Penelope In The Penelopiad
Atwood s take on the character of Penelope in The Penelopiad first describes her as an average
and modest woman with a single defining trait of intelligence, whereas Odysseus is introduced
to the story as a cheat and a thief. In due time, Odysseus leaves to fight in the war against Troy,
and then starts his ten year voyage back to Ithaca. However, in the twenty years he was gone,
Penelope has learned to independently manage the land, and use her wits to trick the Suitors and
learn of their plans. When Odysseus finally returns home, Penelope knows to not reveal his true
identity and doesn t tell him of her deceptive ways. The two characters have flipped traits in this
way, as now Penelope is the master of tricks and Odysseus follows her lead.

Different Types Of Therapy For Me
Just by walking into the occupational therapy clinic, I know I am changing lives. When I can
make children happy by simply offering a toy or a pleasant smile, while inside they may be
struggling, I know I chose the right career to pursue. Therapy of all types is rewarding. Nothing
compares to the feeling you get when you see someone improving and you know you had a hand in
that improvement. But occupational therapytranscends all other types of therapyfor me because it
involves helping people on a more emotional and psychological level. Being able to volunteer
and observe occupational therapists at work showed me children who were often not able to
complete daily tasks. Seeing the children struggle with their fears and issues was extremely
difficult, but watching them slowly improve and gain confidence week after week was beyond
rewarding. They are not only able to find the strength to overcome their problems with each
session, they are able to adapt a more normal life, which is something I believe everyone should
have a chance at. Choosing OT was not a quick or easy decision for me. My first job was
teaching swimming lessons to kids at a local fitness facility and I knew after working there for
several years that I wanted to work with children in some way. My degree in psychology steered
me toward the work of Child Life Specialists, who would comfort and help in patient children and
their families at hospitals. Wanting to find out more about the career, I signed up for a

Herod The Great Influence
During the time period leading up to and following the birth of Jesus, Herod the Great was the
ruler in Judea. An Edomite by birth whose family had converted to Judaism, Herod was
appointed as King by Augustus Caesar. Herod the Great was born in 73 BC and reigned from 37
BC to 4 BC. The kingdom under Herod was very oppressed. He ruled as a tyrant, imposing
dreadful and demoralizing taxes on his people, and severely punishing those who could not pay.
Perhaps one of the most notable examples of his ruthlessness, was the murder of his own wife and
sons whom he feared where plotting against him. During his reign, he successfully undertook many
building projects, the most well known of which is probably the development of the Port of

Texas Tax Rebates
There is no doubt that Texas s state government is one of the most conservative in the nation on
both an economic and social level. As a governing body Texas has fought to deregulate itself on the
bases that a weak government translates to strong personal liberties. The political culture of the
state is apparent to all who live there. However, in recent history Texashas proven to be a solid
competitor when offering tax rebates to filmmakers and videogame creators who produce their
content in the state. These rebates refund some of the production costs and are widely considered to
be beneficial to employment within the state s entertainment and tourism industry (Weed). Sadly, in
2015 Texas lawmakers cut the previously impressive budget for... Show more content on

The argument comes from the fiscally conservative mindset, arguing that using taxpayer money for
non necessities, like film is wasteful. However, this view overlooks that the state s rebate
program exists as an investment that the state will eventually make profit on in the form of
economic growth through employment. The legislation providing such rebates likely would
never have existed in the first place if it were not economically beneficial to the state.
Additionally, providing rebates is more likely to attract production of the benefit films that have
tighter budgets and have trouble breaking even, rather than the stereotypical big budget films,
meaning that rebates could mean the difference of a production company moving forward with
riskier films or not. The Hollywood welfare argument is a politically expedient one because of
the way Hollywood is viewed politically in present day American culture. Many on America s
rightwing view Hollywood as a big elitist organization with a liberal political agenda. Rhetoric like
Hollywood welfare truly is a representation of the divisive nature of modern times. Schimmel writes
in an essay regarding rhetoric that language affects our perception and understanding of social and
political realities, irrespective of how accurately it reflects them. Conservative state politicians have
capitalized on the preconditioned distrust conservatives have toward Hollywood paired with the
negative connotations that the political right has associated with welfare has led to film tax
incentives taking major blows, especially in predominantly conservative

The Differences Between Parliamentary Presidential System
Differences between Parliamentary system and Presidential system [Judiciary]
In relating both systems, parliamentary and presidential systems are currently using different
judiciary system to enforce law in society. Before entering judiciary segment, it is essential to
understand the definition of judiciary where it can be noted that:
...Judiciary is commonly considered the third branch of government. It stabilizes the political
system by solving disputes involving the country s law... (Barrington, 2010, p. 280)
...It is emphatically the province and duty of the judicial department to say what the law is... John
Marshall cited in (Woll, 1992, p. 251)
From this definition above, the judiciary simply implies the body or branch that play ... Show more

Administration of law in United Kingdom is different with United States of America, this can
shown in:
...The United Kingdom does not have a single body of law applicable throughout the kingdom.
Scotland has it is own distinctive system and courts, and in Northern Ireland certain spheres of law
differ in substance from those operating in England and Wales.
The main civil courts in England and Wales are:
Magistrates Courts
County Courts for small cases and
The High Court, which is divided into
The Chancery Division,
The Family Division, and
The Queen s Bench Division (including the maritime and commercial courts), for the more
important cases...
(The United Kingdom Judicial System)
But in United States of America the courts that operating are:
...Supreme Courts consisted of six justices, who rode the circuit as judges of the Courts of
Appeals. The courts was reduced to five members at one time and expended to ten at another. Since
1869, The Supreme Courts has consistently had nine members. And since 1891, the justices have
no had to serve on courts of appeal, although each justice has some responsibilities with at least one
appeals court... (Woll, 1992, p. 268)
The differences are can be shown when comparing the administration on judiciary branch. In United
States of America the judiciary branches are administered by congress because:

The Ultimate Entrepreneur Essay example
The Ultimate Entrepreneur
In 2002 it was reported that George W. Bush told the then prime minister Tony Blair that The
problem with the French is that they don t have a word for entrepreneur . Putting it kindly, this was
a mistake. Translated from French, an entrepreneur is someone who undertakes something. Of
course it carries a much wider meaning than that in the modern English definition. An entrepreneur
is someone who takes an idea and builds it into something great and successful. Someone with
vision, drive and creativity, and the will to make it happen, often against difficult odds. Or
certainly that s the general perception. Does this person have to be a genius? Above average
intelligence? What defines an entrepreneur really? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an entrepreneur you re in the uncertainty business, so you need a high tolerance for risk. You
need to be willing to fail several times if necessary in order to get it right in the end, and you
need to be flexible in your thinking. Your idea may need to change as your journey unfolds, and
you need to be open enough to accept and work with that change. Uncertainty is a scary place, so
you will need to deal with the fear associated with that. Fear of not knowing where next month s
pay cheque is coming from, fear of failure. You must become accustomed to insecurity as a life
choice. And you ll need the ability to think creatively so you can change perspective to solve all
those inevitable problems that come up.
So far then we have vision, passion, persistence, high risk tolerance, flexible and creative thinking.
Throw in resilience for good measure. Not many people have these qualities up front, or maybe
more importantly, are willing to adopt them. It is argued that our education system does nothing to
promote entrepreneurship either. With its emphasis on conformity and thinking inside the box , it
arguably stifles creativity. It is interesting to note that people like Richard Branson, Alan Sugar and
Steve Jobs didn t finish higher education, and Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard. I m not saying

