The Beliefs Between Christians And Mormons
The beliefs between Christians and Mormons are very different. Some would say that they are
different because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is a cult. There has been great debate
about whether or not the LDS church is a cult or part of the Christian religion. People believe that
Mormonism is a cult, mostly because of the very different theology between The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter day Saints and biblical teachings. Mormonism holds authority to The Book of
Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price, and parts of the Bible that do not
contradict Mormon doctrine (Cultwatch.com).
So, whether is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is by definition a cult or not, there is
some major differences between Mormon theology and biblical teaching. One of the biggest and very
different beliefs of Christian and Mormon is faith is God and human beings becoming gods. This
paper will explore the Mormon belief of exaltation and God.
History of Joseph Smith and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints:
Joseph Smith Jr., born to Joseph and Lacy Mack Smith, started The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
day Saints or LDS Church. Joseph Smith was born on December 23 of 1805. When Joseph Smith was
a young teenager, he was wondering what church he should join. He came across James 1:5, if any of
you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will
be given to you . One day, Joseph Smith went

The Resistance Of Miep Gies During The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a very hard time for everyone. Miep Gies was one of the people in the group that
helped hide Anne Frank and the rest of her family. Although Miep Gies didn t think of herself as an
heroic women she is very heroic in many ways. The Holocaust affected everyone, I believe that the it
is a very hard and emotional topic to talk about.
There were many different resistance efforts throughout the Holocaust. On 12 September 1942, the
town was assaulted by about 150 partisan soldiers who killed thirty SS officers, soldiers, and police.
They broke through the wall, evacuated the 30 Jews remaining and burned the ghetto to the ground
before retreating into the surrounding woodland.
There were a lot of non Jews that helped the different

Volunteering Research Paper
SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY
Throughout my life, I have always wanted to help people in any way that I can. That is why since i
was young, i have done anything I can to help those in need. My earliest memories of volunteering is
when i was 7 years old, I went with my dad and other people from my church to give the sacrament to
people in a old folks home, sometimes having to help feed it to them because they were unable. since
then, i have tried to keep that spirit of volunteerism going. Another example of how I helped volunteer
was after the oil spill in the gulf of mexico. When i was ten my boy scout troop went down to
Galveston beach and spent the day cleaning plastic and other waste off the many beaches there. Two
years later when I was twelve, I went again with my boy scout troop and we spent a few weekends in

One weekend we planted trees at a neighborhood park, and the following weekend we went to a local
preschool and helped rebuild their playground that had been destroyed in a flood in Houston. Since
then I have tried my best to keep my good deeds going. After moving to Kwajalein in 2016, I was
moved by the massive poverty on the nearby Ebeye island. Because of this, I gathered my old toys
from when I was young and donated them to the kids on Ebeye, seeing as they needed them more than
I did. As well I have helped set up the last two basket auctions with my mom, and have volunteered at
the Bargain Bazaar as well. When I temporarily moved back to the United States and attended
Edmonds Community College, I wanted to keep volunteering in anyway I could. I went with some
other people from school and helped pickup international students from countries such as Korea,
China, Indonesia, and France. I knew how they felt moving to a new country where they did not speak
the language, and decided to help them

Evolution Of Science Classes At School
Being raised in a Christian family, I have attended Catholic school my whole life. That being said, I
have grown up studying Bible stories since before I can remember. Probably the most prominent and
well known of these stories in Christian theology is, of course, the story of creation. To this day, I still
remember how the story goes. On the first day, God created the earth and daylight. For six days after,
he continued creation and included the sky, the ocean, plants, animals, and humans. Growing up, I
always believed in a literal interpretation of this story, and thought everything was created within an
exact week. However, as I got older, I learned about evolution in science classes at school. I soon
discovered that many of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While a large number of people in the scientific field strongly believe in evolution, a group of people
known as creationists and creation scientists seem to disagree. Creationism is the belief that the
biblical record of primeval history in Genesis 1 11 is factual, historical, and clearly understandable
and, therefore, that all things were created and made in six literal days (Morris). Creationists believe
evolution completely contradicts with their religious beliefs; therefore, they do not agree with it.
Creation science is a branch of creationism that focuses on providing scientific reasoning behind
creationism. Creation scientist Jack Wellman describes evolution saying it presents a world view
without God and that there is only survival of the fittest and that there is no real purpose for mankind.
In between evolutionists and creationists falls theistic evolutionists, who believe in both creation by
God and evolution. Since these people interpret the Bible in a metaphoric sense rather than literal,
they believe that religious teachings about creation do not conflict with evolutionary concepts.
For the most part, evolutionists and theistic evolutionists, aka people who believe in evolution, all
seem to agree that evolution should be taught in US public schools. Interestingly enough, I have not
yet found someone who is pro evolution and does not think it should be discussed in the classroom.
However, there are creation scientists who think

Initially, there have been many times that one procedure cannot produce the right outcome for what

Zoology And Religion In Yann Martel s Life Of Pi
Martel (2002:19) I know zoos are no longer in people good graces and religion faces the same
problem. Certain illusions about freedom plague them both . Through this quote the reader notice that
there are aspects related between zoology and religion in Life of Pi. In the beginning of the novel we
are introduced to zoology and religion. The author make it clear to the reader that Pi had majors in
both subjects zoology and religion and later use that knowledge to help him do things one can say is
impossible.
Zoology is defined as the scientific study of animals (YourDictionary) . Zoology has always been a
very big factor throughout Pi s childhood as he grew up with a father who ran a zoo. Pi was awarded
for being the best student in zoology and because of his excellence and the knowledge he had about

Yann Martel used thirst as an important element throughout the book. It is also linked to the tiger s
original name. Pi is not physical or mentally thirsty for water but rather for the spirit of God. Through
Pi s thirst for God s spirit Yann Martel creates a link to the Bible and Pi as the savior, Christ died in a
hard way but only complained about being thirsty. Yann Martel compares Christ s suffering with the
suffering of Pi on the lifeboat with no water. With that aspects being compared the reader can already
estimate the future conditions that there will be a positive outcome of Pi s tragic journey just like there
was with Christ. Pi could not let his fear for the tiger stand in his way of being alive. If he would have
allowed that, that would have caused him to get scared, lose his concentration and becoming
vulnerable to the tiger. Deep down he knew there was a living God that will help and guide

Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the health topic of arthritis. Firstly, the different types of
arthritis are discussed, with definitions given for two of the more common forms, Osteoarthritis and
Rheumatoid Arthritis. This will be followed by a discussion about assessment tools that have been
developed to help those with rheumatoid arthritis.
There are many different types of arthritis. These include: Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis,
Fibromyalgia, Psoriatic Arthritis, Juvenile Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Gout, Polymyalgia
Rheumatic and Lupus (Arthritis Ireland).

