Individual incentive pay plans are most appropriate under three conditions; First, employee s
performance can be measured objectively, Second, individual incentive plans are appropriate when
employees have sufficient control over work outcomes, Third, individual incentive plans are
appropriate when they do not create a level of unhealthy competition among workers that ultimately
leads to poor quality. Individual Incentive plans reward employees for meeting such work related
performance standards as quality, productivity, customer satisfaction, safety or attendance. Any one of
these standards by itself or in combination may be used. A company ultimately should employ the
standards that represent work that an employee actually performs. When designed and implemented
well, individual incentive plans reward employees based on results for which they are directly
responsible. The end result should be that excellent performers receive higher incentive awards than
poor performers. There are four types of individual incentive plans; Piecework plan. Under piecework
plans an employee s compensation depends on the number of units he or she produces over a given
period. Management incentive plans. These plans award bonuses to managers when they meet or
exceed objectives based on sales, profit, production or other for measures their

Analysis Of The Film Dunkirk
In Christopher Nolans most recent film, Dunkirk, he tells the story of allied soldiers being evacuated
from Belgium, after the Germans surrounded them, also know as Operation Dynamo. As a huge fan of
Nolan already, I thought this movie was a masterpiece. This was his first movie based on a war, and he
did a great job retelling the history. He used an approach that had the actors use very little talking, and
relied on the music and visuals to tell the story. The plot of Dunkirk revolves around the largest
evacuation in military history, and involves troops across all allied nations. Nolan has three major
settings for his movie, air, land, and sea. The air setting shows Tom Hardy as an allied pilot, providing
protection to the beaches as troops attempt to load naval vessels. There are scenes where he is in
dogfights with German planes, and he eventually gets shot down. The land setting involves the allied
troops attempting to evacuate the beach with only a few naval vessels supporting the operation. There
is constant chaos and confusion during the process, and many soldiers attempt to sneak on boats or
escape on their own. Finally on the sea, there are parts where naval vessels have to deal with attacks
from German airplanes, and some boats get sunk during the mission. There is also a time where it
shows British civilians using their own personal boats to come to the rescue of the troops. Throughout
the movie there is constant conflict ranging from equipment failure, to

Enlightenment In Society
[Title] Decisions are always hard to make and I ve never been too good at making them, but then I
realise whatever you decide, things will always turn around... Most mornings, I get up at seven, the
same time my alarm clock goes off. However, as I roll over to check the time, I see that I still have
another fifteen or so minutes in bed. I contemplate getting ready for the day that little bit earlier, but I
love lying in the warmth of my bed. The heat clings to me like honey on a honey dipper, drawing me
in, making it nearly impossible to leave. Before I know it, the intermittent buzzing of my alarm starts
to ring, forcing me up out of my bed to embrace the cold air on my body. I open my curtains to let me

The Revolution marks the time when we as a society reached what is known as enlightenment. From
what I remember at school, enlightenment means a complete comprehension and understanding of life
and we need it to prevent our home returning to what it was like before this. The world was crippled
with many hardships that were impossible to overcome and after years of turmoil, large numbers of
the population were wiped out by disease. The societies that survived toiled to achieve their
enlightened state and nowadays we continue the hard work of our ancestors to continuously live this
way. I live in Bonaventure, which is located in an area once known as Quebec and we were one of the
first civilisations to reach enlightenment. This means we are an example for other places to look to for
guidance and this is not an easy job. I am the head of Operations and Sanctity and I watch over all of
Bonaventure, ensuring that we further develop our lifestyle to lead the way for others. I also have to
deal with any setbacks that may arise in our community. However, this has only happened once or
twice in my time in this job. It has been seen to happen from time to time, but it is very rare. An
individual drop out of their state of enlightenment and they either have to reassimilate into
enlightenment again, or face the punishment of being ostracised from Bonaventure. It is not a fate

Brazil s The Unified Health System Essay
In Brazil s recent history, the country s healthcare market has been largely inaccessible to foreign
investment. The country has dedicated public funds to run health care facilities. According to (The
Lancet, 2014), Brazil s 1998 constitution officially declared all citizens were entitled to healthcare.
This provision birthed the Unified Health System (SUS). A system which relies heavily on taxes and
government support. Historically, Brazil s government has blocked FDI inflows in the health sector.
However stagnation, combined with a strong desire to spur economic growth, gave way to a major
policy change. As noted by (Alves, 2015), in January 2015 a new provision was enacted by the
Brazilian government to allow foreign investment in the health sector. This landmark policy alteration
may mark the beginning of dramatic increases in the countries Healthcare sector over the next decade.
Brazil s Healthcare system is divided into public (SUS) and private health coverage. As economic
prosperity increased over the past 20 years, more citizens have opted to purchase better coverage in
the public sector. Now, in 2015, policy reform has opened the door to foreign investors to enter the
market. This includes hospital construction/management, health insurance, even bio technical research
and development. Alves (2015), details the statement from representatives at Chenut Oliveira
Santiago, a Paris based law firm committed to assimilating foreign companies to Brazil s business

Someone knows your secret dream, that one great wish that you would pay anything for. That person

Something Wicked This Way

that strange music knowing the other was doing the same.
They both got dressed and raced out to the hilltop above the field to watch them set up and see what

Magwitch s Manipulations of Pip in Great Expectations Essay
Magwitch s Manipulations of Pip in Great Expectations
In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens criticizes the motivation of the lower classes to rise to the
level of wealth and education held by the upper classes by showing the extent to which Pip is
exploited by Magwitch to meet these goals. To meet the expectations of the gentleman, Pip must leave
his family and any possibility of earning his living in order to satisfy the educational and societal
demands of this standard. Magwitch, a social deviant, hopes to prove his viability by using his
unfortunate circumstances to produce a gentleman entirely by his own effort. Magwitch exhibits Pip to
the world as a gentleman who is not hardened by labor, but he does so by his ... Show more content on

