The Global Issue Of The Industrial Revolution
The industrial revolution known for many things including the peak point where human population hit
one billion. It took humans 130 years to hit two billion and as time moved on it took less and less
time, the fifth billion only took 13 years to accomplish (Worldometers). It may have started as a great
thing in the industrial revolution but now in the twenty first century population has become a global
issue. A global issue can be identified because it is not only affecting the whole human race, but also
global in the sense that it affects the whole world. War and conflict, poverty, high cost of living,
degradation of the environment, depletion of natural resources, and unemployment all caused by the
ever growing human population. William Halal and Michael Marien identified, what is known as the
Mega Crisis, A global environmental and economic collapse or near collapse, along with attendant
problems of rising prices, mass protests, wide spread psychic stress, and lawlessness. (Halal and
Marien. 2011) and although I admire the work of these authors one aspect that they tend overlook is
the connecting link between all trends leading to the Megacrisis, overpopulation. Over population is
when the number of living humans is compared to the available resources, such as water and the
essentials they need to survive. Imagine in some extraordinary event the world loses a quarter of its
population, many of these trends mentioned and those identified by Halal and Marien would

Sport And The American Dream Analysis
Tennis, A Step to a Women s Athleticism Awareness
Tennis is a sport that might not catch people s interest on TV, but it surely is a sport that people admire
and love to play. The one reason why it might be very admirable would probably be because it is not
inclusive to any race, ethnicity, or culture. If you look at the tennis players that are involved in the
game, their backgrounds are not very similar to other tennis players. Unlike basketball, you would
notice that it is dominated by African Americans. Despite that, one of the negative attributes of tennis
is the dominance of males. Tennis is a game that is open to everyone; however, there are gender
differences that affect the women players. Women don t get paid the same as men, men s finals attracts
more attention and is awaited for more than women s finals, also the men tend to get more
opportunities outside of tennis (commercials).

Personal Food And Energy Audit
Other Factors to Consider
One thing to acknowledge in a personal food and energy audit is that the place where we live alters
our consumption. My own food and energy audit was conducted within a rural setting in an
industrialized country. However consumption levels change from urban to rural areas, and from
industrialized to developing countries. Rural and urban areas have different ways of producing and
obtaining their food characterized by the landscape and the lifestyle of the people. Additionally,
industrialized countries consume more than developing countries due to higher levels of affluence
(Hamilton, et al., 2015).
In relation to the place of consumption, another thing to acknowledge is that every one of us has our

Film Analysis Of The Movie Kingsm The Secret Service
The movie Kingsman: The Secret Service is a thriller and action packed movie revolving around
Kingsman a spy agency which for decades has been in action undercover to save the mankind from its
enemies. The theme of the film revolves around the triumph of good over evil and how the good side
eventually wins, diminishing the evil. The movie evokes a feeling of thrill and anticipation through the
mise en scene it has to offer. Mise en scene is the information that the film provides through the
medium of vision. Mise en scene plays an important role in this movie as a lot of visual effects are
used in the film to show a technologically advanced world filled with high tech gadgets, weapons, and
systems.
The movie takes place in multiple locations be it Kentucky, London, Argentina or more. The
audiences are introduced to these locations before each scene through extremely long establishing
shots with the name of the geographical location appearing on the side. As most of the scenes are
taking place indoors this introduction of the geographical location provides an in depth of the diegesis
to the audiences. It also helps in the creation of space as closed indoor spaces cannot convey their
locations according to the need of the story, whether they are actually shot there or not. The movie
starts off with a fight sequence in the Middle East, making the subject of the film clear and thus
preparing them for the violence that is yet to come. The movie has two crucial characters

Color as Metaphor in Film What Dreams May Come
Looking at landscape art, especially when painted by one of the masters, many have undoubtedly
pondered: what would it be like to live there? Shapes and attention to detail are, of course, important
in a painting. However, it is color that draws the eye and inspires the heart. Oscar Wilde, an Irish poet
and dramatist, spoke well of this when he noted that, Mere color, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied
with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways. (qtd in color ) . Vincent Ward
had a similar understanding of this impact when, in 1998, he directed the movie What Dreams May
Come. Looking at this film, one can easily imagine being inside a living painting. The use of color to

Using this deeper shade highlights the intensity of her loss and confusion without over powering the
scene. As the days and weeks pass by, Annie tries to return to a normal life. However, with the other
half of her soul gone, she finds this to daunting of a task. Sitting at her vanity, wearing a very pale
lavender gown, she chooses to end her life. She places several crushed pills into a bowl of pudding,
and after eating it, she waits to die. The lightness of purple used here shows that it is not her will that
is weak; it is the weakness of her connection with Chris that drives her to make this fatal choice. After
learning of Annie s suicide and the self induced hell she will face, Chris makes the decision to enter
hell, find Annie, and return with her to heaven. By using their connection as a sort of homing device,
Chris descends ever deeper in to the pit of despair. He finds himself falling through an actual sea of
faces where, after landing on the floor of hell s basement, locates what looks like a dilapidated version
of his and Annie s house. Everything that can be seen in this purgatory looks as if the color has been
drained by a leech. Black, gray, dirty yellows and sepia like tones abound in all directions, except for a
single tree, which stands in front of the door to the house. This one tree, standing in defiance of the
dreary world around it,

