Sarbanes-Oxley Act Case Study
The Sarbanes Oxley Act also helped managers see that their companies had many weaknesses, such as
lack of enforcement of existing policies, unnecessary complexity, clogged communications, and a
feeble compliance culture (2006), per the Harvard Business Review. Managers and executives could
recognize their company s weaknesses because SOX requires publicly traded companies to be
standardized. Section 302 explains the corporate responsibility behind the financial reports, such as
how the CEO and CFO must be involved in the auditing process and how they must report any fraud
that they see in the reports. This section forced managers to overlook their internal audits and
therefore helped them to see what needed to be done to improve the financial ... Show more content on

Even though it is a requirement for publicly traded companies, private and nonprofit companies
benefit from it as well. Executives and management follow SOX s practices and benefit from the
positive outcomes. Private and nonprofit companies have also improved their documentation system,
improved policies and procedures, and updated or added whistleblower policies. Many private and
nonprofit companies are implementing SOX requirements to improve their companies overall
operations. The Sarbanes Oxley Act therefore has been beneficial not only to publicly traded
companies, but also to private and nonprofit companies, improving the accounting system in

Posada
Mexico celebrates christmas from Dec. 12th to Jan. 6th. From the 16th to christmas eve some of the
children perform a reenactment called the Posada . If you didn t know Posada is Spanish for Lodging
or Inn. They have nine Posadas. When they get into the Posadas they decorate with moss, evergreens,
and paper lanterns. Each Posada children get a board and candles. They have them to hold painted
figures of Mary and Joseph riding on a donkey. They go down the streets and sing songs to each
home. The song they sing when they go to the houses is about mary and joseph asking for a room in
the Posada. The children are told that there is now room so they must go away. Soon after they are told
there is room so they are welcomed in. Once they enter they say prayers and celebrate by having a
party with food, games and fireworks. Each night a different house holds the Posada party. On the last
night of Posadas there is a whole bunch shepherds on a board. When the posada is done there is a
figure of baby jesus in a manger on the board and then there is a church service. After the church ...

A piñata is a decorated clay or papier mâché jar filled with sweets and hung from the ceiling or tree
branch. The piñata is often decorated like a ball with seven peaks around it. The spikes represent the
seven deadly sins . Piñata s can also be in the form of an animal or bird.To play the game, children are
blindfolded and take turns to hit the piñata with a stick until it splits open and the sweets pour out.
Then the children rush to pick up as many sweets as they can! As well as the posada s, another type of
Christmas play known as Pastorelas (The Shepherds). These tell the story of the shepherds going to
find the baby Jesus and are often very funny. The devil tries to stop them by tempting them along the
way. But the shepherds always get there in the end, often with the help of the Archangel Michael, who

Guantanamo Bay At The Southeastern Tip Of Cuba
In the Caribbean at the southeastern tip of Cuba is Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. The United States
began leasing this area in 1903 making it the oldest overseas U.S. Navy base. Guantanamo Bay allows
the U.S. an area to establish a detention facility in a secure and isolated location eliminating any
chance the detainees could escape and return back to their countries. In addition, Guantanamo Bay
allowed the U.S. to avoid bringing those individuals suspected of terrorism from entering domestic
soil. As of today, Guantanamo Bay only holds 80 detainees. Since the attack on the World Trade
Center, the US has been holding detainees without trial and there have been reports of torture being
used. This is not only unconstitutional but also immoral, Guantanamo Bay needs to be shut down.
Throughout the last 15 years of operation, Guantanamo Bay has faced endless criticism from both
international countries and the US. The biggest issue is the legal black hole that exists at Guantanamo
Bay and the concern over interrogation techniques and torture. We are able to torture prisoners
because of how George W Bush described the war. Bush thought it was a new kind of war and that
this meant the Americans didn t need adhere the rules of the Geneva Convention, explains Professor
Honigsberg from the University of San Francisco. The convention says prisoners of war must be
treated humanely during a war. But Bush didn t call them prisoners of war but enemy combatants .

