2. INTRODUCTION
It is a haemolytic disease of new born baby characterized by jaundice
and anaemia due to haemolysis. It is so named because of circulating
erythroblasts.
1.When an Rh+ man marries a Rh- women, the developing baby will be
Rh+.
2.The Rh+ baby developing in the uterus of Rh- mother develops
erythroblastosis foetalis.
3.The Rh antigen of the baby enters the blood of the mother. The blood
of the mother produces Rh antibody.
4. When this ab enters the foetus, the foetus is affected.
5.The Rh antibody destroys the RBC of the foetus.
6.The destruction of RBC leads to haemolytic jaundice and anaemia.
7.The dead RBCs are carried to liver for disintegration. As more work is
given to the liver, the liver is heavily damaged causing jaundice.
8.This causes the death of the baby.
