Stop And Frisk, Automobile Searches, And Border And...
Though the Fourth Amendment can lay the foundation of the laws of search and seizures and warrants,
there are still many controversies as to what is classified as a violation of an individual s Fourth
Amendment rights. However, the wording of the Fourth Amendment can be confusing as different
individuals interpret privacy in various ways. Terms that may be interpreted differently in the Fourth
Amendment can include: 1) right of privacy, 2) search, 3) seizure, 4) arrest, and 5) reasonableness.
This paper will examine how each term relates to the practice of stop and frisk, automobile searches,
and border and regulatory searches. The rights of privacy are described to be personal belongings or
home. As defined in Merriam Webster (2015), the right to privacy is the legal right of a person to have
reasonable privacy whereas their private affairs are not made known, or their likeness to be made
public in regards to that person s habits, mode of living, and occupation. Individuals may call upon
their rights of privacy when they believe that those rights have been violated. Situations like this may
occur when an officer searches an individuals property, or their person when performing a stop and
frisk. However the fact remains that when individuals are guilty of violating any law, those rights are
then diminished to a degree. When performing any search and seizure, law enforcement must have a
warrant. Situations when a warrant is not needed would then fall under the Good Faith

Negative Effects On Public Media
Today the data linking violence in the television to violence in society are superior to those linking
cancer and tobacco (Grossman 31). The digital revolution of television symbolizes that the
technological advances have taken the lead of modern society. The relation between children s violent
television viewing and their development is assignable in various ways. Research studies raised some
significant questions about this field and suggest the possible negative consequences that televised
violence could bring to the youth. As the most common and popular public media, television deserved
society s critical attention on its detrimental effects among children. People who is responsible for
major consequences should be attacked by actions such as allowing or profiting inappropriate images
on children s programs, which can cause both physical and psychological problems to the youth
viewers and even lead to criminal behaviors. Violent images on children s television programs should
be discern as the complex interplay that lead to major consequences in children s future development.
Nowadays, under the exposure of television, aggressive images are often shown and even suggested in
children s shows or cartoons. Aggressive actions involving animated characters are easy to caught
youngsters attention. Professor Chris Boyatzis , a member of the Cal State Fullerton Child
Development Department, further proved by expressing that, Violent cartoons have been a staple of

Factors Affecting Seasonal Affective Disorder
1. Although many studies have focused on individual factors relating to Seasonal Affective Disorder
(SAD), this study sought to extend such research by determining whether cognitive, behavioral and
psychophysiological factors that associate to individuals with nonseasonal depression would correlate
to those of SAD (Rohan, Sigmon Dorhofer, 2003). 2. Before gathering the data, the researchers had a
couple hypotheses in mind. They first hypothesized that women with a history of SAD would
encounter and report more negative thinking as well as reduced activity frequency and enjoyment
during the winter time. Not only that, but they expected that a predicted ruminative response style in
the fall would help foretell the severity of depressive symptoms later during the winter time. The
researchers then went on to assume that women with a history of SAD would ultimately report more
depressed mood and experience greater psychophysiological reactivity as a response to low light
intensity stimuli during the winter time relative to controls. 3. The type of research method involved
was a correlational study, however the researchers ended up taking on a longitudinal, multimethod
approach. Twenty women with a history of SAD and twenty women with equivalent age and
education level were recruited for this study, however two participants dropped out of the study who
had a history of SAD, leaving them with eighteen SAD participants and twenty controls. Each
participant went through

The Economic Policies Of Supply Side Economics
Ever wondered why you have to pay those extra couple of cents at the grocery store? Or why gas
prices seem to be constantly fluctuating? The answer lies within a nation s economic policy. Economic
policy is the actions taken by a government to influence its economy. Types of economic policy
actions can include setting interest rates through a federal reserve, regulating the level of government
expenditures, creating private property rights, and setting tax rates. Economic policy hopes to
accomplish economic growth and a stable economy. More specifically, the federal government hopes
to accomplish stable prices, economic growth, and full employment by its economic policy.
Economists debate over three economic policies: supply side ... Show more content on

The methods that supply side economics uses to improve economic growth are to lower marginal
taxes and less government regulation. Under President Ronald Reagan, Congress passed a plan that
would slash taxes by $749 billion over five years. As a result, Reagan was called a great advocate for
supply side economics and was praised for his great leadership. Although supply side economics is
based on the idea of encouraging people to work harder, it also seems to not always work. For
example, Congress passed the cut in tax rates after Reagan was elected, but tax revenues did not rise.
This goes to show that other economic policies need to be examined in order for the economy to be
successful.
Demand side economics is based on the belief that the most important thing affecting economic
activity and thus resulting in the most stable economy is consumer demand for goods and services.
Also called Keynesian economics, demand side economics was developed after the Great Depression
when supply side economics fell through. Demand side economics was founded by John Maynard
Keynes and is based on aggregate demand. Aggregate demand is the total level of demand for desired
goods and services, which is made up of the sum of consumption expenditure, investment expenditure,
government expenditure, and net exports. Demand side economics utilizes methods such as increasing
the buying power of the lower and middle classes, which increases the demand for more goods

The Great Ideas Of Thomas Hobbes Leviathan, And Adam...
hile there are many big ideas in Thomas Hobbes Leviathan, and Adam Smith s The Wealth of Nations,
the most important ideas deal with human nature and social order. In this paper, I will argue Hobbes
lack of optimism, and Smith s lack of pessimism in their theories of human nature, and will also
discuss how our idea of social order changes once these aspects are taken into consideration. Hobbes
theory of human nature begins with him stating that all men are created equal. With all men being
created equal, this means that everyone is equally capable of killing each other, because while, there
may be found one man sometimes manifestly stronger in body, the weaker may be compensated for by
his quicker mind. This equality of ability produces equality of hope for the attaining of our goals, and
that when two or more men desire the same thing which they cannot both enjoy, they become enemies
and attempt to destroy each other. Hobbes called this time when men oppose each other war, and said
that there were three basic causes for war: competition, distrust, and glory. Hobbes also maintains the
belief that in this state of nature, humans have a natural tendency to obtain as much power as they can,
and that the only way they will ever be satisfied with their power is by acquiring more power, going so
far as to harm or kill others in order attain what they desire. Thus, the state of nature is a war of every
man against every man, where humans live in perpetual fear

The Importance of Physical Activity for Special Needs
Everyone needs physical activity to stay healthy. For special needs, it is even more important exercise
and to get around. Exercise affects them by enabling them to learn new things that could help them
physically, mentally, and emotionally. Strengthening those attributes could improve their skills and
help them learn in different ways. Physical activity is very crucial for special needs to help improve
them physically, mentally, and emotionally.
For special needs not to have physical activity is a bad thing. Special needs are more likely to receive

Half of that 21 million does not get the exercise they need, and it jeopardizes their health(Reinburg).
According to Dianna Carroll, 57 percent of adults with limited mobility, 40 percent of adults with
memory or thinking problems, 36 percent of those with vision problems and 33 percent of those with
serious hearing difficulty get no aerobic exercise. That is in contrast of the 26 percent of adults
without a disability and get no exercise. With those stats it shows the importance of exercise and how
vital it is to get out and active. The less active people with disabilities are, the less function their lungs
and heart will have. In those percents there are people who have difficulty walking or climbing stair,
have problems seeing or hearing, or concentrating, remembering or making decisions(Reinburg). This
not only affects their health, but also how much they are going to learn and respond. These stats tell us
what happens when special needs people don t get the exercise they need and how this affects them.
When special needs have physical activity, it a real change made to them physically, mentally, and
emotionally. Physically it helps them get healthy. But it helps more than that. Exercise helps the body
boost body functions. One of the many functions that it helps is the immune system. With just that
improvement it moves their arms and legs producing more white bloods to fight off bacteria and other
illnesses that could get them sick.

