Operation Eagle Claw, And It Was A Failure
November 4th 1979American personnel at the US embassy are taken hostage in
Teheran, Iran. The United States had never faced a hostage situation like this before.
It did not have the Joint Special Operations Task Force trained in planning the
mission or the resources for low visibility clandestine missions. The mission to save
the hostages is called Operation Eagle Claw, and it was a failure. This mission on the
other hand highlighted areas in the military that need tobe improved, and when the
country required to carry out special operation missions in the future those resources
would be there and ready.
Militant student, followers of the Ayatollah stormed the Embassy and took all
personnel hostage. This was the second time in 1979 the embassy was taken and only
a few people remained behind its gates. The students only planned to take the
hostages for a few days, hopping that the United States would return the ousted Shah,
to face trial. When the US refused, to return the Shah, the stalemate began, and the
students held the hostages for 444 days.
The US realized that the hostages are not being released as before, and a rescue

The Russian Revolutions, a series of revolts, coordinated by 3 very powerful men
part of a powerful group called the Bolsheviks, at a time when Russia future seems
uncertain. Men and women will fight for what they believe is the right government,
it will take only a couple of months for the entire Russian infrastructure to be torn
apart. A time when war wages on and hunger and sickness is at home, a time when
millions of lives are being taken by the war. But this time, citizens will not shrug it
off and go on with their lives. No, this time is different, this is the time of the Russian

Instead Germany wanted Lenin to go to Russia and have Russia get out of the war to
help Germany. Then Germany sent Lenin on a locked train to Russia, where he
supposedly got money from Germany. This is why people thought Lenin was a
spy. Many people did not care though, the Bolsheviks did not care one bit and
neither, at this time, did the provisional government care as well. But to this day
we will never know the relationship between Lenin and the Germans. Now the

Then Lenin dies on January, 21, 1924, at exactly 6:30 pm. Now Joseph Stalin and
Leon Trotsky would have to decide who would take Lenin s place. Stalin forced
Trotsky in to exile and got rid of the threat for his power. Stalin would now be able
to mold Russia into whatever he would like. By 1928 Stalin is head of the
communist party. Lenin never wanted Stalin to get into power, calling him evil
and cold hearted. Stalin now had the power to become an absolute dictator, and he
took the opportunity at hand. Russia is now in the hands of a very terrible ruler,
Joseph Vladimir, or after he changed his name to Stalin, meaning man of steel. He
has gotten rid of the republic that was once Russia, and turned it into his country
and no one else s. Most of the Bolsheviks leaders are rounded up and killed by
Stalin during the great purge. He gets rid of every Bolsheviks idea for the
government, and makes up his own dictatorship called totalitarianism. Stalin caused
police terror, indoctrination, and censorship. The censorship that Stalin used
everything that was read or watched. He wanted the media to portray him as a hero,
kids would stand in front of their desks and say, thank comrade Stalin for this great

Chronicle Of A Death Foretold Essay
Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Marquez tells the story of the murder of a
young man called Santiago Nasar. The novel is narrated by a man who returns to his
hometown twenty seven years after the murder and attempts to reconstruct the events
of the crime through the memories of other townspeople. Contrary to its title,
Chronicle of a Death Foretold is technically not a chronicle. Instead, it is an
amalgamation of the information the narrator compiles from the townspeople he
interviews. Upon reading the text, the reader will find that the narrator is largely
unreliable due to his personal relationships and biases which prevent him from
relating the story with complete impartiality. Nevertheless, the narrator plays an
essential role in helping the reader to understand the work and its major themes. The
story is told in a non chronological, journalistic style, and reads rather like a
retrospective , fragmented report. The narrator, being limited in his knowledge of the
crime and the events leading up to it, must rely on the memories of others to

