This document discusses cognitive models of multimedia learning and learning objects. It defines instructional multimedia as the combination of audio, graphics, video, and text delivered electronically to foster learning. The multimedia principle is explained as students learning better from words and pictures than from words alone. Learning objects are defined as independent collections of content, media, and metadata that should ideally be objective-based, interactive, and self-contained. The benefits of learning objects for learners include just-in-time training, individualized learning, and focusing on areas needing improvement. Several learning object repositories are listed. The project asks learners to locate 3 learning objects for their current topic and link them in the presentation.
