The Ethics of Cloning Essays
Imagine living in a society where performing a certain process, a perfect genetically identical
copy of a biological entity could be produced (Cloning Fact Sheet, 1). This process is called
cloning, and essentially it takes from one s own genetic makeup to produce an exact replica. These
exact replicas, known as clones, can benefit our society in many different ways; however, these
benefits are not without great controversy and concerns. Proponents of cloningsuggest that through
cloning, humans can experience a greater quality of life with fewer health concerns including
hunger and reproduction. Cloning consist of three different types. Gene, Reproductive, and
Therapeutic cloning are equally valuable in their own rights (Cloning Fact... Show more content on

Today the average person understands that cloning is defined as making genetically identical
copies of a single cell or organism (McCuen, 11). In layman terms this means human beings can
now created their perfect version of a desired outcome whether it be plants, animals, or
potentially humans. On February 24, 1997 history was made. The first cloned adult mammal
was born through somatic cell nuclear transfer (McCuen, 11). Somatic cell nuclear transfer is
when a nucleus of a mammary gland is removed and fused with an egg by using electrical pulses.
The pulses prompt the egg to divide to form an embryo. The embryo is then transferred to a
uterus where it is implanted to grow (McCuen, 10). Before the creation of Dolly, many scientists
were unsuccessful in their attempts to produce a genetically identical copy of a cell. In the rare
occasion that they were successful in their attempts, they would soon be discouraged due to the
inability of the clone to sustain life. It took hundreds of attempts before Dolly s team of scientist
could obtain a successfully cloned sheep. Of the 277 successful transfers, only 29 became
embryos. And of these 29 embryos, Dolly was the sole survivor (Sweat, 1). What sets Dolly apart
from previous clones is the fact that she was cloned differently. Dolly was cloned not from sex
cells but from mature mammal cells with no reproductive function (Sweat, 1). Even though Dolly

What Is My Opinion About The Statement What You Already Have

The USAF and Future Leaders
The USAF invests a lot of time and money in developing future leaders. In fact it established
four schools geared toward developing its enlisted force at different levels of leadership. Those
schools are the Airmen Leadership School (ALS), Non commissioned Officer Academy
(NCOA), and Senior Non Commissioned Academy (SNCO), and the Chief School. All four
schools focus on developing the leadership and management skills needed to supervise, manage,
and lead people at each level of responsibility. The military as a whole has long history of
leadership training and development (Gibson, 2005). The accomplishment of the mission is
paramount for any military organization. Leadership is the determining factor in obtaining that
goal. USAF defines leadership as the impact of personal influence and persuasion upon followers
to direct the accomplishment of objectives. Leadership is not restricted to senior management and
leadership, but is expected throughout all ranks. Gibson (2005, p2) states effective leadership is
imperative to the achievement of military missions and the perception of the appropriate
individuals, regardless of tenor, as leaders is paramount to this effectiveness. The way leaders
interact and manage people has a direct bearing on employees job performance and satisfaction.
Too often in the USAF many leaders employ an authoritative leadership style at the expense of
people. Others fail to engage their followers at all. The assumption in the USAF is that

Protests Against Racism
Imagine that you are a black man or woman; you live in the United States, a very patriotic country;
your people are suffering with violence, oppression, racism, police brutality and so on. What would
you do?Well, Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, has made history. At his
team s first preseason game of 2016, something unusual happened: he sat during the playing of the
national anthem, as opposed to the tradition of standing. He did that to protestagainst the cruel
reality faced by people of color. However, his act was covered up by the media. Actually, his protest
was only noticed during the third game. In the 49ers final preseason game, Colin s protest gained
national (and international) attention.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, they demand respect when the anthem is played (normally, they stand up with their hands
on the heart). So, when people started to kneel during the anthem, some Americans called them
unpatriotic. When I was reflecting about it, I did a research and found this statement written by
Joe Posnanski, a NBC Sports national columnist: If you think about it, playing the national
anthem before every single sporting event is weird we don t play it before plays, before
concerts, before the opera or ballet, before movies, before speeches or before comedy shows.
But we play it before every game; we take just a moment to think of what it means to be
American. Yes, you may disagree with what Colin Kaepernick thinks it means to be an
American. But he is making his statement, boldly, unflinchingly, fully ready to face whatever
comes his way. And if you re being honest with yourself, you know the truth: The statement most
of us make during the national anthem is simply this: Come on, let s get on with the game
already! I am not American, I am from Brazil. However, I know that exists in USA, and in every
country, hypocritical people. During the playing of the national anthem, you see all kinds of
behavior: there are people saluting the flag, but there are also people chatting, looking their
phones and etc. Do you doubt? Watch a YouTube video and pay attention to the crowd. All
Americans citizens have the right to free speech. So, they have the right to disagree with
Kaepernick, but he also has the right to protest. And it is exactly what he is doing: Colin is taking

