Four Period School Day Controversy
After a schedule change, students and teachers have been having controversy about a four period and
eight period school day. After two years of the new schedule, although calmed down somewhat, the
controversy continues. An eight period school day (traditional schedule) seems to be far outweighed
by a four period school day (block schedule). A four period school day provides academic,
educational, and emotional benefits when compared to an eight period school day. A typical eight
period school day would have eight forty seven minute long classes with a thirty minute lunch and
five minutes between each class period, lasting the whole school year (7). A typical four period school
day would have four ninety two minute long classes with a thirty minute lunch and seven minutes
between each class period (7). The first four classes go from the middle of August to around the
middle of January, then the next four go from the middle of January to the end of May. At Preston
High School students and teachers were surveyed on stress levels from each schedule. They were also
surveyed on which schedule they thought was more effective for learning. A consensus between all of
the students and teachers agreed that the block schedule was more effective for learning (8). They also
all agreed that an eight period day proved significantly more stressful when compared to their amount
of stress in a four period day (8). A block schedule is very beneficial if it is properly implemented.

Ashanti Tribe Essay
The Ashanti tribe is located in central Ghana in the rainforest of West Africa. They are the major
ethnic group in this roughly 50 years old young nation. The Ashanti people are known as fierce
fighters whether they are women or man. The tribe have a slogan: If I go forward I die, If I go
backward I die, better go forward and die. (Baden Powell) When they are faced by a war, you can hear
drums from the villages to signal each others. The Ashanti religion combines both spiritual and
supernatural powers. They believe that every living thing have souls, including plants and animals.

Comparing to men, female puberty ceremony is not done in secrete like men s does, female puberty is
seen as a more important process than man s. The Ashanti tribe believes that women need to be
properly trained to be a good mother, to raise children with good morals. All the participants are
women, including queen mother and female leaders. Experienced women will then pass on
womanhood secrets and technics to the young women. Education in sex, birth control, and how to
maintain good marriage with man is taught in these couple weeks of time. Dancing and drumming
rituals are also carried out by the name of Onyame, to bless the young women to have a successful
fertility life. In Ashanti religion, women represent the purity, beauty, and dignity of the tribe, they are
the instrument of god to create life. Ashanti women inherits this status when they were born, and they
have to follow rules to achieve it. Older women learnt these rules for a long time, so they are here to
make sure that young women will not break them. Older women will especially make sure that young
women will not get pregnant before going through the puberty ceremony, because it is a traditional
religion rule. Onyame and Obosom will get angry or even punish the tribe if that happens. There are
also fines and punishment within the tribe to enforce it. The role of women is

Key Results Of Testing For Ppp Essay
5.1 Introduction
Following the methodology section, this chapter is going to present the main findings of the PPP test
and relevant information, graphs and tables will be shown as well. The purpose of this part is to
provide key results of testing for PPP in order to facilitate the following detailed discussions. It is no
doubt that this section can be viewed as the core of the whole project because it depends on a variety
of econometric tools to evaluate the financial data. The findings consist of two major aspects: the one
is on the examination of the strong version of PPP, namely APPP; the other is on the test of RPPP, also
known as the weak form of PPP.
5.2 Findings of Testing for APPP
As stated earlier, the APPP is based on the law of one price, stating that the real exchange rate is equal
to one. The formula is written by: (5)
For the convenience of our research, the equation above can be simplified to: (6) where Et represents
the nominal bilateral exchange rate, Pt* is the CPI in Japan, Pt means the Indian CPI.
Before analysing, what should do is to transmute the raw data into the natural logarithm form.
According to Jia and Rathi (2008), the major cause of transformation is that taking natural logarithms
not only indicates the elasticity of economic variables, but eliminates the issue of heteroscedasticity
efficiently. If an econometric model is heteroscedastic, the test of significance for

Bullying can be describes as an aggressive behavior from an individual that feels the need to
overpower, and control others, whether physically or mentally. The term bullying is thrown around a
bit excessively these days that we go to extremes when we hear the word, we either ignore it
completely or we go off the handle and want to stamp everyone as a bully. As a society we have
become desensitized to term while at the same time trying to stay politically correct, in other words
we tend to look the other way, but when approached by others about it we try to save face. At times we
even try to avoid explaining Darwins Theory of Evolution or in other words natural selection and label
it as bullying. At the end of the day we need to address ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children and even adults have this pressure to look a certain way; boys are judged on a daily basis to
be masculine or even athletic; girls are looked at as being pretty and popular. It is crazy how society
has tremendously changed in physical appearance and the idea on how men and women should
physical look. Now we must ask ourselves why and how this happens, and the consequences, and
what can be done to resolve this. Schools all around America are already busy places, and with the
increasing of more government and attention, funding, and mandated requiring time frame. A more
suitable solution would be to combine a partnership with schools to keep kids safe in their
surroundings. It is often a problematic solution for schools to accomplish their mission without
partnering up with stakeholders this includes parents, that state and national organizations. Such as the

