Reflection Of The Movie Mivtza Savta
Mivtza Savta
The movie Mivtza Savta is based on a true story and follows the story of three brothers: Alon
(Krembo), Benni, and Idan. The brothers grew up in Kibbutz Asisim in the Negev, but have since left
the Kibbutz. Alon has returned to live in the Kibbutz because of his stationing in the Israeli Army.
They all live their lives and work in their jobs until their grandmother Haya dies. This is also the
moment where the most touted line of the movie is said: savta Haya meta . It is then that Dvora, the
Kibbutz secretary informed the brothers that the Kibbutz will not take care of the arrangements for the
funeral and it is up to the brother to bury their grandmother. This is the subject the movie revolves
around: how to bury savta Haya in a day so that Elon can execute his newly approved military plan
makat shemesh that he has been working on for so long. Before I can summarize the rest of the movie,
it is important to know the characters. Alon is the oldest brother. He is in a classified position in the
Israeli Army. Since he left the Kibbutz when he grew up, he lives there as an external resident (toshav
huts). He receives the name Krembo, an Israeli snack only available in the winter, by stealing all the
Krembos from the Kibbutz Kitchen. In order to avoid punishment, even though everyone knew it was
him, he ate 500 Krembos in half an hour. Krembo is the brains behind the operation of burring
grandmother Haya. He conducts the mission as a military operation,

Essay about The Independence of Spainish Colonies in America
The Spanish empire in the Americas faced huge political, social and economic problems in the
sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The empire was stretched to its limit politically and socially with
the threat of an uprising from the slave population in its empire. The economy also played a major role
and the outlook was just as bleak for Spain with the American colonies drifting towards independence.
Spain did not seem able to cope with its empire and had found itself in trouble with regards to mining
which was at the centre of political and social systems, the military and the empire s economic
activity. By 1600, mining which was integral to Spain s prosperity and growth, was under a huge
amount of pressure. This pressure was caused by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the economy of the Americas relied heavily on mining there was also a large emphasis on
agricultural development and manufacturing in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. However, the
development of agricultural during these two centuries led to further economic turmoil within the
Americas. The agricultural system was changed from the traditional Indian subsistence agriculture to
commercial crops and plantations. This change in agriculture led to the formation of latifundios and
minifundios which were not as self sufficient as the traditional Indian subsistence farming. The sugar
boom meant that the agricultural system in place led to a loss of Indian land and water rights.
Venezuela became the centre of the Americas agricultural economy, due to its success of farming
cacao in the central valleys and also due to its livestock. However, the success of its livestock meant
that large and intrusive estancias or ranches were constructed. This was especially true in the Pampas
region of South America, which brought in development of a previously undeveloped and unspoilt
region.
The Americas move towards independence was slowly picking up pace as a result of its success in
manufacturing. For example, wine within the Americas was now

Prevention And Treatment Of Periodontal Disease
Introduction
Periodontal disease is one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases and is also the second
most frequent cause of tooth loss among adults. The toxins produced by bacteria stimulate an
inflammatory response in which the body turns upon itself and results in the supporting tissues of the
teeth being progressively destroyed. Periodontal disease is multifactorial and susceptibility is
dependent on the composition of individual s microflora together with specific local and systemic risk
factors. Local risk factors include any plaque retentive features which hinders plaque removal such as
crowding, calculus, overhangs and orthodontic appliance. Systemic risk factors include diabetes,
genetic and smoking. Smoking is an important risk factor for the initiation and progression of
periodontal diseases and a number of researches have demonstrated the detrimental effect of smoking
on patient s periodontal status as well as their response to periodontal treatment.
Content of cigarette
Smoking has widespread systemic effects as it contains over 4000 toxic chemicals including Benzene,
Formaldehyde and Ammonia. Benzene is a solvent used in making fuel, Formaldehyde is used to
preserve dead bodies and Ammonia can be found in cleaning fluids. There are also potent carcinogens
such as Nitrosamines and Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The component of inhaled smoke
includes nicotine, carbon monoxide and tar. Nicotine has numerous effects such as increasing blood

Essay on Important Elements Of A Campaign Strategy
Important Elements of a Campaign Strategy
Campaigning for any type of elected office requires a sharp eye for detail in regard to what voters are
looking for in a candidate. A campaign strategy should be comprehensive in its efforts to reach as
many voters as possible. Yet, without a solid base of ideas from which to expand upon, the message
being conveyed can easily be lost or taken out of context. In order for a campaign manager to avoid
this blunder from occurring and maximize the candidate s chances of victory, he or she must pay
attention to a few basic campaigning elements before attempting to stretch the campaign to its
maximum visibility. First, the campaign manager must identify the important ... Show more content on

Still, it is vital for a candidate at any level to develop a grasp of the different groups that will decide
his or her fate. As stated earlier, this dimension of the campaign process is primarily dealt with before
the campaign commences. Once completed, the popular definition of the word campaign takes form.
Conveying a message to the voters in the form of speeches, advertisement, and public appearances is
the primary objective of a political campaign. This lets the public know what any given candidate can
offer them if elected to office. The simplest manner in which to convey whatever message is to
incorporate it into a campaign theme. quot;It is a serious mistake to assume that voters are paying
close attention to your election, or any election quot; (Shea 1996,
148). The fact is that most voters do not go out of their way to make the right voting choice. All a
voter wants is a quick and simple reason to vote for a candidate. If every voter researched the possible
candidates before each election, campaigning would be obsolete. The political campaign serves as a
vehicle to inform voters. The best and most effective way for a candidate to do this is with a campaign
theme. A campaign theme should be general in nature.
It should be an idea that a large group can grab hold of. If the theme selected is too precise, it portrays
the candidate as narrow minded. Simply put, the broader a theme is, the more voters it attracts (Shea

Standardized Testing Are A Waste Of Time Essay
Standardized Test Are a Waste of Time According to Diane Ravitch, Sometimes, the most brilliant and
intelligent minds do not shine in standardized tests because they do not have standardized minds. Her
point is that not every students mind operates the same way, so one test that all students must take
does not measure the student s actually abilities. Across the United States, standardized testing is a
popular method used to measure a student s academic ability and their college admission. These
exams have multiple choice questions and sometimes a writing section, which the examiners must
complete in a certain amount of time. Every year the tests get harder and harder, which causes anxiety
in the students. Standardized testing does not measure the skills students have learned and their
intelligence from school and life. The main purpose of testing is to set a standard and have a baseline
for the knowledge taught and students should know for everyone involved in the educational process,
such as teachers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schools should put more emphasis on the growth and development of a student, instead of ranking and
determining their worth based on test scores and grades. Standardized exams are an unreliable way to
grade students and prepare them for college. In addition, they do not teach or advocate life skills that
students need when they are developing and later on in life. As Albert Einstein has said, Everybody is
a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it
is stupid. Einstein s quote perfectly describes today s education system. Not everyone processes
information the same way or has the same talents; therefore, one test cannot measure a student s

Research Paper On Phobias
Living With Phobias
Nothing to fear, but fear itself a famous quote from the inaugural address of former U.S. President
Franklin D. Roosevelt.
About phobias Of course fear is sometims something that takes over our imaginations and suddenly it
seems that every little sound makes us jump. We can get over our fears and control them if we just
have the willpower. The problem of getting over fears occurs if we have a phobia or phobias. If you
look up the word phobias you ll find that in the Wikipedia is tells you that these are most commonly
the result of a combination of external events and internal predispositions . External events are