What do you think of when you think of an old country song? Is it singing about
plowing the fields, find a young lassie to dance with in the bar, getting drunk with
the boys and so on. If That Ain t Country by David Allan Coe tries to shine a new
light on what country is and that is white trash hicks, which he suggests are
forgotten people in the world. We listen to this song and will giggle at some of the
lyrics or are startled by how some parts are pretty racist, but it has a very true side
of it that shows that country folk aren t all classy, church going folk. The

In William Shakespeare s Hamlet and Sophocles Oedipus the King, fate and free
will both play a critical role that ultimately lead to both protagonists downfall.
Prince Hamlet has more control over his actions and the choices he makes, whereas
Oedipus fate overpowers his will. The nature of knowledge and ignorance play a
significant role as Hamlet exhibits self awareness while Oedipusis impulsive and
ignorant about the truth about his parenthood. Lastly, Hamlet is reluctant to succumb
to his fate, while Oedipus surrenders himself to accept the painful truth about his
destiny by letting the prophecy take control of the events in his life, overpowering his

Oedipus exhibits excessive hubris throughout the play, especially when he claims
he can escape the fate of his prophecy. This is evident when he commits blasphemy
by asking himself why he is to study Apollo s oracle, or gaze at the birds screaming
(Sophocles 53), not realizing that his excessive pride is leading him to his fate.
Although he tries to exert his free will, he does not have a choice but to surrender
himself after experiencing his downfall caused by his hubris. After learning the truth,
he painfully realizes that his life is controlled only by fate, and cries out, Light, let
this be the last time I see you (69). He punishes himself by surrendering and blinding
himself, symbolizing his blindness to the truth when he had sight. In contrast, Hamlet
does not let fate control him, rather he chooses the paths he takes. Evidently, Hamlet
s paths are driven by his psychological conflicts and beliefs. Some psychological
conflicts include him overthinking before putting himself into action, like when he
misunderstands that King Claudius is praying (Shakespeare 3.3.81). He thinks that it
will not be revenge but rather the deeds of hire and salary (3.3.80). This is a
personal choice that Hamlet makes as a result of his careful analysis. He is reluctant
to surrender himself to fate, assuming that belief that Claudius, his enemy, might go

Gas Porosity Lab Report
As stated previously, the objective of this porosity lab is to calculating the effective
porosity of a core plug sample by measuring the bulk and grain densities. The
effective porosites calculated for the core plug sample using various techniques did
not show huge differences. After using the caliper to obtain five different diameters
and three different lengths readings for the core plug sample at various locations, we
were able to obtain an average diameter of 3.86cm3 and an avarage length of
5.24cm3.
After obatining various pressure values during our lab experiement, these values
were used to calculate of constants of the porosimeter. It observed a higher volume
two (V2В¬) value (275.88cm3) then volume one (V1) value (122.2cm3).
Futhermore, we were able to obtain the core grain volume and the value for pore
volume from the Gas Porosimeter. Obtaining all the necessary values from our

Having the ability to break the law also causes people to have lack of moral
conscience even if they disapprove of bootleggers. Tom Buchanan and Myrtle
Wilson?s immorality becomes apparent when the reader finds out that Tom and
Myrtle are having an affair. This is clear attempt by Fitzgerald to display the lack
of care for morals in 1920 America. Tom is married to Daisy and Myrtle is married
to George, however they both have no problem in deceiving their spouses and
supposed love for life. What Fitzgerald really does to prove lack of care in the
1920s is make it very clear to the reader that everyone is aware of the affair. This is
revealed to the reader when Jordan Baker, a friend of the Buchanan says to Nick,
the narrator, ??You mean you don?t know?? Miss Baker, honestly surprised. ?I
thought everyone knew.?? This quotation makes it obvious to the reader that
although everyone in the novel knows of the affair, nobody does anything to stop
it, therefore displaying to the reader the lack interest people have in the affair
going on between Tom and Myrtle. Even Daisy, Tom?s wife, does not do anything
about it, pointing to the flaw that people married for money and not love in the
1920s. Daisy and Tom?s marriage is a symbol for the mistake many people make by
