Classical Chinese Garden Of Suzhou And Japanese Dry...
The Interpretation of Nature in Classical Chinese Garden of Suzhou and Japanese Dry Landscape
Garden of Ryoan ji Luis Barragán, the influential Mexican minimalist architect and Pritzker Prize
winner once said that, In the creation of a garden, the architect invites the partnership of the Kingdom
of Nature. In a beautiful garden the majesty of nature is ever present, but it is nature reduced to human
proportions and thus transformed into the most efficient haven against the aggressiveness of
contemporary life. Such design principle, with a strong emphasis on the unity of man and nature as a
way to build freedom and independence in the natural environment of gardens away from the unrest
social political atmosphere, has not only been seen in Western minimalist architecture, but also has
been extensively utilized in Classical Asian architecture. Classical Chinese Garden of Suzhou and
Japanese Dry Landscape Garden are two typical examples that demonstrate such harmonious
coexistence between artificiality and nature. Thus, with a focus on a comparison between the selected
examples of Humble Administrator s Garden of Suzhou (see fig. 1) and Ryoan ji Dry Landscape
Garden (see fig. 2), this essay aims to analyze the design techniques of the two gardens and how they
respond to their social political and religious environments by conveying different interpretations of
nature. Garden of the Humble Administrator, which consists of numerous pavilions and bridges set

The Great War Propaganda
The Great War was not only fought with tanks, U boats, and trench warfare, but it was fought with
propaganda. Propaganda from both sides was used throughout the Great War to help try and shape the
opinions of each embattled nation. This total war did not only require strategic fighting on the
battlefield. It also required innovation and at times even deceptive propaganda. The British, Germans
and United States governments specifically, invested many of its resources into propaganda as a way
to increase recruitment numbers, build international support, and instill a sense of confidence in what
was the Great War. Countries had to not just focus their efforts on getting people from their own
country to support them, but also neutral countries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
War became no longer a battle of men, tanks, and weapons, but also a war of images, movies and
words between countries. Propaganda was widespread in how it was used and similarly, where it was
used. Of course, there is not a concrete yes or no answer about if propaganda changed the war s
outcome, that is forever unknown. However, what is clear is the profound influence propaganda had
during the war. Propaganda during the Great War was created to serve as a boost of morale, increase
recruitment, increase involvement on the home front, sway neutral countries, and to expose the enemy.
While both sides had their own methods of implementing propaganda, the one resounding similarity
was that both sides used deceit, censorship, and loose facts to try and sway the outcome in their favor.
In turn, propaganda was extremely influential and effective throughout the Great War and its
influence, both good and bad, is still prevalent in the creation of propaganda in the world

American Terrorism Environment Style Analysis
Terrorism, a very prevalent topic in today s society can be viewed in many different sectors,
depending on the actions taken by terrorist organizations. American Terrorism, Environment Style,
written by Doug Bandow, predominantly deliberates about the acts/ views of eco terrorism. With close
alliance to the title, the opening statement, Terrorists are loose in America eco terrorists (cite),
expresses the emergence of eco terrorism. Eco terrorism, according to the Federal Bureau, is the use or
threatened use of violence of a criminal nature against people or property by an environmentally
oriented subnational group for environmental political reasons or aimed at an audience beyond the
target, often of a symbolic nature (cite). The attacks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(ELF) and the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) have created damages worth up to 45 million dollars,
from incidents that date back to the 1996. ELF and ALF used arson, which started to kill people as
well as destroy property (cite). With no discouragement to the eco saboteurs, eco terrorism on the rise
is going to start killing people and destroying property. Humans, are part of one earth network

doing what they did not intend to do. Doug Bandow, a consequentialist philosopher, believes that
having a good outcome is caused because of a good action and vice versa, bad outcomes have bad
actions. Doug talks about the ALEC and how there is no fine line between judging actions that are
good or actions that are bad. Under a valid argument, of a conditional argument (modus ponens), it
can be concluded that, If ALEC conducted laws against eco terrorism, then there will be a decrease of
crimes. ALEC conducted laws against eco terrorism. Therefore, there is a decrease of eco terrorism
acts. As a character Doug Bandow can be seen as

Flory
Essay on Florianne by Daniel Woodrell
A horrific event may change life entirely. Even worse, an unsolved mystery regarding a loved one may
lead to despair and restrain a person from moving on. While knowing the truth may bring a feeling of
closure, inquietude and uneasiness may ensue uncertainty. The short story Florianne, written by Daniel
Woodrell, tells about a father whose entire life revolves around the mysterious disappearance of his
daughter. Even eleven years after she vanished he still hasn t begun to move on. Throughout the story
the reader may interpret the disappearance with different approaches. One may either assume that the
daughter was kidnapped, or that she ran away herself from her home and the small town life. The ...

