The Charge Of The Light Brigade
The poem Charge of the Light Brigade tells a story about 600 soldiers, who rode horseback, into the
valley of death . They were obeying the command of the man in charge, and charged at the enemy
forces that had been seizing their guns. All the soldiers knew that their commander had made a terrible
mistake in judgment, but they did not get discouraged or down about it. They knew that the role of a
soldier was to obey and not to make a reply...not to reason why, so they followed the orders and rode
into the valley of death . They were shot at by canons from the right, left, and front of them, but they
still boldly rode forward into the jaws of Death . The soldiers struck the enemy gunners with their
sabres bare and charged the enemy

Benefits Of Net Neutrality
Net Neutrality is the idea of being able to enjoy free speech, be involved in innovative processes, and
not have unreasonable limits placed on one s internet usage is alluring reason to support net neutrality.
Without net neutrality, big companies like Verizon, AT T, and Comcast which provide services to
consumers so they can access the internet would have more control. The companies can put severe
caps on the internet which basically would put limits on individual subscribers who are critical of
them. They would charge enormous fees for the services so that internet access is available to only the
wealthy. Net neutrality was put in place to protect broadband, protect small companies to continue to
innovate and protect freedom of expression. Broadband ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Family House Sales
Introduction New one family house sales from January 1975 through October 2017 has certainly been
a roller coaster ride. Unfortunately, the anticipation of climbing that giant hill and the exhilaration of
flying down the other side with the occupant s hands in the air on a roller coaster does not possess the
same sentiment when it comes to forecasting new one family house sales. While watching the
numbers climb is exciting for economists, the downward decline in sales causes forecasters,
economists and the market to throw their hands up in the air while screaming; What went wrong? A
plethora of causal factors play a role in the incline or decline of the housing market. Unemployment,
mortgage interest rate, disposable income, weather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ACF/Trend/Seasonality To determine which forecast model would best fit the NHS data, we must
examine several items: correlation of the data, existence or absence of trend and/or seasonality and
stationarity of data. Autocorrelation is the examination of the correlation of data between successive
observations over time (Wilson, Keating, John Galt Solutions, 2009, p. 84). Figure 2 shows the
autocorrelation factor (ACF) for the NHS data set. Because all the data is above the upper limit line,
there appears to be a positive trend present for the 12 month forecast. Upon further examination, the
ACF does not quickly fall to zero confirming a significant presence of trend. Seasonality can be
assumed by looking at the sharp up and down movement of the data in figure 1. The data is considered
stationary if the ACF is mainly contained within the upper and lower bounds as illustrate in figure 3.

Otzi Research Paper
In 1991 two hikers found a frozen body in a mountain pass in the Alps, on the Italian Austrian border
in Europe. This brave leader who lived about 5,000 years ago didn t know that he would be an
important clue to how people lived in the past.
5,000 years ago there lived a man named Ötzi, he was the leader of the Murkwell village at the bottom
of the Alps. Ötzi s parents who were the former leaders, died during an expedition to a far land by foot
to trade valuable stone tools. His parents left leadership of the Murkwell village to Özti when he was
about 20 years old; he was a caring, respectful, brave and honest leader. All of the people in the village
adored Ötzi and his ability to lead the village so well at such a young age.

mountain pass where the beast was located and to shoot it with a bow and arrow which was known to
kill everything and anything in the world with one shot. Özti was lucky to have heard about the story
of the bow and arrow that killed one of the largest and scariest creatures that ever existed. According
to the story, the bow and arrow was under the snow in a specific place called the Sunglow because the
sun glowed and shimmered in that spot. Everyone thought that this way just a myth and was fake but
Ötzi decided to go check for himself. When Ötzi got to the very spot that was called Sunglow, he

During the late 14th century until about the 16th century,...
During the late 14th century until about the 16th century, Italy and other European countries
underwent a time of rebirth of the Ancient Greek and Roman classics. This era was known as the
Renaissance. The citizens of Europe were surrounded by advancements in technology, music, and
culture. However, one of the most prevalent changes that is still in affect today is the newly founded
techniques in the arts. Artists began to think outside of the box, and they made some of the best
paintings of their time. They used different methods than artists from previous centuries had, including
classicism, secularism, humanism, and individualism. One of the greatest artists of all time,
Michaelangelo, is most famous for his Italian Renaissance work. ... Show more content on

Perspective was important during the Italian Renaissance because it made artworks look more real and
three dimensional. Perspective was a technique in which an artist would use lines to establish a
foreground, middleground, and a background. In centuries past, many of the artists works would look
flat because they didn t use perspective. In the PietĂĄ Mary looks farther away from the audience than
Jesus body does. At the same time, Jesus head takes a spot in the middleground of the artwork. He is
able to depict a Jesus foot to look like it is on top of or mixing with the dress that Mary is wearing.
This was important because in the past, many works of arts backgrounds would all mix together to
create a flat painting. In his sculpture, Michaelangelo uses perspective to give a more realistic feeling
to the artwork.
One of the most prominent developments in Michaelangelo s sculpture is his use of realism and
expression. In his sculpture, realism is shown through the creases of Mary s dress and veil and the
ways that the body s of the two subjects were molded. They were more 3 D and didn t look flat; they
showed more dimension than sculptures in the past had. At the same time, Michaelangelo also used
expression in both of the subjects. Mary looks like she is

Finanux Comparison
Microsoft Windows has long dominated the business and home desktop market but there is a new
contender on the block in the shape of LINUX that is beginning to compete with Microsoft Windows
on many different fronts. What is this LINUX and how does it compare and contrast with the
Microsoft Windows operating system?
Microsoft Windows has been around since 1983 and it s present incarnation, Microsoft Windows
2000, owes its roots to Windows 3.x, Windows 9x, and Windows NT. LINUX has been around since
1991, for all of its newness, is the latest incarnation of the UNIX operating system which first came
into existence in 1969.
Let s start by comparing the minimum hardware requirements specified by each vendor for both

In LINUX systems, files are routinely modified and manipulated by administrators and users. The
core commands used for manipulating and interacting with the operating system generally involve
manipulating files, directories and programs within. Manipulating files in LINUX is done via the
command line and LINUX has many powerful utilities that are used to describe and modify the
contents of files. These commands may seem trivial when used alone, but by connecting these
commands together you are able to create powerful text processing features. (1994). LINUX and
UNIX systems have a deep history using powerful tools for file manipulation and reporting. The grep
tool allows users to search within the contents of a file or files and return the string of interest. It is
very powerful to be able to run a quick loop and search within each text file for a particular phrase.
The tail command allows the user to view the last lines in a particular file. In this example, it is used to
return the last lines in a web server log.
You can see that someone clearly thinks there is a Microsoft IIS web server and is attempting to find
compromises. After examining, the information a system administrator would quickly block that
incoming segment. Not only can commands be used to examine the contents of files but also the files
themselves are routinely examined for possible changes or updates. This example shows how a simple
list command clearly shows the user

African Americans And Women During The Civil War Essay
As of the mid 19th century and on was when African Americans and women were beginning to gain
somewhat equal rights or were still disputing them. It is also well know that both have suffered in
vastly different manners, but in some cases are very similar in certain struggles. African American
men and women had to survive the terrors of the Ku Klux Klan in the southern states, managing life
with the Black Code looming over their every move. They were basically fighting for something that a
lot of people take for granted, their right to live as a regular citizen. White women on the other hand
had their fair share of discrimination as well, when it came to labor, labor organizations and, equal
wages. After the civil war the south was undergoing reconstruction so that the relations between
southern and norther citizen would continue as they did before, continued trade and commerce.
However the south was not taking their defeat with dignity, Black Codes were enacted by the newly
reconstituted southern state legislature to address the legal status of the freed slaves after the Civil
War. (Shi Mayer 4 ) These Black Codes were basically the south s attempt to subtly revive a form
slavery. If an offence was made by an African American he d be forced to pay off his offence with
labor because it was common that they d have a lack of funds to pay the fine in the first place. White

