A 64-year-old man presented with worsening dyspnea and inability to walk across a room without stopping to catch his breath over the past 3 days. On examination, he had increased work of breathing, rales in his lungs, and signs of pulmonary edema on chest x-ray. He has a history of heart failure and likely poorly controlled hypertension. He was given oxygen therapy, nitroglycerin, diuretics, and his pulmonary edema resolved over several days with treatment.