Literary Analysis Of Rocket Boys
Literary Analysis Essay
Wenchang Richardson
Core 2
Analysis Essay
Back in the days, the job you get mostly depends on what family you are born into. For example
during Rocket Boys by Homer H. Hickam Jr, the setting takes place in Coalwood West Virginia
where Sonny is expected to be a miner when he grows up because everyone in Coalwood and his
father s side has a job that does something the mines. However, when his mom tells him to get out
of Coalwood Sonny decides to become a rocket scientist against his father s desires, this results in
his dad being disappointed in him. Pushing this aside as if it didn t matter at all though Sonny
continues his journey to change Coalwood forever while on the way making his dad see that he is
worth more than being a miner when he got out of his high school years.
Even though all the people in Coalwood are miners, Sonny decides to be a different person so he
decides that he and his groups of friends will build rockets. When he does this it makes his dad
upset with him, and even tried to make him stop by dumping his chemicals. All this did for
Sonny was make his even more determined to build and launch rockets. His first three rockets
were good but then that fourth one when into the mine. Looks like your son wants to be a rocket
scientist. He doesn t know what he wants to be, but I do know what he is Dad said pg 94 The
thing that this quote really tells is that this action makes his dad upset. If it just ended here the
rest of the story would be the same. I would be a very boring memoir of how he gave up and
became a miner. Yet I can tell you that this didn t happen. Instead, Sonny kept on launching and
making rockets while his dad became more and more upset. When Sonny kept on not giving up it
lead him to win the national science fair, and this finally made his dad proud of him. He achieved
by being what he wants, and not letting people stop him.
Determined to prove that he can do better than what his dad says about him leads him on a big
journey of scary, and dangerous things as he does his rocket activities. Earlier that day he saw
Sputnik, and this made him interested in rockets. When he made his first rocket he knew it would
be dangerous. In fact, when he launched the

Stonewall Uprising Pros And Cons
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people remained silent and unseen in American culture
until after the Second World War. During the mid 1950s, there was a rise in discrimination against
the people of the LGBT community. LGBT individuals were seen as a threat to the American way
so as that belief grew so did the harassment. Imagine living in a world that tells you what you can
and cannot do. Many people of the LGBT+ community have been harassed or worse based on their
sexual orientation, which goes against Article two of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Men in drag could be arrested due to the 1845 statute that made it a crime to masquerade. Drag
queens were forced to wear three articles of clothing that was associated with their gender or they
would be arrested. In 1969, the blatant harassment of the LGBT led to an uprising called
Stonewall. The Stonewall uprising was a series of violent demonstration by the gay community
against a police raid that occurred earlier. Stonewall spurred the once hidden gay community to
fight back against their oppressors. After the uprising, many lesbian and gay individuals joined
together in protest, which spread all over the country. Subsequently a year later it lead to the
first gay pride parade in US history. Recently there has been some concern over House bill 242

The Quest for ASEAN Economic Community through Consensus Building
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) began on August 8, 1967, when Indonesia,
Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, settled their differences and decided to form the
group due to the prevailing geopolitical conditions. Fresh from the debilitating effects of historical
antagonism brought upon by territorial disputes drawn by colonial division, the power vacuum left
by decolonization is quickly replaced by Cold War polarization. The need to stay neutral and
insulate them from big power rivalry becomes a necessity for the newly independent states who
have grown tired of foreign domination and intervention and just wants to live in harmony and
prosperity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This landmark agreement defined the group s development and organizational initiatives from its
inception until its current ten member states configuration. ASEAN adopted the principles of
consensus decision making and flexibility, which is an indirect pledge of non aggression and
good faith. Since then, ASEAN s negotiations were carried out on the basis of accommodating
every member state s position as much as possible. There is always the use of constant
consultations and discussions until a viable consensus is reached. This seems to have worked to
bolster relations internally and somehow preserve each participant s sovereignty. It was also during
this time that ASEAN declared the group s pursuit of political stability and economic prosperity
through the ASEAN Concord. It was supported by establishing a secretariat to further consolidate
its achievements and expand cooperation in economic, social, cultural and political fields.
Asian Financial Crisis
In 1997, the group was suddenly faced by a financial crisis which brought down the economic gains
of each member state at that time to catastrophic levels, especially Indonesia and Thailand. The
group responded by pursuing an integrated economic policy and made the historic decision of
transforming the region into a single market and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ordinary Portland Cement
General
Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) is most widely used cementitious material and is the second
most consumed resource in the world as it forms the basic ingredient in concrete and Bricklayer
Joseph Aspdin of Leeds, England first prepared Portland cement early in the 19th century by
sweltering powdered limestone and clay in his kitchen stove [13]; this laid the foundation for an
industry to develop a binder called ordinary Portland cement. The major applications of concrete in
the construction field such as infrastructure, habitation and transportation have greatly influenced in
affecting the economic progress by improving the stability and quality of life to a very wide extent.
However, inherent disadvantages are that production of Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) using raw
materials such as limestone and clay are depleting and quarrying of them is causing the source for
environmental degradation. OPC production involves a very high energy intensive and exothermic
process, as because it consumes 4Gj energy and produces about one ton of carbon dioxide, where it
significantly contributes to 5% of global carbon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Law Enforcement Oath Of Honor
As a police officer you put your life on the line every day, you need to be willing to take risks
sometimes be put at a disadvantage to protect the lives, defend civil rights and liberties, and they
undergo risks and tolerate such inconveniences on behalf of strangers on a daily basis. As a result,
policework has become one of the most prideful and selfless occupations in society. Making a
difference in the quality of life of others is an opportunity that policing provides, and few other
lines of work can offer. The Law Enforcement Oath of Honor as stated by the International
Association of Chiefs of Police goes: On my honor,
I will never betray my badge,
my
integrity, my character,

