Crisis Response Time for American Red Cross Essay
(1)
Since the writing of this case, the American Red Cross (ARC) is on record as having conceptually
addressed its infrastructure and operational hurdles. However, very few strides have been made to
reverse stakeholder perception crisis response time, relief dispatch strategies, and the ethical dilemmas
plaguing the organization. Governmental mandates that streamlined the board and that established
accounting /reporting parameters have done little to modify the organizations operational culture.
Since 2002, the organization has had seven CEO s. This high turnover has prompted concern from
stakeholders and government officials. Records indicate the organization now has approximately
35,000 employees and its volunteer pools still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These re occurring incidents have shaken the confidence of stakeholders and have begun to have an
adverse impact on donor perceptions of the integrity and validity of the efforts promoted by ARC
(Welch, 2012).
In March 2012, local leaders and the United Way demanded answers from Red Cross Panhandle
Chapter regarding the distribution of $282K that was raised from wildfire relief donations. These
funds were raised in 2010 and by the time the inquiries began many of the 2010 ARC staff in this
chapter had been replaced under the government restructure. As such, new staff found itself in a
quandary as it sought to address the questions and accusations being hurled (Welch, 2012). The
tangible numbers that were eventually conveyed indicated that of the $282k raised, $119k was
actually given to victims and $60K was used to restock inventories. This account still left $103K
unaccounted for. The next speculation that surfaced was revolved around why the funds were not
distributed for the purpose for which it was collected? A spokesperson for the local ARC chapter
communicated that, personally, he [did] not like this [situation] and he acknowledged the top two
previous chapter officials made errors. It was noted that these same two officials left the company in
May of 2011 for what ARC labeled as personal reasons . In response to the local chapter s inability to
provide acceptable disclosures regarding how funds were

Essay on Quentin Tarentino
Quentin Tarentino
Throughout the many years the film industry has grown, a certain type of filmmaker immerged,
known as an auteur. An auteur, usually a director, has a strong personal style and exercises creative
control over his or her works. Quentin Tarentino, for example, has proven himself to be an auteur in
various ways. Quentin Tarentino worked for four years as a clerk in a Los Angeles video store, where
he made his feature directorial and screenwriting debut of Reservoir Dogs, and where he further
expanded his great knowledge of film. Tarentino s personal style incorporates a lot of well thought out
violence, swearing, repetitive casting, and many other filming techniques. In looking at Reservoir
Dogs, Jackie Brown, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last very brutal scene of the movie is when the whole crew of gangsters hold guns that are pointed
at each other for the sake of Mr. Orange s life. Eventually, the whole gang ends up dying, even Mr.
Orange. When he confesses to being a cop Mr. White puts a bullet in his head and is instantly killed by
the police officers that came in for the bust. All this violence portrays many things about the film and
about what Tarentino is trying to suggest. He manifests these gangster characters with such disregard
to living, going to jail, and swearing simply to show the audience how he believes criminals act.
Quentin therefore tries to present a criminal lifestyle as it most likely is, not worth it. He suggests that
a life of crime and violence leads to dead ends such as jail, death, or predicaments such as having an
informant on a well planned out diamond heist. Quentin Tarentino uses tracking shots that also leave
his mark on the movies he directs. For instance, when Mr. Blonde starts to lead his fellow criminals
out to the car to look at the cop he has captured. The camera begins to follow the group out to the car
from their backsides, and then opens up to the outside of the warehouse, from dark to light. This
shows the criminals containment in the warehouse; in a way trapped from leaving. When they arrive
to the car, the camera shows the criminals from a low angle. This represents their power over the cop,
and the feelings they hold for their superiority over law, when

Irony In How Stories Came To Earth
Some tricks take place simply for fun or to mess with an individual, but others require more thought in
order to achieve a great reward. Regardless of the intentions, playing tricks are not nice because no
one enjoys being fooled. In one of three trickster tales titled, How Stories Came to Earth, retold by
Kaleki, a spider named Kwaku Anansi tricks four different creature, in order to receive stories from
the sky god, Nyame. In another tale, Coyote Steals Fire retold by Richard Erdoes and Alfonso Ortiz, a
coyote tricks a god like person named Thunder into giving up his rock of fire. In the final story,
Master Cat: Puss in Boots, written by Charles Perrault, the cat tricks the king and his daughter into
believing that the cat s master ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One method of trickery, in the story, is cheating. Coyote cheats during the game of dice, which he
plays with his uncle, Thunder. The narrator better explains Coyote s system of cheating when the text
reads, Now, Coyote is the trickiest fellow alive. He is the master at cheating at all kinds of
games....Thunder was no match for Coyote when it came to cheating (Erdoes and Ortiz 45). Coyote
purposely makes Thunder lose so that he can win and receive the fire. Coyote also tricks Thunder
when he distracts him during their intense game of dice. Coyote makes Thunder blink so that Coyote
can switch the dice around without Thunder seeing. The story clearly explains this process of trickery
by saying, He distracted Thunder and made him blink. Then, quick as a flash, he took a counting stick
away from Thunder s pile and added it to his own (Erdoes and Ortiz 45). Coyote messes with the
score, so that by the end of the game Thunder is losing by a significant amount. The last way Coyote
tricks Thunder occurs when, Coyote sheds the outer part of his body, and runs away with his vital
organs. Thunder believes that Coyote is lying on the ground, so he throws the rock of fire at his outer
body, but obviously it does no harm to Coyote. The narrator describes the trick by saying, Coyote
could pull the outer part of his body off....Thunder picked up the huge rock containing fire and hurled
it at what he thought was Coyote (Erdoes and Ortiz). Thunder believes he kills Coyote, when he
simply gives Coyote the prize he longs for the whole time. Similar to Anansi, Coyote accomplishes his
goal of stealing the fire away from Thunder by using various methods

How Wrestling Has Changed My Life
Wrestling has and always will be a big part of my life, that s not to say I have had a pleasant nor a fair
time on the wrestling mat, but I guess life s not fair. I have always enjoyed wrestling from the first
time I stepped foot on a mat in kindergarten in my singlet that was 2 sizes too big, from the last time
leaving the mat as a junior in high school limping off the mat in some of the worst pain I ve ever felt
in my life. It s been in my family for as long as I can remember. My uncle has not missed being mat
side, yelling for his favorite wrestlers at the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament in 20 years. My
cousin wrestled for Iowa State University before coming back to his hometown in Mankato and
suffering a career ending injury as well. My time on the mat was not always that of heart break. Going
through elementary I never had a losing season, let alone a season where I lost more than five
matches. In fifth and sixth grade I took place in NYWA and Gopher State. Gopher State is a
tournament for the top wrestlers in Minnesota and all the states surrounding it. That was some of the
hardest wrestling I have ever encountered. I placed in the top six at NYWA and not placing at Gopher
state unfortunately. The summer before my junior year I went to multiple wrestling camps costing
thousands of dollars and lasting weeks in time. And when it came time to vote for captains I just knew
I was going to get it. The night before the coach told us who was going to be awarded captain

