Spina Bifida Disorder
Spina Bifida Spina Bifida literally means split spine . It is the most common permanent disabling birth
defect in the United States. It happens when the brain, spinal cord do not completely develop. It is the
most common neural tube defect in the United States affecting 1500 to 2000 of more than four million
babies in each year. An estimate shows 166,000 individual lives with Spina Bifida in the United
States. I choose this disorder because many people do not about the effects, causes, symptoms and
treatments about the disorder and I wanted to know more about spina bifida. Symptoms: Symptoms of
Spina Bifida depend on different types of diseases and how badly it affects the spinal cord and its
surrounding. Spina bifida occulta is the mildest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The prevalence went down from Oct 1998 to Dec 1999 was 2.02 per 10,000 live births. It reduced by
22.9% (Mark, 2016). Later in the years from 1999 2000 and 2003 2005, the prevalence of spina bifida
falls by 6.9%. The reason of the decrease is still unknown. This decreases the prevalence of spina
bifida with black population, but not within the white or Hispanic population. Those frequencies about
spina bifida had been evaluated toward 1 2 cases for every 1000 population, with certain population
hosting a greater frequency based on genetic predilection. Research showed folate can reduce spina
bifida by 70% and decrease the severity of the disease. Myelomeningocele is the most common form
of spina bifida. In the United States, approximately 1500 babies are born with myelomeningocele each
year (Mark, 2016). The myelomeningocele and other neural tube defect had been declined since 20th
century. According to CDC, the prevalence of spina bifida is higher in white and Hispanic population,
than in the black population. According to Mark, spina bifida is detected 2 and 1.96 per in 10,000 live
birth in Hispanic and white population and 1.74 per 10,000 live birth in black

Poverty In Haiti Essay
During the 18th century, France possessed the colony known to them as Saint Domingue, an island in
the Caribbean Sea. Possessing valuable resources and optimal conditions for growing expensive crops
such as sugar, France dedicated much of their money into this little island, allowing Saint Domingue
to become the most wealthy colony in this time period. However, the Haitian slaves revolted against
the French colonial rulers, resulting in the only completely successful slave rebellion in history.
However, the cost of the war, natural disasters, and a French independence tax very soon crippled the
former colony, leading to an almost instantaneous decline in the country s wealth and prosperity.
Today, Haiti has the shameful title of the poorest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the arguments that they might bring up happen to avoid some of the details that in actuality
create a need for further government involvement, not the same amount. According to the World
Bank, poverty rates did indeed drop about 7%, and schools gained more students than ever before. (
Extreme poverty drops ). While the article does indeed highlight the decrease in extreme poverty and
increase in school enrollment, the rest of the paragraph shows just how the country has a long way to
go. To start, the 7% decrease in poverty was over the span of 13 years. Even if the amount of time was
not present, those who climbed out of poverty accounts for about 200,000 people, in a country that
houses over 10 million. According to another article by the National Public Radio, the rates of death
after natural disasters like Hurricane Matthew decreased, and the health of the survivors was better
than after other storms (Beaubien). Mass death is never a good thing, and even though less of it is
almost always a good thing, the amount of those who died after Hurricane Matthew is still tragic and
unacceptable. Haiti s government did indeed lower the death rates, but the rates to which they were
lowered are still

The Change Theory Of Nursing Model
Framework The Change Theory of Nursing Model will be used to facilitate change in the unit because
it will drive the patient in a desired direction (Nursing Theory, 2016). The model, developed by Kurt
Lewin, uses three stages of change. Before change can be implemented the agent goes through
unfreezing, experiencing the change, and refreezing (Nursing Theory, 2016). Unfreezing This phase
involves focusing on the staff s mindfulness for the necessity of change based on the evidence
collected by an infection control committee. This phase is necessary to overcome the tensions of
individual resistance and group compliance (Nursing Theory, 2016). Using three methods is how this
phase is achieved. First, redirecting the behavior away from the existing situation. Second, reducing
the restricting forces that have a negative affect on the movement. Lastly, using a combination of the
two methods mentioned above. Experiencing the Change This stage is where the staff will be required
to view the education power point on the new CAUTI prevention tool. The staff will then take a post
education competency test to demonstrate proficiency of the risks and complications of CAUTIs as
well as the prevention tool. Nurses are encouraged to assess the need to continue the Foley each shift
and offer patients an urinal, commode, or bedpan when needed. When indications are no longer met,
the RN is to call the doctor for Foley removal. Refreezing This is where establishing the change

How Did The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire occurred on the 25 March 1911. In the Asch building, on the
eighth, ninth, and tenth floor there were around 500 workers present. To avoid theft all the doors on
the floors was locked, except one.The door that was unlocked happened to be surrounded by fire so
there was no escape. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory was owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris.
These factories specialized in making women s blouses. Women that worked there were mainly
European and Jewish immigrants that were trying to make some money. Since they made that decision
they were faced with poverty and horrible working conditions. The immigrants also had to suffer
through a new language and that made them an easy target for people

Examples Of Mechanical Inelasticity In Modern Times
Henri Bergson believes mechanical inelasticity (Bergson ) is essential to laughter. In Chaplin s movie
Modern Times, there are many illustrations of such technique that not only composes humorous but
also contribute to its theme capitalists exploit low social status workers. After giving the very basic
elements of laughter: lack of emotions, connection to human traits, relationship to social context
Bergson introduces mechanical inelasticity as the main cause of his main idea regard to laughter.
Inelasticity is rigidness. When people are insensitive to changes and remains the last state of their
bodies, their bodies are lack of elasticity. The example provided by Bergson is when someone falls,

People laugh harder at his clumsiness when he screws his coworker s nose than when, during his first
break, he keeps the screwing movement without the wrenches. This scene serves crucial role in the
movie. It shows both sarcasm and humorous. The president is a representation of the upper class
people. He has power; he controls the speed of the assembly lines. He is cruelcurial; he cares only
about the profit and exploits the workers like they are machines. While the mechanical movement
rises laughter, it also exposes the dark society during the great depression.
A similar example is the scene which Tramp wears skates and is being robbed when he is the night
watchman of a department store. The robbers threaten him with a gun and ask him to stay where he is,
but Tramp cannot control his own movement wearing the skates. He stumbles and falls. The robbers
fire and break the wine cask. Tramp becomes drunk and even harder to control his movement. His
movements when he should stay still are the prolonged momentum during inappropriate situations.
People laugh at his inability to control himself, which is exactly the inelasticity Bergson states in

