Opioid Drug Problem
More than 30,000 people are dying every year from Opioid drug addiction. (Katel833). That means
they are leaving behind 30,000 families grieving and at least another 30,000 people they may have
introduced to the addiction of the drugs each year. Opioids drug are a very serious matter that goes
around daily without being noticed. Although some precautions have not been a total fail, recent
epidemic shows the problems with the Opioid drug addiction is bigger than what we can handle and
cannot simply curb the epidemic. There have been precautions made in the past to decrease the rise of
Opioids and other harmful drugs, but nothing has made a big enough impact for it to matter. Congress
has created a Special drug law enforcement agency in the year 1930 to help enforce the drug laws, and
decrease the amount of drugs being imported into the U.S. This Agency was called The Federal
Bureau of Narcotics . (Katel 826) Opioids still find a way to take precious lives, as well as illegal
drugs themselves. Nothing has been done to actually put a stop to this crisis, and until the Government
opens their eyes to the harm of this crisis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other measures have been taken to ensure that the Opioid crisis is taken care of, such as Drug Control
Advocates who began working to ban all non medicinal narcotics use. (Katel826). After solving
disputes with pharmaceuticals makers and druggists, Congress also passed the Harrison act of 1914,
the first federal law to regulate Opioids and other drugs. (Katel826) With the many actions taken to try
to put an end to this Opioid crisis, nothing seems to make any drastic change. All the bans, acts, other
precautions constantly are needing to be reevaluated or changed to try to keep up with the Opioid
problem. With an unstable solution, the crisis will always be

Drake Equation Research Paper
The Drake Equation is used to estimate of the rate at which stars are born in the galaxy, the fraction of
stars with planets, and the fraction of those planets on which life could originate, and so on. Although,
by those calculations, there should be about 10,000 civilizations in our galaxy capable of interstellar
communication. So, where are all the aliens? Extraterrestrial intelligence must exist somewhere in the
universe, but we might not be able to communicate with each other because of complications such as
different forms of communication, huge distances between each other, and/or they don t want to talk
back.
In today s society, programs backed by private sources of funding (nonprofit), such as SETI (Search

It s reasonable to assume that how we re trying to communicate with possible extraterrestrial
intelligence may not be how they communicate, resulting in us believing no one is listening. It is
possible that our means of communication are primitive in comparison, and that our logic may be
vastly different than theirs. For example, if you were to send morse code in the hopes of someone
responding, it s mostly that no one is going to respond, let alone even notice it. Secondly, we may
have not been looking in the right places either. A prime reason for this is that we really don t know
where to look in the first place. We have ideas, but nothing concrete whatsoever. Another reason may
just be that we haven t had enough time yet, as we can only send messages so quickly, in so many
different directions to cover a possible infinite space across the

Hormone Replacement Therapy Essay
Hormone Replacement Therapy in Transgendering the FTM Transsexual
Gender may well be the most defining factor in the spectrum of elements that comprise the human
persona. In fact gender is so basic to our identity, most people mistakenly assume that our sense of
being male or female is defined with absolute certainty by our anatomical sex. Contrary to popular
belief, our sense of gender and anatomical sex are two distinct elements; each developing at different
times in different parts of the body. While my research is limited to hormone replacement therapy
involved in masculinizing a biological female, it should be noted that the psychiatric, psychological,
and medical factors that contribute to cases of gender dysforia are major ... Show more content on

Overview of Hormone Replacement Therapy for the FTM Transexual
Fundamental to sex reassignment treatment of transsexuals is the acquisition of the sex characteristics
of the other sex to the fullest extent possible. With the exception of the internal and external genitalia,
sex characteristics are contingent of the biological effects of the respective sex steroids. Hormonal
reassignment has therefore two aims: 1) to eliminate, in so far as possible, the hormonally induced
secondary sex characteristics of the natal sex and 2) to induce those of the new sex.
Biologic females treated with testosterone experience the following permanent changes: a deepening
of the voice, clitoral enlargement, mild breast atrophy, increased facial and body hair and male pattern
baldness. Reversible changes include increased upper body strength, weight gain, increased social and
sexual interest and arousability, and decreased hip mass.
Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT)
Hormones are long range chemical messengers of the body, manufactured and controlled by the
endocrine system. The hypothalamus produces gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH). This signals
the anterior pituitary gland to synthesize and release luteinizing hormone (LH). To a lesser degree,
GnRH also triggers the synthesis and release of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). Subsequently, LH
and FSH signal the gonads (ovaries in females, testes in males) to synthesize and release hormones
that cause

Remembering September 11, 2001
September 11, 2001 is a date in history that changed the lives of people from all over the world and
especially the lives of Americans. On this day nineteen militant men associated with al Qaeda, an
Islamic extremist group, hijacked four airplanes and carried out multiple suicide attacks on different
locations in the United States. Two of the planes directly struck the World Trade Center located in
New York City, one of the other two planes hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the final plane
crashed in a field in Pennsylvania before it could reach its final destination. On this day, more than
3,000 people were killed including over 400 first responding police officers and firefighters. In recent
years as people look back on that day it is remembered as a time when the country was joined together
by grief and showed an overwhelming amount of comfort and support to the victims and their
families; it was also a time of extreme national pride. People also remember that following the attacks
the economy suffered tremendously, in addition, air traffic which makes up a portion of the economy
was greatly disrupted, both of which created uncertainty about the security of the financial markets
critical to the success of the United States. What most people do not remember is the immediate
backlash and hostility the Muslim and Arab communities received following the attacks by both
civilians and the media. This is a topic that has been largely ignored by the public and media s

Drunk driving can be easily stopped. Alcohol is a poison that alters your mind in a negative way, and
when you try to drive while under the influence it can be dangerous to you as well as the world. When
people drink and drive, they can t focus and can easily crash, this can hurt the person who is drinking
and driving as well as any passengers in the car and also innocent people around. The way to stop
drunk driving is simple, stop drinking, and if you re going to drink make sure you drink in a safe
environment or have a safe way to get home. Another easy way to prevent drunk driving is to put the
bottle down and not drink at all. Drinking alcohol has many negative effects on the brain as well as the
body and kills millions every year just in America. Alcohol can be addictive and can change the user s
life in a negative way forever, and it will alter your mind to make many bad choices you will regret
later (like drunk driving). Don t let alcohol ruin your life, and don t let it accidentally ruin an innocent

How Did Diophantus Contribute To Algebra
Diophantus was exceptional mathematician born between the the years of 200 and 214 BC.the area in
which he spent most of his life was Alexandria .at the time Alexandria was going through the silber
age in which it was the center of much greek culture and knowledge. As great of a mathematicain in
which he was ,not much information is regarded towards his own personal life only thing known about
him was interpreted in the form of mathematical puzzle which describes his life in his years
throughout his life. The contributions in which Diophantus made to mathematics was exceptional in
his time but one of his major works is Arithmetika ,which is said to have the most influence to algebra
in the history of greek.earning him the title as the Father of Algebra. These series of books greatly
influenced the development of the number theory.Arithmetica contained a total of 13 books which in
total had at least an average of 130 problems which gave solutions to determinate equations or in his
era would be called diophantine equations.this of course was only a small stepping stone to a person