The Bolshevik Regime s Ability to Defeat Its Opponents by 1922
By the end of 1919, with only a few isolated groups of Anti Bolsheviks fighting, the Bolshevik regime
was evidently winning the Russian Civil War. The reasons which lie behind their ability to defeat all
their opponents by 1922 is mainly due to a well disciplined and equipped army, Lenin s strong,
purposeful leadership and the advantage of the disunity of the Anti Bolshevik force.
The Russian Civil War started when serious fighting broke out in May 1918 during the transportation
of 45,000 Czech prisoners of war to Vladivostok with the Soviets of a town on the railway. As more

The Red Terror and the way Trotsky kept his word, once shooting one in ten of the soldiers in a group
of army that ran away by a firing squad, ensured that members of the Red Army were fighting their
best. Hence, the Red Army was very well disciplined and well directed under Trotsky, compared to the
unrelated White forces under rival generals.
Another advantage which helped the Bolshevik regime win the Civil War was Lenin s strong,
purposeful leadership compared to the lack of purpose and disunity of the white army. The Bolsheviks
was a united force, they were organized and their purpose were all to win the Civil War so they could
continue with governing Russia and bring about reforms. On the other hand, the Anti Bolsheviks were
not a united force, the groups of Czechs, socialist revolutionaries, democrats, landlords, nobles and the
armies of intervention from Britain, France, America and Japan all had different purposes. Some
wanted a more democratic system of government, many favored monarchy, others were resentful
towards the way the Bolsheviks pushed the Socialist Revolutionaries out of

John Orr Fire Essay
By the time John Orr was convicted of four counts of murder for the South Pasadena hardware store
fire, he had already served six years in prison. Orr was convicted of three counts of arson. At the end,
Orr was convicted using his very own signature homemade incendiary device. Fellow firefighters
began suspecting that the arsonist was one of their own after conference of arson investigators. During
the conference period, an oddly large amount of fire broke out. During that time fires broke out in
fabric shops, drugstores, and craft shops. At a craft shop in Bakersfield, California a fire broke out in a
display of dried flowers. At the scene, investigators found charred remnants of what appeared a simple
incendiary device a filter tipped cigarette and matches, held together with a rubber band. One of the
devices was partially wrapped in yellow paper (Bovsun, 2014). Though many of the investigator
believe this was the work of an expert attending the arson conference, it could not be proven.
Again in March of 1989, an outbreak of fire coincided with another arson investigators conference. At
the scene the same filter tipped cigarette and matches, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Reasons to Invest in Lionsgate Essay
I believe that Lionsgate is a film studio that s set for some big growth in the next few years, and I wish
I had a big bag of money to invest. I have come up with five very good reasosn why i want to invest in
Lionsgate.
The Hunger Game series: As you ve probably heard, read, and/or seen by now, there s a new
blockbuster franchise on the block, and in the last ten days it s already made $362 million. It s headed
easily north of $500 million and probably above $700 million, plus another nine figure haul on DVD
and Blu ray, not to mention merchandising. The sequel, entitled Catching Fire, is already scheduled
for a November 2013 release, and will likely build on the mega success of the first film. There s also
talk of turning the third and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meanwhile, you re wondering what the big deal is about the Step Up franchise, right? Well, the
previous three films combined cost only around $60 million to make, and brought home $424 million
at the box office, plus DVD and Blu ray sales and rentals that probably pushed the total to more than
$500 million. Half a billion bucks off a $60 million investment isn t too shabby, and each film has
made more money than the last one. With the fourth film releasing this July, and the take from
previous installments now going to Lionsgate, it s a nice low budget property that s provided big
returns and seems capable of churning out sequels indefinitely.
The Expendables series The first film in Sylvester Stallone s series was a hit, and the sequel has upped
the ante with the inclusion of widely popular action stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck
Norris. So expect this one to top the box office of the previous entry, somewhere north of $300 million
at theaters before a nice additional run on the home theater market where profit margins are enormous.
The films are popular because they are a throwback to the golden age of modern action films, and they
answer the question, What if everybody who ever kicked butt got together to kick each other s butts all
at once? The answer, of course, is $$$. Lionsgate also has some other

The Quality Of Language Input And Early Onset Effects On...
The two previous studies exemplify that the quality of language input and early onset has significant
effects on linguistic and sub linguistic mechanisms. It calls into question whether input quality is
predictive of later sign language skills in deaf education program settings. In spoken languages, the
quality and quantity of language input is predictive of a child s later linguistic abilities (Cartmill et al.,
2013). However, most deaf children entering education have hearing parents, creating a barrier to
language development. Many deaf programs support bilingual philosophies in which the basis of
English is also taught in order to facilitate communication between the deaf and non deaf communities
(Murphy Swiller, 2014). Leah Nicole Murphy Swiller (2014) investigates input quality within deaf
education settings using American Sign Language (ASL). She hypothesizes that deaf participants
learning language through slightly different modalities will differ in their ASL receptive skills and
their comprehension of English grammar knowledge, even after educational instruction. This is done
by comparing approximately one hundred and forty nine 4 and 5 year old deaf children at schools in
26 states across the United States of America. The deaf children are divided into three groups: those
with ASL as their first language (L1), English as their L1, and those who spoke a sign supported
English. These groups are compared to a control group of same aged hearing peers. All children

The Role Of Art In The Aztec Art
Art was used by the Aztecs upper class to set them apart from the lower class. They adorned
themselves with feathers, jewelry and fancy clothes. The rich also owned paintings, statues and music
to honor and praise their gods. Most of the lower class, however, could make art but only to sell to the
rich. The Aztec empire had an appreciation and fascination with birds, bugs and animals. These
animals were praised and admired and as a result, they were popular subjects in the Aztec art. Aztecs
believed that their gods took the forms of animals. Paintings of them were always brightly colored.
The Emperor received art as tribute. The Aztecs considered art as a tool to reinforce their dominance.
Jewelry made from copper, jade, obsidian and gold was also reserved for the Emperor. He had such a
variety of clothing and jewelry, it is said that he never wore the same thing twice. There were rules in
the Aztec society that told which rank of people could wear which type of clothing. For example, only
nobles and the Emperor could wear clothing decorated with feathers, beads and other pretty things.
Farmers and other lower class people could not. If this law was broken, the consequence was death.
The Emperor and noble families also had their bodies pierced so they could wear more jewelry.
Statues and brightly colored paintings would adorn their walls and set them apart from the lower class
and maintain their high class status. Different materials are used to make art such as coral,

When curious about the world and no one is giving them answers, there is potential for that person to

The Shawshank Redemption Essay
The Shawshank Redemption is a prison movie that is based on a book by Stephen King and directed
by Frank Darabont. The movie is not the average bloody horror movie; instead, it takes you to a place
where your worst nightmares come alive. The tremendous performance by Morgan Freeman and other