Reflection Of Education In High School
It s 1994 in Long Beach, California. Erin Gruwell is just starting her first teaching job, as freshman
and sophomore English teacher at Woodrow Wilson High School, which, two years earlier,
implemented a voluntary integration program. For many of the existing teachers, the integration has
ruined the school, whose previously stellar academic standing has been replaced with many students
who will be lucky to graduate or even be literate. Despite choosing the school on purpose because of
its integration program, Erin is unprepared for the nature of her classroom, whose students live by
generations of strict moral codes of protecting their own at all cost. Many are in gangs and almost all
know somebody that has been killed by gang violence. The Latinos hate the Cambodians who hate the
blacks and so on. The only person the students hate more is Ms. Gruwell. It isn t until Erin holds an
illegal discussion about a recent drive by shooting death that she fully begins to understand what she s
up against. And it isn t until she provides an assignment of writing a daily journal which will be not
graded, and will remain unread by her unless they so choose that the students begin to open up to her.
I like this movie and the way it transitions from bad to good in the way that Erin Gruwell faces a hard
time up against these students with harsh realities who don t give a damn about anyone but their own
kind. However, as time passes Erin starts to realise these students backgrounds and

Comparing Joe Clulow And Vassor
The manual transmission is thought to have been invented by Joe Clulow and Émile Levassor in the
late 19th century. This type of transmission offered multiple gear ratios and, in most cases, reverse.
The gears were typically engaged by sliding them on their shafts which required careful timing and
throttle manipulation when shifting, so the gears would be spinning at roughly the same speed when
engaged; otherwise, the teeth would refuse to mesh. These transmissions are called sliding mesh
transmissions or sometimes crash boxes, because of the difficulty in changing gears and the loud
grinding sound that often accompanied. Newer manual transmissions on cars have all gears mesh at all
times and are referred to as constant mesh transmissions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To shift to a higher gear, the transmission is put in neutral and the engine allowed to slow down until
the transmission parts for the next gear are at a proper speed to engage. The vehicle also slows while
in neutral and that slows other transmission parts, so the time in neutral depends on the grade, wind,
and other such factors. To shift to a lower gear, the transmission is put in neutral and the throttle is
used to speed up the engine and thus the relevant transmission parts, to match speeds for engaging the
next lower gear. For both upshifts and downshifts, the clutch is released while in neutral. Some drivers
use the clutch only for starting from a stop, and shifts are done without the clutch. Other drivers will
depress the clutch, shift to neutral, then engage the clutch momentarily to force transmission parts to
match the engine speed, then depress the clutch again to shift to the next gear, a process called double
clutching. Double clutching is easier to get smooth, as speeds that are close but not quite matched
need to speed up or slow down only transmission parts, whereas with the clutch engaged to the engine,
mismatched speeds are fighting the rotational inertia and power of the

Theme Morality In Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton
The author, Edith Wharton uses the theme morality, to describe the feelings of the characters. Wharton
displays the theme throughout the story with symbols, motifs, and irony; he wants to be able to
connect to the readers. The novel uses morality as a sense of principles between right and wrong.
Morality seems to have its up and downs in the story, as it does in real life. The author uses this
particular type of theme with characters to have a more realistic plot and to help the reader understand
of what is going on in the book. In the novel Ethan Frome morality is a constant obstacle faced with
the characters. Ethan principles are challenged throughout the novel with his feelings for Mattie. She
stood just as Zeena had stood, a lifted lamp in her hand, against the black background of the kitchen.
She held the light at the same level, and it drew out with the same distinctness her slim young throat
and the brown wrist no bigger than a child s. Then, striking upward, it threw a lustrous fleck on her
lips, edged her eyes with velvet shade, and laid a milky whiteness above the black curve of her brows.
Wharton, Edith. Ethan Frome. Dover Thrift Editions. 1991.pp.33. Ethan is able to see Mattie as the
position as his wife, despites Mattie and Zeena physical and age differences. Ethan faces the rights and
wrongs for his feelings, and often has to put his feelings on hold. It was almost as if the other face, the
face of the superseded woman, had obliterated that of the intruder. Wharton, Edith. Ethan Frome.
Dover Thrift Editions. 1991. pp.37. Ethan is constantly imagining Mattie as his wife, but every time
he does he feels guilty for even having the idea of replacing Zeena. The author shows the struggle
with Ethan s conscience and desires. The Red Glass Pickle dish represents the marriage of Ethan and
Zeena, so when it broke describes how the couples love is no longer shared. When Mattie breaks the
dish it symbolizes her coming between Ethan and Zeena marriage. Completely reassured, she shone
on him through tear hung lashes, and his soul swelled with pride as he saw how his tone had subdued
her. She did not even ask what he had done. Except when he was steering a big log down the mountain
to his mill he had

How Did Thomas Edison Contribute To Government
Thomas Alva Edison was born in Milan, Ohio, February 11, 1847. The Edisons came from Holland in
1730 first settling in Elizabethport, New Jersey. The Edisons had a long proclaimed history of long
lived males, with his great grandfather living until 104 and his grandfather until the matured age of
102. Back in the early 1800s, the Edison family fled to Canada among many others interested in the
loyalist movement that offered a 600 acre grant to those who moved to the province of Nova Scotia.

With a head too big for his body and a weak small body, Edison s doctors were worried he had brain
damage. Though Edison was horrid at school, he was an zealous reader and always had his nose in a
book. Edison also had a superb memory being able to clearly remember all the way back to his toddler
years. Edison was so lacking in what was needed of a student of his age that he was not allowed to go
to school for some time. Luckily his mother had the training and was able to give him a much higher
education than the public schools could provide at any given time. Though Edison loved to read, he
was aslo always interested in how things worked. Either the bridge or the train, Edison loved to watch
the world around him come together. As Edison grew into a man, the family moved from Milan, Ohio
to Port Huron, Michigan. While in Michigan, Edison s mother began to grow old and sick. Edison s
father began new work in the grain and feed distribution business. As he grew older, his father paid
him for each factual book he read and soon after Edison began his own laboratory of sorts. Edison had
a love for chemistry and once he had his hands on a book of chemistry experiments he completed
every experiment there was and labeled all his bottles of chemicals from the drugstore as poison so no
one would lay a hand on them. Realizing he had meager cash to spend on his experiments, he went to

Senior Dance Concert Review
The Senior Dance concert, 9 o clock showing consisted of seven dance pieces. The first piece was
called Heavy Dew , this piece was comprised of a six person group dance. The backdrop was a blue
shading. The sounds in this piece were waterfalls, and rainforest sounds. The movements made me
feel as though the dancers were creatures in a wilderness or a rainforest, it was fast paced. For the first
part of the performance the group of girls are dancing in front of the audience together, then as the
music turns to be more serious and intense, there is just one dancer on the stage. Then, once all the
dancers come back onto the stage, the music starts to soften and slow down again and the lights begin
to dim for the remainder of the performance. The second performance was a solo act given the title of
Love You, Possess Me. The title says it all. This was a very dark piece. The dancer was wearing an all
black lace dress. She gave off an impression of being a black widow. The movements were mostly on
the floor. The music was dim, and made me feel as though I was in a thriller film. The look on the
performer s face made me feel as though she was distant from everyone else, tragic, and apprehensive.
I enjoyed this piece the most out of all of them. The third piece was titled Unclothing The Elephant. It
consisted of seven performers. The music being played appeared to be a violin. All of the performers
were dressed in black and white attire. For majority of the performance the

The Pathophysiology Of Congestive Heart Failure
The Circulatory system is responsible for the transport and delivery of essential nutrients and
molecules required for proper cellular function including oxygen, proteins, and much more
(Silverthorn, 2013). The circulatory system also carries waste products to be excreted by the body by
other systems such as the urinary and respiratory system (Silverthorn, 2013). The main organ in the
circulatory system is the heart which will be concentrated on within this paper in order to understand
how the normal physiology of the heart relates to the pathophysiology of congestive heart failure,
The wall of the heart consists of many layers, the most internal being the endocardium these cells are

