Essay On Bad Habits
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Bad Habits" is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor. The
intricacy lies not only in the extensive research required to understand the various dimensions of
this topic but also in the delicate balance needed to present a thoughtful and compelling
argument. Bad habits, by their nature, encompass a wide range of behaviors that individuals
engage in unconsciously or habitually, making the task of dissecting and analyzing them a
nuanced process.
One must navigate through psychological, social, and sometimes even physiological aspects to
offer a comprehensive view. Moreover, addressing the impact of bad habits on personal well-
being and societal dynamics demands a judicious blend of empathy and critical analysis. It's not
merely about pointing fingers but understanding the underlying triggers and motivations that
perpetuate these behaviors.
As a writer, one needs to carefully structure the essay, ensuring a coherent flow of ideas and
maintaining a balance between presenting the gravity of the issue and offering constructive
insights. Delving into real-life examples, scientific studies, and anecdotal evidence can further
enrich the narrative, but it requires a meticulous selection process to ensure relevance and
reliability.
The challenge lies not just in depicting the negative aspects of bad habits but in guiding the
reader towards reflection and potential avenues for positive change. It's about striking a chord
with the audience, prompting them to reassess their own behaviors without inducing guilt or
condemnation.
In essence, writing an essay on bad habits necessitates a blend of research, empathy, and
persuasive skills. It involves navigating a complex terrain, weaving together diverse perspectives
to construct a compelling narrative that not only educates but also inspires introspection.
And as you ponder on the intricacies of such a task, it's worth noting that if the challenge
becomes overwhelming, there are resources available. Assistance with essays, similar to this one,

The Spanish American War Was A Conflict Between Spain
And...
The Spanish American war was a conflict between Spain and America. It ended
Spanish ruling in the Americas and resulted in the expansion of territories in the
Pacific and Latin America for the US. During this period of imperialism, there were
many influences driving the U.S. government. The war started with Cubastruggling to
gain their independence from Spain. However, Spain rejected their notions by
brutally stopping the Cuban rebellion. Newspapers began portraying Spain as
spiteful and the sympathy for the Cuban rebels rose in America. William Randolph
Hearst was responsible for exaggerating the truth in the papers about the fight for
independence from Spain. Hearst invented a term called yellow journalism , which
exploits, distorts, or exaggerates the news to attract readers. A truce was called and
Spain allowed Cuba to have limited power of self government. Nevertheless, the
demand for the US to intervene with the conflict grew and it resulted in the sinking
of the USS Mainein the Havana Harbor in Cuba. The battleship had an explosion
that resulted in 260 sailors dead. The explosion was thought to have been caused
by the Spanish even though it was never proven. This led to the start of the war.
Spain declared war on the US on April 24, 1898. No American favored Cuban
independence like Roosevelt. Teddy Roosevelt was one of the most conspicuous
heroes during the Spanish American war. It is apparent that Teddy favored the Navy.

Dr. Henry
Tiffany,
Good post on defining environmental consciousness, you mentioned scientist and
scholars alike understands and in need of people who put more thought into how
products are manufactured. You gave good examples listed in your paper. You
mentioned it is about having awareness of what an individual is putting in the
environment. I found that prior research indicates that people vary in levels of
environmental consciousness depending on their sociodemographic characteristics
(Ying Chang Chang, 2012). Sociodemographic characteristics pertains to combination
of social demographic factors, can influence and play ... Show more content on

I agree the Internet is a great platform individuals are given to socialize and transfer
information. It has enhanced our environment worldwide. You mentioned a
solider didn t have the accessible resources to connect with he/she family, but in
today s society that option is available for Skype to visually connect over the
internet. I found the internet of things has a major impact in our future of
mankind and on the daily life of the individuals, we are part of a world where
everything has the potential to be connected. As a matter of fact, it is estimated by
garner that by 2020, the installed base for the internet of things will exceed 212
billion and will be over 30 billion of connected things (Hucanu Georgescu, 2016).
The examples of the soldier, gospel, virtually around the world were great
examples that you incorporated in your paper. I agree it s important to protect the
copyright laws. You mentioned individual earning royalty for their music and it s
important to ensure copyright with the music. I found this to be true because
Copyright in a song is different from many other works. Each song holds two
copyrights: a copyright in the sand recording and a copyright in the musical
composition (Conte, 2017). Fischer explains how we should follow rules and it
shows respect. In Matthew 7:12 (ERV) says, Do for others what you would want
them to do for you . As it is so many creative people in the music industry it s
imperative to treat people how you expect to be
Speech About Communication
The people we interact with on a day to day and throughout our lives have a sway
over the path our lives take us down. I have been influenced by friends, family,
neighbors, strangers, classmates, we re even influenced by the people we interact
with on a day to day and those we meet due to a chance encounter. The people we
encounter speak their own language whether it be with their bodies, their speech,
or the archetype they fall into. We speak back and these endless conversations we
re having influence not just our day to day but our quality of life. I am most
literate in friendships the people, I ve chosen to keep company with, they ve
influenced me in many ways for better and worse. I ve succeeded at school because
of a good friend group, I have a nearly failed out of school due to some friendships,
and I am here today on the opposite side of the country from where I grew up
because I wanted to not only distance myself from past relationships but because I
strive to be better than the people I have come to know. Friends are the people we
choose to spend our time with and by being literate in the language these people
closest to us speak we can improve our relationships even improving our selection of
friend. Communicationis a skill essential to everyone we all need to be able to
communicate and understand one another without that ability life is nearly
impossible. We communicate with everyone differently we tailor our language to
have the greatest impact, we wear suits
Green Housekeeping

A study conducted by Bohdanowicz shows that and average hotel produces more
than one kilogram of waste per guest per day and that approximately thirty percent of
this waste can be reused or recycled.
The first step to minimising waste management within the context of house keeping
is by implementing an extensive waste management system to sort recyclables from
general waste, Bohdanowicz (2005) claims that such an implementation can minimise
unsorted waste from three kilograms per guest per night to half a kilogram. Another
prominent example of how the Luxor Melbourne can minimise their waste output is
by offering their unwanted furniture, linen and towels to charities or those who are
less fortunate who would put the materials to better use and minimise operational
costs.
The final aspect of the Luxor Melbourne will be focusing on to create a sustainable
hotel environment is its energy consumption. According to Gossling (2005 pp.426)
the average energy consumption per bed per night in hotels is in the order of 130
mega joules to facilitate energy intense facilities such as restaurants and pools.
Gossling s (2005) studies have determined that major hotels can emit on average
20.6kg of carbon dioxide per night, which is a staggering number in which the Luxor
Melbourne hopes to diminish.

