Immortality In American Countries
and ethics and disrupt the peace of governments, immortality is not desirable from ethical and
sociocultural perspectives.
Since the desire of immortality may cause economic problems for both people and countries, this
idea must be given up immediately. Currently, one of the global issues that governments are
striving is that the older generations become predominant numerically in the societies. Even though
Japan, Australia or Scandinavian countries are the most developed places in the world, the main
obstacle in front of the growth of these countries is the economic problems of having older
populations ( Population Challenges and Development Goals , 2005). As the number of older
people increases, the economy is losing its dynamism since the

Poverty In Canada Essay
Poverty can be defined as a state of being extremely poor, not having the ability to own any
possessions of their own. When looking at the global economy as a whole, it becomes very
ostensible that the majority of people living in poverty is women and children. All over the world
millions of women and children are living in poverty. Whether we are looking at a developed
country or a less developed country, it is adamant. Between the different countries there are many
different reasons on why an increase in poverty has occurred but the consequences that are left
from poverty is all the same. Poverty has increased tremendously over the last decade in many
countries, developed or less developed. Poverty can be caused by many different factors,... Show

Extremes differ around the world but for fact in developed and developing countries the amount
of women living in poverty is adamant. Looking at the developing countries Canada and India
provides different ways of looking at poverty and how poverty is identified. Through Canada
women deal with poverty when their income is below the poverty line or they are using over
half of their income on necessities to live. In India women are encountering human poverty,
which is being without basic needs creating factors such as illiteracy, malnutrition, early death,
poor health care and no access to clean water. Despite some differences between the two
countries economies, women in both Canada and India face similar issues with poverty The
poverty of women in Canada and India is increasing as a result of globalization, social policies
that neglect women, inequality in employment, and existing gender based social repression
(Argiropoulos and Rajagopal 2003:612). The inequality of employment is a major cause of
poverty, once women have to enter the workforce an increase in feminization in the workforce has
taken place. Women are then segregated into the certain areas in the workforce, which often pay
less and demand a less amount of skill

Cameron Auto Part Essay
Please read Cameron Auto Parts Part (A) and answer those three guideline questions:
1.Should Cameron have licensed McTaggart or continued to export?
After I read this case, I can say that exporting is more profitable to Cameron because they can do
whatever they want at any time. This means that Cameron can earn the profit that it deserves, and
it will be only to itself. In other words, if Cameron continues exporting, it can maintain its
independence to manage better quality products at its own responsibility. Then, in the other side,
the cost advantages will be higher because of the results of the size of the operation and the cost
of the unit; what it is a benefit because in a long term the economies of scale will work to

Was McTaggart a good choice for licensee?
Yes, McTaggart was a good choice for license because it will help to make easier implementations.
The reason of this is that McTaggart reduces the financial risk that exporting could involve.
Another point is that as Cameron does not have the resources to capture foreign markets,
McTaggart will do it for less. Finally, Cameron will have patented its process.
As well, it is important to mention that McTaggart has excellent credit score and a reputation of
130 years as a family business that will operate the average factory wage rate for less than in
America. McTaggart will be looking to push sales in United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and
India, and with its actual clients.
3.Was the royalty rate reasonable? Did Cameron leave money on the table?
The royalty rate was too low and it left money on the table. The reason is that if they would have
decided for a higher rate, McTaggart could earn more benefit of it in the case of receive
equipment and training, as it said in the case that it was needed, and Cameron will receive more
money because of the sales that McTaggart could do. This is because McTaggart is already
positioned and it has the product in demand just for sale, and it will help Cameron to save money
in duty, freight and insurance because of the licensing that it will

Mountain Park Research Paper
I glare upon the mountains in Glacier National Park. I have my notepad ready to take notes on
what I see. I saw a lot of animals such as lions, mountain goats, etc. The park main animal is the
mountain goat; The goat has small horns. Its hair is sometimes shaggy; (the mountain can live
through temperatures as low as below 50 degrees.) Mountain goats often dwell in rocky cliffs at
high elevations throughout the year. The Glacier National Park has different kinds of forests; about
55% of Glacier is covered with forest. The forest I went through was along the Avalanche Lake
Trail. The trees there were long and lanky; on the ground was moss and slippery rock. It made it
difficult to walk through.

Hidden Reasons for Kodak s Digital Revolution Essay
Kodak and the Digital Revolution: Case Analysis
Since the early 1880 s, Kodak had proven themselves to be great innovators and had worked on
building their brand on a domestic and international front. They invested heavily in marketing to
establish their image and realized early on that their profits would come from consumables rather
than hardware. They sold their equipment at low prices in order to fuel their highly profitable
film sales. This use of a razor blade strategy, coupled with strong relationships with retailers
positioned Kodak as an industry leader. Additionally, their heavy investment in R amp;D allowed
Kodak to grow organically, proving fruitful with the advent of color film. Thus, Kodak s expertise

Mavica had the potential to greatly alter the landscape of its industry. Kodak acknowledged this
occurrence as a major paradigm shift; however, due to the escalating commitment and its deep
roots in traditional photography, Kodak failed to react accordingly. Kodak s CEO at the time,
Colby Chandler, outwardly recognized the public s affinity for color prints the product that made
Kodak a household name. Yet, others at Kodak went as far as to make doomsday predictions. Some
managers within Kodak felt that the inception of the Mavica would be the death of traditional
photography. It is apparent that Kodak should have invested in research and development as
traditional film was reaching its natural limit, thus causing the referenced paradigm shift. Without

Moreover, the Super Bowl is one of the most anticipated events of each year in the United States
because National Football League (NFL) fans patiently await the outcome of two teams about to
compete for the National Championship title. Although the winner of the Super Bowl is usually
the most important part of the game, the New England Patriots victory was not the highlight of the
game in this particular Super Bowl. In the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show, where Janet
Jackson and Justin Timberlake shared the stage, an incident occurred at the end of their
performance. Jackson had a wardrobe malfunction in which her right breast was exposed to all of
the viewers of Super Bowl XXXVIII. This scandal caused a media frenzy throughout the entire...

This act did not specify the difference between pornography and web sites that talk about sexual
education. With this the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Electronic Privacy
Information Center and cyber space groups challenged the act under the violation of the First
Amendment (Hull, 1999, p.33). Also, it prevents adults to receive any sexual content they want to
access. With these allegations, the Ninth District Court allowed an injunction of the act in
February of 1999 against its enforcement. As a result, the court argued that there were less
restrictive ways to reduce freedom of speech, subsequently using filters or blocking certain
keywords without denying adults the access of sexual content. The argument was that filters can
do what COPA could not. This method can also filter pornography not only in USA but around the
world. These filters would give parents the power to monitor their children s activity in the
internet. It was also required of school and public libraries to use these filters to prevent any
indecency to children (Paxton, 2008, p.108). Although the act was not enforced completely, the
Supreme Court did allow one of part of the act to pass, giving Congress the power to regulate the