I will always have
the courage to hold
myself

I will always uphold the constitution, my

of Honor, one of the most important aspects is that they have a clear understanding of what the
oath truly means. The oath is a somber pledge an officer makes when they sincerely intend to do
what is said. There are nine parts to this oath, but there are three that stand out to me personally,
the first being honor. Honor means that one s word is given as a guarantee to serve and protect to
the best of their ability. The second, integrity, acting the same that you would act behind closed

Dinosaurs As Endotherms
The reading and the lecture are about endotherms, which are living organism capable of
maintaining body temperature irrespective of their surrounding temperature. The author reports
that new evidences have come to light making dinosaurs more likely to be endotherms. The lecturer
is against this belief. He states that the new evidences aren t enough to consider dinosaurs as
endotherms. First of all, the author contends that polar dinosaurfossils are great evidences that
dinosaurs are endotherms. This is because only animals capable of maintaining a high enough
body temperature will be able to move in the polar regions. The lecturer believes otherwise. He
mentions that the polar regions weren t as cold as they are now. In addition, the polar

Discuss Why Scale And Resolution Are Important For Your...
Concepts and Philosophies
Discuss why scale and resolution are important for your dissertation research
Scale can be a confusing definition in geography with its multiple referents. Scale is about size,
either relative or absolute, and involves a fundamental set of issues in geography. Scale primarily
concerns space in geography. However, the domains of temporal and thematic scale are also
important to geographers. Temporal scale deals with the size of time units, thematic scale with the
grouping of entities or attributes such as people or weather variables. Whether spatial, temporal, or
thematic, scale in fact has several meanings in geography. (Montello, 2001) .The definition of

from soil sample to cantena to catchment or watershed. The problem with this is that
generalisations made at one level or scale does not always hold at other scales. Sampling can be
done at the regional scale with sampling the sediment load at mouth of river to estimate catchment
erosion.
Scale and resolution are very important for dissertation research as they help monitor the
environment via measuring cross sections with stratigraphic logging, this is not trying to control

There is less control over variables in final based experiments such as erosion plots, but still want
to replicate variability present in reality. However there are scaling issues strict scaling of materials
and forces cannot be applied. Experiments (laboratory and numerical) are the most extreme form of
intervention:

Food Affecting Heart Rate
Report
Information
The effects of food on your heart rate
Which of the various food types (Sweet, sour, spicy, bitter and salty) will have the most substantial
effect on a teenage girls heart rate?
A normal resting heart rate for a teenage girl is between 60 and 90 beats per minute. The human
heart is believed to beat faster after one eats a large meal or even a small meal. However, the
larger the meal the faster the heart will beat and the type of food (sour, salty, sugary...) also has
an effect on the heart beat. Heart palpitations are when the heart beats irregularly; normally this
is not serious and will be caused by exercise, stress, eating processed food, drinking some form of
stimulant and many more. It can also be a symptom of arrhythmia; however the subjects that will
be chose to be tested will not be diagnosed with this condition. The quantity of food eaten will also
effect the person for example, having 2 tablespoons of sugar will affect the subject more than if the
person ate 1 teaspoon of sugar.

However, it is imperative, before exploring the impact of food on the heart to briefly understand
what the hearts job is. The hearts duty is to pump blood around ones body, de oxygenated blood
enters the heart from the inferior and the superior vena cava, this blood then enters the right atrium
where the valve pushes out to the right ventricle. From here, the blood goes through individuals
pulmonary artery to get oxygen from the lungs. The blood re enters the heart as oxygenated blood
and goes to the pulmonary veins and into the left atrium, this blood is then transferred to the right
ventricle. Finally the oxygenated blood leaves the heart from the aorta and the cycle continues.
Many things affect the human heart rate such as exercise, illness, stress , eating and many

Jon Favreau s Marketing Techniques In The Jungle Books
You may be that generation that read the book or saw the old Disney classic. If you wanted to
experience nostalgia then this movie doesn t need any introduction. But for the new generation, it s
a marketing nightmare for the company.
All of this, honestly, is one big magic trick, says Director Jon Favreau, according to Yahoo. That s
exactly what it took in order to market the Disney classic The Jungle Book. New York Times has it
that the movie garnered an outstanding $103.6 million in the United States alone, during its

While the studio was happy to discuss the success, they were hesitant to talk about their marketing

Which is why Disney couldn t rely on trailers alone. Disney channeled their efforts through bloggers
and entertainment news sites to make it a point that the film used sophisticated film making

elevate The Jungle Book in the minds of grown ups, Disney circulated dramatic photographs that
paired voice actors with their onscreen characters Idris Elba with the tiger Shere Khan, Ben

EU Case Study
The uncertainty surrounding how the United Kingdom (UK) will exit the European Union (EU)
has significantly impacted the business operations of all firms within the financial services sector
who operate within the EU Market. This can be seen through the recent actions of the larger
multinational banks, as many are alleged to be already be planning to relocate jobs outside of the
UK while also developing corporate operations in other EU nations (Barbaglia, 2017; Callanan
Sidders, 2017; Martin Finch, 2017; Treanor, 2017). There are fears amongst British financial
servicesfirms that a particularly harsh exit could see the UK be forced to operate under third
country status, which could place significant restrictions upon how these... Show more content on