The First Sfx Entertainment Was Formed By Robert F. X
History The first SFX Entertainment was formed by Robert F. X. Sillerman in the 1990s. Its business
model surrounded the acquisition and consolidation of regional concert promoters into a single
national entity. In 2000, Sillerman sold the company to the radio broadcasting company Clear Channel
Communications for $4.4 billion USD, which spun off in 2005 to form Live Nation, and merged with
Ticketmaster in 2009 to form Live Nation Entertainment. In June 2012, Sillerman publicized his intent
to focus on the growing electronic dance music market by reviving the SFX brand to form a new
conglomerate in the electronic music industry. Similarly to the past incarnation of SFX, the company s
business model focuses on the consolidation and acquisition of independent EDM promoters, along
with an additional focus on providing digital platforms for fans to connect. Sillerman expected to
spend close to $1 billion on acquisitions within the first year of operations alone. In June 2013, SFX
announced an IPO and began trading on the NASDAQ. Following its IPO, SFX also acquired
companies more digital properties and promoters, but the stock price kept going down due to the lack
of income. On February, 2015, Sillerman announced a proposal to buy out SFX s public stock at $4.75
per share to take the company private, and support exploring a potential sale. By August 2015, the
value of SFX stock had decreased considerably, going as low as 91 cents per share. On August 14,

Noah s Piety In The Play
In the York Corpus Christi Plays, many of the characters are so over top, so remarkably buffoonish
that those characters are ultimately quite comedic in effect. To a modern audience, a comedic biblical
character may seem blasphemous it may seem morally wrong to laugh at Jesus s executioners as they
struggle to crucify Christianity s most important figure. However, when examining exactly how those
characters function in the play, the comedic nature of those characters may not be wholly blasphemous
in effect. For example, do those comedic executioners only make the audience laugh at Jesus s
crucifixion, or do they emphasize Jesus s calm and solemn nature? Similarly, plays about Noah s ark
and the great flood include comedic characters, yet those plays do not feel totally blasphemous.
Instead, the inclusion of a variety of characters in these plays seems more nuanced. In the York Corpus
Christi Play The Building of the Ark, Noah s piety is established through his undying trust in God and
his general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout his encounter with God, Noah does not question God s intentions or his plan. The only
thing Noah questions is his own ability to perform such great actions (which is, again, related to his
pious humility), never God s general plan. God explains to him his plan, and Noah ends the play by
telling God that he will go and fulfill God s wishes: Abowte this werke now bus me wende, (PAGE #,
l. 148). Not only is Noah humble, he is also obedient and trusts in his God. In attributing Noah s piety
to humility, trust in God, obedience, and gratitude, The Building of the Ark subsequently praises these
attributes and establishes them as virtues. Thus, the play not only categorizes Noah as pious (and
explains what exactly makes him a pious character), the play also makes the public aware of how one
can become pious like

Technological Approaches For Dementia Patients
Technological Approaches to Care of Dementia Patients
Dementia describes a decline in mental ability. Alzheimer disease, which damages brain cells, is the
major cause of dementia. It is estimated that around 850,000 people in UK developed dementia in
2015. The risks of developing dementia will increase by the comprehensive contributions of aging,
risk genes, and unhealthy lifestyles. However, the medical treatments fails to cure dementia effectively
for the mechanics of how dementia is developed is too complicated to identify. Therefore, present
research on dementia treatments mainly concentrates on technological devices to help people with
dementia. In this report, three technological approaches (the early diagnosis in preventing people from
dementia, infrared movement sensors to help taking care of people with dementia, and integrated
smart house are introduced and the limitations future implications of these technologies are discussed.
By using Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), a technique for measuring brain activity,
dementia can be spotted early and therefore being prevented. The patient will firstly be put on a
electroencephalography (EEG) cap, which records electrical activities (representing brain activities) of
the brain, and then lie in the fMRI machine. To observe the condition of patients brain, pictures of
celebrities will be shown inside fMRI machine and active different brain areas. The image of the brain
areas will be captured and used for

According to the EMDR Institute, Inc., EMDR therapy consists of: Eye movements (or other bilateral
stimulation) are used during one part of the session. After the clinician has determined which memory
to target first, he asks the client to hold different aspects of that event or thought in mind and to use his
eyes to track the therapist s hand as it moves back and forth across the client s field of vision. As this
happens, for reasons believed by a Harvard researcher to be connected with the biological mechanisms
involved in Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, internal associations arise and the clients begin to
process the memory and disturbing feelings. In successful EMDR therapy, the meaning of painful
events is transformed on an emotional level ( What is EMDR? 2017). At the completion of the study,
de Roos et al. reported that of the nine participants that completed the treatment, four participants
reported a decrease in pain intensity, four participants reported being pain free, and one participant
reported no improvement in pain, with an overall significant decrease in mean pain scores compared
to before the treatment (P=0.00) (de Roos et al., 2010, p. 68). A long term follow up was completed at

Comparison Of Robespierre And The French Revolution
In a time when France was fighting for natural rights and a separation from totalitarian rulers,
Maximilien Robespierre and the Committee for Public Safety believed the best way to advance their
goal was to temporarily enact the exact opposite of everything they were trying to achieve to allow the
country to recover from inner conflict. During a point when France was in a crisis transitioning from
monarchy, the Committee for Public Safety, led by Robespierre, took control of the executive
government. The period of Robespierre s rule has been given the nickname the Reign of Terror from
rampant oppression, tyranny, and death in France throughout the period. The actions of the
government during the Terror opposed almost everything that the ... Show more content on

One of the most prominent details of the Terror is the fact that thousands of people were sent to the
guillotine during this time period. Many of these unfortunate souls had done nothing wrong outside of
voicing their opinions. However, if Robespierre and the French government got word of this person s
actions and deemed their thoughts even just a little too radical or counter revolutionary, they were
executed. One of the most critical tenets of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution was the
freedom to voice one s opinion and not be punished or silenced by authority. This idea is echoed in the
tenth and eleventh articles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man, which state that freedom of
speech, the press, religion, etc. and the freedom to express one s opinions openly are among the most
important natural rights of men, and that those using this right should not be silenced so long as their
views aren t disrupting the order of society. However, while Robespierre doesn t address these actions
directly in his Report on the Principles of Political Morality, he portrays the government s harsh
actions on anyone who would hinder or abandon the revolutionary cause as justice. While Robespierre
may have been looking at his actions through rose tinted glasses, the massacre of thousands of people
for simply sharing their beliefs clearly went against key principles of the Declaration of the Rights of
Man, the Enlightenment, and the French Revolution. The arrest of suspected individuals and execution
of those voicing their opinions are clear violations of man s natural rights, but even the nature of
Robespierre s rule alone could be seen as a breach of the National Assembly s view on man and
society just years

Queen Elizabeth
Elizabeth I, born 1533, 1558 she started to rule England and Ireland until her death 1603. Elizabeth I
had nicknames like Gloriana, The Virgin Queen or Good Queen Bess. Her parents were Henrik VIII of
England and his wife Anne Boleyn. But Anne was executed two and a half year after the birth of
Elizabeth I so Elizabeth was declared as an illegitimate, resulting in that Elizabeth was not allowed to
take the throne. Both of her half siblings died early resulting in that Elizabeth anyways got the throne

than the Spanish ones, resulting in that the English ships could easily keep out of range from the

fighting and sailing, the Spanish ships started to wear down. Food and water was almost consumed.
The Spanish fleet plotted to sail west across Ireland and the west side of Scotland but they had
absolutely no idea about the Gulf Stream that drew the ships north of Ireland and Scotland instead.
The Spanish Armada lost a lot of ships at Lee Shore, a location at the west side of Ireland with a lot of
cliffs and mountains. After the war the English fleet lost 50 100 men and 400 wounded. They lost no
ships either. And the Spanish people lost a lot more...
The British Empire
After the victory against the Spanish armada, England now officially had the strongest fleet in Europe.
After Elizabeth I s death 1603, they had issues with France, leading in colonizing. Due on economic

Develop Budget Plan which incorporates: labour costs, equipment/resources, materials, administration
costs, and contingency costs. Define Quality Plan with the following parameters: identify customer
requirements and deliverables, define criteria for the deliverables, outline considered constraints and
gain approval from all stakeholders. A risk management strategy will be created which will identify
and categorise risks around the project, determine the possibility of risks occurring, and identify the
impact for the project outcome. Stage 3: Execution: tasks that have been defined within the Project
Plan will commence. Record keeping and regular status updates will commence, regular quality and
achieved deliverables updates will be communicated to stakeholders. Staff will be allocated to resolve
and monitor issues and processes. Project completion criteria should be met and deliverables achieved.
Stage 4: Closure Changes implemented into organisation. All documentation pertinent to the project
will be completed and handed over to stakeholders for sign off. Project Closure report submitted.
Reviews and evaluation of project finalised. Benefits are assessed and lessons for future applications
are logged. Explain why is necessary to identify the stakeholders who might be involved or affected
by the project? Involved stakeholders have an interest in the outcome of the project. Their support can
be critical to the progress and outcome of the project.