The heart is able to do this thanks to the specialized cardiac muscle it contains. The contraction of the
heart displays excitatory contraction coupling (EC coupling) similar to skeletal muscles except the
action potential in the heart originates spontaneously at the peace maker of the heart (Silverthorn,
2013). Contraction happens when a rapid depolarization occurs due to the influx and opening of
sodium voltage gated channels to raise the membrane potential toward the threshold value causing a
firing of action potential. The conduction and cardiac cycle starts at a resting distol state for both
ventricles and atriums and is initiated with the depolarization at the SA node (Silverthorn, 2013). This
causes an action potential which moves rapidly towards the AV node where the signal gets slowed
down (Silverthorn, 2013).When the signal reaches this point it causes a contraction/systole stage of
the right and left atriums. This causes blood to be pumped into the ventricles through the AV valves
(Silverthorn, 2013). The action potential then travels to the ventricles down the bundle branches out
towards the Purkinje fibers (Silverthorn, 2013). In terms of the cardiac cycle an isovolumetric
contraction occurs during the pause of the signal at the AV node allowing the AV valves to close,
followed by ventricular systole where the ventricles expel blood into circulation (Silverthorn, 2013).
The final stage in the cardiac cycle occurs between stimulations of action potential when the ventricles
and atriums are in diastole and the chambers fill with blood once again (Silverthorn,

Benefits Of Turmeric Tea
Turmeric Tea
Turmeric is a popular spice in Asian countries, including India, where it is used as a coloring agent in
a variety of curries and soups. It is also a common ingredient in the Western world and large amounts
of it can be found in mustard, though not many people realize it. Turmeric has far reaching health
benefits; unfortunately, they are often outweighed by the toxic ingredients with which the spice is
usually mixed. If you want to get the health benefits of turmeric without having to fill your body with
takeout curry or street hotdogs, turmeric tea is a good way to go.

The ceremonial brewing of oolong tea is referred to as gongfucha and can be quite a tedious affair,
seeing the leaves steeped multiple times before consumption is permitted.
Thankfully, you don t have to worry about following the exhausting rules of gongfucha at seven in the
morning, when you re bleary eyed and struggling to remain upright.
Oolong tea can be easily brewed by adding two teaspoons of tea for every 200 milliliters of water. The
water should not have reached boiling point, but should be a good 200 degrees Fahrenheit before the
leaves are added. The leaves should be steeped for ten minutes before drinking (maybe a little less,
depending on personal preference).
Acquiring teas from foreign countries can often prove a little pricy, but oolong tea is uniquely
economical. High quality oolong tea leaves can be used and reused, surviving multiple brewings
without any loss of flavor. In fact, the taste of oolong leaves is said to improve as more brewings
occur, allowing you to use one collection of leaves four or five times before moving

Ethical Principles
An Analysis of Ethical Principles in The Evaluation The term ethical , as I have come to apprehend it,
is not just conforming to putative standards of conduct, but dealing with what is good or bad and with
moral duty and obligation. Thomas A. Schwandt, a professor at the University of Illinois, notes that
while we can live in a world without standards and guidelines, we cannot live in a world without
ethics. Although, standards and guidelines have become prominent and are important guides in today s
evaluation process, a greater emphasis is laid on high ethical standards. Evaluators are faced with
challenging issues in which they are expected to act in ways that are consistent with the principles of
the company and epitomize exemplary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an Egoist, Evans would implement the standard system because it serves his best interest. Evans
concern is with the success of his company, and he is worried that not imposing this norm would cause
problems for the company in the long run. As Evan states, it would not give recognition for
exceptional performance and so effective SCC managers would probably vote with their feet,
confident... they could walk into another probably better paid job the same, or at the latest, the next
day. Although Evans is aware that his proposed actions may cost the company an effective manager,
he would overlook Somsak s feelings in hope that his subordinates and colleagues would respect his
new approach.
On the other hand, viewing the problem from a group relativist perspective, which focuses on the
expectations others have on our behavior; things would turn out differently than in the pervious
perspective. A group relativist believes that his best choice is one that supports the interest of the
group. A group relativist would ask himself if his actions relate to that of his group s norms. If his
actions are contrary to that of his group, then it is not accepted. Therefore, Evans would modify the
pervious changes he made to the system and upgrade Somsak because his fellow predecessors
considered it the common practice. As Denis Collins states, associating oneself to the ethical standard

My first goal became to develop and acquire a bank of formative assessments and diagnostic questions

Students that extend and apply ideas inappropriately elsewhere are overgeneralizing. Students that
have difficulty distinguishing between two concepts, or create hybrids of concepts, have partial
conceptions. Finally, students that have misinterpreted and internalized prior content have conceptual
misunderstandings. If an educator can identify the type of misconception, they can create better
tailored instruction.
In order to uncover the misconceptions my students had prior to teaching a new learning target, I
decided to administer short, diagnostic probes that put emphasis on explanations of their thinking and
reasoning (in place of an answer only response). I stressed that this was not graded, instead meant to
help me understand their thinking so I could plan, design, and provide instruction that would be much
more responsive to their needs. This was the first time I administered a formative assessment prior to a
lesson.
The first learning target probe (p 135) focused on uncovering any misconceptions prior to teaching
theorems about lines, angles, and triangles, such as vertical angles are congruent, measures of interior
angles of a triangle sum to 180, and the relationships between the interior and exterior angles of a
triangle. Specifically, I was looking to see if they recognized congruent and supplementary angle
relationships based on their logical reasoning of properties, or

Tristram Shandy Analysis
In Laurence Sterne s Tristram Shandy, Toby Shandy is often characterized as naĂŻve and innocent,
especially in references to matter of sex. Many, the readers as well as fellow characters, reason this to
be from the injury in which he received from the Battle of Namur . Through an analysis of the text and
research, I have concluded that the naĂŻvetĂŠ, innocence, and other contextual evidence associated with
Uncle Toby Shandy, actually points to Toby being a homosexual. As I mentioned before, I have
developed this theory through research, specifically a piece written by Jarred Wiehe called No Penis?
No Problem: Intersections of Queerness and Disability in Laurence Sterne s The Life and Opinions of
Tristram Shandy, Gentleman and Martin Rowson s factual evidence found from a Shandean Studies
seminar, where it was debated if Tristram Shandy should be placed within the genre of Gay Literature.
In addition, within the text the reader encounters a surplus of evidence, such as, Toby s modesty, his
ignorance of the females and sex, experiences within the military, his close companionable
relationship with Corporal Trim, the descriptions of his personality and behaviors, such as his Hobby
Horse , provided by Tristram Shandy, and the heterosexual norms and expectations of the setting/ time
period. In the beginning of the novel, I was eager to believe in the explanations that Tristram Shandy
was providing for his uncle s demure nature, such as his injury, but I soon became wary upon further
reading. The first encounter with evidence that causes doubt within the reader of Toby Shandy s true
sexual preference, was his modesty. Tristram describes it as,
More specifically, would be both the situation in which he admits of knowing next to nothing about
the female body or behaviors to his brother, Walter Shandy, and his shyness when mentioning the
affair that Aunt Dinah had. To begin, Tristram s example of Toby s embarrassment of the affair that
happened by a deceased Aunt Dinah, can make some sense if it was in reference to the scandalousness
of an affair , but Toby Shandy is more so offended by the fact that it was something sexual. Ironically,
Walter Shandy, the one who is familiar with the gender behaviors through

Concrete Project Report
Introduction
We were requested to write a report for a client that are looking to build a new parking garage in the
Bloemfontein area. The client also requsted from us to not just advise him/her on what type of
concrete to be used, but also to give him/her a broad understanding of the different types of concrete.
Some of the aspects that will be discussed in this report are as follows:
1. Special concrete and its application
2. Admixtures
3. Types of extenders
This report will also contain our detailed recommendation in the form of foundation, floor slabs,
columns and beams. It is important to look at the soil conditions and weather conditions for example
temperature and other factors that could have an negative effect on the concrete. Before doing the
design and classifying the concrete to be used a site investigation should be done and testes required
should be carried out. The design has a massive impact on the concrete that would be used. For the
purpose of this report I would assume a site with good soil and no clayed partials were found.
Before we start we should get a better understanding of what concrete is its positives and negatives its
strengths and its weaknesses.
Strength of concrete is dependent on a number of factors; one of the most important factors is the
cement water ratio. The lower the ratio is, the higher the final strength of the concrete would be.

