safety needs. Sometimes we even have reasonable amount of love and sense of belonging. It is a
respect that often seems hard to get! The next four levels Maslow calls deficit needs, or D needs. If
you do not have an adequate amount of something it would make it a deficit .We feel

Romeo And Juliet Conflict Analysis
Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, tells the tale of two young lovers whose lives end in great
tragedy. What makes their story so tragic is that despite their love for one another, their families are
mortal enemies. Conflict is a central ingredient in Romeo and Juliet s sad fate. Although their love for
each other is strong, it cannot overcome the deluge of conflict that surrounds them. Ultimately they
are defeated by the conflicts of person vs person, person vs self, and person vs society. One of the
most significant conflicts in Romeo and Juliet is person vs person. Romeo Montague experiences
conflict when battling with Tybalt, Juliet s cousin. Now Tybalt, take the villain back again/ that late
thou gavest me, for Mercutio s soul/ is but a little way above our heads;/ staying for thine to keep him
company;/ either thou on I, on both, must go , (Shakespeare 3.1. 121 125). This quote demonstrates
Romeo s anger against Tybalt due to his friend Mercutio s death, which is a person vs person conflict.
Another example of a person vs person conflict Juliet and her father Capulet. Juliet experiences her
conflict with her father when she is opposing her father s choice to County Paris for her husband.
Hang thee, young baggage, disobedient wretch!/ I tell thee what: get thee to church at Thursday,/ or
never after look me in the face. This quote shows how harshly Juliet s father, Capulet, is behaving in
order to force her to marry Paris. The last conflict is

Women From the Old Testament
The Old Testament shows many examples of the roles of women throughout the course of time.
Throughout the Old Testament women rights and roles have changed dramatically from the time of
Eve when she appeared to of had her rights stolen, to the time Ruth used her rights to marry a kin after
being a widow, and the time of Bathsheba when she was instructed to do so instead of being asked.
Their rights throughout the Old Testament have not been set at a constant in fact their rights through
the Old Testament vary depending on what your status was. Comparing the roles of Eve, Ruth, and

During the story Eve was persuaded by a serpent to eat the fruit for the tree in which God told them
not to eat from. Eve then persuaded Adam to do the same deed. When they told God their sins, God

God said Eve was to be a helper which by definition means sustainer, supervisor, or babysitter; not a

David spotted Bathsheba while on his roof and ordered his men to go and find her and bring her to
him. Bathsheba was married at the time to one of David s friends, Uriah. David assigned Uriah to the
front line of combat, which was where the men were most likely to die during war. Uriah is

invited her over and asked to marry her. They married and soon after she declared that she was

Cartridge Shooting Research Paper
Cartridge casings can be found a various types of crime scenes. These cartridge casings are then
examined to answer questions such as, what was the caliber of the firearm (i.e. 9mm, .308
Winchester), composition of the ammunition (i.e. brass, steel), shape (i.e. rimless, rimmed), the
position of the shooter, etc. Individual characteristics on cartridge casings that are useful in forensic
investigations include firing pin impressions, breech face marks, ejector marks, and extractor marks.