Why? Try saying it or try writing it. I had a problem with both. The fear of long words is
Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia/ Sesquipedalophobia. If that isn t a mouthful I don t know
what is. If you haven t been discouraged to know more this awful word has 35 letters in it. It comes
from the root word sesquipedalian long word and the words hippopotamus and monsters have been
added to make it really seem terrible. This phobia is thought to stem from frightening experiences with
vocabulary or spelling bees during childhood and the difficulty to memorize or mentally process
multisyllabic words. It is suggested that perhaps people who have come to rely on modern technology
and have stopped reading might in some form develop this phobia. Now that alone is a scary thought.
That is why I am still friends with all of my books and I know that nothing can replace the feel and
smell of a real book in my hand. Just knowing about this phobia I will continue to read the old
fashioned way. I remember an incident in school when I was faced with having to spell the word
Mississippi. All of those double letters resulted in a bad case of the hiccups. Luckily no phobia

American Legion Experience Essay
I have learned many lessons in my time that will help guide me through my life. However, I think one
experience that will definitely stick with me forever is attending Missouri Boys State. At Boys State,
our motto was, A Week To Change A Lifetime, and it truly was. We learned about integrity, honesty,
pride, and what it means to be in the American Legion. We also learned about the political system and
how our government works by making our own government. Boys State is a program run by the
American Legion. The American Legion is a group of veterans that still believe in the values of the
military. Boys State is a week where high school juniors from Missouri go to learn good values and
run their own mock government. During my week in Warrensburg, MO, I learned ... Show more

We had a different speaker every night, each talking about different values and how they expect to see
us in leadership positions in about 20 years. Jay Nixon is probably my most memorable speaker
because he had a lot of stories that talked about the lessons he learned in his life and his political
career.
Lastly, the best learning experience was the Law School where we learned the basics of law. During
this week, I learned all about the law and how it applies to each individual citizen. I learned all of the
basic vernacular and proceedings in a courtroom, along with an actual court case that we watched live.
During this time, I learned a lot that will always be of use to me whenever I need it to be.
Missouri Boys State was a great learning period for me. I learned a lot about myself and government.
The lessons I learned will stick with me forever and the friends I made will be there for the rest of my
life. I think that anyone that wants to learn and be a better person should go to Boys

Rudyard Kipling s `` If `` And Not Make Dreams Your...
In his poem If , Rudyard Kipling explains all the things that one must endure in order to become a
gentleman. Kipling describes what would happen if you can dream and not make dreams your master
that one would be a Man. The qualities that Kipling describes show a stoic person, but not someone
who is flashy. The person describes can take the good with the bad they can meet with Triumph and
Disaster and treat those two impostors just the same while keep[ing] their head [about them]. A Man
can force your heart and nerve and sinew.. and so hold on when there is nothing in you . A Man will
embrace the things that make life worth living. He will recover quickly from his losses, knowing that
he can learn from them. Another quality that Kipling emphasizes is willpower, that the Will which
says to them! Hold on! Trust in life and that everything will work out is also a quality that one must
have to be a Gentleman, and to really embrace life. To attain this wisdom and outlook on life, one
must have had experience with at least a portion of life, having the necessary experience to draw from
mistakes and repeat the actions one showed in triumphs. Even though life is not fair and one has no
idea why he is being punished, one must take it gracefully and accept the absence of such a reason as
part of the grand design of life and humankind. But the essence of If is that if one can embrace the
challenges and absurdity that life throws at oneself, then one can succeed and

The Media And Federal Government
Mental and Social Disorder
One in every seventeen people in America suffers from a mental disorder. These disorders inhibit the
afflicted person from functioning properly and coping normally with daily life. Many afflicted with a
psychological disorder do not exhibit obvious symptoms, as medical advancements have made it
possible for these disorders to be suppressed or even nonexistent. Today, however, harsh stigmas exist
that unfairly categorize those with a mental illness as violent, unfriendly, and abnormal. The media
and federal government are culprits in fabricating the unrealistic depictions of mental disability that
define the portrayal of those who are mentally or psychologically disadvantaged.
The media is and has been one of the strongest outlets of perpetuating negative mental illness
stereotypes. Since the invention of the television and its spread to every American household by the
1960s, television shows have manufactured an image of the mentally disabled as dangerous and
unpredictable . The shows depict the mentally ill as very violent; One in four mentally ill characters
kill someone, and half are portrayed as hurting others . The ways in which mentally disabled are
filmed within a show also differs from the ways that non disabled characters are shot. Studies show
that they are usually filmed alone with close up or extreme shots, reinforcing their isolation and
dislocation from the other characters and from society. In movies, like One Flew Over the

Many states view collecting use tax on smaller purchases as burdensome, therefore states have
customarily attempted to collect a use tax only on big ticket items that require licenses such as cars
and boats. Many states over the last several years are increasing enforcement efforts of the use tax
laws to get the state population to pay the taxes due in an attempt to combat internet ordering. The
realities of limited resources as well as the complexities involved with tracking down minor purchases
and demanding that a use tax be paid are limiting the collection efforts.
In the 1992 decision, Quill v. North Dakota, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that retailers are exempt
from collecting sales taxes in states where they have no physical presence, with physical presence
defined by example such as a store, office, or warehouse. The specifics of this case deal with a catalog
mail order company, however, the ruling has been far reaching and has been applied to all remote
sellers, including online retailers. The Court stated requiring companies to comply with the varied
sales tax rules and regulations of 45 states and some 7,500 different local taxing jurisdictions would
burden interstate commerce.
In its ruling, the Court specifically noted that Congress has the authority to change this policy and
could enact legislation requiring all retailers to collect sales taxes without running

Firstly, the lab was done within a period of 75 minutes. Time efficiency was a factor that could have
been more accurate when creating competent cells. Competent cells are able to take in extra foreign
DNA. The procedure involved timing for series of events. Events such as: both tubes on the ice for 10
minutes, both tubes in the bath for 50 seconds, both tubes on ice for 2 minutes and both tubes at room
temperature for 10 minutes. All of these events could have been done with greater precision. Some of
the tubes may have been exposed to their given environment over or under the necessary time frame.
A source of error is that the ice blocks were not consistent. The procedure asked for crushed ice and
ice cubes were used in the experiment. This could have had an effect on the temperature needed for
the creation of competent cells. On the other hand, an improvement that could be made is pipetting.
0.25mL of CaCl2 solution was put into both tubes using an open pipette. But, it was possible for a
mistake to occur with the chance of air bubbles or imprecision to the required amount. This would
affect the amount of the CaCl2 solution that was needed by under or over pipetting into each of the
two test tubes. Lastly, a source of error may be how spread the substances were amongst the plate. The
greater the distance spread around the surface of the plate, the possibility of more growth and less

Political Spectacle Analysis
Exercise 1: Political Spectacle Asha McWilliams In Constructing the Political Spectacle, Edelman
outlines the elements with which politicians manipulate the public to meet their goals. In his 2018

analysis will discuss how President Trump address three elements of the political spectacle: the
construction of enemies and leaders, the use of problems and solutions, and the manipulation of the

Mr Cunningham, a man under the legal aids of Atticus, leads a furious mob with the intention to lynch