Florianne comes from the word flora, which is the Latin word for flower. It s derived from the word
flos, with the meaning flower or blossom.. In the story there s described a change in Florianne s
character and behavior. The narrator says ... the girl ran to fat for so long, had a roly poly figure until
the year before she went gone...That meant so much to her, to finally have a figure clothes looked
good on (page 42, lines 4 10). Florianne blossomed before she vanished. Henry also blames Florianne
s weight gain on her mother while describing her figure as a roly poly figure. He s to some extent
(14:6) bullied Florianne and just a year before she disappeared she found the strength and
determination to change her body and her life. This course of action can be interpreted as... She gains
control over her life and in contrast to her father s self pity, she s going to take action over her fate,
just like her mother did.
Daniel Woodrell succeeds in creating a short story which forces the reader to consider different
scenarios. Paranoia and obsession are luring beneath the surface of a protagonist portrayed as a
desperate father unable to move on. Daniel Woodrell shows how a tragic event may consume a person
as well as leave said person in denial and without the opportunity to proceed. And while the upfront
possibility that the father is true in his assumption that his daughter was

Loss Of Government Revenue From Tobacco Taxes
1) Loss of government revenue
Another problem caused by these policies is the loss of government revenue from tobacco taxes.
According to a September 2013 report by the International Tax and Investment Center and Oxford
Economics (ITIC OE), In 2011, the Legal Domestic Sales of cigarettes fell by 80.6%, from 308
million cigarettes in 2010, to just 60 million cigarettes a year after the tax increase. Total Consumption
(legal and illicit) is estimated at 317.9 million cigarettes in 2013, down 9.5% from 2012. However,
only 2.4% or 7.7 million cigarettes constitute Legal Cigarettes Consumption. In 2013, excise tax loss
as a percentage of potential total excise tax revenues is estimated to be 99.6% (US$ 62 million) a rise
from 93.4% in 2012, the highest amongst the 14 Asia countries surveyed. Actual revenues from excise
duties fell from US$ 21,627906 in 2010 to US$ 233,000 in 2013.
However, the Thailand based Southeast Asia Tobacco market control Alliance (SEATCA) in a report
released in June 2014 said figures from the 2013 report of the International Tax and Investments
Centre and Oxford Economics (ITIC/OE) in September 2013 grossly overestimated its numbers and
was based on flawed research methodologies. SEATCA had also pointed out that the ITIC OE report
was funded by Phillip Morris International. Regardless of the numbers, there is consensus that there is
a causation effect of the drastic tax hike which prompts Brunei s legal cigarette sales to plummet to
almost none,

Robbie. When she is near the temple to such after the twins, something is moving in the bush behind
her. She is turning around and a short time after this a figure is running out of the bush and something
else that sounds like Lola is calling for help name. Briony is running to her and is saying that she saw
Lola being assaulted. Lola doesn t answer Briony on her question. Briony is sure that the figure who
she saw was Robbie. Briony tried to bring Lola at home, but Lola is very weak from this what

because she can t believe the story from her sister. In the living room is everyone waiting for Robbie.
Briony get the letter out of Cecilia s room and is showing it the policeman, Leon an her mom Emily.
Cecilia is angry about it and will that they stop to read her letter. Emily is saying to Cecilia that she
could prevent that if she had shown the letter earlier. In the morning Robbie is coming back whit the
twins. Everyone is happy that the twins are back. The policeman is taking Robbie in the car and they
are driving away. I am pretty sure that Briony is lying about what she saw and that Robbie didn t do
anything. I like the part in the book were Briony is telling the story to everyone and that more and
more people believe her story because you can see on this part how fast spread rumor. I think that is a
good example that you should always say the truth. I think that Briony didn t tell the truth in this part
and that she just said this because she didn t like Robbie. I am very excited how the story will go

Bali 9 Clock Ticks Analysis
Written by Cindy Wockner, the Bali 9 Clock Ticks newspaper article appearing in the Herald Sun
serves as a neat, professional update on the predicament of Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan.
Written in typical newspaper fashion, the article underlies themes of desperation, hopelessness and
fear in a detached string of paragraphs. The article catches our attention with a suspenseful, desperate
title Bali 9 Clock Ticks. The phrase Clock Ticks paints a picture in our minds of time running out, and
having to do something drastic before it s too late. This theme of despair is continuously highlighted
throughout the text through phrases such as all but in their executioners crosshairs , effectively signing
his death warrant , the end is nigh , and quickly running out of options . The audience ... Show more

Wockner is subtly showing us the unjustness of the legal system, in the example of a woman who was

Neorealism Movement In Cinema
Italian Neorealism, French New Wave Directors, and Dogme 95 filmmakers were three very important
movements in cinema. The first very movement was called neorealism which lasted from 1944 1952
and reacted to the dominant mode of Italian cinema which was based on a fascist regime but also dealt
with the socio economic conditions from post world war 2 in Italy. The second movement began
around 1958 and was called the French new wave directors and reacted against the industries lack of
quality and directors small participation in vision. In 1955 the third wave called Dogme 95 films
began and was a movement that was against the big budget Hollywood films and use of special
effects.
The origin of Italian Neorealism began after the fall of Mussolini s Fascist regime in 1943 and the end
of World War 2. Now being free from fascist censorship Italian directors were able to blend cinematic
realism with social and political problems facing Italy which would have never been allowed earlier.
The term neorealism was first used by film critic Antonio Pietrangeli towards Luchino Visconti s film
Ossessione. The French New Wave was started by five French film enthusiast: André Bazin, Jean Luc
Godard, Claude Chabrol, François Truffaut, Jacques Rivette who wrote and discuss cinema because
they lacked the money to create films themselves. They talked about how movies have become stale
due to the lack of innovation in the industry and decided to create their own original formats, such