Colombia Social Structure
The country of Colombia, officially referred to as the Republic of Colombia, is situated in the
northwest quadrant on the continent of South America, boarding the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean
Sea. The area now known as the Republic of Colombia was settled as a Spanish colony in 1525. The
Spaniard s established Bogota as their capital city and it remains the capital today. Colombia rebelled
and proclaimed their independence from Spain in 1819.
Colombia is the fourth largest country in South America in terms of land mass. It is the third most

upper class is referred to as the oligarchy which means a small group of people who have the majority
of control. The oligarchy consumes and seizes the top political positions, financial control and the best
educational opportunities. The upper class has also been known to inherit leadership positions within
the military structure based solely on their social status. Entry into this group is not by aptitude it is
primarily achieved by heritage and family name. In the past few years, the traditional elite of the upper
class has experienced a decline in numbers due to a loss of inherited money, splits among estates and
economic troubles. As the lineage elite dwindle they are being replaced by a new upper class of
entrepreneurs and business people who have become very successful. The new members are not held
in the same esteem in Colombian culture as they lack the family name stature of the older elite

Effects Of Greenhouse Emissions On The Planet s Climate
I. Introductory Paragraph A. An overwhelming amount of evidence points to the fact that mankind s
actions, specifically the emission of greenhouse gasses are having drastic effects on the planet s
climate. B. In America, Industry, in general is responsible for twenty percent of all greenhouse
emissions C. However, many people believe that this number can be greatly reduced by implementing
cap and trade on carbon emissions. D. Some people believe that cap and trade is the most
environmentally and economically sensible approach to controlling greenhouse gas emissions. The
cap sets a limit on greenhouse emissions that a company can release. This cap is lowered over time to
reduce emissions. Then the trade allows companies to trade their emissions. So for example if
company A has very low emissions compared to company B who has high emissions. Company A can
trade Company B the emissions that they have not used up. This essentially would create a market for
emissions while at the same time lowering emissions. This system would allow industry leaders to
plan for a future that is sustainable without hurting their profit margin too much and the amount of
emissions released could not be monitored. E. Implementing cap and trade would reap many
environmental benefits however there is an opposition that would like to resist cap and trade, as they
believe it would hinder business.

Vygotsky To Assist Rad In Learning
A basic concept of Vygotsky s socio cultural theory is its claim that the human mind is the go between
and plays a significant role for what he calls tools‟ in humans‟ understanding of the world and
themselves (Cole.1978). Vygotsky defends the theory that people do not act directly on the physical
world without the intermediary of tools. Vygotsky describes cognitive development first occurs in a
social context amongst people as inter and within the individual, as intra. Thus meaning, according to
Vygotsky as, Every function in the child s cultural development appears twice: first, on the social
level, and later, on the individual level; first between people (inter psychological) and then inside the
child (intra psychological) (Cole.1978). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vygotsky indicates the latter understanding of consciousness in the field of teaching is embodied in
the concept of metacognition, in which he states, incorporates functions such as planning, voluntary
attention, logical memory, problem solving and evaluation. Without regard, one of the most significant
contributions to the theory is the distinction between the child s actual and potential levels of
development to what Vygotsky refers to as Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD).
The Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) (Cole.1978) is the distance between a student s ability to
perform a task under adult guidance and/or with peer collaboration and the student s ability solving
the problem independently (AIS, 2017). in Vygotsky states Rad s learning occurs in this zone.

Persuasive Essay On Community College
Every semester there is a fight to find a parking space on campus. I began Northshore Technical
Community College in the fall of 2014 at the Hammond area campus. With enrollment increasing
rapidly, Northshore relocated the business department to the North campus of Southeastern Louisiana
University campus in the spring of 2016. There is limited parking for freshmen. The parking area, we
can use is assigned to the overflow of the upper classmen. Even though driving a car to campus is
convenient, riding a bicycle to school is a more practical option for some commuter college students
since of the amount of parking spaces available to students are limited.
Parking is not only an issue for Southeastern Louisiana University, consequently is also a problem for

Also, he doesn t trust anyone who isn t afraid of him. For example, on page four, the book clarifies,
He didn t trust anyone who wasn t afraid of him. As you can see, Cole is not the nicest person in the
world. Cole Matthews has been in trouble with the law for half of his life. An example from the text is
(page five) ...who has been in trouble with the law half his life. Many people in the story think that he
should get tried as an adult and spend some time in jail so he doesn t hurt anyone else. For example,
on page forty six, Peter s lawyer says, That boy is dangerous, she said. Next time he might kill
someone. This Circle Justice has it s place, but I oppose any plan that does not isolate Cole Matthews.
Many characters in the book think that Cole should have all the things that he s done to happen to him.
In the book, Touching Spirit Bear, on page fifty, Peter says, I think someone should smash Cole s head
against a sidewalk so he knows how it feels. In conclusion, Cole is not afraid to hurt people who aren t
afraid of him. Cole is not polite to anyone around him, even if they are a figure of importance. For
example, on page four Edwin says, Go put your clothes on inside out, he ordered. Get real, old man.
Many characters in the book Touching Spirit Bear view Cole as a nuisance and pain in the rear.
According to the text, on page twenty one Garvey states, I don t invest time in losers.

Dwight D Eisenhower Armed Force Analysis
In 1958, as the United States Government sought to reorganize its defense establishment, President
Dwight D. Eisenhower argued that separate ground, sea and air warfare is gone forever. If ever again
we should be involved in war, we will fight in all elements, with all services, as one single
concentrated effort. Eisenhower based his assessment on his experiences as Supreme Allied
Commander in Europe during World War II, but his insight has had a tremendous influence on the way
that the armed services fight. Today the armed services operate as a joint force, yet each service
provides important capabilities, some of which are unique to that service alone. Through law,

Taco Bell Literature Comparison Essay
Introduction
Taco Bell, a United States fast food franchise, is expanding to other parts of the world. In 2011, Taco
Bell introduced its Mexican inspired cuisine to India by opening its first restaurant in Bangalore. U.S.
Taco Bell restaurants are known for their on the go, quick food experience. In contrast, Taco Bell
restaurants in India are a sit down, dining experience (Tandon, 2016). As the franchise opened more
locations in India, Taco Bell also created an Indian version of the Taco Bell website. When comparing
these two websites, there are apparent cultural differences between the sites layout and content. This
report will explore these differences and compare the two Taco Bell websites based on three of
Hofstede s cultural dimensions: individualism, indulgence, and uncertainty avoidance. Examining
Hofstede s current cultural comparisons of the U.S. and India (Shah, 2013), we hypothesize that the
U.S. Taco Bell website will rank higher than its Indian counterpart in individualism and indulgence.
For uncertainty avoidance, we believe that they will have similar results. This report will discuss the
literature review of these cultural dimensions, the methods that are used to evaluate these cultural
dimensions, the results of applying these methods on these two Taco Bell websites, discussion of these
result findings, a conclusion, and recommendations for both the U.S. and Indian Taco Bell websites.

