Child Soldiers in India
The military use of young children takes three distinct forms: children can take direct part in hostilities
(child soldiers), or they can be used in support roles such as porters, spies, messengers, look outs, and
sexual slaves; or they can be used for political advantage either as human shields or in propaganda.
Throughout history and in many cultures, children have been extensively involved in military
campaigns even when such practices were supposedly against cultural morals. Since the 1970s a
number of international conventions have come into effect that try to limit the participation of children
in armed conflicts, nevertheless the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers reports that the use of
children in military forces, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The National Cadet Corps recruited school and college students from the age of 13yrs to take part in
military and other training on a voluntary basis. Although not obliged to sign up for military service,
cadets who succeeded in passing exams were given concessions when applying to the army, navy or
air force as well as auxiliary forces. Cadets were involved in relief operations in southern India
following the 2004 Asian tsunami. * Child recruitment and deployment
The lack of systematic birth registration, particularly in rural areas, made it difficult to verify ages,
making it impossible to rule out the possibility that under 18s might participate actively in hostilities.
There were active recruitment drives targeting youths , particularly in the Kashmir valley. * Detention
of children
There was evidence that in areas of armed conflict children accused of being members of armed
groups were detained, often in violation of national legislation designed to protect children in conflict
with the law. In Manipur it was alleged that the system established under the Juvenile Justice Act 2000
was non functioning due to inadequate resources; in particular no juvenile home had been established.
As a result, security forces (including police) who detained children in anti insurgency operations
were reportedly claiming that they were over 18 when

Children deserve and need the best possible start in their lives in order for them to fulfil their full
potential in their learning and development (Terry, 2009). A happy, healthy and supportive childhood
will help children to achieve the best that they possibly can (Smeyers and Wring, 2007).

In the past there have been people that have had theories that relate to child development and learning
of children in childcare settings; these people are known as educational pioneers and are well
respected as their theories have changed childcare for the better (Meggitt et al, 2011).
Friedrich Froebel (1782 1852), the great German educator, is famous pre eminently for his radical
insight that the first learning experiences of the very young are of crucial importance in influencing
not only their later educational achievements but also the health and development of society as a
whole (Weston, 1998).
Friedrich Froebel had the idea that children learn best through play and by having real experiences and
from these theories he was the founder of the first ever kindergarten in 1840 (Meggitt et al, 2011).
Following the theory that children learn best through play, Frobel introduced toys that he called,
Froebel Gifts or gaben which included balls, wooden blocks, rings, tiles and sticks which were all the
key elements of Froebel s kindergarten (Watson, 2002).
Froebel s ideas are very similar to those that construct the EYFS that all childcare providers use today.
Here is a table showing a summary of his ideas and how they are similar to and link with the EYFS:

Mexican Cuisine
Mexican cuisine, a style of food that originates in Mexico, is known for its varied flavors, colourful
decoration and variety of spices and ingredients, most of which are native to the country. The cuisine
of Mexico has evolved through thousands of years of blending indigenous cultures, with later foreign
elements added after the 16th century. In November 2010, Mexican cuisine was added by UNESCO to
its lists of the world s intangible cultural heritage The staples of Mexican foods are typically corn and
beans. Corn is used to make masa, dough for tamales, tortillas, gorditas, and many other corn based
foods. Corn also are eaten fresh from the cob, and also can be as an ingredient of a number of dishes.
Aside from that, squash and peppers are also important in Mexican cuisine. Mexican cuisine is
considered one of the most distinct in the world, after Indian Cuisine and Chinese Cuisine.

The Spanish conquistadors brought cows, goats, and sheep to the New World, permanently changing
Mexican dietary habits. The Spanish also brought techniques to make cheeses from their homeland,
such as manchego. Over the colonial period, cheese making was modified to suit the mixed European
indigenous tastes of Mexicans, varying by region. This blending and variations have given rise to a
number of varieties of Mexican cheeses. These are most popular in the country although European
cheeses are made as well. Most cheeses are made with raw (unpasteurized) milk, which has caused
some health issues.Cheeses are made in the home, on small farms or ranches, and by major dairy
product firms. There are somewhere between twenty and forty different varieties of cheese in Mexico,
depending on how one classifies. Some, such as Oaxaca and panela, are made all over Mexico, but
many are regional cheeses known only in certain sections on the

Quiet Time Isolation
Quiet time is very similar to time out but is different. When you use time out you remove a child from
a location and isolate them from the other children in the room so they can calm down. With quiet
time, instead of isolating them you sit the child near the caregiver. You still are making sure that the
child is removed from others so they can calm down but isn t completely isolated from the other
children. Like with time out, you still need to make sure the child calms down and you talk with the
child about a different choice they could have made that is acceptable. This method is the preferred
method of guidance because it eliminates isolation but still provides the alone time the child needs to
calm down. Isolation can inappropriately scare

Kesha Symbolism
The release of Kesha s song, Praying signals the liberation of Kesha s musical purgatory after 4 years.
Over the past few years, Kesha Rose was bound to an exclusive contract with Dr. Luke which hasn t
allowed her to release or produce any new music. She claimed in a lawsuit that this contract enabled
Dr. Luke to control every aspect of her life. Kesha has accused him of both verbal and sexual abuse
during this contract. As of March 2017, Dr. Luke s role as CEO of his record company has been
expired and Sony, the company that owned Dr. Luke s record label didn t renew it, and has released
Kesha from her contract. Now, Kesha is able to release new music she writes on her own, all seen on
her new album Rainbow which Praying is on. To develop the underlying message of the song, Kesha
uses setting, point of view, and symbolism throughout her music video. Coming from a sensitive place
in her life, Kesha uses setting in her music video to convey her emotional state. In the music video
Kesha starts off in a dark basement surrounded by people dressed as pigs, whom she ... Show more

point?... God give me a sign or I have to give up. I can t do this anymore (Rose). Kesha s point of
view is in the first person revealing only her thoughts and feelings. She does this by speaking in the
background as an inner monologue, letting the viewer/listener know that she is only asking herself
these questions. Kesha is doing this because it shows how she feels and her attitude towards not only
her life, but the concept of why she should be alive. Kesha s point of view demonstrates her true
colors by revealing her tone through rhetorical questions in the beginning of her music video that later
set a path that reveal what happens next through her song and examples of