Difficult To Amend The Constitution In The United States
The founding fathers made it so difficult to amend the constitution for numerous reasons. The most
obvious being that it was considered a safe guard for the Americans. It was meant to protect the people
from tyranny. They wanted to insure no one can just come in and amend it without thinking of the
common good of the people. The document was so very well written and thought out, they knew that
they wouldn t need many add ins. To make the process complicated means that if what the future
government wanted to change was that necessary, it would find its way to be decided, voted on, and
added in.
There are many benefits for the purpose of making the constitution so complicated to amend. They
wanted to ensure that both parties could decide on

Human Nature In Gilgamesh
In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh was mostly divine but shared minimal characteristics of a god.
Such characteristics were bold physical structures and the strength of a wild bull which he inherited
from his mother, Ninsun, the cow goddess. Everything else such as his characteristics, mentality, and
actions mirrors ours, humans which makes him more like us than a god. His actions portray the burden
of the flawed human nature that we all carry such as being aggressive, competitive, and running away
from our fears.
Initially, Gilgamesh was known as the tortuous, accomplished, and competitive king of Uruk who
drove people out of their sanity and sought trouble. He frequently held competitions to determine the

Furthermore, by agreeing to bet his life on the success of his quest, Gilgamesh reveals the desire for
being remembered by humans which are specified in the statement, I must set my hand to cutting a
cedar tree, I must establish eternal fame (II. 189 190). Being famous is not a necessity, but a want. It s
just the nature of human to not be satisfied with anything that we have. Something deep inside us
always desires for more. Gilgamesh was the king of Uruk, instead of creating the reputation of a kind,
considerate, generous king, he decided to slay a tremendous monster and tried to impress others
instead. It s the most common mistake that we humans always make. We tend to be so busy
impressing others and striving for their cheers with such frequency, that we forget to be ourselves and
think before we act.We often feel self conscious and inferior to ourselves after we experience failure,
which we fail to tolerate. Impressing others and having the ought to be seen in a positive perspective is
what makes us compete against one another which might not always be morally right. Sometimes it s
better to be the best together rather than ruining relationships due to the consequence of proving to the
world that you re finessed. Gilgamesh harassing young girls and women of his kingdom implies that it
s also an aspect of the human nature to be aggressive and compel others to do something for their
favor. Although we are known to be the only

No Real Hero In Maus II
The Impact Of Past Events On The Present: No Real Hero in Maus Maus I and Maus II are graphic
novels written by Art Spiegelman which both make up a good story as well as attempt to understand
the human condition, sort it out and put it in its place. Lynda Barry, the author of One Hundred
Demons suggests that literature helps us to cope as if looking at our demons is a way to get to know
them, to befriend them and even master them. The story explores the nature of guilt, while exploring
traumatic events of the Holocaust through a survivor. This graphic novel also explores the impact of
the Holocaust and how it affected the lives of people who were born after it ended. Once reading
Maus I and Maus II, it becomes evident to the reader that there is no real hero in this story due to the

The First Path Of Formation Of The Kazakh Diaspora
Repression was blown to frightening enormous proportions. Repressions even reached the traditional
knowledge holders Kazakh shamans baksi , which J. Assmann calls special carriers of cultural
memory [13].
During this period, the trend of migration had been strengthened, and about a million ethnic Kazakhs
was forced to migrate from their historic homeland to neighboring countries. It was the first path of
formation of the Kazakh Diaspora, but there was also a second way: creation of state borders
separated part of the kazakh people and made it difficult to communicate with the main ethnic masses
[14], this process in science is called irredentism [15]. Thus, in the second half of the XIX century
after the establishment of the Russian Chinese border part of Kazakhs who had been wintering in the
former Qing Empire territory was in the allegiance of China. Subsequently, in 1916 after the
suppression of the anti colonial rebellion in 1932 1934. During dispossession, collectivisation and
famine some Kazakh tribes migrated from Kazakhstan to Xinjiang and took Chinese citizenship [16].
The main concentration of the Kazakh migrant fell on Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Turkey,
Mongolia and China.
Due to the special historical and political circumstances, one nation was artificially split into two parts
repatriates and local , which naturally provoke the break of once united culture in two, conventionally
called oralman and local culture. Both of these

Looking Down At The Bottom Looking Up
Looking Down Standing at the bottom looking up, there seems to be countless stairs which seem
impossible to overcome. Yet, knowing the long trip that is ahead will be worth the breathtaking site
which awaits at the top. So you set out, determined to climb the top of this magnificent hill. Walking
up the stairs is like walking up the stairways to heaven, a long trip but beautiful once you arrive. Once
passing the six flights of stairs, you still do not arrive. There is still a long path ahead of you. Hiking at
a sixty degree angle all the way to the top stepping over countless rocks and pipes up the dusty trail.
The nature around reminds you that fall is on its way. With dying plants and grass all around, and the
leaves on the trees starting to change color. As you push yourself higher and higher up the hill, the
temperature slowly continues to drop. Slowly the beautiful sight you have in store starts to become
visible. Once finally arriving to the top from the trip that seemed to have taken so much longer then
have thought, stretched before you is a sight so beautiful, it takes one s breath away. Once to the top
there is no one around. The few people that are visible are just the cars and people walking down
sidewalks far below. The only sounds are the faint sounds of the city; dogs barking, cars traveling past,
birds chirping, and the chiming of the hour of the large clock on campus. The mind is instantly cleared
and it feels as though there are no worries in the world.