Discussion Questions On Marcel Duchamp s Urinal Painting
Kimberly Greene Professor Whiting HUMN 2002 Art March 11, 2017 Art Assessment II Task 1:
Artist: Marcel Duchamp Title: Fountain Signed: R. Mutt Year: 1917 Task 2: Do you think this is art?
Is it art or not, why? Yes, I believe that Marcel Duchamp s urinal painting is considered art because it
served as some type of meaning or purpose to him. He was inspired in some way to paint this type of
artwork/painting. One can interpret it in more ways than one. Some may not even understand it, but
somehow Duchamp did and that is all that matters. So, therefore, this is what led to him painting such
a feature and that is why I would consider it as a piece of art. Task 3: Find information on Fountain.
Consider concepts. (Write additional notes here.) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His famous painting, titled Fountain, is viewed as one of Duchamp s most famous works and is widely
seen as an icon of 20th century art. (Tate). Therefore, I believe if it changed how people viewed
Conceptual art and artwork throughout that era/time period, then it is considered as such a famous
piece of artwork. While some may not understand the point of Duchamp s painting of the urinal,
others find much needed purpose to it. If it outlined and changed such an era/time period of art, then I
would say Duchamp set a new limit on what is to be or not to be considered art. I believe art is what
comes from the inside the inner soul and what draws through because what lies within you, serves as a
meaning to not only you, but to others as well. While, some people look at a piece of art or artwork
and somehow find no meaning to it, and think, Oh, I could have done that by just dabbing or throwing
a little paint on the canvas, others find meanings to these pieces of artwork. To me, I believe that all
artwork has a meaning and serves a purpose to the artist and/or painter. While we may not understand
all of the concepts highlighted in a painting, such as this one, or in any such artwork, I believe that we
can still get something out of it, as a whole. By saying this, I believe that this is exactly what
Duchamp did and believed, that you couldn t define art, and that is why I consider Duchamp s famous
piece, Fountain, which drastically changed the views/concepts of Conceptual art period/era, a piece of

Lakers Vs. Los Angeles Clippers
In L.A there is a battle, a battle of who is the best basketball team in the city. The Los Angeles Lakers
or the Los Angeles Clippers. This whole rivalry started in 1984 when the Clippers moved to L.A. The
Clippers originally played their games in the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, while the Lakers
were winning championships in the Forum. In their first matchup the Lakers won 108 103, and with
that a crosstown rivalry was born the Associated Press wrote. While the Clippers were rebuilding, the
Lakers had put together a super team dubbed Showtime. With Magic Johnson running the whole thing
and 38 year old Kareem Abdul Jabbar in the post, and with that duo the Lakers won the championship
in the 84 85 season. By 1986, the Lakers were still undefeated against the Clippers. Magic Johnson
also won his first MVP award. In 1987, the Lakers won the The Finals again, winning their 4 title in
franchise history, and their second since the Clippers moved to L.A. In the 1987 88 NBA season the
Lakers won another Finals against the Detroit Pistons a.k.a the Bad Boys, going back to back. In 1992,
the Clippers had their first winning season since 1978 79 and their first playoff appearance since 1976.

Fingerprint Identification
1. INTRODUCTION In order to protect users of computer systems and to secure network based
transactions, demand is increasing for improved user authentication procedures to establish the
identity of an actual user and to bar access to a terminal to anyone who is unauthorized. Personal
identification using biometrics, i.e., a person s physical or behavioral characteristics has come to
attract increased attention as a possible solution to this issue and one that might offer reliable systems
at a reasonable cost. While traditionally this technology has been available only with such expensive,
high end systems as those used in law enforcement and other government applications, today many

application of this technology used to enhance human machine interactions will also be considered.
3. FINGERPRINT SENSING TECHNOLOGY:
A Fingerprint is a pattern of fine ridges and valleys (spaces between ridges) on the surface of a finger
and fingerprint sensor makes a digitized image of it. The sensing resolution is 500ppi (pixel per inch;
also known as 500dpi, i.e., dots per inch) in most cases, which is equivalent to 20 pixels in 1
millimeter. The obtained image size is typically in the range of between 300*300 and 512*512 pixels,
which makes the area covering the fingerprint between 15 to 25 millimeters square.
FINGERPRINT SENSING TYPES:
a. Conventional prism Type Optical Sensor
Optical sensors using a prism have long been used as a common (and formerly the only) capture
device. In them, the light from an LED illuminates a finger placed on a prism and its reflected image
is captured by a small, optical sensing device (e.g., a CCD or CMOS imager chip), as in Fig.2. This
device operates basically on the principle of

Cultural Aspects Of Sexy Salsa Dance
As different groups of people move from one geographic location to another, they bring various
aspects of their heritage with them, including the dance forms characteristic of their culture. While in a
new location, these cultural aspects can serve to unify people of a common ethnicity, giving them a
physical expression of their collective identity. On the other hand, when a minority group of people
practices its dance forms in a new geographic location, dominant groups of people often adopt them.
Failing to understand the social significance and original meanings of such dances, the majority group
appropriates several aspects of the dance forms while changing other aspects in order to make them fit
better within its cultural ideologies. In this way, cultural appropriation of dance forms dissolves some
of their original cultural meanings, as is exemplified by the transmission of salsa dance from a Latin
American social dance to a Western ballroom dance, changing its nature from an expression of
cultural unity to an exotic experience. Performed primarily in social dance clubs, salsa is a fluid and
dynamic dance. The movement of the dancers originates from their hips, which move constantly
throughout the dance (Sexy Salsa Dancing). This in turn leads to the dancers having a dynamic and
flexible spine, weight shifts propelled by core body movement often resulting in weight suspended
between the feet, [and] flexed knees and a lower center of gravity (Malnig 304). The