The various portions of the weapon that come into contact with the casings are firing pin, breech, the
ejector, the extractor, and the chamber. These parts leave their imprints on the fired casings because of
the great pressure on the cartridge when it s fired. The pressure is transmitted in ... Show more content

The cartridge is only fired if the firing pin strikes with a certain amount of force. So, it has to come
into contact with the cartridge to leave its impressions on the percussion cap. The firing pin strikes the
center ring of the cartridge and leaves a distinctive impression that is exclusive to the firing pin of that
particular gun. The clearness of the markings of the firing pin will depend on the pressure, which is
developed by the cartridge. Another identification method is using breech marks. When the
ammunition is fired, the explosion causes the bullet to get forced down the barrel and the cartridge
casing is forced back against the breech. The impressions that this leaves on the casing are unique to
the individual gun s breech. Examples of breech markings include vertical, sandblasted, mottled, rime
dents, etc. Also, when the cartridge casing is ejected from the chamber of the gun, it leaves marks on
the casing that are unique to those parts on the specific firearm. This includes markings that are
curved, diagonal, spiral, thin chamber marks, light ramp bulging,

  • 2. Papal Infallibility Of The Catholic Church The Catholic Church is One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. The church is Apostolic for a variety of reasons. Without this mark of the Church, there would be no church officials responsible for continuing the works of Jesus Christ and the twelve Apostles. Being Apostolic allows the church to pass authority to its leaders, and teachings on from generation to generation. The Catholic Church is Apostolic, and many of its attributes are related or reflect this mark of the Church. The word apostolic means of or relating to the apostles, or in some cases of or relating to the pope, because he is the successor of Saint Peter. The Church is apostolic because it was founded by the apostles who were chosen by Christ and sent on a mission by Him. Another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The domestic church relates to the church being Apostolic because your parents, who are the first source of religion, use the teachings of the Bishops to introduce you to a life of faith. Parents pass down the knowledge that the bishops pass down, to their children in order to peak an interest in God and Religion. It fits into the Parish and Particular church because a parish is a community and is considered an extended family, to all people a part of it. • 3. Role Of Boxer In Animal Farm The allegorical novella, titled Animal Farm, was written by George Orwell, and expresses the 18th century Industrial Revolution. During this time, Russia was renamed the Soviet Union, and replaced as a communist nation because of being overthrown by Russian civilians, who assassinated Czar Nicholas the II. The novel uses animals to represent the population of people, with some animals even becoming and acting as leaders during this economic development. At the Manor Farm, the animals rebel and win against their indefatigable human owner, Mr. Jones; however, a cryptic pig named Napoleon takes the leadership role. As the farm struggles to make a utopian society, Boxer, a horse, is depicted as an animal who is a peasant, and represents the working class during the difficult time. Boxer is displayed variously as a persevering, devoted, and influential animal, that would expose the Manor Farm of many flaws if he were not present and working. Boxer is revealed in the text to be persevering, and an animal who will give every ounce of energy, when it seems as though he has everything against him. After his hoof had healed up, Boxer worked harder than ever...sometimes the long hours of insufficient food were hard to bear but Boxer never faltered (74). This exemplifies that, Boxer is persistent, to the point where he will even work while he is still recovering from a brutal hoof injury. This also shows that, Boxer, although lacking valuable nutrients, will work through the pain of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Sara Teasdale Essay Sara Teasdale lived a lonely life filled with feelings of depression, regardless of her circumstance. These feelings of loneliness and depression manifest themselves in her lyric poems through her use of emotional diction and her employment of simple imagery. Sara Teasdale, born in 1884 in St. Louis, Missouri, grew up to be an incredibly famous poet. Her father, John Warren Teasdale, provided a middle class life for his family. Sara s mother, Mary Elizabeth Teasdale, focused on their family s image. Sara lived a sheltered and spoiled life. As a child she learned in private schools and taught to believe consider herself fragile and constantly ill. Her parents fulfilled her need for protection until later in her life when she began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teasdale uses the image of water again. Illustrating her experiences of love throughout her life, she says I have loved much and been loved deeply. A summary of the entire poem, this quote works to show that she experienced much love throughout her life, however fleeting the love had been. This poem reflects Sarah s mentality that love should be an experience. Jessie B. Rittenhouse wrote about Teasdale s collection Love Songs, stating that Teasdale s work seemed effortless. Rittenhouse believed Teasdale s lyrical style just flowed from her lips. Calling Teasdale s poems impulsive, Rittenhouse believed these poems to be simply composed casual responses to the emotional trials in Teasdale s life (Rittenhouse 425). Another critic, Louis Untermeyer, believed Teasdale