Thomas Nagel s Theory Of Death Essay
In this paper, I will first elaborate on my understanding of Thomas Nagel s theory as to why death, a
permanent nonexistent state, is an undesirable state of being. I will then argue as to why I believe that
death is a misfortune using the argument that death terminates the positive experience of life as well as
rebut the counter argument for why death is good because it gives meaning to life.
Nagel champions the belief that death, a state of permanent posthumous nonexistence defined as
unsupplemented by any form of conscious survival (769), is an occurrence that harms us. Nagel s first
argument for why death is bad is that it deprives us of life, of which contains various goods that make
life valuable. Nagel supports his argument by saying that if he [the man] had not died, he would have
continued to live it, and to possess whatever good there is in living (772). He continues to list goods
such as perception, desire, activity and thought (769) as he believes that these are the essential
elements to a person meaningful life. Though Nagel concedes that the goods he listed entail both joy
and misery, as they are also fundamental factors of life, he also believes that a life which has more
misery than it does joy is still desirable and should not make death seem like a better option as it ends
the misery. His reasoning for this belief is that while a life may have more negative experiences than
positive experiences, it is still emphatically positive, (770) as the

Supernatural As Describe By Merriam Webster
Supernatural as describe by Merriam Webster is of or relating to an order of existence beyond the
visible observable universe; of or relating to God or a god, demigod, spirit, or devil departing from
what is usual or normal especially so as to appear to transcend the laws of nature: attributed to an
invisible agent (as a ghost or spirit). As for me, I am talking about Supernatural, a television show on
the CW channel that was created by Eric Kripke. Starting in 2005, Supernatural has had me
contemplated and in love with Sam and Dean Winchester. This show is based on religion coming from
old testament to new testament to other gods and religion proffer such as demons, angels, God,
Lucifer, Zeus, and many much more gods and mystical creatures. Although there is much to write on
this show, I have chosen to write on the two main characters and how they each fall in a sort of
religion aspect and will give a brief history on the show with their symbols, signs, Archangels, Angels
and Demons, and some other fun stuff of the show.
The adventure begins the night Mary was killed by the green eyed demon leaving John to raise Sam
and Dean. John did not understand why the demon went after his family, so he decided to go after the
demon and has been chasing it since 1983. 2005 that s where the show really begins when Dean goes

The Great Depression Fashion
During the 1930 s when the Great Depression took place, fewer people were sewing to make their
own clothing and it started to switch to clothes ready to wear when bought. Because of the stock
market crash, the clothing manufacturers had to look for ways to conserve money and still put out
product. They started going to cheaper materials to create clothing and cheaper ways to make the
clothing. Though not everyone was able to buy clothes and would just reuse material they had at
home. There were many hand me down clothing for the children and people would sew their old shirts
to make underwear. Farmers would use their big sacks of flour or the sacks of livestock food to re
create them into dresses for the girls. People during the depression were either making their own
clothes from old materials or if they had enough money the could go out and buy new clothes but were
made from cheaper material. The poor people during the depression wore very simple clothes that
were often their old clothes before the depression. If there was a problem with their clothes, they
would patch up their clothing with old socks or any material they could get their hands on. Even
though there was not a huge market for new clothing, there were still fashion designs that were
popular for those who can afford it. 1There were still fashion magazines being put out for women
during the depression and that s how people got their information on the latest fashions. The clothing
for women was simple and

Sociology of the Body Pierre Bourdieu coins the term habitus to explain the role of the body in class
reproductive dynamics. Summarize his position Introduction Pierre Bourdieu s account of class
reproductive dynamics stems from his belief that your habitus dictates how your body engages in the
reproductive dynamics of class theory. This notion of habitus has become central to the studies on
social inequality. Bourdieu and Structuralism Bourdieu is a typical example of a structuralist.

In other words, the habitus enables sociologists, more or less, to resolve the troublesome dichotomy
between subject/object and structure/agency. The habitus is rooted in the body and exists through the
practice of actors and their interactions with each other and their environment. It does not comprise
manifestations of social behaviour but is integral to that behaviour and a combination of the personal
and the systemic (Jenkins 1992: 74) (Butler Robson, 2003, p 37) The power of habitus derives from
the thoughtlessness of habit and habituation, rather than consciously learned rules and principles
(Jenkins, 1992, p76) Reproduction Theory The reproduction theory, started by the left Neo Marxist

inequality. Schools are perpetuated by capitalism, which leads to a meritocracy society. All of these
class structures and inequalities are produced by institutional systems like education, religion and
family. These internal workings of such institutions send the tacit message that people are in the place
they deserve in society. This can be compared to the far right, chain of thought Thatcherism, being

The Importance Of Commercial Space Exploration
Since the mid twentieth century, people have had a desire to explore different aspects of space. The
space race between the United States of America and Russia was the height of space exploration. Now
with modern interest in the colonization of Mars, the desire to explore space has, again, increased with
20 licensed launches in America in the 2017 calendar year according to the Federal Aviation
Administration ( Commercial Space Data ). Different countries still express interest in exploring
space, but commercial space exploration has become popular since the 2000 s. American
organizations have to adhere to regulations of the FAA, the government organization that provides
licenses and permits to enter into space. Many current pieces of legislation, which have solved
multiple previous issues, can still be further developed to improve commercial space exploration in
the future as Mars colonization becomes a more tangible goal. Robert Walker, a former member of the
United States House of Representatives, declared that many of the current space laws make it easier
for government to function in space (q.t.d Space Law ), but not companies that could revolutionize
commercial space travel. Current American laws on regulations, protection for companies, and what
people can do in space need to be altered in order for commercial space companies to reach Mars. To
engage in space exploration, commercial companies must receive a license from the FAA, which is
both an inconsistent

Notes On The Stock Market
Rookie stock market investors are those who only possess a relatively rudimentary knowledge and
experience of the investing sphere. Most of these individuals usually commence by sticking to a buy
and hold trading strategy. As a beginner, your general experience in investment trading is very limited.
This, for the most part, confines you to making no more than a couple of trades perhaps on a monthly
basis from a cash account. However, this does not necessary signify that you have not placed high
expectations on your stock market trading activities. You most likely are very interested in expanding
your knowledge as well as investment experience in order to realize the objectives you may have set.
This is all nice and good.