Macbeth And Robin Talley s As I Descended By William...
Throughout the history of literature, classic tales have been adapted and rewritten by various authors.
While this practice is more conspicuously noted in popular culture, it has existed for centuries. For
instance, while Gil Junger s 1999 romantic comedy 10 Things I Hate About You is obviously a
retelling of William Shakespeare s Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare s own Romeo and Juliet is an
adaptation of Ovid s Pyramus and Thisbe from Metamorphoses. As a result, retellings are only a
natural occurrence in literature and can oftentimes convey the basic story in new and exciting ways.
On the other hand, retellings can also miss the mark, failing to produce a story that can triumphantly
stand on its own as a work of art. For example, Robin Talley s As I Descended is a modern retelling of
William Shakespeare s Macbeth, being adapted to fall within the genre of young adult literature. When
evaluating As I Descended as a retelling, the characters and basic plot of Macbeth can be identified,
but an added underlying story that introduces unnecessary plot points both causes frustration and
overcomplicates the novel. In Talley s As I Descended, any reader who possesses background
knowledge of Macbeth can easily identify the play s principal characters and overall plot. Without a
doubt, Lord and Lady Macbeth are personified by Maria, the story s main protagonist who carries out
evil deeds for her own success, and Lily, the mastermind who manipulates Maria, respectively.

The Abortion Controversy Essay
The controversy within the biomedical ethics topic, abortion, has two main proponents. The first is the
view against abortion, also known as pro life. The other view is rooted upon the belief of being pro
choice, or basically for abortions. These two different views are like two mathematical principles, in
that although these two views have many differences, they also have larger similarities in the
background. For example, when pro choice activists support abortions due to unwanted pregnancies,
the activists are not rallying behind the idea of sexual incompetency (pregnancies due to lack of birth
control). Rather, they are supporting the idea that women have the right to choose what to do with
their own bodies. In order to understand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They believe that through love, and guidance anyone with any form of deformity or disease, can lead a
normal life. The cases pertaining to rape also have different anti abortionists views. Many anti
abortionists believe that the child can actually help the mother get through the turbulent times in her
life, by providing each other with a loving environment. Finally, in the case of economics, the pro life
activists believe that having an abortion due to financial reasons is ridiculous. Because, it doesn t
mean that the child will have a life full of isolation and depression. The pro life activists argue that
there are also numerous welfare programs for such families. However, the pro choice or the activists
for abortions, argue that if a family is in a state of financial trouble, then abortion should be a practical
option. Otherwise, the child would be born into a life of suffering, and inadequate living conditions.
The pro choice believers, bases their beliefs, upon the fact that having an abortion is the inalienable
right of women. They believe that by outlawing abortions, women aren t allowed to practice their
freedom of privacy. In a way, women are being denied their constitutional rights. Many pro choice
activists also state that abortion is justifiable, because at the time of fertilization the ensuing embryo is
not yet a human being. It is not a human being, but a potential one. Therefore, its death does not
constitute a murder. Pro choice activists

My Reflection Of Me
I don t know about you, but I don t often star at myself in the mirror, studying my own face. Does
anybody? The longest amount of time I spend looking at myself is when I m shaving, and even then, I
m just concentrating on not being a klutz and cutting myself open. I m not being down on myself or
looking for attention or any such nonsense like that. I mean, I don t even have a Facebook. It s just
that, gazing upon my reflection is just not something I do. I get out of the shower, I shave, brush my
teeth, and I m gone, on to whatever the day has in store for me. Another thing I m not used to is the
clarity of the face.
I should back up a moment, so you understand. I have, for the better part of a month, been having a
recurring dream that unsettles me. In it, I am staring at myself in a mirror and it is devoid of the dream
quality one expects from the images in their brain. In dreams, whenever I see someone who is
supposed to be me or someone I have known for years, the face is different, sometimes subtly, other
times it is completely different. But in this mirror, in this reflection that comes through in my reverie,
it is my face, perfectly so, no blur or changes or oddly shaped parts. The eyes are the same dull blue
that they ve always been, my nose, slightly long but not weirdly so, although there is a curve at the
bridge where I broke it falling from my bike when I was twelve. My ears are normal looking, my
eyebrows a tad bushy but otherwise fine with no unibrow,

