For our PollDaddy questionnaire we asked the question about the type of clothes our artist
should wear and then included a photo of the artist of the song we are using, K.Flay. 9/10
people said we should style our artist in similar casual clothing. We will probably end up doing
this or alternating a little to make her slightly more alternative. Our audience also prefered the
idea of having a mixture of performance and narrative so we will probably comply and keep our
video a mixture of the two. 100% of our polldaddy results showed that the audience would like
the video to match up to the lyrics of the song which we will also do. Our influence for making
her a little more alternative looking is that the majority of our audience wanted her to look ‘edgy’
so we wanted to take some influence from this and keep her looking casual and alternative as it
was a common association to that genre of music. Our audience wanted us to cut to the beat of
the song as we feel like it will give the video greater structure and make it seem more
professional. For lighting the results were a bit more varied with the audience torn between both
high and low key lighting as well as just low key lighting. For our video we might have a slight
mixture of the two but it'll predominantly be low key lighting. We will mainly focus on the
narrative as our polldaddy results show this as well as our audience feedback showed that
narrative was an important aspect, especially if it was easy and understandable. Our audience
also liked the idea of hand drawn graphics such as the scribble effect. We think this would be a
good idea as it would be more entertaining for the audience and captivate them more.
Our second set of audience research compared the two music videos Blood In A Cut by K.Flay
and Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift. Two thirds of the audience prefered K.Flay’s
video. The main reasons were the plot and the lighting and special effects.They prefered the low
key lighting as they felt it was more ominous and was more fitting to the music. They also felt
that the plot was easy to understand and straightforward. They felt the Taylor Swift video had
too many narrative aspects and it soon became too complicated to understand so liked the
simplicity of the other video. They also like the visual floating effect of K.Flay’s video which has
inspired us to put greater focus of visual effects.

For our PollDaddy questionnaire we asked the question about the type of clothes our artist should wear and then included a photo of the artist of the song we are using, K.Flay. 9/10 people said we should style our artist in similar casual clothing. We will probably end up doing this or alternating a little to make her slightly more alternative. Our audience also prefered the idea of having a mixture of performance and narrative so we will probably comply and keep our video a mixture of the two. 100% of our polldaddy results showed that the audience would like the video to match up to the lyrics of the song which we will also do. Our influence for making her a little more alternative looking is that the majority of our audience wanted her to look ‘edgy’ so we wanted to take some influence from this and keep her looking casual and alternative as it was a common association to that genre of music. Our audience wanted us to cut to the beat of the song as we feel like it will give the video greater structure and make it seem more professional. For lighting the results were a bit more varied with the audience torn between both high and low key lighting as well as just low key lighting. For our video we might have a slight mixture of the two but it'll predominantly be low key lighting. We will mainly focus on the narrative as our polldaddy results show this as well as our audience feedback showed that narrative was an important aspect, especially if it was easy and understandable. Our audience also liked the idea of hand drawn graphics such as the scribble effect. We think this would be a good idea as it would be more entertaining for the audience and captivate them more. Our second set of audience research compared the two music videos Blood In A Cut by K.Flay and Look What You Made Me Do by Taylor Swift. Two thirds of the audience prefered K.Flay’s video. The main reasons were the plot and the lighting and special effects.They prefered the low key lighting as they felt it was more ominous and was more fitting to the music. They also felt that the plot was easy to understand and straightforward. They felt the Taylor Swift video had too many narrative aspects and it soon became too complicated to understand so liked the simplicity of the other video. They also like the visual floating effect of K.Flay’s video which has inspired us to put greater focus of visual effects.
