4. The And Female Characters Of Candide
The IA Essay
How do the experiences of the women in Candide differ from those of the men? How do their
reactions to those experiences differ from those of the men?
Most of Voltaire s characters were able to explain why they could consider themselves as the most
unhappy by providing a story of what had occurred to them. Their experiences vary from natural to
man made misfortunes. However, even though, the characters reactions to their misfortunes are of a
similar, the experiences between the male and female characters of Candide are quite different in
regards to what is taken away from them.
Throughout the novel we follow, the main character, Candide, through his journey of reuniting with
his beloved Cunegonde. The journey was very dangerous because throughout the novel, Candide was
flogged, forced into an army, shipwrecked, betrayed, robbed, and separated from his love Cunegonde,
and tortured by the Inquisition. Most of Candide s misfortunes was mostly of robbery and abuse.
Throughout the journey, Candide was able to acquire love and wealth. Though, both things were taken
away from him. Cunegonde and Candide were separated frequently ever since that kiss they shared.
As for the wealth, Candide kept flaunting it around and spent a lot of it unwisely. Therefore, the
villainous characters in the novel were able to notice that Candide was a fool and noticed that robbing
some of his wealth would be an easy task for them. Though, it was at this moment that Candide was
fed up

After the stock market crash, known as Black Tuesday, in 1929, people panicked. As too much money
was withdrawn from banks and they closed, people lost all their money. America, which was just in
the Roaring Twenties , fell into the Great Depression. Suddenly, people were laid off their jobs, couldn
t buy things they had once not thought twice about, and struggled to afford food for their families.
People lost their homes, and teenagers lived on the streets. Farmers were in debt, losing their farms,
and had to deal with the Dust Bowl. The president at the time, Herbert Hoover, decided that the
country would pull out of the Depression on their own. Since the citizens of America didn t like that,

The Great War On 28 June 1914, a Serbian shot an Austrian. Within six weeks, many of the countries
of Europe had become involved in a war that was to cause the deaths of 10 million soldiers, but was
the assassination the only cause of war? WWI wasn t just any war, it was also a new beginning and a
new cause for a few of the european countries that had been involved. The end results for Germany
had been the worst, which not only caused Germany to have a new purpose and have resentments, but
also to make something new from that beaten Germany. WWI was caused by many factors but the
ones that always come first to our attention could be one such as Militarism, which was an arms race
that was capable of making countries into great allies or an enemy to fear. Not only do some people
feel pride in being what they but also they can take their nationalism to a whole new level. Take hitler
as an example. Believing that his race was far better than any of the others out there, but it doesn t end
there. Allies was a big part of it also. If one country went to war with another then the allies would be
called upon and join in as well, which led to the opposing countries allies stepping in followed by any
of their allies, allies. But change played a great role also. Not everyone wanted change which could
mean a loss to any power a country held. Imperialism wasn t accepted by all and there were those

The Roman Spectacle Today one can be a spectator in every sport via sports networks, and billion

the Roman Empire one sport reigned supreme the sport of Chariot racing.
Few forms of entertainment enjoyed as great of a level of devotion and longevity than that of Chariot
racing. The sport of chariot racing was an integral part of Roman society and wherever the Romans
went, chariot racing when with them, as evidenced by the tracks in North Africa, England, and
elsewhere in the Empire. This seems like an unlikely connection to the casual observer, but for one
who looks deeper into the Roman society and government they will see that sports were at the heart of
the Roman Empire. This sport was unique in Roman society, because it brought together people from
different backgrounds, cultures and ranking in Roman society. This widespread popularity gave this

particular kind of political power to the fans and was great enough to affect cultural and political life

been unable to meet its budgeted revenue targets. Stocks of unsold harvestable fish have increased, as

