Genetically Modified Food ( Gm Food )
Introduction Genetic engineering or biotechnology can be applied to different fields such as animal
biology, agriculture, or in microorganism. [8] Ever since the first genetically modified food (GM food)
Flavr Savr tomato was invented in 1994 [16], genetically modified food has been at the center of
controversy in terms of its suitability for human consumption and its effect on the biodiversity of
naturally evolved organisms. Monsanto is the largest GM seed producer in North America to the
extend that 80 percent of U.S. corn and 93 percent of soy grown from Monsanto patented GMO seeds.
[17] Monsanto has a tremendous influence and control over the marketing and production of global
seed industries. [17] According to a scientific journal report , GM fed mice could be related to the
reduction in digestive enzyme synthesis [9], suggesting that the consumption of GM food may impair
our digestion, and that individuals may be sensitive and vulnerable to a variety of foods. [9] Another
concern with GM food is its impact on biodiversity. However, the issues surrounding biodiversity may
differ from region to region [5]; for instance, developed countries have less farmland to produce GM
food by comparison to their developing counterparts. Therefore, the impact of GM food on
biodiversity may be less pronounced in developed countries. However, the common environmental
impact brought on by the cultivation of GM food is: a change in ecosystems and biodiversity, habitat
change,

Argumentative Essay On Donald Trump
While Liu chooses his ten main ten things to be mostly politics, I will do almost the same. The most
important person in America is always the president, so naturally, I will include Donald Trump on my
list. Secondly, along the lines of politics will be Net Neutrality. I don t have a strong opinion on it
myself, but I do believe it is essential to know the ins and outs of it due to how important the internet
is. The third topic will be pure politics. Hirsh did not include the simple word of politics, so I will add
it myself. The fourth will be Elon Musk, a tech giant. Finally is video games, which is something dear
to my heart, and also ingrained in most of society. This should be learned by any American or soon to
be American due to their importance on America s culture.
Donald Trump, America s current president. He didn t come to power easily. But that is what makes
him so important. Trump s biggest feature was that he was never politically correct, and still is not to
this day. Many people saw this as a good thing to have in a president. He wouldn t be pushed aside by
some foreign country. Trump is also different from the previous president in that he was a large
businessman, he was a billionaire. This means he s probably well versed in the political side of
businesses. However, with this, he also lacks the knowledge of being a politician. He never held an
office anywhere else. He only shares this with five other presidents. Everyone should know how
Trump came to be,

Trinity Theory
The Trinity
The Trinity is the foundation in which Christianity is laid upon. Each of the three figures are crucial to
understanding the religion. Without understanding one of these, a person cannot fully grasp
Christianity. The Trinity is a theory that attempts to explain exactly what is Jesus to God and God to
the Holy Spirit. Having said that, it begs the question, what is the explanation given by the Trinity?
The Trinity is a representation of the holy or godly figures in Christianity; The Father , Jesus The Son ,
and the Holy Spirit. (Christian Beliefs PowerPoint). Specifically, it states that The Father , Jesus, and
the Holy Spirit are all God (Bart Ehrman on the Origins of the Trinity). Bart states in his YouTube
video, Bart Ehrman on the Origins of the Trinity, that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all equal in
power because they are all embodiments of God himself but, he reiterates that, there is still only one
God. This conundrum basically equates to a theorem stating that 1=1 and at the same time, 1=3. After
coming to that conclusion, Bart Ehrman offers a ground for solace, stating The Trinity is a mystery, a
person cannot understand it, that is why it is a mystery. (Bart Ehrman on the Origins of the Trinity)
This contradicts the statements in the beginning of the essay, saying a person must understand the
Trinity in order to grasp Christianity. Although, a person cannot understand how the Trinity is
possible, they can understand the whole

The Effect Of Alzheimer s Disease On My Family
In the last year my great aunt was diagnosed with Alzheimer s disease along with many other people
worldwide. The diagnoses took my family by surprise because my great aunt had been so healthy up
until she started showing signs of this horrible disease. Naturally my family had so many questions on
what was to come and how this disease was going to affect my great aunt. The doctors gave us many
options and stacks of paperwork that was filled with research over the disease. The statistics on the
disease shocked me to the core. After reading this research, I had so many questions that were left
unanswered, but my biggest questions being why is this horrible disease becoming more common? Is
the disease genetic or hereditary? I had so many questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that roughly five million Americans are directly affected, not to mention, the family
members of the person diagnosed who have to care for their loved one. I know from personal
experience, that this disease takes a toll not only on the person diagnosed but on the family. The
family has to sit and watch this disease take the life out of their loved one with no way to help. The
effect this has had on my family is why I took it upon myself to do more research and find more
information. Alzheimer s Association states that deaths due to Alzheimer s Disease increased sixty
eight percent from the year 2000 to the year 2010. (Alz Association) That statistic baffles me because I
cannot help but wonder why this horrible disease is becoming drastically more common with every
passing second. The number of people diagnosed each year is not just increasing in America but
worldwide. The United States is actually not the leading country, but is close behind Europe, where,
Alzheimer Disease is most commonly found. This disease is less common in Africa and India, but
they still have a high percentage of people diagnosed each year. Alzheimer s disease is known to
primarily be found in people over the age of 65, so researchers believe that the cases of the disease
diagnosed are increasing due to population aging. Epidemiology of Alzheimer s Disease states that
worldwide population aging has become a phenomenon especially when dealing with Alzheimer s
disease. US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that the ...the projected number of older
people (65+) in the world is expected to increase from 420 million in 2000 to nearly one billion by
2030... (citation) Researchers believe that since the number of people over the age of sixty five is
increasing drastically, that the number of diagnoses a year will also increase

