The Theme Of Electricity Comes To Cocoa Bottom And An...
Throughout the two poems, Electricity comes to Cocoa Bottom and An Unknown Girl , there is an
obvious theme of disappointment. In An Unknown Girl , there is disappointment in many different
ways, such as the disappointment that western civilisation has taken over and that she s not linked to
her culture as much anymore. In Electricity... there is obvious disappointment conveyed to us I will
use the theme of disappointment to explain and compare the two poems.
Firstly, in Electricity... , there are many techniques that convey disappointment, one of them being
structure. Douglas has written in free verse, allowing her emotions to be put into the poem more freely
than other types of poetry structure. She has also shortened her three paragraphs ... Show more content

colours give you a sense of imagery, which leads to you feeling many different emotions, and this
relates to the theme of discovery. In contrast to the colourfulness though, both poems end in a simple
statement or closing sentence. the moment had passed. from Douglas sums up the poem, the silence is

Male Genital Mutilation Essay
Male Genital Mutilation Female genital mutilation in foreign countries is a hot topic that many people
stand up against. It is frowned upon by western civilization and there are entire organizations coming
to the rescue of female genital mutilation victims, yet very few stand up against male circumcision. If
female genital mutilation is illegal, why isn t male genital mutilation? Circumcision is a procedure
done primarily on infant males, in which the foreskin is surgically separated from the glans and cut
off. It started out as a religious procedure but was eventually adopted by medical personnel and
preformed regularly on male infants in the US. The removing of the foreskin is painful, can cause
severe damage, bleeding, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this logic, as the years go on male genital mutilation would eventually be performed on nearly all
babies in the US. I was given no additional information as to why it should be done, no pros and cons,
and no medical proof to back up her reasoning for why I should have my infant circumcised. My
experience with this nurse spiked my curiosity; I was appalled that doctors and nurses just assumed I
would blindly let them permanently take off a part of my child s genitals, acting as if it was routine
like the cutting of a baby s umbilical

Cultural Influences On Bullying
There are many influences that play their parts within Bullying that many of us are not always aware
of. Social roles, cultural beliefs and biases, social inequality, and even excising social conditions fall
within social issues of Bullying. For starters, a victim and Bullies are considered the social roles of
Bullying. The victim often describes the person being bullied as opposed to the bully is the person
initiating bullying.
When a person is initiating bullying, it often refers to verbal or physical harassment such as fighting,
calling names and even black mailing. In fact, researchers and bloggers have mentioned labeling kids,
as victims and Bullies does not help discard the situation. It is known to cause children to identify
themselves as victims and bullies and patterns may be repeated. Nonetheless, although social roles
such as Victims and Bullies can be negative as far as labeling, it has helps understand the source of
warning signs and aggressive behavior so it can be managed properly. For example, Warning signs
such as constantly speaking negative, getting into a lot of fights, being aggressive and even coming
home with scars and bruises. Average shows that potential bullying may occurs during the 4th 12th
grade. During these situations some schools have requested organizations and awareness taught during
classes to help educate kids on he effects and possible consequences of bullying.
During my research of bullying I came across many cultural beliefs

Graduation Rate Of The Paso Echs Students
DISCUSSION
The fact that not all El Paso ECHS students decide to enroll in this particular four year institution
could have attributed to the relatively low number of cases (n=315) in the study. It can be assumed
that these students enrolled in other universities and may have successfully completed the ECHS
model. The low number of ECHS graduates (n=125) can be attributed to different factors; such as
financial aid and data dates. For example, if a student does not meet the academic standards in one of
the semesters, the student may not qualify for financial aid the following year. Many ECHS students
rely heavily on financial aid; a lack of financial aid could potentially push these students to take out a
loan, get a job, and take less school hours (putting them behind). It is also important to note that this
study was done using data from the fall 2009 to the spring 2012 semesters. Graduation rates could
have increased significantly from the fall 2012 to spring 2015 semesters.
Analyzation of the data showed that first term GPA is strong indicator of future academic performance
and was supported with a strong significant difference. This supports our conclusion that a student s
first term GPA is crucial. Early intervention is crucial for these students since first term GPA
potentially indicates whether the student is capable of successfully completing the ECHS model.
Positive intervention upon entry to a four year university by counselors and educational staff could

Planning Process Group Essay
Assignment 1
1. Which process group starts at the start and ends at the end of the project and why?
Monitoring and controlling is the process group that starts at the start and ends at the end as it
performs integrated change control to manage and control changes to the cost baseline, scope and
schedule. Further, it helps in analyzing and measuring the performance of the project and finding the
variation of the project from the project management plan and provides asolutions to those problems.
2. Why does the closing process group start so early in the chart?
Since some project deliverables get finished before and get the sponsor acknowledgment that is the
reason the closing process group begins ahead of schedule in the chart.
3. Why do the planning and execution process groups have similar shapes and why is the executing
process group skewed to the right?
Both the planning and the execution process groups have the same shape as we know that everything
that is thought ahead and gets regard in planning process group will be done in the execution process
group. Since the execution is done when the fulfillment of the planning process group, the execution
process group is tilted towards the right. Nonetheless, the most elevated measure of cash and time of
all the process groups is taken by execution process group.
4. Did you see that the executing process group is larger and higher than the planning process group?
Why?

