Human Nature Of Nature
Man kinds biggest question in life is about our purpose and place on earth. Human civilizations
throughout time have struggled with understanding nature and society s purposes in nature, which
often stems from responsibility, coexistence, and population control concerns for humanity as well as
animal kind. Several wolf species have faced persecution and sever lost of habitat because of humans.
Man kind s treatment of varying wolf species clearly stems from people s attempt to balance
responsibility, coexistence, and population control, but failing miserably. However, human
civilizations recently begun to intensely attempt to be responsible with nature, coexist with other
inhabitants of nature, and ethical population control for animals with the use of education and
advancements in technology. Human civilization s technologies have a purpose and place on earth in
which humanity is morally and ethically responsible for the environment and animals of Earth that
require coexistence and ethical population control intervention from mankind. Advancements in
technology cause an awakening of awareness for man kind s responsibility towards humans own
natural surroundings, awareness of human impact on those surroundings, and human s impact on other
inhabitants. Recent advances in remote sensing technology, and the processing of remotely sensed

David and Goliath Analysis Essay
David and Goliath Analysis In the story David and Goliath there is a great lesson to be learned. The
story shows that you should never underestimate your opponent and be prepared for anything. David s
own intellect and knowledge of his own abilities enabled him to become the smaller, but stronger
opponent. It all comes down to who is the better leader. David was a young shepherd boy who
watched over the sheep while feeding and keeping them safe from the lions and bears. While watching
the sheep David would spend many moments speaking to God and playing a harp. David s brothers
were at the battlefield and one day he was sent to the battle lines by his father to bring back news of
his brothers. (Fairchild, 2012) David was not afraid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Goliath laughs at the size of David while David is confident with God by his side. David then uses his
sling shot to launch a stone at Goliath s head which knocks him down on his face. The giant fell
allowing David to take his sword and behead Goliath with it. David took advantage of Goliaths
mistakes. He underestimated David s ability and failed to move out of the way of the rock. If you are
prepared for all obstacles and keep an open mind you are more likely to come out victorious. David s
own intellect and knowledge of his own abilities made Goliath the smaller, but stronger opponent.
This story can be related to the difference between WW1 and WW2. During WW1 trench warfare was
used. Trench warfare is a ditch dug out of the ground to give troops protection from the enemies. The
soldiers used machine guns, mustard and chlorine gases and smokeless gunpowder to ward off the
enemy. Machine guns were the main weapons used by soldiers. However they needed 4 6 men to man
them (Tasker, 2012) and had to be positioned on a flat surfaces. When the mustard and chlorine gases
were released the soldiers had to take great precaution to not breathe it in because the result is
immediate death. These trenches also carried many diseases and rats making it a harsh condition for
soldiers. By the time of WW2 also known as the Cold War the atomic bomb was invented. The atomic
bomb has the ability to take out an entire city. Russia and the U.S. achieve nuclear equality

A Hero s Journey Behind A Seagull
Guido was a seagull that grew up on the wrong side of the tracks in Aberdeen, Scotland. This area was
not an ideal setting to raise a family of seagulls, however, his parents did the best they could with what
they had. His parents were poor and had to beg to have enough food to feed their flock, but young
Guido did not know any different. He always had food and shelter while his world remained small and
familiar. As Guido started to mature, he met other seagulls in his neighborhood. He was so excited, as
he finally had something that he could call his, and that was his friends. He became close friends with
another seagull named Tony. Tony and Guido became the best of friends and could always be seen
playing, walking and flying around the park. It was a friendship that would certainly last a lifetime. ...

Guido then rushed the store and grabbed the crisp and then, he heard something go terribly wrong on
his way out of the store. The store owner caused such a disturbance with his swatting, that his last
swing, hit an old woman in the head. Due to the force of the broom, she screamed and fell into an
entire row of candy and cookies knocking the once neat shelves, on the floor. The store owner paused
to help the old woman that had just been knocked over, and Al saw his chance to head to the front of
the building. Al saw Guido and the others standing outside the store with the bag of crisps. As Al
finally cleared the store he met the other three, and the four proceeded straight to Luis to prove they
could do it. Suddenly with all of the commotion, they became hungry, and decided to eat the bag of
crisp. Luis encouraged them to move away from the store for fear the store owner would see them.
They did just that and placed the bag of crisp on the

Literary Devices In Shadow House
Coming back to the idea of the messages, Shadow House is called a couple names that all have the
initials D.L. They were all close to the name Delphina Larkspur. Nobody knows why. Also, they all
got their message from their most desired thing or person. For example, Poppy always wanted a
family, and she got her letter from her aunt . Marcus always wanted to continue his dream of being a
music prodigy, and he got his letter from a music school. Azumi just wants to get away from where
she lives (the forest her sister died in), and she looked up schools she could go to so she could get
away and forget her sister s death. The only school that came up was The Larkspur School. Dash and

At first, Ms. Tate (the person who looks over the kids at the orphanage) looks up the name of the
person who wrote Poppy the message, Delphinia Larkspur, and she says I can t find a thing about a
Delphinia Larkspur (Shadow House, Poblocki, Page 9). Once they get there, they discover that it is
haunted. There are children in these masks that are trying to kill all of the new kids. They also find out
many things like the haunted house can move it s rooms and hallways and furniture and the kids in the
masks all have something in common with the new kids. This thing that they have in common is like a
curse that is making the kids in the masks trapped in shadow house. This is why the kids in the masks
are trying to kill the new kids, so they don t have to live with the curse anymore and so the new kids
take their places. Also, they realize that Dylan was killed by Dash accidentally in the past, so Dylan
was just his imagination. The last three things they realized was that the girl in the mirror was trying
to help Poppy when Poppy thought that the girl in the mirror was evil. And that if they take off the
masks of the kids in the masks and make them look at another masked kid, it breaks the curse for that
kid. Also, when Marcus plays his music, it hurts the masked kids for some reason. I believe that all of
these things are very important because it shows many different ideas/themes that the story has that

Analysis Of The Book Picks Up Again
Below, the original transcript of the book picks up again; written with virtually zero knowledge of A.I.
technology. It shows the demonic involvement with The Mark of The Beast.
What if the Mark of the Beast was something super natural? Something directly linked to satanic
forces? A blend of technology wedded together with demonic possession? What if the delusion was so
great that The Antichrist and the False Prophet convinced the world by their signs and wonders that
humanity could become gods, and live forever simply by taking the Mark of the Beast? Are there
other clues that may suggest that The Antichrist will try to pull off the greatest deception of all time?
Notice:
Then the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from heaven which had fallen to the earth; and the key
of the bottomless pit was given to him. 2 He opened the bottomless pit, and smoke went up out of the
pit, like the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke of the pit. 3
Then out of the smoke came locusts upon the earth, and power was given them, as the scorpions of the
earth have power. 4 They were told not to hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree,
but only the men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 And they were not permitted
to kill anyone, but to torment for five months; and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion

Examples Of Historical Allegory In Tv Chandran Films
Historical allegory in TV Chandran Films
According to Ismail Xavier, the most interesting instances of allegory are those in which the surface of
the text either gives unsatisfactory answers to readers interrogations or remains overly enigmatic, thus
including a sense of recognition of the opacity of language and mandating the search for the concealed
meaning. Apart from mythical narratives, we are all familiar with fragmentary utterances, apparently
interrupted messages, suggestive juxtapositions of images that would seem enigmatic or completely
illogical If our reading was restricted to what is literally there on the surface. The prestige of
allegorical exegesis derives from its claim of solving a textual problem, of an illuminating the crucial
aspects of the text that are at the root of enigmas (Miller Stam, 2008). Keeping this in mind, the
researcher has gone through the usage of historical allegories in the films selected for the study, and

Analysis Of George Orwell s 1984-Personal Narrative
The Kingdom of Sienna was beautiful place. The bustling streets were filled with shops, eateries, and
beautiful parks for the citizens and sightseers. In the center of it all was the castle. The huge castle
would put any mansion to shame; the courtyards and numerous towers made it captivating to any
passerby. Unfortunately this is not where our story begins. We must first venture out of the city to the
nearby rural outskirts of Sienna. Not many people live here, which is quite a shame. Beautiful flora
and fauna cover this area; it all serves as inspiration for poor old Winston. Winston was once a drifter
who settled here. With no family or friends, he spends his time writing poetry about nature, but the