Arranged Marriage Vs Love Marriage
The debate amongst love marriage and arranged marriage will never stop. That is not the goal.
Everyone goes about marriage a different way. Having the choice between an arranged marriage and a
love marriage is helpful for many people. There are many more advantages to an arranged marriage
than a love marriage. In the past, arranged marriages were the most popular, but modern times have
shifted the view to more love marriages despite the disadvantages accompanying it. Family is so
important. An arranged marriage is accepted by the bride and groom as they believe their elders are
able to make the best decision when it comes to who the marry. An arranged marriage focuses on
family union. This establishes trust amongst family members and automatically the new addition to
the family has immense approval, something a love marriage may not have. For example, say a
woman goes out and marries a man. She shows him to the family and they disapprove of him. They
say he is not right for her. This upsets the daughter and the husband, and creates a family divide. This
creates a situation where the woman must choose between two things she loves. This could all be
avoided by arranged marriage. Arranged marriages presuppose that two people are perfectly matched
because they belong to the same culture, share the same religious upbringing, speak the same
language, and raised in more or less the same socio economic class. These identical backgrounds
make it easier for the couple to communicate with each other and understand where each is coming
from. Decisions in the upbringing of future children and their education leave little room for
disparities in their thinking because of this likeness. The preapproval of the spouse solves a plethora of
unnecessary issues. Divorce is so common in America. It has gotten to a point that staying together for
life and honoring your vows is rare. This causes severe emotional trauma and is such a hassle. The
actual statistics for divorce in a love marriage in America is 45%. This is saying almost half of love
marriages fail. When you look over to the statistics of arranged marriage in India there is an enormous
difference. The percentage of arranged

J.R.R. Tolkien Biography Essay examples
J.R.R. Tolkien was born in South Africa, although he considered himself a British man throughout his
adulthood. He experienced World War I firsthand in the trenches. He was a professor of Old English
and other archaic languages and had a strong love for such languages. Tolkien also felt a strong tie for
his homeland, England, and desired to create mythology for England. Tolkien was able to write the
first modern fantasy novel through his life experiences and his love for archaic languages and British
lore. Tolkien s mother, Mabel Suffield, left England in March of 1891 for South Africa to marry a man

As an avid reader, Tolkien was influenced by some of the great writers of his day including G.K.
Chesterton and H.G. Wells (Rayment). Mabel decided to join the Roman Catholic Church, splitting
herself and the children from both sides of the family. In 1904, Mabel Tolkien was diagnosed as
having diabetes. She passed away in November of that year leaving the two orphaned boys destitute.
The family s priest, Father Francis took over, and took care of the children. Already, Tolkien displayed
a remarkable skill for language. He proficiently learned Latin and Greek and was quickly became
competent in a number of other languages, including Gothic and Finnish. He was already busy making
up his own languages solely for entertainment (Doughan). At his boarding house, Tolkien fell in love
with a young woman named Edith Bratt. Tolkien and Edith were caught in affectionate circumstances
and so their relationship was frowned upon. Edith began to distract Tolkien s studies, and so Father
Morgan split the young couple. At first try, Tolkien failed to enter college. Tolkien temporarily ended
his affection and worked fruitfully and was awarded a scholarship to Oxford (Rayment). While
attending Oxford, Tolkien found Edith Bratt and proposed. Edith accepted the proposal and the couple
married in 1906. World War I arrived in 1914. Tolkien saw many of his comrades pass away, and he

If an actor finds herself getting extremely nervous or if the attempt at raising her self confidence does
not work, she can try to calm herself down by thinking of things that make her happy and excited.
These thoughts take the mind away from what is going on and soothe the actor into a more calm state
suitable for performance.
Sarah closed her eyes and tried thinking of different things that could possibly calm her down. She
thought of her dog back at home and how he would run after the tennis ball she threw; she thought of
her friends and all the fun they had when they went dancing. Sarah grew a big smile on her face until
she suddenly heard someone from the stage calling Juliet! She opened her eyes and jumped up. It was
only her name being stated, not her cue. She was relieved.
Smiling in relief, Sarah looked back out on stage. She saw the actors and saw the audience, and began
feeling that tingling sensation in her hands once again and immediately sat back down. She tried
closing her eyes and thinking of those happy times as she did before, but it did not help anymore, she
was too startled from hearing her name. She got up and paced back and forth back stage trying to
think of what she was taught to do in this situation, What am I going to do? she asked herself, What
am I going to do?
Sarah remembered what one of her teachers had told her... the main cause of stage fright is anxiety
(which she tried overcoming earlier).

Essay on International Copyright vs. Online Piracy
Humans create. We sell what we make for profit on this modern marvel of a global market. The times
we live in are the golden days of information and technology. As we stride towards better and more
efficient computers and software, information becomes easier and easier to obtain. But with this new
era of technological advancement comes with something else as well; art. Television shows, music,
books, video games, and movies are blooming as media is more recognized on a global scale.
However, humans always want something for less of a cost. We go out of our way to get the things we

