Long Run Research Paper
What are tax consequences and how can it affect you in the long run? It is said, taxes are the rice we
pay for a civilized society (Debt.org). What different ways are there to avoid or at least minimize tax
consequences? There are some ways to make paying taxes also beneficial.
Capital Gains Taxes
There are many different types of taxes out there that everyone has to pay at some point in their life.
There is a tax on Income, for instance, capital gains taxes, estate taxes, and inheritance taxes. Next is
property tax, the taxes you pay towards your real estate. Lastly taxes on goods and services, excise
taxes and user fees. These are all important required taxes to live in the United States but what is each
tax in depth? An overview ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They do not always go up in value they also go down. If a person were to sell an asset for less than its
basis, that person would face capital loss. This would come from a loss from investments, but not
from the sale of personal property that can be used to offset capital gains. An example would be if a
person has $50,000 in long term gains from selling one stock, but have $30,000 in long term losses
from the sale of another, then that person could only be taxed on $20,000 worth of long term capital
gains. (TurboTax) Although if capital losses are over the capital gains, then the person can use the loss
to offset up to $3,000 of the other income. If there is more than $3,000 in capital losses, the excess can
be carried forward to future years to offset income in those years

Social Issues In Social Work
Many problems remain in the American society such as the increasing number of people living in
poverty, the juvenile crime rate, unaffordable housing for the working middle class and poor people,
backlash against illegal immigration, and the shortfall in social welfare programs (black). Social
workers try to combat these problems, which are a result of society, economics, and development
problems. Social work in the United States is a profession about promoting and offering social
services through practicing with people, communities, and organizations; advocating with and for
clients; and creating social work knowledge (Writing in social work). Social work in the United States
utilized the direct practice with individuals, families, and communities. Social workers need to
continue to advocate for social problems (Writing in social work).
During poor law times, society aimed to exclude and discriminate against those who don t belong
(red). This trend has continued through today, as the exclusion of people still exists. The legacy of
workhouses and of the Poor Law remains today in the ideology that the family should be the main
provider of care for those in need, poor people should be deterred from seeking help, and public
assistance should be below the minimum wage (red).
In the 19th century, Rescue organizations emerged to prevent child cruelty (red). These organizations
were a voluntary effort with the task of investigating and bringing justice to child cruelty. Today, we

Medea s Quest For The Golden Fleece
Synopsis
The play of Medea was written by Seneca around 50 CE. In Greek Myth Medea is the daughter of
King Aeetes of Colchis, granddaughter of Helios and niece of Circe. She seeks revenge on her
husband Jason after he abandons her in Corinth in order to marry Creon s daughter. Over ten years
before the start of the play Medea had met Jason when she assisted him in his quest for the Golden
Fleece using her powers to aid him in impossible tasks that her father had set in front of Jason as his
price for obtaining the Golden Fleece. As assisting Jason meant that she was betraying both her family
and her country she fled with Jason to Thessaly. Their peace did not last long and they were forced to
flee back to Corinth where everything was fine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is set on getting revenge for the wrongs done against her right from the beginning of the play. The
Medea in Seneca s play is no weak damsel or victim of fate, she is a strong and powerful woman, a
force of nature, who will destroy anyone or anything that wrongs her, even killing her sons without
hesitation or lament. She demands to be feared rather than pitied and does not hesitate to do what she
feels she must in order to right the wrongs against her.
The Chorus Seneca s chorus is objective and does not hesitate in condemning the actions they are
witnessing. This is fine because Medea does not need their sympathy or permission, she is a woman
who makes things happen and does not rely on the gods.
Jason
In my opinion Jason takes the feminine role in the play. He comes across as rather weak and helpless
allowing the fates to dictate his course rather than fighting. He is also too willing to try to help Medea
and to trust her, when she pretends to have a change of heart. Also the fact that at the end of the play
he laments to the gods able why they allow such things to happen, rather than vowing to avenge his
son s deaths, confirms to me that he has taken the feminine role in the play.

Selecting a Locale for Global Outsourcing
Selecting a Locale for Global Outsourcing
Introduction:
The process of globalization is changing the way that companies large and small must conduct
business to survive. From external factors such as the international laws and widely varying domestic
tax policies to internal changes to personnel or process, free trade policies are altering operational
strategy, especially for small companies engaging in growth. One of the most determinant changes
brought on by free trade and its gradual permeation of the developing world is the appeal of global
outsourcing or off shoring for growing American businesses. Outsourcing is the practice by which
companies will employ agencies external to the company, and increasingly external even to the
primary country of operation, in order to attain specialty services at a fee per service basis. Also
important to the discussion, the concept of off shoring will find a company expanding into a new
international location by establishing a satellite base of operations within. Each strategy carries its
own unique set of challenges and advantages. Part of our task as a growing company verging on its
first venture of internationalization is to determine what balance of these strategies might best serve
our interests.
Factors in a Global Context:
There are many global factors to consider that have been emergent with the spread of globalization.
For a firm seeking an ideal context for establishing a new manufacturing center, cost is of course a

Asperger Diagnostic Scale-Revised (RAADS-R)
The Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale Revised(RAADS R)
Psy/320 Research Methods and Statistics
November 8,2016
Dr. Amy Carrison
Abstract
Even as adults, sometimes we tend to question whether or not there is something more to us. In years
past, and often still is, the subject of autism was unknown, and often misunderstood. Many times
autistic tendencies are just dismissed as either bad behaviors or defiance. Many times the individual
also has an underlying condition such as attention deficit disorder. This article sheds some light on that
subject. However, one needs to remember that the article in question, just as the RAADS R is not a
way to diagnose autism spectrum disorder. The person who is participating in the study ... Show more

The researchers at these centers have to agree on the diagnosis of each of the participants. However,
since 2013, Asperger s Syndrome is no longer considered a standalone diagnosis. (
Http://www.parents.com/health/autism/what Happened To Aspergers/ , 2014). Because Asperger s
Syndrome is now on the autism spectrum, it is now easier to agree on how to treat the person who has
to live with the disorder.
Getting back to the RAADS R itself, the questions on the test are symptom based, (64) and non
symptom based (16). They are divided into four subscales as follows, social relatedness (thirty nine),
circumscribed interests (fourteen questions), language (seven), and sensory motor (twenty). The main
reason for the screening is to identify whether or not the participant was a good candidate for further
diagnosis of ASD. During the initial screening, the participants were given the RAADS R by
clinicians. For proper diagnosis the questions were clarified so that they were properly entered on a
Likert scale. Sex did not affect whether or not a person could have autism/Asperger s Disorder.
However, it does play a part. Age does not appear to affect the