Forgiveness have important medicinal effect on health. Researchers and study have shown that
people who forgive have less chances of health issues like heart attack and brain tumor. People
who hold tolerance views of human nature and don t seem to nurse grieveness unduly tend to

who cannot or do not forgive and tells them how harmful holding grudges are to their health. She

In February, 1899, Aguinaldo led a new revolt, the Philippine American War. The U.S. captured
of Aguinaldo on March 23, 1901 and in 1902, President Theodore Roosevelt proclaimed a full
and complete pardon and amnesty to all people in the Philippine archipelago who had participated
in the conflict, effectively ending the war. After World War II, Manuel Roxas became the first
president of the Republic of the Philippines when independence was granted, as scheduled, on July
4, 1946 from the United States. As time went along, the Philippines had more presidents after
Roxas, including Elpidio Quirino, Ramon Magsaysay, Carlos P. GarcГa, and Diosdado Macapagal,
all who served 4 year terms. Then, the president after Macapagal, Ferdinand E. Marcos, served as
president from 1965 to 1986. During this time, government corruption and civil disorder
increased. After a series of fraud attempts in the 1986 elections, Marcos lost his support and
Corazon Aquino became president. In 1992, Fidel Ramos succeeded Aquino and Joseph Marcelo
Estrada was elected as president in 1998. In November, 2000, Estrada was impeached by the
House of Representatives and in 2001 the Supreme Court stripped him of his power and Gloria
Macapagal Arroyo was sworn in as Estrada s successor. On June 30, 2010, Benigno Aquino III

The Golden Age Of Medieval Philosophy
Medieval philosophy is the philosophy which formed during the medieval time period after the fall
of the Roman Empire. This time period was the rise of independent philosophy and the linkage
between their understandings with the theories of past philosophers. The history of medieval
philosophy is divided into two periods; the period of the Christian philosophy, which included St.
Thomas Aquinas, St. Augustine, and Marsilius of Padua. The next period of the medieval
philosophy known as the golden age of Arabic phosphors, this age of philosophers included Al
Farabi, Ibn Tufayl, and Moses Maimonides. both political periods were infused with great
ideological views.

He argues that the leading authority of the state should be the political government and the church
must step down and allow the state to fulfill its responsibilities. St. Augustine shared similar
beliefs to Aquinas. He beloved that man is evil, so there is a need for political authority. His idea
was that the people within the state would act virtuously and by doing this, they would follow the
laws set by man.
The medieval philosophers originated from the middle east, yet most adopted Jewish beliefs.
Constitutors such as al farabi, ibn tufayl, and moss Maimonides produced some of the most
profound pieces in Arabic political history. During this time, the Islamic region strongly dismissed
the notions of Aristotle and Plato and focused solely on their religious teaching. But the Arabic
philosophers saw a connection between the two. yet, they found it necessary to incorporate the idea
of reason into their teachings. This caused conflict within their society because the citizens believed
that there was no need for reason, rather the only need was God and his teachings. Further, they
believed that the teachings of reason did not link to their religious values. Al Farabi infused his
work with the work of Aristotle and Plato such as; the survival of the soul and the punishment of
the afterlife. Ibn Tufayl philosophy pertaining to religion explains the harmony of joining reason

The Importance Of The NBA
The NBA is one of the most entertaining sports known to man. The NBA consists of a lot of
highlights, most of the highlights have nothing to do with actually playing basketball. The
NBA provides various organizations to help the less fortunate, they also do a lot of camps and
gatherings to make better players out of younger kids. Also, the NBA brings so many eye
catching aspects to the game, such as special uniforms for holidays, expensive tennis shoes and
amazing in games moves only the best of the best can master. But just like everyone else the
NBA isn t perfect, it s a game of favoritism and personal agendas. The NBA is getting bigger and

The NBA gives back to the community regularly. Not necessarily the NBA but the players in the
NBA. Oklahoma City, Thunder s point guard Russell Westbrook has his own charity called the

Convenience And Association When Talking With One Another
Convenience and association when talking with one another is one of many uses that names
provide. Names carry strong ethnics and religious connotations, and reveal an individual s
affiliation to a specific group. They are able to capture and reflect upon one s unique culture,
history, religion, and lineage. The sense of personal identity and uniqueness that a name gives us is
why names interest us and are deemed so important to us as individuals. Unfortunately those of us
who carry names that are hard to pronounce or are simply strange in the eyes of the western world,
feel inclined to accommodate to much more Eurocentric names. In spite of their importance, the
practice of white washing foreign names is dangerous. It affects all generations in a lineage from
the past, present, to the future. Therefore, names have been homogenized for the convenience of
the colonizer throughout history, can be seen in current social Chinese policies today, and
consequently creates a homogenized legacy of children wearing white masks for future generations.
Although many foreigners take part in this name change practice, this research paper will focus on
the Chinese American phenomena of name changes. Consequently, Chinese Americans are
becoming the new victims forced to wear white masks by their colonizers. It is necessary to
analyze this phenomenon to secure the integrity of all cultures. Proctor: Because it is my name!

Ah Are You Digging On My Grave Essay
Ah, Are You Digging on My Grave? by English poet Thomas Hardy was published on September
27, 1913. In this deliberative poem, Hardy uses a dialogue form to carry out the story of a
deceased woman who is wondering who the digger of her grave is and desiring that someone she
love is missing her. Finally, through a devastating disappointment it turns out that the diggerwas
only her dog burying its bone. Though out the poem, Thomas Hardy s uses a humorous tone to
depict the theme of No love or hate outlasts deaththat everyone eventually will be forgotten after
time; with personification, repetition, ironyand symbolism, Hardy effectively created a somber,
disappointed and negative view on human state.