The setting is dark and foreboding and creates the atmosphere of the last place one would ever want to
spend their life. The convicts have to tolerate other prisoners and guards who are brutal and ruthless (
Morgan Freeman Stars 58). The Shawshank prison is a hell full of sinners (Alleva 16).
To the prisoners, prison is like a whole different world. After learning to deal with imprisonment, the
prisoners then have a hard time dealing with the outside world. Another horror about prison life is the
psychological disorder of being behind bars for so long prevents prisoners from being able to survive
in the real world ( Morgan Freeman Stars 58). One of the characters, played by James Whitmore,
commits suicide because it is difficult for him to adjust to the outside world. Red, another prisoner,
does the same thing when he is on parole (Alleva 16). Red states that in [prison] he s an important
man where outside he is nothing but a con [who] probably couldn t get a library card if he tried (qtd in
Armstrong 81). Before Red and James hang themselves, they do something with the knife in their
hands. To keep the suspense alive, Darabont does not reveal their actions until after the suicides take
place. The shot of the scene endorses one of Andy s ideologies: get busy living or get busy dying (qtd
in Avella 18). The use of camera, angle shots, and knowing when to use them appropriately are the
aspects that keep the viewers on their tiptoes. That is

Differences Of The Protestant Church And The Roman...
During the Reformation, Martin Luther found problems within the Roman Catholic Church and
decided that he no longer desired to follow their ways. As a follower of Christ, he instead turned to the
Bible to rediscover truths that the Church had twisted. Now, because of Luther s then radical ideology,
we have two different bodies of Christ: the Protestant Church and the Roman Catholic Church. Today,
there are many differences between them concerning fundamental beliefs and how the church should
operate.
One difference between Protestants and Catholics is where they get their teachings from. Protestants
focus only on the Bible. They believe that it is the only source of information about who God is and
what He has done. They only use the Bible for the foundations of their faith and for how to live out
your faith in your daily life. From the Hebrew Bible of twenty four books, Protestants made thirty nine
books with the exact same information. The Catholic Bible includes several more books that are
derived from another Hebrew canon called the Septuagint. During the Reformation, the Protestants
decided that these books shouldn t be in the Christian Bible because they aren t in the Hebrew Bible,
but the Catholic Church disagreed. Secondly, Protestants differ from Catholics because Christianity
splits into many denominations, whereas Catholics have no denominations. They are all one Church,
under the Pope, sharing the same beliefs in every Catholic church. Even though Protestants

Analytical Essay THE AWAKENING Throughout Kate Chopin s, The Awakening, numerous scenes
of birth and renewal are depicted. Various symbols placed throughout the book show Edna Pontellier s
awakenings. For instance, many references are made to oceans and water. It is in the water that Edna
has her first rebirth, but it is also the place where she chooses to die. Water symbolizes life, which is
the reason that Edna s renewal takes place there, but it also symbolizes darkness and death. Birds,
which are featured frequently in the story, symbolize Edna, and in many cases they foreshadow what s
to become of her, or they show her renewal of life. The imagery of birds throughout the book is used
to symbolize freedom, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Birds are also major symbolic images in the story. Flight, which is associated with birds, acts as a
stand in for awakening. The ability to spread your wings and fly is a symbolic theme that occurs often
in the novel. Mademoiselle Reisz tells Edna quot;the bird that would soar above the level plain of
tradition and prejudice must have strong wings (138). She uses birds to forecast Edna s future and
evaluate Edna s strength. In order to soar like a bird, Edna must be strong, but Mademoiselle Reisz
realizes that Edna is weak. Reisz says, quot;it is a sad spectacle to see the weaklings bruised,
exhausted, fluttering back to earth quot; (138). Mademoiselle Reisz understands that Edna is not like
herself and cannot fight society. Later, when Edna realizes the hopelessness of her situation, birds,
once again, symbolically foreshadow her fate. Upon reaching the beach on her final walk, Edna looks
around and sees: quot;A bird with a broken wing was beating the air above, reeling, fluttering, circling
disabled down, down to the water quot; (189). This bird is the final omen that reflects Mademoiselle
Reisz s words: quot;it is sad to see the weaklings bruised, exhausted, fluttering back to earth quot;
(138). The bird, disabled and weakened because of its broken wing, falls back to earth and suffers
defeat. Edna soon does the same when she kills herself because she does not have quot;the

Teaching Principles Of The Game Teaching Essay
3. Teaching principles in the use of the game teaching
If teachers want to play a better role of game teaching, they must focus more on the following points.
First, game contents and methods require national design. Based on game teaching, teachers will
reasonably and flexibly arrange teaching activities, avoiding excessive interference on students.
Through a series of activities, students attentions are kept so that the whole learning goes toward the
direction of teaching principles.
Second, game teaching is more difficult to organize in the classroom because of students lacking
autonomy, and the classroom will become confusing. All of these should be taken into full
consideration while designing class activities. Usually there are five principles that should be
noticed(Chen Shuting,2008).
3.1 Objective principle
English classroom games should have a clear purpose. While designing a game, teachers must be very
clear about the purpose of the game is to let students master something. The objective of the game is
not only to activate atmosphere to make students feel at ease, but also allow them to obtain
knowledge, making the game serve the purpose of language training, pronunciation correcting,
grammar consolidating. The design should be combined with teaching purpose of the game, and the
game s designing and carrying out have to stick to the teaching content. Thus, the design of the game
must run through the theme, lest students only remember the game but not knowing what

Drude Dahlerup As A Critical Mass Theory
Critical mass theory
Drude Dahlerup first conceptualised critical mass in a feminist theory context in her 1988 article,
From a Small to a Large Minority: Women in Scandinavian Politics. A critical mass, applied to women
in politics, is a threshold that allows for women s issues to influence legislative and public policy
changes once passed (Beckwith, 2007). In critical mass theory, once a minority group (in this case
women) reaches a given quantity of descriptive representation, qualitative change occurs affecting
norms, values and institutions. Kanter (1977) developed a four category typology to assess group
dynamics in organisational culture, which Dahlerup builds on: uniform, all one gender group; skewed,
with an 85:15 split; tilted, a 65:35 split; and balanced, a 60:40 or 50:50 split. According to Beckwith,
skewed is the most common ratio in business leadership and legislatures. Dahlerup posited 30 percent
as the critical mass in which substantive representation occurs, supported by academic consensus and
a 1992 United Nations report (Kurebwa, 2017).
These assertions about critical mass tend to align with New Zealand s substantive representation
discussed earlier in this essay. Since the introduction of MMP in 1996, women have held above 30
percent of parliamentary seats (excluding 2002, with 28 percent) (NZ Parliament, 2014). In this time,
significant reform for women s issues occurred, including the previously mentioned paid parental

Some of the world s cutest and most adored creatures, penguins, recently began to rapidly decrease
due to the careless actions of humans. When many people think of penguins they think of the cute,
small black and white bird, found at the zoo or in Antarctica. However, these beautiful creatures come
in all different sizes and shapes and there s an estimated 17 species of penguins which all vary in