Compare And Contrast Alice In Wonderland And Alward...
The director, Tim Burton, uses Alice in Wonderland and Edward Scissorhands to reveal his signature
storytelling style of contrasting the Iindividual againstversus society. This is shown through the plot of
the two films as well as the characters of Alice and Edward, and the setting of Wonderland versus
London and Edwards castle vs the town. The director s purpose was to reveal the idea that when
people are placed in a different surrounding and situation it can be confusing, and they need help to
understand it.
Tim Burton s key signature styles of individual versus society is shown through the plot of the two
films. In Edward Scissorhands an individual is found in a castle by a woman, the woman takes
Edward into her home. Edward is introduced to the society who are all very cautious of him at first but
they are very impressed by his talents and they take full advantage of them. Edward had a bit of an
outburst following a disagreement between himself and Jim (Kim s boyfriend). Edward then runs
away and returns, Kevin is walking around looking for Edward when he is nearly hit by a car Edward
then saves him. From a bystander s point of view it would look as if Edward is trying to hurt Kevin as
he tries to get up from the floor. The people see this and want Edward dead. Similarly in Alice in
Wonderland we also see Alice being pressured from two societies, one being her home of London
where she is pressured by family and friends to marry someone she doesn t wish to marry. In
Wonderland she is pressured by the people Wonderland to be Alice and kill the jabberwocky. Through
both these stories, the director is portraying the wider idea that a change of environment can be scary
as the individual doesn t know who to trust and where to go.This idea is shown through a range of film
techniques such as close ups, long shots and extreme close ups in order to reveal aspects of setting and
characterisation.
In the two films, the director shows similarities between the two locations one being in Edward
Scissorhands which is Edward s castle and location one of Alice in Wonderland which is Wonderland.
For example, in Edward Scissorhands, this is shown when the inside of Edward s castle comes into
view when Peg walks up the

Estrangement In Waiting For The Barbarians By David Malouf
The Post colonial genre in litterature deals with several themes such as opression, violence, and
diffrences between civilized folks and uncivilized folks. The two novels understudy are, Waiting for
the Barbarians by J.M Coetzee and Remembering Babylon by David Malouf, each published in 1980
and 1993. It principally deals with the feeling of estrangement a man can feel when he is torn apart
between his nature and his community. It is legitimate to question what leads men to wonder about the
deeds that his community pushes him to do. To what extend a community or a power can bring a man
to a complete estrangement towards his community?
Throughout the novels there are several leitmotive that conduct the two protagonists to a complete
estrangement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also brings the protagonists towards their estrangement.
In Malouf s novel, Gemmy is often deshumanized. Gemmy is described as being part of the other, he
is a scarecrow (3). A black ! That was the boy s first thought. We re being raided by blacks. After so
many false alarms it had come. (2). The reader is brought to see the scene through the eyes of a child,
which also emphasizes the fear. Gemmy is also referred to as it , which shows how much he is
unworthy of being referred to as a human.
Back to Coetzee s novel with the killing and tortures of an old barbarian man and his brutalized
grandson. In the book they are referred as frank and filthy (10) by the magistrate even though the
reader perceives the growing estrangement of the magistrate towards the Empire and their inhuman
deeds. There is also the scene in the book when Colonel Joll beats naked barbarians in front of the
crowd not hatred, not blood lust, but a curiosity so intense that their body are drained by it and only
their eyes live, organs of a new and ravening appetite. (115). Here the magistrate estrangement
towards the event and the empire is at its climax. Describing the scene as an act of atrocity proves that
the magistrate is completely estranged to

How Does Culture Shape Australian Society
Australian society?
Nature has its own identity, culture and language to which they abide by, only humans demand and set
identity, culture and language rules, to suit their need of the era. Language and culture are dependent
on each other, without either you have no identity. Humanity and religion have set rules for males,
females, the young and the old. So to communicate with each other and to appreciate and accept
others beliefs, means that most people have to be considerate and have recognition for one another s
way of life. With over thirty five languages spoken in Australia, most migrants learn to speak
Australian after they come here, others have come from a multi language speaking area, so that

Animal Testing
Who would you want to see live animals or humans? Clearly it must be humans. Animal experiments
are the process in which wise researchers develop products by evaluating the effects of those products
on animals. Animal testing must progress, because if it does not people could not use what they are
using, such as medication and makeup. Before animal testing doctors could not be as confent as they

For instance, the skin of mice with a chemically induced tumor result in regression in the cutaneous

Muhammad Ali Biography Essay
Muhammad Ali was born on January 17, 1942 In Louisville. One day Ali s bike had been stolen.
Someone had suggested that he should report it to a nearby police. Ali reported it to a traffic cop
named, Joe Martin. Joe ran a boxing gym in the basement of the convention hall. He took Ali to the
basement. Right when Ali got there he was in awe of all that the boxers were doing. The sights and
sounds and smell of the boxing gym excited him so much that he almost forgot about his bike. Right
then at that moment was when Muhammad Ali discovered boxing.