Sustainable Tea at Unilever
op yo To survive and prosper over the long term, learn how to adapt your business model by making it
servant to society and the environment. Not the other way around.
Paul Polman, CEO, Unilever
In 2010 Unilever announced its commitment to a new Sustainable Living Plan , a document that set
wide ranging company wide goals for improving the health and well being of consumers, reducing
environmental impact, and, perhaps most ambitiously, sourcing 100% of agricultural raw materials
sustainably by 2020. Such a goal implied a massive transformation of a supply chain that sourced

India, for example, was a major tea producer and consumer, but the small scale of many of the farms
and the nature of local farming practices made certification a significant challenge. What should
Unilever do in such markets? Should Unilever hold fast to Rainforest Alliance certification or instead
work to implement incremental change through standards better suited for Indian practices? How
could they persuade hundreds of thousands of smallholders to adopt new farming methods in market s
where most tea production and consumption was local and Unilever was far from the dominant buyer?
op yo The second issue was whether and how Unilever could gain market advantage from its move to
sustainable tea. While the adoption of Rainforest Alliance certification appeared to have led to market
share growth in some Western markets, it was not clear either that this would continue or that the
concept of a sustainability message would resonate with consumers in developing markets like
Turkey, India, or Russia. How should Unilever market its sustainability efforts in emerging markets?
Beyond these two key issues several other smaller but also potentially important questions also
consumed Unilever s attention. The Unilever Sustainable Living Plan committed the company to

Muscle tissues all have elongated cells.
5. Now compare 3 features of the structure or organization of all three types of muscle that make them
different from each other and easy to identify. You need to describe THREE features and compare
them in ALL types of this tissue. Be sure to compare specific features you have observed as they

The appearance of their cells are all different. Skeletal are unbranched and parallel, smooth are spindle
shaped, and cardiac are branched and connected. They also vary in striations. In skeletal, they are
present and obvious. There are no striations in smooth. The striations are in cardiac but are very faint.
Their nucleus are also different. Skeletal have more than one nucleus. Smooth have just one nucleus
and cardiac varies.
Note: Since this is an exercise based on what you can observe in a microphotograph your descriptions
should involve structure only and not function or location, since these are not observable in these

The Role Of Feminism In King Lear
It is true that through the eyes of the modern woman, Shakespeare s portrayal of women can appear
misogynistic. Several of his famous plays (The Merchant of Venice, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet),
depict the women with a submissive and obedient attitude towards their husbands. However, the exact
opposite transpires in King Lear, even though there are many critics like Aleena Bonk for example,
who said that the women were portrayed as biased, misogynistic and (they) leave a bitter taste in the
mouth (Bonk 2). On the contrary, it is remarkable that the women in King Lear live in an extremely
patriarchal society and yet they hold the most power throughout the play. It is important to note that
the term feminism was not coined until the 19th century, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regan initially appears to be the slightly gentler, more hesitant sister, as she compels Goneril to think
on her actions a bit more before initiating a plot to kill the king. Regan is also less hostile in her
speech than Goneril, as she tries to sound respectful towards Lear whilst her intentions contradict her
words. Nevertheless, eventually Regan turns out to be equally bloodthirsty as Goneril, even
suggesting Gloucester should be hanged instantly before Goneril suggests the gruesome act of
gouging out his eyes. Just like Goneril, even though her speech is more passive, Regan has no
problem overpowering her father. When she does, her father obeys her; thus reversing the power men
have over women in a patriarchal society. While Regan also does not appear to love her husband,
which is proven by her action of taking Edmund as her lover shortly after her husband has died, the
duke of Cornwall is not at all like the duke of Albany. Cornwall abuses his power and seems to enjoy
causing pain. Nevertheless, he abides to his wife s orders as well. When Regan and Goneril plan to
gouge out Gloucester s eyes, they do not go through with this act themselves. Instead, they let
Cornwall do the dirty work, as they look on. This shows that the women give the orders and the men

Misogyny In Barometer Rising By Hugh Maclennan
The historical fiction novel of Barometer rising by Hugh MacLennan is a book that takes place in
Halifax, Nova Scotia in the early 20th century during the time of the first world war. Consequently,
many of the actions taken place within the novel and the atmosphere of the novel match both this time
period and the location in which the novel takes place. This 20th century atmosphere becomes
exceptionally apparent through the misogyny and hardships the female protagonist Penny Wain faces.
Penny Wain is described as a 29 year old attractive and highly intelligent women. However, due to

Blood Treatment Of Blood Transfusion Essay
Plasma, red blood cells, antigens, and antibodies are just some of the components of blood that have to
be studied before matching a donor and recipient for a blood transfusion. Blood transfusion is a
complex and long process that has a unique matching market of its own. In order to see if the blood is
a safe match, technicians have to check for compatible blood types (the most preferable is type O),
non matching antigens, and finally cross matching to see if the antibodies will attack the donor s cells.
All of this is done in a large market with blood from hundreds of thousands of donors. Due to the large
number of options and room for the match to be ineffective or be rejected, there are numerous
problems in this market. It is possible for there to be a mix up with the blood, or unknown factors
could arise where the donor and recipient end up being a bad mix. There is an arduous, difficult
process of making a match in this market, and this causes some problems that I will propose a few
solutions for. First, there are many terms involved with blood and transfusions that should be
understood before moving onto the substance of this essay. Some of the more important terms are
antigens, antibodies, ABO groups, and Rh. Antigens are proteins/carbohydrates that are able to be
recognized by our immune systems, then foreign antigens that the immune system detects are attacked
and destroyed by antibodies. Antibodies are present in everyone. They are molecules in the immune
system

What Are The Great Moments At St. Francis High School Service
Great moments are born from great opportunities. As a part of the Holy Cross family, we need to take
every opportunity to help each other. This helping is also known as the service program in St. Francis
High School. In the summer of 2013, I took an opportunity to experience the understanding of Holy
Cross and Catholic. I joined the vacation bible camp and taught kids what is catholic or what we
should do as a catholic. Those moments of my service program are indelible in my mind. On the third
day of my service at the vacation bible camp as a teen leader, there was a six year old kid came and
asked me a question after the mass. He asked me, Is God really going to hear my prayer? I was
surprised a small kid asking me a question that probably no kids of his age would ask. I was thinking
for a moment and trying to think how I should answer him. I gave him positive answer which is Yes .
The kid is confused for a moment and then asked, Are you sure? I know the kid was not expecting the
answer Yes again, so I gave him another answer. I told him told every prayer will be heard by God, but
God would choose the best plan for you even though the plan is not always what we want. After I
answered, he ran away with some other kids and started playing. I believed I did a good job answering
that question. I taught a catholic kid a deeper part of Catholic Christian. This is a great moment I

Executive Summary:
The cereal market is a booming industry. It has been around for over one hundred years and continues

This is because there are four large firms, Kellogg, General Mills, Post, and Quaker Oats, which

There are also a few small firms who are involved in the cereal industry as well. The cereal industry

companies are able to turn large profits as well. (Roy, Matthew) The cereal industry is very adamant
on using a differentiation strategy to make one s brand stand out in the minds of certain people. The
companies break down the public into different target markets; and then make products that will be
attractive to their target markets. Companies make different brands for young kids, teenagers, adults,
and people who are health conscience. Currently, there are 387 different brands of cereal sold in the
United States and each family is estimated to purchase 17 different brands per year. (O Connor, Amy)
Companies continue to brainstorm for new product ideas to attract the various market segmentations.
The cereal industry has only really worked on one pricing strategy, price discrimination. They have
used price discrimination by giving out tons of coupons to potential customers. Coupons are designed
so that customers can use them to buy the cereal of their desire for a lower price.

