Changes in Policy after School Shootings
Policies have changed since the shooting happened in Littleton, Colorado. Before Columbine the
primary goal of law enforcement officers before and during a shooting was to set up a perimeter and
await arrival of SWAT members (Erickson, 2001). This policy has changed in many states including
Pennsylvania where police had been preparing for active shooters with local schools. Police are not
able to wait the twenty minutes to an hour for SWAT to arrive at a scene which is why the state
mandated that local police receive active shooting training (Coughlin, 2012). This response and a
brochure that the Department of Homeland Security came out with are allowing schools a better
chance of eliminating a shooter with less causalities and injuries. This brochure goes into to profile of
an active shooter, how to respond to an active shooter, how to respond when law enforcement arrives,
training staff for an active shooter, preparing for and managing an active shooter situation, recognizing
workplace violence, managing the consequences of an active shooter, and lessons learned (DHS,
2008). Recommendations were made following the shooting to implement a command center with
personnel able to take command at the beginning of a crisis, control assembled personnel, and to
communicate objectives clearly (Erickson, 2001). This came after the failure of law enforcement to set
up a successful command center whereas Fire and EMS successfully instituted an incident command
center based on

How To Make A Latin American Popular Culture
Popular culture in Latin America is everything that has caused an action of doing or have done (Hall).
Also it can be seen as people desirers in which popular culture can describe them. Popular culture is
associated with all different kinds of symbols that include music, language, food, symbolic people,
religion, government, colors, social class, dress code, historical account, photograph, art, gender roles
and many more. These symbols have the ability of making a Latin America full of popular culture.
Popular culture is embedded in systems of people beliefs, in which culture becomes an alternative in
describing their popular culture in many different ways. In Latin America especially in Mexico, La

A Brief Note On The Aviation Safety Agency
With ICAO s leading, aviation safety has been developed internationally. As mentioned before, FAA
and ICAO worked together to provide safer operations in the airports globally. ICAO published their
Safety Management Manual(SMM) for providing acceptable safety performance throughout the
world. Civil aviation authorities get benefit out of these manuals and shared data. SMS requirements
provided by ICAO paved a path for every aviation organization to develop safety policies and safety
procedures. In February 2009 European Aviation Safety Agency(EASA) met with FAA, ICAO and
Transport Canada Civil Aviation(TCCA). The meeting was set to spread SMS throughout Europe and
America. Participants agreed on sharing SMS knowledge and established Safety Management
International Collaboration Group(SM ICG). SM ICG was set to meet semiannually and also with
teleconferences to develop SMS with projects and research groups. Each organization works
voluntarily for collaboration and affiliation to spread SMS knowledge all over the world. During
establishment of SM ICG, it is agreed that there would be interference with stakeholders in the
aviation industry. It is also agreed that CAST and ECAST which is European Commercial Aviation
Safety Team would work collaboratively for more reliable data sharing. The current core membership
of the SM ICG includes the Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) of Spain, the National Civil
Aviation Agency (ANAC) of Brazil, the Civil Aviation Authority of

A Comparsion of the Bhagavad Gita vs The Gospels Essay
Coming from a western culture, it is easy to familiarize with the Gospels over any other written text.
In order to get a different perspective on the outlook of life, it is better to compare the Gospels to
another written text. A text that is an excellent candidate to stand up next to the Gospels is the
Bhagavad Gita (or just the Gita). These two texts can depict similarities and differences between the
two cultures presented: Christianity and Hinduism. Keeping an open mind when reading cultural texts
is what makes the texts more interesting and informs the reader more clearly. The analysis between
one western text and one non western text can really widen the perspective of one person. Due to the
fact that Krishna from the Gita seems to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the messages is to basically love God more than anything and put him before everything. The
verse of Matthew 22:37 states that: Thou shalt love The Lord Thy God with all Thy heart, with all Thy
soul, and with all Thy might. Likewise, the Gita says, Keep your mind on me, be my devotee,
sacrificing, bow to me you will come to me, I promise, for you are dear to me (Gita 155). Clearly the
meanings behind both these quotes are the same but just worded differently. Krishna and Jesus
constantly emphasize certain aspects that are similar to the other person s teaching. This goes to show
that even though Hinduism and Christianity are two separate cultures with two different scriptural
texts and two different religions, the idea and meaning behind both of these religions are closely
related. No matter how different the two religions may appear to be, the meaning behind their
scriptures is what really defies their religion. Just because the two religions believe in different deities
doesn t mean that the deities aren t teaching the exact same thing. It s just that the two religions have
different ways of teachings their followers and the teachings are slightly worded differently, so this is
where many people fall into the trap by thinking that the meanings from the two scriptures are
different and unique. Morality is the principles concerning the distinction between right and

Federal Budget Deficit Analysis
Federal Budget Deficit Projected to Soar to Over $1 Trillion in 2020 The annual budget for the
Federal Government is predicted to increase over the next few years. In fact, it s supposed to surpass
$1 trillion dollars in 2020, even though the economy is growing at a healthy rate, the Congressional
Budget Office says. The national debt has gone beyond $21 million and even goes from there to past
$33 trillion in 2028. By then, the public s debt will almost match the size of the economy. It ll be at
96% which is higher than post World War to and past the crisis point. Some economists think that
increasing deficits will bring interest rates up, expand private sector s borrowing costs, and prices of
tank stock. All this will decrease the growth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A deficit in economics is when there is a surplus over expenditures in a certain time period. Here in
the article, the government spent more than what the budget allowed. The government controls
government spending and doesn t affect investments and consumption. Social insurance programs are
talked about in the article. These are programs from the government (transfer payments) meant to
protect families for economic hardships. Examples of these transfer payments mentioned in the article
are medicare and social security. This relates to fiscal policy and government transfers because it is a
government transfer. Fiscal policy is also the use of taxes, government transfers or purchases made by
the government that shift the aggregate demand curve. Expansionary fiscal policy increases aggregate
demand and the factors that contribute are a tax cut, increase in government transfers and an increase
in purchases in goods and services by the government. We see those factors throughout the article as it
talks about growing deficits because of the Social Security and Medicare. Expansionary policy is
incorporated into the article when the budget office discusses the prediction of high interest rates so
Americans will purchase more