As mentioned in the poem, My loved one? Planting rue? (l. 2) Rue has two meanings. It can be
the leaves of a plant with bitter, strongly scented smell or it can means regret and sorrow. It
symbolizes the bad relationship between the dead woman and her husband. As the other meaning,
regret and sorrow is what the woman thought her husband should be experiencing. When
someone dies, people usually put beautiful flowers beside the grave. However, she believes that
her husband will plant rue instead if he even came. Therefore, readers can see the worse
relationship between them. Further more, in the last stanza of this poem it states, to bury a bone
(l. 32), this statement also has a deeper meaning than what it means literally, it also symbolizes the
death of the woman. It implies that how people she knew while she was alive now view on her. To

Analyzing And Exploring The Global City

Throughout the years, people from all over the world have migrated to Australia and the United
States of America to create better lives for themselves such as escaping religious/political
persecution, obtaining a better education, reuniting with their families, becoming exposed to more
job opportunities, and various other reasons (Singer 2). Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in America and
Sydney, New South Wales in Australiahave similar immigration patterns, settlement trends, and
impacts. However, the communities of immigrants tend to not follow the same behaviors in both
cities. Immigration is vital for continuous economic and social growth. Thus, what impact does
immigration have on these two cities?
In 2011, Australia s population was 26% migrants compared to America s, which was only 13% (
4102.0 Australian Social Trends, 2014 ). Migration is essential to Australia s population; in 2011,
over 5 million migrants resided in Australia. Immigrants from England (over 1 million) and New
Zealand (almost half a million) dominate Australia s migrant community. Australia s migrant
population also includes large numbers of Chinese, Indian, Italian, and Vietnamese immigrants
among many others. On average, most migrants stay in Australia for 20 years. Some migrants stay

Who Is Andrew Jackson Responsible For The Indian Removal Act
Andrew Jackson Debate Response
Although there have been arguments made in support for Andrew Jackson, his decision to [pass the
Indian Removal Acts were completely unhumanitarian. Andrew Jackson has to be held responsible
for the thousands of unnecessary deaths he caused, and he has to be portrayed for the man he really
was: a corrupt leader that lead America into committing mass genocide against the indigenous
people of America. This should not be looked over due to the other achievements Andrew Jackson
had completed during his life. He committed mass genocide, he was a racist who was driven to kill
and enslave other living, breathing humans, and he killed thousands of Native Americans for land
that America had no need for. He needs to be held at fault for his actions, and they simply cannot be
accounted for as humanitarian. Despite Andrew Jackson not being able to predict the outcomes and
consequences of the Indian Removal Act, there is no justifying his actions. Andrew Jackson was
the man who openly gave approval to committing mass genocide for the Native Americans,
forcibly removed thousands of Native Americans from lands they had owned for thousands of
years prior, and approved and appointed the individuals in charge of starting the trail of tears. In
February 1830, the Indian Removal Act set in place that potentially allowed the president to grant
land that was west of the Mississippi river in exchange for Native American s land within existing
state borders. In theory, this plan would allow the native to earn money if they wished to move,
and in return the Americans could acquire more land. The outcome of this, however, was a bloody
massacre. Many of the Native Americans did not want to move, since they have been living there
for thousands of years, longer than the whites have been there. Since many of them did not want to
move, the Americans used force in an attempt to push the Native Americans west in a movement
that killed over 4,000 natives. There is no justifying what Andrew Jackson did in order to gain more
unnecessary land. Throughout his life, Andrew Jackson proved time and time again that he was,
indeed, an extraordinarily racist man. As a result, his actions against the Native Americans

The Chinese Communist government has complete power over the legislation, economic and

Beowulf s uncle is king of the Geats so Beowulf is sent to help rid the Danes of the evil Grendel.
Beowulf risks his own life for the Danes, asking help from no one. He realizes the dangers but fears
nothing for his own life. After Beowulf had served his people as King of the Geats for fifty
years, he goes to battle one last time to fight a horrible dragon whom is frightening all of his
people. Beowulf is old and tired but he fights the dragon in order to protect his people. Even in
death he wished to secure safety for the Geats so a tall lighthouse is built in order to help the
people find there way back from sea.
The most heroic of traits within Beowulf is that he is not afraid to die. He always explains his
death wishes before going into battle and requests to have any assets delivered to his people.

he fights an enemy like Grendel or Grendel s mother he will achieve immortality as the victor or
the loser. I resolved when I sat down in the sea boat with my men, that I should fulfill the will of

Mansa Musa Legacy
Mansa Musa one of the richest rulers in the world and the ruled the Mali Empire in the 14th
century. At the time he was crowned, Europe was in a state of flux and suffering in terms of
economic prosperity, however many African nations were thriving. While ruling, Mansa Musa
tremendously expanded the borders of his empire and also annexed the city of Timbuktu. His entire
nation spanned over 2,000 miles. On his elaborate pilgrimage to Mecca, he sought out Middle
Eastern and European rulers to establish better relations with them. While on his way, he traveled
with many camels, tens of thousands of soldiers and so much gold that the rest of the world
started to know him as one of the richest men of the world. In his stop to Cairo, he gave so much
money to the poor and spent so much gold that his efforts almost resulted in mass inflation, which
took many years to tone down that economic crisis. Over the time Mansa Musa ruled, he became a
rich man and well known throughout Europe and the Middle East. For this course, this ties in Africa
s relevance to Europe and the Middle East. This opens up a door for both trade and war in the future.

How Does Catullus Show Creativity
The human is capable of a plethora of emotions. With such emotions we are capable of
expression that spans across many different forms. This emotional expression is found
throughout history and fully enhanced by creative minds like Edgar Allan Poe, Daniel Dumile,
and Seba Jun. These individuals are professionals at compiling entire masses of their inner
emotions to create works that vividly express what they are experiencing. There are only a
selective few who have been able to reach this level of creativity, and I believe that a specific
Roman deserves to be recognized. Catullus displayed controversial themes in his work proudly,
created art for those he loved, and confronted his adversaries without fear which inspires my
artistic qualities. Catullus was not afraid of what he had to say in his poems. His expression
could take very questionable routes, but he never seemed uncomfortable doing so. When he was
partaking in describing one s purity, he was not scared of making the comparison of an anal cavity
to that of a salt cellar. This uncensored projection displays many ideas on Catullus s character and
his care for societal blockage. Firstly, it shows that he is willing to come out and say the exact
thoughts in his head rather than change it to suit the sensitivities of society. Such... Show more

multitude of severe swears in an attempt to dismiss him. Being an avid listener to many musical

The next spring the cow died from the disease. Dr. Harmes sent the digestive tract of the bovine to
the Veterinary Unit in Dresden to be examined and studied to find out exactly what happened to the
cow. Dr. H.A. Johne and Dr. L. Frothingham examined the tissues. They found thickened intestinal

Children Of A Lesser God Summary
In Children of a Lesser God, the perception of deafness by hearing individuals is one of
inferiority by James. People who assume deaf individuals signing as inferior in some way, are not
able to recognize the person as someone who simply just communicates in a different language.
Like with any individual, the only way to break the us vs them barrier is to get to know the person,
no matter who, is by a means of communicationthat satisfies and connects both parties.
Firstly, there are multiple perceptions on the deaf community. James was not able to respect
Sarah s decision to communicate in her language since he held speaking and lip reading to a
superior standard to signing. He had view closer to that of an oralist and wanted Sarah to
overcome by attempting to speak and read lips, so that [she] could better keep pace with [her]
normal competitors (Baynton). This puts an emphasis on deaf people and signing as primitive and
inferior when compared to speaking. Another perception of deafness is one of having a disability
that is easily accommodated by signing and other forms of communication in order to survive in
the world of hearing. This is a view of the principal, Dr. Franklin and is labeled as combinist . The
final, contrasting perception is that of the scholar that James and Sarah visit. She was able to not
only survive with her abilities but also to thrive. In the scenes ... Show more content on