Essay on Logical, Ethical, and Emotional Argumentation
Many people and organizations use writing and visual methods to persuade readers to their view. In
such pieces, the author will use many different tricks and appeals in order to draw the reader to his or
her train of thought. According to Andrea Lunsford in her instructional book The Everyday Writer,
these appeals can be broken down into three main types logical, emotional and ethical. A logical
argument uses facts, statistics and surveys to back up what the author is saying and is commonly
referred to as logos. An ethical argument is one that tries to build up the authors characters and prove
to the reader that the author is qualified to give his or her views on the topic at hand. Ethical
arguments are commonly called ethos. Finally, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, the argument uses pathos to play on the human fear of torture and sway the reader with no
real logical backing. She uses quotes and phrases like [torture] endangers our soldiers on the
battlefield and damage[s] our country s image, calling on the sense of patriotism throughout America
to turn the people against torture. Applebaum even goes so far as to throw out the baseless conjecture
the use of special methods might help explain why the war is going so badly (Applebaum 37). This
appeal to emotion tries to sway the reader against torture by making the assumption that there is some
connection between the use of torture and the effectiveness of enemy soldiers a great example of the
use of pathos to mislead readers. Just as The Torture Myth relied mainly on pathos and scattered logos,
the 2011 Louisiana Life March Promo Video (Louisiana March for Life,) a promotional video for an
anti abortion march on the Louisiana State Capitol building, relies on the same argumentative appeals.
The list of sponsors appearing at the end of the promotional video provides the only ethical appeal for
the argument. This appeal, though taking up just a fraction of the runtime, can be the difference
between gathering just hundreds of supporters for a cause and gathering tens of thousands of
supporters. The video provided one logical appeal in the statement, Since 1973, nearly 500,000

The Importance Of The Battle Of Bunker Hill
On the date of June 17, 1775, in the early part of the Revolutionary War was the Battle of Bunker Hill.
During this battle the British defeated the Americans, even though the Americans lost, they gained
more hope and confidence, because they saw how much damage they had done to the British army.
The Battle of Bunker Hill was one of the most important battles in the American Revolution, because
of how the British army suffered many losses and how the Americans had so much passion into
getting their independence. On June 16, 1775, the Americans had just learned the British were sending
troops to Boston, to surround the hill which had up to one thousand colonial militiamen. At first they

Comparing Odyssey And Siren Song
In an excerpt from Homer s The Odyssey and Siren Song by Margaret Atwood, the speaker s point of
view shapes the portrayal of the alluring and dangerous aspects of the Sirens.
In Atwood s poem, the Sirens are described as alluring from one Siren s point of view due to their
knowledge of how to appeal to men s desires to be heroic, while in Homer s excerpt, Odysseus point
of view believes that the Sirens are appealing solely to him. For example, Odysseus describes the
Siren s voices as honeyed, and to add to the image, pouring from their lips . Honey is generally sweet,
but can also be sticky, resembling the Siren s tactics attempting to lure men in. In the same excerpt,
Odysseus recalls the Sirens call as famous Odysseus, Achaea s

The Disadvantages Of Small Farming In The United States
Food that are high in sugar and fat are, in many ways addictive Nadine Burke. Framers depend on the
outcome of the products because that s what helps them provide for their families. There are many
disadvantage of the small farms decreasing in the United States in our modern time.
Small farms has difficulty selling their products to bigger food companies. For example, supermarket
chain like Whole Foods or Walmart are not set up to do business with dozen of small family owned
farms (41). In other words, small farms are loosing money because their product are not getting sold.
Unlike larger farms they get contracted because it doesn t cost as much than a small family owned

easier for one farmer to handle (39). This makes it easier for farmers to work with less people and

to raise five hundred acres of industrial corn. So the farms have gotten bigger, but fewer people live in
them (39). In other words, this helps farmers produce their product faster and with the help of fewer
people, which means farmers don t have to worry about feeding more people. Although, this might

How Did Maria Change In The Little White Horse

Maria Merryweather is a thirteen year old girl who lived in London all her life. She was considered
plain, had sliver gray eyes, reddish hair and freckles. Maria was one of your true aristocrat; the
perfection of the hidden things was even more important to her than the outward show. Not that she
did not like the outward show. She did. She was a very showy little thing (Goudge,8). Maria s mother

Beethoven 5th Symphony Essay
Symphony No.5 in C minor, ensembles work by German composer Ludwig Van Beethoven. Generally
perceived by the unfavorable four note opening theme frequently translated as the musical appearance
of fate knocking at the door.
This hard hitting piece included flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons, horns, trumpets, timpani, and
groups of violins, piccolo, contrabassoon, and trombones. The rhythm of the 5th symphony was very
important. Beethoven created a tempo allegro con brio (fast with spirit). I think him doing this worked
well with this piece and made it that much more creative. As for the tone color, that s a hard one.
There is no overall tone color for the whole symphony. The harmony was mainly minor mode. The
notes were very present and it got easier to hear and notice the instruments once I listened to the
symphony a few times. I feel like Beethoven s motive was the basic four note motive he introduced.
Seems like he really took his time with this piece. He created the 5th symphony ... Show more content

Portrayal Of A Multicultural Mindset On A Global And Local...
Stop with the judging There are many factors that contribute to the overall lack of a multicultural
mindset on a global and local scale. A lot of people like to be separated from those who are not like
them, either in the socioeconomic spectrum, the racial spectrum, the way they live or simply the
human experience overall. Humans tend to judge those who are different than them, showing a lack of
understanding of a variety of culture or the disparities that makes each human different. A reality that
is portrayed throughout all the movies in the class. For example, in the movie First Blood, John
Rambo, the main character in the film, is often judged and mistreated by others in the movie, simply
because of his military background and the differences he has with them (Kotcheff, First Blood).
There are multiple examples of these type of behavior throughout all the movies.
Lack of understanding In the United States, being homeless is becoming a common occurrence, even
among college students. In the movie The Human Experience, the documentarians were able to
experience what is like to be homeless in New York City (Kinnane, The Human Experience). They
were able to realize how different these people truly are compared to the preconceived notion humans
have on those who are homeless. They didn t choose to be homeless, it was certain circumstances,
which are different from everyone, that resulted in them being without proper shelter. The movie was
able to demonstrate that having

The Basic Concepts Of Ilp
Introduction Instruction level parallelism(or we call it ILP) is a form of parallel operation or
calculation which allows program to perform multiple instructions at one time. Thus it is also a
measurement to describe the amount of instruction per unit time.We will explore the LIP from an
overall view to the several specific methods to exploit it. ILP is a measure of how many of the
instructions in a computer program can be executed simultaneously. When exploiting instruction level
parallelism, goal is to maximize CPI. As for how much ILP exists in programs is very application
specific. In certain fields, like graphics and scientific computing the amount can be very large while
workloads such as cryptography may exhibit much less parallelism. Micro architectural techniques
that are used to exploit ILP include instruction pipelining, superscalar execution, register renaming,
and so on. This paper will first access the basic concepts of ILP by exploring the ways of handling
data, including the controlling data dependence and data hazards. Then we will talk about ways of how
to expose ILP using pipelining and loop scheduling in compiler(the ways to speed up instruction
operation). Additionally, we will discuss the details of dealing with data hazards by dynamic
scheduling (allow execution before control dependence is solved) by using the examples of Tomasulo
s algorithm and explain the different types of branch prediction(choose which instruction to be
executed). Next we will