The Cultures Of The French And The Micmac Indians
When Europeans encountered the Native Americans, the encounter was fraught with difficulties for
both sides, for the Native Americans more so than the Europeans. Europeans conquered the Native
Americans, forced them into labor, and spread diseases which the Native Americans had no resistance
to. In addition to this the Europeans considered themselves superior to the Native Americans. Despite
this, the Europeans and Native Americans, both had things the other wanted and so they often engaged
in trade with each other. However, the Native Americans thought that, despite not having the luxuries
the Europeans had, they were better off than the Europeans. This sentiment is exemplified in Your
People Live Only Upon Cod by French priest Chrestian LeClerq who was traveling with the Micmac
Indians. It is a documented response by an unknown Micmac leader to European, particularly French,
claims of superiority. In analyzing this document, we will find that the cultures of the French and the
Micmac were vastly different. We will also discover what the Micmac and the French thought of each
other. To begin, we must first talk about the various comparisons that the Micmac chief makes in Your
People Live Only Upon Cod . The first comparison is that of the living arrangements and the
differences between the French and the Micmac when it came to this. According to the Micmac chief

Vincent Van Gogh And Salvador Dali
Van Gogh, Starry Night (1889) / Salvador Dali, The Persistence of Memory (1931), are two paintings
that come from a distinct time period. The two movements share a common motivation and reject the
interest of observing the world, the artists instead looked into their memories and emotions in order to
connect with the viewer on a deeper level. Both the Post Impressionist and Surrealist represent reality
as a reflection of the creative potential of the unconscious mind, and inner self.
Post Impressionist artists were influenced by the Impressionism movement, but rejected its limitations
and embarked on their own artistic styles which were more spiritually and emotionally based than
impressionist work. They wanted to portray emotion and intellect as well as the visual imagery.
Vincent Van Gogh was a Dutch Post Impressionist artist whose work is known for its vivid colors and
emotional impact. Although he sold only one painting during his lifetime, Van Gogh now is one of the

Theories Of Albert Bandura
The Theories of Albert Bandura
I chose to research Albert Bandura. Albert is a contemporary psychologist specializing in development
and educational psychology. A lot of his work revolves around the social learning theory. He is one of
the most widely cited psychologists of all time. He was born in Alberta, Canada in a small town of
Mundare. He was the youngest of six children, two of his siblings died when they were young one
from a hunting accident and the other from the flu. (goodtherapy.org.llc)
Albert Bandura was influenced by behaviorism while at the University Of Iowa where he earned his
MA and his PhD. In the early 1950s, he developed his own Theories called reciprocal determinism, ...

The many different variations of the tests that Bandura carried out, showing the model rewarded for
their behavior, showing them punished for the same behavior, and with no consequences for their
behavior, allowed him to establish that there is certain steps involved in the modelling process.
1) Attention, the more attention people pay the more they learn, if a model is likable, attractive and
seems competent then you re more likely to pay attention.
2) Retention, you must be able to remember what you have seen, this is where imagery and language
are important, so that you can copy the behavior.
3) Reproduction, being able to reproduce the behavior, (it s one thing to watch someone doing
something, but another to actually have the ability to reproduce what you ve seen for yourself).
Social learning theory of Bandura stresses the importance of observing and modelling, behaviors,
attitudes, and emotional reactions of others. (Bandura 1977) states: Learning would be exceedingly
laborious, not to mention hazardous, if people had to rely solely on the effects of their own actions to
inform them what to do .
4) Motivation, you need to have some reason to want to do something. Bandura gives a number of
reasons for this, past reinforcement, (traditional behaviorism) promised reinforcements, (incentives)
vicarious reinforcement, recalling the model being reinforced, this is considered to be what causes us
to learn, although Bandura believes it s more a case of, causing

Jacksonian democrats helped create a better America and because of this they believed themselves to
be protectors of the Constitution. The democrats believed they represented and followed the views of
the average man and believed that everyone had equal opportunity. Even though their view about
themselves was correct about political democracy, economic opportunity and individual liberty they
did not always protect the constitution, and instead went against it at times, in order to reform.

During the 1820 to 1830 white male suffrage took place and it was the first step towards the rise of the
common people in politics. To increase this the rise Jackson supported two party system which helped
create a more democratic America and people with different/similar views could support and work
together for one purpose. This also helped bring people together, which got them more involved in
politics. Working men at first didn t join because they were poorly treated by the aristocrats who
controlled majority of the government, and the people felt as if there was no space for them to try in
politics unless they were friends with a person in power. Jackson got people to pay more attention in
politics due to his past of being a commoner who rose the ranks and also because of the many
emotional speeches that he gave which impacted, and persuaded many Americans to pay attention to
the government. After all this we saw the change, because voters increased, which meant more
Americans were involved in politics. Even though the spoils system was undemocratic, Jackson used a

Risk Mitigation Plan Based On Inputs Provided
DLIS risk manager and team will now be responsible with developing a risk mitigation plan based on
inputs provided by said team. Funds have been allocated for the plan due to the importance of risk
mitigation to the organization. Thus, senior management is committed to and supportive of the project
(ITT Technical Institute, 2015). Documentation, training, policies and procedures are helpful when
creating, testing and implementing a new risk mitigation plan. Documentation is extremely helpful as
it gives information on where the company was before the new plan was created, where the company
will be once the plan has been implemented and where the company will be in the future if the plan is
followed. Documentation also provides details for management and allows for easier troubleshooting
methods. Training of all staff is crucial if a plan is to succeed as the least trained individual is the
company s worst enemy. Training provides up to date information on new security measures as well as
what to do lists that all employees can follow in the instance of any issues. Policies and procedures
within a risk mitigation plan are set in place to achieve the most current security methods that any

Sustainable Agriculture Vs. Traditional Agriculture
Hey today I will be talking about why I choose sustainable Agriculture and go against Traditional
Agriculture. First I ll give you the definition or what traditional and sustainable agriculture
are.Traditional Agriculture is an old fashion way of agriculture. Sustainable Agriculture is a newer
way. Also the definition for Agriculture: is a way of farming and practicing a way of producing wool
or food. The reason that I choose Sustainable is because it doesn t damage a lot like traditional
agriculture does. But that s my personal opinion. I will tell you why I think Sustainable is better and
what advantages it has.
A way that Traditional agriculture damages the environment is by killing the topsoil and subsoil. Also
it kills pest that are not harmful for the crops. An example would be ladybugs who are affected when
the pesticide from the plants runoff and go to the ladybugs habitat and get on their food and that s how
traditional affects them. Also traditional agriculture uses a lot of chemicals. It also affects different
species of birds. It is also harder to harvest than sustainable. It can even affect us, when the level is
high on the plants the higher is the chance of getting ill , like cancer. So people who live close to these
farm lands that use traditional agriculture have a chance of having cancer going through their family
generations.
Now sustainable has more advantages. Some advantages that it has is that it produces healthy crops.
Other advantages that it

Disadvantages Of Membrane Distillation
As time goes by, the fresh water supplement for living on the earth planet will become a serious
problem [1 3]. In addition, the Middle East is mentioned as one of the poorest regions in all over the
world in terms of water resources with less than 1% of the total available global freshwater per capita
[4, 5]. Therefore, one of the strategic options to satisfy the current and future request for fresh water in
countries established around Gulf is to build up desalination units. So, immediate need has arisen to
construct economic units for water desalination. Nowadays, it has been proved that membrane
separation processes have several advantages for desalination and water reuse of contaminated
resources in comparison to the conventional separation methods [1, 6 8]. ... Show more content on

MD is a thermally driven separation process that utilizes a hydrophobic, membrane as a contactor
media between two fluids kept at different temperatures where the separation is obtained by the mass
transfer of the vapor phase. The driving force of the process is given by a partial vapor pressure
difference that caused from the temperature difference [13 17]. Two advantages of MD are, the
process performance is not highly affected by high feed salinity as see water, and has the theoretical
ability to reach 100% salt rejection [13, 18, 19]. There are commonly four types of membranes
arrangements for MD process: Direct Contact Membrane Distillation (DCMD), Vacuum Membrane
Distillation (VMD), Air Gap Membrane Distillation (AGMD), and the Sweeping Gas Membrane

on the other hand water gap showed higher thermal efficiency and less internal heat loss in
comparison to AGMD [18, 25]. Therefore, these two arrangements are commonly used for the see