Elisa Allen In John Steinbeck s The Chrysanthemums
Elisa Allen, of The Chrysanthemums, had an emptiness within herself that she could never expose to
the world; instead she kept it in until she no longer could. She ends up revealing her shadow to a
stranger who gave her the desire she wanted. Elisa had a dream that she does not realize at first, but
begins to realize it when the opportunity was in front of her. Her husband, who does not share the
same interest as her with her garden, would only verbally support her interest when it came that he can
see and receive profit from it. Her dream is to have a husband that shows interest in her biggest hobby
that is gardening. Although she seems happy with her current husband Henry, she never realized how

touched the cloth (Steinbeck 18). The man then realized what she was doing, but did not react; instead
he acted as professional as well as he could. After his departure, she then felt a depression knowing
that she might have lost her one chance of happiness. As her husband is taking her out to dinner later
on in the night, she asks Henry questions about his hobbies of watching fights and realized that she
never had anyone as interested of her gardening skills as much as the departed man did. She felt that at
this moment, her dream was then put on hold once more, so her shadow of loneliness and emptiness
took over. Her shadow was revealed towards the man who gave the attention she wanted from her
husband. She no longer hid or neglect her shadows because she realize what made her happy and went

Christopher Columbus And The Middle Of A Population Revival
In the mid 15th century, Europe was in the middle of a population revival as well as a boost in
economic activity after the Black Death. Some Iberian explorers began setting out on voyages, as the
revival created a demand of luxuries, such as spices, in the East. This expansion also was also caused
by religious fervor. The Christian reconquista encouraged the Portuguese and Spanish to continue the
Christian crusade. Portugal sent Vasco da Gama and Spain sent Christopher Columbus to find a
trading route to Asia (History, 432). Both da Gama and Columbus were sailors on a mission to Asia,
but the nature of their expedition and the consequences set them apart.
Christopher Columbus was a Genoese map maker. Knowledgeable about the ocean, he had experience
with Portuguese navigational developments and using a compass as a nautical tool. Columbus was
also a religious man, and saw Christianity as a missionary religion. In fact, he planned to spread
Christianity to the people in Asia. Columbus was not just inspired by his Christian faith, but also by
the work done by geographers and travelers before him. In his first voyage, The Enterprise of the
Indies , he set out to find a direct trading route to Asia. In 1486, he was rejected by the Portuguese for
any funding, but in 1492, the king and queen of Spain funded his journey. Columbus is known to be a
controversial figure. There are some who glorify him as a great explorer, but others see him as an
invader, taking

The Theory Of The Social Learning Theory
The act of learning is an innate characteristic belonging to people across the globe. Learning can take
place in many different forms (reading, writing, speaking, listening, excellency in a particular skill,
etc.) and settings, generalizing from one content area to another. It also occurs at varying rates across a
diverse spectrum of populations and can be influenced by any number of factors including
personalities, perceived abilities, societal values and environment. Some individuals acquire
information best in formal settings, like the direct instruction or supports found in a classroom, while
others may benefit more from informal instruction, learning incidentally from their surroundings.
Throughout the course of history, there have been many perspectives regarding education and the
manner in which individuals learn best. I will primarily focus on the educational perspective of the
Social Learning Theory and briefly discuss its history as well as its prominent figures, components,
and implications in regard to language and literacy both inside and outside of the classroom.
In 1954 Julian B. Rotter developed the Social Learning Theory that gravitated away from Freud s
psychoanalysis and Skinner s behaviorism that focused on behavior rather than intrinsic thought. They
were the most popular theories during that time, focusing on experimental methods, emphasizing
variables that are observable, measurable, and manipulatable, avoiding whatever is subjective,
internal,

The First Ten Amendments Of The First Amendment
On the cold night of March 5th, 1770, a mob of American colonists were protesting outside the
Customs House in Boston. One colonist threw a snowball hitting Private Hugh Montgomery.
Montgomery replied with a shot into the crowd. This led the rest of the British Army soldiers to shoot
into the crowd killing five people in an event that would later be known as the Boston Massacre
(Foner and Garraty). After this protest, more and more taxes were levied against the colonies,
particularly regarding tea. To add, trade with nations besides Great Britain was prohibited. These
affronts were met with the tarring and feathering of British tax collectors and the infamous Boston Tea
Party. As a result of this, Massachussetts was essentially ruled by martial law. This finally culminated
with a declaration of independence by the Second Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776. The United
States of America was formed.
Due to the British oppression, every American, including our founding founders, wanted greater
protection of their rights. To accomplish this, James Madison drafted the Bill of Rights and by the end
of 1791, every state had ratified the first ten amendments. The First Amendment is primary, not just
because it is at the beginning, but because it articulates the First Freedom and the nature of that
freedom. It states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of
the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. By
connecting the freedom of religion with the freedoms of speech and press, the First Amendment
showed the people of America what it is to be a human (Bill of Rights).
The first part of that amendment is the result of the Founding Fathers experience with the long history
of religious strife in Europe such as the French Wars of Religion, the Thirty Years War, and the
Crusades. They realized that religious disagreement can be counterproductive and create setbacks in
politics. It would be even worse if one religious group was favored. So, they ensured that the federal
government cannot interfere in the citizen s personal