Heredity and Hormones Effect on Behavior Essay
Human behavior has been a mystery to scientists and psychologists for years. What causes humans to
act the way they do? Is it learned by experience, or inherited from prior generations? The human brain
is a complex machine driven by numerous intangibles that influence our thinking process directly and
indirectly.
The endocrine system in the human body stores a chemical known as hormones. Hormones are
released by endocrine glands into the bloodstream and travel throughout the body carrying messages.
A hormonal impulse is similar to a nerve impulse only much slower. The messages carried by the
hormones trigger different behaviors. Hormones can affect behavior in many ways such as: Mental
activity or tiredness, boredom or excitement, sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both glands produce two distinct hormones, but produce differing amounts of each hormone.
Masculine hormones such as androgens and testosterone are predominately produced by male testes.
These hormones at high levels can be related to aggressive behavior regardless of sex, but high levels
are most commonly found in males. High levels of feminine hormones or estrogen, most commonly
found in females, have recently been linked to aggressive behavior as well. While high levels of
estrogen in females and high levels of testosterone in males have been linked to aggressive behavior,
normal levels of these hormones have been known to cause aggression as well. Although these
hormones have been related to human behavior, scientists have concluded that these hormones alone
do not dictate behavior (Morris Maisto, 2005).
Adrenal glands, located near the kidneys, secrete several hormones that are activated by the nervous
system. These hormones dictate the body s reaction to stressful situations. Each person secretes a
different amount of hormones, therefore affecting behavior in stressful situations differently (Morris
Maisto, 2005).
Behavior is party affected by human hormones present in the body built from genetic traits inherited
from the individual s parents. The genetic makeup of an individual combined with a certain
environment, can affect behavior. Genetics is the science of analyzing traits inherited through
generations. These traits are determined by genes that

Bilingual Education And Multiculturalism
First, it is important to identify two main types of bilingual education; transitional and maintenance.
Transitional means the primary focus is on learning the dominant language, while drifting apart from
the minority language. On the other hand, maintenance deals with maintaining and developing the L1
while also trying to learn the dominant language (Hidden Curriculum, 2014). The main focus of
maintenance is to help the child maintain their cultural identity while also trying to help them learn the
minority language while living in a society that is prevalent in that specific language (Hidden
Curriculum, 2014). Now that we have had the chance to talk about bilingual education and talk about
two important aspects of bilingual education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This case led to the next crucial case in 1982, which was the Plyer v. Doe. The Supreme Court ruled
that undocumented children cannot be denied access to education solely on the basis of their
immigration status (Noel, 2008). The U. S. Supreme Court felt as though children who were not able
to receive education and who were denied the right to education would be drastically harmed
throughout their lifetime which is why this case was passed. Many of these undocumented citizens
came from Mexico, primarily from Texas and California. The two cases set the stage for immigration
into the United States. Prior to these two cases, many people were turned away because they knew
little to know English and were seen useless in the United States. This goes against multiculturalism
because these minority groups were not treated with the same respect and were viewed as inferior to
the dominant culture which was English. Now that we have some background history on the
immigration and refugee status it is important to talk about the political trends against bilingual
education and multiculturalism that exist today. The first topic that will be introduced is the DREAM
Act (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act). The Dream Act allows current,
former and future undocumented high school graduates and GED recipients a three step pathway to
US citizenship through college, work or the armed forces (The Dream Act, n.d.). One important aspect
through the DREAM act is

Income Inequality
Income inequality Name Date Abstract In any given population, there is a difference between what
people within the population earn. The uneven distribution of income in any given population is
income inequality. In order for there to be income, there has to be several sources of income. These
sources of income may be combinational or independent per person receiving the income. Income
may result from wages, rent, bank account interests, salaries or even profits made in business
transactions ( Stiglitz, 2012). In his hypothesis, Karl Marx foresaw income inequality in a capitalistic
as a major problem that would lead to an economic evolution. The main reason he foresaw an
evolution was due to the recurrent nature of income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Classification of what causes inequality lies in two different classes in a broader sense, which are;
individual causes, or external conditions leading to income inequality ( Rousseau, 1992). In simpler
wording, the causes of inequality lie within endogenous causes and exogenous conditions.
Endogenous causes of income inequality Endogenous causes are those causes that are unique and
attached to an individual s characteristic. These characteristics lie in the ability of an individual to
produce more than other individuals hence earning more than other individuals in the same market.
These characteristics include better qualifications in carrying out a given job or other uncommon
attributes that make the individual more valuable in the market place. The most common
individualistic abilities sought after in the market include intelligence, charisma, personality and
physical agility. An example of an individualistic attribute in use is intelligence, in the modern market,
IQ tests used in measuring a person s intelligence directly reflects on the earning capability of that
person. A person with a very high intelligence quotient is likely to end up making more money in the
job market as opposed to a person with a poor intelligence quotient. Another endogenous cause for
income inequality is individualistic

Sympathy And The Boston Massacre
Points of views are majorly impacted by different words, actions and even locations. This is important
in order to understand all the sides of a story. Meaning, that on March 5th, 1770, when colonists and
soldiers gathered on King s street, America and Britain went to the media to present their perspectives
of the tragic event. The statements, that were similar, are as follows: the colonists used snowballs as
weapons, there was profanity from both soldiers and colonists, and lastly, around 11 soldiers were
involved and two more were assaulted. Deciding what the truth was, was difficult. Therefore, the
Boston Massacre had two sides, the colonial stance and the British. The other issue was figuring out

Boston Massacre in the 1800 s. The art depicted the colonists attacking the British soldiers with clubs,
looking far more menacing than the soldiers. Along with the focal points of this painting, one can also
see colonists looking out their windows viewing the event, rather than calling for help. Making it seem
as though the colonists didn t feel the need to put a stop to this dispute. Overall, The London

The Music Of The World Of Music
The world of music has seen many memorable composers such as Bach, Mozart, Chopin, and Vivaldi,
but none of them have a story as amazing as the 18th century classical composer Ludwig Van
Beethoven. His life played out like one of his beautiful symphonies, with unimaginable highs, lows,
victories, and defeats, (Viegas 5). Although he lost his hearing when he was 26 years old, Beethoven
was famous for his nine symphonies, and is also recognized as one of the cornerstones of Western
civilization through the legacy of his music.
Ludwig Van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany. He was the son of Johann, a tenor of the court of
the Elector of Cologne, who also taught violin and piano lessons, and the grandson of the man he was

His father, Johann, became an alcoholic as a result of never living up to his father s musical
achievements. His greatest hope for success in life now rested on one individual his young son
Ludwig (Viegas 12). He gave Ludwig, music lessons from when he was very young. Many accounts
believe that Ludwig s father was abusive in his lessons. So dedicated to improving Ludwig s
musicianship, he would beat him or lock him in the cellar. Since these events took place when
Beethoven was at such an impressionable age, it is hard to tell how much of his later obsession with
music came from a love of the craft or from a drive instilled by his domineering father (Viegas 13).
Regardless of his father s dominance, Beethoven s musical prodigy was very natural for him. This is
proven by the fact that although his father encouraged him to play pre existing compositions,
Beethoven composed his own. In 1779, German composer Christian Gottlob Neefe took over Ludwig
s father s role as a music teacher. Mild mannered and well educated, he inspired Beethoven to pursue
his talent for composing music further, and in 1782, Neefe decided to publish Beethoven s
compositions. As Neefe began to publicize 12 year old Beethoven s talents, they caught the attention
of Maximilian Franz, the new elector of the region who had an appreciation for music. He had
Beethoven play the viola for his court orchestra and was very

the reader on various definitions, idea and numerous theories in an effort to provide support for his
conclusions and ultimately woo the reader into believing the postulations he makes. It is my belief that
while Gee is eventually able to turn the reader to his way of thinking, he is not able to as eloquently as

immediately adds the adjectives dominant and powerful as a means to better express the meaning of
the definition he has provided in the very next sentences. While I acknowledge that for purpose of this
essay Gee s definition may offer up a viable definition to support his arguments, it is by no means a

Generations And The Gaps In-Between
Generation s and The Gaps In Between In our present day lives many might not think about different
generations, let alone how it affect them and the world they live in today. But even today people from
many different generations live their lives day to day like everyone else. The world in a sense* is a
generational salad bowl, mixed with people of all generations living together. Many might never
notice they are living in a generational salad bowl, that is until they talk to someone who was born in a
different generation them as each generation has specific views and opinions that differ from each

gap in the world is vital to a global balance. The generation s and the gaps in between them help to

