Asia To America Interview
February 22nd, 2016, on a rare sunny afternoon in the middle of a forested, I interviewed my mother
Theresa Lim in our home in Federal Way, Washington. It was a simple and friendly conversation to
know about one specific person for an English assignment. We sat in our kitchen at the dinner table,
both across each other, we started the interview. Luckily, the two other people living in the household,
my brother and father, were not home and were running errands out of town. The house was calm and
quiet, an echo could be heard from from upstairs if someone spoke with the intent to be heard. I
wanted her story to be heard because not only would the interview be conducted easily and smoothly,
but her journey from Asia to America was an interesting

Social Order And Its Effect On Society
Every day social order is taken for granted. Social order is related to social realities, which are shared
expectations about a chain of events, the types of people involved and associated behaviors and
feelings (O Brien, 2011). It is not until someone violates these realities and interactional routines that
they recognize the difference and become aware. For this reason, during the 1950s, Harold Garfinkel
developed the breaching experiment; a breaching experiment is an activity used in social science to
breach or violate common, taken for granted understandings and practices of everyday life in order to
better understand it. This showed that reality maintenance requires a lot of interactional work. The
objective of a breaching experiment is to disrupt normal procedures so that the process by which
everyday life is constructed or reconstructed can be observed and studied. An example of one of the
breaching experiments Garfinkel did, was when he asked students to spend time in their homes acting
like boarders asking permission, being polite and formal, etc. The results concluded that students
reported family members who expressed shock, anxiety, embarrassment and anger towards their
behaviors. Some of the implications of this is that it is important that people act in accord with
commonsense assumptions with how they are supposed to behave. Therefore, we are all participants
in the construction and maintenance of everyday cultural realities (O Brien, p. 343 348, 2011).

Why Is Catcher In The Rye Still Relevant Today
Old School Versus New School The Catcher in The Rye is a book written by J.D. Salinger and is
widely debated whether the book is still relevant to people today. The story is based in the 1950 s
about a boy who struggles to fit in and to understand human nature in a quest he pursues to find
himself and his place in this world. The Catcher In The Rye is still relevant to people today because
the emotions people felt back then are exactly the same today, many people still struggle to find
themselves, and although the times have changed, many people still act and have the same necessities
as before. The book is is relevant very relevant as people experience the same emotions as Holden did.
The times may have changed, but people still feel exactly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kids can relate to the book more than ever because the emotions and hardships Holden goes through
are almost exactly like the ones kids face today. The book can connect to every student that reads it
and those have can support that the book is, as universal as it is timeless (Maliabadi). The book is
universal because its themes are universal, everyone can connect and find some sort of emotional
attachment to Holden and his journey. Many people sympathize with him because in some way they
have suffered as he has, everyone has lost someone or something, or eventually will, just like Holden.
Many people may argue that the book is clearly outdated as kids are a lot more driven while back in
the day kids weren t as pressured to succeed, Teenagers are more interested in Harvard than flunking
high school (Schuessler, Jennifer). Kids seem to be a lot more school oriented as well as more inclined
to strive for success than kids were 40 years ago. Many kids these days are studying hours every day
and Holden has found himself flunked out of almost every school he has attended. The book is
outdated because a lot of kids can t relate with holden s inability to succeed and that is a turnoff for a
book these days. However People still have the same goals and deeper meaning which allows readers
to really connect to Holden. since Holden s times as a teen it still is very human, and sometimes only
human to experience the, rebellious search to understand human nature and himself (Clay,J). This
quest is so important very everyone to pursue and Holden never really figured it out a his whole idea
of the catcher in the rye was debunked. It is normal for those who are lost, to inquire about life itself
as it is still a mystery to so many people.

So it will take Daimler AG quite a long time to return the investment.
In order to go the SAP RFID technology way, the Daimler AG needs to totally change their current
system which is called manual kanban process. In the new system, the technique of kanban system
still exists, but they are using the RFID technology to replace the kanban card. As the result of using
the manual kanban system for many years, the staffs and employees will feel difficult and need quite a
long time to adapt to the new system and all these will reduce the efficiency at the beginning.
Also the links between the warehouses and facilities also need to be adjusted and the adjusting time
can be depend on how the project being performed for replacing the manual kanban process. The
supply chain management will require some changes and to make all these smooth can t be done in a
short time, and some problems will occur at the starting phase.
In addition, Daimler AG is the first automotive manufacture that is trying to combine the kanban with
RFID technology with the help of SAP. Because of lacking of experience the risks for the project is
increasing and nobody can ensure that this will be a success. If the project fails, the whole
manufacturing system will be affected and the profitability will decrease based on that situation.
All these make the implementing the SAP way not that simple as this is a pilot project and Daimler

Leadership Theory, Transformational, And Transactional Theory
Leadership Theories
Unit 3
PSF8603 Management and Leadership Theory
Instructor Steven Kline
Capella University
Ann Marie Cameron
Introduction
There are a few leadership theories, but for this research I will only focus on four of these theories.
The theories that will be discussed are Situational leadership theory, Contingency theory,
Transformational, and Transactional theory. The theory Transformational is pondered by several to be
the theory improvement for transactional leadership theory, and it appears to have a cumulative
number of research studies that are supporting the benefits of this theory. Because, in an ever changing
organization, there are many who suggest that maybe transactional and transformational ... Show more

This theory states that neither a transformational leadership model, nor a transactional model of
leadership is going to work all the time and in all situations.
Therefore, the philosophy of a leader should be flexible enough to adapt to situations and changing
times, and we will have to use a combination of transformational and transactional leadership
techniques to get the job done ( Pros and Cons of , n.d., para. 9). The rudimentary idea behind
Situational theory is that we need to adapt our strategy to the changing of conditions.
Contingency theory
The contingency theory is a theory that states that to be an effective leader we should rely on not only
on the style of leading but, on the control over a situation, so there needs to be a good leader member
relations ( Fiedler s Contingency Theory , n.d., para. 3), and must have a task in mind with a clear
procedure and goals, and the skill for rewards and punishments when needed. If these are not in the
right combination and context in any way will result in failure for the leader. This theory in general
state that effectiveness will depend on the nature of the task, situation, leader s personality, make up of
the group being led, and the factors involved.
Transformational theory
To use the transformational leadership theory, we need to understand what it is. Transformational
leadership theory is the process that