A Compare and Contrast of Two Statuettes
I have chosen as the subject of my essay to contrast and compare two female statuettes from ancient
cultures. The first is an ancient Egyptian statuette named The Offering Bearer which was discovered
about 1920 in the tomb of Meketre in Thebes and appears to have been made around 1985 B.C.E. by
an unknown. (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2007). The second is an unnamed figurine commonly
referred to as Statuette of A Standing Woman. This statuette, whose artist is unknown, is one of
several figurines collectively called the Tanagra ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2007). The Statuette of A Standing Woman and the other Tanagra
figurines, however, marked a new trend in Greek art of examining and representing common women
in every day pursuits. Marking women as worthy of notice just for existing rather then needing special
status to be recognized. (Department of Greek and Roman Art, 2007).
The culture of Egypt at the time The Offering Bearer was made seems to be one that reserved art for
chronicling and celebrating fantastic or sacred occurrences, whereas Greek art at the time of the
Tanagra figurines had learned to find artistic potential in every day life. Egyptian life was still heavily
tied to absolute rule of pharaohs and worship of multiple gods as a defining force in everyday life.
Materials and tools would have been scarce and most art reserved for the ruling or wealthy classes.
Greece however, was an evolving culture. Greece had a history of embracing new ideas in social,
scholarly, and artistic endeavors.
In conclusion both sculptures depict a common thread in the society which created them. One a
common occurrence where the act being portrayed elevates the female subject to a more important
position then she would otherwise have enjoyed the other the beauty of women in common life.

The Warning Signs and Risk Factors of Teen Depression
People constantly overlook the severity of depression, more importantly, major teen depression, which
presents a legitimate obstacle in society. Teen depression s intensity results from society s general lack
of acknowledgement of the rising affair. The surprisingly low amount of people aware of teen
depression creates a serious matter in today s world. Within the past year, 15.8% of teens
contemplated the option of suicide, due to their major depression going unnoticed or untreated for
(Vidourek). Most of the causes and signs of depression lie hidden within the individual since
majorities of people experience them without any real issue arising. A sudden change in behavior is a
main sign of someone being depressed, which could lead to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Antidepressants intend to regulate emotions and decrease depressing thoughts, but they have adverse
side effects such as anxiousness, restlessness, and even a possible increase in suicidal thoughts (Teen
Depression: When Should You Worry?). Antidepressants should be utilized as part of a larger medical
plan, such as combining them with counseling and other treatment options (Dumke). A combination of
psychotherapy [a cognitive behavioral therapy] and antidepressants seems to work the best and may
keep depression from recurring concerning teens with depression (Adolescents and Clinical
Depression). Unfortunately, the economic impact of the treatments make it harder for families to
provide help for their depressed teenagers. The costs include outpatient care, medication,
hospitalization, and residential treatment (Economic Impact of Depression). Few people acquire
consistent medical treatment as a depressed individual, resulting in less chances of helping teens with
major depression. Since money expresses a barrier between treatment and no help at all, some schools
even provide opportunities and programs that address the suicide and depression problem to youth in
an attempt to help them (Strunk). Overcoming teen depression becomes realistic once society
acknowledges the signs, warnings, causes, and treatment options, and finding ways to make

An Automatic Contribution Arrangement is a feature in a retirement plan that allows the Bank to
enroll an eligible employee in the Bank s 401(k) plan unless the employee elects otherwise. Enroll in
this context means that part of the employee s per tax wages are contributed to the 401(k) plan on the

Periodontitis Essay
Periodontitis is defined as an inflammatory disease of the supporting tissues of the teeth caused by
specific microorganisms or groups of specific microorganisms, resulting in progressive destruction of
the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone with pocket formation, recession or both. 1 Periodontal
diseaseisan ubiquitous infection in humans displaying the classic hallmarks of the inflammatory
response. Late sequelaeof periodontal diseases are the loss of alveolar bone,,mobile teeth leading to a
demolished periodontium. Therefore, earlier detection and treatment leads to improved outcomes for
patients.2
The main transgressors in Periodontal diseases are gram negative bacteria that elicit a host response,
which cause an aftermath of osseous and soft tissue destruction. The host response plays the role of a
second fiddle through mediators like proteinases, cytokines and prostaglandins causing severe tissue
loss.2 Cytokines are the linchpins in mediating numerous biological activities including proliferation,
development, differentiation, homeostasis, regeneration, repair and inflammation. ... Show more

Dido As A Victim Of The Gods
Despite how most reader may view her, Dido is considered to be a victim of the gods, which
ultimately lead her to her own death. When introduced in book 1 of Virgil s tale Aeneid, told to Aeneas
by his mother Venus (disguised as a huntress), Dido is revealed as a dignified queen, beautiful,
wealthy and respected by the people of Carthage. At the same time, she is resolute in her
determination not to marry again.
As told by Venus, Her husband was Sychaeus, of all Phoenicians richest in land, and greatly loved by
her, (Book I, lines 468 469). Although her husband was the richest of all Tyre, her brother Pygmalion,
King of Tyre, was obsessed with greed and his money, he decides to kill him and manages to keep this
act from Dido till she had a dream with her husband in it. He urged her then to make haste and take
flight, leaving her fatherland, and to assist the journey revealed a buried treasure of all time, unknown
to any, a weight of gold and silver (Lines 487 490). Dido manages to preserve the memory of her dead
husband, Sychaeus, whose murder causes her to flee her home city of Tyre. Fortunately, she maintains
her focus on her responsibilities. She gathers people from Tyre and sails to a land with stone walls
going higher and the citadel of Carthage, the new town (Lines 500 501), at which the city begins its
construction and she becomes the queen.