Even if it seems like something small, the population drop of krill created a much bigger effect. The
dropping of the krill population led to a food shortage for the penguins, leading to a population drop of
their own. Another problem, the ice melting due to climate change. Climate change, a leading effect,
caused by the greenhouse effect which refers to warming that happens when heat gets trapped by the
atmosphere that radiates from Earth towards space. Some gases block heat and it s ability to escape
causing the planet to overall heat up . According to ucar.edu too little ice and the colony gets more
exposed and vulnerable to predation, (Leifert). This leads to the penguins having less space to stay
concealed from predators such as animals like skuas, kelp gulls, and giant petrels. These predators
come after the chicks especially as they cannot defend themselves. This lack of ice leading to less
protection making the innocent penguins more vulnerable to predators. Another cause, the excessive
fishing and the careless efforts to enforce safety while doing so. Fishing efforts over the past couple of
years significantly increased. The penguin s prey such as anchovy and sardine stocks get caught
decreasing the penguin s food supply. According to Science Daily, As fishing efforts around the globe
have multiplied several fold over the last few decades, penguins are now competing with people for

Caffeine Intermolecular Forces Lab Report
The partial charges throughout caffeine molecules create dipoles, which in turn affect the
intermolecular forces between caffeine molecules. Caffeine s polarity permits the formation of dipole
dipole interactions between two caffeine molecules. The partial positive end of one caffeine molecule
will be attracted to the partial negative end of another caffeine molecule, creating a relatively strong
intermolecular force. The strength of this force will increase sublimation and melting points and
decrease volatility because more energy will be required to overcome the dipole dipole forces.
Because solutes dissolve in solvents with similar intermolecular forces, caffeine s polarity allows the
molecule to be soluble in polar solvents. The dipole dipole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Various countries consumed caffeine containing plants as a source of energy in the past, while still
being unaware that the compound within the plants was causing the stimulating effects. In 1819,
Friedlieb Runge discovered and isolated caffeine, which gave rise to the production of new caffeine
containing products. Most individuals today consume caffeine in the form of coffee because of its
ability to decrease fatigue and drowsiness. Although caffeine is soluble in water at room temperature,
the molecules will not completely dissolve; therefore, coffee is made with hot water to dissolve a
greater quantity of the caffeine molecules. Caffeine produces its stimulating effect by interfering with
adenosine, a chemical in the nervous system that releases signals to notify the body when sleep is
needed. Adenosine is a by product of brain function and it will accumulate in the body throughout the
day. Eventually adenosine levels will reach a maximum, causing adenosine to start binding to receptor
sites to notify the brain to slow down cellular activity. Caffeine and adenosine are both alkaloids
(organic compounds composed of many nitrogen atoms) with similar shapes, ring structures and
covalent bonds, which allows caffeine to bind to adenosine receptors. Caffeine will occupy all
adenosine receptor sites, causing the brain to maintain cellular activity and not induce

According to the Department of Commerce s Office of the Antiboycotting Compliance (OAC), the
legislation was enacted to encourage, and in specified cases, requires U.S. firms to refuse to
participate in foreign boycotts that the United States does not sanction (Security).
The US s reaction to the Arab League boycott of Israel lays the foundation for the reaction of states
and federal to the BDS Movement. A number of the reactions by different states including Illinois and
South Carolina were discussed above. The federal regulations in an attempt to stamp the US anti Arab
League boycott of Israel included, the Export Administration Act of 1979 (EAA) and the Ribicoff
Amendment to the Tax Reform Act of 1976 (TRA). Under section 8 of the EAA, all US persons and
company were prohibited from complying with an unsanctioned foreign boycott and require anyone
who is requested to do so, to report such request to the OAC in the Bureau of Industry and Security
(BIS). The EAA recommends penalties for violators.
As is seen, the US has long opposed boycotts of Israeli entities. Some Members of Congress have
argued the US needs to continue this trend and enact legislation which will protect the integrity of
trade as well as protect the state of Israel. In fact, it could be argued that protecting trade freedom of
Israel is the only way to protect the state as a trade isolation would leave it vulnerable and susceptible
to different forms of deterioration.

Analyzing The Painting Baptism Of Pocahontas
The painting, Baptism of Pocahontas was commissioned in 1837. John Gadsby Chapman installed the
painting in November of 1840. This painting was created during a time when the United States was
forcefully expanding westward and had implemented a policy to remove the Indian tribes off their
lands. One example of incorporating religious content and context includes Chapman s focus on the
religious ceremony of baptism. This inclusion illustrates the belief among white Americans of this
period that Native Americans could be integrated into the white civilization. Pocahontas choosing to

Over Concentration Of Services Essay
This study identifies four strands of thought that outline the factors which can lead to the over
concentration of services; traditional trade theory, new trade theory, new economic geography theory
and the interplay between globalisation and competition. It is from this four factors in which the
negative effects of the over concentration of services are created. These negative effects will be
discussed and analysed in a bid to understand what can done to reduce them. Polycentricity and
territorial cohesion policy, and the measures associated with their implications, are identified as the
tools for reducing the negative effects of over concentration. The study also questions the extent of
success of these tools. Europe is viewed as the best platform to comprehend the relevant concepts and
thus will provide the context in which to carry out the study.
Traditional trade theory explains the over concentration of services through variations in labour skills
and other contributions to production (Heckscher 1919; Ohlin 1933), or in productivity (Ricardo
1917). These differences establish comparative advantages (Ricardo 1917) between cities, regions and
countries. Thus, trade allows the concentration of services to grow and shrink in reaction to these
advantages.
In reality, cities, regions and countries may have different production arrangements but similar
production technologies (Krugman 1991a). Post Fordist countries predominantly trade goods of a
similar product type, i.e.

Consequences Of Manifest Destiny
Frederick Douglass once said, ...your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness,
swelling vanity;....your denunciation of tyrants brass fronted impudence; your shout of liberty and
equality, hollow mockery.... are to him, mere, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy a thin veil to
cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages, about Americans and their Fourth of July
celebrations, in his speech exposing the exploitation and hypocrisy in America. From the time the
United States were colonized to the present, America has been so focused on advancing in its own
interest that it has not recognized all the damage that it is causing. America s story is one of
exploitation, because of their reputation selfishness, deceit, and disregard of others.
Manifest Destiny was the 19th century doctrine or belief that the expansion of the US throughout the
American continents was both justified and inevitable. It was common belief, however, that Native
Americans stood in the way of progress, so the United States Government pushed natives out of their
land in order to expand. In the Johnny Cash song As Long As Grass Shall Grow, Cash sings, he told
the tribe these men they could trust... treaty signed... promised peace with USA and peace...forever,
this means that the United States started their relationship with this tribe as a beneficial and peaceful
one, but eventually went on to betray this trust by building a dam, this dam...flood Indian
country...treaty broken, the Native American land was destroyed by a dam that in some way benefited
the US. In this song, Johnny Cash is explaining how the U.S. exploited the Natives by gaining their
trust only to break it and destroy their land. While the United States gained something from this event,
they lost their peace with the Native American tribe they exploited and misled. Similarly, The
Cherokee Removal Through the Eyes of a Private Soldier by John G. Burnette is a firsthand account
of the events and tragedies that happened during the Cherokee Removal Act, or Trail of Tears.
Thousands of Cherokee Indians were forced to leave their homes to a reservation west of the
Mississippi River in Oklahoma. This process killed many natives.