Beginners are normally successful during strong bull markets. But unfortunately find themselves
clueless when on tougher occasions, especially when market volatility is higher and bears happen to
rule. Well, if you deeply feel you fit this description to the T, here then are some stock market basics
for beginners, which could be useful.
Make it a point to set realistic trading objectives
Before you decide to make your very first investment, try to ask yourself the following questions. At
what point will you require the money you have invested? Will it be after 6 months, a year, 5 years or
perhaps much longer? , Are you trying to lay a nest egg for your sunset years? , Are seeking to obtain
the necessary funds to finance your college education or perhaps seeking money to buy a home? On
the other hand, do wish to establish an estate that you want to leave for your beneficiaries upon your
demise?
Whichever the case, prior to making any stock market investment, you ought to fully determine your
primary driving motivation. When you have ascertained this critical point, next consider the most
likely time in the future you might stand in need of the funds you wish to invest. Should you require
your investment back within just a couple of years, then it will be much better to consider another
investment channel. It is very important for you to fully understand that the stock market with its
volatility can

Protecting the Innocence; An Overview of The Catcher in the Rye During the nineteen fifties, as the
population of the United States hurdled in a whirlpool of amiss, a writer sought to conserve innocence
as teenagers move into adulthood. The change from their teenage years to adulthood made them
question religion, friendships, and fate. J. D. Salinger saw this as a potential pitfall for teens; therefore,
he adopts a unique writing style to which they can relate to. Sol and Miriam Salinger s son, Jerome
David Salinger, was born on January 1st, 1919 in New York ( Salinger ). Supported by her Jewish
husband, a successful meat and cheese importer, Miriam was able to raise Salinger and his two older
siblings in the fashionable apartment district of upper Manhattan (French). In 1934 Salinger attended
Valley Forge Military academy, where he grasped literature and began writing short stories (French).
In spite of later being drafted to be in the military during World War II, Salinger wrote numerous
works which inspired the lives of countless Americans. Through his use of point of view,
characterization, and symbolism, Salinger aims towards conserving teenagers innocence as they move
into adulthood in The Catcher in the Rye.

Catherine Fenton on January 25, 1627 in Lismore, Ireland. He was the youngest son of Richard Boyle,
the Earl of Cork, and he was born into a noble family. His father was very rich and had an abundant
amount of wealth due to his occupation of being a prestigious landowner. Additionally, his mother,
Catherine Fenton, was also associated with a wealthy family English family. During his early
childhood, Boyle was sent to live with a poor Irish family (Famous Scientists). Boyle s father had a
unique way to raise his children. He would send them to this family and he believed that through this
experience they would toughen up and mature more efficiently. He also ... Show more content on

He also left a very important implication on science today by showing the correct and efficient way of
how experimental science should be done. He conducted this by showing the importance of repeating
experiments and how they should be done carefully. He claimed that this would improve experimental
techniques. Many contemporary scientists abide by this rule to hold the greatest results they can get.
Many scientists use this effectively and don t take it for granted. Boyle was a very open minded
individual and he introduced a concept that dealt with the results gone wrong. He said, ... even when

The American Of The United States Army
As for the US Army, they had been given orders by which they had to abide which lacked defined
rules of engagement. This meant that they had to complete the mission, and their superiors did not
necessarily care if the natives were pleased or harmed with the outcomes. As far as they were
concerned, there was land that had not been claimed legally and they wanted it. This was a huge
change for the natives from when they had met Lewis and Clark on their journey exploring the
Louisiana Territory decades earlier because both parties involved were amicable and cooperative.
Even later when more white settlers came west and moved into lands the Indians once occupied, they
voluntarily moved onto reservations without major issues. This was accomplished fluidly because the
natives, unlike the white settlers, did not consider land to be owned by any person or group; land was
theirs to do with what they would, which was to survive and live rivers for water, animals for food,
and other natural resources to create their homes, clothes, and instruments. The Battle of Big Hole was
a demonstration of violence of action, and how rules of engagement have come to be created; the
natives would have easily sat down and discussed the matters encircling the massive amounts of land
available to them, but the settlers were misinformed and the government had a defense complex of
doing what needed to be done for their side, and not necessarily thinking about alternative options to
going in to battle