Kidney Transplants
Kidney transplants have been known since 1954 when it was first performed at
Brigham Woman s hospital in Boston. Although technology and technique involved
have improved, the waiting list for a kidney transplant (which is the most common
transplanted organ) continues to increase. In 2012 there were 95,000 individuals
waiting for a transplant yet only about 16,500 transplants were performed that year.
Introducing a new system that offers compensation for people who give up their
organs is what some believe the most effective way to decrease the waiting list.
Individuals waiting on a transplant and their family members endure many hardships
such as; the high cost of the transplant, hardships of dialysis, and reduced life
expectancy.Individuals... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paying someone $15,000 for a kidney will save money and time based solely on
common sense. Even if this new system only increases organ donations by a small
percentage the overall outcome will be a lot better then what it is now. Although
this system seems practical and efficient, to many it is immoral. Paying
individuals $15,000 for a kidney would ultimately save the recipient about
$330,000 and an improved liberalized lifestyle. In a transplant the recipient of the
kidney is the only person receiving a tangible benefit. If the person who donates
receives compensation in return this individual will also benefit financially. The
word donation is defined as an act or instance of presenting something as a gift,
grant, or contribution . Taking this definition into account the idea of organ
donations would be nonexistent. The article presents the fact that the waiting list is
getting larger and larger due to the lack of donations. Setting up a capitalist market
for body parts may in no doubt increase the donations yet, who are the people that
will be selling their organs? The less wealthy therefore implementing a system in
which the poor are working as replacement parts for the rich. Paying for organs is
immoral because it treats the human body as a commodity, but is it more immoral to
ignore the fact that we can possibly prevent thousands of deaths by
Research Paper On Therapy Dog
A therapy dog is a dog used in animal assisted therapy sessions primarily in
institutions such as nursing homes, some schools, hospitals, schools, old people s
homes, and prisons. They are great for giving unconditional love and gratitude to
people, with no concern as to their age, race, infirmity or background. Want your dog
to become one? Therapydog training is vital in that case.
Previous to starting therapy dog training it is imperative that you are aware of the
reason behind the practice as a whole and the benefits of a correctly trained therapy
dog. The responsibility of the therapy dog is to offer companionship, comfort to
patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and medical centers and to aid in the
rehabilitation process, as they attend schools and library s to listen to children read, ...

Although there is work involved, you need to have fun and relaxation together. Take
your dog to the park to learn to play well with others, however only let them show a
casual acquaintance with other dogs.
Dogs are fantastic creatures. They can honestly be a man s best friend if you let
them. They are very considerate, warm and friendly companions. Their loyalty and
friendliness have helped many people to recover from trauma, whether it be physical
or mental.
Scientists have observed people training their dogs. These were people with some
trauma. The conclusion of the study was that dog training can indeed help people
overcome medical problems. Dogs usually have unconditional love, and they are
very loyal as well. This makes many people s hearts warm up. It gives them that
empowering feeling they need to overcome their setbacks in life.
Dog training therapy continues to go mainstream these days. It s even at the point
where hospitals and other clinics are facilitating dog visitation. Especially children s
hospitals are open to the idea, and many of them are trading in the clowns for

Dante s Divine Comedy Summary
Dante s Divine Comedy
[1]
Dante s Divine Comedy is considered by many the supreme literary work not only
of medieval Christendom but of the Christian faith in general. Rivaled only by
Milton s Paradise Lost. Never has a poet given a more compelling vision of
Christian love than Dante in his Commedia (the Divina was added after Dante s
death). This massive and intricate structure of almost fifteen thousand lines, or one
hundred cantos, is divided equally into three large sections Inferno, Purgatorio, and
Paradiso that correspond to Dante s conception of the states of souls not only after
death but in life as well. This forms what Dante himself called the sacred poem. A
stirring drama of the human soul discovering the life of faith in a faithless world.
Pilgrim and Poet
[2]
Using himself as a fictional character, Dante the poet relates what happens to Dante
the pilgrim in the Comedy when, midway in the journey of our life, he awakes to
find himself lost in the dark and savage wood, he has somehow left the straight way
but is delivered from death when a figure of great importance in his life appears from
the dead to intervene. Sent by Beatrice, who has descended from heaven into hell to
call him to this task, the pagan poet Virgil comes to guide Dante back to the true
path. The lost pilgrim must travel through Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven, the three
realms of the afterlife that reveal God s justice and his love.

Cognitive Psychology False Memory Essay
Running head: False Memory
Theoretical and Applied/Practical Perspective of False Memory The human memory
is subject to a multitude of errors, including source misattributions, distortion and
creation of false memories. In order to do justice to this paper one must first
determine what is False memory ? False memory is memory for an event that did not
occur or distorted memory of actual events (Gleaves, Smith, Butler, Spiegel, 2004).
This type of memory has been an area of intense research interest for both theoretical
and practical reasons and psychologists have long been interested in memory
illusions and distortions, as such errors can inform theories of how the memory
works (Hunt Ellis, 2004). From a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When this phenomenon occurs an individual may confuse the gist trace strength
with the psychological experience of recollecting, which is normally mediated by
retrieving verbatim traces of studied items. As lure items tend to match very strong
gist traces in memory individuals believe they can recollect DRM lures. According
to Arndt, (2010), this theory proposes that although these errors are often
phenomenologically similar to items that were episodically experienced, lures
recollection phenomenology is representationally distinct from that of study items
(p.67). There is evidence however that false memory can be based largely on
automatic processing and is amenable to only limited conscious control. For
example, Dodd and MacLeod (2004), showed that mere exposure to DRM lists
was sufficient to create a false memory: They presented DRM lists as coloured
words in a Stroop test. Naming colours reduced accurate memory for list words as
compared to reading coloured words, but false memory remained high for critical
words. Furthermore, the elimination of false memory is difficult in that certain
encoding manipulations may lead to reductions in false memories through
metamemorial processes occurring at retrieval (Gallo, McDermott, Percer Roediger
III, 2001, p.339). For example slowing presentation rate decreases the probability of

The VRIO model of sustainability describes four characteristics value, rarity,
inimitability, and organization to exploit profits from which a company s
competitive advantage(s) arises. (Dyer, 2015, p.53) Columbia Sportswear creates
value in the fact that they take advantage of its long standing supplier relationships
to produce high quality products from around the world while controlling costs,
involving themselves in the supply chain early on rather than later which is typical
of the industry to get involved later on in the supply chain (Edgar Pro, 1998,

that I have grown up around has dramatically helped shape me into the person I am.
My familyis one of the main things that have helped shape me into the person I m
today. One of my early memories are of my mom working and going to school at the

and we would go there everyday to take care of the plants. But my mom started to
work all of the time so we were no longer aboul to go there so me and my sister made

is why one of my hobbies is gardening.
Some of the events that had help shape me into the person that I m today is of me

when my sister passed away and most of my sister we re not on good terms with

The Changes And Development Of Western Civilization
Through the history of western civilization, there have been many recurring themes.
One of the major themes throughout the history of this region would be political and
social violence. Monarchies and other forms of government have historically
struggled with being able to successfully and efficiently control their territories and
societies. Various forms of governments have been used in order to find the most
effective type of government for their individual countries. One main issue for these
government systems was the problem of ensuring that everyone is happy and
satisfied with the amount of liberties and rights being provided to them. If the

The Committee of Public Safety creation allowed for Robespierre to seize control of
the government and for his ideologue to be put into action (636). Robespierre is
known as the architect of the Reign of Terrorbecause he called for the arrest of more
than 300,000 French men and women within nine months, more than 40,000 of them
were executed (636). During the Reign of Terror the Jacobins targeted Girondists, as
well as anyone else who was not loyal to Robespierre s radical republic, for