NAFTA is the worst trade deal maybe ever signed anywhere, but certainly ever signed in this country

Willa Cather s My Antonia
In her novel My Antonia, Willa Cather, while writing in a sexist time, calls attention to the power of
the female in life and society through Antonia, Lena Lingard, Tiny Soderball and Frances Harling and
accentuates and celebrates the significance of the matriarchal world by use of Jim Burden as the
narrator. Jim holds an enlightened consciousness of the female because, after spending most of his life
with these women, he sees how they started with nothing ended with a successful life. In a time when
women were expected to be subordinate to men, Cather s female characters defy the stereotype and
prove their self reliance and independence with the accomplishment of a prosperous life. The strength
of the female is primarily revealed to Jim through Antonia, whose determination and confidence show
to him that despite her struggles, she continues to give birth to multiple children which further
triumphs her challenges that led to successes. Since most women are accompanied by a male in life,
Lena proves that even with their absence, success can come from female independence. Frances
serves as a more obvious explanation to how females thrived in a non supported environment because
she has the same job as many men, but victoriously triumphs over them. By declining the conform to
the typical female role, Antonia, Lena, Frances, and Tiny advocate to the female character their
importance in life and society, showing that their absence would be virtually useless to males. Antonia

In a sense they are the complete opposite of the Cyclopes Odysseus encounters. Also, the Giants that
Gulliver encounters are rather gentle and nice creatures; the total opposite of the giant creatures
Odysseus encounters. These examples once again express how Gulliver plays the role of a mock hero
in this satirical piece.
On Gulliver s return home his total mindset of his home life have changed from when he had
previously left. Its not that his physical home or people in his life have changed, but rather a personal
change that he went through while on his final journey that landed him with the Houyhnmhnms.
Gulliver changed, and he looked at how uncivilized life was, but in reality everything was the same as
it always had been. When comparing this to the return home of a hero like Odysseus, personally
Odysseus was the same person and everything around him had changed. Odysseus was surprised to
see what his kingdom had become due to physical changes that surrounded him. Gulliver was
seemingly making a big deal of something that he had lived with for decades. When comparing it to

Pablo Picasso And George Braque
1. Pablo Picasso and George Braque founded cubism in the early 20th century in Paris. It was an
artwork to be considered as the first radical approach in expressing visual reality. According to Cubist,
any perception of an object was a composite of simultaneous and different perspectives. Cubism tries
to help one understand the world around them in a different way by changing their perspective on a
certain subject. It is an approach of art where a painter takes a real life object and changes it in a
completely different way to the way he or she views it in there mind and how they perceive it. Cubism
used geometric shapes to replace traditional forms. An example of this type of art form is Picasso s

One of the most famous Surrealists was the Spaniard Salvadore Dali, who subverted the sense of
reality in his painting by using near photographic detail in presenting a fantastic and irrational world.
One of his most famous artworks was the persistence of memory . It represented that time was fluid.
What motivated him to draw this picture was the Brie cheese that was melting in front of him while he
was having a picnic.
2. Technological achievements created a second stage of the Industrial Revolution that transformed the
human environment and led people to believe that their material progress would improve world
conditions and solve all human problems. The invention of electricity was a major new form of energy
that proved to be of great value since it could be easily converted into other forms of energy, such as
heat, light, and motion, and moved relatively effortlessly through space by means of transmitting
wires. In 1910, hydroelectric power stations and coal fired steam generating plants enabled entire
districts to be tied into s ingle power distribution system that provided a common source of power for
homes, shops, and industrial enterprises. Electricity procreated a whole series of innovative products
such as the incandescent filament lamp. This opened homes and cities to illumination by electric

Taking a Look at Calvin Coolidge
Calvin Coolidge
Calvin Coolidge, many young people have not heard the name Calvin Coolidge as they re growing up.
President Coolidge has earned the right of not being very known. He was known as Silent Cal because
of the fact that he never really talked that much and because of his quiet demeanor. Because of this, he
chose not to seek his second term. John Calvin Coolidge Jr. was born in the town of Plymouth Notch,
Vermont on the 4th of July of 1872 to John Coolidge Sr. and Victoria Josephine Moor Coolidge. John
Sr. was a very successful farmer who had also served in the House of Vermont and the Senate. He also
served in other local offices in Vermont. Victoria died when Calvin Jr. was 12 years old. Jr. also had a
teenage sister named Abigail Grace Coolidge but she unfortunately died several years later also.
Calvin s earliest family ancestor dating back into the American culture was also John Coolidge and he
dated his arrival back as early as 1630. His great great grandfather was also named John Coolidge and
served as an officer in the Revolutionary War. Now to talk about Calvin s education. You might
wonder where Silent Cal got his education, well that place is known as Amherst College, located in
Massachusetts. He pursued a law career and every apprenticed at a law firm in Northhampton,
Massachusetts. In 1897 he was admitted to the bar and opened his own law office in 1898. Ever heard
the saying opposites attract? Well that proves to be the case in the situation

development life cycle consists of the following stages 1. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is done through Software Requirement Specification (SRS), which consists of all the product
requirements to be designed and developed during the project life cycle.
3. Designing the product architecture: SRS is the reference for product architects to come out with the
best architecture for the product to be developed. Based on the requirements specified in SRS, usually
more than one design approach for the product architecture is proposed and documented in a DDS
Design Document Specification. This DDS is reviewed by all the important stakeholders and based on
various parameters as risk assessment, product robustness, design modularity , budget and time
constraints , the best design approach is selected for the product. A design approach clearly defines all
the architectural modules of the product along with its communication and data flow representation
with the external and third party modules.
4. Developing the product: In this stage of SDLC the actual development starts and the product is
built. The programming code is generated as per DDS during this stage. If the design is performed in a
detailed and organized manner, code generation can be accomplished. Developers have to follow the
coding guidelines defined by their organization and programming tools like compilers, interpreters,
debuggers etc. are used to generate the code. The programming language is chosen with respect to the
type of software being developed.

Analysis Of The Article Ending A Price Promotion
Ending a Price Promotion:
Reflecting It in One Step or Phasing It out Gradually
Description of the basic purpose/focus of the article and the research questions addressed Concisely
describe the purpose or goal of the research, including the primary research questions posed by the
authors, the primary variables under discussion, and why the authors believed this research is
important.
Numerous studies have been conducted on how price promotions have been proven to be profitable in
the long run. The greater the reward, the less effort required to obtain it, and the sooner it is obtained
after the behavior, the more likely the promotion will be influential (Peter Olson, 2013). The article

The author s believe that this research is significant because they see that a pricing tactic appears to
have marketplace potential.
Description of the procedure used Provide a clear overview of the methods used in the research such
as interviews, surveys, etc. Also include the number or respondents and the types of analysis
(including statistical analysis) that was involved.
Given the research between hi lo pricing, alternative pricing (SDD) and EDLP, There are 4 studies that
were used to examine the effectiveness of these tactics. In a theoretical framework, the first study
indicates steadily decreasing discounts generates higher future price expectations, leads to greater
anticipated inaction regret each of which affects purchase likelihood and generates more revenue than
hi lo or EDLP. The second study shows firsthand support that there are no negative perceptions for
employing SDD tactics effectiveness. Thirdly, the study examined the relativeness of hi lo pricing to
SDD tactics which resulted in revenues being higher when using SDD method. Finally, in the fourth
panel approach a scanner panel data was to uncover several instances of the effectiveness of the SDD.
This scanner allows companies for monitoring a number of stages in a purchase sequence (Peter

Essay on Osmosis in Onion Cell
The aim of the sixteenth of November experiments was to observe how three different solutions with
various sucrose concentration influenced osmosis in relation to three onion cells and the impact on the
cells structure. A small square of a red onion skin (membrane) was observed under a microscope at
high power (X40) magnification. The observation showed a large number of onion cells. The structure
of one onion cell had a general rectangular shape with a developed cell wall, which gives the
rectangular shape to the cell and a cell membrane just beneath it.
The observation under the microscope of a cell of an onion skin soaked for 15 minutes in distilled
water showed that the cell membrane was pressed against the cell wall. The cell ... Show more content

The lost of water from the vacuoles and cytoplasm pulled the cell membrane away from the cell wall.
The water was diffused from a hypotonic solution to a hypertonic solution. Because the water flowed
out of the cell by osmosis, the cell became more flaccid and then plasmolysed.
The observation under the microscope of a cell of an onion skin soaked for 15 minutes in a 0.5 molar
sucrose solution showed a cell membrane just beneath the cell wall. The cell wall had a rectangular
shape. See diagram 3 for sketch. The cell and its surrounding were in an isotonic solution. The two
solutions in the cell and out (0.5 molar sucrose solution) of the cell were homogenous. No net
movement of water and change in the cell structure was observed. The components of the solute and
solvent were evenly intermixed. The concentration of solute and solvent on either side of the cell
membrane was equalized. Because the onion tissue didn t get any water the cell was flaccid and
nonturgid.
Those three experiments showed that the way onion cells are dealing with the movement of water in
and out of the cell is by osmosis. That Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a membrane into a
solution having a greater solute concentration. The cell