Klamath Basin Reclamation Essay
Basin History and Reclamation The Klamath Project is truly an impressive feat of engineering and
representative of the might of American problem solving. It consists of 5 dams, 29 pumping stations,
120 miles of canals, 477 miles of laterals, and 644 miles of drains to feed the water demands of the
Klamath Irrigation Project(see figure one) (Foster 2008). Construction of the Klamath Basin
Reclamation project began in 1906 and Lower Klamath Wildlife Refuge was created through the
combined efforts of William Finley and waterfowl hunters in 1908(Kittredge Blake and Blake 2000).
Ira Gabrielson, the first director of the Fish and Wildlife Service, described the Tule Lake Wildlife
Refuge a biological wonderland the sump was over 80,000 acres of shallow marsh, fed by overflow

The role of the Lower Klamath Wildlife Refuge as a bird oasis among disappearing wetlands was
short lived. The combined efforts of the Klamath Water Users Association and the Bureau of
Reclamation resulted in Klamath Lake being cut off from its main water source by the construction of
the South Pacific Railroad dike(Most 2006;Foster 2008). In 1922 all that remained of Lower Klamath
Lake was a 365 acre pond. However because farmer s fields were sometimes flooded by Tule Lake,
which overpowered the dikes built to restrain it, the Bureau of Reclamation built a 6,000 foot tunnel to
pump excess water from Tule Lake to Lower Klamath Lake. The pipe aided in abetting the
environmental problems experienced in Lower Klamath and Tule Lakes, though they have never been
fully refilled (Most 2006). As a result of this hydrological engineering, Lower Klamath NWR is nearly
entirely dry during drought years, while Tule Lake becomes overcrowded with birds

The Complexity of the Kidney

Prof Lisa Nelson
The Complexity of the Kidney
Kidneys are complex organs that are very important when it comes to the many functions to help
maintain the health of the body. This includes the maturation of the red blood cells, regulation of
blood pressure as well as secretion of hormones. The Secondary functions of the filtration effect the
controlling of the acid base balance in the body, and maintaining bone health (livingstrong.com).
Kidney structure include the renal corpuscle that filters the blood, passing of urine, and different
tubules (comprised of a dowman s capsule and glomerulus). The renal corpuscle are made of ... Show

In addition the nephron is divided into several segments. The Henie cell includes a special transporter
called sodium potassium 2, chloride contransporter (nkcc) that allows the kidney to produce urine
(biology.com). The distal tubule cell help contain thiazide sensitive sodium filtered by the kidney on a
daily basis, and the collecting duct that have two cells responsible for acid base hemostasis. The alpha
intercalated cell controls the excess of secretion and reabsorbing base (form of bicarbonates) and the
beta intercalated cell which includes the same function (biology.com). Every day the kidney s filter on
an average of about 120 to 150 quarts of blood that produces 1 to 2 quarts of urine that has extra fluid
and waste. The importance of the kidney is to keep the blood stable so the body can function properly.
The fluids that are removed from the body help prevent blood cells and large molecules (proteins)
from passing. Once filtered it can pass through the tubule that sends minerals back into the blood
stream to remove waste (niddk.nih.gov). If the kidney functions properly it regulates the retention of
fluids in the body. It balances the chemicals like potassium for the heart and muscle function. It can
also maintain acid balance and proteins. Hormones in the kidney stimulate activity in the body, renin
erythropoietin, and a form of vitamin D. Renin helps to control blood pressure. The kidney also
releases the erythropoietin to help

Hamlet Strengths And Weaknesses
Strength is essential to overcome obstacles, however people in similar circumstances may have
disparate decisions, leading to various outcomes and consequences. In spite of all challenges,
discouragements and impossibilities; strength distinguishes a strong soul from a weak one. Through
the literatures of William Shakespeare, Miriam Toews and Lawrence Hill, it is evident that ethics and
morality play an important role in affecting decisions of the main characters. Assuredly, Hamlet,
Naomi and Aminata, participate in situations where their courage is tested to its fullest, impacting their
fate; for the better and for the worse. Despite bearing cultural and periodic differences, Hamlet by
William Shakespeare, A Complicated Kindness by Miriam Toews and The Book of Negroes by
Lawrence Hill all demonstrate judgements that enrich and destroy the lives of the protagonists and of
those around them. Firstly, Hamlet in Hamlet shows dreadful judgement by consuming himself in
revengeance, resulting in his own downfall. Hamlet becomes obsessed with avenging his uncle, King
Claudius for murdering his father, King Hamlet. As a result of this, corruption takes hold of Hamlet s
life, in which it becomes full of hatred, reprisal and bloodlust. Hamlet questions himself of which act
is more noble. Is it more noble to suffer from the wrong deeds that one has done onto another or if it is
more noble to end the suffering by fighting? In this soliloquy, it is clear that Hamlet is torn between

Film Analysis Of Stanley Kubrick s A Clockwork Orange
Stanley Kubrick has returned after his 1971 s controversial success A Clockwork Orange with his
tonally different 1975 feature, Barry Lyndon. His last feature was a movie that was ultra violent and
about a totalitarianism society. This movie is different by a wide margin. It has more of a historical
value because it takes place in England during the Seven Years War and we get a sense of English
society at the time. It is also based off the works of famed nineteenth century writer William
Makepeace Thackeray. This film also has a lovely atmospheric air to it. Kubrick, as usual, masterfully
write this feature. You could tell that this is his pet project. However, the movie does clock in at over
three hours and with the lack of action, there can be a dull moment or two to be had. After all, I feel
the aristocratic world can get somewhat boring at times. That being said, we have Kubrick on the top
of his game as he created a valued historical narrative that remains mostly interesting and our eyes are
able to feast on perfect costuming and successful camera experimenting. Essentially, Kubrick and
cinematographer John Alcott shot the film without the use of electrical light, and that is why the look
of the film seemed a bit odd compared to other films. Narratively, I felt the first hour of the film was
the strongest. I found the last two hours enjoyable, but it would be very hard to top the perfect
narrative of the first hour. During theS 1700 s in Ireland, Redmond Barry (Ryan