School, Reynolds saw Ali s talents and was interested. He offered him to let him train with him for no

In 1967, after twenty years since Jackie Robinson and Joe Louis. Ali had set the standard for behavior

to block it (Conklin 74). That day he declared a statewide day of mourning.
Muhammad Ali is still here today. Unfortunately, in 1984 Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson s

Summary Of Helena Maria ViramontesUnder The Feet Of Jesus
In the passage from Under the Feet of Jesus , Helena Maria Viramontes utilizes elements such as
figurative language and selection of detail to document and analyze the development of Estrella s
character throughout the text. The perplexity and distress she feels in school is evident until she
matures by the end of the excerpt demonstrating her newly acquired potential and confidence. These
elements demonstrate how an impoverished immigrant like Estrella learns and realizes to understand
critical, essential aspects and use this to rise above her struggles and be up to par to the teacher s
expectations who deemed her unworthy. Her relationship with Perfecto Flores and his toolbox helps to
guide her to acknowledge the everlasting and infinite value of education and its significance.
Viramontes uses figurative language to compare Estrella s confused and frustrated expression when
she sees things that she doesn t understand or know what they are. She compares the tools and obscure
shaped objects from a toolbox to a foreign language that one does not understand to emphasize the
difficulty that Estrella faces when she comes into contact with these tools with a regular person who
comes into a language that is not native to their own. As the text progresses, she meets Perfecto Flores
who enlightens and educates her on the names and purposes of these tools which proves to be a
pivotal point for Estrella who feels as if she just developed her own language or alphabet . Viramontes

Role Of Women In Society
The role of women in society has changed dramatically over the past few decades. Some may say the
changing of the role is a positive change, but some others may disagree. Women have changed their
lives for men and their ways of life, women have been restricted from using their own money by men,
and also women have had to deal with cleaning up everyone else s messes for years and also years to
come. In the articles and plays that were read several of these roles were demonstrated. In the article
The Total Woman by Marabel Morgan the role of having to adapt to the husbands way of life was
mentioned. Adapt to his way of life wholeheartedly, even if he doesn t come home for weeks. . The

not have to do whatever their husband or significant other tells them to do with their money. Women
in today s society do not have to have permission to spend their own money. The next role may not

Reflection Paper On Substance Abuse
On October 3rd, I attended a meeting that completely opened my eyes on the issue of substance abuse.
The meeting I attended was an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. When thinking about what sort of
recovery event I wanted to experience for this experimental activity the first thing that came to mind
was Alcoholics Anonymous. I have heard of AA but never had an expanded understanding of the
program. The first thing I did was google Alcoholics Anonymous University of Iowa and the rest was
a breeze. The first link that appeared was a University of Iowa Hospitals Clinics page that listed open
AA meetings. So as stated earlier, on Tuesday, October 3rd from 12 pm to 1 pm in Room 5024 Boyd
Tower, I gained a whole new outlook on substance abuse. As soon as I walked into the meeting I was a
slightly intimidated at first. The room was small, about the size of a classroom, and had a conference
table full of people of all ages and different genders. Since I was just observing I decided to sit at a
separate table and take notes on the activities that went on during the meeting. There were about 10
participants taking part in the meeting from ages that ranged from 30 s to 70 s. There was plenty of
diversity in the group of individuals based on personalities also, but not much diversity in ethnicities
as all of the members of this meeting were white. Once the meeting went underway, I knew I was in
for something very interesting. The meeting began with a moment of silence and preamble.

Research Paper On Mike Tyson
You may have seen pictures and videos with odd things in the background. Maybe an onlooker to
something that happened way before Apple that was holding a MacBook. Could it be time travel? Or
is it our minds simply letting us see what we want to believe? Old Apple type footage from 1995

Did someone invent time travel to only go back and watch Mike Tyson fights and Prince before he

A video surfaced showing a Mike Tyson fight in 1995. This itself is not that strange. Well, a sober and

The Physics of a Diesel Engine Essay
The Physics of a Diesel Engine
The world we live in is surrounded by diesel engines. They are on the freeways, railways, airways,
and are one of the leading electricity producers in the world. They are also becoming more popular in
automobiles. These engines are efficient and reliable and they are getting very sophisticated. However,
the physics behind these engines has not changed.
By way of definition, courtesy of Diesel Engine
Engineering: [a] diesel engine is an internal combustion engine in which the chemical energy of fuel is
transformed into thermal energy of the cylinder charge, in consequence of the self ignition and
combustion of fuel in the engine cylinder after compression of the air charge in the cylinder (p1 ...

The piston then travels down pulling in fresh air, (third stroke), after the piston bottoms again it travels
up compressing the fresh air, (fourth stroke). The fuel is then injected and one cycle is completed in
720 degrees or two full rotations of the crankshaft.
The disadvantage of two stroke engines is their dependency on a blower to force air into the chamber
and their inefficiency. A four stroke engine does not have an expansion stroke every 360 degrees but it
is more efficient because it has more time to completely burn the fuel injected into the cylinder.
There are mechanical and fundamental differences between the two stroke and four stroke engines but
the physics remain the same. They both rely upon the compressed air to ignite the pressurized fuel and
the resulting expansion for their power. At first glance it may look like the explosion in the chamber
does the work but upon further inspection you can see the physics involved. There are two questions I
would like to address. The first question is what is the physics behind the compressed air raising the
temperature upwards of 900 degrees. The second question is what is the physics behind the rapid
expansion of the ignited air fuel mixture.
The physics behind the temperature increase of compressed air begins with a fresh charge of air. The
air fills the combustion chamber when the cylinder is at bottom dead center. As the

Justin Ewers is the author for Rewriting the Legend of Paul Revere and brought up facts and evidence
to support the real occurrence of Paul Revere. Longfellow wrote in his poem that Paul Revere was the
only lone rider in his poem warning people about the British coming. On the other hand Justin Ewers
used evidence in the real story that not only was Paul Revere a lone rider but there was 2 other riders
that helped spread the message. In Paul Revere s Ride, it has said that Paul was traveling on a horse
through each town like Lexington and Concord to alert the people. But the real story was that Paul
was writing the horse but his horse was confiscated so he ran all the way to another town. Then the
poem said that Paul achieved what he did and the British scattered away from the fight. What actually
happened was Paul being captured by the British and the British stood their ground to fight. The can
prove different events and evidence about both of the writings. NOT to forget but in the poem it
sounded like Paul and his friend had it all planned to defeat British. BUT actually the Sons of Liberty