Childhood Sunglasses
Quality Sunglasses for Kids
Wearing glasses can be the ultimate fashion accessory when you choose the right pair to suit you and
the kind of clothes you wear most. Children may not be as interested as adults are in the fashion aspect
of sunglasses. But because kids spend much more time outdoors than most adults one of the most
important factors when to choosing sunglasses is protection. Being assured that one s eyes are
protected from the sun s ultra violet rays is essential. These rays can cause damage to the eyes and are
linked to many different types of eye disease, so they should be avoided at all costs through the use of
high quality kids sunglasses.
What s the perfect Sunglass Lens Color
It s always better to consult an optician, but as long as your optician certifies that the lenses block 100
percent of the sun s UV rays. The level of UV protection sunglasses provide has nothing to do with the
color of the lenses, but polar optic sunglasses are now popular nowadays, because it actually provides
a filtering system for glare. Any light reflecting off of a flat surface, such as a lake, creates an intense
glare produced by horizontal light wave patterns. These horizontal waves are blocked by polarized
lenses that help reduce the glare and resulting eyestrain. Polar eyes fit ... Show more content on

the University of North Florida in 2015, I worked for two healthcare systems; Flagler Hospital in St.

in healthcare as a child. My dreams ranged from being a Surgically Oncologist to a Dentist to a

drove my passion for this career choice. During college when a student sits in a lecture hall, the
classes can be enjoyable but can never amount to the first experience you get when your hands on in
the field. My first day stepping into the hospital I was welcomed by the CEO, Joe Gordy and COO,
Christopher Schmidt, I was given the ability to sit in on several committee meetings and watch as
everything I have learned over the previous four years was being put to use. This was an extremely
eye opening experience. My passion had grown, I had come to realize that this was where I wanted to
be. This was my future right before my eyes. I noticed that the Saint Joseph s University online Health
Administration curriculum is developed for the modern health care marketplace and delivered by
experts in the field. I was very excited to see this as I feel a modern approach to learning healthcare is
critical. I was taught by my internship preceptor that you must always stay up to date in healthcare as

Folk Hero Essay
A Folk hero in China Folk hero is almost in every country, and the story of the hero is often gives
some positive moral. Folk hero s stories are always popular at every age. However, the reason for me
to choose this topic is I wrote the same topic in another class about two years ago. This time I also
want to write this topic, but I have new ideas and new opinions during this two years. China has a
history of more than 5000 years even if there are many dynasties of change. During this 5000 years
there are lots of folk heroes appeared. Some of the heroes were deified gods, but most of them are real
people. For these heroes, people usually added lots of character or power to them. Because the
purpose of people is to spread these heroes stories and make people learn these heroes characters by
this. The character likes brave, loyal, clever and honest. And the stories have the similar part with
other countries folk hero which is the justice always prevail over evil. George R.R. Martin once said,
Most have been forgotten. Most deserve to be forgotten. The heroes will always be remembered. The
best. The best and the worst. And a few who were a bit of both. But lots of folk heroes are always
popular. We should remember heroes, because their stories can teach us much things, these things are
always very important for us. And there is a folk hero who I am really respects him in China history.

Analysis Of The Poem I Am Struck By The Irony Between...
At one hundred years young, my grandmother passed away. As the matriarch of our family, we felt
both saddened and relieved to see her go. She was an independent, educated, hardworking woman
who cherished her family and friends. Stories she shared about her youth and her numerous life
experiences supported me and guided me. Much of my personal identity formed in connection to her.
My grandmother s landscape, traditions, and identity lives on through me and my family. We, as
people, construct identities to both give life meaning and to make meaning of life.
Momaday makes meaning of his life and culture through the unique textual structure of The Way to
Rainy Mountain. While reading, I almost felt as if I was reading poetry versus a novel. The inclusion
of mythology makes the reading have a poetic tone. Within this beautifully constructed piece of
literature, I am struck by the irony between Momaday s connection to his grandmother and the Kiowa
treatment of women.
In the introduction to Momaday s piece of literature, he reveals a deep connection and reverence for
his grandmother, Aho. Momaday values her life and her memories because they give his life meaning
and help him construct his personal identity. He clearly expounded how, the immense landscape of the
continental interior [of Rainy Mountain] lay like a memory in her blood...[Momaday] wanted to see in
reality what she had seen more perfectly in the mind s eye (Momaday, 1969, p. 7). At this point, he is

For The Past Forty Years, Ohio Is Believed To Have Gone
For the past forty years, Ohio is believed to have gone through a process of deindustrialization. This
means that Ohio experienced a decline in manufacturing jobs. While this is a simple definition, the
origins of the term deindustrialization gives a deeper, more pejorative meaning to the term. This
darker meaning to the term is perhaps more effectively conveyed through the term rust belt. After
Ohio wen through the process of deindustrialization, the lack of industrial jobs in a once booming
industrial area left many factories empty and decommissioned. As these factories became older and
unused, their rusting facades became a symbol of the deindustrialization that Ohio experienced,
leading someone to coin the term rust belt for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term traces its roots back to World War II. The concept of deindustrialization began in Nazi
Germany. The Nazis described the areas that they had invaded in conquered in this way. This is
because they eliminated any industry from the areas that they took over, forcing these states to become
dependent upon Germany for economic and industrial development. This philosophy was also used as
a punishment for those countries, showing the power of Nazi Germany. After the end of the war, the
Allies began to use the term deindustrialization , as well. Essentially taking the definition from the
Nazis, they used this term in discussions of how to punish Nazi Germany in post war rebuilding plans.
Regardless of who was using the term in World War II, there was always a negative connotation
attached to it. Rather than simply saying that it meant a decline in manufacturing jobs for an area, the
term was used as a punishment and a show of power. In its origins, deindustrialization was used by the
winners of a conflict to describe how they would take away industry from the losing nation or state.
For this reason, it can be seen how the term developed a negative connotation. The term grew
tremendously in usage around the 1970s, when factories began to downsize what would become
known as the