The Characters, Setting, and Symbols of Heart of...
Beyond the shield of civilization and into the depths of a primitive, untamed frontier lies the true
face of the human soul. It is in the midst of this savagery and unrelenting danger that mankind
confronts the brooding nature of his inner self. Joseph Conrad s novel, Heart of Darkness, is the
story of one man s insight into life as he embarks on a voyage to the edges of the world. Here, he
meets the bitter, yet enlightening forces that eventually shape his outlook on lifeand his own
individuality. Conrad s portrayal of the characters, setting, and symbols, allow the reader to reflect
on the true natureof man.
The two main characters in Heart of Darkness, Marlow and Kurtz are used to show the true nature
of man, that is, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is expressed at both the start and the end of the novel. The light of Marlow, and his
subsequent psychological awareness and evolution, is contrasted by Kurtz, who, as many have
expressed, may represent the dark half of Marlow.
Marlow s journey leads him in an urgent search for Kurtz, the one man who can provide him
with the truth about himself. Like Marlow, Kurtz came to the Congo in hopes to bring light and
civilization to a backwards society. He is a highly educated, refined gentlemen; yet, in the end, the
brutal nature of the Congo forces him to resort to the life of a murderer and pilferer. The name
Kurtz itself has symbolic meaning. The physical shortness in Kurtz implies a shortness of
character and spirit (Heart of Darkness: A systematic evaluation). Marlow and Kurtz both
symbolize the two conditions of human nature. Kurtz represents what man could become if left to
his own intrinsic devices outside protective society. Marlow represents a pure untainted civilized
soul who has not been drawn to savagery by a dark, alienated jungle. (Heart of Darkness: A
systematic evaluation). When the two come face to face, each man sees a reflection of what he
might have become in the other. In Kurtz, Marlow sees the potential

The World s Biggest Fan
Can you imagine what would happen if all the ice on our planet melted? According to the National
Snow and Ice Data Center, about 15 million square miles of land are covered by ice, which means
that 10 percent of the land on Earth is ice. If all the ice were to melt, sea levels would rise about
200 feet, and coastal cities would be completely submerged underwater. Billions of people would
be homeless, and the habitats and lives of wildlife would be doomed. Plus, Earth s weather patterns
would go through massive changes, and salt water would pollute freshwater aquifers, affecting
drinking water and crops. The question now is not if this will happen, but when.
Since the beginning of time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These suggestions however are outrageous and impossible for everyday people to do. It s
unbelievable that scientists would even consider these solutions. That is why I have proposed
that we set up fans everywhere we can. By setting up fans everywhere we can, the cold air
produced will cool down Earth s temperatures and reverse the process of global warming. If this
plan is implemented, then climate change will be a thing of the past.
According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, a fan is an apparatus with rotating blades that
creates a current of air for cooling or ventilation . They are powered by a motor and work by
moving the air in front of the fan. This movement creates a breeze and chills the area. In the
summertime, my grandma uses a fan when her room gets too warm. Why can t we apply this
logic to combat the global warming of this room we call Earth? There are many options to
utilize the power of fans. One option is to set up enormous fans along the coastlines. Every
major city on the coastline will have a giant fan. They will install the fan onto a dock and will
constantly have it blowing, even in the wintertime. If the average fan is 16 inches and has a wind
speed of 7.2 meters/seconds, then a fan 10,000 times the size of an average fan will generate a
wind speed of 72,000 m/s. Scientist Matthew Jones says, that the combined amount of wind speed
from every city will be enough to drop Earth s temperature by 0.5п‚° F. Although people may argue

1. (Sub Point # 1) Social norms are the behaviors and cues within a society or group ( Deaf

forced to make up by approach situations differently using their other senses. In this culture, eye
contact is crucial as it is essential for effective communication ( Deaf Culture , 2011). From a
young age, deaf individuals are forced to learn to read lips and facial expressions in order to
have bet success in communicating with people who don t know ASL. Even when
communicating with a person familiar with ASL, one needs to use eye contact to pick up the

(Sub Point # 2) Secondly, it s sad to say, but sometimes the deaf population feels discriminated by
hearing authorities, emergency responders, or other organizations. For example, if one is
suddenly admitted into a hospital for fro an emergency, often times the language barrier still
remains. The deaf individual will be given a piece of paper to answer or ask questions. This is
quite a struggle because they are people too, who want to have a conversation and not be forced
to act as if they are less of a human. It is a terrible feeling to be forced to simplify your life for the
convenience of a system which should be helping you, especially when your life can be on the
line. Many deaf citizens have been wrongly arrested after calling 911, died in hospitals after they
withhold critical medical diagnosis , and even denied admission to medical school because the
school doesn t care to provide an interpreter; which mind you is a legal obligation. ( Deaf

James Cook Research Paper
James Cook transformed exploration with the use of modern technology to carry out his
explorations, specifically the use of navigation technology and even the use of mathematics.
Cook was a late bloomer in the age of exploration, but definitely made his mark, as he became
one of the most accomplished explorers of all time. Cook used the latest scientific methods and
techniques of cartography to chart his voyages to places such as Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand
and of course Hawaii. This led to more explorers from other countries following his lead in later
explorations during the 1700 s. The main reason Cook was put in the position to carry out these
three voyages was because of his known skills and ability to use this technology. Cook was... Show

He gained technical skills needed to make an effective explorer so he could continue to carry out
difficult explorations to un charted territories. He became accustomed and well off using a
sextant, chronometer and octant just to name a few. Cook further advanced the way explorers
navigate, stated in the text the contribution to the solution of the long standing and very grave
problem of calculating longitude was based upon the successful work of astronomers and
watchmakers his advancement of surveying and cartography gave scope for much greater
individuality (Price 6). Cook was one of the first to explore the Pacific and these technologies
had evolved over the years to where he relied heavily on them. Cook relied on them to configure
how much time and the distance it would take to sail to and from the various destinations. With
this introduction to this new technology, Cook could now always get back home without loosing
any crewman. Cook created many maps and to create accurate maps representing the explorations
he went on, it was important that latitude and longitude were accurately determined. Luckily for
Cook, navigators had been able to work out latitude accurately for centuries before him by
measuring the angle of the sun with a certain instruments, these being a backstaff or quadrant.
Longitude was certainly more difficult to measure accurately because it requires precise
standpoints of the time difference between points on the surface of the earth. On his first voyage,
Cook gathered accurate longitude measurements due to his navigational skills. Cook states, the
appearance of this Cape and Hermites Islands is represented in the last view in the chart which I
have drawn of this coast from our first making land unto Cape Horn in which is included Strait Le
Maire and part of Staten land (Price 23). Cook was one of the first to chart

entertainment experience for people of all ages starting out with short films and then moving into
full length motion pictures. Since its inception the Disney Company has grown into a worldwide
organization and is made up of four major areas. Those areas are studio entertainment, consumer

This idea was no different with the establishment of HKD. Aside from this worldwide perception
that Disney has HKD sought to bring visitors for other reasons as well. One of the main
strategies was to offer this experience at a very affordable rate. The price for a one day was
$295 in Hong Kong which is equivalent to $38 in the United States. Along with these low rates
there were also many special offers that were constantly available to visitors. These offers
included special rates for certain occasions, discounted rates for children and senior citizens and
the ability to purchase packages through travel agencies. In fact HKD encouraged the purchase of
tickets through travel agents and on their website. They limited the number tickets that were able
to be bought by walk up visitors to keep the wait to enter the park at a minimum. Another corporate
strategy was the emphasis that Disney put on their employees or cast member as they refer to them
as. Every employee that was hired was sent to the Walt DisneyPark in Orlando for training to get
accustomed to the expectations of a Walt Disney employee. Along with this extensive training each
employee was required to speak multiple languages in order to cater to all guests that may be
visiting the park. With that being said the corporate strategy for Disney, and specifically that of

