Visual Distraction Essay
Visual Distraction and its effects on reaction time in humans
Abstract
This research project explores the effects and consequences of visual distraction on reaction times in
adults. In this study we want to see if participants who are visually distracted have a slower pre motor
time than those who are not visually distracted. This is crucial in situations such as driving as we
believe there are many accidents that arise from distractions. In order to address the question, we will
collect sufficient participants and perform simple experiments to gather required results. Our results
will contain accurate measurements of reaction times which will be a critical factor for gaining
knowledge in this area.
This field of study caught our attention as we believe there are many on road accidents which result
from mainly visual and other sorts of distractions such as audio. Distractions are said to be a
fundamental factor which contributes to a slower pre motor time in traffic conditions(Holahan, Culler
et al. 1978). Similar studies have been done in this field(Triggs and Harris 1982, Consiglio, Driscoll et
al. 2003), However they mainly focus on a broad spectrum of distractions and don t go into specific
details of each type of distraction. Knowing this, we want to examine systematically the effects of
visual environmental distractions on reaction times of individuals.
A study performed in Great Britain states significant amount of deaths occur yearly which are mainly

The Game Of Basketball And The Engine
The game of basketball and the engine have been around for a long time. The game of basketball was
invented in December 1891 and the engine was invented in 1680. Although they seem completely
different they are not. Basketball and the engine are similar regarding their equipment and supplies
needed, the procedures that take place, and the way they enhance one s life. The game of basketball
was intended to condition young athletes. It started as a basic game, and as the years progressed,
officials added rules that made the game how it is today. The game is played with no more than five
players from each team at a time. This allows you to have team mates but not have too many people
playing at one time. The engine was invented to make life and transportation easier. Over the years
engines have become more complex and powerful which allows for more speed and better vehicles.
Basketball may seem like a complicated sport but it is not unless one makes it complicated. In the
game of basketball there is the basket which has a back board made of a sturdy glass and a net made
from special rope. Then there is the basketball which is made of rubber with a leather cover for grip.
The players wear shorts and a jersey with a number and sometimes the last name of the player on the
back and the same number and team name on the front. The player will also wear a special shoe made
for the sport. The shoes are made from different materials, and the bottom of the shoe has a good,

Privacy Issues On The Internet
Privacy issues on the internet has always been a concern, especially when it comes to data that could
be used to exploit myself or my family. One of my primary concern in the has always been some
unscrupulous person getting my personal information and ruining my credit, but after reading Blown
to Bits it looks like I have more to watch out for a lot of the companies I trust and do business with on
a daily basis too. Since I was in my early 20 s I always worried about my credit because I learned
from a friend s personal experience just how hard it was to repair credit after it was ruined, even if it
was no fault of your own. A lot of my fears has been overridden by the ease of use of credit cards to

Lydia Kennell Research Paper
Tell me about the olden days, Lydia Kennell was often asked by her grandchildren. Born as Lydia
Kauffman on August 30, 1932, she was born and raised as a Mennonite in Belleville, Pennsylvania on
a dairy farm. After marrying Marvin Kennell on October 22, 1961, Lydia moved with Marvin to his
hometown of Roanoke, Illinois where they lived for fifty six years until recently moving to the Eureka
AC Home. Lydia and Marvin had two children, Betty and Bryant, while accumulating seven
grandchildren and six great grandchildren. When asked about the olden days, Lydia always makes sure
to mention her home back in Pennsylvania. The good days, Lydia would recall when thinking of
where she grew up in Kishacoquillas Valley, known locally as Big Valley ... Show more content on

Ever since her and Marvin had a grandchild, there always seemed to be a grandkid over every
weekend. It was always a treat for one of the kids to stay with Marvin and Lydia. When over, the
grandkids would always go into town in Roanoke and visit all the businesses. For more fun, the
grandkids would always play many games of Uno with their grandparents. The grandkids always
enjoyed playing with the dogs and cats at the farm, too. Lydia stills remembers walking out into the
breezeway of her house and seeing the grandkids playing with the dogs inside rather than outside. A
big yearly event would be when Marvin and Lydia would take their grandkids to Bloomington Normal
to see the Christmas lights and Santa. The grandkids would usually take a little bit of persuasion, but
eventually sit on Santa. School functions and sporting events of the grandchildren also always held
Marvin and Lydia in attendance. A big signature of Marvin was to always be handing out candy.
Marvin s philosophy was that as long as the kid had teeth, he could eat candy, a little sugar never
killed nobody. After Marvin s passing in 2005, Lydia made sure to carry on the tradition her husband
had started and always pass out candy to every young child she saw. No matter what has happened in
Lydia s life, she has constantly made an effort to value her grandchildren and put them near the
forefront of her

The Tragedy Of The Commons
The Tragedy of the Commons American Earth: Environmental Writing Since Thoreau is a diverse yet
interconnected collection of essays by renowned environmentalist authors who have been influential
in literature, religion, science, and politics. Each piece has a specific purpose and role that it plays in
conveying ideas and themes. Many authors share their personal opinions on issues such as the world s
declining forests, the extinction of species, such as birds in Gene Stratton Porter s The Last Passenger
Pigeon (192), and their intimate experiences with nature, such as Julia Butterfly Hill s The legacy of
Luna (907). However, the most influential essay in this book is The Tragedy of the Commons by
Garrett Hardin (438). A multitude of pieces in this book tie into the tragedy of the commons and
support its ideas in one way or another.
In his essay Hardin discusses how the rapid decline of the world s common places, such as natural
animal pastures, are the result of rapid, uncontrolled human population growth. Hardin suggests that
environmental problems such as deforestation, crowding out of native species, loss of resources,
pollution, poor job economy, etc., are the result of the loss of common spaces. He indicated that
common spaces used to be plentiful enough for every person to have an abundant share, but that was
when the human population was smaller than the current population of 7 billion people. Hardin s
powerful essay proposes many solutions and methods