Validation of the Enterprise Ontology and Information Security Capability Driven Framework is
obtained from the creation of a business strategy to business capability value map and quantification
of key business and security metrics. A set of ontology based competency questions allows the
business to understand and make informed and prudent decisions regarding how and where security
should be applied to ensure a favourable outcome for the enterprise. Analysis of the results of this
study demonstrates the usefulness of the model in guiding the organization to assess current security
risks and make informed and business directed security decisions. The result is a deployment strategy
that balances the scarce resources of the enterprise whilst maintaining strategic alignment. Further
opportunities exist to improve the creation and quality of enterprise ontology including development
of a more rigorous and systematic approach to modelling the enterprise s current state and future state
scenarios using the business capability framework. Semantically driven conceptual models of the
enterprise may also be expressed within key security technologies and systems that support the
organization by forming a collection of ontology aware technologies that respond and react

Fat Women In Grace Nichols s Fat Black Woman
Being fat and being woman is more than just a physical appearance or characteristic that describe a
body. Being a fat woman explores predominant conditions about size and gender that denote male
power, beauty prejudice and fatphobia (Atayurt, 2010). Grace Nichols in her Fat Black Woman´s
poem (1984) assertively frames the overweight black female figure from its triple displaced position
and exchanges this appearance into the realm of power and bodily pride , challenging different social
and cultural realities (Atayurt, 2010, p. 1). Likewise the feminist fat acceptance movement portrays fat
female from its undesirable connotation and challenges these negative social, political and cultural
assumptions, eliminating the structural barriers fat women face.
Feminist fat acceptance movement attempts to equate fat stigma with other forms of oppression
(racism, classism, ableism, ageism, etc.) due to the political importance of these single fights
(Chastain, 2015). In fact, fat individuals are as diverse as any other group of people such as fat queer
people, fat people with disabilities, fat black people or fat indigenous people (Chastain, 2015). Indeed,
also fat women have been exposed to various oppressions and rigorous beauty standards (James,
2013), medicalized discourses (Afful Ricciardelli, 2015), political expectations and health public
narratives that condemn large bodies (Friedman, 2012).
Therefore, how does the socioeconomic and political context influence the gendered anti fat
narratives? In fact, the gendered anti fat discussions are perpetuated and proliferated across Canada.
First, a critical analysis of the economic, political, social and moral discourses is required to identify
the meaning of power around fat women and how it is implemented. Second, this paper will critically
discuss how to dismantle power from the feminism and fat acceptance movement perspective, and the
role of the stakeholder groups. Third and last, this paper will address my role, responsibility, and
current challenges as a social worker to deconstruct fat oppression narratives.

Physician Assisted Suicide Should Be Considered More Than...
When we think about issues that are surrounded by a lot of debate in bioethics we think about topics
such as Abortion, Stem Cell Research, Genetic Enhancement, Euthanasia and Physician Assisted
Suicide. Each of these debates comes with its own ethical issues and discussion about the
permissibility or impermissibility of each topic. Every one of these topics is complex and deserves
careful consideration when trying to determine what is right ethically and which principles in ethics
need to be considered more than others. The topic of interest in this paper is Physician Assisted
Suicide and the principles that inform our discussion of PAS and how to make sense of the arguments
surrounding PAS. Individuals who are found to be competent and ... Show more content on

When discussing PAS, we are not advocating that anyone who no longer wants to live should have
access to the method of palliative care, instead we are saying that those wishing to request this should
meet certain criteria. The states that have already legalized PAS have set guidelines on when someone
can access these services, and according to Radbruch, In contrast to the legal requirements in
European countries, in Oregon, Washington, [Montana,] and Vermont, patients must have a terminal
physical illness in order to qualify for PAS (Radbruch). So these criteria require the individuals
seeking PAS to have a terminal illness which excludes those who might request this based on their
perceived quality of life. Physician Assisted Suicide is a hot topic and will continue to dominate the
bioethics stage for the foreseeable future. The next concept that needs to be addressed is the slippery
slope argument, Beauchamp explains that in his opinion: Judging from the past track record of our
society, we should seriously take into account that the slope of the trail toward the unjustified taking
of life will be so slippery and precipitous that we ought to never embark on it (Gabriel). One premise
of this argument is that if a system has no clear cut guidelines, there is a lot of room for abuse of the
system to occur. Another premise is that if we allow PAS society might start to value

Life Is A Given Up Goal Essay
Life is a never ending pile of rocks. A climber, like many others, sets his foot on another jagged
looking stone. He alternates between his feet, using his hands to help hoist himself up. The climber
carefully makes his way towards the top. He stares in hope at what he imagined to be the summit.
Blinded by the bright light, the climber loses his rhythm. With several missteps, the climber tumbles
downward. He is hurt with scars and bruises, as he s being pummeled with the rocks he had once
triumphed over. The climber feels defeated, as he lies on the ground, completely given up. People, like
the climber, always want to achieve something more than they already have. We make goals to focus

La Belle Dame Sanns Merci
Comparative poetry essay based on the three poems La Belle Dame Sans Merci by John Keats, Sonnet
116 by William Shakespeare and My Last Duchess by Robert Browning
Poetry is the rhythmical creation of beauty in words . Poetry is a language of art where one is free to
express his feelings without hesitation. Love is a strong and significant emotion that we feel in our
lives at some point that helps us understand our emotions and interpret the world around us. When
expressed in poetry, love can have a lot of meaning and convey a very useful message to the reader.
However, love, being such a powerful emotion, can also be potentially damaging and dangerous.
Contrasting types of love have been revealed in various ways by the three poets in ... Show more