The Bull At The Palace Of Minos Essay
INTRODUCTION
One of the most captivating tales from Ancient Greece is that of King Minos of Crete and the
Minotaur, a beast half man and half bull. This legend, immortalised by modern films, has its
origins in the Aegean, at a time when the bull held a special place in society.
During excavations near Heraklion in Crete in 1990, English archaeologist Sir Arthur
Evans unearthed a massive structure built by a sophisticated Bronze Age civilisation.
Evans identified this as the Palace of King Minos in the ancient city of Knossos, inhabited by
people he called the Minoans. Evans excavations at Knossos revealed an extensive body of
evidence for the Minoan civilisation, an analysis of which proves the bull to be a significant
motif depicted on a range of iconographical media. The Australian Museum s latest exhibition,
Minotaur: The Bull at the Palace of Minos draws on this evidence to present different
representations of the bull at Knossos, as well as to communicate the significance of the bull to the
Minoans. The blockbuster, which is expected to run from April September 2018 will showcase
over 100 objects from the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, as well as integrate innovative digital
technologies to provide visitors with enjoyable immersive experiences. The following report
provides a detailed overview of the exhibition, beginning with an explanation of its value, content
and layout, before moving on to outline the target audience and visitor experience on offer.

Japanese Imperial Expansion
The Japanese imperial expansion was a major cause of the battle in Singapore. In 1940, Japan
allied itself with the Axis powers and by 1941, Japan had effectively been engaged in a 10 year
campaign of expansion in East Asia in the quest for much needed resources, especially oil.
Before expanding further into South East Asia, Japan wanted to remove the threat of the US
Navy based at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This surprise attack was the beginning of war in the Pacific
on the 7th of December 1941. In just two bombings the Japanese had accomplished the sinking or
damaging of 21 American ships, destroyed 188 aircraft and damaged 159, killed nearly 2400
American military personnel and wounded over 1000 people (including civilians). This surprise
attack caused the fall of signore attack, uniting America to work for the Allied military victory, as

their way through the Malay jungle towards Singapore, with Japanese aircraft bombing
Singapore s key sites, at the same time. The British army was convinced the Japanese assault

quickly forced back by wave after wave of Japanese invaders. The Australians suffered many long

The Pros And Cons Of Breach Of Warranty
Everyday billions of consumers purchase products across the entire world. As natural consumers,
this is a way to buy things that are seen as beneficial for whatever the reason may be. This could
include benefitting one s health or well being or simply meeting personals wants and needs. In the
United States, buying and selling products is so common that many underlying factors of what
goes into the process go unnoticed, up until something goes wrong. As a consumer, you naturally
expect that what you are buying is 100% safe, secure, and authentic because most of the time this
is the case. However, for the times when something does go wrong, it is important to know the
legalities of product liability as both a producer and a consumer. Product liability is the legal

The term also covers a failure of a statement or agreement by a seller of property which is a part of
the contract of sale, when the truth of the statement is necessary to the validity of the contract
(USLegal, 2007). Breach of warranty claims come in two forms an express warranty or implied
warranty. An express warranty is one that is explicitly stated from the manufacturer or seller to the
consumer. Most express warranties are made in written statements, warning stickers, informational
tags, etc. Although, an advertisement or a product sample that demonstrates how the product is

Alabama always recruit the best of the best in each position. As of now, the Alabama Crimson
Tide has a true talent and crucial component to the team s output and that is the Sophomore
Quarterback, Jalen Hurts. Hurts can both throw and run the ball, offsetting the defense of the
opposing team. Jalen Hurts have agility and speed, and he seems unfazed from the pressure of
the opposing teams. His effectiveness affects the output of the entire offensive line and he has
shown that he is a top NFL prospect in such short time. The Tide also has top talented running
backs, that influence the offensive game. Alabama is more of a balanced team, in which if the
passing game was cut off by the opposing team, then the running backs could take the load off the
passing game and throw the defense off because of the balanced gameplay that is shown from the
Tide s offense. The Alabama Crimson Tide 2016 2017 season was a thing of beauty to watch as
Alabama had ongoing winning streak and when the world witnessed the Tide making the most non

Throughout The History Of Mankind, The Greatest Inventors
Throughout the history of mankind, the greatest inventors were the few who paved their own
roads to success and thought outside the box. Orville and Wilbur Wright were no exceptions to
this. In their quest for manned mechanical flight these two men would shock the world of flight
with their new provoking ideas. The wright brothers would go on to design the first sustainable
automated craft. The Wright brothers were arguably the greatest innovators of the 20th century
and would go on to transform man s dream of flying and have a long lasting effect on flying

brothers printing store did well for them they mostly dealt with advertisements and a few
newspapers here and there. Despite the success of the store they desired more than printing as it
became relatively boring to them. It wasn t the idea of printing that was so exciting it was
building the printing press that Orville enjoyed the most. In the 1890s bicycles were starting to
get very popular and Orville and Wilbur were infatuated with them. Orville went even as far

they would fix them up if needed. Most of the bikes they sold were bought from outside

Santa Ana Winds In Joan Didion s Santa Ana
In her article Santa Ana , Joan Didion explain how the Santa Ana winds affect human behavior.
While informing the reader with facts about the Santa Ana she demonstrates that the Santa Ana
winds cause people to act irritably, erratically and strangely and makes people become greatly
unhappy.
When describing the winds, Didion paints a somber and gloomy picture. There is something uneasy
in the Los Angeles air... some unnatural stillness, some tension, starts the article off with the image
of Los Angeles people in a sense of stillness or tense. Didion continues by explaining that the
uneasiness is because the Santa Ana winds have arrived. Through the pictures that Didion paints,
the reader begins to see the Santa Ana winds as an uncomfortable atmosphere. She then adds,
Blowing up sandstorms out along Route 66... we will see smoke back in the canyons, and hear
sirens in the night, further proving the uneasiness that comes with the somber image of Los
Angeles. The baby frets. The maid sulks, she adds, painting the distressing image of the effect that
the Santa Ana has on people. Didion, in trying to show the craziness associated with the Santa Ana

Personal Finance Impact
Personal finance is having a financial ability to make decisions and act on certain activities for
oneself. These decisions and activities can be from budgeting, saving, investing, handling debts
and mortgages, and much more. It is important for each individual to be able to manage their
money for their own future and understand how credit cards work, being able to get out of debt
such as student loans, and to be able to invest and save their finances. Economics has a huge
impact on how we spend and budget ourselves yet if we are not careful, we would be in a difficult

money can be a scary thought but in reality, it is fairly painless. We do not want to be in our

another 20 years of working but imagine if we all started at the age of our 20s. There would be
an extra 20 years added to our retirement or better yet, if we were smart with our investments,
then we could retire much earlier than expected. Let s say for instance that we invest about $10

we would have $3,295. Within 10 years, we would have $8,136. It is only investing $10 a week
but if we were to invest more imagine the outcome for the return. Investment is one of the most,
if not the most, effective way to get rich. 401k retirement plan is the most common way to retire.

dollars. That is a huge difference and one of the best ways to retire. Only

Family Dynamics In The United States
There are many different family dynamics in today s society. But what really makes a family?
Every definition found has defined family, in simple terms, as A father and a mother raising their
children together. However, not every family is like that. Most families are not like that at all.
Different aspects come into play in families such as divorce, death, and abandonment that can
redefine the familystructure, either for the better or for the worse. A family does not have to
consist of the traditional sense of the nuclear family, but rather a family can consist of friends, step
siblings, step parents, half siblings, or family members outside the immediate circle of parents and

With a favorable economy more children are being born hence family life revolves around
having more children and having more fun. Consider the post World War II baby boom as an

will result in healthier children than in a poor economy because of a lack of health care, clean
water, food. Also, healthy people tend to make more money than sick people. But what about the
economy of single mothers? Most western countries find that single mothers are more likely to be
poorer than a two parent household, especially if there are already two to three children. This
correlates back to the health of the children. A study was done examining eight different countries

economic status of single mother families in the United States is significantly below that in the

The Question of Universal Suffering and Salvation as...
Endo s Deep River opens up an unsettling encounter with the spiritual vision of India described
through the experience of five Japanese travelers from vastly different backgrounds each of whom
faces a troubling personal crisis. By exploring the depth of the human need to understand ourselves
and our purpose in life, Endo illuminates his appreciation of the workings of grace from a God
present in the sufferings of humanity. Endo delves deep into the human condition through his
characters that reflect the complex individuals and personalities we are. Endo examines the moral
dilemmas facing each character and portrays a clear picture of the river and its deep significance.

