This is my slideshow for my ULearn11 breakout:
We have been using e-Portfolios with Year 1 to 6 students at Elm Park School since 2007 and shortly afterwards made the decision to use our e-Portfolios as our sole method of reporting to parents. During this presentation we will discuss our ongoing journey to implement e-Portfolios school-wide, our purpose behind the decision to start the journey, the successes and the challenges - warts and all! We’ll have a look at some e-Portfolios examples and share the professional development, resources, equipment and web 2.0 tools that we have found most useful to help us along the way.
We use KnowledgeNET’s Learning Journals at Elm Park School to create our e-Portfolios but this workshop will also be of interest to those using other applications.

iTRACK
The intelligent track system
Simply intelligent
A track system is an ideal solution for large spaces where many luminaires have to work in unison. This level of functionality, unfortunately, often comes at a price. Complex and time intensive installation is a traditional characteristic of these solutions, where the slightest change easily transforms into an in-depth project. Limitations within the track systems of today often force a choice between functions and types of fixture. That’s why Fagerhult developed iTrack; a system which refuses to compromise.
Low iron counts and even anaemia due to iron deficiency is a widespread problem. Among adolescents, it will bring consequences on growth, school performance, morbidity and reproductive performance.
Iron deficiency also has several negative physical symptoms such as tiredness, headaches and difficulty to concentrate.
Conventional iron deficiency treatment with pharmacological iron doses often causes side effects such as abdominal pain, constipation and diarrhoea.
Uptake for heme iron is 20 – 40 %. (Non-heme 2 - 4 %)
Heme iron is very well tolerated. There are no known unpleasant side-effects. Uptake or tolerance will not change over time.

Supporting integration through incidental learningAndrew Brasher
The Maseltov project (“Mobile Assistance for Social Inclusion and Empowerment of Immigrants with Persuasive Learning Technologies and Social Network Services”, http://www.maseltov.eu/ ) project recognises major risks for social exclusion of immigrants and identifies the potential of mobile services for promoting integration and cultural diversity in Europe.
The project intends to exploit the potential of mobile services for promoting integration and cultural diversity in Europe, and is focusing on support for immigrants with particular needs e.g. those who have not learned foreign languages, and who have a cultural background that contrasts with that of their host country.
We will present the first iteration of an incidental learning framework developed within the Maseltov project. This framework is intended to facilitate the coordination of existing technologies, content, pedagogies, processes and practices into learning services that can be used effectively by immigrants, their networks and mentors so as to increase immigrants’ ability to function in an unfamiliar society. When fully developed, the framework is intended to support the design of learning experiences which show
(i) how incremental, opportunistic, social and game-based learning can be applied to immigrants problems, (ii) which content areas can be offered and combined (from among language, culture, information access, mobility, health care, etc.), and (iii) which technologies are best suited for each type of content and interaction.
A full description of the Incidental Learning Framework is provided by Brasher et al (2012).

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Apple includes assistive technology in its products as
standard features — at no additional cost.
For example, iPhone, iPad, iPod, and OS X include screen
magnification and VoiceOver, a screen-access technology,
for the blind and visually impaired.
To assist those with cognitive and learning disabilities,
every Mac includes an alternative, simplified user interface
that rewards exploration and learning. And, for those who
find it difficult to use a mouse, every Mac computer
includes Mouse Keys, Slow Keys, and Sticky Keys, which
adapt the computer to the user’s needs and capabilities.