Of Aristotle And Hobbes Ideas About The Origin And Purpose...
Aristotle and Hobbes Ideas about the Origin and Purpose of Political Life
From the very ancient times political life was formed by groups of people who were having different
thoughts and ideas about how to rule or how to control others and their properties. As long as that
happened, the differences had led to misunderstanding and chaos among the tribes and as now called
politics. Each political community formed, a different problem came to life. All this was a way to
undercover the best ways of ruling and leading others in places all around the world. The first place
that appeared to be like a political community was households. Then it turned to bigger and stronger
establishments that human being had never thought of before. One of the structures which was formed
and led to different notions was government, and it is the structure by which a country, ... Show more

theory of influencing and governing on other people on a global or individual level. Government is the

Prejudice And Ethnic Cleansing
Prejudice: a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience. Ethnic Cleansing:
an extreme version of acting on prejudices by the mass expulsion or killing of members of an
unwanted ethnic or religious group in a society. These two phrases have the power to change the
course of history and leave an unimaginable number hurt in its wake. The most well known example
of prejudice leading to ethnic cleansing is that of Nazi Germany and despite lack of coverage, has not
been the only one. On the contrary, there has been numerous account of prejudice and ethnic cleansing
in more countries including our own, in regards to the Japanese Internment. Thus, residents of the US
cannot express the ideology of its always them, not us from the small information learned in school. In
fact, these same phrases are still in effect today with the events transpiring in Darfur. It is a painful
trend of events that one could argue as being part of the human condition; Yet without proper
reflection of ourselves and the world who can say what is true for the human race.
Take a minute and think about the word Genocide. From this word only, many will provide the
example of Nazi Germany. From 1934 1945, the Nazi Party began a hunt for cleansing Germany of
the Jews, who were unjustly held responsible for why Germany hit hard times. Furthermore, the Jews

Warsaw Ghetto During The Holocaust
The Holocaust can be described as the prosecution and death of about six million Jews in Europe by
the Nazis between 1933 and 1945. Other ethnic groups like pygmies were destroyed as well. The
Holocaust started when Hitler became Chancellor in 1933 and passed decree/laws removing Jews as
citizens of the country. Overtime when the Nazis occupied majority of Europe, the Jews were forced
to move out of their homes to live in specific areas under harsh conditions which are also known as
ghettos and were later transferred to the death camps. The ghettos could be described as the Jewish
city districts in which the Jews were meant to live in order to be separated from the Non Jewish
population. One of the biggest types of ghettos was the Warsaw Ghetto in Poland where more than
400,000 Jews were crowded into an area of 1.3 square miles and were living in harsh conditions. This
was established On October 12 1940 after the decree the establishment of a ghetto in Warsaw. All
Jewish residents of Warsaw were supposed to move into a small area, which was eventually sealed by
the Nazis from the other citizens in November 1940. The ghetto was enclosed by a wall that was over
10 feet high, topped with barbed wire, and closely guarded to prevent movement between the ghetto
and the rest of Warsaw. The end of 1940 found Warsaw Jews confined to a 1.36 square mile area that
was surrounded by a 10 foot wall topped with barbed wire and broken glass. Within the ghetto there

Critique The purpose of an intake form is to get to know your possible client a little better. Intake

It is the minimum return a company needs to earn in order to satisfy its investor base (as weighted for
the amount of debt vs. equity in the target/capital structure), which is what the company must pay
investors to raise new financing to support new projects or ventures. WACC is particularly useful here
because Yeats has no debt, thus, it is an equity financed company. In the case of Yeats, the company
must have capital to continue to develop and market its new Widening Gyre Program.
The formula for WACC = Re (E/V) + Rd (D/V)(1 t)
However, because Yeats does not have debt, the second half of this formula, Rd(D/V)(1 t) is not
necessary. Being that Yeats has zero debt, the value of its equity is in full, which represents its
Enterprise Value. Tax (t) is determined in the case as 40% or .40 (p. 5).
We must then calculate the CAPM for the cost of equity (see Excel sheet for details):
Re = Rf + Beta (Rm Rf)
Re = Required Return on Equity
Rf = Risk Free Rate = 5.98 (p. 16)
Beta = Measure of Risk relative to the general market (volatility) = 1.5 (p. 5)
Rm Rf = Equity Market Risk Premium (EMRP) = 5.5 (p. 16)
Rm = Market Risk
Rf = Risk Free Assets (U.S. treasury security)
With Beta at 1, the stock price changes in precise tandem with the market, but with Yeat s beta at 1.5,
it is more risky than a group of peer stocks.
Thus,
Re = Rf + Beta (Rm Rf)
Re = 5.98 + 1.5 x 5.5
Re = 14.23%, the cost of equity at for Yeats
Then calculate
WACC = Re

The Bible Vs. Bible
In our society today, we can see many bible verses being talked about, being referred to, being
preached about, but what in reality does that all mean? Many of us use and interpret different verses in
the bible to give someone else a bit of hope and love, a bit of knowledge about Jesus Christ or even to
give ourself a boost of confidence and hope in our own personal life. For example, when I personally
am down or I feel overwhelmed with certain situations in life going on and I talk to my mother or
grandmother or even a close friend, they tell me to read certain passages in the bible. Why? Because
reading the bible gives hope, gives happiness, gives a sense of love and understanding. Something that
no one but God can give us. Reading the bible, reading verses in the bible help connect and form a
relationship with the Lord. It helps give understanding to what in reality God has in store for his
followers, for his children. Out of all the little slips of paper in the small basket passed around in class,
I chose the verses Joel 2:30 31 which state I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood
and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the
coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. (Joel 2:30 31 NIV) When I first read the verse, my
initial thoughts were all over the place. This verse could potentially be talking about the coming of the
Lord, but was it a warning or a forward flash of what is to come?