s Flame and Shadow Collection to be completely different from her old works. Untermeyer suggested Teasdale wrote this collection to branch out. While the subject of her poems remained the same, Teasdale tried something new in regards to style. Untermeyer criticised that Teasdale limited herself too much in her subject matter, and could have benefited from making alterations there, as well as in her style.Untermeyer also commented that Teasdale became more flexible with her new style, refusing to stick to regular patterns (Untermeyer ... • 6. Troy Versus Homers Illiad TROY VS HOMERS ILIAD (A comparison between the two with a mix of movie reviewing) by Amber Shepherd When comparing the movie Troy, directed by Wolfgang Petterson, and The Iliad, written by Greek poet Homer we can clearly see that although Petterson has made an excellent film he has clearly left out certain aspects of the Iliad which really define the story. Both versions portray the Trojan War between Greece and Troy, Achilles killing Hector and King Priam visiting Achilles to ask for the body of his son Hector back. However both versions do not portray accurate versions of the fight between Menelaus and Paris, nor do they correctly explain why Helen has come to reside in Troy nor does the movie portray the proper burial rights of the ... Once they land on the shores of Troy, the immediately sack a nearby town which includes a temple of Apollo and Achilles takes one of the Priestesses, Briseis, as his prize, unbeknown to him that she is the cousin of Hector and Paris. Agamemnon begins to claim that Briseis was his spoil of war which angers Achilles to the point in which he vows that one day Agamemnon will fall under his sword. We then see a clip of Helen attempting to leave Troy as she believes if she returns to Menelaus it will prevent more lives from being lost. Hector sees her and persuades her to stay, telling her she is a princess of Troy now. The next day, Agamemnon as his army march to Troy and demand the return of Helen or a war would break out. Hector offers up his brother Paris to fight Menelaus in order to decide who would get to keep Helen. Just before Menelaus can deliver the death blow, Paris crawls to his brother s feet and hides behind him in cowardice. Hector then delivers the death blow to Menelaus which sparks of the beginning of the fighting. As the fighting progresses on the battle field we see clips of Achilles and Briseis and we see that they have begun to fall in love. • 7. What Is The Poem Poetry Of Metaphors Poetry of Departures by Philip Larkin is a poem that bears uncanny semblance to life today especially that of the current day youth. The poem, apart from being a good read, is a very apt description of how young people tend to go about their lives these days mostly bored, slightly mechanical in outlook, wanting to do more but failing to go noticed as more than a mere cog in the machine that s life. The poem bases itself on the themes of escape, boredom, and restlessness and in doing so it quite aptly portrays how dissatisfying out general attitude towards life is, and how it is quite obvious why we seem to crave for more meaning in our daily routines. The poem however does this in a clever way through the dialogue. The feeling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And this tendency towards escapism is exactly what this poem describes. The attitude that we can have toward our duties or our work because we are doing it not out of love, but out of some weird obligation we feel towards satisfying the expectations of our societies; the attitude where we just want to throw up our hands at times and take a moment away from the hustle and bustle of our fast paces lives and do something for ourselves in the selfish interest of happiness is something that the poem very poignantly points out. The sense of all pervasive boredom is also something that comes across to the reader very effectively. The fact that today s youth all hate home (not because we actually hate it, but because we take the comfort we get for granted) is something that cannot be ignored. And this is not just true for our homes but for everything that has been made available to us. In being enabled with most things, we often forget the true value of the objects that make up our known surroundings, and this unfortunately is the bitter truth that the poem subtly comments ... • 8. Social Media Makeup Essay Social media and make up, does it blend? Nowadays, everything is heavily influenced by social media and makeup is no exception. Everyday makeup brands come up with new ideas on how to persuade the consumer to buy their products. Their new strategy is to collaborate with Youtubers with millions of followers to create new products; this is the case for the new Morphe palette. Morphe, an indie brand, released an eyeshadow palette in collaboration with Jaclyn Hill, a makeup artist with 4.5 million followers on Youtube. They created the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette , which sold out almost immediately (Statz). This palette has impacted the makeup world and became a must have for any makeup lover. Moreover, it also comes with different eyeshadow textures, such as shimmers and mattes, which make the palette feel complete and perfect to create a variety of looks. Makeup lovers would be delighted with this, since they are sometimes tired of buying the same boring and normal eyeshadows, just like a makeup enthusiast said, I find that many of my palettes seem to be lacking these types of colors. I also appreciate the act that she included a few pops of color. Instead of appearing RANDOM, they actually compliment the more neutral shadows in this palette. You can tell she put a ton of thought into each color that she included (Kate). Thanks to the variety of colors, users are able to be more versatile and creative with the looks they create, making it a perfect choice for anyone that wants to have some fun. Pretty eyeshadow colors are important, but pigmentation is also a big factor of the quality of an eyeshadow. When costumers see a vibrant red color in a palette, they expect it to look the exact same way in their eyelids, and not as a pale red. In the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette, the eyeshadows have great pigmentation and the colors look just as in the palette. Besides, applying the eyeshadows to the face once it s enough to get a great coverage, which is great because consumers would waste less product. The combination of great pigmentation and great coverage is something that any makeup lover would love to have. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, they organized a smaller team of hungry individuals from marketing, manufacturing, and research and development that moved the project away from the core group essentially acting as a small startup business. The smaller group was motivated to establish itself and prove their product was worthy of funding and upper management support. I would still want to get the product to market quickly while having the versatility to make changes on the fly. To find new markets I would expose the product to consumers through experimental trials. This would expose the product to potential clients and consumers and allow our development team to get feedback on consumer needs and wants as well as help us define changes necessary to make the product more appealing and usable. Instead of propelling the product forward based on profitability goals and measures, the idea would be to let the new and emerging market help us define our product while our product defines the new market. For example, when Seymour and White went to the electronics trade show in Chicago in search of their market, both them and Nintendo stumbled upon each other. Seymour and White were introduced to a market that they hadn t considered in gaming, and at the same time, Nintendo was introduced to a want or need they had in game storage that they had not yet considered. Another example of a company that has been successful in creating disruptive technology is Apple. At around the same time that Nintendo was creating its place in the market, Sony came around with a series of portable music devices such as the Walkman and the portable CD player. Soon after, Apple introduced the Ipod which is more compact than either of Sony s products. The Ipod also allowed for more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Christ Crucifixion The Dream of The Rood is considered one of the finest of religious poems written during the Anglo Saxon period (Book). The poem begins with the narrator, whom the reader later discovers is the rood, stating that he or she is going to talk about a dream. In said dream, the most beautiful tree is spotted glistening with gold and gems; the tree then begins to bleed from the right side. The entirety of the poem is describing, from the rood s point of view, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The poem has many aspects of Anglo Saxon literature, and differs in several ways from the actual bible telling of the crucifixion; in The Dream of The Rood, Jesus is depicted as more of an anglo saxon like warrior, the cross endures more pain than Jesus himself, and Before the belief of the afterlife in Heaven, derived heavily from Christianity, men believed that they would be remembered for generations to come solely by the heroic and chivalrous acts they had done in their lifetime. The typical Anglo Saxon hero was a warrior; he was strong, intelligent, courageous and willing to fight to death for the love of their lords or kings (Kundu). • 11. The Rise of Silas Lapham by William Dean Howells Essay The Rise of Silas Lapham by William Dean Howells In the novel, The Rise of Silas Lapham, William Dean Howells makes a particular point about the morals of an individual in the business world. His point is that an individual, such as Silas, must check their morals at the door if they have any plans to make it in the business world. The novel has always been popular, partly because it presents Lapham s financial and social failure as consciously and deliberately chosen when he has to decide whether he shall cheat and stay on top in business or tell the truth and fail irrecoverably (Gibson 283). The Rise of Silas Lapham is a novel that deals with the potential moral corruption of a man by money. The outward signs of Silas Lapham s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Obviously the pressures of big business would be much tougher to deal with in a big city, like Boston, than in a small rural farm town, because the competition to be the best is much greater in the urban areas. The time period in which the story is set, the late 1800 s, is also a crucial part of the puzzle. All throughout the early 1800 s up until the present, big business has been on the rise. When large companies started setting up in cities, people moved to where the jobs were, and soon small towns became gigantic urban metropolises. The big business is what ultimately causes Silas moral rise and financial fall, and that is a crucial part of the plot. If the story where set in a different time period it would not have as big an impact. Also during the late 1800 s, social standing was very important. In those days a person was measured by their social standing, so it meant everything. The reason this is important is because, interwoven in the main plot is a secondary plot. This secondary plot has to do with the love triangle between Penelope Lapham, Irene Lapham, and Tom Corey. Everyone seems to think that Tom and Irene are in love with each other, while in actuality it is Tom and Penelope that are in love. This secondary plot only adds to Silas and Mrs. Corey