Persuasive Essay On Conversion Therapy
Conversion therapy, also known as reparative therapy, or Sexual Orientation Change Efforts (SOCE)
has a troubled history within the United States and abroad. Conversion therapy is the use of a variety
of means to attempt to change an individual s sexual or gender orientation. Current practices include
inducing vomiting or paralysis while showing a subject homoerotic images, having a subject snap a
rubber band on their wrist whenever they have certain thoughts, or using tactics to create shame or
aversion to same sex or transgender thoughts. Many established institutes claim that the therapy does
or doesn t work and offer contradicting evidence for their position. The Movement Advancement
Project, a group dedicated to providing research for the advancement of LGBT people, states in an
infographic that nine states, plus the District of Columbia and a handful of municipalities have banned
conversion therapy from being provided by licensed medical professionals to minors ( Kids 1). Based
on the established evidence and the overwhelming number of psychologists and sociologist that
disavow conversion therapy, along with the multitude of horror stories from children who were
persuaded, or forced, to participate by their parents, the federal government should ban conversion
therapy for all minors.
Despite the largely negative responses, many organizations support conversion therapy. Many
practitioners such as the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality

India Dark Age Essay
India s so called Dark Age, from 185 BCE to CE 300, was not dark regarding trade. Trade continued,
with more being sold to the Roman Empire than was being imported. In India, Roman coins were
piling up. The Kushan invaders were absorbed by India, Kushan kings adopting the manners and
language of the Indians and intermarrying with Indian royal families. The southern kingdom of
Andhra conquered Magadha in 27 BCE, ending the Sunga dynasty in Magadha, and Andhra extended
its power in the Ganges Valley, creating a new bridge between the north and the south. But this came
to an end as Andhra and two other southern kingdoms weakened themselves by warring against each
other. By the early 300s CE, power in India was returning to the Magadha region, ... Show more

Equine-Assisted Therapy Argumentative Essay
Many studies have shown that AAT is able to help a wide variety of people. Many different diseases
and disabilities have been proven to benefit from AAT. For example, in Table 1 in the equine assisted
therapy article, the author explains that each type of horse therapy benefits certain people. In dressage,
a type of riding where the horse and rider work together to make precision movements, helps people
with Polio, Parkinson s Disease, and traumatic head injury (Ratliffe and Sanekane 35). Yet, AAT is

ADHD, DCD, and visual impairments (Ratliffe and Sanekane 36). AAT is clinically proven to benefit
people of many different backgrounds and problems. The animals seem to have a special connection

Essay on The Punishments of the Medieval era
The Punishments of the Medieval Era When Shakespeare was born in 1564, Queen Elizabeth had
taken power a mere 6 years prior, and her justice system was very different from ours. In this paper, I
hope to explore some of the ways punishments were different, such as how many crimes had
individual punishments, often times depending on how severe the crime was. I will also go in depth to
one of the most infamous cases of the medieval period. Imprisonment was very rare. If you were in
jail, you were there because you were on trial, and you weren t allowed to return home. Trials were
very brief and if you were charged of a felony or treason, you weren t allowed to have a lawyer.
Unsurprisingly, trials were quick, with extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chair would be continuously lowered and raised into a river, as I previously mentioned. The
Cucking stool often drew in large crowds people who would laugh at the person. People who would
be stubborn and not speak at their hearings would be forced to lie on their backs on top of a large
pointy stone, while stones would be continuously put on wooden boards on their chests until the
weight eventually crushed them. Thieves were slightly odd in the medieval times as far as they re
punishments went. Thieves could get their first sentences reduced if they had learned of the benefits of
becoming a member of the clergy. These benefits were lost if these people were repeat offenders. The
theft of farm animals, which was considered a smaller crime, they would have their left hand burned
as a permanent mark of shame. This also would occur if they had broken into another man s home, but
this man didn t feel as if his life was in danger from the break in. Repeat offenders were sentenced to
death. In addition to all of these, people who took their own lives were to buried with a stake shoved
through their graves. At the end of my look into how justice was served back in Shakespeare s time, I
ll give a brief examination of what many people think of when they hear something about Medieval
times, Torture. When John Gerad, a priest/spy, was captured by Queen Elizabeth s guard, he was spent
3 years in captivity, until finally he was taken

Masculinity In Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump is a classic American movie that attempts to subvert the hegemon of American
masculinity. In Gump s simplified southern world, gender roles and expectations are very cut and dry,
Gump attempts to turn the patriarchy on its head through the relationships he makes, but still falls
victim to masculine expectations. Gump challenges our idea of masculinity by respecting people of
various backgrounds and races, falling in love with Jenny, and becoming a respected solider of the
United States Army. White men in the Jim Crow south were expected to have prejudices, and react
violently when someone does not fall on line these expectations. Gump and Bubba have an unusual
relationship for the time period of the movie. While the Vietnam War occurred after the ruling of
Brown v. Board of Education and the outlawing of segregation, many people, specifically white
southern men, still held prejudiced views. Bubba and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scene is a small sliver of the movie, but the small act speaks volumes of Gump s character. Gump