Analysis Of Verses Upon The Burning Of Our House
Anne Bradstreet was and is a highly regarded Puritan poet of seventeenth century American literature.
She defied cultural expectations of women at the time and became the first accomplished woman poet
of the New World. As evident in her poetry, she was strictly loyal to God and her Puritan beliefs, but
she was not exempt from grief and doubt in the face of tragedy. Some, however, would argue that her
grief and doubt in response to those tragedies showed a stray from her strict Puritan belief system.
One controversial tragic event, in particular, that she wrote about exemplified her struggle between
earthly desires and heavenly truths: the blaze that overtook her family s home. Anne Bradstreet, in her
poem Verses upon the Burning of Our House, demonstrates the common internal conflict of Christians
as she battles between her Puritan theology and her innate human emotions in response to her
devastating house fire.
Anne was born in the early seventeenth century in England. She was privileged with an excellent
education because her father, Thomas Dudley, was a steward to a prominent figure. She married
Simon Bradstreet at just sixteen years of age while still residing in England. When Anne was still a
teenager, the Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Company made the decision to leave and settle
together in the New World, the Dudleys and Bradstreets journeyed with them. In contrast to the way
she was raised, the life of settlers proved to be difficult in the colony because of

Reaction Of The Maillard Reaction
Introduction
The non enzymatic reaction of reducing sugars with amino groups of amino acids, peptides and
proteins is called as non enzymatic glycosylation or simply glycation. This non enzymatic reaction
ultimately results in the formation of complex brown pigments and protein protein crosslinks that
were first studied under defined conditions by Maillard in the early 1900s (Maillard and Gautier,
1912) and the reaction came to known as the Maillard reaction. There is a condensation reaction
between reducing sugar and free amino acids at the amino terminus or susceptible ε amino group of
lysine residues of proteins producing labile N substituted glycosylamine (Schiff base) that may
undergo two sequential rearrangements, forming a stable Amadori product (Fayle Gerrard, 2002). The
reducing sugars namely, glucose, fructose, galactose, mannose, ribose and certain carbohydrate
relatives are inherently reactive toward nucleophilic groups. Glucose is the least reactive among
common sugars because it exists in least concentration in the open chain form (Paulsen and
Pflughaupt, 1980). Amadori rearrangement was a key early step in the Maillard reaction (Hodge,
1955). Early glycation directs the formation of Schiff s bases and Amadori products that further
oxidized to advanced glycated end products (AGEs) (Chetyrkin et al., 2008). Studies have shown that
the glycation process (in the early stage where the interaction of sugars, such as glucose, with free
amino groups of lysine and

Big Fish Is A Good Character Study
There are some fish that cannot be caught. It s not that they are faster or stronger than other fish, they
re just touched by something extra. This quote takes place in the movie Big Fish. It is about a father
and son who don t get along very well. William Bloom, who is the son to Edward bloom, gets very
upset with his father for always telling tall tales, or stories anywhere they go. In the beginning of the
film, the father starts off by telling the story about him catching the fish at his sons wedding reception.
William gets very angry with his father for telling this story once again, and the fact that it was at his
son s reception. This occurrence leads to William and Edward to stop speaking to each other. Big Fish
is a good character study because of the multiple hidden meanings and messages throughout the film.
When describing major s characters in a film, they mostly are defined centrally to the development
and resolution of the story s conflict. In this film, the two most important characters our Edward and
William. Edward bloom is the main character of the film for many reasons. Edward is mostly
considered as the hero of the film. According to New York times, A.O Scott states, The hero is Edward
Bloom, a traveling salesman, who, though he comes from a small town in Alabama, is played as a
young man by Ewan McGregor, who is Scottish, and in his later years by Albert Finney, who is
English (Scott). He is a man that explains his life through marvelous stories that

How To Play A Woodwind Instrument
When I was in fifth grade, I was caught between two worlds, playing a woodwind or string
instrument. If I played a woodwind instrument, I would have to blow in it to make music, but string
instruments consist of playing with a bow to make music. After much thought, I decided that the violin
was the best instrument due to its beautiful, unique sound, plus the possibilities are never ending. I
could receive a compliment from a teacher, or even be accepted to the symphony.
In elementary, I was known as the best player for my patience and understanding of every piece we
played in the orchestra. Your daughter is my best student in all four schools that I teach, exclaimed my
orchestra teacher, Ms. Nichols, to my mother. Ever since then, I have been practicing my violin every
minute of every day. At the end of my sixth grade year, I received a letter stating that I have been

therefore, my parents decided that I needed a private teacher. We found a college student striving for a
bachelor in the arts and she was the one improvement I needed. I went to see her every week and tried
my best to accomplish as much as possible but nothing would differentiate. We tried to do whatever
possible that would help. We played in sync and recorded ourselves to hear what we sounded like. A
lady who was in a car and just realized they passed their destination, hence having to do a U turn,
would define the exact sound that I made. Instead of laughing, she motivated me to change my routine
and express my feelings, but instead of expressing them emotionally, I shall express them on an
instrument. It was a glorious moment and afterwards, I sounded surprisingly