They aimed to obtain a simplistic lifestyle while rejecting industrialism which inspired the setting of
the poem which is located near the sedge. The sedge wither d from the lake. The word sedge creates
an imagery of greenery in the reader s mind which suggests that the environment is peaceful and quiet
with a nature filled aroma. In addition, The squirrel s granary is full, and the harvest s done suggests
that the stanza closes with references to the natural world the squirrel s granary and the harvest serves
as a reminder that winter is just one part of the seasonal cycle, perhaps the final days where life s
meaning begins to slip away, this is associated with the feelings of the knight in La Belle . There is
perhaps a hint here that the knight s suffering is of his own making. There is great emphasis on Keats
use of the cold hillside in La Belle Dame Sans Merci perhaps suggesting how every joyous moment
eventually ends. This is also seen in another poem called The Eve of Saint Agnes where For aye
unsought for slept among his ashes cold. Symbolism of coldness is significant and recurring in his
poems which is similar to La Belle Dame Sans Merci stating The latest dream I ever dreamt. The
poem Sonnet 116 was written during the Elizabethan era in 1609 by William Shakespeare who had a
very modern view of marriage and relationships inclusive of couples and lovers who were seen by him
as more or less equal and believed that people generally married for love. Shakespeare mentions in
Sonnet 116 that Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, but bears it out even to the edge of
doom which suggests that love is a powerful emotion and when two lovers are really in love, they will
do whatever it takes to keep their relationship strong and love will not change over time but will last
until death. In

Cross Cultural Communication Selection And Review
Cross Cultural Communication Selection and Review
As Jeane Kirkpatrick once said, Cross cultural experience and communication teaches us not simply
that people have different beliefs, but that people seek meaning and understand themselves and others
in some sense as members of a universe ruled by God. Effective cross cultural communication with
people of different cultures can be especially challenging. Culture itself provides human beings with
different ways of thinking and responding, which includes a variety of different ways of seeing,
hearing, and interpreting the world. While there are ways of translating the language of other cultures
in order to have the ability to effectively use cross cultural communication (most specifically for
collaborative purposes), the same words can mean different things to different people from different
cultures, even when they speak the same language. In fact, when languages are diverse, and translation
has to be used to communicate (cross cultural), the potential for misunderstandings and difficulty
rises. In the case of Strategies for Smooth and Effective Cross Cultural Online Collaborative Learning

difficulties with cross cultural communication and the findings of a study done by Hangzhou Normal

The Effects Of The Second Sino-Japanese Relations
The Effect of Second Sino Japanese War on Current China Japan Relationships
Introduction Where was this difficult and twisted current relationship between Japan and China come
from? In the news show, the Chinese president never smiled in the front of reporter in the official

awkward and stiff relation with China and Japan date back to the era of Sino Japanese War, which the
war that Japanese invaded China. This war contributed and created the current Sino Japanese

David Hume s Philosophy Of Bad Faith
Jessica, great post!
I really liked your description of the Bad Faith video. It was interesting to hear about what bad faith
actually was, and for you to reiterate my believe that having good faith and optimism will take one to
their true destiny! Also, I like how you described your perspective on Hume s philosophy of identity. I
agree with you, identity is a function of the brain and of one s mental reasoning which is not always
supported by reality. One can see themselves a different way due to their own experiences and formed
perceptions; nonetheless, another individual can see that same person in a completely different light
from their own experiences with them/formed opinions of them.

Great power hegemony
There is a question that which system (empire, balance of power, concert of power or great power
hegemony) provides the best conditions for advancing peace, prosperity and civilization? There are
several opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of each system and the functions, abilities
and disabilities of them to maintaining the peace and stability in international arena. But I want to

For example USA as a hegemonic state pays the 22 percent regular expenditure of United Nation and
25 percent of the budget while UN goes for peacekeeping operations around the world. On the other
hand, the system of balance of power doesn t seem to contribute the cooperation among states but in
contrast it pushes the states to go for a competition and armament race because each state in the
system will increase its capabilities to make the balance in the system. Eventually this competition
will lead nation state to build its arm forces . However, there are some arguments about the weakness
of hegemonic power to prevent states from going to war. They argue that hegemonic power has its
own limitations in term of internal and external barriers to go as policeman around the world. This
arguments see very good and logic. But they don t have any proposal that which system could be the
best to make the world more peaceful and prosperous. So, despite these points of view the other types
of system such as balance of power or concert of power likely aren t good replacement for great power
hegemony system to be succeeded for making peace and stability in the world. So I will try to give
more examples from history of international relations to show the other systems (empire and balance

The Oil And Natural Gas Industries
Around the globe, the oil and natural gas industries are a major part of stable and growing economies,
as well as, the individual lives of most people. As individuals we use it to run our vehicles, heat our
homes, cook, and much more. Economies, on the other hand, rely on the oil and natural gas industries
for the jobs they create, the product they supply, and the added value created by government revenues.
In 2011, these industries in the United States made up 5.6 percent of the nation s total employment,
providing $394 billion in labor income (6 15, American Petroleum Institute). They also contributed an
estimated $410.3 billion to the nation s economy through wages, capital spending, and dividends
totaling 7.1 percent of the United States gross domestic product (GDP) (25 26, American Petroleum
Institute). Those percentages may not seem like much alone, but when you consider that one industry,
out of hundreds in the United States, makes up those numbers, they seem a lot larger. During the 1990
s, oil and natural gas production had hit a snag spreading worry that the U.S. would become reliant on
foreign imports (Inman). One of the world s leading countries in the industry were beginning to fear
the end of a resource that they relied so heavily on.
As traditional oil and gas endeavors began depleting their resources the oil and natural gas industries
were forced to find a new source of extraction if they were to continue producing fossil fuels at the
same rate. This new

Outstanding Football Player Research Paper
Down, Set, Hut! The smell of Fall was in the air, and the sound of football echoed around the stadium.
Many people think that being a successful football player is fairly easy. They claim being big, strong,
and fast is really the only tools you need to be great at the sport. However, the qualities of an
outstanding football player go far beyond just their physical capabilities. The physical aspect of
football of course helps, but it is all the great characteristics put together that will make a player truly
outstanding. The best sign of an outstanding football player is if they have these three qualities: a
strong work ethic, mental toughness, and great leadership.
Great football players aren t just strong, but they have a really amazing work ethic. If a player has a
strong work ethic, he often attempts to do extra. These players will stay an hour after practice is over
making sure they perfect their craft. They strive to be perfect in everything they do, and that is one of
the reasons they make such outstanding football players. The players that show this trait off are the