Materials and Methods p To perform the first part of the lab it required: spinach leaves, a crucible,
pipette, acetone, a beaker and chromatography paper. The chromatography paper was rolled up into a
cylinder and stapled to hold it in place. Then a pencil was used to draw a line about 1 cm from the
bottom of the paper. p Meanwhile, the spinach leaves were being crushed in the crucible into a more
liquefied state. Once the spinach leaves were done, a pipette was used to place the spinach extract
along the ling drawn around the cylinder. This step was repeated six time, because the darker the line

it was allowed to dry for at least one minute. p
Once the application of the spinach extract was finished, acetone, the solvent, was poured into the
beaker. Then the cylinder was placed into the beaker to absorb the solvent with a jar top placed on top
of it to hold it in place. The chromatography cylinder stayed in the beaker until the pigments in the

observed. p To perform the second half of the lab it required: a spectrophotometer,

How Technology Has Become Increasingly Globalized And Is...
Technology has become increasingly globalized and is now a key utility that is both easily accessible
and convenient in daily life. With the added perpetual use of the Internet, many people blindly trust
their familiar devices and have little to no reluctance about exposing their personal information online.
What many fail to recognize is that tech companies such as Facebook and Google track their online
activity and are incessantly storing and selling their information. A user may also willingly offer their
information to these companies when they ask for it under the guise of personalizing the user s
experience. Often times the user s information is sold to feature advertisements that are tailored to

Dramatic Irony In Lamb To The Slaughter
Lamb to the slaughter expresses many literary elements, creating a story about Mary Maloney s
experience with her husband. Dramatic irony is a very critical part of the story, especially while
evaluating the situation. Personally, I think it s right here on the premises. Probably right under our
very noses. What you think Jack? (Roald Dahl 9). She killed her husband with a frozen lamb leg after
discussing troubling news that was never revealed. Mary called the police, who were also her husband
s coworkers. The police never figured out what the weapon was or who killed him. Mary asked them
of a favor to eat the lamb leg cooking in the oven, and the weapon was right under their noses when
they were eating. Additionally, the imagery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other animals are also used, for example, oxen to the slaughter. Gift of the Magi exercises many
literary and DIDLS elements as Della tries to salvage her last pennies to buy a meaningful gift for her
husband, Jim. One of the most vital parts of the story is situational irony. Della, said he, let s put our
Christmas gifts away and keep them a while. They re too nice to use now. I sold the watch to get the
money to buy the combs. And now I think we should have our dinner (O. Henry 1). Sadness is
expressed as they come to realize that they both bought gifts that were unable to use the gifts they
received. Della had sold her hair to have enough money to buy a watch for Jim, and she got a comb.
Jim sold his watch to buy the combs for Della, and she bought him a watch. This is considered
situational irony because the situation is reversed. Another important element of Gift of the Magi is
foreshadowing. The James Dillingham Youngs were very proud of two things which they owned. One
thing was Jim s gold watch. It had once belonged to his father. And, long ago, it had belonged to his
father s father. The other thing was Della s hair. The two most important things to the James
Dillingham Youngś were their hair and watches, which later they sell to make money to buy new gifts.
They both bought each other gifts which they couldn t use, and it most likely took a toll on their self
esteem. This is

Eusebius History Of The Church Summary
Eusebius explains that he feels he must add a tenth book to his History of the Church, dedicating them
to one Paulinus, so as to chow god s gret deliverance he has bestwoed on the Christians. Furthermore
with the addition of this sectio the work becomes a perfect number (10:1). The churches which had
only shortly previously endured the intense persecution of the empure now enjoyed the great favor of
this same empire (10:2). Eusebius provides a translation of the decree by Constantinus and Licentius
granting religious freedom. In this decree they reason that whatever spirtual forces exist, they would
be well served if they were on their own side. They will therefore allow people of any faith to freely
worship in the hopes that one of these sects will grant divine blessing to the empire. Furthermore any

Similarly in a letter to Anulinus he dictates that clergymen are not to be forced to perform publuc
services. This is because he sees the welfare of the realm as being connected to their ability to serve
God, and so would not hinder this (10:7). However, Licinius was not as pleased with this situation as
he ought to have been. Eusebius writes that Licinius, consumed with envy for Constantine, began to
plot against him. However, all of his plots were foiled by the divine protection Constantine enjoyed. As
such, he next turned to violence and began to persecute the Christians in his realm (10:8). Eusebius
records that Constantine, seeing this, had no choice but to go to war with Licinius. Constantine,
enjoying the favor of God as he did, was easily victorious. Thus Constantine united the empire, and
brought peace and joy to all his subjects

Marketing Plan For Whole Foods Essay
Thirty six years ago John Mackey started a grocery store based on his vision of a business that
provides customers only natural foods. Based on a simple but effective business model, Whole Foods
has grown to a position of market leadership that is now being challenged by low cost organic sellers.
According to Feldman (as cited in Giammona, 2015) Whole Foods continues to face challenges from
competitors going after organic and natural foods more aggressively (para. 4). The company s
differentiation edge against lower cost competitors is fading as competitors have been successfully
emulating the Whole Foods experience (Sharma,2015).Furthermore, Wahba (2016) noted that the
company s Whole Paycheck reputation is hurting sales and driving customers away to other low
priced organic food competitors.
Whole Foods needs to reduce prices due to the new competitive landscape. Since the grocery industry
runs on very low profit margins, in order to reduce prices the company needs to reduce costs. Whole
Foods can leverage its size along with the company s value proposition of working with local farmers
to develop more efficient collaborative networks. The creation of partnerships in integrated networks
opens up opportunities to take advantage of complementary costs structures, the respective partner s
technical expertise, market knowledge and brand equity (reputation) (Swink, Melnyk, Cooper,
Hartley,2014, p.11). The purpose of this paper is to offer recommendations to