The Importance Of Dress Codes
Throughout the years the debate over school dress has been a hot topic, while dress codes are nothing
new, they have been a growing issue that past few decades. According to Laura Birkett on the Toronto
Star, For as long as there have been teenagers, there have been adults aghast at their habits... often
expressed by their wardrobe ( Students Protest Dress Codes IN7). Dress codes pose to have no actual
effect on students in today s world. Birkett also explained that with dress code or without it kids will
do what they want and will still, most likely, grow up to me respectable adults in the working class (
Students Protest Dress Codes IN7). Dress codes have been proven unnecessary and therefore, have no
positive benefits on students.
Dress codes are also sending the wrong message to students about body shaming. Donna George for
the Washington Post reveals that, at a School in Maryland a young girl was called out for her leggings
which were said to be a distraction by the young girls teacher. School administrators are shown
supporting the body shaming of students when the mother of the young girl, Eboni Banks filed a civil
right complaint confirming that, Administrators are being allowed to discriminate and engage in body
shaming behaviors (George). The fact that school district employees are being given the right to
determine if a girl s clothes are too distracting or not makes the girl being victimized feel as if she s
doing something wrong and should be ashamed of

Pain Enhancement Analysis
In this review, we extensively and specifically explore the current efforts for assessing infants pain
automatically. The main contribution of this paper can be summarized as follows:
begin{itemize} item We present a structured and extensive review of the current methods for
extracting pain relevant features from infants data (Section 2). We divided these methods into three
main categories, behavioral based, physiological based, and multimodal based. These categories were
divided further, based on the utilized pain indicator, into facial expression, body movement, crying
sound, vital signs, and cerebral hemodynamic. Each of these indicators is divided based on the
underlying algorithm as illustrated in Figure 1. item We categorize the current works by dividing
them, based on the classification tasks, into pain detection and pain intensity estimation. We define

Robert B Reich Why The Rich Are Getting Richer And The Poor
Strugglers vs. Wealthy (Robert B. Reich s Why the Rich are Getting Richer and the Poor, Poor)
Imagine you re walking down the street in the big city of New York. It isn t uncommon for you to see
numerous homeless, and needy people on the side of the street. They range from sitting out playing a
guitar to raise money, selling homemade crafts for money, or simply some just begging for your
kindness in lending them all that you are willing. How do some end up living day to day with what
they have, and another s having enough money to where they don t know what to do with it?
Countless families struggle, while others have no care in the world financially. Economic inequality
(always known as the gap between the rich and poor) consists of the distribution of wealth and the
income. (Reich) In the Jacobus text Robert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reich wrote, Why the Rich are Getting Richer and the Poor, Pooer. In this specific writing, Robert
explores why the rich are getting richer and the poor poorer, he examines the difference between the
rich and the poor, and if the process is going to change in the future or not. One main reason as the
why the richer are getting richer and the poor poorer is because of the machinery. Machinery is being
put in and wiping out lower class jobs for Americans. (Lichter) The rich are getting richer because
they come up with ideas that they sell to other countries and make money off of. Robert then describes
the differences. Noting on that one difference would be the level of education a successful, wealthy
person received compared to a poor, struggling individual. Then lastly, it tells about if their shall be a
change in the future or not. In the last decades the problem has been getting worse and will continue to
be an issue if we don t make it change. It s obvious that the rich people will refuse to help the poor,
even if they are more than capable of doing so, therefore, we need to find a way to solve the

The Chrysalids Character Analysis
We don t have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in the process of change. Small acts,
when multiplied by millions of people, can change the world
(Hord Zinn). David is a telepathic boy living in a post apocalyptic nuclear wasteland, called the
Tribulation in the book The Chrysalids. David manages to change the world and the vision of mutation
and deviants. David would have never able to do that without the people around that changed him.
This Essay will explore how Sophie, Uncle Axel and Gordon though minor characters have a major
impact on David s development.
Throughout the book Sophie had an exponential effect on David development even when not present.
Firstly, when David meets meets Sophie and learns about Sophie s supplementary toe, David accepts
Sophie for who she is. It was all twisted and puffy I didn t even notice then that it had more than the
usual amount of toes... (Wyndham 9). This is critical to David s development as it influenced him to
ignore the rules of the uneducated town of Waknuk. Secondly, when Sophie is a suspected deviant
David helps her run away to the fringes evading the law. I managed to find some candles and light
them, and when I had blown up the fire and put some more on, that helped to make the place seem less
lonely. (49). In this quote David is trying to make the house seem occupied so the people of Waknuk
do not get suspicious. This is imperative as for the first time in his life David rebelled against the rules