Another reason why having mental toughness is important is because most of the time, these are the

having mental toughness is important in the 4th quarter and when you are tired. If you lack mental
toughness in these situations then more than likely you are going to give up, and any outstanding

Influence On Mexican Culture
Being born into a small town in Texas where a heavy influence on Mexican culture applies to almost
everyone. It makes me realized that food really plays a major part in identifying myself as a Mexican.
Because the food, makes our culture unique. In addition, learning to make my very first ever batch of
tamales made me realized that it was a memorable experience.
It was early in the morning, and I had just woken up because I hear voices and objects being moved
around in my grandma s kitchen. I got up from the bed and made my way down the hallway straight to
the kitchen. Once I entered the kitchen I saw all of my aunts with my grandma kneading the corn
flour. I just stood there by the wooden door and watched as my aunts would laugh and talk to each
other while the kneaded the corn flour. It was a beautiful sight to see because of the sunlight that was
coming in for the window was hitting their faces and making it look like they were glowing. I started
to look around the medium size room and saw the big dining table in the middle of the kitchen leaving
little space to walk around properly.
I had walked into the kitchen, and all my aunts turned around and saw me standing there. My aunt
Diana told me in Spanish Come over and sit down and help us make tamales for Christmas dinner. It s
about time you start learning our Mexican traditions. So I went and washed my hand before being able
to sit down next to her and she told me to help knead the dough with them. My grandma had

The Status Of The World s Women
The status of the world s women is not only a matter of morality and justice. It is also a political,
economic, and social imperative. The evidence is irrefutable: when women are free to develop their
talents and contribute fully to their societies, everyone benefits.
Hillary Clinton, 5/12/2010
Women are a large portion of the populace, almost 60% possess professional degrees, make up 47% of
the workforce and represent 53% of voters. Despite the fact that they have broken every barrier many
times over, women occupy only 18% of the top management positions across the world. While the
representation of women in noteworthy positions of political and business sectors has enhanced in
some cases, (20 states have female Senators) the leadership pool is still male dominated. The U.S.
places 80th in the world when it comes to female representation in authoritative positions, just ahead
of countries that are openly criticized for their treatment of women, like Iraq and Afghanistan. As of
2014, only 4.2% of CEO positions and under 17% of board seats are held by ladies among Fortune
500 organizations.
Evidence across the region has shown that having more women in senior authority promotes brilliance
in areas of performance. Research demonstrates that organizations with more women in power within
governing bodies are more gainful and have higher profits for value. Having more women with
political authority brings about better choice and strategy making. Well taught women and

Endosulfan Literature Review
Impact of Endosulfan on Male Reproductive functions a review
ABSTRACT
Endosulfan is an organochlorine insecticide and acaracide used to control a broad range of insect and
arthropod pests on a wide variety of crops in many agrosystems. It can cause acute and chronic
toxicity. Endosulfan is a neurotoxin, haematoxin, genotoxin and nephrotoxin. Toxicity of this
insecticide on reproductive organs is confirmed. So this article reviews experimental and
epidemiological studies of reproductive toxicity of endosulfan in males. The Literature search was
carried on PubMed for the years 1994 2014. Twelve experimental studies and two human studies on
Male Reproductive Toxicity induced by endosulfan were identified. Based on the findings, it suggest
that endosulfan can affect the male reproductive system and also that these effects are likely to be
larger if exposure occurs during the developmental phase. Further investigation of endosulfan as
reproductive toxicant is warranted.

The Role Of Religion In Ancient Egypt
This paper is going to focus on the society of the Egyptians and how religion played a role in their
lives. Ancient Egypt has become the first that has developed religion along the Nile River which was
considered the most abundant land with fertile soil. Fertile soil was seen along the banks of the Nile
River producing abundant food and crops for the people to sustain their lives. People of ancient Egypt
worked hard to build homes and villages by mud bricks, everyone lived in houses and homes made of
mud bricks even Pharaohs did so as well. This essay will focus on books concerning with Egyptian
religion and will be using the book The Pyramids of Ancient Egypt written by Aiden Dodson.
Furthermore, the essay will be centered on the Egyptian society concerning with religion. Religion in

BUDO Culture
Column 1
What is BUDO?
The Provenance of BUDO, KARATE
BUDO culture came into existence in Edo era, 1603 1868. Before then, BU, which means combats or
fights, had existed only as ways to kill someone, or ways to climb the ladder of military success. In
other words, BU had not yet combined with DO 道, spiritual and ethical values. So, that hadn t been
called as BUDO, but had called as BU JITSU or BUGEI. 術 JITSU and 芸 GEI, both of them mean
ways to to do something or arts of something, not including ideological and ethical ideas. But,
entering Edo era, arts of war, among samurai class, became one of cultures fused with ancient spiritual
cultures such as Buddhism and Confucianism, ideas of which include ethical reason and courtesy. One

KARATE originated from an ethnic martial art in Ryukyu, which was once an independent islands
country located in southwest of Japan until integrated by Japan in the 19th century. Some skills were,
therefore, handed down mistakenly and others were lost, when being introduced into the main islands
of Japan. And that must be the reason why confusions occurred in KARATE world afterward. Since
then, KARATE had got popular among mainly college students, and despite lack of technical
understanding, and rushed to set rules for its competition. The rules were set in imitation of KENDO,
Japanese fencing. That was the birth of, what is called, SUN DOME rule which prohibits excessive
direct contacting attacks by fists and legs. However, KYOKUSHIN KARATE, one of a large number
of KARATE organizations, created the full contact style rulls. They thought that KARATE should be
BUDO involving actual combat ability, and then, said farewell to ambiguous things called KARATE s
tradition. KARATE shifted its philosophy to seeking the ability and skills as combat sports, keeping its
BUDO essence. On KARATE, every time a new group is formed, the group invents their own original
competition style and rules. On the other hand, other martial arts evolve in accordance with one settled
competition rules. That is because the significance of KARATE s existence is to