Quebec City Research Paper
So I`ve finally left Quebec and I am currently in Scottsdale, Arizona. However, I felt I needed to do
one more article on Quebec that covers some of the amazing places you need to go and checkout
outside of the city. One of the best ways to check out the countryside is to rent a car or take a tour.
Renting a car is nice because it gives you the choice to decide where you want to go and how long you
want to be somewhere. The road signs in written in French can be intimidating for some though,
especially without someone helping you navigate. We opted for a tour because we liked the structure
and didn`t have to worry about getting lost. So without further ado let s jump in!
My favorite place outside of Quebec city has to be Montmorency Falls. Montmorency Falls are taller
than Niagra Falls by about thirty meters, but Niagra Falls is wider. I personally love Montmorency
because of the suspension bridge right above the falls which give you an amazing view of the
waterfall itself and of Quebec City. After you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Half an hour outside of Quebec lies the Complexe Capitale Helicoptere which is home to a company

(just to make everything clear I am not being compensated at all by these guys, I just think they were
truly terrific and the tour was amazing). You can either take a fiveteen minute flight or a thirty minute
one. We opted for the thirty minute flight. You start your adventure with a quick safety video and then
you head out to the helicopter! The Robinson 44 we flew in was a little cramped for the four of us but
the experience was awesome. Take off was exhilarating and I was surprised by how much side to side
movement we had when gaining altitude. Once we had reached our final altitude of fifteen hundred
meters we were treated with some of the most spectacular views ever. I loved every

Good Vs Evil In Beowulf
The constant battle between good and evil rages still rages. Good rests upon a pedestal, surrounded by
the amazing holy light from above. It remains in the positive light, often being looked up to and
sometimes even applauded. On the other hand, evil fails to maintain the same respect and honor as
good. Evil remains surrounded by the darkness. It lingers around every corner, waiting for the next
chance to seduce anyones mind and soul at any given moment. It waits for the chance to bring havoc
into one s life ,but right as the chance comes, good emerges from the distance, right on time to
interfere with the evil scheme. The battle between good and evil never ends and becomes more violent
as each day passes. It occurs everywhere and all the time. The constant battle of good versus evil
remains proven by the epic poem Beowulf, the poem Good Vs Evil which shows the ongoing battle,
and the Holy Bible that shows evidence that this battle of good and evil has always existed. The epic
poem Beowulf contains a courageous hero. He embodies the side of good and epitomizes the
characteristics of a hero. He runs into multiple perilous battles against gruesome monsters. These
monsters include ones such as Grendel, Grendel s Mother, and the fire breathing dragon. The monsters
symbolize a life filled with darkness, evil, and sin. The first monster Beowulf comes to slaughter goes
by the name of Grendel. He was a [monster] born of cain, murderous creatures banished by God (20

Concrete Nouns
Concrete nouns can be physically touched and detailed. Concrete nouns can also have different
meanings to anyone that reads them, looks at them, or touches them. A story is created by a series of
concrete nouns coming together.
First, my favorite concreate noun is heart. Heart is my favorite because the heart feels love or feels
broken. The heart is also what you would use for passion and most people would listen to their heart
to decide whether their action or emotion is right or wrong.
Secondly, the heart works for me because I try to listen to my heart as frequently as I can. My heart
has the intentions to make me happy and show me who I truly care about. the heart also works for
everyone else because everyone has a heart to use, but it might also express emotions differently from
somebody else. The heart is also relatable when in a discussion because it is experienced by
everybody in different ways. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Lastly, I think the point of this activity was to build a bigger picture with the small subjects given.
This will help me become a better writer by assisting me by looking at the bigger picture and by

Morality of Today Essay
Olympian morality was potent in ancient Greek society yet it is incomplete by today s moral standards
of what is acceptable. Modern morality is not only taught through actions, stories or experiences
however constructed by the feelings within. In both, The Iliad and the Hesiod, external actions are the
most important however, without logos, a look into the soul no decisions are made by choice. Eris, the
force of pulling apart and Eros, the force of pushing together were vital pieces in the aspect of
morality through traditional Greek society. Ancient morality combined with natural science and logos
creates a balance that allows for perfect moral structure. Olympian morality was built upon the aspect
that the Gods determined human existence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socrates believed that justice and desire could not be determined without reason and logic (Reno).
Going along with Socrates ideas, Eris and Eros can be confined in the soul but the structure of
Olympian morality will never be destroyed. Destroying Eris would also destroy Eros and not only
would no bad exist, but nothing good would exist either. Therefore the Sophist s mentality could never
become the mentality in which society is driven by. If all good and bad were removed from society
there would be nothing to fuel desires, hopes, dreams, hardships or emotions. Preluding to the Trojan
War, Helen is always property. Never once is choice an option of Helens. She is given as a prize, a
trophy, to the one who will triumph over the other (Homer). No one considered asking Helen what she
truly desired; therefore to settle the issue, men were killed in warfare to come to a conclusion that
should have been determined by choice. Women were not deemed important figures in ancient society
and men ruled the world in which they lived. Until Socratic ideals, one can say that women were only
the property of men. Socrates tried to explore the world of femininity and discover the soul; he was
killed for believing that there is more to an individual then what the divine interprets (Plato s
Apology). Unlike ancient times, a war of nations would not break out over a romantic conflict because
women and men can choose whom they love. Logic has allowed modern

Changing Role Of Women During World War II
Changing Role of Women in World War II
When Britain declared war against Germany in 1939, the Australian Prime Minister, Robert Menzies,
proclaimed that Australia was also at war. The declaration of war saw Australians respond to another
world conflict. On this occasion, Australia itself would be under the threat of attack. World War II
would not only require young men to travel overseas and fight but it also significantly impacted the
lives of Australian women. The contribution Australian women made towards the war effort and their
roles on the Homefront and overseas was a vital part of Australian History. Australian women had a
range of duties and responsibilities they were encouraged to perform. Since most men had to go