Qualitative Quantitative Research Methods

Qualitative amp; Quantitative Research Methods
There are two types of research methods: qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative research methods
are complex meaningful analyses characterized by processes and meanings that are not measured in
terms of mathematical measurements. Quantitative research however, relies and builds on
mathematical procedures and methods, such as frequency, quality, amount and statistical procedure.
There are unique characteristics which distinguish one research process from the other.
Purpose
The purpose of research is to answer questions by using a predefined set of procedures (Mack,
Woodsong, MacQueen, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because the data obtained by qualitative and quantitative research methods are different, they must be
evaluated differently also.
In order to ensure the quality and establish the trustworthiness of qualitative data, researchers may call
upon their peers to evaluate the narrative in order to determine if there are inconsistencies,
contradictions, or other instances of researcher bias (researcher proving only that which they choose or
anticipate)(Smith amp; Davis, 2010). Additionally, qualitative researchers also indicate the procedures
they used to validate data. This process is called confirmability. In addition to confirmability,
qualitative researchers are also concerned with credibility. Credibility refers to the accuracy of the
study. Because qualitative research is social or human in nature, it is best to allow the subjects of the
study determine accuracy. However, quantitative data is evaluated in a different manner.
In order to ensure that quantitative data is obtained from an acceptable instrument, it is necessary to
determine the validity and reliability of the instrument being used. It is important to minimize
subjectivity in quantitative research. The researcher must ensure that the surveys, questionnaires, and
tests, used are not open for interpretation or the results may be skewed. Researchers can verify the
usefulness of an instrument through validity and reliability. Validity refers to the extent to

Steps Principles Into Account, Our Investment
Taking these guiding principles into account, our investment framework for Buy and Maintain is built
on the following five key rules: 1. Avoid using public benchmarks for beta management
2. Use asset liability management to guide asset allocation decisions 3. Focus on independent credit
analysis when building portfolios and buying securities
4. Ensure fundamental credit views drive sell decisions
5. Measure performance based on initial portfolio economics and credit migration
1. Avoid using public benchmarks for beta management Buy and Maintain strategies will perform
well, provided investors have exposure to the correct assets. However, many Buy and
Maintain portfolios do not have an optimal asset mix because insurers tend to focus on public
benchmark weightings when constructing portfolios. Public benchmarks have at least four major
disadvantages when it comes to constructing Buy and
Maintain portfolios:
Duration mismatch
A typical portfolio based on a public benchmark tends to hold duration within a narrow band closely
linked to the duration of the benchmark itself. This gives the fund manager very little flexibility to
manage the duration of a Buy and Maintain portfolio so that it matches an investor s individual cash
flow profile.
The duration mismatch between the benchmark and, in the case of the insurance investor, the
liabilities, can be a magnitude of 10 or more years (see Exhibit 2).
Concentration risk
Because public benchmarks tend to be market capitalization

Ratification Of The Emancipation Proclamation
In 1862, Abraham Lincoln formally recognized that he needed a clever tactic to address the institution
of slavery without either side thinking that he was favoring one nation over the other. Lincoln knew
that he needed to have a moderate strategy because a more aggressive policy would alienate Border
State Unionists and War Democrats whose support he saw as essential to the Union war effort,
according one a class reading. However, after trying to negotiate with the Confederacy over the course
of several months, the president s only way to combat the division was to draft the Emancipation
Proclamation. The events leading up to the ratification and enforcement of the Proclamation prove that
freeing the slaves was a long, arduous process that affected both sides (the Union and the
Confederacy) in several ways over the following years of the war. The most prominent effect of
Lincoln passing the Emancipation Proclamation was that it made the war about slavery. Though there
was much controversy in the first few months over what actually caused the Civil War, ratifying and
issuing the final Proclamation officially shifted the focus from states right and the reach of the federal
government to the race struggle between the white and the enslaved. Almost instantly, the
Emancipation Proclamation created a deeper divide between the Union and the Confederacy. The
Confederates assumed that this was Lincoln s original war aim and attacked him with constant
criticism and disapproval.

Does the way we consume caffeine determine our social standing? Java Man by Malcolm Gladwell is
an essay describing caffeine s effects, social standing, and acceptance by society throughout time.
Malcolm Gladwell recounts how caffeine appeals to different classes when used in different beverages

many to get them going in the morning and socialization with others. Malcolm Gladwell gives

A Medical And Moral Look At Ectopic Pregnancy Essays
The complexity of the human reproductive system is unbelievable baffling. The fact that the egg even
leaves the protection of the ovary and starts its journey down the fallopian tube is remarkable. The
process by which the sperm manage to scurry their way to meet the egg through the hostile
environment of a woman s body isanother great accomplishment of the human body. The fact that, in
the majority of cases, the egg and sperm meet, join, and find their way into the uterus and set up the
beginning of a new little life is one of the most perplexing facts of medical science. The treacherous
path is sometimes uncompleted, however. When this is the case the parents are face with one of the

Testing and diagnosing an ectopic pregnancy is actually difficult, because an answer to the problem is
not always clear cut, nor is it always available right away. The hCG levels in the woman s body may
be tested to check the rate of increase in them over the pregnancy. They normally double about every
two days in anormal pregnancy. But this alone is not a conclusive indicator of an ectopic pregnancy.
An ultrasound is frequently used, along with vaginal ultrasound to try to visualize the pregnancy and
the position of the baby. If a uterine (normal) pregnancy is confirmed then the chance of an ectopic
pregnancy is extremely rare. Sometimes it is too early to diagnose an ectopic via ultrasound, and the
exam has to be repeated. If the ectopic pregnancy is visualized, on the other hand, then the couple will
proceed to treatment options available depending on their situation.
Sometimes in urgent situations a laparoscopy procedure will be done to provide both the diagnosis and
the treatment. This is done in an operating room as a surgery. If the patient does have an ectopic, the
procedure is surgically treated at that time.
The two main types of treatment are chemical and surgical. Chemical treatment is done with a drug
called methotrexate. It is used to literally dissolve the pregnancy in non urgent

now. One thing is for sure, if you keep the vehicle long enough it will cost you more to maintain it. On
some vehicles this includes replacing the timing belt at a certain mileage. On other vehicles it s
replacing all the extended life fluids. Another thing to consider is spark plug replacement on some
automobiles became extremely difficult and therefore expensive. The face of regular maintenance has

Timing Belt Preventative Maintenance
When people are buying a new or used car they usually don t inquire about the timing belt situation.

pedophiles to pursue their interests and fixations with young children. It enables them to locate and

First, they review online profiles until they locate someone who fits their agenda. After locating an

Online predators often seduce their targets through the use of fondness and compassion. Once they