In the Report of The Principles of Public Morality, you can clearly see that
Robespierre is advocating for the use of violence and terror against the people who
stand in the way of the Republic. Robespierre explains why terror is justified and
that it is because liberty should be protected at all costs (95). The following quote
from him illustrates this thinking, Therefore we must either smother our Republic s
internal and external enemies, or perish with them (96). This quote helps
demonstrate the ideologue that Robespierre had and that he truly believed that
without violence and the killing of the 40,000 French men and women that liberty
would be ruined in France. He also discussed the how in an ideal world violence
would not be needed in order to secure
Flawed Method At The Heart Of Scientific Communication
Peer Reviewed Journal Articles A flawed method at the heart of scientific
communication The publication of scientific work lies at the core of scientific
communication [1]. Scientists communicate their new research or studies to their
audience by publishing their work in scholarly journals and books. Moreover,
students of science and other disciplines that are not from the area of expertise and
that are unfamiliar with the given topic must be able to trust in the credibility of
articles published in journals and books. A common process that controls the high
quality of scientific publication is called peer review , which ensures that the
published work has met the specific standards of a given discipline, a process that
usually begins... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A survey conducted by Ware showed that a majority of authors (91%) believed that
peer review led to significant improvements in their last published paper [13].
More than half of them agreed that the peer review effectively identified
weaknesses and flaws in their manuscript (i.e. scientific errors, language and poor
reference) [13]. Peer reviewed journal articles are credible because experts deem
the information therein to be error free and unlikely to be wrong. For example, in
July 2012, a team of scientists from European Organization for Nuclear Research
(CERN) announced a discovery of a particle matching the property of Higgs boson
predicted by the standard model of physics [14*]. Initially, CERN was unsure
whether the newly discovered particle is actually the Higgs boson, probably
because the model physics only has one undiscovered particle remaining [15]. After
CERN s announcement, two papers describing their finding were submitted to a
journal Physics Letters B. In September 2012, both papers passed peer review and
are accepted as being actual science. Condliffe said in his article that now the
researchers are confident in their findings and it would be a rare chance for this new
discovery to be wrong [16]. This example shows that peer review reduces the
uncertainty involved in scientific work. Although all the science contains uncertainty
and how to communicate such uncertainty is always the biggest problem for
scientists [19], peer

was a specific activity (a pretty cool one in fact), instead of instruction help. For the
other article, most students there also struggle with the basics of mathematics, so I
wanted to find an article that helped students learn mathematics in a fun way. I liked
the shared story article because it brought together something that most people don t
think of: reading and mathematics. It s great for us to realize as instructors that
everything is related and can be used in conjunction with another. The first article,
Blending Wheels: Tools for Decoding Practice, focuses on a tool, the blending
wheel, which will help struggling readers of all ages practice blending sounds. A
blending wheel consists of three concentric circles with a brass fastener. Each circle
has letters on it that when spun, are combined to form words. The
Exploring Canvas
Canvas is a program I have various forms of interest in being effective at
navigating. First and foremost, the delivery of my masters degree was through
Canvas, making my understanding of it essential for success. Second, Canvas is
used in my current position, so it benefited me to understand the user experience
since I m currently working to build out the course shell for my culinary classes.
Third, Canvas is often used in online education, which is an area of employment I am
interested. Exploring Canvas, using it effectively, and understanding it s capabilities
provides many levels of professional purpose.
My progress towards this goal has been marked in odd ways and very incomplete in
others. Some initial examples of learning Canvas are
Visual Pleasure And Narrative Cinema
Laura Mulvey argues in her essay, Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema , that
voyeurism has associations with sadism which relies on a linear story in which
events happen that force a change in another character via a battle, a verbal dispute,
or in general a victory or a defeat, etc. This topic stood out to me because voyeurism
aligned with sadism is something that we can see in several films; the main character
kills an enemy, a witty conversation leaves another character duped, etc. While
watching movies we tend to derive pleasure from seeing characters that we relate to
interact in a way that puts them in charge of the situation. By analyzing moments
from a film with this topic in mind we are able to understand the way certain scenes
function in a different light.
There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson, USA, 2007) is a movie about self made
oil tycoon Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day Lewis) and his son H.W. (Dillion Freasier),
and their journey to drill for oil near the Western town of Little Boston. Blood
represents powerful forces in life throughout the film such as wealth, childbirth,
and death. Oil is seen as the blood of the land that is extracted and sold for profit and
is used by people in everyday life, childbirth is a powerful life force that draws or
distances characters to each other (Daniel and his son), and bloodshed through
murder is a means in which Daniel Plainview uses against his adversaries in a
sadistic way to rise to power.

Solitary Life Black widow spiders are solitary, sedentary creatures. This means that
they prefer to be alone, and they like to stay on one place for long periods of time.
The only time more than one black widow will be found together is their during
mating season. Chapter 18 The Black Widow Bite Upon getting bitten by a black
widow, you should seek medical attention immediately. In humans, bites produce
muscle aches, nausea, and a paralysis of the diaphragm that can make breathing
difficult. Black widows are nonaggressive and bite only in self defense, such as
when someone accidentally sits on them. Despite popular belief, most people who
are bitten suffer no serious damage. Chapter 19 Fatal or Not? Although black
widow bites can be fatal to young children, most people do survive. If you think a
black widow, or any other spider has bitten you, it is always best to remain cautious
and to tell an adult. Chapter 20
The Power Of The Assembly Line
In the era of consumerism, abundance of essential products is critical to supply the
high demands. This would have been very difficult without Henry Ford and his
excellence in operating the assembly line. Assembly line is one of the most reliable
and durable production techniques ever invented. In the 20th century, assembly line
was amongst one of the most remarkable technological advancements. Nearly all the
products that we use nowadays, we would not have it in the amount we need and at
the prices we have it without the assembly line. The assembly line has played a
major role in modifying the world and it is the main force behind every industryon
earth. The use of assembly line in industries such as automotive, arms, and food
has played a key role in supplying the world with essential products while
minimizing the total cost. The operation of assembly line in various industries has
assisted the world in providing crucial products that we need to make our lives
easier. The use of assembly line in automotive industry has improved the
production of vehicles, while lowering the cost. Before the invention of assembly
line, cars had to be crafted one at a time by skilled workers, which was very costly
and time consuming. During this time, the demand for cars was very high.
However, it was very expensive that only the rich could afford it. The production of
cars increased dramatically with the installation of assembly line while the cost was
reduced. The first assembly line

Analysis Of The Movie Chinatown
Chinatown is a drama/thriller starring Jack Nicholson who played the character of
Jake Gittes. The plot of the story develops around Gittes job as a private investigator,
and Gittes researches the background information of the water system for Los
Angeles. Through Gittes investigation, the sudden death of Mr. Mulwray becomes
the main plotline of the story. Ms. Mulwray, the wife hires Jake Gittes to investigate
her husband for infidelity, but through his inspecting, he starts to uncover the truths
within the Los Angeles water system. The characters of the film have a strange
connection with each other, which makes the story rich in depth. This is powerful for
the viewer because the potential of the plotcan be expanded with extraordinary plot
twists and characterdevelopment. Personally, I thought the Roman Polanski
constructed a phenomenal movie, because of the drama aspect. The conflict was
clear thirty minutes into the film, and the direction of the film perfectly kept the
audience glued to the plot of the movie. Chinatown provides effective elements of
drama through intensive detail, and a strong plot; which makes the movie highly
entertaining. Rules of the Game are an important concept to creating a drama, and I
enjoyed many of the subtle details of Chinatown. Polanski directs the film with a
noir setting to make his audience carefully indulge in every aspect of the film. The
setting of 1930 s Los Angeles truly intrigued me as viewer, because the setting felt

The Painted Bird By Jerzy Kosinski
In 1965, Jerzy Kosinski wrote his controversial novel The Painted Bird , which
tells the story of a young six year old unnamed boy s journey to survive during the
violence and horrors of World War II. Kosinski shows readers how war can change
people, as well as how barbaric human beings can act during wartime. During this
time the Nazi sentiment was spreading like wildfire throughout central Europe.
Hitler took great measures to ensure that Nazi s remained in control by using
cruelty and violence in creating fear and terror. Those living in Europe were far too
scared to go against the Nazis . The Jewish were not the only enemies of the

The Gypsies were said , by the Nazi s, to have evil powers and would only bring
sorrow and misfortune to the villagers. The fear and suspicion quickly turned into
hostility. The villagers poked, prodded, kicked, whipped and tortured the boy for
days while other watched and laughed My body burned from the slashes of the

believed that the boy must have brought the misfortune to them. They believed that
if they rid themselves of the Gypsy boy , they would be free of the misfortune.
Enraged, the villagers threw the boy into the river in hopes of his death by
drowning. The actions of the villagers were compelled by their prejudice against
the boys perceived ethnic origins. The alienation and loneliness the boy feels after
being separated from his parents and the only other person that has taken care of
him is gone, now he is all alone. The boy learns that he will have to learn to cope
with the alienation and loneliness in order to survive this world. The unknown causes
people to be quick to judge. The fear and hate of the unknown causes people to
commit horrible acts, which only gets easier when they are sanctioned by state
authority.