Guy Mills provided the board with a summary of selected site and segment data (see Appendix 1), and
reported that the decreased profits in 2009 were caused by the Site 3 problems, the decrease in market
value, the strengthening Canadian dollar versus the U.S. dollar, and the increased feed costs. He also
indicated that he expected the four sites to yield an average of 3.8 million kilograms (950,000
kilograms per site) of harvested fish per year, assuming that no further unusual losses were incurred.
Given the current market conditions and the risk of having to decrease prices or lose export sales to
the U.S., the board decided that the company should move into other markets and diversify into
shellfish farming. No dividends would be paid for the next year or two to free up some cash to invest
in new projects. The board directed Mills to investigate establishing shellfish aquaculture sites and
develop a business strategy for increasing the profitability of the current salmon operations. They
indicated that any proposed investment should generate a minimum after tax return of 10% within five
years. Shellfish Aquaculture Opportunity Mills explored opportunities for diversifying into shellfish
aquaculture. He found two potential opportunities (a mussel farm and an oyster farm) and wondered
which one should be pursued or whether both should be pursued. A summary of the costs and yields

Finally, the third reason is a breach of warranty claim. The law implies a warranty by a manufacturer
which places its product on the market that the product is reasonably fit for the ordinary purpose for
which it was intended. If it is, in fact, defective and not reasonably fit to be used for its intended
purpose, the warranty is breached. Ultimately, Nancy Denny won because the court found that
defendant had, breached its implied warranty of merchantability and that the breach was the proximate
cause of Nancy Denny s injuries . Ford may have avoided these liabilities had they marketed the
vehicles manual towards off road only, or had they proved product safety was reasonable to drive in
ordinary circumstances. Judge Simons dissented on the case stating he felt consumer expectation had
no place in personal injury litigation. His reasoning seemed to place absolute burden on a
manufacturer in all cases. His reasoning s stated ordinary uses and intended and reasonably
foreseeable implied warranties. If this were the case it would be hard to determine the definition of
defective and reasonable to provide a decision in other cases. Any other decisions that would arise in
similar cases would ultimately place the burden on the manufacturer to prove there was no
defectiveness and the product could be used in any sort of circumstances. The

In The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer provides a look into the facets of the Catholic Church
during the Medieval times. By using a variety of characters, he shows that the church was deceptive
and fake. Chaucer s commentary ranges from situational irony and sarcasm. Using these literary
devices we can show how corrupt the church really is.
In The Prologue, chaucer shows that the church was deceptive using the characters, the nun and the
pardoner. The pardoner was deceptive because he would sell fake relics to the parsons to make more
money, an example of this is this quote from the prologue For in his bag he had a pillowcase Of which
he said, it was Our True Ladys veil:...In that one day gathered more money Than the parson in two
months, that easy.(695 706) Another character that comes off as deceptive is the Nun, Chaucer writes
about her in a way that makes it sound like he likes the Nun and thinks she is all pure but in reality he
is using sarcasm to mock her. An example of this sarcasm is She was very pleasant, ... Show more

it was greed or deception that got in the way, it affected their effectiveness in society in some sort of

These pieces were then nail together and a template was used to create the curved lines for the timber
tray and it showed how the pacific maple would end up like. The two piece of woods were then
trimmed with a jigsaw and further trimmed with the band saw. The pacific maples were then sanded to
remove the marks created from the band saw. After that, two shorter pieces were chosen and the same
steps were applied. The two pieces were nailed and using a template the handles of the timber tray
were drawn. The drill press was then used to drill holes into the two pieces and then the handles were
made from using a jigsaw. The jigsaw sawed off the wood in marked area from the template. The pair
of handles were sanded to take of any sharp edges and to make the handle smooth. Both pairs of wood
were taken apart so there would be four pieces of wood, two long and two short. Then the finger joint
were made using the finger jointing machine (trimmer router) were when cutting the joint for the
shorter pieces, the end of the longer piece was put up against the shorter piece and then that was
drilled to create the finger joints. Once this process was done, the four pieces were joined up to create
the timber frame. This frame was then glued together using PVA glue. A plywood base was then
picked and the frame was marked on the plywood using a pencil. The base and the frame were put
together with a thin layer of PVA glue and then reinforced with twelve millimeter nails. The base had
four nails along the length and three nails on the width. Nails weren t nailed in the corners because it
could nail into the joint, which would separate the joint and create a gap in the joint. Once the glue
had dried the timber tray was put on the linisher and the timber tray was sanded to remove bits created