Endo s story creates a spiritual journey that moves us toward religious allegory but achieves its
strength through the turbulent waters of the Ganges. Even with the droppings of animals, a odor of
burning flesh, its color of milky tea, (Endo 107) and the dust of surrounding villages, the river
becomes a fruitful image to the reader.
Endo s descriptions of Indian customs from the Japanese viewpoint are evident, through the
Japanese travelers and also through the way he uses imagery to suggest a merging of the ancient
Japanese beliefs (Koshinto) with the Indian beliefs about the Ganges and his own Christian
beliefs. Koshinto lies at the core of Japanese sensibility and forms Japanese traditional lifestyle
(Mase Hasegawa 28). Each traveler or character is searching for a greater understanding, not
merely of the motivating force behind their behavior, but of a deeper nature. In doing so, they all
find themselves in direct confrontation with their own personal desires for spiritual rejuvenation.
They embark upon journeys toward greater self understanding where each is caught up in his own
process of individuation. The river is a recurrent site motif with ritual significance, providing an
idyllic destination.
Endo gives the River Ganges different metaphorical significances which we understand through the
cases of the five tourists; it is a balm for haunting memories, a remedy for loneliness, and a cure for
feelings of emptiness and worthlessness.

The Civil War And Emancipation
The Civil War, at first, was about slavery; however, the meaning of the war began to change, and
it began to be associated with healing. There were actually two main visions of the Civil War, and
Blight calls these twin goals and competing interests. One was to deal with the negative impacts,
which brought about a sense of healing. The second was regarding the emancipation of slaves. One
vision was about healing, while the other was about justice, and Blight notes this in the prologue
and states, Americans faced an overwhelming task after the Civil War and emancipation: how to
understand the tangled relationship between two profound ideas healing and justice (Blight,
Prologue, page 3). In addition, in part two of Blight s video... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He states, We never found an adequate way in this society to put healing and justice in a historical
balance (Blight, online resource). Only one had to win over the other, and the winner was healing.
He also says the same in Chapter 1; he concludes, But the new nation awaiting rebirth also had the
thought of black equality on one side, the knowledge of sectional reunion on the other side, and no
muse yet in the middle holding their hands (Blight, Chapter 1, page 30). Again, Blight s argument
is that it probably never even was possible for there to exist a balance between healing and justice.
Blight states in the prologue, Defeated white southerners and black former slaves faced each other
on the ground, seeing and knowing the awful chasm between their experiences, unaware that any
path would lead to their reconciliation (Blight, Prologue, page 3). The sacrificing of racial justice
was an inevitable cost of attempts to reconcile between the north and the south. An example of that
from Chapter 22 in Bailey is the Ku Klux Klan. Numerous whites disliked the success that blacks
were experiencing, so they formed the Ku Klux Klan. Members of the society instilled fear into
blacks in order to prevent them from voting. They used extreme violence, which, by the 1890s, led
to nearly the disenfranchisement of all blacks. Basically, because attempts to forge reconciliation

To begin with, just because a law is a law, that does not immediately make it right. There are
many cases throughout history that this is evident. One example of this is prevalent in the case
of Dred Scott v. Sandford. Before this case, in 1820, the government made an agreement called
the Missouri Compromise, which drew a line through the Louisiana Territory... All new states
and territories north of the line except Missouri would be free; everything south of the line
would be open to slavery (Morone and Kersh 153). Well, when Dred Scott, a slave, sued for
freedom his argument was ... he had been taken to live in a free territory before returning to
Missouri and that, as a result, he should be free (Morone and Kersh 153). Although in my opinion
his argument was valid, it was ruled that he could not be set free due to the fact that neither the
territories nor the federal government could confine slavery. In this civil rights case, slavery was
just reinforced and the government failed to protect individuals. Soon after this case, President
Abraham Lincoln is elected into office and he completely changes the definition of freedom in
America. Southern states were furious and started to withdrawal from the States and the Civil War
explodes. When the northern

one being used by many police chiefs all across the country. They believe that this approach to

Sociological Influences On Life
Every individual person in this world has many different sociological influences on their life. All
varying from education, religion, friends, and even the workplace. Some people may have a ton of
things that influence their lives and others may only have a few, all depending on that individual. In
my life particularly, the three biggest societal influences are education, family, and lastly my
extracurricular activities.
Education can be a huge part in some cultures, when it can also be a very small part in some
cultures. Our American culture education is huge. Kids spend their lives in school from when
they are four years old in preschool until they are 18 years as a senior in highschool. Those years
are all spent six hours a day five days a week throughout the year. After high school people have
the option to continue their education and go to college if they would prefer to. College may go
upwards to 12 more years depending on the degree that certain individual is pursuing. In our
American Culture it is bad if you don t have a college degree. People tend to think that people that
don t continue to go to college are not as intelligent when really they could be just as smart as
anyone else. There are well over 20 prominent nations, which continue to discriminate against
females by preventing them from learning. In these countries, gender inequality in education not

The Inspirational System Of The Respiratory System In The...
Research and Report: Module 1
The respiratory system is a very important organ system in the human body. Its purpose is to
transport oxygen to the blood where it can then move through the bloodstream to oxygenate all
parts of the human body. The organs in the respiratory system consist of the nasal cavity, pharynx,
larynx, trachea, bronchi, and lungs. Each organ plays an important role in respiration. The nasal
cavity is the organ through which oxygen enters the body. This is the most superiorly and
superficially located of the respiratory organs. Located posterior to the nose, the nasal cavity is a
hollow space inside the skull that is lined with hairs and mucus membranes that help filter
environmental contaminates, such as pollen and dust, out of the air before it moves to the next
organ, the pharynx. The pharynx is located inferiorly to the nasal cavity. The pharynx is a
muscular, tube shaped organ that allows air to travel through both the nasal cavity and the mouth
into the superior portion of the larynx. As the air makes its way to the next organ it must pass
through the epiglottis, which is a cartilage flap that protects from accidental inhalation of food and
liquids. The next organ is the larynx which is located inferiorly to the pharynx. This is a short tube
shaped organ that is primarily constructed of cartilage. The larynx houses the vocal folds which are
mucus membranes that vibrate at variable speeds while air is passing through to produce vocal
sounds.