Jean Twenge Generation Me
How many times has your phone gone off in a period of an hour? In today s interconnected world
where posting a selfie can be done in seconds, it is not difficult to see why Jean Twenge, author of
Generation Me, and other critics of Millennial behavior could see them as being narcissistic. Looking
at social media networks, the average number of selfies posted or status updates on even the most
mundane daily activities is remarkable. Are these true signs of a rise in narcissism in today s youth or
just normal self expression made possible through technology? For the purpose of this essay we will

First let s look at the definition of narcissism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pointing out that much of the volunteering that is done by millennials is not coming from within, but
is mostly attributed to the fact that colleges take community service into consideration for admission
and more high schools are making it a requirement for graduation. This is taking a small sample of the
millennial population and not looking at the whole. According to William Strauss and Neil Howe,
authors of Will the Real Gen Y Please Stand Up , A healthy civic indicator is the boom in youth
volunteering, a finding the Egos study discounts because so many high schools require community
service. But other indicators point to the same positive trend. Voting rates for Americans 25 and
younger have surged since the late 1990 s. According to the UCLA College Freshman survey, 76% of
new college arrivals, a record high, now say that raising a family is a very important goal and a record
low, only 27%, agree that realistically, there is little an individual can do to change society. Therefore
argument can be made that millennials are far more civic minded than previous generations which has
been evident in the last two presidential elections. The fact is millennials are a generation who believe
that they can change the world and are actively trying to do

Summary Of Pirates Of Barbary By Adrian Tinniswood

Reading Review of Pirates of Barbary
The Book is written by Adrian Tinniswood. Before I read the book I think pirates are rude and violent
men, after I read the book I think pirates can be romantic and living for pirates can be jolly. There is
always piracy on the sea since the days of commerce. Through the history of Europe, especially in the
seventeenth century, piracy become a part of European history. The pirates seemed mysterious. Even
in this wonderful book, there are not many part describes the pirates, it counties to be mysterious. I
think it leaves room for reader s imagination.
The geographical area in which piracy took place was mainly the Mediterranean. Barbary piracy
became a very threatening thing. There were many Muslim pirates attacked ships, enslaved crews,
plundered cargoes and held numerous captives in their respective areas or countries, but it was done
by the Muslims, there were even Christians engaged in this event as well. That time they didn t have

Performance Based Strategy
Performance based pay strategy is a variable pay system which is intended to increase employee
productivity by rewarding employees based on their performance rather than paying based on the time
that an employee spends at work (Wisegeek). Due to the fact that performance based employees have
a vested interest in the success of the company their productivity is likely to improve which can lead
to the need for fewer employees to maintain production levels leading to a reduction in labor costs to
the employer. Studies have shown that time based employees only produce 50 to 60 percent of the
output of performance based employees (Atchinson).
Performance based pay plans are becoming increasingly utilized by companies across all industries as
they try to improve their productivity while limiting their costs and remaining competitive. An
effective performance based plan allows an employer to distribute some of the financial risk and
rewards of the business to the employees. The employer can keep base pay compensation below the
market average while still offering employees the opportunity to make more money than what is
offered at the high end of the market pay range. This leaves the employer less vulnerable to
fluctuations in the economic environment by lowering the fixed cost of wages (Miller, 2011).
There are many ways to implement a performance based plan but all require that goals be set,

How Animation Can Bring The Dullest Of The Features And...
Introduction
In a sense Animation can bring the dullest of the features and bring it to life. It s like magic that gives
the most seemingly inanimate objects different kind of emotions and vitality. Animation made its way
to the Multimedia as one of the most attractive and much sought component over the years.
What is animation? To animate means to impart motion on something that cannot. Animation also
adds the essence of time, which increases the possibility of sending the desired information. Animator
need to specify how the thing they are animating move through time and space.
Decades ago when CGI doesn t exist animators were hand drawing plates for animated films and
cartoons, or relying on stop motion to create realistic effect. The birth of 3D animation was a long
process and cost billions and time to develop. Director of Avatar James Cameron waited around 20
years until 3D animation has advance before starting filming Avatar in 2009.

The term CGI is a misnomer the computer doesn t generate the images. That would be like calling
traditional animation Pencil Generated Imagery. No matter what the tool is, it requires an artist to

Elevated NLR, is a strong predictor of stable coronary artery disease (CAD), its development,
progression and mortality.52,53,54,55 The predictive superiority of NLR may be due to the fact that
NLR is a ratio integrating the deleterious effects of Ns, which are responsible for innate immunity and
lymphopenia, which is a marker of poor general condition.56 Coronary artery anatomy: Left Main
Coronary Artery The left main coronary artery (LMCA) arises from the left aortic coronary sinus
ranging in diameter from 3 to 6 mm and up to 10 to 15 mm length. It courses behind the right
ventricular outflow tract and usually bifurcates into the left anterior descending artery (LAD) and left
circumflex (LCx) branches. Rarely, the LMCA artery is absent, and the LAD and LCx arteries arises
from separate ostia. In some patients, the LMCA trifurcates into the LAD, LCx and the ramus
intermedius which arises between the LAD and the LCx arteries. Left Anterior Descending Artery The
left anterior descending (LAD) artery passes along the surface of interventricular groove anteriorly
toward the cardiac apex. It gives several septal perforators and diagonal branches. Most patients have
one to three diagonal branches. In most patients the LAD rounds along the left ventricular apex and
ends at the diaphragmatic surface of the left ventricle.

Electronic Media And Its Impact On The World
Since its inception radio has gone through many changes. In its infancy it was the only true form of
electronic media. Radios became a requirement in all sea vessels, a result of the tragic sinking of the
Titanic. During the Great Depression it grew in popularity due to its price, free. This was referred to
the Golden Age of Radio. Radio remained the dominant force in media until the arrival of the
television. The high fidelity of FM radio caught the interest of those who favored music programming
and with the addition of DJs, radio held it s own. Over the years many new competitors have joined
the media race. Technology has delivered new gadgets such as the MP3 player, iPod, and
smartphones. New services like Amazon, Bandcamp, and iTunes have sprung up offering music
downloads at low prices. Streaming services on smartphones have grown in popularity, Pandora,
Spotify and Google Play being three of the forerunners. All this and radio still holds on. They are
found in virtually every automobile. Local broadcast radio is commonly heard in local restaurants and
bars. Last but not least, you likely have one in your pocket, your smartphone. Smartphone
manufacturers founded the feature cost them little to add and it has been quite popular in developing
countries outside of the United States. The majority of smartphones manufacturers included an FM
chip in its design which allows the user to receive FM radio. Though most phones around the world