Blade Runner Themes In Frankenstein
In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley shows a variety of themes that concern creation of
humanity, family, the sublime. Shelley presents these themes through characters, and
the actions and emotions experienced in particular situations. With these themes in
Frankenstein, there are similar relationships that are in Scott Ridley s Blade Runner.
The theme of creation that is used in Frankenstein, comes from the main character of
Victor Frankenstein, who wants to successfully create a human life form. Shelley
criticizes Victor that not only creating a new being, but for abandoning the
creature when it came to life. The theme of creation is also referenced in Blade
Runner when it comes to the creation of the Replicants because they were
supposed to be better humans than humans. Dr. Tyrell, Blade Runner. The
Replicants were created with a fix life span of only four years, which was to
prevent them from getting out of control. Similar to the Victor Frankenstein, Dr.
Tyrell has complications when creating his lifeforms for which he doesn t want
their responsibility Family is an important theme in Frankenstein because the
creature wants to desperately have a companion so that he can no longer be lonely
in the world. This was also due to the rejection of appearance and overall disgust
society had for the creature, and his own creator is disgusted by him. This causes
the creature to go into denial and draws him to evil causing him to kill people that
are close or even related to his
Fiscal Policies In Canada
Fiscal policies as described by Evie Adomait are any and all budgetary matters that
relate to the government, also referred to as the Department of Finance in these
specific cases (p146). As we all know, our current Prime Minster is Liberal and so
the government s fiscal policies will be focused more on investing and subsidizing
social services. Prime Minister Trudeau has expressed to Canada and other global
leaders that he has no intentions of balancing the budget and urges others to do the
same. The Canadian government is focusing heavily on increasing government
spending and as a result, we are seeing an accumulation of debt that continues to
grow at an exponential rate. Before I proceed, it is important to make clear that I
myself am fiscally... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As it stands the government is spending far beyond its means and is running
excessive deficits that will have a huge impact on the economy for years to come.
After a single year we have already witnessed the large decline in value of the
Canadian dollar. The government should not be expanding their means through
fiscal policies that promote such debt. This places a burden on the taxpayers of the
country and the economy as a whole. My argument stands from the fact that the
government receives its income from the personal income of its residents and
corporations. Taxpayers elect a government on the basis that they will represent the
needs of the people and an important factor in this election process includes the
proposed tax rates of each political government. When a political government sets
the tax rate it is recorded in legislation and signifies that those funds should suffice.
When a government begins to overspend and suffer from a deficit they are forced to
increase tax rates; our current government is a
Jungles And The Jungle Books
Upon studying children s literature, one is likely to notice that throughout various
texts, there are a number of common and recurring elements. One theme that is
present in many stories is that of jungles and forests (for the purposes of this paper,
these will be discussed as if they were one in the same). In Rudyard Kiplings The
Jungle Books and Lewis Carroll s Through the Looking Glass, we see both jungles
and forests represented in different ways, however it can be argued that they serve
similar functions in both texts. In both stories, forests and jungles are treated as
liminal spaces, as a sort of limbo between one state of being and another. In The
Jungle Books, the jungle that Mowgliand the animals live in is portrayed as the
threshold at which the laws of man end and the laws of nature begin, while in
Through the Looking Glass, forests are portrayed as obstacles through which one
must pass in order to reach a destination. Mowgli fulfils his destiny within the jungle
by being raised there, while Alice passes through several forests in order to reach her
place as queen on the chess board. Thus, forests and jungles in both texts function not
only as liminal spaces, but as transformative agents which mold the protagonist into
the person they must be in order to succeed in their story.
In general, forests are a very common element of children s literature, even dating
back to the stories collected by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. From children being sent
out into the
Rudolf Virchow s Impact On Modern Biological Sciences
Rudolf Virchow could be considered one of the greatest biologists of 19th century,
and perhaps even of all history. His abundance of work is also mostly accurate,
sparing a couple minor and major misconceptions. He has even received an award
for his efforts. This pathologist has greatly impacted modern biological sciences.
Before one learns his achievements, it is imperative to know his early years. On
October 13, 1821, Rudolf Virchow was born in rural Pomerania, an area in Prussia.
He lived as an only child (Kearl, 2015). As a child, he had a fascination of the
natural world. Virchow earned a great education because of his gift of intelligence (
Virchow, Rudolf Carl, 2015). Originally, Virchow sought to be a pastor. He

One of his biggest discoveries is the formation of cells. In 1855, Virchow stated
that cells are made from other cells, which is still proven to be true today. He is not
considered the first person to state this, but once he suggested this many other
scientists took this thought seriously. Prior to this, it was understood that
imbalances in the body produced a substance called blastema, which caused cells
to be made. He is attributed to performing the first organized autopsy, which is now
a common medical practice. The discovery of Leukemia is also accredited to him.
In 1847, Rudolf and a fellow physician, Benno Reinhardt, published their own
scientific journal. In said journal, the two asserted that medical practices should be
based on only well proven science. The duo rejected several contemporary medical
practices that had been around for ages, such as Galen s use of humors which was
later proven to be incorrect (Doc, 2015). He later began to publish textbooks such
as Cellular Pathology (Titford, 2015). Virchow also was an advocate of the
improvement of public health for all social classes. In the medical science field,
Virchow made an abundance of other discoveries. He published more than 2,000
scientific books and papers throughout his life, mainly in microscopic pathology. The

Substitution Reactions ( Sn2 And Sn )
Using various alcohols, the substitution reactions (Sn2 and Sn) were utilized by
helping with which functional groups reacted, in which way. Developing a
mechanism for the alcohols are discussed.
This journal inspects the substitution reactions occurring in the alcohol containing
compounds. When a substitution reaction transpires, it substitutes one sigma (Пѓ)
bond with another sigma (Пѓ) bond. In substitution reactions, there are two types that
are focused when working with organic molecules, Sn1 and Sn2.
A Sn1 reaction is a nucleophilic substitution reaction, which has one molecule that is
in the rate determining step of the reaction. This simply means there is one
substitution that occurs before the final product is created. A Sn2 reaction is, also, a
nucleophilic substitution reaction. The Sn2 reaction has two molecules that are in
the rate determining step; therefore, two substitutions occur before the final product
is created (reactions occur simultaneously).
The three different types of alcohols that were utilized during this experiment are
common in Sn1 and Sn2 reactions. The reaction that occurs between the alcohol and
the solvents are both Sn1 and Sn2 reactions.
While working with reaction 1 there are several different chemical properties to be
aware of, 3 Phenyl 1 propanol has a melting point of 18В°C. It also has a boiling
point of 119В°C. The density of the alcohol us 1.001 g/mL. In reaction 2, the boiling
point of 2 pentanol is 119В°C. The melting point of
Medicare Severity-Diagnosis Related Group Case Study
Introduction
The Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Group (MS DRG) is a system that
Medicare uses to classify a patient s hospital stay into groups that facilitate payment
of services. The MS DRG is commonly the system used today because of the
increased population of Medicare patients.
Background of the MS DRGs
In 1983, the government endorsed the system using diagnosis related groups (DRGs)
as the payment methodology, for the payment of operating costs associated with
Medicare Part A hospitalinpatient stays. Based on set rates, this is referred to as
the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS). Each case is placed into a
Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Group (MS DRG). Although the system was
created by Medicare, other payers have implemented a DRG system, such as
Tricare, Medicaid, and Blue Cross. Patients can be assigned to an MS DRG based on
their diagnosis, surgical procedures, age, and other information, this information is
provided on the Medicare claim, and Medicare uses this information to decide how
much the hospitals should be paid.