Parviz Amin Quotes
Imagine that one day you had to leave behind everything you ve ever know. You had to leave your
family and your country because it was slowly falling apart and you had no idea if you would ever get
to see it again. How would you react? In the novel Septembers of Shiraz this is exactly the situation
Parviz Amin is dealing with. His homeland, the country of Iran has been overtaken by a group called
the Revolutionary guards. This group hates anyone and everyone who supported or was related to the
Shah which was the previous ruler of the country. It just so happens Parviz s father meets that
description and eventually is arrested by the same group for being suspected of being a zionist spy.
Parviz has to deal with all of this all the way on the opposite side of the globe in New York City along
with his own issues of just starting out his college life. His negative attitude about this whole situation
definitely isn t helping either. Parviz s pessimistic attitude and lack of beliefs causes a strongly
negative affect on his situation and his daily life. Parviz Amin is a young adult starting college in New
York City which is almost on the opposite side of the world from his homeland of Iran. He is alone
and staying with a strict Jewish family called the Mendelsons who are very kind and understanding
towards him yet this doesn t stop their difference in viewpoints from interfering with their
relationship. It is shown clearly in the novel that Parviz isn t very interested in religion which ends up
preventing him from really interacting with The mendelson s in the way they would like to. This is
shown here when they ask Parviz to join them in celebrating a Jewish holiday, He tells himself that no
matter how lonely he gets, he will not go so far as to persecute himself by sitting at their table,
celebrating a day that to him is no different than any other day (Sofer, 42). Parviz shows many signs of
loneliness throughout the book just like in this part but the fact he doesn t realize is that he is the cause
of all his loneliness. If he had overlooked the fact it wasn t his religion and bonded with the family
anyway he would not be lonely. Not only does he almost force himself to be lonely he also feels that

Effects Of Divorce On Children And Divorce
In today s world, most people accept divorce or separation as a way of life. Parents are unaware or do
not understand the damage it can have on their children. However, in some instances, it is better to get
out of an abusive relationship because that can be as toxic as divorce. On average, 50% of children
who are born with married parents, will experience divorce before the age of 18 (Children and
Divorce Baucom, 2010 2017). Along with divorce statistics, 40% of children in America are raised
without a father being present (Children and Divorce Baucom, 2010 2017). Children who are raised in
broken homes are more likely to have health related problems, behavioral issues, and physical and
emotional damage (Children and Divorce Baucom, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If your child has had a routine that they are content in, changing the routine may lead to some of the
issues that are mentioned by Ferber. They may refuse to eat or have a loss of interest in certain
activities and that is their actions in rebelling to the situation. Sometimes they may react in ways to get
their parents attention because they may feel like they have been forgotten in the middle of all of the
chaos. In such instances, the child can benefit from seeing a licensed counselor to get professional
help with these negative behaviors (Redmond, Ferber, Love To Know, 2017). Through experience and
education, Donna Ferber thinks that children can benefit from a divorce or separation under certain
circumstances. However, through psychological evaluations, it has been found that children
experience behavioral issues when a divorce or separation occurs.
All children may experience behavioral issues at certain ages throughout their lives. Terrible two s,
terrible three s, meltdowns of young children, and outbursts of teenagers are all very common. Adding
stress and bad environments can increase these bad behaviors that are shown by children. Depending
on their age, the behaviors may be different from one child to another. A child at age 12 who are
experiencing parents divorce at age six is different

A Study On Xyzprinting Da Vinci 1.0 3d Printer Essay
XYZprinting Da Vinci 1.0 3D Printer Review (Keyword: cheap 3d printer)
If you are new to the 3D printer space and are looking at buying your first cheap 3D printer, the XYZ
Printing Da Vinci 1.0 3D printer would be an excellent choice. With its plug and play capabilities
thanks to its factory calibrated settings, getting the printer up and running is easy and requires minimal
knowledge in 3D printer installation. Considering it is usually categorized as a cheap printer, the print
quality is fairly good. A spacious print area and user friendly LCD screen are an added bonus.
How the printer works and its features
At its core, the XYZ printer is not too different from other 3D printers. The quality of output will
depend on the resolution specified as well as the printing speed. Speed settings can be adjusted to
anywhere between 0.1 millimeters and 0.4 millimeters per second. The maximum printer output is 8 x
8 x 8 inches which is somewhat of an anticlimax given the fairly large size of its print platform.
The cheap 3D printer is encased and print outputs are accessible from the device s front door. This not
only makes it easier to keep the printer clean but also reduces the likelihood of operator injury. You
also don t need to worry too much for instance about little children s hands getting trapped or seared
by the printer s internal components. The printer casing also minimizes the noise pollution during
operation. Another seemingly minor but quite important safety feature is

Characteristics Of Family Relationships
A famous poet Joseph Brodsky once said, Cherish your human connections: your relationships with
friends and family. I am Milagro Falcon my sisters opposite, my mothers follower, and my friends
deepest supporter. A relationship can constitute many things not just a romantic relationship. As a
young adult I still have not had a romantic relationship with someone yet that does not mean I do not
have other relationships. I do have a certain relationship with my family and friends thus my
relationship personality and relationship personality traits differ. There are various theories and terms
that can explain the characteristics of a relationship. An example would be friendship love which is
love based on common concerns and interests, companionship, and respect for the partner s
personality and character. As a young adult social learning theory has shaped my mom s views into
my own leading to sibling rivalry bringing more flavor to the family, also my relationship with my
friends has spurred as altruistic love.
What is social learning theory and how has it shaped my relationships? Social learning theory as
described in the book Intimate Relationships, Marriages, and Families by Nick Stinnett states it is a
theory that suggests behaving in relationships by modeling their parents behaviors and attitudes. To
me it means the way a person s parents acted in a relationship thus the child mirrors in later
relationships. My mother has taught me the basics like do not eat my buggers and eat with my mouth
closed everything parents basically teach a child. Nevertheless, the core values I learned from her
relationship with my father is to be independent, and communication is key. I did not have a male
figure in my life till I was six years old. At that age I started to see what a family is like and the
foundation of one. I quickly saw the difference from when it was just my mother and I. Before seeing
my mom in a relationship, I had already seen the sense of independence and it just moved along in the
relationship. My mother did not go to school, but she never depended on a man. Even when she was
with my step dad she was still independent making her money and doing her owns things while still
being in a