The Diversity Of Soil Invertebrates
Introduction: The diversity of soil invertebrates is very important to our ecosystem, because most soil
invertebrates are responsible for key soil processes such as nutrient recycling, nutrient retention,
formation of soil structure, and decomposition rates. Invertebrates are one of the most dominant
groups of animals in the world. Recent studies show that animals may constitute as much as 23% of
the total diversity of living organisms (Lavelle et al., 2006).
Common soil invertebrates include arthropods and nematodes. These soil invertebrates provide major
ecosystem services. For example, ants, dung beetles, ground beetles, earthworms, and slugs aid in
seed dispersal, which is important because seed dispersal is known to affect food production and
nutrient recycling as well as decomposition rates. Bees, butterflies, moths, and ants aid in pollination.
These invertebrates are very important because about three fourths of all plants are pollinator
dependent and insects tend to provide most of the animal pollination globally. Without pollinators
plant species would be more susceptible to extinction. In agricultural systems, invertebrate pollinators
are responsible for the successful production of vegetables and fruits that maintain livestock
production. Nematodes, annelids, and arthropods aid in decomposition (Prather et al., 2012)

Sphinx Of Giza Essay
A lot of people become amazed when they see how majestic the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx are.
Have people ever thought of how or why those huge monuments were built? These structures, which
had an important role in history, now become a great form of tourism for Egypt. There are a lot of
mysteries regarding the pyramids and the Sphinx, and many humans may not understand some of
these things. Why is the peak of the Pyramid of Giza not completed? Or why isn t Khufu s body in his
burial chamber? Not all of those questions have a correct answer. The Great Sphinx and the pyramids
of Egypt have existed since thousands of years ago and were built by Ancient Egyptian Kings mostly
to honor and symbolize themselves. Or do others believe someone else built them and for another
reason? The Great Sphinx of Giza, believed to be a national symbol of Egypt, was built to honor and
symbolize Egypt s King during those times. It was built in the Old Kingdom near Cairo in Egypt,
during King Khafre s reign. The people believe that the Sphinx s head contains their King s face,
Khafre s. Still other theories suggest that King Khufu might have been the one to build the Sphinx
with his face on its head. This fierce looking creature is really a combination of the head of a woman

My Youngest Daughter s Wedding Reception
My youngest daughter s wedding reception was on Sunday. I had to pick up the cake at 10:30 AM that
morning, and dutifully I was on my way. The local talk radio station was doing a Sunday morning
garden program. I lasted about 4 minutes with that. My new iPod does not fit my older iPod setup so
well, so I was forced to slip back to frequency modulation for something to listen to. Classic rock was
thankfully there to save me from myself.
The first tune played was Billy Idol s Rebel Yell. Yeah, I yelled a lot. I m not a huge fan of pretend
tough guys from the 1980 s with bleached, spiked hair and wearing fingerless gloves ya know for that
I m a pretend biker look?
Following on Billy s heels was another Billy Billy Joel. Okay Piano Man, go find a lounge
somewhere. Next up in the hit parade was the Police Every Step You Take. The only Police/Sting
songs I can stomach are of course Roxanne, and Message in a Bottle, and none too much of that.
When Sting finished serenading me I figured I might get lucky and have a goody come my way, but
no, it was not to be. Of all the Pink Floyd catalog I only have one that I really just do not care for The
Wall. Guess what Floyd song WKLR played at that very moment? Yep . . . hey, teacher, leave them
kids alone . . . . Thankfully I turned into my Mom s neighborhood where the shower was being held.

Lennie and George Relationship in Steinbeck s Novel Essay
In this chapter of the novel, Steinbeck uses a lot of visual elements, strong dialect,
symbolism, tone and theme. Much of these elements are shown right from the beginning of
the chapter when the two men, Lennie and George arrive at the bunk house. Right from the
first sentence, the tone and imagery is already set off by introducing the walls [being]
whitewashed and the floor unpainted.(p17) In addition, he also introduces the bunks, also
re enforcing the tone since the bunks are described as ...burlap sack of straw that was a
mattress.(p18) At this point, George is realizing that not only does he have challenges by
dealing with George, but he also has to live in this environment where things are not ... Show more

In addition to the theme of disposability, the theme
of social isolation is also quite apparent. For example, when the boss was getting suspicious of George
answering all of Lennies questions by commenting that Lennie [wasn t] much of a
talker, is he?(p21) and also by asking then why don t you let him answer? What are you trying
put over?(p21) If the boss found out then the truth about Lennie, he would have immediately
asked them to leave. Furthermore, the theme of social isolation is vividly displayed with Crooks,
just because of his skin color, gives the boss rights to give the stable buck hell (p19) whenever
he is upset at something.
The whole message Steinbeck is trying to convey through this chapter in the novel is
basically this ranch is like a mini society. Anyone in this society can hold power, and when they
get into that position of power over others, they use it in irresponsible ways. For example even
though the boss is the top of the social heirchy, his son Curley seems to have more power over
the workers there than he does. Also, because of his position in the social pyramid , Curley can
tangle with any one of the workers without any troubles, however if Lennie, for example,
tangles with Curley him

The Sound Of Upright String Bass Performance
Upright string bass performance is an ever changing profession that has played a vital role to the
history of the jazz ensemble. The bass has evolved more through jazz in the past one hundred years
than since the instrument s conception in the 15th century. In early jazz bands, the bass had a simple
and extremely conscientious style, which limited itself to furnishing fundamental harmonic tones. One
of the greatest bass players in this style is Pops Foster, known for the extraordinary power and attack
of his playing. Later on in the mid 20th century, bassists like Jimmy Blanton and Oscar Pettiford
pushed the string bass into a new light where the instrument s unsuspected potential as a solo
instrument would be realized. The bass also underwent a radical change from entirely acoustic to
entirely electric which has changed modern music forever. Electric bassists like Stanley Clarke and
Jaco Pastorius could now play many notes at once and utilize the fusion aspect of the music and the
instrument. The role of the bass in jazz has been constantly undervalued and misunderstood. People
often view the bass as a cumbersome instrument, or as expendable. The jazz ensemble without a bass
is like a house without its foundation, unable to stand up without the structure it provides. Because the
essential element in improvised jazz is the harmonic structure of the song, it is up to the bass to guide
other instrumentalists through difficult chord changes and somehow string all of the notes

Benito Cereno
In her article entitled Black Masks: Melville s Benito Cereno , Jean Fagan Yellin says that when
Benito Cereno, Herman Melville s tale of slave revolt, appeared in 1855, it made use of Negro
stereotypes already standard in American fiction (Yellin 678). Captain Amasa Delano is characterized
as the typical Yankee man. Yellin elaborates on this by analyzing his self important, authoritarian
persona, observing that he is investigating the strange ship, self righteously expounding the doctrine of
work, officiously planning to manage affairs on the San Dominick, proudly resentful of any implied
social slight, and in no way averse, after helping the distressed Spaniard, to totting up the price he
expects to be paired for his trouble. He smugly believes himself the peculiarly favored child of
Providence (Yellin 682). When we view him in contrast with Cereno, an aristocratic European, Delano
can now be assessed as representation of the idealistic New World Man or the typical American white
man, meaning he is seen as democratic, compassionate, generous, capable of decisive action, although
blind to evil and unable to learn from his experience (Yellin 682). This is best exemplified in his views
of the black slaves on the San Dominick. His assumptive thinking is prevalent in the story because
throughout his initial exploration of the San Dominick, he buys into the illusion that what is happening
upon the ship is not deviating from reality. The presentation of black slaves as