Analysis Of Coronation Of The Virgin By Gengtile Da Fabriano
Once gracing the lavish floor of Getty Center, the Coronation of the Virgin which was painted by the
extraordinary Italian artist Gentile da Fabriano in 1420, attracted many attentions by its sacredness,
powerfulness and magic of the Christ. At 36 ⅝ inches and 25 ¼ inches size tempera, Christ gently
places the ornate gold grown upon Virgin Mary s slightly bowed head by the watching of angels from
either side as she becomes the Queen of Heaven. Since the first century, Christianity has played an
important role in Western Art, which has inspired numerous artists in making their masterpieces.
However, artists must follow the religious rules to build up the imagery of the Christ, and educate
audience about the religious. Coronation of the Virgin by Fabriano is a perfect presentation of that.
Gorgeously. Striking. Grace. The golden painting is taking up by the two most iconic symbols of
Christianity: Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary. Christ gently placing a golden grown on the inclined head
of the Virgin Mary, who is sitting on the right side of Jesus; her hands crossed over her chest symbolist
of humble, reverent and loyalty. This position was purposely set by Fabriano. In Christianity art,
position is significant in dividing between good manners and malefactors. For instance, in The Last
Judgment by Giotto di Bondone in 1305, heaven was placed on right of Christ, and hell was on the
left. This ideology was clearly stated in the bible ...before him shall be gathered all nations:

Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
The last chapter of Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart concludes with the sentence:
He had already chosen the title of the book, after much thought: The Pacification of the Primitive
Tribes of the Lower Niger.
This refers to the District Commissioner s chosen title for a book he has written that would have the
African people, the Igbo tribe specifically, as the main subject. From the title itself, one can say that
the writer has an unfavorable bias against his subject. But come to think of it, there are many factors
why it would be impossible for the District Commissioner to write an accurate description of the
culture he s trying to write about. How can he do so when he knows very little ... Show more content

By using different proverbs, folktales and song that is originally written in the Igbo language, the
author has managed to convey the beauty of his native language to the readers. In the book, the
colonial masters have ridiculed the said language and called them superfluous words , showing no
appreciation at all of the beautiful and expressive language of the Umuofians. They have even come to
the conclusion that their tribe was a primitive one. They have also said that the native customs are bad
and their ceremonies and sacrifices as frivolous . In the Chapter Twenty of the book, there s a
conversation between Okonkwo and Obierika in which the latter rightly stated:
Does the white man understand our custom about land? How can he when he does not speak our
tongue?
The language barrier between the colonists and the colonized enables critical misunderstandings to
take place. The idea of someone vilifying certain customs and traditions in which he is unfamiliar is
very laughable. The District Commissioner was therefore very misguided when he called the Igbo as a
primitive tribe. .His statement contradicts very much with the fact that the Igbo people have their own
complex language and a highly organized mode of living. The concept of being superior to others
always finds a way to get into the picture somehow. Most of the European colonizers

Thomas Jefferson s Relationship With The Barbary Pirates...
If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and
never will be. These words from Thomas Jefferson provide insight into a man who was a complicated,
dynamic character in the founding of the young United States. Every president has a moment or event
that defines his path in history. Though it was a test for him and his administration, the Barbary Wars
proved Thomas Jefferson to be a strong president in his handling of foreign affairs.
The meaning for the name Barbary is a region in between the sixteenth century until the nineteenth

The relationship with the Barbary Pirates begins on September, 1780. The Committee for Foreign
Affairs received a letter from the Emperor of Morocco formally recognizing their new independence
and proposing that the two states negotiate a peace treaty and trade agreement. However the colonies
were in the midst of the Revolutionary War and for several years the United States did not address the
Emperor s request. Frustrated by the United States, Emperor Muhammad ordered his corsairs to
capture an American ship in order to force the Americans to negotiating.
When the Revolutionary War ended in 1783, the French left the U.S. merchant fleet on its own making
Americans easy prey for pirates in the Mediterranean. Attacks on merchant vessels raised concern
about what to do to protect maritime commerce. Jefferson, a diplomat at this time, and later a
Secretary of State and Vice President, advocated for the use of military force against the Barbary
States and their privateers. The United States was attacking because they were irritated in paying the
ransom for their sailors; they thought that the ocean should be free that no one should control the

Bombardier Inc. Case
Bombardier Inc. is Canada based manufacturer of air and ground mobility solutions. Firm s
operational activity can be split into 4 units: Bombardier Transportation (BT), Bombardier
Aerostructures and Engineering Services (BAES), Bombardier Commercial Aircraft (BCA) and
Bombardier Business Aircraft (BBA). Firm s 2014 performance has been weak, the firm reported

mainly associated with firm s aerial divisions rather than Bombardier Transportation. It is fair to say
that Bombardier s current vulnerable position was caused by firm s undue attention to its CSeries jets,
designed to compete with Boing s and Airbus s smaller commercial jets. Constant delays and cost

The Technology Of Driverless Cars Essay
Driverless Cars also known as, autonomous vehicles, seem to be the next big thing when it comes to
the future advancement of cars. In fact, Autonomous automobile test models have been on the road
since 2009, so far driving hundreds of thousands of miles without an accident (McDonald 6). Since
driverless cars are seeming to become a real thing in the future to come there s multiple questions on
how people feel about driverless cars. Is it a good thing? A bad thing? How will it affect our society in
years to come? Many people will argue that the technology of driverless cars is a bad idea and will
affect our society negatively in years to come. I argue that point and believe that companies should
introduce the technology of driverless cars because, it will have a positive impact on, not only cars,
but society in general in the mere future. When it comes to driverless cars and the impact that the
technology could bring, I m talking about the impact within people s safety, the users convenience in
mobility , the economy, and the technological advances in the car itself. That s just a couple ways that
a driverless car can be positive. In fact, Thomas Frey, a futurist who researches and understands fully
about the concept of driverless vehicles states that, there s many aspects of driverless cars that are
overwhelmingly positive (Frey 39). When it comes to people s safety, driverless cars could be safer
than people driving in an operated car. In the United States, the

Analysis Of Esther By Sylvia Plath
The stereotypical survivor could be described as someone who endured grueling physical obstacles,
survived and returned to normal life, and developed as a person since then. Sylvia Plath does not fit
the typical template of a survivor; she did not physically survive. However, the emotional and mental
stress she withstood the ten years prior to her suicide made her just as much of a survivor as anyone
who lived to tell their story. Although Plath eventually crumbled under the weight of her deteriorating
emotional stability, she persevered for as long as she could until she could take it no longer, making
her as strong as anyone who survived a physical challenge. The bell jar was a symbolic representation
of her emotional state throughout the novel, whether it be pre treatment, post treatment, or pre suicide.
Before her treatment with Dr. Nolan, Esther , the character name for Sylvia Plath, began a rapid
downward spiral beginning while she was still in college, which included a month of no sleep, a
withdrawal from social interaction, and several suicide attempts. At this time, the bell jar had closed in
on her, suffocating her from the inside. Everything reminded her of death. Esther had tried to drown
herself as one of her last suicide attempts before the beginning of her treatment, and prior to her
attempt she noticed that sharks teeth and whales earbones littered about down there like gravestones
(Plath 153). Her relating measly shark teeth as gravestones down