However, through this experience, women bought long term changes and they had the chance to
experience independence which allowed them to discover life long skills. This was one of their many
achievements which eventually changed the modern society. As seen in Appendix 1, the AWLA
received the newly created Civilian Service Medal 1939 1945 due to their support of the war effort.
This undoubtedly indicates that these women were the start of an alteration in Australia for the long
term, due to their struggle and achievement.
Women in World War II started replacing men in traditional roles, which proved to society that women
were capable of work reserved for men. Due to labour shortages and the need for men to fight
overseas, the government was forced to allow women to take a more active role. Women had a broad
range of duties and responsibilities, most women were trained in many of the home front tasks,
subsequently, that more service men could be freed to join the overseas forces, this created new
employment opportunities for women (Carrodus et al, 2012, p. 113). Tens of thousands of women
joined the Women s Air Force, Naval and Army Services during World War II. (Big Black Dog
Communications Pty Ltd, et al, 2009). As seen Appendix 2, women in the services were significant as
they were beginning to perform all types of work, from intelligence officers to drivers, typists and
cooks, to wireless telegraphists and aircraft ground staff. To go from being dependent on

I m not knowledgeable about the inner workings of car dealerships. I only know of them through my

maintain a customer base. The best way I know of doing that is through customer service, which
unfortunately is given much lip service, but not much actual practice in my experience. My last car
purchase was from a company that invited new car buyers to a catered supper within three months
after the purchase. It seemed like an expensive perk to offer customers, but it was easy to see how it
improved customer relations. During the program, the service manager gave several tips about

fastest growing sectors in Indian Economy and have awesome potential for sustained future growth.
Mutual funds make saving and investing simple, accessible, and affordable. The advantages of mutual

Investor plans for long horizon after considering the fundamental factors and assumes moderate risk.
The main objectives of rational investors are maximizing returns and minimizing risk, safety of the
principal, tradability and liquidity are his subsidiary objectives. Financial instruments can be
categorized by form depending on whether they are cash instruments or derivative
instruments: Cash instruments are financial instruments whose value is determined directly by
markets. They can be divided into securities, which are readily transferable, and other cash
instruments such as loans and deposits, where both borrower and lender have to agree on a transfer.
Derivative instruments are financial instruments which derive their value from the value and
characteristics of one or more underlying entities such as an asset, index, or interest rate. They can be
divided into exchangetraded derivatives and over the counter (OTC) derivatives. Alternatively,
financial instruments can be categorized by asset class depending on whether they are equity based
(reflecting ownership of the issuing entity) or debt based (reflecting a loan the investor has made to
the issuing entity). If it is debt, it can be further categorized into short term (less than one year) or long
term. Foreign Exchange instruments and transactions are neither debt nor equity based and belong in
their own category. A legal document such as a

Examples Of Doublethink In 1984
People in power rely on psychological manipulation to suppress others and control them. Propaganda
is the centerpiece to controlling the citizens of Oceania. This propaganda raises morale of the citizens
and brainwashes them into the party s ideals. The party uses doublethink to change the truth and alter
history to control the perception their citizens have. A good example of doublethink is the party slogan
WAR IS PEACE. FREEDOM IS SLAVERY. IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH. (George Orwell, 4). The
slogan tells the people that they already have what they want, by staying ignorant they will be strong,
and that seeking freedom will make them slaves. The party convinces them that what they have is a
utopia and therefore will not rebel. The party also uses

Wallstreet the Movie
The movie Wall Street is a representation of poor morals and disappointing business ethics in the
popular world of business. This movie shows the negative effects that bad business morals can have
on society. The two main characters are Bud Fox played by Charlie Sheen and Gordon Gekko played
by Michael Douglas. Bud Fox is a young stockbroker who comes from an honest working class family
but on the other hand, Gordon Gekko is a millionaire who Bud admires and wants to be associated
with. Greed seems to be a huge theme of this movie. This movie portrays the unethical society we live
in. It shows how money oriented society has become and that people will do almost anything to get

Then along with contacts obtained from Bud s years as a stockbroker the shares of Blue Star soar.
When they reach a peak Bud has everyone sell including this investor and Gordon Gekko panics as he
watches his shares of Blue Star drop like a rock. He sells quickly and takes a big loss. However this
changes when Gekko decides to do a corporate raid on Fox s father s company. At this point Bud Fox
must choose between the rich insider s lifestyle offered by working outside the law, or his father s
more traditional blue collar values of fair play and hard work. He chooses to try and preserve the latter
by utilizing what he has learned from Gekko.
To achieve this Bud uses a business rival to break the deal, being indicted for insider trading in the
process. He gets his last revenge by turning state s evidence against Gekko, going to jail himself in the
process.
It is in ones opinion that the movie Wall Street shows the very importantance of the value of
information. If inside information is used to predict stock outcomes it becomes unfair and unjust to
persons without the information. That s why it is illegal. You should not be able to manipulate the
market with information that is not open to the public. The film also showed what can happen if you
practice poor ethics when conducting business, practicing good business ethics helps to accomplish
your goals. Wall Street shows just what can happen