Pros And Cons Of Nature Nurture
The nature nurture debate has been around for decades. It is one of the oldest and most popular topics
in the history of psychology asking what makes people who they become and how they behave and
develop the way they do. What makes the debate more interesting is that now scientists are asking if
personality traits and even sexual orientation can be determined by what is in already there from
conception. Bodies are built up of chromosomes which contain genetic information. Many of these are
inherited from parents and relatives. The nature side of the debate states the way people are is
predominantly from inherited genetics and other biological factors not so much the environmental
factors. The genes humans have in their bodies play a huge role to many aspects of who they are and
who they become. For example, hair colour, eye colour and height are all predetermined by genes.
Unchangeable. This is natures way. The argument stands to decide whether most attributes do stem
from nature, genes, or if they can be affected by the environment and the way people are nurtured as
they have grown. The nurture side of the argument believes although humans do have the genes and
traits with which they are born, most personality traits are being made up of environmental factors.
For example, being loved and cared for as children, if parents or carers were positive role models and
if those people were taught in ways which provided them with discipline and respect for others. Where

A hero is defined as many things. While many people consider heroes to be larger than life figured,
Christopher Reeves says that, A hero is an ordinary person, who preserves, and endures despite

Christopher Reeve s point of view. What truly makes a hero is the courage to say that, it is not one,
which is the hero it is someone else. Someone else that fought and worked hard for the position to be

Airbags Research Paper
If you are looking for a Houston car crash lawyer, there is an excellent chance that you recently had a
close encounter with an airbag. Airbags are designed to prevent injuries in the event of a collision.
Depending on the vehicle, the airbag may be released from the dashboard, the steering wheel or the
doors of the vehicle. Although these devices are exceptionally simple in design, they still feature some
innovative pieces of technology. In order to be effective, the airbag must open faster than a car can
crash. While you may be hitting another vehicle at 60 mph, your airbag is moving at a speed of 200
mph to keep up.
To test an airbag, car companies employ crash test dummies. Obviously, real people would be too
dangerous for testing, so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like everything else on earth, airbags and car accidents are subject to the laws of physics. Basically,
something that is heavier or faster will have more kinetic energy. If you crash into something, this
means that a heavier car or faster speed will be throwing more force into the crash. Modern cars are
made to crumple on impact and take some of this force, but vehicle design is not always enough.
While your car structure is crumpling to take on the force of the crash, the people and items in the
vehicle still have kinetic energy as well. This means that your car will lose energy and stop moving,
but your body will still be flying through space. Seatbelts will stop your body from moving, but your
head will keep moving forward. In severe accidents, this can cause your head to slam into the
windshield or steering wheel. To prevent this from happening, airbags are used to slow down the
momentum of your head. As your head hits the airbag, the nylon bag deflates so that your head does
not end up bouncing back into the seat. If you were recently in a car accident and this did not occur,
you should contact a Houston auto wreck attorney to talk about your

Sir Isaac Newton s Scientific Revolution
Sir Isaac Newton, one of the leading figures of the scientific revolution, discovered numerous
fundamental laws of physics. Here s the catch he started discovering them at just 23 years old! Isaac
Newton s scientific work throughout the 17th century impacted the modern world with a turning point
in history that would change the way we deal with modern science and mathematics. Isaac Newton is
often referred to as the father of science, an honorary name. Newton s work has greatly impacted not
only the ways we study and use science, but our everyday lives as well. For example, Newton also
discovered the laws of motion (force, inertia, reaction), gravity, and light s components. His work was
studied using experiments that questioned the natural world and tested hypotheses. His system of
calculus showed extreme thinking and high intelligence. Newton s life and work is one of the most
predominant turning points of the Scientific Revolution and the mathematical pursuit of knowledge,
including his laws of physics, experimentation that can be repeated, predicted, and verified today, and
the anticipation, development, and rigorization of calculus.
The new knowledge presented and demonstrated by Isaac Newton in the 17th century includes motion
(force, inertia, reaction), universal gravity, and even the principles of how light works, all key
elements of physics. Newton, like all physicists, developed and used equations to support and
demonstrate his hypotheses. His equations and laws

While other units have upgraded, Whiteman has taken measures to extend the T 38A service life, but
continuously been faced with maintenance issues and part availability for an aging aircraft. The
studies that have been accomplished have validated the overall need for companion trainers, however,
there has been limited studies conducted that focused on the tactical relevance of a companion trainer.
This study builds on the previous requirements defined for a B 2 companion trainer, and adds tactical
requirements in order to recommend a solution that achieves both objectives. The Nature of the
Problem This research is necessary because T 38s are aging out at all units. The T 38A at Whiteman
AFB, MO, currently reaches its end of service life in 2028. Currently, the B 2s end of service is 2058,
which highlights the urgent requirement for a replacement trainer. B 2 pilots fly limited sorties due to
the size of the B 2 fleet and the nature of stealth aircraft. Stealth aircraft require specific Low
Observable (LO) maintenance which is both time consuming and costly. Due to the limited sorties, B
2 pilots have utilized a CTP since 1993 to provide additional time necessary for crews to maintain
flight currency and continue to develop airmanship skills . In 2011, an independent study was
performed by Michal Polidor on the validity of a CTP for the B 2 community. That study did validate

Over the next four years Bacon introduced thirteen more bills to establish regulation of labor on
federal public works projects.[10] Finally, a bill submitted by Bacon and Senator James J. Davis, with
the support of the American Federation of Labor,[11] passed in 1931. The law provided that all federal
construction contractors with contracts in excess of $5,000 or more must pay their workers the
prevailing wage, which in practice meant the wages of unionized labor.
The measure passed because Congressmen saw the bill as protection for local, unionized[12] white
workers salaries in the fierce labor market of the Depression.[13] In particular, white union workers
were angry that black workers who were barred from unions were migrating to the North in search of
jobs in the building trades and undercutting white wages.[14]
The comments of various congressmen reveal the racial animus that motivated the sponsors and
supporters of the bill. In 1930, Representative John J. Cochran of Missouri stated that he had received
numerous complaints in recent months about southern contractors employing low paid colored
mechanics getting work and bringing the employees from the South. [15] Representative Clayton

This story takes place in old Sacramento, California around the 1950 s. A lot of this excerpt from
Hunger of Memory covers Richard Rodriguez s childhood and how he has become a grown up. He is
the third of two Mexican immigrants in Sacramento and has two sisters and one brother. Rodriguez
shows his youth as unusual, because of to the battle between his private family life and his public life
outside of the family. Before Rodriguez was seven, Spanish was the everyday spoken language and is
a part of his home, (qtd. par. 17)... Spanish seemed to me the language of home. (Most days it was
only at home that I d hear it.) It became the language of joyful return . Rodriguez s identifies his sense
of home, as a place where his language (the spanish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Language discrimination refers to the unfair treatment of an individual based solely upon the
characteristics of their speech; such as, accent, size of vocabulary, and syntax. It can also involve a
person s ability or inability to use one language instead of another (Workplace Fairness). Rodriguez,
goes through this stage a couple of times, he feels uncomfortable when being asked to answer in
English, because he is unable to really understand the question or prompt. This really describes
Richard, in paragraph 10 he says, At five years of age, I knew just enough English for my mother to
trust me on errands to stores one block away . This is an example, of his vocabulary size and his
inability to create a syntax. Richard is not the only one that struggled to phrase sentences, his parents
have as well, in another quote from this chapter in paragraph 14, It was more troubling for me to hear
my parents speak in public: their high whining vowels and guttural consonants; their sentences that
got stuck with eh and ah sounds; the confused syntax; the hesitant rhythm of sounds so different from
the way gringos spoke. (Rodriguez) Richard felt uncomfortable hearing his parent speak in English, he
also felt slightly

The Influence Of Food In The Middle Ages
Food in the middle ages was a defining part of culture and everyday life. Food reflected people s ways
of living, it told whether they were part of the powerful and rich nobility or if they were poor and
humble peasants. Unlike in today s modern world, there was a great difference between what the rich
and the poor could afford to eat.
People s lives were strictly set around a pyramid like system where the royalty was on the top and the
peasants which consisted of most of the population were at the bottom. The peasants had to work for
the nobles and the nobles in turn had to give them protection and a place to live, all while also
providing the king with military service, money, and supplies. There was no middle class like there is
today and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, unlike today s society, the people of this time couldn t afford to throw food away and thus most
of the Ingredients that could not be pre served for future use were eaten in season (Adamson, 1).
Nobles were the most likely people to have bronze and silver tableware available. During celebrations
their guests were furnished with cups and plates, knives and spoons (Price, 60). Forks were also used
but only for fruits and pastries (Price,