2006). Unfortunately, online predators are usually looking for sex or arousal. In worst cases, however,
meeting with these predators can all too often be fatal for young children. For this reason, a solution
needs to be taken into action to decrease the risk of exposing these young children to online predators.
However, many feel that the only way to reduce the risk of internet pedophiles is to develop an
identity verification tool for social networking web sites. Unfortunately, a new study concludes that
the threat facing children online is no worse than it is in the real world. Age verification technologies

children is through proper education and awareness. By informing parents, educators, and teenagers of
online predators, the number of sexual crimes against young children online can be greatly reduced.
As a result, the community needs to inform the younger generation about the proper precautions that

Indus River Valley Vs Mesopotamia Research Paper
Both the Indus River Valley civilization and Mesopotamia existed in the time period of 2000 1200
BCE. The two civilizations had economies that had been agriculturally based, and in the civilizations
both had polytheistic societies. On the other hand there were differences politically; Mesopotamia had
consisted if city states, while the Indus River Valley was centralized. Although there are similarities in
their economics, politics, and culture, was found in their life, these civilizations have enough
differences between each other that dignify them into two separate civilizations. One major difference
politically with the Mesopotamia and Indus River Valley societies had been the governments
.Mesopotamia s government was a combination of democracy and monarchy Kings had ruled the

Mesopotamia and the Indus River Valley had similar strategies for trading that led them to success.
Both economies had been based of trade and agriculture. These two civilizations had traded with each

The controversy surrounding calling E sports a sport is met with intense arguments from all
spectrums: gamers and non gamers will both argue for or against granting E sports the title of sport.
However, regardless of the positive or the negative arguments, E sports is both incredibly popular and

Symbols In The Dreamers
The Dreamers is a film by Berrnardo Bertolucci, loosely translated from The Holy Innocents, a novel
by Gilbert Adair, meaning that youth, naivety, and innocence could all be synonymous with a bleeding
heart liberal waiting to be heartbroken by the harsh realities of life. Matthew is an American cinephile
studying French in Paris where he meets Isabelle and Theo, twin cinephiles that are archetypal French
citizens in 1968. When the viewer meets Isabelle, she is depicted with a beret, a cigarette with a
holder, chained to the cinematheque, which the narrator/viewer s surrogate says, only the French
would put a cinema in a palace. When the viewer meets Theo, he is dressed in a black turtleneck and
suede blazer. How French. In Spring 68, France was going through yet another revolution. The
Communist and Socialist Parties band together to stop the reign of capitalism and de Gaulle. This film
guides the viewer through the frivolous escapades of an eccentric trio during a time of hostility. Using
characterization, dialogue, and mise en scene, the film depicts leftist ideologies and their tainted
branches during the 1968 French revolution through the corruption of one of the unorthodox twins,
Isabelle. Isabelle is the epitome of tabula rasa; meaning that she is whatever the person she is trying to
please would like her to be. She is an actor playing a part in her specified director s piece; she is clay
awaiting to be molded; and she is the vessel that takes the viewer through the plotline. Her identity, or
lack of, is evident through the mise en scene of her room. The pastel pinks and beiges adorning her
walls paired with the teddy bears on her bed and the orderly, conservative way her bed is made is so
blatantly juvenile. Isabelle is a cinephile, she sees the images on screen and longs to become those
images, yet in her room there is no evidence of her cinephilia. There are medical instruments, ice
skates, and everything is so clean. Towards the beginning of the film, Isabelle addresses Matthew s
cleanliness, to which she implies that those who love cinema are less likely to be clean. Yet Isabelle s
room is the cleanest in the home. The medical instruments are evidence that Isabelle is

A Nursing Perspective
Nurses are expected to provide care for their patients in their most vulnerable state of illness by giving
them medications, changing dressings, taking vitals and providing them with preventive education.
Yet it is emotionally, physically and spiritually demanding for the nurse to provide patients with
palliative care at their end of life state. As a result, it is important for researchers to investigate and
gather data emphasizing the importance of providing palliative care to patients from a nursing
perspective. In this paper, we will be analyzing the research article titled Living with Dying in the
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit: A Nursing Perspective by Debbie Stayer and Joan Such Lockhart. The
analysis and understanding of the article will consist in describing six critical components which are

Self Destruction Of Cocaine Essay
self destruction
By kevin j. pillard
With $85 billion in the worldwide sales, and 21 million users, cocaine is still one of the top drugs of
choice for many Americans. Even though the US market has fallen from the 1980 s crazy, $134 billion
in market sales, to the lowly $35 billion in sales in 2008, Americas thrust for THAT COCA is still a
major issue for the communities and societies as a whole, in 2015. In this paper, I am going to take
you on my journey and experiences with the cocaine epidemic of the 80 s, 90 s, and all the way to the
year 2015.
I think it s best to start with one of the thousands, of City, County, State, and Federal agencies, that as
of today will be spending $23 billion this year to fight the war on drugs.(MAP INC.) The DEA which
has a budget of 2.88 billion in 2015, is the one agency that only focuses on illegal federal drug laws,
which are the harshest in the country.

Lorenzo And Santa Maria Novella Comparison
A comparison between the structure of San Lorenzo and Santa Maria Novella discloses the same style
of High Classical age of fifth century Greece that Alberti and Brunelleschi both aimed to achieve. In
Santa Maria Novella, Alberti introduced Classical features around the portico with Classical
proportions. Moreover, elements such as pilasters, cornices and a pediment in the Classical style were
used instead of sculptures. In regards to the façade designed by Alberti, the incorporation of two large
scrolls to bridge the different levels of the central nave to the lower side aisles was another feature of
Church facades in late Renaissance, Baroque and Classical Revival architecture.
Comparably, in the Old Sacristy of San Lorenzo designed by Brunelleschi, ... Show more content on

As shown in diagram one, the vast interior of Santa Maria Novella is divided into a nave, a short
transept and two aisles. The plan of San Lorenzo (diagram two), inspired by classical art, on the other
hand consists of three naves and a conceptualization of modules of aisles. Both plans are spatially
longitudinal with a singular emphasized large nave to convey austerity. Moreover, the exposure of the
full length floor when one enters San Lorenzo produces a visual highlight of centralization in the area
of the transept, of which the central dome meets the corners of a square. This combination of curve
and square is Brunelleschi s rational perception of geometric relationships an important contrast to
Gothic architecture, where cathedrals were intended to awe and mystify the viewer with the
flamboyant beauty of the sacred. The Renaissance church, in contrast, desires to communicate the idea
that math and science were paths to the sacred, as echoed by Alberti in his treatise, Della Pittura, the
harmony of all parts in relation to one another and that this concord is realized in a particular number,
proportion and arrangement demanded by harmony.