My Ethnographic Research On The Restaurant Sweet Tomatoes...
When going out to eat, we don t observe the workers of the restaurant we re at. We become focused on
our friends, our order, and even the people around the restaurant. Sure we talk with the server or smile

restaurants we go to are like. I want people to be informed that in order for the restaurant to be great, it
all starts with its workers. These blue collar workers are the shadows when it comes to restaurant
research, however they are more interesting than one would usually think. To allow people to gain
more knowledge on this, I decided to do my ethnographic research on the community of restaurant
workers, more specifically the community within the restaurant Sweet Tomatoes. I have been part of
the community for almost three years and have been able to interact with all kinds of people that have
worked there. I want people to know what goes on behind the kitchen doors and understand how the
workers interact when the environment becomes stressful or relaxed, so they understand how the
setting influences the employees. To receive the best possible outcome in this observation study, I
decided to examine and write things down on days that I was off. I went in for about an hour and
observed how the employees interacted with guests and each other. I frequented the restaurant on busy

Negative Impacts and Harm of Drinking Alcohol Essay

Essay on Economic Growth and Development
Economic growth is a necessary but not sufficient condition of economic development.
There is no single definition that encompasses all the aspects of economic development. The most
comprehensive definition perhaps of economic development is the one given by Todaro:
Development is not purely an economic phenomenon but rather a multi dimensional process involving
reorganization and re orientation of the entire economic and social system.
Development is a process of improving the quality of all human lives with three equally important
aspects. These are:
1. Raising peoples living levels, i.e. incomes and consumption, levels of food, medical services,
education through relevant growth processes.
2. Creating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amartya Sen defines economic development in terms of personal freedom, freedom to choose from a
range of options. While economic growth may lead to an increase in the purchasing power of people,
if the country has a repressed economy, there is lack of choice and hence personal freedom in
restricted. Hence once again growth has taken place without any development.
While economic growth may result in an improvement in the standard of living of a relatively small
proportion of the population whilst the majority of the population remains poor. It is how the
economic growth is distributed amongst the population that determines the level of development.
Taking into consideration the trickle down theory of economics by
Lewis, if the growth in economy is not sufficient to satisfy the needs and wants of the upper sections,
nothing or very little shall trickle down to the lower sections in the hierarchy of society. Thus, the gap
between the rich and poor widens and though economic growth has impacted a certain section of
society, this cannot be considered development. Another example is an increase in the defence output
of a nation, which accounts for an increased GDP but does not in any way contribute to economic
development.
Economic growth is not enough in itself to measure economic development as even if there has been a
leap in the income of people in a particular nation,

Educating Special Needs Essay
Educating Special Needs Students
Identifying and providing for special needs children is essential to special education. Once a child has
been diagnosis with a disability or multiple disabilities, a plan of care is initiated according to the
severity of their condition and their needs. This plan is individualized; one child s diagnosis is not a
reflection of the wide range conditions that affect many children. Intellectual disabilities can be mild

Autism is labeled among the most complicated, complex disability. Autism is defined as a pervasive
developmental disorder with onset prior to age 3, characterized by qualitatively impaired social
interactive and social communicative skills along with restricted and repetitive repertoire of behavior,
interests, and activities. (Hardman, Drew, Egan, 2013). No particular cause has been linked to autism,
however it has been established that abnormalities in brain structure and function is a general
explanation. (Autism Society, n.d). Autism is a developmental disability that effects how a person
thinks, learns and understands the world. This will pose a large impact on the education of students.
Characteristics of autism differ in all children and can impact students differently. Some can have
difficulties in communication, social interaction, repetitive behavior, restricted interest, sensory
processing, and learning styles. (Autism Society, n.d). Any encounter multiple children with autism

Mammal Exhalation Research Paper
A Mammal is a member of a large group of animals with warm blood, fur and the ability to produce
milk. Gas exchange in mammals occurs by the inhalation of oxygen and the exhalation of carbon
dioxide. As mammals inhale oxygen it passes through the trachea which is a long tube made out of c
shaped cartilage ring which widens and lengthens as the mammal inhales and goes back to its normal
shape when the mammal exhales. Inhalation is when the diaphragm relaxes releasing the pressure
inside the lungs which draws oxygen into the body through the mouth, down the trachea, bronchi
(tubes connecting to the trachea) and the bronchioles (small connecting tubes between the bronchi and
alveoli within the lungs). Exhalation is when it contracts and increases the pressure in the lungs

This means that before carbon dioxide can diffuse into the capillaries through the alveolus there must
be a low carbon dioxide concentration in the alveolus so that is can diffuse out of the blood into the
capillaries and into an alveolus (since diffusion is the movement of particles from an area of high to an
area of low concentration). This is the same for oxygen but in order for oxygen to diffuse into the
capillaries and then into the blood stream there must be a high concentration of oxygen in the
alveolus, from here the oxygen rich blood flows to the many places around the body where it is
needed. A ventilation system allows this process of diffusion of both gases to occur by getting rid of
the carbon dioxide in the alveolus and bringing in more oxygen. A sustainable blood flow is crucial for
Gas Exchange as it is the process of the diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide to and from the blood
stream. The vast network of capillaries surrounding the alveolus ensures a continuous supply of blood
to carry the oxygen away. Within the blood is the presence of the respiratory pigment called
haemoglobin, this pigment binds with blood to increase the oxygen carrying ability of

Malcolm X Chapter Summary
In Malcolm X, Jason Hunter writes about the life, religion, death, and legacy of Malcolm X
throughout his life time, 1925 to 1965. Hunter utilizes a combination of primary and secondary
sources to explain the impact Malcolm X had on his time period, as well as the legacy left behind for
the later generations. Though mainly using The Autobiography of Malcolm X, the author is able to
highlight the details of X s lifetime and legacy. To do this, the author makes use of chronological
order, separating each chapter as if it is a section of X s life. Each of the five main chapters are broken
down into smaller subchapter for the smaller important details. Hunter starts off describing the early
life and troubles X encounters, and end the book off ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author affectively uses The Autobiography of Malcolm X as a primary source, as well as other
accounts and articles doing with those close with X. Despite this, the use of multiple sources became
confusing as a result of the lack of citations and multiple writers. Since each chapter had a different
writer, reading became inconsistent. It is notable that the author attempts to avoid disorganization by
creating subheading and a well structured table of contents. Hunter also does a remarkable job of
adding an index, timeline, appendix of documents, and additional research page in order to allow
readers to dive deeper into the topic. Through all this work and attempted organization, Hunter is able
to emphasize to the audience the legacy Malcolm X left behind as a result of the trials and tribulations
faced during his

King Louis XIV Meaning
King Louis XIV is a regal king who values order and beauty; That is why he should purchase Poussin
´s painting to represent his reign. Poussin´s painting is full of order and unity; yet it shows complete
control of emotion through angles and lines. Making it the clear choice for a representation of our king
s reign. One of the largest struggles for a monarch is overcoming emotion; yet showing emotions like
love and compassion when they are needed. Poussin´s painting has the same show of emotion that a
king needs and that King Louis XIV has. Nadera Suleiman said, ¨Control of emotions or lack of
control causes empires to flourish or fall.¨ The compositional symmetry in Poussin´s painting shows
control; Poussin has perfected the art of directing the eye to where the emotion that is needed is
shown. Every time a conversation is had, there is a blending, or merging of ideas and opinions. A
weak king would try to stop this mixing from happening, thinking that he will loose his people to new
ideas or places. Suleiman states that the painting by Poussin ¨depicts different scenes over a period of
time.¨ King Louis XIV sees the importance of a multicultural society. He sees the importance of new