The Perfect Setting For A Ghost Story
A warm, foggy December morning along the Florida coast is the perfect setting for a ghost story. I
never intended to have these particular feelings, and emotions don t come easily for me, but add this
gloomy weather to the after holiday hangover, the dread of a looming workday, the perfect song on the
radio, and the haunts start to flow like tears. Or maybe they were tears. This is unfamiliar territory for
a girl like me, but one thing I know for sure is the ghosts were real. They were right there beside me,
in my head, through my windshield, and tagging along behind. They are always there.
Ghosts can come in a lot of forms. There are the loved ones lost, there are the spooky haunts and ghost
stories, but the worst kind of ghost is the memory of pur own actions. A ghost we create freely and
then have to live with indefinitely. We all have regrets, but a ghost takes regret to another level. A
ghost is a recurring emotion, a feeling imprinted upon us and others that cannot be forgotten nor
rectified. In time all things can be forgiven; the majority of my ghosts have been forgiven, but they
still reside inside of me. Forgiveness does not allay the haunt. I know what I said. I know what I did. I
know where I ve been. I know the power I have over others, and I know I haven t always wielded it
responsibly. I know how to inflict pain. When something hurts me, I know how to hurt it 10 fold in

Definition Of Heterosexuality
Heterosexuality is a social construct. Historically, what heterosexuality is has been a synonym for
normal. After all, according to author Hanne Blank, normal is not a mode of eternal truth, it is a way
to describe commons and conformity with expectations. (Straight, P.11) A handful of people today, see
heterosexuality as something normal, and anything other than heterosexual is abnormal and needs
justification. This justification holds individuals back from coming out and being themselves in
public. Why place this barrier on them? Why is there a universal expectation for non heterosexuals to
come out the closet? Why only, specifically, them?
In order to understand the coming out process, one must know the mental and physical struggles that
follow. Because not everyone approves of this so called abnormal behavior , many closeted
individuals experience mental or physical abuse from their direct families or environment. For
instance, a handful of young LGBTQ youth end up being homeless due to abuse or rejection from
their direct families. This is an unfair burden that has weighed upon the LGBTQ community as a
whole. In addition, even though some individuals receive support, most non heterosexuals do not have
the luxury of acceptance in an open minded environment. All these struggles can lead to serious
mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. It is

the perfect version of a human in his eyes. An example of this is on page 58 59 The Book the island of
doctor Moreau. Mearu explains his desire to create the perfect humanoid. ¨I make them, they seem to
be indisputable human beings. ItÅ› afterwards as I observe them that the persuasion fades. First one

An example of this is on page 51 When Montgomery and Moreau wear at a distance I judged
sufficient, I waded ashore, and picked up and examined the revolvers. To satisfy myself against the
sublest trickery I discharged one at a rounded lump of lava, and had the satisfaction of seeing the stone
pulverised and the beach splashed with lead. Still I hesitated for a moment. I ll take the risk, said I, at
last, and with a revolver in each hand I walked up up the beach towards them. That s better, said
Moreau without affectation. As it is, you have wasted the best part of my day with your confounded
panic. And with a touch of contempt that humiliated me he and Montgomery turned and went on in
silence before me. This show Prendrick is a monster because he failed to stop the monster s he had
two revolver s in his hand. He Could have killed or captured Montgomery and Moreau putting an end
to these mad experiments. But instead he decided to do nothing and go with

Babylonian Omens
The Babylonian Astrologers Report is telling us that however the moon, stars or the planets looks up
in the sky will show the people of the empire and the ruler of the empire what exactly will happen to
the empire good or bad and gave the emperor s a since of direction on how to rule the empire. The
report tells us how the moon is shaped and if its looks a certain way then this certain event or bad
omen will happen. Omens happen when certain events in the sky or land take place such as, When a
halo surrounds the Moon and Jupiter stands within it, the King of Akkad will be besieged. Things in
outer space like that is what makes the difference in how the kingdom of kings treated the people.
Back during that time people believed in many Gods dealing with the sun, water, stars, and ... Show

Omens came from all sorts of different places such as from earthquakes, eclipses, thunder, storms,
stars, and the sun. Nature and the indigenous surrounding told many great stories and acted in a way
as being different Gods, to tell them what needed to happen, what was going to happen, or even what
they needed to change. When dealing with omens there was two different types such as provoked, and
unprovoked both having separate meanings. Ulla Susanne Koch says, Provoked omens are actively
sought by ritual, e.g. extispicy and lecanomancy; unprovoked divination is the interpretation of
occurrences that, so to say, appear without being asked for, e.g. astrology. So what this is saying is that
the provoked is brought upon them by rituals meaning the people do certain things to make it rain or
do certain things to makes these Gods let their plants grow. Unprovoked means whatever happens just
happens from the stars, sun, planets, etc. The Babylonians and Romans were one of the first to ever
use the outside world to figure out what was happening or the meanings behind what had happened to
them or the

Similarities Between Billy The Kid And Jesse James
Billy the Kid and Jesse James are famous for being robbers, murders and just a plain nuisance. Jesse
James and Billy the Kid had only met once or twice in their life, but how much were they alike?
In the early years of Jesse s life, he was brought up by a very strong willed and independent woman
named Zerelda Elizabeth Cole James. Zerelda married Robert James on December 28, 1841. Zerelda
and James built a cabin in the Centerville area of Clay County, Missouri. Zee who stood 6 foot tall,
worked hard to build a homestead. On September 5, 1847, Jesse James was born.
Just like Jesse, Billy the kid was born into a great family also, but, he left no trace of his early
childhood. Kid was thought to have been born in between 1860 61. In 1870, the

Analysis Of Before I Fall
Before I Fall directed by Ry Russo Young and written by Maria Maggenti is a teen drama film
released in 2017 that is about a teenage girl who lives the same day over and over again. Despite
having a compelling lead performance played by Zoe Deutch and a powerful soundtrack full of
ballads, Before I Fall still took a turn with a generic plot line, choppy dialogue and cliché. Although I
loved the performance given by Deutch and how she was able to show the characters development
through emotions and her acting, that still doesn t mean the movie was perfect.
The movie was like Mean Girls put through a time loop. Before I Fall deals with a teenage girl forced
to live the same day over and over again till she figures out why she s living ... Show more content on

Sam s whole story is that she s a mean girl who realizes that maybe she shouldn t be mean to people.
(by the way it took her too long to figure out that maybe Juliet was the reason she was living the same
day over and over again). The mind irking thing is that she never once told her friends that they should
stop bullying Juliet or try to befriend her. Instead, she presents this half played, pitiful redemption that
leaves the audience thinking that it was an act of heroism (I begged a differ).
There are moments in Before I Fall where the dialogue lacked intelligence. It was almost as if the
director wanted to be quick and get to the point of creating a movie that deals with time loop, and not
think twice about whether the dialogue should make sense. There s a scene in the movie where Sam is
thinking back on the last 24 hours of her life before the car accident where her and the other three girls
are bullying Juliet, and then she says this line That was forever ago... that was yesterday. There were
reasons that the audience watching this film to think okay that doesn t make sense. Saying something
forever ago and that it happened yesterday just contradicts itself, the line I think should have been