The title of gentleman therefore denotes one who passes his time idly without and obligation or
responsibility besides remaining socially amiable. The emergence of the middle class in the nineteenth
century allowed people not of noble birth to enter the ranks of gentility. Becoming an educated and
morally noble gentleman had come within the reach of those who had previously been excluded.
Industry made it possible for someone of the working class to elevate his social position through his
own efforts. This new definition of the gentleman had a great appeal among the emerging middle class
because high birth, the traditional passport to recognition as a gentleman, could be side stepped at
least in theory (Platz 152). This new opportunity created a split between the traditional upper classes
and the newly established English bourgeoisie. Dickens recognized the paradoxical aspiration toward
the position of an idle gentleman through labor. Obtaining the appearance of a gentleman became
more important than the means by which the facade is constructed. Platz writes, Dickens Great
Expectations can be interpreted as an attempt to dismantle both the legitimacy and symbolic authority
of the gentleman (162). Pip deceives himself by accepting the old

Kristallnacht Informative Essay
On January 30, 1933, one of the most horrible events occurred. Everyone knows this day as the
beginning of The Holocaust. The Holocaust is one of the most horrific genocides. During The
Holocaust, six million Jewish people got murdered by Nazis. Men, women, and even children died. I
want to discuss this event in history. But there are also other events in history that are like The
Holocaust. Things like antisemitism, racism, and bullying, which are real issues as well. Today, I will
be discussing these problems, as well as discuss how you can stop it as a group, individual, and as a
nation.
On November 9, 1938, Kristallnacht occurred, it was a horrific day for European Jews. Kristallnacht
means The Night of Broken Glass.¨ On that night Jewish people got beaten and killed, their homes got

stores were destroyed. Windows of the stores were broken and glass was everywhere. According to

Critically Asses, with Reference to William James, the...
In the book the varieties of religious experience , James concluded that religious experience testifies
that we can experience union with something larger than ourselves and in that union find our greatest
peace . He defined such experiences as experiences of the divine and believed that religious
experience was at the heart of religion. For James, religious teachings, practices and attitudes are
second hand religion, which later develop as individuals reflect on their common experience. It is the
actual experiences that directly point to God. However this theory does little to prove religious
experiences simply because many of his claims do not stand up to critical analysis.
James looked at a variety of religious experiences, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, James believed that the religious experiences from the different faiths were similar. They
were experiences of the same ultimate reality which is then interpreted into the second hand religious
structure of that person. A Christian might interpret an experience as the presence of the Holy Spirit,
whereas a Hindu might interpret it differently.
James also argued that despite the wide variety of religious experiences there is a common core to all
of them, they will normally include similar elements, like the sense of being in the presence of a
greater power or the recipient has relatively little control over the experience. Also includes an insight
into usually unseen dimensions of existence which are of intrinsic value and fundamental importance .
For some they may consist of a direct experience of the divine or may be a gradual realisation that
there is more to life than the world around us and it often leads to a greater understanding of God.
James claimed that this common core pointed to a single objective source of all religious experiences.
In response, many critics claim that it is difficult to even define or interpret what a genuine religious
experience is let alone decide if they have a common core. Many scholars claim a common core is
simply not true and the sheer variety of religious experiences suggest they have a human rather than a
divine origin. Critics further point out, that it is

How and why women are represented as being vulnerable and superficial in Sylvia Plath s poem
Mirror?
Sylvia Plath s poem Mirror deals with women s preoccupation about aging and their concern towards
their looks. Plath uses powerful imagery throughout the poem to relate to the theme of All is Vanity 1
denouncing the superficiality of women, making a social critique of women s illogical attraction to
mirrors and their own image. Proper of Plath s confessional poetry, she portrays her own anxieties
about aging from a global feminine perspective. In this essay I am going to analyze why Plath, being a
woman, represents this social group as being shallow and susceptible.

The Fundamental Principles Of The Metaphysics Of Morals
Introduction:
In the reading of Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Morals, Kant mentions our actions
being done out of duty or of desire. In which we have our maxims are a fraction of our actions and it
turns into a universal law. In this essay, I shall explain what Kant means by I can also will that my
maxim should become a universal law (Prompt). Also, how it corresponds to the first proposition, that
Kant states, which is an action must be from moral duty. I will provide an example of this proposition
taking place.
Summary:
Emmanuel Kant has three propositions of morality. One of the propositions is that in order to have
moral worth, an action must be from a moral duty. The second proposition is that action whether the
action is in accord with duty has been done from duty or from some selfish purpose is easy (Cahn 76).
The third proposition is that action accord with duty and the subject has in addition an immediate
inclination to do the action (Cahn 76). Each one of the propositions has a different distinct and they
are connected to morality. There are several actions that can be done out of duty, while others can be
done out of desire. Each one of these two are used to determine if it s done in a moral way. Kant gives
two examples, one example is about a self interested shopkeeper and the other is a reluctant
benefactor. In the self interested shop keeper, the dealer is focused on having fixed prices for
everyone. He needs the customers to keep coming

Frauds in Insurance

Insurance is one of the tools for risk management that aims at reducing the risk on the day to day life
of individuals, organisation and society. At the same time, it should also be appreciated that insurance
cannot be utilised as a risk free tool for all types of situations. Insurance provides risk management

