Q3. What have you
learned from your
audience feedback?
During our treatment we summarized our initial ideas
for out music video. In the beginning we had to choose
between two songs we wanted
to produce. When displayed our audience
choose Kiana & Drake-On A Wave. The feedback for
this song was mainly positive, many thought it was
'catchy' and best suited the idea we wanted to follow,
which was a typical love music video, with both a male
and female, displaying their emotions for one another.
Our audience also believed the song was unique, compared to our
alternative and would be easier to produce a music video with as the lyrics
have a lot of meaning that can be attached to several things, for example it is
very clear the song is about a previous relationship and things have changed.
The song allowed us to be creative and use different features. Our idea
behind our music video concept stemmed from the early 2000's hip
hop genre, commonly in this genre, love songs display the break up of a
couple and end with the female moving on, usually with
someone else, happier. We also initially wanted to show a flashback of the
couple in their previous relationships and we would also use 'black
and white', however our audience disagreed with this idea as It might
come across, unprofessional which is something we really wanted to avoid.
Our audience didn't agree with this idea as it wouldn't match well with
the theme as the idea of black and white to signify the past is sometimes
associated to be traditional. We therefore decided to follow a step by
step/story routine for the music video to tell a story, according to the lyrics.
When we represented our rough cut of our a
music video, we had 70% of the music
video completed. When presenting our audience told
us we had to develop more on telling the story of
the lyrics, through adding more scenes to match
the lyrics, while also making sure that we are making
clear what we want the audience to perceive.
The feedback we received was very beneficial and
constructive as it fitted our target audience,
which would be late teens,early 20's.
We also received feedback for print products (digipaks),initially I
wanted to keep a simple layout for both my cd and magazine
front cover. In my feedback I was instructed to include more text to
provide the reader for more information on what their actually reading,
this will help to get a reaction from the reader, preferably our target
audience to intrigue them. I was also advised to use a
brighter colours to make it more appealing, attractive and easier to
spot out, while also keeping a consistent style throughout the digipack.
In conclusion, my overall feedback was fairly positive but mainly
constructive so I was able to develop my digipack enough to make it
appeal to my target audience.

Our audience didn't agree with this idea as it wouldn't match well with the theme as the idea of black and white to signify the past is sometimes associated to be traditional. We therefore decided to follow a step by step/story routine for the music video to tell a story, according to the lyrics.
  • 4. When we represented our rough cut of our a music video, we had 70% of the music video completed. When presenting our audience told us we had to develop more on telling the story of the lyrics, through adding more scenes to match the lyrics, while also making sure that we are making clear what we want the audience to perceive. The feedback we received was very beneficial and constructive as it fitted our target audience, which would be late teens,early 20's.
  • 5. We also received feedback for print products (digipaks),initially I wanted to keep a simple layout for both my cd and magazine front cover. In my feedback I was instructed to include more text to provide the reader for more information on what their actually reading, this will help to get a reaction from the reader, preferably our target audience to intrigue them. I was also advised to use a brighter colours to make it more appealing, attractive and easier to spot out, while also keeping a consistent style throughout the digipack. In conclusion, my overall feedback was fairly positive but mainly constructive so I was able to develop my digipack enough to make it appeal to my target audience.