Earthquakes are an unfortunate consequence of, well, living on earth. While other hazards such as
volcanos, tornados, floods, and wild fires all have clear visual indications that allow for us humans to
get away from them, earthquakes are much more insidious than the aforementioned disasters because
they have no such indicator and the damage they inflict is near instantaneous. Luckily for us humans,
seismologists have spent a good portion of the 20th century finding out why earthquakes occur, how
to predict earthquakes that have not happened yet, and how to minimize damages caused by
earthquakes with the help of extremely talented structural and seismic engineers. Our group will be

impact on nearby communities, the damages and loss of life caused by these earthquakes, and how the
communities that live near hotspots have adapted to the omnipresence of seismic activity.
The first earthquake we will be talking about is the largest earthquake to occur within a U.S territory
and the second largest recorded earthquake on earth, the Alaskan Good Friday Earthquake. The
earthquake, lasting approximately 5 minutes, occurred Friday, March 27th at 1736 local time and was

Abstract
Low back pain (LBP) is an issue that affects patients, healthcare professionals, and society on a global
scale. With advancements in allopathic medicine, LBP is better managed than ever before however, its
methodologies in diagnosing and treating LBP and its results are inconsistent. For this reason, many
patients and healthcare professionals are turning to alternative treatments such as traditional Chinese
medicine, which is now considered one of the leading treatments of LBP.
This study explores LBP treatment methodologies used in allopathic medicine and traditional Chinese
medicine (TCM). The research of Dr. Frank (1995) are examined further in order to gain more
understanding of the TCM methodology and its relationship with LBP. Additionally, this study aims to
convey what the holistic, low cost approach of TCM has to offer and to better understand the use and
effectiveness of acupuncture and herbology in the treatment and prevention of LBP.

Businessman Donald J. Trump began his 2016 presidential campaign by saying,
When Mexico sends its people, they re not sending their best. They re not sending you. They re not
sending you. They re sending people that have lots of problems, and they re bringing those problems
with us. They re bringing drugs. They re bringing crime. They re rapists. And some, I assume, are

Mr. Trump s comments reignited a nationwide debate over illegal immigration from Mexico to the
United States. The issue quickly became one of the most controversial matters facing the candidates
on their 2016 quest for the White House. Republican and Democratic contenders alike have struggled
to devise practical solutions for this complex issue. Some are advocating for providing a path to
citizenship to illegal aliens; others are calling for widespread deportations of all undocumented
immigrants; and some are even pushing for the construction of a wall along the southern border of the
nation. Instead, the land of opportunity should open its doors and welcome all those wishing to
emigrate from Mexico with open arms. In addition, Legislators should work together to enact
bipartisan, common sense immigration reform that includes offering most of the migrants already in
the country all of the rights associated with full citizenship in the United States.

The next set of characters worth dissecting are Polonius, Laetres, and Ophelia each of whom has their
own distinct attributes. Polonius who is the father of Laetres and Ophelia is also a councilor to King
Claudius. Polonius is the first to be killed and dies unexpectedly while listening to Hamlet and Queen
Gertrude from behind a tapestry. Hamlet suspects Polonius to be King Claudius and stabs him through
the tapestry. Though Polonius was killed by mistake there is reasonable evidence that he in fact
wanted Hamlet gone. First, Polonius was not comfortable with the relationship Hamlet had with his
daughter, and for her health advised that she did not see him anymore. Ophelia tells Polonius how

There are many outstanding colleges to attend for graphic design, however, the MaryLand Institute
College of Art stood out due to its major in teaching creative, technological, and intellectual skills to
pursue design. To begin, the Maryland Institute College of Art was founded in 1826, making it one of
the oldest art colleges in the United States. Along with being one of the most experienced and oldest
among art colleges, it is about 3 hours away from New York City and only 45 minutes from
Washington D.C (https://www.mica.edu/) . The importance to this is the ability to go to main cities
and study the architecture and construction involved in your curriculum. MICA costs around $53,600
dollars a year for a standard education including housing, books, and chosen classes. Another
interesting fact about MICA is that during the Civil War, the building was used briefly as a hospital for

There are many factors that play into my decision, but one is the price. The price of the school for a
single year is $53,600. If it is around $53,600 per year, four years attending the college adds up to
about $214,400. Another key factor is being so far away from my family. It would take approximately
10 hours by car to visit family from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Also, MICA does not have
a football team. I would enjoy going to a college where school spirit is present in day to day campus
life. After playing volleyball for four years, having a college volleyball team is a necessity. Even
though the campus is very beautiful, the art community seems very small. I would prefer a large,