Essay On The Tragical History Of Doctor Faustus
To begin, the Tragical History of Doctor Faustus was a play written in sixteenth century by
Christopher Marlowe. In the play, the main character, Doctor Faustus, is bored because he feels that he
has learned all the knowledge that is acceded to in the state that he is in, therefore, he has some other
scholars who know about dark magic to teach him their ways. While he is learning dark magic Doctor,
Faustus summons a demon named Mephistopheles, who helps Faustus sell his soul to the devil.
Throughout the play, Faustus begins to have doubts and starts to repent, however, the only answer that
he receives is from Mephistopheles and Lucifer teach his about the Seven Deadly Sins leaving he is
impressed and stopping his doubts. With his newly found power, Faustus and Mephistopheles travel
through Europe playing trick on people such as the Pope and Emperor of German yet his time soon
runs out. An old man urges Faustus to repent, but Faustus drives him away. On his final night, Faustus
is overcome by fear and remorse, but it is too late because at midnight devils appear and carry his soul
off to hell. God is absent throughout the play to reflect Faustus beliefs on God, as well as, Marlowe s
own religious beliefs.
In addition, the absence of God reflect the beliefs of Faustus on God. Faustus does not believe in God.
Faustus has no desire to serve God, but he does have a desire to please himself by using his power to

Safe Injection Sites Literature Review

CA #3 Methodology
Extending the Related Literature In the literature review, I covered a few emerging themes present in
my literature related to my research question, are safe injection sites perceived by the public to be
more helpful or more harmful in combating drug epidemics? As such, this study extends the related
literature on the topic of safe injection sites through attempting to add in the public s perception of
safe injection sites and the supposed benefits they provide, such as reduction in overdose or blood
borne illnesses. In several of the articles, the sway that public perception holds over support for safe
injection sites is briefly highlighted as being crucial. In fact, one study starts the introduction by

Transmission Control Protocols or TCP is among the key methods utilized in Internet Protocol Suites.
TCP has got two end systems, a web browser and a web server from which it operates. TCP provides
delivery of a stream of bytes from a program on one computer system to another. Internet Protocols
operate at a lower level compared to TCP. An IP is used for data transmission across a packet switched
internetwork. In X on and X off signals, the X means transmitter. These types of signals are used to
manage the movement of data between computer systems on an asynchronous serial connection. In X
on, the bit configuration is the keyboard blend of Ctrl Q and the Ctrl S combination is for X off. There
are two kinds of transmissions, parallel as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As discussed in Chapter 3, the connectionless environment (which includes
X.25 networks, the public Internet, private IP based backbones, and LANs) can be likened to the
postal service, in which a message is relayed from point to point, with each relay getting one step
closer to its ultimate destination. In a connectionless environment, each packet of a message is an
independent unit that contains the source and destination address. Each packet is independently routed
at each intermediate node it crosses. The more hops it goes through, the greater the accumulated
delays, which greatly affects delay sensitive applications, including any form of real time voice, real
time audio, real time video, video on demand, and streaming media. But connectionless environments
can work around problems, which is why they were so strong in the early days, when there were
frequent system failures and links that were too noisy to perform correctly. Connectionless packets
could circumvent system failures or noisy conditions and still meet at the
destination point with high integrity. The connectionless environment offered the flexibility of routing
around problem areas, but at the risk of greater overhead associated with the overall transmission
because addressing had to be included in each packet, and also at the risk of greater delays because
each packet had to be independently routed. Features of IP
IP was designed to work in the LAN world. It is a

The Role Of Masochism In Fifty Shades Grey
Sex is for pleasure and for fun. We all have our kinky fantasies that we may or may not seek out.
Sadism and masochism can arguably be considered something that is just for fun and a way of
pleasing themselves but it is not what normally pleases the majority of people. It is a form of sexual
arousal by being punished or punishing another person in ways that cause pain, suffering, and
humiliation. Sadomasochism is on the list of paraphilia s in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders. I agree that Sadomasochism is pathological even if the sexual partner is willing. A
persons cause for this disorder could be caused by something deeper or another mental disorder that

Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
In Half of a Yellow Sun, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie attempts to use history in order to gain leverage
on the present, to subvert the single story stereotypes that dominate many contemporary discourses on
Africa. Written in the genre of historical fiction, Adichie s novel transcends beyond mere historical
narration and recreates the polyphonic experiences of varying groups of people in Nigeria before and
after the Civil War. She employs temporal distortion in her narrative, distorting time in order to
illustrate the intertwining effects of the past and present, immersing deep into the impact of western
domination that not only catalyzed the war, but continues to affect contemporary Africa. In this paper,

He develops keen interest in learning the English language and a hobby in reading. Not only does he
learn about history, he also learns about current events and politics through Odenigbo and his
colleagues, and begins forming his own opinions about the war (Adichie 17). His insatiable desire to
learn and read leads him to subconsciously memorize, re read and recite texts from Narrative of the
Life of Fedrick Douglas, An American Slave, even while serving the army at war, something which he
previously regarded as crazy (Adichie 452). Adichie s choice of novel allows her to effectively
illuminate the impact of Western culture in Nigeria, and to draw a parallel between Ugwu and Douglas
who were both exploited as slaves during the colonial era. Ugwu becomes so immersed in western
culture that he finds difficulty in adapting to his former traditional lifestyle when he visits home. He
finds the food unpalatable and is disgusted by his sister s lack of hygiene (Adichie 119, 120).
Yet, despite being in direct contact with western ideas, Ugwu is still unable to completely free himself
of his Nigerian roots. For example, he still believes in the power of the dibia. While Odenigbo and
Olanna shrug the dibia off as ludicrous old fashioned thinking, Ugwu is completely convinced that the
dibia had something to do with Odenigbo s mother s ability to convince Odenigbo to cheat on Olanna
(Adichie 241). Adichie emphasizes the cultural fusion by refraining from dismissing

Software Engineering And Intelligent Systems Essay
INTRODUCTION
Throughout the year I have learnt about many issues in software engineering and intelligent systems
by researching for this report. In this report I will be explaining and discussing these key problems and
some key techniques that can be implemented to overcome these for both software engineering and
intelligent systems.
SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
Software Engineering is the discipline of designing and developing software projects so that they
behave in an efficient and independent manner while meeting the requirement of the client. Some key
problems which arise in software engineering are complexity, inefficient communication and
inadequate testing. Software projects are large and take years to make. In order to reduce the risk of
failure and keep track of problems, software projects must follow the correct methodology.
A methodology is a set of instructions followed in order to develop projects efficiently. In software
engineering, a methodology is a discipline which structures a project strongly so that it will succeed.
Without a strong structure, the project will start to break down and create big problems for software
engineers.
KEY PROBLEMS COMPLEXITY
Software projects are complex and can crash with the slightest errors. Software Engineering projects
take a lot of time and can sometimes take years to code. Some projects are made with over a thousand
lines of code, due to this, the chance of error increases. For example, in 1998, a crew member of the