Descriptive Essay On Halloween
My perfect Halloween would be a night of just chilling and watching a marathon of halloween movies
and eating sweets. the party s I would have will at mossy have 2 5 close friends and we would
probably just play video games if there is more than 3 people there. But costume wise if I did go
outside and walk around with my dogs I think I would just put on a onesie and show off my dressed
up pups. If I did buy candy I would just get an assortment of different kinds. But let s go into more
detail about these three ideal halloween must haves.
A perfect party for someone like me contains just a few friends or just even one close one just chilling
on a bean bag watching scary movies for hours on end wile eating our favorite halloween snacks. But
most importantly you need people that will just sit and talk because who dosent like to talk about
scary stories or ghost encounters. Like friends that commit to watching scary movies with you are real
friends because they show you their scared side unless there are stone and barely have any fears at all.
Halloween parties are fun with a lot of people but with a few close people you can do so much more
activities big crowds could t do. for instance hide and seek in a small house, video games that can only
handle two players at a time, and the price of just enough pizza for 2 or 3 compared to 15 or 20 is a
big difference.
If i got bored of that a perfect halloween costume would be a shark onesie and my dog on a leash and
wearing a fish

Effects of Alcohol on Coordination Essay examples
BIO103 Environmental Biology Effects of Alcohol on Human Coordination
Introduction:
Alcohol is known to produce many chronic abnormalities that are attributable to parietal lobe
dysfunction. The self becomes aware of the body being a distant object but it feels a strange
attachment feeling (Miller et al, 1991). Considerable laboratory research indicates that different levels
of alcohol consumption contributes to overall behavioural and cognitive functions and therefore the
reason for carrying out this study is to test the effects of alcohol on human coordination. According to
Allum et al (1998) Alcohol effects information received by brain receptors causing the working ones

Although this is the case, the investigation was poorly set out. Only one standard alcoholic drink was
consumed which, as shown in the data, isn t enough to lose coordination unless the subject had
extremely low tolerance to alcohol. Subjects were not discriminated by age gender and body weight
which would have shown different results if these points were discriminated against and would have
displayed a stronger correlation between the effects of alcohol on human coordination. The sample
was not large enough to show a strong enough correlation between alcohol and coordination in the
data therefore making the test inaccurate. Overall it seemed that as the subjects had more practice at
the game, the better they became.
In a past investigation carried out by Patel et al (2010), three groups of adults were assessed at 0.00%,
0.06% and 0.10% blood alcohol concentration to assess if alcohol affected body coordination.
Subjects were asked to rate their drunkenness on a scale from 1 to 10 for each group. Results had
shown that their score had no effect on body movement coordination patterns but those who consumed
a higher amount of alcohol experienced a more significant effect on their coordination due to blood
alcohol concentration. In this experiment, the groups showed a larger correlation between effects of
alcohol on human coordination and therefore more accurate

Othello Archetypal Tragic Hero Analysis
Until Act III Scene iii, Othello is presented as the archetypal tragic hero.
To what extent do you agree with this statement?
Traditionally in a tragedy the tragic hero has several parts; noble stature, hamartia (usually as a result
of hubris), free choice and a nemesis. Othello as a character of noble blood seems to conform to all
these. Up until Act III Scene iii Othello, noble Moor is in an elated position and is very aware of his
importance. It is in Act 3 Scene 3 where Othello takes on a new persona, where his confidence and
happiness is tragically replaced with jealousy and rage.
Shakespeare establishes Othello as the tragic hero in Act 1 Scene 1 as the audience are introduced to
Iago, his nemesis, and are made aware of Othello s noble stature as well as being made aware that
Othello loves his own pride (hubris). In this first scene Iago and Roderigo are conversing about
Othello and Iago repeatedly uses the word the Moor to describe him. This was a derogative term used
to describe black men which, in Elizabethan times, were believed to be evil. As Elizabethans were

Evaluating The Theories Of Learning Essay
This paper was chosen because it is significant to evaluate the theories of learning taught by very
important psychologist, and the different ways they can be applied to life. It is also noteworthy to state
that the techniques of these theories differ from one psychologist to another. Correspondingly, this
author believes there are several ways that people can be reinforced in the process of learning. This
lesson covers the definition of learning, different types of learning, and, also, discusses learning styles.
Furthermore, the author will similarly focus on illustrating and describing how individuals can apply
the latter in a biblical aspect. Ultimately, after reading this paper, the reader should have a better
insight into the process of learning in which an individual experiences permanent, lasting changes in
knowledge, behaviors, and ways of processing the world. Significant Theories of Learning Fact:
Jessica was the receptionist at Unity Nursing Home. She is a very joyful and friendly person and an
immense asset to the facility. Recently, she was promoted to the Admission Assistant position. She felt
very excited and eager, but at the same time, she was apprehensive. Despite her worries, Jessica
decided to embrace the opportunity given to her and transitioned into her new role. After just two

To make conversations more personal, the moderator had to address some more sensitive subjects that
would in turn make people more shy to answer, but after a few individuals would give answers, other
would bring it back to them and answer the question fully. Also, when you addressed an individual by
name, it make the conversation more relatable and would result in improvement participation rates and
positively affect quality of data gathering.
What We Would Do Differently
If we could do this focus group again, we would try and include a larger collection of participants.
This improvement would allow us to hear more insights, and give our group a wider variety of
responses. A smaller sized group may be more personal, but doesn t offer as much depth as a slightly
larger size.
Additionally, something that would help is finding ways to get people to participate more during the
focus group. Not everyone will have as much experience as the next person, but it s still important to
hear their thoughts and opinions. The more that people participate, the better our findings will