This new function of file sharing was dubbed Peer to Peer (P2P) sharing. This allowed users to share
files through an app based network rather than just downloading off a site directly. Napster was
eventually shut down after a long drawn out court battle. Many other P2P services followed in Napster
s wake, but were eventually shut down due to easily being tracked by the government. Thus, a new
method of piracy was needed, one that boasted anonymity for users. The Pirate Bay answered with Bit
Torrents. Bit Torrents allowed users to download from other users, but rather than from just one, bits
of a downloaded files are randomly pieced together from thousands of sources. However, The Pirate
Bay, unlike other sites, was different. Its servers, as well as the men who founded the site, are

American (as well as other nations ) copyrights don t stand in Swedish courts. This seemingly
untouchable strategy still stands today, as The Pirate Bay is the largest online piracy site in the world.
Today, online piracy is a widespread issue. People do so for a variety of reasons, the biggest of which
is money. Stuff is expensive. Why spend $15 on DVD, when one could pirate hundreds for free? The
ability to acquire things freely is fundamentally an un solvable issue. The next, and the easiest to fix,
reason why people pirate online is because of unavailability of certain

Mr.Yarbrough
Technology is everywhere. It has become an important part of our everyday life. It can be used as a
learning tool and also provides many forms of entertainment. It can be fun, but it can also be habit
forming. In today s society, children are using technology more frequently than ever before. Does the
increase in technology have a negative impact on children s behavior?
Technology is used in every part of daily life. In recent decades, electronic devices have become a
common part of the American home. It is common to see children using technology by playing on cell
phones and tablets. Parents may be surprised at how quickly children learn to use technology. A study
done in 2013 by Common Sense Media, showed that seventy two percent of children under the age of
eight have used a mobile device, and 38% of children under two have used one. Another study
completed by Kaiser Foundation in 2010 and published in The Huffington Post, showed that
elementary aged children use on average 7.5 hours per day of entertainment technology, 75 percent of
these children have TV s in their bedrooms, and 50 percent of North American homes have the TV on
all day. Technology is changing how children act and also changing the relationships between parents
and their children. With all

Examples Of Suffering By Desperatio Victor Frankl
Anne and the others are able to find hope and enjoyment amidst their suffering by celebrating
Hanukkah and exchanging gifts, even in their miserable and dreary conditions. Even though they are
indefinitely confined to a small attic, Anne finds ways to brighten the lives of everyone around her by
decorating the stark living space and lightening the somber mood in the attic with her cheer and
exuberance. An example of this is shown when Anne distributes her thoughtful gifts to everyone,
lighting up their Hanukkah. In the scene, everyone (except Mr. Dussel) reminisces on how they used
to celebrate Hanukkah by exchanging gifts. Suddenly, Anne comes wearing a lampshade and bestows
everyone with a gift she made specially for them. Afterwards, Anne sings the Hanukkah song, and the
other praise Anne s kindness, which gives the group something to be thankful about and gives them a

Usfk General Order To The Rangers Case Analysis
(4) It is clear the information regarding the application of the USFK General Order to the Rangers was

Blood In Crime Scene Investigation
Blood
When it comes to crime scene investigation, the most visually spectacular aspect is likely blood
spatter. From Dexter to CSI, the the method by which blood leaves the body and interacts with the
environment has caught the imagination of writers, viewers, and scientists alike. The information we
can glean from blood includes position of victim or perpetrator within a scene to information about the
blood donor him or herself. There are many different methods investigators use to analyze this
evidence, but the all have one thing in common: the all involve blood.
What is Blood?
Blood is the major fluid that moves throughout the body, carrying nourishment to tissues and cells,

Write An Essay On The Battle Of Verdun
The Battle of Verdun Introduction The Battle of Verdun was between the German and French armies
which took place around the city of Verdun sur Meuse in North East France from February 21 to
December 18, 1916. This battle was the largest, longest and amongst the most important battles in
First World War on the Western Front. The war resulted to deaths of about quarter of a million people
and left another half a million injured. The Battle of Verdun popularized by the phrase ill ne passeront
pas meaning they shall not pass brought much destruction and caused people to think of it as the war
to end all wars. History of Verdun and Background of the Battle In 1648, the Peace of Munster treaty
awarded Verdun to France. Due to the city s strategic location on Meuse River, it played a crucial role
in the defense of its surroundings. In the 1870s, Séré de Rivière devised a programme to build two
lines of fortresses from Belfort to Epinal and from Verdun to Toul which were defensive screens and

Cultural Differences Between Native Americans And English...
The Englishmen were not the first settlers of the New World. Many years before both the Spanish and

English settlers arrived they did not care about the Native Americans and had little desire to accept
their culture. The leaders of the colonies new they would need the help of the Natives to survive.
During the early years the settlers and Indians got along. The Native Americans would provide food,