Implementation Of Additive Manufacturing At The...
You pack everything that you think you need for deployment. You conduct your demand analysis that
leads you to believe that what you packed is just what you need. Every deployment you had been on
before confirms that those are the assets that will lead you to mission success. However, this
deployment is different and just about everything you brought is not required and to source it from
else where will take too long. In the near future the most viable solution will be to print it. As 3D
printing now formally known as Additive Manufacturing (AM) evolves, the possibility of have
everything you need at your fingertips will have a profound impact on your operational readiness.
Implementation of additive manufacturing at the Intermediate level (I Level) of a Marine Aviation
Logistics Squadron, will drastically reduce the acquisition and production lead times associated with
low demand items, items that are impacted with obsolescence, and drastically reduce cost and
footprint of conventional logistic models. One advantage of AM is dramatically reducing acquisition
and production lead time associated with low demand items. Currently, Defense Logistics Agency s
(DLA) demand forecasting is predicated on either previous demand history or flight hours which will
determine how much to buy and how much to stock. This formula is great for the high demand and
major end items as they are more predictable with continuous monitoring for any changes in pattern.

30,000 tons (from 95,000 tons to 125,000 tons), the amount of emission decreased of 42% in
comparison to 2004. In spite of accelerating rates of sales growth in Diabetes care over 10 years, Novo
Nordisk could imitate the environmental issue and achieve its main objective for reducing the amount
of carbon emission about 10%. In 2012, it was expected that energy consumption stood at 6% in 2013.
After being analyzed, it can be seen that there was a 6% rise in energy consumption, which increased
from 2,433 gigajoules in 2012 to 2,572 gigajoules in 2013.
Assessing the performance of Novo Nordisk in 2013 and 2014, net sales increased slightly by 6% but
the amount of carbon emission dropped by 4% from 125,000 tons to 120,000 tons because of reducing
system power consumption and having changed the filling plant which become more environmentally
friendly methods. It is clear to say that both carbon emission and energy efficiency met its common
target which was slightly better than in 2013.

Martin Luther Reformer As A Reformer
2. Martin Luther is without a doubt the most influential figure during the Reformation. He was born in
Eisleben Germany where his father, Hans, was a smelter master. Hans s occupation allowed Martin to
obtain an education, which very few were able to achieve during this time in history. In school Luther
was able to learn Latin while continuing his education. While in school, a teacher noticed his talents
and introduced Luther to Latin classics and history. This had a lasting impression on Luther and would
be the foundation to what would lead to his later works in life. Luther s father wanted his son to
become a lawyer to improve their family status, therefore later Luther attended the University of
Erfurt. While attending the University of Erfurt, Luther was presented with the idea of humanism,
which was recovering the ideas from ancient sources. This idea of humanism was the central point for
Luther s works during the Reformation. Luther s first true steps to becoming a reformer was following
an incident returning to Erfurt, when he had an epiphany and decide then and there to become a monk.
Within the monastery Luther attempted to be perfect to receive God s grace. After becoming a
professor in Wittenberg, he visited Rome and it was here where Luther had discovered the corruption
of the papacy. Luther discovered from his work in scripture that the Catholic Church was restricting
their followers of faith from understanding the true meaning of the scriptures. However, the

Sustainability Reporting Of The United States
Abstract
Sustainability reporting in the United States is still a work in progress. While more countries around
the world are requiring companies to report the effects of their business activities as part of their
annual report, this practice is still voluntary in the US. Even though sustainability reporting is not
required, companies generally disclose sustainable information on their websites or through social
media. Being social responsible builds a certain type of bond that brings internal and external
stakeholders together.
Many companies in the US have taken action and developed their corporate governance model that
will meet their needs as well as the needs of the people around them, thus creating a better
environment for shareholders and stakeholders. Currently, most companies that issue sustainability
reporting follow the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards guidelines. The GRI standards are
designed to achieve transparency, and it has become the most common set of standards used amongst
organizations for sustainability reporting.
This research paper was written with the purpose of providing some answers as to why sustainability
reporting in the United States should be mandated by regulators. The paper briefly describes the GRI
standards and guidelines, the benefits of sustainability reporting, some relative advantages limitations
in adopting sustainability reporting, as well as provides a few examples of companies that have
successfully adopted

Every year 225,000 people rely on food bank due to financial instability. Growing up in a food desert
and demographically low income community, food bank is really the only way for some people in the
community to get food. Every saturday, at the break of dawn grannies, low income, and new
immigrants all line up waiting for the 7 o clock door opening at the church. This church is one of the
253 food pantries in the city. When the doors open, they will be ushered in and I signed them in and

Union University Fundamentalism
Union University could easily be misconstrued as having a fundamentalist identity. Culturally, Union
shares traits with fundamentalist institutions, such as strict curfew rules, ban on the use of alcoholic
beverages both off and on campus, as well as limits on public displays of affection. Union also has a
policy against dancing at campus sponsored events in Section V under community values in the
campus life handbook. According to the same handbook, Union University establishes rules and
barriers to encourage and strengthen its community of believers so that they may become leaders of
the Christian community within the university and beyond. Essentially, Union s rules and guidelines
are what construct the Union Bubble. However, the bubble ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The militant philosophy originated from the rising modernity in northern Baptist and Presbyterian
congregations, a growing fear of evolution being taught in schools, and the Scopes trial results. Fear of
these movements as well as the apocalyptic scenarios concocted after World War I, and the rise of
communism meant the second coming of Christ and the tribulation were right around the corner. In the
growing world of uncertainty, the fundamentalist movement sprung up out of a necessity for the
defense of faith. Fundamentalists originated from the fear of the unknown and speculation of what
could be. Perhaps one of the greatest ties between early fundamentalism and Union University stem
from fundamentalism s roots. At the beginning Northern Baptists and Presbyterians battled with
Southern conservative Baptists. In 1919, fundamentalists gathered to discuss what to do with the rise
of modernity in congregations and the danger of evolution in schools. Another rift among
fundamentalists was also occurring in the Northern Baptist Convention, led by the liberal Baptist
Harry Fosdick, who in opposition to the rise of fundamentalism in Southern congregations, wrote
Shall the Fundamentalists Win? Perhaps the struggle between fundamentalists and modernists best
description comes from Princeton s J. Gresham Machen who argued, Modernist compromises had so
changed the basic Christian faith that it was no longer recognizable as the same religion held by
orthodox believers through the previous nineteen centuries. So much of the fundamentalist movement
originates from fear, and the possibility that the identity of the Christian faith may become lost in a
slippery slope due to the rise of modernist