Investigating Ethical Qualms Of The Modern Toilet
Investigating Ethical Qualms of the Modern Toilet
Nina Levison
Initial interest and topic expansion
This paper started as a way to talk about my ethical qualms with the toilet and see if there was a
scientific basis to back them up. More than a history or philosophy of how the modern toilet came to
be, I wanted to see if there is scientific evidence to back up my idea of toilets and the modern sewage
treatment systems as wasteful. In order to understand the wastefulness, or efficiency, of the toilet
however, I had to answer the question, what happens when we flush? This may not be the most
interesting or sexiest information about waste, but it is an important look into a part of the waste
stream we contribute to daily, in fact, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modern sewage formed in response to the 1858 Great Stink of London. The Great Stink was a product
of many factors. The introduction of flush toilets replacing previously popular chamber pots increased
water and waste volume into cesspits. Additionally, these cesspits, once only used for excess rainwater
collection, began to carry waste from slaughterhouses and factories, contaminating the city before its
ultimate departure into the River Thames, which began to overflow with sewage along with its
tributaries. All of this combined with an unusually hot summer encouraged bacterial growth, a rancid
odor, and contributed to a cholera outbreak. In response, London built thousands of miles of
underground pipe and created the modern sewage treatment system [3][4].
Two categories of sewage treatment
Sewage treatment can be broken into two categories storm sewers and sanitary sewers [5].
1. Storm sewers
Storm sewers drain excess rain and groundwater from manmade infrastructure like roads and parking
lots. Sometimes the water may be processed to remove stuff like car oil, but for the most part, they get
less treatment than sanitary sewers or sometimes none at all[5].
2. Sanitary sewers
Sanitary sewers are processed to clean up human waste. Although there are many methods of dealing
with human waste, the generally accepted method in North America consists of a three stage sewage
treatment system. In this essay I will

Who Is Responsible For King Louis Xvi s Downfall
Frenchmen, I die guiltless of the crime imputed to me. I forgive the authors of my death and pray God

France, despite being resented and executed by the revolutionaries. Although Louis wanted the best
for France, he was ineffective as a ruler and it resulted to his execution by the guillotine. Attempt to
resolve the problems that plagued France were met with failures, which demonstrated the weakness of
the French monarchy. Despite a grand motive to eliminate France s troubles, King Louis XVI had
limited success in accomplishing this goal. Louis Auguste de France, later known as King Louis XVI,

One of the foolish decisions that he made was to support the American Revolution. France recently
suffered a defeat to the British in the Seven Years War, so they declared war on Britain as an official
American ally (King Louis XVI receives U.S. representatives). Although it seemed favorable for King
Louis XVI to support the American s effort for independence, it only aggravated France s problems by
increasing their debt. To make things worse, Louis s wife, Marie Antoinette, had a negative influence
on his decision making, but also spent France s money on extravagance when she danced all night at
masked balls and cheered wildly at the horse races... gathered around herself a clique of young nobles
who gambled away millions at cards (Plain 22). The antipathy the lower classes had for the nobility
only increased, since they believed the tax money should have been used to solve the crisis that
afflicted France. Nevertheless, the main problem that troubled France was the large amount of debt, so
they had to find a way to resolve this issue before the situation escalated and grew

We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal... (Declaration) and ...which shall
be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a

2) are two contradictory statements. One describes how every person, no matter their color, religion or
sex, is the same as everyone else and should be treated that way. The other says that all people, unless
they are Indians or enslaved (generally blacks), are the same. How can the morals of a country change
so drastically over just eleven short years? Possibly the largest irony of the entire situation has to be
that we, the people of the United States of America, wanted isolation from the European rule that was
oppressing our citizens, rule comprised of taxes and misrepresentation, if there was any representation
at all, when the constitution describes in section eight, The Congress shall have Power To lay and

escape the tyrannical oppression laid upon us by these taxes and unjustified usurpation of our hard

to confiscate that same money in the same fashion as the autocrat before them. It is quite easy to
become adrift in the cunning style of writing used in the constitution, but impermissible for a
federalist writer of that document to be able to properly bless it with the same signature as the same
declaration eleven years prior. The ideals described in the Declaration of Independence revolve around
the idea of the pursuit of happiness. Happiness of the people of a nation should be the number one

Juvenile Death Penalty Case Study
It appears that the most prominent question that comes from the juvenile death penalty is whether
executing juveniles is uncivilized and unjust. It is important to realize that judicial opinion and
mandatory statues have played a significant role in this developing facet of the capital punishment
debate. However, what is often overlooked is the role public opinion can play on the outcome have
some cases that may be presented to the Supreme Court even if the judiciary view might be the
opposite. The central question examined is the culpability of the juvenile. Now those who may be in
favor of the juvenile death penalty could feel as though the culpability of a minor should be based on a
case by case basis and not consider the culpability level of one offender and applying that to all. On

materials were paired with simple instructions: create a prosthesis that could replace a human hand.