Changes In One Hundred Years Of Solitude Marquez
One Hundred Years of Solitude Essay A setting in a book can change a character s moods, thoughts
and feelings. It can affect their choices and behaviors, changing them over time. These changes are
seen in the book One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez. In this story the Buendia
family live in a town, named Macondo. They had many adventures in the story and generation after
generation have had a lot of kids. Then at the end of the story Aurelino, one of the characters from the
story, find these parchments, and as he reads further into them, a storm which gets bigger and bigger,

the character are seen to change a lot. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At this point Fernanda and Aurelino are married and have a daughter named Meme. Aurelino isn t in
her life but soon tried to grow a close bond with her. Then Meme when she becomes a teenager goes
out to drink. Fernanda asks what happened, then Amaranta was startled by the obvious burden of hate
that the declaration carried (Marquez 272). Then Meme meets a boy, causing Fernanda to be too
overprotective and asked a mayor to put a guard at her house, lying that her hens were being stolen.
Then when Mauricio Babilonia came to see Meme, a bullet lodged in his spinal column reduced him
to his bed for the rest of his life. He sided of old age in solitude (Marquez 285). When Amaranta tells
Fernanda she was startled by the obvious burden of hate in her, this shows how much having Meme
changed her. She went from a leader to a hateful mother and knowing Amaranta is a soulless, hateful
person herself, it is obvious she can detect it in Fernanda. Also, it s obvious how Fernanda has
changed because when she found out about Meme and Mauricio, she was furious. She was so mad that
she was willing to put a guard at her house and have a bullet lodged in his spinal column reduced him
to his head for the rest of his life and eventually killing him at old age. She was willing to put up a
guard and lie that she thinks her hens were being stolen, even though she knew Mauricio would die.
Fernanda goes to the trouble to murdering him, even though she knows how upset Meme, her own
daughter, would be. In general, this shows how at the beginning of the book she believed in becoming
queen made her a leader who wanted to make a change, but her behavior changed when she had a
child, and she became a hateful

The Underground Railroad By Ann Petry Essay
Harriet Tubman: Conductor on the Underground Railroad was written by Ann Petry. It was published
by Thomas Y. Crowell in 1955. The book has 242 pages. This book tells about Harriet s life as a young
slave and how she escaped slavery. She led many other slaves to freedom in the North throughout her
life. The book starts by focusing on Harriet s parents, Old Rit and Ben Ross. It discusses their life on
the Brodas plantation in Maryland. In 1820, Old Rit had a baby, and she named this baby Araminta
Ross. However, she planned to call the baby Minta or Minty until she got older. Then, she would be
called Harriet. Minta grew up on the Brodas plantation. When she was six years old, she was hired out
to Mr. And Mrs. James Cook. Her job there was to watch Mr. Cook s trap lines, which meant she was
always out in the cold. Minty got the measles, and was sent back home to the Brodas plantation. After
Old Rit helped to get her better, Minta was sent back to the Cooks. This time, though, she was to stay
inside and learn to weave. However, Mrs. Cook decided that she was unteachable, and Minta was sent
back home. Soon after Minty had returned home, she was hired out again. This time to a woman
named Miss Susan. Minta was to be a child s nurse. Here, Miss Susan was very harsh on seven year
old Minta. Miss Susan beat her whenever she didn t do something exactly right, or when Miss Susan s
baby cried during the night. One time, Minty ran away from Miss Susan. However, after a few

Marriage and Twelfth Night
At the end of Shakespeare s comedic plays all complications and disorders are resolved and a new
order is generated to the satisfaction of the audience. to what extent is this true of Shakespeare s
Twelfth Night?
It is easily argued that Shakespeare s comedic plays have a similar, formulaic, structure. Dr Schwartz
from the California Polytechnic State University argues that the action of a comedy traces a movement
from conflict to the resolution of conflict . There are many disorders and complications in each plot,
which by the end of the play must be resolved for the satisfaction of the Elizabethan audience, and in
some perspectives, this applies to the modern day audience as well. Twelfth Night poses many

Antonio is a character whom it could be argued does not receive a happy ending. It is easily identified
by particularly modern audiences, that Antonio is a character who may have homosexual desires. The
language used in: my desire, more sharp than steel, did spur me on could be interpreted as rather
lustful especially the words sharper than steel which suggests sexual imagery. This circumstance of
mistaken identity, when Antonio is in trouble and mistakes Cesario for Sebastian, for some audiences
leans more towards tragedy than comedy because the consequences are more severe. We see how
betrayed Antonio feels in the line how vile an idol proves his god! Antonio worshipped Sebastian like
an idol, and relieved him with such sanctity of love , only to discover he is the beauteous evil . The
audience may feel pity towards Antonio; this is something they will want resolved. It can be argued
this does happen when Sebastian returns. This may have been a good enough resolution for an
Elizabethan audience, as many of them will have had no desire to see a homosexual pairing, and
perhaps Sebastian s marriage to Olivia would leave them satisfied that no homoerotic acts occur. The
question to Antonio s happiness never seems to be resolved,

For centuries, horse racing was a sport only played by the rich. It became extremely popular among
the members of the royalty and the aristocracy that horse racing, or thoroughbred racing, was branded
as the Sport of Kings . But that was then.
Today, becoming an owner of a racehorse is not only limited to the people who move in elevated

Kurt Vonnegut and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Kurt Vonnegut was an American writer, born in Indianapolis, Indiana. His parents, Kurt Vonnegut Sr.
and Edith Vonnegut, both studied architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He had
two older siblings, Bernard and Alice. He attended Cornell University, along with his siblings. He
enlisted in the army while at Cornell, and from there the army transferred him over to Carnegie
Institute of Technology and then to the University of Tennessee, in which he studied mechanical
engineering. One of his most known works, Slaughterhouse Five , was about a soldier in World War
II, much like himself, and the journey s he goes through after, during, and before the war. Billy
Pilgrim, the main character in the story randomly travels through time, and is abducted by aliens who
see everything in fourth dimension. Billy was an optometrist, who then was drafted into the military.
Billy pilgrim reflects the type of man that Vonnegut is himself. He writes of himself through the
fictional character, Billy. It is clear that they both suffer with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. PTSD is
a disorder, common in war veterans, that causes anxiety due to a tragic accident or injury that the
person experienced. It causes the person to have horrible flashbacks, or memories of the accident. In
Billy s case, the bombing of Dresden could account for the tragic accident that caused the anxiety.
Vonnegut is using this allusion, as he was present and survived in the bombing of Dresden as well. As

Economic Policies And The Great Recession Of 2008
Demand side policies and the Great recession of 2008
Recession is a term that looms over any society at some point or another but what does recession
mean for the economy, in short it is an economic decline. This essay will examine the meaning of
recession and will discuss the fiscal and monetary policies that are used to pull economies out of
recessions. The great Recession of 2008 will shed light on how these policies were successful at
restoring economic growth and reducing unemployment.
The economic meaning of a recession is that the gross Domestic Product (GDP) has declined for two
or more consecutive quarters. Unemployment rises, housing falls, stocks fall and the economy is in
trouble. Whenever the government sees that the economy is entering a recession it is important for it
to act. The U.S acted in two ways during the Great recession of 2008 through fiscal and monetary
policies. Renaud Fillieule identifies that Monetary and credit expansions have been the main tools
used by the U.S. government and central bank to try and recover economically from the Great
Recession of 2008 (Fillieule r, Pg. 99 2016). These Keynesian policies are debatable among
economist, none the less they were implemented and put the U.S on the road to recovery.