Essay Intrusion Detection Systems
Intrusion Detection Systems
In 1980, James Anderson s paper, Computer Security Threat Monitoring and Surveillance, bore the
notion of intrusion detection. Through government funding and serious corporate interest allowed
for intrusion detection systems(IDS) to develope into their current state. So what exactly is IDS?
An IDS is used to detect malicious network traffic and computer usage through attack signatures.
The IDS watches for attacks not only from incoming internet traffic but also for attacks that
originate in the system. When a potential attack is detected the IDS logs the information and sends
an alert to the console. How the alert is detected and handled at is dependent on the type of IDS in
place. Through this paper we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With NIDS the system attempts to detect threats and attacks, such as denial of service attacks, port
scans and attempts to hack into computers by monitoring the network traffic in real time through a
promiscuous connection. It does so by first filtering out all known non malicious traffic and then
analyzing the remaining incoming packets for suspicious patterns that could be threats. It is not
however limited to just analyzing incoming packets, the system also analyzes the outgoing local
traffic, in case of an attack/threat that originates inside of the local network. Snort is an example of
this.
Host based intrusion detection systems unlike network intrusion detection systems, which focus on
a computing system s external interfaces, host based systems focus on the monitoring and
examination of the computing system s internals. Host based systems are more concerned with the
changes in state of a computing system. It detects these changes by analyzing system specific logs
either in real time or periodically. When there is any change in the logs the IDS will compare the
current configuration of the security policy to the changes and react accordingly. An example of
this would be tripwire.
Protocol based intrusion detection systems (PIDS) monitor the dynamic behavior and state of the
protocol. In a typical setup there is a system or agent sitting at the front end of the server. This agent
or system monitors the communication protocol between the

or a firm to get what they want. There is fear spreading from these kinds of people because they
are capable of hurting others. Which steps the freedom and security of the inferior. Creating more
fear to the society and the power of the state.
In the article Research on Corruption (A Policy Oriented Survey) of Jens Chr. Andvig and Odd
Helge Fieldstad et al., 2000, it is explained that extortion uses force or threat to extract monetary,
tangible and intangible materials. They corrupt using blackmailing and extortion to gain money

Means that they are not much to remove these mafias so that the economy would be better as

the rich people and gives it to the poor, to help them but in the case of mafias it s not like that. It
is taking and also scaring the firm or even government maybe, which is not helpful as well. They

Divorce In The Nineteenth Century
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the American courts that dealt with divorce cases and
broken marriages realized that there weren t many supported nor significant laws related to the
support of the dependents involved. America as you know, took many english laws they thought
important and useful and applied them in the early eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. These laws
found that the father had only a non enforceable moral duty to support his children. In fact, at one
time precedents actually forbid any third party from recovering the costs of support unless these
costs had been authorized prior, by a contract with the child s father. But these laws however, did
allow for a limited recovery of these costs in some circumstances.

It is stereotypically correct to say that pink is a girl s color, but that wasn t always so. The history
of how pink came to represent feminism started in WWII, it was up until then the men that were
dominantly wearing pink and were dominantly the gender that was employed. At that time, there
was a female equality/ feminist issue with women being barred into employment. Because of
WWII, most of the men in America were drafted out to war and women substituted in the absence
of men s labor. Accompanying that, women started to wear pink uniforms and aprons, including an
inspirational womanto women leader, Rosie the Riveter. This is an uprising merge of female labor
into the workforce (Stamberg, 2014). This generation started to associate the... Show more content

After making these changes the company declared themselves as the fastest growing wireless
company in the nation. If one takes these three marketing strategies and compare it to how women
are being targeted by retail, one will see that they are the same. According to the research done
by Time, there s a stronger emotional and personal connection to their mobile devices by
females. The key differences between men and woman in relation to their mobile devices is that
a woman is more engaged with her phone in a way that there is more fulfillment in getting
things done with her mobile device. The Un carrier movement is a solution primarily to
American females. The strategy of getting personal interactions with the customers is what
females prefer rather than taking to an automated help line. The second strategy of a faster data
service provides an expedited access for females to turn a passive time into an active time. For
instance, when a woman does her daily activities; there are some down time that she would rather
prefer to spend some time on her phone. This is the time that is referred to as the mobile device
is a substitute for a human engagement. T Mobile s third strategy on rebranding the company into
an edgy and highly differentiated market is definitely targeting women because on all of the
promotion and advertisements there is the color pink present. What s also associated with the
marketing materials are more of an alternative punk rock vibe. An electric guitar is playing in the
background and the color is used in a monochromatic theme, whereas the color pink is the only
color that is apparent. One thing that will be guaranteed in all the marketing materials since the Un
carrier would be the distinct shade of pink; which is magenta. This shade of pink is present in all of
the materials that target women. The Un carrier movement is a solution

Don t You Accuse Me
Don t you accuse me of that! You know it isn t true! Stop lying to me, to the team and to
yourself. The door slams, leaving the rest of us in a tense silence. Outside, the sun dims, casting
shadows on the tear stricken face of my friends. Through the thin, lifeless walls, we all hear the
continued argument. You know I was right. Stop defending her! Kendall screams at Stella and
Erica. I can imagine her face; the way her cheeks redden and her jaw clenches; the way her fists
clench together and her toes curl in her white converse. If you aren t going to take my side, then
get out. I don t want to hear it. I lean my head against the wall, my eyes puffy and red, thankful
for the soft light. Again, the door is forced open, and heavy steps echo through the room. The day
started normally. We woke up, had breakfast, went out and explored Gothenburg, Sweden, and just
hung out. My soccer team and I decided to start up a scrimmage with another team that was
attending the Youth World Cup; they agreed. We started the game, but then I left because it
started raining. My feet, soaked by rain, slosh up the stairs, leaving glistening footprints in their
wake. The thundering rain pounds against the thin windows, as if threatening to shatter them at
any moment. The burning sensation in my knees becomes more prominent as the weight of my
bags seem to increase. I force my head up and see the room I m staying in; a smile spreads across
my face and a groan escapes someone s lips

Informative Speech On Lung Cancer
I believe there is hope even through the worst type of situations. Most people don t know it or
feel it, but hope is hiding somewhere near you begging to come out. In many situations, people
cannot find their hope, but I assure you it s there. Quite a while ago my grandma, my dad s
mom, was told something that no family wants to hear. My grandmother, Connie Brooks, was
diagnosed with cancer. Lung cancer that is. Her second time having lung cancer and her third
time having cancer in total. I was having an attitude with my mother before she told me what
was happening with grandma, and once she told me I was beyond devastated. Why should I be
so self centered and rude to my family when we re at a time of crisis? I knew my grandma had
smoked in the past and it was a stupid mistake, but why did cancer have to pick her? I knew my
grandma could put up a really good fight, but with only one lung could she survive? Yes, with her
past lung cancer she lost one of her lungs, but she has been living more carefully ever since.
Connie Brooks is a selfless, confident, strong woman, and cancer chose the wrong woman and
family to mess with.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

into her room, and see her, I was so scared that she would be worse than the visit before. When
we didn t visit grandma and grandpa in the hospital, I would think of her all the time. I was
always so worried that there was a possibility that she wouldn t make it because cancer doesn t

The Power of Hips Presented in Lucille Clifton’s Homage to...
The Power of Hips
Hips are used as a symbol to reveal the power of a women body s. Hips are mighty, free, and
seductive. Hips are used for childbearing, only a female power. Lucille Clifton s, a supporter of
African Americans and feminism, believes that women have the same power as men. Anything men
can do women can do the same, even better. Lucille Clifton s Homage to My Hips rebuts the
division of labor mechanism instilled in our society that isn t politically correct; thereby taking a
powerful stance in her confident belief that woman can do the same as men.