Lab Exercise At Room Temperature Equal
Introduction:
Many of molecular biology and chemistry involves working with very small
volumes. A micropipette is standard laboratory equipment used to measure and
dispense a specific volume of liquid (#5 buffalostate.edu). This is a very helpful
tool that we need to master and able to use in a biochemistry lab. The purpose of
this lab exercise is learning how to use a micropipette to find the density of different
liquids, and be able to identify an unknown liquid using density. Also, learn how to
evaluate the experimental accuracy, precise, and error of small volumes used in
biochemistry based on the theory that 1gram of water at room temperature equal

Based on the theoretical density, the density of water, methanol, and glycerol that
obtained in the experiment should be the same or close to these values above. If the
experiment performs correctly with high precise and accuracy, then density of the

outcome for this experiment is the value you obtained will be close or exact the
theoretical values. In this exercise, all of the micropipettes measured in the form of a
microliter. There are different models of micropipettes have different minimum and
maximum limits. The two micropipettes we were used for this experiment are P1000

Essay on Teenage Drinking In America
Teenagers are America s greatest natural resource, and they need to be protected from
some of the evils that lurk in the world. A subject that needs special attention is the
abuse of alcohol by teens. Statistics show that there is a problem currently between
teens and alcohol. There are many causes of teenage drinking and effects that prove
that drinking is an important issue that needs to be dealt with to preserve American
teenagers. Teenage drinking will become worse of a problem if it continues
unchecked on its current path to destruction. Alcohol abuseamong teenagers in the

There are some complex causes to teenage drinking. There are social, emotional,
and physical causes that influence teens to drink alcohol. The most prevalent
cause of teenage drinking is peer pressure. Every problem has a beginning, where
the domino effect starts. In most cases people get started drinking not because
they like it, but because it is illegal and it gives them a chance to rebel. The so
called rebel becomes bored of drinking alone and eventually seeks company when
they are drinking. The only catch is that the rebel can not be the only one drinking
so the company has to drink. This is where the problem with peer pressure and
teenage drinking begins and the first domino starts the chain reaction. There are
two types of peer pressure. There is direct peer pressure where a subject s peers
actually force him into having a drink. There is also indirect peer pressure where
the subject enters a setting and his peers are drinking so he decides to have a drink
to fit in with the rest of his peers (Articles Teenage Drinking 2). Surveys show that
alcohol abuse is related to teenage activities such as going on dates and going to
parties (Teenage Alcohol Misuse 2). Teens have emotional reasons for drinking
alcohol. Teens choose to drink to relax and allow their bodies to unwind after a
stressful day. Teenagers also choose drinking as a way to escape the harsh realities
of the world such as, problems at home and

It wasn t long before things started to move just as the cheap money wanted them to.
This environment of easy credit and the upward spiral of home prices made
investments in higher yielding subprime mortgages look like a new rush for gold.
The Fed continued slashing interest rates, emboldened, perhaps, by continued low
inflation despite lower interest rates. In June 2003, the Fed lowered interest rates to
1%, the lowest rate in 45 years. The whole financial market started resembling a
candy shop where everything was selling at a huge discount and without any down

Unfortunately, no one was there to warn about the tummy aches that would follow.

But the bankers thought that it just wasn t enough to lend the candies lying on their

Human Suffering And Media Analysis
In the context of the current mediatised society, the media have become the platform
where the encounter with the other increasingly takes place, and in particular, where
the public becomes aware of circumstances of human suffering that are happening far
away from their immediate locale (Thompson, 1995). Even though the media have
expanded the field of view of the spectator, the mediated encounter with the distant
sufferer is structured over an abysmal gap (Bauman, 1993) between the scene of
suffering and the safe reality of the spectator sheltered behind the screen. This
paradox has raised a number of moral and ethical considerations. The question at the
heart of the debate is to what extent the new visibility of the other can in fact... Show

Taking a normative standpoint, Silverstone maintains that the media should function
as a public space that works for the human condition and not against it (2007: 33), a
moral space that promotes the inclusion and care of the other. This cosmopolitan
disposition towards the other, especially in the context of distant suffering, can then
become the foundation of transnational solidarity and of the pursuit of justice overall
(Silverstone, 2007). Silverstone advocates for the media to adopt specific
representational principles that foster this sort of cosmopolitan engagement. In
particular, he proposes the notion of proper distance , a theoretical principle that
captures the dialectical coexistence between the common humanity of the other and
his irreducible difference (Silverstone, 2007). Proper distance , in other words,
identifies the degree of proximity that presents the other as other with humanity
(Chouliaraki and Orgad, 2011); who deserves the dignity that is to be accorded to all

As information technology continues to expand, we find that almost anyone can be a
self claimed expert in almost any field, without the cumbersome technicality of
having an educational background on the matter they choose to discuss. This issue is
further exacerbated when those individuals are given a public platform to convey
their poorly substantiated opinions. Now it is important, as it has always been that
the individual must take it upon their self to properly research the subject matter
before developing an opinion. In this case, information technology has provided
people with the ability to easily obtain information from reliable sources.
Information technology has changed the context in which governments must operate.

Conversion Of A Lawn Mower Essay
Conversion of a lawn mower to generator.
INTRODUCTION:
The lawn mower used had a 3.5 Horse power Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke gas
engine. That particular model motor has a safety shut off lever on the lawn mower
handle which has a cable attached to the motor, and the attached cable must be
activated to disengage the motor shut off break and to allow spark to reach the
spark plug. What was decided was to cut the cable off and deactivate the motor shut
off feature. If the motor has this feature, the cable will have to be observed and also
the levers on the motor to figure out a way to deactivate or preserve the feature. In
both cases the motor will not start unless something is done about the cable and
levers.
A small hole was discovered in one of the lever plates on the side of the engine, the
cable was then pulled, and a small nail was then inserted into the lever to keep the
mechanism from retracting and shutting off the motor. As stated earlier, it will take a
bit of time to figure out how the motor shut off mechanism works (if there is one
installed on the motor).
PROCEDURE:
The first step is to remove the motor from the lawn mower base. Typically, there are
3 or 4 bolts holding the motor to the base, but before they can be removed, the
mower blade and the shaft coupler that holds the blade on the motor shaft will need
to be removed. Getting the blade and the coupling off is slightly difficult, but
removing the blade is not nearly as difficult, however still requires a
Stochastic Grinding Process Development For Metal
Bonded...
Deterministic grinding process development for metal bonded diamond grinding
wheels through patterned grinding wheel by utilizing micro EDM comprises four
main investigation on: (1) material removal mechanism considering interaction
between diamond grains, workpiece, metal bond and electrical spark, (2) effective
pattern geometry design for effective material removal and grinding performance, (3)
application of micro EDM to create the pattern on the metal bonded grinding wheel,
(4) analysing the grinding performance on hard materials such as Inconel and carbide.
We believe that knowledge obtained in these four subjects through journal
publications and conference/seminar will benefit academics in the field of
manufacturing technology, surface science and materials engineering. Especially,
establishing a FEM/SPH model which can present different material removal phases,
rubbing, ploughing, and cutting during grinding and mechanical interaction between
abrasivegrains, metal bond, and workpiece will benefit the researcher in the field of
micromachining by providing advanced understanding on metal cutting mechanism
at micro scale for hard materials. Because grinding has the most complex cutting
mechanism among other machining processes, detailed understanding of this
certainly will help to comprehend other machining processes cutting mechanism
easily. Application of micro EDM to dress the metal bonded diamondwheels will
show how electrical discharge energy is controlled to