Coercive Power And Its Effects On Society
In terms of social sciences and politics, power is the ability to influence or outright control people s
behavior. Power may be viewed as evil or unjust, but the exercise of power is generally accepted as
pervasive to humans as social beings. Never the less, power comes in many forms and each form has
its own implications. One of these forms is coercion, and it is usually called Coercive Power .
Coercive power termed as the ability to create fear in people with the possibility of inflicting pain or

occur if they fail to comply. Coercive power depends on the application, or threat, of physical

A large part of organizational behavior could be explained in terms of coercive power rather than
reward power. In a 1959 study, social psychologists John R. P. French and Bertram Raven developed a
schema of sources of power in order to analyze how power plays function, or fail, in specific
relationships. According to them, the concept of power is fundamentally relative, depending on
specific understandings developed into relationships, and recognition of a quality that motivates the
influence of the power holder, and carries out his or her intentions via the affected. It was French and
Raven, who argued and established five significant categories of power, in addition to other minor
categories. Coercive power is among the five significant categories, and the duo has noted that
coercive power tends to be the most obvious, but at the same time least effective form of power. This,
according to them, is because coercive power builds resentment and resistance from the people who
are subjected to it. As threats, punishments and force are common means of exerting coercive power,
relying on this type of power can result in a deficient leadership style. When viewed in a political
context, coercive power is applied, and even tolerable, when applied with the justification of social
and legal norms. It can also be tolerated when the leadership group is viewed as successful.
Coercive methods are

Pest Control In Silent Spring
Rachel Carson s Silent Spring is still today as controversial, groundbreaking, and relevant as it was
when it was first published in 1962. The book argues that uncontrolled and unexamined pesticide use
harms and even kills not only animals, but humans too. Carson documents the negative effects of
pesticides on the environment. The text includes strong accusations against the chemical industry and
a call to look at how the use of chemicals can cause damage and impact the world around us. The
book s intended audience is the general public because Carson wants to bring the problem of harmful
pesticide use to everyone s attention. She also successfully demonstrates the fragility of the
biodiversity on the planet and emphasizes how chemical use can have large repercussions.
How could intelligent beings seek to control a few unwanted species by a method that contaminated
the entire environment and brought the threat of disease and death event to their own kind? (8) Rachel
Carson s question, asked in Silent Spring, requires the reader to take stock in the conditions under
which Americans at the time were dealing with pest control. The title, Silent Spring, comes from the
silence in many forests and meadows due to the poisoning of songbirds, insects and other
invertebrates, and even plants. This now historical account of the use of pesticides has raised America
s awareness of the dangers of agricultural chemicals that had become commonly accepted during this
time.

Cerebrovascular Disease
Cerebrovascular disease is any abnormality of the brain caused by a pathologic process in the blood
vessels. (McCance, 2015) Aneurysms and strokes or cerebrovascular accidents encompass this
category. There are three categories of strokes: ischemic (thrombotic or embolic), global
hypoperfusion, and intracerebral hemorrhage. Thrombotic strokes are caused by arterial occlusions
from blood clots formed in the arteries supplying the brain or in the intracranial vessels (McCance,
2015). The development of blood clots or thrombi in the venous channels of the brain is called
cerebral thrombosis. Cerebral thrombosis is mostly ascribed to atherosclerosis and inflammatory
disease processes that damage arterial walls. Inadequate cerebral perfusion creates damage in the
arterial walls where platelets and fibrin attach to forming a thrombus. Portions of the clot detach and
travel up the vessel to distant sites where occlusion occurs, producing a stroke syndrome. (McCance,
2015) An embolic stroke occurs when a fragment that breaks from a thrombus outside of the brain
occludes a cranial artery, usually the middle cerebral artery. Hypertension occurs when there is an
increase in cardiac output or total peripheral resistance, or both (McCance, 2015). Cardiac output is

Bio Finch Lab Report
The objective of this lab was to observe how competition works in an actual environment, and how it
contributes as a selecting agent towards processes such as natural selection. In order to examine how
these processes worked, people in the class were assigned a variety of different beaks for each of the
finches , or students. These beaks included chopsticks, binder clips, clothespins, pliers, and tweezers.
This created variation with the many different types of beaks that were available. All of the finches
started off with the same habitat, which was an island with small seeds. For this experiment, the
clothespin was assigned. Before beginning the lab, predictions were made based on the tools that were
provided. It was predicted that the chopsticks would be the least successful tool, due to its difficulty in
using it, and the high probability that the food would easily slip from the chopsticks. On the other
hand, the tweezers were predicted as the most successful tool, due to its ease of use, the pointed tip,

When going over the results, tweezers and pliers were shown to have the best adaptation for both large
and small seeds. Clothespins were rated as being able to feed on large seeds, and chopsticks and
binder clips were labeled as inefficient in surviving in any of the environments, regardless of the seed
size. Therefore, the prediction from before was correct that chopsticks would be a difficult tool to use,
and tweezers did end up being one of the most successful beaks. From this experiment, this also
proved how the process of natural selection works, which was represented by the finches that adapted
the best to their environments (the beak that was best fitted for picking up the seeds). These species
that survived would later reproduce, and the useful traits would be passed down. This lab clearly

In the early 1700s, the monarchies failures at finance, national debt, involvement in multiple wars
with little care given to veterans and rising unemployment inflamed the people. When coupled with

pamphlets finished his Dictionnaire Philosophique in 1764, and the French Revolution began in 1789.
As these social, political, and moral views changed, so too did the style the arts used to communicate
life. It was during this Age of Enlightenment that the Neoclassical era in art history began by
reflecting these changing views using a style much less ornate and gilded than the Baroque and
Rococo styles that had previously dominated artistic endeavors. Strict adherence to simple classical
style with an aim to technical perfection was favored and borrowed heavily from Greek and Roman
pieces discovered earlier in the 1700s. Art was approached with the same logic and reason of the age
and with much less emotion and drama than Baroque or Rococo.
The subject matter was often dark and serious, morally and ethically upright, or heroic. Where the
aristocracy had valued drama, emotion, and grandeur, the people now valued self denial and self
sacrifice over self indulgence. The colors were often dark or solemn and made use of chiaroscuro,

A Short Note On Numerical Analysis Of Various Turbulence...
2 D Numerical Analysis of Various Turbulence Models in CFD for External Flow over a Cylinder
Tharikaa Ramesh kumar
Graduate Student, Aerospace Engineering, Auburn University, Auburn, AL, USA
The effects of turbulence on a flow can be predicted by Turbulence modeling in Computational Fluid
Dynamics. Numerous turbulence models have been developed over the time and are used for
envisioning the characteristics of the flow in different flow regimes in terms of time averaged
quantities for both internal and external flows. Still, one of the challenges in CFD is to simulate the
significant flow physics. Numerical analysis will be carried out to investigate the capabilities of the
various turbulence models in CFD. External flow over a cylinder ... Show more content on

Over the past decades, the laminar and turbulent unsteady viscous flow behind a circular cylinder has
been the subject of numerous experimental and numerical studies. Flow past a bluff body like the
circular cylinder usually experiences very strong flow oscillations and boundary layer separation in
the wake region behind the body. In certain Reynolds number range, a periodic flow motion will
develop in the wake as a result of boundary layer vortices being shed alternatively from either side of
the cylinder. For assessing the ability of computational flow solving software to reproduce real flow
conditions flow around a cylinder is an excellent case because of simplicity of the geometry and the
complex nature of flow around the body. The flow regimes can be divided based on the Re and the
behavior of the flow around the cylinder in these regimes as Steady axisymmetric regime (20 Re 210),
Steady planar symmetric regime (210 Re 270), Unsteady planar symmetric regime (270 Re 400),
Unsteady asymmetric regime (400 Re 1000), Turbulent wake regime (Re 1000). One of the most
important but unsolved problem in the area of engineering and sciences are Turbulence. Solving the
time dependent three dimensional Navier stokes equation might give a complete description of
turbulent flows but with the available computers are not capable enough to solve for the required
length and time