She will not follow the rules society has set for her ethnically and physically. In The
Construction of Femininity, Race and Sexuality , the term feminist has a broader reach, it
describes a range of self determination and equality (Tyree 2). Being an African American
feminist in her time period was much more difficult than today. She had to face ignorant minds
and fight for her belief. Lucille Clifton praises her body that has made her independent. She
believes the only thing that sets a man off from a woman is her hips. She believed that women
should have the same rights as men, her hips should have not been held back. Women are
capable of performing the same tasks. Women are emotionally stronger than men as well.
Women were granted with a gift that no man could ever do, childbearing. Many look at it as not
a grand thing, but in fact the world is dependent on a woman. The speaker states that these hips
are magic hips (12) to show how they could help her get certain things from a male. Clifton
writes, i have known them to put a spell on a man and spin him like a top (13 15) to display how
her hips could possible attract a lover. Clifton strongly writes, They go where they want to go
emphasizing that a female should be able to live her dreams and aspirations. She bestows homage to
her hips for giving her individuality.
Without individuality, the world would be bland. We wouldn t be progressing as a community

Five Most Important Events in U.S. History
First thing that I chose for my project is, 9/11. This was a dark time for all of America at the
time. 9/11 took place November 11, 2001. It was organized by 19 al Qaeda terrorists. The terrorists
hijacked 4 commercial planes. Two of the four headed to the World Trade Center while the third
headed for the Pentagon. After learning the actions of the three planes, the fourth crash landed in an
empty field somewhere in Western Pennsylvania. This is considered the largest number of fatalities
that were caused by a foreign attack that happened on American soil which resulted in almost 3,000
deaths. When the people of America found out the events, millions went to help fight and protect
against anymore attacks. Next I chose the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan project was a project
that brought the world into the nuclear age/era. In the year 1939, we learned that German
physicians had learned the secret to splitting the uranium atom. This was extraordinary. When
Albert Einstein fled to America, he brought information about the German s capability to create a
bomb capable of mass destruction. Einstein was accompanied by Erico Fermi, who escaped fascist
Italy. The two thought they should tell President Roosevelt. They wrote a letter to him urge him to
establish an atomic research project. Roosevelt agreed but didn t want everyone to know about it.
He called it the Manhattan Project. The main facility they built was in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Economics Is The Fundamental Force
No matter who you are, economics is integral to everything you do. The decisions one makes as a
consumer, employee, and voter impact his or her life in multiple aspects, often in ways that are not
obvious. The allocation of resources by companies, the government, and other people can alter your
economic opportunities greatly, and thus it is essential to understand how the choices that not only
you, but everyone and everything else makes, will alter your future. Doing so can can greatly
enhance your economic opportunities, while not being aware, and making poor economic
decisions, can greatly diminish your future economic well being. Every choice you make involves
economic decision making, and will affect what opportunities you have later... Show more content

In turn, this will increase the demand for goods needed to make more cars, such as rubber and
metal. In addition, even more workers are hired to make cars (at least for a time), thus creating
even more jobs. In this way, your and everyone else s decision to consume cars has stimulated a
portion of the economy. Perhaps this stimulation results in an opportunity for you to gain a better
job, thus gaining you a higher wage, and raising your standard of living. This is entirely
hypothetical, yet plausible, scenario of how your contribution to the economy as a consumer could
enhance your economic opportunities. Your decision as a consumer can do more than stimulate the
growth of a business; it can contribute to the decline of one as well. For example, perhaps you
decide that you no longer wish to eat meat, and decide to go vegetarian. This may seem like a
relatively personal, and inconsequential decision, yet it is actually very influential. If a large
number of people decided to become vegetarian, the meat industry would take a direct hit:
obviously, there would be less meat demanded, and profits would decrease. Furthermore, as less
people demanded meat, the price would go down, as less people purchased meat and it became
harder to sell. Another effect this newfound vegetarianism would have is due to cross price
elasticity of meat and vegetables. As the demand of meats goes down, the price of vegetables and
grains would likely go up, as more are demanded.

Ginseng Essay
Ginseng is a popular medicinal herb used in various forms and for various purposes.
You might be wondering why ginseng has become so popular over the years and how it is useful.
The fact that it even priced above the level of gold in the past has bought us the question as to why
it was so valuable then.
The health benefits of ginseng has now been known to the human kind from over 7000 years.
So now here I will give you a complete gist of what ginseng tea is and what its health benefits are.
Ginseng is a plant with fleshy roots usually found in Eastern Asia and North America typically in
cooler climates. P. ginseng was discovered 5000 years ago in the mountains of Manchuria, China.

You just have to coat the shaved pieces of ginseng with honey and let it sit for 15 minutes later
soak them in hot boiling water for 10 minutes. Adding ginger tea or green tea will help lighten the

Ginseng tea has been the all time favorite of the Koreans as it is a medicinal herb. They have
used it for thousands of years and now Korea is the largest producer of ginseng in the world.
The active ingredient in ginseng is ginsenosides which is a unique compound found in the Panax
species. Asian and American ginseng contain different types and amounts of ginseng. The
ginsenoside profile also changes with the way the root is dried and the time it is harvested.
Panax group share some health benefits which we will look to in the following paragraphs.

The Common Types Of People
A very common thing for people of all ages to do is go online and try to find answers for their
symptoms. Sometimes they find answers to their questions or they find the solution to their
problem. Often times, however people research their symptoms and end up paranoid and scared
thinking there might be something seriously wrong with themselves. While some people feel the
need to find answers, others argue that the internetisn t always as reliable as people like to believe.
There are many reasons why people look up their symptom and there are three very common types
of people that research their health problems. The first type being the people that find good results
and end in relief. This is because they realize that the problems they re having aren t serious, or that
the solution to their problems is fairly easy to accomplish.
The second type is the people that have been diagnosed with an actual health problem and go online
to find answers to their question. Researching helps them to know what to expect. It may help
them regain a sense of control during a scary and sometimes helpless time (Weiser). For this type
of people knowing information whether it be good or bad, helps them to feel comfort.
The third and what I personally think is the most common type is those that don t have a lot of
knowledge on their health issues. They don t know how serious their problems really are, well
because they aren t doctors to really know. These are the type of people that google

Correlational Research
In my chosen field of school psychology, correlational research is a great research method in
order to build various support groups, interventions, and an overall warm school climate. One topic
that I am specifically interested in is the relation of self esteem and bullying. I would predict that
there would be a negative correlation between the two variables, as I believe that bullyingis
prominently done by those students whom have lower levels of self esteem.
Research Question: How is self esteem related to bullying?
I believe that this research question would be most supported by correlational research because
the results will allow me to see if there is a relationship between self esteem and bullying. If I find
that there is in fact a relationship, then I will have the ability to build programs within the school
that focus on self esteem in order to reduce, or stop, bullying from happening. To begin, I would
assign self esteem as the predictor variable and bullying as the outcome variable.
For this study, I would seek all students attending 3 different schools in the same city, or area. I
would want one school that reports very little bullying, a school that reports an average amount of
bullying, and one school that reports extreme amounts of bullying. I believe that the three different

collected using the Aggression Scale (Orpinas Frankowski, 2001). This is an 11 item self report
scale that assesses the frequency of teasing, pushing, or threatening others. Both scales are deemed
valid and reliable, thus I believe using each would result in valid and reliable

