The Nations Be Glad, By John Piper
In his work Let the Nations Be Glad, John Piper seeks to argue that the ultimate goal of God in all of
history is to uphold and display his glory for the enjoyment of the redeemed from every tribe and
tongue and people and nation (255). Piper begins his work by offering a thorough critique of the
prosperity gospel and the dangerous effect that gospel has on missions. By claiming that the prosperity
gospel undermines believer s covenantal witness, minimizes godliness, makes little of the spiritual
battle that is raging, and undercuts the gospel s assurance that followers of Jesus will endure suffering,
Piper appeals to those who proclaim this gospel to cease, as it harms the mission of the church.
From there, the author proceeds to emphasize the supremacy of God in the work of missions by
outlining the importance of God s supremacy through worship, through prayer, through suffering, of
Christ as the conscious focus of all saving faith, and among all nations. He concludes by exhorting
readers to go forth in missions with a proper compassion for man s souls and focusing on fostering
deep inward worship.
Piper claims that Mission is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is (35). As a result of this,
believers should be captive by the idea that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in
him (50). This is the epitome of worship, complete satisfaction in Jesus. Because of this, believers
should be driven not only to, but to pray, as missions

Language and Literacy
EDKL102 Assessment Task 1

Teachers must have a sound knowledge and appreciation for language and literacy to be able to make
the two concepts a valuable part of a student s curriculum.
This essay will explore the importance of language and literature in a students learning and how they
assist in enhancing their development. Most importantly the similarities and differences will be

Vygotsky believed that by the time a child enters school, they use language not only for
communicative purposes, but also for thinking and planning (Daniels at el, 2007 pg.138).
Literacy is control of secondary use of language. It can be seen as being able to apply language to use
, function and control . We all use language everyday; however literacy is the act of applying our
knowledge of language. We use language to produce a range of modes for different purposes and
audiences. Literacy is used to develop language and use it, for practical and purposeful situations and
work. There is little use for possessing the knowledge of language if we cannot use and apply it in our
everyday lives to gain knowledge and understanding (Kervin 2010).
As educators, we must be aware that our knowledge of literacy and how we convey it to our children
is an essential and ongoing process that is constantly adapting. The importance of applying the student
s knowledge of language to literacy is crucial as it plays a crucial part in a child s education,
development and life skills. If a child cannot apply their language skills to literacy they will find it

All The Shah s Men
All the Shah s Men by Stephen Kinzer details the 1953 American orchestrated coup in Iran. Iran was
under British economic control, but as it modernized, Iranians began fighting for their own control.
Their fledgling democracy was working to modernize, until the UK and the US decided to interfere to
protect Britain s colonial holdings from Soviet influence. Because the US was not interested in
protecting a British business, British politicians emphasized the threat the USSR held to Iran, leading
to Americans inserting themselves into a nation s politics in which they had no place. They
successfully orchestrated a coup, however, the negative, long term, anti Western results overwhelm
any positive effect. All the Shah s Men by Stephen Kinzer paints a picture of the results of action
without adequate attention to future results.
All the Shah s Men details the Iranian coup of 1953. The British, as a colonial power, ran the Anglo
Iranian Oil Company, which provided much of the oil Britain needed during World War II. Not only
that, but it provided large amounts of revenue for the nation. Meanwhile, the Iranians were not
benefiting from the arrangement, as the British mistreated the Iranian workers and paid only a minute
amount of the profits to the Iranian government. A politician, Mossadegh, arose who would work to
nationalize Iranian oil production, taking away economic and political power from the British.
Obviously, the British were unwilling to accept this, and, incensed at

Current Educational Status Of Children With Disabilities...
Current educational status of children with disabilities Differing combinations of structural factors
(such as caste, gender, religion, poverty etc.) intersect with disability resulting in varied individual
experiences, but the broad commonalities that shape the lives of people with disabilities in India
transcend these divisions. Their lives are largely marked by poverty and marginalisation from
mainstream social processes. A recent study by the World Bank (2007), for example, noted that
children with disability are five times more likely to be out of school than children belonging to
scheduled castes or scheduled tribes (SC or ST). Moreover, when children with disability do attend
school they rarely progress beyond the primary level, leading ultimately to lower employment chances
and long term income poverty. Government documents also describe marked variations in the
provisions envisaged for different marginalised groups. Historically, SCs/STs have had a strong
political lobby since independence and this is reflected in the provisions made for them. Article 46 of
the Constitution makes a straightforward commitment to promoting the special care and education of
SC/ST populations, whereas Article 41 referring to children with disabilities, states: The State shall
within the limits of its economic capacity and development make effective provision for securing the
right to work, old age, sickness and disablement. The clause, within the limits of the State s economic