Comparing On The Pulse Of The Morning And The Gift Outright
The poems On the Pulse of the Morning, by Maya Angelou and The Gift Outright, by Robert Frost
share many similar aspects, such as being written for presidential inaugurations and explaining their
author s views of America s changing state. However, they differ in key aspects, such as the intended
audience and the formality of the writing. Angelou s poem speaks to a broad, diverse audience and
displays an informal fashion, while Frost directs his poem towards a predominantly white America
and writes in a formal tone. In his poem, Frost speaks directly to the American population as he sees it
a chiefly white society. He refers to the land as ours, referencing the struggles faced by colonists in the
Revolutionary War. Native Americans

Decalcification Of Teeth Lab Report
1. Introduction
1.1. General introduction and context
Studies show that the bacteria in your mouth uses the sugar in drinks as nutrients and releases acid as a
waste product. It is this acid, in conjunction with the acids already present in most drinks( Phosphoric
acid, citric acid and tartaric acid) that erodes the enamel on your teeth. Erosion and decay is caused by
the decalcification of teeth. The loss of enamel weakens teeth and leaves the more susceptible to
chipping and staining. Typically, kids and teenagers are at a higher risk of tooth decay because their
enamel is not fully developed (Anon, 2015) and they typically consume much more sugary drinks than
adults. However, other research has also indicated that it is the carbonate in ... Show more content on

1.3. Hypothesis
Powerade, sparkling water and fresh orange juice will have the worst effect on the wisdom teeth,
decaying and staining them, while coffee and coke zero will only stain but not decay them and water
and tea will have no effect on the wisdom teeth. The false teeth will not be affected by any of the
drinks.
1.4. Scope
All the wisdom teeth and false teeth that were to be used in the experiment were rinsed thoroughly to
prevent any interference during experimentation. In order to achieve results, they were weighed on an
extremely sensitive scale that is able to pick up very tiny changes in mass as decay was being
measured as a loss in mass. The extent of discolouration could not be measured scientifically and so
was measured using the colour scale to provide the most accurate results possible for this type of small
scale research. All human teeth were boiled beforehand to ensure that they were sterile and that there
was no formalin remaining on them. Each tooth and artificial tooth was left placed in it sown
container with the applicable liquid for the predetermined time frame and was weighed and coloured
at each time interval. Teeth were dealt with one at a time to prevent cross contamination. All handling
of teeth was done with gloves

Aladdin The Musical Reflection
The theater was largely attended by children and toddlers. To my surprise, I noticed that there were a
decent number of adults attending the show too. I was not sure if they were dragged into the show by
their own children or that they came to watch the performance willingly. Unfortunately, I was dragged
into the theater to watch Aladdin the Musical with my younger siblings during a family outing in
Disneyland. I tried my best to spot other adolescents in the theater. However, it felt like I was the only
one. Embarrassed, I sat in deeper into my seat, hoping that no adults could find and criticize me.
Aladdin the Musical uses the same plot from the movie, Aladdin as a foundation for their own plot.
The plot is about how a thief was destined to be the prince of Agrabah with the help of a powerful
genie and how an evil vizier named Jafar desired to take over the kingdom of Agrabah by abusing the
genie s powers. As the emcee made his announcements, I assumed that I would fall asleep on the
cushioned seat from all the boredom I would experience from a children s fairytale. Surprisingly, I
was wide awake throughout the entire show. In fact, I enjoyed the performance very much.
When the mammoth purple curtains were raised, my jaw dropped as I witnessed the props for the first
scene. In the first scene, there was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The flow of the scenes made the story understandable. However, the performance did not exactly
follow the same storyline as the movie. For example, Aladdin was actually sent to prison by Jafar and
he escaped it by using one of the genie s three wishes but the performance altered their story so they
need not to reenact that scene. I also believed that the performance could have had more backstory.
For example, the performance did not inform the audience that Princess Jasmine was fussy about
choosing her suitors and that Jafar was trying to court her so that he can take over the kingdom of

Price Gouging In The United States
The idea of price gouging can have many different perspectives on it, and is very controversial. Price
gouging is when a seller spikes their prices of goods, services, or other purchase products to a level
higher than reasonable. Ethically, I do agree with the fact that merchants shouldn t sky rocket their
product prices during a state of emergency price gouging.
Illegally, price gouging is continuing to affect our labor market and offset the cost of living in many
states. Price gouging is continuing to affect the health of many people due to pharmaceutical
companies and their major increases in price. Lastly, price gouging just is unjust, immoral, and against
the law in states. While there are no federal regulations to price gouging and ... Show more content on