There are many stereotypes in our world, and we often can find them in the form of what is called

Though some people find them hysterical, blonde jokes are actually very damaging to the well being
of blonds all over the world. These jokes often portray blondes as being dim witted, and they display
them as being sexually promiscuous. People often view blonde jokes as being very sexist because
although there are sometimes variations of blonde males, the majority of the blondes portrayed in the
jokes are females. One of the jokes you often hear is How do you get a blonde to climb on the roof? ,

However could stereotyping have both short term and lasting effects of those who are stereotyped?
According to Michael Inzlicht, Even after a person leaves a situation where they faced negative
stereotypes, the effects with coping with that situation remain. It has been scientifically proven
through tests that one of the lasting effects of stereotyping is that the level of aggression in a person
rises and they tend to have a shorter temper. It is widely believed that frequent use of a certain
stereotype can and probably will result in the stereotype becoming true about a certain type of person
or race. This is probably because of the fact that a person wants to conform to how society perceives
them or how society want them to be. Therefore, stereotypes lower one s self confidence they need to
have in order to get through the day, which in turn could result in effects even more serious or
hazardous. Stereotyping and labeling further lead us to performing discriminatory actions. We have
become so accustomed to labeling and putting people into groups that we do it all the time without
having to think about it. We also tend to treat people with less respect if they are, for example. less
pretty, short or even overweight. It is a part the social injustice that people are treated with less

Over seventy years ago, Joseph Stalin, leader of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, made a
remark about the democratic voting system in the United States. He stated, ...it is completely
unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this who will
count the votes, and how. Joseph Stalin, who once was a totalitarian dictator, was able to see the
loopholes in our democratic election process that the American people never addressed, or they simply
ignored. An American s vote no longer matters in the way that it used to; In fact, this is no longer an
area of black and white, instead it has changed to an obscure gray field that shadows over all
Americans. The prestigious land of the United States, where democracy has been held up for over two
centuries, is no longer upholding the belief of one man one vote. Instead, it has allowed the 528 votes
of the Electoral College to run rampant and impede on the founding beliefs that all Americans hold

As the distinguished economist, John Maynard Keynes notes: Capitalism is the extraordinary belief
that the nastiest of men, for the nastiest of motives, will somehow work for the benefit of all. At the
core of the Robert Taylor homes is a functioning capitalist society. As in all capitalist societies, it is the
role of the government to defend the economic interests of the faction that controls the means of
production by suppressing anyone seen as a threat to its dominance. In the Robert Taylor homes, the
Black Kings were the state that defended the means of production by suppressing any threat to their
business through notion of hustling. Even though as a functioning capitalist society, the Robert Taylor
homes were community plagued by severe destitution. The community suffered from many illegal
activities in addition to the high rates of unemployment and welfare. Furthermore, the housing project
was completely ignored by the municipal government. In this lawless environment, there was no
independent police, and for many there was no steady income. The combination of these two elements
increased the power gang, thus they were the enforcers. The people of the community had to compete
amongst each other for resources. Those of the Robert Taylor community had to make the best use of
what they had, and this is known as survival. What many come to understand, as hustling and other
unethical activities, are known as survival to members of the Black Kings gang and the tenants

32. The Oil Industry
In the oil industry, well testing is a very useful tool to be able to model and interpret what processes
are going on underground in a reservoir system and what effect it would have if drilled into. From
well testing, it is quite common to observe a pressure transient derivative signature showing an
upward continuous trend. These types of curves are presented by a pressure derivative versus time log
log scale plot in different software s with KAPPA being an example. This trend can be interpreted as
showing the presence of nearby no flow boundaries. However, comparing this data with such seismic
and geological evidence it is often concluded that these such boundaries appear too close to the well.