Furthermore, My classmates offered other theories which could be seen as a contributing theory and in
the next several paragraphs, these theories will be broken down and discussed.
Attribution theory states that there are internal and external explanations for work family and family
work conflict. (King, 2005). This applies, because it explains that most of the internal reason go back
to our understanding of the traditional roles based on society s and our own individual perceptions.
Depending on you learned perception, it can be passed off as that s the way it is, in a naive way, or a
deliberate way, either way it applies to this situation.
Equity Theory, although her feeling of inequity did probably strongly apply in the end. This also
played a part in her departure, this was a result of the chain reaction of events, and not the main
theory.

will be able to leave out his view of the story so that he does not turn the final story into a one that just
explains how he perceived his brothers interview. Wideman relates the problems that he has
communicating with Robby to his own writing; he is not sure how to face the whole situation of
speaking with his brother about personal things. The relationship that they had growing up led them to
this awkwardness, but Wideman faces these challenges and overcomes them by catching up on what
was currently going on with the family. His writing reflects this because as he questions himself in this
prose he seems to be unsure as to how he wants his story structured. Wideman is up front to his
audience about his witting issues in this prose because I believe that he wants the reader to be able to

The Theatre Of The Absurd Analysis
The Theatre of the Absurd is a collection of plays written after World War II that were considered of
having ridiculous and random ideals. Many of these plays came from Europe, including Rhinoceros
by Ionesco. In Rhinoceros, the main character Berenger is a man who is not keeping up with himself
and is having a midlife crisis. Everyone else in the town is living a normal life when the townspeople
start to turn into rhinoceroses. With his differentness and being so out of place, he is the only one left
as a human over a rhinoceros. Now that Berenger wants to be like everyone else and turn into a
rhinoceros, he cannot because of his major differences. In the play, Rhinoceros, different aspects of the
Theatre of the Absurd come through in the crazy storyline created by Ionesco. No communication and
no logic are two of the aspects of the absurd writing concepts during this time period. One of the
absurd aspects of no communication is found through the lines of the play.
No communication is one of the absurdist aspects in the play Rhinoceros that reoccurs throughout the
storyline. Towards the beginning of the play, the characters find that a rhinoceros is trampling through
the town. The housewife finds that her cat has been trampled on by the strange creature, and is very
upset. She wails to the others: It ran over my cat, it ran over my cat! (Ionesco 26). Everyone responds
back to her: Poor little thing! (Ionesco 26). Even though the cat has been trampled over and is dead,

Jack is the book s symbol for the theme, man s inherent savage nature. Jack himself is nothing more
than an animalistic beast that finally gets uncaged and set free at the end of the novel. Jack finds his

Camera Angles In Edward Scissorhands
Camera techniques is a very general aspect of cinema that covers all movements, lens , angles, and
shot types a camera can ascribe to. For example, the camera angle can establish the mood and tone of
a sequence, with the application of high camera angles depicting characters as exposed. Furthermore,
camera movement comprises of zooming, panning, tilting, and tracking as a way of producing
emotion and compelling viewers. Camera lens spans from telephoto to wide angle and gives to the
tone and appearance of the movie. Finally, shot types can include long shot, extra long shot, close up,
extra close up, and point of view, and form circumstance of the characters in their settings amid that
moment in the plot. In Edward Scissorhands, director Tim Burton relies upon a bevy of different
camera angles to capture Edward as an assailable protagonist, alone and existing as separate from
community.
Tim Burton uses creative and sometimes cramped camera angles to convey the primary concepts of
aloneness and self discovery, in addition to augmenting the veiled themes of societal homogeneity and
discrimination, to the audience. This perception is suggested all through the movie through the
director s use of high angle panoramic shots of the unvarying suburbia and long shots of ... Show more

Existing research in the field of GGP
Since previous valuable research about the same topic of general game player is comparatively rare,
this section will focus more on a similar field: Center for Analysis and Design of Intelligent Agents
(CADIA) player. By analyzing this similar field, the research could get a better understanding and
some reference functions. Therefore, the research of the general game player could be benefit.
CADIA player had won General Game Playing competition hosted by the AAAI conference for three
times. The program does not require any prior domain knowledge nor heuristic. Different from most
design model of GGP agents, CADIA player employs Monte Carlo based simulation search for its

information that associates to the player and statistical data will also be recorded by Game Agent
Interface between moves through special functions (Finnsson 2012, p. 18).
Game Play Interface
The main AI part of the CADIA agent is managed by the Game Play Interface (Finnsson 2007, p. 17;
Finnsson 2012, p. 18). Both of the current state and the history that led to the state of the game will be
tracked by this layer (Finnsson 2007, p. 17; Finnsson 2012, p. 18). To achieve that, the Game Play
Interface provide class structure in which states and actions will be represent (Finnsson 2012, p. 18).
The structure also need to be capable to be translated back into description languages, like GDL or
KIF (Finnsson 2012, p. 18).
The Game Logic Interface
Game logic Interface adopts classes to implement the Game Controller (Finnsson 2007, p. 19;
Finnsson 2012, p. 27). The Game Logic Interface will file the game s state, offers information about
what moves are available, when there is a move how should the states changes, determine terminal
state, and decide the goal rewards if a state is judged as a terminal state (Finnsson 2012, p. 27).

Analysis Of Half A Day By Naguib Mahfouz
Time was a system created to help us organize our lives, but isn t it just a ticking clock telling us how
much we have left? In order to the get the most out of our lives, we use must use it wisely. In Half a
Day by Naguib Mahfouz, he shows the reader that you must live life because it will quickly pass you
by. He demonstrates this by having the character experience new things, time passing quickly, and
showing evolution. When the young boy doesn t want to go to school, he is forced to experience
something new. As he approaches the new school he is attending his father tells him Today you truly
begin life. (Mahfouz 85). The significance of this quote is that the young boy is trying something new.
If he wouldn t push himself to experience this new thing, he wouldn t be taking advantage and using
what all life has to offer. Go in by yourself. (Mahfouz 85) says his father. Because his father is trying
to push him to do new things, this shows that the author was trying to convey that you have to venture
out, even if on you own. You have to experience new things to truly live life before the clock stops
ticking and you run out of time. Dry your tears and face life joyfully. (Mahfouz 86). When one of the
woman at the new school make this comment, it shows the young boy that he has to face life and
enjoy it rather than shy away from the new things. She direct states that you must live joyfully , so that
shows me that the author wanted the boy to realize he must live life

Using A Polymer As A Material For Carbon Dioxide
Regev Trigalo
10/29/15
ENG 199 HW#3: Simplified Literature Review on Research Topic
My research involves the synthesizing polyamine starting from readily available building blocks
namely ethylene and carbon monoxide and then using that to capture carbon dioxide, an undesirable
greenhouse gas which contributes to global warming, from industrial processes. Currently, liquid
amines are used industrially and while they are quite effective, they are costly, toxic, are not very
recyclable, and degrade quickly. The novel use of a polymer as a material for this purpose could solve
many of these issues.
I chose three articles to review to get a better understanding of the current work being done in the
field. The first, Absorbent Materials for Carbon Dioxide Capture from Large Anthropogenic Point
Sources by Christopher Jones gives an overview of materials currently being used to capture carbon
dioxide what I am attempting to do with polyamine. The second, Steam Stripping for Regeneration of
Supported Amine Based CO2 Adsorbents, also by Jones, is a communications that discusses
regeneration of the amine once it has been used for carbon dioxide capture. The third by Maschmeyer
entitled The Reductive Amination of Aldehydes and Ketones and the Hydrogenation of Nitriles:
Mechanistic Aspects and Selectivity Control relates to the reaction I am doing (reductive amination of
a polyketone). Furthermore, a review article will be particularly good for my purposes because it will