Dualistic Social Roles In Victor Hugo s Les Misérables
In Victor Hugo s novel Les Misérables, a man named Jean Valjean is imprisoned for nineteen years for
stealing a loaf of bread. Though he goes in a good man, he comes out troubled, judged, and angry. The
simple kindness and compassion showed to him by a bishop inspires him to change and rise above his
past. Throughout his book, Victor Hugo uses metaphor, symbolism, and diction to emphasize the
remarkably non dualistic nature between the saint and the sinner, highlighting society s divine
obligation to treat one another with mercy and love. By using metaphor, symbolism, and diction,
Hugo is able to shed light on a social issue of his day in a way that allows the reader relate to and
understand a misunderstood class of society. The passage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being a religious leader, one might expect him to be very black and white about good and evil, yet he
is not (at least not in the way that one might expect). He has the authority to judge others but he leaves
it to God. Instead of focusing on the duality of religion (righteousness and sin), he decides to focus on
the non dualistic side of religion: the people and their worth as individuals. This perspective was very
different from the church of Hugo s day. For this, he would get a lot of complaints and attacks from
the Catholic church concerning Les Misérables, perhaps signifying the powerful influence of his
choice in character. As the Bishop s doctrine is summarized, Hugo continues to implement literary
devices such as personification and imagery to help the reader visualize the sinner s condition. Man
has upon him flesh, the Bishop states, which is at once his burden and his temptation. This flesh is
personified so as to become an actual living figure of opposition. He drags it with him and yields to it,
the Bishop teaches, He must watch it, cheek it, repress it, and obey it only at the last extremity . The
flesh , of course, symbolizes the struggle of the natural man and the temptations that the sinner
succumbs to. Hugo s choice of words like drag and burden generate the feeling of heaviness found in
the temptation that the mortal man bears.

Art Therapy Personal Statement
I have come a long way on my life journey to be here in New York to study art therapy. Prior to this
study, I was a graphic designer. Today, I introduce myself as an artist and a prospective art therapist. I
grew up in South Korea, that is mono cultural, and spent my first 25 years in Seoul, the capital city,
having an ordinary childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. Although my life is not remarkable
like that of many artists, some distinct features nurtured me as an artist and a prospective art therapist.
I was engaged in artistic activities since childhood. My mother was the strongest influence; she
worked in the education field and was highly interested in art education for children. I was always in
an environment with access to art. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I was not an outstanding student, I was confident with my grades in art classes. An art
teacher I met in high school inspired me to be a designer. Yet a design major was somewhat
distinguished from the art that I pursued. Her art class had a surpassing influence in my life. In a
traditional art class of a Korean high school, students normally learned to draw a plaster model, an
oriental painting, and a watercolor still life painting, which were boring for teenagers. They were
evaluated by their depiction skills and techniques, and competence in using art materials. However,
the instruction of the art teacher in my high school was unique. She obtained permission from the
school and to modify the curriculum for the students in order to get them motivated. She truly wanted
to encourage and excite her students through her art classes. As adolescents felt that, design was
attractive at that time. The art teacher suggested a new design art curriculum instead of the boring
instructions. This, T shirt and textile designs, drew students attention even before we started the
process, many students participated in, and enjoyed, the art class. We created silk screen printing on T
shirts and tie dyed handkerchiefs in her class. This instruction also facilitated an atmosphere of
communication. Silk screen printing required at least two people, therefore, we partnered and
cooperated together. While tie dying, students actively interacted, sharing various colors and produced
impressive handkerchiefs. The class was noisy yet everyone was focused and enjoyed their artwork; it
was close to play , rather than an art class, and enough to capture students interest, student who had
only used paint and brushed previously. The walls of the classrooms were decorated by splendid
handkerchiefs. Unlike the art we had learned in traditional art class, this was exciting and practical.
This new art instruction was sensational. I

Marketing, Web Design and Web Development
Web design is a blend of creativity and technicality, or graphic design and web development. As a
result of this blend the industry s necessary skills, necessary education, and job offerings can be
variable. Individuals interested in this industry should attempt to vary their skill sets as much as
possible. Companies such as a Forix, combine marketing, design and technical skills to customize
their products. Additionally, individuals should expect to discover that some careers will rely more
heavily on technical skills, while other careers rely more heavily on design skills.
The web design and development industry are relatively new. This modern industry was built off of
the inventions of 1974, when computer researchers invented the internet protocol suite (TCP/IP).
TCP/IP is somewhat like human communication: when we speak to each other, the rules of grammar
provide structure to language and ensure that we can understand each other and exchange ideas.
Similarly, TCP/IP provides the rules of communication that ensure interconnected devices understand
each other so that they can send information back and forth. (Google Chrome Team, 2010, pg. 5).
It was not until 1989 that the internet was conceived. A man named Tim Berners Lee created the
World Wide Web server through HTML or, hypertext markup language. Just like humans have a
standard of living, the internet had not reached a suitable

age how to manage disputes. He had been bullied often and would form allies to counterattack the
bullies. According to Gao Wengian s novel Zhou Enlai: The Last Perfect Revolutionary, He revealed
himself to be an early master at creating a united front. This was a skill that served him well in later
years and may explain his capacity to survive so many hostile confrontations (27). The level of tactical

Global Climate Change Causes And Effects On The...
What do you know about global climate change? Do you think we create this problem in the twentieth
first century to damage our planet. This problem started at the beginning of civilization and became
worse during the Industrial Revolution of the eighteenth century. Older generations generated more
carbon dioxide into the atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuel and deforestation. More carbon
dioxide had a negative impact on the ecosystems of the planet. And the scientific definition of global
climate represents changes in the earth s weather and temperature. When higher greenhouse gas
concentrates in the atmosphere, the earth becomes warmer. Water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane
are the gases that lead to the greenhouse effect. Pollution of the earth causes damage to the ozone
layer in the atmosphere, and it s easy for the sun rays to pass in the earth. Global climate change
causes a negative impact on the environment and the world s oceans. Global climate change causes
many problems for the planet. The population growth of earth is 7.125 billion. Can anybody imagine
how much greenhouse gas we produce in the atmosphere? Because they re more people on the earth,
we need more natural resources in daily life. People destroy more natural resources like trees to live.
Human beings produce more man made pollution on the land and the ocean environments. For
example, coal powered plants, automobiles, and industrial facilities make a higher percent of carbon

Black Rook In Rainy Weather And The Darkling Thrush Analysis
Birds of Hope: Black Rook in Rainy Weather and The Darkling Thrush
In the two poems, Black Rook in Rainy Weather by Sylvia Plath and The Darkling
Thrush by Thomas Hardy, both speakers share their experiences about an encounter with a bird
during the winter. In the poems, the speakers share their experiences about a bird that helps the
speaker come to a realization about their lives.
The thrush in Hardy s The Darkling Thrush is inspiring hope. Even though everything
is looking bleak for the speaker due to the environment he is in, when he sees and hears the