What Is The Most Important Result Of The Columbian Exchange
Issue Paper 2
Tino LoGerfo
History 105
What many people only know about Christopher Columbus s expedition is that he found the
Americas. While this is true, he did find a completely new frontier that was unknown to the Old
World, his findings re shaped global consumption patterns from the seventeenth century. He found a
New World filled with resources that the old world hasn t seen before. When he found the new world
he brought with him European plants and animal species that were foreign to the citizens of the New
World. The Columbian Exchange introduced many foods that are still essential to consumption in
today s world along with the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries. The potato is a prime example of
how the Columbian Exchange changed global consumption patterns because it was nutritious and had
an abundant amount of calories in it and caused a mass population increase in areas where the potato
was available. The use of slaves also increased exponentially when sugar cane was introduced. This
was a very cheap, productive way to produce a large amount of sugar and it was used by many Old
World countries. The findings of these new world products created a rise in global consumption and
production because products were introduced to the both the New World and the Old World and there
instantly became a large spike in the availability of products. Along with this, the old world decided to
go out and get themselves involved in the New World because they saw an opportunity

Captain James Macnamar Trial At The Old Bailey On...
In MacNamara (1803), Captain James MacNamara is brought to trial at the Old Bailey on
manslaughter charges stemming from a duel in which MacNamara killed his adversary, Colonel
Robert Montgomery. Interestingly, an examination of the trial proceedings demonstrates that the
defence focused on the defendant s honourability. Rather than focus on the defendant s criminal
actions, the defence sought to counter the prosecution by highlighting the defendant s actions in
relation to another code, the English code of honour. In spite of a strong prosecution, the jury s verdict
of not guilty in MacNamara is reflective of the vast majority of English criminal trials involving
duelists being ruled in favour of the defendants, demonstrating the subversion of English criminal law
by the code of honour in the Georgian period (1714 1830).
MacNamara (1803) On 6 April 1803, Captain James MacNamara and Colonel Robert Montgomery
travelled on horseback through Hyde Park with their separate entourages and Newfoundland dogs.
The dogs, who had run ahead of their masters, attacked one another. Arriving at the scene of the
canine altercation, Montgomery confronted MacNamara, demanding that the latter restrain his dog.
Sensing a challenge, MacNamara asserted his intention to stand by his dog, accusing Montgomery of
arrogance and disrespect. With neither prepared to concede, both parties agreed to meet later that day
atop Primrose hill in a pistol duel. In the duel, MacNamara fatally wounded

The Characteristics Of Reuven In The Chosen By Chaim Potok
The overwhelming traits of Reuven So, what does a person think when he sees a Jew? Does he only

shrewd and prideful? Well Reuven from the book The Chosen by Chaim Potok, a Jew in the 1900 s,
displays distinct characteristics that would surprise most people. For example, he stands for others
when they need him, he even remains caring to those who have offended him. Reuven displays many
characteristics that many people wish they had. In book The Chosen by Chaim Potok, Reuven displays

No, I said (95). The significant part of this passage reads when Reuven says No . This remains
important because four days earlier, Danny Saunders nailed him in his eye with a baseball purposely.
And even though Danny Saunders did that awful thing, Reuven let him sit next to him. What an act of
kindness and forgiveness! Because Reuven let Danny sit next to him, gesturing an act of forgiveness,
his exhibited his unrelenting kindness. Overall, Reuven s skill to forgive Danny even though he hurt
him, designates his personality trait of kindness. Finally, a personality trait that most women wish
their husbands had, the ability to listen. Listening to his Dad and friend, Reuven demonstrates it the
most. My father stopped, looked at me with a smile, and said, You are not asleep yet, Reuven? No
Abba. .... I smiled back at him and waited patiently (143). As a person can clearly see, Reuven listened
to his father intently during his whole lecture, thus proving his amazing ability to listen. Another
example exists when his friend Danny and him started a long walk to Danny s house. During their
walk, Danny talked to him the whole time, and all Reuven did, was look at him and listened to what
he had to say. Hence, when Danny kept on babbling about whatever he had to exclaim, Reuven stood

Research Paper On Cemetery Birding
Our latest park review takes us east into zone 6 where we make our first venture into cemetery birding
within the CBC circle. All Saints Cemetery is located in Northfield, Ohio off of W. Highland Road
and consists of 271 rolling acres, with two small lakes.
While birding cemeteries may be bit creepy to some, they can be an ideal habitat for birds and birders
alike. Most cemeteries are relatively large, providing good acreage for birds, with plenty of mature
trees for shelter and foraging.
We elected to run a short car route around the perimeter of the cemetery to get a grasp of the layout
and a probable foot path that we would follow. Parking along the southern most point in the cemetery
we scanned a small lake, or big pond for signs of life (sorry bad choice of words). No waterfowl were
present and the surrounding open area was muted.

Cemetery Birding Etiquette
Birding in a cemetery, graveyard or memorial garden is not as simple as arriving with a pair of
binoculars and wandering around the grounds. While polite birders are always respectful of both the
birds and the habitat, cemeteries require extra consideration.
Be aware of the property s opening hours and visitor guidelines, and obey all posted rules and
restrictions, such as no food or drink, minimal noise, signing a guest register or parking only in
designated areas. Keep a respectful distance from any funeral or memorial services, and do not disrupt

Explain How Is Iago A Sociopath
Raya Tarawneh
5/3/16
Is Iago a Sociopath? One of Shakespeare s most acclaimed works, Othello, delves into a wide range of
themes. The play tackles issues of race, gender and encompasses ideas of jealousy and deceit.
Shakespeare also brings to life a variety of well constructed characters. Iago, the deceitful antagonist,
can easily be identified as the liveliest and most complex character in the play. His devious nature
raises the question of whether or not he is a sociopath. Sociopathy is a mental disorder in which an
individual s moral depravity poses a threat to society. The Psychopathy Checklist, commonly known
as the PCL, constructed a list of criteria used to diagnose sociopaths. These criteria vary from
irresponsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The PCL refers to sociopaths as having superficial charm and glibness , both of which Iago possesses.
When asked by Othello to recap the events of the quarrel, Iago says I had rather have this tongue cut
from my mouth/ Then it should do offence to Michael Cassio (2.3.205 206). In saying so, Iago comes
off to Othello as both honest and loyal, most definitely charming him and covering up the fact that it
was Iago himself who intentionally set up the quarrel in order to become lieutenant. In document A,
conning others for personal profit or pleasure is said to be usual of sociopaths. This is easily
applicable to Iago s character, who for the sake of becoming lieutenant and destroying Othello,
manages to deceive several characters in the play and ends up being the cause of Roderigo,
Desdemona, Emilia and Othello s deaths. Once again, placing Iago and Ani Korban side by side
affirms Iago s sociopathy. Ani Korban praises his psychiatrist by referring to him/her as one of the
most astute and erudite persons he has ever met . Immediately after saying so, Korban requests a
favor: to have access to a payphone. Evidently, he also has the ability to charm others and, similar to
Iago, uses this superficial charm for his own personal