Garbage Patch Recycling
Recycling can also reduce water pollution. When substances such as plastics are improperly disposed
into rivers and beaches, it could be very destructive to the environment. Not only do waste mostly
plastic waste, contaminate these water bodies, but they also harm marine life. One of the biggest
problems that have resulted due to the improper disposition of plastic and other waste is The Great
Pacific Garbage Patch. About 80 percent of the debris in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch comes from
land based activities in North America and Asia ( Great , 2012). The Great Pacific Patch is an
accumulation of trash in the ocean that spans over a large area. Based on studies conducted by Wilcox,
Mallos, Leonard, Rodriguez and Hardesty (2016), marine litter mostly plastic has caused severe
damage on marine wildlife. Because plastic does not biodegrade, it stays in these large bodies of water
an accumulate. Various plastic products can cause suffocation of marine animals and possibly lead to
death. Marine animals may view these items as food and consume them. Once it is consumed, they
can potentially die. The image above obtained from Bing images illustrates the death of an albatross
bird that has consumed plastic waste from the ocean.
Due to the microscopic particles, mostly plastic found in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, it is
difficult to find a solution to remove all of the trash on the sea floor. Therefore, a plausible solution
would be to implement recycling methods.

Celie In The Color Purple
In movie The Color Purple, the main character Celie, is used to show how finding your voice and
asserting yourself can help you resist maltreatment. Celie made it evident to viewers that everyone
holds the strength to confront and overcome hardships, our textbook, A Woman s Book of Life,
describes this message periodically throughout its entirety. In the movie a memorable scene occurs at
the dinner table when Albert, her abusive husband, finds out that Celie is leaving him to go with Shug
to Memphis. Celie stands up at the table and tells Albert to his face, I m pore, I m black, I may be ugly
and can t cook, a voice say to everything listening. But I m here , this is the first time Celie found her
voice and used it to overpower Albert. It

I Know It Was An Accident And She Didn t Mean
I know it was an accident and she didn t mean to hurt Ashleigh. I know it was bad luck. I know
Ashleigh should not have got in the car. But Jo needs to be punished by the law...I want the law, the
community to say it was wrong... Antonello paused, but I don t want to make it any harder for her than
it has to be. I felt sorry for her when I saw her at the Bridge. You re right, she s suffering too. They had
talked about it for a long time and they agreed to write a short statement about their granddaughter,
about her beauty and her potential, her intelligence, the joy she bought to their lives, and about their
sadness and grief.
On the way from the carpark to the courtroom that morning, Rae said, I hope she gets a long sentence.
I know I should be more forgiving. That I should be moving on, and that I should think about what
Ashleigh might have wanted. I m trying not to hate her but she has to be punished... and I don t want
to see her again, never. I want her to be banished. I don t want to walk around dreading that I might
run into her, that Jane or Alex might run into her.
Rae and Alex were coming back to themselves, slowly. They were back to parenting Jane, and they
were talking to each other again, occasionally touching even in public, winking at each other when
something Antonello or Paolina said seemed old fashioned or tiresome or repetitive.
In the few months between his meeting with Jo at the Bridge and the court case, Antonello made
several attempts to get

The Debate Over The Internet
The Internet in the year 2009. We send e mails, make calls over the internet and discuss topics we take
an interest in. Even our banking is going virtual. But what we take for granted today was only a vague
idea fifty years ago. In order to understand how we got this far Let s go back to 1957, when everything
began. Before 1957 computers only worked on one task at a time. This is called batch processing. Of
course, this was quite ineffective. With computers getting bigger and bigger they had to be stored in
special cooled rooms. But then the developers couldn t work directly on the computers anymore
specialists had to be called in to connect them. Programming at that time meant a lot of manual work
and the indirect connection to the computers led to a lot of bugs, wasting time and fraying the
developers´ nerves. The year 1957 marked a big change. A remote connection had to be installed so
the developers could work directly on the computers. At the same time the idea of time sharing came
up. This is the first concept in computer technology to share the processing power of one computer
with multiple users. On October 4th 1957, during the Cold War The first unmanned satellite, Sputnik
1, was sent into orbit by the Soviet Union. The fear of a Missile Gap emerged. In order to secure
America s lead in technology, the US founded the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency in
February 1958. At that time, knowledge was only transferred by people. The DARPA planned a

Use Of Primary And Secondary Sources
At first glance this book may seemed like just a collection of letters, songs, and inventory lists, but
shortly after entering the first chapter it was abundantly clear that the title is very misleading. Laundry
list s and love songs are but a minuscule, compared to the ample supply of translations that the author
Andrea McDowell has implemented into this collection. Village Life in Ancient Egypt was published
in 1999 by Oxford University Press, A well known source of educational publications. McDowell uses
a small variety, but by no means lacking in quantity, of primary and secondary sources, the majority of
which consisted of translations from either unearthed ostraca, or the less common papyrus. This
Review will discuss the structure of the book, McDowell s use of primary and secondary sources, and
how she gets her argument across. This text contains an abundance of information regarding, roughly
every aspect of village life during the New Kingdom (1570 1070 B.C) in ancient Egypt. The book is
arranged into six chapters including an introduction and an Epilogue. The chapters are: family and
friends; daily life; religion; education, learning, and literature; law and work on the royal tomb. Each
Chapter is introduced with a brief description of its contents and how the aged texts were
implemented. Within each chapter are sub headers that describe itself along with its relation to the
chapter. Within each sub header are the translated Egyptian texts. Each translated piece

Power Ten Research Paper
Power Ten: 1. New England Patriots: 7 0 Another week, another outstanding game from the Patriots.
They are clearly the best team in the NFL. I feel like I say it every week, but the Patriots have so much
versatility on offense they are almost impossible to prepare for. Tom Brady is playing the best football
of his career. He is making the quarterback position look easy each and every week. Brady is on pace
for 46 touchdowns and over 5,500 yards. 2. Cincinnati Bengals: 7 0 Despite Andy Dalton playing his
worst game of the season, the Bengals got it done Sunday, beating the Steelers 16 10. This win
showed me a lot about the Bengals. They traveled into Pittsburgh and got the job done. In the past, this
is a game the Bengals would have laid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a very favorable remaining schedule the Vikings find themselves in a nice situation as we head
toward the second half of the season. 8. St. Louis Rams: 4 3 Yes, you read that correctly, the St. Louis
Rams are in my Power Ten. They have an elite defense, ranking in the top six of each statistical
category for team defense. They have the best defensive line with Chris Long, Aaron Donald, and
Robert Quinn. Their secondary is one of the best in the game, routinely shutting down opposing teams
passing games. The team has always had a great defense during the Jeff Fisher Era, but for the first
time the team finally has a legitimate playmaker on offense, and that guy is Todd Gurley. Gurley leads
the NFL in rushing yards per carry with 6.7. Despite only playing in five games, Gurley is fifth in the
entire league in rushing yards. The Rams are a serious threat to qualify for a wild car spot and are
clearly the second best team in the NFC West. 9. Seattle Seahawks:

  • 2. Human Nature Of Nature Man kinds biggest question in life is about our purpose and place on earth. Human civilizations throughout time have struggled with understanding nature and society s purposes in nature, which often stems from responsibility, coexistence, and population control concerns for humanity as well as animal kind. Several wolf species have faced persecution and sever lost of habitat because of humans. Man kind s treatment of varying wolf species clearly stems from people s attempt to balance responsibility, coexistence, and population control, but failing miserably. However, human civilizations recently begun to intensely attempt to be responsible with nature, coexist with other inhabitants of nature, and ethical population control for animals with the use of education and advancements in technology. Human civilization s technologies have a purpose and place on earth in which humanity is morally and ethically responsible for the environment and animals of Earth that require coexistence and ethical population control intervention from mankind. Advancements in technology cause an awakening of awareness for man kind s responsibility towards humans own natural surroundings, awareness of human impact on those surroundings, and human s impact on other inhabitants. • 3. David and Goliath Analysis Essay David and Goliath Analysis In the story David and Goliath there is a great lesson to be learned. The story shows that you should never underestimate your opponent and be prepared for anything. David s own intellect and knowledge of his own abilities enabled him to become the smaller, but stronger opponent. It all comes down to who is the better leader. David was a young shepherd boy who watched over the sheep while feeding and keeping them safe from the lions and bears. While watching the sheep David would spend many moments speaking to God and playing a harp. David s brothers were at the battlefield and one day he was sent to the battle lines by his father to bring back news of his brothers. (Fairchild, 2012) David was not afraid ... David then uses his sling shot to launch a stone at Goliath s head which knocks him down on his face. The giant fell allowing David to take his sword and behead Goliath with it. David took advantage of Goliaths mistakes. He underestimated David s ability and failed to move out of the way of the rock. If you are prepared for all obstacles and keep an open mind you are more likely to come out victorious. David s own intellect and knowledge of his own abilities made Goliath the smaller, but stronger opponent. This story can be related to the difference between WW1 and WW2. During WW1 trench warfare was used. Trench warfare is a ditch dug out of the ground to give troops protection from the enemies. The soldiers used machine guns, mustard and chlorine gases and smokeless gunpowder to ward off the enemy. Machine guns were the main weapons used by soldiers. However they needed 4 6 men to man them (Tasker, 2012) and had to be positioned on a flat surfaces. When the mustard and chlorine gases were released the soldiers had to take great precaution to not breathe it in because the result is immediate death. These trenches also carried many diseases and rats making it a harsh condition for soldiers. By the time of WW2 also known as the Cold War the atomic bomb was invented. • 4. A Hero s Journey Behind A Seagull Guido was a seagull that grew up on the wrong side of the tracks in Aberdeen, Scotland. This area was not an ideal setting to raise a family of seagulls, however, his parents did the best they could with what they had. His parents were poor and had to beg to have enough food to feed their flock, but young Guido did not know any different. He always had food and shelter while his world remained small and familiar. As Guido started to mature, he met other seagulls in his neighborhood. He was so excited, as he finally had something that he could call his, and that was his friends. He became close friends with another seagull named Tony. Tony and Guido became the best of friends and could always be seen playing, walking and flying around the park. It was a friendship that would certainly last a lifetime. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the force of the broom, she screamed and fell into an entire row of candy and cookies knocking the once neat shelves, on the floor. The store owner paused to help the old woman that had just been knocked over, and Al saw his chance to head to the front of the building. Al saw Guido and the others standing outside the store with the bag of crisps. As Al finally cleared the store he met the other three, and the four proceeded straight to Luis to prove they could do it. They were all close to the name Delphina Larkspur. Nobody knows why. Also, they all got their message from their most desired thing or person. For example, Poppy always wanted a family, and she got her letter from her aunt . Marcus always wanted to continue his dream of being a music prodigy, and he got his letter from a music school. Azumi just wants to get away from where she lives (the forest her sister died in), and she looked up schools she could go to so she could get away and forget her sister s death. Once they get there, they discover that it is haunted. There are children in these masks that are trying to kill all of the new kids. They also find out many things like the haunted house can move it s rooms and hallways and furniture and the kids in the masks all have something in common with the new kids. This thing that they have in common is like a curse that is making the kids in the masks trapped in shadow house. This is why the kids in the masks are trying to kill the new kids, so they don t have to live with the curse anymore and so the new kids take their places. Also, they realize that Dylan was killed by Dash accidentally in the past, so Dylan was just his imagination. The last three things they realized was that the girl in the mirror was trying to help Poppy when Poppy thought that the girl in the mirror was evil. And that if they take off the masks of the kids in the masks and make them look at another masked kid, it breaks the curse for that kid. Also, when Marcus plays his music, it hurts the masked kids for some reason. It shows the demonic involvement with The Mark of The Beast. What if the Mark of the Beast was something super natural? Something directly linked to satanic forces? A blend of technology wedded together with demonic possession? What if the delusion was so great that The Antichrist and the False Prophet convinced the world by their signs and wonders that humanity could become gods, and live forever simply by taking the Mark of the Beast? Are there other clues that may suggest that The Antichrist will try to pull off the greatest deception of all time? • 7. Examples Of Historical Allegory In Tv Chandran Films Historical allegory in TV Chandran Films According to Ismail Xavier, the most interesting instances of allegory are those in which the surface of the text either gives unsatisfactory answers to readers interrogations or remains overly enigmatic, thus including a sense of recognition of the opacity of language and mandating the search for the concealed meaning. Apart from mythical narratives, we are all familiar with fragmentary utterances, apparently interrupted messages, suggestive juxtapositions of images that would seem enigmatic or completely illogical If our reading was restricted to what is literally there on the surface. The prestige of allegorical exegesis derives from its claim of solving a textual problem, of an illuminating the crucial aspects of the text that are at the root of enigmas (Miller Stam, 2008). The Cultures Of The French And The Micmac Indians When Europeans encountered the Native Americans, the encounter was fraught with difficulties for both sides, for the Native Americans more so than the Europeans. Europeans conquered the Native Americans, forced them into labor, and spread diseases which the Native Americans had no resistance to. In addition to this the Europeans considered themselves superior to the Native Americans. Despite this, the Europeans and Native Americans, both had things the other wanted and so they often engaged in trade with each other. However, the Native Americans thought that, despite not having the luxuries the Europeans had, they were better off than the Europeans. This sentiment is exemplified in Your People Live Only Upon Cod by French priest Chrestian LeClerq who was traveling with the Micmac Indians. It is a documented response by an unknown Micmac leader to European, particularly French, claims of superiority. Social learning theory of Bandura stresses the importance of observing and modelling, behaviors, attitudes, and emotional reactions of others. (Bandura 1977) states: Learning would be exceedingly laborious, not to mention hazardous, if people had to rely solely on the effects of their own actions to inform them what to do . 4) Motivation, you need to have some reason to want to do something. Thus, senior management is committed to and supportive of the project (ITT Technical Institute, 2015). Documentation, training, policies and procedures are helpful when creating, testing and implementing a new risk mitigation plan. Documentation is extremely helpful as it gives information on where the company was before the new plan was created, where the company will be once the plan has been implemented and where the company will be in the future if the plan is followed. Documentation also provides details for management and allows for easier troubleshooting methods. • 17. Sustainable Agriculture Vs. Traditional Agriculture Hey today I will be talking about why I choose sustainable Agriculture and go against Traditional Agriculture. First I ll give you the definition or what traditional and sustainable agriculture are.Traditional Agriculture is an old fashion way of agriculture. Sustainable Agriculture is a newer way. Also the definition for Agriculture: is a way of farming and practicing a way of producing wool or food. The reason that I choose Sustainable is because it doesn t damage a lot like traditional agriculture does. But that s my personal opinion. I will tell you why I think Sustainable is better and what advantages it has. A way that Traditional agriculture damages the environment is by killing the topsoil and subsoil. Also it kills pest that are not harmful for the crops. An example would be ladybugs who are affected when the pesticide from the plants runoff and go to the ladybugs habitat and get on their food and that s how traditional affects them. Also traditional agriculture uses a lot of chemicals. It also affects different species of birds. It is also harder to harvest than sustainable. It can even affect us, when the level is high on the plants the higher is the chance of getting ill , like cancer. So people who live close to these farm lands that use traditional agriculture have a chance of having cancer going through their family generations. Now sustainable has more advantages. Some advantages that it has is that it produces healthy crops. Other advantages that it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, the Middle East is mentioned as one of the poorest regions in all over the world in terms of water resources with less than 1% of the total available global freshwater per capita [4, 5]. Therefore, one of the strategic options to satisfy the current and future request for fresh water in countries established around Gulf is to build up desalination units. So, immediate need has arisen to construct economic units for water desalination. • 19. The Diversity Of Soil Invertebrates Introduction: The diversity of soil invertebrates is very important to our ecosystem, because most soil invertebrates are responsible for key soil processes such as nutrient recycling, nutrient retention, formation of soil structure, and decomposition rates. Invertebrates are one of the most dominant groups of animals in the world. Recent studies show that animals may constitute as much as 23% of the total diversity of living organisms (Lavelle et al., 2006). Common soil invertebrates include arthropods and nematodes. These soil invertebrates provide major ecosystem services. For example, ants, dung beetles, ground beetles, earthworms, and slugs aid in seed dispersal, which is important because seed dispersal is known to affect food production and nutrient recycling as well as decomposition rates. Bees, butterflies, moths, and ants aid in pollination. These invertebrates are very important because about three fourths of all plants are pollinator dependent and insects tend to provide most of the animal pollination globally. Without pollinators plant species would be more susceptible to extinction. In agricultural systems, invertebrate pollinators are responsible for the successful production of vegetables and fruits that maintain livestock production. There are a lot of mysteries regarding the pyramids and the Sphinx, and many humans may not understand some of these things. Why is the peak of the Pyramid of Giza not completed? Or why isn t Khufu s body in his burial chamber? Not all of those questions have a correct answer. The Great Sphinx and the pyramids of Egypt have existed since thousands of years ago and were built by Ancient Egyptian Kings mostly to honor and symbolize themselves. The Great Sphinx of Giza, believed to be a national symbol of Egypt, was built to honor and symbolize Egypt s King during those times. It was built in the Old Kingdom near Cairo in Egypt, during King Khafre s reign. The people believe that the Sphinx s head contains their King s face, Khafre s. My new iPod does not fit my older iPod setup so well, so I was forced to slip back to frequency modulation for something to listen to. Classic rock was thankfully there to save me from myself. • 23. Lennie and George Relationship in Steinbeck s Novel Essay In this chapter of the novel, Steinbeck uses a lot of visual elements, strong dialect, symbolism, tone and theme. Much of these elements are shown right from the beginning of the chapter when the two men, Lennie and George arrive at the bunk house. Right from the first sentence, the tone and imagery is already set off by introducing the walls [being] whitewashed and the floor unpainted.(p17) In addition, he also introduces the bunks, also re enforcing the tone since the bunks are described as ...burlap sack of straw that was a mattress.(p18) At this point, George is realizing that not only does he have challenges by dealing with George, but he also has to live in this environment where things are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to the theme of disposability, the theme of social isolation is also quite apparent. For example, when the boss was getting suspicious of George answering all of Lennies questions by commenting that Lennie [wasn t] much of a talker, is he?(p21) and also by asking then why don t you let him answer? What are you trying put over?(p21) If the boss found out then the truth about Lennie, he would have immediately asked them to leave. Furthermore, the theme of social isolation is vividly displayed with Crooks, just because of his skin color, gives the boss rights to give the stable buck hell (p19) whenever he is upset at something. The whole message Steinbeck is trying to convey through this chapter in the novel is basically this ranch is like a mini society. Anyone in this society can hold power, and when they get into that position of power over others, they use it in irresponsible ways. For example even though the boss is the top of the social heirchy, his son Curley seems to have more power over