The objectives of this study are to: 1. Simulate reservoir production of 100% water with no oil or gas
production. 2. Observe reservoir production when water and oil is being produced at a constant rate. 3.
Observe reservoir behaviour when heterogeneity is introduced and multiple reservoir parameters are
altered to observe different well test pressure derivative response curves in KAPPA. The initial model
was based on the fact the reservoir was a homogeneous, corner point, Cartesian model which had no
oil and gas production initially but produced water at a constant rate of 10000 m3/day for a period of
31 days. This model then was then compared analytically with KAPPA to see if the data matched the
data that was inputted. The next step was to add oil into the system to be able to give a more relevant
model to real life scenarios otherwise the data used beforehand was meaningless and couldn t be
representative of a real life scenario. To accomplish this and to simulate with the initial conditions, the
rate was reduced due to the introduction of a bubble point pressure of 150 bar and an oil production
rate along with a water production rate. Finally, the last objective of this simulation was to change the
properties of the reservoir to make it become heterogeneous and then comparing the derivative
response curve with those of the parameters such as: change

clearly. Some say that laser eye surgery is a sure fire way of fixing your vision, others say that it is
complete rubbish. The article will explain why laser eye surgery is not an effective way to fix your

What is Myopia?
Myopia is a defect within the eye that causes near sightedness or short sightedness. The public is
always debating whether the term is near sightedness or short sightedness, depending where you are,
people are always saying the term differently, just like the word tomato , it just depends where you are

someone having Myopia, when looking at an object the image focuses in front of the retina. For a

36. Winnie The Pooh By Winnie Pooh
Winnie the Pooh is a tale that spans across generations of childhoods and adulthoods. The gentle
appeal of a soft, simple bear and his group of eclectic friends has captured the hearts of millions.
However, in the search to make Pooh more marketable, drastic changes have been made to the original
text in order to appeal to a wider audience. In my research, I will explore how the commercialization
of Winnie the Pooh affected the original text, both in its meaning and sentimental value. Winnie the
Pooh has not always been the stylized, bright yellow bear that we now see plastered on countless spin
off books, movies, mugs, and shower curtains. On the contrary, the history behind the first publication
of Winnie the Pooh is one of sweet and simple origins. A. A. Milne, the author, wouldn t have even
considered writing a children s book if it weren t for his son, Christopher. Before Christopher s birth in
1920, Milne was a somewhat successful playwright, mystery author, and humorist for Punch
magazine. However, he was inspired to write a book that his son would cherish by basing it on
Christopher s favorite stuffed bear, Winnie. When Milne proposed the idea of writing children s
poetry, his British publisher was disappointed; he was expecting an adult mystery novel that he knew
could sell. After being rejected, Milne went to Punch magazine, where he was allowed to test out his
idea. In 1924, a Pooh like bear first appeared in the poem Teddy Bear, which centered on a bear who

Introduction In today s modern society shaped by economic and social challenges, business strategy
has never been more important. A rethink of theoretical management practices is fundamental to
establishing innovative strategic design to cope with these challenges. (Hahn et al, 2010). This is not a
new idea, in fact, in 2009, Guerrera challenged Michael Porter s underlying premise that businesses
are there to make money while Figge and Hahn (2008) go as far as to accuse such strategies of
aggravating the current economic situation. Henry Mintzberg s ... Show more content on

They conclude that meaning, compromising perspective, knowledge, and learning, underlies action.
[p88] It is evident that this debate will continue to grow in interest and relevance in a modern, global
society and it is important to look at the underlying premise behind Mintzberg s conviction.
Underlying premise Mintzberg s underlying assumption is that businesses must learn which
opportunities are available in the current and future environments and to do this, strategy must be
developed by managers at the operational level: built from occasional nuggets they uncover [p111]
and not by senior managers and analysts in an ivory tower looking backwards at past data. Birger
Wernerfelt, (1984) illustrates an organisation driven, resource based view of strategy in which firms
can influence the environment in which they operate. Wernerfelt argues that firms must first
understand their organisation and develop ways to shape their business surroundings accordingly. On
the other side of this learning debate, Porter (1985) presents a positioning approach where the role of
the strategist is to identify the external forces of the environment (Competitive forces Model: Porter,
1979) and find a unique and valuable position in which the firm can flourish. As is typical in
organisational strategy, nothing is clear cut and indeed Mintzberg s article draws parallels with both
Wernerfelt and Porter. In this article, he argues that organisations must learn which opportunities are

In 1966 a series called quot;Star Trek quot; was created. It s creator, Gene Roddenberry, did not create

Through each series, The Original, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager, there has been