The Island Of Dr. Moreau Analysis
People look to religion for answers. Why was I put on this Earth and for what purpose? The beast
people are asking the same question. Dr. Moreau answers their calls. He created the creatures by
performing vivisection and science experimentations. They worship him. Dr. Moreau is a godly figure
to the creatures. Moreau s godly figuratism on the island is similar to a religion. In the novel The
Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G. Wells, the creatures look to Dr. Moreau as their creator and their God by
singing about Moreau, their fear of his power, and where the story takes place. Moreau brainwashes
the animals to strip them of their animalistic ways by embedding the rules of the island in their chant.
This chant is similar to the bible God s disciples wrote in the form of verses to show examples of how
religious people should live their lives if they want to live on with God in eternity and go to Heaven.
Not to go on all Fours; that is the Law. Are we not Men? Not to suck up drink; that is the Law. Are we

the maker and healer in their eyes. The island is an enclosed space where Moreau can be superior.
There isn t anybody there that can take the power away from him. Even when Moreau dies, his
superior power lives on. Beast people still shudder when they hear his name. The creatures thought
since Moreau was watching the law must live on. Even when they could not see him, they were told to

Twitter In Presidential Elections
The introduction of media has significantly impacted the way candidates campaign during the United
States presidential debate cycles. While mainstream media outlets (i.e. televised newscasts, radio
broadcasts) have played an important role in providing live coverage of events in which candidates
spoke about their platforms, the purpose of the media was completely altered with the introduction of
social media, specifically Twitter. While journalism was meant to be an unbiased practice, Twitter and
other social media sites have taken on the role of a biased news source, forever changing presidential
elections in the process.

should see social media platforms, particularly Twitter, as a catalyst for future change. The use of
social media during the 2016 election has granted several candidates, not just the major party
candidates, plenty of media exposure to a differentiated group of voters. Additionally, social media
grants candidates more time to directly communicate with voters on issues that they are particularly
passionate about. Furthermore, candidates have the opportunity to use feedback from social media
sites to predict future winners of the popular vote well before the election. The millennial
demographic has not held back with their opinions on issues and the results of the election; therefore,

Marywood s Core Values In What Teachers Make And A Good Man
I have decided to compare the novel A Good Man with the poem What Teachers Make because both
have similar and different ways of showing some of Marywood s Core Values. A Good Man is about
Mark Shriver and his father and how his father had done many good deeds while alive. These good
deeds inspired Mark to become the person he was. In the poem What Teachers Make, it is merely
about how a teacher tries to prove a point that all teachers in general have a greater purpose than most
people believe. Both are great pieces of writing that show three of Marywood s Core Values: Respect,
Empowerment, and Excellence. Although both pieces of writing have a strong way of portraying
respect, they are done in different ways. In Mark Shriver s book A Good Man, Sargent Shriver and his
wife show respect by reaching out to black people and people with disabilities. Sargent would always
find a way or people to stop being racist towards the blacks and trying to treat them as equal as
everyone else. The same goes for Sargent s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

deeds for others and was a very selfless person. He was a big inspiration to his son and many others.
There was not one person that hated him. This tells us that Sargent has lived an excellent life with so
many achievements and selfless acts. In Taylor Mali s poem, the narrator explains that teachers are
more than just someone who just teach because they need to make a salary. The examples the narrator
gives of him and how he helps students, shows that he is an excellent teacher and that there are many

The Causes And Impacts Of Hip-Hop Culture
Hip hop is an art form that came out of a troubled time in American history especially in the Bronx.
The building of hip hop culture in the Bronx caused media culture, cultural diversity, changing
economy and citizens rights and responsibilities to arise through the actions of hip hop culture. In the
beginning, hip hop culture started and spread because of the changing economy and hard times for all,
soon graffiti and hip hop culture became a statement throughout the world and was a media that
spread throughout the world. Hip hop emerged partially because of the diversity of the people living in
the Bronx at the time. However hip hop and graffiti was suppressed because many people, such as

Ricans were always playing the Conga. Always had it the rhythms. This shows that the people came

Bronx and the fact they came together helped adapt when the hip hop movement started. Grandmaster
Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, Dj Herc were accepted because the people of the Bronx loved music and

plugged their stereos into lamp post. This activity and the parties brought many people from different

of the Bronx. The changing economy brought many changes to culture and inspired the hip hop
movement partly. In Mark Nason s lecture he talks about how many people adapted hip hop culture

Waitakere Range Research Paper
The Waitakere Ranges are home to many flora and fauna. These plants and animals make up the
communities within their ecosystem. They interact with each other through competition and various
relationships. In the Waitakere Ranges, there are several habitats organisms live in:
Forests and shrub lands
Freshwater wetlands, lakes and streams
Coastal wetlands, dunes, and estuarine tidal flats and channels
Urban area
The populations of each habitat vary, as they would be dependent on abiotic factors such as: light,
temperature, water and soil.
Within communities, organisms compete for limited resources (food, space, mates, shelter). 613 of our
native species (plants, birds, fish), compete with 240 introduced plant species, 19 introduced bird
species, 9 introduced mammals and 2 amphibians. It is estimated that we have lost 30 native bird
species due to this competition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, primary consumers such as snails and weta eat producers, consuming their nutrients. Secondary
consumers, such as Kereru, Tui and Long Tailed Bats then consume these insects, with energy passing

species as they are threats to populations of our native birds.
Pests in the Waitakere ranges include wasps, mould, rats, goats and pigs. These species are considered
predators and parasites, these species benefit while their prey species is harmed. Wasps and mould kill
native trees for shelter and food. Rats, goats and pigs prey on native species of birds, insects and

During the Light Dependent reaction, the suns energy is caught by the chlorophyll molecule, this
happens as oxidation. Energy in the form of a photon is required to increase the energy levels of
electrons which move out of the chlorophyll during oxidation. The energy must then be linked to the
ADP reduction to ATP and coenzyme NADP+ which is condensed to NADPH + H+. This reaction
requires light for it to take place, where it occurs on the thylakoid membranes. Energy from the light is
converted into chemical energy. The molecules of chlorophyll are then attached to the thylakoid
membranes, which can be attached with accessory pigments and different types of proteins to produce
a photo system; in the middle of all photo systems there are different types of chlorophyll each one
has a specialized task to absorb a certain wavelength of light. The Electrons inside of the chlorophyll
absorb the energy produced by the photons and intensifies them so that they are excited. These excited
electrons are easily detached from the chlorophyll in the form of oxidation.

Example Of A Volunteer Paper Example
I have volunteered and worked with children throughout my highschool career. It started with
volunteering for a few weeks at the Vero Beach Museum of Art at their children s art camps. I enjoyed
working with the children and helping them with different art projects. My favorite group was the
princess themed class. There was lots of glitter, tiaras and pink. I loved connecting with the children
and being a role model to them. I also volunteered at Vero Beach Elementary as a reading mentor for a
semester. I was paired up with a young boy who I met with once a week for about an hour and helped
him with English and reading. I loved helping him one on one because I feel like it made an impact on
him and helped him succeed in school.