Jesus Death Allusion
Immediately preceding Jesus death by crucifixion an oral tradition of recounting the story began to
take hold. Numerous scriptures in Evolution of the Word by Marcus J. Borg, the primary version of
the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) Bible that will be used in this paper, contradict each other
not only while recounting the death of Jesus but, a plethora of times while recounting his life or the
interpretations of his message. Even though scriptures contradict each other at every turn it is hardly
enough evidence to simply proclaim that the Bible is false. Oral tradition simplified is the passage of
significant events, like Jesus crucifixion, from one generation to the next via speech. Antiquity was a

the Gospel of Mark was tailored towards early Christians, the majority of which were Jewish. Roman
power had decimated the Jewish Temple and many believed that the second coming was near,
including Mark. Due to the common belief among Christians and Christian Jews that the second
coming was near Mark tailored his death narrative to appeal to his community. Mark writes in verse
15:34 that before Jesus death he cried out with a loud voice My god, my God, why have you forsaken
me? Mark uses this statement as Jesus last because he wants the Jewish Christians to better align with
Jesus. Since the Jewish Temple no longer stood, Jews felt like they were no longer in the presence of
God or that they were forsaken, which aligned them with Jesus. Doctor J. Bradley Chance a professor
at William Jewell College stated that The temple has ceased to be what it is supposed to be; rather, it
has become an instrument of exclusion of both the people of God and non Jews. Mark addresses this
by writing verses 15:37 39 which stated that upon Jesus last breath the curtain of the temple was torn
in two. By using this wording Mark is attempting to illustrate that God is no longer off limits to Non
Jews, and that God is no longer confined to the Temple. During Mark s narration of Jesus death he
was not only retelling a tragic story, he was unveiling the path to God to non Jews and Jews by using
literary devices to bring them closer to

What Is The Purpose Of Hayy Ibn Yaqzan
At the close of Hayy Ibn Yaqzan, Hayy and Absal sail back to Hayy s island (p. 165). Why do they do
this? What is the significance of this episode within the larger aims of Tufayl s text?
In Ibn Tufayl s Hayy Ibn Yaqzan, he tells the story of how Hayy grew up and lived in isolation on an
island and how he came to discover the existence of God independently through philosophical thought
and observation. Tufayl then intertwines Hayy s religious narrative with Absal s, a conventional
religious follower who learns about religion through testimony. When Absal introduces Hayy to his
city, they become disillusioned with the general populace s indifference to the ecstatic experience of
encountering God and Truth and eventually decide to leave the city to attain self enlightenment
through asceticism on the island. This essay will thus argue that while the episode can be interpreted

Common Forms Of Low Rise Construction Used For Domestic...
P1 Understand common forms of low rise construction used for domestic and commercial properties
Steel frame:
Steel frame structures are made as the name suggest from steel, the material is strong and flexible.
When weight is added it bends without cracking. Another characteristic of steel is that its plasticity or
ductility, meaning that when force is added it won t crack however it will lose shape therefore giving
warning for people to evacuate the building. A disadvantage of steel is that is loses strength when
subject to fire. Studies have shown that it can loose up to half its strength when subject to fire,
therefore making it imperative to cover the steel with boards or spray on.
Steel construction is used in
High rise building because of its strength, light weight and the speed in which it can be constructed.
Industrial buildings and warehouse buildings because of the ability to create large span spaces at a low
cost
Temporary structure as its quick to set up and remove.
Steel fabrication: this is when steel is cut to the desire length generally on site and then weld them
together to create the final building. This is generally labor intensive however it can reduce time.
Bolted steel construction: this is when the main bulk of the construction is pre made at the workshop
then bolted into place on site. This tends to be the preferred methods as it saves time and money as
well having the right working conditions.
Advantages of steel structures

Essay on The True Relationship Between Taste and Smell
Introduction
It has been alleged that the perception of flavor and aroma are derived from the senses of chemical
irritation, taste and smell (Rawson, 2003). Collectively, these senses constitute what has been termed
chemosensation, even though these sensory systems are supposedly very different in their physiology
and anatomy. Nevertheless, they do have the ability to regenerate, and their noted susceptibility to
aging and age associated diseases (Rawson, 2003). In the article Is age related olfactory loss uniform
across odorants? It has been reported that nearly one third of all older persons report displeasure with
their sense of smell and taste, and the actual occurrence of sensory loss amongst the elderly is

Loss within the sensory system can be attributed to changes in structural anatomy such as loss of
olfactory receptor cells or taste buds, changes or variance in the levels of particular receptor proteins
or ion channels, or environmental changes surrounding the receptor cell such as changes in the
composition of mucus in the nasal passages or reduction in salivation. An example of loss within
sensory system provided by researcher Nancy Rawson in her (2003) article Age Related Changes in
Perception of Flavor and Aroma . This paper proves the use of dentures as they have the ability to
contribute to changes in taste perception because of the physical barrier to some of the membranes
where receptors reside, reduced salivation and the exposure of the receptors to compounds that the
dental adhesive tends to release. Chronic diseases are also posited as impactful on sensory
functionality, particularly cancer and diabetes, or even therapeutic interventions such as radiation,
surgery and certain medications. In many instances, what causes chemosensory loss is undetermined
and is often untreatable until the cause is determined and more is known regarding the age related
factors that lead to such phenomenon. Researchers have also posited that deficits in sensory perception
may be indicative of neurological disorders such as Alzheimer s disease

Infant Language Development Essay
The understanding of the world can be defined as the infant s notion of other s and the surrounding.
The question is whether infants are pre programmed with an initial concept of the world. Many
experiments conducted supported the idea that a new born infant holds an understanding of the world.
Cognitive development of a human being begins during the prenatal period. Consequently, infants do
have a comprehension of the world. Infants are not mindless in fact they are born with the ability to
identify voices, faces, interact and perform metacognition. An infant is preloaded with a system
designed to socially develop completely. They are able to discern their mother tongue since they have
gotten a earful during the prenatal period, similarly with their mothers voices. An experiment was
performed to prove the validity of this. Ninety one infants from French families were tested with
English and Japanese. The infants were on pacifiers that functioned to calculate the times sucked. The
French infants sucking rate when hearing English sentences were higher than hearing Japanese
sentences. Infants can identify a familiar language by listening to the tempo the specific language.