Todd Sharram s Safe Theme
Todd Haynes s Safe is a difficult film to analyze for its themes are not simple to decipher. As I write
this paper, no words can justify the concept of the film. Instead, it raises more questions but I will do
my best to answer them. All in all, the film is an eerie, horror movie about the nightmares of the
normal life. It follows the story of a suburban housewife named Carol White (Julianne Moore) who
develops an illness her doctor cannot diagnose and her husband (Xander Berkeley) cannot understand.
The film raises various factors into play such as class, gender, race, self help culture and so on.
The biggest question to answer is whether Carol s illness is real or not. Haynes does not provide his
audience a direct answer to this predicament. Instead, he uses ... Show more content on

I, personally, do not believe that Carol s illness is true physical illness. Although some people
considered the film as a metaphor for the AIDS epidemic in 1995, the film also raises the concept of
an affluenza, or the curse of too much money and too little feelings of self worth. Throughout the
story, Carol shows how hollow and dead she is inside. With her perfect enormous house and perfect
life, it seems as if there is absolutely no reason for her to stress about anything, yet she does. Her life
did not only consists of wealth, but it also consists of empty houses, bored chatter of housewives, the
soulless daily routines, and the lack of connections to her own family. And so, she unconsciously gives
herself a purpose. As crazy as that may sound, fear and the lack of self worth have striking effects on
any individual, even the fortunate ones. From the start of the film, Carol has mentally isolated herself
especially when she makes love with her husband. Her body is present but her mind is

Comparison of Two Historical Art Periods
Comparison of Two Historical Art Periods:
Middle Ages (Gothic) and Renaissance Architecture
Christina Plunkett

IWT1 Humanities Task 1
Gothic style came about in the middle of the twelfth century. It was named after the Goths that
controlled France during that time. It was developed as a result of Christian ideals. Christian leaders
wanted big, tall, ornate churches to represent their strong faith. Later it was also used for non religious
buildings such as castles, walls, bridges, and gates. Citizens of the time period wanted striking, rich
looking churches to represent their success and wealth, also leading to Gothic style. Common Gothic

In the Middle Ages The Black Plague hit the population. Because of a declining population, other
aspects of life were affected negatively such as agriculture and politics. The Renaissance, however,
saw a turn around for Europe. There were new beginnings in the government and the life of it s
citizens. There was a major culture shift from the 14th to the 16th century. In the Middle Ages, many
people were suffering from disease and starvation. It was not a stable time for Europe. The Hundred
Year s War compounded their problems. Europeans lost faith in the church resulting in a decline of
religious faiths. There were a large amount of Popes going through the Catholic Church during that
time known as the Great Schism. The Schism lasted for forty years and resulted from financial
mismanagement in the church. The Renaissance was an opportunity to reform European society.
Humanism became a common philosophy. Individualism and education were now important. Life did
not revolve around religion and the church had less power. More people saw themselves as a greater
being than God. The influence of Renaissance Architecture on the rest of the world was significant.
There are many government buildings in North American that are modeled after the classical,
symmetrical lines of the Renaissance period. Modern architects still study and try to reproduce the
beauty, simplicity, and magnificence of Renaissance

Case Study On Intellectual Property
Based on Zizi s case study, there are some legal issues on intellectual property and the legal methods
that Zizi have to understand so that he may employ to protect his business property.
The purpose of intellectual property is to encourage creativity as well as to ensure reimbursement for
the labour of individuals. There are different type of intellectual property such as patent, trademark,
and copyright.
Patent is concerned about how it works rather than focus on the abstract ideas. In other words, it focus
on the process or method of making of a work or invention. On the other hand, trademark is a symbol

According to the law of breach of confidence in the context of intellectual property is meant to protect

the idea without the permission of Zizi. Therefore, if Andrew uses the idea of Zizi without permission,
Andrew has infringe the breach of confidence.
On the other hand, fiduciary relationship such as partnership and trusts have been held to be relevant
in determining a duty of confidence. For example the case of Morison v Moat (1851). Therefore, if
Zizi found that his partner has break the duty of confidence. Zizi can take action about it.

Darkness Imagery In Macbeth Essay
Ambition and evil are the basic elements in William Shakespeare s Macbeth. Macbeth is a tragedy
which was written by Shakespeare in the Elizabethan Era. There was much use of Raphael Holinshed
s Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland as it was necessary for creating the environments and
situations in the play. Macbeth takes place mainly in Scotland and is a play about an ambitious thane,
named Macbeth, and his wife whose flaws lead to their demise. Since Macbeth is a tragedy, probably
nothing else would be as suitable for the play than darkness imagery. Imagery is a very important
aspect of literature. Many different types of imagery exist and there is at least one dramatic purpose
for each image. By analyzing William Shakespeare s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the imagery creates an ominous atmosphere it would then lead to the second dramatic purpose,
to arouse the emotions of the audience. Darkness imagery is a very good tool for arousing the
emotions of the audience. It enables people to create a mental picture of what they are reading. For
example, Duncan and Macbeth were talking when Macbeth says aside, Stars, hide your fires! Let not
light see my black and deep desires. When words like black and desire are put in that context it creates
many horrible mental pictures about murders and fights which arouses peoples emotions. Ross is later
talking with an old man when he states By the clock `tis day, and yet dark night strangles the traveling
lamp. In other words; although, the sun should be out, something is blocking the light. This example
of darkness imagery creates an eerie feeling in the reader because it is very abnormal for the sun to be
blocked. To help this example of imagery, the sun can also symbolize a monarch or king. Another case
of darkness imagery happens when Lady Macbeth and a messenger are talking and Lady Macbeth
states, That my keen knife see not the wound it makes, nor heaven peep through the blanket of the
dark to cry, Hold, hold! It creates an sensation of terror in the reader because of the something that is
unknown. With night covering the earth like a blanket, no one knows what might happen. Also, Lady
Macbeth seems to explain that her attack will be blind. She