True Identities In April And Hercules
It is very important for a person to know their identity. A person s identity describes who they are and
how they live life. When he/she understand his/her identity they will know why they are on this Earth
and learn to accept who they are. If a person knows who they are they will not care about how people
think of them. April and Hercules have trouble finding their true identities because they care about
what people think instead of what they think. April and Hercules are very similar because they both
feel like there is a dark wall standing between them and their true identity. Both of their journeys were
very difficult. April had to face mean kids and everyone had labels, and Hercules had to face deadly

Racial Politics And The Race Cycle Model Essay
It has been centuries since slavery ended across Latin America and the United States, yet racial issues
continue to plague these countries. Since manumission, the concept of race has evolved through the
meaning societies have given it. While the idea of race is merely conceptual it has significant social
and political effects. More specifically, through racial politics, these countries have been able to
incorporate race in their agendas and implement racial politics in their laws and policies in such a way
that perpetuates racial ideologies. One of the methods used to understand the role of racial politics and
its effect on racial ideologies and vice versa is the race cycle model. The purpose of the race cycle
model is to demonstrate how racial ideologies are improved, worsened, or maintained, but fails to
explain how the cycle can lead to multiple, asymmetrical outcomes as depicted by the racial politics of
Haiti and the responses of other Latin American and the United States following the Haitian
Revolution.
The race cycle model begins with what Sawyer (2006) calls the old equilibrium. This old equilibrium
represents the status quo surrounding the racial politics and ideologies in a state. In the old
equilibrium, Haiti was formerly a French colony known as Saint Domingue on the island of
Hispaniola. Throughout this period, Saint Domingue was a major plantation zone and France s
wealthiest overseas colony, exporting, Over 80,000 tons of sugar , among other cash crops

New Testament Exegesis
New Testament Exegesis Gospel of Matthew: Concerning Prayer (6:5 14)
Introduction
Matthew 6:9 13 records the Lord s Prayer in the account of Jesus Christ. Jesus gave this model prayer
to his disciples in the Sermon on the Mount (Greenman, 2012: 4). The Lord s Prayer has been central
to Christian liturgy and tradition ever since.
This essay will first summarise the literary structure and historical context, including authorship and
date and location of writing and audience of the gospel of Matthew. Followed by an overview and
detailed account of the passage Matthew 6:9 13 before summarising the theological message and
application for today s Christians.
Literary structure
Matthew narrates the story of Jesus. The implied author of the Gospel of Matthew uses all the
elements of the narrative to guide the implied reader s response. The entire text is rhetorical
(Anderson, 1994: 46).
It is clear to scholars such as Gardner that Matthew organizes material systematically at the level of
literary units and the sections to which they belong (Gardner, 2013: Kindle Locations 239 242). The
basic structure of the text is as follows: the Practice of Prayer (6: 5 15 6: 5 6), the Manner of Prayer (6:
7 13), the Language of Prayer (6: 14 15) and finally Forgiveness and Prayer (Gardner, 2013: Kindle
Locations 1843 1844).
Of note, Matthew particularly rearranges Mark s material in the earlier chapters of the Gospel,
especially through the insertion of the Sermon on the Mount (chaps.

The Paris Peace Conference and Versailles Treaty Essay
Success or Failure
At the end of World War I (WWI), as with most wars, it was necessary to hold a peace conference and
due to the number of countries involved in the war, this task was extremely imposing. The desired
conclusion of this conference was world peace, but with approximately 75% of the world nations
represented and each country having it s own agenda, the search for peace was elusive because of a
desire for vengeance. This vengeance may have set the stage for World War II. On January 12th, 1919,
the Paris Peace Conference (PPC) opened at several different venues, in and around Paris, France, but
was moved to the Versailles Palace because of the number of attendees. As many as 32 World Leaders

The total deaths of all nations, civilian and soldier deaths, who fought in WWI, are thought to be well
over 8.5 million deaths and 21 million being wounded. The desire of revenge against Germany and the
countries that fought with them, resonated through out the conference. In secret treaties, held prior to
the end of the war, the PPC outcome had basically already been decided. Europe was determined to
make Germany pay and the actual treaty, in essence, was victory with vengeance. Woodrow Wilson
brought his Fourteen Points document to the peace table hoping to change the way of thinking in
Europe, but he was up against centuries of inbred infighting. Wilson s Fourteen Points, which included
the following four;
1) no more secret treaties
2) countries must seek to reduce their weapons and their armed forces
3) national self determination should allow people of the same nationality to govern themselves and
one nationality should not have the power to govern another
4) all countries should belong to the League of Nations was reduced to One Point , and this point was
the establishment of the League of Nations, and even this was a hollow victory, as the American
Congress would never allow the United States to be a member of the League. Also, secret treaties had

The importance of websites in environment, which costumers face with invisible dealers, invisible
processes, invisible controls and intangible nature of e business relations, is undeniable; hence, proper
design of websites has been very important.
Internet customers can easily compare the services of websites. As a result, for companies to keep
their customers and build loyalty, they must provide high quality online services. On the other hand, if
users, in order to use a website more effectively, are not able to understand the good quality and
features that are needed, and do not know what features a good website must have for it to provide
them access to information, they consider its usage as a waste of time and thus will stop using it.
Assess quality of websites, considering its role in attracting customers and building loyalty is very
important for activists in the field of e commerce. Many of the research in this area are concentrated
on components, graphic design and usability of the website that clients understand than the evaluation
of the quality which has higher importance than the technical aspects. Many studies show that if
perceived quality of a company s website is more, the company gets to a higher level of performance
So in this study a webqual model has been introduced in order to evaluate and study the quality of the