Boeing 767 Operation Management Essay
The Boeing 767: From Concept to Production
BSA 523: Operation Management
Professor Henry P. Barnhill
March 6, 2012
The Boeing Commercial Airplane Company was founded in 1916 and was located in
Seattle, Washington. Now headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Boeing is the world s
largest and perhaps most well known aerospace firm. According to their website
(www.boeing.com), the company operates in three principal segments commercial
airplanes; military aircraft and missiles; and space and communications. The
commercial airplane division consists of the 717, 737, 747, 757, 767 and 777
families of jetliners and the Boeing business jet. Boeing faces stiff competition from
international aerospace companies seeking to increase market share, ... Show more

With regard to the 767, Boeing was able to use parametric cost techniques to
formulate an accurate estimate of total assembly hours required, thereby facilitating
net present value (NPV) analysis of the project. Besides the above mentioned tools
and methods, Boeing also employed a variety of human resources to plan, schedule
and adjust project performance. There were Audit Teams that were composed of
seasoned Boeing managers, audit teams investigated every facet of the product
development process including finance, manufacturing, technology and management.
These teams promoted project development by catching errors early and directly
reporting them to upper management for resolution. The Management Visibility
System schedules were prominently posted for review, and weekly status meetings
were held in which department supervisors notified each other of their needs and
potential problems. Supervisors were required to stand up at meetings and explain
why they were unable to meet production goals. Managers were then entrusted with
clearing all hurdles to achieving those goals. The Production Change Board (PCB)
reviewed all engineering related change requests and assessed their cost and schedule
impact. A feasible implementation approach was then developed for each approved
request .By resorting to a wide variety of technical and human resource planning and
coordination tools and strategies, Boeing was able to tackle the 767 development
project

  • 1. Essay On Bad Habits Crafting an essay on the subject of "Bad Habits" is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor. The intricacy lies not only in the extensive research required to understand the various dimensions of this topic but also in the delicate balance needed to present a thoughtful and compelling argument. Bad habits, by their nature, encompass a wide range of behaviors that individuals engage in unconsciously or habitually, making the task of dissecting and analyzing them a nuanced process. One must navigate through psychological, social, and sometimes even physiological aspects to offer a comprehensive view. Moreover, addressing the impact of bad habits on personal well- being and societal dynamics demands a judicious blend of empathy and critical analysis. It's not merely about pointing fingers but understanding the underlying triggers and motivations that perpetuate these behaviors. As a writer, one needs to carefully structure the essay, ensuring a coherent flow of ideas and maintaining a balance between presenting the gravity of the issue and offering constructive insights. Delving into real-life examples, scientific studies, and anecdotal evidence can further enrich the narrative, but it requires a meticulous selection process to ensure relevance and reliability. The challenge lies not just in depicting the negative aspects of bad habits but in guiding the reader towards reflection and potential avenues for positive change. It's about striking a chord with the audience, prompting them to reassess their own behaviors without inducing guilt or condemnation. In essence, writing an essay on bad habits necessitates a blend of research, empathy, and persuasive skills. It involves navigating a complex terrain, weaving together diverse perspectives to construct a compelling narrative that not only educates but also inspires introspection. And as you ponder on the intricacies of such a task, it's worth noting that if the challenge becomes overwhelming, there are resources available. It ended Spanish ruling in the Americas and resulted in the expansion of territories in the Pacific and Latin America for the US. During this period of imperialism, there were many influences driving the U.S. government. The war started with Cubastruggling to gain their independence from Spain. However, Spain rejected their notions by brutally stopping the Cuban rebellion. Newspapers began portraying Spain as spiteful and the sympathy for the Cuban rebels rose in America. William Randolph Hearst was responsible for exaggerating the truth in the papers about the fight for independence from Spain. Hearst invented a term called yellow journalism , which exploits, distorts, or exaggerates the news to attract readers. A truce was called and Spain allowed Cuba to have limited power of self government. Nevertheless, the demand for the US to intervene with the conflict grew and it resulted in the sinking of the USS Mainein the Havana Harbor in Cuba. The battleship had an explosion that resulted in 260 sailors dead. The explosion was thought to have been caused by the Spanish even though it was never proven. This led to the start of the war. Spain declared war on the US on April 24, 1898. No American favored Cuban independence like Roosevelt. Teddy Roosevelt was one of the most conspicuous heroes during the Spanish American war. It is apparent that Teddy favored the Navy. He believed that a strong navy in the

I found the internet of things has a major impact in our future of mankind and on the daily life of the individuals, we are part of a world where everything has the potential to be connected. As a matter of fact, it is estimated by garner that by 2020, the installed base for the internet of things will exceed 212 billion and will be over 30 billion of connected things (Hucanu Georgescu, 2016). The examples of the soldier, gospel, virtually around the world were great examples that you incorporated in your paper. I agree it s important to protect the copyright laws. You mentioned individual earning royalty for their music and it s important to ensure copyright with the music. I found this to be true because Copyright in a song is different from many other works. Each song holds two copyrights: a copyright in the sand recording and a copyright in the musical composition (Conte, 2017). Fischer explains how we should follow rules and it shows respect. A study conducted by Bohdanowicz shows that and average hotel produces more than one kilogram of waste per guest per day and that approximately thirty percent of this waste can be reused or recycled. The first step to minimising waste management within the context of house keeping is by implementing an extensive waste management system to sort recyclables from general waste, Bohdanowicz (2005) claims that such an implementation can minimise unsorted waste from three kilograms per guest per night to half a kilogram. Another prominent example of how the Luxor Melbourne can minimise their waste output is by offering their unwanted furniture, linen and towels to charities or those who are less fortunate who would put the materials to better use and minimise operational costs. The final aspect of the Luxor Melbourne will be focusing on to create a sustainable hotel environment is its energy consumption. In 2012 there were 95,000 individuals waiting for a transplant yet only about 16,500 transplants were performed that year. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paying someone $15,000 for a kidney will save money and time based solely on common sense. Even if this new system only increases organ donations by a small percentage the overall outcome will be a lot better then what it is now. Although this system seems practical and efficient, to many it is immoral. Paying individuals $15,000 for a kidney would ultimately save the recipient about $330,000 and an improved liberalized lifestyle. In a transplant the recipient of the kidney is the only person receiving a tangible benefit. If the person who donates receives compensation in return this individual will also benefit financially. The word donation is defined as an act or instance of presenting something as a gift, grant, or contribution . Taking this definition into account the idea of organ donations would be nonexistent. The article presents the fact that the waiting list is getting larger and larger due to the lack of donations. Setting up a capitalist market for body parts may in no doubt increase the donations yet, who are the people that will be selling their organs? The less wealthy therefore implementing a system in which the poor are working as replacement parts for the rich. • 11. Dante s Divine Comedy Summary Dante s Divine Comedy [1] Dante s Divine Comedy is considered by many the supreme literary work not only of medieval Christendom but of the Christian faith in general. Rivaled only by Milton s Paradise Lost. Never has a poet given a more compelling vision of Christian love than Dante in his Commedia (the Divina was added after Dante s death). This massive and intricate structure of almost fifteen thousand lines, or one hundred cantos, is divided equally into three large sections Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso that correspond to Dante s conception of the states of souls not only after death but in life as well. This forms what Dante himself called the sacred poem. A stirring drama of the human soul discovering the life of faith in a faithless world. Pilgrim and Poet [2] Using himself as a fictional character, Dante the poet relates what happens to Dante the pilgrim in the Comedy when, midway in the journey of our life, he awakes to find himself lost in the dark and savage wood, he has somehow left the straight way but is delivered from death when a figure of great importance in his life appears from the dead to intervene. Sent by Beatrice, who has descended from heaven into hell to call him to this task, the pagan poet Virgil comes to guide Dante back to the true path. The lost pilgrim must travel through Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven, the three realms of the afterlife that reveal God s justice and his love. [3]As Dante travels he glimpses things