This is primarily because of two reasons. Firstly, once outside the EU, a financial services firm
based in the UK would have to apply for a license for each EU nation (BBA, 2017). However,
this can be difficult as licenses are not available in multiple EU nations, and the licenses given
are only limited to one country at a time (BBA, 2017). Secondly, since no nations outside Europe
have equivalent provisions within their FTAs with the EU, many financial services firms from
non EEA nations have accessed the SEM through the UK (HM Treasury, 2016). Because of these
reasons, the UK government should attempt to re join the EFTA and EEA, as the passporting
system has been extended to cover financial services firms that are based in EEA nations (BBA,
2017). It is also argued that joining the EFTA and EEA would be beneficial for both the UK
government and their domestic businesses, as it would help create and facilitate new jobs while
also reducing the costs associated with EU trade (Randwyck, 2011).
However, there a number of hindrances that may limit the UK and the EU in achieving a
compromise where the UK would be allowed the join the EFTA and EEA. Currently, the most

Importance Of National Self-Determination In Africa
In African contexts, an emphasis was given to the fact that national self determination meant self
determination of the people against the colonial landlords. The nation didn t oppose so much
another nation as it did the colonial autocratic ruler (xxx, xxx). But what seems more important is
the fact that when the colonial power finally realized the need to prepare their colonies for self
government, they did so within the framework established by the colonial state (xxx, xxx). The
colonial state thus became equated not only with its physical attributes (territory and population)
but also with its bureaucracy, the nervous center from which stemmed ail decisions affecting the
country (xxx, xxx). National self determination also found its ultimate expression, not in continental
Pan Africanism or broader regional units, but in the states, Africans inherited from the colonial
powers (xxx, xxx). The first indications that pan Africanism had been overruled by the nationalism
of individual states came during the first assembly of African independent states held in Accra in
1958. It was then that Kwame Nkrumah, who ironically until then had led the movement towards
Pan Africanism, expressed the need to respect the independence, the sovereignty and the territorial
integrity of the newly created states in the interests of peace (xxx, xxx). When African states finally
achieved their independence in conformity with the United Nations General Assembly Resolutions

Reflection Of Jesus And The Perfect Life In Nursing
As I began to enfold the many great words in this book I began with chapter one. The first key
point I came across was learning how Jesus is our model. The book described how Jesus was not
just a spirit guiding us through our lives all though he could have been. Jesus walked this earth and
lived out a humanlife. Jesusshowed us how to live the perfect life, and I believe this is a major
aspect to carry over to the nursing field. Being a Christian nurse inspires us to be the best version
of ourselves. As we reflect on the way Jesus lived we should do everything possible to live out a
life like him. Jesus lived the perfect life and as Christian nurses we should strive to be like him.
The next thing that stood out to me in chapter one was the closing prayer. It states how Jesus gave
up heaven to come down here and save us humans. God and Jesus really both gave the ultimate
sacrifice. They both gave up so much to help us humans. To relate this to the nursing field is
very simple. God and Jesus gave up everything, so I think it our duty as nurses to help and give
back. They sacrificed so much, so being a Christian nurse entails us to sacrifice, give back, and
help others just like God and Jesus did for us. As I ponder on the questions at the end of chapter
I see how much Jesus really did for us. We learned how to live the perfect life from Jesus. I see
how much pain and suffering God and Jesus went through to save us as humans. These questions
make me realize that being a giver

The Philosophical Evolution Of Metaphysics Essay
The Philosophical Evolution of Metaphysics: The Influence of Metaphysics on Poets and How It
Pertains to Today Society.
Imagine, the year is 2150 and a student is sitting at her desk looking within at latest technology, she
thinks about lost poets that history books have shunned for the significance of more famous poets.
As a child in modern society, the importance of lesser known poets, such as Thomas Traherne and
George Herbert, are considered valuable for their philosophical influence in poetry. Over the course
of time literature has become a melting pot of ideas borrowed from other poets and literary works,
which are coagulated into one another to make a new idea. People in modern society need to
understand the importance of remembrance in the similarities in the backgrounds, metaphysical
influences, and written works of Thomas Traherne and George Herbert.
It is astonishing how both poets have similar upbringings with almost a 100 year gap between
them. The background of Thomas Traherne presented by Richard Firth has stated that Thomas
Traherne was born within the wall of Hereford City in 1637 (page 1). At the age of five, the
British Civil War marched into his town where they beheaded King Charles I. Later that year,
Treharne left to attend the Hereford Cathedral School. After graduation, he then attended
Brasenose College in Oxford, earning his BA (Bachelor of the Arts) in 1656. During the years of
1657 1660, he wrote his first complete work titled, Select

The Importance Of Team Dynamics And Communication
Throughout my semester in SciTech, perhaps the most important thing that I took away from my
experience was the importance of team dynamics and communication in collaborative projects, and
this is particularly true in engineering fields, where it is absolutely essential to success, and, in my
opinion, significantly more important than the skill of knowledge of individual team members after
a certain point. Every team that I was part of during SciTech, the team for the semester challenge
especially, had numerous issues in cooperation and communication, and conflict repeatedly arises,
though we eventually learned how best to function together and were able to successfully complete
the challenge before D4 with a significant amount of time to spare, though we did have some issues
with time management in regard to the FinalReport later. I have found that, although relevant
skills to the task at hand, proficiency with SolidWorks or a general aptitude for mechanical
engineering for example, organizational abilities, or other things of that nature, these are
effectively useless without a developer work ethic, a willingness to accept feedback and learn, the
ability to effectively resolve disputes, and good communication, all of which are immensely
valuable in a collaborative setting. For example, one of my group members spent more than a
week on the quantitative analysis section of the FDR, but I ended up having to redo large portions
of it anyway (logbook 3/23), which