Neighbour Rosicky And A Rose For Emily
In the two short stories, A Rose for Emily and Neighbor Rosicky , the authors portray a women s role
in family and society similarly. Faulkner and Cather both show the day to day lives of women as the
cook, cleaner, and manager of their household. In society, women take on a gender role that dictates
the kind of behaviors that are considered normal. Faulkner and Cather also assert that it is not normal
for a woman to work outside of the home. In fact, working outside the home is frowned upon as a
form of aberrant behavior. A woman is to be the house manager, a wife and mother, and to pass down
her knowledge to the youth.
In each of the stories it states that woman are in charge of keeping the house in order. When Emily
vanished from her house, leaving only her male servant in charge, a putrid smell had started to
develop. The women of the town gossiped and whispered, Just as if a man any man could keep a
kitchen properly (Rose, 3). The women believed that only females were qualified to maintain and keep
the house clean. John s mother, Mary, was known for her exquisite cooking. As described in the
passage, Mary took out of the oven a pan of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the short story A Rose for Emily it reads, None of the young men were quite good enough for Miss
Emily and such. We had long thought of them as a tableau (Rose, 4). Many of the young men believed
that Emily was far too good to marry, so she never did marry anyone; unfortunately, this was frowned
upon. Furthermore, the short story Neighbor Rosicky is a bit more enlightening. We are taught that
women are responsible for the development and outcome of their kids. In the short story Neighbor
Rosicky it quotes, Dat widder woman bring her daughters up very nice (Rosicky, 2). Notice that it is
not the father they credit, it is the mother. Both short stories suggest that women s role in society is to

Old Yeller
Abstract
When people think of the book or the movie, Old Yeller, it is often thought of as a story about the
bond between a boy and his dog, a common theme in many TV shows and books. However, Old
Yeller, as it turns out, proves to be much more than that; it is a true coming of age story. At 14 years
old, Travis Coates lives with his mother and little brother, Arliss, in the hill country of Texas during
the 1860s when his father must leave home to work on a cattle drive. He leaves Travis to act a man s
part and take care of the family in his absence. While working in a cornfield one day, Travis come
across Old Yeller and tries to drive him away, but his younger brother, Arliss likes Old Yeller and

Afterall, he had just lost his dog, Bell, to a rattlesnake bite, and the attachment to both Bell and his
father cannot be replaced so soon. With his father gone away for several months and Bell dead at the
fangs of a rattlesnake, Travis has some major adjustments to make in terms of his internal model of
self. He needs to take on the rolf of a man. He has many conflicting roles to deal with disciplinarian to
his younger brother, Arliss, only to get scolded by his mother for doing so which leaves him feeling
there is no winning because of the conflict caused by assuming so many roles boy, playmate, man, and
protector. These conflicts frustrate Travis who thought it was not fair and thinks to himself, how could
I be the man of the family if nobody paid any attention to what I thought or said...I sulked and felt
sorry for myself all the time...[and] the more I thought of it the angrier I at got at that big yeller dog.
(Gibson 1956). Travis feels offended, too, that Lisbeth turns out to be a big help. She helps by getting
the water and gathering the corn, and has a good time laughing with Mama and Arliss. It hurts Travis
pride to see him so easily replaced by a girl. He consoles himself by remembering that he can hunt,
mark hogs and swing an axe, and she cannot (studymode 2014).

Ancient Greek Disobeying Authority
Challenging Authority
Current day civilizations and current day life have been influenced greatly by Ancient Greek culture.
Most importantly, the act of challenging authority has been substantially impacted by the ancient
justice systems, which authorizes the breaking of rules and makes it pardonable and respectable. Many
of these acts of disobeying authority are demonstrated, in both Ancient Greek times and current times,
as Gods break rules based off their wants or based off of their desire to help others, as many rulers use
their power to violate rules in order to better their people, and as many every day individuals commit
crimes and are forgiven for them. It is desired and acceptable, according to Ancient Greek beliefs and
values, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Battle of Marathon in Ancient Greek times that resulted from the Persians challenging the
boundaries and laws put in place by Persian and Greek rulers, not only did Greek undergo conflicts
with the Persians, but issues were also present regarding the actions of Greek rulers. Callimachus and
Miltiades, the two Greek commanders at the time chose to have their men fight in this war. This could
be viewed as wrong, due to the fact that these men were forced break moral laws by killing and also
had the chance of dying themselves; yet the decision to participate in war and send men to die and to
kill was considered acceptable because it would likely result in a better outcome for Greece. When the
day was over, the Greeks had won one of history s most famous victories. (Battle of Marathon: Greeks
Versus the Persians) The Grecians did win, proving that this war was the best choice for Greece,
which would continue the justification for the challenging of these rules. Many Grecians broke the
code of society that says it is not right to harm or kill others when they claimed to have killed about
6,400 Persians. (Battle of Marathon: Greeks Versus the Persians) Although this is an outrageous
amount of deaths, the war and the challenging of rules caused by decisions Callimachus and Miltiades
made to send their men to die and to challenge rules themselves by killing others was considered
acceptable because it lead to the best outcome. This idea has influenced society today due to the fact
that kings, presidents, or other rulers have the authority to break rules simply because they are in
control. Both the Grecians and current day individuals convey the message that it is acceptable for
those in charge to go against the rules of society. Civilians look to their rulers to make the right
decisions in order to