When she sees the black
rook, she realizes that her miracle is coming at an undefined time and even though she does not
know when it will happen, she is willing to wait as long as it takes to receive her miracle. The
tone of the poem is sadness and gloom. An example of the tone of this poem is Although, I
admit, I desire,/Occasionally, some backtalk/ From the mute sky, I can t honestly complain:
(Line 11 13). This quote helps to show the sadness that the speaker is feeling due to the fact that
she feels like she doesn t have a reason to have hope or to be happy. An example of the use of
imagery in the poem is In my eye, not seek/Any more in the desultory weather some
design,/But let spotted leaves fall as they fall, (Line 7 9). This quote helps to show the gloomy
mood that is associated with winter, yet it seems that the speaker is used to the gloomy
environment of winter.
The elements that I found to be similar in the poem is the bleak environment of the winter
in both of the poems. Both of the poems talk about winter and how the environment has brought
about and overall gloomy feel to the environment. Also, it showed the winter environment
helped to influence that speaker s feeling that life has no meaning and there is no reason to hope.
Another element of the poems that I found to be similar is how the birds represent some type of
hope to the speakers. In The Darkling

Questions On Juvenile And Juvenile Justice System
1. I d recommend you begin your paper with a paragraph that states both your theory and your
approach. Share that the juvenile justice system should take into account the evidence that a juvenile s
brain specifically the white matter that controls the brain s executive functions has not completely
formed. You will layout the biological evidence for this and then through the use of a recent case show
the gaps in the current court system as well as make recommendations for how to address youth in the
juvenile system in a more effective manner. 2. Great use of Jacob s case study. I d state directly that
you will explore this topic with a recent case in mind. I wonder if there s another source to Jacob s
case...ie Psychology Today or even better a peer reviewed source. But no worries, if not. Juvenile
brain development studies show conclusively that our brains are not fully developed until we reach the
age of 25. Should we or can we take this into account in the juvenile justice system? Juvenile brain
development studies have conclusively shown that our brains are not fully developed until we reach
the age of 25. Research has shown that the white matter in the brain, which controls insights,
judgment, self awareness and empathy, is one of the last parts to fully mature. This lack of fully
developed executive functions should be taken into account in the juvenile justice system. Jacob Ind,
as any child, deserved the love and protection of his parents.

If selected for the Fulbright, I would use the funds to pursue a research based masters in philosophy at
the University of Sheffield. The program is a self structured masters involving a dissertation and

the topics of language and social philosophy such as feminism, global justice, implicit bias, etc. A
focus not only supported through modules and reading groups, but a large faculty of shared interests
and a socially conscious greater campus community. My undergraduate research largely centered
around these topics as did my community work through social justice based organizations on my

Introduction. As Various Operational Concepts Are Discovered
Introduction As various operational concepts are discovered in their application to organizations, the
discovery also lends credence that these concepts can work in accordance with each other,
simultaneously, or in synthesis with processes or procedures at a multitude of stages. While many of
these concepts are borne out of the manufacturing sector, the concepts in this research are applied to
the service sector, or more specifically, a healthcare organization. Most of the function and form of a
healthcare organization is service based, but a medical center gravitates at times to a production
organization in a broader sense. An illness, injury, or debilitation, can be improved, corrected, or made

My First Day Of Babysitting
My first day of babysitting wasn t my idea of a fun time. It totally changed my mind about getting up
close and personal with kids while playing any sort of game or doing any activity. I started babysitting
when i was 14 to make a little cash and it wasn t a big problem because i absolutely loved little kids. I
babysat for my moms friend, Sarah. I ve known her since i was just a toddler, so i grew up being very
close to that family. Then she had a baby and i was so excited because i would have a new buddy, i
was hoping for a girl but that didn t happen. So she had a little boy named Ben. He was adorable, and i
have always loved little babies.. As he got a little older, Sarah needed a weekend babysitter so she
came and talked to my mom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More of the day went by, and it was getting chilly outside so we went in and i made Mac and Cheese
for dinner because that was Ben s Favorite food. After he ate, we sat down and watched some cartoons
and ate some popcorn. After he got tired of all the cartoons he wanted to do some puzzles at the
kitchen table, so i got a few puzzles out and we started doing them and we were having a blast. He is a
really smart little boy so he was really good at them. Here s when i started to not want to babysit ever
again. Were sitting there and he coughed and he cover his mouth with his hand while his cheeks are all
puffed out and looks at me for 5 seconds and i just said Oh no and puke flew out all over me and it
was so much puke and i almost threw up from the smell of it. So i took him to the bathroom to put him
in the shower and get new clothes for the both of us and there was still some puke on the kitchen floor.
So after we got all cleaned up, i went to clean it off the kitchen floor and both of the cat s were eating
the puke and so i d pick them up and move them then they would run right back and continue licking
the puke. Not to long after i finally got all of the mess cleared up, one cat pooped on the carpet and the
one one peed on the carpet and i was so furious. Clear to say i did get paid more after

Tics And Tourette Syndrome
TIC Dsorders: Tics or spasm like movements of particular muscles, often affect face and the eyelids.
These are unvoluntary movements, but the person with tic is maybe able to suppress the actions
shortly. Although, the suppression results in discomfort that grows until it is relieved by performing
again that tic.
Tics are often made of multiple continuous occurrences of the same action. For instance, a tic of
blinking eyes multiple times or twitching nose repeatedly; the vocal tics are like throat clearing,
coughing, and sniffing.
Motor tics can be classified as either simple or complex. Simple motor tics may include movements
such as shoulder shrugging, eye blinking, nose twitching, and head jerking. Complex motor tics are
series of movements performed in the same order. For instance a person might kick out with one leg
and then the other. No one knows exactly what causes tics to occur. Stress might be one of the
triggers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Individuals with chronic Tic disorder have either motor tics or vocal tics that have been present for
more than a year, and individuals with Provisional Tic Disorder have tics that have been present for
less than a year.
Medications could used to reduce motor tics or vocal tics caused by Tourette syndrome. For example
pimozide is a medication that works by decreasing the activity of dopamine in the brain.
In many instances, no treatment is needed, tics could resolve automatically; in other cases behavioral