Describe How To Braid Research Paper
Tip#11, Avoid tight hairdo
Trying different hairstyles is great and so original. Braids have been around for a long time, but
one thing about it is that most people who love to have braids (with artificial hair) or use their own
hair to make braids. These are very beautiful hairdos but with when they are done too tight, with
time it will result in hair loss, dandruff (because you can t wash your hair with braids), and a very
itchy scalp. And that is not all; after you remove the braids, your hair will be dried up and come
off as you ll try to detangle it. The best alternative would be to:
Treat your hair before you decide to use extensions (where your hair needs to be braided).

This will be your exercise after reading this section; grab a pen and piece of paper and start

for better looking hair.
Tip#15, Try dry shampooto avoid collateral damage.
Dry shampoos can be found in the form of powers and sprays and are mostly recommended
because they are free from the unhealthy sulfates found in wet shampoos. Dry shampoos are also
known to absorb excess dirt and grease in your hair without the use of water. They are ideal when
you wish to straighten your hair and don t want to deal with frizzy or curly hair (which most of
time, occurs after a shampoo).
Simply divide your hair in 4 (if you are not used to using dry shampoos), then start spraying or
sprinkling the dry shampoo into hair. Massage your hair for one minute, and that s all you need to
do.
After you are done with the dry cleansing process, style your hair as wished (do not rinse your hair).
This technique will help you avoid over drying or over processing your hair, which often happens

Los Angeles Lakers Business Analysis

The organisational structure of the Los Angeles Lakers is a product based, divisionalised structure.
It is currently divided into four departments as illustrated in Figure 1 (see Appendix). Each
department affects the organisation mutually, as a whole and interchangeably (Lussier Kimball,
2004). This organisational structure has proven to be very successful for the Lakers in the past,
grouping its resources respectively in order to ensure accountability at every level.

This alternative could help larger organisations, in the case of the L.A. Lakers, become more
practical and logical in their approach (Browning, 1991; Morgan, 2014). Research by Ghiselli
Johnson (1970) and Hinings (1992) suggests that a flatter organisation provides more satisfaction
amongst employees, and a greater sense of commitment and fulfillment.
The main advantage associated with this alternative is that it creates better communication between
employees (Browning, 1991; Suttle, 2016). Furthermore, the morale of the workforce will be
increased, notably amongst the high achievers of the organisation (Hinings 1992; Suttle, 2016). An
organisation that adopts a flatter structure is also considerably less bureaucratic, thus resulting in a
quicker decision making process (Suttle, 2016). Aside from quicker decisions, the ConnectUs
(2015) website review also highlights that fewer organisational layers result in less wages to pay,
therefore salary related expense are reduced and enable the organisation to save

The Plague by Albert Camus
Running Out of Time Time is only running out, and it is one of the most vital and overlooked
qualities of life. Albert Camus highlights the theme of time in his 1947 novel, The Plague.
Through the use of allegory and point of view, Camus substantiates that when people are not
aware of time and its advancing, they are wasting the precious and limited time of their lives. He
constantly establishes that the amount of consciousness obtained by a person is the difference
between spending time wisely and foolishly. In order to fully utilize it, people need to be aware of
time and its passing. Camus uses point of view to demonstrate through Tarrou s eyes his vision of

In its most basic sense, absurdity addresses the meaninglessness of life, with special attention
directed to divine disavowal. Jared White utilizes Absurdism to highlight the thoughts and
meanings that go from individuality to the community. Absurdism is defined as the philosophy that
humans live in essential isolation in an irrational and meaningless world. White says that when
people realize their time has almost no value in the large scale, they give it up to the remainder of
the world. He also claims that despite of the humans absurd settings, personal gains are favored.
White makes clear that, taken literally, the plague of rats is an epidemic, but, symbolically, the
plague of humans is a pandemic. The smaller outbreak only parallels the massive disease that
people are infected with. White also argues that The Plague is in part a historical allegory, in
which the plague signifies the German occupation of France from 1940 to 1944 during World War
II. In a deft narrative act, Camus allegorically uses the plague to consider not only his personal
situation sick, exiled, and restricted but also the European conflict. Bernard further elaborates that
Camus wrote La Peste with the plague as an obvious reference to the kind of imprisonment [. . .]
the Germans imposed on occupied France (165). Oran is cut off from the outside world, which is

The Results Of Raising The Dropout Age
Keys 1
The Results of Raising the Dropout Age
Obtaining an education is essential in today s society. Most students who attend school on a regular
basis usually succeed in life. On the other hand, many students fail to attend school every day which
can lead to problems in schools. However, some students have acceptable reasons for dropping out.
As a result, a student s punctuality can ultimately alter his or her education. On that note, dropping
out of high school can affect an individual in many ways throughout the years. Schools are facing
challenges dealing with high dropout rates, high rates of truancy, and low graduation rates because
students are failing to attend school.
To begin with, dropping out of high school has caused a negative uprise leading to high dropout
rates. There are several effects of dropping out of school. Many students have difficult experiences
during their early lives. High school dropouts are more likely to be from households where parents
do not help their children with school. Some students feel there is disconnect between themselves,
their parents, and their teacher; therefore, they end up dropping out of school. However, if parents
and teachers communicate with students, there is a higher chance that the students will graduate
and succeed. Many adults, who dropped out of school, regret dropping out. Since the dropped out