Sexism In Today s Society
Everyday all over the world even in the land of the free there is at least a couple hundred of woman
and men who get added into the list of sexism victims. I am pretty sure every person on this plant has
been added into that list. I think everyone should be aware of this and should prevent this act from
damaging another human being. Thanks to movements such as Feminism which is the belief of social,
political, and economic equality of the sexes. Because of feminism you girls and boys are
understanding and fixing gender roles. I believe because of this discrimination it can cause someone to
feel bad about doing or feeling something that makes them happy or making them feel unaccepted. In
today s society there are plenty of acts of sexism towards women still going on, and nobody really
does anything to stop this from happening. An example of one of the many acts of sexism towards

Essay about Parents Hitting Their Children
Parents Hitting Their Children
For this coursework, I will be looking at whether parents should be allowed to hit their children or
children that are being looked after by them.
Like most questions there are usually two sides to the argument.
The 1st reason why parents should be allowed to hit their kids is to enforce a form of discipline.
The other reason why hitting children is bad is because by hitting a child, they may be emotionally
scared for life.
Many people have different views on this topic; some are for it, some are against it.
The United Nations (UN) as a violation of basic human rights have condemned the national U.K. law.
It says that some forms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

For example, confiscating their toys wouldn t be as effective because the parents may eventually give
the toys back or may give into the child s request.
Other parents argue that hitting your child is wrong.
This is because hitting the child may upset them even after the discipline has been enforced.
Hitting your child may physically and emotionally scar them. This could also make the child form
hatred towards the parent.
Some parents hit their child / children even though they may not want to. They can lose their temper
in the heat of the moment and can t physically stop themselves from doing it.
Many of these parents should find counselling to help them overcome this problem.
When I was a child, my parents used to discipline me by hitting me but only if I behaved very badly.
Looking back on it now, it wasn t so bad because they only ever hit me when I was naughty and I was
never emotionally or physically hurt from it. I was only physically hurt for a moment but I guess that s
one of the reasons why I behaved.
Over time I eventually learnt how to behave the way my parents wanted me to so the hitting stopped.
This made me the person I am today. I consider myself lucky compared to other children who have

Ancient Greek Athletics, By Stephen G. Miller Essay
Stephen G. Miller, the author of Ancient Greek Athletics and many other academic writings lived a
very astounding life. Miller spent a great portion of his life traveling between the United States and
Greece. He went to school to become an archaeologist and afterwards became a professor at Berkeley
and the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Miller was driven by Plato s love for his
work; however, he faced a minor setback when he realized Plato s language was beyond what he could
understand. He then decided to change his studies to archaeology because of his new found love for
amazing indoor and outdoor work. Miller had a unique perspective on ancient Olympic games because
he directed excavations for multiple years at one of the Panhellenic sanctuary sites. He has written
dozens of academic books along with children s books, therefore I was excited to read this authors
rendition of the earliest Olympic Games. Miller s purpose for writing the book Ancient Greek
Athletics is to teach the audience about ancient Greek Games and how this important subject can teach
us more about our own world. He accomplishes this goal by using the artifacts he has studied along
with the history itself to guide the audience in their journey toward appreciating Greek heritage. In this
book, Miller addresses the Olympic Games that began more than twenty five hundred years ago. I
learned many different things throughout this book including: the participants, all the different athletic

Glucosamine Case Study
If you have an older dog, he or she may be affected by arthritis, which is a common problem in older
dogs. Some of the signs include lethargy, a reluctance to move around, and visible signs of pain when
touched. One effective solution is glucosamine, a supplement that has been proven to be effective in
fighting this problem. It works by building up the cartilage, allowing the dog to enjoy being able to
move around once more.
If you are considering this option for your dogs, check with your vet before doing anything, as your
dog may need to have sulfate, HCL or 2KCL glucosamine. Regardless, a low quality product will not
be as effective, and you should ensure that the product you use was produced in a GMP certified plant
and is of high quality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A second opinion from another vet is often a good idea, especially if your dog seems to be very sick,
and a double dosage of the drug for the initial four to six week period is generally recommended by
most vets. Over time, the dosage amount can be reduced as your dog shows signs of improvement.
How Effective Is It?
There are various factors that determine the right glucosamine dosage for dogs and the dog s weight is
one of the most important. The following are meant to be guidelines only, and your vet will be able to
advise on the dosage that is both safe and effective. A maximum of 300 mg of glucosamine should be
given to a dog weighing under 10 pounds, while twice this amount can be administered to dogs
weighing between 11 and 29 pounds. A dog that weighs from 30 to 59 pounds should be given 1200
mg, while a dosage of 1800 mg is recommended for a dog weighing from 60 to 120 pounds.
Once you start giving your dog this product, it will generally be several weeks before you start to
notice signs of improvement, and you should not expect to see results overnight. The original dosage
may be too low if you do not see any signs of improvement after about a month, or it could mean that
your dog also should be prescribed anti inflammatory

