The Rotary Club of Kalyan constructed their first check dam project under a district grant to increase water storage capacity and benefit the local community. Over 15 meters long, the check dam creates a 400 meter long, 12-15 meter wide reservoir that stores over 50 lakh litres of water, directly benefiting 15 acres of land and raising the groundwater table across 2 square kilometers. Members of the Rotary Club look forward to performing a Jal-Pujan ceremony once the check dam overflows with rain water.