Assessment Of The Establish Civil Security
Beau S. Vomastic
MAJ, FA
GAAT EXAM
O300 Brigade Operations Exam
28FEB15
(ESSAY QUESTION #1)
Assessment of the Establish Civil Security (LOE) and the linkage to the overall end state: The overall
depiction of the Establish Security LOE is both accurate and relevant to the end state of producing a
safe and secure environment. However, the order of decisive points within the LOE is out of order and
could develop complications of achieving the end state if not properly structured. Currently, the
decisive points within the Establish Civil Security LOE focus emphasis on protecting the
populace/infrastructure, disarming insurgents, clearing explosives, and recruit/train security forces to
successfully achieve a safe and secure environment. In contrast, the reordering of the decisive points
within the Establish Civil Security LOE will allow for a greater chance of success if executed
accordingly. Therefore, it is imperative that the Establish Civil Security LOE should reestablish the
decisive points as follows, thus ensuring both ease of transition as well as local security success.
(Recruit/Train Security Forces, Protect the Populace, Disarm Insurgents, Clear Explosives) If executed
in this order the ease of achieving a safe and secure environment is much more feasible.
Changes and adjustments to the LOE with justification: I recommend front loading (recruit/train local
security forces) in order to maximize police and military effectiveness prior to US

Friendship By William Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice
Friendship is an idea which spans all cultures, but is expressed differently across cultural boundaries.
In William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice, the idea of friendship is critical, not only to the
plot, but also for character development. A friend is, A person with whom one has developed a close
and informal relationship of mutual trust and intimacy; (more generally) a close acquaintance. Often
with adjective indicating the closeness of the relationship, asbest, good, close, etc. (Oxford )
Friendship is the display of trust and intimacy as well as caring for one another. Antonio and Bassanio
are the best of friends. Although both Antonio and Bassanio s characters possess different motivations
for their actions, it is their strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it can be seen that Bassanio does feel guilt over his actions. To you, Antonio, I owe the
most, in money and in love (I, I, 177 178). Bassanio is expressing his remorse over having lived a
lifestyle far beyond that which with his wealth permits, but is grateful for the support that Antonio has
provided him. Although Bassanio may use Antonio for his coffers, he also owes Antonio in love. This
in turn displays that camaraderie is important to Bassanio and although he may be careless with his
money, he is a loyal and caring individual. However, it is clear that at the beginning of the play,
Antonio is far more invested in Bassanio than Bassanio is Antonio. At the beginning of the play it
appears that although they may be genuine friends, Bassanio may be using Antonio for his generosity
rather than brotherhood. Their friendships and characters are further expanded upon when Antonio
goes to meet Shylock and settle the terms of Bassanio s loan.
Act I, Scene 3 is arguably the most important scene in The Merchant of Venice. As it not only sets up
the development of the plot but also furthers the development of Antonio and Bassanio s friendship. In
this scene, Antonio and Bassanio meet with Shylock to discuss terms of a loan that Bassanio may use
to attempt to pursue Portia. Instead of having to pay usury, Shylock opts to take a pound of Antonio s
flesh if the debt is paid late. Upon hearing this, Antonio is confident that he

Postmodernists view of Solution focused Brief therapy (SFBT) is a counseling approach focusing on

Analysis Of As I Lay Dying
Faulkner s Description of Dewey Dell in As I Lay Dying William Faulkner s phrasing, point of view,
and grammar in his polyphonic novel, As I Lay Dying, strategically employs the miserably pessimistic
yet juvenile voice of Dewey Dell to characterize her as the novel s naïve victim. The only surviving
female in the Bundren family, Faulkner presents the hardships that Dewey Dell must endure. In
addition, as an uneducated girl with no guidance, Dewey Dell experiences an uncertainty in many
issues that arise in her life.
Dewey Dell s diction in As I Lay Dying functions to unravel the novel s deeper themes of suffering
and selfishness. Burdened with an illegitimate pregnancy after having sex with Lafe, Dewey Dell
grieves alone as she is isolated in her guilt and shame. She views the world as a sickening visceral pile
of guts, implying that death is her only relief, furthering the theme of mortality. It is interesting that
Dewey Dell also describes her pregnancy as I am a little tub of guts and if there is not any room for
anything else important in a big tub of guts, how can it be room in a little tub of guts. (Faulkner 58).
Which implies the meaning of birth as a miserable duty, rather than a joyful need. As the novel
progresses, Dewey Dell works on past New Hope three miles. That s what they mean by the womb of
time: the agony and the despair of spreading bones, the hard girdle in which lie the outraged entrails of
events. (Faulkner 121). In the efforts to bury Addie in

My Reflection Of Writing
As an English 100 student, I have learned that I am not as good at writing as I thought I was. As the
year has progressed, the assignments seem to have become more tedious. I have also not taken the
necessary steps to create a good essay as I did on my first few assignments. In my first essay, I
carefully planned my essay and made sure that I actually understood what was being asked of me. As
the essays were assigned in rapid succession, I became more careless. Due to this, my essay scores
have dropped significantly. My first essay assigned in English 100 was, MICKY D. This essay is an
observational essay that explained how my workplace, McDonald s, is considered a discourse
community. My initial grade on this essay was a 90%. The next assigned essay was a literary narrative
essay called How I Got These Scars. This essay was about me learning how to ride my first big kid
bike . This essay was very difficult because I was having trouble remembering my past experience of
learning how to ride a bike. The memories were very vague and it is difficult for me to be creative
enough to add fictitious statements to the essay. The grade for this essay was an 89% before revisions.
My final essay was over an informative essay called, The Graft. The Graft is about my experiences
with the processes that lead up to me getting my knee cartilage graft. This essay was poorly executed
which lead to an initial grade of 73%. My grades have significantly dropped due to a decrease in effort

Hot Potato Evaluation
Evaluation of Objectives #1
Social development: Sharing The children will respectfully share materials during play.
This developmental object was displayed through the Hot potato (share the animal) activity. The
activity consisted of a sharing action, by passing on the different animal to the next preschooler. I
believe that the objective was achieved though this activity, as except one child was eventually able to
pass along the animals properly. For example, in blue group six preschooler automatically
comprehended the objective of the game and passed the animals along smoothly, while two (G.M and
G.P) children need to be reminded that this is a sharing activity and that we need to continuously pass
along the animals. In yellow group every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I read the book about sharing and taking turns, I asked the preschoolers to describe what they see
and how the characters are feeling. The objective was only partially achieved in the yellow group as I
did not give an introduction explaining my book. This mistake could of possibly made it more difficult
for the children to describe the scenario in the story, as they did not know what to focus on. On the
other hand, I did ask questions throughout the book, prompting children to use descriptive words to
describe how the characters were feeling. For example, F.W was able to explain and use descriptive
words when answering my questions throughout the book, but at the end of the book she was not able
to describe the main theme. All eight children reacted the same way. This is my fault as I did not
specify where the preschoolers should maintain their focus. Therefore, my second time implementing
the activity allowed all eight children in the blue group to fully achieve the objective, as I made sure to
be more clear about what the children should focus on, helping them interact and understand more
thoroughly. Overall, the children reacted well to the book as I used different tones to keep them