A Human s Five Senses
A human s five senses are normally separate from each other, with no one particular sense having an
exact and direct relation to another. This statement is true for most, but not for everyone. There are
individuals who experience a condition called synesthesia, in which two or more of the five senses can
possibly trigger one another. Oftentimes people with this condition do not realize that their perception
differs from most people around them. Two people, one with this condition and one without it, could
see or feel everything entirely differently, a fascinating phenomenon that scientists have begun to
study. After much analysis done by the scientists, three distinguishing types have been identified to
most commonly affect specific senses. One of the three most common types of synesthesia that affects
a human s perception is called grapheme to color. This type describes the process of sensing or
physically seeing a projected color when a letter is shown or thought of. Interestingly enough, due to
this unchanging perspective, a synesthete may feel unsettled if a letter is in a color that does not match
the color they see for that specific letter. Seeing letters in accordance to color may help a student learn
better in terms of being able to name letters and remember their colors. According to World Book

Reinhold Niebuhr s Model Of Christian Ethics
Subject Area
This thesis proposal falls under the umbrella of theological ethics. Specifically, the role of
ecclesiology as a critical component of theological ethics.
Thesis Statement The foundation premises for Reinhold Niebuhr s ethics of Christian social
engagement can be improved by adding the ecclesiastical focus found in Dietrich Bonhoeffer s ethics
of Christian social engagement.
American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr offers a model of theological ethics grounded in anthropology,
Christology, and eschatology. These three theological components create the basis for Christian
realism, the crux of his theological ethics. However, nowhere in this approach does Niebuhr provide
space for ecclesiology. Essentially, his idea of the Church is collapsed into the schema of Christianity.
As he develops this model of ethics based in Christian realism, he fails to account for the appropriate
influence and power of the Church. Therefore, I believe his theological ethics lack force, improved
through the intentional inclusion of a vibrant and socially engaged ecclesiology.
Bonhoeffer s ethics of social engagement differ from Niebuhr s in that ecclesiology plays a more
formative role in establishing the foundational premises of ethics. Bonhoeffer would argue that the ...

In fact, his ethical model flourishes in a secular age of implicit cynicism. However, the mission of the
Church becomes muddied, unclear, and belittled in this model. A shallow ecclesiology of this sort fails
to see the Church s role in the ministry of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:19), realized in an ethic of social
engagement. By including Bonhoeffer as a dialogue partner, allowing Bonhoeffer to contribute to
Niebuhr s ethics, a new ethical synthesis is created. One where the Church s mission is not collapsed ,
but, instead, finds a new purpose in its mission for the public good, enacting its ministry of
reconciliation in the

Irish Hibernophobia
Though most Irish emigrants left their homes in search of a better lives free from persecution, those
who settled in the United States typically found equal levels of persecution yet, chose to remain
stateside because of the opportunities for work and the new found sense of community among Irish
immigrants in the United States. The first immigrant to enter the United States through Ellis Island,
Annie Moore, was a 15 year old from County Cork. Since the colonial times, Irish immigrants have
been ever present in the United States; however, also ever present is hibernophobia, or anti Irish
sentiment.
From the Norman Invasion in the late 12th century until the formation of the Irish Free State in 1922,
Ireland was either under direct English rule or subject to direct British political involvement. Under
British rule, the Irish were stereotyped as stupid, half human savages and later, as lazy, idle drunkards
(Judd). Not so much changed in terms of hibernophobia for those who left Ireland for the United
States. In fact, several new stereotypes were born. The Irish were again labeled lazy drunkards, an
ironic stereotype because of the contradicting occupational stereotypes of the Irish being policemen,
lawyers, firefighters, and bartenders which are well paying, steady jobs that could not be held by lazy
drunkards. The Irish were also stereotyped as violent because of the prevalence of usually criminal
gangs such as the Dead Rabbits and The Westies and events such as Bloody

Hall Of Justice Analysis
During the conversation between Joe and Louis in Act II, Scene 7, Joe explains that the day before, he
accidentally showed up for work at the Hall of Justice on a Sunday. Due to the fact that the Hall is
closed on Sundays, Joe arrived to discover a deserted courthouse and panicked, thinking, The whole
Hall of Justice, it s empty, it s deserted, it s gone out of business. Forever (Kushner 78). Although it
was deserted simply due to the fact that it was Sunday, the empty Hall of Justice symbolizes freedom.
Specifically, this can be seen when Joe states, It would be...heartless terror. Yes. Terrible, and...Very
great. To shed your skin, every old skin, one by one and then walk away, unencumbered, into the
morning (Kushner 78 79). This shows that an empty Hall of Justice would ... Show more content on

In turn, individuals would then have the freedom to determine their own beliefs regarding justice. This
can be seen when Joe states, I just wondered what a thing it would be...if overnight everything you
owe anything to, justice, or love, had really gone away. Free (Kushner 78), which again shows that an
empty Hall of Justice symbolizes freedom from both the Hall and the idea of justice itself. Aside from
this point in the play, the subject of justice had been brought up twice before. Immediately preceding
Joe s description of an empty Hall of Justice, in Act II, Scene 6, Joe had struggled with the concepts of
justice and ethics when contemplating accepting the job offer Roy had provided him with.
Specifically, Roy obtained the opportunity to join the Justice Department in Washington, D.C. in order
to help prevent Roy from becoming disbarred. Upon realizing this, Joe proclaims, Even if I said yes to
the job, it would be illegal to interfere. With the hearings. It s unethical. No. I can t (Kushner 73),
realizing that accepting the job opportunity would make him obligated to act unjustly according to the
law and ethics. In response, Roy argues, I must have eyes in