Essay On Kettle Bottom
In the book Kettle Bottom there are three sections divided, with several different narrators. The
narrators appear and disappear throughout the book. One of the poems stood out, which pertained

I believe that the Appalachian women were exhilarating and independent women, that should
have never been overlooked, just as it is displayed. I found this piece so interesting as Fisher dug
deeper into the women, making them appear more in depth. In the second appearance of My
Dearest Hazel, the sister is writing to Hazel, following up with her. At this point her sister has
observed that Hazel is pregnant and it is also now known to the readers that Hazel married
Turely. As her sister stated, I afeared that s what it was, Hazel, when I see you at the wedding,
looking so pale and peaked. Her sister explains her fear for Hazel and that most people are stuck
living in tents. Her fear is that she will end up living the same. Her sister states, You get ready,
honey / Cart all your canned goods up to Momma s, your quilts, / your pretty dishes them Baldwin
Felts / break things up when they put people out / and you will need / to hang onto whatever you
can (Fisher, 27).
The chance Turly not surviving from working in the coal mine, and the fear of marriage not
working with a child makes Hazel s sister concerned. She wants Hazel to cherish the things she
already has, before she loses then. I found this poem so intriguing as Hazel s pregnancy was not
something celebrated but something feared. Pregnancy is typically an exciting time for a woman,
but in this situation was something not recommended. The last poem in the

The Purpose Of Property And Casualty Insurance
Purpose of Property and Casualty Insurance
Our Red River Wealth Management firm wants to not only help protect your money but your
tangible assets and home as well. Property insurance helps lessen the burden of replacing these
assets if they were to be damaged or destroyed. Below are our recommendations for property and
casualty insurance in regards to your cars, home, jewelry, health, and disability.
Recommendations for Homeowners Insurance
Your current homeowner s insurance policy is below the adequate coverage. You are currently
paying $1,500 annually and receiving minimum coverage on a named peril basis. We
recommend upgrading your current coverage to an HO5 policy that includes all structures and
belongings on an all peril basis. An all peril basis means that you are covered for a larger number
of risk exposures, where your current policy only covers a certain number leaving you exposed
to larger loss. This policy will be around $5,200 annually on your current home and $5,900 for
your future home. These policies have a lower deductible of 1% ($3,500 on current home and
$4,000 on future home), $200,000 in coverage, and the umbrella minimum coverage. See the
appendix for an in depth calculation of coverage for your current and future home.
Recommendations for Liability Insurance
We recommend purchasing an umbrella policy worth $1,000,000. An umbrella or liability policy
will protect your assets from being taken in case of a lawsuit. A policy of this amount

My most important take away from studying the four religions this semester about building a life
of meaning, purpose, and fulfilment is self identification. In order to live a life of meaning,
purpose, and fulfilment, the individual must be able to realize who they are as a person and
only then is when an individual start to realize how they can live a life of meaning, purpose, and
fulfilment. Being able to discover what brings you happiness, knowing your strengths and
talents, and finding the unmet needs of individuals around you guides an individual to self
identification. If an individual is able to understand what brings them happiness, it leads to a
life of meaning because you have something to look forward to. It brings a life of purpose
because then you understand what your purpose is through what makes you happy and by living
a life of meaning and purpose leads a life of fulfillment. My gold nugget can enhance my efforts
to build a life of meaning, purpose, and fulfillment because as I keep figuring out who I am as a
person, what makes me happy, my strengths and talents, and helping others it will lead me to
understand what my purpose is. Once I know what my purpose is, then I can live a meaningful life

Lung Diffusion Capacity Test Lab Report
Another very important pulmonary function test used in various healthcare settings is lung
diffusion capacity testing, also known as DLCO. DLCO stands for diffusion capacity of the lung
for carbon monoxide, measuring the extent in which oxygen passes from the alveoli of the lungs
into the bloodstream. Results of this test are used to help determine the amount of damage to the
lungs or abnormality, by answering to how well the lungs can move gases into the bloodstream.
This test is performed by having the individual breath in some air containing a very small amount
of carbon monoxide and a tracer gas which is usually helium or methane. Physicians will often walk
them through the 10 second hold breath technique, where they are asked to hold their breath for 10
seconds after the initial inhalation of the CO/tracer mixture, then rapidly exhale after the time is up.

The results are measured by calculating the difference between the amount of the CO/tracer mixture
inhaled minus the amount of the mixture exhaled. This difference in amount represents how much
of the mixture diffused across the alveolar capillary wall, where the CO/tracer is a representation
of oxygen diffusion. There are three major factors that determine diffusion capacity: the amount of
lung tissue that comes into contact with blood vessels (surface area), the thickness of the wall of
the alveolus (the thicker the wall, the lower the diffusion capacity) and the pressure difference
between the gas in the alveoli and the gas in the blood . Some pulmonary diseases that may result
in a lower than normal DLCO include emphysema, from decreased surface area for diffusion, and
fibrosis, from increased thickness of the alveolar

Goodyear?s principal business is the development, manufacture, distribution and sale of tires
throughout the world. The distribution of tires represented 83% of the company?s corporate sales
of $10.9 billion in 1991. Around 60% of Goodyear worldwide sales were in the tire replacement
market and 40% were to the original equipment market. Because of the Goodyear name, which is
one of the best known brand names in the world, the Goodyear tires have been positioned and
priced as premium quality brands. It is one of the leading national advertisers in the U.S. The
company also operates around 1,000 company owned Goodyear Auto Service Centers and sells
through 2,500 franchised Goodyear Tires Dealers in the U.S. These outlets account for a good
portion of the company?s annual tire sales.
Recommendations
Because of an industry analysis that expects Sears to benefit from carrying Goodyear tires, I
think it would be a good idea for Goodyear to sell their tires at Sears? stores. The fact that
Goodyear is losing many customers to Sears by Sears not offering replacement tires to their
customers is becoming a large loss of business for Goodyear. The customers at Sears are returning
customers, and feel that the integrity of the company is well represented by the products they
offer. For Goodyear to sell their products at the Sears stores, it would show that the Goodyear name
stands for quality and that the product can be

