SERICULTURE NOTES OF BIOFERTILIZERS FOR MULBERRY PLANTS.

2.  Chemical fertilizers are not suitable for agricultural
field.
 Eventhough we get good yield initially, later on it
shows its ill effect on the crop such as leaching out
and polluting water basins, distroying microorganisms,
reducing soil fertility etc.
 So the alternative is the usage of biofertilizer instead of
chemical fertilizer which help to increase the yield
without causing damage to crops

3.  The biofertilizer consisting biological wastes used to improve
the fertility of the soil.
 They do not contain any chemicals and beneficial in enriching
the soil by having mos, which produce organic nutrients to
the soil and prevent disease spreading.
AZOTOBACTER BIOFERTILIZER
It Is the bacterial preparation of live Azotobacter cells blended
with suitable carrier material like lignite in powdered form.
It is capable of supplying nitrogen to tne plants through
biological nit.fixation.
It enhances plant growth.
It is avaiable in small polythene packets weighing for about 150-
200g and can be easily handled.
It is an effective supplement to chemical fertilizer and it makes
sericulture more profitable.

4.  It reduces the ill effect of chemical fertilizers on soi health and also
reduces the water pollution from nitrate contamination through
leaching.

• It is the second most important plant nutrient next to nitrogen.
• The availability of applied phosphates is only 15-20%due to its
fixation in non available forms.

 It means fungus root.
 It is a symbiotic association between pant root
 Certain useful fungus forms vesicles and arbuscules in host root cells.
 It colonises the root of higher plants, especially under phosphorus
deficient conditions.
 It enhances the absorptive surface area of root systemsgreatly and
nourish the plants through other micro-nutrients and phosphorus.
 Inoculation of mulberry with certain mycorrhizal fungi is highly
beneficial.ex- Glomus mosseae and Glomus fasciculatum

• Only one inoculation is required.
• Root pathogens can be minimised.