Price gouging occurs when a merchant drastically raises their prices on daily necessities. When setting
cities living wage and cost of living, the cost of daily necessities plays a role. Cost of living is the
amount of money needed to sustain a certain level of living, including basic expenses such as housing,
food, taxes and health care.
A book called The fundamentals of minimum wage fixing by Francois Eyraud and Catherine Saget
talks brief about cost of living and how it is incorporated into minimum wage. The authors gave
different ways on how the cost of living is determined. According to the two, they shared that the cost
of living is determined by the price of goods (standard necessities to live), and wage statistics
submitted by the United States Department of Labor (Eyraud, Saget, 2005). Both living wage and cost
of living differentiates by state and cities. Cost of living effects how the government set the nations
minimum wage. When merchants continuously raise prices of daily necessities and they are
unreasonable, it can affect the cost of living. To prevent this trickle down effect, the United States
government should create federal regulations on price gouging to prevent an increase in cost of living
which then leads to an increase in minimum wage, which then leads to possible jobs

Introduction * To the British, as to people in the rest of the world, imperialism s golden age is now

This is a prospective case series study that enrolled 66 children aged 5 − 18 years who were presented
with nocturnal enuresis (NE). The study was conducted in two centers; Pediatric Sleep Centre (Rome,
Italy) where 28 children enrolled and Alexandria Main University Hospital (Alexandria, Egypt) where
38 children enrolled. All children with evidence of urinary tract infection, urinary tract anatomical
abnormalities, associated chromosomal syndromes, intellectual disabilities, major craniofacial
abnormalities, epilepsy, psychological issues (e.g. death in the family, sexual abuse) or diabetes
mellitus were excluded from the study. All the children primarily presented with NE and were
screened for 1st time using sleep clinical record (SCR) for the possibility of OSA. Twelve Egyptian
children (18.2%) refused to undergo the polysomnography study (PSG). Accordingly, 54 children
(81.8%) agreed to perform the PSG and they were analyzed (figure 1). The diagnosis of OSA was
confirmed in case of the presence of SBD symptoms in combination with obstructive apnea/hypopnea

Software Reusability
Software reusability
TERM PAPER
Software reusability is generally considered a way to solve the software development crisis. When we
solve a problem we try to apply the solution to similar problems because that makes our work easy
and simple. Now in this paper I would like to cover important aspects of software reusability. But one
thing is for sure software reusability can improve software productivity. Software reuse has become a
topic of much interest in the software community due to its potential benefits, which include increased
product quality and decreased product cost and schedule. The most substantial benefits derive from a
product line approach, where a common set of reusable software assets act as a base for subsequent ...

And it s not just a technical issue; it is highly managerial in nature. As much as libraries of reusable
code and other assets are important, they will not be fully utilized without management and process
support of reuse.
Organization and Process
The classical software development process does not support reuse.[2] Reusable assets should be
designed and built in a clearly defined, open way, with concise interface specifications,
understandable documentation, and an eye towards future use. Typically, customer, client, and contract
projects are built as one time only, without reuse in mind, and tend to be tightly bound within
themselves, without the more robust open interfaces which ease the reuse process. Therefore, in order
to make the most of software reuse, the software development process must evolve to include reuse
activities.
A strong organizational foundation must exist for reuse to succeed, since domain engineering involves
a different way of looking at software products, called a product line approach. A product line is a
family of similar products addressing a particular market segment, or domain, and provides a massive
opportunity for reuse. With a reuse process in place, every

the foes that he has encountered during his time which led to many successful raids. One of the key
advantages that his army had compared to others were the horses since they were armored and agile as
well. During combat the Mongols could use the horses as a shield because they re armored and they
can also shoot at the enemies with their ranged weapons such as a bow as well. The Mongol horses
only required grass as sustenance and the horses produced mare s milk as well. The Mongols aimed to

to continue building their tribe. The women could help with the growth of the population and the
children can grow up to become warriors or help around their tribes. He aimed to unify the tribes that

opposing tribe escape, they will eventually rebuild, so he believed to completely destroy the opposing
tribes, which eliminates the possibility of the enemy retaliating in the future. This tactic worked well

The Influence Of The Boston Tea Party

that took place was a message to Great Britain that we are through listing to you. The Tea Act which
was passed by the British Parliament had a purpose behind it. The purpose behind the Tea Act was to
save the East Indian Company from going bankrupt, but the Tea Act also lowered the payment the
companies had to pay to the British government. That s not all the Tea Act did, it also give the East
Indian Company a huge monopoly over the colonies because now the East Indian Company was able
to sell directly to the colonies. The British believe that the colonies wasn t going to object but they
failed to take into consideration not only the power of the colonial merchants who had been cut out as
middlemen from the sales of tea, but also the colonists would view this act as taxation without
representation . (Thought Co, What Led to the Boston Tea Party). Britain viewed the Tea Act as
something the Colonies wouldn t be upset about, but the colonies saw the Tea act as a one way deal
because the East Indian Company would import their tea into the colonies but it removed the tea that
was entering England from the colonies. The Colonies had to pay huge amount of taxes on the tea