Disadvantages of Helicopter Parenting Essay example
Helicopter Parenting
How does a person grow up to be who they are? Most people say it is determined by the way their
parents raise them. The parents that hover close and the parents that give their children space will have
children with complete opposite characteristics. Parents that hover close are referred to as Helicopter
Parents, and children that are given a lot of space are called Free Range Kids (Rutherford). Although
these styles of parenting are vastly different, both kinds of parents are trying to do what is best for
their child. Of the two parenting types, helicopter parenting is looked at as a worse method for
parenting. There are more negative aspects of it then there are positive. Not only do helicopter parents

What may be the most noticeable characteristic of these parents is their over involvement in their child
s academics. They see their child s school work and academic activities as something that is for the
child and parent together instead of for the child alone (How Not to Be a Helicopter Parent).
Therefore, when the child does not do well on any given thing, the parent feels guilty as if it were their
fault that the child failed (How Not to Be a Helicopter Parent).
The over involvement of parents can make the child develop psychological issues. They are shown to
have a higher risk of depression, anxiety, lack self confidence, and have low self esteem ( Helicopter
Parents Stir Up Anxiety, Depression). It is shown that no matter what parenting technique is being
used, every parents goal is to build their child s self esteem (Rutherford). Sadly, helicopter parenting
does the exact opposite. Equally important, the persons lack of self confidence comes from the over
involvement of their parents in his/her childhood activities and academics. They never experienced
failure or loss because the parents were always there to step in, so they never achieved anything to
build their confidence ( Helicopter Parents Stir Up Anxiety, Depression). It is common for a child with
helicopter parents to develop depression when moving from their home to

the lower end hotels have only the specific hotel name on them (Pashia, 2012). Marriott International
has many different brands including: the Ritz Carlton, Renaissance hotels, AC hotels, JW Marriott,

NBA Salary Cap System
In January 2015, Forbes Magazine reported that the Los Angeles Lakers franchise had an estimated
$293 million dollars in the NBA fiscal financial year. However, Forbes also reported that the Los
Angeles Lakers spent just $89 million dollars in player contracts, which is just one million shy from
the NBA s max allowed in the Salary Cap system (Forbes). Should there be an overall cap on how
much a NBA team can spend on a player contract? This will be the main topic in the coming NBA

In the 2011 season, Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls and the NBA s reigning Most Valuable Player
earned just $5.5 million because of the salary scale restriction in place. His team however earned an
estimated $169 million in profit (ESPN). With the NBA signing a new $24 billion deal with Disney
and Turner, to start in 2016, the idea of a marquee player getting paid so little should soon be an
afterthought in the NBA. Teams are expected to make much more in revenue because of the deals. TV
deals of such magnitude would not be possible without the talent and the hard work of the NBA
players who fans tune in to watch. NBA players are unacceptably underpaid in the current salary cap
system and a players overall value to a franchise is often distorted.
In an open market players would be allowed to make their true value. In the current NBA Salary Cap
system LeBron James, arguably the most popular figure in sports, only made $64 million over a four
year span. ESPN Sports Business Reporter Darren Rovell, estimates that in an open market LeBron
James overall value to his team once ticket sales, sponsorship deals, merchandise sales, and television
deals are factored in, would be about $161.3 over three years. Rovell also states that since LeBron s
arrival in Miami he helped them jump from a middle of the road team in terms of gate revenue to a top

The Notebook is a phenomenal film with incredible performances and many heartfelt moments from

recent times at a Nursing home with the introduction of an elderly lady (Gena Rowlands) who is being

there to read her a story. He begins to read about a young girl named Allie (Rachel McAdams) who

The film?s setting was in present and past scenarios, which made it very interesting. As the old man
Duke read the story, in a past plot, and the story began to climax, he would be interrupted by someone
in the nursing staff, bringing them back to the present. This lineup of events leads to a sense of
curiosity as I began to wonder what these two plots have in relation. This curiosity will soon be
fulfilled as the story develops, and the two plots start to intertwine. The director of this film did a
fantastic job in combining these two plots, and giving the audience just enough time to figure out their
relation. He didn?t give it away too soon, or so late that the story got boring or confusing. He also
made very good use of underscoring (background music with no apparent source) in a previous scene
where Allie and Noah where dancing alone in the middle on nowhere, to the sounds of Billie Holiday.
This particular shot was a three minute continuous shot taken with a camera on a 300ft dolly track.
The actors and actresses in this film did a remarkable job in playing their roles. The language and
wardrobe fit the perfect description of a 40?s teenager. Now, this is what I call a love story. Based on
the novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook is most definitely the way a love story should be. This
story doesn?t just say happily ever after at the end, it actually takes you there. Works Cited The