Stereotypes Exposed On Skin Color
Stereotypes have existed since humans first began to roam the planet. Early Australopithecus, the first
humans, most likely used stereotypes when deciding their daily task. Stereotypes such as everything
are dangerous and want to kill them. Later as Homo sapiens created cities and civilianization s
stereotypes helped evaluate an incoming threat so they could close the city and gather a defense to
save not only themselves but everything they worked hard to create from those who would kill them
and take the city from them. But modern human s ability to perceive threats have been clouded by
stereotypes base on skin color; to a point where anyone who is different is a threat who needs to be
eliminated. A proactive human whose flight or fight response is to fight will sometimes attack this
perceived threat without any other information aside from the stereotype. These attacks can sometimes
lead to the arrest or death of the threat who, in most cases, was an innocent in the wrong place at the
wrong time. So while stereotypes where essential to survival in early cultures, modern use of
stereotypes have turned to the extremes clouded by hatred of those who are different. In equatorial
Africa a small species of human, Australopithecus, roamed the savannah. In order to survive they
small bipedal species most likely based its day to day decisions such as what food to gather, and
where to sleep, based on the movement and location of larger predators such as lions. They used the

These pieces were then nail together and a template was used to create the curved lines for the timber
tray and it showed how the pacific maple would end up like. The two piece of woods were then
trimmed with a jigsaw and further trimmed with the band saw. The pacific maples were then sanded to
remove the marks created from the band saw. After that, two shorter pieces were chosen and the same
steps were applied. The two pieces were nailed and using a template the handles of the timber tray
were drawn. The drill press was then used to drill holes into the two pieces and then the handles were
made from using a jigsaw. The jigsaw sawed off the wood in marked area from the template. The pair
of handles were sanded to take of any sharp edges and to make the handle smooth. Both pairs of wood
were taken apart so there would be four pieces of wood, two long and two short. Then the finger joint
were made using the finger jointing machine (trimmer router) were when cutting the joint for the
shorter pieces, the end of the longer piece was put up against the shorter piece and then that was
drilled to create the finger joints. Once this process was done, the four pieces were joined up to create
the timber frame. This frame was then glued together using PVA glue. A plywood base was then
picked and the frame was marked on the plywood using a pencil. The base and the frame were put
together with a thin layer of PVA glue and then reinforced with twelve millimeter nails. The base had
four nails along the length and three nails on the width. Nails weren t nailed in the corners because it
could nail into the joint, which would separate the joint and create a gap in the joint. Once the glue
had dried the timber tray was put on the linisher and the timber tray was sanded to remove bits created
by the linisher. After that, linseed oil was applied to the timber tray. Once the oiling process was

My Childhood, Freedom, By Daniel H. Pink
In my childhood, freedom was never a choice. Going to school, working with my father and struggling
to live in a crowed home was everyday life for me. My parents were not bad people, though they
failed to give their children autonomy. Throughout the beginning of the fall semester I have been
captivated by the book we have been reading known as Drive, written by Daniel H. Pink. Pink has
revealed a new way of parental education, which maybe a success. Drive is based on motivation and
its complex characteristics. The book slowly reveals the intrinsic and extrinsic personalities of
motivation. Pink introduces Motivation 2.0, and 3.0. Motivation 2.0 is based on extrinsic motivation
and the response to rewards for participation on different aspects of life. Motivation 3.0 is based on
intrinsic motivation and the will to create, learn, and better oneself by accomplishing personal
achievements. These systems of motivation play a major role in life as we know it, yet let us focus on
the importance of Motivation 3.0. The foundation of Motivation 3.0 is constructed of three elements,
which are autonomy, mastery, and purpose. Pink believes that our modern day society is running on
Motivation 2.0, and is convinced that by converting to Motivation 3.0, it can result in a professional
success and generate personal fulfillment. By implementing Motivation 3.0 into parenting, children
will learn the importance of independence, the desires of perfecting a skill, and the purpose of their

Symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Essay

symptoms categorize under, re experiencing symptoms, avoidance symptoms, and hyper arousal

One would avoid everything that would remind them of the scenario that occurred. These symptoms
include, guild, depression, worry, staying away from anything that reminds them of the event,
difficulty remembering the traumatic event, and incapable of experiencing emotions. Lastly, hyper

for PTSD. Children and teenagers express symptoms differently than adults, however it can be just as
severe. PTSD symptoms in children involve bedwetting, the inability to talk anymore, unusual

The Searchers By John Ford
John Ford s 1956 film, The Searchers, is a classic Western tale set in the staked plains, post Civil War
era. Like most of John Ford s Western films, The Searchers is also filmed in Monument Valley,
Arizona/Utah. John Ford first introduces Ethan Edwards (John Wayne) returning on horseback to his
brother, Aaron Edwards s (Walter Coy) house three years after the Civil War. Ethan is introduced to
Martin Pawley (Jeffery Hunter), the adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwards. The film moves forward
when Rev. Captain Clayton (Ward Bond) volunteers Ethan, Marty, and a group of men to search for
the Jorgensen s missing cattle. The search turns its tracks when the men realize that the Edwards
family have been killed by the Comanche Indians, and Debbie (Natalie Wood) and Lucy (Pippa Scott)
are taken by Scar. Although Ethan is the anti hero, him and Marty are the protagonists of The
Searchers. Both Ethan and Marty s lives are flipped upside down and are now on a journey to save
Debbie and Lucy. The antagonist, Scar, is possibly considered Ethan s alter ego because they share
several similarities. Throughout the film, Ethan and Marty face many challenges accepting their
background and issues. The overall meaning of the film is to let go of the past and accept what the
future has to offer; John Ford s use of paradigm, style, and themes drives the overall meaning
throughout the film.
Notably, John Ford s paradigm moves the overall meaning of the film by the structure of the events