The origin of life insurance in India can be traced back to 1818 with the establishment of the Oriental
Life Insurance Company in Calcutta. It was conceived as a means to provide for English Widows. In
those days a higher premium was charged for Indian lives than the non Indian lives as Indian lives
were considered riskier for coverage. The Bombay Mutual Life Insurance Society that started its
business in 1870 was the first company to charge same premium for both Indian and non Indian lives.
In 1912, insurance regulation formally began with the passing of Life Insurance Companies Act and
the Provident Fund Act.
By 1938, there were 176 insurance companies in India. But a number of frauds during 1920s and
1930s tainted the image of insurance industry in India. In 1938, the first comprehensive legislation
regarding insurance was introduced with the passing of Insurance Act of 1938 that provided strict
State Control over insurance business.
Insurance sector in India grew at a faster pace after independence. In 1956, Government of India
brought together 245 Indian and foreign insurers and provident societies under one nationalised
monopoly corporation and formed Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) by an Act of Parliament, viz. LIC
Act, 1956, with a capital contribution of Rs.5 crore.

Sisyphus And The Stranger Analysis
In the written texts Myth of Sisyphus and The Stranger , French author Albert Camus vividly portrays
parallelism between his fictional characters. Through Meursault s narrative and time spent in jail in
The Stranger , Meursault reveals his emotionally removed temperament, earning himself the status of
an outsider. In contrast to Meursault, Sisyphus was never labeled as an outsider, but did not bring
joyous thoughts among the gods; Sisyphus was a burden to the gods. Although Meursault and
Sisyphus have their differences, their love for life, defiant behavior toward their punishments, and
their acceptance of their fates are the parallels between them.
To begin, Meursault was sent to jail for shooting an Arab man while at the beach with a few friends
and Marie. Upon entering the jail, Meursault was stripped of his favorite pleasures such as smoking
cigarettes, having sex, and walking along the beach. After befriending a prison guard, Meursault
began to understand his punishment was his loss of free will. After a short withdraw period from
thinking like a free man to thinking like a prisoner, (Camus, The Stranger, 77) Meursault s perspective
on prison begins to shift, if ...[he] had gotten used to not smoking , it was no longer a punishment for
him (Camus, The Stranger, 78). Meursault realizes he can adapt to any situation because he often
thought if [he] had to live in the trunk of a dead tree, with nothing to do...[he] would have gotten used
to it (Camus, The Stanger, 77). He starts to deplete himself of boredom by entertaining mind, reliving
enjoyable memories, fantasizing about sex with women, and mentally redecorating his apartment. This
allowed Meursault to not think about time and adjust to his new way of life in jail as if he was living
in that dead tree trunk. After spending a pleasant year in jail, Meursault s case was settled and he was
sentenced to death. Since Meursault was an atheist, he denied seeing the Chaplin three times. He did
not wish to talk to the Chaplin because All [he] could think about was escaping the machinery of
justice... (Camus, The Stranger, 108). Shortly before his death date, Meursault had the chance to speak
with the Chaplin. Meursault told the Chaplin that earth was not

Man In The Water Analysis
Man in the Water Man creates the simplicity in which he lives, until faced with a choice; a choice that
can change the perception of life, love, and selflessness. The man in the water is perceived as a hero,
however, that man may have never quite known what it meant to be truly selfless. He is known for his
anonymity, and his heroism, but what a person may not realize, is that he is known for making a
choice, an amazing factor in this, is he made his choice many more times than one. Also, he is seen as
courageous, however his true act of courage may not have been the saving of lives, but the giving of
his own in the process. Lastly, the man in the water fought for his life, and many others until his death.
The true selflessness, heroism, and deliverance, of the man in the water, prove that there is good in the
world, however, good is a choice one must make.

Renaissance Rebirth
Revival, Rebirth, these are the words that describes the Renaissance period. The Renaissance period
was a period in Europe during the 1300 1700 it was a period of rebirth . It was the period between the
high middle ages to the modern age. The Renaissance period influenced/ pioneered the things or ideas
we use today.During this period, science and technology boosted while, the arts became famous.
Renaissance humanism and the bubonic plague (black death)led to the renaissance period this is
because there was a need of rebirth after the series of epidemics, also people relied on REASON rather
than FAITH for explanations thus, boosting science and technology.
Humanism changed the way people see things.During the middle ages people believe in religion as the
ultimate virtue but, during the renaissance period they now beleived in reason. Also, they know focus
on learning from human experiences rather than the life of Jesus Christ.Human living is now the

Comparing the Openings of the Film Versions of Romeo and Juliet by Franco Zeffirelli and Baz
Luhrmann Both openings of Romeo and Juliet by Franco Zeffirelli and Baz Luhrmann show
similarities and contrasts. Although both versions are faithful to the text as the words spoken by the
voiceover in the Prologue are the same, the methods of presentation are clearly different. Zeffirelli
places the film in the 17th century and takes a more traditional approach. By using a white middle
aged male for the voiceover, Zeffirelli is just giving the audience exactly what they expect, the first
opportunity to see Romeo and Juliet on the screen is when as the film was made in 1968. This...