Cognitive Psychology False Memory Essay Running head: False Memory Theoretical and Applied/Practical Perspective of False Memory The human memory is subject to a multitude of errors, including source misattributions, distortion and creation of false memories. In order to do justice to this paper one must first determine what is False memory ? False memory is memory for an event that did not occur or distorted memory of actual events (Gleaves, Smith, Butler, Spiegel, 2004). This type of memory has been an area of intense research interest for both theoretical and practical reasons and psychologists have long been interested in memory illusions and distortions, as such errors can inform theories of how the memory works (Hunt Ellis, 2004). From a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When this phenomenon occurs an individual may confuse the gist trace strength with the psychological experience of recollecting, which is normally mediated by retrieving verbatim traces of studied items. As lure items tend to match very strong gist traces in memory individuals believe they can recollect DRM lures. According to Arndt, (2010), this theory proposes that although these errors are often phenomenologically similar to items that were episodically experienced, lures recollection phenomenology is representationally distinct from that of study items (p.67). There is evidence however that false memory can be based largely on automatic processing and is amenable to only limited conscious control. For example, Dodd and MacLeod (2004), showed that mere exposure to DRM lists was sufficient to create a false memory: They presented DRM lists as coloured words in a Stroop test. Naming colours reduced accurate memory for list words as compared to reading coloured words, but false memory remained high for critical words. Furthermore, the elimination of false memory is difficult in that certain encoding manipulations may lead to reductions in false memories through metamemorial processes occurring at retrieval (Gallo, McDermott, Percer Roediger III, 2001, p.339). For example slowing presentation rate decreases the probability of false

Flawed Method At The Heart Of Scientific Communication Peer Reviewed Journal Articles A flawed method at the heart of scientific communication The publication of scientific work lies at the core of scientific communication [1]. Scientists communicate their new research or studies to their audience by publishing their work in scholarly journals and books. Moreover, students of science and other disciplines that are not from the area of expertise and that are unfamiliar with the given topic must be able to trust in the credibility of articles published in journals and books. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A survey conducted by Ware showed that a majority of authors (91%) believed that peer review led to significant improvements in their last published paper [13]. More than half of them agreed that the peer review effectively identified weaknesses and flaws in their manuscript (i.e. scientific errors, language and poor reference) [13]. Peer reviewed journal articles are credible because experts deem the information therein to be error free and unlikely to be wrong. For example, in July 2012, a team of scientists from European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) announced a discovery of a particle matching the property of Higgs boson predicted by the standard model of physics [14*]. Initially, CERN was unsure whether the newly discovered particle is actually the Higgs boson, probably because the model physics only has one undiscovered particle remaining [15]. After CERN s announcement, two papers describing their finding were submitted to a journal Physics Letters B. In September 2012, both papers passed peer review and are accepted as being actual science. Condliffe said in his article that now the researchers are confident in their findings and it would be a rare chance for this new discovery to be wrong [16]. This example shows that peer review reduces the uncertainty involved in scientific work. Although all the science contains uncertainty and how to communicate such uncertainty is always the biggest problem for scientists [19], peer

Most students there struggle reading in general but they also struggle in pronouncing words. I sought to find an article that helped break down phonemes and I found the Blending Wheelarticle. What drew me to this specific article was the fact that this was a specific activity (a pretty cool one in fact), instead of instruction help. For the other article, most students there also struggle with the basics of mathematics, so I wanted to find an article that helped students learn mathematics in a fun way. I liked the shared story article because it brought together something that most people don t think of: reading and mathematics. It s great for us to realize as instructors that everything is related and can be used in conjunction with another. The first article, Blending Wheels: Tools for Decoding Practice, focuses on a tool, the blending wheel, which will help struggling readers of all ages practice blending sounds. A blending wheel consists of three concentric circles with a brass fastener. Each circle has letters on it that when spun, are combined to form words. The

Visual Pleasure And Narrative Cinema Laura Mulvey argues in her essay, Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema , that voyeurism has associations with sadism which relies on a linear story in which events happen that force a change in another character via a battle, a verbal dispute, or in general a victory or a defeat, etc. This topic stood out to me because voyeurism aligned with sadism is something that we can see in several films; the main character kills an enemy, a witty conversation leaves another character duped, etc. While watching movies we tend to derive pleasure from seeing characters that we relate to interact in a way that puts them in charge of the situation. By analyzing moments from a film with this topic in mind we are able to understand the way certain scenes function in a different light. There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson, USA, 2007) is a movie about self made oil tycoon Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day Lewis) and his son H.W. (Dillion Freasier), and their journey to drill for oil near the Western town of Little Boston. Blood represents powerful forces in life throughout the film such as wealth, childbirth, and death. Oil is seen as the blood of the land that is extracted and sold for profit and is used by people in everyday life, childbirth is a powerful life force that draws or distances characters to each other (Daniel and his son), and bloodshed through murder is a means in which Daniel Plainview uses against his adversaries in a sadistic way to rise to power. This would have been very difficult without Henry Ford and his excellence in operating the assembly line. Assembly line is one of the most reliable and durable production techniques ever invented. In the 20th century, assembly line was amongst one of the most remarkable technological advancements. Nearly all the products that we use nowadays, we would not have it in the amount we need and at the prices we have it without the assembly line. The assembly line has played a major role in modifying the world and it is the main force behind every industryon earth. The use of assembly line in industries such as automotive, arms, and food has played a key role in supplying the world with essential products while minimizing the total cost. The operation of assembly line in various industries has assisted the world in providing crucial products that we need to make our lives easier. The use of assembly line in automotive industry has improved the production of vehicles, while lowering the cost. Before the invention of assembly line, cars had to be crafted one at a time by skilled workers, which was very costly and time consuming. During this time, the demand for cars was very high. However, it was very expensive that only the rich could afford it. The production of cars increased dramatically with the installation of assembly line while the cost was reduced. The plot of the story develops around Gittes job as a private investigator, and Gittes researches the background information of the water system for Los Angeles. Through Gittes investigation, the sudden death of Mr. Mulwray becomes the main plotline of the story. Ms. Mulwray, the wife hires Jake Gittes to investigate her husband for infidelity, but through his inspecting, he starts to uncover the truths within the Los Angeles water system. The characters of the film have a strange connection with each other, which makes the story rich in depth. This is powerful for the viewer because the potential of the plotcan be expanded with extraordinary plot twists and characterdevelopment. Personally, I thought the Roman Polanski constructed a phenomenal movie, because of the drama aspect. The conflict was clear thirty minutes into the film, and the direction of the film perfectly kept the audience glued to the plot of the movie. Chinatown provides effective elements of drama through intensive detail, and a strong plot; which makes the movie highly entertaining. Rules of the Game are an important concept to creating a drama, and I enjoyed many of the subtle details of Chinatown. Polanski directs the film with a noir setting to make his audience carefully indulge in every aspect of the film. The setting of 1930 s Los Angeles truly intrigued me as viewer, because the setting felt nostalgic