Analysis Of George Orwell s The Lion And The Unicorn
It is made evident through his works other than The Lion and the Unicorn: Socialism and the English
Genius, however, that George Orwell favors a power of the people rather than a specific leader or
leaders restricting personal freedoms. His anti authoritarian viewpoint, which is evident in a number
of his writings, enforces this social belief. Evidence of this point of view first come to light in his book
Homage to Catalonia, which was originally published in 1938, around the same time he joined the
Independent Labour Party in England in an act of democratic socialism. Homage to Catalonia is a
personal account reflecting on the role that Orwell played in the Spanish Civil War. In the book,

Nineteen Eighty Four is a dystopian novel set in the future from when Orwell wrote it, predicting that
without socialism, totalitarianism would take over the world. The novel depicts a society in which the
people are living under a completely totalitarian government in Airstrip One that, in an abuse of
power, rules every aspect of their lives, both private and public. The omnipresent Big Brother watches
and listens to its citizens (more specifically the Party, the lower class Proles are not deemed important
enough to be monitored) at all times through devices called telescreens that are carefully placed in
order to capture one s every moment (though, through an architectural fluke in his apartment, Winston
is able to get around this for some time to write in his illegal journal). Big Brother is not only
attempting to control their citizen s actions and behavior through the telescreens, however, they are
trying to monitor their thoughts as well. It is against the law in Airstrip One to even think something
that goes against Big Brother or the Party. The crime labeled thoughtcrime could get a person

and, therefore, they cease to exist whether or not they are alive or dead. This punishment can also be

Chaucer s Pandarus and Foucault s Theory of Power 2319 Words 10 Pages
If Geoffrey Chaucer for some unforeseen reason was unable to published The Canterbury Tales, then
perhaps, his version of Troilus and Criseyde would be widely acknowledged as one of his most epic
tragic poems. However, Chaucer s poem, though adapted widely into various modern translations, for
the sake of this paper the translation by Barry Windeatt will be used, the tale s influential go between

themselves in are the results of the power structure established by the go between Pandarus. From the

In fact, Pandarus is the character that upholds the courtly love power structure within the tale, because
Pandarus is interested in the social interactions of the different characters. Additionally, Pandarus uses
his position as Troilus friend in order to gain power from the social situation that arises, where Troilus
befallen with love sickness needs an advisor to aide in his conquest of a lady.
Therefore, Pandarus becomes the go between because he derives power from the ability to position
individuals in complex and strategic social structures in order to maintain the courtly love notions. In
fact, as Schoeck deduces, Courtly love is sensual...Courtly love is illicit and, for the most part,
adulterous. Indeed, in the courtly system marriage has no place (4). Thus, Pandarus reiterating the
meaning of his name in Chaucer s text by establishing is position of power through being the go
between for Troilus and Criseyde, acknowledges that the dishonor of his niece is not his concern
because, Courtly love was exalted under the system as a virtue, which ennobled those who practiced
the art (Schoeck 6). Therefore, Pandarus did not view his act to bring the two lovers as a means to
subvert the honor of his niece Criseyde, but rather saw that the social relations of the individual is one
of the most important components of political change (Hartsock

Giardia Intestitis
Giardiasis is a diarrheal infection, caused by the microscopic parasite Giardia lamblia, and one of the
most common intestinal parasitic disease affecting humans in the United States. Parasitic organisms
need to feed off their host to survive. Giardia lamblia is a pathogenic flagellated protozoan, and the
most common flagellate isolated in clinical specimens. However, due to the variability in the
concentration of the organisms found in the various stool samples, sensitive and specific fecal
immunoassays should be used for detection of the Giardia trophozoites and cysts. While viewing the

Once ingested, the cyst undergoes, excystation (parasites escape cyst) within the stomach and
duodenum because of the acids and enzymes present. Each cyst produces two trophozoites, and as
they reach the small intestine, begin to multiply rapidly. It is as the trophozoites enter the large
intestine that encystation occurs (the process of forming the cyst), due to the presence of neutral pH
and secondary bile salts. The cysts then continue toward the colon, exiting in the feces and out into the
environment. Although both the trophozoites and cysts are present in the stool, it is the cyst that is the
means of transmission of the parasite. The Giardia cysts are resilient forms that have the capability to
survive for two months in the environment. This parasite is typically found in freshwater
environments such as rivers, lakes, municipal water systems, wells and swimming pools. These fresh
bodies of water can harbor Giardia through fecal, human or animal contamination. The cycle then
continues as the cysts are once again ingested along with water or food contaminated by infected
people, objects or animals. It takes as little as, 10 to 100 cysts, for transmission to occur, which
compounds the probability of infection as this parasite is found

Code of ethics published in 1953 by the American Psychological Association (APA). After that

necessity that helps keep our bodies warm. Human beings cannot live without the protection from
clothes in adverse conditions and this signifies how important clothing is for us. Nowadays, in
addition to the basic functions, clothes can also serve as fashion items, which can tell how significant

Simpson et al. found that participants in existing relationships rated people of the opposite sex as less
attractive than participants not in relationships. This suggests that people judge prospects of new
alternative relationships as less profitable if they are already in a committed relationship. The CLA
may provide an explanation as to why many women choose to stay in abusive relationships. If
investments in the relationship are high (e.g. children, financial security) amp; alternative prospects
are bleak (e.g. poverty, homelessness), then a woman may see staying in the abusive relationship to be
more profitable than leaving it. Blau (1977) argued that interactions are expensive , as they take time,
energy and commitment and may involve unpleasant emotions and experiences. Therefore what we
get out of a relationship must exceed what goes in. Rusbult found that costs and rewards from a
relationship were weighed up in comparison to possible alternative relationships when deciding
whether they should be maintained which supports that social exchange models idea that people assess
rewards by making comparisons. Walster et al believed that social interactions involve an exchange of
rewards, like affection, information, status. The degree of attraction or liking reflects how people
evaluate the rewards they receive in relative to those given. Costs of being in a relationship may be
effort, money spent, time spent, or low self esteem, whilst the rewards may be pleasure,