Speech On Chewing Gum
You know how gum commercials always boast that their product can give you a fresher, cleaner
mouth, well, that s not entirely a lie. But is chewing gum good for your teeth? When we eat, little bits
of food get stuck between our teeth or behind those permanent retainers that a lot of people have these
days. If that food gets to hang out long enough, it will become a breeding ground for bacteria. That
bacteria can lead to cavities and infections, and really, isn t an infection in the main hole in your face

Change your toothbrush when the bristles begin to curve and at least once every three months.

Make an appointment to the dentist every year for a minimum scaling.
Should we force ourselves into chewing gum?
No need to force yourself to chew gum if you also follow the other good oral hygiene instructions and
if you do not nibble between meals. You should also consider some side effects like gasifying.
Sweeteners ferment in the digestive system and can promote the production of gases that cause
flatulence.
The simple act of chewing increases the amount of air swallowed, and therefore promotes the belching
gas.
The best thing is to test the gum after lunch and see if there is any gasifying problems before deciding
whether or not to adopt this complementary oral hygiene habit.
Conclusion:
So is chewing gum good for your teeth? The answer would be YES. But only if the chewing gum is
sugar free or contain sweeteners such as Xylitol and combined with good oral hygiene habits. I talk

Persuasive Essay On Copper And Nickel
We, the state of Minnesota, have a big decision coming up when it comes to mining the copper and
nickel in the boundary waters. Sulfide mining has been stereotyped as a major pollutant to nearby
waterways. As this may have been proven true with other mining corporations, PolyMet Mining has
found a new way of reusing the sulfide as renewable energy instead of flushing it back into the
waterways. Minnesota is home to one of the largest deposits of copper, nickel, and other precious
metals. Currently there is only one copper and nickel mine currently being used in the United States.
With the U.S consuming more than 202,000 tons of nickel annually, there could be a shortage of
copper and nickel in the near future. Many commonly used equipment has copper and nickel in it.
Some examples of this equipment and common everyday things include: Food preparation equipment,
mobile phones, medical equipment, transportation, buildings, and power generation. With a high
demand for copper and nickel, not being able to replace these metals may result in an increase of
prices of these commonly used items (Where). For those people who are against the mining, imagine
life without mobile phones and medical equipment. Copper and nickel is more important than most
people think.
Embracing the opportunity to mine these precious metals would create jobs, surplus the economy and
would provide more than two billion dollars to the Minnesota Permanent School Trust Fund (Mining).

The purpose of this lab was to calculate the amount of calcium in Kirkland Signature s Calcium
600mg +D3 through the processes of vacuum filtration and acid base titration. These two methods
were effective in determining the amount of calcium in the calcium supplement with an error of +/
0.05 g; the amount of calcium stated on the label was 600 mg. The reactions that occurred during the
process of vacuum filtration were:
CaCO3 (s) + 2HCl(aq) → CaCl2 (aq) +CO2 (g) + H2O(l)
CaCl2(aq) + Na2CO3(aq) → CaCO3(s) +2NaCl(aq)
The amounts of calcium calculated from the two trials of vacuum filtration were 0.554 g and 0.573 g
respectively. The calculations from the trials are shown in Equation 2 and Equation 3. The results from
the vacuum filtration were very close to the amount stated on the bottle. The small deviation from the
original could be the result of inadequately removing all of the ground powder from the mortar and
pestle. This caused the original mass of the supplement to be less than what was expected, hence the
smaller final amount. There was a small difference in the procedures between the two trials of vacuum
filtration. During the second trial, more care and attention was given to make sure that the entire
calcium supplement was transferred from the mortar and pestle to the 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask.
Because more care was given, the calculated amount of calcium increased by 0.019 g.
The other method used in this lab was an acid base titration. The