The Fall of the Qing Dynasty
D Addese 1
The Qing Dynasty prospered well into the 20th century despite the numerous problems the
administration faced. However, during the early days of the 20th century, civil disorders continued to
grow in such unmanageable factions that the administration was pushed to do something about it. The
high living standards of the previous century had contributed to a sharp increase in China s population,
there was approximately 400 million people living in China around the nineteenth century. This spike
increased population density, it also created a surplus of labour shortages, land shortages, inadequate
food production and several famines. As an attempt for a solution, Empress Dowager Cixi proclaimed

There were mainly six reasons for the failed attempts of reformation in the late Qing dynasty. These
six reasons include: Empress Dowager Cixi s role, the opposition from conservatives, lack of careful
planning, lack of capital, corruption and the rising popularity of revolutionary movement. Empress
Dowager Cixi was born in 1835 to a family of Manchu government officials. It is believed that she
was born somewhere in Beijing and had entered the Forbidden City as a concubine to the emperor
Xianfeng. She had moved up the social ladder after giving birth to a male in 1856. During this time
period Xianfeng was facing unmanageable problems, these included, the Taiping rebellion, intrusive
foreign powers and the depletion of the royal treasury. After the death of emperor Xianfeng in 1861,
Cixi was able to manipulate officials and succeeded in placing her son as the next Emperor. The first
gesture in the direction of constitutional reform was made by empress Cixi in 1905, she ordered the
formation of a small study group of five princes and officials three Mancus and two Chinese who
would travel to Japan, the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and Italy to study their
governments (Spence, 235). Empress Dowager Cixi however, was the biggest obstacle in carrying out

Dworkinian s try to limit the indeterminacy by accounting for principles and would say that the rule
that stands is the rule that fits the settled law of the soundest theory. Realists counterargue that while
there may be legal determinacy when applying rule to small aspects of the law, the law in general
needs to be cohesive in order to create what Dworkin calls, the Soundest Theory of Law. In this case,
it is not clear as to what the soundest theory is, should the government decide because they make the
broadest rule of the land, or do we let the prison itself decide since they routinely deal with strip
search regulations and policies and would have a deeper understanding of what the law should be.
Altman would say that Justice Kennedy is correct in making his decision because there can be no
soundest theory of law due to the competing rules. Another argument posed by the CLSers is the idea
that there is no discoverable metaprinciple for determining the soundest theory of law. Dworkin s
argument is that principles are weighted and the principle with the greatest weight should be binding
when there is not rule in place, but doesn t supply a mechanism for how they are weighted. In the case
of Florence, who s to say that the principle of human dignity is more important than the principle of

Manual muscle testing will be tested to assess the strength in muscles used for running such as the
prime/strong muscles which are the hamstrings, gastrocnemius, soleus, quadriceps, and tibialis
anterior. This will also determine the weakness in muscles such as the plantarflexors, dorsiflexors,
knee flexion, and knee extension. Also, range of motion will be tested on the tight muscles such as the
hamstrings, gastrocnemius, quadriceps, and tibialis anterior. When the muscles are tight, the runner
will increase the risk of injury (Schipper, 2009). Gait analysis will be used to examine deficits to body
function, stability, and describe how the patient will be running. This will help determine the patient s
biomechanics and achieve adequate mobility. Lastly, we will perform a pain assessment to see what
pain level the patient is at when running. This will help determine whether the patient is minimizing
stress on the body to achieve no pain at all while running. To monitor progress of these assessments,
we must know that if these muscles are weak or become fatigued easily, there is less control of the leg
and the risk of injury increases (Schipper, 2009, paragraph

glittering generalities, plain folks appeal, argumentum ad populum, argumentum ad hominem, transfer

a positive connotation is used to make us agree without questioning the evidence. Typically, glittering
generalities have virtue words, that we have a deep connection to, but the words have no meaning

In our society today, we have all these rights, but imagine if we did not. 1984, written by George
Orwell, and V for Vendetta, directed by James McTeigue, both paint accurately scary descriptions
about the government in the future and the dystopian society. 1984, written in 1949, was intended to
be a portrayal of the future and V for Vendetta, made in 2005, shows Britain in power in 2038. Both of
these pieces of literature were not far off from their description. As every single year passes by, our
own society starts to reflect images from these books. When the government has this much power over
the people, the people rebel, but can they be a success or not? 1984, written by George Orwell,
illustrates a perfect example of a dystopian government. The setting is in Oceania, Britain. The
government is full of spies and secret police that carefully watch the common people for any mistake
they might make that can harm the government in any way. As shown with Winston Smith, the
protagonist of the novel and many other citizens in Oceania, the government manipulates these
characters into their pawns. The government asserts their power over the people in many ways. They
have large telescreens in the people s houses. The telescreens show the government what people are
doing at all times. It can be dimmed down, but can never be turned off. Although Oceania is well off
in money, the government rations food. The government s philosophy is that