Battles that Changed the Outcome The Americans started out as a bunch of uncivilized colonies, but

(agreements between Fiat S.p.A. and Treno Alta Velocità T.A.V. S.p.A.), which is measured by
applying the percentage of completion to the total contractual value of the work, to royalties for the
use of the Fiat trademark, calculated as a percentage of the revenues generated by the Group
companies that use it, and the services of executives at the principal companies of the
Group. The increase from 2005 is mainly attributable to higher charges for the use of the trademark.
No Income (expenses) from significant non recurring transactions is reported in 2006. In 2005 a gain
of 1,133 million euros
(net of related costs) was recorded on the transaction regarding the termination of the Master

connected with the Mandatory

Scene One of A Streetcar Named Desire Essay
Scene One of A Streetcar Named Desire
What is the dramatic significance of scene one of the play A Streetcar named Desire?
Scene 1 of this play has great dramatic significance. In this essay, I will be looking at key points
throughout the scene that reveal the key features of the plot, characters, theme and imagery plus how it
is used to give the audience a taster for what is to come.
Scene one is set in New Orleans, I feel this is used because in peoples mind beforehand it has a strong
emotional presence and is often associated with many types of genres such as music. Sight and smell
are often used in plays to help people get a sense of atmosphere and this is no exception. Cleverly as
always to make something stand

Stanley does not fall for her intimidating and self pitying ways from the death of her husband and the
lies of her wealth, the use of polka is premeditated to knowingly be brought to the audience that only
they and Blanche hear it due to her change in mood and actions. The contrast between Stanley and
Blanche is immediate, due to their opposition of childhood backgrounds, Blanche coming from an
aristocratic background to the less well off Stanley who is a relaxed man with strong beliefs and up
until the arrival of
Blanche he knew the true meaning of living(loving and caring for those you love) which when
Blanche arrived made him take out his stress on
Stella.
There is already a lot of things to take in for the audience, even though it can be broken down quite
simply, they soon realise the contrasting opposites of Blanche and Stanley and the current and future
rifts it is likely to cause between Stanley and Stella. We see that Stella is becoming the middle link
between these two characters.
On top of the contrast between Stanley and Stella there is now an extra aspect of Blanche s true
deception. This is first shown when
Blanche, who is offered whiskey from Stanley, comments that she does not like to touch a glass, even
though the audience have clearly seen her drink a glass alone while Stanley is not in the room. They
realise her misleading self I say this

Critique The Heresies Of Arianism Summary
(Ch. 31) In 750 words summarize insights into the deity of Christ based on John, Hebrews, and Paul.
Critique the heresies of Arianism and Ebionism and explain how they fall short of true doctrine.
In the scripture, Jesus also claims an unusual relationship with the heavenly Father, particularly in the
sayings stated in the Gospel John. For example, Jesus claims to be one with the Heavenly Father (John
10: 30), and that to seeing and knowing Jesus is like seeing and knowing the Heavenly Father (John
14: 7 9). The Apostle John s claim in the Gospel John 1:2 that Jesus preexisted before the world (p.
626). Another interesting statement is found in the Gospel John 8: 58, when Jesus identifies Himself
as the I am. Erickson notes that Jesus could have said, I was, but He says, I am. It is also possible that
Jesus was giving a direct connection to the I AM formula by which God identified himself in Exodus
3: 14 15. Morris notes in Jesus case (John 8:58), as in Exodus 3: 14 15, the I am is a way of denoting
existence. 1138
Although some of Jesus s declarations may seem rather ambiguous to us, there is no uncertainty as to
how the scribes interpreted them. The Jews instantaneous reaction to Jesus s statement that He existed
before Abraham was to pick up stones to throw at Jesus (John 8: 59) (pp. 626 627). Not only did Jesus
not dispute the charge that he claimed to be God, but he also recognized his disciples ascribing of
deity to Him. The strongest case of this is

Michael Parenti s View On Human Nature And Why The Topic...
1. Discuss Michael Parenti s view on human nature and why the topic is important for our course:
Michael Parenti, author and political scientist, describes human nature as a topic deeply intertwined
with politics. The reason for this is because arguments for and against human nature being unalterable
and the cause of everything destructive are both ideologically motivated and have a political
implication. According to him, to say that human nature is accountable for our current social relations
is no different than what renowned thinkers of the past have asserted for their own social
circumstances. For instance, philosophers of the Classical Era such as Plato and Socrates believed
everyone belonged to their place in the hierarchy. That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem that Parenti proposes is that the worst of these qualities are acknowledged as central,
while the best treated as secondary. Parenti extends his argument by saying that these qualities are
seen as basic and are associated with human instinct. For example, some argue that people have the
instinct to earn money and that this is evident in the fact that people earn money. Parenti discards this
as a cycle of post hoc ergo propter hoc, in which the existence of something is weakly explained by
holding the very thing s existence as its reason for existing.
Both arguments on the topic of human instinct, concludes Parenti, fails to acknowledge the complex
social processes that intertwine between innate proclivity and natural behavior. This topic is important
to discuss in a politics class because it is a fundamental argument that can potentially give insight into
how expansion of the capitalist system can produce political activity in the world. Parenti emphasizes
that the global division of labor between the rich and poor and military coercion cannot be simply
labeled as the outcome of the natural human way. For saying this is declaring the inescapability of the
situation and dismissing all possibilities of social justice in the future.
3. Discuss Johan Galtung s Center Periphery framework:
The representatives of nearly all 198 countries in the world gather at the United Nations General
Assembly

The area is so underpopulated there is little direct human threat apart from over grazing of cattle
farming operations. Predation from feral cats foxes is a direct cause of the decline in the deserts Bilby
population, habitat loss also plays another key role.
The escape or deliberate release of domestic cats led to a free living population, they are now found on
the entire continent of Australia; Researchers have found the Northern Territory s feral cat population
exceeds 100,000; they kill an estimated amount of 3.65 million small native animals a year.
Feral camels were originally imported into Australia from India, Afghanistan Arabia for use in
construction during colonisation of parts of central Western Australia. The population now exceeds 1
million. Camels ingest 80% of the plant species available leaving little of local indigenous people or
native herbivorous fauna. Their soft padded feet mean they don t erode the earth like feral horses or
cattle however they can destabilise dune crests which may lead to erosion.