Geico s Modified Rhetorical Approach
Geico s Modified Rhetorical Approach Geico Insurance Company is known for using humorous and
absurd mascots as a main selling point in their advertisements. Mascots that Geico has used in the past
include the infamous Geico gecko, with the mysterious accent and the Geico caveman who seemed to
be a jack of all trades. Geico has recently taken a new approach to advertising their insurance. Authors
of Geico commercials have recently introduced their newest mascot, Mike McGlone, a well known
actor, to play the role of pompous reporter. Through the use of their new character, Geico is able to
able to reach their target audience of anyone that is uninsured by Geico. Geicos new technique of
advertising is based on a heavy use of the pathos appeal to play on the audience s emotions while
using lesser amounts of ethical and logical appeals. This new strategy has proven to be a very effective
method of marketing. The Geico commercial takes place in a dentist s office where a dentist is
performing a cleaning for a patient while watching television. When a Geico Commercial appears on
the TV, the dentist is seemed surprised to hear that, 15 minutes could save you 15 percent or more on
car insurance . The patient in the room responded as if the information was common knowledge and
that a majority of people would be aware of Geico s 15 minute ad. The patient comment acted as a
confirmation to validate Geico s mission statement. The educated dentist felt foolish in front of his

The Battle Of The Invasion Of Normandy
After Marshal Montgomery blockaded Rommel, whose fame was generally known as the Desert Fox
with the navy and the air force in the Strait of Sicily for more than 100 days, the Allies won the North
African Campaign on May 13, 1943. As the Allies freed for further action with the victories of about
250,000 German and Italian troops surrendered on the north coast of Africa, the British and the
American strategists were facing two options as their huge army quartered in the southern
Mediterranean (www.history.com). One of the option was put forward by the American chief,
suggesting that the Allies should transfer their forces north for the impending invasion of Europe from
the English Channel. Even though this suggestion was disapproved by the English chief who held the
opinion that the Allies should strike the Europe from the southern Italy, this strategy was later known
as the Invasion of Normandy that completely helped the Allies win the WW II. The option that the
British chief favor for finally became the strategy of the Allies first step invasion in Europe because it
not only utilized the fighter cover from air bases on British Malta, 60 miles south of Sicily, but also
saved the Allies shipping to the English Channel as the American chief suggested that. The strategy of
pressing north into Italy was vividly described by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill as
invading the the soft underbelly of Europe (www.history.com). The underbelly here, however, referred