  • 27. Blade Runner Themes In Frankenstein In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley shows a variety of themes that concern creation of humanity, family, the sublime. Shelley presents these themes through characters, and the actions and emotions experienced in particular situations. With these themes in Frankenstein, there are similar relationships that are in Scott Ridley s Blade Runner. The theme of creation that is used in Frankenstein, comes from the main character of Victor Frankenstein, who wants to successfully create a human life form. Shelley criticizes Victor that not only creating a new being, but for abandoning the creature when it came to life. The theme of creation is also referenced in Blade Runner when it comes to the creation of the Replicants because they were supposed to be better humans than humans. Dr. Tyrell, Blade Runner. The Replicants were created with a fix life span of only four years, which was to prevent them from getting out of control. Similar to the Victor Frankenstein, Dr. Tyrell has complications when creating his lifeforms for which he doesn t want their responsibility Family is an important theme in Frankenstein because the creature wants to desperately have a companion so that he can no longer be lonely in the world. This was also due to the rejection of appearance and overall disgust society had for the creature, and his own creator is disgusted by him. This causes the creature to go into denial and draws him to evil causing him to kill people that are close or even related to his

As it stands the government is spending far beyond its means and is running excessive deficits that will have a huge impact on the economy for years to come. After a single year we have already witnessed the large decline in value of the Canadian dollar. The government should not be expanding their means through fiscal policies that promote such debt. This places a burden on the taxpayers of the country and the economy as a whole. My argument stands from the fact that the government receives its income from the personal income of its residents and corporations. Taxpayers elect a government on the basis that they will represent the needs of the people and an important factor in this election process includes the proposed tax rates of each political government. When a political government sets the tax rate it is recorded in legislation and signifies that those funds should suffice. When a government begins to overspend and suffer from a deficit they are forced to increase tax rates; our current government is a

One theme that is present in many stories is that of jungles and forests (for the purposes of this paper, these will be discussed as if they were one in the same). In Rudyard Kiplings The Jungle Books and Lewis Carroll s Through the Looking Glass, we see both jungles and forests represented in different ways, however it can be argued that they serve similar functions in both texts. In both stories, forests and jungles are treated as liminal spaces, as a sort of limbo between one state of being and another. In The Jungle Books, the jungle that Mowgliand the animals live in is portrayed as the threshold at which the laws of man end and the laws of nature begin, while in Through the Looking Glass, forests are portrayed as obstacles through which one must pass in order to reach a destination. Mowgli fulfils his destiny within the jungle by being raised there, while Alice passes through several forests in order to reach her place as queen on the chess board. Thus, forests and jungles in both texts function not only as liminal spaces, but as transformative agents which mold the protagonist into the person they must be in order to succeed in their story. In general, forests are a very common element of children s literature, even dating back to the stories collected by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. From children being sent out into the

Prior to this, it was understood that imbalances in the body produced a substance called blastema, which caused cells to be made. He is attributed to performing the first organized autopsy, which is now a common medical practice. The discovery of Leukemia is also accredited to him. In 1847, Rudolf and a fellow physician, Benno Reinhardt, published their own scientific journal. In said journal, the two asserted that medical practices should be based on only well proven science. The duo rejected several contemporary medical practices that had been around for ages, such as Galen s use of humors which was later proven to be incorrect (Doc, 2015). He later began to publish textbooks such as Cellular Pathology (Titford, 2015). Virchow also was an advocate of the improvement of public health for all social classes. Developing a mechanism for the alcohols are discussed. This journal inspects the substitution reactions occurring in the alcohol containing compounds. When a substitution reaction transpires, it substitutes one sigma (Пѓ) bond with another sigma (Пѓ) bond. In substitution reactions, there are two types that are focused when working with organic molecules, Sn1 and Sn2. A Sn1 reaction is a nucleophilic substitution reaction, which has one molecule that is in the rate determining step of the reaction. This simply means there is one substitution that occurs before the final product is created. A Sn2 reaction is, also, a nucleophilic substitution reaction. The Sn2 reaction has two molecules that are in the rate determining step; therefore, two substitutions occur before the final product is created (reactions occur simultaneously). The three different types of alcohols that were utilized during this experiment are common in Sn1 and Sn2 reactions. The reaction that occurs between the alcohol and the solvents are both Sn1 and Sn2 reactions. Human Suffering And Media Analysis In the context of the current mediatised society, the media have become the platform where the encounter with the other increasingly takes place, and in particular, where the public becomes aware of circumstances of human suffering that are happening far away from their immediate locale (Thompson, 1995). Even though the media have expanded the field of view of the spectator, the mediated encounter with the distant sufferer is structured over an abysmal gap (Bauman, 1993) between the scene of suffering and the safe reality of the spectator sheltered behind the screen. • 42. Conversion Of A Lawn Mower Essay Conversion of a lawn mower to generator. INTRODUCTION: The lawn mower used had a 3.5 Horse power Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke gas engine. That particular model motor has a safety shut off lever on the lawn mower handle which has a cable attached to the motor, and the attached cable must be activated to disengage the motor shut off break and to allow spark to reach the spark plug. What was decided was to cut the cable off and deactivate the motor shut off feature. If the motor has this feature, the cable will have to be observed and also the levers on the motor to figure out a way to deactivate or preserve the feature. In both cases the motor will not start unless something is done about the cable and levers. A small hole was discovered in one of the lever plates on the side of the engine, the cable was then pulled, and a small nail was then inserted into the lever to keep the mechanism from retracting and shutting off the motor. As stated earlier, it will take a bit of time to figure out how the motor shut off mechanism works (if there is one installed on the motor). PROCEDURE: The first step is to remove the motor from the lawn mower base. Typically, there are 3 or 4 bolts holding the motor to the base, but before they can be removed, the mower blade and the shaft coupler that holds the blade on the motor shaft will need to be removed. Getting the blade and the coupling off is slightly difficult, but removing the blade is not nearly as difficult, however still requires a

Deterministic grinding process development for metal bonded diamond grinding wheels through patterned grinding wheel by utilizing micro EDM comprises four main investigation on: (1) material removal mechanism considering interaction between diamond grains, workpiece, metal bond and electrical spark, (2) effective pattern geometry design for effective material removal and grinding performance, (3) application of micro EDM to create the pattern on the metal bonded grinding wheel, (4) analysing the grinding performance on hard materials such as Inconel and carbide. We believe that knowledge obtained in these four subjects through journal publications and conference/seminar will benefit academics in the field of manufacturing technology, surface science and materials engineering. Especially, establishing a FEM/SPH model which can present different material removal phases, rubbing, ploughing, and cutting during grinding and mechanical interaction between abrasivegrains, metal bond, and workpiece will benefit the researcher in the field of micromachining by providing advanced understanding on metal cutting mechanism at micro scale for hard materials. Because grinding has the most complex cutting mechanism among other machining processes, detailed understanding of this certainly will help to comprehend other machining processes cutting mechanism easily. Application of micro EDM to dress the metal bonded diamondwheels will show how electrical discharge energy is controlled to

With regard to the 767, Boeing was able to use parametric cost techniques to formulate an accurate estimate of total assembly hours required, thereby facilitating net present value (NPV) analysis of the project. Besides the above mentioned tools and methods, Boeing also employed a variety of human resources to plan, schedule and adjust project performance. There were Audit Teams that were composed of seasoned Boeing managers, audit teams investigated every facet of the product development process including finance, manufacturing, technology and management. These teams promoted project development by catching errors early and directly reporting them to upper management for resolution. The Management Visibility System schedules were prominently posted for review, and weekly status meetings were held in which department supervisors notified each other of their needs and potential problems. Supervisors were required to stand up at meetings and explain why they were unable to meet production goals. Managers were then entrusted with clearing all hurdles to achieving those goals. The Production Change Board (PCB) reviewed all engineering related change requests and assessed their cost and schedule impact. A feasible implementation approach was then developed for each approved request .By resorting to a wide variety of technical and human resource planning and coordination tools and strategies, Boeing was able to tackle the 767 development project