Controversies On The Existence Of God
Existence of God
Major issues and controversies on the existence of God
Name: Yasin Eroglu
Student Number: 213483441
Course Name and Code: The Nature of Religion: An Introduction, AP/HUMA 1860 6.00
Teacher Assistant: Irfaan Jaffer
Due Date: April 14, 2015 Beliefs cannot be validated, and for this reason, people believe in what they
choose to. This paves way to question the existence of God, the existence of an omnipotent and
omniscient being. Given that the Divine is beyond sensory experience, there are questions and
controversies regarding His existence. Views on God s existence can be placed on a spectrum: on one
end, those who accept a divine power, and on the other, those who reject it. In this essay, I argue that
God exists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, belief in God requires faith. Faith is needed in order for one to accept the existence of the
Divine. The existence of God is controversial (and unlikely) for one who has no basis of faith. This is
because reason cannot explain faith. Reason cannot explain the existence of something that it has no
basis for. This relates back to Descartes cogito ergo sum, meaning, I think, therefore I am. Although
Descartes was concerned with knowledge of the individual, this can relate to God. To think that there
exists a God inherently assumes that there is such a force in the universe. Given that religion is a
collective practice and an act of obedience to God performed by many people for centuries, it seems
horrendous to assume that so many people have been wrong about their experience and belief. One
can come to this conclusion through deduction by moving from general to specific; millions of people
cannot simply be wrong in believing that there is a

The Importance Of Spaying And Neutering And The Problems...
My topic is on spaying and neutering and the problems those surgeries could make better or even fix
completely. Ultimately by spaying or neutering a pet, the owner would be helping lower the
overpopulation of animals. A pet owner would also be helping their pet by not allowing them to go
through puberty or heat cycles. It is a fact known worldwide that spaying and neutering your pet will
help lower the overpopulation of animals. Overpopulation has been a problem for many years now.
There are too many stray animals wandering the streets and living in animal shelters awaiting a home
that won t come. The importance of spaying and neutering is to give the pet owner and the pet the best
life. Veterinarians perform spaying and neutering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone is affected by overpopulation, even those who do not own pets. Human health is at risk from
all the stray animals having transmittable diseases such as rabies and the animal waste.
There are several different procedures on spaying and neutering pets. Each and every procedure would
be performed by a veterinarian who has studied medicine. Discuss all of these procedures with a
veterinarian for the best option for each specific pet. Of course, there is the usual spay procedure is a
ovariohysterectomy, which is when the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and uterus are removed from a female
pet. As a result this makes the female pet unable to reproduce and eliminates the breeding instinct
related behavior and the heat cycle. Also there is the hysterectomy, which is when the uterus and part
of the fallopian tubes are removed from a female pet. This makes the female pet unable to reproduce,
but the female will still produce hormones because of the ovaries. This may not eliminate the female
behaviors related to the breeding instinct. Lastlty, for the female pet there is the ovariectomy, which is
when the ovaries are removed from a female pet but the uterus remains. Similarly to the effects of
ovariohysterectomy such as making the female unable to reproduce and eliminates the breeding
instinct related behavior and the heat cycle. The usual neuter procedure is a orchiectomy, which is

arrives at Shawshank Prison, Red bets that he will be the first one to collapse that night. Apparently,
Red knows very little about Andy at the beginning of the movie. However, as time goes by, Red
begins to be close with Andy. In jail, people are filled with negative emotions and tons of difficulties.
Under this cruel circumstances (What circumstances?), Andy and Red are always together and share
with each other about all of their lives, which help them develop their precious friendship. At the end
of the film, they are still the best friend of each other. Their shared belief and experience tight them
together till the end of their life. Brooks Secondly, mental disorders are shown in the movie. In
Shawshank Prison, most of the prisoners suffer from institutional syndrome which refers to deficits or
disabilities in social and life skills, which develop after a person has spent a long period living in
mental hospitals, prisons, or other remote institutions. (Williams, 1994) This disorder is common to be
found with people who live in institutions over a long period of time. Therefore, the sufferers are
unable to handle themselves in the world outside the institutions. They would often feel depressed.

Standing Seam Roof Research Paper
Over a long period of time, a consumer s most traditional choice for a roofing system was asphalt
shingles. Other options were sparse and if you wanted to purchase a distinct roofing material
compared to asphalt shingles; metal roofing was one of the roofing materials that would do the job.
When most homeowners begin contemplating about a metal roof, all they could visualize were the
roofing materials they had observed on barns and commercial buildings. Now metal roofing is
appearing on homes all around neighborhoods. There are few types of metal roofing, but there is a
distinct type called standing seam metal roofing. A standing seam roof is a metal roof where the seams
position above the flat, steady surface. It appears contrasting to the rigid metal roofs seen on barns and
industrial buildings. Standing seam roofing is amongst the most permanent and maintenance free type
of metal roofing. Standing Seam is becoming more prominent with homeowners because of the
several advantages such as durability, energy efficiency, and high seams, fewer seams, and color
choices. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If homeowners live in areas known for severe weather, there isn t a better roofing option. A standing
seam roof will not shrink, crack, or erode. Standing seam is one of the most secure roofs for hurricane

systems rated for up to extremely high wind uplift. Homeowners can put their minds at peace knowing
with a standing seam metal roof that it will last well over fifty years, but if it was installed properly.

Summary Of The Episode Remains To Be Seen
Goffman (1963) refers to stigma as being a disorder that an individual carries, it is a mark of shame in
which something unusual or bad about the person is exposed. When people express an impression to
the manner they want to present their self, they play a virtual identity to avoid exposing their actual
identity because it might be stigmatized. Goffman (1963) also mentions when people are stigmatized
they worry about how others see them, which is the similar to how we feel when performing a certain
role to keep what we consider normal people from finding out the truth about our shame a
characteristic of what we think is abnormal/weird to other people. Glacalone Rosenfeld (1989)
compare social situations to interviews, an approach where an individual selects the perception and
behavior to reflect their good qualities to the person they are performing for. Despite trying to give a
reasonable impersonation of one self, people run the risk of being discreditable, which is a stigma that
is not readily perceivable to others. Allan (2014) also discusses that some people are already
discredited, when normal people are readily aware about a person s stigma as they try to pretend that
they do not notice, or the person who is already stigmatized plays it off to show or perceive their
shame ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

accident and sustaining a concussion. The mark of shame the character possesses is that of a murderer,

The Importance Of Effective Communication Skills
I have developed my effective communication skills over the past few years whilst working both my
current jobs; Vue Cinema and Sainsbury s, whilst studying Law at Leeds Beckett University. In order
to effectively communicate with others I believe it is essential to listen to, not just hear people s views.
This includes what words have been spoken, but also how they have been spoken, taking note both the
person s body language and tone of voice.
An example of when I have utilised this skill is when I notice customers struggling with their packing
at Sainsbury s and I volunteer to help them, even if I am currently not serving them. Customers often
do not ask for help, but I assess the situation through a customer s body language and facial
expressions to determine whether to help. Packing, even though a seemingly small task, involves
constant effective communication, this allows myself to understand the customer s requirements and
needs as to how and what should be packed. Effective communication builds a colleague customer
relationship, in result creating a trust between them and the company.
Effective communication also involves being aware of others emotions i.e. being sympathetic to other
people s misfortune and using empathy to put yourself in the other persons shoes . I use first names
where appropriate, this helps to build a relationship with the person I am talking to, making them my
equal. Effective communication involves good eye contact, I make and maintain eye