I think it is also important that the statue is smaller than the skyscrapers as this suggests that the
families in this time were so powerful that they were in fact more influential than God. I think that the
purpose of the frantic introduction and the short takes represent snapshots taken by a camera and give
the impression that there is a lot of action in the film. Zeffirelli, however uses only 2 shots in his
opening with slow panning from left to right, this connotes a slow, more tranquil film. Luhrmann
ignores the stereotypes of Shakespeare, so therefore he has more freedom to portray the film in a
modern way. There is a quiet string quartet playing in Zeffirelli s opening which creates a calm
atmosphere. The non diegetic music in Luhrmann s is Cammina Burra , which is a dramatic opera and
as the music crescendos, all of the snapshots become faster and have more dramatic images like gun
battles and fighting. This makes the audience realise that the music will be connected to what is
happening in the film, and the directors could use a diminuendo to build tension during tense
moments. This opera connotes the emotions anger, despair and confusion, and because the music
climaxes early on, before the audience has time to settle into the film, suggests that the film is going to
be action packed and will grab their attention straight away. The uses of the various sizes of

The Impact Of English As A Lingua Franca
English has undergone some changes in relation to its status in the world. Some years ago, it only
became the first or second language for several countries. Nowadays, alongside with the development
of information, communication, and technology the status of English becomes a lingua franca in the
world. That is, a language that is used as a means of communication between people with different
language. This change, of course, brings some impacts in the roles of English as a language. English is
not seen as a language for identity anymore. Yet, it functions mainly as a means of communication.
Added to this, the change of the English status as a lingua franca will also impact to the educational
sector especially in English Language Teaching (ELT). With regard to this issue, this paper tries to
present the notion of English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) and its implication to the teaching learning
process especially in Indonesian context.

18 years, there are some events that have a great impact on me. Between those events, I think that
getting the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) from the Hong Kong government is the
one which really change my life. It effects my life in both positive and negative ways. As its name
implies, CSSA is a scheme to help the underclass and working poor. Under the scheme, the CSSA
recipients will get certain amount of payment from the government monthly. The amount varies based
on the age, household size and the health of the recipients. There are also supplement such as the
single parent Supplement and the residential care supplement to those in need. My family have
received the assistance since I was 8 years old. Before that, my father was an unlicensed itinerant
hawker who sold clothes in the streets as the government do not grant hawker licenses since 1970s.
My father went to work every early, at 3 am. Thus every time I woke up, he has gone. Being an
unlicensed hawker is tough in Hong Kong, they need to worry about if there are customers. However,
the most important thing is to avoid the hawker control teams. If they are found unlicensed by the
team, they will be sent to the court and fined. Moreover, all of their goods will be confiscated. The
income of my family was unstable at that time. It depends on whether my father was lucky or not. If

Based on past data, the current control limit for the organization is 99.73% for this process, with the
random selection of 16 soles over a 15 hour period for a size 10. Therefore, in order to improve
quality we must set up control limits for sample means using standard deviation. The random selection
of 16 soles we must find the overall mean to calculate its control limits.
The average length in the sample size can be determined by adding the lengths and dividing them by
the total number of samples
10+10.3+10.2+10.1+10+10+10.2+10+9.9+10+9.8+10+10.8+10.6+9.7/15=10.11
The average mean of the samples size are 10.11
Now that the average mean size has been determined, we must determine the UCL upper control
limits and the LCL lower control limits.
The UCL = x+zox= 10.375
The LCL = x zox=9.625
Based on the UCL of 10.375 and the LCL of 9.625, samples that fall out of the range are consider to
be out of control. The current Control Limits for Shoe Sole Height Samples are between 9.625 and
10.375. Some selections within the 15 hour period fall out the upper and lower control limits. The
samples are out of control within the hours of 13 and 14. . As a result, the work for hours 13 and 14

Argumentative Essay On Little Rock Nine
The Little Rock Nine was a group of nine African American students who enrolled in Little Rock
Central High School in 1957. Their enrollment was very controversial and sparked many protests, and
was then followed by the Little Rock Crisis, in which the students were initially prevented from
entering the racially segregated school by Orval Faubus, the Governor of Arkansas. They then
attended after the involvement of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The U.S. Supreme Court issued its historic Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, on May
17, 1954. Involved in the 14th Amendment, the decision declared all laws instating segregated schools
to be unlawful, and it called for the desegregation of all schools throughout the nation. After the
decision, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) attempted to
register black students in previously all white schools in cities throughout the South. In Little Rock,
the capital city of Arkansas, the Little Rock School Board agreed to comply with the high court s
ruling. Virgil Blossom, the Superintendent of Schools, submitted a plan of measured integration to the
school board on May 24, 1955, which the board unanimously ratified. The plan would be
implemented during the fall of the 1957 school year.
By 1957, the NAACP had registered nine black students to attend the formerly all white Little Rock
Central High, selected on the conditions of exceptional grades and attendance. Called the Little Rock

The French Revolution And The American Revolution
The French Revolution: The event that led to the transformation of the globe into the world we know
it as today. One of the most revolutionary events in human history was started by a group of
individuals sitting in the Palace of Versailles who decided that enough was enough and that the only
answer to the injustices of the ruling regime was Revolution. These people eventually became known
as the National Constituent Assembly, or, colloquially, the National Assembly. Over the course of two
years, this National Assembly sparked a revolution, established a new form of government in one of
the oldest European nations, and made a new society based on the principles created during the
Enlightenment. The National Assembly initially grew out of a national debt issue brought about by
French involvement in the Seven Years War and the American Revolution (SparkNotes Editors, 2005).
The amount of debt that France had built up due to these two wars, plus the debt racked up by
domestic spending and corruption, was so large that, according to Bentley and Ziegler, half of
government revenue went to the national debt (p. 627). This, in turn, caused King Louis XVI to call a
session of the Estates General, which is called to order during times of great tension and stress within
the country. The Estates General was essentially a legislature that was broken up into three equal
groups of representatives. These representatives represented the First Estate (clergy and members of

The purpose of a meeting is to inform team members of ideas as well as problems that may arise.
During meetings, attendees will have the opportunity to voice their opinions and views whilst listening
to others points of views. The attendees of a meeting should be people who have got a purpose and

important and also so no decisions are made without their opinion.
Q Explain ways to achieve maximum attendance at meetings. (1.3)
A One way of achieving maximum attendance at a meeting is by sending out an invitation email
which gives the recipient the chance to accept, decline or hold the invitation to the meeting. This way,
it automatically updates their calendar if they accept the invitation and allows you to know who is
attending. Another way to achieve maximum attendance is arranging a time and location that
accommodates everyone that you want to be at the meeting. Choosing a time and place when someone
is busy will ultimately mean that one person already can t make it.