Definition Of Clinical Governance And Accountability
Introduction:
Within this assignment, the definition of clinical governance and accountability will be explored
and discussed using a literature search. A case example will be used and briefly discuss the
accountability of the nurse and other health professionals of professional standards, local polices
and law. Confidentiality has been maintained within the use of the case example.
A literature search was carried out for clinical governance using the British Nursing Index (BNI).
Results originated from 9,616 when Clinical Governance was inputted. Results reduced
significantly when definition of clinical governance was inputted to 1,278 into the BNI titles
were read, before articles were chosen for abstracts to be read. After abstracts were read, if
appropriate the full articles were read (see appendices 1). Clinical governance was first introduced
by the World Health Organisation (WHO) (Som, 2009) . Som, (2004) definition of clinical
governance focuses on Managing systems to improve outcomes of health care service delivery, the
WHO (1998) definition also focuses on improving health care services but additionally focuses on
professional performance, resource allocation risk management and patient satisfaction. Department
of Health (DoH) (1998) has described clinical governance as a framework which focuses on
accountability of health care services to improve services. Scally and Donaldson (1998) used the
same definition in 1998. A contemporary definition from Nutbeam

Does The Percentage Of Fat Affect The Height Of Ice Cream
How Does the Percentage of Fat in Milk Affect the Height of Ice Cream?
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to determine how different types of milk and cream, with
different percentages of fat, affect the height of the resulting ice cream.
Background Information Fats are lipids, which are organic compounds composed of hydrogen,
carbon, and oxygen. Most fat molecules consist of three fatty acid tails and a glycerol. Fatty acid
tails are made of hydrogen and carbon, the way that they are arranged determines the type of fat.
There are two broad categories of fats saturated and unsaturated. Saturated fats contain only single
bonds between carbons, while unsaturated fats contain double or triple bonds. When saturated, they
are filled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the ingredients are mixed together, the fat particles are disturbed and broken apart. Air is
distributed into the mixture and held in place between the fat molecules to create a smooth
texture ( The Science of Ice Cream , PhysicsBuzz). At first, these products are close to room
temperature, conversely, the end product is a frozen dessert. To do this, the mixture must be
cooled past its freezing point. The ice is what ultimately freezes the cream. However, since the
mixture is not just pure water, which freezes at 0В° Celsius, the freezing point must be cooler.
Freezing point depression is a colligative property where more solute is added to the solvent. In
this case, salt is the solute and the ice/water is the solvent. If the concentration of the solution is
increased, consequently, the freezing point will decrease to be lower than that of the usual. The
new change will then allow the ice to absorb the heat and melt, while transferring the coldness to
the ice cream. When the ice constantly comes in contact with the salt crystals, by stirring,
churning, or other methods, it becomes cooler because of the interaction between them. By
lowering the temperature of the ice and salt mixture, the ice cream is able to harden and take
shape because it still freezes at 0В° Celsius and it is being cooled down to reach that

Building Face Composites Can Harm Lineup Identification...
1: Briefly describe the aim(s) of the study:
In the extract the authors state that the aim of the experiment was to determine if the composite
building process could harm (or alter) the builder s remembrance of a face in a lineup
identification situation. The study also seems to have a number of secondary aims with the two
experiments using still photos in the lineup in experiment #1 and the eyewitnesses watching a
replicated crime video in its place of still photos for experiment #2. The 2nd experiment also
questions what will happen if the witness views a lineup that does not contain the actual target,
whereas in the first experiment the target was always in the lineup.
2: Indicate whether or not the study was theoretically motivated:
The introduction segment of the article delivers substantial review of the literature that has driven
the study. They note that over the last 25 30 years, cognitive and social psychologists have
performed research questioning the accuracy of eyewitness identification evidence and are planning
methods to advance eyewitness identification precision (Cutler Penrod, 1995; Wells, 1993).
Additionally they note that the U.S justice system has now started to incorporate better methods of
eyewitness identification based on this psychological research (Wells et al., 2000).
The authors state that over the last decade, forensic DNA testing has been used to exonerate people
who were convicted of crimes they did not commit, and the vast

Wuthering Heights Justice Quotes
In the novel by Emily Bronte, Wuthering Heights, one of the main characters, named Heathcliff
Earnshaw, is in search for justice and vengeance throughout his whole life. First, Heathcliff wants
justice by mistreating his brother s son the way he mistreated when they were children. Also he
searches justice by destroying his lover s husband and taking Thrushcross Grange as his property.
Furthermore, it is noticeable that Heathcliffs perspective of justice is actually revenge.
Although Hindley s son, Hareton, was not guilty for the way his father treated Heathcliff, he still
took his anger into the little child. After Mr. Earnshaw s death, Hindley degraded Heathcliff by
making him a servant just because he had always been their father s favorite

Literary Devices In Llake By William Blake
Jerusalem by William Blake, the title of this poem, references the city of Jerusalem. The holy
land for the Christian and Islamic religion. William Blake was religious during his lifetime (as it
showed in many of his poems) and it was said that he had visions of god and archangels in his
childhood. So as simple as the title may seem, it symbolizes the ideas that Blake had towards
religion. Blake might also talk about how England invaded Jerusalem, and it would depend on his
viewpoint, if he thinks of it positively, or something that goes against his beliefs. It could also be
an ode to Jerusalem, as previously mentioned, William Blake was very religious and this poem
could demonstrate his appreciation towards God.

Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of The Movie The Single Moms...
In today s society, media portrays more stereotypes than we can count on one hand. Latino s and
Latina s are particularly stereotyped in media way too often. This overview of the most common
Hispanic stereotypes portrayed in the media reveals why sweeping generalizations about Latinos
are harmful (Nittle). Whether it is a male or female Latin actress/actor, the stereotypesrage from:
Latin lovers and sexpot s to thugs and immigrants. When in reality, not all Latino s are what the
stereotypes claim.
Have you ever seen a movie or show in which the main male character is a Hispanic hunk who
gets all the ladies? He would be considered a Latin Lover , which in other words is the real world
Latino Ken Doll with a great romantic and sexual prowess. William Levy, a Cuban American
actor and model, is an exact replica of this Latin Ken Doll. In the movie, The Single Moms Club,
Levy plays the hunky secret boyfriend of one of the mothers. Of course, because he is a Latin
lover he is absolutely gorgeous just as his lady is, he is said to be a master in the sheets and also
has a big heart. Although in the real world, just as any other culture or race, not all Latino men are
perfect, and mirror Greek Gods.
Latina women are often portrayed as sexy, sassy, and spicy on television according to Sexy, Sassy,
Spicy: The Portrayal of Latina Women in American Television. As a Hispanic woman, you must be
loud, sexy, have a huge attitude and not speak fluent English, or at least this is what

Feral Child Research Paper
A feral child or a wild child is defined as a human child who has been isolated from human
interaction from an early age, where they have a slight or no experience of human care, contact, or
no understanding of human languages. Feral children have also been constrained by people in
some cases, including their own parents or guardians. This form of neglection was due to the
parent s denial of care and affection towards the child. Feral children normally exhibit some form
of common behavior due to their lack of human contact. One major behavioral characteristic is there
is an absence of any form of social skills. For example, they might not be interested in human