Gym Dwellers Essay
Gym Dwellers
Automated doors slide open revealing a multitude of fitness machinery and flooding the air with the
sound of weights clinking and the synchronized rhythmic stomping of twenty pairs of Nikes hitting
the floor simultaneously in the step aerobics class; it s time to get physical. On any given day, at any
time, in gyms all across America the same scene is played out, (Guy). A handful of muscle bound
jocks, serious about competitive weight lifting, can be seen spotting each other in the free weights
area. Mirrors in the bathrooms, dressing rooms, and on the fitness center floor are consumed by
pimped out prima donnas and jewelry adorned divas alike; preoccupied with primping and flexing
their way to personal greatness/fitness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While they are female, the do not always have monster muscles or popping veins. In fact, many times
these females are exactly the opposite of their male counterparts; they are paper thin and looking like
the need to eat a sandwich and some cookies. Regardless which body type they possess, these
tenacious women know how to use the exercise machines and they can be found doing exactly that,
day in and day out.
The flip side of that coin is demonstrated by the aspiring models many of whom spend more time
checking out how they look in the mirror than they do actually working out. Males, and females, with
unnaturally hard bodies and an equally unnatural desire to look date ready while working out, strutting
around, parading like peacocks, wearing the most popular matching brand name outfits can always be
found hording mirror space and assisting gravity by holding machines down with their bottoms while
exercising their ability to text using only their thumbs. Although generally amicable, this group of
fitness center members is regarded with the most disdain; taking up valuable time and space to make
fashion statements.
This narcissistic group of gym members is the same regardless of location; their matching outfits,

Essay On Nutrition Before Exercise
Pre exercise
The prominent macronutrient that needs to be utilized in the days and hours before
training/competition is carbohydrates. At 9am, client 2110 ate oats with semi skimmed milk, followed
by a yogurt, which equated to 40.3g of carbohydrates. A few hours later at 11am the client had noodles
followed by a cereal bar which contained 35.3g of carbohydrates. Therefore, in total, the athlete
consumed 75.6g of carbohydrates before competition (2pm). Carbohydrate oxidation, gained from
muscle glycogen utilization, specifically during the first hour of prolonged exercise, has been seen to
increase with the ingestion of a rich carbohydrate meal 4 hours prior to exercise (Coyle et al., 1985).
Similarly, Hargreaves et al. (2004) suggests that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be done 2 4 hours before exercise by consuming between 5 10mL/kg/BW. In doing so, the
athlete should achieve a urine colour of pale yellow and give adequate time for excess fluid to be
excreted prior to exercise (Thomas et al., 2016). Further research from Sawka et al. (2007), suggests
that the individual should slowly drink ~5 7mL/kg/BW at least 4 hours before exercise begins. At 9am
the client drank 500ml of water, followed by a further 1000ml at 11am. Therefore, the client s total
fluid intake was 1500ml (~23mL/kg/BW) and would have been well hydrated before competition but
is significantly higher than the research advocates. This could possibly mean that the athlete was hyper
hydrated, which can potentially dilute and lower plasma sodium (Sawka et al., 2007). To inhibit this,
Murray (1987) recommends a 200ml drink which contains 50mmol/L of sodium between a 3 10%
concentration will increase fluid absorption in the small intestine.
During exercise
Dehydration of 1 2% of body weight onsets the compromise of physiologic function and negatively
influences performance, therefore athletes should maintain hydration at less than 2% body weight loss
(Casa et al., 2000). In this case, the client should aim to stay above 63.7kg to prevent a 2% body
weight fluid reduction. This is emphasised as Edwards et al. (2007) found that when fluid ingestion
was prohibited to football players, the total distance covered was reduced by 13 15% compared to

How To Write An Essay On The Play Bat Boy
For the production of Bat Boy, there were many tasks to be performed. Like usual there were the
actors, the running crew, and the musicians. For this particular musical, the running crew had many
different parts. The carpentry crew, which I was a part of, had a variety of jobs for the show. We were
in charge of the fly system and for moving various portions of the set. For the fly system, there were
four ropes and a traveler system set up. Three of the ropes were used for the opening scene where the
Taylor children would come in on their harnesses in the cave. Before the curtain would open we
would fly them to the top, then as the curtain was opened we would fly them down to the ground.
Each rope had at least two people, if not more. The other rope was used for the flying of the ... Show

A lot of the learning had to do with synchronization. Working on a production of that size, it is a
necessity that everyone learns to work as a team. With an enormous cast and crew, and a set with
many pieces, we all had to work in a way so that we could all do our jobs without interrupting others.
The scenes in which we had to fly Bat Boy were the hardest because we had to get timing right for
everything, as well as the fluidity of the pull. The scene where he flies out had to be a smooth
movement. If it was choppy it wouldn t have looked right. Jumping off the acting block and pulling
the rope with others took plenty of practice as well. For every fly scene, no matter how much practice
we got, there would always be a point where we could end up grabbing each others hands while we
were pulling on the rope. While this could have been a problem, we learned that we needed to just
keep going with pulling the rope. Teamwork wise, the slaughterhouse wall and door were also
something that took a lot of practice. Despite the challenges we faced while working on this
production, we were able to overcome them and put on a great

Voting Rights In Prisons
When convicted of a felony, the highest class of crime, that individual becomes a convicted felon for
life even after time in prison is served. Many people believe that the only person more threatening
than a convicted felon is one who has not been caught. As a result of this notion, laws have been set in
place to prohibit felons from traveling abroad, owning guns, obtaining certain jobs, voting, etc. Voting
is a constitutional right and commonly considered one of the exceedingly precious civil rights, and
furthermore believed those rights should not be taken no matter the person s morale. Others strongly
believe if you are a felon, you should not be trusted. Voting rights are only lost completely in two
states, only while incarcerated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it might be legal for them to vote there are numerous requirements that ex convicts are
unable to meet. After being released it is tough for felons to find a job and retain stability, therefore it
is almost impossible for them to compensate the overdue payments necessary for them to regain the
right. One person fighting for felon s right is Virginia s past governor Robert McDonnell. He states, I
believe that once an offender has fully paid his debt to society, he deserves a second chance... It is a
mark of good government to restore felons rights and provide them the opportunity to succeed and
become law abiding citizens again (qtd. in procon.org). The con side of the argument believes that
felons should have kept what is at stake in mind before committing crimes. A few even believe that
they should be ordered to work and show an effort to regain their lost rights (Risk Scott, procon.org).
Both sides of the argument on this topic of a felon s right to vote propose strong arguments for what
they believe. The strict laws that cause difficulty for felons to vote were created by reason of
committing a felony is the highest act of crime. On the other hand, other felonies that are believed to
be slight may lead up to only one year in

Abel Tesfaye, other known as The Weeknd, is a newly arising artist. The 25 year old singer became a

completely mysterious, nobody knowing his real identity. This worked immaculately well with the
themes of his music, dark, sulky songs about meaningless sex and drug use. It was a more revealing,

Now that he has gained attention, he s making music that would have been very unexpected years ago.
It all started in 2012, with the debut of Trilogy, a remastered collection of his original 2011 mixtapes.
A year after, he released his official debut album, Kiss Land, which was similar to his earlier work.
However, many fans felt the more polished version took away from what initially made them latch
onto Tesfaye s work on songs like Wicked Games. But to grow you must move forward. Tesfaye made
a 180 and changed roles into a pop star when he released Earned It in 2014, lead single from the
soundtrack to Fifty Shades Of Grey. This song has a much different vibe then many of The Weeknd s
other songs, this being more symphonic and magnificent. It was apparent that he was moving out of

super producer Max Martin sounds more like Michael Jackson than anything on past mixtapes.