  • 2. Long Run Research Paper What are tax consequences and how can it affect you in the long run? It is said, taxes are the rice we pay for a civilized society (Debt.org). What different ways are there to avoid or at least minimize tax consequences? There are some ways to make paying taxes also beneficial. Capital Gains Taxes There are many different types of taxes out there that everyone has to pay at some point in their life. There is a tax on Income, for instance, capital gains taxes, estate taxes, and inheritance taxes. Next is property tax, the taxes you pay towards your real estate. Lastly taxes on goods and services, excise taxes and user fees. These are all important required taxes to live in the United States but what is each tax in depth? An overview ... This would come from a loss from investments, but not from the sale of personal property that can be used to offset capital gains. An example would be if a person has $50,000 in long term gains from selling one stock, but have $30,000 in long term losses from the sale of another, then that person could only be taxed on $20,000 worth of long term capital gains. (TurboTax) Although if capital losses are over the capital gains, then the person can use the loss to offset up to $3,000 of the other income. If there is more than $3,000 in capital losses, the excess can be carried forward to future years to offset income in those years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Issues In Social Work Many problems remain in the American society such as the increasing number of people living in poverty, the juvenile crime rate, unaffordable housing for the working middle class and poor people, backlash against illegal immigration, and the shortfall in social welfare programs (black). Social workers try to combat these problems, which are a result of society, economics, and development problems. Social work in the United States is a profession about promoting and offering social services through practicing with people, communities, and organizations; advocating with and for clients; and creating social work knowledge (Writing in social work). Social work in the United States utilized the direct practice with individuals, families, and communities. Social workers need to continue to advocate for social problems (Writing in social work). During poor law times, society aimed to exclude and discriminate against those who don t belong (red). This trend has continued through today, as the exclusion of people still exists. The legacy of workhouses and of the Poor Law remains today in the ideology that the family should be the main provider of care for those in need, poor people should be deterred from seeking help, and public assistance should be below the minimum wage (red). In the 19th century, Rescue organizations emerged to prevent child cruelty (red). These organizations were a voluntary effort with the task of investigating and bringing justice to child cruelty. • 4. Medea s Quest For The Golden Fleece Synopsis The play of Medea was written by Seneca around 50 CE. In Greek Myth Medea is the daughter of King Aeetes of Colchis, granddaughter of Helios and niece of Circe. She seeks revenge on her husband Jason after he abandons her in Corinth in order to marry Creon s daughter. Over ten years before the start of the play Medea had met Jason when she assisted him in his quest for the Golden Fleece using her powers to aid him in impossible tasks that her father had set in front of Jason as his price for obtaining the Golden Fleece. As assisting Jason meant that she was betraying both her family and her country she fled with Jason to Thessaly. Their peace did not last long and they were forced to flee back to Corinth where everything was fine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is set on getting revenge for the wrongs done against her right from the beginning of the play. The Medea in Seneca s play is no weak damsel or victim of fate, she is a strong and powerful woman, a force of nature, who will destroy anyone or anything that wrongs her, even killing her sons without hesitation or lament. She demands to be feared rather than pitied and does not hesitate to do what she feels she must in order to right the wrongs against her. The Chorus Seneca s chorus is objective and does not hesitate in condemning the actions they are witnessing. This is fine because Medea does not need their sympathy or permission, she is a woman who makes things happen and does not rely on the gods. Jason In my opinion Jason takes the feminine role in the play. He comes across as rather weak and helpless allowing the fates to dictate his course rather than fighting. He is also too willing to try to help Medea and to trust her, when she pretends to have a change of heart. Also the fact that at the end of the play he laments to the gods able why they allow such things to happen, rather than vowing to avenge his son s deaths, confirms to me that he has taken the feminine role in the play. ... • 5. Selecting a Locale for Global Outsourcing Selecting a Locale for Global Outsourcing Introduction: The process of globalization is changing the way that companies large and small must conduct business to survive. From external factors such as the international laws and widely varying domestic tax policies to internal changes to personnel or process, free trade policies are altering operational strategy, especially for small companies engaging in growth. One of the most determinant changes brought on by free trade and its gradual permeation of the developing world is the appeal of global outsourcing or off shoring for growing American businesses. Outsourcing is the practice by which companies will employ agencies external to the company, and increasingly external even to the primary country of operation, in order to attain specialty services at a fee per service basis. Also important to the discussion, the concept of off shoring will find a company expanding into a new international location by establishing a satellite base of operations within. Each strategy carries its own unique set of challenges and advantages. Part of our task as a growing company verging on its first venture of internationalization is to determine what balance of these strategies might best serve our interests. Factors in a Global Context: There are many global factors to consider that have been emergent with the spread of globalization. For a firm seeking an ideal context for establishing a new manufacturing center, cost is of course a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Asperger Diagnostic Scale-Revised (RAADS-R) The Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale Revised(RAADS R) Psy/320 Research Methods and Statistics November 8,2016 Dr. Amy Carrison Abstract Even as adults, sometimes we tend to question whether or not there is something more to us. In years past, and often still is, the subject of autism was unknown, and often misunderstood. Many times autistic tendencies are just dismissed as either bad behaviors or defiance. Many times the individual also has an underlying condition such as attention deficit disorder. This article sheds some light on that subject. However, one needs to remember that the article in question, just as the RAADS R is not a way to diagnose autism spectrum disorder. The person who is participating in the study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The researchers at these centers have to agree on the diagnosis of each of the participants. However, since 2013, Asperger s Syndrome is no longer considered a standalone diagnosis. ( Http://www.parents.com/health/autism/what Happened To Aspergers/ , 2014). Because Asperger s Syndrome is now on the autism spectrum, it is now easier to agree on how to treat the person who has to live with the disorder. Getting back to the RAADS R itself, the questions on the test are symptom based, (64) and non symptom based (16). They are divided into four subscales as follows, social relatedness (thirty nine), circumscribed interests (fourteen questions), language (seven), and sensory motor (twenty). The main reason for the screening is to identify whether or not the participant was a good candidate for further diagnosis of ASD. During the initial screening, the participants were given the RAADS R by clinicians. For proper diagnosis the questions were clarified so that they were properly entered on a Likert scale. Sex did not affect whether or not a person could have autism/Asperger s Disorder. However, it does play a part. Age does not appear to affect the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing Two Statuette Running Head: A Compare and Contrast of Two Statuettes A Compare and Contrast of Two Statuettes Mary Karr ART 205 – Art Appreciation November 24, 2007 A Compare and Contrast of Two Statuettes I have chosen as the subject of my essay to contrast and compare two female statuettes from ancient cultures. The first is an ancient Egyptian statuette named The Offering Bearer which was discovered about 1920 in the tomb of Meketre in Thebes and appears to have been made around 1985 B.C.E. by an unknown. (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2007). The second is an unnamed figurine commonly referred to as Statuette of A Standing Woman. The Statuette of A Standing Woman and the other Tanagra figurines, however, marked a new trend in Greek art of examining and representing common women in every day pursuits. Marking women as worthy of notice just for existing rather then needing special status to be recognized. (Department of Greek and Roman Art, 2007). The culture of Egypt at the time The Offering Bearer was made seems to be one that reserved art for chronicling and celebrating fantastic or sacred occurrences, whereas Greek art at the time of the Tanagra figurines had learned to find artistic potential in every day life. Egyptian life was still heavily tied to absolute rule of pharaohs and worship of multiple gods as a defining force in everyday life. Materials and tools would have been scarce and most art reserved for the ruling or wealthy classes. Greece however, was an evolving culture. Greece had a history of embracing new ideas in social, scholarly, and artistic endeavors. In conclusion both sculptures depict a common thread in the society which created them. One a common occurrence where the act being portrayed elevates the female subject to a more important position then she would otherwise have enjoyed the other the beauty of women in common life. The Warning Signs and Risk Factors of Teen Depression People constantly overlook the severity of depression, more importantly, major teen depression, which presents a legitimate obstacle in society. Teen depression s intensity results from society s general lack of acknowledgement of the rising affair. The surprisingly low amount of people aware of teen depression creates a serious matter in today s world. Within the past year, 15.8% of teens contemplated the option of suicide, due to their major depression going unnoticed or untreated for (Vidourek). Most of the causes