My Manfathers
People have different beliefs about who our ancestors are. In other words, how humans came into
existence on the mother Earth, and who they were. There are many different types of origin stories,
ranging from tribal specific Native American stories to the story of Adam and Eve and beyond (Perea
18, 2014). As a Muslim, I believe all humans are the sons and daughters of Adam and Eves. However,
it is not clear if heaven that mentioned in the story is that magical place we all think of, or was it just
the mother Earth, but in much better form. I am from the Middle East, where most of the oldest
civilizations are located, and the origin of Islam, Christianity and Judaism. Since it is the oldest known
origin of humanity, the answer to where my ancestors came from is nearly impossible to answer,
because in order to find the answer you have to look back at maybe not only 10,000 years back, but
maybe millions, who knows? However, if you are asking me about my ancestors that I have heard of, I
still can not give you a clear answer due to the fact that I come from a dry land, and as we all know
water is an essential element of life, so the way ancestors had been living in the desert is by following
water, they were always moving.
Geologists now say that the desert was full of life, because there was a plenty of water, and that led to
the existence of many old civilizations. However, when the land starts drying out, people start
immigrating to other places, like Europe, Africa, the rest of Asia and the Americas.
In pow wow space, it is amazing to see the way that Native Americans are organizing themselves
around the drum and why. Dr. Hoehner described a pow wow as taking place within four circles
(Perea 25, 2014). Any culture has their own way of organizing themselves in a social gathering such
as singing, but I have always thought that American Indians pow wow space is built differently to
what mentioned in the book. The circle starts with fire, dancers mostly females, drums and both
singers and audience. Of course, that was not true.
The spacing topic made me think of a type of tribal singing that starting to disappear in the Arabian
Peninsula that had been practiced for thousands of years. It happens when two

Death In Venice Themes
Death in Venice by Thomas Mann, was told from the point of view of Gustav von Aschenbach. The
main theme of the novel was Aschenbach following around a little Italian boy, Tadzio. Tadzio reminds
Aschenbach of himself when he was a child. Aschenbach and Tadzio were ill as children which is why
Aschenbach becomes infatuated with Tadzio. Aschenbach was home schooled as a child because he
was very ill and his parents decided that it was best for him to remain isolated from the other children.
He came from a wealthy family which allowed him to live this lifestyle. The difference between the
two is that although Tadzio is ill as a child he was still presented opportunities to play with other
children and gain experiences. Part of the reason that Aschenbach as an adult has writers block is
because as a child and as a young adult he didn t have communication with the outside world. The
remainder of this essay will be focused on the fact that if Aschenbach lived a normal life like Tadzio
then the consequences of Aschenbach s legacy wouldn t have been tarnished . As Aschenbach s
character developed throughout the book, his appearance also changed which was caused by the
behavior of Tadzio. Tadzio possess something that Aschenbach didn t have when he was a child, a
childhood. In the novel Aschenbach sees an Oldman that has changed his appearance in order to fit in
with the younger crowd. For example, the Oldman dyed his hair. He is appalled by this but later on he
actually changes his appearance to become closer to Tadzio. Aschenbach is trying to reunite with his
youth. The obsession with the young boy, which shows itself as lust, is really his desire to be young
again. By pursuing Tadzio dressed as a youthful figure, he thinks he can achieve this. Aschenbach s
outward transformation is completed with help from the hotel barber. Aschenbach dyes his hair black,
applies cosmetics to his face, and arches his eyebrows. The result is a more youthful Aschenbach. If
Aschenbach lived a normal childhood he wouldn t have the desire as an adult to become a child once
again and follow Tadzio. In reality, the change in his appearance made Aschenbach look like a clown
which is how other people perceived him when he dies watching

Argyle Communication Theory
The theories of communication is the communication cycle in order such as aim, compose, deliver,

which brings the communication effective individuals communicating as the need should arise in a
two manner process which is being said and saying. When imparting to individuals we need to ensure
that they comprehend what we are stating and react to it appropriately. There are many sorts of
communication, for example, formal and informal language, communication through signing, verbal
and nonverbal dialect that can be a boundary. Communication is related to practice and could use this

Advantages Of User Innovation
The Advantages of User Innovation supporting document
Introduction
As the term suggests, User Innovation describes innovation created by any form of user, in contrast to
the traditional innovation approach which focuses on the producer only. It forms a major part of the
current trend of Open Innovation, which is expected to become an essential part and standard in most
companies innovation management within the next 10 years. Open Innovation in this context means
the use of purposive inflows and outflows of knowledge to accelerate internal innovation, and to
expand the markets for external use of innovation, respectively (Chesbrough, 2006). In general, Open
Innovation is a comparably new field of study defined in the late 1980`s, and research focuses still

The market share in year 5 of the Lead User s products reached 68%, compared to 33%. Finally, the
estimated sales are more than 8 times higher compared to traditional product development.
Reasons
One of the reasons for its success is the following: Lead Users, who are invited to Lead User
Workshops, have needs that are ahead of the rest of the market. Rather than market research, which
focuses on the average users, Lead Users reveal what the majority of the market will demand in the
future even before Early Adopters do. Then, they help during the workshop to readily develop
products that are perfectly suited to this future demand. When doing this, they are not biased by
functional fixedness, which leads to the strong tendancy to create new product lines instead of
incremental innovations.
All in all, the Lead User method represents the perfect recipe to create an incredibly profitable
monopoly situation when launching the new product.