As chemist with forensic case work and field experience, I know low cost and low tech methods of

presumptive assays influence command decisions. In technology deficient areas, presumptive assays

Arianism In Jehovah s Witnesses
There are countless views of the person of Christ that reject, whether intentionally or not, the full deity
of the Son. One of these views is known as Arianism, which, according to Erickson, states that The
Father alone is uncreated and eternal. The Word is therefore a created being, although the first and
highest of the beings (2015, 243). This view, which is especially prevalent within the belief system of
Jehovah s Witnesses, essentially claims that although Jesus Christ shares traits with God the Father,
He is not one with the Father and therefore, not God Himself (Ibid.). To support this claim, Arians
derive the ideas that Jesus is inferior to the Father and from passages such as John 14:28, where Jesus

The official author of the book of Jeremiah is not exactly knows, but was most likely not written by

perspective and structure of the Book of Jeremiah, and that there are real prophecies of Jeremiah in the
book. The book of Jeremiah was actually put together in a later time, most likely in the late 6th
Century BC, at the end of the Babylonian Exile. This took place when the people of Judah finally got
permission to go home. Jeremiah s setting is in Ancient Judah, during the time that Jeremiah s

with a Package Design Brief document which will describe in some detail what the package is

competition, by what means, and in conjunction with what other activities. Draw up a design brief for

INTRODUCTION
Packaging engineers are tasked with collecting input from various functional areas in a business to
determine the best structural package for a project. Oftentimes, this project will start in the hands of
marketing or project managers, who determine the criteria the package must meet to fulfill the needs
of the project.
The packaging engineer can get this list of criteria in an organized format, usually in the form of a
package design brief, which is a document the project manager can use to get the right inputs to the
packaging engineer to start developing packaging concepts. Without this set of boundaries to design
against, it is difficult for the packaging engineer to begin any designs, because otherwise there are too
many possibilities that could be considered.

The Key Of The Equity Is Fairness And Ethics
The key of the equity is fairness and ethics, the theories and the rule that was advanced by the Court of
Chancery in English as describe from the courts of common law. Though, in Australian law, equity has
a different meaning. That interpret can be the key of the law before the judicature Acts of 1873 1875,
was arranged in England by the Court of Chancery, which be presented with followed a set of the rules
in the Australian courts (Dal Pont and Chalmers, 2004, p.3).
The rules of equity and common law with arrangement of Australia are coming from English law (Dal
Pont and Chalmers, 2004, p.7).Back to the beginning of eighteenth century English law enacted laws
to better resolve certain rules should apply to the region, which was recently received. Sometimes
these regions were occupied by force, and occasionally they were ceded to another British power, they

Adrian Beltre s Role In Sports
I m not perfect. Nobody s perfect. But I love baseball and I love to play hard. Adrian Beltre. In the
spring of 1998 at the age of 19 Adrian Beltre made his debut in Major League Baseball (MLB). When
he was growing up baseball wasn t even his main focus it was pushed onto the backburner, the sports
that were his main focus were tennis and basketball. That has not stopped him though because he is
the 31st MLB player to hit the 3,000 hit club and he is the first player from the Dominican Republic to
reach that milestone since the MLB was founded in 1869. Adrian Beltre is actively involved in things

A Visit To A Restaurant
While it may seem a little strange that I have never been to an authentic Mexican restaurant in my life,
there is a perfectly good reason why. Chipotle and On The Border, two restaurants on the list as
frequently visited for me just are simply just Americanized Mexican restaurants and definitely do not
qualify as places that stay true to the Mexican culture. Therefore, for this global experience, I decided
to make a visit to an authentic Mexican restaurant named Taqueria Marias and it honestly was worth
the wait. Deciding to share this experience, I took two of my friends along with me and we shared a
lunch at the small restaurant. Almost immediately after entering we noticed that the restaurant was
incredibly lively, the tables were full, everyone was talking and laughing loudly, and the waiters never
stopped smiling as they ran from table to table at breakneck speed. The energy was amazing, unlike
any other restaurant I have ever been to which is really saying something. Once we got seated, we
ordered a guacamole and chips along with a rice and beans for the table and I ordered a vegetarian El
Mixteco Burrito for myself. The food showed up in record time despite there being a ton of people and
it was nothing short of delicious. Additionally, it was quite interesting to see that the waiters were
having conversations with guests at almost every table and even the chef came out to greet everyone
and ask about the food. It was a very interactive opportunity.
As is well