Analysis Of Hide And Seek
Hide and Seek was written by Jakayla Towey. It is a horror story surrounding the ever changing
life of Emily. I would recommend this read to those who are interested in psychological horror. Its
development around the game Hide and Seek and the state of being completely insane is very
intriguing and will leave most thinking. The story won wattpad s Watty Award in 2016 for best
horror. The story never heads in an expected direction and always keeps you on your toes
anticipating the next event.
The story begins with a lighthearted game of hide and seek between emily, our main character,
Caleb, Emily s little brother, and Abby, her best friend. Hide and seek is emily s favorite game
and plays an important role in the story hence, Hide and Seek . After their game has ended and
abby has headed home, Emily wakes up in the night to see sirens outside of her home and police
shouting come out of the house . Frightened she hides under her bed hoping that caleb and her
family have done the same. Later, in a police car, emile sees the police take two men and two
body bags out of the house. Emily, while expecting her parents to walk out, soon realizes why her
parents aren t walking out of the house, her parents had been murdered, and she had been sleeping
through the entire ordeal. The two would now have to leave everything and live with the Harmons,
a name emily faintly remembers. They arrive at the harmons stunning mansion and meet Mr. and

Saluto, the club had a lot of members and was very senior heavy. The disproportionate amount of
seniors the Class of 2014 at the time resulted in the club losing a significant number of members
last year. A key issue for the advisors and club members is re building the club and recruiting
underclassmen.
Most EHS Government Club members prepare bills for the mock legislature. One of the club s two
presidents, Senior Jacob Poirier, introduced Senate Bill No. 5: The Addition of a Computer Science
Requirement in Table 306 2 of the Minimum Standards for Public School Approval. Poirier stated
that the vague and abstract nature of NH s current information and communications technologies
requirements prompted him to write the bill. SB No. 5 passed committee, but the Senate floor ran
out of time while debating it.
Government Club s other president, Senior Andrew MacDougall, co authored House Bill No. 78
Relative to Court Appointed Attorneys with Sophomore James Kennish. MacDougall states that
his inspiration for HB No. 78 came from binge watching clips from John Oliver s show [while]
procrastinating. HB No. 78 was one of the few bills the Governor signed into law this year.
This is Ms. Saluto s 3rd year and Ms. Catcher s 4th year advising Government Club. Ms. Saluto
stated that her cooperating teacher the teacher she interned with was Ms. Vandersall, so upon her
retirement, it seemed like a natural fit to advise Government Club.

How Did Huck Finn Change
The ending was not appropriate, the whole book was about how Huck has changed and how his
thinking evolving for it all to revert back to Tom Sawyer s ways. It was supposed to be about how a
white boy and a black slave, can overcome their ways of growing up, and thinking, to actually be
able to talk to each other and act as if they were to normal people people, not as if they were master
and slave. When Tom Sawyeris brought into the book at the end, it ruins the whole dynamic of
the story. It reverts it back to the ways before, and makes it seem as if Huck didn t actually
change, as if the only thing making Jim and Huck act that way towards each other, as if the the

There are many foods in our diets today that are filled with sugar or unneccesary things that we
eat and we are unaware of. Our diets should be consisted of lots of vegetables and protein to be
able to live healthier and not having things such as too much oil or sugar and salt in our diets.
Another important strategy to use is to make sure not to overeat. According to an article on Health
.com research had been done in Japan and what they realized was that they would only eat until
they were 80 percent full. This helps them live longer and live healthier without feeling
overstuffed with food. To eating better you must able to see your food and that would be very
difficult if you are watching T.V. or your laptop while you are eating. Eating a meal with people
and communicating is a very good way to be able to both connect with people as well as eating
slower and realizing you are full quicker ( 9 Ways To Live Longer ). In conclusion, living a
healthy lifestyle takes time and effort however it is achievable once you start. A healthy lifestyle
includes understanding the important and healthy foods that you should eat as well as exercising
and being active daily. Once you live a healthier lifestyle the quality of life that you will live will be

Fdi Drawbacks
Arguments against FDI in Retail in India 1. Predatory Pricing With its incredibly deep pockets
Wal Mart will be able to sustain losses for many years till its immediate competition is wiped
out. This is a normal predatory strategy used by large players to drive out small and dispersed
competition. This entails job losses by the millions. 2. Labour Displacement Another factor is that
it can only expand by destroying the traditional retail sector. Till such time we are in a position to
create jobs on a large scale in manufacturing, it would make eminent sense that any policy that
results in the elimination of jobs in the unorganised retail sector should be kept on hold. If we
assume 40 mn adults in the retail sector, it would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wal Mart has a clearly defined anti union policy aimed at preventing its work force from gaining
any collective bargaining power which could result in increased wages, covered health benefits
and job security. 10. As per International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN) data, milk producers
in the US got only 38 per cent share of the consumer s dollar spent on milk, while the rest was
earned by the processor and retailer. In the United Kingdom, the milk producers got only 36
percent. However, in India, the milk producer gets more than 70 per cent of the consumer s
rupee on an average. Moreover, the milk producer affiliated to co operatives get more than 80
per cent share of the consumer s rupee. In the US, the farmer s share in the consumer s price has
declined from 52 per cent in 1996 to 38 per cent in 2009, while in the UK it has declined from 56
per cent in 1996 to 38 per cent in 2009. This decline clearly demonstrates that the milk producers
suffer when the share of organised retail increases. 11. If we take the total retail sales in India to
be Rs. 312180 crore approximately (which is around 11% of India s GDP at factor cost at
current prices in 2004 05), turnover per employee for the Indian retail sector comes to around Rs.