Analysis of an Affair in Anton Chekhov´s The Lady with the...
Anna and Dmitri are two people with a strong desire to be together, but this is conflicted by reality.
Their reality is that they are married to other people. The love that they share for one another
represents the struggle that one may face wanting to break away from reality. Dmitri was a man who
had been unfaithful to his wife quite often. Her imperfections seemed to be his only reasoning for this.
Dmitri was most likely only in Yalta to look for a new woman to have an affair with. Considering this,
being with Anna didn t bother him. He was introduced in the story as a rather selfish man who seemed
to just have his way with Anna. He referred to women as an inferior race , due to his past experience.
Anna, on the other hand, was new to the idea of being unfaithful to her husband. This scared her so
even though she knew that she loved Dmitri, she convinced herself that it was not real love that they
shared. Throughout the story, both Anna and Dmitri changed the way they felt about their lives. Dmitri
seemed to have had a very superficial relationship with his wife, and this made him appreciate his
relationship with Anna even more. Once he spots her, the scenery in the story begins to shape. It is full
of beautiful colors and light. The more exciting his life became in Yalta with Anna, the more dull and
uninteresting his life back home became. His thoughts portray to the reader that he believes Anna is
the perfect contender for an affair. The author of the story, Chekov,

School Prayer In School
Thesis: The removal of school prayer was a bad thing for students morals. Prayer sets a standard for
the students. Allowing prayer in school may improve a lot of things about the students at school. The
behavior of students would change dramatically kids would not be mean to other students. Prayer is a
action which proclaims that life is more than just saving an environment or accumulating wealth
(Hovis 1). People might think that God is evil, our experiments with replacing affirmation of
humanism has been a dismal failure. The only thing of evil is for good men to do nothing. Removing
the school prayer sends a message to our children, when we allow laws to be passed which limit the
free expression. The Federal and Supreme Court judges should be impeached who undermines the
freedom which this country was founded. The situation has become so absurd that that congressional
prayer cannot be voluntarily read in school buildings. The removal of school prayer was a bad thing
for students morals. Mortality declines without prayer, prayer can shape a good citizen. With prayer
students have something to gain, they can be more helpful with others and the peers around them.
Since prayer was removed from school the violence has increased and grade have dropped. SAT s
have dropped drastically. More kids have been birth out of wedlock. Increased in drug used and
increased in juvenile crimes. Deterioration of school behavior also. People also have a choice to be

Downtown Massillon
On October 14 I attended a New Wave concert in Downtown Massillon. This concert was actually
apart of a larger event called the Massillon Zombie Walk which is held once a year. Most everyone
dressed as a zombie. There was even a man who dressed as a Soviet spy zombie who made my night.
He walked down the sidewalk with an accordion, a hammer and sickle pin, and a giant fur hat. Other
zombies swarmed around him as I realized that I m pretty lucky to live in an area that treasures local
gatherings and celebrations.
The night began with a Thriller performance in front of the Massillon public library. About 20 or so
people performed the iconic dance as Michael Jackson s audio was played. The people who performed
managed to do a really good job recreating the dance moves we all know so well and they looked like
they had fun. The party moved down to the street beside the Massillon Museum where the stage was

lead singer of this band could not match MJ s awesome chops. It was cringe. All the high notes
sounded fuzzy and strained. The tempo seemed too slow. There was a tv screen behind them that
actually played the music video which managed to make their dancers incompetent. Weird sound
effects were added to the end of phrases and instruments were played along with the original audio.

The Ban of Tobacco Advertising in India
On February 6, 2001, Government Of India (GOI) announces a bill about banning Tobacco companies
from advertising their product and sponsoring sport and cultural events. The bill mission is to reduce
consumption of tobacco products. This paper is based on information provided by the case study and
is divided into four section. The first section summarizes arguments in favor of the ban on tobacco
advertising in India. The second section summarizes arguments in opposition of the ban on tobacco
advertising in Indian. The third sections discuss the conflict of interest issue as it pertains to
government in India. And the last section offers some suggestion on what government should do in
regards to tobacco advertising.
Favor in the ban of tobacco Advertising
Some advocates argue that these ban is the same as government effort to meddle their citizen private
lives, but other argue that government did have right to intervene in the overall interest of their citizen.
There are many countries in the world that already did similar bans. In 1991, French constitutional
council declared that French government ban on tobacco is not based on nothing. As this ban is
needed to protect their citizen health.
Many fears that tobacco advertisements will influence children and young adult to smoke. It is
become concern, especially since it is noted that future cigarette business lay on the age 14 24 years

Sealcoating Research Paper
How Sealcoating Protects Your Asphalt Driveway
If you want to maintain the rich color and smooth surface of your asphalt driveway, then you should
have a sealcoat applied to it regularly over its lifespan. A sealcoat is a protective layer that keeps the
asphalt from degrading, fading, and cracking. Here s what you should know about sealcoating.
Why Asphalt Deteriorates
Your asphalt driveway will last a long time, but it will probably start to show signs of wear in a couple
of years if you don t have sealcoating applied. That s because asphalt is susecptble to damage from
freezing temperatures, rain, and UV rays. Oil and gas leaks can also cause a chemical reaction with
asphalt that causes it to weaken. Also, if you park a heavy truck or ... Show more content on

It keeps gas and oil from coming into direct contact with the asphalt. It also seals the asphalt so rain
can t seep into it, freeze, expand, and create potholes. Sealcoating also keeps the surface of your
driveway a fresh, dark color so it is more attractive. It s important to remember that your driveway is
much more than a layer of asphalt. The asphalt is just the top part of bed of compacted dirt and
aggregate.
The purpose of asphalt is to bind the aggregate together and keep it from washing away in the rain. It
has an elastic quality that allows it to expand and contract with the weather. This places a lot of stress
on the asphalt layer of your driveway, and the sealcoat offers some relief from this stress. By
protecting the asphalt layer, the sealcoat helps prolong the life of your driveway.
How Sealcoating Is Applied
A contractor can apply sealcoating with a spray canister so it goes on like spray paint. He or she could
also apply it by hand and smooth it out with a squeegee. It doesn t take long to apply the sealcoat, but
it does take a while to prep your driveway first. The asphalt must be clean and dry so the sealcoat will
adhere properly. Also, all cracks must be filled and leveled out so they won t show through once the
sealcoating is applied. Once the job is done, you may have to wait a day or two before you can use
your driveway, it all depends on the weather conditions and how quickly