Nobody Owens In The Graveyard Book By Neil Gaiman
Life is such a diverse and mysterious topic, is it a journey? What is its purpose? How does the science
behind it work? Well, in the book The Graveyard Book, Neil Gaiman illustrates this beautifully,
showing how the protagonist, Nobody Owens is a dynamic character and changes throughout the
story.
One way Bod changes is how he realizes that life is the journey between being born and death, and he
wants to live life to its full extent. Before, he only thought that life was a bland passage into death and
the afterlife, his world. But after some time, Bod matures and when he is getting ready to leave the

Analysis Of Still Life With A Skull And A Writing Quill
The Netherlands in the Seventeenth Century was the home of many famous artists, most notably
Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, but also many lesser known artists such as Pieter Claesz.. Pieter
Claesz was born in 1597 in Berchem (near Antwerp) Claesz moved to Haarlem in 1620 and lived there
till his death in 1660. He is most associated with the Flemish and Dutch still life tradition and still lifes
make up a vast majority of his work. His 1628 painting Still Life with a Skull and a Writing Quill is a
prime example of the Still Life style called Vanitas, so named as the artist would attempt to display the
vanity of materialism.
As the name suggests the skull instantly draws the eye, the hollow face of the skull is in the center of
the oil on wood painting. The skull extends to the right where one sees an empty glass on its side
resting at an angle to the skull. The glass is reflecting light along its curve but does not give one an
actual reflection. Beneath both the skull and glass is a book and a sheaf of papers in a portfolio. The
book s binding is brown and the pages are yellowing, whereas the papers in the moss green portfolio
are a contrasting white. The presence of paper fits with the other object in the title the writing quill,
whose feather rests on the book and sheaf. The head of the quill points to the right of the painting
where it rests on an overturned ink well. In the background of this painting smoke is rising off a
recently extinguished oil lamp, partially in

Another early example of mma was Bartitsu, which Edward Barton Wright founded in London in
1899. Combining jujutsu, judo, boxing, canne de combat and savate, Bartitsu was the first martial art
known to have combined Asian and European fighting styles, and which saw MMA style competitions
throughout England, pitting Japanese and European champions against representatives of various
European wrestling styles. In Japan the contests were known as merikan, from the Japanese slang for
American . These contests were fought under a variety of rules including points decision,
knockdowns, and victory via submission or knockout.
As the admiration of professional wrestling waned after World War I it split into two genres: shoot , in
which the fighters really competed, and show , which changed into modern professional wrestling.
In 1963, Judo Gene Lebell fought the professional boxer Milo Savage in a no holds barred fight.
Lebell won by a rear naked choke, leaving Milo Savage unconscious.
In the late 1960s to early 1970s, the theory of combining multiple martial arts was popularized in the

Karate or Judo man. The best fighter is someone who can adapt to any style, to be formless, to adopt

Contingent Labour Essay
A contingent workforce is a temporary group of workers who work for an organization on a non
permanent basis, also known as freelancers, independent professionals, temporary contract workers,
independent contractors or consultants. The contingent workforce style of labor is becoming much
more popular in the American economy today because of several different contributing factors. The
driving force behind the idea of a contingent workforce is globalization. With the world s economies

By using the contingent strategy knowledge and information are accessed without the expense of
training current employees. Increased competition requires that employers have flexibility in adjusting
employment levels and employment costs to demand for its product or services and in relationship to
its level of operations. With the use of a contingent workforce the organization then gains this needed
flexibility. A savings in cost is often resulted in the outsourcing of the organization s work to
organizations located in foreign countries in which the wage rates are low. The drawbacks to
employing a contingent workforce are: The lack of loyalty to the organization. Being that the
employee is working on a temporary basis; will he or she act in the best interest of the company? The
use of temporary employees will lower moral of the overall organization. Full time employees may

The Enigma Code
Everyone has a passion, everyone has a purpose, but more importantly everyone has an impact. In the
beginning of the 20th Century, there was a boy named Alan Turing who seemed like any other
troublesome delinquent, but as he grew he became one of the most crucial tools for the British
Military. Morten Tyldum directs, The Imitation Game, which is a piece of cinematography created to
illustrate the period of time during WWII where the German use of the Enigma code, which is an
encrypted form of communication, had not yet been solved. This mystery allowed Germans to
communicate freely, without having to worry about other countries interfering.. The British force
attempted to crack the code, but there were several obstacles that stood in their way that earned the
enigma code, impossible to crack. The decryption of the Enigma code was such a daunting task
primarily because there were millions upon millions of settings for the transmitting machine, and
those attempting to understand had less than 24 hours to crack it, or else the cycle started over. The
movie focuses primarily on the leader of the team that cracked the code, Alan Turing. It begins post
World War II, in an effort to demonstrate how Turing s sexual orientation lead to his depression and
suicide, as well as to highlight that the life a genius man who saved millions of lives was never

Chapter 2 defined three stages in the writing process which are Writing for an Audience by Linda
Flower, Getting Started by Anne Lamott, and Writing to Change the World by Mary Pipher which are
all important articles as narrated by each author. After I have read all these three steps, I chose getting
started in writing as the most important stage and I will show you the readers how I came about this
statement through Anne Lamott s article. Lamott provided knowledge, references and experiences on
the way to get started and how to be at ease on what to write for students and would be writers. The
first thing to consider is how does one get to start writing. I consider myself not that good at writing,
especially in English, for I am bilingual. Even so, I read from one article that if you just write for your
assignment, it is not good enough, you need to write for yourself to see if you can do it. Lamott states
the biggest challenge for students is simply getting started. As a student myself, I find myself lost on
where to begin and very scared of filling out three pages to five pages. Paragraph 9 tells you to sit
down on your writing desk with paper and pen or sit by your computer with a blank page with your
hands on the keyboard. This is the hard part where you try and come up with a topic to talk about. It
does not come to you right away while you are sitting down because you can t think right away.