  • 25. The Sound Of Upright String Bass Performance Upright string bass performance is an ever changing profession that has played a vital role to the history of the jazz ensemble. The bass has evolved more through jazz in the past one hundred years than since the instrument s conception in the 15th century. In early jazz bands, the bass had a simple and extremely conscientious style, which limited itself to furnishing fundamental harmonic tones. One of the greatest bass players in this style is Pops Foster, known for the extraordinary power and attack of his playing. Later on in the mid 20th century, bassists like Jimmy Blanton and Oscar Pettiford pushed the string bass into a new light where the instrument s unsuspected potential as a solo instrument would be realized. The bass also underwent a radical change from entirely acoustic to entirely electric which has changed modern music forever. Electric bassists like Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius could now play many notes at once and utilize the fusion aspect of the music and the instrument. The role of the bass in jazz has been constantly undervalued and misunderstood. People often view the bass as a cumbersome instrument, or as expendable. The jazz ensemble without a bass is like a house without its foundation, unable to stand up without the structure it provides. Because the essential element in improvised jazz is the harmonic structure of the song, it is up to the bass to guide other instrumentalists through difficult chord changes and somehow string all of the notes ... • 29. Benito Cereno In her article entitled Black Masks: Melville s Benito Cereno , Jean Fagan Yellin says that when Benito Cereno, Herman Melville s tale of slave revolt, appeared in 1855, it made use of Negro stereotypes already standard in American fiction (Yellin 678). Captain Amasa Delano is characterized as the typical Yankee man. Yellin elaborates on this by analyzing his self important, authoritarian persona, observing that he is investigating the strange ship, self righteously expounding the doctrine of work, officiously planning to manage affairs on the San Dominick, proudly resentful of any implied social slight, and in no way averse, after helping the distressed Spaniard, to totting up the price he expects to be paired for his trouble. He smugly believes himself the peculiarly favored child of Providence (Yellin 682). When we view him in contrast with Cereno, an aristocratic European, Delano can now be assessed as representation of the idealistic New World Man or the typical American white man, meaning he is seen as democratic, compassionate, generous, capable of decisive action, although blind to evil and unable to learn from his experience (Yellin 682). This is best exemplified in his views of the black slaves on the San Dominick. His assumptive thinking is prevalent in the story because throughout his initial exploration of the San Dominick, he buys into the illusion that what is happening upon the ship is not deviating from reality. • 30. Pros And Cons Of Nature Nurture The nature nurture debate has been around for decades. It is one of the oldest and most popular topics in the history of psychology asking what makes people who they become and how they behave and develop the way they do. What makes the debate more interesting is that now scientists are asking if personality traits and even sexual orientation can be determined by what is in already there from conception. Bodies are built up of chromosomes which contain genetic information. Many of these are inherited from parents and relatives. The nature side of the debate states the way people are is predominantly from inherited genetics and other biological factors not so much the environmental factors. The genes humans have in their bodies play a huge role to many aspects of who they are and who they become. For example, hair colour, eye colour and height are all predetermined by genes. Unchangeable. This is natures way. The argument stands to decide whether most attributes do stem from nature, genes, or if they can be affected by the environment and the way people are nurtured as they have grown. The nurture side of the argument believes although humans do have the genes and traits with which they are born, most personality traits are being made up of environmental factors. For example, being loved and cared for as children, if parents or carers were positive role models and if those people were taught in ways which provided them with discipline and respect for others. Airbags are designed to prevent injuries in the event of a collision. Depending on the vehicle, the airbag may be released from the dashboard, the steering wheel or the doors of the vehicle. Although these devices are exceptionally simple in design, they still feature some innovative pieces of technology. In order to be effective, the airbag must open faster than a car can crash. Basically, something that is heavier or faster will have more kinetic energy. If you crash into something, this means that a heavier car or faster speed will be throwing more force into the crash. Modern cars are made to crumple on impact and take some of this force, but vehicle design is not always enough. While your car structure is crumpling to take on the force of the crash, the people and items in the vehicle still have kinetic energy as well. This means that your car will lose energy and stop moving, but your body will still be flying through space. Seatbelts will stop your body from moving, but your head will keep moving forward. In severe accidents, this can cause your head to slam into the windshield or steering wheel. To prevent this from happening, airbags are used to slow down the momentum of your head. As your head hits the airbag, the nylon bag deflates so that your head does not end up bouncing back into the seat. Here s the catch he started discovering them at just 23 years old! Isaac Newton s scientific work throughout the 17th century impacted the modern world with a turning point in history that would change the way we deal with modern science and mathematics. Isaac Newton is often referred to as the father of science, an honorary name. Newton s work has greatly impacted not only the ways we study and use science, but our everyday lives as well. For example, Newton also discovered the laws of motion (force, inertia, reaction), gravity, and light s components. His work was studied using experiments that questioned the natural world and tested hypotheses. His system of calculus showed extreme thinking and high intelligence. Newton s life and work is one of the most predominant turning points of the Scientific Revolution and the mathematical pursuit of knowledge, including his laws of physics, experimentation that can be repeated, predicted, and verified today, and the anticipation, development, and rigorization of calculus. The new knowledge presented and demonstrated by Isaac Newton in the 17th century includes motion (force, inertia, reaction), universal gravity, and even the principles of how light works, all key elements of physics. Before Rodriguez was seven, Spanish was the everyday spoken language and is a part of his home, (qtd. par. 17)... Spanish seemed to me the language of home. (Most days it was only at home that I d hear it.) It became the language of joyful return . Rodriguez s identifies his sense of home, as a place where his language (the spanish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Language discrimination refers to the unfair treatment of an individual based solely upon the characteristics of their speech; such as, accent, size of vocabulary, and syntax. It can also involve a person s ability or inability to use one language instead of another (Workplace Fairness). Rodriguez, goes through this stage a couple of times, he feels uncomfortable when being asked to answer in English, because he is unable to really understand the question or prompt. This really describes Richard, in paragraph 10 he says, At five years of age, I knew just enough English for my mother to trust me on errands to stores one block away . This is an example, of his vocabulary size and his inability to create a syntax. Richard is not the only one that struggled to phrase sentences, his parents have as well, in another quote from this chapter in paragraph 14, It was more troubling for me to hear my parents speak in public: their high whining vowels and guttural consonants; their sentences that got stuck with eh and ah sounds; the confused syntax; the hesitant rhythm of sounds so different from the way gringos spoke. (Rodriguez) Richard felt uncomfortable hearing his parent speak in English, he also felt slightly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Influence Of Food In The Middle Ages Food in the middle ages was a defining part of culture and everyday life. Food reflected people s ways of living, it told whether they were part of the powerful and rich nobility or if they were poor and humble peasants. Unlike in today s modern world, there was a great difference between what the rich and the poor could afford to eat. People s lives were strictly set around a pyramid like system where the royalty was