There was the captain, Janeway, Kes and Seven of Nine. This series brought women into leadership
roles. The progression of women in Star Trek has been appropriately timed and has even pushed a
little bit past the time. Even though Uhura basically played the role of a secretary her role still pushed
the envelope for the time because of her race. She was a black actress during or right after the civil
rights movement. She even thought of quitting the role because she felt that she wasn t used enough
for her role in the series. However, after Martin Luther King, Jr. talked to her and told her how
important it would be for her to stay on the show, she did. Women in Star Trek have progressed from a
secretary type, to a doctor and counselor, to the second in command and eventually the first in
command or the captain. Their progress allows them to be more influential.

atomic fission, between 1895 and 1945. In WWII, the men of science applied this new knowledge to
create the atomic bomb. Only few years after the war in 1956, this cognition was applied to make new
power plants, fueled by the new energy source uranium. (pg1 World Nuclear Association)
Today, as much as we know about nuclear power is one of the most powerful and fresh energy,
compared to any carbon dioxide producing fuels like coal or oil. It is a very cost effective cheap
source, but with a major downside. Obtaining it is a rather complex chemical procedure, and the
outcome is not only precious power, but also hazardous waste. This ... Show more content on

The St. Louis Post Dispatch created a special report on Sunday February 12, 1989 about the Legacy of
the Bomb and the Patriotic Work has been done here in the city, and the unfortunate consequences of
uranium purification. People were not aware that this technological miracle as the article called it,
came with a deadly side effect which is still affecting our life today. Based on the report, more than
2.3 million cubic yards of contaminated material remain scattered across the area in St. Louis, north
St. Louis County, and St. Charles County. Comparably, the quantities of the radioactive byproduct
would fill up the early Bush Stadium. (pg 3 St. Louis Post Dispatch) In 1947 the Government secretly
ordered the Mallinckrodt Chemical Co to dump the hazardous waste at a significant size land of the
airport area. (Health Impact News) Since this was covered operation the locals were not aware what
lies underneath their feet. Based on the article written in the St Louis Post Dispatch in February 1989
about the Legacy of the Bomb and the St Louis Nuclear Waste people were not aware of the dangers
that is coming from the ground. For example: in Hazelwood a business man could buy warehouses
that they are too radioactive to use. (pg 8 St. Louis Post Dispatch Everyday) Although, there was a
Government procedure and attempt to get rid of the waste properly in the late 1990 s and clean up the

45. Relationship Between Henson And Peary
Matthew Henson and Robert Peary had a strong relationship. They both had a need for exploration,
fame, and danger, and Henson s need is one of the reasons he started traveling with Peary. The two
men met when Henson was working at a clothing and hat store, when Peary walked in and offered him
a job. This job was to be his personal servant while he was on an expedition in Nicaragua. Peary was
going to head an engineering team to see about the possibility of digging a canal across Nicaragua.
Henson later wrote that he saw qualities in Peary that made him want to participate in his services.
After that expedition, Peary approached Henson with an idea. He wanted to raise money to go to the
arctic and wanted Henson to go with him. On their

46. Bariaso Hussein Case Study
I m very happy to write this letter and share with you what a pleasure it s been to manage Bariso
Hussein these past six months. Bariso was initially working here at Stoel Rives mail room from 3pm
to 6pm each night after school. With the start of summer, he began working full days from 10am to
6pm, Monday through Friday. Bariso entered this full time schedule with much enthusiasm and he
even expressed interest in learning other duties and responsibilities so that he may better support the
team, and better support Stoel Rives. Bariso learned quickly, and demonstrated a great attention to
detail in his time with us. In addition, Bariso s support over the summer has been a major factor in
many of our team s successes. Bariso was trained in the stocking of work rooms ... Show more content

Bariso took the initiative to improve the process for the Work Room Supply Checklist which he would
use when stocking work rooms. He took a basic, confusing excel spreadsheet and enhanced it into a
clear and concise check list. We will continue to use this same, edited checklist file. This is only one
of many examples of Bariso going above and beyond. In another example, he ran to the post office to
make a 2pm cutoff to mail off paperwork related to an important case. Bariso demonstrated a can do
attitude and helped us bring resolution to many staff requests, urgent and otherwise. Overall, Bariso
has helped my team to raise the bar and improve our level of service. Our Office Services team strives
for service excellence, and I m very pleased to say that Bariso adopted our philosophy. I m also
confident that he ll continue to strive for excellence in all of his endeavors. Please don t hesitate to
reach out to me with any questions regarding Bariso, or the duties that he was responsible for while he
was here. I would be happy to answer any questions that you may