Gender roles, also known as genderstereotypes, are things to be considered appropriate to certain

What Every Senior Should Know About Reverse Mortgage
When a family purchases a home, they generally do so as an investment in their future. The home
gives them a place to raise their children and offers stability to the family. The typical mortgage
term today is 30 years, which means that most people are in their 50s or even 60s when their
home is finally paid off. Ideally, this puts an older person in a better financial situation. They no

Black Death Dbq
Prior to the 14th century, the Crusades were dominating the political system of Europe.
However, the new era paved the way for a new political conflict, the Hundred Year War (1337
1453). At the center of every war is always the dispute over territories, and it was no different in
the Hundred Years War. The conflict over territories was based on who held the legitimate rights to
the French throne. Unfortunately solving the conflict was difficult because of medieval legality
which stated that one king could be the vassal of another king if the first inherited land outside his
own kingdom. Such was the case for Edward III of Englandwho was also the Duke of Guyenne in
France and thus he felt entitled to the French throne. In spite of this, the... Show more content on

Millions of people suffered a painful death because the plague had no cure. This would eventually
lead to a rapid and devastating decrease in the population. The plague s symptoms were tumorous
outgrowth at the roots of the thigh and arms and simultaneously bleeding ulcerations. Initially, it
was said that the plague began in China and traveled along a well known trade route and found its
way to place like Cairo, Florence, and England. What makes the Black Death a tragedy was how
unequipped the society was to handle the outbreak. Symptoms were a mystery, and doctors
would often give into performing dangerous and unsanitary procedures on patients.
Unfortunately, Paris was the hardest city hit and more than half the population died, mainly the
children and poor. In other parts like east Normandy, an alleged 70 to 80 percent of the
population perished. The plague also affected those who were not sick, families had to separate
from their sick loved one, and in Florence people had their clothing and jewelry regulated. A lack
of understanding about the plagued created distress amongst the society. In fact, people believed
the plague was a divine punishment because of their sins and the only way to end the sickness
was asking for God s forgiveness. Rumors also placed the blame on the Jewish community, and
thousands of Jews were massacred. In the end, the plague affected everyone, no matter the social
class it was only a matter of time before a person was sentenced to their

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cooperative
Theoretical Background
The history of forming a cooperative started when the Filipinos traveled in Europe during the
later part of the 19th century, studied abroad and brought home with them new ideas. It was this
group of Filipinos who were in close contact with the new economic movement in Europe. Two
names worthy of note were Dr. Jose P. Rizal and Teodoro Sandiko. In Dapitan, Rizal had his ideas
in cooperation partially fulfilled. He put up a school for the poor community on a purely cooperative
basis. He also established a cooperative store with the help of his pupils. One noteworthy group
organized by Rizal was the La Sociedad de los Abacaleros (Society of Abaca Producers). This
functioned for only one year. Rizal returned the members share capital without any loss. Teodoro
Sandiko, in his travels in Europe, had a close contact with the cooperative movement in Germany
where he came across with the Raffeisien movement. Very much impressed by this type of
cooperative, he looked forward for an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One main advantage of cooperative is that it is easy to form compare to any other business
organization. No legal formalities are really needed to form this.(Thames Hudson, 2011) Second
advantage is that there is no obstruction for membership. Anyone can be a member of a
cooperative and can also leave if he/she no longer wants to continue his/her membership.
(Davidson Davidson, 2010) Third advantage is that it is democratically managed; it is managed
by the elected officers of the cooperative with all the members having the equal right to choose
and vote. (Democracy for Cooperation, 2010)The last or fourth advantage is that the members
shared the surplus of the cooperative. The profit from goods sold are distributed to its members and
some of it are reserved or kept also for the welfare of its member which is mainly used for the
managing or expanding of a cooperative. (Today in Cooperatives,

THE KOSOVO BATTLE History of people: King Dusan the Powerful died in 1355 at the age of
48, this surprised most people. Leading to a weakening of Serbia s central government. The
young son of Dusan Uros took over the throne and soon was killed. All of a sudden Vukasin
Mrnjacevic proclaimed himself the King of Serbia. During this time, Turks were advancing
toward the Kingdom of Serbia. In a battle on the river Marica in 1371, Vukasin was killed