Opioids drug are a very serious matter that goes around daily without being noticed. Although some precautions have not been a total fail, recent epidemic shows the problems with the Opioid drug addiction is bigger than what we can handle and cannot simply curb the epidemic. There have been precautions made in the past to decrease the rise of Opioids and other harmful drugs, but nothing has made a big enough impact for it to matter. Congress has created a Special drug law enforcement agency in the year 1930 to help enforce the drug laws, and decrease the amount of drugs being imported into the U.S. This Agency was called The Federal Bureau of Narcotics . Hormone Replacement Therapy Essay Hormone Replacement Therapy in Transgendering the FTM Transsexual Gender may well be the most defining factor in the spectrum of elements that comprise the human persona. In fact gender is so basic to our identity, most people mistakenly assume that our sense of being male or female is defined with absolute certainty by our anatomical sex. Contrary to popular belief, our sense of gender and anatomical sex are two distinct elements; each developing at different times in different parts of the body. While my research is limited to hormone replacement therapy involved in masculinizing a biological female, it should be noted that the psychiatric, psychological, and medical factors that contribute to cases of gender dysforia are major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overview of Hormone Replacement Therapy for the FTM Transexual Fundamental to sex reassignment treatment of transsexuals is the acquisition of the sex characteristics of the other sex to the fullest extent possible. With the exception of the internal and external genitalia, sex characteristics are contingent of the biological effects of the respective sex steroids. Hormonal reassignment has therefore two aims: 1) to eliminate, in so far as possible, the hormonally induced secondary sex characteristics of the natal sex and 2) to induce those of the new sex. Biologic females treated with testosterone experience the following permanent changes: a deepening of the voice, clitoral enlargement, mild breast atrophy, increased facial and body hair and male pattern baldness. Reversible changes include increased upper body strength, weight gain, increased social and sexual interest and arousability, and decreased hip mass. Hormonal Replacement Therapy (HRT) Hormones are long range chemical messengers of the body, manufactured and controlled by the endocrine system. The hypothalamus produces gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH). This signals the anterior pituitary gland to synthesize and release luteinizing hormone (LH). To a lesser degree, GnRH also triggers the synthesis and release of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). Subsequently, LH and FSH signal the gonads (ovaries in females, testes in males) to synthesize and release hormones that cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On this day, more than 3,000 people were killed including over 400 first responding police officers and firefighters. In recent years as people look back on that day it is remembered as a time when the country was joined together by grief and showed an overwhelming amount of comfort and support to the victims and their families; it was also a time of extreme national pride. People also remember that following the attacks the economy suffered tremendously, in addition, air traffic which makes up a portion of the economy was greatly disrupted, both of which created uncertainty about the security of the financial markets critical to the success of the United States. What most people do not remember is the immediate backlash and hostility the Muslim and Arab communities received following the attacks by both civilians and the media. In such pieces, the author will use many different tricks and appeals in order to draw the reader to his or her train of thought. According to Andrea Lunsford in her instructional book The Everyday Writer, these appeals can be broken down into three main types logical, emotional and ethical. A logical argument uses facts, statistics and surveys to back up what the author is saying and is commonly referred to as logos. An ethical argument is one that tries to build up the authors characters and prove to the reader that the author is qualified to give his or her views on the topic at hand. She uses quotes and phrases like [torture] endangers our soldiers on the battlefield and damage[s] our country s image, calling on the sense of patriotism throughout America to turn the people against torture. Applebaum even goes so far as to throw out the baseless conjecture the use of special methods might help explain why the war is going so badly (Applebaum 37). This appeal to emotion tries to sway the reader against torture by making the assumption that there is some connection between the use of torture and the effectiveness of enemy soldiers a great example of the use of pathos to mislead readers. Just as The Torture Myth relied mainly on pathos and scattered logos, the 2011 Louisiana Life March Promo Video (Louisiana March for Life,) a promotional video for an anti abortion march on the Louisiana State Capitol building, relies on the same argumentative appeals. The list of sponsors appearing at the end of the promotional video provides the only ethical appeal for the argument. The rhythm of the 5th symphony was very important. Beethoven created a tempo allegro con brio (fast with spirit). I think him doing this worked well with this piece and made it that much more creative. As for the tone color, that s a hard one. There is no overall tone color for the whole symphony. The harmony was mainly minor mode. The notes were very present and it got easier to hear and notice the instruments once I listened to the symphony a few times. Stop with the judging There are many factors that contribute to the overall lack of a multicultural mindset on a global and local scale. A lot of people like to be separated from those who are not like them, either in the socioeconomic spectrum, the racial spectrum, the way they live or simply the human experience overall. Humans tend to judge those who are different than them, showing a lack of understanding of a variety of culture or the disparities that makes each human different. A reality that is portrayed throughout all the movies in the class. For example, in the movie First Blood, John Rambo, the main character in the film, is often judged and mistreated by others in the movie, simply because of his military background and the differences he has with them (Kotcheff, First Blood). There are multiple examples of these type of behavior throughout all the movies. The Basic Concepts Of Ilp Introduction Instruction level parallelism(or we call it ILP) is a form of parallel operation or calculation which allows program to perform multiple instructions at one time. Thus it is also a measurement to describe the amount of instruction per unit time.We will explore the LIP from an overall view to the several specific methods to exploit it. ILP is a measure of how many of the instructions in a computer program can be executed simultaneously. When exploiting instruction level parallelism, goal is to maximize CPI. As for how much ILP exists in programs is very application specific. In certain fields, like graphics and scientific computing the amount can be very large while workloads such as cryptography may exhibit much less parallelism. Micro architectural techniques that are used to exploit ILP include instruction pipelining, superscalar execution, register renaming, and so on. This paper will first access the basic concepts of ILP by exploring the ways of handling data, including the controlling data dependence and data hazards. Then we will talk about ways of how to expose ILP using pipelining and loop scheduling in compiler(the ways to speed up instruction operation). Additionally, we will discuss the details of dealing with data hazards by dynamic scheduling (allow execution before control dependence is solved) by using the examples of Tomasulo s algorithm and explain the different types of branch prediction(choose which instruction to be executed). Due to the fact that performance based employees have a vested interest in the success of the company their productivity is likely to improve which can lead to the need for fewer employees to maintain production levels leading to a reduction in labor costs to the employer. Studies have shown that time based employees only produce 50 to 60 percent of the output of performance based employees (Atchinson). Performance based pay plans are becoming increasingly utilized by companies across all industries as they try to improve their productivity while limiting their costs and remaining competitive. An effective performance based plan allows an employer to distribute some of the financial risk and rewards of the business to the employees. The employer can keep base pay compensation below the market average while still offering employees the opportunity to make more money than what is offered at the high end of the market pay range. This leaves the employer less vulnerable to fluctuations in the economic environment by lowering the fixed cost of wages (Miller, 2011). She was so mad that she was willing to put a guard at her house and have a bullet lodged in his spinal column reduced him to his head for the rest of his life and eventually killing him at old age. She was willing to put up a guard and lie that she thinks her hens were being