Planned Parenthood Debate
Opinion Paper After researching both sides of the debate on the acceptability of the US Government
funding Planned Parenthood, I have affirmed my initial support for government funding. The evidence
that assured my support revolved around the consequences defunding Planned Parenthood would
cause and the general lack of empirical evidence against Planned Parenthood. The majority of the
opposition object to funding planned parenthood for moral and religious reasons. Overall, I feel more
damage would be done by defunding the organization. Firstly, one must understand the government
funding Planned Parenthood receives is from Medicaid and Title IX. Danielle kurtzleben, a writer for
NPR, informs Medicaid operates using federal and state funds, in her article Fact Check: How Does
Planned Parenthood Spend That Government Money? Defunding Planned Parenthood would not alone
shut down or actually defund the program because State funds could still support it. However, States
are forced to redistribute where they allocate their funds, which means other programs may also lose

students. An example of a cooperative learning activity in an elementary setting could be the Scooter
Scramble . The scooter scramble is best used with grades K 2. In the scooter scramble you will need
one scooter per student, four different colored pinnies, four containers marked with the colored pinnie,
and any type of equipment that can be carried on a scooter for example a bean bag, balls, etc., and as
many items as possible. In this activity you need to explain to the students how working together is
extremely important in team sports. Once all the equipment is out and scattered across the gym you
will split your class into 4 groups and the students will make a goal of how many items they can
collect and bring to the garbage cans. The challenge in this activity is for the students to figure out
how to carry the equipment along with scrambling around on their scooter. Once all the equipment is
picked up, the students can check who has the most items in the garage cans and whoever has the most
wins. Once the first task is completed you can make variations. Variations that can be made are
changing the teams, specifying that you can only collect a certain object on the floor and you have to
avoid all the others while on the

Essay On New Haven
The city of New Haven, Connecticut has been a long standing settlement. Established officially by
Europeans in March of 1638 (Source 3), New Haven has a detailed history of population declines and
growth. The territory that is now New Haven was once inhabited by the Native American group the
Quinnipiack (Source 6). The accrual of land was easy for the English settlers in this territory due to
the conflicts between the Native American groups. The Quinnipiack tribe occupied the area near the
harbor and the Mohawks and Pequots occupied the surrounding area and constantly harassed the
Quinnipiack. When the English arrived the Quinnipiack traded their land for protection, which the
English agreed to immediately. Through the years the settlement of New Haven has grown and
declined in population due to different factors including political, economic and many more. The
English settlers first selected the territory that is now New Haven due to its location and availability of
resources. New Haven can be described by using the five themes of geography, which are location,
place, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The harbor created a trading zone that many settlers saw as an economic resource (Source 6).
Although this vision of New Haven being a major trade harbor was diminished when larger cities such
as Boston began to trade (Source 3), the harbor still controlled movement throughout the town of New
Haven. One example of this movement would be that the first settlers went in and out of New Haven
through the harbor and after the settlement was well established many immigrants from Europe
immigrated through the harbor as well. Today the harbor is still used for some trade as well as
recreation. Lastly, the regional definition in regards to New Haven s geography can be defined as the
coastal region of Connecticut. However, when it was first established the region was much more

Peter Medak s Gain of the Viewer s Sympathy for Derek Bentley in the Film Let Him Have It
The film Let Him Have it is a powerful social drama based on a true story. The film s Director, Peter
Medak, made this film in 1991 because he thought the judicial hanging of Derek Bentley in 1953 was
a grave miscarriage of justice. Peter Medak, like many film directors, used his bias to show his
sympathy to the viewers, probably in the hope that the he could pass his sympathy on to many people
in order to influence their view. Bias is a tendency to support or oppose a particular person or thing in
an unfair way by allowing personal opinions to influence your judgment.
By influencing the public view ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Craig gave Bentley a knife and a knuckle duster, and Craig carried a similar knife along with an Eley
revolver. They intended to break into a warehouse occupied by a firm called Parker Barlow.
Craig and Bentley were spotted on the warehouse roof by a child whose mother notified the police.
Bentley surrendered at once to DC Fairfax, the first police officer who arrived on the roof. When
Craig aimed his gun at the officer, the officer asked Craig to surrender and hand over the gun. Bentley
then yelled to Craig, Let him have it, Chris. Craig then shot and wounded that DC Fairfax and later
shot and killed a different officer, PC Miles.
Six weeks later, both Craig and Bentley were tried and convicted of the murder of PC Miles. The jury
returned guilty verdicts on both youths with a recommendation for mercy in Bentley s case. Craig was
sentenced to ten years in prison as he was he is too young to face the death penalty. Bentley was
sentenced to death by hanging.
Although Derek Bentley did not have a gun and was already in police custody at the time of the
shooting, the police claimed he was equally guilty of the crime because he supposedly incited his
accomplice with the words Let him have it, Chris . Many people have argued that these words actually
meant let him have the gun and were not words of

Measuring Urban Parks On Subjective Well Being Of Urban...
5.2. Estimation Results
We estimate five different specifications of the model presented in Section 3. Table 2 presents our
estimation results of the effect of urban parks on subjective well being of urban dwellers. In order to
check the model consistency, we only include our key variable (i.e., urban park) in the first model as
the simplest version, and then include income and socioeconomic variables in model 2 and model 3.
Because the average happiness level has changed over time, as shown in Figure 4 and 5, we include
time specific fixed effects in model 4. Finally in order to account for the unobserved characteristics at
the local level, we include region specific fixed effects variables in model 5. Adding more variables

Housing ownership is found to be positively associated with individual subjective well being, and
people who live in an apartment are likely to be much happier than those who live in other types of
housing. Females are found to be less happy than males. In terms of marital status, people who
married are much happier than those who have never been married. People whose education level are
higher than bachelor degree are much happier than less educated people. Finally, people who have a
job are much happier than those who do not work.
However, unlike previous studies, the effect of age is negative, indicating that happiness levels of
individual person lower as people getting old. This is an inconsistent result as compared to the
previous studies arguing that life satisfaction is U shaped in age. In many advanced countries in
Europe, individual happiness level is at the lowest between a person s mid 30s and early 50s because
younger individuals have higher expectations than older adults. And then the happiness level increases
as they age because the elderly learn to adapt to their abilities and thus become more realistic (Clark
and Oswald, 1994; Landeghem, 2012). But, in the city of Seoul, happiness level is negatively
associated with age. This is probably because of increasing concerns of physical health among older
adults (Easterlin, 2006). Although further investigation with consideration of the local contexts is