Descartes Essay
In the early 17th century a philosopher named Descartes, questioned his existence. His life was
dedicated to the founding of a philosophical and mathematical system in which all sciences were
logical.
Descartes was born in 1596 in Touraine, France. His education consisted of attendance to a Jesuit
school of La Fleche. He studied a liberal arts program that emphasized philosophy, the humanities,
science, and math. He then went on to the University of Poitiers where he graduated in 1616 with a
law degree. Descartes also served as a volunteer in several different armies to broaden his horizons.

His God must also be omnipotent to do the things he wished to describe later, so he proved God to be
omnipotent. The main literary work in which he published these proofs was his Meditations. The other
major philosophical work, which was publisher later, was his Discourse on Method. These two main
works have paved the path for modern philosophy throughout the world. Although Descartes proved
the existence of God, he did not believe him to be imminent, but rather, transcendent. He was by
definition a Deity. He believed that God created the world and the laws by which it works. Then, set
the cosmos in motion by these natural laws and simply watches it operate.
Once Descartes proved his own existence and that of God s, he proceeded on to the sciences. He
showed that mathematics was the truest of all sciences. Descartes studied math intensely at the Jesuit
school. His zeal for the subject continued into his later life. Gradually, he became more and more
disgusted with the current system of math. He sought to revise it and ended up revolutionizing it. Math
today is based upon the Cartesian system. Descartes is called the quot;Father of Modern Mathematics
quot; for several reasons. His major contribution is the application of algebra to geometry. In his
treatise, Geometry, Descartes reveals his analytic geometry. Analytic geometry allows any curve to be
addressed from an algebraic view by means of a coordinate system. This is taught to all

redemption through chaos. I believe in that. I think that s the basis of Greek mythology , Brendan
Fraser once said about the idea of all Greek Gods and myths. The people of ancient Greece would
look up to various gods, depending on what they were seeking. Apollo s name translates to strength ,
as he displayed this trait throughout his lifetime and had to be emotionally and physically stronger at
times for the people of Ancient Greece. Apollo was a man of trust who excelled and supported all of
the fine arts of the Greek civilization such as music, art, and poetry (God Apollo). One of the most
underestimated traits of Apollo was his healing powers, in which he helped out many Greeks in
desperate times, like the Trojan War (Cartwright). The Greek God Apollo was the most influential
among Greek people because of his recognition for music, the truth, and healing powers. Apollo was
born on the Greek island of Delios, from his parents Zeus and Leto (Regula). Zeus was the god of the
Olympians who also controlled lightning and thunder, and Leto was the goddess of motherhood
(Atsma). Apollo was a god who had a clear idea of what was right from wrong and lived with the idea
of that the Greek society could live under peace and harmony and follows the laws that were put into

Service Is An Important Part Of The Global Economy Essay
Services are intangible activities or benefits that an organization provides to satisfy consumers needs
in exchange for money or something else of value (Kerin, Hartley 322). Service are an important part
in the global economy. Services are now apart of the GDP. There are four elements of services which
are intangibility, inconsistency, inseparability, and inventory. Intangibility means it can not be touched,
held, or seen before the purchase. These services help consumers to get information or show the
benefits of their product. Inconsistency is developing, pricing, promoting, and delivering services is
complicated because the quality of service is often inconsistent. This is because these services require
people to do them, and different people work differently. Inseparably have problem of consistency.
Consumers can not separate the delivered of the service from the service itself. The amount of
interaction between consumer and the service depends on the extent to which the consumer must be
physically present to review the service. Finally, there is inventory which are different from products
and are perishable. The four I s provide mulplie services that ompanies are not cleary service based or

Insider Trading And Trading Of A Public Company
Before we can delve into the topic of Insider Trading it is important to understand what insider trading
and what are its implications. Let us begin with the definitions of insider trading:
Insider trading is the trading of a public company s stock or other securities (such as bonds or stock
options) by individuals with access to non public information about the company. In various countries,
insider trading based on inside information is illegal. This is because it is seen as unfair to other
investors who do not have access to the information. Wikipedia, 2014
Insider trading is defined as a malpractice wherein trade of a company s securities is undertaken by
people who by virtue of their work have access to the otherwise non public information which can be
crucial for making investment decisions.
ET, 2014
We must note here that insider trading has two aspects: legal insider trading and illegal insider trading
:
Insider trading can be illegal or legal depending on when the insider makes the trade: it is illegal when
the material information is still non public trading while having special knowledge is unfair to other
investors who don t have access to such knowledge. Illegal insider trading therefore includes tipping
others when you have any sort of non public information. Directors are not the only ones who have the
potential to be convicted of insider trading. People such as brokers and even family members can be
guilty.
The legal version is when