on the top and the peasants which consisted of most of the population were at the bottom. The peasants had to work for the nobles and the nobles in turn had to give them protection and a place to live, all while also providing the king with military service, money, and supplies. There was no middle class like there is today and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 45. Garbage Patch Recycling Recycling can also reduce water pollution. When substances such as plastics are improperly disposed into rivers and beaches, it could be very destructive to the environment. Not only do waste mostly plastic waste, contaminate these water bodies, but they also harm marine life. One of the biggest problems that have resulted due to the improper disposition of plastic and other waste is The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. About 80 percent of the debris in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch comes from land based activities in North America and Asia ( Great , 2012). The Great Pacific Patch is an accumulation of trash in the ocean that spans over a large area. Based on studies conducted by Wilcox, Mallos, Leonard, Rodriguez and Hardesty (2016), marine litter mostly plastic has caused severe damage on marine wildlife. Because plastic does not biodegrade, it stays in these large bodies of water an accumulate. Various plastic products can cause suffocation of marine animals and possibly lead to death. Marine animals may view these items as food and consume them. Once it is consumed, they can potentially die. The image above obtained from Bing images illustrates the death of an albatross bird that has consumed plastic waste from the ocean. Due to the microscopic particles, mostly plastic found in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, it is difficult to find a solution to remove all of the trash on the sea floor. Therefore, a plausible solution would be to implement recycling methods. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Celie In The Color Purple In movie The Color Purple, the main character Celie, is used to show how finding your voice and asserting yourself can help you resist maltreatment. Celie made it evident to viewers that everyone holds the strength to confront and overcome hardships, our textbook, A Woman s Book of Life, describes this message periodically throughout its entirety. In the movie a memorable scene occurs at the dinner table when Albert, her abusive husband, finds out that Celie is leaving him to go with Shug to Memphis. Celie stands up at the table and tells Albert to his face, I m pore, I m black, I may be ugly and can t cook, a voice say to everything listening. • 47. I Know It Was An Accident And She Didn t Mean I know it was an accident and she didn t mean to hurt Ashleigh. I know it was bad luck. I know Ashleigh should not have got in the car. But Jo needs to be punished by the law...I want the law, the community to say it was wrong... Antonello paused, but I don t want to make it any harder for her than it has to be. I felt sorry for her when I saw her at the Bridge. You re right, she s suffering too. They had talked about it for a long time and they agreed to write a short statement about their granddaughter, about her beauty and her potential, her intelligence, the joy she bought to their lives, and about their sadness and grief. On the way from the carpark to the courtroom that morning, Rae said, I hope she gets a long sentence. I know I should be more forgiving. That I should be moving on, and that I should think about what Ashleigh might have wanted. I m trying not to hate her but she has to be punished... and I don t want to see her again, never. I want her to be banished. I don t want to walk around dreading that I might run into her, that Jane or Alex might run into her. Rae and Alex were coming back to themselves, slowly. They were back to parenting Jane, and they were talking to each other again, occasionally touching even in public, winking at each other when something Antonello or Paolina said seemed old fashioned or tiresome or repetitive. In the few months between his meeting with Jo at the Bridge and the court case, Antonello made several attempts to get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The Debate Over The Internet The Internet in the year 2009. We send e mails, make calls over the internet and discuss topics we take an interest in. Even our banking is going virtual. But what we take for granted today was only a vague idea fifty years ago. In order to understand how we got this far Let s go back to 1957, when everything began. Before 1957 computers only worked on one task at a time. This is called batch processing. Of course, this was quite ineffective. With computers getting bigger and bigger they had to be stored in special cooled rooms. But then the developers couldn t work directly on the computers anymore specialists had to be called in to connect them. Programming at that time meant a lot of manual work and the indirect connection to the computers led to a lot of bugs, wasting time and fraying the developers´ nerves. The year 1957 marked a big change. A remote connection had to be installed so the developers could work directly on the computers. At the same time the idea of time sharing came up. This is the first concept in computer technology to share the processing power of one computer with multiple users. On October 4th 1957, during the Cold War The first unmanned satellite, Sputnik 1, was sent into orbit by the Soviet Union. The fear of a Missile Gap emerged. In order to secure America s lead in technology, the US founded the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency in February 1958. At that time, knowledge was only transferred by people. The DARPA planned a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Use Of Primary And Secondary Sources At first glance this book may seemed like just a collection of letters, songs, and inventory lists, but shortly after entering the first chapter it was abundantly clear that the title is very misleading. Laundry list s and love songs are but a minuscule, compared to the ample supply of translations that the author Andrea McDowell has implemented into this collection. Village Life in Ancient Egypt was published in 1999 by Oxford University Press, A well known source of educational publications. McDowell uses a small variety, but by no means lacking in quantity, of primary and secondary sources, the majority of which consisted of translations from either unearthed ostraca, or the less common papyrus. This Review will discuss the structure of the book, McDowell s use of primary and secondary sources, and how she gets her argument across. This text contains an abundance of information regarding, roughly every aspect of village life during the New Kingdom (1570 1070 B.C) in ancient Egypt. The book is arranged into six chapters including an introduction and an Epilogue. The chapters are: family and friends; daily life; religion; education, learning, and literature; law and work on the royal tomb. Each Chapter is introduced with a brief description of its contents and how the aged texts were implemented. Within each chapter are sub headers that describe itself along with its relation to the chapter. Within each sub header are the translated Egyptian texts. Each translated piece ... • 50. Power Ten Research Paper Power Ten: 1. New England Patriots: 7 0 Another week, another outstanding game from the Patriots. They are clearly the best team in the NFL. I feel like I say it every week, but the Patriots have so much versatility on offense they are almost impossible to prepare for. Tom Brady is playing the best football of his career. He is making the quarterback position look easy each and every week. Brady is on pace for 46 touchdowns and over 5,500 yards. 2. Cincinnati Bengals: 7 0 Despite Andy Dalton playing his worst game of the season, the Bengals got it done Sunday, beating the Steelers 16 10. This win showed me a lot about the Bengals. They traveled into Pittsburgh and got the job done. In the past, this is a game the Bengals would have laid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With a very favorable remaining schedule the Vikings find themselves in a nice situation as we head toward the second half of the season. 8. St. Louis Rams: 4 3 Yes, you read that correctly, the St. Louis Rams are in my Power Ten. They have an elite defense, ranking in the top six of each statistical category for team defense. They have the best defensive line with Chris Long, Aaron Donald, and Robert Quinn. Their secondary is one of the best in the game, routinely shutting down opposing teams passing games. The team has always had a great defense during the Jeff Fisher Era, but for the first time the team finally has a legitimate playmaker on offense, and that guy is Todd Gurley. Gurley leads the NFL in rushing yards per carry with 6.7. Despite only playing in five games, Gurley is fifth in the entire league in rushing yards. The Rams are a serious threat to qualify for a wild car spot and are clearly the second best team in the NFC West. 9. Seattle Seahawks: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