Human Language And Animal Communication
Introduction
Firstly it is important to distinguish what is meant by human language and animal communication . By
providing definitions for both in my opening section I will then be able to go onto compare their
similarities and differences. Throughout this essay I will refer to the design features of language and
by comparing animal communication behaviours to them I will be able to show the extent to which
human language and animal communication are similar or different.
Defining Communication and Language
Communication can be defined as when ...the action of or cue given by one organism [the sender] is
perceived by and thus alters the probability pattern of behavior in another organism [the receiver] in a
fashion adaptive to either one both of the participants (Wilson 1975, p.111). Both humans and animals
are able to communicate.
Communication can be split into two categories: informative and communicative signals. Informative
signals are signs sent unintentionally, for example a human could talk fast to show nerves. Animals
can display this behavior too, for example an antelope running away from a lion would indicate it is
frightened. Communicative signals are intentional forms of communication by telling someone I am a
student you are intentionally telling them that you are a student. In animals, by barking a police dog is
intentionally telling the police to check a person.
The Oxford English Dictionary defines language as a system of human communication .

Giza Necropolis
What magnificent scenery, and such a site to see. Once I laid my eyes on the pyramids I knew that my
dream was coming true, and it was at that very moment. The pyramids of Egypt were built by
mankind, these men used only their bare hands, stones, and copper chisels. They didn t need a phone,
computer, or a handheld tablet. They built one of the most beautiful manmade structures by pure man
power. Egyptian culture is also the origin of makeup. Makeup is a hobby of mine and seeing were is
comes from is astounding. Giza Necropolis in Egypt is so elegant, beautiful, and has so much history.
The Egyptian pyramids are located in the southwestern suburbs of Cairo. They stand near one of the
longest rivers on earth, the Nile. The population is around 2.5 million. This makes Giza one of the
highest populated cities in the Arab world. What makes it so popular are the pyramids. Most people
there speak Arabic, English, and French. I read on Touropia Travel Experts that Giza was Voted # 1
place to visit in Egypt.
There is only one way to get there from the United States, and that s taking a plane. According to
TripAdvisor.com a round trip to Egypt and back home cost $1353. Purchase a visa ... Show more

The tallest, and most important pyramid is Khufu, Khufu stands 481 feet tall. In order for it to be built
in 30 years the laborers had to lay 2.5 to 15 ton blocks every 2.5 minutes. These men transported
blocks that weighed over twelve ton at least 500 miles. They did not use trucks or technology. That in
itself is more than a lot of people do in their entire life. I could not imagine the hard work these men
went through to build their kings death palace. Khufu is one of the last Seven Wonders of the World
that still stands. It stands not alone, but with two other pyramids. Those pyramids are known as Khafre
which is a 471 feet tall pyramid, and Mankaure, the baby of the pyramids, stands 213 feet

Analysis Of Sleuthing The Alamo
While the Texas Revolution began as colonists in the Mexican province of Texas rebelled against the
Mexican authority for political and economic reasons, many historians believed that there was a racial
and cultural factor in the conflict. Historians such as Eugene C. Barker, a prominent history professor
and an expert in Texas history, based his argument of a racial war on Sam Houston s speech to the
Texas volunteer army at Refugio. In his book, Sleuthing The Alamo, James Crisp comes to Sam
Houston s defense and disproves Barker s argument by taking a closer look at the speech and the
details associated with it. For many years, Sam Houston s speech at Refugio was closely associated as
being racial and prejudice towards the Tejanos. As Crisp put it straightforwardly the words of the
speech were harsh. They accused the Tejanos, the Mexicans living in Texas, of aiding the enemy in
great numbers. Additionally, San Houston referred to the Tejanos as half Indians and emphasized the
superiority of the white man by saying nor will the vigor of the descendants of the sturdy north ever
mix with the phlegm of the indolent Mexicans, no matter how long we may live among them. Houston
s discriminatory language against the Mexicans, as well as, the negative manner in which he portrayed
the Indians stunned Crisp. Crisp declared the words seemed so unlike Houston and given his long and
friendly relationships with Native Americans, how could Houston revile Mexicans by calling them
half Indians? Those questions compelled Crisp to search and investigate much deeper. Firstly, he
discovered that the Texas revolt was a much more complicated event than a race war. According to
Crisp, the conflict arose over the fundamental differences between the white colonists of Texas, rather
than a cultural conflict. Differences such as disagreements over states rights, excessively high tariffs
and a dictatorial type of Mexican Government were some of the reasons that forced the white
colonists of Texas to break away from the Mexican rule. Crisp believed, that conflict between the two
groups was not so much an immediate cause as it was an eventual consequence of Texas s separation
from Mexico. In other words, the racial