performance. Then we will look at key factors to estimate the UPS¡¦s market capitalization value using
FedEx¡¦s multiples as well as ¡§best in breed¡¨ company premiums. From this, we concluded that
UPS¡¦s IPO should create a market capitalization for UPS between $17,520 million and $30,415

Also UPS¡¦s decision to operate their ground and express business as one integrated company sharing
the same trucks and sorting centers gave UPS advantage over FedEx. UPS is likely to sustain the
current performance since ground delivery business, which has been growing at a slower rate than
express business is expected to grow faster mainly due to the expansion of Internet shopping which
would provide a boost for the B2C ground business. FedEx has not fared as well as UPS in financial
performances. FedEx¡¦s total revenue has grown 60% from 1996 to 1999 while their net income has
doubled in the same period. FedEx¡¦s acquisition of RPS will challenge UPS for the ground delivery
business and affect the sustainability of UPS¡¦s advantage in the ground deliver business. FedEx has
been competing well in the higher end, high service segment of the package delivery market.
Although, digitations of documents and emergence of electronic signatures is threatening the express

Throughout the article Rod articulated his viewpoints on the variety of philosophies involved in
legitimizing the science of marketing research and sought to establish his own perspective of what he
actually believes marketing research should accomplish. This was stated in his thesis statement that:
Rather than argue one particular perspective, it is this paper s central thesis that no one philosophical
perspective does or should have a monopoly on what makes a useful contribution to our understanding
of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To further balance his commentary, Rod also looked at the unpopular aspect of the philosophy of
science in marketing, the philosophies that dictate how market research should be conducted to make
a real contribution to society. In quoting Frank Bass on his editorial comment to put it all together
Gains in fundamental knowledge have been substantial, but, more importantly, what has transpired has
been the development of a system for further development of science in marketing (p. 124.)
Whilst Rod continued in his literature review to explore further philosophies,
Critique
Rod s conceptual paper on Marketing: the philosophy of science and epistobabble warfare was not an
easy paper that one could read and understand on the first go. If the topic is not within the subject area
of the reader, then the article further becomes an epistobabble full of isims and schisms that one would
have to ponder on for days.
There is no denying that the reader had to do additional research to fully comprehend Rod s
commentary on the philosophical perspectives involved in conducting a market research.
Nevertheless, by stating his background in medicine where research was/is conducted with less
philosophical debates, save ethical ones the transition for Rod to an area with documented
philosophies in search of truths was a transition for him.
Who is the author of this journal entry? It was interesting to note that Professor Michel Rod is an
associate professor

What Does Alliteration In True Night Mean
True Night by Gary Snyder
In the poem True Night by the modernist and jollity poet Gary Snyder, shows an amount of poetic
devices that allow one to see the modernism values. Alliteration and Onomatopoeia are some poetic
devices the reader can notice within the text. Modernism in the 20th century, the British public was
faced with a series of events that shook the world. Because of Britain s colonial past, many writers
have had the advantage and confusion of a double heritage. Writers from Ireland, Africa, and other
former British holdings all over the world have struggled to maintain a sense of their own culture and
traditions after being engulfed in those of the British. Gary Snyder the first of two, right after
graduating high school, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

head gone to seed and about to be blown away (Lns 45 47). This justifies that simile is displayed in
(Lns 5 6) and (Lns 45 47), as he describes the mind to a fish and himself as a dandelion. In lines 5 6
Gary mentions that the mind finally rises up to a fact like a fish to a hook, which means that as he was
still asleep, he finally takes the bait and gets up because of all the awful noise in the kitchen just how a
fish swims towards the bait and ends up getting tricked. In lines 45 47 he mentions himself as a
dandelion about to be blown away, which means that as he was walking back into the path, heading
back to bed. As he observes the beautiful outdoors he felt this breeze. At that moment, he felt almost
ready to dissolve into the night. Gary shows mental state by a figure of speech involving the
comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, used to make a description more

Epidamnus Mistaken Identity
In a play about mistaken identity, the characters are the main focus. The characters of the
Menaechmus twins are at the core of the story. They are introduced as having very different
personality traits despite their identical appearances; Menaechmus of Epidamnus is described as
normally gay, an inveterate jokester, and always out for a good time (Act I), while Menaechmus of
Syracuse is shrewd, calculation, and cynical (Act II). In this way, the twins serve as foils for each
other. However, on this particular day, due to his irritating wife, the twin from Epidamnus is in a fowl
mood, matching him to his brother s mood, which the people of Epidamnus experienced during their
encounters on that day. It is also Menaechmus of Epidamnus joking manner that allows for the
mistake the occur. When the twin from Syracuse adamantly states that he has never stepped foot in
Epidamnus before and is not familiar with anyone or what they say he has done, they believe it to just
be good old Menaechmus playing a joke on them, as he always does. The twins also appear to share
some of each other s traits. Though Menaechmus of Epidamnus is said ... Show more content on