Analysis Of The Mental Health Of Ruby Wax
Being able to find a first person account, which provides explicit details on the mental health of Ruby
Wax has been unequivocally challenging. However, after much research, numerous resources have
been sought, which include her autobiography, How Do You Want Me? (2002), Ted talks and more
recently, her appearance on BBC One Who Do You Think You Are? (2017), which contain accounts of
her mental health issues and her recovery.
How Do You Want Me? (2002) is an autobiographical memoir by Ruby Wax, which details a brutally
honest and touching account of her personal life, including her upbringing, fame, marriage, children
and some details of her breakdown and recovery. Not only is the book an honest account, it is funny
and irreverent.
Ruby Wax is well known for being a comedian, actress, author and recently a campaigner for mental
health. Ruby is an only child, who descends from Jewish Austrian parents; her father was called
Edward and her mother was called Berthe. Her parents escaped from Austria in 1938, due to
impending Nazi threat. They set up roots in Evanston, Illinois. Her father set up his own business, and
became a wealthy sausage maker, and her mother was an accountant. Ruby is married to Ed Bye, who
is a British television producer and director. They have three children, a boy and two girls.
In the book, she speaks candidly about how her parents were violent towards her during her
upbringing, and how negative her parents were towards her. She explains

Michelangelo s David and Gian Lorenzo Bernini David There are not many artists in the world of
sculptors that can compare or surpass the work of these two artists. The comparison that I will make is
between two different artists who happened to create a marble statue of the biblical David but did it
differently and during different eras of art. Michelangelo created his seventeen feet, standing nude
male statue of David first during the renaissance era between the year 1501 and 1504 in the 16th
century while Gian Lorenzo Bernini did it later in 1624 using the baroque style which was the artistic
style of the 17th century (Coughlan, 18). The artwork of these two artists goes a long way in defining
the state of art culturally and stylistically its significance during the particular periods they created
their respective statues of David. Having seen both sculptures it is safe to stylistically analyze that
Michelangelo and the renaissance masters concentrated more on the rules of geometry design because
looking at his statue of David everything about the statue is idealized in the sense that his sculpture s
size is not the normal size of a human being. He basically used the rules of geometry and symmetry to
build a big body block and decorated it with the details of a figure that served his architecture. His
methods allowed him to recreate every part of the figure

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Employee Relations
Employment relation is one of the vital and critical parts of HRM. For making an effective and
healthy relationship between employers and employees, it is important to understand the perception of
employment relations along with its importance in an organisation (Wang Chen, 2005). Thus, if an
organisation fails to understand its significance of employment relations and unable to manager
employer and employee relationship efficiently, this might lead to impact on the organisation power
and will deter its strength and profitability. According to Singh (2011), employee relations is basically
a study of regulations, agreements and rules through which employees are accomplished with

The managers in this case are all free to take harsh and biased decisions for meeting their own
personal interest (Cully 1999; Kessler 2003). Because of this, it will create negative environment and
as a result employees will not be able to work efficiently. Even if the organisation is not supporting
conflicts; proper management should work on creating competitive working environment with the
presence of any such conflicts. If they fail, it shows that the organisation is unable to understand how
to connect employee and organisation objective in an effective

Essay On Modern English
Anglo Saxon period, from 5th century to 1066, became the ancestor of our modern literature. There is
a big difference from then and now including our language and culture.
First is the difference between their language and the language now which is modern English. Anglo
Saxon language is the oldest known form of English language and is also called as Old English. Even
though it is referred as old English, their language is far different from modern English and is closer to
modern German. The distinction can be seen, for example, on the old English word haftling, to the
modern English word prisoner. The similarities to modern German can be seen from the old English
haftling, not changing and still being haftling now. Their rich language was used on their great works
such as the four manuscripts and, of course, the majestic Beowullf. Old English influenced modern
English in some little ways. Old English, as the ancestor, evolved and modified making it less
noticeable now but it is actually used in our everyday lives.
In terms of values, their point of view can be a bad view for us. Beowulf provided us information
about the expected values before. A person can be heroic if he shows bravery. A brave man that can ...

They have their rights equally distributed after marriage. A woman stays at home, give birth, do
houseworks or field works, or sometimes supervise the houseworks. But looking back, men actually
look higher than women. Men also do fieldworks, fight enemies and lead a group. Now, rights of
women are being fought upon every place in the world. Feminists say that there should be equal rights
for men and women because everything a man can do, can also be done by a woman. Before, the
women were more of a houseperson but now, we can see that a lot of women became anything a man
can be. There are many women who work on a job that was just for men before. Soon enough, there

Pros And Cons Of The 22nd Amendment
Until 1951, there was no law restricting the number of times the president of the United States could
run for office. After the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Congress proposed the 22nd
Amendment. Since its ratification, the highly controversial amendment has survived every attempted
repeal. Contemporary presidents of both parties, President Regan and President Clinton, supported
repealing or modifying the amendment whereas other presidents believed a repeal would result in
political stagnation. While there are certain benefits of restricted term limits, the otherwise
undemocratic 22nd Amendment should be repealed. David Karol, a proponent of repeal, argues first
and foremost the amendment is undemocratic and considers it to be the most offensive aspect of the
law. Presidential term limits reduce the public s influence over the electoral process. Furthermore, the
amendment is based solely on distrust and fear which historically does not make for good policy. In
his argument, Karol cited historian Henry Steele Commager who suggested that the amendment was
simply posthumous vengeance on President Roosevelt and the shortsighted partisan act resulted in bad
policy. Simultaneously, the amendment does nothing to stop the expanding power of the executive.
For example, in his first term, President Lyndon B. Johnson exaggerated the Gulf of Tonkin incident
to work around the limitations of the office. Since the second half of the 20th century, the power of the
president has

Addiction is a Neurological Disorder Essay
Addiction: It s A Neurological Disorder
Addiction is a neurologically based disease. For many years recovery specialists have compared
alcoholism or addictions to a physical disease: like diabetes. In reality addictions are more closely
related to a neurological disorder like Tourette s Syndrome* than they are to diabetes.
If the problems you suffer stem from severe alcoholism or addiction, you must accept that these
problems are not primarily mental or free will issues. Addictions are not about will power. The
problems facing addicts, alcoholics, and their families are miserable, disgusting, and infuriating. They
are often hopelessly discouraging. But to imagine that an addict could change if he wanted to is a

Example of a Nerve Pathway
It is difficult for people to grasp the meaning of a nerve pathway, or why this is related to addiction.
Often when people hear a new idea like: an addictive impulse is the result of a nerve impulse they are
left unsympathetic. Addicts and non addicts alike have a hard time believing that drug or alcohol use
is anything more than a choice that is made in response to a habit. Deep down inside, most people
believe that at it s root the behavior is always a choice. They are very, very wrong. This author was
stuck in addiction for over a decade, so completely was he convinced that the mind was an immaterial
spiritual power and that to call alcoholism or addiction a disease was a cop out for the weak willed.
This author believed that each and every time free choice was at the root of addictive behavior. Until
one day, in another recovery facility the author stumbled upon the concept of neuro pathways by
reading a book called The Training of the Will by a Jesuit priest. That book was written in the early
1900 s. Even then, the Jesuits knew that the root of almost all behavior was based not in free will but
in neurological wiring. For the Jesuits, training the will essentially consists in training the body. After
reading that book, this author began to understand that while his mind his intellect was indeed an
immaterial power, the overwhelming cravings for drugs or alcohol were based in