Benjamin Tallmadge Accomplishments
Benjamin Tallmadge was born in Setauket, Long Island on the twenty fifth of February in the year
seventeen fifty four. He attended Yale College in seventeen sixty nine and graduated in seventeen
seventy three, determined to study law (White). While in Yale, Tallmadge became close friends with
Nathan Hale, who would also be involved in American espionage (White). After graduation, he
superintended a school in Weathersfield, Connecticut.
His dreams to study law were shattered when American blood was first shed at Lexington, so he made
an effort to devote to the cause and enlisted in the Continental Army (Tallmadge 6). His old friend,
Captain Chester of Weathersfield, offered him the position of Lieutenant in one of Connecticut s six
month ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was a war hero and spymaster. He was so modest that his memoir did not even state any detail on
his intelligence accomplishments. He was the intelligence chief, and created America s first spy ring,
and that spy ring helped save the revolution. He monitored his spy ring, while also commanding
soldiers and winning military victories. That was what piqued my interest in Ben: he was a spymaster.
I have a huge interest in spies, but, once I looked into the biography of Benjamin Tallmadge, I realized
that spies in modern, American fiction are much more different than 18th century spying. For one,
they say that they gather intelligence, a term that I have not thought about to be associated when I first
think of a modern day spy. Spy crafts developed by Nathaniel Sackett were also very creative, such as
the Trojan egg ( Turn: Washington s Spies ). Benjamin Tallmadge, Abraham Woodhull, Caleb
Brewster, Robert Townsend, Austin Roe, Jonas Hawkins, and Agent 355 managed the Culper Spy
Ring, and I ve learned how they worked in the 18th century, where spies were hanged for treason and
such. I ve come to the knowledge that the current Central Intelligence Agency may be quite different
than the first spy ring. It can be said that George Washington s Spy Ring set the foundations for spy
techniques that are being used today in the CIA and FBI (DeFord). I ve learned that the books in
fiction portraying spies as undercover agents, trained when they were toddlers, being trained to catch
criminals such as drug dealers or thieves, were very different. I ve never thought of spies having to be
discreet on gathering certain intelligence; but then, I ve never thought about what it was like to spy for
a military. I have a big fascination with spies, but Major Benjamin Tallmadge amplified and increased
that fascination even further. I have learned a lot about the first spies of America, who helped save the