  • 2. Penelope In The Penelopiad Atwood s take on the character of Penelope in The Penelopiad first describes her as an average and modest woman with a single defining trait of intelligence, whereas Odysseus is introduced to the story as a cheat and a thief. In due time, Odysseus leaves to fight in the war against Troy, and then starts his ten year voyage back to Ithaca. When Odysseus finally returns home, Penelope knows to not reveal his true identity and doesn t tell him of her deceptive ways. The two characters have flipped traits in this way, as now Penelope is the master of tricks and Odysseus follows her lead. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Different Types Of Therapy For Me Just by walking into the occupational therapy clinic, I know I am changing lives. When I can make children happy by simply offering a toy or a pleasant smile, while inside they may be struggling, I know I chose the right career to pursue. Therapy of all types is rewarding. Nothing compares to the feeling you get when you see someone improving and you know you had a hand in that improvement. But occupational therapytranscends all other types of therapyfor me because it involves helping people on a more emotional and psychological level. Being able to volunteer and observe occupational therapists at work showed me children who were often not able to complete daily tasks. Seeing the children struggle with their fears and issues was extremely difficult, but watching them slowly improve and gain confidence week after week was beyond rewarding. They are not only able to find the strength to overcome their problems with each session, they are able to adapt a more normal life, which is something I believe everyone should have a chance at. Choosing OT was not a quick or easy decision for me. My first job was teaching swimming lessons to kids at a local fitness facility and I knew after working there for several years that I wanted to work with children in some way. My degree in psychology steered me toward the work of Child Life Specialists, who would comfort and help in patient children and their families at hospitals. Wanting to find out more about the career, I signed up for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Edomite by birth whose family had converted to Judaism, Herod was appointed as King by Augustus Caesar. Herod the Great was born in 73 BC and reigned from 37 BC to 4 BC. The kingdom under Herod was very oppressed. He ruled as a tyrant, imposing dreadful and demoralizing taxes on his people, and severely punishing those who could not pay. Perhaps one of the most notable examples of his ruthlessness, was the murder of his own wife and sons whom he feared where plotting against him. During his reign, he successfully undertook many building projects, the most well known of which is probably the development of the Port of Caesarea ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Texas Tax Rebates There is no doubt that Texas s state government is one of the most conservative in the nation on both an economic and social level. As a governing body Texas has fought to deregulate itself on the bases that a weak government translates to strong personal liberties. The political culture of the state is apparent to all who live there. However, in recent history Texashas proven to be a solid competitor when offering tax rebates to filmmakers and videogame creators who produce their content in the state. These rebates refund some of the production costs and are widely considered to be beneficial to employment within the state s entertainment and tourism industry (Weed). Sadly, in 2015 Texas lawmakers cut the previously impressive budget for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The argument comes from the fiscally conservative mindset, arguing that using taxpayer money for non necessities, like film is wasteful. However, this view overlooks that the state s rebate program exists as an investment that the state will eventually make profit on in the form of economic growth through employment. The legislation providing such rebates likely would never have existed in the first place if it were not economically beneficial to the state. Additionally, providing rebates is more likely to attract production of the benefit films that have tighter budgets and have trouble breaking even, rather than the stereotypical big budget films, meaning that rebates could mean the difference of a production company moving forward with riskier films or not. The Hollywood welfare argument is a politically expedient one because of the way Hollywood is viewed politically in present day American culture. Many on America s rightwing view Hollywood as a big elitist organization with a liberal political agenda. Rhetoric like Hollywood welfare truly is a representation of the divisive nature of modern times. Schimmel writes in an essay regarding rhetoric that language affects our perception and understanding of social and political realities, irrespective of how accurately it reflects them. Conservative state politicians have capitalized on the preconditioned distrust conservatives have toward Hollywood paired with the negative connotations that the political right has associated with welfare has led to film tax incentives taking major blows, especially in predominantly conservative ... • 8. The Ultimate Entrepreneur Essay example The Ultimate Entrepreneur In 2002 it was reported that George W. Bush told the then prime minister Tony Blair that The problem with the French is that they don t have a word for entrepreneur . Putting it kindly, this was a mistake. Translated from French, an entrepreneur is someone who undertakes something. Of course it carries a much wider meaning than that in the modern English definition. An entrepreneur is someone who takes an idea and builds it into something great and successful. Someone with vision, drive and creativity, and the will to make it happen, often against difficult odds. Or certainly that s the general perception. Does this person have to be a genius? Above average intelligence? What defines an entrepreneur really? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As an entrepreneur you re in the uncertainty business, so you need a high tolerance for risk. You need to be willing to fail several times if necessary in order to get it right in the end, and you need to be flexible in your thinking. Your idea may need to change as your journey unfolds, and you need to be open enough to accept and work with that change. Uncertainty is a scary place, so you will need to deal with the fear associated with that. Fear of not knowing where next month s pay cheque is coming from, fear of failure. You must become accustomed to insecurity as a life choice. And you ll need the ability to think creatively so you can change perspective to solve all those inevitable problems that come up. So far then we have vision, passion, persistence, high risk tolerance, flexible and creative thinking. Throw in resilience for good measure. Not many people have these qualities up front, or maybe more importantly, are willing to adopt them. It is argued that our education system does nothing to promote entrepreneurship either. With its emphasis on conformity and thinking inside the box , it arguably stifles creativity. It is interesting to note that people like Richard Branson, Alan Sugar and Steve Jobs didn t finish higher education, and Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard. I m not saying ... Philippines Research Paper 30,000 years ago, it is believed that the Negritos have migrated to the Philippines from Borneo, Sumatra, and Malaya. Following that, the Malayans followed in successive waves. The Malayan culture has survived to this day among certain groups such as the Igorots. The later Malayan tribes that came had more highly developed cultures. In the 14th century, Arab traders introduced Islam to the islands and extended their influence. After World War II, Manuel Roxas became the first president of the Republic of the Philippines when independence was granted, as scheduled, on July 4, 1946 from the United States. As time went along, the Philippines had more presidents after Roxas, including Elpidio Quirino, Ramon Magsaysay, Carlos P. GarcГa, and Diosdado Macapagal, all who served 4 year terms. Then, the president after Macapagal, Ferdinand E. Marcos, served as president from 1965 to 1986. During this time, government corruption and civil disorder increased. After a series of fraud attempts in the 1986 elections, Marcos lost his support and Corazon Aquino became president. This time period was the rise of independent philosophy and the linkage between their understandings with the theories of past philosophers. The history of medieval philosophy is divided into two periods; the period of the Christian philosophy, which included St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Augustine, and Marsilius of Padua. The next period of the medieval philosophy known as the golden age of Arabic phosphors, this age of philosophers included Al Farabi, Ibn Tufayl, and Moses Maimonides. both political periods were infused with great ideological views. St. Augustine shared similar beliefs to Aquinas. He beloved that man is evil, so there is a need for political authority. His idea was that the people within the state would act virtuously and by doing this, they would follow the laws set by man. The medieval philosophers originated from the middle east, yet most adopted Jewish beliefs. Constitutors such as al farabi, ibn tufayl, and moss Maimonides produced some of the most profound pieces in Arabic political history. During this time, the Islamic region strongly dismissed the notions of Aristotle and Plato and focused solely on their religious teaching. But the Arabic philosophers saw a connection between the two. yet, they found it necessary to incorporate the idea of reason into their teachings. This caused conflict within their society because the citizens believed that there was no need for reason, rather the only need was God