  • 3. Changes in Policy after School Shootings Policies have changed since the shooting happened in Littleton, Colorado. Before Columbine the primary goal of law enforcement officers before and during a shooting was to set up a perimeter and await arrival of SWAT members (Erickson, 2001). This policy has changed in many states including Pennsylvania where police had been preparing for active shooters with local schools. Police are not able to wait the twenty minutes to an hour for SWAT to arrive at a scene which is why the state mandated that local police receive active shooting training (Coughlin, 2012). This response and a brochure that the Department of Homeland Security came out with are allowing schools a better chance of eliminating a shooter with less causalities and injuries. This brochure goes into to profile of an active shooter, how to respond to an active shooter, how to respond when law enforcement arrives, training staff for an active shooter, preparing for and managing an active shooter situation, recognizing workplace violence, managing the consequences of an active shooter, and lessons learned (DHS, 2008). Recommendations were made following the shooting to implement a command center with personnel able to take command at the beginning of a crisis, control assembled personnel, and to communicate objectives clearly (Erickson, 2001). This came after the failure of law enforcement to set up a successful command center whereas Fire and EMS successfully instituted an incident command center based on ... • 5. A Brief Note On The Aviation Safety Agency With ICAO s leading, aviation safety has been developed internationally. As mentioned before, FAA and ICAO worked together to provide safer operations in the airports globally. ICAO published their Safety Management Manual(SMM) for providing acceptable safety performance throughout the world. Civil aviation authorities get benefit out of these manuals and shared data. SMS requirements provided by ICAO paved a path for every aviation organization to develop safety policies and safety procedures. In February 2009 European Aviation Safety Agency(EASA) met with FAA, ICAO and Transport Canada Civil Aviation(TCCA). The meeting was set to spread SMS throughout Europe and America. Participants agreed on sharing SMS knowledge and established Safety Management International Collaboration Group(SM ICG). SM ICG was set to meet semiannually and also with teleconferences to develop SMS with projects and research groups. Each organization works voluntarily for collaboration and affiliation to spread SMS knowledge all over the world. During establishment of SM ICG, it is agreed that there would be interference with stakeholders in the aviation industry. It is also agreed that CAST and ECAST which is European Commercial Aviation Safety Team would work collaboratively for more reliable data sharing. The current core membership of the SM ICG includes the Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) of Spain, the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) of Brazil, the Civil Aviation Authority of ... • 6. A Comparsion of the Bhagavad Gita vs The Gospels Essay Coming from a western culture, it is easy to familiarize with the Gospels over any other written text. In order to get a different perspective on the outlook of life, it is better to compare the Gospels to another written text. A text that is an excellent candidate to stand up next to the Gospels is the Bhagavad Gita (or just the Gita). These two texts can depict similarities and differences between the two cultures presented: Christianity and Hinduism. Keeping an open mind when reading cultural texts is what makes the texts more interesting and informs the reader more clearly. The analysis between one western text and one non western text can really widen the perspective of one person. Due to the fact that Krishna from the Gita seems to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the messages is to basically love God more than anything and put him before everything. The verse of Matthew 22:37 states that: Thou shalt love The Lord Thy God with all Thy heart, with all Thy soul, and with all Thy might. Likewise, the Gita says, Keep your mind on me, be my devotee, sacrificing, bow to me you will come to me, I promise, for you are dear to me (Gita 155). Clearly the meanings behind both these quotes are the same but just worded differently. Krishna and Jesus constantly emphasize certain aspects that are similar to the other person s teaching. This goes to show that even though Hinduism and Christianity are two separate cultures with two different scriptural texts and two different religions, the idea and meaning behind both of these religions are closely related. No matter how different the two religions may appear to be, the meaning behind their scriptures is what really defies their religion. Just because the two religions believe in different deities doesn t mean that the deities aren t teaching the exact same thing. It s just that the two religions have different ways of teachings their followers and the teachings are slightly worded differently, so this is where many people fall into the trap by thinking that the meanings from the two scriptures are different and unique. Morality is the principles concerning the distinction between right and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Federal Budget Deficit Analysis Federal Budget Deficit Projected to Soar to Over $1 Trillion in 2020 The annual budget for the Federal Government is predicted to increase over the next few years. In fact, it s supposed to surpass $1 trillion dollars in 2020, even though the economy is growing at a healthy rate, the Congressional Budget Office says. The national debt has gone beyond $21 million and even goes from there to past $33 trillion in 2028. By then, the public s debt will almost match the size of the economy. It ll be at 96% which is higher than post World War to and past the crisis point. Some economists think that increasing deficits will bring interest rates up, expand private sector s borrowing costs, and prices of tank stock. All this will decrease the growth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A deficit in economics is when there is a surplus over expenditures in a certain time period. Here in the article, the government spent more than what the budget allowed. The government controls government spending and doesn t affect investments and consumption. Social insurance programs are talked about in the article. These are programs from the government (transfer payments) meant to protect families for economic hardships. Examples of these transfer payments mentioned in the article are medicare and social security. This relates to fiscal policy and government transfers because it is a government transfer. Fiscal policy is also the use of taxes, government transfers or purchases made by the government that shift the aggregate demand curve. Expansionary fiscal policy increases aggregate demand and the factors that contribute are a tax cut, increase in government transfers and an increase in purchases in goods and services by the government. We see those factors throughout the article as it talks about growing deficits because of the Social Security and Medicare. Expansionary policy is incorporated into the article when the budget office discusses the prediction of high interest rates so Americans will purchase more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Klamath Basin Reclamation Essay Basin History and Reclamation The Klamath Project is truly an impressive feat of engineering and representative of the might of American problem solving. It consists of 5 dams, 29 pumping stations, 120 miles of canals, 477 miles of laterals, and 644 miles of drains to feed the water demands of the Klamath Irrigation Project(see figure one) (Foster 2008). Construction of the Klamath Basin Reclamation project began in 1906 and Lower Klamath Wildlife Refuge was created through the combined efforts of William Finley and waterfowl hunters in 1908(Kittredge Blake and Blake 2000). Ira