  • 2. Four Period School Day Controversy After a schedule change, students and teachers have been having controversy about a four period and eight period school day. After two years of the new schedule, although calmed down somewhat, the controversy continues. An eight period school day (traditional schedule) seems to be far outweighed by a four period school day (block schedule). A four period school day provides academic, educational, and emotional benefits when compared to an eight period school day. A typical eight period school day would have eight forty seven minute long classes with a thirty minute lunch and five minutes between each class period, lasting the whole school year (7). A typical four period school day would have four ninety two minute long classes with a thirty minute lunch and seven minutes between each class period (7). The first four classes go from the middle of August to around the middle of January, then the next four go from the middle of January to the end of May. At Preston High School students and teachers were surveyed on stress levels from each schedule. They were also surveyed on which schedule they thought was more effective for learning. A consensus between all of the students and teachers agreed that the block schedule was more effective for learning (8). They also all agreed that an eight period day proved significantly more stressful when compared to their amount of stress in a four period day (8). A block schedule is very beneficial if it is properly implemented. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Key Results Of Testing For Ppp Essay 5.1 Introduction Following the methodology section, this chapter is going to present the main findings of the PPP test and relevant information, graphs and tables will be shown as well. The purpose of this part is to provide key results of testing for PPP in order to facilitate the following detailed discussions. It is no doubt that this section can be viewed as the core of the whole project because it depends on a variety of econometric tools to evaluate the financial data. The findings consist of two major aspects: the one is on the examination of the strong version of PPP, namely APPP; the other is on the test of RPPP, also known as the weak form of PPP. 5.2 Findings of Testing for APPP As stated earlier, the APPP is based on the law of one price, stating that the real exchange rate is equal to one. The formula is written by: (5) For the convenience of our research, the equation above can be simplified to: (6) where Et represents the nominal bilateral exchange rate, Pt* is the CPI in Japan, Pt means the Indian CPI. Before analysing, what should do is to transmute the raw data into the natural logarithm form. According to Jia and Rathi (2008), the major cause of transformation is that taking natural logarithms not only indicates the elasticity of economic variables, but eliminates the issue of heteroscedasticity efficiently. If an econometric model is heteroscedastic, the test of significance for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The term bullying is thrown around a bit excessively these days that we go to extremes when we hear the word, we either ignore it completely or we go off the handle and want to stamp everyone as a bully. As a society we have become desensitized to term while at the same time trying to stay politically correct, in other words we tend to look the other way, but when approached by others about it we try to save face. At times we even try to avoid explaining Darwins Theory of Evolution or in other words natural selection and label it as bullying. At the end of the day we need to address ... • 8. Analysis Of Verses Upon The Burning Of Our House Anne Bradstreet was and is a highly regarded Puritan poet of seventeenth century American literature. She defied cultural expectations of women at the time and became the first accomplished woman poet of the New World. As evident in her poetry, she was strictly loyal to God and her Puritan beliefs, but she was not exempt from grief and doubt in the face of tragedy. Some, however, would argue that her grief and doubt in response to those tragedies showed a stray from her strict Puritan belief system. One controversial tragic event, in particular, that she wrote about exemplified her struggle between earthly desires and heavenly truths: the blaze that overtook her family s home. Anne Bradstreet, in her poem Verses upon the Burning of Our House, demonstrates the common internal conflict of Christians as she battles between her Puritan theology and her innate human emotions in response to her devastating house fire. Anne was born in the early seventeenth century in England. She was privileged with an excellent education because her father, Thomas Dudley, was a steward to a prominent figure. She married Simon Bradstreet at just sixteen years of age while still residing in England. When Anne was still a teenager, the Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Company made the decision to leave and settle together in the New World, the Dudleys and Bradstreets journeyed with them. • 9. Reaction Of The Maillard Reaction Introduction The non enzymatic reaction of reducing sugars with amino groups of amino acids, peptides and proteins is called as non enzymatic glycosylation or simply glycation. This non enzymatic reaction ultimately results in the formation of complex brown pigments and protein protein crosslinks that were first studied under defined conditions by Maillard in the early 1900s (Maillard and Gautier, 1912) and the reaction came to known as the Maillard reaction. There is a condensation reaction between reducing sugar and free amino acids at the amino terminus or susceptible ε amino group of lysine residues of proteins producing labile N substituted glycosylamine (Schiff base) that may undergo two sequential rearrangements, forming a stable Amadori product (Fayle Gerrard, 2002). The reducing sugars namely, glucose, fructose, galactose, mannose, ribose and certain carbohydrate relatives are inherently reactive toward nucleophilic groups. Glucose is the least reactive among common sugars because it exists in least concentration in the open chain form (Paulsen and Pflughaupt, 1980). Amadori rearrangement was a key early step in the Maillard reaction (Hodge, 1955). Early glycation directs the