  • 2. The Beliefs Between Christians And Mormons The beliefs between Christians and Mormons are very different. Some would say that they are different because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is a cult. There has been great debate about whether or not the LDS church is a cult or part of the Christian religion. People believe that Mormonism is a cult, mostly because of the very different theology between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and biblical teachings. Mormonism holds authority to The Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price, and parts of the Bible that do not contradict Mormon doctrine (Cultwatch.com). So, whether is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is by definition a cult or not, there is some major differences between Mormon theology and biblical teaching. One of the biggest and very different beliefs of Christian and Mormon is faith is God and human beings becoming gods. This paper will explore the Mormon belief of exaltation and God. History of Joseph Smith and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints: Joseph Smith Jr., born to Joseph and Lacy Mack Smith, started The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints or LDS Church. Joseph Smith was born on December 23 of 1805. When Joseph Smith was a young teenager, he was wondering what church he should join. He came across James 1:5, if any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you . One day, Joseph Smith went ... • 4. Volunteering Research Paper SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY Throughout my life, I have always wanted to help people in any way that I can. That is why since i was young, i have done anything I can to help those in need. My earliest memories of volunteering is when i was 7 years old, I went with my dad and other people from my church to give the sacrament to people in a old folks home, sometimes having to help feed it to them because they were unable. since then, i have tried to keep that spirit of volunteerism going. Another example of how I helped volunteer was after the oil spill in the gulf of mexico. When i was ten my boy scout troop went down to Galveston beach and spent the day cleaning plastic and other waste off the many beaches there. Two years later when I was twelve, I went again with my boy scout troop and we spent a few weekends in a row doing various ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of this, I gathered my old toys from when I was young and donated them to the kids on Ebeye, seeing as they needed them more than I did. As well I have helped set up the last two basket auctions with my mom, and have volunteered at the Bargain Bazaar as well. When I temporarily moved back to the United States and attended Edmonds Community College, I wanted to keep volunteering in anyway I could. • 5. Evolution Of Science Classes At School Being raised in a Christian family, I have attended Catholic school my whole life. That being said, I have grown up studying Bible stories since before I can remember. Probably the most prominent and well known of these stories in Christian theology is, of course, the story of creation. To this day, I still remember how the story goes. On the first day, God created the earth and daylight. For six days after, he continued creation and included the sky, the ocean, plants, animals, and humans. Growing up, I always believed in a literal interpretation of this story, and thought everything was created within an exact week. However, as I got older, I learned about evolution in science classes at school. I soon discovered that many of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While a large number of people in the scientific field strongly believe in evolution, a group of people known as creationists and creation scientists seem to disagree. Creationism is the belief that the biblical record of primeval history in Genesis 1 11 is factual, historical, and clearly understandable and, therefore, that all things were created and made in six literal days (Morris). Creationists believe evolution completely contradicts with their religious beliefs; therefore, they do not agree with it. Creation science is a branch of creationism that focuses on providing scientific reasoning behind creationism. Creation scientist Jack Wellman describes evolution saying it presents a world view without God and that there is only survival of the fittest and that there is no real purpose for mankind. In between evolutionists and creationists falls theistic evolutionists, who believe in both creation by God and evolution. Since these people interpret the Bible in a metaphoric sense rather than literal, they believe that religious teachings about creation do not conflict with evolutionary concepts. For the most part, evolutionists and theistic evolutionists, aka people who believe in evolution, all seem to agree that evolution should be taught in US public schools. Interestingly enough, I have not yet found someone who is pro evolution and does not think it should be discussed in the classroom. However, there are creation scientists who think ... The Bolshevik Regime s Ability to Defeat Its Opponents by 1922 By the end of 1919, with only a few isolated groups of Anti Bolsheviks fighting, the Bolshevik regime was evidently winning the Russian Civil War. The reasons which lie behind their ability to defeat all their opponents by 1922 is mainly due to a well disciplined and equipped army, Lenin s strong, purposeful leadership and the advantage of the disunity of the Anti Bolshevik force. Fellow firefighters began suspecting that the arsonist was one of their own after conference of arson investigators. During the conference period, an oddly large amount of fire broke out. During that time fires broke out in fabric shops, drugstores, and craft shops. At a craft shop in Bakersfield, California a fire broke out in a display of dried flowers. At the scene, investigators found charred remnants of what appeared a simple incendiary device a filter tipped cigarette and matches, held together with a rubber band. One of the devices was partially wrapped in yellow paper (Bovsun, 2014). Though many of the investigator believe this was the work of an expert attending the arson conference, it could not be proven. The Hunger Game series: As you ve probably heard, read, and/or seen by now, there s a new blockbuster franchise on the block, and in the last ten days it s already made $362 million. It s headed easily north of $500 million and probably above $700 million, plus another nine figure haul on DVD and Blu ray, not to mention merchandising. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Meanwhile, you re wondering what the big deal is about the Step Up franchise, right? Well, the previous three films combined cost only around $60 million to make, and brought home $424 million at the box office, plus DVD and Blu ray sales and rentals that probably pushed the total to more than $500 million. Half a billion bucks off a $60 million investment isn t too shabby, and each film has made more money than the last one. With the fourth film releasing this July, and the take from previous installments now going to Lionsgate, it s a nice low budget property that s provided big returns and seems capable of churning out sequels indefinitely. The Expendables series The first film in Sylvester Stallone s series was a hit, and the sequel has upped the ante with the inclusion of widely popular action stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris. So expect this one to top the box office of the previous entry, somewhere north of $300 million at theaters before a nice additional run on the home theater market where profit margins are enormous. The films are popular because they are a throwback to the golden age of modern action films, and they answer the question, What if everybody who ever kicked butt got together to kick each other s butts all at once? The two previous studies exemplify that the quality of language input and early onset has significant effects on linguistic and sub linguistic mechanisms. It calls into question whether input quality is predictive of later sign language skills in deaf education program settings. In spoken languages, the quality and quantity of language input is predictive of a child s later linguistic abilities (Cartmill et al., 2013). However, most deaf children entering education have hearing parents, creating a barrier to language development. Many deaf programs support bilingual philosophies in which the basis of English is also taught in order to facilitate communication between the deaf and non deaf communities (Murphy Swiller, 2014). Leah Nicole Murphy Swiller (2014) investigates input quality within deaf education settings using American Sign Language (ASL). She hypothesizes that deaf participants learning language through slightly different modalities will differ in their ASL receptive skills and their comprehension of English grammar knowledge, even after educational instruction. This is done by comparing approximately one hundred and forty nine 4 and 5 year old deaf children at schools in 26 states across the United States of America. The deaf children are divided into three groups: those with ASL as their first language (L1), English as their L1, and those who spoke a sign supported English. These groups are compared to a control group of same aged hearing peers. All children ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The rich also owned paintings, statues and music to honor and praise their gods. Most of the lower class, however, could make art but only to sell to the rich. The Aztec empire had an appreciation and fascination with birds, bugs and animals. These animals were praised and admired and as a result, they were popular subjects in the Aztec art. Aztecs believed that their gods took the forms of animals. Paintings of them were always brightly colored. The Emperor received art as tribute. The Aztecs considered art as a tool to reinforce their dominance. Jewelry made from copper, jade, obsidian and gold was also reserved for the Emperor. He had such a variety of clothing and jewelry, it is said that he never wore the same thing twice. There were rules in the Aztec society that told which rank of people could wear which type of clothing. For example, only nobles and the Emperor could wear clothing decorated with feathers, beads and other pretty things. Farmers and other lower class people could not. If this law was broken, the consequence was death. The Emperor and noble families also had their bodies pierced so they could wear more jewelry. • 19. Differences Of The Protestant Church And The Roman... During the Reformation, Martin Luther found problems within the Roman Catholic Church and decided that he no longer desired to follow their ways. As a follower of Christ, he instead turned to the Bible to rediscover truths that the Church had twisted. Now, because of Luther s then radical ideology, we have two different bodies of Christ: the Protestant Church and the Roman Catholic Church. Today, there are many differences between them concerning fundamental beliefs and how the church should operate. One difference between Protestants and Catholics is where they get their teachings from. Protestants focus only on the Bible. They believe that it is the only source of information about who God is and what He has done. They only use the Bible for the foundations of their faith and for how to live out your faith in your daily life. From the Hebrew Bible of twenty four books, Protestants made thirty nine books with the exact same information. The Catholic Bible includes several more books that are derived from another Hebrew canon called the Septuagint. She uses birds to forecast Edna s future and evaluate Edna s strength. In order to soar like a bird, Edna must be strong, but Mademoiselle Reisz realizes that Edna is weak. • 22. Teaching Principles Of The Game Teaching Essay 3. Teaching principles in the use of the game teaching If teachers want to play a better role of game teaching, they must focus more on the following points. First, game contents and methods require national design. Based on game teaching, teachers will reasonably and flexibly arrange teaching activities, avoiding excessive interference on students. Through a series of activities, students attentions are kept so that the whole learning goes toward the direction of teaching principles. Second, game teaching is more difficult to organize in the classroom because of students lacking autonomy, and the classroom will become confusing. All of these should be taken into full consideration while designing class activities. Usually there are five principles that should be noticed(Chen Shuting,2008). 