Individual incentive pay plans are most appropriate under three conditions; First, employee s performance can be measured objectively, Second, individual incentive plans are appropriate when employees have sufficient control over work outcomes, Third, individual incentive plans are appropriate when they do not create a level of unhealthy competition among workers that ultimately leads to poor quality. Individual Incentive plans reward employees for meeting such work related performance standards as quality, productivity, customer satisfaction, safety or attendance. Any one of these standards by itself or in combination may be used. A company ultimately should employ the standards that represent work that an employee actually performs. When designed and implemented well, individual incentive plans reward employees based on results for which they are directly responsible. The end result should be that excellent performers receive higher incentive awards than poor performers. There are four types of individual incentive plans; Piecework plan. • 3. Analysis Of The Film Dunkirk In Christopher Nolans most recent film, Dunkirk, he tells the story of allied soldiers being evacuated from Belgium, after the Germans surrounded them, also know as Operation Dynamo. As a huge fan of Nolan already, I thought this movie was a masterpiece. This was his first movie based on a war, and he did a great job retelling the history. He used an approach that had the actors use very little talking, and relied on the music and visuals to tell the story. The plot of Dunkirk revolves around the largest evacuation in military history, and involves troops across all allied nations. Nolan has three major settings for his movie, air, land, and sea. The air setting shows Tom Hardy as an allied pilot, providing protection to the beaches as troops attempt to load naval vessels. There are scenes where he is in dogfights with German planes, and he eventually gets shot down. The land setting involves the allied troops attempting to evacuate the beach with only a few naval vessels supporting the operation. There is constant chaos and confusion during the process, and many soldiers attempt to sneak on boats or escape on their own. Finally on the sea, there are parts where naval vessels have to deal with attacks from German airplanes, and some boats get sunk during the mission. There is also a time where it shows British civilians using their own personal boats to come to the rescue of the troops. Throughout the movie there is constant conflict ranging from equipment failure, to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The world was crippled with many hardships that were impossible to overcome and after years of turmoil, large numbers of the population were wiped out by disease. The societies that survived toiled to achieve their enlightened state and nowadays we continue the hard work of our ancestors to continuously live this way. I live in Bonaventure, which is located in an area once known as Quebec and we were one of the first civilisations to reach enlightenment. This means we are an example for other places to look to for guidance and this is not an easy job. The country has dedicated public funds to run health care facilities. According to (The Lancet, 2014), Brazil s 1998 constitution officially declared all citizens were entitled to healthcare. This provision birthed the Unified Health System (SUS). A system which relies heavily on taxes and government support. Historically, Brazil s government has blocked FDI inflows in the health sector. However stagnation, combined with a strong desire to spur economic growth, gave way to a major policy change. As noted by (Alves, 2015), in January 2015 a new provision was enacted by the Brazilian government to allow foreign investment in the health sector. This landmark policy alteration may mark the beginning of dramatic increases in the countries Healthcare sector over the next decade. To meet the expectations of the gentleman, Pip must leave his family and any possibility of earning his living in order to satisfy the educational and societal demands of this standard. The title of gentleman therefore denotes one who passes his time idly without and obligation or responsibility besides remaining socially amiable. The emergence of the middle class in the nineteenth century allowed people not of noble birth to enter the ranks of gentility. Becoming an educated and morally noble gentleman had come within the reach of those who had previously been excluded. Industry made it possible for someone of the working class to elevate his social position through his own efforts. This new definition of the gentleman had a great appeal among the emerging middle class because high birth, the traditional passport to recognition as a gentleman, could be side stepped at least in theory (Platz 152). This new opportunity created a split between the traditional upper classes and the newly established English bourgeoisie. Dickens recognized the paradoxical aspiration toward the position of an idle gentleman through labor. Obtaining the appearance of a gentleman became more important than the means by which the facade is constructed. Platz writes, Dickens Great Expectations can be interpreted as an attempt to dismantle both the legitimacy and symbolic authority of the gentleman (162). Pip deceives himself by accepting the old ... In the book the varieties of religious experience , James concluded that religious experience testifies that we can experience union with something larger than ourselves and in that union find our greatest peace . He defined such experiences as experiences of the divine and believed that religious experience was at the heart of religion. For James, religious teachings, practices and attitudes are second hand religion, which later develop as individuals reflect on their common experience. It is the actual experiences that directly point to God. However this theory does little to prove religious experiences simply because many of his claims do not stand up to critical analysis. They were experiences of the same ultimate reality which is then interpreted into the second hand religious structure of that person. A Christian might interpret an experience as the presence of the Holy Spirit, whereas a Hindu might interpret it differently. James also argued that despite the wide variety of religious experiences there is a common core to all of them, they will normally include similar elements, like the sense of being in the presence of a greater power or the recipient has relatively little control over the experience. Also includes an insight into usually unseen dimensions of existence which are of intrinsic value and fundamental importance . For some they may consist of a direct experience of the divine or may be a gradual realisation that there is more to life than the world around us and it often leads to a greater understanding of God. James claimed that this common core pointed to a single objective source of all religious experiences. In response, many critics claim that it is difficult to even define or interpret what a genuine religious experience is let alone decide if they have a common core. Many scholars claim a common core is simply not true and the sheer variety of religious experiences suggest they have a human rather than a divine origin. Critics further point out, that it is ... In contrast to Meursault, Sisyphus was never labeled as an outsider, but did not bring joyous thoughts among the gods; Sisyphus was a burden to the gods. I think that the purpose of the frantic introduction and the short takes represent snapshots taken by a camera and give the impression that there is a lot of action in the film. Zeffirelli, however uses only 2 shots in his opening with slow panning from left to right, this