Construction of three check dams was completed at a farm in Gandwa village, Alwar from November 18-21, 2012. The check dams were made from stone and supported by bamboo poles. They ranged in size from 2.25 meters long and 0.9 meters high for the first dam, to 3.5 meters long and 1.4 meters high for the third dam. Additional work included creating stone beds and planting soil-binding grasses.

2. Preparation of check dams
• Check dam is formed with the help of stones
& bamboo as supports.
• First base of land make leveled from
undulated surface.

3. • Used bamboo poles as a supports to stones.
• Base of Bamboos covered in polythene to
protect from termite.
• About 35-40 cm portion of bamboo planted in
the soil.

4. • Big sized stones put at base after making
furrow about 12-15 cm deep.

5. Putting horizontal bamboo to check disturbance in
stone arrangement during high intensive rainfall.

7. 2nd Check dam
• Made with help of stone dust filled in sacks
and bamboo as support.

8. • Stones put under sacks to protect from
termite.

• Just near the starting point of erosion.
• To check flow of water.