3.1 Objective principle English classroom games should have a clear purpose. While designing a game, teachers must be very clear about the purpose of the game is to let students master something. The objective of the game is not only to activate atmosphere to make students feel at ease, but also allow them to obtain knowledge, making the game serve the purpose of language training, pronunciation correcting, grammar consolidating. The design should be combined with teaching purpose of the game, and the game s designing and carrying out have to stick to the teaching content. • 23. Drude Dahlerup As A Critical Mass Theory Critical mass theory Drude Dahlerup first conceptualised critical mass in a feminist theory context in her 1988 article, From a Small to a Large Minority: Women in Scandinavian Politics. A critical mass, applied to women in politics, is a threshold that allows for women s issues to influence legislative and public policy changes once passed (Beckwith, 2007). In critical mass theory, once a minority group (in this case women) reaches a given quantity of descriptive representation, qualitative change occurs affecting norms, values and institutions. Kanter (1977) developed a four category typology to assess group dynamics in organisational culture, which Dahlerup builds on: uniform, all one gender group; skewed, with an 85:15 split; tilted, a 65:35 split; and balanced, a 60:40 or 50:50 split. According to Beckwith, skewed is the most common ratio in business leadership and legislatures. Dahlerup posited 30 percent as the critical mass in which substantive representation occurs, supported by academic consensus and a 1992 United Nations report (Kurebwa, 2017). These assertions about critical mass tend to align with New Zealand s substantive representation discussed earlier in this essay. Since the introduction of MMP in 1996, women have held above 30 percent of parliamentary seats (excluding 2002, with 28 percent) (NZ Parliament, 2014). Caffeine s polarity permits the formation of dipole dipole interactions between two caffeine molecules. The strength of this force will increase sublimation and melting points and decrease volatility because more energy will be required to overcome the dipole dipole forces. In 1819, Friedlieb Runge discovered and isolated caffeine, which gave rise to the production of new caffeine containing products. Most individuals today consume caffeine in the form of coffee because of its ability to decrease fatigue and drowsiness. Although caffeine is soluble in water at room temperature, the molecules will not completely dissolve; therefore, coffee is made with hot water to dissolve a greater quantity of the caffeine molecules. Caffeine produces its stimulating effect by interfering with adenosine, a chemical in the nervous system that releases signals to notify the body when sleep is needed. Adenosine is a by product of brain function and it will accumulate in the body throughout the day. Over Concentration Of Services Essay This study identifies four strands of thought that outline the factors which can lead to the over concentration of services; traditional trade theory, new trade theory, new economic geography theory and the interplay between globalisation and competition. It is from this four factors in which the negative effects of the over concentration of services are created. These negative effects will be discussed and analysed in a bid to understand what can done to reduce them. Polycentricity and territorial cohesion policy, and the measures associated with their implications, are identified as the tools for reducing the negative effects of over concentration. The study also questions the extent of success of these tools. Europe is viewed as the best platform to comprehend the relevant concepts and thus will provide the context in which to carry out the study. Traditional trade theory explains the over concentration of services through variations in labour skills and other contributions to production (Heckscher 1919; Ohlin 1933), or in productivity (Ricardo 1917). These differences establish comparative advantages (Ricardo 1917) between cities, regions and countries. Thus, trade allows the concentration of services to grow and shrink in reaction to these advantages. (Straight, P.11) A handful of people today, see heterosexuality as something normal, and anything other than heterosexual is abnormal and needs justification. This justification holds individuals back from coming out and being themselves in public. Why place this barrier on them? Why is there a universal expectation for non heterosexuals to come out the closet? Why only, specifically, them? In order to understand the coming out process, one must know the mental and physical struggles that follow. Because not everyone approves of this so called abnormal behavior , many closeted individuals experience mental or physical abuse from their direct families or environment. For instance, a handful of young LGBTQ youth end up being homeless due to abuse or rejection from their direct families. This is an unfair burden that has weighed upon the LGBTQ community as a whole. In addition, even though some individuals receive support, most non heterosexuals do not have the luxury of acceptance in an open minded environment. All these struggles can lead to serious mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. It is Retana 1 unfortunate that most non heterosexuals have to deal with prolong mental illnesses that stem from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book the island of Doctor Moreau makes us think who are the humans and who are the real monsters. I think the true monsters of the island are Dr. Moreau, Montgomery, and Pendrick. What makes Moreau a monster is his want to be a God to all of his creations on the island, to create the perfect version of a human in his eyes. An example of this is on page 58 59 The Book the island of doctor Moreau. Mearu explains his desire to create the perfect humanoid. ¨I make them, they seem to be indisputable human beings. Still I hesitated for a moment. I ll take the risk, said I, at last, and with a revolver in each hand I walked up up the beach towards them. That s better, said Moreau without affectation. As it is, you have wasted the best part of my day with your confounded panic. And with a touch of contempt that humiliated me he and Montgomery turned and went on in silence before me. Omens came from all sorts of different places such as from earthquakes, eclipses, thunder, storms, stars, and the sun. Nature and the indigenous surrounding told many great stories and acted in a way as being different Gods, to tell them what needed to happen, what was going to happen, or even what they needed to change. When dealing with omens there was two different types such as provoked, and unprovoked both having separate meanings. Ulla Susanne Koch says, Provoked omens are actively sought by ritual, e.g. extispicy and lecanomancy; unprovoked divination is the interpretation of occurrences that, so to say, appear without being asked for, e.g. astrology. So what this is saying is that the provoked is brought upon them by rituals meaning the people do certain things to make it rain or do certain things to makes these Gods let their plants grow. Unprovoked means whatever happens just happens from the stars, sun, planets, etc. The Babylonians and Romans were one of the first to ever use the outside world to figure out what was happening or the meanings behind what had happened to them or the ... • 45. Analysis Of Before I Fall Before I Fall directed by Ry Russo Young and written by Maria Maggenti is a teen drama film released in 2017 that is about a teenage girl who lives the same day over and over again. Despite having a compelling lead performance played by Zoe Deutch and a powerful soundtrack full of ballads, Before I Fall still took a turn with a generic plot line, choppy dialogue and cliché. Although I loved the performance given by Deutch and how she was able to show the characters development through emotions and her acting, that still doesn t mean the movie was perfect. The movie was like Mean Girls put through a time loop. Before I Fall deals with a teenage girl forced to live the same day over and over again till she figures out why she s living ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sam s whole story is that she s a mean girl who realizes that maybe she shouldn t be mean to people. (by the way it took her too long to figure out that maybe Juliet was the reason she was living the same day over and over again). The mind irking thing is that she never once told her friends that they should stop bullying Juliet or try to befriend her. Instead, she presents this half played, pitiful redemption that leaves the audience thinking that it was an act of heroism (I begged a differ). There are moments in Before I Fall where the dialogue lacked intelligence. It was almost as if the director wanted to be quick and get to the point of creating a movie that deals with time loop, and not think twice about whether the dialogue should make sense. There s a scene in the movie where Sam is thinking back on the last 24 hours of her life before the car accident where her and the other three girls are bullying Juliet, and then she says this line That was forever ago... that was yesterday. There were reasons that the audience watching this film to think okay that doesn t make sense. Saying something forever ago and that it happened yesterday just contradicts itself, the line I think should have been That was yesterday. Then there s another scene where Sam and Lindsay are talking in the cafeteria about how Lindsay and Juliet use to be friends and went on a camping trip together. He attended Yale College in seventeen sixty nine and graduated in seventeen seventy three, determined to study law (White). While in Yale, Tallmadge became close friends with Nathan Hale, who would also be involved in American espionage (White). After graduation, he superintended a school in Weathersfield, Connecticut. His dreams to study law were shattered when American blood was first shed at Lexington, so he made an effort to devote to the cause and enlisted in the Continental Army (Tallmadge 6). He was a war hero and spymaster. He was so modest that his memoir did not even state any detail on his intelligence accomplishments. He was the intelligence chief, and created America s first spy ring, and that spy ring helped save the revolution. He monitored his spy ring, while also commanding soldiers and winning military victories. That was what piqued my interest in Ben: he was a spymaster. I have a huge interest in spies, but, once I looked into the biography of Benjamin Tallmadge, I realized that spies in modern, American fiction are much more different than 18th century spying. For one, they say that they gather intelligence, a term that I have not thought about to be associated when I first think of a modern day spy. Spy crafts developed by Nathaniel Sackett were also very creative, such as the Trojan egg ( Turn: Washington s Spies ). Benjamin Tallmadge, Abraham Woodhull, Caleb Brewster, Robert Townsend, Austin Roe, Jonas Hawkins, and Agent 355 managed the Culper Spy Ring, and I ve learned how they worked in the 18th century, where spies were hanged for treason and such. I ve come to the knowledge that the current Central Intelligence Agency may be quite different than the first spy ring. It can be said that George Washington s Spy Ring set the foundations for spy techniques that are being used today in the CIA and FBI (DeFord). I ve learned that the books in fiction portraying spies as undercover agents, trained when they were toddlers, being trained to catch criminals such as drug dealers or thieves, were very different. I ve never thought of spies having to be discreet on gathering certain intelligence; but then, I ve never thought about what it was like to spy for a military. I have a big fascination with spies, but Major Benjamin Tallmadge amplified and increased that fascination even further. I have learned a lot about the first spies of America, who helped save the ...