  • 2. Sarbanes-Oxley Act Case Study The Sarbanes Oxley Act also helped managers see that their companies had many weaknesses, such as lack of enforcement of existing policies, unnecessary complexity, clogged communications, and a feeble compliance culture (2006), per the Harvard Business Review. Managers and executives could recognize their company s weaknesses because SOX requires publicly traded companies to be standardized. Section 302 explains the corporate responsibility behind the financial reports, such as how the CEO and CFO must be involved in the auditing process and how they must report any fraud that they see in the reports. This section forced managers to overlook their internal audits and therefore helped them to see what needed to be done to improve the financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Guantanamo Bay At The Southeastern Tip Of Cuba In the Caribbean at the southeastern tip of Cuba is Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. The United States began leasing this area in 1903 making it the oldest overseas U.S. Navy base. Guantanamo Bay allows the U.S. an area to establish a detention facility in a secure and isolated location eliminating any chance the detainees could escape and return back to their countries. In addition, Guantanamo Bay allowed the U.S. to avoid bringing those individuals suspected of terrorism from entering domestic soil. As of today, Guantanamo Bay only holds 80 detainees. Since the attack on the World Trade Center, the US has been holding detainees without trial and there have been reports of torture being used. This is not only unconstitutional but also immoral, Guantanamo Bay needs to be shut down. Throughout the last 15 years of operation, Guantanamo Bay has faced endless criticism from both international countries and the US. The biggest issue is the legal black hole that exists at Guantanamo Bay and the concern over interrogation techniques and torture. We are able to torture prisoners because of how George W Bush described the war. Bush thought it was a new kind of war and that this meant the Americans didn t need adhere the rules of the Geneva Convention, explains Professor Honigsberg from the University of San Francisco. • 6. Macbeth And Robin Talley s As I Descended By William... Throughout the history of literature, classic tales have been adapted and rewritten by various authors. While this practice is more conspicuously noted in popular culture, it has existed for centuries. For instance, while Gil Junger s 1999 romantic comedy 10 Things I Hate About You is obviously a retelling of William Shakespeare s Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare s own Romeo and Juliet is an adaptation of Ovid s Pyramus and Thisbe from Metamorphoses. As a result, retellings are only a natural occurrence in literature and can oftentimes convey the basic story in new and exciting ways. On the other hand, retellings can also miss the mark, failing to produce a story that can triumphantly stand on its own as a work of art. For example, Robin Talley s As I Descended is a modern retelling of William Shakespeare s Macbeth, being adapted to fall within the genre of young adult literature. When evaluating As I Descended as a retelling, the characters and basic plot of Macbeth can be identified, but an added underlying story that introduces unnecessary plot points both causes frustration and overcomplicates the novel. In Talley s As I Descended, any reader who possesses background knowledge of Macbeth can easily identify the play s principal characters and overall plot. Without a doubt, Lord and Lady Macbeth are personified by Maria, the story s main protagonist who carries out evil deeds for her own success, and Lily, the mastermind who manipulates Maria, respectively. ... • 7. The Abortion Controversy Essay The controversy within the biomedical ethics topic, abortion, has two main proponents. The first is the view against abortion, also known as pro life. The other view is rooted upon the belief of being pro choice, or basically for abortions. These two different views are like two mathematical principles, in that although these two views have many differences, they also have larger similarities in the background. For example, when pro choice activists support abortions due to unwanted pregnancies, the activists are not rallying behind the idea of sexual incompetency (pregnancies due to lack of birth control). Rather, they are supporting the idea that women have the right to choose what to do with their own bodies. In order to understand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many anti abortionists believe that the child can actually help the mother get through the turbulent times in her life, by providing each other with a loving environment. Finally, in the case of economics, the pro life activists believe that having an abortion due to financial reasons is ridiculous. Because, it doesn t mean that the child will have a life full of isolation and depression. The pro life activists argue that there are also numerous welfare programs for such families. However, the pro choice or the activists for abortions, argue that if a family is in a state of financial trouble, then abortion should be a practical option. Otherwise, the child would be born into a life of suffering, and inadequate living conditions. The pro choice believers, bases their beliefs, upon the fact that having an abortion is the inalienable right of women. They believe that by outlawing abortions, women aren t allowed to practice their freedom of privacy. In a way, women are being denied their constitutional rights. Many pro choice activists also state