The Demise Of Cornelius Vanderbilt
Cornelius Vanderbilt was certainly a very important contributor to his field. Some people would even
argue that he, to a certain extent, invented his field. This is undoubtedly the case as the majority of
today s businessmen follow his example and act in ways that he invented by carrying out his actions.
In addition, Vanderbilt invested his fortune in railroads. Without railroads, today s society would not
only be vastly different, but it could also possibly be nonexistent. This is due to Vanderbilt s railroads
creating a societal dependency on his railroads. Vanderbilt had always been skilled at seeing promise
in fields that had promise. When he was young, Vanderbilt bought a sailboat and worked for a sailboat
shipping company, from which he made thousands of dollars per year. When he got older, Vanderbilt
saw promise in a field that others saw no promise in: Railroads. Vanderbilt saw that railroads and
steam trains had promise and were the way of the future; therefore, he decided to relocate his family
and began investing in his new industry. Amazingly, he was so confident in the field that he denied a
humongous raise in pay from his boss, who had offered Vanderbilt a raise before he left for his new
home. A lesson that industrialists who followed him learned from this is to search for an industry with
a lot of potential and then to invest in it. Vanderbilt found himself in a very unique situation as being
in his profession was, at that time, still very new and mostly

All Saints Day in Guatemala
All Saints Day, which is celebrated in Guatemala, is a day of celebrating loved ones who have died.
This day, Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, originated in Mexico centuries ago. 1 It is a day
of joy and not of sorrow. This is the when people pray for help from the saints who have passed on.
They also pray that those who have died without becoming saints will become saints. Fancy
decorations, food, and fun are all joined together to help celebrate this day in Guatemala. The home is
one of the places that is beautifully decorated. An alter is set up with pictures of their loved ones,
candles, flowers, bread, fruit, atole and aguardiente. Atole is a drink that is made of corn flour and
water; while aguardiente is liquor made from sugar cane. The people continue their rituals and before
dawn they place flowers above the doors of their home to welcome the spirits of their deceased loved
ones.2 This adds to the beautiful decor of the home. Next, comes the decorations at the grave side.
People clean the tomb stones, paint them, and then decorate them with many colorful flowers. Flowers
like lilies, chrysanthemums, and flor de muerto (a strong marigold) are used to decorate.3 At the tops
of the graves are placed wax paper wreaths.4 The cemeteries on this day turn into a massive color
display. After the wreaths are placed, it is time to eat.5 The families have picnics there in the
cemeteries by the graves of their loved ones. The fiambre salad is a traditional

Most of the symptoms of stomach cancer can be signs of other health issues and usually are not
stomach cancer though. There is no way to tell if you have stomach cancer but if you have any of
these symptoms you should go to the doctor as soon as possibly just to be sure. There are many risk
factors for stomach cancer. Gender is a minor risk factor because men are more likely to get stomach
cancer than women are. Age is a risk factor as well because most people are over the age of 65 when
they are diagnosed with stomach cancer. Ethnicity is a big risk factor because the rate cancer is higher
in Hispanics and African Americans rather than non Hispanic white. Tobacco use is a risk factor for
stomach cancer along with most of every other type of cancer. Smoking doubles the risk for someone
to get cancer. It has been proven that people with Type A Blood are more likely to get stomach cancer
as well. Some other risk factors are things like bacteria infection, diet, earlier stomach surgery,
stomach polyps, and oddly enough, some occupations in coal, metal, and rubber industries are even
risk factors of stomach cancer. There are a few different ways to be diagnosed and/or screened for
stomach cancer. One way is an upper endoscopy. This allows the doctor to see anything not normal in

Expressionism
Overview: Expressionism is an extremely stylized mode of screen reality in which filmmakers use
visual distortion to suggest emotional, social, or psychological disturbances or abnormalities. The
distortions may be subtle, but often emphasize strange or bizarrely poetic artistic designs. The camera
work (lighting, angles, lenses, etc.) often enhances the de centering of the screen world.
Classic German Expressionism: Expressionism in its purest form is found in 1920 s German cinema,
in which case it was overtly opposed to realism, emphasizing elaborate distortions in the mise en
scene.
Contemporary Expressionism: Most easily found in the films of Alfred Hitchcock (Psycho, e.g.).
Hitchcock employs low angled shots, close ups and other camera tricks in order to accent the viewers
perception of the subject and the overarching themes. Other contemporary expressionists may include
Spike Lee (Crooklyn) and Tim Burton (any film of his).
Fantasy and the Fantastic
Overview: Though many filmmakers my employ expressionistic techniques in what we would
consider an essentially realistic film, in films which employ a fantasy or fantastic mode, settings and
subjects, characters, and narrative time are often displaced from the viewer s own realm into other
realms, sometimes futuristic ones, whose normal laws of time and space may not apply. Characters
might have superpowers,

Shri Lakshmi Mandir (9292 Magnolia Ave): On April 6, 2017 I walked a couple blocks down from

decoration and gold colors, with shrines and pictures of various gods and other deities. In the corner of

reasons. He also spoke about the conflict of a student and a teacher who simply did not understand
each other at first. Nonetheless, after some time, the teacher begins to take time to listen to the student
and attempts to understand the student s background.