Summary-Literary Analysis of Mommy, What Does Nigger Mean...
In Mommy, What Does Nigger Mean? , author Gloria Naylor explains throughout her piece that
reality shapes language and language can shape reality. Naylor explains this, chicken or the egg
dispute (Naylor 1) through her experiences with the word nigger. Gloria explains how she starts on
one side of reality and shaping her language, then comes to another understanding from the boy in her
third grade class. Language can be how words are used, what their meaning is and the purpose behind
that selection of words. Reality is everyday life and experiences. When in third grade Naylor
encounters nigger as a racial derogatory when a boy said nigger to her while receiving graded tests

An instance of her exemplification is by calling someone a, trifling nigger (Naylor 2) is to say that
person has a bad reputation of being drunk, foul or rude. Calling another person that name may be
demeaning to their reputation but in no way does it discriminate against them racially. A second
exemplifying definition is the possessive adjective use by a woman to her boyfriend or husband.
When that woman calls her man my nigger (Naylor 2) it means a term of endearment or a compliment.
By defining a word specifically one can alter the meaning and the reality of that word through
language while excluding prejudice.
Although exemplification plays a big role in proving Naylor s ideas, refutation backs up the examples
and adds more content. Through instances of refutation she proves a great deal of supportive
information to establish her ideas effectiveness by softening opposing opinions. Gloria shows
refutation by exemplification of definitions that have no racial prejudice and how those accepted
definitions from her family modeled her language. Another example of a definition used in the family
is when talking about approval of a trait. In the passage the speaker says, I m telling you, that nigger
pulled in $6,000 of overtime last year. (Naylor 2). The trait being approved of here would be drive or
determination resulting in success. The second piece of negation is that the people in people in

Other cultures tend to use an indirect form of communication where their true response is embedded
in the presentation of the message. Accents and fluency problems also cause barriers as it is hard to

have an idea of how to say something in their head but can t find the words in another language to

Some individuals on the team might also want to be treated according to their status in the

flat structure. Team members from some cultures, are uncomfortable on flat teams (Brett, Behfar, and
Kern, 2006, p. 124). It is important to recognize the hierarchy structure of the country and how their
citizens handle conflict before conducting business with them. Lastly, different cultures have
conflicting norms when it comes to decision making. Some cultures like to make decisions quickly
while others want to think about the decision and analyze it before coming to a conclusion as far as
action to take (Brett, Behfar, and Kern, 2006).

Ophelia And Hamlet Character Analysis
Strength and weakness are the two extremes between which Ophelia and Gertrude oscillate. Despite
their characters being viewed as powerless victims, their paradoxical nature makes them unique and
representative of human dilemmas. If these characters were fully formed, they would not allow us to
fully understand the patriarchal mindset of the time. Polonius and Hamlet manipulate Ophelia.
Ophelia`s voice remains ignored as the other characters and plan. However, her final act of taking her
own life signifies a strength of sorts. Gertrude appears to extensively try to keep the peace between
Claudius and Hamlet. Though Hamlet hurts and disrespects Gertrude, she never retaliates or demands
respect. Though her actions seem weak, she shows strength when she agrees that many of her actions
may be sinful. Therefore, the paradoxical nature of both these women characters presents an
interesting contrast.
Ophelia plays a role in the court; to keep her chaste treasure (1.3.32) and to be married according to
her father s wishes. Ophelia must not give her thoughts no tongue (1.3.59) about marriage as her
father controls who and when she marries. Ophelia is powerless to act against her father s decisions
regarding Hamlet who walks with a larger tether (1.3.125) and is a prince. The marriage that Ophelia
dreams of is unlikely, due to her status as a commoner. Polonius charge[s] (Ophelia) (1.3.134) to never
talk with Hamlet again. Ophelia is also utilized by Polonius to carry out his devious plans. Ophelia is
positioned in the garden by accident (3.1.30) to encounter Hamlet. Polonius knows of Hamlet`s
disdain and does not take this into consideration before placing Ophelia in the Garden. Polonius
makes no effort to ask if Ophelia is in agreement with his plan. Ophelia is manipulated yet again, by
Polonius s actions and is at the receiving end of the harsh words; Get thee to a nunnery (3.1.121) from
Hamlet. Ophelia`s future lies in the hands of Polonius and Hamlet. Ophelia is thus seen as a one
dimension character who has no free will.
Ophelia is controlled by these male characters that insult and hurt her yet, she manages to break free
of these men by making a remarkable show of strength; taking her own life.

Muhammad Ali Fighting Style Analysis
Introduction:
Muhammad Ali is known as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers in the world. He was a
Charismatic Entertainer, Civil Rights Activist and an Avid Trash Talker. He was known as the man
who could float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. Ali had a very unique fighting style which many
believe gave him an advantage over his opponents. He combined speed with punching power.
However, Ali s deadliest weapon was not his fists but it was his ability to break down his opponent s
Psyche and exhaust them before throwing a fatal punch. This fighting style/tactic can be seen in the
famous fight between George Foreman and Muhammad Ali known as The Rumble in the Jungle .
During this particular fight in 1974, Ali Taunted Foreman using phrases such as: Hit harder! Show me
something, George That don t hurt. I thought you were supposed to be bad . Foreman was enraged, his
confidence was weakened and so Foreman punched away furiously, wasting his energy. After Eight
rounds, Ali threw his last punch and just like that. The fight was over. Foreman was defeated.
Muhammad Ali used Trash Talk to intimidate and discourage his opponents and it worked!
Rebuilding the Walls:
This is not a new tactic. In fact, there are several examples of Trash Talk in the Bible. When Nehemiah
heard about the condition of his people in Jerusalem and that the temple and walls lay in ruins, he was
grieved. Nehemiah decided to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Nehemiah 4:1 tells us that, when

creative ideas, but she is suffering since she lacks solid classroom management skills. I thought the
rookie teacher would figure out some solutions over the summer, so far, little improvement has been
noticed. Linda seems discouraged, and I am concerned that Linda will become another statistic
another sprightly young teacher who ends up leaving a career that can t afford to lose somebody with
her kind of potential. I realized that potential and determined to step in with some support. With this in
mind, I arrange a meeting with Ms. Linda. Pre observation conference: This is a formative conference
between a novice teacher, Ms. Linda and the supervisor, me. I was seated behind my desk as Ms.
Linda walked in. I invited Ms. Linda to sit down in a chair directly across from me.
Supervisor: Ms. Linda, I would like you to know I really appreciate your insistent belief and zeal for
work. I admire the wonderful ideas you have brought to our curriculum. I am especially impressed
about the bulletin board decorated in your classroom. I noticed that you tried very hard to maintain
your classroom organized. I wonder if you have any concerns that you would like to share with me.
Ms. Linda: Thanks for offering this chance to discuss my thoughts with you. I actually need your
support to get through this problem. I have discovered that I had a difficult time to manage the circle
time since several children always misbehaved at that moment. I don t know how to bring their