Because of his insistence that the citizens of Epidamnus are all crooks and that a plot was conspired to
take advantage as soon as they arrived off the ship, Menaechmus of Syracuse accepts this explanation
as to why everyone knows his name and speaks of a life he is supposedly living with them. This
allows for the action of the play to continue, instead of Menaechmus of Syracuse coming to the early
conclusion that the people in the town must know of someone who looks identical to him and shares
his name, i.e. his long lost twin whom he is in Epidamnus searching for and was talking about only
minutes earlier. It is also Messanio who finally puts it all together, realizing the case of mistaken
identity that has occurred and reunites the Menaechmus

  • 4. The Global Issue Of The Industrial Revolution The industrial revolution known for many things including the peak point where human population hit one billion. It took humans 130 years to hit two billion and as time moved on it took less and less time, the fifth billion only took 13 years to accomplish (Worldometers). It may have started as a great thing in the industrial revolution but now in the twenty first century population has become a global issue. A global issue can be identified because it is not only affecting the whole human race, but also global in the sense that it affects the whole world. War and conflict, poverty, high cost of living, degradation of the environment, depletion of natural resources, and unemployment all caused by the ever growing human population. William Halal and Michael Marien identified, what is known as the Mega Crisis, A global environmental and economic collapse or near collapse, along with attendant problems of rising prices, mass protests, wide spread psychic stress, and lawlessness. (Halal and Marien. 2011) and although I admire the work of these authors one aspect that they tend overlook is the connecting link between all trends leading to the Megacrisis, overpopulation. Over population is when the number of living humans is compared to the available resources, such as water and the essentials they need to survive. Sport And The American Dream Analysis Tennis, A Step to a Women s Athleticism Awareness Tennis is a sport that might not catch people s interest on TV, but it surely is a sport that people admire and love to play. The one reason why it might be very admirable would probably be because it is not inclusive to any race, ethnicity, or culture. If you look at the tennis players that are involved in the game, their backgrounds are not very similar to other tennis players. Unlike basketball, you would notice that it is dominated by African Americans. Despite that, one of the negative attributes of tennis is the dominance of males. Tennis is a game that is open to everyone; however, there are gender differences that affect the women players. Women don t get paid the same as men, men s finals attracts more attention and is awaited for more than women s finals, also the men tend to get more opportunities outside of tennis (commercials). Rural and urban areas have different ways of producing and obtaining their food characterized by the landscape and the lifestyle of the people. • 7. Film Analysis Of The Movie Kingsm The Secret Service The movie Kingsman: The Secret Service is a thriller and action packed movie revolving around Kingsman a spy agency which for decades has been in action undercover to save the mankind from its enemies. The theme of the film revolves around the triumph of good over evil and how the good side eventually wins, diminishing the evil. The movie evokes a feeling of thrill and anticipation through the mise en scene it has to offer. Mise en scene is the information that the film provides through the medium of vision. Mise en scene plays an important role in this movie as a lot of visual effects are used in the film to show a technologically advanced world filled with high tech gadgets, weapons, and systems. The movie takes place in multiple locations be it Kentucky, London, Argentina or more. The audiences are introduced to these locations before each scene through extremely long establishing shots with the name of the geographical location appearing on the side. As most of the scenes are taking place indoors this introduction of the geographical location provides an in depth of the diegesis to the audiences. It also helps in the creation of space as closed indoor spaces cannot convey their locations according to the need of the story, whether they are actually shot there or not. The movie starts off with a fight sequence in the Middle East, making the subject of the film clear and thus preparing them for the violence that is yet to come. The movie has two crucial characters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Color as Metaphor in Film What Dreams May Come Looking at landscape art, especially when painted by one of the masters, many have undoubtedly pondered: what would it be like to live there? Shapes and attention to detail are, of course, important in a painting. However, it is color that draws the eye and inspires the heart. Oscar Wilde, an Irish poet and dramatist, spoke well of this when he noted that, Mere color, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways. (qtd in color ) . Vincent Ward had a similar understanding of this impact when, in 1998, he directed the movie What Dreams May Come. Using this deeper shade highlights the intensity of her loss and confusion without over powering the scene. As the days and weeks pass by, Annie tries to return to a normal life. However, with the other half of her soul gone, she finds this to daunting of a task. Sitting at her vanity, wearing a very pale lavender gown, she chooses to end her life. She places several crushed pills into a bowl of pudding, and after eating it, she waits to die. The lightness of purple used here shows that it is not her will that is weak; it is the weakness of her connection with Chris that drives her to make this fatal choice. After learning of Annie s suicide and the self induced hell she will face, Chris makes the decision to enter hell, find Annie, and return with her to heaven. By using their connection as a sort of homing device, Chris descends ever deeper in to the pit of despair. He finds himself falling through an actual sea of faces where, after landing on the floor of hell s basement, locates what looks like a dilapidated version of his and Annie s house. Everything that can be seen in this purgatory looks as if the color has been drained by a leech. • 11. Thomas Nagel s Theory Of Death Essay In this paper, I will first elaborate on my understanding of Thomas Nagel s theory as to why death, a permanent nonexistent state, is an undesirable state of being. I will then argue as to why I believe that death is a misfortune using the argument that death terminates the positive experience of life as well as rebut the counter argument for why death is good because it gives meaning to life. Nagel champions the belief that death, a state of permanent posthumous nonexistence defined as unsupplemented by any form of conscious survival (769), is an occurrence that harms us. Nagel s first argument for why death is bad is that it deprives us of life, of which contains various goods that make life valuable. Nagel supports his argument by saying that if he [the man] had not died, he would have continued to live it, and to possess whatever good there is in living (772). He continues to list goods such as perception, desire, activity and thought (769) as he believes that these are the essential elements to a person meaningful life. Though Nagel concedes that the goods he listed entail both joy and misery, as they are also fundamental factors of life, he also believes that a life which has more misery than it does joy is still desirable and should not make death seem like a better option as it ends the misery. His reasoning for this belief is that while a life may have more negative experiences than positive experiences, it is still emphatically positive, (770) as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They started going to cheaper materials to create clothing and cheaper ways to make the clothing. Though not everyone was able to buy clothes and would just reuse material they had at home. There were many hand me down clothing for the children and people would sew their old shirts to make underwear. Farmers would use their big sacks of flour or the sacks of livestock food to re create them into dresses for the girls. People during the depression were either making their own clothes from old materials or if they had enough money the could go out and buy new clothes but were made from cheaper material. The poor people during the depression wore very simple clothes that were often their old clothes before the depression. If there was a problem with their clothes, they would patch up their clothing with old socks or any material they could get their hands on. Even though there was not a huge market for new clothing, there were still fashion designs that were popular for those who can afford it. 1There were still fashion magazines being put out for women during the depression and that s how people got their information on the latest fashions. Other ethnic groups like pygmies were destroyed as well. The Holocaust started when Hitler became Chancellor in 1933 and passed decree/laws removing Jews as citizens of the country. Overtime when the Nazis occupied majority of Europe, the Jews were forced to move out of their homes to live in specific areas under harsh conditions which are also known as ghettos and were later transferred to the death camps. The ghettos could be described as the Jewish city districts in which the Jews were meant to live in order to be separated from the Non Jewish population. One of the biggest types of ghettos was the Warsaw Ghetto in Poland where more than 400,000 Jews were crowded into an area of 1.3 square miles and were living in harsh conditions. This was established On October 12 1940 after the decree the establishment of a ghetto in Warsaw. The ghetto was enclosed by a wall that was over 10 feet high, topped with barbed wire, and closely guarded to prevent movement between the ghetto and the rest of Warsaw. It is the minimum return a company needs to earn in order to satisfy its investor base (as weighted for the amount of debt vs. equity in the target/capital structure), which is what the company must pay investors to raise new financing to support new projects or ventures. WACC is particularly useful here because Yeats has no debt, thus, it is an equity financed company. In the case of Yeats, the company must have capital to continue to develop and market its new Widening Gyre Program. The formula for WACC = Re (E/V) + Rd (D/V)(1 t) However, because Yeats does not have debt, the second half of this formula, Rd(D/V)(1 t) is not necessary. Being that Yeats has zero debt, the value of its equity is in full, which represents its Enterprise Value. Tax (t) is determined in the case as 40% or .40 (p. 5). We must then calculate the CAPM for the cost of equity (see Excel sheet for details): Re = Rf + Beta (Rm Rf) Re = Required Return on Equity Rf = Risk Free Rate = 5.98 (p. 16) Beta = Measure of Risk relative to the general market (volatility) = 1.5 (p. 5) Rm Rf = Equity Market Risk Premium (EMRP) = 5.5 (p. 16) Rm = Market Risk Rf = Risk Free Assets (U.S. treasury security) With Beta at 1, the stock price changes in precise tandem with the market, but with Yeat s beta at 1.5, it is more risky than a group of peer stocks.