The True Success Behind Ms. Marvel
In less than a year, that has lasted on shelves, after releasing the new series of Ms. Marvel in 2014 it
turned out to be a successful hit. Kamala Khan may be a Muslim but she s still just like any other
ordinary teenage girl who lives in Jersey and faces the same problems: lives with strict parents, has
that one friend who has a secret crush but is never noticed, a small group of friends, and the desire to
be able to fit in with the popular kids at school. This story isn t just about how any other every day

Possessing valuable resources and optimal conditions for growing expensive crops such as sugar, France dedicated much of their money into this little island, allowing Saint Domingue to become the most wealthy colony in this time period. However, the Haitian slaves revolted against the French colonial rulers, resulting in the only completely successful slave rebellion in history. • 4. The Change Theory Of Nursing Model Framework The Change Theory of Nursing Model will be used to facilitate change in the unit because it will drive the patient in a desired direction (Nursing Theory, 2016). The model, developed by Kurt Lewin, uses three stages of change. Before change can be implemented the agent goes through unfreezing, experiencing the change, and refreezing (Nursing Theory, 2016). Unfreezing This phase involves focusing on the staff s mindfulness for the necessity of change based on the evidence collected by an infection control committee. This phase is necessary to overcome the tensions of individual resistance and group compliance (Nursing Theory, 2016). Using three methods is how this phase is achieved. First, redirecting the behavior away from the existing situation. Second, reducing the restricting forces that have a negative affect on the movement. Lastly, using a combination of the two methods mentioned above. Experiencing the Change This stage is where the staff will be required to view the education power point on the new CAUTI prevention tool. The staff will then take a post education competency test to demonstrate proficiency of the risks and complications of CAUTIs as well as the prevention tool. Nurses are encouraged to assess the need to continue the Foley each shift and offer patients an urinal, commode, or bedpan when needed. When indications are no longer met, the RN is to call the doctor for Foley removal. Refreezing This is where establishing the change ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Discussion Questions On Marcel Duchamp s Urinal Painting Kimberly Greene Professor Whiting HUMN 2002 Art March 11, 2017 Art Assessment II Task 1: Artist: Marcel Duchamp Title: Fountain Signed: R. Mutt Year: 1917 Task 2: Do you think this is art? Is it art or not, why? Yes, I believe that Marcel Duchamp s urinal painting is considered art because it served as some type of meaning or purpose to him. He was inspired in some way to paint this type of artwork/painting. One can interpret it in more ways than one. Some may not even understand it, but somehow Duchamp did and that is all that matters. So, therefore, this is what led to him painting such a feature and that is why I would consider it as a piece of art. Task 3: Find information on Fountain. Consider concepts. (Write additional notes here.) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His famous painting, titled Fountain, is viewed as one of Duchamp s most famous works and is widely seen as an icon of 20th century art. (Tate). Therefore, I believe if it changed how people viewed Conceptual art and artwork throughout that era/time period, then it is considered as such a famous piece of artwork. While some may not understand the point of Duchamp s painting of the urinal, others find much needed purpose to it. If it outlined and changed such an era/time period of art, then I would say Duchamp set a new limit on what is to be or not to be considered art. I believe art is what comes from the inside the inner soul and what draws through because what lies within you, serves as a meaning to not only you, but to others as well. While, some people look at a piece of art or artwork and somehow find no meaning to it, and think, Oh, I could have done that by just dabbing or throwing a little paint on the canvas, others find meanings to these pieces of artwork. To me, I believe that all artwork has a meaning and serves a purpose to the artist and/or painter. While we may not understand all of the concepts highlighted in a painting, such as this one, or in any such artwork, I believe that we can still get something out of it, as a whole. By saying this, I believe that this is exactly what Duchamp did and believed, that you couldn t define art, and that is why I consider Duchamp s famous piece, Fountain, which drastically changed the views/concepts of Conceptual art period/era, a piece of ... Cultural Aspects Of Sexy Salsa Dance As different groups of people move from one geographic location to another, they bring various aspects of their heritage with them, including the dance forms characteristic of their culture. While in a new location, these cultural aspects can serve to unify people of a common ethnicity, giving them a physical expression of their collective identity. On the other hand, when a minority group of people practices its dance forms in a new geographic location, dominant groups of people often adopt them. Failing to understand the social significance and original meanings of such dances, the majority group appropriates several aspects of the dance forms while changing other aspects in order to make them fit better within its cultural ideologies. In this way, cultural appropriation of dance forms dissolves some of their original cultural meanings, as is exemplified by the transmission of salsa dance from a Latin American social dance to a Western ballroom dance, changing its nature from an expression of cultural unity to an exotic experience. Performed primarily in social dance clubs, salsa is a fluid and dynamic dance. The movement of the dancers originates from their hips, which move constantly throughout the dance (Sexy Salsa Dancing). This in turn leads to the dancers having a dynamic and flexible spine, weight shifts propelled by core body movement often resulting in weight suspended between the feet, [and] flexed knees and a lower center of gravity (Malnig 304). Analysis Of Coronation Of The Virgin By Gengtile Da Fabriano Once gracing the lavish floor of Getty Center, the Coronation of the Virgin which was painted by the extraordinary Italian artist Gentile da Fabriano in 1420, attracted many attentions by its sacredness, powerfulness and magic of the Christ. At 36 ⅝ inches and 25 ¼ inches size tempera, Christ gently places the ornate gold grown upon Virgin Mary s slightly bowed head by the watching of angels from either side as she becomes the Queen of Heaven. Since the first century, Christianity has played an important role in Western Art, which has inspired numerous artists in making their masterpieces. However, artists must follow the religious rules to build up the imagery of the Christ, and educate audience about the religious. Coronation of the Virgin by Fabriano is a perfect presentation of that. Gorgeously. Striking. Grace. The golden painting is taking up by the two most iconic symbols of Christianity: Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary. Christ gently placing a golden grown on the inclined head of the Virgin Mary, who is sitting on the right side of Jesus; her hands crossed over her chest symbolist of humble, reverent and loyalty. This position was purposely set by Fabriano. In Christianity art, position is significant in dividing between good manners and malefactors. Since driverless cars are seeming to become a real thing in the future to come there s multiple questions on how people feel about driverless cars. Is it a good thing? A bad thing? How will it affect our society in years to come? Many people will argue that the technology of driverless cars is a bad idea and will affect our society negatively in years to come. I argue that point and believe that companies should introduce the technology of driverless cars because, it will have a positive impact on, not only cars, but society in general in the mere future. Sylvia Plath does not fit the typical template of a survivor; she did not physically survive. However, the emotional and mental stress she withstood the ten years prior to her suicide made her just as much of a survivor as anyone who lived to tell their story. Although Plath eventually crumbled under the weight of her deteriorating emotional stability, she persevered for as long as she could