Judicial Selection Process And The State Of New Jersey
In this writing assignment I will discuss the judicial selection process in the state of Virginia and the
state of New Jersey. I will talk about the specific qualifications needed for each state. I will present a
brief overview of the steps an individual has to learn to become an attorney, which can contribute to a
judgeship. I will also discuss the step of removing a judge from office.
The six steps to become a judge: Step one is to attend undergraduate school, earn a law degree, pass a
Uniform Bar Exam, become a practicing attorney, and obtain a judgeship and complete training. The
Virginia judiciary is composed of the Supreme Court, the court of appeals, the circuit court, and the
district court (Staffer, 2016). The district court has limited jurisdiction. In 1999, the Republican
majority established a joint judicial advisory committee to examine and assess candidates for
vacancies on the Supreme Court and the court of appeals and to provide detailed information to the
general assembly on their qualifications (Staffer, 2016). The local citizen commissions was set up by
the Republican legislators to evaluate the nominees to be on the circuit court and district court.
The legislatives selects the state court judges in Virginia, which is identical to the selection process for
the supreme court, court of appeals and circuit court judges. As outlined in Article VI of the Virginia
Constitution, judges are elected by a majority vote of the Virginia General Assembly

Defence Industrial Policy
It is only a matter of time before industrial suppliers loose investor support grow weary of budget cuts.
Resolving this gap with defense industrial policy will give a safeguard to the industrial base by
providing industrial suppliers the necessary reassurance for their stakeholders. At the very least,
suppliers require guidance to re orient resources as priorities shift and programs are cut. It is yet to be
seen if this present pattern of business will insure a suitable industrial base in the future without
addressing this issue. A case in point, SecDef Hagels recently declared six priorities for the Defense
department include maintaining a lead in emerging technologies, such as: space, cyber, special
operations forces, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance without pointing to any industrial
guidance to achieve these requirements. This leaves industrial suppliers gambling over which
programs to invest resources without the risk of being cut. For instance, Space programs such as: GPS
Positioning ($1.3 Billion) and Planned purchase of extremely high frequency satellite programs
($652.5 million) do not have any order of preference from the department. From the defense supplier s
point of view, without any preferences, allocating resources and investing in technology is
problematic. As publicly traded companies, defense suppliers are bound to stakeholders, and must
proceed with caution for projects at risk of being cut. The lack of guidance only adds to their

  • 2. Reflection Of The Movie Mivtza Savta Mivtza Savta The movie Mivtza Savta is based on a true story and follows the story of three brothers: Alon (Krembo), Benni, and Idan. The brothers grew up in Kibbutz Asisim in the Negev, but have since left the Kibbutz. Alon has returned to live in the Kibbutz because of his stationing in the Israeli Army. They all live their lives and work in their jobs until their grandmother Haya dies. This is also the moment where the most touted line of the movie is said: savta Haya meta . It is then that Dvora, the Kibbutz secretary informed the brothers that the Kibbutz will not take care of the arrangements for the funeral and it is up to the brother to bury their grandmother. This is the subject the movie revolves around: how to bury savta Haya in a day so that Elon can execute his newly approved military plan makat shemesh that he has been working on for so long. Before I can summarize the rest of the movie, it is important to know the characters. Alon is the oldest brother. He is in a classified position in the Israeli Army. Since he left the Kibbutz when he grew up, he lives there as an external resident (toshav huts). He receives the name Krembo, an Israeli snack only available in the winter, by stealing all the Krembos from the Kibbutz Kitchen. In order to avoid punishment, even though everyone knew it was him, he ate 500 Krembos in half an hour. Krembo is the brains behind the operation of burring grandmother Haya. He conducts the mission as a military operation, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about The Independence of Spainish Colonies in America The Spanish empire in the Americas faced huge political, social and economic problems in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The empire was stretched to its limit politically and socially with the threat of an uprising from the slave population in its empire. The economy also played a major role and the outlook was just as bleak for Spain with the American colonies drifting towards independence. Spain did not seem able to cope with its empire and had found itself in trouble with regards to mining which was at the centre of political and social systems, the military and the empire s economic activity. By 1600, mining which was integral to Spain s prosperity and growth, was under a huge amount of pressure. This pressure was caused by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the economy of the Americas relied heavily on mining there was also a large emphasis on agricultural development and manufacturing in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. However, the development of agricultural during these two centuries led to further economic turmoil within the Americas. The agricultural system was changed from the traditional Indian subsistence agriculture to commercial crops and plantations. This change in agriculture led to the formation of latifundios and minifundios which were not as self sufficient as the traditional Indian subsistence farming. The sugar boom meant that the agricultural system in place led to a loss of Indian land and water rights. Venezuela became the centre of the Americas agricultural economy, due to its success of farming cacao in the central valleys and also due to its livestock. However, the success of its livestock meant that large and intrusive estancias or ranches were constructed. This was especially true in the Pampas region of South America, which brought in development of a previously undeveloped and unspoilt region. The Americas move towards independence was slowly picking up pace as a result of its success in manufacturing. For example, wine within the Americas was now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prevention And Treatment Of Periodontal Disease Introduction Periodontal disease is one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases and is also the second most frequent cause of tooth loss among adults. The toxins produced by bacteria stimulate an inflammatory response in which the body turns upon itself and results in the supporting tissues of the teeth being progressively destroyed. Periodontal disease is multifactorial and susceptibility is dependent on the composition of individual s microflora together with specific local and systemic risk factors. Local risk factors include any plaque retentive features which hinders plaque removal such as crowding, calculus, overhangs and orthodontic appliance. Systemic risk factors include diabetes, genetic and smoking. Smoking is an important risk factor for the initiation and progression of periodontal diseases and a number of researches have demonstrated the detrimental effect of smoking on patient s periodontal status as well as their response to periodontal treatment. Content of cigarette Smoking has widespread systemic effects as it contains over 4000 toxic chemicals including Benzene, Formaldehyde and Ammonia. Benzene is a solvent used in making fuel, Formaldehyde is used to preserve dead bodies and Ammonia can be found in cleaning fluids. There are also potent carcinogens such as Nitrosamines and Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The component of inhaled smoke includes nicotine, carbon monoxide and tar. • 5. Essay on Important Elements Of A Campaign Strategy Important Elements of a Campaign Strategy Campaigning