A Rainy Day And The Temperatures
The Path 1. Today is a rainy day and the temperature has been in the low forties all day. The
environment has shaped my behavior immensely today. I tend to be extremely productive on rainy
days. I love the rain and it puts me in a mellow happy mood and when I m in those moods I tend to do
things to improve my day of life like cleaning and doing homework. Tweaking the environment is
about making the right behaviors a little bit easier and the wrong behavior a little bit harder. I am
actually writing a majority of this paper today, which happens to be black Friday. Usually on black
Friday my parents make my brother and I leave the house. My mom and dad go shopping early in the
morning and wrap a lot of the presents later in the day. Since it was raining and I was kicked out of the
house for the greater good, I figured I would trap myself in Starbucks and crank out as much work as I
could. Having the change of setting and mood of the environment around me I was able to stay more
focused than I would have if I were trying to do work on my kitchen table. I am a person who gets
easily distracted so shaping the environment to make change easier for me would consist of trial and
error for what works. Trying new things and recording their outcome, then sticking to what works best
it a great was to shape the environment and behavior. An Amazon 1 click style tweak I can create for
myself to make my goal easier would be to get a time every week where I go to a quiet place, whether

Benefits Of Raising The Driving Age
Being able to drive your first car is an amazing, once in a lifetime experience that most under the age
of 16 excitingly wait for. If you weren t aware, you are able to legally start driving, but what if that
was taken away? There is an idea that in order for you to drive, you have to be at least twenty one.
This will bring on a slough of consequences. Some consequences may be fantastic like decreased
accidents. Some consequences may seem minor like invalidating younger drivers, but they will turn
into a worse situation. Intriguing isn t it? This idea should not even be considered. Therefore, they
should not raise the driving age and should keep it the way it is. This is necessary because young
adults deserve the right to drive. In addition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an article titled, Pro/Con! Should 16 Be the Driving Age, which is written by Laura Sky Brown
(who happens to be a mother of teenagers) in 2014. The article states, I am in favor of graduated
driver s license programs, which have been rolled out all over the United States...This allows students
to get driving privileges gradually over a period of time, not all at once... The Insurance Institute for
Highway Safety feels strongly that the older teenagers are when they start driving, the fewer accidents
they will get in. If you want your eyes opened, spend some time on the IIHS s risk calculator for teen
drivers. You can dial in your state and see how many fewer accidents there d be with more supervised
driving hours, a longer time between permit and license, and other scenarios. Further in the passage, it
states, So, yes, graduated driver s license laws, which require teens to spend a long time practicing
with an adult co driver and to take a second segment of driver education before the test, are a good
way to drag out the process so kids have as much practice time as possible before they re allowed to
go solo. But when should they start the process? Young, when parents and teachers can still have an
influence. These pieces of evidence prove that measures have already been taken that brought down
the accidents, will continue to bring down accidents and will soon bring down accidents. To

The Yellow Wallpaper
The Yellow Wallpaper Critical Analysis
The short story The Yellow Wallpaper was written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman in an attempt to mirror
her life experiences and express her opinions on many issues of her time. She does so in a way that is
both intriguing and thought provoking to the reader. The main character of the story who stays
unnamed, likely because she is based off of herself, has deep psychological issues which the root of is
unknown and meant to be interpreted from the information in the story. Charlotte Perkins Gilman uses
her struggles and experiences in her own life to channel the main character and create the emotional
whirlwind of a story that she did.
Charlotte Perkins Gilman was born on July 3, 1860 in Hartford, Connecticut. ... Show more content on

In an article published in The Forerunner, Gilman explains what lead her to write The Yellow
Wallpaper. About her treatment methods she says, I went, in devout faith and some faint stir of hope,
to a noted specialist in nervous diseases, the best known in the country. This wise man put me to bed
and applied the rest cure, to which a still good physique responded so promptly that he concluded
there was nothing much the matter with me, and sent me home with solemn advice to live as domestic
a life as far as possible, to have but two hours intellectual life a day, and never to touch pen, brush, or
pencil again as long as I lived. This was in 1887. I went home and obeyed those directions for some
three months, and came so near the borderline of utter mental ruin that I could see over. In the short
story, the narrator must strictly follow the rules that her husband John sets for her which almost
identically mirror the rules that Gilman s specialist recommended for her. John does not allow her to
write and she must sneak writing in her journal when he is not around. Also, he requires her to have a
certain amount of rest each day and to be isolated for much of her day as well. During her constant
isolation in her room is when she began her perpetual obsession with the rooms yellow wallpaper. Her
loneliness caused her subconscious thoughts to take near complete control of herself which is why she
began hallucinating and seeing a woman in the wallpaper and throughout whatever world she saw
through her eyes. During Gilmans real life treatment, she said she almost went through complete utter
ruin, but it is clear that the story s main character surpassed even this level of insanity. It raises the
question, did the wallpaper make the narrator go insane or if she was already insane and saw
something in the wallpaper that wasn t there?

Differences Between Bosnia And South Africa
The apartheid government in South Africa collapsed in 1994, but the new government in South Africa
had to work through the question of dealing with the past in order to move forward. The critical
question was: Should crimes against the victims of apartheid be punished? A country like Bosnia
chose to prosecute the offenders through the establishment of formidable International Criminals
tribunals, while South Africa on the other hand chose the approach of restorative justice and
alternative dispute resolution through the establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee
(TRC). The purpose of this essay is to evaluate the different routes that South Africa and Bosnia have
taken in their approaches to dealing with human rights violations and creating a better society. In that I
am going to compare and contrast Bosnia and South Africa. The three aspects I am going to discuss
are the method of Justice applied, type ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Truth and Reconciliation committee was established after the end of Apartheid. It functioned like
a court which heard grievances from anyone who felt they were victims of gross human rights
violations Similar to the ICTY the TRC had a head of the commission. Desmond Tutu chaired the
commission and navigated the proceedings. This commission required people to face demons of the
past and seek reconciliation at both National and personal level. This latter point is well authenticated
in the article, No future without justice where Desmond Tutu noted that, I wish to make these poor
people whole again. I wish I could wipe the old South Africa out of everyone s past. This to me is one
of the reasons why South Africa still face deep structural societal inequality and the general
unhappiness of the people by whites who still perpetuate themselves in position of power and wealth