  • 2. The Ethics of Cloning Essays Imagine living in a society where performing a certain process, a perfect genetically identical copy of a biological entity could be produced (Cloning Fact Sheet, 1). This process is called cloning, and essentially it takes from one s own genetic makeup to produce an exact replica. These exact replicas, known as clones, can benefit our society in many different ways; however, these benefits are not without great controversy and concerns. Proponents of cloningsuggest that through cloning, humans can experience a greater quality of life with fewer health concerns including hunger and reproduction. Cloning consist of three different types. Gene, Reproductive, and Therapeutic cloning are equally valuable in their own rights (Cloning Fact... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today the average person understands that cloning is defined as making genetically identical copies of a single cell or organism (McCuen, 11). In layman terms this means human beings can now created their perfect version of a desired outcome whether it be plants, animals, or potentially humans. On February 24, 1997 history was made. The first cloned adult mammal was born through somatic cell nuclear transfer (McCuen, 11). Somatic cell nuclear transfer is when a nucleus of a mammary gland is removed and fused with an egg by using electrical pulses. The pulses prompt the egg to divide to form an embryo. The embryo is then transferred to a uterus where it is implanted to grow (McCuen, 10). Before the creation of Dolly, many scientists were unsuccessful in their attempts to produce a genetically identical copy of a cell. In the rare occasion that they were successful in their attempts, they would soon be discouraged due to the inability of the clone to sustain life. It took hundreds of attempts before Dolly s team of scientist could obtain a successfully cloned sheep. Of the 277 successful transfers, only 29 became embryos. And of these 29 embryos, Dolly was the sole survivor (Sweat, 1). What sets Dolly apart from previous clones is the fact that she was cloned differently. Dolly was cloned not from sex cells but from mature mammal cells with no reproductive function (Sweat, 1). Even though Dolly was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In fact it established four schools geared toward developing its enlisted force at different levels of leadership. Those schools are the Airmen Leadership School (ALS), Non commissioned Officer Academy (NCOA), and Senior Non Commissioned Academy (SNCO), and the Chief School. All four schools focus on developing the leadership and management skills needed to supervise, manage, and lead people at each level of responsibility. The military as a whole has long history of leadership training and development (Gibson, 2005). The accomplishment of the mission is paramount for any military organization. Leadership is the determining factor in obtaining that goal. USAF defines leadership as the impact of personal influence and persuasion upon followers to direct the accomplishment of objectives. Leadership is not restricted to senior management and leadership, but is expected throughout all ranks. Gibson (2005, p2) states effective leadership is imperative to the achievement of military missions and the perception of the appropriate individuals, regardless of tenor, as leaders is paramount to this effectiveness. There are fears amongst British financial servicesfirms that a particularly harsh exit could see the UK be forced to operate under third country status, which could place significant restrictions upon how these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is primarily because of two reasons. Firstly, once outside the EU, a financial services firm based in the UK would have to apply for a license for each EU nation (BBA, 2017). However, this can be difficult as licenses are not available in multiple EU nations, and the licenses given are only limited to one country at a time (BBA, 2017). Secondly, since no nations outside Europe have equivalent provisions within their FTAs with the EU, many financial services firms from non EEA nations have accessed the SEM through the UK (HM Treasury, 2016). Because of these reasons, the UK government should attempt to re join the EFTA and EEA, as the passporting system has been extended to cover financial services firms that are based in EEA nations (BBA, 2017). It is also argued that joining the EFTA and EEA would be beneficial for both the UK government and their domestic businesses, as it would help create and facilitate new jobs while also reducing the costs associated with EU trade (Randwyck, 2011). However, there a number of hindrances that may limit the UK and the EU in achieving a compromise where the UK would be allowed the join the EFTA and EEA. He is shown as having two faces, one in front, to the future, the other at the back of his head, to the past. He is the patron of beginnings and endings, entries and exits, symbolizes the beginning of every day, every month and every year. In 46 BC, Caesar decided that the first day of January was the New Year s Day of Roman calendar, and he named the first month after Janus, which is lanuarius (month of Janus) in Latin. • 28. Importance Of National Self-Determination In Africa In African contexts, an emphasis was given to the fact that national self determination meant self determination of the people against the colonial landlords. The nation didn t oppose so much another nation as it did the colonial autocratic ruler (xxx, xxx). But what seems more important is the fact that when the colonial power finally realized the need to prepare their colonies for self government, they did so within the framework established by the colonial state (xxx, xxx). The colonial state thus became equated not only with its physical attributes (territory and population) but also with its bureaucracy, the nervous center from which stemmed ail decisions affecting the country (xxx, xxx). National self determination also found its ultimate expression, not in continental Pan Africanism or broader regional units, but in the states, Africans inherited from the colonial powers (xxx, xxx). The first indications that pan Africanism had been overruled by the nationalism of individual states came during the first assembly of African independent states held in Accra in 1958. It was then that Kwame Nkrumah, who ironically until then had led the movement towards Pan Africanism, expressed the need to respect the independence, the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the newly created states in the interests of peace (xxx, xxx). When African states finally achieved their independence in conformity with the United Nations General Assembly Resolutions interpreted as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Reflection Of Jesus And The Perfect Life In Nursing As I began to enfold the many great words in this book I began with chapter one. The first key point I came across was learning how Jesus is our model. The book described how Jesus was not just a spirit guiding us through our lives all though he could have been. Jesus walked this earth and lived out a humanlife. Jesusshowed us how to live the perfect life, and I believe this is a major aspect to carry over to the nursing field. Being a Christian nurse inspires us to be the best version of ourselves. As we reflect on the way Jesus lived we should do everything possible to live out a life like