Recruitment refers to the process of finding possible candidates for a job or function, undertaken by
recruiters. It may be undertaken by an employment agency or a member of staff at the business or
organization looking for recruits. Either way it may involve advertising, commonly in the recruitment
section of a newspaper or in a newspaper dedicated to job adverts. Employment agencies will often
advertise jobs in their windows. Posts can also be advertised at a job centre if they are targeting the
unemployed. Suitability for a job is typically assessed by looking for skills, e.g. communication skills,
typing skills, computer skills. Evidence for skills required for a job may be

Differences Of Education In The Working Class
Do you think your school system prepared you enough for the workforce you want to pursue. Their is
a correlation between an area s income to education. Those in the working class have different
attitudes of teaching children compared to the elite class. There are four types of schools based on
income, working, middle, upper, and elite class. The attitudes these classes give toward knowledge
and work teaching their students for the working class is teach information because it is required,
middle class is to learn how to get right answer and not understand why it s correct, upper class
teaches material and children know why they are learning, and the elite class prepares students to be
quality hard workers who stand by their work.
In the working class the type of work is following procedure. Teachers rarely explain why the work is
being done such as if it is connected to other assignments or what the purpose of the activity is.
Teachers often do not take advantage to the provided textbooks, thus not getting the best education as
possible if resources are not being used. The attitude toward teaching the students are to show them
how to solve problem, but with no explanation of why the material is important, and why solving
problem works in that order. The teacher of this class was helping a student with a math two digit
division problem and was showing an alternate method without explaining that it is a different way, At
this point a girl said that she had a faster way to do

easiest challenge in the world, but even with Rosita s carefully planned list, we still came up with $4

very best of our ability, I set out my work uniform and climbed into my bed. Since I was the one that
had arrived the most recent, I only have to share a room with one other person, who was alone before I
came along. Even though I was nowhere near home with a bunch of strangers who welcomed me into

few foul words later, I was on the curb. I trudged around in the snow for more hours than I can count
looking for a place to sleep. I long to go back to Rosita, but I don t think she ll even answer the door,
and I wouldn t either. Every place that had looked suitable had either been way too close to a building,
or way to near a deserted shop, which I wouldn t even slow down for. As soon as I found a place
where the buildings indented. I set down my backpack for a pillow, and my spare clothing as a
blanket. It wasn t until I was laying down that I realized I was sleeping on an ice patch. Despite all of
the safety I thought I had in previous nights, this was the worst. As I started to shed tears, I saw the

Comparing One Summer And When Everything Change
In One Summer 1927 and When Everything Changed, the authors are both showing the reader
different ways in which America was shaped over the years. The author of One Summer mainly tells
the men s role in history, while When Everything Changed focuses more on the Women s role in
history. Between these two time periods, there is a lot that took place. Some of the events included;
Charles Lindbergh and the flappers in One Summer and the Women s right movement and struggles in
becoming equal in When Everything Changed. By showing both the men s and women s side of each
story, the reader can come to the conclusion that men and women are equal when making history. By
making these points, the reader can identify with these two books and say that the ... Show more

were equal to what men were getting and women started running for office among other points that

1960 s, the world was changing. Modern day utilities we use today such as the washer and dryer and
instead of the ice box, the refrigerator was made popular. With those new conventional items.
American women cut their workload in half and they now had more time to do other things with their
time. Which led women to start to expand their views and think about college and working in the
workforce instead of being a stay at home mom. Women in the 1960 s did not necessarily go to
college to get an education. Instead, at the time the only thing on most women s minds was to get a
ring by the time they graduated. These women would most likely not doing anything with their
degree. Instead, they would just get married, have children and live the life a happy

Gold Rush Causes And Effects
Research Paper: The history and effect of The Gold Rush Gold rush is one of the significant event in
the history. In this project, I will introduce what was the major effects of gold rush in the California.
And how did that changed the people, economic, political and environmental effects. The Gold Rush
is a rapid movement of people to a newly discovered goldfield. Gold rush was arguably one of the
most significant events to build American history during the first half of the 19th century. Thousands
of gold miners traveled by the sea and over the land of San Francisco and the surrounding area. In
January 1848, James Wilson Marshall discovered gold along the American River. By the time, the
fountain of the gold was loaded on newspaper, but it didn t become a big event, most of people just
did not really believe the account of gold. The Gold rush occurred in May 1848. A storekeeper in
Sutter s cheek who is called Sam Brannan showed a bottle filled with gold dust and shouted that he
found a piece of gold from American River. So the residents of the city got a proof of the discovery of
gold. People who heard about the gold discovery started to gather in San Francisco s harbor. This is
the beginning of the gold rush. By the time, gold mining was a one of tough profession. Although
most people didn t make much money, a few prospectors got fabulously rich. Also, Gold rush made a
lot of Ghost Town. People rushed to the town when gold was discovered, but when the mining dried

How Did Roman Roads Build Bridges
Roman Roads and Bridges Introduction
The Roman road system, an intricate network of major as well as minor roads, spanned nearly 50,000
miles, allowed for quick, easy travel and military advantages, and served as a link between many
different centers of population in the Roman Empire. At first, the Romans developed roads for military
use only, utilizing them to gather troops quickly and transport resources to certain places during wars.
Soldiers were even charged with the task of constructing roads. Eventually, civilians replaced them in
this duty and even began using the roads as a means of travel from one place to another. Sometimes
roads needed to traverse rivers and other types of gaps in the land. It was at these obstacles that

Due to the costliness of paving a road its entire length, not all Roman roads had completely paved
surfaces. Some surfaces comprised dirt and others were made of gravel. Many roads even had more
than one surface. An example of this is the Via Appia which was not paved the entire way.
Fun Fact! Did you know that paving stones were preferred because of their durability, and the Romans
had two different methods of paving a road? The first method involved shaping the paving stones into
polygons and connecting them together. In the second method, the Romans formed rectangles out of
the stones and joined them at right angles.
Significant Aspects and Features of the Roman Roads
Camber: The camber was the slightly raised center of the road. This made the road useful during rain
and other kinds of weather because it caused water to flow off of the surface and into the drainage
ditches on the sides. As a result, the roads were easily maintained.
Artificial Ruts: Roads were fitted with grooves on their surfaces in order to steer carts in precipitous
and slippery areas.
Umbones: Umbones were curbstones that lay on either side of the

Procedure: Research the topic. Collect all materials needed to conduct the experiment. The first
experiment to be performed is the control test. During this time, it is optional to set up the video
camera in front of the setup so that the entire experiment can be recorded. Make sure all the water,
solutes, and equipment is at a steady room temperature. This is to ensure that temperature changes do
not drastically alter the outcome of the experiment. Pour exactly 2 ounces of distilled water into the
measuring cup. Transfer the distilled water into the boiling flask, making sure not to spill any of the
water. Add the boiling stones into the flask carefully. Insert the rubber stopper on top of the boiling

Then remove the flask using the heat resistant gloves. Carefully remove the thermometer and pull out

from the strainer and put them aside. Let all equipment sit for 10 minutes. Repeat steps 15 29 using 10
grams of salt, 15 grams of salt, and 20 grams of salt. Make sure to record the boiling points for each
concentration of salt in the lab notebook. For example, when the temperature steadies out during the
test using 10 grams of salt, note down the temperature as the boiling point reached using 10 grams of
salt. Do the same for the 15 grams of salt and 20 grams of salt. At the end of the salt test, there should
be 4 data points collected as shown in step 24. Once using salt as the solute is complete, repeat steps
15 30 using sugar in place of salt, then baking soda in place of salt. Make sure to collect the data
properly and in the same format and separate from each solute. The same format of recording the data
from Step 24 is used for each solute. Analyze the recorded