Philosophy Of A Froebel Classroom
A Froebel classroom shares the ideals of its originator, Friedrich Froebel who originated the idea that
children learn best through play. Play is seen as the avenue for discovery and understanding. These
classrooms are more about open ended play which is not seen as purposeful as much as a means for
self directed comprehension of how things work. Hands on explorations are the hallmark of a Froebel
classroom.
A Reggio Emilia classroom is looked at as a third teacher. The environment is carefully selected, and
extremely important to the philosophy. The materials here are not designed solely for particular
concepts, as they are in a Montessori classroom, but are often plucked from nature with the objective
of exploration. Learning here is more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are seen as competent beings that need to be connected to adults and other children.
In the Montessori Method, it is believed that children have a desire to take care of themselves and
their surroundings and those adults should not serve children as it will ultimately hurt their self esteem
and growth.
A Waldorf philosophy focuses on children as active learners who should not be rushed through their
developmental stages. They are seen as capable, active learners.
Froebel classrooms believe that younger children should be taught much differently than older
children and that through play, they can develop intellectually, spiritually and socially. He believed
that children should be protected from outside influences in a safe and nurturing environment.
Physical Environment
Other differences in the classrooms occur in the physical environment and set up of the space. All four
of these methods believe in including child friendly and developmentally appropriate materials, but
the approach to classroom set up varies.
A Waldorf classroom has the goal of being an extension of the home. The colours are warm and
homey and it is designed to feel like home to the children. The use of natural materials is also a

Cultural Differences Between Sharia And Shaday
Different Cultures
The culture that I belong to is Christianity. What is Christianity? Well it is Abrahamic monotheistic
religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ as presented in the New Testament. Every
Sunday or every other Sunday my family and I go to church, and come back to cook Sunday dinner. I
was given the opportunity to study two different cultures that is different from mines. I had to find
someone fast, and that I did. I interviewed two of my coworkers from work on their culture. Afia is
from Libya, and Shaday is from Belize.
Before doing this project, I had known about these different places, but not a lot.
The first person I interviewed was Afia. The first question that I asked was, in Libya what is their
language? She told me she speaks Arabic, and it is main language spoken in Libya. Then I asked how
they greet each other. The handshake is commonly used, and you have to shake hands at the ... Show

been based on sharia law, though it wasn t always this way. Sharia law is derived from both the Qu ran

despite the Constitutional Proclamation issued in 1969. One interest fact that I found really good

Army Musket
Throughout history the United States Army has undergone a plethora of changes. Since its inception in
1776 ever this has evolved from personnel, to rank structure, even the uniforms but the one piece of
equipment that has seen the most change has been the weaponry; more specifically the small arms
issued to individual soldiers. Small arms used by American forces in the Revolution were many and
varied, however at the beginning of the war the British Short Land Service Musket, often referred to
as the Brown Bess, was perhaps the most common musket on hand. In 1777, the French allied
themselves with the American cause and began sending arms and equipment. After the revolutionary

Vietnam, reports of jamming and malfunctions in combat immediately began to surface. Some
additional improvements were made but the rifle s reputation continued to suffer. Moreover,
complaints about the inadequate penetration and stopping power of the 5.56mm cartridge persisted

The Americans With Disabilities Act Essay
All Americans deserve the right to receive the best medical treatment available, that includes those
with disabilities. So what is ADA? What makes it so essential? ADA may seem like just a couple
letters from the alphabet, although to a person that has a disability it means a whole lot more. ADA
stands for Americans with Disabilities Act.
The Americans with Disabilities Act is extremely vital in the medical field. Not only is it the law to
ensure that there is appropriate access to those with disabilities, on the other hand it is also medically
necessary to treat all patients. The Americans with Disabilities Act was founded in 1990 and it is
designed to protect against discrimination of those with disabilities,(Jacobs, R.B Lauber, R.H, 2011).
In the Americans with Disabilities Act, disability is defined as: (1) a physical or mental impairment
that significantly limits one or more major life activities, (2) having a record of such impairment, or
(3) being regarded as having an impairment, (Bernstein,S.K,2014). It is exceptionally crucial that all
business comply with all the rules and regulations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, if failed to
implement those rules there will be penalties to pay. The Americans with Disabilities Act, especially
applies to health facilities, be that as it may it also applies to all businesses with 15 or more
employees, (Lindh, W. 2014). The Americans with Disabilities Act protects patients or consumers with