him. Jesus lived the perfect life and as Christian nurses we should strive to be like him. The next thing that stood out to me in chapter one was the closing prayer. It states how Jesus gave up heaven to come down here and save us humans. God and Jesus really both gave the ultimate sacrifice. They both gave up so much to help us humans. To relate this to the nursing field is very simple. God and Jesus gave up everything, so I think it our duty as nurses to help and give back. They sacrificed so much, so being a Christian nurse entails us to sacrifice, give back, and help others just like God and Jesus did for us. As I ponder on the questions at the end of chapter I see how much Jesus really did for us. We learned how to live the perfect life from Jesus. I see how much pain and suffering God and Jesus went through to save us as humans. These questions make me realize that being a giver ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. The Philosophical Evolution Of Metaphysics Essay The Philosophical Evolution of Metaphysics: The Influence of Metaphysics on Poets and How It Pertains to Today Society. Imagine, the year is 2150 and a student is sitting at her desk looking within at latest technology, she thinks about lost poets that history books have shunned for the significance of more famous poets. As a child in modern society, the importance of lesser known poets, such as Thomas Traherne and George Herbert, are considered valuable for their philosophical influence in poetry. Over the course of time literature has become a melting pot of ideas borrowed from other poets and literary works, which are coagulated into one another to make a new idea. People in modern society need to understand the importance of remembrance in the similarities in the backgrounds, metaphysical influences, and written works of Thomas Traherne and George Herbert. It is astonishing how both poets have similar upbringings with almost a 100 year gap between them. The background of Thomas Traherne presented by Richard Firth has stated that Thomas Traherne was born within the wall of Hereford City in 1637 (page 1). At the age of five, the British Civil War marched into his town where they beheaded King Charles I. Later that year, Treharne left to attend the Hereford Cathedral School. After graduation, he then attended Brasenose College in Oxford, earning his BA (Bachelor of the Arts) in 1656. During the years of 1657 1660, he wrote his first complete work titled, Select ... The Importance Of Team Dynamics And Communication Throughout my semester in SciTech, perhaps the most important thing that I took away from my experience was the importance of team dynamics and communication in collaborative projects, and this is particularly true in engineering fields, where it is absolutely essential to success, and, in my opinion, significantly more important than the skill of knowledge of individual team members after a certain point. Every team that I was part of during SciTech, the team for the semester challenge especially, had numerous issues in cooperation and communication, and conflict repeatedly arises, though we eventually learned how best to function together and were able to successfully complete the challenge before D4 with a significant amount of time to spare, though we did have some issues with time management in regard to the FinalReport later. I have found that, although relevant skills to the task at hand, proficiency with SolidWorks or a general aptitude for mechanical engineering for example, organizational abilities, or other things of that nature, these are effectively useless without a developer work ethic, a willingness to accept feedback and learn, the ability to effectively resolve disputes, and good communication, all of which are immensely valuable in a collaborative setting. For example, one of my group members spent more than a week on the quantitative analysis section of the FDR, but I ended up having to redo large portions of it anyway (logbook 3/23), which ... These are very beautiful hairdos but with when they are done too tight, with time it will result in hair loss, dandruff (because you can t wash your hair with braids), and a very itchy scalp. And that is not all; after you remove the braids, your hair will be dried up and come off as you ll try to detangle it. Dry shampoos can be found in the form of powers and sprays and are mostly recommended because they are free from the unhealthy sulfates found in wet shampoos. Dry shampoos are also known to absorb excess dirt and grease in your hair without the use of water. They are ideal when you wish to straighten your hair and don t want to deal with frizzy or curly hair (which most of time, occurs after a shampoo). Simply divide your hair in 4 (if you are not used to using dry shampoos), then start spraying or sprinkling the dry shampoo into hair. Massage your hair for one minute, and that s all you need to do. The main advantage associated with this alternative is that it creates better communication between employees (Browning, 1991; Suttle, 2016). Furthermore, the morale of the workforce will be increased, notably amongst the high achievers of the organisation (Hinings 1992; Suttle, 2016). An organisation that adopts a flatter structure is also considerably less bureaucratic, thus resulting in a quicker decision making process (Suttle, 2016). • 35. The Plague by Albert Camus Running Out of Time Time is only running out, and it is one of the most vital and overlooked qualities of life. Albert Camus highlights the theme of time in his 1947 novel, The Plague. Through the use of allegory and point of view, Camus substantiates that when people are not aware of time and its advancing, they are wasting the precious and limited time of their lives. He constantly establishes that the amount of consciousness obtained by a person is the difference between spending time wisely and foolishly. In order to fully utilize it, people need to be aware of time and its passing. Camus uses point of view to demonstrate through Tarrou s eyes his vision of time. ...Tarrou added: Query: How contrive not to waste one s time? Answer:... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In its most basic sense, absurdity addresses the meaninglessness of life, with special attention directed to divine disavowal. Jared White utilizes Absurdism to highlight the thoughts and meanings that go from individuality to the community. Absurdism is defined as the philosophy that humans live in essential isolation in an irrational and meaningless world. White says that when people realize their time has almost no value in the large scale, they give it up to the remainder of the world. He also claims that despite of the humans absurd settings, personal gains are favored. White makes clear that, taken literally, the plague of rats is an epidemic, but, symbolically, the plague of humans is a pandemic. The smaller outbreak only parallels the massive disease that people are infected with. White also argues that The Plague is in part a historical allegory, in which the plague signifies the German occupation of France from 1940 to 1944 during World War II. In a deft narrative act, Camus allegorically uses the plague to consider not only his personal situation sick, exiled, and restricted but also the European conflict. Bernard further elaborates that Camus wrote La Peste with the plague as an obvious reference to the kind of imprisonment [. . .] the Germans imposed on occupied France (165).