47. Aiding In Racial Profiling
Racial profiling occurs when a police officer selectively focuses on a person s race where the harass,
detain, or arrest the individual (Cooper,2001). Racial profiling is a serious issue that has gone rampant
in the united states today; people being scared to do everyday activities because of their race is
terrorizing and they culprits should be look at as terrorist. The government system is not set up to
benefit the minorities, the iron triangle is a connection of groups that are placed to try and benefit the
people, but sometimes they only benefit themselves and people alike. Aiding in racial profiling is an
institutionalized form of terrorism and needs to be stopped at the source, and these are the steps we
should take. In the case of the Milwaukee Bucks basketball player John Henson who was just trying to
buy some jewelry he experienced racism. Henson was going to a jeweler to buy some merchandise
and wasn t allowed into the store because he store workers felt intimidated. Henson was a 6 11
millionair basketball player that looked scary to the store workers, so for the workers to protect
themselves they locked the doors and ran to the back of their office where the employes proceed to
call the police. When the police arrive at the scene they have to suspect that Mr. Henson was
dangerous in some way due to the description given, the police officers were able to asses the situation
and confirm that Henson did not mean any harm. The profiling of Henson was

48. Totem Pole Research Paper
Totem poles can tell stories, represent ceremonies, and much more. The totem pole is very intricate
and a very special and honorary item. My totem pole is based on my family. The animals I have
chosen all have a special meaning to me. The reason I am doing a family totem pole is that family
always comes first to me and family is one of the greatest blessings you can have. I selected a bear at
the bottom of my totem pole. This bear represents my father s side of the family, hence the name,
Lonebear . Most bears are quite strong, so that is why it is at the bottom because it has the strength to
hold up the rest of the animals. A bear is a symbol of courage and being fearless. I may not be that
close to my dad s side of the family, but they are still important to me no matter what. ... Show more

It is referring to my brother, Adrian, and my grandfather, Glenn Littlebird Sr., because their Indian
name is, weasel like animal . This weasel holds up the waterbird, which is in reference to my mom s
last name, Littlebird . The weasel is very wise, stealthy, and truthful. They always know what s going
on. This animal always has the answers and solutions for your troubles. Nevertheless, the waterbird is
going on third in the view, of the fact that the weasel is holding it up. This is a remarkably sacred and
cultural animal. It is indicated to be the peyote bird . The waterbird represents the renewal of life and
brings visions and wisdom. This animal represents my mom s side, the Littlebirds . For the very top,
my choice was to put a wolf. I chose the wolf consequently of how I am reminded of how a family
sticks together no matter what. Wolves travel in a pack and they stay close to each other and help lift
each other up. The wolf represents that you should trust your heart and your mind. No matter if they
are far away from each other, they can communicate and they always have each other s

49. Ch-5 Stress Team Work
During my time working on the CH 47 structures stress team work usually came in waves. There were
only two of us working on the team, but since work had ebbed for the time being my lead felt
comfortable taking a medical leave. This effectively made me take the lead of our group while he was
away. I completed the usual lead rolls, gave updates to our manager and second level manager.
Working to keep tasks on track was both fun and challenging for me, and I liked the responsibility.
Due to the fast paced nature of our program stress often only had time to provide initial sizing and the
part would be released before we had the opportunity to complete a full stress analysis (this wasn t the
best way to design/size parts, but the method worked well most of the time). Since our slow time often
involved catching up on analysis, I was working on the formal documentation for a complex
installation when I realized the designer had made a mistake on the thickness of a critical part. To
make matters worse the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I organized a meeting across the functional groups required to redesign and sign off the part. Together
we set an aggressive schedule and found the necessary approvals to work overtime. In order to push
the installation out in as little time as possible I set a goal for the group to not make any part changes
requiring more than a numerical change to the stress analysis. This was a tough task for me because as
a young engineering I didn t have the knowledge to guide the designers at times. When needed, I
brought in a stress tech fellow from another group. I worked with each designer individually to make
sure the new design followed the sizing my analysis had set forth. Also, I organized a daily meeting to
gather all the designers together so we could make sure all the parts fit into the