stolen, even though she knew Mauricio would die. Fernanda goes to the trouble to murdering him, even though she knows how upset Meme, her own daughter, would be. In general, this shows how at the beginning of the book she believed in becoming queen made her a leader who wanted to make a change, but her behavior changed when she had a child, and she became a hateful ... • 29. The Underground Railroad By Ann Petry Essay Harriet Tubman: Conductor on the Underground Railroad was written by Ann Petry. It was published by Thomas Y. Crowell in 1955. The book has 242 pages. This book tells about Harriet s life as a young slave and how she escaped slavery. She led many other slaves to freedom in the North throughout her life. The book starts by focusing on Harriet s parents, Old Rit and Ben Ross. It discusses their life on the Brodas plantation in Maryland. In 1820, Old Rit had a baby, and she named this baby Araminta Ross. However, she planned to call the baby Minta or Minty until she got older. Then, she would be called Harriet. Minta grew up on the Brodas plantation. When she was six years old, she was hired out to Mr. And Mrs. James Cook. Her job there was to watch Mr. Cook s trap lines, which meant she was always out in the cold. Minty got the measles, and was sent back home to the Brodas plantation. After Old Rit helped to get her better, Minta was sent back to the Cooks. This time, though, she was to stay inside and learn to weave. However, Mrs. Cook decided that she was unteachable, and Minta was sent back home. Soon after Minty had returned home, she was hired out again. This time to a woman named Miss Susan. Minta was to be a child s nurse. Here, Miss Susan was very harsh on seven year old Minta. Miss Susan beat her whenever she didn t do something exactly right, or when Miss Susan s baby cried during the night. One time, Minty ran away from Miss Susan. However, after a few ... Marriage and Twelfth Night At the end of Shakespeare s comedic plays all complications and disorders are resolved and a new order is generated to the satisfaction of the audience. to what extent is this true of Shakespeare s Twelfth Night? It is easily argued that Shakespeare s comedic plays have a similar, formulaic, structure. Dr Schwartz from the California Polytechnic State University argues that the action of a comedy traces a movement from conflict to the resolution of conflict . This circumstance of mistaken identity, when Antonio is in trouble and mistakes Cesario for Sebastian, for some audiences leans more towards tragedy than comedy because the consequences are more severe. We see how betrayed Antonio feels in the line how vile an idol proves his god! The audience may feel pity towards Antonio; this is something they will want resolved. It can be argued this does happen when Sebastian returns. He attended Cornell University, along with his siblings. He enlisted in the army while at Cornell, and from there the army transferred him over to Carnegie Institute of Technology and then to the University of Tennessee, in which he studied mechanical engineering. Billy Pilgrim, the main character in the story randomly travels through time, and is abducted by aliens who see everything in fourth dimension. This essay will examine the meaning of recession and will discuss the fiscal and monetary policies that are used to pull economies out of recessions. The great Recession of 2008 will shed light on how these policies were successful at restoring economic growth and reducing unemployment. The economic meaning of a recession is that the gross Domestic Product (GDP) has declined for two or more consecutive quarters. Unemployment rises, housing falls, stocks fall and the economy is in trouble. Whenever the government sees that the economy is entering a recession it is important for it to act. The U.S acted in two ways during the Great recession of 2008 through fiscal and monetary policies. Renaud Fillieule identifies that Monetary and credit expansions have been the main tools used by the U.S. government and central bank to try and recover economically from the Great Recession of 2008 (Fillieule r, Pg. 99 2016). A large part of organizational behavior could be explained in terms of coercive power rather than reward power. In a 1959 study, social psychologists John R. P. French and Bertram Raven developed a schema of sources of power in order to analyze how power plays function, or fail, in specific relationships. According to them, the concept of power is fundamentally relative, depending on specific understandings developed into relationships, and recognition of a quality that motivates the influence of the power holder, and carries out his or her intentions via the affected. It was French and Raven, who argued and established five significant categories of power, in addition to other minor categories. Coercive power is among the five significant categories, and the duo has noted that coercive power tends to be the most obvious, but at the same time least effective form of power. This, according to them, is because coercive power builds resentment and resistance from the people who are subjected to it. As threats, punishments and force are common means of exerting coercive power, relying on this type of power can result in a deficient leadership style. When viewed in a political context, coercive power is applied, and even tolerable, when applied with the justification of social and legal norms. The text includes strong accusations against the chemical industry and a call to look at how the use of chemicals can cause damage and impact the world around us. The book s intended audience is the general public because Carson wants to bring the problem of harmful pesticide use to everyone s attention. (McCance, 2015) Aneurysms and strokes or cerebrovascular accidents encompass this category. There are three categories of strokes: ischemic (thrombotic or embolic), global hypoperfusion, and intracerebral hemorrhage. Thrombotic strokes are caused by arterial occlusions from blood clots formed in the arteries supplying the brain or in the intracranial vessels (McCance, 2015). The development of blood clots or thrombi in the venous channels of the brain is called cerebral thrombosis. Cerebral thrombosis is mostly ascribed to atherosclerosis and inflammatory disease processes that damage arterial walls. Inadequate cerebral perfusion creates damage in the arterial walls where platelets and fibrin attach to forming a thrombus. Portions of the clot detach and travel up the vessel to distant sites where occlusion occurs, producing a stroke syndrome. (McCance, 2015) An embolic stroke occurs when a fragment that breaks from a thrombus outside of the brain occludes a cranial artery, usually the middle cerebral artery. These beaks included chopsticks, binder clips, clothespins, pliers, and tweezers. This created variation with the many different types of beaks that were available. All of the finches started off with the same habitat, which was an island with small seeds. For this experiment, the clothespin was assigned. Before beginning the lab, predictions were made based on the tools that were provided. It was predicted that the chopsticks would be the least successful tool, due to its difficulty in using it, and the high probability that the food would easily slip from the chopsticks. Summary Of The Episode Remains To Be Seen Goffman (1963) refers to stigma as being a disorder that an individual carries, it is a mark of shame in which something unusual or bad about the person is exposed. When people express an impression to the manner they want to present their self, they play a virtual identity to avoid exposing their actual identity because it might be stigmatized. Goffman (1963) also mentions when people are stigmatized they worry about how others see them, which is the similar to how we feel when performing a certain role to keep what we consider normal people from finding out the truth about our shame a characteristic of what we think is abnormal/weird to other people. The Importance Of Effective Communication Skills I have developed my effective communication skills over the past few years whilst working both my current jobs; Vue Cinema and Sainsbury s, whilst studying Law at Leeds Beckett University. In order to effectively communicate with others I believe it is essential to listen to, not just hear people s views. This includes what words have been spoken, but also how they have been spoken, taking note both the person s body language and tone of voice. An example of when I have utilised this skill is when I notice customers struggling with their packing at Sainsbury s and I volunteer to help them, even if I am currently not serving them. Customers often do not ask for help, but I assess the situation through a customer s body language and facial expressions to determine whether to help. Packing, even though a seemingly small task, involves constant effective communication, this allows myself to understand the customer s requirements and needs as to how and what should be packed. Effective communication builds a colleague customer relationship, in result creating a trust between them and the company. Effective communication also involves being aware of others emotions i.e. being sympathetic to other people s misfortune and using empathy to put yourself in the other persons shoes . I use first names where appropriate, this helps to build a relationship with the person I am talking to, making them my equal. Effective communication involves good eye contact, I make and maintain eye ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