Essay on Happiness and Social Status in Great Expectations
Charles Dickens uses his own opinions to develop the larger than life characters in Great Expectations.
The novel is written from the point of view of the protagonist, Pip. Pip guides the reader through his
life, describing the different stages from childhood to manhood. Many judgments are made regarding
the other characters, and Pip s views of them are constantly changing according to his place in the
social hierarchy. For instance, Pip feels total admiration that, later, turns to total shame for the man
who raised him, Joe Gargery. The primary theme in this novel questions whether being in a higher
social and economic class helps a person to achieve true happiness. This idea is shown through Pip s
innocence at the forge, visits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pip does not tell Joe because he fears he will lose his companionship. In the future, Pip will struggle
with telling the truth because of the fear that society will think less of him. Later that same day, the
police are engaged in a search party to find the criminal. Joe and Pip accompany them; although, they
do not believe that he must be apprehended. Once Magwitch is taken into custody, Joe and Pip both
shed a tear. Pip s life at the forge is difficult due to Mrs. Joe s harsh nature, but he is also surrounded
by the goodness and love of Joe. He has been taught that humans of all societal levels are important.
Pip is content at the forge until pompous Uncle Pumblechook, Joe s uncle, takes him to visit to Satis
House, for the first time, where he makes the acquaintance of Miss Havisham and Estella. Satis House
is dismal and devoid of life with the exception of Estella, in Pip s eyes. Estella is a pretty, proud, and
emotionless girl with who treats Pip badly yet still causes Pip to become completely infatuated with
her. The forge now makes Pip ashamed and embarrassed because a coarse, common man could never
spend an eternity with such a beauty. Pip is so confused about Estella s insults intertwined with her
flirting that all he really knows is that he is ashamed of his social standing. Pip s love for Joe was
shadowed by this embarrassment. #8230;I was ashamed of the dear good fellow #8212;I know I was

Robot Takeover Essay
Since before the standing of the Luddites, society has had a fear of technology and it s advances into
the job market. According to Volti, (2012), job security is an important factor is people s satisfaction in
life and on the job (p. 199), and with the threat of anyone or thing taking over is extremely unsettling.
During the Industrial Revolution, people saw technology advancing and replacing people in factories
which enhanced fears of a complete take over. Decades have passed and we have not seen the
overtaking by these machines because the machines are dependent on human maintenance and
programing, but with the fast, exponential rate of the advancement of artificial intelligence, will
technology finally encroach on most positions now held by humans? There are arguments on both
sides of the line, some stating new positions will be created with the help of technology, others say
humans are doomed and the robot takeover is closer than we think. Whichever side of the line they
lean towards, one thing they all agree upon is that robots, artificial intelligence will be a common site
in most all fascist of society. Arntz, Gregory and Zierahn (2017), believe current statistics, stating up
to half of all jobs are at risk of takeover by automation, do not consider tasks and jobs that will be
created to assist technology (p. 157). Just as during the Industrial Revolution when the Luddites
believed technology would take over, currently no one can foresee what new positions will

The Situation Of The Iran Hostage Crisis
On November 4, 1979, an angry mob of some 300 to 500 supposed students who called themselves
Imam s Disciples, laid siege to the American Embassy in Tehran, Iran. The mob held 66 U.S. citizens
and diplomats as hostages. Women and African Americans were released a short while later, but 52
hostages still remained for 444 days. The president took precautions to ensure the safety of the
hostages as well as U.S. relations in Iran. This terrorist act triggered the most profound crisis of the
Carter presidency and began a personal ordeal for Jimmy Carter and the American people. The events
in the Iran Hostage Crisis demonstrate how bad the president at the time, Jimmy Carter, can handle
such a horrible situation. Several negotiations were held between President Jimmy Carter and the mob
at the Embassy even if they weren t taken as good with the mob. First off, Carter imposed sanctions
and applied diplomatic pressure to encourage negotiations for the release of the hostages. Carter then
cancelled oil imports from Iran, expelled a number of Iranians from the U.S., and freezing about $8
billion of Iranian assets in the U.S. The Iranian government denied any responsibility for the incident,
but their failure to take action against the hostage takers belied the denial. This was one of the first
mistakes; making the enemy mad, therefore giving them a stronger spring to bounce back on when
you go attack or invade in their land.

The Temperance Movement In The 19th Century
The Temperance movement began in the early 18th century around 1820. Though before the
Temperance Movement, there existed some files that, against the idea and actions of alcoholism.
Though, total abstinence of alcohol was still very rarely practiced or advocated. There was were
preference concentrating on the difficult spirits upon alcoholism than on the moral reform of legal
measures against the beverages. In the 19th century to the early 20th century, the temperance
campaign/movement converted to an established coordinated application to further encourage the
moderation in the consumption of alcohol instead of their initial task: Demanding for complete
renunciation of the alcoholic beverages.
Within Europe, the earliest temperances movement had originated in Ireland during the 1820 s.