Traders and The Silk Road
Throughout history roads and routes has been an important means of transportation to the world. In
today s society roads connect us to different cities, and used for shipping valuables. Human beings
constantly use these routes as a way to trade their product repeating what others have done throughout
history. The Silk Road was one of the main routes used for trading valuables and merchandise. The
road stretched from China and along the Mediterranean Sea being used by mankind for thousands of
years. This trade route revolutionized our understanding of the connections between different regions
of Asia. In return the valuables and goods enhance the importance of the Silk Road. Each type of
contact with every encounter has a connection from the various artworks. The Silk Road carried many
products; however, the most valuable product was Silk. Traders were confused about this mysterious
product because of the limited knowledge and the unknown producer. The culture behind this popular
product was the Chinese, who kept silk as a secret for thousands of years. According to legends Lady
Hsi Ling Shih, who was given the title of Silk Goddess, founded silk when a silkworm capsule fell
from a tree into her tea. This lead to the discovery of silk began and China gathering and producing

[The Credit Agreement]

1. Amount and Terms of the Loans; Letters of Credit
2. Understanding Loan Tranches and Mechanics (Credit Agreement)
3. Tranches of Loans
A borrower will generally have various financing needs for its business, some of which may be more
appropriately met with a revolving credit facility and others more appropriately met with a term loan
facility. Revolving credit facilities permit the borrower to borrow, repay and reborrow loans from time
to time during the life of the credit facility, up to an agreed cap amount, so long as the conditions to
each borrowing are met. Term loan facilities are generally drawn all at once and may not be
reborrowed once repaid. For a borrower s ongoing business operations, a revolving facility that allows
it to borrow and repay as needed may make more sense than receiving a one time term loan, while a
borrower may want a term loan to fund an acquisition where they will need to have the full purchase
price available on the acquisition date.
In many financing transactions the borrower will want access to both a revolving facility and a term
loan. For example, to finance an acquisition, the borrower will likely want a term loan to finance all,
or a portion of, the purchase price for the target company and after the acquisition, the borrower will
likely need a revolving facility for working capital. To meet these needs, credit agreements and
facilities are often divided into multiple tranches each

History of South Africa
South Africans had been living under the system of apartheid since 1948 where citizens were divided
by race and kept separate through certain system of laws which governed all aspects of daily life.
Even though black people were in majority they were denied the right to vote in National elections.
The educational system was designed not to educate young blacks into professionals but to prepare
them to serve white upper class. Apartheid went further to divide the schools into racial groups
therefore the white schools were so advantaged within resources compared to the black schools within
the town of Soweto. Government also insisted that the Afrikaans language be used as the medium in
all local schools which created enormous distress amongst black students. Many divisions between
black and white took place in society. The black people found themselves infuriated by the fact that
they were slaves in their own country of birth.
It was back in 1962 that Nelson Mandela that the leader of the anti apartheid movement was arrested
and his political party the African National Congress were banned by Government. The African
National Congress then chose to ignore Government and continued with their movements over the
next two years. Finally government had to use brutal action against the anti apartheid command which
brought the entire movement to a complete standstill.
Shortly after this standstill the young students in the township of Soweto Johannesburg managed to

Tornado Wind Poem
Furthermore, in the fourth portion of the poem shows the speakers obligations to maintain her
freedom. In stanza four the speaker then states, I am a tornado child born in the whirl of clouds; the
center crumbled then I came. My lovers know the blast of my chaotic, giving that they tremble at the
whip of my supple thighs; you cross me at your peril, I swallow light when the warmth of anger lashes
me into a spin, the pine trees bend to me swept in my gyrations... (Lines 16 22). The speaker discusses
his sexual encounters in lines sixteen through twenty two with the Rosalie Richardson. The speaker
explains how to maintain a sense of freedom through sexuality, which was one of the ways that black
southerners maintained their freedom. The last lines of the poem which is in stanza five states, I am a
tornado child. When the spirit takes my head, I hurtle into the vacuum of white sheets billowing and
paint a swirl of color, treaked with my many songs (23 26). According to the text, stanza five just
outlines the seemingly purposeless nature of Rosalie s life. The speaker becomes creative by adding
the use of colors to describe the tone and Rosalie s feeling throughout the poem. The speaker uses
white to describe Rosalie life as a blank canvas and the swirl of color shows how she is open to
various cultures, which are greatly influenced by Dawes because he is exposed to numerous cultures.
While freedom is manifested in Dawes s poem, hopelessness is shown in Brooks poem. Therefore, in
Brooks poem We Real Cool, wickedness is defined through hopelessness. Throughout the poem
darkness manifests itself as the narrator discusses a group of teenagers that s all about living wild and
dying young because of hopelessness. The narrator starts off by displaying that they seem like they are
content with the alternative lifestyle that they outline throughout the poem, but that defiant mood
abruptly ends at the last line, when their demise seems to be an effect of all the responsibility they had
been putting off over the years. The poem describes the men s fears, their motivations, and who they
think they are, as opposed to who they really are. The first part of the poem begins with, We real cool.