until she could take it no longer, making her as strong as anyone who survived a physical challenge. The bell jar was a symbolic representation of her emotional state throughout the novel, whether it be pre treatment, post treatment, or pre suicide. Before her treatment with Dr. Nolan, Esther , the character name for Sylvia Plath, began a rapid downward spiral beginning while she was still in college, which included a month of no sleep, a withdrawal from social interaction, and several suicide attempts. At this time, the bell jar had closed in on her, suffocating her from the inside. Everything reminded her of death. • 20. Othello Archetypal Tragic Hero Analysis Until Act III Scene iii, Othello is presented as the archetypal tragic hero. To what extent do you agree with this statement? Traditionally in a tragedy the tragic hero has several parts; noble stature, hamartia (usually as a result of hubris), free choice and a nemesis. Othello as a character of noble blood seems to conform to all these. Up until Act III Scene iii Othello, noble Moor is in an elated position and is very aware of his importance. It is in Act 3 Scene 3 where Othello takes on a new persona, where his confidence and happiness is tragically replaced with jealousy and rage. Shakespeare establishes Othello as the tragic hero in Act 1 Scene 1 as the audience are introduced to Iago, his nemesis, and are made aware of Othello s noble stature as well as being made aware that Othello loves his own pride (hubris). In this first scene Iago and Roderigo are conversing about Othello and Iago repeatedly uses the word the Moor to describe him. This was a derogative term used to describe black men which, in Elizabethan times, were believed to be evil. As Elizabethans were much more critical of black people, Shakespeare s deliberate choice of using a black character to have an impact, would in reality only have had an affect on the audience when the play was initially performed. Teamwork wise, the slaughterhouse wall and door were also something that took a lot of practice. Despite the challenges we faced while working on this production, we were able to overcome them and put on a great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Voting Rights In Prisons When convicted of a felony, the highest class of crime, that individual becomes a convicted felon for life even after time in prison is served. Many people believe that the only person more threatening than a convicted felon is one who has not been caught. As a result of this notion, laws have been set in place to prohibit felons from traveling abroad, owning guns, obtaining certain jobs, voting, etc. Voting is a constitutional right and commonly considered one of the exceedingly precious civil rights, and furthermore believed those rights should not be taken no matter the person s morale. Others strongly believe if you are a felon, you should not be trusted. Voting rights are only lost completely in two states, only while incarcerated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it might be legal for them to vote there are numerous requirements that ex convicts are unable to meet. After being released it is tough for felons to find a job and retain stability, therefore it is almost impossible for them to compensate the overdue payments necessary for them to regain the right. One person fighting for felon s right is Virginia s past governor Robert McDonnell. He states, I believe that once an offender has fully paid his debt to society, he deserves a second chance... It is a mark of good government to restore felons rights and provide them the opportunity to succeed and become law abiding citizens again (qtd. in procon.org). The con side of the argument believes that felons should have kept what is at stake in mind before committing crimes. A few even believe that they should be ordered to work and show an effort to regain their lost rights (Risk Scott, procon.org). Both sides of the argument on this topic of a felon s right to vote propose strong arguments for what they believe. The strict laws that cause difficulty for felons to vote were created by reason of committing a felony is the highest act of crime. The 25 year old singer became a roaring sensation after his release of a trio of highly acclaimed mixtapes. Those being House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence. During the time these were released, Tesfaye was completely mysterious, nobody knowing his real identity. This worked immaculately well with the themes of his music, dark, sulky songs about meaningless sex and drug use. It all started in 2012, with the debut of Trilogy, a remastered collection of his original 2011 mixtapes. A year after, he released his official debut album, Kiss Land, which was similar to his earlier work. However, many fans felt the more polished version took away from what initially made them latch onto Tesfaye s work on songs like Wicked Games. But to grow you must move forward. Tesfaye made a 180 and changed roles into a pop star when he released Earned It in 2014, lead single from the soundtrack to Fifty Shades Of Grey. This song has a much different vibe then many of The Weeknd s other songs, this being more symphonic and magnificent. It was apparent that he was moving out of his traditional and adapted sound of alternative R B to reach a bigger, more general audience. Can t Feel My Face was more out of unlike him. This song having a funky, pop sound to it, produced by super producer Max Martin sounds more like Michael Jackson than anything on past mixtapes. Tesfaye sounded happy on that track, an emotion that he rarely, if ever, showed before. He even announced a collaboration with pop singer Ed Sheeran, who is on the other side of the ... • 30. The Demise Of Cornelius Vanderbilt Cornelius Vanderbilt was certainly a very important contributor to his field. Some people would even argue that he, to a certain extent, invented his field. This is undoubtedly the case as the majority of today s businessmen follow his example and act in ways that he invented by carrying out his actions. In addition, Vanderbilt invested his fortune in railroads. Without railroads, today s society would not only be vastly different, but it could also possibly be nonexistent. This is due to Vanderbilt s railroads creating a societal dependency on his railroads. Vanderbilt had always been skilled at seeing promise in fields that had promise. When he was young, Vanderbilt bought a sailboat and worked for a sailboat shipping company, from which he made thousands of dollars per year. When he got older, Vanderbilt saw promise in a field that others saw no promise in: Railroads. Vanderbilt saw that railroads and steam trains had promise and were the way of the future; therefore, he decided to relocate his family and began investing in his new industry. Amazingly, he was so confident in the field that he denied a humongous raise in pay from his boss, who had offered Vanderbilt a raise before he left for his new home. A lesson that industrialists who followed him learned from this is to search for an industry with a lot of potential and then to invest in it. Vanderbilt found himself in a very unique situation as being in his profession was, at that time, still very new and mostly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Expressionism Overview: Expressionism is an extremely stylized mode of screen reality in which filmmakers use visual distortion to suggest emotional, social, or psychological disturbances or abnormalities. The distortions may be subtle, but often emphasize strange or bizarrely poetic artistic designs. The camera work (lighting, angles, lenses, etc.) often enhances the de centering of the screen world. Classic German Expressionism: Expressionism in its purest form is found in 1920 s German cinema, in which case it was overtly opposed to realism, emphasizing elaborate distortions in the mise en scene. Contemporary Expressionism: Most easily found in the films of Alfred Hitchcock (Psycho, e.g.). Hitchcock employs low angled shots, close ups and other camera tricks in order to accent the viewers perception of the subject and the overarching themes. Other contemporary expressionists may include Spike Lee (Crooklyn) and Tim Burton (any film of his). Fantasy and the Fantastic Overview: Though many filmmakers my employ expressionistic techniques in what we would consider an essentially realistic film, in films which employ a fantasy or fantastic mode, settings and subjects, characters, and narrative time are often displaced from the viewer s own realm into other realms, sometimes futuristic ones, whose normal laws of time and space may not apply.