The Interpretation Of The South On Alternate Voices, And...
Franklin opened the interpretation of the South to alternate voices, and gave a firm framework on
establishing the different perspectives relevant for Woodward s experiential not one South thesis. The
points of contention between their interpretations are telling about Southern histories, and their
reputations evidenced the lingering effects of institutionalized racism, as Woodward often gets credit
for opening Southern history to African American narratives. However, it was Franklin that did it first
and allowed for agency, while Woodward s narratives most featured black victimization/victimhood.
Despite some differences in interpretation, Franklin and Woodward would become two of the most
influential historians of the twentieth century. Only recently does it seems more women, more
minorities, more identities are writing southern history from their unique viewpoints and
interpretations. All of them aided by the path laid by Franklin. His influence is clear in the works of
Tera Hunter, Mary Hoffschwelle, Karen Cox, Pippa Holloway, and all of the most recent histories of
the South.Franklin s essays mirrored role of African American in Southern historiography. Starting
out, African Americans were given little or no attention at all, then came outright racist histories, then
blacks as subjects of white actions/ideologies, and finally, blacks as full historical actors, controlling
their own lives, demonstrating their own agency, controlling their own narratives.

Nowadays there are a lot of people who have special behavior and independent character. Their
unusual behavior and dressing often attract others. However, sticking out is not suitable for female in

some studies about the personal independence of conduct. And she also gives many examples about
some unusual people. She refers to a person should stick out in a particular environment which can