for any type of elected office requires a sharp eye for detail in regard to what voters are looking for in a candidate. A campaign strategy should be comprehensive in its efforts to reach as many voters as possible. Yet, without a solid base of ideas from which to expand upon, the message being conveyed can easily be lost or taken out of context. In order for a campaign manager to avoid this blunder from occurring and maximize the candidate s chances of victory, he or she must pay attention to a few basic campaigning elements before attempting to stretch the campaign to its maximum visibility. First, the campaign manager must identify the important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Still, it is vital for a candidate at any level to develop a grasp of the different groups that will decide his or her fate. As stated earlier, this dimension of the campaign process is primarily dealt with before the campaign commences. Once completed, the popular definition of the word campaign takes form. Conveying a message to the voters in the form of speeches, advertisement, and public appearances is the primary objective of a political campaign. This lets the public know what any given candidate can offer them if elected to office. The simplest manner in which to convey whatever message is to incorporate it into a campaign theme. quot;It is a serious mistake to assume that voters are paying close attention to your election, or any election quot; (Shea 1996, 148). The fact is that most voters do not go out of their way to make the right voting choice. All a voter wants is a quick and simple reason to vote for a candidate. If every voter researched the possible candidates before each election, campaigning would be obsolete. The political campaign serves as a vehicle to inform voters. The best and most effective way for a candidate to do this is with a campaign theme. A campaign theme should be general in nature. It should be an idea that a large group can grab hold of. If the theme selected is too precise, it portrays the candidate as narrow minded. Simply put, the broader a theme is, the more voters it attracts (Shea 1996, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Standardized Testing Are A Waste Of Time Essay Standardized Test Are a Waste of Time According to Diane Ravitch, Sometimes, the most brilliant and intelligent minds do not shine in standardized tests because they do not have standardized minds. Her point is that not every students mind operates the same way, so one test that all students must take does not measure the student s actually abilities. Across the United States, standardized testing is a popular method used to measure a student s academic ability and their college admission. These exams have multiple choice questions and sometimes a writing section, which the examiners must complete in a certain amount of time. Every year the tests get harder and harder, which causes anxiety in the students. Standardized testing does not measure the skills students have learned and their intelligence from school and life. The main purpose of testing is to set a standard and have a baseline for the knowledge taught and students should know for everyone involved in the educational process, such as teachers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schools should put more emphasis on the growth and development of a student, instead of ranking and determining their worth based on test scores and grades. Standardized exams are an unreliable way to grade students and prepare them for college. In addition, they do not teach or advocate life skills that students need when they are developing and later on in life. As Albert Einstein has said, Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. Einstein s quote perfectly describes today s education system. About phobias Of course fear is sometims something that takes over our imaginations and suddenly it seems that every little sound makes us jump. This phobia is thought to stem from frightening experiences with vocabulary or spelling bees during childhood and the difficulty to memorize or mentally process multisyllabic words. It is suggested that perhaps people who have come to rely on modern technology and have stopped reading might in some form develop this phobia. Now that alone is a scary thought. That is why I am still friends with all of my books and I know that nothing can replace the feel and smell of a real book in my hand. Kipling describes what would happen if you can dream and not make dreams your master that one would be a Man. The qualities that Kipling describes show a stoic person, but not someone who is flashy. The person describes can take the good with the bad they can meet with Triumph and Disaster and treat those two impostors just the same while keep[ing] their head [about them]. A Man can force your heart and nerve and sinew.. and so hold on when there is nothing in you . A Man will embrace the things that make life worth living. He will recover quickly from his losses, knowing that he can learn from them. Another quality that Kipling emphasizes is willpower, that the Will which says to them! Hold on! Trust in life and that everything will work out is also a quality that one must have to be a Gentleman, and to really embrace life. To attain this wisdom and outlook on life, one must have had experience with at least a portion of life, having the necessary experience to draw from mistakes and repeat the actions one showed in triumphs. Even though life is not fair and one has no idea why he is being punished, one must take it gracefully and accept the absence of such a reason as part of the grand design of life and humankind. • 10. The Media And Federal Government Mental and Social Disorder One in every seventeen people in America suffers from a mental disorder. These disorders inhibit the afflicted person from functioning properly and coping normally with daily life. Many afflicted with a psychological disorder do not exhibit obvious symptoms, as medical advancements have made it possible for these disorders to be suppressed or even nonexistent. Today, however, harsh stigmas exist that unfairly categorize those with a mental illness as violent, unfriendly, and abnormal. The media and federal government are culprits in fabricating the unrealistic depictions of mental disability that define the portrayal of those who are mentally or psychologically disadvantaged. The media is and has been one of the strongest outlets of perpetuating negative mental illness stereotypes. Since the invention of the television and its spread to every American household by the 1960s, television shows have manufactured an image of the mentally disabled as dangerous and unpredictable . The shows depict the mentally ill as very violent; One in four mentally ill characters kill someone, and half are portrayed as hurting others . The ways in which mentally disabled are filmed within a show also differs from the ways that non disabled characters are shot. Studies show that they are usually filmed alone with close up or extreme shots, reinforcing their isolation and dislocation from the other characters and from society. Many states view collecting use tax on smaller purchases as burdensome, therefore states have customarily attempted to collect a use tax only on big ticket items that require licenses such as cars and boats. Many states over the last several years are increasing enforcement efforts of the use tax laws to get the state population to pay the taxes due in an attempt to combat internet ordering. The realities of limited resources as well as the complexities involved with tracking down minor purchases and demanding that a use tax be paid are limiting the collection efforts. In the 1992 decision, Quill v. North Dakota, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that retailers are exempt from collecting sales taxes in states where they have no physical presence, with physical presence defined by example such as a store, office, or warehouse. The specifics of this case deal with a catalog mail order company, however, the ruling has been far reaching and has been applied to all remote sellers, including online retailers. The Court stated requiring companies to comply with the varied sales tax rules and regulations of 45 states and some 7,500 different local taxing jurisdictions would burden interstate commerce.