Vaccination Crisis and Controversies in Africa
The Africa past colonial, past aftereffects, and its evils like malnutrition, illiteracy, war and the refusal
of a part of the population in the developed countries especially in America to let American children
get vaccinated raised the problem of vaccination especially in a bruised population in Africa. The
current problem is whether to suspend vaccination campaigns or to continue the vaccination for the

Andrew Moulden: Every Vaccine Produces Harm . A question remaining posed after his death why the
name of this brilliant researcher and his life s work had nearly been deleted from the internet. Is his
discoveries inconvenient for large firms, or undermine large firms business? Heading the programs of
birth control lavish by the developed countries which according to the Africans are only excuses to be
able to control Africa, because the ratio population/ area is very low in Africa by contrast to the ratio
in certain European countries where those programs are not applied. A portion of the population

apartheid where the aim of Dr. Wouter Basson research was to find a chemical way to stem the rise of
the black population (sterilization of black women by a vaccine and development of bacteria to make
these populations ill) (blogs.mediapart.fr). The case of Tuskegee Syphilis Study Brandt recounts in

What Happened To Rosemary In The Giver
What is the story of Rosemary? Rosemary was a female that was selected to become the new
Receiver. The female Twelve was puzzled and a little frightened just like Jonas. Rosemary was
described as a self possessed, serene, intelligent and eager to learn female by The Giver. When
Rosemary presented herself to start her training, she was happy, excited, and nervous. Her training
began, and she felt enthusiastic. For five weeks, The Giver gave her pleasant memories; a ride on a
merry go round and a kitten to play with. However, she wanted to experience everything because she
knew that it was her responsibility. Thus, The Giver gave her memories of loneliness and loss, causing
her to be stunned. Rosemary changed ever since receiving that sad memory. The Giver still

release, and all her memories got transferred to the community, they added a rule that a the Receiver

away from the river? The Giver advised Jonas to stay away from the river because if Jonas passed
away, all his memories would be transferred to the community. Compared to Rosemary that held 5
weeks worth of memories, Jonas holds one year of memories of all sorts of things. All the memories
that Jonas received would devastate the community to a new extent. The society would have to

What Does Runaway Kanye West Mean
Runaway Kanye West
A year before this song was released Kanye West had his famous moment when he interrupted Taylor
Swifts VMA acceptance speech. After that moment he was tortured by the media and hated by many.
The following year he performed this song Runaway at the next VMA s. I believe it was an apology to
women he had hurt and disrespected, Taylor being one of them, and showed how lonely and
vulnerable Kanye is. I think it impacted the way people view Kanye, and affected a culture of men as
he describes as douchbags , and scum bags and how men in society need to change. It is a Kanye West
song, so the quality and production of the song is made very well. Kanye is not know to have less the