Gabrielson, the first director of the Fish and Wildlife Service, described the Tule Lake Wildlife Refuge a biological wonderland the sump was over 80,000 acres of shallow marsh, fed by overflow from the Klamath River and a few small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The role of the Lower Klamath Wildlife Refuge as a bird oasis among disappearing wetlands was short lived. The combined efforts of the Klamath Water Users Association and the Bureau of Reclamation resulted in Klamath Lake being cut off from its main water source by the construction of the South Pacific Railroad dike(Most 2006;Foster 2008). In 1922 all that remained of Lower Klamath Lake was a 365 acre pond. However because farmer s fields were sometimes flooded by Tule Lake, which overpowered the dikes built to restrain it, the Bureau of Reclamation built a 6,000 foot tunnel to pump excess water from Tule Lake to Lower Klamath Lake. The pipe aided in abetting the environmental problems experienced in Lower Klamath and Tule Lakes, though they have never been fully refilled (Most 2006). As a result of this hydrological engineering, Lower Klamath NWR is nearly entirely dry during drought years, while Tule Lake becomes overcrowded with birds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The alpha intercalated cell controls the excess of secretion and reabsorbing base (form of bicarbonates) and the beta intercalated cell which includes the same function (biology.com). Every day the kidney s filter on an average of about 120 to 150 quarts of blood that produces 1 to 2 quarts of urine that has extra fluid and waste. The importance of the kidney is to keep the blood stable so the body can function properly. The fluids that are removed from the body help prevent blood cells and large molecules (proteins) from passing. Once filtered it can pass through the tubule that sends minerals back into the blood stream to remove waste (niddk.nih.gov). If the kidney functions properly it regulates the retention of fluids in the body. It balances the chemicals like potassium for the heart and muscle function. It can also maintain acid balance and proteins. Hormones in the kidney stimulate activity in the body, renin erythropoietin, and a form of vitamin D. Renin helps to control blood pressure. • 10. Hamlet Strengths And Weaknesses Strength is essential to overcome obstacles, however people in similar circumstances may have disparate decisions, leading to various outcomes and consequences. In spite of all challenges, discouragements and impossibilities; strength distinguishes a strong soul from a weak one. Through the literatures of William Shakespeare, Miriam Toews and Lawrence Hill, it is evident that ethics and morality play an important role in affecting decisions of the main characters. Assuredly, Hamlet, Naomi and Aminata, participate in situations where their courage is tested to its fullest, impacting their fate; for the better and for the worse. Despite bearing cultural and periodic differences, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, A Complicated Kindness by Miriam Toews and The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill all demonstrate judgements that enrich and destroy the lives of the protagonists and of those around them. Firstly, Hamlet in Hamlet shows dreadful judgement by consuming himself in revengeance, resulting in his own downfall. Hamlet becomes obsessed with avenging his uncle, King Claudius for murdering his father, King Hamlet. As a result of this, corruption takes hold of Hamlet s life, in which it becomes full of hatred, reprisal and bloodlust. Hamlet questions himself of which act is more noble. Is it more noble to suffer from the wrong deeds that one has done onto another or if it is more noble to end the suffering by fighting? In this soliloquy, it is clear that Hamlet is torn between ... • 12. Film Analysis Of Stanley Kubrick s A Clockwork Orange Stanley Kubrick has returned after his 1971 s controversial success A Clockwork Orange with his tonally different 1975 feature, Barry Lyndon. His last feature was a movie that was ultra violent and about a totalitarianism society. This movie is different by a wide margin. It has more of a historical value because it takes place in England during the Seven Years War and we get a sense of English society at the time. It is also based off the works of famed nineteenth century writer William Makepeace Thackeray. This film also has a lovely atmospheric air to it. Kubrick, as usual, masterfully write this feature. You could tell that this is his pet project. However, the movie does clock in at over three hours and with the lack of action, there can be a dull moment or two to be had. After all, I feel the aristocratic world can get somewhat boring at times. That being said, we have Kubrick on the top of his game as he created a valued historical narrative that remains mostly interesting and our eyes are able to feast on perfect costuming and successful camera experimenting. Essentially, Kubrick and cinematographer John Alcott shot the film without the use of electrical light, and that is why the look of the film seemed a bit odd compared to other films. Narratively, I felt the first hour of the film was the strongest. I found the last two hours enjoyable, but it would be very hard to top the perfect narrative of the first hour. Qualitative Quantitative Research Methods Qualitative amp; Quantitative Research Methods PSY 326 Dr. Willow Aureala March 29, 2011 Qualitative amp; Quantitative Research Methods There are two types of research methods: qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative research methods are complex meaningful analyses characterized by processes and meanings that are not measured in terms of mathematical measurements. Quantitative research however, relies and builds on mathematical procedures and methods, such as frequency, quality, amount and statistical procedure. There are unique characteristics which distinguish one research process from the other. Because the data obtained by qualitative and quantitative research methods are different, they must be evaluated differently also. In order to ensure the quality and establish the trustworthiness of qualitative data, researchers may call upon their peers to evaluate the narrative in order to determine if there are inconsistencies, contradictions, or other instances of researcher bias (researcher proving only that which they choose or anticipate)(Smith amp; Davis, 2010). Additionally, qualitative researchers also indicate the procedures they used to validate data. This process is called confirmability. In addition to confirmability, qualitative researchers are also concerned with credibility. Credibility refers to the accuracy of the study. Because qualitative research is social or human in nature, it is best to allow the subjects of the study determine accuracy. However, quantitative data is evaluated in a different manner. In order to ensure that quantitative data is obtained from an acceptable instrument, it is necessary to determine the validity and reliability of the instrument being used. It is important to minimize subjectivity in quantitative research. The researcher must ensure that the surveys, questionnaires, and tests, used are not open for interpretation or the results may be skewed. • 14. Steps Principles Into Account, Our Investment Taking these guiding principles into account, our investment framework for Buy and Maintain is built on the following five key rules: 1. Avoid using public benchmarks for beta management 2. Use asset liability management to guide asset allocation decisions 3. Focus on independent credit analysis when building portfolios and buying securities 4. Ensure fundamental credit views drive sell decisions 5. Measure performance based on initial portfolio economics and credit migration 1. Avoid using public benchmarks for beta management Buy and Maintain strategies will perform well, provided investors have exposure to the correct assets. However, many Buy and Maintain portfolios do not have an optimal asset mix because insurers tend to focus on