The History And Social Impact Of The Circus Freak Show
The History and Social Impact of the Circus Freak Show Since it s humble beginning in the mid 16th
century, the circus and freak show act has been entertaining and horrifying people to this day;
however, in today s ultra sensitive society, how has the classic freak show evolved to be deemed
acceptable and be used to promote acceptance and positive views of people with abnormalities, rather
than viewing these people as freaks , as was the original purpose of the classic freak show ?
Popularized in the mid 16th century, the circus freak show became a common pastime in England.
People with deformities and disabilities began being treated less as humans, and more as sources of
interest and entrainment, and the crowds would gather to see these people exhibited. A notable early
display was that of conjoined twins Lazarus and Johannes Baptista Colloredo. As described by History
Magazine, Lazarus was thought to be quite handsome, appearing otherwise perfectly healthy, but for
his conjoined twin brother. Joannes Baptista protruded, upside down, from his brother s chest. He was
significantly smaller than Lazarus, and only his upper body and left leg visibly extended from his
brother s torso (Strange and Bizarre:). Based off this description it is no wonder why the brothers
became a popular exhibition at the court of King Charles I. Though the freak show was initially a
display for the upper class, it would not take long for people to see the profitability of these acts.

Television And Reality Television Shows Essay
The media as a whole has been a huge impact on their viewers lives. People do not just watch a
television show, they tend to normalize the characters and their roles into their day to day lives. When
analyzing the media and focusing on drama and reality television shows, the impact that these shows
have on some of their women viewers are noticeable. Television drama shows are fictions that the
average person can relate to. They are made with real life problems that people can sympathize with.
Television dramas have become the newest therapy to people. People go to these over dramatized
shows for the answer to their problems. Most tend to forget that these are fictional television shows,
meaning they are made up characters with false problems. These shows tend to show women as the
house wife, pretty and skinny, and powerful but weak minded. When looking at reality television
although it is unscripted and tend to be real life situations, producers do pick out cast that are not
relatable to and unlike the average person. On television dramas and reality shows men tend to be
shown as dominating women in relationships, as women are shown as the men s trophy. Also, as a
whole television dramas and reality shows show women as sexy figures, emotionally unstable, and
less than a man which effects their everyday lives. Television dramas and reality shows has a negative

Nothing is quite beautiful alone; nothing but is beautiful in the whole. A single object is only so far
beautiful as it suggests this universal grace. written by Ralph Waldo Emerson in Nature highlights the

Stuck in our own world only we see what is in front of us restricting us from seeing the larger whole
of our real home. Captured on apple devices and compiled in an advertisement, Earth Shot on iPhone

Using A Stock Trading System Based On Prediction Models...
The dissertation project addresses the problem of trying to build a stock trading system based on
prediction models obtained with daily stock quotes data. We will apply different models to predict the
returns of IBM stocks at the New York Stock Exchange. These predictions will be used together with a
trading rule that will generate buy and sell signals. This chapter addresses several new data mining
issues: (1) how to use R to analyze data stored in a database; (2) how to handle prediction problems
where there is a time ordering among training cases (usually known as a time series); (3) and the
consequences of wanting to translate model predictions into actions.
3.1 Problem description and objectives
Stock market trading is an application domain with a big potential for data mining. In effect, the
existence of an enormous amount of historical data suggests that data mining can provide a
competitive advantage over human inspection of this data. On the other hand there are authors
claiming that the markets adapt so rapidly in terms of price adjustments that there is no space to obtain
profits in a consistent way. This is usually known as the efficient markets hypothesis. This theory has
been successively replaced by more relaxed versions that leave some space for trading opportunities.
The general goal of stock trading is to maintain a portfolio of stocks based on buy and sell orders. The
long term objective is to achieve as much profit as possible from these trading

Comparison Of Soccer Balls
Background
Although a soccer ball may look like a sphere is not a real sphere. When you look closely at the actual
ball you will see that it is polyhedron made of different shapes. A polyhedron is a three dimensional
object composed of flat polygon sides typically connected at the edges (Wolfram 1999). The most
common shape of modern soccer balls is called a truncated icosahedron. Icosahedron is a shape made
up of 20 triangles. To create a more round object the icosahedron is truncated. Here, truncated applies
to cutting off the edges which makes the icosahedron look more round ( Icosahedron, 2014). The
truncated icosahedron has 32 total faces including 12 regular pentagons and 20 regular hexagons with

12) Now repeat the previous steps 11 more times to create the 12 regular pentagons. Always check
that the compass and lines are 5 cm. B) Create a regular hexagon
To draw a regular hexagon we followed the instructions provided online (Hartley, 2013).
1) Set the radius of the compass to 5 cm. It is critical that it stays at this length. Throughout the
process check that the length stays at 5 cm.
2) Draw a line 5 cm long and label the points A and B (.
3) Draw 2 small arcs centered at point A and point B towards the center of the line AB. Label the point
where the two arcs cross as point 1. This is the center of the regular hexagon and the vertices of the
hexagon will be on a circle centered at this point.
4) Initially draw a full circle centered at point 1. In future steps you only need to draw arcs near where
the vertices occur.
5) Using point B as the center, draw a short arc that crosses the circle. Label the point of intersection