  • 2. Asia To America Interview February 22nd, 2016, on a rare sunny afternoon in the middle of a forested, I interviewed my mother Theresa Lim in our home in Federal Way, Washington. It was a simple and friendly conversation to know about one specific person for an English assignment. We sat in our kitchen at the dinner table, both across each other, we started the interview. Luckily, the two other people living in the household, my brother and father, were not home and were running errands out of town. The house was calm and quiet, an echo could be heard from from upstairs if someone spoke with the intent to be heard. I wanted her story to be heard because not only would the interview be conducted easily and smoothly, but her journey from Asia to America was an interesting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Order And Its Effect On Society Every day social order is taken for granted. Social order is related to social realities, which are shared expectations about a chain of events, the types of people involved and associated behaviors and feelings (O Brien, 2011). It is not until someone violates these realities and interactional routines that they recognize the difference and become aware. For this reason, during the 1950s, Harold Garfinkel developed the breaching experiment; a breaching experiment is an activity used in social science to breach or violate common, taken for granted understandings and practices of everyday life in order to better understand it. This showed that reality maintenance requires a lot of interactional work. The objective of a breaching experiment is to disrupt normal procedures so that the process by which everyday life is constructed or reconstructed can be observed and studied. An example of one of the breaching experiments Garfinkel did, was when he asked students to spend time in their homes acting like boarders asking permission, being polite and formal, etc. The results concluded that students reported family members who expressed shock, anxiety, embarrassment and anger towards their behaviors. Some of the implications of this is that it is important that people act in accord with commonsense assumptions with how they are supposed to behave. Therefore, we are all participants in the construction and maintenance of everyday cultural realities (O Brien, p. 343 348, 2011). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story is based in the 1950 s about a boy who struggles to fit in and to understand human nature in a quest he pursues to find himself and his place in this world. The Catcher In The Rye is still relevant to people today because the emotions people felt back then are exactly the same today, many people still struggle to find themselves, and although the times have changed, many people still act and have the same necessities as before. This theory states that neither a transformational leadership model, nor a transactional model of leadership is going to work all the time and in all situations. Therefore, the philosophy of a leader should be flexible enough to adapt to situations and changing times, and we will have to use a combination of transformational and transactional leadership techniques to get the job done ( Pros and Cons of , n.d., para. 9). The rudimentary idea behind Situational theory is that we need to adapt our strategy to the changing of conditions. Contingency theory The contingency theory is a theory that states that to be an effective leader we should rely on not only on the style of leading but, on the control over a situation, so there needs to be a good leader member relations ( Fiedler s Contingency Theory , n.d., para. 3), and must have a task in mind with a clear procedure and goals, and the skill for rewards and punishments when needed. This theory in general state that effectiveness will depend on the nature of the task, situation, leader s personality, make up of the group being led, and the factors involved. • 9. Fat Women In Grace Nichols s Fat Black Woman Being fat and being woman is more than just a physical appearance or characteristic that describe a body. Being a fat woman explores predominant conditions about size and gender that denote male power, beauty prejudice and fatphobia (Atayurt, 2010). Grace Nichols in her Fat Black Woman´s poem (1984) assertively frames the overweight black female figure from its triple displaced position and exchanges this appearance into the realm of power and bodily pride , challenging different social and cultural realities (Atayurt, 2010, p. 1). Likewise the feminist fat acceptance movement portrays fat female from its undesirable connotation and challenges these negative social, political and cultural assumptions, eliminating the structural barriers fat women face. Feminist fat acceptance movement attempts to equate fat stigma with other forms of oppression (racism, classism, ableism, ageism, etc.) due to the political importance of these single fights (Chastain, 2015). In fact, fat individuals are as diverse as any other group of people such as fat queer people, fat people with disabilities, fat black people or fat indigenous people (Chastain, 2015). Indeed, also fat women have been exposed to various oppressions and rigorous beauty standards (James, 2013), medicalized discourses (Afful Ricciardelli, 2015), political expectations and health public narratives that condemn large bodies (Friedman, 2012). Therefore, how does the socioeconomic and political context influence the gendered anti fat narratives? In fact, the gendered anti fat discussions are perpetuated and proliferated across Canada. First, a critical analysis of the economic, political, social and moral discourses is required to identify the meaning of power around fat women and how it is implemented. Second, this paper will critically discuss how to dismantle power from the feminism and fat acceptance movement perspective, and the role of the stakeholder groups. In addition, The squirrel s granary is full, and the harvest s done suggests that the stanza closes with references to the natural world the squirrel s granary and the harvest serves as a reminder that winter is just one part of the seasonal cycle, perhaps the final days where life s meaning begins to slip away, this is associated with the feelings of the knight in La Belle . There is perhaps a hint here that the knight s suffering is of his own making. There is great emphasis on Keats use of the cold hillside in La Belle Dame Sans Merci perhaps suggesting how every joyous moment eventually ends. This is also seen in another poem called The Eve of Saint Agnes where For aye unsought for slept among his ashes cold. Symbolism of coldness is significant and recurring in his poems which is similar to La Belle Dame Sans Merci stating The latest dream I ever dreamt. The poem Sonnet 116 was written during the Elizabethan era in 1609 by William Shakespeare who had a very modern view of marriage and relationships inclusive of couples and lovers who were seen by him as more or less equal and believed that people generally married for love. Shakespeare mentions in Sonnet 116 that Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, but bears it out even to the edge of doom which suggests that love is a powerful emotion and when two lovers are really in love, they will do whatever it takes to keep their relationship strong and love will not change over time but will last until death. Culture itself provides human beings with different ways of thinking and responding, which includes a variety of different ways of seeing, hearing, and interpreting the world. • 28. Stereotypes Exposed On Skin Color Stereotypes have existed since humans first began to roam the planet. Early Australopithecus, the first humans, most likely used stereotypes when deciding their daily task. Stereotypes such as everything are dangerous and want to kill them. Later as Homo sapiens created cities and civilianization s stereotypes helped evaluate an incoming threat so they could close the city and gather a defense to save not only themselves but everything they worked hard to create from those who would kill them and take the city from them. But modern human s ability to perceive threats have been clouded by stereotypes base on skin color; to a point where anyone who is different is a threat who needs to be eliminated. A proactive human whose flight or fight response is to fight will sometimes attack this perceived threat without any other information aside from the stereotype. These attacks can sometimes lead to the arrest or death of the threat who, in most cases, was an innocent in the wrong place at the wrong time. So while stereotypes where essential to survival in early cultures, modern use of stereotypes have turned to the extremes clouded by hatred of those who are different. In equatorial Africa a small species of human, Australopithecus, roamed the savannah. My parents were not bad people, though they failed to give their children autonomy. Throughout the beginning of the fall semester I have been captivated by the book we have been reading known as Drive, written by Daniel H. Pink. Pink has revealed a new way of parental education, which maybe a success. Drive is based on motivation and its complex characteristics. The book slowly reveals the intrinsic and extrinsic personalities of motivation. Pink introduces Motivation 2.0, and 3.0. Motivation 2.0 is based on extrinsic motivation and the response to rewards for participation on different aspects of life. Motivation 3.0 is based on intrinsic motivation and the will to create, learn, and better oneself by accomplishing personal achievements. These systems of motivation play a major role in life as we know it, yet let us focus on the importance of Motivation 3.0. The foundation of Motivation 3.0 is constructed of three elements, which are autonomy, mastery, and purpose. Pink believes that our modern day society is running on Motivation 2.0, and is convinced that by converting to Motivation 3.0, it can result in a professional success and generate personal fulfillment. Like most of John Ford s Western films, The Searchers is also filmed in Monument Valley, Arizona/Utah. John Ford first introduces Ethan Edwards (John Wayne) returning on horseback to his brother, Aaron Edwards s (Walter Coy) house three years after the Civil War. Ethan is introduced to Martin Pawley (Jeffery Hunter), the adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwards. The film moves forward when Rev. A second exemplifying definition is the possessive adjective use by a woman to her boyfriend or husband. When that woman calls her man my nigger (Naylor 2) it means a term of endearment or a compliment. By defining a word specifically one can alter the meaning and the reality of that word through language while excluding prejudice. • 38. Ophelia And Hamlet Character Analysis Strength and weakness are the two extremes between which Ophelia and Gertrude oscillate. Despite their characters being viewed as powerless victims, their paradoxical nature makes them unique and representative of human dilemmas. If these characters were fully formed, they would not allow us to fully understand the patriarchal mindset of the time. Polonius and Hamlet manipulate Ophelia. Ophelia`s voice remains ignored as the other characters and plan. However, her final act of taking her own life signifies a strength of sorts. Gertrude appears to extensively try to keep the peace between Claudius and Hamlet. Though Hamlet hurts and disrespects Gertrude, she never retaliates or demands respect. Though her actions seem weak, she shows strength when she agrees that many of her actions may be sinful. Therefore, the paradoxical nature of both these women characters presents an interesting contrast. Ophelia plays a role in the court; to keep her chaste treasure (1.3.32) and to be married according to her father s wishes. Ophelia must not give her thoughts no tongue (1.3.59) about marriage as her father controls who and when she marries. Ophelia is powerless to act against her father s decisions regarding Hamlet who walks with a larger tether (1.3.125) and is a prince. The marriage that Ophelia dreams of is unlikely, due to her status as a commoner. Polonius charge[s] (Ophelia) (1.3.134) to never talk with Hamlet again. Ophelia is also utilized by Polonius to carry out his devious plans. Ophelia is positioned in the garden by accident (3.1.30) to encounter Hamlet. Polonius knows of Hamlet`s disdain and does not take this into consideration before placing Ophelia in the Garden. Polonius makes no effort to ask if Ophelia is in agreement with his plan. Ophelia is manipulated yet again, by Polonius s actions and is at the receiving end of the harsh words; Get thee to a nunnery (3.1.121) from Hamlet. Ophelia`s future lies in the hands of Polonius and Hamlet. Ophelia is thus seen as a one dimension character who has no free will.