s inner struggles. If the story where not set in this time period, the social impact on the plot would also not be as great. • 12. Olympic Housing Issues Along with the money that must be spent on these new facilities, there must also be land for them to reside on. Because new land cannot be created, scarcity again comes into effect. This is made apparent through the real estate market. Often times, these Olympic construction projects take the space of what would be housing developments or other building projects. This can cause rents to rise in the city and its surrounding areas. These cities are also likely to experience the effects of crowding out (The Economic Impact 19). Because there is an abundance of people flooding the area and limited space in hotels for them to stay, hotel prices skyrocket. This causes many of the people who would normally come visit the country without the games ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In some cases, citizens of the host city are very opposed to certain aspects of facilities that are built to house the Games. For example, in the Sydney Olympics, the citizens held a very hostile attitude toward the construction of the Bondi Beach Volleyball Stadium. They argued that the development of that facility would close off a popular surfing beach for six months causing them an inconvenience. The people of Sydney also thought that putting an arena on this stretch of beach might cause environmental problems (Cashman 6). The recent Rio Olympics especially stirred up some controversy. The developers of these games built a golf course in a natural reserve, evicted hundreds of families to make way for infrastructure, and even built their press center on a slave burial ground (Coston). These actions are all violations of universal ethical and moral principles. As Catholics, we know that it is our job to care for the environment. When the maker s of the Rio Games, Sydney Game, and any other Games for that matter, build a facility that disrupts a natural reserve or natural habitat of animals, it breaks that teaching. We also know that each and every person is made in God s image and therefore deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. The people that were evicted from their homes or dug up from their graves to allow development were not given that dignity that they deserve. Along with development, the initial bidding process also brings up ethics issues. When a country enters into the bidding process to try to obtain the rights for hosting the Games, local communities often end up being motivated and run by private business interests. This leads to the interests of the citizens of the city not being properly represented. It also leads to the city spending billions of dollars just to have a chance to host the Games, which they may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Can you imagine a situation where an entertainment industry designed or created a video game where you were allowed to kill any police officers by set them on fire, massacre them using rifles and chainsaws? Did you know the worldwide sale of a violent game named Grand Theft Auto has sold nearly $2.3 billion? According to a CBS news article with a title Can a Video Game Relate to Murder , Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is a video game where the players can live in a world administered by the laws of depravity. So, for me, banning the sale of violent video games to minors is one of the best prevention methods to put an end to this problem. 1. This legislation is to strengthen the present industry controlled rating system and to ban the sale or rental any video games that are excessively violent that consist killing, hurting, dissecting or sexually assaulting an image of a human being to those who were under 18 (Mears). 2. Retailers who violate this law will be fine and it also requires the game maker to put an 18 label on greatly violent video games (Mears). 3. This legislation is really beneficial to our society as it can prevent youths in our community to get engaged in any violent acts caused by video games influence. Restriction may not be a good solution as there are some parents that do not care what their children do; they just allow their children to do whatever they want. But, with government involvement, it was harder for the minors to get access to the violent video games. Now, you all can see that banning of the sale of violent video games to minors is the best way that we can do, as there are no other efficient ways to put an end to this problem. • 14. Stereotype Of The Angry Black Woman I am loud, irate, and unapproachable. If you disrespect me, I become uncontrollable, because my only method of communication is through deleterious speech that only escalates the situation further. I am the angry black woman. We see this horrific stereotype almost every day on television and very seldom notice it, because we get lost in the entertainment of it. The Angry Black Woman stereotype is harmful to black women, young and old, because it shows us in a negative light and can control how other and how we see ourselves. When women get angry, it s often blamed dismissively on their monthly menstrual cycle. But imagine just how infuriating it would be if all of your negative emotions were blamed on your year round skin tone. The stereotype of the angry black woman is a prime example of how these categorizations function as social control mechanisms. Media constantly use this stereotype of the angry black woman as rude, stubborn, and most of all angry. Though we all know that most movies are fictional, they are harmful because they can demonstrate different real life personalities. The Angry Train scene in Why Did I Get Married, displays this stereotype. In this scene, we see Angela, Marcus wife confront her husband about his baby mama looking at