  • 2. The Theme Of Electricity Comes To Cocoa Bottom And An... Throughout the two poems, Electricity comes to Cocoa Bottom and An Unknown Girl , there is an obvious theme of disappointment. In An Unknown Girl , there is disappointment in many different ways, such as the disappointment that western civilisation has taken over and that she s not linked to her culture as much anymore. In Electricity... there is obvious disappointment conveyed to us I will use the theme of disappointment to explain and compare the two poems. Firstly, in Electricity... , there are many techniques that convey disappointment, one of them being structure. Douglas has written in free verse, allowing her emotions to be put into the poem more freely than other types of poetry structure. She has also shortened her three paragraphs ... In contrast to the colourfulness though, both poems end in a simple statement or closing sentence. the moment had passed. from Douglas sums up the poem, the silence is more prominent. • 3. Male Genital Mutilation Essay Male Genital Mutilation Female genital mutilation in foreign countries is a hot topic that many people stand up against. It is frowned upon by western civilization and there are entire organizations coming to the rescue of female genital mutilation victims, yet very few stand up against male circumcision. If female genital mutilation is illegal, why isn t male genital mutilation? Circumcision is a procedure done primarily on infant males, in which the foreskin is surgically separated from the glans and cut off. It started out as a religious procedure but was eventually adopted by medical personnel and preformed regularly on male infants in the US. The removing of the foreskin is painful, can cause severe damage, bleeding, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With this logic, as the years go on male genital mutilation would eventually be performed on nearly all babies in the US. I was given no additional information as to why it should be done, no pros and cons, and no medical proof to back up her reasoning for why I should have my infant circumcised. My experience with this nurse spiked my curiosity; I was appalled that doctors and nurses just assumed I would blindly let them permanently take off a part of my child s genitals, acting as if it was routine like the cutting of a baby s umbilical ... • 4. Cultural Influences On Bullying There are many influences that play their parts within Bullying that many of us are not always aware of. Social roles, cultural beliefs and biases, social inequality, and even excising social conditions fall within social issues of Bullying. For starters, a victim and Bullies are considered the social roles of Bullying. The victim often describes the person being bullied as opposed to the bully is the person initiating bullying. When a person is initiating bullying, it often refers to verbal or physical harassment such as fighting, calling names and even black mailing. In fact, researchers and bloggers have mentioned labeling kids, as victims and Bullies does not help discard the situation. It is known to cause children to identify themselves as victims and bullies and patterns may be repeated. Nonetheless, although social roles such as Victims and Bullies can be negative as far as labeling, it has helps understand the source of warning signs and aggressive behavior so it can be managed properly. • 5. Graduation Rate Of The Paso Echs Students DISCUSSION The fact that not all El Paso ECHS students decide to enroll in this particular four year institution could have attributed to the relatively low number of cases (n=315) in the study. It can be assumed that these students enrolled in other universities and may have successfully completed the ECHS model. The low number of ECHS graduates (n=125) can be attributed to different factors; such as financial aid and data dates. For example, if a student does not meet the academic standards in one of the semesters, the student may not qualify for financial aid the following year. Many ECHS students rely heavily on financial aid; a lack of financial aid could potentially push these students to take out a loan, get a job, and take less school hours (putting them behind). It is also important to note that this study was done using data from the fall 2009 to the spring 2012 semesters. Graduation rates could have increased significantly from the fall 2012 to spring 2015 semesters. Analyzation of the data showed that first term GPA is strong indicator of future academic performance and was supported with a strong significant difference. This supports our conclusion that a student s first term GPA is crucial. Early intervention is crucial for these students since first term GPA potentially indicates whether the student is capable of successfully completing the ECHS model. Positive intervention upon entry to a four year university by counselors and educational staff could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Planning Process Group Essay Assignment 1 1. Which process group starts at the start and ends at the end of the project and why? Monitoring and controlling is the process group that starts at the start and ends at the end as it performs integrated change control to manage and control changes to the cost baseline, scope and schedule. Further, it helps in analyzing and measuring the performance of the project and finding the variation of the project from the project management plan and provides asolutions to those problems. 2. Why does the closing process group start so early in the chart? Since some project deliverables get finished before and get the sponsor acknowledgment that is the reason the closing process group begins ahead of schedule in the chart. 3. Why do the planning and execution process groups have similar shapes and why is the executing process group skewed to the right? Both the planning and the execution process groups have the same shape as we know that everything that is thought ahead and gets regard in planning process group will be done in the execution process group. Since the execution is done when the fulfillment of the planning process group, the execution process group is tilted towards the right. • 7. Persuasive Essay On Conversion Therapy Conversion therapy, also known as reparative therapy, or Sexual Orientation Change Efforts (SOCE) has a troubled history within the United States and abroad. Conversion therapy is the use of a variety of means to attempt to change an individual s sexual or gender orientation. Current practices include inducing vomiting or paralysis while showing a subject homoerotic images, having a subject snap a rubber band on their wrist whenever they have certain thoughts, or using tactics to create shame or aversion to same sex or transgender thoughts. Many established institutes claim that the therapy does or doesn t work and offer contradicting evidence for their position. The Movement Advancement Project, a group dedicated to providing research for the advancement of LGBT people, states in an infographic that nine states, plus the District of Columbia and a handful of municipalities have banned conversion therapy from being provided by licensed medical professionals to minors ( Kids 1). Based on the established evidence and the overwhelming number of psychologists and sociologist that disavow conversion therapy, along with the multitude of horror stories from children who were persuaded, or forced, to participate by their parents, the federal government should ban conversion therapy for all minors. Despite the largely negative responses, many organizations support conversion therapy. Many practitioners such as the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality ... In India, Roman coins were piling up. The Kushan invaders were absorbed by India, Kushan kings adopting the manners and language of the Indians and intermarrying with Indian royal families. The southern kingdom of Andhra conquered Magadha in 27 BCE, ending the Sunga dynasty in Magadha, and Andhra extended its power in the Ganges Valley, creating a new bridge between the north and the south. But this came to an end as Andhra and two other southern kingdoms weakened themselves by warring against each other. By the early 300s CE, power in India was returning to the Magadha region, ... • 10. Essay on The Punishments of the Medieval era The Punishments