Visual Distraction Essay Visual Distraction and its effects on reaction time in humans Abstract This research project explores the effects and consequences of visual distraction on reaction times in adults. In this study we want to see if participants who are visually distracted have a slower pre motor time than those who are not visually distracted. This is crucial in situations such as driving as we believe there are many accidents that arise from distractions. In order to address the question, we will collect sufficient participants and perform simple experiments to gather required results. Our results will contain accurate measurements of reaction times which will be a critical factor for gaining knowledge in this area. This field of study caught our attention as we believe there are many on road accidents which result from mainly visual and other sorts of distractions such as audio. Distractions are said to be a fundamental factor which contributes to a slower pre motor time in traffic conditions(Holahan, Culler et al. 1978). Similar studies have been done in this field(Triggs and Harris 1982, Consiglio, Driscoll et al. 2003), However they mainly focus on a broad spectrum of distractions and don t go into specific details of each type of distraction. Knowing this, we want to examine systematically the effects of visual environmental distractions on reaction times of individuals. A study performed in Great Britain states significant amount of deaths occur yearly which are mainly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Game Of Basketball And The Engine The game of basketball and the engine have been around for a long time. The game of basketball was invented in December 1891 and the engine was invented in 1680. Although they seem completely different they are not. Basketball and the engine are similar regarding their equipment and supplies needed, the procedures that take place, and the way they enhance one s life. The game of basketball was intended to condition young athletes. It started as a basic game, and as the years progressed, officials added rules that made the game how it is today. The game is played with no more than five players from each team at a time. This allows you to have team mates but not have too many people playing at one time. The engine was invented to make life and transportation easier. Over the years engines have become more complex and powerful which allows for more speed and better vehicles. Basketball may seem like a complicated sport but it is not unless one makes it complicated. In the game of basketball there is the basket which has a back board made of a sturdy glass and a net made from special rope. Then there is the basketball which is made of rubber with a leather cover for grip. The players wear shorts and a jersey with a number and sometimes the last name of the player on the back and the same number and team name on the front. The player will also wear a special shoe made for the sport. The shoes are made from different materials, and the bottom of the shoe has a good, sticky ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After marrying Marvin Kennell on October 22, 1961, Lydia moved with Marvin to his hometown of Roanoke, Illinois where they lived for fifty six years until recently moving to the Eureka AC Home. Lydia and Marvin had two children, Betty and Bryant, while accumulating seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. • 6. The Tragedy Of The Commons The Tragedy of the Commons American Earth: Environmental Writing Since Thoreau is a diverse yet interconnected collection of essays by renowned environmentalist authors who have been influential in literature, religion, science, and politics. Each piece has a specific purpose and role that it plays in conveying ideas and themes. Many authors share their personal opinions on issues such as the world s declining forests, the extinction of species, such as birds in Gene Stratton Porter s The Last Passenger Pigeon (192), and their intimate experiences with nature, such as Julia Butterfly Hill s The legacy of Luna (907). However, the most influential essay in this book is The Tragedy of the Commons by Garrett Hardin (438). A multitude of pieces in this book tie into the tragedy of the commons and support its ideas in one way or another. In his essay Hardin discusses how the rapid decline of the world s common places, such as natural animal pastures, are the result of rapid, uncontrolled human population growth. Hardin suggests that environmental problems such as deforestation, crowding out of native species, loss of resources, pollution, poor job economy, etc., are the result of the loss of common spaces. He indicated that common spaces used to be plentiful enough for every person to have an abundant share, but that was when the human population was smaller than the current population of 7 billion people. In a connectionless environment, each packet of a message is an independent unit that contains the source and destination address. Each packet is independently routed at each intermediate node it crosses. The more hops it goes through, the greater the accumulated delays, which greatly affects delay sensitive applications, including any form of real time voice, real time audio, real time video, video on demand, and streaming media. But connectionless environments can work around problems, which is why they were so strong in the early days, when there were frequent system failures and links that were too noisy to perform correctly. Connectionless packets could circumvent system failures or noisy conditions and still meet at the destination point with high integrity. The connectionless environment offered the flexibility of routing around problem areas, but at the risk of greater overhead associated with the overall transmission because addressing had to be included in each packet, and also at the risk of greater delays because each packet had to be independently routed. In this report I will be explaining and discussing these key problems and some key techniques that can be implemented to overcome these for both software engineering and intelligent systems. SOFTWARE ENGINEERING Software Engineering is the discipline of designing and developing software projects so that they behave in an efficient and independent manner while meeting the requirement of the client. Some key problems which arise in software engineering are complexity, inefficient communication and inadequate testing. Software projects are large and take years to make. In order to reduce the risk of failure and keep track of problems, software projects must follow the correct methodology. A methodology is a set of instructions followed in order to develop projects efficiently. In software engineering, a methodology is a discipline which structures a project strongly so that it will succeed. Without a strong structure, the project will start to break down and create big problems for software engineers. KEY PROBLEMS COMPLEXITY Software projects are complex and can crash with the slightest errors. Software Engineering projects take a lot of time and can sometimes take years to code. What Is The Most Important Result Of The Columbian Exchange Issue Paper 2 Tino LoGerfo History 105 What many people only know about Christopher Columbus s expedition is that he found the Americas. While this is true, he did find a completely new frontier that was unknown to the Old World, his findings re shaped global consumption patterns from the seventeenth century. He found a New World filled with resources that the old world hasn t seen before. When he found the new world he brought with him European plants and animal species that were foreign to the citizens of the New World. The Columbian Exchange introduced many foods that are still essential to consumption in today s world along with the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries. The potato is a prime example of how the Columbian Exchange changed global consumption patterns because it was nutritious and had an abundant amount of calories in it and caused a mass population increase in areas where the potato was available. The use of slaves also increased exponentially when sugar cane was introduced. This was a very cheap, productive way to produce a large amount of sugar and it was used by many Old World countries. The findings of these new world products created a rise in global consumption and production because products were introduced to the both the New World and the Old World and there instantly became a large spike in the availability of products. In MacNamara (1803), Captain James MacNamara is brought to trial at the Old Bailey