Marx Vs Freud
Marx and Freud are two thinkers of roughly the same time period, mostly the 19th century, into the
20th for Freud. Comparing and contrasting their theories provides for a deeper understanding of both
of their philosophies. Marx s theory of human nature stresses the idea that people are inherently social.
He saw that most of an individual s behavior is dependent on the actions of others, and noted that even
the most mundane aspects of human existence are socially learned. Additionally, he believed that a
person s society determines their behavior, noting differences among cultures and the fact that there is
no one, unified way of thinking that all cultures subscribe to. This ties in well with his materialist
theory of history, which places tremendous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I like Marx s ideas about community and harmony among people in a society, I question
whether a system like communism could ever work effectively. I also agree with his opinions on
capitalism, as I find it very limiting, disheartening, and unfulfilling. With regard to Freud, I find his
ideas about childhood sexuality very interesting and persuasive. However, only with the
acknowledgement that a child does not experience sexuality or sexual desire in accordance with the
adult definition. Although his ideas about the unconscious and repression are interesting, but I do not
know if I believe they are true. While neither of these philosophies are perfect, they both contain

The Song Analysis Of The Song Hotel California
The song hotel California The song hotel California was released by an artist known as Eagles in
1976. The genre of the song is classic rock. It was written by Glenn Frey and Don Felder with help of
Don Henley. California is the setting of this song, even though it used to relate the entire America.
This song is all about the exaggeration of the American culture and some specific girls in America. In
addition, it touches the uneasy balance between commerce and art in America. Hotel California is a
metaphor for the LA high life and the cons and pros of living in the music industry. Hotel California
tells the story of a man driving along a super highway. On his way, the man gets tired and decides to
stop at a hotel which ends up being a pleasure palace with a sinister. While listening, a casual listener
would tend to think how lovely place California might be. The listener might wish to crash California
probably for a weekend, or order for a room service just to enjoy the lovely place, Hoskyns, B. (2006).
. But when someone listens this song keenly, he or she might start wondering if the hotel is as good as
Guantanamo or Palm Springs simply because it says, you can check any time you like but you can
never leave! As a matter of fact this song has its dark side. The song Hotel California has got various
lyrics. For instance, warm smell of colitis which is direct reference to a plant known as colitis. Colitis
is one the common desert plants in America. In