of the Medieval Era When Shakespeare was born in 1564, Queen Elizabeth had taken power a mere 6 years prior, and her justice system was very different from ours. In this paper, I hope to explore some of the ways punishments were different, such as how many crimes had individual punishments, often times depending on how severe the crime was. I will also go in depth to one of the most infamous cases of the medieval period. Imprisonment was very rare. If you were in jail, you were there because you were on trial, and you weren t allowed to return home. Trials were very brief and if you were charged of a felony or treason, you weren t allowed to have a lawyer. Unsurprisingly, trials were quick, with extremely ... The Cucking stool often drew in large crowds people who would laugh at the person. People who would be stubborn and not speak at their hearings would be forced to lie on their backs on top of a large pointy stone, while stones would be continuously put on wooden boards on their chests until the weight eventually crushed them. Thieves were slightly odd in the medieval times as far as they re punishments went. Thieves could get their first sentences reduced if they had learned of the benefits of becoming a member of the clergy. These benefits were lost if these people were repeat offenders. The theft of farm animals, which was considered a smaller crime, they would have their left hand burned as a permanent mark of shame. This also would occur if they had broken into another man s home, but this man didn t feel as if his life was in danger from the break in. Repeat offenders were sentenced to death. In addition to all of these, people who took their own lives were to buried with a stake shoved through their graves. At the end of my look into how justice was served back in Shakespeare s time, I ll give a brief examination of what many people think of when they hear something about Medieval times, Torture. In Gump s simplified southern world, gender roles and expectations are very cut and dry, Gump attempts to turn the patriarchy on its head through the relationships he makes, but still falls victim to masculine expectations. Gump challenges our idea of masculinity by respecting people of various backgrounds and races, falling in love with Jenny, and becoming a respected solider of the United States Army. White men in the Jim Crow south were expected to have prejudices, and react violently when someone does not fall on line these expectations. Investigating Ethical Qualms Of The Modern Toilet Investigating Ethical Qualms of the Modern Toilet Nina Levison Initial interest and topic expansion This paper started as a way to talk about my ethical qualms with the toilet and see if there was a scientific basis to back them up. More than a history or philosophy of how the modern toilet came to be, I wanted to see if there is scientific evidence to back up my idea of toilets and the modern sewage treatment systems as wasteful. In order to understand the wastefulness, or efficiency, of the toilet however, I had to answer the question, what happens when we flush? This may not be the most interesting or sexiest information about waste, but it is an important look into a part of the waste stream we contribute to daily, in fact, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Modern sewage formed in response to the 1858 Great Stink of London. The Great Stink was a product of many factors. The introduction of flush toilets replacing previously popular chamber pots increased water and waste volume into cesspits. Additionally, these cesspits, once only used for excess rainwater collection, began to carry waste from slaughterhouses and factories, contaminating the city before its ultimate departure into the River Thames, which began to overflow with sewage along with its tributaries. All of this combined with an unusually hot summer encouraged bacterial growth, a rancid odor, and contributed to a cholera outbreak. In response, London built thousands of miles of underground pipe and created the modern sewage treatment system [3][4]. Two categories of sewage treatment Sewage treatment can be broken into two categories storm sewers and sanitary sewers [5]. 1. Storm sewers Storm sewers drain excess rain and groundwater from manmade infrastructure like roads and parking lots. Sometimes the water may be processed to remove stuff like car oil, but for the most part, they get less treatment than sanitary sewers or sometimes none at all[5]. 2. Sanitary sewers Sanitary sewers are processed to clean up human waste. Although there are many methods of dealing with human waste, the generally accepted method in North America consists of a three stage sewage treatment system. In this essay I will ... This statement is true for most, but not for everyone. There are individuals who experience a condition called synesthesia, in which two or more of the five senses can possibly trigger one another. Oftentimes people with this condition do not realize that their perception differs from most people around them. Two people, one with this condition and one without it, could see or feel everything entirely differently, a fascinating phenomenon that scientists have begun to study. After much analysis done by the scientists, three distinguishing types have been identified to most commonly affect specific senses. One of the three most common types of synesthesia that affects a human s perception is called grapheme to color. This type describes the process of sensing or physically seeing a projected color when a letter is shown or thought of. Interestingly enough, due to this unchanging perspective, a synesthete may feel unsettled if a letter is in a color that does not match the color they see for that specific letter. Seeing letters in accordance to color may help a student learn better in terms of being able to name letters and remember their colors. • 22. Reinhold Niebuhr s Model Of Christian Ethics Subject Area This thesis proposal falls under the umbrella of theological ethics. Specifically, the role of ecclesiology as a critical component of theological ethics. Thesis Statement The foundation premises for Reinhold Niebuhr s ethics of Christian social engagement can be improved by adding the ecclesiastical focus found in Dietrich Bonhoeffer s ethics of Christian social engagement. American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr offers a model of theological ethics grounded in anthropology, Christology, and eschatology. These three theological components create the basis for Christian realism, the crux of his theological ethics. However, nowhere in this approach does Niebuhr provide space for ecclesiology. Essentially, his idea of the Church is collapsed into the schema of Christianity. As he develops this model of ethics based in Christian realism, he fails to account for the appropriate influence and power of the Church. Therefore, I believe his theological ethics lack force, improved through the intentional inclusion of a vibrant and socially engaged ecclesiology. Irish Hibernophobia Though most Irish emigrants left their homes in search of a better lives free from persecution, those who settled in the United States typically found equal levels of persecution yet, chose to remain stateside because of the opportunities for work and the new found sense of community among Irish immigrants in the United States. The first immigrant to enter the United States through Ellis Island, Annie Moore, was a 15 year old from County Cork. Since the colonial times, Irish immigrants have been ever present in the United States; however, also ever present is hibernophobia, or anti Irish sentiment. From the Norman Invasion in the late 12th century until the formation of the Irish Free State in 1922, Ireland was either under direct English rule or subject to direct British political involvement. Under British rule, the Irish were stereotyped as stupid, half human savages and later, as lazy, idle drunkards (Judd). Not so much changed in terms of hibernophobia for those who left Ireland for the United States. In fact, several new stereotypes were born. The Irish were again labeled lazy drunkards, an ironic stereotype because of the contradicting occupational stereotypes of the Irish being policemen, lawyers, firefighters, and bartenders which are well paying, steady jobs that could not be held by lazy drunkards.