connotes a slow, more tranquil film. Luhrmann ignores the stereotypes of Shakespeare, so therefore he has more freedom to portray the film in a modern way. There is a quiet string quartet playing in Zeffirelli s opening which creates a calm atmosphere. The non diegetic music in Luhrmann s is Cammina Burra , which is a dramatic opera and as the music crescendos, all of the snapshots become faster and have more dramatic images like gun battles and fighting. This makes the audience realise that the music will be connected to what is happening in the film, and the directors could use a diminuendo to build tension during tense moments. This opera connotes the emotions anger, despair and confusion, and because the music climaxes early on, before the audience has time to settle into the film, suggests that the film is going to be action packed and will grab their attention straight away. Their enrollment was very controversial and sparked many protests, and was then followed by the Little Rock Crisis, in which the students were initially prevented from entering the racially segregated school by Orval Faubus, the Governor of Arkansas. They then attended after the involvement of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The U.S. Supreme Court issued its historic Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, on May 17, 1954. Involved in the 14th Amendment, the decision declared all laws instating segregated schools to be unlawful, and it called for the desegregation of all schools throughout the nation. After the decision, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) attempted to register black students in previously all white schools in cities throughout the South. In Little Rock, the capital city of Arkansas, the Little Rock School Board agreed to comply with the high court s ruling. • 29. The French Revolution And The American Revolution The French Revolution: The event that led to the transformation of the globe into the world we know it as today. One of the most revolutionary events in human history was started by a group of individuals sitting in the Palace of Versailles who decided that enough was enough and that the only answer to the injustices of the ruling regime was Revolution. These people eventually became known as the National Constituent Assembly, or, colloquially, the National Assembly. Over the course of two years, this National Assembly sparked a revolution, established a new form of government in one of the oldest European nations, and made a new society based on the principles created during the Enlightenment. The National Assembly initially grew out of a national debt issue brought about by French involvement in the Seven Years War and the American Revolution (SparkNotes Editors, 2005). The amount of debt that France had built up due to these two wars, plus the debt racked up by domestic spending and corruption, was so large that, according to Bentley and Ziegler, half of government revenue went to the national debt (p. 627). This, in turn, caused King Louis XVI to call a session of the Estates General, which is called to order during times of great tension and stress within the country. The Estates General was essentially a legislature that was broken up into three equal groups of representatives. These representatives represented the First Estate (clergy and members of the ... Pieter Claesz was born in 1597 in Berchem (near Antwerp) Claesz moved to Haarlem in 1620 and lived there till his death in 1660. He is most associated with the Flemish and Dutch still life tradition and still lifes make up a vast majority of his work. His 1628 painting Still Life with a Skull and a Writing Quill is a prime example of the Still Life style called Vanitas, so named as the artist would attempt to display the vanity of materialism. As the name suggests the skull instantly draws the eye, the hollow face of the skull is in the center of the oil on wood painting. The skull extends to the right where one sees an empty glass on its side resting at an angle to the skull. The glass is reflecting light along its curve but does not give one an actual reflection. Beneath both the skull and glass is a book and a sheaf of papers in a portfolio. By providing definitions for both in my opening section I will then be able to go onto compare their similarities and differences. Throughout this essay I will refer to the design features of language and by comparing animal communication behaviours to them I will be able to show the extent to which human language and animal communication are similar or different. Defining Communication and Language Communication can be defined as when ...the action of or cue given by one organism [the sender] is perceived by and thus alters the probability pattern of behavior in another organism [the receiver] in a fashion adaptive to either one both of the participants (Wilson 1975, p.111). Both humans and animals are able to communicate. Communication can be split into two categories: informative and communicative signals. Informative signals are signs sent unintentionally, for example a human could talk fast to show nerves. Animals can display this behavior too, for example an antelope running away from a lion would indicate it is frightened. Communicative signals are intentional forms of communication by telling someone I am a student you are intentionally telling them that you are a student. In animals, by barking a police dog is intentionally telling the police to check a person. The Oxford English Dictionary defines language as a system of human communication . ... • 44. Analysis Of Sleuthing The Alamo While the Texas Revolution began as colonists in the Mexican province of Texas rebelled against the Mexican authority for political and economic reasons, many historians believed that there was a racial and cultural factor in the conflict. Historians such as Eugene C. Barker, a prominent history professor and an expert in Texas history, based his argument of a racial war on Sam Houston s speech to the Texas volunteer army at Refugio. In his book, Sleuthing The Alamo, James Crisp comes to Sam Houston s defense and disproves Barker s argument by taking a closer look at the speech and the details associated with it. For many years, Sam Houston s speech at Refugio was closely associated as being racial and prejudice towards the Tejanos. As Crisp put it straightforwardly the words of the speech were harsh. They accused the Tejanos, the Mexicans living in Texas, of aiding the enemy in great numbers. Additionally, San Houston referred to the Tejanos as half Indians and emphasized the superiority of the white man by saying nor will the vigor of the descendants of the sturdy north ever mix with the phlegm of the indolent Mexicans, no matter how long we may live among them. Houston s discriminatory language against the Mexicans, as well as, the negative manner in which he portrayed the Indians stunned Crisp. Crisp declared the words seemed so unlike Houston and given his long and friendly relationships with Native Americans, how could Houston revile Mexicans by calling them half Indians? Those questions compelled Crisp to search and investigate much deeper. Firstly, he discovered that the Texas revolt was a much more complicated event than a race war. According to Crisp, the conflict arose over the fundamental differences between the white colonists of Texas, rather than a cultural conflict. Differences such as disagreements over states rights, excessively high tariffs and a dictatorial type of Mexican Government were some of the reasons that forced the white colonists of Texas to break away from the Mexican rule. Crisp believed, that conflict between the two groups was not so much an immediate cause as it was an eventual consequence of Texas s separation from Mexico. In other words, the racial ...