The Great Transformation Of Japan After World War II
After World War II a large of Japans transportation systems and cities industries were extremely
harmed (Japan guide.com, N.D). In contrast with China, Japan did not participate in a civil war,
however the effect of World War II killed 3 million individuals, cities destroyed from atomic bombs
from the United States which left a large number of citizens homeless. Regardless of this, great
transformation started. From 1945 and 1952 the United States and its ally s forces, Great Britain,
Republic of China and Soviet Union set out in the restoration of Japan. The US possessing powers,
drove by General Douglas A. MacArthur, enacted widespread military, political, economic and social

Erich Fromm Escape From Freedom
In his book Escape From Freedom, Erich Fromm asserts that the right to express our own thoughts...
means something only if we are able to have thoughts on our own (240). By this statement, he means
that having the freedom of individual thought is only relevant if individuals can actually form thoughts
on their own (i.e. without outside influence). He supports this by pointing to the suppression of
spontaneous emotions in our culture, our education system s focus on facts rather than thinking, and
an emphasis on truth being relative. Fromm says that the suppression of spontaneity begins as a child:
when children act up and display hostility towards another person or situation, parents employ many
methods to try to get the child to stop. Eventually, the child starts with giving up the expression of his
feeling and eventually gives up the very feeling itself (242). This means that at first, a child will begin
to stop throwing tantrums in public, but will eventually suppress the idea of even having that reaction.
Fromm goes as far as asserting that as we grow older, we are trained to suppress the awareness of
hostility and insincerity in others. Thus, we are not expressing our own feelings about the situation
(which probably involve wanting to retort with equal disdain or sarcasm), but rather going along with
what society has dictated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This takes away the basic impetuses of thinking, which are people s own thoughts and feelings.
Fromm says that in general, those without power tend to cling on to the objective truth as their only
weapon; however, because the rest of society views truth as subjective, individuals are guided away
from this behavior, as it provides no benefit to them. This continues the cycle of individuals
mindlessly (or perhaps reluctantly) integrating themselves into society s

Suicide -A Serious Issue
Suicide is a serious issue although not uncommon. Suicide can be thought of or actually done because
of different problems such as money issues, depression, or feeling alone like there is no way out.
Suicide is often thought as an easy solution, people see it as the end. Although that s even if they
succeed at it, they don t stop and think what if they fail and how they can permanently injure
themselves. Some people think that others claim they might do it to receive attention, which is
probably true but only very few times. Either way it is not worth risking. According to the centers for
disease control and prevention suicide is the eleventh cause of death among Americans overall, it is
the third leading cause of death among young people in the U.S. Young people have a tendency of
thinking if something goes wrong it s the end of the world. One of the main causes of suicide is
money. Although some people believe money is the key to happiness that is not true. In refrance to our
text book De Botton, We can regard our life as a uselessly disturbing episode in the blissful repose of
nothingness. Human existence must be a kind of error. It may be said of it, it is bad today and
everyday it will get worst, until the worst of all happends. This was said by philosophers
Schopenhauer s father. Schopenhauer s father was believed to have committed suicide, although he
was a wealthy man. Schopenhauer s father made sure to leave a fortune for his seventeen year old
soon, to