names of the merging components or a totally new name operates as a new entity. The new rule under

They turn all the energies that went into competition before to promote their joint product together. In
my view, this kind of combination is easier than others since the two merging groups already

In December 1, 1988, the Exxon and Mobil oil companies announced their intent to carry out a
horizontal combination valued at approximately $80 billion. (CNN Money, 1998). The aim of this
combination was to Create an oil entity rivaling the biggest in the world . The two chief executives
Exxon s Lee Raymond and Mobil s Lucio Noto announced then that the main motive of their merger
was to compete more effectively in the face of sharp drops in oil prices. One objective the bigger
company was set to achieve would be to cut costs of operation so as to maximize profit. Industry
analysts also said that it was a good prospect for the two firms to merge since many organizations at

Effects Of The Monroe Doctrine
The Monroe Doctrine was established by U.S. president James Monroe and the U.S. secretary of state
John Quincy Adams. Their plan of the Monroe Doctrine represented a solid line where the Americans
will no longer tolerate interference from European powers in any way shape or form. For the most
part, America was minding its own business until Imperialism started booming in the late 1800 s.
Latin America was less developed and America saw South and Central America as perfect candidates
to extract resources and sell U.S. goods. The culture of capitalism was on the rise. The start of
Manifest Destiny began to construct U.S. foreign policy which led to America reaching towards the
Caribbean and Latin America to expand.
Firstly, If God and mission was the road to Manifest Destiny, Imperialism was the light that shined
bright to lead the way (Lubragge). America started off by investing in businesses and land all around
Latin America. Imperialism led to the U.S. taking over the Philippines, Guam, and Puerto Rico via the
Spanish American War (Lubragge). America was under the impression they were safeguarding the
world from Spanish oppression and began sculpting expansionist policies. The Spanish American War
put an end to Spain s colonial empire in the region and gave the United States complete control of the
Pacific. The U.S. victory led to a peace treaty between the U.S. and Spain, which gave all claims of

Civil Service Reform Analysis
The Founders of the United States had strongly feared a tyrant government rising to power again after
the American revolution; therefore, they adopted The Constitution of the United States in the
eighteenth century. The Constitution had offered citizens many basic liberties and protections from an
overreaching and powerful government, it did not, however, offer a civil service system for the
government to follow based upon merit. According to Naff, Riccucci, Freyss, Although a civil service
has been long feature of the government, a career civil service based upon merit had, until the
twentieth century, been a historical novelty (2014, p. 4). Thus, reform efforts of the American civil
service system can be dated back to the very beginning of when the United States was first formed
(Naff et al., 2014). Why were demands of reform so necessary in the very beginning of the United
States as it was just being formed? The seventh president of the United States, Andrew Jackson had

Arthur would become the next President and properly reward him for his efforts (Naff et al., 2014). It
became clear that the Spoils System possessed many dangers and reform was desperately needed.
Therefore, according to Naff et al., On January 16, 1883, President Arthur signed the Pendleton Act