  • 2. The Charge Of The Light Brigade The poem Charge of the Light Brigade tells a story about 600 soldiers, who rode horseback, into the valley of death . They were obeying the command of the man in charge, and charged at the enemy forces that had been seizing their guns. All the soldiers knew that their commander had made a terrible mistake in judgment, but they did not get discouraged or down about it. They knew that the role of a soldier was to obey and not to make a reply...not to reason why, so they followed the orders and rode into the valley of death . They were shot at by canons from the right, left, and front of them, but they still boldly rode forward into the jaws of Death . The soldiers struck the enemy gunners with their sabres bare and charged the enemy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Benefits Of Net Neutrality Net Neutrality is the idea of being able to enjoy free speech, be involved in innovative processes, and not have unreasonable limits placed on one s internet usage is alluring reason to support net neutrality. Without net neutrality, big companies like Verizon, AT T, and Comcast which provide services to consumers so they can access the internet would have more control. The companies can put severe caps on the internet which basically would put limits on individual subscribers who are critical of them. They would charge enormous fees for the services so that internet access is available to only the wealthy. • 4. Essay On Family House Sales Introduction New one family house sales from January 1975 through October 2017 has certainly been a roller coaster ride. Unfortunately, the anticipation of climbing that giant hill and the exhilaration of flying down the other side with the occupant s hands in the air on a roller coaster does not possess the same sentiment when it comes to forecasting new one family house sales. While watching the numbers climb is exciting for economists, the downward decline in sales causes forecasters, economists and the market to throw their hands up in the air while screaming; What went wrong? A plethora of causal factors play a role in the incline or decline of the housing market. Unemployment, mortgage interest rate, disposable income, weather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 1 New One Family Houses Sold: United States, Thousands of Units, Monthly, Not Seasonally Adjusted (U.S. Bureau of the Census U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, 1963) See Appendix for complete data set ACF/Trend/Seasonality To determine which forecast model would best fit the NHS data, we must examine several items: correlation of the data, existence or absence of trend and/or seasonality and stationarity of data. Autocorrelation is the examination of the correlation of data between successive observations over time (Wilson, Keating, John Galt Solutions, 2009, p. 84). Figure 2 shows the autocorrelation factor (ACF) for the NHS data set. Because all the data is above the upper limit line, there appears to be a positive trend present for the 12 month forecast. Upon further examination, the ACF does not quickly fall to zero confirming a significant presence of trend. Seasonality can be assumed by looking at the sharp up and down movement of the data in figure 1. The data is considered stationary if the ACF is mainly contained within the upper and lower bounds as illustrate in figure 3. • 5. Otzi Research Paper In 1991 two hikers found a frozen body in a mountain pass in the Alps, on the Italian Austrian border in Europe. This brave leader who lived about 5,000 years ago didn t know that he would be an important clue to how people lived in the past. 5,000 years ago there lived a man named Ötzi, he was the leader of the Murkwell village at the bottom of the Alps. Ötzi s parents who were the former leaders, died during an expedition to a far land by foot to trade valuable stone tools. His parents left leadership of the Murkwell village to Özti when he was about 20 years old; he was a caring, respectful, brave and honest leader. All of the people in the village adored Ötzi and his ability to lead the village so well at such a young age. The Murkwell village was in war for the first time, ... Özti was lucky to have heard about the story of the bow and arrow that killed one of the largest and scariest creatures that ever existed. According to the story, the bow and arrow was under the snow in a specific place called the Sunglow because the sun glowed and shimmered in that spot. • 6. During the late 14th century until about the 16th century,... During the late 14th century until about the 16th century, Italy and other European countries underwent a time of rebirth of the Ancient Greek and Roman classics. This era was known as the Renaissance. The citizens of Europe were surrounded by advancements in technology, music, and culture. However, one of the most prevalent changes that is still in affect today is the newly founded techniques in the arts. Artists began to think outside of the box, and they made some of the best paintings of their time. They used different methods than artists from previous centuries had, including classicism, secularism, humanism, and individualism. One of the greatest artists of all time, Michaelangelo, is most famous for his Italian Renaissance work. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perspective was important during the Italian Renaissance because it made artworks look more real and three dimensional. Perspective was a technique in which an artist would use lines to establish a foreground, middleground, and a background. In centuries past, many of the artists works would look flat because they didn t use perspective. In the PietĂĄ Mary looks farther away from the audience than Jesus body does. At the same time, Jesus head takes a spot in the middleground of the artwork. He is able to depict a Jesus foot to look like it is on top of or mixing with the dress that Mary is wearing. This was important because in the past, many works of arts backgrounds would all mix together to create a flat painting. In his sculpture, Michaelangelo uses perspective to give a more realistic feeling to the artwork. One of the most prominent developments in Michaelangelo s sculpture is his use of realism and expression. In his sculpture, realism is shown through the creases of Mary s dress and veil and the ways that the body s of the two subjects were molded. They were more 3 D and didn t look flat; they showed more dimension than sculptures in the past had. At the same time, Michaelangelo also used expression in both of the subjects. Finanux Comparison Microsoft Windows has long dominated the business and home desktop market but there is a new contender on the block in the shape of LINUX that is beginning to compete with Microsoft Windows on many different fronts. What is this LINUX and how does it compare and contrast with the Microsoft Windows operating system? Microsoft Windows has been around since 1983 and it s present incarnation, Microsoft Windows 2000, owes its roots to Windows 3.x, Windows 9x, and Windows NT. In LINUX systems, files are routinely modified and manipulated by administrators and users. The core commands used for manipulating and interacting with the operating system generally involve manipulating files, directories and programs within. Manipulating files in LINUX is done via the command line and LINUX has many powerful utilities that are used to describe and modify the contents of files. These commands may seem trivial when used alone, but by connecting these commands together you are able to create powerful text processing features. (1994). LINUX and UNIX systems have a deep history using powerful tools for file manipulation and reporting. The grep tool allows users to search within the contents of a file or files and return the string of interest. It is very powerful to be able to run a quick loop and search within each text file for a particular phrase. The tail command allows the user to view the last lines in a particular file. In this example, it is used to return the last lines in a web server log. You can see that someone clearly thinks there is a Microsoft IIS web server and is attempting to find compromises. After examining, the information a system administrator would quickly block that incoming segment. Not only can commands be used to examine the contents of files but also the files themselves are routinely examined for possible changes or updates. African Americans And Women During The Civil War Essay As of the mid 19th century and on was when African Americans and women were beginning to gain somewhat equal rights or were still disputing them. It is also well know that both have suffered in vastly different manners, but in some cases are very similar in certain struggles. African American men and women had to survive the terrors of the Ku Klux Klan in the southern states, managing life with the Black Code looming over their every move. They were basically fighting for something that a lot of people take for granted, their right to live as a regular citizen. White women on the other hand had their fair share of discrimination as well, when it came to labor, labor organizations and, equal wages. After the civil war the south was undergoing reconstruction so that the relations between southern and norther citizen would continue as they did before, continued trade and commerce. However the south was not taking their defeat with dignity, Black Codes were enacted by the newly reconstituted southern state legislature to address the legal status of the freed slaves after the Civil War. (Shi Mayer 4 ) These Black Codes were basically the south s attempt to subtly revive a form slavery. Erin Gruwell is just starting her first teaching job, as freshman and sophomore English teacher at Woodrow Wilson High School, which, two years earlier, implemented a voluntary integration program. For many of the existing teachers, the integration has ruined the school, whose previously stellar academic standing has been replaced with many students who will be lucky to graduate or even be literate. Despite choosing the school on purpose because of its integration program, Erin is unprepared for the nature of her classroom, whose students live by generations of strict moral codes of protecting their own at all cost. Many are in gangs and almost all know somebody that has been killed by gang violence. The Latinos hate the Cambodians who hate the blacks and so on. The only person the students hate more is Ms. Gruwell. It isn t until Erin holds an illegal discussion about a recent drive by shooting death that she fully begins to understand what she s up against. And it isn t until she provides an assignment of writing a daily journal which will be not graded, and will remain unread by her unless they so choose that the students begin to open up to her. I like this movie and the way it transitions from bad to good in the way that Erin Gruwell faces a hard time up against these students with harsh realities who don t give a damn about anyone but their own kind. • 13. Comparing Joe Clulow And Vassor The manual transmission is thought to have been invented by Joe Clulow and Émile Levassor in the late 19th century. This type of transmission offered multiple gear ratios and, in most cases, reverse. The gears were typically engaged by sliding them on their shafts which required careful