  • 3. Child Soldiers in India The military use of young children takes three distinct forms: children can take direct part in hostilities (child soldiers), or they can be used in support roles such as porters, spies, messengers, look outs, and sexual slaves; or they can be used for political advantage either as human shields or in propaganda. Throughout history and in many cultures, children have been extensively involved in military campaigns even when such practices were supposedly against cultural morals. Since the 1970s a number of international conventions have come into effect that try to limit the participation of children in armed conflicts, nevertheless the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers reports that the use of children in military forces, and ... Although not obliged to sign up for military service, cadets who succeeded in passing exams were given concessions when applying to the army, navy or air force as well as auxiliary forces. Cadets were involved in relief operations in southern India following the 2004 Asian tsunami. * Child recruitment and deployment The lack of systematic birth registration, particularly in rural areas, made it difficult to verify ages, making it impossible to rule out the possibility that under 18s might participate actively in hostilities. There were active recruitment drives targeting youths , particularly in the Kashmir valley. * Detention of children There was evidence that in areas of armed conflict children accused of being members of armed groups were detained, often in violation of national legislation designed to protect children in conflict with the law. In Manipur it was alleged that the system established under the Juvenile Justice Act 2000 was non functioning due to inadequate resources; in particular no juvenile home had been established. As a result, security forces (including police) who detained children in anti insurgency operations were reportedly claiming that they were over 18 when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Children deserve and need the best possible start in their lives in order for them to fulfil their full potential in their learning and development (Terry, 2009). A happy, healthy and supportive childhood will help children to achieve the best that they possibly can (Smeyers and Wring, 2007). In the past there have been people that have had theories that relate to child development and learning of children in childcare settings; these people are known as educational pioneers and are well respected as their theories have changed childcare for the better (Meggitt et al, 2011). Friedrich Froebel (1782 1852), the great German educator, is famous pre eminently for his radical insight that the first learning experiences of the very young are of crucial importance in influencing not only their later educational achievements but also the health and development of society as a whole (Weston, 1998). Friedrich Froebel had the idea that children learn best through play and by having real experiences and from these theories he was the founder of the first ever kindergarten in 1840 (Meggitt et al, 2011). Following the theory that children learn best through play, Frobel introduced toys that he called, Froebel Gifts or gaben which included balls, wooden blocks, rings, tiles and sticks which were all the key elements of Froebel s kindergarten (Watson, 2002). Froebel s ideas are very similar to those that construct the EYFS that all childcare providers use today. Here is a table showing a summary of his ideas and how they are similar to and link with the EYFS: Froebel | EYFS | Schools should be closely involved with parents and that they should be welcome to join their children ... Mexican Cuisine Mexican cuisine, a style of food that originates in Mexico, is known for its varied flavors, colourful decoration and variety of spices and ingredients, most of which are native to the country. This blending and variations have given rise to a number of varieties of Mexican cheeses. These are most popular in the country although European cheeses are made as well. When you use time out you remove a child from a location and isolate them from the other children in the room so they can calm down. With quiet time, instead of isolating them you sit the child near the caregiver. You still are making sure that the child is removed from others so they can calm down but isn t completely isolated from the other children. Like with time out, you still need to make sure the child calms down and you talk with the child about a different choice they could have made that is acceptable. This method is the preferred method of guidance because it eliminates isolation but still provides the alone time the child needs to calm down. Isolation can inappropriately scare ... Over the past few years, Kesha Rose was bound to an exclusive contract with Dr. Luke which hasn t allowed her to release or produce any new music. She claimed in a lawsuit that this contract enabled Dr. Luke to control every aspect of her life. Kesha has accused him of both verbal and sexual abuse during this contract. As of March 2017, Dr. Luke s role as CEO of his record company has been expired and Sony, the company that owned Dr. Luke s record label didn t renew it, and has released Kesha from her contract. Now, Kesha is able to release new music she writes on her own, all seen on her new album Rainbow which Praying is on. To develop the underlying message of the song, Kesha uses setting, point of view, and symbolism throughout her music video. She does this by speaking in the background as an inner monologue, letting the viewer/listener know that she is only asking herself these questions. Kesha is doing this because it shows how she feels and her attitude towards not only her life, but the concept of why she should be alive. • 10. Christopher Columbus And The Middle Of A Population Revival In the mid 15th century, Europe was in the middle of a population revival as well as a boost in economic activity after the Black Death. Some Iberian explorers began setting out on voyages, as the revival created a demand of luxuries, such as spices, in the East. This expansion also was also caused by religious fervor. The Christian reconquista encouraged the Portuguese and Spanish to continue the Christian crusade. Portugal sent Vasco da Gama and Spain sent Christopher Columbus to find a trading route to Asia (History, 432). Both da Gama and Columbus were sailors on a mission to Asia, but the nature of their expedition and the consequences set them apart. Christopher Columbus was a Genoese map maker. Knowledgeable about the ocean, he had experience with Portuguese navigational developments and using a compass as a nautical tool. Columbus was also a religious man, and saw Christianity as a missionary religion. In fact, he planned to spread Christianity to the people in Asia. Columbus was not just inspired by his Christian faith, but also by the work done by geographers and travelers before him. In his first voyage, The Enterprise of the Indies , he set out to find a direct trading route to Asia. In 1486, he was rejected by the Portuguese for any funding, but in 1492, the king and queen of Spain funded his journey. Columbus is known to be a controversial figure. • 11. The Theory Of The Social Learning Theory The act of learning is an innate characteristic belonging to people across the globe. Learning can take place in many different forms (reading, writing, speaking, listening, excellency in a particular skill, etc.) and settings, generalizing from one content area to another. It also occurs at varying rates across a diverse spectrum of populations and can be influenced by any number of factors including personalities, perceived abilities, societal values and environment. Some individuals acquire information best in formal settings, like the direct instruction or supports found in a classroom, while others may benefit more from informal instruction, learning incidentally from their surroundings. Throughout the course of history, there have been many perspectives regarding education and the manner in which individuals learn best. I will primarily focus on the educational perspective of the Social Learning Theory and briefly discuss its history as well as its prominent figures, components, and implications in regard to language and literacy both inside and outside of the classroom. In 1954 Julian B. Rotter developed the Social Learning Theory that gravitated away from Freud s psychoanalysis and Skinner s behaviorism that focused on behavior rather than intrinsic thought. They were the most popular theories during that time, focusing on experimental methods, emphasizing variables that are observable, measurable, and manipulatable, avoiding whatever is subjective, internal, ... • 12. The First Ten Amendments Of The First Amendment On the cold night of March 5th, 1770, a mob of American colonists were protesting outside the Customs House in Boston. One colonist threw a snowball hitting Private Hugh Montgomery. Montgomery replied with a shot into the crowd. This led the rest of the British Army soldiers to shoot into the crowd killing five people in an event that would later be known as the Boston Massacre (Foner and Garraty). After this protest, more and more taxes were levied against the colonies, particularly regarding tea. To add, trade with nations besides Great Britain was prohibited. These affronts were met with the tarring and feathering of British tax collectors and the infamous Boston Tea Party. As a result of this, Massachussetts was essentially ruled by martial law. This finally culminated with a declaration of independence by the Second Continental Congress on July 4th, 1776. The United States of America was formed. Due to the British oppression, every American, including our founding founders, wanted greater protection of their rights. To accomplish this, James Madison drafted the Bill of Rights and by the end of 1791, every state had ratified the first ten amendments. The First Amendment is primary, not just because it is at the beginning, but because it articulates the First Freedom and the nature of that freedom. It states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. By connecting the freedom of religion with the freedoms of speech and press, the First