  • 2. The Nations Be Glad, By John Piper In his work Let the Nations Be Glad, John Piper seeks to argue that the ultimate goal of God in all of history is to uphold and display his glory for the enjoyment of the redeemed from every tribe and tongue and people and nation (255). Piper begins his work by offering a thorough critique of the prosperity gospel and the dangerous effect that gospel has on missions. By claiming that the prosperity gospel undermines believer s covenantal witness, minimizes godliness, makes little of the spiritual battle that is raging, and undercuts the gospel s assurance that followers of Jesus will endure suffering, Piper appeals to those who proclaim this gospel to cease, as it harms the mission of the church. From there, the author proceeds to emphasize the supremacy of God in the work of missions by outlining the importance of God s supremacy through worship, through prayer, through suffering, of Christ as the conscious focus of all saving faith, and among all nations. He concludes by exhorting readers to go forth in missions with a proper compassion for man s souls and focusing on fostering deep inward worship. Piper claims that Mission is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is (35). As a result of this, believers should be captive by the idea that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him (50). This is the epitome of worship, complete satisfaction in Jesus. Because of this, believers should be driven not only to, but to pray, as missions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. All The Shah s Men All the Shah s Men by Stephen Kinzer details the 1953 American orchestrated coup in Iran. Iran was under British economic control, but as it modernized, Iranians began fighting for their own control. Their fledgling democracy was working to modernize, until the UK and the US decided to interfere to protect Britain s colonial holdings from Soviet influence. Because the US was not interested in protecting a British business, British politicians emphasized the threat the USSR held to Iran, leading to Americans inserting themselves into a nation s politics in which they had no place. They successfully orchestrated a coup, however, the negative, long term, anti Western results overwhelm any positive effect. All the Shah s Men by Stephen Kinzer paints a picture of the results of action without adequate attention to future results. All the Shah s Men details the Iranian coup of 1953. The British, as a colonial power, ran the Anglo Iranian Oil Company, which provided much of the oil Britain needed during World War II. Not only that, but it provided large amounts of revenue for the nation. Meanwhile, the Iranians were not benefiting from the arrangement, as the British mistreated the Iranian workers and paid only a minute amount of the profits to the Iranian government. A politician, Mossadegh, arose who would work to nationalize Iranian oil production, taking away economic and political power from the British. • 6. Current Educational Status Of Children With Disabilities... Current educational status of children with disabilities Differing combinations of structural factors (such as caste, gender, religion, poverty etc.) intersect with disability resulting in varied individual experiences, but the broad commonalities that shape the lives of people with disabilities in India transcend these divisions. Their lives are largely marked by poverty and marginalisation from mainstream social processes. A recent study by the World Bank (2007), for example, noted that children with disability are five times more likely to be out of school than children belonging to scheduled castes or scheduled tribes (SC or ST). Moreover, when children with disability do attend school they rarely progress beyond the primary level, leading ultimately to lower employment chances and long term income poverty. Government documents also describe marked variations in the provisions envisaged for different marginalised groups. Historically, SCs/STs have had a strong political lobby since independence and this is reflected in the provisions made for them. Article 46 of the Constitution makes a straightforward commitment to promoting the special care and education of SC/ST populations, whereas Article 41 referring to children with disabilities, states: The State shall within the limits of its economic capacity and development make effective provision for securing the right to work, old age, sickness and disablement. Essay about Parents Hitting Their Children Parents Hitting Their Children For this coursework, I will be looking at whether parents should be allowed to hit their children or children that are being looked after by them. Like most questions there are usually two sides to the argument. The 1st reason why parents should be allowed to hit their kids is to enforce a form of discipline. The other reason why hitting children is bad is because by hitting a child, they may be emotionally scared for life. • 14. Ancient Greek Athletics, By Stephen G. Miller Essay Stephen G. Miller, the author of Ancient Greek Athletics and many other academic writings lived a very astounding life. Miller spent a great portion of his life traveling between the United States and Greece. He went to school to become an archaeologist and afterwards became a professor at Berkeley and the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Miller was driven by Plato s love for his work; however, he faced a minor setback when he realized Plato s language was beyond what he could understand. He then decided to change his studies to archaeology because of his new found love for amazing indoor and outdoor work. Miller had a unique perspective on ancient Olympic games because he directed excavations for multiple years at one of the Panhellenic sanctuary sites. He has written dozens of academic books along with children s books, therefore I was excited to read this authors rendition of the earliest Olympic Games. Miller s purpose for writing the book Ancient Greek Athletics is to teach the audience about ancient Greek Games and how this important subject can teach us more about our own world. He accomplishes this goal by using the artifacts he has studied along with the history itself to guide the audience in their journey toward appreciating Greek heritage. In this book, Miller addresses the Olympic Games that began more than twenty five hundred years ago. If you are considering this option for your dogs, check with your vet before doing anything, as your dog may need to have sulfate, HCL or 2KCL glucosamine. • 23. Investigating The Amount Of Calcium On The Calcium Oxide... Discussion: The purpose of this lab was to calculate the amount of calcium in Kirkland Signature s Calcium 600mg +D3 through the processes of vacuum filtration and acid base titration. These two methods were effective in determining the amount of calcium in the calcium supplement with an error of +/ 0.05 g; the amount of calcium stated on the label was 600 mg. The reactions that occurred during the process of vacuum filtration were: CaCO3 (s) + 2HCl(aq) → CaCl2 (aq) +CO2 (g) + H2O(l) CaCl2(aq) + Na2CO3(aq) → CaCO3(s) +2NaCl(aq) The amounts of calcium calculated from the two trials of vacuum filtration were 0.554 g and 0.573 g respectively. The calculations from the trials are shown in Equation 2 and Equation 3. The results from the vacuum filtration were very close to the amount stated on the bottle. The small deviation from the original could be the result of inadequately removing all of the ground powder from the mortar and pestle. This caused the original mass of the supplement to be less than what was expected, hence the smaller final amount. There was a small difference in the procedures between the two trials of vacuum filtration. During the second trial, more care and attention was given to make sure that the entire calcium supplement was transferred from the mortar and pestle to the 250 mL Erlenmeyer flask. Because more care was given, the calculated amount of calcium increased by 0.019 g. The other method used in this lab was an acid base titration. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Understanding Loan Tranches and Mechanics (Credit Agreement) 3. Tranches of Loans A borrower will generally have various financing needs for its business, some of which may be more appropriately met with a revolving credit facility and others more appropriately met with a term loan facility. Revolving credit facilities permit the borrower to borrow, repay and reborrow loans from time to time during the life of the credit facility, up to an agreed cap amount, so long as the conditions to each borrowing are met. Term loan facilities are generally drawn all at once and may not be reborrowed once repaid. For a borrower s ongoing business operations, a revolving facility that allows it to borrow and repay as needed may make more sense than receiving a one time term loan, while a borrower may want a term loan to fund an acquisition where they will need to have the full purchase price available on the acquisition date. In many financing transactions the borrower will want access to both a revolving facility and a term loan. For example, to finance an acquisition, the borrower will likely want a term loan to finance all, or a portion of, the purchase price for the target company and after the acquisition, the borrower will likely need a revolving facility for working capital. To meet these needs, credit agreements and facilities are often divided into multiple tranches each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