and his teachings. Further, they believed that the teachings of reason did not link to their religious values. Al Farabi infused his work with the work of Aristotle and Plato such as; the survival of the soul and the punishment of the afterlife. • 13. Convenience And Association When Talking With One Another Convenience and association when talking with one another is one of many uses that names provide. Names carry strong ethnics and religious connotations, and reveal an individual s affiliation to a specific group. They are able to capture and reflect upon one s unique culture, history, religion, and lineage. The sense of personal identity and uniqueness that a name gives us is why names interest us and are deemed so important to us as individuals. Unfortunately those of us who carry names that are hard to pronounce or are simply strange in the eyes of the western world, feel inclined to accommodate to much more Eurocentric names. In spite of their importance, the practice of white washing foreign names is dangerous. It affects all generations in a lineage from the past, present, to the future. Therefore, names have been homogenized for the convenience of the colonizer throughout history, can be seen in current social Chinese policies today, and consequently creates a homogenized legacy of children wearing white masks for future generations. Although many foreigners take part in this name change practice, this research paper will focus on the Chinese American phenomena of name changes. Consequently, Chinese Americans are becoming the new victims forced to wear white masks by their colonizers. It is necessary to analyze this phenomenon to secure the integrity of all cultures. Finally, through a devastating disappointment it turns out that the diggerwas only her dog burying its bone. It can be the leaves of a plant with bitter, strongly scented smell or it can means regret and sorrow. It symbolizes the bad relationship between the dead woman and her husband. As the other meaning, regret and sorrow is what the woman thought her husband should be experiencing. When someone dies, people usually put beautiful flowers beside the grave. However, she believes that her husband will plant rue instead if he even came. Therefore, readers can see the worse relationship between them. Further more, in the last stanza of this poem it states, to bury a bone (l. 32), this statement also has a deeper meaning than what it means literally, it also symbolizes the death of the woman. • 18. Who Is Andrew Jackson Responsible For The Indian Removal Act Andrew Jackson Debate Response Although there have been arguments made in support for Andrew Jackson, his decision to [pass the Indian Removal Acts were completely unhumanitarian. Andrew Jackson has to be held responsible for the thousands of unnecessary deaths he caused, and he has to be portrayed for the man he really was: a corrupt leader that lead America into committing mass genocide against the indigenous people of America. This should not be looked over due to the other achievements Andrew Jackson had completed during his life. He committed mass genocide, he was a racist who was driven to kill and enslave other living, breathing humans, and he killed thousands of Native Americans for land that America had no need for. He needs to be held at fault for his actions, and they simply cannot be accounted for as humanitarian. Despite Andrew Jackson not being able to predict the outcomes and consequences of the Indian Removal Act, there is no justifying his actions. Andrew Jackson was the man who openly gave approval to committing mass genocide for the Native Americans, forcibly removed thousands of Native Americans from lands they had owned for thousands of years prior, and approved and appointed the individuals in charge of starting the trail of tears. In February 1830, the Indian Removal Act set in place that potentially allowed the president to grant land that was west of the Mississippi river in exchange for Native American s land within existing state borders. In theory, this plan would allow the native to earn money if they wished to move, and in return the Americans could acquire more land. The outcome of this, however, was a bloody massacre. Many of the Native Americans did not want to move, since they have been living there for thousands of years, longer than the whites have been there. Since many of them did not want to move, the Americans used force in an attempt to push the Native Americans west in a movement that killed over 4,000 natives. There is no justifying what Andrew Jackson did in order to gain more unnecessary land. Throughout his life, Andrew Jackson proved time and time again that he was, indeed, an extraordinarily racist man. As a result, his actions against the Native Americans ... At the time he was crowned, Europe was in a state of flux and suffering in terms of economic prosperity, however many African nations were thriving. While ruling, Mansa Musa tremendously expanded the borders of his empire and also annexed the city of Timbuktu. His entire nation spanned over 2,000 miles. On his elaborate pilgrimage to Mecca, he sought out Middle Eastern and European rulers to establish better relations with them. This emotional expression is found throughout history and fully enhanced by creative minds like Edgar Allan Poe, Daniel Dumile, and Seba Jun. These individuals are professionals at compiling entire masses of their inner emotions to create works that vividly express what they are experiencing. There are only a selective few who have been able to reach this level of creativity, and I believe that a specific Roman deserves to be recognized. Catullus displayed controversial themes in his work proudly, created art for those he loved, and confronted his adversaries without fear which inspires my artistic qualities. People who assume deaf individuals signing as inferior in some way, are not able to recognize the person as someone who simply just communicates in a different language. Like with any individual, the only way to break the us vs them barrier is to get to know the person, no matter who, is by a means of communicationthat satisfies and connects both parties. Firstly, there are multiple perceptions on the deaf community. James was not able to respect Sarah s decision to communicate in her language since he held speaking and lip reading to a superior standard to signing. He had view closer to that of an oralist and wanted Sarah to overcome by attempting to speak and read lips, so that [she] could better keep pace with [her] normal competitors (Baynton). This puts an emphasis on deaf people and signing as primitive and inferior when compared to speaking. Another perception of deafness is one of having a disability that is easily accommodated by signing and other forms of communication in order to survive in the world of hearing. Property insurance helps lessen the burden of replacing these assets if they were to be damaged or destroyed. Below are our recommendations for property and casualty insurance in regards to your cars, home, jewelry, health, and disability. DLCO stands for diffusion capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide, measuring the extent in which oxygen passes from the alveoli of the lungs into the bloodstream. Results of this test are used to help determine the amount of damage to the lungs or abnormality, by answering to how well the lungs can move gases into the bloodstream. This test is performed by having the individual breath in some air containing a very small amount of carbon monoxide and a tracer gas which is usually helium or methane. Physicians will often walk them through the 10 second hold breath technique, where they are asked to hold their breath for 10 seconds after the initial inhalation of the CO/tracer mixture, then rapidly exhale after the time is up. ... There are three major factors that determine diffusion capacity: the amount of lung tissue that comes into contact with blood vessels (surface area), the thickness of the wall of the alveolus (the thicker the wall, the lower the diffusion capacity) and the pressure difference between the gas in the alveoli and the gas in the blood . Purpose The purpose of this experiment was to determine how different types of milk and cream, with different percentages of fat, affect the height of the resulting ice cream. Background Information Fats are lipids, which are organic compounds composed of hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen. Most fat molecules consist of three fatty acid tails and a glycerol. Fatty acid tails are made of hydrogen and carbon, the way that they are arranged determines the type of fat. There are two broad categories of fats saturated and unsaturated. When the ingredients are mixed together, the fat particles are disturbed and broken apart. Air is distributed into the mixture and held in place between the fat molecules to create a smooth texture ( The Science of Ice Cream , PhysicsBuzz). At first, these products are close to room temperature, conversely, the end product is a frozen dessert. To do this, the mixture must be cooled past its freezing point. The ice is what ultimately freezes the cream. However, since the mixture is not just pure water, which freezes at 0В° Celsius, the freezing point must be cooler. Freezing point depression is a colligative property where more solute is added to the solvent. In this case, salt is the solute and the ice/water is the solvent. If the concentration of the solution is increased, consequently, the freezing point will decrease to be lower than that of the usual. The new change will then allow the ice to absorb the heat and melt, while transferring the coldness to the ice cream. When the ice constantly comes in contact with the salt crystals, by stirring, churning, or other methods, it becomes cooler because of the interaction between them. By lowering the temperature of the ice and salt mixture, the ice cream is able to harden and take shape because it still freezes at 0В° Celsius and it is being cooled down to reach that ...