that abortion is justifiable, because at the time of fertilization the ensuing embryo is not yet a human being. It is not a human being, but a potential one. The longest amount of time I spend looking at myself is when I m shaving, and even then, I m just concentrating on not being a klutz and cutting myself open. I m not being down on myself or looking for attention or any such nonsense like that. I mean, I don t even have a Facebook. It s just that, gazing upon my reflection is just not something I do. I get out of the shower, I shave, brush my teeth, and I m gone, on to whatever the day has in store for me. Another thing I m not used to is the clarity of the face. I should back up a moment, so you understand. I have, for the better part of a month, been having a recurring dream that unsettles me. In it, I am staring at myself in a mirror and it is devoid of the dream quality one expects from the images in their brain. In dreams, whenever I see someone who is supposed to be me or someone I have known for years, the face is different, sometimes subtly, other times it is completely different. But in this mirror, in this reflection that comes through in my reverie, it is my face, perfectly so, no blur or changes or oddly shaped parts. The eyes are the same dull blue that they ve always been, my nose, slightly long but not weirdly so, although there is a curve at the bridge where I broke it falling from my bike when I was twelve. • 9. Arranged Marriage Vs Love Marriage The debate amongst love marriage and arranged marriage will never stop. That is not the goal. Everyone goes about marriage a different way. Having the choice between an arranged marriage and a love marriage is helpful for many people. There are many more advantages to an arranged marriage than a love marriage. In the past, arranged marriages were the most popular, but modern times have shifted the view to more love marriages despite the disadvantages accompanying it. Family is so important. An arranged marriage is accepted by the bride and groom as they believe their elders are able to make the best decision when it comes to who the marry. An arranged marriage focuses on family union. This establishes trust amongst family members and automatically the new addition to the family has immense approval, something a love marriage may not have. For example, say a woman goes out and marries a man. She shows him to the family and they disapprove of him. They say he is not right for her. This upsets the daughter and the husband, and creates a family divide. This creates a situation where the woman must choose between two things she loves. This could all be avoided by arranged marriage. Arranged marriages presuppose that two people are perfectly matched because they belong to the same culture, share the same religious upbringing, speak the same language, and raised in more or less the same socio economic class. These identical backgrounds make it easier for the couple to communicate with each other and understand where each is coming from. Decisions in the upbringing of future children and their education leave little room for disparities in their thinking because of this likeness. The preapproval of the spouse solves a plethora of unnecessary issues. Divorce is so common in America. It has gotten to a point that staying together for life and honoring your vows is rare. This causes severe emotional trauma and is such a hassle. The actual statistics for divorce in a love marriage in America is 45%. This is saying almost half of love marriages fail. When you look over to the statistics of arranged marriage in India there is an enormous difference. The percentage of arranged ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dworkinian s try to limit the indeterminacy by accounting for principles and would say that the rule that stands is the rule that fits the settled law of the soundest theory. Realists counterargue that while there may be legal determinacy when applying rule to small aspects of the law, the law in general needs to be cohesive in order to create what Dworkin calls, the Soundest Theory of Law. In this case, it is not clear as to what the soundest theory is, should the government decide because they make the broadest rule of the land, or do we let the prison itself decide since they routinely deal with strip search regulations and policies and would have a deeper understanding of what the law should be. Altman would say that Justice Kennedy is correct in making his decision because there can be no soundest theory of law due to the competing rules. Another argument posed by the CLSers is the idea that there is no discoverable metaprinciple for determining the soundest theory of law. Dworkin s argument is that principles are weighted and the principle with the greatest weight should be binding when there is not rule in place, but doesn t supply a mechanism for how they are weighted. This will also determine the weakness in muscles such as the plantarflexors, dorsiflexors, knee flexion, and knee extension. Also, range of motion will be tested on the tight muscles such as the hamstrings, gastrocnemius, quadriceps, and tibialis anterior. When the muscles are tight, the runner will increase the risk of injury (Schipper, 2009). Gait analysis will be used to examine deficits to body function, stability, and describe how the patient will be running. This will help determine the patient s biomechanics and achieve adequate mobility. Lastly, we will perform a pain assessment to see what pain level the patient is at when running. This will help determine whether the patient is minimizing stress on the body to achieve no pain at all while running.