and signs of depression lie hidden within the individual since majorities of people experience them without any real issue arising. Antidepressants intend to regulate emotions and decrease depressing thoughts, but they have adverse side effects such as anxiousness, restlessness, and even a possible increase in suicidal thoughts (Teen Depression: When Should You Worry?). Antidepressants should be utilized as part of a larger medical plan, such as combining them with counseling and other treatment options (Dumke). A combination of psychotherapy [a cognitive behavioral therapy] and antidepressants seems to work the best and may keep depression from recurring concerning teens with depression (Adolescents and Clinical Depression). Unfortunately, the economic impact of the treatments make it harder for families to provide help for their depressed teenagers. The costs include outpatient care, medication, hospitalization, and residential treatment (Economic Impact of Depression). Few people acquire consistent medical treatment as a depressed individual, resulting in less chances of helping teens with major depression. Since money expresses a barrier between treatment and no help at all, some schools even provide opportunities and programs that address the suicide and depression problem to youth in an attempt to help them (Strunk). Overcoming teen depression becomes realistic once society acknowledges the signs, warnings, causes, and treatment options, and finding ways to make ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Late sequelaeof periodontal diseases are the loss of alveolar bone,,mobile teeth leading to a demolished periodontium. Therefore, earlier detection and treatment leads to improved outcomes for patients.2 The main transgressors in Periodontal diseases are gram negative bacteria that elicit a host response, which cause an aftermath of osseous and soft tissue destruction. When introduced in book 1 of Virgil s tale Aeneid, told to Aeneas by his mother Venus (disguised as a huntress), Dido is revealed as a dignified queen, beautiful, wealthy and respected by the people of Carthage. At the same time, she is resolute in her determination not to marry again. As told by Venus, Her husband was Sychaeus, of all Phoenicians richest in land, and greatly loved by her, (Book I, lines 468 469). Although her husband was the richest of all Tyre, her brother Pygmalion, King of Tyre, was obsessed with greed and his money, he decides to kill him and manages to keep this act from Dido till she had a dream with her husband in it. He urged her then to make haste and take flight, leaving her fatherland, and to assist the journey revealed a buried treasure of all time, unknown to any, a weight of gold and silver (Lines 487 490). Dido manages to preserve the memory of her dead husband, Sychaeus, whose murder causes her to flee her home city of Tyre. Fortunately, she maintains her focus on her responsibilities. She gathers people from Tyre and sails to a land with stone walls going higher and the citadel of Carthage, the new town (Lines 500 501), at which the city begins its construction and she becomes the queen. • 13. Parviz Amin Quotes Imagine that one day you had to leave behind everything you ve ever know. You had to leave your family and your country because it was slowly falling apart and you had no idea if you would ever get to see it again. How would you react? In the novel Septembers of Shiraz this is exactly the situation Parviz Amin is dealing with. His homeland, the country of Iran has been overtaken by a group called the Revolutionary guards. This group hates anyone and everyone who supported or was related to the Shah which was the previous ruler of the country. It just so happens Parviz s father meets that description and eventually is arrested by the same group for being suspected of being a zionist spy. Parviz has to deal with all of this all the way on the opposite side of the globe in New York City along with his own issues of just starting out his college life. His negative attitude about this whole situation definitely isn t helping either. Parviz s pessimistic attitude and lack of beliefs causes a strongly negative affect on his situation and his daily life. Parviz Amin is a young adult starting college in New York City which is almost on the opposite side of the world from his homeland of Iran. He is alone and staying with a strict Jewish family called the Mendelsons who are very kind and understanding towards him yet this doesn t stop their difference in viewpoints from interfering with their relationship. It is shown clearly in the novel that Parviz isn t very interested in religion which ends up preventing him from really interacting with The mendelson s in the way they would like to. Parents are unaware or do not understand the damage it can have on their children. However, in some instances, it is better to get out of an abusive relationship because that can be as toxic as divorce. On average, 50% of children who are born with married parents, will experience divorce before the age of 18 (Children and Divorce Baucom, 2010 2017). Along with divorce statistics, 40% of children in America are raised without a father being present (Children and Divorce Baucom, 2010 2017). With its plug and play capabilities thanks to its factory calibrated settings, getting the printer up and running is easy and requires minimal knowledge in 3D printer installation. Considering it is usually categorized as a cheap printer, the print quality is fairly good. A spacious print area and user friendly LCD screen are an added bonus. How the printer works and its features At its core, the XYZ printer is not too different from other 3D printers. The quality of output will depend on the resolution specified as well as the printing speed. Speed settings can be adjusted to anywhere between 0.1 millimeters and 0.4 millimeters per second. The maximum printer output is 8 x 8 x 8 inches which is somewhat of an anticlimax given the fairly large size of its print platform. The cheap 3D printer is encased and print outputs are accessible from the device s front door. This not only makes it easier to keep the printer clean but also reduces the likelihood of operator injury. You also don t need to worry too much for instance about little children s hands getting trapped or seared by the printer s internal components. The printer casing also minimizes the noise pollution during operation. Another seemingly minor but quite important safety feature is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I am Milagro Falcon my sisters opposite, my mothers follower, and my friends deepest supporter. A relationship can constitute many things not just a romantic relationship. As a young adult I still have not had a romantic relationship with someone yet that does not mean I do not have other relationships. I do have a certain relationship with my family and friends thus my relationship personality and relationship personality traits differ. There are various theories and terms that can explain the characteristics of a relationship. An example would be friendship love which is love based on common concerns and interests, companionship, and respect for the partner s personality and character. As a young adult social learning theory has shaped my mom s views into my own leading to sibling rivalry bringing more flavor to the family, also my relationship with my friends has spurred as altruistic love. What is social learning theory and how has it shaped my relationships? Social learning theory as described in the book Intimate Relationships, Marriages, and Families by Nick Stinnett states it is a theory that suggests behaving in relationships by modeling their parents behaviors and attitudes. To me it means the way a person s parents acted in a relationship thus the child mirrors in later relationships. Nevertheless, the core values I learned from her relationship with my father is to be independent, and communication is key. I did not have a male figure in my life till I was six years old. At that age I started to see what a family is like and the foundation of one. I quickly saw the difference from when it was just my mother and I. Before seeing my mom in a relationship, I had already seen the sense of independence and it just moved along in the relationship. My mother did not go to school, but she never depended on a man. Every deployment you had been on before confirms that those are the assets that will lead you to mission success. However, this deployment is different and just about everything you brought is not required and to source it from else where will take too long. In the near future the most viable solution will be to print it. As 3D printing now formally known as Additive Manufacturing (AM) evolves, the possibility of have everything you need at your fingertips will have a profound impact on your operational readiness. Implementation of additive manufacturing at the Intermediate level (I Level) of a Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron, will drastically reduce the acquisition and production lead times associated with low demand items, items that are impacted with obsolescence, and drastically reduce cost and footprint of conventional logistic models. One advantage of AM is dramatically reducing acquisition and production lead time associated with low demand items. Currently, Defense Logistics Agency s (DLA) demand forecasting is predicated on either previous demand history or flight hours which will determine how much to buy and how much to stock. This formula is great for the high demand and major end items as they are more predictable with continuous monitoring for any changes in pattern. Utilizing this forecasting ... • 25. Martin Luther Reformer As A Reformer 2. Martin Luther is without a doubt the most influential figure during the Reformation. He was born in Eisleben Germany where his father, Hans, was a smelter master. Hans s occupation allowed Martin to obtain an education, which very few were able to achieve during this time in history. In school Luther was able to learn Latin while continuing his education. While in school, a teacher noticed his talents and introduced Luther to Latin classics and history. This had a lasting impression on Luther and would be the foundation to what would lead to his later works in life. Luther s father wanted his son to become a lawyer to improve their family status, therefore later Luther attended the University of Erfurt. While attending the University of Erfurt, Luther was presented with the idea of humanism, which was recovering the ideas from ancient sources. This idea of humanism was the central point for Luther s works during the Reformation. Luther s first true steps to becoming a reformer was following an incident returning to Erfurt, when he had an epiphany and decide then and there to become a monk. Within the monastery Luther attempted to be perfect to receive God s grace. After becoming a professor in Wittenberg, he visited Rome and it was here where Luther had discovered the corruption of the papacy.