The Interpretation of Nature in Classical Chinese Garden of Suzhou and Japanese Dry Landscape Garden of Ryoan ji Luis Barragán, the influential Mexican minimalist architect and Pritzker Prize winner once said that, In the creation of a garden, the architect invites the partnership of the Kingdom of Nature. In a beautiful garden the majesty of nature is ever present, but it is nature reduced to human proportions and thus transformed into the most efficient haven against the aggressiveness of contemporary life. Such design principle, with a strong emphasis on the unity of man and nature as a way to build freedom and independence in the natural environment of gardens away from the unrest social political atmosphere, has not only been seen in Western minimalist architecture, but also has been extensively utilized in Classical Asian architecture. War became no longer a battle of men, tanks, and weapons, but also a war of images, movies and words between countries. Propaganda was widespread in how it was used and similarly, where it was used. Of course, there is not a concrete yes or no answer about if propaganda changed the war s outcome, that is forever unknown. However, what is clear is the profound influence propaganda had during the war. Propaganda during the Great War was created to serve as a boost of morale, increase recruitment, increase involvement on the home front, sway neutral countries, and to expose the enemy. While both sides had their own methods of implementing propaganda, the one resounding similarity was that both sides used deceit, censorship, and loose facts to try and sway the outcome in their favor. In turn, propaganda was extremely influential and effective throughout the Great War and its influence, both good and bad, is still prevalent in the creation of propaganda in the world ... • 8. Flory Essay on Florianne by Daniel Woodrell A horrific event may change life entirely. Even worse, an unsolved mystery regarding a loved one may lead to despair and restrain a person from moving on. While knowing the truth may bring a feeling of closure, inquietude and uneasiness may ensue uncertainty. The short story Florianne, written by Daniel Woodrell, tells about a father whose entire life revolves around the mysterious disappearance of his daughter. Even eleven years after she vanished he still hasn t begun to move on. Throughout the story the reader may interpret the disappearance with different approaches. One may either assume that the daughter was kidnapped, or that she ran away herself from her home and the small town life. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Florianne comes from the word flora, which is the Latin word for flower. It s derived from the word flos, with the meaning flower or blossom.. In the story there s described a change in Florianne s character and behavior. The narrator says ... the girl ran to fat for so long, had a roly poly figure until the year before she went gone...That meant so much to her, to finally have a figure clothes looked good on (page 42, lines 4 10). Florianne blossomed before she vanished. Henry also blames Florianne s weight gain on her mother while describing her figure as a roly poly figure. He s to some extent (14:6) bullied Florianne and just a year before she disappeared she found the strength and determination to change her body and her life. This course of action can be interpreted as... She gains control over her life and in contrast to her father s self pity, she s going to take action over her fate, just like her mother did. Daniel Woodrell succeeds in creating a short story which forces the reader to consider different scenarios. Paranoia and obsession are luring beneath the surface of a protagonist portrayed as a desperate father unable to move on. Daniel Woodrell shows how a tragic event may consume a person as well as leave said person in denial and without the opportunity to proceed. And while the upfront possibility that the father is true in his assumption that his daughter was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Total Consumption (legal and illicit) is estimated at 317.9 million cigarettes in 2013, down 9.5% from 2012. However, only 2.4% or 7.7 million cigarettes constitute Legal Cigarettes Consumption. In 2013, excise tax loss as a percentage of potential total excise tax revenues is estimated to be 99.6% (US$ 62 million) a rise from 93.4% in 2012, the highest amongst the 14 Asia countries surveyed. Actual revenues from excise duties fell from US$ 21,627906 in 2010 to US$ 233,000 in 2013. However, the Thailand based Southeast Asia Tobacco market control Alliance (SEATCA) in a report released in June 2014 said figures from the 2013 report of the International Tax and Investments Centre and Oxford Economics (ITIC/OE) in September 2013 grossly overestimated its numbers and was based on flawed research methodologies. Gilgamesh was the king of Uruk, instead of creating the reputation of a kind, considerate, generous king, he decided to slay a tremendous monster and tried to impress others instead. It s the most common mistake that we humans always make. Repressions even reached the traditional knowledge holders Kazakh shamans baksi , which J. Assmann calls special carriers of cultural memory [13]. During this period, the trend of migration had been strengthened, and about a million ethnic Kazakhs was forced to migrate from their historic homeland to neighboring countries. It was the first path of formation of the Kazakh Diaspora, but there was also a second way: creation of state borders separated part of the kazakh people and made it difficult to communicate with the main ethnic masses [14], this process in science is called irredentism [15]. Thus, in the second half of the XIX century after the establishment of the Russian Chinese border part of Kazakhs who had been wintering in the former Qing Empire territory was in the allegiance of China. Evil remains surrounded by the darkness. It lingers around every corner, waiting for the next chance to seduce anyones mind and soul at any given moment. Eris, the force of pulling apart and Eros, the force of pushing together were vital pieces in the aspect of morality through traditional Greek society. Therefore the Sophist s mentality could never become the mentality in which society is driven by. If all good and bad were removed from society there would be nothing to fuel desires, hopes, dreams, hardships or emotions. Preluding to the Trojan War, Helen is always property. Never once is choice an option of Helens. She is given as a prize, a trophy, to the one who will triumph over the other (Homer). • 28. I M Not Knowledgeable About The Inner Workings Of Car... I m not knowledgeable about the inner workings of car dealerships. I only know of them through my experience as a consumer, but it seems obvious to me that the way to survive this recession is to maintain a customer base. The best way I know of doing that is through customer service, which unfortunately is given much lip service, but not much actual practice in my experience. My last car purchase was from a company that invited new car buyers to a catered supper within three months after the purchase. It seemed like an expensive perk to offer customers, but it was easy to see how it improved customer relations. During the program, the service manager gave several tips about maintaining the new cars, maintenance schedules and several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Financial instruments can be categorized by form depending on whether they are cash instruments or derivative instruments: Cash instruments