formation of Schiff s bases and Amadori products that further oxidized to advanced glycated end products (AGEs) (Chetyrkin et al., 2008). Studies have shown that the glycation process (in the early stage where the interaction of sugars, such as glucose, with free amino groups of lysine and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote takes place in the movie Big Fish. It is about a father and son who don t get along very well. William Bloom, who is the son to Edward bloom, gets very upset with his father for always telling tall tales, or stories anywhere they go. In the beginning of the film, the father starts off by telling the story about him catching the fish at his sons wedding reception. William gets very angry with his father for telling this story once again, and the fact that it was at his son s reception. This occurrence leads to William and Edward to stop speaking to each other. If I played a woodwind instrument, I would have to blow in it to make music, but string instruments consist of playing with a bow to make music. After much thought, I decided that the violin was the best instrument due to its beautiful, unique sound, plus the possibilities are never ending. I could receive a compliment from a teacher, or even be accepted to the symphony. Cost of living is the amount of money needed to sustain a certain level of living, including basic expenses such as housing, food, taxes and health care. A book called The fundamentals of minimum wage fixing by Francois Eyraud and Catherine Saget talks brief about cost of living and how it is incorporated into minimum wage. According to the two, they shared that the cost of living is determined by the price of goods (standard necessities to live), and wage statistics submitted by the United States Department of Labor (Eyraud, Saget, 2005). Both living wage and cost of living differentiates by state and cities. Cost of living effects how the government set the nations minimum wage. Typically, customer, client, and contract projects are built as one time only, without reuse in mind, and tend to be tightly bound within themselves, without the more robust open interfaces which ease the reuse process. The Mongol horses only required grass as sustenance and the horses produced mare s milk as well. The Mongols aimed to kill everyone that was in the opposing tribes except for the children and women since they can be used to continue building their tribe. The women could help with the growth of the population and the children can grow up to become warriors or help around their tribes. He aimed to unify the tribes that he raids and calls them Mongols. Additionally, Genghis Khan believed that if he let any enemy in the opposing tribe escape, they will eventually rebuild, so he believed to completely destroy the opposing tribes, which eliminates the possibility of the enemy retaliating in the future. The Sons of Liberty were tired of Great Britain controlled over the port and trades on tea that they wanted to send Great Britain a message as well as King George III. The events that took place was a message to Great Britain that we are through listing to you. The Tea Act which was passed by the British Parliament had a purpose behind it. The purpose behind the Tea Act was to save the East Indian Company from going bankrupt, but the Tea Act also lowered the payment the companies had to pay to the British government. That s not all the Tea Act did, it also give the East Indian Company a huge monopoly over the colonies because now the East Indian Company was able to sell directly to the colonies. The British believe that the colonies wasn t going to object but they failed to take into consideration not only the power of the colonial merchants who had been cut out as middlemen from the sales of tea, but also the colonists would view this act as taxation without representation . (Thought Co, What Led to the Boston Tea Party). • 36. My Manfathers People have different beliefs about who our ancestors are. In other words, how humans came into existence on the mother Earth, and who they were. There are many different types of origin stories, ranging from tribal specific Native American stories to the story of Adam and Eve and beyond (Perea 18, 2014). As a Muslim, I believe all humans are the sons and daughters of Adam and Eves. However, it is not clear if heaven that mentioned in the story is that magical place we all think of, or was it just the mother Earth, but in much better form. I am from the Middle East, where most of the oldest civilizations are located, and the origin of Islam, Christianity and Judaism. Since it is the oldest known origin of humanity, the answer to where my ancestors came from is nearly impossible to answer, because in order to find the answer you have to look back at maybe not only 10,000 years back, but maybe millions, who knows? However, if you are asking me about my ancestors that I have heard of, I still can not give you a clear answer due to the fact that I come from a dry land, and as we all know water is an essential element of life, so the way ancestors had been living in the desert is by following water, they were always moving. Geologists now say that the desert was full of life, because there was a plenty of water, and that led to the existence of many old civilizations. However, when the land starts drying out, people start immigrating to other places, like Europe, Africa, the rest of Asia and the Americas. In pow wow space, it is amazing to see the way that Native Americans are organizing themselves around the drum and why. Dr. Hoehner described a pow wow as taking place within four circles (Perea 25, 2014). Any culture has their own way of organizing themselves in a social gathering such as singing, but I have always thought that American Indians pow wow space is built differently to what mentioned in the book. The circle starts with fire, dancers mostly females, drums and both singers and audience. Of course, that was not true. The spacing topic made me think of a type of tribal singing that starting to disappear in the Arabian Peninsula that had been practiced for thousands of years. It happens when two ... Whereas Billie King, on the other hand, won 6 Wimbledon single championships and 4 U.S. Open titles. Billie King ended up defeating Bobby Riggs in The Battle of the Sexes tennis match.