The Respect of Soldier s Rank
In the U.S. Military services, rank determines who gets to tell whom what to do. The higher one s rank
the more authority (and responsibility) they have. U.S. Military personnel fall into one of three
categories: (1) enlisted members, (2) warrant officers, and (3) commissioned officers. Warrant officers
outrank all enlisted members, and commissioned officers outrank all warrant officers and enlisted
members.
Rank and pay grade are closely associated terms, but not quite the same. Pay grade is an
administrative classification, associated with a member s pay. Rank is a title and denotes the member s
level of authority and responsibility. An E 1 is the lowest enlisted pay grade. That person s rank is a

military for the first time in 1817, when cadets at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., wore
them on their sleeves. From West Point, chevrons spread to the Army and Marine Corps. The
difference then was chevrons were worn points down until 1902, when Army and Marine Corps
enlisted personnel switched to the present points up configuration.Navy and Coast Guard petty
officers trace their insignia heritage to the British. Petty officers were assistants to the officers aboard
ship. The title wasn t a permanent rank and the men served at the captain s pleasure. Petty officers lost
their rank when the crew was paid off at the end of a voyage. In 1841, Navy petty officers received
their first rank insignia an eagle perched on an anchor. Ratings job skills were incorporated into the
insignia in 1866. In 1885, the Navy designated three classes of petty officers first, second and third.
They added chevrons to designate the new ranks. The rank of chief petty officer was established in
1894.During World War II, the Army adopted technician grades. Technicians of a given grade earned
the same pay and wore the same insignia as equivalent noncommissioned officers except for a small T
centered under the chevrons. Technicians, despite the stripes, had no command authority over troops.
This evolved into the specialist ranks, pay grades E 4 to E 7.

A Prayer For Owen Meany A Humor Analysis
Humor is difficult to incorporate in writing, yet John Irving captures the essence of humor beautifully
in A Prayer for Owen Meany through the use literary techniques and strategies. Although the stories
themselves are hilarious, Irving s writing creativity evokes laughter in the most inapt scenes like
Grandma Wheelwright forgets her own grandson. A scene between Barb Wiggin and Owen Meany is
particularly funny, and to showcase his jocular writing style in the scene, Irving manipulates
punctuation, diction, description to create one of the many unforgettable and comical scenes in the
book. Punctuation is a major part of writing because it creates meaning within sentences. And John
Irving uses it liberally. Throughout the book, many words

Essay On Correctly Identifying The Sex Of Skeletal Remains
Correctly identifying the sex of skeletal remains is a forensic professional s first and foremost priority,
and usually, a complete skeleton can be rare due to issues such as environmental factors, taphonomic
processes or animal scavengers. Traditionally, the bones of the pelvis and skull have been used the
most commonly in estimating sex in skeletal remains, with the pubic bone being the greatest sex
indicator (Klales, Ousley and Vollner, 2012). These are seen as robust and strong parts of the skeleton
(especially the mandible) that have a high probability of surviving the best after long periods of time
as they are protected parts of the body that can be well weathered (Kumar and Lokanadham, 2013).
The pelvis and the skull are the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 2 shows a study that used living participants that underwent radiographs, this type of
measuring device is a preferred technique as it is more precise (Igbigbi and Nanono Igbigbi, 2003).
However, a limitation of this study is that alive participants were used, like in many other studies too.
This means that all data the recorded and analysed were be based off living people, and in a forensic
context, there will mainly only be decomposed remains to take measurements from. This study, and
many others will not have taken into account, for example, the symphyseal fibrocartilage where the
two pubic bones meet thus forming the subpubic angle. This could cause discrepancies in the size of
the angle itself, as this decomposes after death, causing the two innominates to separate. As well as
this dry bones may be smaller, also affecting the angles and because of this, it is important to quantify
angles based off a model similar to the remains that the model will be applied to, which is skeletonised
remains.
Figure 2 shows a roentgenograph of a pelvis to illustrate the subpubic angle that was measured
(Igbigbi and Nanono Igbigbi, 2003).
The aim of this research is to see if there is any sexual dimorphism between the gonial angles and the
subpubic angles of a