are financial instruments whose value is determined directly by markets. They can be divided into securities, which are readily transferable, and other cash instruments such as loans and deposits, where both borrower and lender have to agree on a transfer. Derivative instruments are financial instruments which derive their value from the value and characteristics of one or more underlying entities such as an asset, index, or interest rate. They can be divided into exchangetraded derivatives and over the counter (OTC) derivatives. This propaganda raises morale of the citizens and brainwashes them into the party s ideals. The party uses doublethink to change the truth and alter history to control the perception their citizens have. A good example of doublethink is the party slogan WAR IS PEACE. FREEDOM IS SLAVERY. IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH. (George Orwell, 4). The slogan tells the people that they already have what they want, by staying ignorant they will be strong, and that seeking freedom will make them slaves. The party convinces them that what they have is a utopia and therefore will not rebel. The party also uses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Wallstreet the Movie The movie Wall Street is a representation of poor morals and disappointing business ethics in the popular world of business. This movie shows the negative effects that bad business morals can have on society. The two main characters are Bud Fox played by Charlie Sheen and Gordon Gekko played by Michael Douglas. Bud Fox is a young stockbroker who comes from an honest working class family but on the other hand, Gordon Gekko is a millionaire who Bud admires and wants to be associated with. Greed seems to be a huge theme of this movie. This movie portrays the unethical society we live in. It shows how money oriented society has become and that people will do almost anything to get ahead. Competitiveness has become such a widespread game all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then along with contacts obtained from Bud s years as a stockbroker the shares of Blue Star soar. When they reach a peak Bud has everyone sell including this investor and Gordon Gekko panics as he watches his shares of Blue Star drop like a rock. He sells quickly and takes a big loss. However this changes when Gekko decides to do a corporate raid on Fox s father s company. At this point Bud Fox must choose between the rich insider s lifestyle offered by working outside the law, or his father s more traditional blue collar values of fair play and hard work. He chooses to try and preserve the latter by utilizing what he has learned from Gekko. To achieve this Bud uses a business rival to break the deal, being indicted for insider trading in the process. He gets his last revenge by turning state s evidence against Gekko, going to jail himself in the process. It is in ones opinion that the movie Wall Street shows the very importantance of the value of information. If inside information is used to predict stock outcomes it becomes unfair and unjust to persons without the information. That s why it is illegal. You should not be able to manipulate the market with information that is not open to the public. The film also showed what can happen if you practice poor ethics when conducting business, practicing good business ethics helps to accomplish your goals. Wall Street shows just what can happen ... • 33. Disadvantages of Helicopter Parenting Essay example Helicopter Parenting How does a person grow up to be who they are? Most people say it is determined by the way their parents raise them. The parents that hover close and the parents that give their children space will have children with complete opposite characteristics. Parents that hover close are referred to as Helicopter Parents, and children that are given a lot of space are called Free Range Kids (Rutherford). Although these styles of parenting are vastly different, both kinds of parents are trying to do what is best for their child. Of the two parenting types, helicopter parenting is looked at as a worse method for parenting. There are more negative aspects of it then there are positive. Not only do helicopter parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What may be the most noticeable characteristic of these parents is their over involvement in their child s academics. They see their child s school work and academic activities as something that is for the child and parent together instead of for the child alone (How Not to Be a Helicopter Parent). Therefore, when the child does not do well on any given thing, the parent feels guilty as if it were their fault that the child failed (How Not to Be a Helicopter Parent). The over involvement of parents can make the child develop psychological issues. They are shown to have a higher risk of depression, anxiety, lack self confidence, and have low self esteem ( Helicopter Parents Stir Up Anxiety, Depression). It is shown that no matter what parenting technique is being used, every parents goal is to build their child s self esteem (Rutherford). Sadly, helicopter parenting does the exact opposite. Equally important, the persons lack of self confidence comes from the over involvement of their parents in his/her childhood activities and academics. They never experienced failure or loss because the parents were always there to step in, so they never achieved anything to build their confidence ( Helicopter Parents Stir Up Anxiety, Depression). However, Forbes also reported that the Los Angeles Lakers spent just $89 million dollars in player contracts, which is just one million shy from the NBA s max allowed in the Salary Cap system (Forbes). Should there be an overall cap on how much a NBA team can spend on a player contract? In the 2011 season, Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls and the NBA s reigning Most Valuable Player earned just $5.5 million because of the salary scale restriction in place. His team however earned an estimated $169 million in profit (ESPN). With the NBA signing a new $24 billion deal with Disney and Turner, to start in 2016, the idea of a marquee player getting paid so little should soon be an afterthought in the NBA. The story unfolds in recent times at a Nursing home with the introduction of an elderly lady (Gena Rowlands) who is being visited by an old man, known as Duke (James Garner), who also resides in the nursing home, and he s there to read her a story. He begins to read about a young girl named Allie (Rachel McAdams) who was visiting a cousin one summer in the late 1940s. As the old man Duke read the story, in a past plot, and the story began to climax, he would be interrupted by someone in the nursing staff, bringing them back to the present. This lineup of events leads to a sense of curiosity as I began to wonder what these two plots have in relation. This curiosity will soon be fulfilled as the story develops, and the two plots start to intertwine. The director of this film did a fantastic job in combining these two plots, and giving the audience just enough time to figure out their relation. He didn?t give it away too soon, or so late that the story got boring or confusing. He also made very good use of underscoring (background music with no apparent source) in a previous scene where Allie and Noah where dancing alone in the middle on nowhere, to the sounds of Billie Holiday. This particular shot was a three minute continuous shot taken with a camera on a 300ft dolly track. The actors and actresses in this film did a remarkable job in playing their roles.