Amendment showed the people of America what it is to be a human (Bill of Rights). The first part of that amendment is the result of the Founding Fathers experience with the long history of religious strife in Europe such as the French Wars of Religion, the Thirty Years War, and the Crusades. They realized that religious disagreement can be counterproductive and create setbacks in politics. It would be even worse if one religious group was favored. So, they ensured that the federal government cannot interfere in the citizen s personal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Dualistic Social Roles In Victor Hugo s Les Misérables In Victor Hugo s novel Les Misérables, a man named Jean Valjean is imprisoned for nineteen years for stealing a loaf of bread. Though he goes in a good man, he comes out troubled, judged, and angry. The simple kindness and compassion showed to him by a bishop inspires him to change and rise above his past. Throughout his book, Victor Hugo uses metaphor, symbolism, and diction to emphasize the remarkably non dualistic nature between the saint and the sinner, highlighting society s divine obligation to treat one another with mercy and love. By using metaphor, symbolism, and diction, Hugo is able to shed light on a social issue of his day in a way that allows the reader relate to and understand a misunderstood class of society. The passage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being a religious leader, one might expect him to be very black and white about good and evil, yet he is not (at least not in the way that one might expect). He has the authority to judge others but he leaves it to God. Instead of focusing on the duality of religion (righteousness and sin), he decides to focus on the non dualistic side of religion: the people and their worth as individuals. This perspective was very different from the church of Hugo s day. For this, he would get a lot of complaints and attacks from the Catholic church concerning Les Misérables, perhaps signifying the powerful influence of his choice in character. As the Bishop s doctrine is summarized, Hugo continues to implement literary devices such as personification and imagery to help the reader visualize the sinner s condition. Man has upon him flesh, the Bishop states, which is at once his burden and his temptation. This flesh is personified so as to become an actual living figure of opposition. He drags it with him and yields to it, the Bishop teaches, He must watch it, cheek it, repress it, and obey it only at the last extremity . The flesh , of course, symbolizes the struggle of the natural man and the temptations that the sinner succumbs to. Hugo s choice of words like drag and burden generate the feeling of heaviness found in the temptation that the mortal man bears. In the next ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today, I introduce myself as an artist and a prospective art therapist. I grew up in South Korea, that is mono cultural, and spent my first 25 years in Seoul, the capital city, having an ordinary childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. Although my life is not remarkable like that of many artists, some distinct features nurtured me as an artist and a prospective art therapist. I was engaged in artistic activities since childhood. In a traditional art class of a Korean high school, students normally learned to draw a plaster model, an oriental painting, and a watercolor still life painting, which were boring for teenagers. They were evaluated by their depiction skills and techniques, and competence in using art materials. However, the instruction of the art teacher in my high school was unique. She obtained permission from the school and to modify the curriculum for the students in order to get them motivated. She truly wanted to encourage and excite her students through her art classes. As adolescents felt that, design was attractive at that time. The art teacher suggested a new design art curriculum instead of the boring instructions. This, T shirt and textile designs, drew students attention even before we started the process, many students participated in, and enjoyed, the art class. We created silk screen printing on T shirts and tie dyed handkerchiefs in her class. This instruction also facilitated an atmosphere of communication. Silk screen printing required at least two people, therefore, we partnered and cooperated together. While tie dying, students actively interacted, sharing various colors and produced impressive handkerchiefs. The class was noisy yet everyone was focused and enjoyed their artwork; it was close to play , rather than an art class, and enough to capture students interest, student who had only used paint and brushed previously. The walls of the classrooms were decorated by splendid handkerchiefs. Unlike the art we had learned in traditional art class, this was exciting and practical. Marketing, Web Design And Web Development Kira Godwin CST 300 September 23, 2014 Marketing, Web Design and Web Development Web design is a blend of creativity and technicality, or graphic design and web development. As a result of this blend the industry s necessary skills, necessary education, and job offerings can be variable. Individuals interested in this industry should attempt to vary their skill sets as much as possible. Companies such as a Forix, combine marketing, design and technical skills to customize their products. Additionally, individuals should expect to discover that some careers will rely more heavily on technical skills, while other careers rely more heavily on design skills. The web design and development industry are relatively new. This modern industry was built off of the inventions of 1974, when computer researchers invented the internet protocol suite (TCP/IP). TCP/IP is somewhat like human communication: when we speak to each other, the rules of grammar provide structure to language and ensure that we can understand each other and exchange ideas. Similarly, TCP/IP provides the rules of communication that ensure interconnected devices understand each other so that they can send information back and forth. (Google Chrome Team, 2010, pg. 5). It was not until 1989 that the internet was conceived. A man named Tim Berners Lee created the World Wide Web server through HTML or, hypertext markup language. • 17. Global Climate Change Causes And Effects On The... What do you know about global climate change? Do you think we create this problem in the twentieth first century to damage our planet. This problem started at the beginning of civilization and became worse during the Industrial Revolution of the eighteenth century. Older generations generated more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuel and deforestation. More carbon dioxide had a negative impact on the ecosystems of the planet. And the scientific definition of global climate represents changes in the earth s weather and temperature. When higher greenhouse gas concentrates in the atmosphere, the earth becomes warmer. Water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane are the gases that lead to the greenhouse effect. Pollution of the earth causes damage to the ozone layer in the atmosphere, and it s easy for the sun rays to pass in the earth. Global climate change causes a negative impact on the environment and the world s oceans. Global climate change causes many problems for the planet. The population growth of earth is 7.125 billion. Can anybody imagine how much greenhouse gas we produce in the atmosphere? Because they re more people on the earth, we need more natural resources in daily life. In an article published in The Forerunner, Gilman explains what lead her to write The Yellow Wallpaper. About her treatment methods she says, I went, in devout faith and some faint stir of hope, to a noted specialist in nervous diseases, the best known in the country. This wise man put me to bed and applied the rest cure, to which a still good physique responded so promptly that he concluded there was nothing much the matter with me, and sent me home with solemn advice to live as domestic a life as far as possible, to have but two hours intellectual life a day, and never to touch pen, brush, or pencil again as long as I lived. This was in 1887. I went home and obeyed those directions for some three months, and came so near the borderline of utter mental ruin that I could see over. In the short story, the narrator must strictly follow the rules that her husband John sets for her which almost identically mirror the rules that Gilman s specialist recommended for her. John does not allow her to write and she must sneak writing in her journal when he is not around. Also, he requires her to have a certain amount of rest each day and to be isolated for much of her day as well. During her constant isolation in her room is when she began her perpetual obsession with the rooms yellow wallpaper. Her loneliness caused her subconscious thoughts to take near complete control of herself which is why she began hallucinating and seeing a woman in the wallpaper and throughout whatever world she saw through her eyes. Erich Fromm Escape From Freedom In his book Escape From Freedom, Erich Fromm asserts that the right to express our own thoughts... means something only if we are able to have thoughts on our own (240). By this statement, he means that having the freedom of individual thought is only relevant if individuals can actually form thoughts on their own (i.e. without outside influence). He supports this by pointing to the suppression of spontaneous emotions in our culture, our education system s focus on facts rather than thinking, and an emphasis on truth being relative. Fromm says that the suppression of spontaneity begins as a child: when children act up and display hostility towards another person or situation, parents employ many methods to try to get the child to stop. Eventually, the child starts with giving up the expression of his feeling and eventually gives up the very feeling itself (242). This means that at first, a child will begin to stop throwing tantrums in public, but will eventually suppress the idea of even having that reaction. Fromm goes as far as asserting that as we grow older, we are trained to suppress the awareness of hostility and insincerity in others.