Events such as: both tubes on the ice for 10 minutes, both tubes in the bath for 50 seconds, both tubes on ice for 2 minutes and both tubes at room temperature for 10 minutes. All of these events could have been done with greater precision. Some of the tubes may have been exposed to their given environment over or under the necessary time frame. A source of error is that the ice blocks were not consistent. The procedure asked for crushed ice and ice cubes were used in the experiment. This could have had an effect on the temperature needed for the creation of competent cells. On the other hand, an improvement that could be made is pipetting. 0.25mL of CaCl2 solution was put into both tubes using an open pipette. But, it was possible for a mistake to occur with the chance of air bubbles or imprecision to the required amount. This would affect the amount of the CaCl2 solution that was needed by under or over pipetting into each of the two test tubes. • 21. Heredity and Hormones Effect on Behavior Essay Human behavior has been a mystery to scientists and psychologists for years. What causes humans to act the way they do? Is it learned by experience, or inherited from prior generations? The human brain is a complex machine driven by numerous intangibles that influence our thinking process directly and indirectly. The endocrine system in the human body stores a chemical known as hormones. Hormones are released by endocrine glands into the bloodstream and travel throughout the body carrying messages. A hormonal impulse is similar to a nerve impulse only much slower. The messages carried by the hormones trigger different behaviors. Both glands produce two distinct hormones, but produce differing amounts of each hormone. Masculine hormones such as androgens and testosterone are predominately produced by male testes. These hormones at high levels can be related to aggressive behavior regardless of sex, but high levels are most commonly found in males. High levels of feminine hormones or estrogen, most commonly found in females, have recently been linked to aggressive behavior as well. While high levels of estrogen in females and high levels of testosterone in males have been linked to aggressive behavior, normal levels of these hormones have been known to cause aggression as well. Although these hormones have been related to human behavior, scientists have concluded that these hormones alone do not dictate behavior (Morris Maisto, 2005). Adrenal glands, located near the kidneys, secrete several hormones that are activated by the nervous system. These hormones dictate the body s reaction to stressful situations. Each person secretes a different amount of hormones, therefore affecting behavior in stressful situations differently (Morris Maisto, 2005). The Supreme Court ruled that undocumented children cannot be denied access to education solely on the basis of their immigration status (Noel, 2008). The U. S. Supreme Court felt as though children who were not able to receive education and who were denied the right to education would be drastically harmed throughout their lifetime which is why this case was passed. Many of these undocumented citizens came from Mexico, primarily from Texas and California. The two cases set the stage for immigration into the United States. Prior to these two cases, many people were turned away because they knew little to know English and were seen useless in the United States. This goes against multiculturalism because these minority groups were not treated with the same respect and were viewed as inferior to the dominant culture which was English. Many accounts believe that Ludwig s father was abusive in his lessons. So dedicated to improving Ludwig s musicianship, he would beat him or lock him in the cellar. Since these events took place when Beethoven was at such an impressionable age, it is hard to tell how much of his later obsession with music came from a love of the craft or from a drive instilled by his domineering father (Viegas 13). Regardless of his father s dominance, Beethoven s musical prodigy was very natural for him. This is proven by the fact that although his father encouraged him to play pre existing compositions, Beethoven composed his own. In 1779, German composer Christian Gottlob Neefe took over Ludwig s father s role as a music teacher. Mild mannered and well educated, he inspired Beethoven to pursue his talent for composing music further, and in 1782, Neefe decided to publish Beethoven s compositions. Wideman also brings up his writing problems as he tells the story, as a way to let the reader know the exact process that he is going through as he listens to Robby and tries to remember the conversations with his mother. As Wideman begins his interview with his brother he questions to himself how he will be able to leave out his view of the story so that he does not turn the final story into a one that just explains how he perceived his brothers interview. Wideman relates the problems that he has communicating with Robby to his own writing; he is not sure how to face the whole situation of speaking with his brother about personal things. The relationship that they had growing up led them to this awkwardness, but Wideman faces these challenges and overcomes them by catching up on what was currently going on with the family. His writing reflects this because as he questions himself in this prose he seems to be unsure as to how he wants his story structured. Wideman is up front to his audience about his witting issues in this prose because I believe that he wants the reader to be able to relate. Many of these plays came from Europe, including Rhinoceros by Ionesco. In Rhinoceros, the main character Berenger is a man who is not keeping up with himself and is having a midlife crisis. Everyone else in the town is living a normal life when the townspeople start to turn into rhinoceroses. With his differentness and being so out of place, he is the only one left as a human over a rhinoceros. Now that Berenger wants to be like everyone else and turn into a rhinoceros, he cannot because of his major differences. In order to the get the most out of our lives, we use must use it wisely. In Half a Day by Naguib Mahfouz, he shows the reader that you must live life because it will quickly pass you by. He demonstrates this by having the character experience new things, time passing quickly, and showing evolution. When the young boy doesn t want to go to school, he is forced to experience something new. As he approaches the new school he is attending his father tells him Today you truly begin life. (Mahfouz 85). The significance of this quote is that the young boy is trying something new. If he wouldn t push himself to experience this new thing, he wouldn t be taking advantage and using what all life has to offer. Go in by yourself. (Mahfouz 85) says his father. Because his father is trying to push him to do new things, this shows that the author was trying to convey that you have to venture out, even if on you own. You have to experience new things to truly live life before the clock stops ticking and you run out of time. Dry your tears and face life joyfully. (Mahfouz 86). When one of the woman at the new school make this comment, it shows the young boy that he has to face life and enjoy it rather than shy away from the new things. Currently, liquid amines are used industrially and while they are quite effective, they are costly, toxic, are not very recyclable, and degrade quickly. • 46. Art History Through The 19th Century Sean Ly Student ID: 03299319 LA 121 OL4: Art History Through The 19th Century December 18, 2015 Sara Ellis Michelangelo s David and Gian Lorenzo Bernini David There are not many artists in the world of sculptors that can compare or surpass the work of these two artists. The comparison that I will make is between two different artists who happened to create a marble statue of the biblical David but did it differently and during different eras of art. Michelangelo created his seventeen feet, standing nude male statue of David first during the renaissance era between the year 1501 and 1504 in the 16th century while Gian Lorenzo Bernini did it later in 1624 using the baroque style which was the artistic style of the 17th century (Coughlan, 18). The artwork of these two artists goes a long way in defining the state of art culturally and stylistically its significance during the particular periods they created their respective statues of David. Having seen both sculptures it is safe to stylistically analyze that Michelangelo and the renaissance masters concentrated more on the rules of geometry design because looking at his statue of David everything about the statue is idealized in the sense that his sculpture s size is not the normal size of a human being. He basically used the rules of geometry and symmetry to build a big body block and decorated it with the details of a figure that served his architecture. His methods allowed him to recreate every part of the figure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a big difference from then and now including our language and culture. First is the difference between their language and the language now which is modern English. Anglo Saxon language is the oldest known form of English language and is also called as Old English. Even though it is referred as old English, their language is far different from modern English and is closer to modern German. The distinction can be seen, for example, on the old English word haftling, to the modern English word prisoner. The similarities to modern German can be seen from the old English haftling, not changing and still being haftling now. Their rich language was used on their great works such as the four manuscripts and, of course, the majestic Beowullf. Old English influenced modern English in some little ways. Old English, as the ancestor, evolved and modified making it less noticeable now but it is actually used in our everyday lives. In terms of values, their point of view can be a bad view for us. • 49. Pros And Cons Of The 22nd Amendment Until 1951, there was no law restricting the number of times the president of the United States could run for office. After the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Congress proposed the 22nd Amendment. Since its ratification, the highly controversial amendment has survived every attempted repeal. Contemporary presidents of both parties, President Regan and President Clinton, supported repealing or modifying the amendment whereas other presidents believed a repeal would result in political stagnation. While there are certain benefits of restricted term limits, the otherwise undemocratic 22nd Amendment should be repealed. David Karol, a proponent of repeal, argues first and foremost the amendment is undemocratic and considers it to be the most offensive aspect of the law. Presidential term limits reduce the public s influence over the electoral process. Furthermore, the amendment is based solely on distrust and fear which historically does not make for good policy. In his argument, Karol cited historian Henry Steele Commager who suggested that the amendment was simply posthumous vengeance on President Roosevelt and the shortsighted partisan act resulted in bad policy. Simultaneously, the amendment does nothing to stop the expanding power of the executive. For example, in his first term, President Lyndon B. Johnson exaggerated the Gulf of Tonkin incident to work around the limitations of the office. Since the second half of the 20th century, the power of the president has ... Often when people hear a new idea like: an addictive impulse is the result of a nerve impulse they are left unsympathetic. Addicts and non addicts alike have a hard time believing that drug or alcohol use is anything more than a choice that is made in response to a habit. Deep down inside, most people believe that at it s root the behavior is always a choice. They are very, very wrong. This author was stuck in addiction for over a decade, so completely was he convinced that the mind was an immaterial spiritual power and that to call alcoholism or addiction a disease was a cop out for the weak willed. This author believed that each and every time free choice was at the root of addictive behavior. Until one day, in another recovery facility the author stumbled upon the concept of neuro pathways by reading a book called The Training of the Will by a Jesuit priest. I will talk about the specific qualifications needed for each state. I will present a brief overview of the steps an individual has to learn to become an attorney, which can contribute to a judgeship. I will also discuss the step of removing a judge from office. The six steps to become a judge: Step one is to attend undergraduate school, earn a law degree, pass a Uniform Bar Exam, become a practicing attorney, and obtain a judgeship and complete training. The Virginia judiciary is composed of the Supreme Court, the court of appeals, the circuit court, and the district court (Staffer, 2016). The district court has limited jurisdiction. In 1999, the Republican majority established a joint judicial advisory committee to examine and assess candidates for vacancies on the Supreme Court and the court of appeals and to provide detailed information to the general assembly on their qualifications (Staffer, 2016). • 52. Defence Industrial Policy It is only a matter of time before industrial suppliers loose investor support grow weary of budget cuts. Resolving this gap with defense industrial policy will give a safeguard to the industrial base by providing industrial suppliers the necessary reassurance for their stakeholders. At the very least, suppliers require guidance to re orient resources as priorities shift and programs are cut. It is yet to be seen if this present pattern of business will insure a suitable industrial base in the future without addressing this issue. A case in point, SecDef Hagels recently declared six priorities for the Defense department include maintaining a lead in emerging technologies, such as: space, cyber, special operations forces, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance without pointing to any industrial guidance to achieve these requirements. This leaves industrial suppliers gambling over which programs to invest resources without the risk of being cut. For instance, Space programs such as: GPS Positioning ($1.3 Billion) and Planned purchase of extremely high frequency satellite programs ($652.5 million) do not have any order of preference from the department. From the defense supplier s point of view, without any preferences, allocating resources and investing in technology is problematic. As publicly traded companies, defense suppliers are bound to stakeholders, and must proceed with caution for projects at risk of being cut. The lack of guidance only adds to their ...