her crazy. The passengers behind Angela and Marcus asks her to quiet down, and from there, we see the angry black woman break out, hence the scene title, Angry Train . It was renamed from the Shire of Roebourne to the City of Karratha on the 1st of July 2014. The surrounding region contains the Burrup Peninsula an area filled with petroglyphs, engravings in the rock which have been around for over 30,000 years. This is evidence of occupation of the Aboriginal people in this area and may even show a sign of the world s first counting system. The mining industry in the area has boomed, and the City of Karratha is now home to many people working in the industry. The iron ore in the area is of particular interest. The Burrup Peninsula is not particularly cared for. There are acts of vandalism by tourists and locals alike who sign their names on prehistoric artworks unfortunately, this can damage the rock art and can cover the artwork that proves human inhabitancy from over 30,000 years ago. Vandalism would be bad enough for the rock art alone but the Western Australian government shows no signs of stopping its approval of the many mining developments in the region. Unfortunately, this rock art cannot be replaced or removed without serious damage the whole area is rich in resources, so the mining developments could be moved, or at least new developments approved away from these sites. In several cases petroglyphs have been removed for the sake of mining in the Burrup Peninsula. For example, approximately 150 petroglyphs were removed to make room for a natural ... He is not described as showing traits of a higher class, therefore his social status is one of a lower one. Chaucer first highlights his fire like red face that is caused by his carbuncles and pimples that no ointment or medicine can cure. Examples Of Dichotomy In Beowulf Beowulf: a Wonderful Example of Dichotomies in Literature In the epic poem Beowulf, characters with vast differences and similarities appear and blend together to foil each other to make for a very interesting read. Many examples of dichotomies exist in the multitude of characters introduced throughout the poem. One of the most prevalent examples is demonstrated by the relationship between Beowulf and Grendel. There are varying dichotomies that continuously show up throughout the poem, and Beowulf and Grendel embody several themes that overlap with one another. The most evident dichotomy is good versus evil, but other dichotomies displayed align with the overarching theme of good versus evil, such as bravery versus cowardice, and dark versus light. This essay focuses on bravery versus cowardice as a theme for the main characters Beowulf and Grendel, but this dichotomy is also demonstrated by other characters such as Wiglaf and the other soldiers because of their fear of the dragon, and when Beowulf s soldiers stay with him to help fight Grendel despite not really having a chance to beat him. ... • 22. Romero Movie Analysis Of The Movie The movie Romero portrays the life of Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador. Romero (1917 1980) was assassinated because of his protests against the horrors the government did against the people of El Salvador. I enjoyed this movie because of the deep themes and meanings that were revealed throughout. There was no fluff in this movie, and it boldly showed graphic images and scenes that portrayed the reality of the situation in El Salvador. Although there were times that some of the subplots were confusing, the overall plot of the movie was straightforward and easy to understand. The movie begins with a priest, Father Grande, encouraging the poor people to vote, but the voters are shot at by guerilla soldiers and the soldiers force the people to walk through the danger. This active work of the priest is observed by Romero who seems to disapprove of the Father Grande s disruption. At the beginning of the movie, Romero is quiet, submissive, and does not like to disturb the waters of thinly held peace. These traits earn him the spot of Archbishop of El Salvador because the church leaders think he will remain uninvolved in political affairs. Despite the leaders hopes, this changes when Father Grande is killed. Romero begins to fully realize the horrors of the government, and he starts to take a stand for the people. He learns later that another priest was captured by the government and tortured by the government. This indicates that the government has little respect for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Cost Effectiveness Analysis Cost effectiveness analysis (CEA) is the most used technique for evaluating health interventions. In this type of analysis, the basic question is asked, How much health benefit do we get for our money? The purpose of the CEA is to help decision makers allocate health care resources efficiently. In a CEA, the analyst expresses health benefits in unit of health outcome (e.g., life saved) and the costs in dollars. They calculate a cost effectiveness ratio: the ratio of dollars expended to health outcome obtained. The analyst compares one intervention with another, so they calculate cost effectiveness as the difference in cost between two interventions, divided by the difference in health benefit obtained. The movement developed as a revolt against behaviorism and psychoanalysis, the two most popular psychological views of the mid 1900 s. The higher form involves the need for self respect, including such feelings as confidence, competence, achievement, mastery, independence, and freedom. This is the higher form because, unlike the respect of others, once we have self respect, it is a much harder to lose. The negative version of these needs is low self esteem and weakness complexes. Although their love for each other is strong, it cannot overcome the deluge of conflict that surrounds them.