  • 2. Genetically Modified Food ( Gm Food ) Introduction Genetic engineering or biotechnology can be applied to different fields such as animal biology, agriculture, or in microorganism. [8] Ever since the first genetically modified food (GM food) Flavr Savr tomato was invented in 1994 [16], genetically modified food has been at the center of controversy in terms of its suitability for human consumption and its effect on the biodiversity of naturally evolved organisms. Monsanto is the largest GM seed producer in North America to the extend that 80 percent of U.S. corn and 93 percent of soy grown from Monsanto patented GMO seeds. [17] Monsanto has a tremendous influence and control over the marketing and production of global seed industries. [17] According to a scientific journal report , GM fed mice could be related to the reduction in digestive enzyme synthesis [9], suggesting that the consumption of GM food may impair our digestion, and that individuals may be sensitive and vulnerable to a variety of foods. [9] Another concern with GM food is its impact on biodiversity. However, the issues surrounding biodiversity may differ from region to region [5]; for instance, developed countries have less farmland to produce GM food by comparison to their developing counterparts. Therefore, the impact of GM food on biodiversity may be less pronounced in developed countries. However, the common environmental impact brought on by the cultivation of GM food is: a change in ecosystems and biodiversity, habitat change, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Argumentative Essay On Donald Trump While Liu chooses his ten main ten things to be mostly politics, I will do almost the same. The most important person in America is always the president, so naturally, I will include Donald Trump on my list. Secondly, along the lines of politics will be Net Neutrality. I don t have a strong opinion on it myself, but I do believe it is essential to know the ins and outs of it due to how important the internet is. The third topic will be pure politics. Hirsh did not include the simple word of politics, so I will add it myself. The fourth will be Elon Musk, a tech giant. Finally is video games, which is something dear to my heart, and also ingrained in most of society. This should be learned by any American or soon to be American due to their importance on America s culture. Donald Trump, America s current president. He didn t come to power easily. But that is what makes him so important. Trump s biggest feature was that he was never politically correct, and still is not to this day. Many people saw this as a good thing to have in a president. He wouldn t be pushed aside by some foreign country. Trump is also different from the previous president in that he was a large businessman, he was a billionaire. • 4. Trinity Theory The Trinity The Trinity is the foundation in which Christianity is laid upon. Each of the three figures are crucial to understanding the religion. Without understanding one of these, a person cannot fully grasp Christianity. The Trinity is a theory that attempts to explain exactly what is Jesus to God and God to the Holy Spirit. Having said that, it begs the question, what is the explanation given by the Trinity? The Trinity is a representation of the holy or godly figures in Christianity; The Father , Jesus The Son , and the Holy Spirit. (Christian Beliefs PowerPoint). Specifically, it states that The Father , Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all God (Bart Ehrman on the Origins of the Trinity). Bart states in his YouTube video, Bart Ehrman on the Origins of the Trinity, that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all equal in power because they are all embodiments of God himself but, he reiterates that, there is still only one God. This conundrum basically equates to a theorem stating that 1=1 and at the same time, 1=3. After coming to that conclusion, Bart Ehrman offers a ground for solace, stating The Trinity is a mystery, a person cannot understand it, that is why it is a mystery. (Bart Ehrman on the Origins of the Trinity) This contradicts the statements in the beginning of the essay, saying a person must understand the Trinity in order to grasp Christianity. Alzheimer s Association states that deaths due to Alzheimer s Disease increased sixty eight percent from the year 2000 to the year 2010. • 6. Compare And Contrast Alice In Wonderland And Alward... The director, Tim Burton, uses Alice in Wonderland and Edward Scissorhands to reveal his signature storytelling style of contrasting the Iindividual againstversus society. This is shown through the plot of the two films as well as the characters of Alice and Edward, and the setting of Wonderland versus London and Edwards castle vs the town. The director s purpose was to reveal the idea that when people are placed in a different surrounding and situation it can be confusing, and they need help to understand it. Tim Burton s key signature styles of individual versus society is shown through the plot of the two films. In Edward Scissorhands an individual is found in a castle by a woman, the woman takes Edward into her home. Edward is introduced to the society who are all very cautious of him at first but they are very impressed by his talents and they take full advantage of them. Edward had a bit of an outburst following a disagreement between himself and Jim (Kim s boyfriend). Edward then runs away and returns, Kevin is walking around looking for Edward when he is nearly hit by a car Edward then saves him. From a bystander s point of view it would look as if Edward is trying to hurt Kevin as he tries to get up from the floor. The people see this and want Edward dead. Similarly in Alice in Wonderland we also see Alice being pressured from two societies, one being her home of London where she is pressured by family and friends to marry someone she doesn t wish to marry. In Wonderland she is pressured by the people Wonderland to be Alice and kill the jabberwocky. Through both these stories, the director is portraying the wider idea that a change of environment can be scary as the individual doesn t know who to trust and where to go.This idea is shown through a range of film techniques such as close ups, long shots and extreme close ups in order to reveal aspects of setting and characterisation. In the two films, the director shows similarities between the two locations one being in Edward Scissorhands which is Edward s castle and location one of Alice in Wonderland which is Wonderland. The disadvantage of two stroke engines is their dependency on a blower to force air into the chamber and their inefficiency. A four stroke engine does not have an expansion stroke every 360 degrees but it is more efficient because it has more time to completely burn the fuel injected into the cylinder. There are mechanical and fundamental differences between the two stroke and four stroke engines but the physics remain the same. They both rely upon the compressed air to ignite the pressurized fuel and the resulting expansion for their power. At first glance it may look like the explosion in the chamber does the work but upon further inspection you can see the physics involved. There are two questions I would like to address. Individualism and education were now important. Life did not revolve around religion and the church had less power. More people saw themselves as a greater being than God. The influence of Renaissance Architecture on the rest of the world was significant. There was much use of Raphael Holinshed s Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland as it was necessary for creating the environments and situations in the play. Macbeth takes place mainly in Scotland and is a play about an ambitious thane, named Macbeth, and his wife whose flaws lead to their demise. Darkness imagery is a very good tool for arousing the emotions of the audience. It enables people to create a mental picture of what they are reading. For example, Duncan and Macbeth were talking when Macbeth says aside, Stars, hide your fires! Let not light see my black and deep desires. When words like black and desire are put in that context it creates many horrible mental pictures about murders and fights which arouses peoples emotions. Ross is later talking with an old man when he states By the clock `tis day, and yet dark night strangles the traveling lamp. In other words; although, the sun should be out, something is blocking the light. This example of darkness imagery creates an eerie feeling in the reader because it is very abnormal for the sun to be blocked. To help this example of imagery, the sun can also symbolize a monarch or king. Another case of darkness imagery happens when Lady Macbeth and a messenger are talking and Lady Macbeth states, That my keen knife see not the wound it makes, nor heaven peep through the blanket of the dark to cry, Hold, hold! It creates an sensation of terror in the reader because of the something that is unknown. With night covering the earth like a blanket, no one knows what might happen. Popularized in the mid 16th century, the circus freak show became a common pastime in England. People with deformities and disabilities began being treated less as humans, and more as sources of interest and entrainment, and the crowds would gather to see these people exhibited. As well as this dry bones may be smaller, also affecting the angles and because of this, it is important to quantify angles based off a model similar to the remains that the model will be applied to, which is skeletonised remains. Figure 2 shows a roentgenograph of a pelvis to illustrate the subpubic angle that was measured (Igbigbi and Nanono Igbigbi, 2003). The aim of this research is to see if there is any sexual dimorphism between the gonial angles and the subpubic angles of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