  • 2. Stop And Frisk, Automobile Searches, And Border And... Though the Fourth Amendment can lay the foundation of the laws of search and seizures and warrants, there are still many controversies as to what is classified as a violation of an individual s Fourth Amendment rights. However, the wording of the Fourth Amendment can be confusing as different individuals interpret privacy in various ways. Terms that may be interpreted differently in the Fourth Amendment can include: 1) right of privacy, 2) search, 3) seizure, 4) arrest, and 5) reasonableness. This paper will examine how each term relates to the practice of stop and frisk, automobile searches, and border and regulatory searches. The rights of privacy are described to be personal belongings or home. As defined in Merriam Webster (2015), the right to privacy is the legal right of a person to have reasonable privacy whereas their private affairs are not made known, or their likeness to be made public in regards to that person s habits, mode of living, and occupation. Individuals may call upon their rights of privacy when they believe that those rights have been violated. Situations like this may occur when an officer searches an individuals property, or their person when performing a stop and frisk. However the fact remains that when individuals are guilty of violating any law, those rights are then diminished to a degree. When performing any search and seizure, law enforcement must have a warrant. Situations when a warrant is not needed would then fall under the Good Faith ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Negative Effects On Public Media Today the data linking violence in the television to violence in society are superior to those linking cancer and tobacco (Grossman 31). The digital revolution of television symbolizes that the technological advances have taken the lead of modern society. The relation between children s violent television viewing and their development is assignable in various ways. Research studies raised some significant questions about this field and suggest the possible negative consequences that televised violence could bring to the youth. As the most common and popular public media, television deserved society s critical attention on its detrimental effects among children. People who is responsible for major consequences should be attacked by actions such as allowing or profiting inappropriate images on children s programs, which can cause both physical and psychological problems to the youth viewers and even lead to criminal behaviors. Violent images on children s television programs should be discern as the complex interplay that lead to major consequences in children s future development. Nowadays, under the exposure of television, aggressive images are often shown and even suggested in children s shows or cartoons. Aggressive actions involving animated characters are easy to caught youngsters attention. Professor Chris Boyatzis , a member of the Cal State Fullerton Child Development Department, further proved by expressing that, Violent cartoons have been a staple of ... • 4. Factors Affecting Seasonal Affective Disorder 1. Although many studies have focused on individual factors relating to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), this study sought to extend such research by determining whether cognitive, behavioral and psychophysiological factors that associate to individuals with nonseasonal depression would correlate to those of SAD (Rohan, Sigmon Dorhofer, 2003). 2. Before gathering the data, the researchers had a couple hypotheses in mind. They first hypothesized that women with a history of SAD would encounter and report more negative thinking as well as reduced activity frequency and enjoyment during the winter time. Not only that, but they expected that a predicted ruminative response style in the fall would help foretell the severity of depressive symptoms later during the winter time. The researchers then went on to assume that women with a history of SAD would ultimately report more depressed mood and experience greater psychophysiological reactivity as a response to low light intensity stimuli during the winter time relative to controls. 3. The type of research method involved was a correlational study, however the researchers ended up taking on a longitudinal, multimethod approach. Twenty women with a history of SAD and twenty women with equivalent age and education level were recruited for this study, however two participants dropped out of the study who had a history of SAD, leaving them with eighteen SAD participants and twenty controls. Each participant went through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Economic Policies Of Supply Side Economics Ever wondered why you have to pay those extra couple of cents at the grocery store? Or why gas prices seem to be constantly fluctuating? The answer lies within a nation s economic policy. Economic policy is the actions taken by a government to influence its economy. Types of economic policy actions can include setting interest rates through a federal reserve, regulating the level of government expenditures, creating private property rights, and setting tax rates. Economic policy hopes to accomplish economic growth and a stable economy. More specifically, the federal government hopes to accomplish stable prices, economic growth, and full employment by its economic policy. Economists debate over three economic policies: supply side ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The methods that supply side economics uses to improve economic growth are to lower marginal taxes and less government regulation. Under President Ronald Reagan, Congress passed a plan that would slash taxes by $749 billion over five years. As a result, Reagan was called a great advocate for supply side economics and was praised for his great leadership. Although supply side economics is based on the idea of encouraging people to work harder, it also seems to not always work. For example, Congress passed the cut in tax rates after Reagan was elected, but tax revenues did not rise. This goes to show that other economic policies need to be examined in order for the economy to be successful. Demand side economics is based on the belief that the most important thing affecting economic activity and thus resulting in the most stable economy is consumer demand for goods and services. Also called Keynesian economics, demand side economics was developed after the Great Depression when supply side economics fell through. Demand side economics was founded by John Maynard Keynes and is based on aggregate demand. Aggregate demand is the total level of demand for desired goods and services, which is made up of the sum of consumption expenditure, investment expenditure, government expenditure, and net exports. Demand side economics utilizes methods such as increasing the buying power of the lower and middle classes, which increases the demand for more goods ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Great Ideas Of Thomas Hobbes Leviathan, And Adam... hile there are many big ideas in Thomas Hobbes Leviathan, and Adam Smith s The Wealth of Nations, the most important ideas deal with human nature and social order. In this paper, I will argue Hobbes lack of optimism, and Smith s lack of pessimism in their theories of human nature, and will also discuss how our idea of social order changes once these aspects are taken into consideration. Hobbes theory of human nature begins with him stating that all men are created equal. With all men being created equal, this means that everyone is equally capable of killing each other, because while, there may be found one man sometimes manifestly stronger in body, the weaker may be compensated for by his quicker mind. This equality of ability produces equality of hope for the attaining of our goals, and that when two or more men desire the same thing which they cannot both enjoy, they become enemies and attempt to destroy each other. Hobbes called this time when men oppose each other war, and said that there were three basic causes for war: competition, distrust, and glory. Hobbes also maintains the belief that in this state of nature, humans have a natural tendency to obtain as much power as they can, and that the only way they will ever be satisfied with their power is by acquiring more power, going so far as to harm or kill others in order attain what they desire. Thus, the state of nature is a war of every man against every man, where humans live in perpetual fear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That is in contrast of the 26 percent of adults without a disability and get no exercise. With those stats it shows the importance of exercise and how vital it is to get out and active. Dramatic irony is a very critical part of the story, especially while evaluating the situation. Personally, I think it s right here on the premises. Probably right under our very noses. What you think Jack? (Roald Dahl 9). She killed her husband with a frozen lamb leg after discussing troubling news that was never revealed. Mary called the police, who were also her husband s coworkers. The police never figured out what the weapon was or who killed him. Gift of the Magi exercises many literary and DIDLS elements as Della tries to salvage her last pennies to buy a meaningful gift for her husband, Jim. One of the most vital parts of the story is situational irony. Della, said he, let s put our Christmas gifts away and keep them a while. They re too nice to use now. I sold the watch to get the money to buy the combs. And now I think we should have our dinner (O. Henry 1). Sadness is expressed as they come to realize that they both bought gifts that were unable to use the gifts they received. Della had sold her hair to have enough money to buy a watch for Jim, and she got a comb. Jim sold his watch to buy the combs for Della, and she bought him a watch. This is considered situational irony because the situation is reversed. Another important element of Gift of the Magi is foreshadowing. The James Dillingham Youngs were very proud of two things which they owned. One thing was Jim s gold watch. It had once belonged to his father. And, long ago, it had belonged to his father s father. The other thing was Della s hair. Eusebius provides a translation of the decree by Constantinus and Licentius granting religious freedom. In this decree they reason that whatever spirtual forces exist, they would be well served if they were on their own side. Based on a simple but effective business model, Whole Foods has grown to a position of market leadership that is now being challenged by low cost organic sellers. According to Feldman (as cited in Giammona, 2015) Whole Foods continues to face challenges from competitors going after organic and natural foods more aggressively (para. 4). The company s differentiation edge against lower cost competitors is fading as competitors have been successfully emulating the Whole Foods experience (Sharma,2015).Furthermore, Wahba (2016) noted that the company s Whole Paycheck reputation is hurting sales and driving customers away to other low priced organic food competitors. Whole Foods needs to reduce prices due to the new competitive landscape. Since the grocery industry runs on very low profit margins, in order to reduce prices the company needs to reduce costs. Whole Foods can leverage its size along with the company s value proposition of working with local farmers to develop more efficient collaborative networks. The creation of partnerships in integrated networks opens up opportunities to take advantage of complementary costs structures, the respective partner s technical expertise, market knowledge and brand equity (reputation) (Swink, Melnyk, Cooper, Hartley,2014, p.11). I want people to be informed that in order for the restaurant to be great, it all starts with its workers. These blue collar workers are the shadows when it comes to restaurant research, however they are more interesting than one would usually think. To allow people to gain more knowledge on this, I decided to do my ethnographic research on the community of restaurant workers, more specifically the community within the restaurant Sweet Tomatoes. I have been part of the community for almost three years and have been able to interact with all kinds of people that have worked there. I want people to know what goes on behind the kitchen doors and understand how the workers interact when the environment becomes stressful or relaxed, so they understand how the setting influences the employees. To receive the best possible outcome in this observation study, I decided to examine and write things down on days that I was off. There is no single definition that encompasses all the aspects of economic development. The most comprehensive definition perhaps of economic development is the one given by Todaro: Development is not purely an economic phenomenon but rather a multi dimensional process involving reorganization and re orientation of the entire economic and social system. Development is a process of improving the quality of all human lives with three equally important aspects. These are: 1. Raising peoples living levels, i.e. incomes and consumption, levels of food, medical services, education through relevant growth processes. 