on manslaughter charges stemming from a duel in which MacNamara killed his adversary, Colonel Robert Montgomery. Interestingly, an examination of the trial proceedings demonstrates that the defence focused on the defendant s honourability. Rather than focus on the defendant s criminal actions, the defence sought to counter the prosecution by highlighting the defendant s actions in relation to another code, the English code of honour. In spite of a strong prosecution, the jury s verdict of not guilty in MacNamara is reflective of the vast majority of English criminal trials involving duelists being ruled in favour of the defendants, demonstrating the subversion of English criminal law by the code of honour in the Georgian period (1714 1830). MacNamara (1803) On 6 April 1803, Captain James MacNamara and Colonel Robert Montgomery travelled on horseback through Hyde Park with their separate entourages and Newfoundland dogs. The dogs, who had run ahead of their masters, attacked one another. Arriving at the scene of the canine altercation, Montgomery confronted MacNamara, demanding that the latter restrain his dog. Sensing a challenge, MacNamara asserted his intention to stand by his dog, accusing Montgomery of arrogance and disrespect. With neither prepared to concede, both parties agreed to meet later that day atop Primrose hill in a pistol duel. In the duel, MacNamara fatally wounded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Iago, the deceitful antagonist, can easily be identified as the liveliest and most complex character in the play. His devious nature raises the question of whether or not he is a sociopath. • 25. Racial Politics And The Race Cycle Model Essay It has been centuries since slavery ended across Latin America and the United States, yet racial issues continue to plague these countries. Since manumission, the concept of race has evolved through the meaning societies have given it. While the idea of race is merely conceptual it has significant social and political effects. More specifically, through racial politics, these countries have been able to incorporate race in their agendas and implement racial politics in their laws and policies in such a way that perpetuates racial ideologies. One of the methods used to understand the role of racial politics and its effect on racial ideologies and vice versa is the race cycle model. The purpose of the race cycle model is to demonstrate how racial ideologies are improved, worsened, or maintained, but fails to explain how the cycle can lead to multiple, asymmetrical outcomes as depicted by the racial politics of Haiti and the responses of other Latin American and the United States following the Haitian Revolution. The race cycle model begins with what Sawyer (2006) calls the old equilibrium. This old equilibrium represents the status quo surrounding the racial politics and ideologies in a state. In the old equilibrium, Haiti was formerly a French colony known as Saint Domingue on the island of Hispaniola. Throughout this period, Saint Domingue was a major plantation zone and France s wealthiest overseas colony, exporting, Over 80,000 tons of sugar , among other cash crops ... • 26. New Testament Exegesis New Testament Exegesis Gospel of Matthew: Concerning Prayer (6:5 14) Introduction Matthew 6:9 13 records the Lord s Prayer in the account of Jesus Christ. Jesus gave this model prayer to his disciples in the Sermon on the Mount (Greenman, 2012: 4). The Lord s Prayer has been central to Christian liturgy and tradition ever since. This essay will first summarise the literary structure and historical context, including authorship and date and location of writing and audience of the gospel of Matthew. Followed by an overview and detailed account of the passage Matthew 6:9 13 before summarising the theological message and application for today s Christians. Literary structure Matthew narrates the story of Jesus. The implied author of the Gospel of Matthew uses all the elements of the narrative to guide the implied reader s response. The entire text is rhetorical (Anderson, 1994: 46). It is clear to scholars such as Gardner that Matthew organizes material systematically at the level of literary units and the sections to which they belong (Gardner, 2013: Kindle Locations 239 242). The basic structure of the text is as follows: the Practice of Prayer (6: 5 15 6: 5 6), the Manner of Prayer (6: 7 13), the Language of Prayer (6: 14 15) and finally Forgiveness and Prayer (Gardner, 2013: Kindle Locations 1843 1844). Of note, Matthew particularly rearranges Mark s material in the earlier chapters of the Gospel, especially through the insertion of the Sermon on the Mount (chaps. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Paris Peace Conference and Versailles Treaty Essay Success or Failure At the end of World War I (WWI), as with most wars, it was necessary to hold a peace conference and due to the number of countries involved in the war, this task was extremely imposing. The cysts then continue toward the colon, exiting in the feces and out into the environment. Although both the trophozoites and cysts are present in the stool, it is the cyst that is the means of transmission of the parasite. This suggests that people judge prospects of new alternative relationships as less profitable if they are already in a committed relationship. The CLA may provide an explanation as to why many women choose to stay in abusive relationships. If investments in the relationship are high (e.g. children, financial security) amp; alternative prospects are bleak (e.g. poverty, homelessness), then a woman may see staying in the abusive relationship to be more profitable than leaving it. Blau (1977) argued that interactions are expensive , as they take time, energy and commitment and may involve unpleasant emotions and experiences. Bentley surrendered at once to DC Fairfax, the first police officer who arrived on the roof. When Craig aimed his gun at the officer, the officer asked Craig to surrender and hand over the gun. Bentley then yelled to Craig, Let him have it, Chris. Craig then shot and wounded that DC Fairfax and later shot and killed a different officer, PC Miles. Six weeks later, both Craig and Bentley were tried and convicted of the murder of PC Miles. The jury returned guilty verdicts on both youths with a recommendation for mercy in Bentley s case. • 47. Measuring Urban Parks On Subjective Well Being Of Urban... 5.2. Estimation Results We estimate five different specifications of the model presented in Section 3. Table 2 presents our estimation results of the effect of urban parks on subjective well being of urban dwellers. In order to check the model consistency, we only include our key variable (i.e., urban park) in the first model as the simplest version, and then include income and socioeconomic variables in model 2 and model 3. Because the average happiness level has changed over time, as shown in Figure 4 and 5, we include time specific fixed effects in model 4. Finally in order to account for the unobserved characteristics at the local level, we include region specific fixed effects variables in model 5. Adding more variables improves the ... Housing ownership is found to be positively associated with individual subjective well being, and people who live in an apartment are likely to be much happier than those who live in other types of housing. Females are found to be less happy than males. In terms of marital status, people who married are much happier than those who have never been married. People whose education level are higher than bachelor degree are much happier than less educated people. Finally, people who have a job are much happier than those who do not work. However, unlike previous studies, the effect of age is negative, indicating that happiness levels of individual person lower as people getting old. This is an inconsistent result as compared to the previous studies arguing that life satisfaction is U shaped in age. In many advanced countries in Europe, individual happiness level is at the lowest between a person s mid 30s and early 50s because younger individuals have higher expectations than older adults. And then the happiness level increases as they age because the elderly learn to adapt to their abilities and thus become more realistic (Clark and Oswald, 1994; Landeghem, 2012). But, in the city of Seoul, happiness level is negatively associated with age. This is probably because of increasing concerns of physical health among older adults (Easterlin, 2006). Although further investigation with consideration of the local contexts is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