timing and throttle manipulation when shifting, so the gears would be spinning at roughly the same speed when engaged; otherwise, the teeth would refuse to mesh. These transmissions are called sliding mesh transmissions or sometimes crash boxes, because of the difficulty in changing gears and the loud grinding sound that often accompanied. Newer manual transmissions on cars have all gears mesh at all times and are referred to as constant mesh transmissions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To shift to a higher gear, the transmission is put in neutral and the engine allowed to slow down until the transmission parts for the next gear are at a proper speed to engage. The vehicle also slows while in neutral and that slows other transmission parts, so the time in neutral depends on the grade, wind, and other such factors. To shift to a lower gear, the transmission is put in neutral and the throttle is used to speed up the engine and thus the relevant transmission parts, to match speeds for engaging the next lower gear. For both upshifts and downshifts, the clutch is released while in neutral. Some drivers use the clutch only for starting from a stop, and shifts are done without the clutch. Other drivers will depress the clutch, shift to neutral, then engage the clutch momentarily to force transmission parts to match the engine speed, then depress the clutch again to shift to the next gear, a process called double clutching. Double clutching is easier to get smooth, as speeds that are close but not quite matched need to speed up or slow down only transmission parts, whereas with the clutch engaged to the engine, mismatched speeds are fighting the rotational inertia and power of the ... Wharton displays the theme throughout the story with symbols, motifs, and irony; he wants to be able to connect to the readers. The novel uses morality as a sense of principles between right and wrong. Morality seems to have its up and downs in the story, as it does in real life. The author uses this particular type of theme with characters to have a more realistic plot and to help the reader understand of what is going on in the book. In the novel Ethan Frome morality is a constant obstacle faced with the characters. Ethan principles are challenged throughout the novel with his feelings for Mattie. The first piece was called Heavy Dew , this piece was comprised of a six person group dance. The backdrop was a blue shading. The sounds in this piece were waterfalls, and rainforest sounds. The movements made me feel as though the dancers were creatures in a wilderness or a rainforest, it was fast paced. For the first part of the performance the group of girls are dancing in front of the audience together, then as the music turns to be more serious and intense, there is just one dancer on the stage. Then, once all the dancers come back onto the stage, the music starts to soften and slow down again and the lights begin to dim for the remainder of the performance. The second performance was a solo act given the title of Love You, Possess Me. The title says it all. This was a very dark piece. The dancer was wearing an all black lace dress. She gave off an impression of being a black widow. The movements were mostly on the floor. The music was dim, and made me feel as though I was in a thriller film. The look on the performer s face made me feel as though she was distant from everyone else, tragic, and apprehensive. I enjoyed this piece the most out of all of them. The third piece was titled Unclothing The Elephant. It consisted of seven performers. The music being played appeared to be a violin. All of the performers were dressed in black and white attire. The Pathophysiology Of Congestive Heart Failure The Circulatory system is responsible for the transport and delivery of essential nutrients and molecules required for proper cellular function including oxygen, proteins, and much more (Silverthorn, 2013). The circulatory system also carries waste products to be excreted by the body by other systems such as the urinary and respiratory system (Silverthorn, 2013). The main organ in the circulatory system is the heart which will be concentrated on within this paper in order to understand how the normal physiology of the heart relates to the pathophysiology of congestive heart failure, The wall of the heart consists of many layers, the most internal being the endocardium these cells are simple squamous epithelium cells which are in direct contact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The heart is able to do this thanks to the specialized cardiac muscle it contains. The contraction of the heart displays excitatory contraction coupling (EC coupling) similar to skeletal muscles except the action potential in the heart originates spontaneously at the peace maker of the heart (Silverthorn, 2013). Contraction happens when a rapid depolarization occurs due to the influx and opening of sodium voltage gated channels to raise the membrane potential toward the threshold value causing a firing of action potential. The conduction and cardiac cycle starts at a resting distol state for both ventricles and atriums and is initiated with the depolarization at the SA node (Silverthorn, 2013). This causes an action potential which moves rapidly towards the AV node where the signal gets slowed down (Silverthorn, 2013).When the signal reaches this point it causes a contraction/systole stage of the right and left atriums. This causes blood to be pumped into the ventricles through the AV valves (Silverthorn, 2013). The action potential then travels to the ventricles down the bundle branches out towards the Purkinje fibers (Silverthorn, 2013). In terms of the cardiac cycle an isovolumetric contraction occurs during the pause of the signal at the AV node allowing the AV valves to close, followed by ventricular systole where the ventricles expel blood into circulation (Silverthorn, 2013). The final stage in the cardiac cycle occurs between stimulations of action potential when the ventricles and atriums are in diastole and the chambers fill with blood once again (Silverthorn, ... Many, the readers as well as fellow characters, reason this to be from the injury in which he received from the Battle of Namur . Through an analysis of the text and research, I have concluded that the naĂŻvetĂŠ, innocence, and other contextual evidence associated with Uncle Toby Shandy, actually points to Toby being a homosexual. As I mentioned before, I have developed this theory through research, specifically a piece written by Jarred Wiehe called No Penis? In the beginning of the novel, I was eager to believe in the explanations that Tristram Shandy was providing for his uncle s demure nature, such as his injury, but I soon became wary upon further reading. The first encounter with evidence that causes doubt within the reader of Toby Shandy s true sexual preference, was his modesty. Tristram describes it as, More specifically, would be both the situation in which he admits of knowing next to nothing about the female body or behaviors to his brother, Walter Shandy, and his shyness when mentioning the affair that Aunt Dinah had. Due to the large number of options and room for the match to be ineffective or be rejected, there are numerous problems in this market. It is possible for there to be a mix up with the blood, or unknown factors could arise where the donor and recipient end up being a bad mix. There is an arduous, difficult process of making a match in this market, and this causes some problems that I will propose a few solutions for. First, there are many terms involved with blood and transfusions that should be understood before moving onto the substance of this essay. Some of the more important terms are antigens, antibodies, ABO groups, and Rh. Antigens are proteins/carbohydrates that are able to be recognized by our immune systems, then foreign antigens that the immune system detects are attacked and destroyed by antibodies. Antibodies are present in everyone. They are molecules in the immune system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. What Are The Great Moments At St. Francis High School Service Great moments are born from great opportunities. As a part of the Holy Cross family, we need to take every opportunity to help each other. This helping is also known as the service program in St. Francis High School. In the summer of 2013, I took an opportunity to experience the understanding of Holy Cross and Catholic. I joined the vacation bible camp and taught kids what is catholic or what we should do as a catholic. Those moments of my service program are indelible in my mind. On the third day of my service at the vacation bible camp as a teen leader, there was a six year old kid came and asked me a question after the mass. He asked me, Is God really going to hear my prayer? I was surprised a small kid asking me a question that probably no kids of his age would ask. I was thinking for a moment and trying to think how I should answer him. I gave him positive answer which is Yes . The kid is confused for a moment and then asked, Are you sure? I know the kid was not expecting the answer Yes again, so I gave him another answer. I told him told every prayer will be heard by God, but God would choose the best plan for you even though the plan is not always what we want. After I answered, he ran away with some other kids and started playing. I believed I did a good job answering that question. I taught a catholic kid a deeper part of Catholic Christian. Jim holds an enlightened consciousness of the female because, after spending most of his life with these women, he sees how they started with nothing ended with a successful life. In a time when women were expected to be subordinate to men, Cather s female characters defy the stereotype and prove their self reliance and independence with the accomplishment of a prosperous life. The strength of the female is primarily revealed to Jim through Antonia, whose determination and confidence show to him that despite her struggles, she continues to give birth to multiple children which further triumphs her challenges that led to successes. Since most women are accompanied by a male in life, Lena proves that even with their absence, success can come from female independence. Frances serves as a more obvious explanation to how females thrived in a non supported environment because she has the same job as many men, but victoriously triumphs over them. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lost of water from the vacuoles and cytoplasm pulled the cell membrane away from the cell wall. The water was diffused from a hypotonic solution to a hypertonic solution. Because the water flowed out of the cell by osmosis, the cell became more flaccid and then plasmolysed. The observation under the microscope of a cell of an onion skin soaked for 15 minutes in a 0.5 molar sucrose solution showed a cell membrane just beneath the cell wall. The cell wall had a rectangular shape. See diagram 3 for sketch. The cell and its surrounding were in an isotonic solution. The two solutions in the cell and out (0.5 molar sucrose solution) of the cell were homogenous. No net movement of water and change in the cell structure was observed. The components of the solute and solvent were evenly intermixed. The concentration of solute and solvent on either side of the cell membrane was equalized.