2. Creating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amartya Sen defines economic development in terms of personal freedom, freedom to choose from a range of options. While economic growth may lead to an increase in the purchasing power of people, if the country has a repressed economy, there is lack of choice and hence personal freedom in restricted. Hence once again growth has taken place without any development. While economic growth may result in an improvement in the standard of living of a relatively small proportion of the population whilst the majority of the population remains poor. It is how the economic growth is distributed amongst the population that determines the level of development. Taking into consideration the trickle down theory of economics by Lewis, if the growth in economy is not sufficient to satisfy the needs and wants of the upper sections, nothing or very little shall trickle down to the lower sections in the hierarchy of society. Thus, the gap between the rich and poor widens and though economic growth has impacted a certain section of society, this cannot be considered development. Another example is an increase in the defence output of a nation, which accounts for an increased GDP but does not in any way contribute to economic development. • 22. Mammal Exhalation Research Paper A Mammal is a member of a large group of animals with warm blood, fur and the ability to produce milk. Gas exchange in mammals occurs by the inhalation of oxygen and the exhalation of carbon dioxide. As mammals inhale oxygen it passes through the trachea which is a long tube made out of c shaped cartilage ring which widens and lengthens as the mammal inhales and goes back to its normal shape when the mammal exhales. Inhalation is when the diaphragm relaxes releasing the pressure inside the lungs which draws oxygen into the body through the mouth, down the trachea, bronchi (tubes connecting to the trachea) and the bronchioles (small connecting tubes between the bronchi and alveoli within the lungs). Exhalation is when it contracts and increases the pressure in the lungs pushing carbon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that before carbon dioxide can diffuse into the capillaries through the alveolus there must be a low carbon dioxide concentration in the alveolus so that is can diffuse out of the blood into the capillaries and into an alveolus (since diffusion is the movement of particles from an area of high to an area of low concentration). This is the same for oxygen but in order for oxygen to diffuse into the capillaries and then into the blood stream there must be a high concentration of oxygen in the alveolus, from here the oxygen rich blood flows to the many places around the body where it is needed. A ventilation system allows this process of diffusion of both gases to occur by getting rid of the carbon dioxide in the alveolus and bringing in more oxygen. A sustainable blood flow is crucial for Gas Exchange as it is the process of the diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide to and from the blood stream. The vast network of capillaries surrounding the alveolus ensures a continuous supply of blood to carry the oxygen away. Mark writes in verse 15:34 that before Jesus death he cried out with a loud voice My god, my God, why have you forsaken me? Mark uses this statement as Jesus last because he wants the Jewish Christians to better align with Jesus. Since the Jewish Temple no longer stood, Jews felt like they were no longer in the presence of God or that they were forsaken, which aligned them with Jesus. Doctor J. P1 Understand common forms of low rise construction used for domestic and commercial properties Steel frame: Steel frame structures are made as the name suggest from steel, the material is strong and flexible. When weight is added it bends without cracking. Another characteristic of steel is that its plasticity or ductility, meaning that when force is added it won t crack however it will lose shape therefore giving warning for people to evacuate the building. A disadvantage of steel is that is loses strength when subject to fire. Studies have shown that it can loose up to half its strength when subject to fire, therefore making it imperative to cover the steel with boards or spray on. Nevertheless, they do have the ability to regenerate, and their noted susceptibility to aging and age associated diseases (Rawson, 2003). Loss within the sensory system can be attributed to changes in structural anatomy such as loss of olfactory receptor cells or taste buds, changes or variance in the levels of particular receptor proteins or ion channels, or environmental changes surrounding the receptor cell such as changes in the composition of mucus in the nasal passages or reduction in salivation. An example of loss within sensory system provided by researcher Nancy Rawson in her (2003) article Age Related Changes in Perception of Flavor and Aroma . This paper proves the use of dentures as they have the ability to contribute to changes in taste perception because of the physical barrier to some of the membranes where receptors reside, reduced salivation and the exposure of the receptors to compounds that the dental adhesive tends to release. Chronic diseases are also posited as impactful on sensory functionality, particularly cancer and diabetes, or even therapeutic interventions such as radiation, surgery and certain medications. The question is whether infants are pre programmed with an initial concept of the world. Many experiments conducted supported the idea that a new born infant holds an understanding of the world. Cognitive development of a human being begins during the prenatal period. Consequently, infants do have a comprehension of the world. Infants are not mindless in fact they are born with the ability to identify voices, faces, interact and perform metacognition. An infant is preloaded with a system designed to socially develop completely. They are able to discern their mother tongue since they have gotten a earful during the prenatal period, similarly with their mothers voices. An experiment was performed to prove the validity of this. Ninety one infants from French families were tested with English and Japanese. Crimson with fury, Oliver started up; overthrew the chair and table; seized Noah by the throat; shook him, in the violence of his rage, till his teeth chattered in his head; and collecting his whole force into one heavy blow, felled him to the ground. This quote describes how Oliver acted with rage when Noah abused his mother. The remarks in the beginning of chapter 6 are highly ironic as he describes how mourners present at the funeral of a wealthy elderly relative are able to prevail over their misery, when actually get to inherit a lot of wealth. It is quite a contradiction, how there is a lot of sorrow for the loss of a beloved relative of a poor family to a loved one of a wealthy family. Charles uses this to give members of a richer family a better understanding of the fast growing gap between the poor and rich. When Twist departs from the undertaker s place heading towards London, he goes up to the workhouse,to meet his friend Dick, even though he was unwell. Scene 1 of this play has great dramatic significance. In this essay, I will be looking at key points throughout the scene that reveal the key features of the plot, characters, theme and imagery plus how it is used to give the audience a taster for what is to come. Scene one is set in New Orleans, I feel this is used because in peoples mind beforehand it has a strong emotional presence and is often associated with many types of genres such as music. The contrast between Stanley and Blanche is immediate, due to their opposition of childhood backgrounds, Blanche coming from an aristocratic background to the less well off Stanley who is a relaxed man with strong beliefs and up until the arrival of Blanche he knew the true meaning of living(loving and caring for those you love) which when Blanche arrived made him take out his stress on Stella. There is already a lot of things to take in for the audience, even though it can be broken down quite simply, they soon realise the contrasting opposites of Blanche and Stanley and the current and future rifts it is likely to cause between Stanley and Stella. We see that Stella is becoming the middle link between these two characters. On top of the contrast between Stanley and Stella there is now an extra aspect of Blanche s true deception. • 43. Critique The Heresies Of Arianism Summary (Ch. 31) In 750 words summarize insights into the deity of Christ based on John, Hebrews, and Paul. Critique the heresies of Arianism and Ebionism and explain how they fall short of true doctrine. In the scripture, Jesus also claims an unusual relationship with the heavenly Father, particularly in the sayings stated in the Gospel John. For example, Jesus claims to be one with the Heavenly Father (John 10: 30), and that to seeing and knowing Jesus is like seeing and knowing the Heavenly Father (John 14: 7 9). The Apostle John s claim in the Gospel John 1:2 that Jesus preexisted before the world (p. 626). Another interesting statement is found in the Gospel John 8: 58, when Jesus identifies Himself as the I am. Erickson notes that Jesus could have said, I was, but He says, I am. It is also possible that Jesus was giving a direct connection to the I AM formula by which God identified himself in Exodus 3: 14 15. Morris notes in Jesus case (John 8:58), as in Exodus 3: 14 15, the I am is a way of denoting existence. 1138 Although some of Jesus s declarations may seem rather ambiguous to us, there is no uncertainty as to how the scribes interpreted them. The Jews instantaneous reaction to Jesus s statement that He existed before Abraham was to pick up stones to throw at Jesus (John 8: 59) (pp. 626 627). • 44. Michael Parenti s View On Human Nature And Why The Topic... 1. Discuss Michael Parenti s view on human nature and why the topic is important for our course: Michael Parenti, author and political scientist, describes human nature as a topic deeply intertwined with politics. The reason for this is because arguments for and against human nature being unalterable and the cause of everything destructive are both ideologically motivated and have a political implication. According to him, to say that human nature is accountable for our current social relations is no different than what renowned thinkers of the past have asserted for their own social circumstances. For instance, philosophers of the Classical Era such as Plato and Socrates believed everyone belonged to their place in the hierarchy. That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem that Parenti proposes is that the worst of these qualities are acknowledged as central, while the best treated as secondary. Parenti extends his argument by saying that these qualities are seen as basic and are associated with human instinct. For example, some argue that people have the instinct to earn money and that this is evident in the fact that people earn money. Parenti discards this as a cycle of post hoc ergo propter hoc, in which the existence of something is weakly explained by holding the very thing s existence as its reason for existing. Both arguments on the topic of human instinct, concludes Parenti, fails to acknowledge the complex social processes that intertwine between innate proclivity and natural behavior. This topic is important to discuss in a politics class because it is a fundamental argument that can potentially give insight into how expansion of the capitalist system can produce political activity in the world. Parenti emphasizes that the global division of labor between the rich and poor and military coercion cannot be simply labeled as the outcome of the natural human way. For saying this is declaring the inescapability of the situation and dismissing all possibilities of social justice in the future. 3. • 46. Marx Vs Freud Marx and Freud are two thinkers of roughly the same time period, mostly the 19th century, into the 20th for Freud. Comparing and contrasting their theories provides for a deeper understanding of both of their philosophies. Marx s theory of human nature stresses the idea that people are inherently social. He saw that most of an individual s behavior is dependent on the actions of others, and noted that even the most mundane aspects of human existence are socially learned. Additionally, he believed that a person s society determines their behavior, noting differences among cultures and the fact that there is no one, unified way of thinking that all cultures subscribe to.
