 Term used to alert Code Blue team
 Used to Summon CODE BLUE TEAM to an
area where a person has had a
cardiac/respiratory arrest
PURPOSE
 Ensure immediate provision of BLS and
ACLS/PALS
 As per recommended guidelines of Code

 Calling Hospital Telephone Operator 111, 777
 Provide Information: Floor, location, Adult/Pediatric
CODE BLUE ACTIVATION
 Hospital Telephone Operator will activate
response when notified of Code Blue event
 Announce the location of the code event through
Hospital Public address system
 Mobile phone of Code Blue Team

resuscitation on any person who sustains

Assist with intubation procedures
Applies monitor leads/defibrillator pads
Administers Electrical Shock (ACLS trained)
Starts Intravenous access
Administer medications

 Place backboard under patient
 Initiate 2 man Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
 Administer ventilations with 100% O2 with Bag/valve/mask
 Attach Electro cardiogram leads
 Ensure patient Intra Venous access
 Prepare suction
 Obtain supplies from CPR Cart/Ward Stock
 Record events in post event form A & B
 Replenish supplies used from CPR Cart/Ward Stock
 Transport CPR Cart/Ward Stock back to unit incharge