  • 40. The Bible Vs. Bible In our society today, we can see many bible verses being talked about, being referred to, being preached about, but what in reality does that all mean? Many of us use and interpret different verses in the bible to give someone else a bit of hope and love, a bit of knowledge about Jesus Christ or even to give ourself a boost of confidence and hope in our own personal life. For example, when I personally am down or I feel overwhelmed with certain situations in life going on and I talk to my mother or grandmother or even a close friend, they tell me to read certain passages in the bible. Why? Because reading the bible gives hope, gives happiness, gives a sense of love and understanding. Something that no one but God can give us. Reading the bible, reading verses in the bible help connect and form a relationship with the Lord. It helps give understanding to what in reality God has in store for his followers, for his children. Out of all the little slips of paper in the small basket passed around in class, I chose the verses Joel 2:30 31 which state I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. FedEx has not fared as well as UPS in financial performances. FedEx¡¦s total revenue has grown 60% from 1996 to 1999 while their net income has doubled in the same period. Throughout the article Rod articulated his viewpoints on the variety of philosophies involved in legitimizing the science of marketing research and sought to establish his own perspective of what he actually believes marketing research should accomplish. To further balance his commentary, Rod also looked at the unpopular aspect of the philosophy of science in marketing, the philosophies that dictate how market research should be conducted to make a real contribution to society. In quoting Frank Bass on his editorial comment to put it all together Gains in fundamental knowledge have been substantial, but, more importantly, what has transpired has been the development of a system for further development of science in marketing (p. 124.) Whilst Rod continued in his literature review to explore further philosophies, Critique Rod s conceptual paper on Marketing: the philosophy of science and epistobabble warfare was not an easy paper that one could read and understand on the first go. If the topic is not within the subject area of the reader, then the article further becomes an epistobabble full of isims and schisms that one would have to ponder on for days. There is no denying that the reader had to do additional research to fully comprehend Rod s commentary on the philosophical perspectives involved in conducting a market research. Nevertheless, by stating his background in medicine where research was/is conducted with less philosophical debates, save ethical ones the transition for Rod to an area with documented philosophies in search of truths was a transition for him.