public benchmark weightings when constructing portfolios. Public benchmarks have at least four major disadvantages when it comes to constructing Buy and Maintain portfolios: Duration mismatch A typical portfolio based on a public benchmark tends to hold duration within a narrow band closely linked to the duration of the benchmark itself. This gives the fund manager very little flexibility to manage the duration of a Buy and Maintain portfolio so that it matches an investor s individual cash flow profile. The duration mismatch between the benchmark and, in the case of the insurance investor, the liabilities, can be a magnitude of 10 or more years (see Exhibit 2). Concentration risk Because public benchmarks tend to be market capitalization ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Ratification Of The Emancipation Proclamation In 1862, Abraham Lincoln formally recognized that he needed a clever tactic to address the institution of slavery without either side thinking that he was favoring one nation over the other. Lincoln knew that he needed to have a moderate strategy because a more aggressive policy would alienate Border State Unionists and War Democrats whose support he saw as essential to the Union war effort, according one a class reading. However, after trying to negotiate with the Confederacy over the course of several months, the president s only way to combat the division was to draft the Emancipation Proclamation. The events leading up to the ratification and enforcement of the Proclamation prove that freeing the slaves was a long, arduous process that affected both sides (the Union and the Confederacy) in several ways over the following years of the war. The most prominent effect of Lincoln passing the Emancipation Proclamation was that it made the war about slavery. Though there was much controversy in the first few months over what actually caused the Civil War, ratifying and issuing the final Proclamation officially shifted the focus from states right and the reach of the federal government to the race struggle between the white and the enslaved. Almost instantly, the Emancipation Proclamation created a deeper divide between the Union and the Confederacy. The Confederates assumed that this was Lincoln s original war aim and attacked him with constant criticism and disapproval. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fact that the egg even leaves the protection of the ovary and starts its journey down the fallopian tube is remarkable. The process by which the sperm manage to scurry their way to meet the egg through the hostile environment of a woman s body isanother great accomplishment of the human body. The fact that, in the majority of cases, the egg and sperm meet, join, and find their way into the uterus and set up the beginning of a new little life is one of the most perplexing facts of medical science. Testing and diagnosing an ectopic pregnancy is actually difficult, because an answer to the problem is not always clear cut, nor is it always available right away. The hCG levels in the woman s body may be tested to check the rate of increase in them over the pregnancy. They normally double about every two days in anormal pregnancy. But this alone is not a conclusive indicator of an ectopic pregnancy. An ultrasound is frequently used, along with vaginal ultrasound to try to visualize the pregnancy and the position of the baby. If a uterine (normal) pregnancy is confirmed then the chance of an ectopic pregnancy is extremely rare. Sometimes it is too early to diagnose an ectopic via ultrasound, and the exam has to be repeated. If the ectopic pregnancy is visualized, on the other hand, then the couple will proceed to treatment options available depending on their situation. Sometimes in urgent situations a laparoscopy procedure will be done to provide both the diagnosis and the treatment. This is done in an operating room as a surgery. If the patient does have an ectopic, the procedure is surgically treated at that time. The two main types of treatment are chemical and surgical. Symbols In The Dreamers The Dreamers is a film by Berrnardo Bertolucci, loosely translated from The Holy Innocents, a novel by Gilbert Adair, meaning that youth, naivety, and innocence could all be synonymous with a bleeding heart liberal waiting to be heartbroken by the harsh realities of life. Matthew is an American cinephile studying French in Paris where he meets Isabelle and Theo, twin cinephiles that are archetypal French citizens in 1968. When the viewer meets Isabelle, she is depicted with a beret, a cigarette with a holder, chained to the cinematheque, which the narrator/viewer s surrogate says, only the French would put a cinema in a palace. When the viewer meets Theo, he is dressed in a black turtleneck and suede blazer. How French. In Spring 68, France was going through yet another revolution. The Communist and Socialist Parties band together to stop the reign of capitalism and de Gaulle. This film guides the viewer through the frivolous escapades of an eccentric trio during a time of hostility. Using characterization, dialogue, and mise en scene, the film depicts leftist ideologies and their tainted branches during the 1968 French revolution through the corruption of one of the unorthodox twins, Isabelle. Isabelle is the epitome of tabula rasa; meaning that she is whatever the person she is trying to please would like her to be. She is an actor playing a part in her specified director s piece; she is clay awaiting to be molded; and she is the vessel that takes the viewer through the plotline. Her identity, or lack of, is evident through the mise en scene of her room. The pastel pinks and beiges adorning her walls paired with the teddy bears on her bed and the orderly, conservative way her bed is made is so blatantly juvenile. Isabelle is a cinephile, she sees the images on screen and longs to become those images, yet in her room there is no evidence of her cinephilia. There are medical instruments, ice skates, and everything is so clean. Moreover, elements such as pilasters, cornices and a pediment in the Classical style were used instead of sculptures. In regards to the façade designed by Alberti, the incorporation of two large scrolls to bridge the different levels of the central nave to the lower side aisles was another feature of Church facades in late Renaissance, Baroque and Classical Revival architecture. Both plans are spatially longitudinal with a singular emphasized large nave to convey austerity. Moreover, the exposure of the full length floor when one enters San Lorenzo produces a visual highlight of centralization in the area of the transept, of which the central dome meets the corners of a square. This combination of curve and square is Brunelleschi s rational perception of geometric relationships an important contrast to Gothic architecture, where cathedrals were intended to awe and mystify the viewer with the flamboyant beauty of the sacred. Their reality is that they are married to other people. The love that they share for one another represents the struggle that one may face wanting to break away from reality. Dmitri was a man who had been unfaithful to his wife quite often. Her imperfections seemed to be his only reasoning for this. Dmitri was most likely only in Yalta to look for a new woman to have an affair with. Considering this, being with Anna didn t bother him. He was introduced in the story as a rather selfish man who seemed to just have his way with Anna. He referred to women as an inferior race , due to his past experience. Anna, on the other hand, was new to the idea of being unfaithful to her husband. This scared her so even though she knew that she loved Dmitri, she convinced herself that it was not real love that they shared. Throughout the story, both Anna and Dmitri changed the way they felt about their lives. Dmitri seemed to have had a very superficial relationship with his wife, and this made him appreciate his relationship with Anna even more. Once he spots her, the scenery in the story begins to shape. It is full of beautiful colors and light.