  • 2. Immortality In American Countries and ethics and disrupt the peace of governments, immortality is not desirable from ethical and sociocultural perspectives. Since the desire of immortality may cause economic problems for both people and countries, this idea must be given up immediately. Currently, one of the global issues that governments are striving is that the older generations become predominant numerically in the societies. Even though Japan, Australia or Scandinavian countries are the most developed places in the world, the main obstacle in front of the growth of these countries is the economic problems of having older populations ( Population Challenges and Development Goals , 2005). When looking at the global economy as a whole, it becomes very ostensible that the majority of people living in poverty is women and children. All over the world millions of women and children are living in poverty. Whether we are looking at a developed country or a less developed country, it is adamant. Extremes differ around the world but for fact in developed and developing countries the amount of women living in poverty is adamant. Looking at the developing countries Canada and India provides different ways of looking at poverty and how poverty is identified. Through Canada women deal with poverty when their income is below the poverty line or they are using over half of their income on necessities to live. In India women are encountering human poverty, which is being without basic needs creating factors such as illiteracy, malnutrition, early death, poor health care and no access to clean water. Despite some differences between the two countries economies, women in both Canada and India face similar issues with poverty The poverty of women in Canada and India is increasing as a result of globalization, social policies that neglect women, inequality in employment, and existing gender based social repression (Argiropoulos and Rajagopal 2003:612). The inequality of employment is a major cause of poverty, once women have to enter the workforce an increase in feminization in the workforce has taken place. • 4. Cameron Auto Part Essay Please read Cameron Auto Parts Part (A) and answer those three guideline questions: 1.Should Cameron have licensed McTaggart or continued to export? After I read this case, I can say that exporting is more profitable to Cameron because they can do whatever they want at any time. This means that Cameron can earn the profit that it deserves, and it will be only to itself. In other words, if Cameron continues exporting, it can maintain its independence to manage better quality products at its own responsibility. Then, in the other side, the cost advantages will be higher because of the results of the size of the operation and the cost of the unit; what it is a benefit because in a long term the economies of scale will work to determine better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Was McTaggart a good choice for licensee? Yes, McTaggart was a good choice for license because it will help to make easier implementations. The reason of this is that McTaggart reduces the financial risk that exporting could involve. Another point is that as Cameron does not have the resources to capture foreign markets, McTaggart will do it for less. Finally, Cameron will have patented its process. As well, it is important to mention that McTaggart has excellent credit score and a reputation of 130 years as a family business that will operate the average factory wage rate for less than in America. McTaggart will be looking to push sales in United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and India, and with its actual clients. 3.Was the royalty rate reasonable? Did Cameron leave money on the table? The royalty rate was too low and it left money on the table. The reason is that if they would have decided for a higher rate, McTaggart could earn more benefit of it in the case of receive equipment and training, as it said in the case that it was needed, and Cameron will receive more money because of the sales that McTaggart could do. This is because McTaggart is already positioned and it has the product in demand just for sale, and it will help Cameron to save money in duty, freight and insurance because of the licensing that it will ... • 7. Hidden Reasons for Kodak s Digital Revolution Essay Kodak and the Digital Revolution: Case Analysis Since the early 1880 s, Kodak had proven themselves to be great innovators and had worked on building their brand on a domestic and international front. They invested heavily in marketing to establish their image and realized early on that their profits would come from consumables rather than hardware. They sold their equipment at low prices in order to fuel their highly profitable film sales. This use of a razor blade strategy, coupled with strong relationships with retailers positioned Kodak as an industry leader. Additionally, their heavy investment in R amp;D allowed Kodak to grow organically, proving fruitful with the advent of color film. Thus, Kodak s expertise in color film ... Kodak clearly realized that the Mavica had the potential to greatly alter the landscape of its industry. Kodak acknowledged this occurrence as a major paradigm shift; however, due to the escalating commitment and its deep roots in traditional photography, Kodak failed to react accordingly. Kodak s CEO at the time, Colby Chandler, outwardly recognized the public s affinity for color prints the product that made Kodak a household name. Yet, others at Kodak went as far as to make doomsday predictions. Some managers within Kodak felt that the inception of the Mavica would be the death of traditional photography. In the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show, where Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake shared the stage, an incident occurred at the end of their performance. With this the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Electronic Privacy Information Center and cyber space groups challenged the act under the violation of the First Amendment (Hull, 1999, p.33). Also, it prevents adults to receive any sexual content they want to access. With these allegations, the Ninth District Court allowed an injunction of the act in February of 1999 against its enforcement. As a result, the court argued that there were less restrictive ways to reduce freedom of speech, subsequently using filters or blocking certain keywords without denying adults the access of sexual content. The argument was that filters can do what COPA could not. This method can also filter pornography not only in USA but around the world. These filters would give parents the power to monitor their children s activity in the internet. It was also required of school and public libraries to use these filters to prevent any indecency to children (Paxton, 2008, p.108). Although the act was not enforced completely, the Supreme Court did allow one of part of the act to pass, giving Congress the power to regulate the internet through the use of ... It is in the midst of this savagery and unrelenting danger that mankind confronts the brooding nature of his inner self. Joseph Conrad s novel, Heart of Darkness, is the story of one man s insight into life as he embarks on a voyage to the edges of the world. Here, he meets the bitter, yet enlightening forces that eventually shape his outlook on lifeand his own individuality. This is expressed at both the start and the end of the novel. The light of Marlow, and his subsequent psychological awareness and evolution, is contrasted by Kurtz, who, as many have expressed, may represent the dark half of Marlow. Marlow s journey leads him in an urgent search for Kurtz, the one man who can provide him with the truth about himself. Like Marlow, Kurtz came to the Congo in hopes to bring light and civilization to a backwards society. He is a highly educated, refined gentlemen; yet, in the end, the brutal nature of the Congo forces him to resort to the life of a murderer and pilferer. The name Kurtz itself has symbolic meaning. The physical shortness in Kurtz implies a shortness of character and spirit (Heart of Darkness: A systematic evaluation). Marlow and Kurtz both symbolize the two conditions of human nature. Kurtz represents what man could become if left to his own intrinsic devices outside protective society. Marlow represents a pure untainted civilized soul who has not been drawn to savagery by a dark, alienated jungle. (Heart of Darkness: A systematic evaluation). • 10. The World s Biggest Fan Essay Sophie Rouse 11/3/17 Per. 3 The World s Biggest Fan Can you imagine what would happen if all the ice on our planet melted? According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, about 15 million square miles of land are covered by ice, which means that 10 percent of the land on Earth is ice. If all the ice were to melt, sea levels would rise about 200 feet, and coastal cities would be completely submerged underwater. Billions of people would be homeless, and the habitats and lives of wildlife would be doomed. Plus, Earth s weather patterns would go through massive changes, and salt water would pollute freshwater aquifers, affecting drinking water and crops. The question now is not if this will happen, but when. Since the beginning of time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These suggestions however are outrageous and impossible for everyday people to do. It s unbelievable that scientists would even consider these solutions. That is why I have proposed that we set up fans everywhere we can. By setting up fans everywhere we can, the cold air produced will cool down Earth s temperatures and reverse the process of global warming. If this plan is implemented, then climate change will be a thing of the past. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, a fan is an apparatus with rotating blades that creates a current of air for cooling or ventilation . They are powered by a motor and work by moving the air in front of the fan. This movement creates a breeze and chills the area. In the summertime, my grandma uses a fan when her room gets too warm. Why can t we apply this logic to combat the global warming of this room we call Earth? There are many options to utilize the power of fans. One option is to set up enormous fans along the coastlines. Every major city on the coastline will have a giant fan. They will install the fan onto a dock and will constantly have it blowing, even in the wintertime. If the average fan is 16 inches and has a wind speed of 7.2 meters/seconds, then a fan 10,000 times the size of an average fan will generate a wind speed of 72,000 m/s. Scientist Matthew Jones says, that the combined amount of wind speed from every city will be enough to drop Earth s temperature by 0.5п‚° F. Although people may argue ... James Cook Research Paper James Cook transformed exploration with the use of modern technology to carry out his explorations, specifically the use of navigation technology and even the use of mathematics. Cook was a late bloomer in the age of exploration, but definitely made his mark, as he became one of the most accomplished explorers of all time. Cook used the latest scientific methods and techniques of cartography to chart his voyages to places such as Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand and of course Hawaii. This led to more explorers from other countries following his lead in later explorations during the 1700 s. He gained technical skills needed to make an effective explorer so he could continue to carry out difficult explorations to un charted territories. He became accustomed and well off using a sextant, chronometer and octant just to name a few. Cook further advanced the way explorers navigate, stated in the text the contribution to the solution of the long standing and very grave problem of calculating longitude was based upon the successful work of astronomers and watchmakers his advancement of surveying and cartography gave scope for much greater individuality (Price 6). Cook was one of the first to explore the Pacific and these technologies had evolved over the years to where he relied heavily on them. Cook relied on them to configure how much time and the distance it would take to sail to and from the various destinations. With this introduction to this new technology, Cook could now always get back home without loosing any crewman. Cook created many maps and to create accurate maps representing the explorations he went on, it was important that latitude and longitude were accurately determined. Luckily for Cook, navigators had been able to work out latitude accurately for centuries before him by measuring the angle of the sun with a certain instruments, these being a backstaff or quadrant. Longitude was certainly more difficult to measure accurately because it requires precise standpoints of the time difference between points on the surface of the earth. On his first voyage, Cook gathered accurate longitude measurements due to his navigational skills. Cook states, the appearance of this Cape and Hermites Islands is represented in the last view in the chart which I have drawn of this coast from our first making land unto Cape Horn in which is included Strait Le Maire and part of Staten land (Price 23). Along with these low rates there were also many special offers that were constantly available to visitors. • 16. The Bull At The Palace Of Minos Essay INTRODUCTION One of the most captivating tales from Ancient Greece is that of King Minos of Crete and the Minotaur, a beast half man and half bull. This legend, immortalised by modern films, has its origins in the Aegean, at a time when the bull held a special place in society. During excavations near Heraklion in Crete in 1990, English archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans unearthed a massive structure built by a sophisticated Bronze Age civilisation. Evans identified this as the Palace of King Minos in the ancient city of Knossos, inhabited by people he called the Minoans. Evans excavations at Knossos revealed an extensive body of evidence for the Minoan civilisation, an analysis of which proves the bull to be a significant motif depicted on a range of iconographical media. The Australian Museum s latest exhibition, Minotaur: The Bull at the Palace of Minos draws on this evidence to present different representations of the bull at Knossos, as well as to communicate the significance of the bull to the Minoans. The blockbuster, which is expected to run from April September 2018 will showcase over 100 objects from the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, as well as integrate innovative digital technologies to provide visitors with enjoyable immersive experiences. Even with the droppings of animals, a odor of burning flesh, its color of milky tea, (Endo 107) and the dust of surrounding villages, the river becomes a fruitful image to the reader. Endo s descriptions of Indian customs from the Japanese viewpoint are evident, through the Japanese travelers and also through the way he uses imagery to suggest a merging of the ancient Japanese beliefs (Koshinto) with the Indian beliefs about the Ganges and his own Christian beliefs. Koshinto lies at the core of Japanese sensibility and forms Japanese traditional lifestyle (Mase Hasegawa 28). Some people may have a ton of things that influence their lives and others may only have a few, all depending on that individual. In my life particularly, the three biggest societal influences are education, family, and lastly my extracurricular activities. • 37. The Inspirational System Of The Respiratory System In The... Research and Report: Module 1 The respiratory system is a very important organ system in the human body. Its purpose is to transport oxygen to the blood where it can then move through the bloodstream to oxygenate all parts of the human body. The organs in the respiratory system consist of the nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, and lungs. Each organ plays an important role in respiration. The nasal cavity is the organ through which oxygen enters the body. This is the most superiorly and superficially located of the respiratory organs. Located posterior to the nose, the nasal cavity is a hollow space inside the skull that is lined with hairs and mucus membranes that help filter environmental contaminates, such as pollen and dust, out of the air before it moves to the next organ, the pharynx. The pharynx is located inferiorly to the nasal cavity. The pharynx is a muscular, tube shaped organ that allows air to travel through both the nasal cavity and the mouth into the superior portion of the larynx. As the air makes its way to the next organ it must pass through the epiglottis, which is a cartilage flap that protects from accidental inhalation of food and liquids. The next organ is the larynx which is located inferiorly to the pharynx. This is a short tube shaped organ that is primarily constructed of cartilage. The larynx houses the vocal folds which are mucus membranes that vibrate at variable speeds while air is passing through to produce vocal sounds. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through government funding and serious corporate interest allowed for intrusion detection systems(IDS) to develope into their current state. So what exactly is IDS? An IDS is used to detect malicious network traffic and computer usage through attack signatures. The IDS watches for attacks not only from incoming internet traffic but also for attacks that originate in the system. When a potential attack is detected the IDS logs the information and sends an alert to the console. How the alert is detected and handled at is dependent on the type of IDS in place. With NIDS the system attempts to detect threats and attacks, such as denial of service attacks, port scans and attempts to hack into computers by monitoring the network traffic in real time through a promiscuous connection. It does so by first filtering out all known non malicious traffic and then analyzing the remaining incoming packets for suspicious patterns that could be threats. It is not however limited to just analyzing incoming packets, the system also analyzes the outgoing local traffic, in case of an attack/threat that originates inside of the local network. Snort is an example of this. Host based intrusion detection systems unlike network intrusion detection systems, which focus on a computing system s external interfaces, host based systems focus on the monitoring and examination of the computing system s internals. Host based systems are more concerned with the changes in state of a computing system. It detects these changes by analyzing system specific logs either in real time or periodically. When there is any change in the logs the IDS will compare the current configuration of the security policy to the changes and react accordingly. An example of this would be tripwire. Perhaps this stimulation results in an opportunity for you to gain a better job, thus gaining you a higher wage, and raising your standard of living. This is entirely hypothetical, yet plausible, scenario of how your contribution to the economy as a consumer could enhance your economic opportunities. For example, perhaps you decide that you no longer wish to eat meat, and decide to go vegetarian. This may seem like a relatively personal, and inconsequential decision, yet it is actually very influential. If a large number of people decided to become vegetarian, the meat industry would take a direct hit: obviously, there would be less meat demanded, and profits would decrease. Furthermore, as less people demanded meat, the price would go down, as less people purchased meat and it became harder to sell. Another effect this newfound vegetarianism would have is due to cross price elasticity of meat and vegetables.