History of South Africa South Africans had been living under the system of apartheid since 1948 where citizens were divided by race and kept separate through certain system of laws which governed all aspects of daily life. Even though black people were in majority they were denied the right to vote in National elections. The educational system was designed not to educate young blacks into professionals but to prepare them to serve white upper class. Apartheid went further to divide the schools into racial groups therefore the white schools were so advantaged within resources compared to the black schools within the town of Soweto. Government also insisted that the Afrikaans language be used as the medium in all local schools which created enormous distress amongst black students. Many divisions between black and white took place in society. The black people found themselves infuriated by the fact that they were slaves in their own country of birth. It was back in 1962 that Nelson Mandela that the leader of the anti apartheid movement was arrested and his political party the African National Congress were banned by Government. The African National Congress then chose to ignore Government and continued with their movements over the next two years. Finally government had to use brutal action against the anti apartheid command which brought the entire movement to a complete standstill. (Lines 16 22). The speaker discusses his sexual encounters in lines sixteen through twenty two with the Rosalie Richardson. The speaker explains how to maintain a sense of freedom through sexuality, which was one of the ways that black southerners maintained their freedom. The last lines of the poem which is in stanza five states, I am a tornado child. When the spirit takes my head, I hurtle into the vacuum of white sheets billowing and paint a swirl of color, treaked with my many songs (23 26). According to the text, stanza five just outlines the seemingly purposeless nature of Rosalie s life. The speaker becomes creative by adding the use of colors to describe the tone and Rosalie s feeling throughout the poem. The speaker uses white to describe Rosalie life as a blank canvas and the swirl of color shows how she is open to various cultures, which are greatly influenced by Dawes because he is exposed to numerous cultures. While freedom is manifested in Dawes s poem, hopelessness is shown in Brooks poem. Therefore, in Brooks poem We Real Cool, wickedness is defined through hopelessness. Throughout the poem darkness manifests itself as the narrator discusses a group of teenagers that s all about living wild and dying young because of hopelessness. The narrator starts off by displaying that they seem like they are content with the alternative lifestyle that they outline throughout the poem, but that defiant mood abruptly ends at the last line, when their demise seems to be an effect of all the responsibility they had been putting off over the years. The poem describes the men s fears, their motivations, and who they think they are, as opposed to who they really are. The first part of the poem begins with, We real cool. We Left school (Lines ...