  • 2. Target Swot Analysis Essay Strengths The Target Corporation (NYSE TGT) is the second largest retail store in the world. The company evolved from South Minneapolis in 1902. The original name of the store was Dayton Dry Goods, which originated from the founder George Dayton. Over the years the store underwent several changes. In 1962 the store changed its name to Dayton Hudson, and then in the year 2000 the store took on the name Target. Target prides their company as being one of the leading upscale discounted retailers in America, featuring high quality fashionable clothing and household furnishing. According to 10 Things You Didn t Know about Target (2015) Each of Target s regional distribution centers serves anywhere from 50 to 80 Target stores, can span 1.3 to 1.6 million square feet in size and consist of enough concrete to run a two lane highway for 25 miles (p.1). The Target Corporation is a resourceful industry; they have many subsidiaries namely Target Commercial interiors, Target.Com, Target Brands, Target Financial Services, and Target sourcing services. Target Commercial interiors (TCI) have over a dozen display rooms in various states throughout the US such as Minnesota, Arizona, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Target is focusing on promoting their interior designs and furniture to clientele of diverse corporations and business offices. Their current plans are concentrating on a new customer like midsize and smaller organizations (Target Commercial Interiors, Inc., n.d.). When it comes to advertising Target spares no expense. They use multiple avenues to inform their consumers predominantly T.V. commercials, which is the responsible for the majority of the advertising cost. • 3. Crisis Response Time for American Red Cross Essay (1) Since the writing of this case, the American Red Cross (ARC) is on record as having conceptually addressed its infrastructure and operational hurdles. However, very few strides have been made to reverse stakeholder perception crisis response time, relief dispatch strategies, and the ethical dilemmas plaguing the organization. Governmental mandates that streamlined the board and that established accounting /reporting parameters have done little to modify the organizations operational culture. Since 2002, the organization has had seven CEO s. This high turnover has prompted concern from stakeholders and government officials. Records indicate the organization now has approximately 35,000 employees and its volunteer pools still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These re occurring incidents have shaken the confidence of stakeholders and have begun to have an adverse impact on donor perceptions of the integrity and validity of the efforts promoted by ARC (Welch, 2012). In March 2012, local leaders and the United Way demanded answers from Red Cross Panhandle Chapter regarding the distribution of $282K that was raised from wildfire relief donations. These funds were raised in 2010 and by the time the inquiries began many of the 2010 ARC staff in this chapter had been replaced under the government restructure. As such, new staff found itself in a quandary as it sought to address the questions and accusations being hurled (Welch, 2012). The tangible numbers that were eventually conveyed indicated that of the $282k raised, $119k was actually given to victims and $60K was used to restock inventories. This account still left $103K unaccounted for. The next speculation that surfaced was revolved around why the funds were not distributed for the purpose for which it was collected? A spokesperson for the local ARC chapter communicated that, personally, he [did] not like this [situation] and he acknowledged the top two previous chapter officials made errors. It was noted that these same two officials left the company in May of 2011 for what ARC labeled as personal reasons . • 5. Essay on Quentin Tarentino Quentin Tarentino Throughout the many years the film industry has grown, a certain type of filmmaker immerged, known as an auteur. An auteur, usually a director, has a strong personal style and exercises creative control over his or her works. Quentin Tarentino, for example, has proven himself to be an auteur in various ways. Quentin Tarentino worked for four years as a clerk in a Los Angeles video store, where he made his feature directorial and screenwriting debut of Reservoir Dogs, and where he further expanded his great knowledge of film. Tarentino s personal style incorporates a lot of well thought out violence, swearing, repetitive casting, and many other filming techniques. In looking at Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The last very brutal scene of the movie is when the whole crew of gangsters hold guns that are pointed at each other for the sake of Mr. Orange s life. Eventually, the whole gang ends up dying, even Mr. Orange. When he confesses to being a cop Mr. White puts a bullet in his head and is instantly killed by the police officers that came in for the bust. All this violence portrays many things about the film and about what Tarentino is trying to suggest. He manifests these gangster characters with such disregard to living, going to jail, and swearing simply to show the audience how he believes criminals act. Quentin therefore tries to present a criminal lifestyle as it most likely is, not worth it. He suggests that a life of crime and violence leads to dead ends such as jail, death, or predicaments such as having an informant on a well planned out diamond heist. Quentin Tarentino uses tracking shots that also leave his mark on the movies he directs. For instance, when Mr. Blonde starts to lead his fellow criminals out to the car to look at the cop he has captured. The camera begins to follow the group out to the car from their backsides, and then opens up to the outside of the warehouse, from dark to light. This shows the criminals containment in the warehouse; in a way trapped from leaving. When they arrive to the car, the camera shows the criminals from a low angle. This represents their power over the cop, and the feelings they hold for their superiority over law, when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Irony In How Stories Came To Earth Some tricks take place simply for fun or to mess with an individual, but others require more thought in order to achieve a great reward. Regardless of the intentions, playing tricks are not nice because no one enjoys being fooled. In one of three trickster tales titled, How Stories Came to Earth, retold by Kaleki, a spider named Kwaku Anansi tricks four different creature, in order to receive stories from the sky god, Nyame. In another tale, Coyote Steals Fire retold by Richard Erdoes and Alfonso Ortiz, a coyote tricks a god like person named Thunder into giving up his rock of fire. One method of trickery, in the story, is cheating. Coyote cheats during the game of dice, which he plays with his uncle, Thunder. The narrator better explains Coyote s system of cheating when the text reads, Now, Coyote is the trickiest fellow alive. He is the master at cheating at all kinds of games....Thunder was no match for Coyote when it came to cheating (Erdoes and Ortiz 45). Coyote purposely makes Thunder lose so that he can win and receive the fire. Coyote also tricks Thunder when he distracts him during their intense game of dice. Coyote makes Thunder blink so that Coyote can switch the dice around without Thunder seeing. The story clearly explains this process of trickery by saying, He distracted Thunder and made him blink. Then, quick as a flash, he took a counting stick away from Thunder s pile and added it to his own (Erdoes and Ortiz 45). Coyote messes with the score, so that by the end of the game Thunder is losing by a significant amount. The last way Coyote tricks Thunder occurs when, Coyote sheds the outer part of his body, and runs away with his vital organs. Thunder believes that Coyote is lying on the ground, so he throws the rock of fire at his outer body, but obviously it does no harm to Coyote. The narrator describes the trick by saying, Coyote could pull the outer part of his body off....Thunder picked up the huge rock containing fire and hurled it at what he thought was Coyote (Erdoes and Ortiz). Thunder believes he kills Coyote, when he simply gives Coyote the prize he longs for the whole time. • 7. How Wrestling Has Changed My Life Wrestling has and always will be a big part of my life, that s not to say I have had a pleasant nor a fair time on the wrestling mat, but I guess life s not fair. I have always enjoyed wrestling from the first time I stepped foot on a mat in kindergarten in my singlet that was 2 sizes too big, from the last time leaving the mat as a junior in high school limping off the mat in some of the worst pain I ve ever felt in my life. It s been in my family for as long as I can remember. My uncle has not missed being mat side, yelling for his favorite wrestlers at the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament in 20 years. My cousin wrestled for Iowa State University before coming back to his hometown in Mankato and suffering a career ending injury as well. My time on the mat was not always that of heart break. Going through elementary I never had a losing season, let alone a season where I lost more than five matches. In fifth and sixth grade I took place in NYWA and Gopher State. Gopher State is a tournament for the top wrestlers in Minnesota and all the states surrounding it. That was some of the hardest wrestling I have ever encountered. I placed in the top six at NYWA and not placing at Gopher state unfortunately. The summer before my junior year I went to multiple wrestling camps costing thousands of dollars and lasting weeks in time. And when it came time to vote for captains I just knew I was going to get it. The night before the coach told us who was going to be awarded captain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The First Sfx Entertainment Was Formed By Robert F. X History The first SFX Entertainment was formed by Robert F. X. Sillerman in the 1990s. Its business model surrounded the acquisition and consolidation of regional concert promoters into a single national entity. In 2000, Sillerman sold the company to the radio broadcasting company Clear Channel Communications for $4.4 billion USD, which spun off in 2005 to form Live Nation, and merged with Ticketmaster in 2009 to form Live Nation Entertainment. In June 2012, Sillerman publicized his intent to focus on the growing electronic dance music market by reviving the SFX brand to form a new conglomerate in the electronic music industry. Similarly to the past incarnation of SFX, the company s business model focuses on the consolidation and acquisition of independent EDM promoters, along with an additional focus on providing digital platforms for fans to connect. Sillerman expected to spend close to $1 billion on acquisitions within the first year of operations alone. In June 2013, SFX announced an IPO and began trading on the NASDAQ. Following its IPO, SFX also acquired companies more digital properties and promoters, but the stock price kept going down due to the lack of income. On February, 2015, Sillerman announced a proposal to buy out SFX s public stock at $4.75 per share to take the company private, and support exploring a potential sale. By August 2015, the value of SFX stock had decreased considerably, going as low as 91 cents per share. On August 14, 2015, the company ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Noah s Piety In The Play In the York Corpus Christi Plays, many of the characters are so over top, so remarkably buffoonish that those characters are ultimately quite comedic in effect. To a modern audience, a comedic biblical character may seem blasphemous it may seem morally wrong to laugh at Jesus s executioners as they struggle to crucify Christianity s most important figure. However, when examining exactly how those characters function in the play, the comedic nature of those characters may not be wholly blasphemous in effect. For example, do those comedic executioners only make the audience laugh at Jesus s crucifixion, or do they emphasize Jesus s calm and solemn nature? Similarly, plays about Noah s ark and the great flood include comedic characters, yet those plays do not feel totally blasphemous. Instead, the inclusion of a variety of characters in these plays seems more nuanced. In the York Corpus Christi Play The Building of the Ark, Noah s piety is established through his undying trust in God and his general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout his encounter with God, Noah does not question God s intentions or his plan. The only thing Noah questions is his own ability to perform such great actions (which is, again, related to his pious humility), never God s general plan. Not only is Noah humble, he is also obedient and trusts in his God. In attributing Noah s piety to humility, trust in God, obedience, and gratitude, The Building of the Ark subsequently praises these attributes and establishes them as virtues. Alzheimer disease, which damages brain cells, is the major cause of dementia. It is estimated that around 850,000 people in UK developed dementia in 2015. The risks of developing dementia will increase by the comprehensive contributions of aging, risk genes, and unhealthy lifestyles. However, the medical treatments fails to cure dementia effectively for the mechanics of how dementia is developed is too complicated to identify. Therefore, present research on dementia treatments mainly concentrates on technological devices to help people with dementia. In this report, three technological approaches (the early diagnosis in preventing people from dementia, infrared movement sensors to help taking care of people with dementia, and integrated smart house are introduced and the limitations future implications of these technologies are discussed. By using Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), a technique for measuring brain activity, dementia can be spotted early and therefore being prevented. The patient will firstly be put on a electroencephalography (EEG) cap, which records electrical activities (representing brain activities) of the brain, and then lie in the fMRI machine. After the clinician has determined which memory to target first, he asks the client to hold different aspects of that event or thought in mind and to use his eyes to track the therapist s hand as it moves back and forth across the client s field of vision. As this happens, for reasons believed by a Harvard researcher to be connected with the biological mechanisms involved in Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, internal associations arise and the clients begin to process the memory and disturbing feelings. Comparison Of Robespierre And The French Revolution In a time when France was fighting for natural rights and a separation from totalitarian rulers, Maximilien Robespierre and the Committee for Public Safety believed the best way to advance their goal was to temporarily enact the exact opposite of everything they were trying to achieve to allow the country to recover from inner conflict. During a point when France was in a crisis transitioning from monarchy, the Committee for Public Safety, led by Robespierre, took control of the executive government. One of the most prominent details of the Terror is the fact that thousands of people were sent to the guillotine during this time period. Many of these unfortunate souls had done nothing wrong outside of voicing their opinions. However, if Robespierre and the French government got word of this person s actions and deemed their thoughts even just a little too radical or counter revolutionary, they were executed. One of the most critical tenets of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution was the freedom to voice one s opinion and not be punished or silenced by authority. This idea is echoed in the tenth and eleventh articles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man, which state that freedom of speech, the press, religion, etc. and the freedom to express one s opinions openly are among the most important natural rights of men, and that those using this right should not be silenced so long as their views aren t disrupting the order of society. However, while Robespierre doesn t address these actions directly in his Report on the Principles of Political Morality, he portrays the government s harsh actions on anyone who would hinder or abandon the revolutionary cause as justice. While Robespierre may have been looking at his actions through rose tinted glasses, the massacre of thousands of people for simply sharing their beliefs clearly went against key principles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man, the Enlightenment, and the French Revolution. The arrest of suspected individuals and execution of those voicing their opinions are clear violations of man s natural rights, but even the nature of Robespierre s rule alone could be seen as a breach of the National Assembly s view on man and society just years ... An overwhelming amount of evidence points to the fact that mankind s actions, specifically the emission of greenhouse gasses are having drastic effects on the planet s climate. B. In America, Industry, in general is responsible for twenty percent of all greenhouse emissions C. However, many people believe that this number can be greatly reduced by implementing cap and trade on carbon emissions. D. Some people believe that cap and trade is the most environmentally and economically sensible approach to controlling greenhouse gas emissions. The cap sets a limit on greenhouse emissions that a company can release. This cap is lowered over time to reduce emissions. Then the trade allows companies to trade their emissions. So for example if company A has very low emissions compared to company B who has high emissions. Company A can trade Company B the emissions that they have not used up. This essentially would create a market for emissions while at the same time lowering emissions. This system would allow industry leaders to plan for a future that is sustainable without hurting their profit margin too much and the amount of emissions released could not be monitored. E. Implementing cap and trade would reap many environmental benefits however there is an opposition that would like to resist cap and trade, as they believe it would hinder business. II. Marywood s Core Values In What Teachers Make And A Good Man I have decided to compare the novel A Good Man with the poem What Teachers Make because both have similar and different ways of showing some of Marywood s Core Values. In the poem What Teachers Make, it is merely about how a teacher tries to prove a point that all teachers in general have a greater purpose than most people believe. • 38. Waitakere Range Research Paper The Waitakere Ranges are home to many flora and fauna. These plants and animals make up the communities within their ecosystem. They interact with each other through competition and various relationships. In the Waitakere Ranges, there are several habitats organisms live in: Forests and shrub lands Freshwater wetlands, lakes and streams Coastal wetlands, dunes, and estuarine tidal flats and channels Urban area The populations of each habitat vary, as they would be dependent on abiotic factors such as: light, temperature, water and soil. Within communities, organisms compete for limited resources (food, space, mates, shelter). 613 of our native species (plants, birds, fish), compete with 240 introduced plant species, 19 introduced bird species, 9 introduced mammals and 2 amphibians. It is estimated that we have lost 30 native bird species due to this competition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pests in the Waitakere ranges include wasps, mould, rats, goats and pigs. These species are considered predators and parasites, these species benefit while their prey species is harmed. Wasps and mould kill native trees for shelter and food. Rats, goats and pigs prey on native species of birds, insects and fauna. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the Light Dependent reaction, the suns energy is caught by the chlorophyll molecule, this happens as oxidation. Energy in the form of a photon is required to increase the energy levels of electrons which move out of the chlorophyll during oxidation. The energy must then be linked to the ADP reduction to ATP and coenzyme NADP+ which is condensed to NADPH + H+. This reaction requires light for it to take place, where it occurs on the thylakoid membranes. Energy from the light is converted into chemical energy. The molecules of chlorophyll are then attached to the thylakoid membranes, which can be attached with accessory pigments and different types of proteins to produce a photo system; in the middle of all photo systems there are different types of chlorophyll each one has a specialized task to absorb a certain wavelength of light. The Electrons inside of the chlorophyll absorb the energy produced by the photons and intensifies them so that they are excited. These excited electrons are easily detached from the chlorophyll in the form of oxidation. The light dependent reaction is used by the light independent reaction by utilizing the chemical energy from the light to fix the carbon from the atmosphere natural molecules such as glucose. This process does not need light, which enables it to occur in both the dark and the light periods within stroma. The energy trapped from sunlight in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Assessment Of The Establish Civil Security Beau S. Vomastic MAJ, FA GAAT EXAM O300 Brigade Operations Exam 28FEB15 (ESSAY QUESTION #1) Assessment of the Establish Civil Security (LOE) and the linkage to the overall end state: The overall depiction of the Establish Security LOE is both accurate and relevant to the end state of producing a safe and secure environment. However, the order of decisive points within the LOE is out of order and could develop complications of achieving the end state if not properly structured. Currently, the decisive points within the Establish Civil Security LOE focus emphasis on protecting the populace/infrastructure, disarming insurgents, clearing explosives, and recruit/train security forces to successfully achieve a safe and secure environment. In contrast, the reordering of the decisive points within the Establish Civil Security LOE will allow for a greater chance of success if executed accordingly. Therefore, it is imperative that the Establish Civil Security LOE should reestablish the decisive points as follows, thus ensuring both ease of transition as well as local security success. (Recruit/Train Security Forces, Protect the Populace, Disarm Insurgents, Clear Explosives) If executed in this order the ease of achieving a safe and secure environment is much more feasible. Changes and adjustments to the LOE with justification: I recommend front loading (recruit/train local security forces) in order to maximize police and military effectiveness prior to US ... • 45. Friendship By William Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice Friendship is an idea which spans all cultures, but is expressed differently across cultural boundaries. In William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice, the idea of friendship is critical, not only to the plot, but also for character development. A friend is, A person with whom one has developed a close and informal relationship of mutual trust and intimacy; (more generally) a close acquaintance. Often with adjective indicating the closeness of the relationship, asbest, good, close, etc. (Oxford ) Friendship is the display of trust and intimacy as well as caring for one another. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, it can be seen that Bassanio does feel guilt over his actions. To you, Antonio, I owe the most, in money and in love (I, I, 177 178). Bassanio is expressing his remorse over having lived a lifestyle far beyond that which with his wealth permits, but is grateful for the support that Antonio has provided him. Although Bassanio may use Antonio for his coffers, he also owes Antonio in love. This in turn displays that camaraderie is important to Bassanio and although he may be careless with his money, he is a loyal and caring individual. However, it is clear that at the beginning of the play, Antonio is far more invested in Bassanio than Bassanio is Antonio. At the beginning of the play it appears that although they may be genuine friends, Bassanio may be using Antonio for his generosity rather than brotherhood. Their friendships and characters are further expanded upon when Antonio goes to meet Shylock and settle the terms of Bassanio s loan. Act I, Scene 3 is arguably the most important scene in The Merchant of Venice. As it not only sets up the development of the plot but also furthers the development of Antonio and Bassanio s friendship. In this scene, Antonio and Bassanio meet with Shylock to discuss terms of a loan that Bassanio may use to attempt to pursue Portia. Instead of having to pay usury, Shylock opts to take a pound of Antonio s flesh if the debt is paid late. Upon hearing this, Antonio is confident that he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Analysis Of As I Lay Dying Faulkner s Description of Dewey Dell in As I Lay Dying William Faulkner s phrasing, point of view, and grammar in his polyphonic novel, As I Lay Dying, strategically employs the miserably pessimistic yet juvenile voice of Dewey Dell to characterize her as the novel s naïve victim. The only surviving female in the Bundren family, Faulkner presents the hardships that Dewey Dell must endure. In addition, as an uneducated girl with no guidance, Dewey Dell experiences an uncertainty in many issues that arise in her life. Dewey Dell s diction in As I Lay Dying functions to unravel the novel s deeper themes of suffering and selfishness. Burdened with an illegitimate pregnancy after having sex with Lafe, Dewey Dell grieves alone as she is isolated in her guilt and shame. She views the world as a sickening visceral pile of guts, implying that death is her only relief, furthering the theme of mortality. It is interesting that Dewey Dell also describes her pregnancy as I am a little tub of guts and if there is not any room for anything else important in a big tub of guts, how can it be room in a little tub of guts. (Faulkner 58). Which implies the meaning of birth as a miserable duty, rather than a joyful need. As the novel progresses, Dewey Dell works on past New Hope three miles. That s what they mean by the womb of time: the agony and the despair of spreading bones, the hard girdle in which lie the outraged entrails of events. (Faulkner 121). As the year has progressed, the assignments seem to have become more tedious. I have also not taken the necessary steps to create a good essay as I did on my first few assignments. In my first essay, I carefully planned my essay and made sure that I actually understood what was being asked of me. As the essays were assigned in rapid succession, I became more careless. Due to this, my essay scores have dropped significantly. My first essay assigned in English 100 was, MICKY D. This essay is an observational essay that explained how my workplace, McDonald s, is considered a discourse community. My initial grade on this essay was a 90%. The next assigned essay was a literary narrative essay called How I Got These Scars. This essay was about me learning how to ride my first big kid bike . This essay was very difficult because I was having trouble remembering my past experience of learning how to ride a bike. The memories were very vague and it is difficult for me to be creative enough to add fictitious statements to the essay. The grade for this essay was an 89% before revisions. My final essay was over an informative essay called, The Graft. The Graft is about my experiences with the processes that lead up to me getting my knee cartilage graft. This developmental object was displayed through the Hot potato (share the animal) activity. The activity consisted of a sharing action, by passing on the different animal to the next preschooler. I believe that the objective was achieved though this activity, as except one child was eventually able to pass along the animals properly. For example, in blue group six preschooler automatically comprehended the objective of the game and passed the animals along smoothly, while two (G.M and G.P) children need to be reminded that this is a sharing activity and that we need to continuously pass along the animals. As I read the book about sharing and taking turns, I asked the preschoolers to describe what they see and how the characters are feeling. The objective was only partially achieved in the yellow group as I did not give an introduction explaining my book. This mistake could of possibly made it more difficult for the children to describe the scenario in the story, as they did not know what to focus on. On the other hand, I did ask questions throughout the book, prompting children to use descriptive words to describe how the characters were feeling. For example, F.W was able to explain and use descriptive words when answering my questions throughout the book, but at the end of the book she was not able to describe the main theme. All eight children reacted the same way. This is my fault as I did not specify where the preschoolers should maintain their focus. Therefore, my second time implementing the activity allowed all eight children in the blue group to fully achieve the objective, as I made sure to be more clear about what the children should focus on, helping them interact and understand more thoroughly. Overall, the children reacted well to the book as I used different tones to keep them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
